Que Pobres tan Ricos #134 A-hole sues Chuy about the Menchaca house. Emiliano continues to act A-holish. Saul tries to get MA to retake his old richy rich life... Chuy's mystery is revealed!! MAAAATIII!! MAAAATIII!!!
Refrito: MA seeing a different woman in wheelchair.
Lupe tells A-hole she’s not afraid of him. He asks if she will bring a wrestler to fight him. Lupe says she is enough on her own to fight with nails and teeth for her son. A-hole changes strategy and gets pleading, asks her to come be a family with him and Emiliano. Lupe is confused at his change of statement. A-hole tries to convince her that she is and will always be the most important for Emiliano. You have nothing to lose.
MA yelling at the staff at the senior center. The manager says he was given paperwork for the woman as Matilde widow of RP… MA is still outraged.
Saul is more calm and asks them who brought Mati in. Was it ARP? Nurse says ARP sent Mati, but the one that brought her was a nurse that used to work for us(the senior home) but quit recently.
Now A-hole is trying to make Lupe believe that she is unstable temper-wise… A-hole reminds Lupe that the school director is witness to Lupe losing her cool in front of Emiliano. (come on Lupe! Wake up and smell the rat!!) Emiliano comes over and is all lovey-dovey with A-hole. Lupe is just frozen there… she even lets Emiliano go alone with A-hole.(she is THAT shocked... about how well these two get together?).
At Fonda, AS is still whinning with herself about having come back to live in the 'cuchitril'. Leo and Frida outside the penthouse door are coaching each other to calm down before they walk in. Leo gives AS two options… we either 1) stay here or 2) we go to the shelter of the indigents(basically homeless shelter).
AS wants booze. Leo and Frida won’t give her any. Leo takes DaVinci on his arm and asks AS to breathe. AS takes DaVinci back and tells DaVinci that he is the only one that understands her. (I missed the detail that Leo told DaVinci that he needed to raise his hand/leg to speak LOL! thanks forum friends!)
MA and Saul out on the street, MA is really ansi, he has to find out NOW where abuela is.
At Fonda, Chuy does not like seeing Lupe so down in spirits. Lupe says lets talk about the finances… we have a lot of expenses and have to figure out where to get more moolah. She tells Tizoc he needs to go get a job and help out. Tizoc says he is only good for ‘the cantata’. Emiliano comes down. Lupe asks him what is up. Emiliano says ‘I am fed up with eating the same thing every day. Can’t we eat something different?’ Lupe is not liking at all seeing Emiliano talk like this, so asks him 'what do you prefer? To eat or not to eat?'

AS says MA could again share the Presidency of the Editorial with his cousin A-hole and that would bring us up to rank. Leo reminds AS that if A-hole gets to marry Lupe, he would fulfill the will clause and become the one and only owner of the company. AS says MA could do that too. Frida says since A-hole already has Emiliano, he could do it faster. AS says it is Lupe’s fault… it is a shame our lives are under that woman’s control.
Carm, Perla, Lupe and Chuy are still in Fonda kitchen… He is trying to defend AS, but the women are mocking him. Chuy claims he is a gentleman. Perla is still up in the clouds about her top model career. Emiliano asks her when she will learn to talk. Lupe rants at him that he should not talk like that to anyone. Chuy won’t let Lupe go after Emiliano when he runs up. Lupe is mad.
MA has gone to A-hole’s house. He is yelling for A-hole. Mini and Isela come to meet him. MA demands they tell him what happened the day he came out of jail. MA confronts Isela saying there were hands from someone other than Mini grabbing him from behind.
AS comes down to congratulate Lupe on her marriage to A-hole. Despite MA losing all his money, he could still fulfill the will clause marrying a woman who could give him a son. Lupe says she is in no hurry to help anyone fulfill the will clause. If you chill out about that, you would be more at peace. Excuse me.
Isela tells MA and Mini three’s a crowd and she is going to watch her favorite cop show. MA insists in asking Mini. She asks if he doesn’t remember. She took him to that beautiful vacation house… MA asks how come Lupe was there? He will find out exactly what happened there. He wants to leave but Mini won’t let him. She reminds him he used her to declare for him. She claims the house is hers, so A-hole almost never stops by.
At school gate, Lupe is talking to Emiliano about what he told Perla last night. She is not ok with him criticizing Perla. Emiliano mentions the birthday party A-hole is throwing him and his friends. Lupe is not happy about that plan but if that will make him happy she will let him have his party. God bless u.
At Fonda, AS is back in kitchen cooking again, now even singing while at it. Carm comes in and greet her. AS reminds Carm that they owe her money for ‘working’ even though she finds the word offensive. Carm says she should deal with her ‘new buddy’ Chuy about that. Carm says the food smells great. What is it? Breakfast for my kids and I. Carm makes some fun telling her some of the ingredients could be expired (pasados). AS smells the skillet… then writes it off ‘aahhhh! it's alright.’
At Saul’s, MA is a bit emotional and says he has come to realize that happiness is not in what we have, but in what we can share with those we love. (come on patio friends... lets hear it.... aaaaaaawwwwwwww...)
At Mercado, Gwendy comes to visit. She at first ignores Nepo, but he comes over and makes sure she notices him. She gives Trofeo a big swashy kiss just to get at Nepo. Then she walks away.
At Fonda, the RP kids are enjoying the breakfast with AS. She is whining about the Menchacas not having fine ingredients like mushrooms and salmon. She does not ‘work’, she ‘makes acts of charity’. (someone watched Evan Almighty recently??).
At some office building, MA is signing the papers to get all his money back. Saul asks the guy where they found MA’s money. IT was in an account on the name of Vilma Teheran. That’s where all the money was.
At Mercado, Nepo gets into an argument with some guy.
Outside Penthouse, Frida is washing clothes, Tizoc comes by to talk to her and help her out. He is still talking about when he becomes rich and famous…
At fonda kitchen, Lupe is obsessed with cleaning. Carm says she has cleaned the same plates about 3 times. Door knock. Some lawyer guy comes with citation papers for Chuy, Lupe asks what it is for. The guy says it is a demand that they are living in a house that is not Chuy’s (I smell the rat behind the eviction threat). Lupe is shocked. Asks who is suing. The guy says its from the Corporate RP. The guy says if they don’t show up to court by the time of the third citation, they all will be immediately evicted from the house.
Saul and MA are walking around. Saul tells MA that he had arranged for a new car to be brought up. (It is a very expensive sports car, green color.) MA is not anywhere near as thrilled as Saul expected, more like sickened by the thought. MA tells Saul that if he has learned something in the last few months is to value things and not splurge on things. MA remembers a scene where he was talking to a girl in a public bus and she was carrying a live turkey. MA tells Saul something about riding in a vehicle with a prehistoric animal.
Lupe is looking at her mom's virgin/ saint stamp collection album. She remembers when she showed MA the virgin stamps. She comes back to real time and reads the note she had written in the one they added to the album then, a note she wrote herself about MA being the man of her life.
A-hole is visiting Vilma in jail, it is not that he wanted to take that long to come back to see her, it was a strategy. Vilma says yeah I see that you are trying to get Lupe to marry you. A-hole says he is not that interested in Lupe. Vilma says you are too good for an insignificant woman like her. A-hole takes his exit.
At Fonda kitchen, AS is cooking again. Carm and Lupe are watching. Chuy comes down. AS talks to Chuy about payment for her ‘collaboration in the kitchen’. Chuy passes the buck to Lupe, talk to her. Chuy takes his exit. AS asks Lupe. Lupe says have to check the balances, and then will let you know. AS says her food smells great, of course with some alcohol it would be exquisite.
DA comes in, asks Lupe to let him to go up to see Leo. Lupe says sure. Leo tells DA that he had already seen himself in the mansion or in the NY loft, but still lives here. DA wants to make plans to do ‘cosas chidas’ (fun things) but Leo runs to take care of AS. DA leaves a bit disappointed.
At corporate Board meeting, the board members ask A-hole how is the demand going against Ms Tehran? A-hole puts on a play about having been betrayed by Vilma. In comes MA directly to yell at him and grab him by the sweater collar. MA demands to know where the abuela is. TELL ME WHERE SHE IS!!
At penthouse, AS reminds Leo he had promised her he would get away from the futbolista. AS tells Leo if he does not get away from DA, she won’t get away from the alcohol.
MA yells at A-hole that he knew well that the woman that was at the geriatric clinic was not abuela Mati. A-hole turns it around on MA, the ones that had kidnapped her were YOU and your accomplices, the Menchacas. The board asks A-hole where she is… A-hole tries to say he will arrange for a search to be done until she is found. MA says don’t bother, the one that will find her and care for her will be me! MA is about to leave but the Board members ask him to stay, they need to talk to him.
At Fonda, Frida has been having stomach pains all day… Carm reminds AS that she had told her to be careful with the ingredients she was putting on the eggs, that they could be expired. AS claims none of the ingredients she had put on the omelet were ‘spoiled’. She is tired of everyone getting mad at her and blaming her for all the problems. The only thing left is for her to be blamed for the global warming.
Board tells MA he has to return to the corporate management immediately. MA says thank you but I am not interested. Board says you should not just brush it off… A-hole has told us he will give us a surprise soon. MA says yeah I can tell where that ‘surprise’ is coming… (turns to A-hole) I warn you, stay away from Lupita. A-hole says what keeps him near Lupita is the deep love he feels for her.

At music studio, they keep feeding Tizoc’s ego about things moving forward great. Tizoc tells the guy he has a girlfriend… With all the money coming to you, what you will not lack is girls, so I feel sorry for your current girlfriend.
Tomas insists to Lupe about reaching out to MA. Carm comes out… she is headed to Mercado… Lupe tells her lately she and Chuy have been very mysterious with out of the blue errands to the food store. Lupe assumes it has to do with Carm and Chuy building their relationship. Carm says you guys… and runs out.

So, we have a big deal made about Frida throwing up her breakfast and Lupe fainting in the next episode. Not a spolier just a guess: who is pregnant? We haven't had the requisite unexpected pregnancy yet and the clock is ticking . . .
Talking about throwing up, I loved MA's memory of being on the bus remembering the turkey regurgitating on the back of his neck and now not wanting the new sports car.
Tizoc is being a jerk on a more consistent basis these days. He could not get Frida even a cup of manzanilla.
I loved Güendy ignoring Nepo and driving him crazy but of course it was just yesterday he wanted to start fresh with Lupe. What a piece of work.
It was great seeing MA out and about taking care of business. He is wasting no time in trying to find Mati, discover what happened to him after Minerva picked him up, and get his finances in order.
Leonardo was funny telling a whining DaVinci to raise his hand when he wants to talk. It was sad seeing Leonardo cave into AS's blackmailng and sending Diego away.
I cannot remember who first came up with the idea of Mati being hidden at Tomás's house, but you called it.

Thanks so much Marta for this fine recap. There were many details to keep track of and you gave us a fine recounting with added humor. Yeah Mati has been found. I was hoping Chuy's secret was keeping her safe. He seems so oblivious to A-hole but I think he must be on to his nasty ways if Mati has talked at all.

I wonder who is paying for the food, she hasn't been able to steal from Lupe and Chuy for some time so it is hard to listen to her tell Lupe how she isn't in MA's class so she is glad they broke up.
Now Emiliano is a regular little A-hole with his lying and criticizing his family for not giving him more luxury like his father will. I really think Lupe should just send Emiliano over to stay with A-hole who would get very sick of taking care of him since he always has a snide aside about the kid being a bother.
Tizoc and Perla still have several notches to come down when A-hole's promotion of them is turned off, if it isn't already. It seems the record producer is leading Tizoc down the garden path, I don't think he has been paid for actual performances so far. The music is so dreadful, he will meet the real world soon.
Now that Mati is found, I can enjoy more of the slapstick silliness and wait for MA to really get back at A-hole as he saves the Menchaca's house and wins Lupe's heart again.

Still, I wouldn't give her squat considering she's a mooch living off the kindness of the Menchacas, not to mention she stole from them. I really hate AS. She's a terrible person, gloating to Lupe about how great it is that she and MA broke up.

Now, with the secret the problem may be timing, specifically when will MA, Chuy, and Lupita come together and talk about the house and Mati. Surely the writers can come up with something to move a story or relationship forward but no they go to the pregnancy well every time. Thanks Marta, great job. The show is picking up a bit with MA being more forceful and moving forward.
It seems almost too obvious that Frida is pregnant, so I hope they're playing with us. But I did see the preview of Lupita laying on the floor with the assumption that she fainted and we all know how TN's love to have pregnant females faint when in reality, they rarely do. So if she is pregnant, that will definitely make things more interesting.
Speaking of Lupita and marriage, my opinion is that she will never get that far with Alejo. She's meant to be with MA, so I don't see her actually going through with marrying Alejo.
I really hope that Leo doesn't fall for AS's bribes to stay away from Diego.

If Lupe really is pregnant i'm disappointed in her.She already has one illegitimate child did she learn nothing in the past eight years. I guess we are supposed to think she and MA were swept away by their feelings but it shows a lack of common sense and reflects poorly on both of them. I guess the idea of either or both of them using protection would make the act seem too planned to be romantic.

Jarifa - now that the board of directors has been alerted and MA is on the loose, I doubt that Alejo would have any control over Mati. (At least I would hope not.)

I guess I'm in the minority as someone who thinks Emi should not be judged so harshly. He's done some wrong things but he's too young to be figuring out his parent is evil. Ahole has the luck to have a son so ready to do his bidding because Emi has wanted a dad so badly for a long time Lupe is a good mom....we know the old Emi will be back.
Hey, I was with Frida when she wanted to sleep on nice sheets and have her smartphone back. Totally understandable.
Unplanned pregnancy--Lupe or Frida--would be annoying. Both should be using birth control.
I hope we don't see Nepo getting Guendy back just because he decides he might like her a little more because other guys think she's hot. He really needs to derserve her.
It's getting late, when are we going to see some beginning of a way for Nepo and especially AS to redeem themselves. It will be very unsatisfactory if it happens in the last couple of episodes.

Barbara and all, thanks for the kind words. I agree that we don't want a pregnancy, but I would not be surprised Lupe is pregnant. Frida, it still might be the bad food (something rotten) AS fixed.
Anyway, I too was up till late last night but i was revisiting one of my fav novelas, Luz Maria. That is the one from Peru that put Christian Meier on the map... way young there, along with Angie Cepeda. It is a maria story, but much better made than any of the Thalia versions.. and the fact that it is set in early last century Peru makes it interesting.

have to say over the weekend i watched 'El cielo en tu mirada' with JC and mane de la parra and a girl with surname Derbez (might be Eugenio's daughter, not sure).
it was good. a bit cheesy but JC and Mane were good and Mane has a great voice. JC does a little singing in it too.

That car really was insanely hideous. I don't think even old snobby MA would have gone for it. He never seemed like he was that flashy, just out of touch with the poors. Maybe Saul was just trying to indulge some sort of middle-age crisis/yearning to go wild vicariously through MA. Saul's own car/office/everything are much more sedate than that; perhaps he has some underlying desire to be less mundane but can't bring himself to choose those things, thus he wanted MA to do it for him so he could get a taste of the flashy life without having to commit to it himself. Perhaps that wild hair will lead him closer to Guendy!
Hoping Frida just has a tummy bug and Lupita is just stressed and perhaps dehydrated. Not sure why they had to insist so hard that AS's cooking was at fault, though, as much as I would like to blame her for everything. You can pick up a tummy bug without anyone having done a poor job in the kitchen. Not to mention, if food past the expiration date was what they were arguing about, spoiled food is gross but rarely causes illness. Generally food has to be contaminated with something pathogenic to make people sick, not just full of the bacteria that normally float around. A lot of foods are eaten spoiled/cured/fermented on purpose; it's just when something like e.coli or listeria gets in that it's a problem, and you can't avoid that by worrying about expiration dates.

I thought she was just hassling AS, too. I think Lupita and Carmelita keep the food supply pretty well managed, and even AS probably would have noticed if anything was spoiled.
One thing that bugged me in this episode, and has bothered me before, is the way Chuy manages Lupita's parenting of Emiliano. Emi was a total brat and stormed off, Lupita started to follow to talk to him, and Chuy DEMANDED that she not go. He was super insistent that she do what he said! I found it appalling.
Lupita is an adult and a mother and has been both things for quite some time. Even if she isn't a perfect parent, which no one is, she does not need Chuy micromanaging her parenting! She is quite competent and has never shown signs of being abusive or dysfunctional toward Emiliano, so why does Chuy feel the need to interfere?

You'd have to wait a really long time for an egg to get rotten enough to do any damage. That is one prank that requires some advance planning (and as you note, why would anyone eat it? Bad eggs aren't exactly sneaky to anyone with a sense of smell!).
It seems unlikely that a restaurant kitchen would have any basic ingredients sitting around long enough to go bad. They aren't like me...generally cooking for one, buy a package of something and then use half of it and the rest sits there until I clean out the fridge. Lupita and Carmelita are buying fresh ingredients nearly every day and using them in sufficient quantities between the customers and the family that it's unlikely anything is left sitting there more than a couple days. Plus, Lupita is pretty thrifty. I don't think she would buy some special ingredient to use only a little of and then waste the rest.

Lupita and Carmelita are buying fresh ingredients nearly every day and using them in sufficient quantities between the customers and the family that it's unlikely anything is left sitting there more than a couple days. Plus, Lupita is pretty thrifty. I don't think she would buy some special ingredient to use only a little of and then waste the rest.
Julia, I felt the same way you did when Chuy insisted that Lupe not follow Emi upstairs. That was not his place to decide. I do think Chuy is pretty great as far as everything else (except the liquor sharing) is involved.

I thought it was wrong too when Chuy interfered with Lupita and Emi. She is having enough trouble asserting her authority lately, and being contradicted by Chuy doesn't help at all.
It might be different if there had been some concern that Lupita was going to wallop Emi or something like that, but obviously that wasn't the case.
So now she has TWO men telling her that she's too much of a hothead to raise her own son properly.

I had mixed feeling with the Chuy telling Lupe not to chase after Emi. He may have been thinking just let him go and sulk for awhile and then go talk to him. You'd just be wasting your breath when he is being a brat. Maybe if everyone ignored him when he is being a mouthy brat he might learn a lesson or two.

I can see why Tomas would want to keep Mati's location a secret even from her family. He is a smart strategic thinker, and I'm sure he wants to make sure she is safely out of Ahole's control before he makes her location widely known. And the more people who know, the greater chance someone will let something slip. Even if they tried to keep a secret, if they were always trekking over to his place to visit her, and Ahole was having them watched (not at all out of the realm of possibility), that could give her away. Things have gotten suspicious enough with just Chuy and now Carmelita mysteriously having errands to run. Tomas and Chuy probably know there are possible finks in the family too, including Emiliano, Perla, and Tizoc. Also AS if Ahole were to offer her money or booze. And Ahole does still have motivation to try to suppress Mati and her memory, since he's trying to use the house ownership to manipulate Lupita.
I wouldn't have so much of a problem with Chuy SUGGESTING that Lupita let Emi cool off first. It was the way he ORDERED her to let him go, and not just once, that grated on my nerves.

Maybe I'm just accustomed to patriarchal culture, but Don Chuy's restraint of Lupe seemed ok. Emiliano was in too much of a little snot mode to hear anything Lupita had to share at that point. The combination of male identities; Emi and his peers, Ahole, and Don Chuy is quite a mix. At least with Emi we get to consider he's going through a stage. Maybe Ahole is a case of arrested development, he never got emotionally past 12 years old?
Tizoc is definitely asking for his comeuppance. Frida's hormones seem to overlook his thoughtless behavior. Someone has to get pregnant pretty soon! unless we start breaking TN rules. Perhaps the light will come on in Tizoc's head as he learns that his so called success is based on bribes rather than his self expression and talent.

Even if going after Emi right then wasn't the best way to deal with him, so what? Lupita has the right to follow her own instincts and make her own choices about how to parent him. And it isn't like it is a given that dealing with him right then wouldn't have had any effect. Chuy is not some all-knowing guru with magical insight into Emiliano's mind. Sometimes a little immediate parental guidance while the issue is still hot IS the successful strategy!
But like I said, what made me mad at Chuy was the way he commanded Lupita as if he were her boss. I doubt he would like it very much if his own parents hung around while he raised his own kids and overruled all his actions and undermined his authority and tried to make him feel incompetent.

Emi is a total snotty brat and Lupita should have ignored Chuy's interference and gone after him to straighten his butt out. She IS a grown woman and that is HER child. She should've said, "I love you, Dad, but stay out of this."
