Mi Corazón es Tuyo Lunes 7/21/14 Gran Estreno
¡Qué rico! |
Clashing wardrobe = clashing values? |
If this is what nannies are supposed to dress like they need a union rep. |
Their dad came down the stairs apologising to the departing nanny. He tried to tell her that his kids are “just a little mischievous, but they're good kids.”
Captain von Trapp is not amused. |
Jennifer started to panic. When she got near the door she argued with Ana, who tried to get her out. She fell into the water.
She pulled her to the surface, shouted for help, and the emergency workers came to their aid. They placed Jennifer on a gurney, pressed on her chest and she spat out some water. Ana hugged her, babbling her relief through her tears.
Fanny has a future in advertising. |
A villain who will probably do pratfalls |
¡Qué labios rojos tiene! |
At that realization she took her cigarettes out of her bag and hid the pack in the seat cushions.

SN really did her work in learning the pole. I thought she would just be doing stuff upright on the lower half of the pole. Impressive enough to me. But when she was doing the upside down stuff, high up on the pole, I was astonished. No wonder she looks so muscular and sinewy.
They really released a Biblical plague on Ana tonight-- flood, fire, destruction, heartbreak, betrayal, and a deal with the devil. After this, those wild bunch of children should be a breeze.
Wow, Sylvia is quite athletic....great upper body strength to hang upside down on that pole. She puts Maria AND Esme to shame.
The guy playing bad Johnny is the host of the Sunday night Bailando show.
I think the actress in the villain role (who is usually the good girl leading lady'h will make a formidable villain.
It's just that a few things about this episode made this many necessary, esp since it's a Gran Estreno.
I'm a bit of a stranger on the Univision side of Caray Caray, as I usually watch Telemundo shows. Thanks so much for your detailed and witty recap! I watch with Spanish subtitles and sometimes don't get it all. Your screenshots were a-maz-ing!

If that was really Silvia Navarro working that pole and not a stunt double, I'm impressed.
Fanny must've called up Nickelodeon and ordered some green slime for the nanny.
The first minute I saw her peep-toes I knew Isabela was trouble.
SN truly was on the pole, she took lessons for many weeks before filming started. And she was pretty good, actually.
I think the set up has been good so far, but I'm not sold on the comedy part, yet, maybe because I've never considered Televisa to be particularly good at comedy.
But the original Spanish version of this show had some decent funny moments (I remember watching with my mom when I was about Fanny's age and laughing out loud), so hopefully we'll get some of that, too.
I'm having a hard time seeing Rene Casados in such a role, but the rest of the cast seems to be pretty well chosen.
I may have a few problems with this one because of certain elements of Televisa comedy such as slang. Not that I think there will be that much compared to UFCS.
Unlike Fernando Colunga, Jorge Salinas has done comedy without getting uncomfortable with it. Colunga is two years older than he is, so he should have cut his teeth on something like this, but he doesn't seem to take to it. It also looks like this is the first time that JS is playing the father of teens, which has to be a milestone for him.
BTW, his birthday is this Sunday. He will be 46, which is still not being in one's dotage.
On to other issues...
I agree that Nando and Fanny don't need a governess. In some ways they are both like typical firstborns: He's intellectually precocious and she's a natural leader. However, it would not be right for them to take on too much responsibility for their younger sibs.
These kids will also definitely balk at the idea of a stepmother despite Fernando's typical hands-off parenting. I hate that men were able to get away with that for so much of history.
I wonder if Nicolas lives with them.
Rene Casados has never been afraid of broad comedy. He will be amusing to watch.
So happy to have Silvia gracing my TV screen. Something about how she approaches her characters is so enjoyable to watch. Ana is definitely a bit different from recent roles, but I got a kick out her last night. Thank goodness for recappers though, I always am amazed at how fast she can talk when she really gets into things.
But gees, talk about having a real bad day. Like living through a day of biblical plagues; floods, fire, a cheating jerk. Of course, she has to make a deal with a devil so we can have our intrigue through the story.
But man, I can see why he wants her locked to a contract. UA, you thought exactly the same as I did last night. As soon as she started that routine I thought "Now THAT'S Pole dancing"--not that anemic version Esme and Maria try to call what they do.(Sorry non-Robo watchers, but it's a bone of contention for his Robo patriots). And that is Sylvia doing the dancing...I read she really learned the moves and worked at it. I was greatly impressed.
As for the kids, somewhat predictable and making each one a bit of a stereotype is sort of clichéd, but I'll hold judgement until the story unfolds. Heck, most comedies tend to bring in the clichés, but if done ok, can deal with them. I agree, the two oldest don't need a nanny, but in general, the younger ones do, so they get lumped into the mix. I don't think Fanny will be "evil", more a rebellious teen, maybe bordering on a mean girl...nothing that some love and attention can't fix. Or I'm guessing the love of a gorgeous young man. And little Luz, a total heartbreaker. I think watching Jorge hugging his kids is something I can get into.
Rene--always a win!

I did, but this site has been behaving oddly since yesterday. It wasn't updating the number of comments as quickly as usual.
loved every line but here is my fav:
'she slapped him hard and talked him even harder...'
Vivi, I thought the same about poor Ana's fate that day/night. Biblical plague is right!
SN did show her hard work on the pole. Add me to those impressed by her dedication.
Little Luz seemed to have lost her speech when her mom died... that is why her dad is so sad and praying she will someday again call him Papa and ask him to read a story to her.
So at least three people whispered or told Fernando in his face that he needed to re-visit his priorities (work vs family).
UA, one little thing... when the bus entered the tunnel, the cars passing by were going in reverse, they were getting away from the flooded bottom of the tunnel... but the passengers that did not exit the bus were urging the driver to give it a try...
Also, seems Jennifer does not know how to swim, that is why Ana was yelling at her to hold on to her as they were exiting the bus and that is also why Ana was so panicky when Jennifer went underwater.
Poor Ana... not only the Biblical plague, but she said two things that will come back to bite her... one did already (she said her house was open for everyone) little did she know the water was going to cause a major fire (maybe aided by a lightning strike?) and also told Johnny that she wanted seven kids... and Fernando has seven kids already!
and yes, JS has the same birthday as me, July 27. i will be a little older than him though.
I am still holding hopes high for Rene's role here... esp when Isabel moves in and tries to harm Ana.
There definitely was a lightning strike that Ana wouldn't have seen in the bus.
I forgot to comment on this earlier but not only am I impressed with Silvia's ability on the pole, it's combined with those dominatrix boots! Don't mess with this chick!
"But why the hell is she wearing Hooker Pink? Is that a condition that actresses who play heroines have to put up with all the time?]", "a pendant to emphasize his pecs" and "Her silence was as painful as their loss" were among my favorites.
"Biblical plague" was spot on Vivi. A multitude of heartbreak.
And Rene is always a sight for sore eyes, right daisy?
I'm with Cassandra in that I liked what I saw last night, but I'm not too sure about the comedy aspect. Haven't really liked any of Televisa's comedies (I'm not including Gancho in that which I loved).
Just a side note, I actually went on a family vacation to VT to the Trapp Family lodge and met Maria von Trapp (I belive I was around 10 so it must have been 1965). I remember her strong handshake and kind eyes but not much else.
Welcome J!
UA, fabulous.
Diana
Does anyone know what the lullaby was that Ana's mom was singing to her in the flashback? I thought it was really beautiful and that the singer had a lovely voice. I wonder who will end up being Ana's mom, and did she abandon her little daughter?
and I also agree that her mother will make an appearance... wonder who will play her.
Do we have any indication that Fernando was always obssd with his business or is it just since his wife died?
Urban- I meant to say nice job working in the reference to Labios Rojos-- SN and JS's movie together. :)
I suspect somewhere down the road there will be a catfight between Ana and Isabel.
A few thoughts:
I had to suspend a lot of belief with a professional bus driver driving through standing water into a tunnel in a storm.
Then we have the gangster looking owner of "Chicago" with his gangster looking posse. Will the Capone connection ever die?
I loved the Fernando voiceover talking about what he wants in a nanny as Ana danced.
No "Avon " this time; Fernando works for "La Costeña".
Looks like Johnny is on his way out so Ana will be free for all sorts of new entanglements.
All in all, it looks like this could be a cute one. Will have to hit and miss until LQLVMR ends.
Jarifa
What is bothering me now is what will replace LQLVMR? Please, not another comedy.
If this show is to mimic The Sound of Music, then Liesel, the oldest, was 16. Remember the song 'I am 16 going on 17...' The oldest boy was Fredrik and was I think, 14. And Liesel thought she was too old for a nanny too. So Maria just became friends with them. I encourage everyone who hasn't seen that musical to watch it. It's really entertaining.
Also mimicing the show was the father becoming a workaholic after the mother died. It was too painful for him to be home without her there, so he wasn't there that much.
The part that was most confusing to me, watching it, was *WHY IN THE HECK DID THE BUS DRIVER PLUNGE RIGHT INTO A FLOODED TUNNEL?!?!* It isn't like they couldn't tell there were problems. Other cars were trying to back up, and they were stuck there and looking at other cars and the deep water before they kept going. It wasn't like they were the only vehicle on the road and driving fast and didn't see the flood until it was too late. What was the button that the bus driver kept pushing?
The kids seem entertaining other than He Who Must Not Be Named, Smarmbag of Infinite Dimension from PEAM.
But now that the wife is gone, he might have even increased his distance by thinking keeping busy with work will make the loss hurt less...
I'm glad that he is so loving with them when he's around, at least the youngest one. Those were very sweet scenes between him and Luz. I loved the second scene best when she was smiling, than the first when she was crying silently. Did he ever think of taking the kids to a child psychologist?
I am thinking this will be a great novela. I also love who they chose as the "bad girl".
I am glad the Father is considering a nanny as it is not up to the older siblings to take on the role of a parent. I am excited for tonight's episode.
Thank you for the recap
-Kat
. [But why the hell is she wearing Hooker Pink? Is that a condition that actresses who play heroines have to put up with all the time?]
You started with that and the smart azz comments just kept rolling. I love the new UA! We've had the Edith Wharton, and the "roman noir" and now the smart and sassy UA appears. Who knew? Enjoyed it greatly. Thanks.
Have yet to watch this but read about Silvia's diligent practice at pole dancing and am preparing to be Very Impressed.
1 The whole idea and Osorio behind it. This is copy of ANA AND THE SEVEN, from Spain, which idea we all know came from The sound of music
2 Osorio's kid
3 Carmelita Salinas
4 Ugly queen and king (Morayra and Buenfil, both from PEAM)
5 Nacaranda, Nacasia and Vítor
6 Osorio's idea of what comedy is
7 The obnoxious kids
8 Did I mention 0sorio's kid?
9 La Costeña product placement (I am sure from now on all his Telenovelas will have place in real busine$$es- caching!)
10 The way René Casados talk
I agree with you on Osorio's kid. Only saw him in PEAM and didn't need to see him again. But so far they've kept his smarm to a minimum. Too many other kids to compete with. :)
I am a masochist!
I love to hate this TN because I saw Ana and the 7 and want to compare.
I know is like ripe pears and rotten apples, but imagine that ''Ana'' is not all that, so I am sure the pool is probably drying out and now you have too look beyond other TN to make your copies from.. Anyways, get ready to see Osorio's kid in everything he produces from now on.
Having a Dad that produces TN: Pricele$$!!
Although this TN overlaps with SULEIMAN (Mundofox) I will try to watch as much as I can, so feel free to tell your people to contact my people! LOL!
... but still it is Fernando's ultimate responsibility to provide the parenting, not hers. So I hope Ana fills in the mom's shoes as much as she can... and the kids can go back to be kids...
I tried to add the tag to the post, but I'm getting an error message.
I generally love comedies but I have major reservations about this. Kids are fun for me but those we were presented with last night were alternatively overly precious then unbearably unruly and desperately in need of a strong hand, or perhaps seven well-fitted cute little straight jackets.
Also, I saw Labios Rojos and while it had a few cute moments (especially Silvia with the lusty witch doctor), I didn't really detect much chemistry between the two main characters. I hope that it is better here.
I join the rest of you in your disappointment at seeing that posing preening prissy little boy from PEAM showing up in this. Too bad he wasn't the one cast as the speechless child.
Well, I was underwhelmed with the first few episodes of Gancho so I'll give this effort a fair chance.
Carlos
As for SN I could see the muscles in her arms and she has definitely been doing some weight training in there. Her jawline shows it too.
Couldn't believe how clueless Fernando was re: his "angelitos"--and he must have referred to those brats ten or fifteen times that way! Think I'm gonna take a swig of something everytime Daddy Fer calls them that.
--As for Fannie--she definitely rates a kick in hers for that paint stunt! (As does DadiFer for essentially letting her get away with it.)
Man Ana could sure teach a few things to Esme and BM from LQLVMR. I commend SN for all the hard work she has put in.
Again, thanks UA, great start.
Back to work...hasta pronto!
Ana 20ish? I don’t see that. She does not look 20anything. She looks more like early 30s which makes sense given her remark about her getting too old for her profession. Still, she is one of my favorite TN actresses. I saw her first in Cuando Me Enamoro. She has a specific style that is appealing. I was not impressed by the pole dancing scene because I automatically figured it was a stunt double, but what did impress me is how the “double’s” hair so closely resembled Ana’s own hair.
For some reason Hollywood, Mexico and others can spend thousands (and thousands) of dollars on the visual effects but when it comes to stunt doubles the hair always looks a bit off. After reading others’ comments I see that it indeed was her. Now I am impressed, not only by her ability on the pole but even more of her willingness to go beyond the acting by doing her own dance routines. We’ll be lucky if we get to see one or two more of them.
The kids were too ho-hum for me. Each personality trait seems to have been taken from a recipe book. I’ve seen this plot one too many times. Overboard with Goldie Hawn comes to mind, Are We There Yet also (even if the gender role is reversed). Still, all the elements are there for a compelling story. I tend to enjoy this type of story so even if the main story has been done before I would still watch this story.
Julia-ewww that's so disturbing!
PS:I may or may not have looked up pole dancing classes last night.
It barely, started so I can't say it's reeled me in 100% yet. I usually don't watch the comedies, they tend to get too goofy for me, but we'll see how this one goes.
So far my favorite was the food at the beginning of the show and you even got us a screen cap. My mouth was watering just looking at it all!
Also, along with my fellow LQLVMR bloggers, I have to agree that Esme and Maria need a few pointers from Ana. Kudos to Silvia for learning those moves!
Maricruz
I agree, Carlos, that there was no great chemistry between SN and JS in Labios Rojos, but it did show that these two can do comedy.
I do want to disagree just a little bit with you, UA, about Fernando Colunga. He has done comedy (Ladron Que Roba a Ladron) and been credible and funny. His comedic abilities depend, I think, on direction and script. He was certainly very awkward in the comedy he did with Blanca Soto. .

Urban,
What a great recap. I've never seen a comedy TN but this is one I think I'll stick with because I love Jorge Salinas and Silvia Navarro. The first episode has me hooked so far.
Thanks for doing double duty!
Esme and Maria should be ashamed of themselves for calling themselves "pole dancers". SN is it!!!!! What a body she sculpted for this novela.
