Lo Que La Vida Me Robo, Capitulo 167, 3 July, 2014 - 'The Sting'
Labels: robo
Happy 4th of July! This entire recap is a high-focus look at Graciela Mendoza.
This will be fun to recap.
Best to all,
Elna June
Could you please tell me when you will post the recap on July 4th? I missed some of the episode and would like to read your recap before seeing Friday's show. I live on the East Coast but believe you must live on the West Coast.
Love all your recaps and the great comments generated by your faithful bloggers.
It should be up by mid-day my time (PST). You are right, I live in California.
Happy Independence Day to you and we'll see you tomorrow!
Best Wishes,
Elna June
I can hardly wait for your wonderfully crafted recap. Happy Fourth of July to you too!
And it seems someones car gets blown up,hopefully its not Robledos and that Graciela is in that car. Or Pedro wrecking chaos on Adolfo for shooting him. Ah well there goes my peaceful daily cup of coffee in Aguazul, tommorow.
Happy Independence Day!
Elna June,
Looking forward to your recap. I'm sure it will be splendid.
All I have to say is Gracie is one manipulative BITCH! She will absolutely do anything for money. She is as obsessed with money as BM is with Ale. I hope Montse realizes that her mother is up to something. I do know that Fabby is a lost cause. She will do anything to keep from being alone again. I pretty much guessed what Gracie's plan was once she went to see Fabby the day after. And Fabby fell right into Gracie's hands. That smirky and evil look on Gracie's face gave me chills.
I want to say more, but don't want to ruin it for those who haven't seen the capitulo yet.
On a side note. When I checked my guide I saw that Univision is airing two games on Friday. So if you are recording the episode, you might need to record extra time in case those games go long.
Off to bed...hasta pronto!
Her fall is going to be hard. If she's still alive at the end of this story she needs to be in prison (for the murder of Benjamin).
Alejandro's reaction to Monse's account of this is understandable and I hope they see a lawyer immediately.
your posts have spoilers disguised as guesses all over them. please dont ruin it for those that havent seen future episodes.
My son surprised me and showed up very late last night for the 4rth weekend. So excited, so I may not be able to check in until much later. All I can say is watching Gracelss last night was one of the most nauseating experiences in this TN. She actually made me feel sorry for Fabs. May she rot slowly alone and afraid, weeping her fake tears. She doesn't deserve a quick anvil.
Daisynjay
I haven't the foggiest idea what you are talking about. It never even occurred to me that JL might have helped Pedro escape. This is my first comment today and I've just now read the comments so far and am waiting for Elna June's recap before commenting about the episode.
Carlos
I don't think that MDA is sliding into criminality, but time will tell.
Sorry I confused you with CountxAlacran. I regret the mistake. But I hope you agree that it's too far fetched for MDJL to save Peddy.
I sheepishly admit the heat really got to me and after a very long day, kept dozing off.
I finally understood that Graciela was perpetuating a scam on Fab but did not get the details other than Fab looked radiant (foolish, foolish woman)
Carlos, like you, I did not understand what was mentioned about JL helping Pedro. I fervently hope this is not true...
Diana
When it comes to Strategic Thinking, this woman is masterful. She identifies and exploits each person's weakness to her advantage. All I could think was "well played, Graciela". We know all her machinations will come to naught in the end, so I'm just sitting back and enjoying each diabolical move that she makes. Incredible.
Happy Fourth everyone. As Diana said, many of our forebears died so we could enjoy growing up in this country. Many more have died or been maimed since so we could continue to be safe and free. Our peace rests on the shoulders of other people's sacrifice.
Amelia wants to bring down Pedro, so she will do what it takes. PURE speculation on my part, but you are on to something there, Novella lover.
It has been said that Graciela loves her children in her own way. After all of the machinations she did last night, someone is going to have to show me the money.
At one point, I had to walk away as I could not take Castro's voice much longer. The phony tears and act were getting on my nerves.
Kudos to Montserrat. She held her own.
I kept expecting Pedro to pop up out of nowhere sort of like Freddy Krueger. It was that expectation that had me on edge last night.
I am really wondering what the writers have in store for Graciela's anvil.
Fatima
I didnt like Fab at all, but I actually felt bad to think that Graciela will druve her to suicide. I hope that the law finds G guilty of conspiracy of transferring those funds that did not belong to Fab, but to Ale. Then again, maybe Fab is truly her mothers daughter and it is her way of bringing Graciela down with her too. What bothers me alot is the fact that Graciela says she spent hours asking God to guide her, when in fact she was practically sweating blood hashing up scheme how she could make herself look like she was sacrificing herself for her children and STILL get the money for herself. Disgusting person, Pedro is a eunich, and I recall they were often very very mean way back in history.
Second,no it cant be Amelia, she wouldnt step that low and she did not really mean it,the whole reason why she married him was to gather intel .And the reason why Amelia talked to Pedro few nights ago was an effort to try calming him down..And besides when the shooting was going on,Amelia was talking to Gracie and Fabiola( Unless the time flow in Aguazul is really weird and the scene happened one hour after the shooting)
Third ,how funny Fatima a few days ago i was remincing on Freddy Krueger when i was mocking Pedro! Pedro must be Peddy Krueger or something there is no way that a being like him is from this world! He is extremely evil,he must have been born from the deepest pits of hell.
Demetrios, I have no idea why Freddy Krueger came to my mind last night, but he did! Pedro is going to pop up when we least expect it and someone is going to get hurt.
Fatima
I think some folks are confused because you are really Demetrios but changed name are going by CountAlacran and people think you used to be Carlos.
No, Amelia would not stoop so low to "help " Pedro. I understand her motives for marrying him, to gather intel against him. I meant if it was her, it would be to continue her plan. Hehe...i even wondered for split second if it was Padre. Me thinks too much about this novela.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful weekend.
Diana
Fatima
Judy B., I am right there with you in reference to the masterful moves of Graciela. She is a genius! It was so hard to hear her wail and bawl one more time and see her ingratiate herself to Montse and Fabiola just to get what she wants. She was so smooth as she snookered Fabiola in wanting Fabiola to "click" as her fortune was transferred to Graciela's account that you almost forgot it was all an act.
Here is hoping that Pedro is found and suffers some more before he meets his end. Sure loved the slap Montse gave to María. Maybe María can share a cell with Fabiola if anyone ever notices that she is dangerous. Of course, Fabiola may be on the road off traveling with Graciela . . . sure. At least Nadia and Victor know Pedro is on the loose and that they need to be careful with Victoria--at least we hope they are thinking that and not just opening doors to unknown visitors actually and figuratively.
Jarifa
Fabiola is not going to let Graciela say "no" to this "trip". I wonder how Graciela is going to show "her love" for Fabiola on this trip? If I were Fabiola, I think I would be getting worried right about now.
Fatima
The first half of the recap in up. The Second half is simmering on the grill.
Second half will be out when it is medium rare.
Enjoy!
EJ
I apologize and will hold further comment until the recap is up. I just wasn't thinking.

Super writing on this first half. I was stunned when the good Admiral placed all of those conditions on EZ Basura. For once, EZ couldn't think his way out of it. He was stuck. High Five to the good Admiral!!!
elna june, I can't wait for your second half!!!
Fatima
Elna June, Part One was masterful. The Set Up, the Marks, the Patsy, The Con - were perfect.
"Niccolo Machiavelli, rise from your dusty grave and take notes! Even you could learn from this mistress of deception", "Graciela dramatically posits—there is no way to save them both".
I will have to wait until Part Two to see exactly what happened but your "her enemies, acquaintances and, sadly, yes, her children. But this confidence scheme was breathtaking in its audacity. It was awesome, truly awesome in its ruthlessness" has me intrigued and worried. For the first time, I felt for Fabiola but will wait to comment.
Robledo has put the screws to EZ so to speak. Is this the beginning of the end for he and Carlota??
Marvelous Elna June.
"The first half of the recap iS up. The Second half is simmering on the grill."
My appetite was whetted by your excellent appetizer, looking forward to the main course.
Diana
Second half will be out when it is medium rare
This part one is fabulous, a sparkling jewel! I knew it would be carefully crafted!
Ay, yi, yi, Gracie and her con, it was perfection I must say. Poor Monse and Fabs, I did feel very sorry for them both. They just have no idea how bad of a Mama they have. Especially Monse, she ought to know already.
So glad that kiss of JL and Maria was not mutual. It was hurlworthy I must say!
I think of Mac as a carefully controlled spigot at some points. He really did keep that secret of Fabs for so very long, and the will not as long, but he did tell Monse at a good time.
I'm surprised EZ gave up as much as he did.
I am so looking forward to your part two, Elna June.
disappeared which was I expect the recap to be just as juicy and delicious as you indicated!
Diana
After last night, I think this is her one true love. Urban has also postulated that Graciela has money stashed overseas accounts.
I wonder how many millions Graciela will be worth once everything is said and done.
When I think of a con artist, I think of someone who can charm the socks right off of you. I could be missing it altogether, but I have never found Graciela charming...not even with Sandho was so eager to get in her bed.
She is just one smart bully.
Fatima (who is going crazy watching the footballers today!)
Feliz compleanos to our stars!
And it would be hilarious if Fabs trip turned out to be a quick stop at a Internat ,then Gracie would leave her there ,laughing now that shes got all of Fabiolas sweet money!
Also Elna many thanks for the recap!
Thanks so much for the funny, detailed, and wonderfully written recap. I really enjoyed reading it. I especially loved how you analyzed and described Gracie's scheme.
Hope you are having a good holiday!
Best,
Julia R.
I take back any kind, forgiving thought (silent or uttered) I ever had regarding Graciela. Although I never had sympathy for Fabiola until last night, her happy, joyous face made me choke back tears. Graciela is a monster.
I am very afraid for Adolfo. I'm sure he is worried for himself but more so for Fina, Nadia and Victoria. Why didn't he empty his gun into Pedro??
Where is Pedro and who helped him?
Thank you for the excellent details Elna June. I appreciate you giving so generously of your time today.
Diana
Gracie really enjoyed this whole thing, didn't she? Soon both her daughters will be feeling like prize fools.
Alejandro can probably manage without the cash for a while until they trace its path, but Gracie's anvil will be huge with a lot of hot sauce on it. I've had lots of ideas about what it will be, but we can discuss that when the Karmageddon discussion goes up.
Which may be sooner than I originally planned.
Maria gets more disgusting all the time. I think she's trying now to get MDA to go after Monse and Alejandro again. I am still not understanding why Adolfo still enables her. If he has any remorse over killing Monica he should try paying that back by protecting Monserrat from Maria.
Two things: one, I'm super embarrassed to say that I did not see Graciela's plan coming together at all. She had me snowed.... anyone got a bridge they want to sell me in Brooklyn?
Second, why does everyone assume that Peddy had help? I cannot imagine one person on this TN that would have any reason whatsoever to lift a finger to help him. Plus, it's a bit scarier if he's out there on his own because there is almost no one in the story that he doesn't want dead. What am I missing? Maybe he shot high and Peddy laid low till Adolfo left? Finally, why the HECK didn't Adolfo take him out the same way he took out Monica?
Have a happy fourth!!!
Rebecca
Your mention of Machiavelli reminded me of a tour I took some years ago through the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence. I was startled to see Machiavelli's tomb in a place of honor (among those of giants such as Michelangelo and Galileo) and even more by this Latin inscription: Tanto Nomini Nullum Par Eligium (For such a name, no praise is equal.) I took the tour guide aside and tried to sound her out, as delicately as I could, on how Italians thought of Machiavelli. I got the impression that he was known and celebrated for his brilliance. Being called "Machiavellian" would hardly be an insult. I suspect that Graciela herself would be gratified by being mentioned in the same breath as her paisano, Niccolo.
What a delightful recap, EJ. I loved your the way you set out "The Sting" for us in all its glory. Thank you for this firecracker of a Fourth of July write-up.
Diana,
"I am very afraid for Adolfo."
Really? I think we need to have a talk... :)
As you pointed out, Fabiola ends up thinking the scheme is entirely hers. And doesn't wonder why Graciela is conveniently carrying around her bank account number with her.
I also enjoyed watching Graciela working Montserrat by calling "mi niño de oro". Good way to soften her up before setting in the first stepping stone of the scheme.
Masterful in every way. The woman's talents are wasted. She needs to be going for total world domination.
No, I'm not heartless. The Telenovela Gods will not let Graciela get away with this. But it was great theater, and the recap was great writing. Thank you, our wise Elna June.
And yes, little Laurito's froggie green glasses were most unfortunate.
So had some time now to myself to catch your fantastic recap EJ! What a gem. Your 'Sting" method truly gave all the horrid machinations of Graceless the right background. What an insipid woman. So might the Tasteless One and her Bad Hair Daughter really fly the coop together, or will she take a powder all alone. I can't see how she can stick around now. Lord, can you see Graceless in Paris? The poor French.
Daisynjay
As soon as Gracie flies the coop someone will figure out where the money went. The judge should call Interpol because he still suspects her of not disclosing the entire truth of the original fraud.
And there is the matter of Sandro. By now somebody should know that he never made it to Miami.
NovelaMaven, VERY interesting, VERY interesting. :)

Speaking for my own self, I do not marvel at Graciela's intelligence and con work, but see it as the eptiome of evil at work.
I wonder how long Gracie will actually be away because Pedro is still looking to collect some favor from her over sending The Cleaner to the crime scene. She no longer has the wig, sunglasses, dress, and pistol. She now would have to consider the possibility that Fabiola will still try to accuse Monse of killing Sandro.
On the other hand, does she really care about that except for the gossip?
Madelaine, I too was disgusted by that kiss, although I'm guessing, for a quite different reason.
I'm looking forward to EZ coming clean to Carlota... that should be very interesting. I'm a bit annoyed at Robleda's smug self-righteousness... he certainly is no paragon of virtue. And as for him getting together with Carlota, I'm doubting that he will be nearly as attentive and as much fun as EZ. Maybe she should check with the ex-Mrs. Robleda.
Carlos
I joked that Machiavelli was a "paisano" or countryman of Gracie's because we have been given to understand that her family is of Italian descent. Certainly her family name (Giacinti) is Italian.
Fabiola Guillén probably bears the surname of Anastasia Almonte's husband. I don't know anything about the name "Guillén" -- I guess I just assumed it was Spanish.
I hope that makes some sense. :)
I just hope that the driverless Tundra was in no way involved in Pedro's escape.
Maybe because of his blood scent he got captured by one of the fangbangers from True Blood and now is in Bontemps Louisiana waiting to be eaten.
Machiavelli on steroids, that's what Gracie is.
Rebecca and Carlos, don't worry, you are not alone. I totally bought into Graciela's bs. For a moment I thought, could she really be heading toward some sort of redemption? At the precise moment she admitted to conveniently having her bank info with her, (something I never carry with me) it hit me like a load of bricks.
This woman is truly a great manipulator. I felt so sorry for Fabiola. She indeed looked so happy. I wonder if she and Gracie will take off somewhere or if she will be left with empty hands. Also, Montse seemed to be having some pity for her last night, as her mom recounted all of her suffering. I wonder what Alejandro's reaction will be when he finds out that Fabs is his sister.
Well, I'm off to light fireworks with the kiddos, looking forward to tonight's episode and the recap and comments that will follow.
Maricruz
Urban Anthropologist:
"Hey, Oxnard, what do you think those fangbangers will think when they realize they caught a capon?
A capon is good eating. The vamps might be disappointed with the lack of an appetizer, so to speak.
Gracie is a heartless wonder. When she breathes her last breath will her ill gotten gains comfort her ? I think not. She is a Disney villain for sure.
Oxnard...Your reference to Undead Ped in the Tundra gave me a giggle.
Thank you for this most marvelous part II of your recap.
Ohh, the Admiral wants EZ to give up being Mayor of Aguazul? EZ sure didn't like that.
I'm glad Ale got the original will back.
I agree with Susanlynn, all the money in the world will not comfort Gracie in the end. I hope Gracie goes to prison in the end for all the fraud and mayhem she has caused. May her anvil be huge!
Thanks again Elna June for this masterful retelling of this episode.
Sorry I am so late to comment. I hope you get this message. I wasn't able to read your recap until late. I unfortunately had to work on Friday, so it was a regular work day for me. Anyhoo, I wanted to thank you for the splendid recap. It was a true pleasure to read.
