De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #132/133- Tuesday 7/15
The following recap has been composed under extreme emotional distress. It will be out of order and in my usual squirrely way.
I still think they are editing the parts where everyone drops acid or smokes crack or otherwise suffers some psychotic break. I have no other explanation for the absolutely out-of-chartacter actions I witnessed tonight.
The Investigation
The writers have decided we need a dose of realism. Morales is doing the investigation thing and questioning Hilda. Tiburcio sits in the background and makes moaning sounds. Hilda lets Morales search the garden. Vicente receives a call from his friend Rodolfo the procurador. Morales is *thisclose* to finding the wrench when Vicente throws him off the property for searching without a warrant.
El's boss is also not pleased. El has a major conflict of interest and shouldn't be working this case. The boss takes El off the case and puts Bustos in charge. The boss tells El that thanks to his conduct, they may not even be able to convict Rod even if they do find any evidence.
I might as well tell you now that Vicente has friends in high places. Alonso remembers Tiburcio's odd behavior and guttural growling and makes the correct assumption that Tiburcio knows something. Alonso tells El, but when El informs Bustos he's told that word came from higher ups to close the investigation. Does't matter though. El is going prove that Rod is the killer even if it costs him his badge.
The Funeral
It's so sad. Diego did show up in time to pay his last respects. Alonso and Irene also run into each other. Alonso falls into her arms and they hug. I'm still Team Tad. Don't try and pull at my heartstrings, writers. I haven't forgotten that Karina business.
The Performance
Brigitte pulls out all the stops for Alberto's funeral. Even Rod makes the comment that she should win an award. (I should win an award for not lacing this recap with profanity.)
Her grief is all for show, however. She quickly recovers and goes to Vicente. She tells him that she's pregnant with his bisnieto and she expects some respect and pay outs. She willing to submit to any tests Vicente wants. Vicente is not pleased. Brat doesn't care. She knows what the baby is worth.
When Rod confronts her, she tells him that she's seen the error of her ways and keep the baby is to her advantage. Everyone knows she's pregnant with his child, so if anything happens to it or her they will blame him.
BTW, why is Brat even at Caprico? Didn't Irene and Nat blow that joint last week?
Brigitte returns home to Carmen since she can't afford the rent on Alberto's place (not to mention she doesn't deserve it.) Carmen sees right through her bad seed. She knows that when Fish Lips thinks about the baby, all she sees is $$$$$$$$. I can't decide if Carmen is the best mom in the world or a complete dope. I would not have let Brat back in the house. I do feel bad for Carmen, though. I hate that she's blaming herself for Brat's ambition and selfishness.
The Beginning of the End
At least I hope it is. Vicente is pretty pithed about Rod shtupping and impregnating Brat. He asks how long Rod has known about the baby. Did he know before Alberto died? Rod gets angry that Vicente doubts him. Vicente doesn't even want to think about the possibility that Rod killed Alberto. Vicente tells off Rod. He was opposed to Diego bringing that family into the fold so to speak and Rod has just opened the door. Did Rod take Brat as a consolation prize since he couldn't have Nat? Does Rod do these sort of things because he knows that he's less than Diego. Rod tells Vicente not to compare them and leaves.
Alone, Vicente takes a moment to monologue. Everyone tried to tell him about Rod, but he wouldn't listen. Now he's gone and got that cualquiera pregnant and might be involved in Alberto's death. He doesn't think it's possible for Rod to be a killer. He calls Diego and wants to talk to him. Diego turns him down.
The Personality Shift-Part I
After the funeral Diego heads back to Bro Central (*sniff* No Alberto.) He is mad about Natalia. She didn't lose any time getting with Andres. He bad mouths her. El cannot understand why Diego continues to believe that it was Nat in the hotel room. I admit I missed some dialogue. I was yelling and cursing.
Ok. Maybe this isn't a shift per se. He just seemed much meaner about his distrust this time.
Natalia's New Job
Andres shows her the new office and she's less than thrilled. It was upsetting to see Diego at the funeral. They are done, but it still hurts. Andres knows all about pining away for someone you love. Are you even listening, Nat? Your working for Andres is insensitive and cruel. Jus' sayin'. Andres gets around to explaining her new job. He wants her in charge of PR and to help design the new packaging. This is pretty funny. Nat goes from fashion design to fishin' design.
The Results
Natalia is a match for Tad. She will be able to donate her bone marrow and save Tad's life. She's over the moon. There's some dialogue about risks. The night before, Tad can't sleep. He wants to finish the painting he's working on. It's very important to him. Irene convinces him to rest. I have a bad feeling about this.
The Personality Shift-Part II
Angela runs all over town tearing down Mali and Abdul. She gets Mali fired. I can't even. QTH? Where did this even come from?
Abdul confronts Angela at the fonda and Carmen takes Mali and Abdul's side....even after finding out Mali's history. Angela quits. Hey, Mali...there's an opening at the fonda now.
But Angela wasn't done! She also went to Abdul and Mali's landlord and gets them tossed out. They head over to Carmen's and she welcome's them with open arms. Where there's room for 6 there's room for 7.
Fish Lips is a turd about the guest.
The Patient
Tiburcio spends almost the entire episode trying to get Hilda to just step over to the damn alphabet chart. She just keeps trying to shove fruit in his mouth.
Vicente comes and questions Tiburcio. Tiburcio manages to communicate that he didn't see anything. He was asleep.
The Trap
Nat runs into Diego (I assume at her new job with Andres? I wasn't too sure.) He acts like Rod and uses the "preciosa" business. She doesn't fall for it and plays along. Eventually they both come clean, but Nat is pithed. She tells Diego she'll prove she wasn't with Rod and makes him drive her to a hotel. Every step of the way Diego has the chance to tell Nat he's sorry and trusts her.
They get to hotel. He doesn't say squat. They exit the elevator. He thinks whatever she's doing is just nuts. Natalia explains she has no other way to prove she wasn't with Rod than to give herself to Diego. Silently she begs Diego to say he doesn't need that kind of proof; that he believes her. Diego just asks "Are you sure?" EPIC FAIL TAKE ONE. Nat sits in the bed, wrapped in sheets. She tells him again this is the only way she can prove she wasn't with Rod. Again, she silently begs him to tell her that he doesn't need this kind of proof. Diego just says "Ok, whatever you want" and starts to undress. EPIC FAIL TAKE TWO. At this point I am foaming at the mouth. Why do I even watch this show??
It is not a pretty scene. Nat is in tears and Diego is kissing her. He finally asks why she's crying. She responds: "Now do you believe me? Now to you believe you are my first?" (OK. Did they? Or didn't they? I'm assuming they did since she Nat says to herself later "I can't believe it had come to this for you to believe me" loose translation.) FINALLY dude gets a clue and (too late) begs for forgiveness. He even has the gall to suggest they just forget about it. He wants to consecrate his life to her (we've heard this line before from Brat) and fix his error. Shut up Diego. Oh, he's going to keep talking... He's never going to doubt her again. Oh I'm done. The first time was enough. FF>>>>>>>>>
He follows her out of the hotel and she breaks up with him. And it's seems pretty permanent this time (See below: Avances.)
Alonso's "I told you so" doesn't help calm me down.
The Haunting
Rod continues to be haunted by Al. He sees him on TV then next to his bed. Ghost-Alberto tells him it's his conscience talking and he's dead because Rod killed him. Sooner or later he's going to pay. Rod tells Ghost-Alberto that no one can prove that. Ghost-Alberto tells him to not be so sure. They were friends and Rod betrayed him (echo echo echo.)
The Out-of-Place Scene
Morales still wants Kimberly to dump El. She will in time. She asks Morales to say something sweet. She gets "piloncillo" (powdered brown sugar.) She's still pretty snuggly with Osito if you ask me.
The Haunting Part II
Rod remembers the wrench (llave de perico.) He runs out to the garden to get it. He has to get rid of it. Vicente catches him and asks him what he's doing. Ghost-Alberto tells him to tell Vicente. Vicente wonders if it's his conscience. Vicente thinks Rod is worried about Brat's pregnancy. Vicente also notices the wrench and Rod just said it was just lying around.
The Avances
Natalia seems pretty close to Andres and there's a new lady on the scene. I'm still foaming at the mouth.

So yeah been watching this show for a while now it's watchable.
Exo binary k
I felt so very sad during Big Al's funeral. What an act Fish Lips Brat put on for everyone. Phony.
Why oh why, Natalia? Why oh why?!
The saddest part for me, though, was seeing Carmen cry in the bedroom knowing that her Toxic Waste Fish Lips daughter is not going to amount to anything. The actress was really good in that scene.
Thank you so much, Sara. I have not been watching the TN for too long, but these writers really can confuse a person.
Fatima
Am I being grumpy if I think the logic for Nat's test sounded like bad male clap-trap about women? The mindset here of proving your innocence (virginity) by sleeping with someone/anyone before marriage seems to defeat its purpose and makes no sense. I was expecting Nat to have Diego look at the bed sheet for "proof." And then he didn't realize during their interaction she was crying the entire time? What was that? And what was with her hoping he would do/say the right thing? He kept failing but she continued with this foolishness. Why do are the writers trying to destroy a tn I like and make me hate the leads?
Angela continues to act completely out of character while the Brat seems to have found her groove - back at home, threatening Rod (that was actually amusing), and getting money from Grumps - and back to being the horrible person she's been throughout the tn.
My consolation is Big Al is haunting Rod.
And for tomorrow it looks like a new character is introduced probably to cause jealousy.
Holy cow that fried me.
Fatima
Wow, was I wrong about Angela. Someone said yesterday that she would get Mali fired, and I didn't think it would come to that, much the less surpass it by going to their landlord. Messed up, Angela.
I just hate Brig. I don't want her redeemed. I don't want her to see the baby and fall in love with him or her and turn her life around. I just want to see her get a reality check...
..Like Vicente is getting. I'm glad Tib learned to lie; when V walked into his room all in black, he straight up looked devilish.
Think V will promote Brig and force Rod to marry her to avoid ::gasp:: scandal? I hope they make each other miserable, then get disinherited and then end up in jail forever.
The writers are doing a good job of keeping me wondering about how the Kar/Alonso/Irene/Tad Quadrangle of Fools (sorry Tad, that's not really fair to you) is going to play out. Is the painting a family portrait? Will Tad have complications?
Kim and Morales-enough already.
Diego and Nat - No. Just no. I'm done with you two tonight. Nat, Diego can't read minds, stop thinking what you want and speak up. Diego, yeah you are an idiot and imbecile. All of a sudden she's "mi amor" again? "Let's forget it all"?! You and Angela must have the same dealer.
BTW, does Diego know Brig is having Rod's child yet?
"I still think they are editing the parts where everyone drops acid or smokes crack or otherwise suffers some psychotic break." Agree!
"I should win an award for not lacing this recap with profanity." If I had one, I would hand it over.
"Nat goes from fashion design to fishin' design." Ka-ching!
"Angela quits. Hey, Mali...there's an opening at the fonda now." I hope she quit. I hope she doesn't keep hanging around making trouble.
"Why do I even watch this show??" Girl, I...don't...even...the boys are pretty?
Lol, Vivi! I thought she was burning incense all this time!
I'm glad Big Al is sticking around to torment Rod. Love "Bertovision," Susanlynn.
The whole stupid "test" was just stupid the whole way around. And I blame them both. They were both being stupid. My guess is not only did they do the deed, but Nat is probably going to end up being pregnant. Anything less just wouldn't be sufficiently torturous.
HellaShelle, Diego found out about that right after they broke it to him that Big Al was actually murdered and why they think Rodrigo did it.
Nanette
STUPID, just because there is a diving board doesn't mean there is water in the concrete pool, fools.
My clever award for the night goes to Brigitte. Clap, well played, so far.
Couldn't the writers come up with some other way for Mali to be fired and thrown into the street?
Your "squirrelly" recaps are so much fun, Sara. I feel like we're watching together, kvetching constantly, throwing popcorn, and occasionally stomping out of the room shouting "Why do I even watch this mess!!!???"
Some of your best quips are the short ones. Like:
"Fish Lips is a turd about the guest."
[Say that to me on my death-bed and I'll start laughing uproariously and revive!]
The writers have made Diego stupider than usual, and vicious. Before he was just stupid.
And Angela! It is just so so so wrong what they have done to her character.
The martyrdom drama of Nat and Diego left me unmoved. But I cringed at Carmen's grief over Brigette. There is nothing worse for a parent than to see a child go wrong...and then wonder how you failed with that one. Papa Juancho can talk about free will all he wants, but a parent always feels responsible when a child turns out badly.
Sara, I didn't think Carmen's decision to let Brigette come back to her old room was "enabling". I know I couldn't turn out a pregnant daughter to the streets, whatever her character defects. And Carmen is still hoping that somehow, some way, she can influence Brigette and change her mindset and values.
And who knows...clearly the writers are going to twist and turn people's characters any way they please. Don't like this telenovela at the moment, but I'm still hooked!
Well, you may not have been happy with this episode, but you did a wonderful job of recounting it for us. Thank you!
I was so upset with the sex scene/test between Nat and Diego. Diego has been presented as this wholesome guy. Has he had sex before? If not, and without a lot of experience, how could he know what having sex with a virgin felt like? And Nat, why would you do this? And I agree with 5ft, this has to wind up with Nat fainting (tn 100% accurate pregnancy test). So Carmen will wind up with two nietos, one from a stupid father and one from an evil one.
So Vicente isn't protective of ALL the family, just those he thinks are deserving. Rod's latest adventures with his rod don't rise to the level of being part of the real family.
Oh, and Vicente went through an entire episode with no angina. Damn.
Carmen the lioness accepts a reformed prostitute into her home, but sees the flaws in her own daughter. Wow.
And Sara, your comment about not using profanity? What the heck: Let her rip!
David
Plus the fact that I'm sure the writers want to torture us some more with a pregnancy. Oh Fish Lips should look love that, too.
Diego seemed particularly dumb and definitely more vicious than usual last night.
OK. I'll cut Carmen some slack about letting Fish Lips back in the house.
"Carmen sees right through her bad seed", "Vicente is pretty pithed about Rod shtupping and impregnating Brat" and "Bro Central (*sniff* No Alberto.)" were among my many favorites.
Sara, I totally agree with your assessments that we were subjected to “absolutely out-of-character actions” as well as” I'm still Team Tad. Don't try and pull at my heartstrings, writers. I haven't forgotten that Karina business”. I’m right there with you!
Poor Tiburcio: “Tiburcio spends almost the entire episode trying to get Hilda to just step over to the damn alphabet chart. She just keeps trying to shove fruit in his mouth”. Most frustrating event (of many). My heart went out to him, hearing his pitiful moaning was heartbreaking.
So, color me wrong (once again) for beginning to think Brig would change. Karen, you captured her reality in spot on fashion: “… the Brat seems to have found her groove - back at home, threatening Rod (that was actually amusing), and getting money from Grumps”. You are right, she reverted to her hideous persona with just a momentary lapse. If you blinked, you missed it.
As for Nat? Fatima, your “Why oh why, Natalia? Why oh why?!” said it all succinctly and perfectly. Ack.
I mourn what was done to Angela along with Judy and everyone else. She tried to poison Abdul's mind, Carmen's mind, got Mally fired and she and Abdul evicted. Pretty good score for one day. How wrong and how totally out of character.
David "Oh, and Vicente went through an entire episode with no angina. Damn". Snort...
Sara, this was wonderful. Thank you.
Diana
Nat - spin the web, boink, kill & eat him
Diego - ugh, kinda rapey, Protip: those weren't tears of ecstasy
Brigitte - we are family get used to it
Angela - couldn't have cemented them better together with crazy glue
Irene - wobbly wheel, better check that out
Tad - enjoy your last days, pregnant women cannot donate bone marrow
Mali - hey roomies, let's talk about guys, I'll go first
Carmen - backbone of steel
El - showed you who's boss
Grumps - walk away, nothing to see here, nothing to see
Diego, Nat and Angela all need a few slaps upside the head to get back to thinking straight, and then a time out.
Carmen really stepped up to the plate by giving Mali the benefit of the doubt that she had changed, giving her and Abdul a place to stay, and by taking Brat in-- but she may come to regret that one soon.
I was so bummed that Rod had enough time to remember the wrench and retrieve it. I'm not better on Vicente doing anything about it. He was ok with letting Rod get away with the attempted murder of his brother, so why should he care that Rod really killed Alberto?
As for Brigitte, SMFH. No sympathy from me. Damn fake.
"Tad - enjoy your last days, pregnant women cannot donate bone marrow". Oh no...I have no idea how quickly pregnancy can be determined. Anyone?
Diana
I sure as heck hope the writers do not make Nat pregnant. That would just be too much.
I got a really bad feeling about Tad last night. He didn't seem happy enough about the match, he was insisting so much on finishing his painting (which I'm sure is Irene and Nat), and they kept trying to downplay the dangers he will face in the first stage when they kill off his immune system with chemo to prep him for the transplant. I'm keeping my finger crossed for him.
I bet they discover Nat is pregnant during while running routine tests before the transplant.
Vivi I had the same thought about Tad insisting he finish his painting.
Why are the writers on crack? Why are they messing with the few good guys?
Al and Tad do not deserve what's happening to them.
Have they changed writers in mid-stream, here? As I look back on last night, some of this just does not make good writing sense given how far we have come along in the story.
I think there was some inner acceptance on Grumps' part in that garden scene that Rod is dangerous. He knew instinctively that he had better not push it. He didn't know why, necessarily, but he knew he had better not go too far.
I think Fish Lips is going to come to a very bad end. It will break Carmen's heart and that will be a very sad day for her.
Do we think Fish Lips' father will show up at the very end?
Fatima
Well, the crazy writers certainly got us talking these last few episodes. Mission accomplished. I really wish they hadn't done a total character assassination with Angela, though.
1. He came from humble beginnings and married above his social/financial level.
2. His deceased wife did not want him to have the family business because...? (She just didn't like him? She thought he was incompetent?)
3. The family business is in trouble financially, and Irene's enterprise was going to be used to keep it in the black.
So, if I am right about the above, could it be that Vicente has always been a screw-up, and the bad choices we see him making regarding the business and his grandsons are not new?
David
Perhaps we can attribute his complete lack of trust in Nat to his bad experience with Diana the cheater.
Carmen may want to keep Brigitte close by to make sure she's taking care of the baby. Carmen knows Brigitte doesn't care about that baby and is only using it for cash.
Brigitte hasn't killed anyone or done anything really illegal so right now the appropriate punishment for her is shunning.
Regarding Diana, I wouldn't bet my lunch money that she was a virgin when she and Diego got together.
I also agree with you and tofie about Hilda. Who acts like that?
David
"Angela - couldn't have cemented them better together with crazy glue" tofie, word!
Add me to the chorus of those worried that Tad's not going to make it. And then they'll reveal the painting was a family portrait and I'll probably cry.
David, I think you're right. Maybe Vicente has always made bad choices and the success of the company had more to do with the general economy, hiring competent employees, and having Diego at the helm for a few years more than anything brilliant or innovative that Vicente himself did. I think Vivi is also right about Amalia noticing Vicente's treatment of Irene. It just makes me wonder whether she also noticed that Rod was heading down a bad road? Why leave the company only to the kids and not leave anything to Vicente at all? He must have done something specific for her to do that. Maybe she just trusted the kids to take care of him more than she trusted him to take care of the kids? And is this cousin who was supposed to manage things on the kids' behalf ever going to show up?
I'm sure Diego had some sexual experience...but was it enough for him to be able to tell the difference between good sex and bad sex?
Lord if Nat can't donate her marrow, she'll lose her dad because of that jacka** "proof" sex. With her ex. Who she wants nothing to do with now.
I was also wondering about that Anon207. Aside from the concept being dumb, how did that work from a purely physical standpoint. I know people can be arounsed despite fear and disgust, but nothing about that looked anything but awkward. Does the production team want us to want these two together or not?
I am laughing so hard tears are rolling down my cheeks.
But I don't want Carmen's heartbroken because of the way Brigette has turned out.
"¡Pasó un crimen, una revelacion, una muerte....y viene MAS! ¡Mira #QuieroTeQuiero en sus mejores momentos en Capítulos de 2 horas! 7PM/6C"
We've had a crime, a revelation, a death...and MORE is coming! Watch #QuieroTeQuiero 's best moments ....
If they're calling them "best moments" I think I might need to deal with this like a Bro Boy and invite my good friend Don Julio to watch with me.
Angela shot herself in the foot. It doesn’t look like she has family—at least not in the city. The Garcias are her family and she’s completely alienated them. Of course, a simple apology, especially to Mally, and she’d be back in the fold.
Diego knows Nat. He knows Rod. He knows Rod was sleeping with Brat, who has the same kind of hair as Nat’s (really didn't need the wig except, perhaps, for length). And he still believed Nat slept with Rod. Doofus!
My predication for Brat: her bio dad shows up and she ends up moving to France with him.
Kat: I noticed when Brat first realized she was pregnant that she caressed her stomach. I don’t know what she said, but that gesture made me think she didn’t have the same feelings about it as Diana. Her deciding to have a termination was probably out of fear more than anything else. But, as I said, I don’t know what she said about it all, and her words may have belied her actions.
Nanette
Did Carmen make a face because she knows something and is hiding it? Or did she make a face because that was the last thing she needed? Or did she just not like Abdul's comment?
So far, each father has tapped into a different emotion for Carmen:
-Chato: Sexual attraction, but also anger at being jilted, and a thirst for revenge (accomplished).
-Gino: Romantic warm and fuzzies (plus, he was the only one of the fathers to not know Carmen was pregnant, and who also went looking for her in Tuxpan when he got back).
-Abdul: More of a friend/cerebral connection, focused on working towards a common goal to help their son, but no lingering romantic feelings.
Let's see what happens with the Frenchman. Will he be the first one that Carmen flat out hates or can't forgive?
Not that it's a scientific fact or anything, but in Novelaland if Carmen were carrying around that rencor while pregnant it may explain Brat's behavior.
Apropos of nothing: Something I've really enjoyed about this show is that they have not changed the entrada at all. I can't stand when they change the opening credits on me.
What am I saying? It's a TN. Never mind.
I never heard about an extension, but who knows. This tn did well in Mexico, so the length wasn't a problem there.
Nat got Irene & Tad so Brigitte gets the Cáceres name and social standing. That is unless Rod kills her first. No way is Brigitte's father a nice guy.
Diego acted like an overeager boy. I thought post coital he would ask her if it was as good for her as it was for him.
As much as I dislike Brig, she has some valid reasons for her fears and concerns. Diana was married, rich and the father wanted the child. She just didn't want to lose her figure and her party privileges.
