De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #124/125- Wed 7/9

De que los hombres no tienen ni idea, no tienen ni idea

Hola, amigas/os.  Again I want to thank Kat for taking my place this past month.  I just got in from being out this evening but wanted to leave a space for you all to chat among yourselves while I cook up this recap.

The Brat yells at Natalia for “rescuing” her from a really shady doc.  (Earlier a poor young woman tells the doctor her bleeding hasn’t stopped and he says its normal.  That wasn’t a big enough sign for Brat but often clueless Karina was horrified.)  She forbids Nat to tell anyone about this and guess who drives up?  Of course, its Diego.
La Jaiba sells her place to the city official she was bribing/sleeping with.  She almost lost the deal but Abdalah urged her to take the money and run with him to Paris.

Poor, clueless Al calls Irene looking for the Brat.

Poor, brokenhearted Morales is distraught because he’s messing over El and Kimi doesn’t want him.  But then Kimberly comes to El’s office looking for him.  She locks the door and they start to kiss.  When El tries to get into his office, they pretend the door got stuck and the three of them go to lunch.

Diego naturally asks what Nat is doing at this odd place.  She tells him for a gynecological exam and he confesses to following her.  She’s tried of him not trusting her and I’m tried of her “confusion.”  Yes Diego is being a jerk but how does she not see that her engaging with Rod is his trigger?  Moreover, why isn’t it hers after all the trauma Rod has put her through?

Morales reads this extremely romantic letter he wrote to Kimi under the pretext, that we know is real, he wrote it for a woman who he loves but she loves someone else.  Kimberly keeps giving Morales hints that things will change.

La Jaiba and Abdalah meet Carmen on the street.  La Jaiba taunts Carmen but Carmen warns her about reaping and sowing.

Paolo tells Carmen Mara broke with him.  Her wicked, evil mother overhears Mara talking with Paolo and vows she will not see him.  Sara, I’m so with you on being very comfortable with the death of this character.  I just hope Mara gets strong counseling after years of verbicide from a horrible mother.

The Brat gets to the apt and Al wants to know where she’s been as he caught her in a lie.  She tries to tell another lie and finally leaves when he doesn’t buy it.

Diego goes to Irene because he’s concerned that Nat lied to him.  He admits he is acting crazy and not sleeping which can truly make you crazy.

Big Al goes to his friend, little Al, to complain about the Brat.  Little Al actually tells Big Al to ask important questions like why are with her if you don’t trust her?

Irene and Nat start to talk about the Diego situation but Nat shuts down because she thinks Irene will support Diego.  Again yes he’s being crazy but you keep playing with the one thing that makes him crazy and continue to be oblivious to it.  Irene muses about telling Nat why she is closer to Irene than the boys but chickens out.

Kimberly tells El she’s be leaving town to go to a festival.  This is a lie because she’s planning to meet up with Morales.  Yeah!

Rod smirks and approaches Nat, who slaps him.  Color me shocked but he did knock up her sister.  She actually tells him he’s nothing but a bastard.

The Brat goes to the fonda and asks Carmen to hug her.  She asks to come back home.

Grumps (Vicente) comes to Rod to get a fix on the fabrics.  Rod is more concerned about Brigitte ruining his plans and leaves Grumps without a plan and losing more money.

Adummy recalls Jaiba in a lip-lock with Abdalah. Mally had a great day at work and I notice, thanks to Vivi, that her blue extensions are gone.  They have a cute scene and I wish them happiness.  Angela better get a good guy by the end of this tn, doggone it.

Abdalah updates Carmen on his plan to destroy La Jaiba.

Tadeo asks Irene when is she going to tell Nat?  He tells her he doesn’t have much time.  She whines about it not being the time.  Really, Irene.  I get you are scared but you don’t want Nat to find out Tad’s her father AFTER Tad is dead.  He has another bad moment.

Rod harasses Brigitte and he kidnaps her.  Ok, it might not be true kidnaping but he forces her into his car against her will.

La Jaiba announces her engagement to Abdalah to the Crabettes.  She acts shocked when they are angry about her selling the place.  They actually attack her when she says if they don’t like the fact she sold the place, they can leave.  After the beat down, she questions why he didn’t protect her.  She thinks she will be with Abdalah tonight but he tells her he’ll pick her up the next day.

Carmen calls Big Al, who is drunk.  She thinks she now knows why Brigitte left him.  Meanwhile Brigitte is promising Rod she will do anything for him.  All I can do is ask why would you say that to someone who treats you like dirt?

Abdul (he’s acting less stupid) and Mally look at a new place and he attempts to talk the owner into taking his cell and MP3 player until they have the money.

Drunk Big Al goes to little Al’s place to drink more.

Mara’s mother continues to manipulate her daughter.  Mara realizes her mother is a manipulative shrew.

Brigitte actually promises Rod she’ll get an abortion; he’s happy.  Nat goes to look for confused sister.  Later Brigitte truly makes a deal with the devil:  Rod will give her the money if she does everything he says.

El comes by as Nat is leaving.  He tries to ask Carmen out but she won’t until he breaks up with Kimi.  He attempts to be stubborn but Carmen holds her ground.  This actually a cute scene and they are very flirty.

Mara cries to Paolo about her realization of her mother’s wickedness.  Evil mother then goes for the drug overdose to keep Mara linked to her.

Unfortunately, this is where my DVR stopped.  Please let me know what I missed.  From telenovela world’s summary, it appears that Mara’s evil mother takes the drugs and an ambulance has to be called.

Diego goes to El and little Al for advice on his jealousy.

Abdalah drops the bomb on La Jaiba

And Rod uses his gun to blackmail Nat into seeing him.

Hi all. I think I may not have part of the show because of the World Cup. Please let me know what I missed.

Okay, so Nat barely started to redeem herself with me in this eppy. Pro-choice debate aside, I don't agree with the way she burst into the clinic and forced Brat out (though when Brat forbade her from talking about it, I would've said "the same way I can't force you to even give this situation more thought or even consider a different place and doctor, you certainly can't forbid me to talk…you could ask though, and we could talk about what’s going on.") And I get that Nat was in a bad mood, but she totally blew Diego off when he admitted that in retrospect following her around was eye roll and annoy worthy behavior, instead of giving him points for owning up to it. Even if she didn't want to talk then, she should've at least admitted that yes, she did lie, but not for anything that would make him mad. Given that she was already pissed at him, she didn't want to share, but I would hope that had they not been fighting, she might have at least asked him to be a sounding board. She seemed to be having that convo at the end of the eppy, but my DVR cut it off.
Wow, Alonso once again gave good advice! Alberto, ask yourself what we've all been wanting to know: what makes you want that crazy B...rat? Of course, again Al, like everyone else, just ended up drinking his problems down instead of dealing.
YAY MARA!!!!!!!!!!! So glad she stood up to Mommie Dearest. OMG, I am so DONE with that woman! She needs to get help and stop fastidiando la vida de su hija, ya!
I was going to hate on El and Kim, but Carmen saved him with their scene at the end of the show. Very cute, and I’m glad to see one couple owning up to their issues and still able to smile about it. Are they somehow learning from Abdul and Mali?
I hope Brig notes that Carmen is in fact a loving mother who worries about her...I still hope that Brig's dad is the only pobre diablo desgraciado of the Garcia padres.
I thought Irene was going to tell Nat with Carmen? And Tadeo, you are spot on about your daughter. Are you, the last one to meet her, the only one that can predict her reaction?!

Sorry Karen, I hit post before I realized what you were asking.

No worries HellaShelle. ITA with so many of your comments. It was ridiculous when Brat FORBID Nat to say anything and Nat and Diego need basic marriage counseling so they can learn how to communicate.

And little Al actually giving good advise, who would have thought. I think Kat said, we often tell others what we ourselves should do. So Done w/Mara's wicked witch mom too. Hoping Irene tells Nat already.

Just had to skim this in a hurry, Karen, as I have an early class to teach, but I'll definitely watch later today because I want to see El and Carmen get flirty (if nothing more, sigh). But sounds like another session of women acting badly and men drinking too much. Except for young Abdul and Mali who are forging ahead at making a better life for themselves.

Love your Big Al and Little Al. Indeed. And glad the latter finally gave some good advice.

Thanks Ms. Karen. Will be back later after I've seen the show.

Karen, so happy you are back! You returned in fine form with your usual high caliber sass and witty spark. This was fantastic.

"That wasn’t a big enough sign for Brat but often clueless Karina was horrified", “ Poor, clueless Al, “Poor, brokenhearted Morales” and "I just hope Mara gets strong counseling after years of verbicide from a horrible mother" were among my many favorites.

You sliced through the layers to reveal the heart of what is the most troubling aspect (of many) herre: “Yes Diego is being a jerk but how does she not see that her engaging with Rod is his trigger? Moreover, why isn’t it hers after all the trauma Rod has put her through?” Exactly, amiga! How is Rod still able to pull her strings after what he has done?

I thought I loathed Rod before but after the way he has terrorized Brig, he is dead to me. I just want he and Grumps to disappear and by the way, please take Mara's mother with you. What a hideous excuse for a human being.

After the unhoy trio is dispatched, we can truly sit back and enjoy the truly interesting stories here: Lupita, Mara and Paolo, Abdul and Mally, Morales and Kim, Alberto, Irene and Tadeo and Angela. And yes, El and Carmen.

HellaShelle, thank you for adding so much! And while I am crazy about Alberto, you are right in that unfortunately he is handling his problems poorly and drinking to drown his sorrows (as most seem to do here).

Agree with you HellaShelle and Judy that little Al did give some good advice. It appears that Karina may be starting on the path to redemption. I am hoping that she and Alonso will indeed become a couple, leaving Irene to hopefully fall in love with her wonderful husband.

Thanks Karen. This was excellent.

Diana

Karen- So good to have you back, amiga. Wonderful return recap too.

The soccer pushed everything back an hour, so you go the first hour.

In the last hour...
-Because Mara's mom was already so sick, the overdose will basically be the death of her. Yay! (Evil, I know.) Mara and Paolo bring Padre J in to do last rites. He tells them she repented her sins, but we don't see the evidence of that yet.
-After he finds Nat in front of her house (looking for Brat) and they make up, Diego starts receiving mysterious text messages from a private number telling him Nat is cheating on him, and that he'll find her meeting her lover in a specific hotel the next morning. He shows it to El and little Al. They tell him it's ridiculous and likely Rod messing with him. He calls Rod, who feigns being asleep, and Diego believes him! Oh, who could the mystery texter be? Doh!
-Jaiba packs her bags and gets ready to hop in Abdalah's car to head off to Paris, but, surprise! Carmen hops out and she and Abdalah drop the bomb on Jaiba that Abdalah is Abdul's daddy and they were playing her. She hops on the next bus to Veracruz.
-Morales and Kim spend some quality time in his bed eating ice-cream, and having dessert (no, those are not the same things). Kim is insatiable.
-Rod calls Nat pretending he is so distraught about what a jerk he's been that he's going to pop a cap into his own head. He emphasizes it with a few clicks of the gun chamber. She rushes to his hotel room to stop him. Idiot! Diego is about to follow her, when Irene stops him and points out what a jealous idiot he is being. Then they get distracted when Grumps calls them into a meeting to tell them he's making Rod Exec President. Fool!
-El has one of his men follow Nat to the hotel. She buys into Rod's drama bs, takes the gun from him, tucks him in bed, and leaves, dropping the gun in a small wastebasket in the hotel. (Anyone else worried about a gun with Nat's prints just floating around?) Rod celebrates because he is sure jealous Diego is waiting for her in the lobby. He's very disappointed when he calls his accomplice Brat, and finds out Diego never left Caprico.
-El is waiting for Nat when she exits the hotel. She gets uppity when he says he had her followed, but after he explains about the texts she realizes it was a a setup by Rod and calls herself an idiot. No argument from us!

Ya know, it's not just that Nat seems to have some weird attachment to Rod that's bugging Diego, but also that she's been snippy with him and having these mysterious calls and meetings and not even making an effort to explain. I know she promised the Brat silence, but Diego is the man she's going to marry and also the uncle of this baby. She should tell him what's going on. That would also help break down any fears Diego has about a Nat-Rod hookup, if he and Nat were working together to deal with the mess their siblings made while boinking each other.

Previews show Brat and Rod setting up a hotel room tryst between the two of them to look like it's Nat and Rod, and getting Diego to see it. It doesn't look pretty.

Karen, thank you for this recap. Yeah, the foooot-bowl world cup is screwing up our schedule.

Vivi, like you I am way worried about Nat leaving that gun in the trash can with her fingerprints on it.

I know that this is a tn, but why does Nat play into Rod's evil games? I wish that when he called her she would have said, "Suicide? Yeah, if I was a worthless scumbag piece of sh!t like you that's exactly what I would do."

Coming attractions do not look good for the home team.

David

Thank you Karen, you do not disappoint and a shout out to HellaShelle and Vivi.

Rarely do I totally agree on some of the finer points but last night synced us up. An ongoing mystery to me is why people continue to play in the sandbox of an abuser? Some don't, like Mali and now Mara, but others, even when they are able to crawl out, the petulant playboy just whines, cajoles or harangues them back in. Three women; Erma, Nat and Brigitte can't seem to get the sand out of their shorts.

Nat - El needs to put the training wheels back on

Morlas - hydrate & an energy bar between sprints

Diego - got nothing for you dude, confuses the hell outta me

Tad - maybe you can tell her with your last breath

Irene - not only about you

Alberto - you're wasting money on good booze

El - Morlas should be your boss, he is less a coward

Carmen - steady, steady, keep it in the center of the road

Hot Rod - congrats on the promotion to Executive Prick

Grumps - what a legacy you'll pass on

Wicked Witch of The East - Mara's Mom

Karen, it is so good to have you back!! Thank you so much for our recap. :))

Too many cliches now on this show. It makes me lose interest.

Natalia is a dope.

Brat is beyond sickening.

El and Carmen are close to boring me.

Grumps has gotta go.

Fatima

Whoa, I missed a LOT. Thanks for the supplementary recap Vivi! I think I'm in the same boat as Karen and lost the second half because of the World Cup.

Thank God for El. Lupita is his (and my) favorite for good reason, but it's nice that he takes an interest in the boys and her as well. Brig = whatever, she doesn't deserve it. I hope Nat finally gets that she's too soft. And again, WHY WOULD YOU NOT CALL HIS FAMILY IF HE'S SUICIDAL?! If I were on the show, she'd be the one getting slapped (or at least shaken while I scream "What is wrong with you?!) today.

Sometimes I really wish characters would just foil and evil plot instead of taking us down a predictable and overdone scheme. When Diego gets the hotel room tryst set up text, I want him to just 1) recognize it as Rod's evil work himself 2) show it to Nat or, as an alternative, but make sure to be with her up to the appointed time so that they can both bust their evil sibs and Nat gets some more reinforcement about Rod being the malicious little fart that he is.

Side note, kudos to Juan Diego Covarrubias. I think he does a better job of Rod than Diego sometimes, but he's doing a really good job of handling a double role.

Kim - this behind the back loving is so Brig worthy. You and Morales are cute, but you're better than this behavior, girl.

Vicente is officially losing it. I simply cannot understand what inspired him to PROMOTE Rod after he screwed up royally and then blew V off when he wanted an update. Seriously, what is the reasoning here?

I like Kimmy but do not like her creeping with Morlas, though she clearly is not loved by El. El likely will be let off easy and not have to break it off and either Kim, Morlas or some happenstance will out them.

Nat has got me chasing my own tail. In the same sentence she will be angry with Diego (or anyone else including El last night) when she is caught in a lie and then tell him/them to just trust her or whip out her handy dandy I'm Stupid" excuse. One, she is an idiot and how can you trust a lying idiot? Two, she knows Diego is sensitive to her ministrations with Rodrigo and the reason she lies to him over and over.

Like, Diego if you totally trusted me I wouldn't lie to you.

Hello amigas/os. Thanks for your kind words!! Hoping the protagonist can move out of the silly mode soon.

Thanks so much to Vivi for giving us the second hour!! Happy with no longer have to tolerate Mara's evil mommy.

Judy, it is nice to see one couple being kind and considerate to one another (Abdul and Ma) with Carmen and El making progress.

Diana, Rod's continued terrorizes of Brigette was horrible. She should have known not to make ANY other deals with him. It will only cause much pain.

Vivi, your insight on Nat explains why most of us are so annoyed with her. Either you are intelligent and demonstrate this by telling EVERYONE about the psycho who is trying to manipulate you (and others) or you are not that bright and realize you need help so you tell EVERYONE about the psycho.

David, add me to the list of those worried about Nat's finger prints on the gun. And if only Nat would have used your script instead.

tofie - thanks for another great list and ITA about those remaining in the abuser sand box. You can pick up your toys and go to another sand box at any time. Do so now.

Fatima, yes the cliches are trying our patience. That is where good writing comes in and I feel for some characters, specifically Nat and Grumps, that ball has been dropped.

HellaShelle, yes Nat needs to have been reasoning skills (Rod has a family to deal with his suicide attempt) and Kimberly doesn't need to be sneaking around.

tofie, spot on: Nat, if you love Diego, why do you keep lying to him.

K aren, thanks so much fir the excellent recap.

Vivi, thanks for stepping up so quickly to provide us with the second half,

Like many of you, I do not like the message being sent about drawling into a bottle of booze whenever you are sad/mad/bad. This show started with an alcoholic trying to get sober. However, the fat boys just keep taking turns with getting drunk when the going gets tough. The others sit around discussing the current boracho's options. Basta. What mixed messages they are sending out.

I am also tired of a loser being a psychologist and acting so foolishly. Although, I have to admit that I have several friends in this profession who sometimes do not make the best decisions in their own lives. It happens. I am afraid that Irene and Aloser are skated to end up together, but I do not like this pairing. irina has suffered enough in her life and deserves better.

I love Big Al who might just have a chance of becoming my fourth place telenovio if he smarten up and sees beyond Brat's short, tight bandage dresses. However, I am getting a funny feeling that the writers are planning to redeem Brat now that they are having Rod manhandle and intimidate her.

I love Paulo..so protective and responsible. He would make a great son-in-law. His personality reminds me of my hub who is also protective and responsible. He and Mara make a sweet couple.

I also admire Mally trying to pull herself up and Abdul joining her in attempting to build a life. I hope that they end up together. Perhaps Angela will not get a match in this novela and will have to move on to a new novela. To echo our dear Carlos,,,NEXT.

Kim...You seem to like the cake, the ice cream, and the dessert that Morie supplies you with so eagerly...just move on. El's heart belongs to his childhood puppy love. That happens sometimes..you never forget your first love.

Fat boys????...frat boys

to fine..Loved your list.

As to leaving the abuser's sandbox, Sometimes , the abuser has had such a profound effect on the person's self esteem that it is hard for the person to move away. Abusers convince their victims that they are the ones who are responsible for anything that goes wrong even when they are the ones who are drinking, drugging, and cheating. "It is all your fault , and you are worthless."

Susanlynn welcome and thanks. It is true that abusers often really damage the esteem to those they abuse. And if the writers had made this a part of Nat's personality it would be quite compelling. However, I find her written as the typical too naive and trusting heroine. And when she gets feisty, its usually missed directed.

Agree Susanlynn, saw my own father wear my mother down to a nub and thankfully she hit bottom before it was too late and left him. Agonizingly slow process and not always a happy ending.

Susanlynn - That's very true, and definitely the case for Mara. For Brig it doesn't appear to be abuse, but I guess, as she keeps whining, being compared to a perfect sibling has it's affect. For Nat, I suppose having a sibling constantly reminding you that you were abandoned by your parents and are stealing her supposed place in the spotlight by being a goody two shoes and then having your "good girl" actions be the reason a man ends up in a coma could also produce a desire to clean the same darn sandbox over and over again. Maybe Alonso can make some referrals?

It's so good to have you back Karen! I really appreciate the detailed recap since I want be able to watch this week. (Many thanks to Vivi for the second hour, too.)

I'm glad I missed Nat's stupidity, but I'm not happy about missing Mali and Abdul.

And Irene HAS to talk to Nat. I am not going to be a happy camper if Tad passes away before Nat can know he's her father.

Hi Sara, thanks for your comments. Irene is frustrating because in one breath she wants Tad to get the bone marrow from Nat but doesn't want to tell Nat the next minute. Again I understand her fear but she (really Tad) does not have long to tell this story without dire consequences.

Honestly Tad and Paolo are two of my faves. So gentle and caring!

Karen and Sara - ITA, Irene's being kind of selfish about this. I mean, I know you're scared, but a man's life is on the line and if Nat's marrow can't save him, he has even less time to get to know the daughter you didn't tell him about for 26 years. Buck up, call Carmen and get this done!

So, basically, Mara's mom committed suicide--which is a major sin in the Catholic religion.

Hi Nanette. Though I didn't see this part, based on what Vivi said, yes. I think they are trying to patch things over by saying she repented as her OD was on purpose. She didn't mean to kill herself but the writers did make it ironic that in trying to control her daughter this one last time, she killed herself.

And Sara yes Tad and Paolo are my favs as well.

Yep. Mara's mom didn't intend to kill herself, just to control Mara. Oops! :)

As for her repenting, we'll have to wait to see tonight when Mara goes back into her room to say goodbye.

I have an early meeting and a full day tomorrow, so tonight's recap will be a quick one (I say now, but who knows).

Gracias, Karen! It's good to have you back. Sorry the boys in shorts are messing with the schedule. I think it's different in every time zone. I keep getting the warnings from Uni that everything will be starting late, but it still starts on time here (AZ).

How sad is it that I blocked out most of the second hour? I've been reading over the comments and Vivi's summary and thinking "Oh, yeah, that's right, that DID happen." I was all about Mara's mom's overdose and Kim and Morales with the ice cream. I guess Nat getting suckered in by Rod and touching the gun and then just dumping it in a random trash can when she has a cop for a friend was just too annoying to me. Though, Rod's temper tantrum when he realized that Diego didn't follow Nat was amusing.

Thanks Karen, Hella and Vivi for the complete 2 hrs. My recorder also failed to record the second hour.
Believe it or not, my favorite character is Nat. She's a great actor(IMHO). She's cast in the same boat as all novela protagonists. Seems they have to suffer all types of abuse and deception not to mention how many times they are outsmarted. It's a no brainer that keeping Brat's secret and her fingerprints on the gun are going to come back and bite her in the butt big time. When Brigette left the clinic in a cab she left Nat standing there looking lost. I wish she were smarter but I know it's not going to happen until the last 2 or 3 episodes when she finds out about her bio parents and rushes in to save Tads life, just before wedding Diego.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I won't be surprised if Nat ends up in jail (AGAIN)!!

Foxy- Wouldn't Grumps just love that too.

Hi Kat and Foxy. Thanks for your comments.

Kat, I completely understand forgetting everything else with the death of Mara's mom. We have to enjoy when evil characters are finally go away for good.

Foxy, I just wish the writers had made Nat smarter; it seems most of the time females in tns are smart when they are villains. And you are right, Nat will probably be in jail again before the end of this tn, sigh.
