Que Pobres Tan Ricos #128: 7/3/14: And The Oscar Goes To Mini!
Hola Amiguis! It has now been five days since we have seen Dona Mati, I am keeping count until she reappears, and hopefully that is soon. Tonight was very farcical with the Mini testimony and I have an earworm for just that: The Show Must Go On! I am going to condense, things may not be in order and I am trying to make it short. Enjoy your 4th of July and the long weekend Amiguis!
We start with Mini reading that letter that MA wrote to Lupe and what is Mini gonna do? Isela has a deal for Ahole, he puts the properties, one is the house, in Mini's name. Ahole tells Mini, do what I tell you and you got it!
Lupe and Don C talk. She hasn't heard from MA in ages. Don C tells her to have faith. No one knows how long this trial will take.
Emi calls Ahole and tells him about the sh*tty stunt he pulled to keep Lupe at home. Ahole is very proud of his boy.
We are now at the trial. Saul and MA are having a chat. Mini is all ready to testify. Lupe, Leo and Frida are all there too, along with Vilma, keeping a stink eye on Saul and MA. The Judge tells Mini to concentrate, and she starts the spiel about how she and MA had this glorious, passionate, pornographic time at the country house. MA rolls his eyes. Mini and MA heard some strange noise outside. Lupe is about to say something, but Leo holds her back. Gist of Mini's testimony, Mini and MA have a torrid love thingy going on like Romeo and Juliet but nobody dies. It's a romance like the movies very passionate, the Judge is sick of it already! Lupe is pithed, Leo and Frida roll their eyes as Vilma keeps careful watch. Also Bambi and Adolfo are brought up. Well Mini starts the speil about the Bambi movie, that's the only Bambi she knows. Lupe remembers the fireworks at La Nopalera, when she and MA were on the roof and that kiss, and Lupe leaves the courtroom, she's had enough. Mini also says that MA is incapable of having Ahole shot or Adolfo for that matter. Mini does let slip that Ahole and Adolfo knew each other, but backtracks and now the Judge asks about MA and Adolfo. Mini cries, also Saul questions Mini and asks about the fraud. Mini claims she has a Teflon brain, just forgets things and doesn't want to be a Mata Hari. The Judge is done with Mini and she is allowed to approach MA who is none to pleased with her performance.
Agente, Top Cop, Chavez is working when his assistant comes in with pictures of guess who? Vilma and Adolfo. From this Agente Chavez thinks there is more than meets the eye here, and wonders if Vilma and Adolfo were involved in the fraud.
Lupe has left the courtroom and runs into Ahole, who does the same spiel about MA being a fraudster and a liar, and leading Lupe on. Ahole tells her to open her eyes. Lupe now thinks Ahole and MA are the same type of scuzzy guy and goes.
Nepo is doing his juice sale numbers when Guendy comes to see him and do some smoochies with him. Guendy tells him she heard some chismes (gossip) that Nepo went to the trial and spoke highly of MA. That just floats her boat, so to speak. Nepo is still miffed at her for springing Diego on him, but she tells him to have some patience. Nepo is still going on about Diego being gay, and he still thinks that Diego can change. Guendy has had enough of the Agro (aggrivation) and goes.
There is a summit in the Fonda kitchen with AS and Carmelita. AS gives Carm a recipe for ratatouille, which is a wonderful dish of eggplant, zucchini, onion, green bell pepper and tomatoes, cooked in a bit of extra virgin olive oil and topped with grated Parmesano/Reggiano. Carm is pleased and would like to give AS her recipe for Mole de Olla, but AS couldn't be bothered. AS goes and Carm really can't stand her, Don C comes and tells Carm to give AS a break, cause right now AS has alot on her plate, what with MA being on trial. I am assuming that Don C is off to Tomas' Mama's house, cause Carm has a chuckle when he goes.
AS is in the Penthouse clutching the RP photo, you know the one, with Frida, Leo, MA and AS holding Da Vinci. Carm comes to see her with a bidnez propostion. Carm suggests they can share the kitchen. AS can do the gourmet stuff and Carm will do the traditional Mexican dishes, how about it? AS says nothing and Carm tells her to think about it, as she goes. AS sits there and cries holding that picture.
Saul and MA have another chat and MA wants to know que the hell was that with Mini? Ahole still hasn't been accused and Lupe just left. Saul palm passes MA his cell phone. This can't be good. Of course, with his back to the guards, MA calls Lupe, who he gets to talk to for all of five seconds, all he gets out is he wants to tell her, while she says she isn't beleiving him and the guard takes the phone. Oh, noes, MA is in trouble, cause the guard is gonna tell the Judge that Saul palmed the phone to MA. It's illegal in the joint.
Leo and Frida are sitting right behind Mini and Islea. They think Mini is crazy, and MA is telling Saul he wasn't able to tell Lupe anything.
Ahole comes into the court room and smirks.
Meanwhile Emi is in school being teased by those kids again, about his Papa, MA, being in jail. He tries to explain that MA is just Mama's friend, but the boys keep egging him on, saying that Lupe is involved with both men, MA and Ahole. Emi fights the main kid bullying him. Lupe gets a call to come pick up Emi. He's been suspended from school for fighting. Lupe asks Emi how this started, well it had to do with Emi's Papa in jail, not Ahole, but MA. When they get home, Lupe talks to him and he blames this fight on MA and the kids bullying him. Lupe wants to know why he never said anything and they go.
Now it's Ahole's turn to testify and he sticks to his lie that MA and Adolfo defrauded El Editorial. They have been against Ahole for a long time. Saul presents some evidence. I think Saul brings up the money transfers but Ahole says there is a mistake. Ahole says Adolfo did this without his knowledge and now MA wants to question Ahole with Saul and the Judge present.
MA tells the Judge that Adolfo, Ahole and Bambi were in this together. Ahole calls that a lie, but MA brings up the fact, he is totally broke, so where is this money he supposedly defrauded? Ahole thinks when MA was in London, he squirrled that money somehwere. Ahole claims he only wanted to help MA. When Saul brings up the evidence he has of those money transfers with Bambi and Adolfo and it came from the computer, which Vilma says was stolen from her office. Well, well, Vilma is sticking her foot in it. It's her computer after all. The Judge goes to think about the result of this trial. Frida and Leo are allowed to speak to MA.
Tizoc has a meeting with his new Agent Charlie, and two other guys. They know his Hippy is Nice song, but don't think he is all that, until Tizoc drops Ahole's name again. They become like toadies and will do everything they can to make him famous.
Don C comes to Emi's room for a chat. Emi is rude to him, and Don C calls him on it. He tells Emi you will respect your Mama, me and everyone else. Emi tells Don C he was just defending himself and the kids think or Emi thinks that Lupe is the girlfriend of both RPs, Ahole and MA. Don C tells him that certainly isn't true. Don C gave him some advice I didn't catch, and Emi ends up hugging Don C and crying.
Mini and Isela are at home and Mini is crowing about her romantic and passionate performance. Mini gives Isela that letter that MA wrote to Lupe and Isela thinks it's a hoot, like a letter in a TN. They have a good chuckle and Mini takes it from Isela and is gonna save it. Ahole comes to visit and he assures Mini, with this performance to have patience and he will put those properties in Mini's name. The next thing Ahole cares about is fulfilling that Grandfather clause.
Don C goes down to the Fonda kitchen and sees AS and Carm and congrats them on the detente they have come to. I think AS wants to be paid for her contribution to the menu and the things she cooks. Frida comes and can't beleive AS is in the kitchen. She tells AS that Leo is off teaching his artuki class and asks for Lupe. Carm I think tells her about Emi is in trouble.
Frida and Tizoc meet up and talk about their days. He's now happy with his career path and Frida goes to talk to Lupe.
Meanwhile, Emi is giving Ahole the chisme about the fight and how he defended his Mama. Ahole says he isn't mad at Emi, and will teach him venganza, in other words, how to get those boys back when they least expect it.

Happy Fourth, Madlaine and everybody! Madlaine, thank you for another marvelous recap to enjoy this a.m. before I hit some early sales!!
Well, the malentendidos have started and are having their desired effect when a devastated Lupe left the trial after hearing Minerva say that MA had told her that the fireworks were a sign that she(Minerva) and he were supposed to be together. Evidently he had written about the earlier experience he had with Lupe and the fireworks in La Nopalera in the stolen letter that Minerva has. So, without seeing the letter, Lupe thinks that it was nothing special but just a "line" he even used with Minerva.
My favorite exchange was when Minerva said she must have been Mata Hari in a previous life and the judge reminded her that Mata Hari had been executed for being a traitor.
Carmelita following don Chuy's advice to cut AS some slack had a good idea that she and AS cook and come up with an original dish together. Well, they did create a wonderful new dish together that everyone just loved and sold out. Of course each one had to try to best the other with her particular contribution to the dish in front of don Chuy.
Don Chuy sure came to the rescue with Emiliano by lecturing him, explaining defending himself and his family, and by finding out that Emiliano is afraid because he doesn't know who he is going to end up living with if his mom gets married. As usual, don Chuy was a great comfort. I really like his character. Looks like there is hope for Emiliano if he can just be removed from Alejo's influence.
I did not like José Tizoc throwing around Alejo's name with the music producers. He is getting a big head again.
Alejo calling Emiliano and telling him he would have never punished him, was proud of him and that he would help him get revenge on his classmates was the lowest of the low. I am already dreaming of his "anvil".

Thank you Mads and Jarifa. Love to follow your comments. Arturo Peniche (Nepo) is a wonderful actor in my opinion. He can be very nuanced in roles that are a little less over the top.

Thanks Madelaine, another yucky episode filled with misunderstanding and lying. But Alejo is very good at sounding believable. I almost believe him, he sounds so convincing.
I thought that when they were starting to accuse Vilma of the fraud, that her defense was that her laptop was stollen and that the info on it implicating her was possibly put on it by whoever stole it. I would be very surprised if the judge sides with MA after what's been heard so far.

Thanks Mads and Jarifa! yes, that fireworks comment was the thorn that hurt the deepest, since Lupe thought that line was 'theirs and theirs only from their first kiss'. So that hurt extra hard.
I am sure that this will separate MA and Lupe for a few weeks. or at least a few days. if MA is found guilty it might be weeks. If he is set free, she won't want to even talk to him, but she sure put A-hole in his place, didn't she? I loved his face like 'well! i thought i had done enough but Lupe is a harder bone to chew than even I had imagined!' when she just brushed him off as one of the two brothers out of the same stone.
Hopefully we will see good enough anvils for Mini and A-hole. I really want them to be locked up together for a long time so they can drive each other up the wall.
