Weekend Discussion: Karmageddon in Aguazul (Lo Que la Vida Me Robo)

It's that time again, amigos! Although this is a little early, the number of bad guys in this tale is such that we already see the villains turning on each other. Let's cut loose now and dish about what should happen to the evil ones in our story. As previously, we should think about it both ways:
  1. What do you think the writers will do to them?
  2. What do you think should happen to them?
Let's start with their queen and work our way down:

Graciela de Giacinti Mendoza / Gaudencia Jimenez (Daniela Castro)

Guilty of selling herself to Benjamin Almonte, the murder of Benjamin Almonte, bearing false witness against José Luis Álvarez, conspiracy to murder José Luis Álvarez, selling her daughter to the highest bidder (twice), emotional infantilization of son, emotional abuse of daughter, falsification of DNA test, perjury in the death of Benjamín Almonte, possible attempted murder of infant born prior to marriage to Lauro Mendoza*, additional perjury 7 years later, grand larceny ($50MM).

*Could also be Confessional Abuse

Not to mention innumerable Crimes of Fashion

Karmageddon: TBD

Maria Zamudio (Grettell Valdez)

Guilty of grand theft, attempted murder (3 counts), blackmail, theft of personal property, false witness, assault, attempted kidnapping, prostitution, murder of Sandro Narváez

From a brilliant comment post:

Here's a list:
-She ok'd her tio Juvie to "get rid" of Montse
-She denied helping Montse escape
-She treated Dominga, Rosario and all the hacienda workers like crap.
-She constantly whined to Ale about Montse
-She stole Montse's undies thinking she could seduce Ale. Then planted those undies in the capataz's house to make Montse look even more guilty.
-She got into the shower with Ale, pretending to be Montse, then made it seem as though she was Ale's amante.
-Somewhere along the way, she broke Adolfo's heart.
-She almost attacked a pregnant Montse with a knife.
-She knocked out Carlota.
-She kidnapped baby Lauro.
-She tried to guilt Ale into letting her live with him and Montse.
-She helped Adolfo steal money from Ale, then totally denied it.
-She put on Montse's nighty trying to seduce Ale.
-She was a bad dancer at La Escondida.
-She stole the letter from Padre A that would have cleared Ale.
-She made the Padre think that Adolfo was attacking her in the hospital.
-She shot Montse, with the intent to kill.
-She joined forces with Pedo and agreed to testify against Ale.
-She was getting a paycheck while living at the hacienda, but refused to do any work.
-She would irritate me when she would tell Ale that she didn't have anyone and expect him to take care of her. Get a job and take care of yourself! Montse did. After Ale's "death", Montse moved away from her mother and started her own business.

Karmageddon: TBD

Pedro Medina (Sergio Sendel)

Guilty of domestic violence, emotional abuse, unlawful detainment, fraud, conspiracy to commit murder, drug smuggling and trafficking, pimping, bribery, blackmail, murder (prior to first episode), kidnapping, corruption.

Aldolfo Argüelles (Ferdinando Valencia)

Guilty of multiple counts of fraud, theft, failure to report a murder attempt, accessory to bribery, murder (unknown number), murder of Mónica Retenira, murder of Admiral Robledo, attempted murder of Pedro Medina doesn't count because that would be a Public Service, concealment of evidence of murder (Maria's dress, wig, and gun).

Also Making Rookie Mistakes after graduating from Murder Academy

Karmageddon: TBD

Fabiola Guillén (Lisette)

Guilty of theft, fraud, attempted fraud, menacing, unlawful detainment

Not to mention wasting good wine and Crimes of Fashion (especially hair)

Karmageddon: TBD

Guilty of unlawful detention, emotional abuse, menacing, abuse of power (to date).

Also Crimes of Fashion (especially the 5 o'clock shadow)

Karmageddon:   TBD

Dimitrio Mendoza Giacinti (Osvaldo Benavides)

Guilty of multiple counts of fraud by seduction, theft; vitriolic revelations causing his father's death, DNA fraud, and emotional abuse of his sister.

Karmageddon: Achieved redemption through reflection and self-discipline. Also discovery of ability to love.

A reminder of the not-so-dearly departed:

Sandro Narváez (Francisco Gattorno)

Guilty of fraud, murder, perjury, and multiple counts of Seduction With Malicious Intent

Karmageddon: Murdered by Maria Zamudio

Joaquin Arechiga (Luis Xavier)

Guilty of cultivation of illegal substances, drug trafficking, perjury, attempted murder, and multiple counts of Serious Misjudgements of Character

Benjamin Almonte (Alfredo Aldame)

Murder of Jacinto Sanchez, Rape (Rosario), rejection of children (Alejandro & Fabiola), unknown number of criminal business dealings

Let's not forget Hubris in thinking himself too good for Graciela / Gaudencia

Also Greed.

Karmageddon: Shot to death by José Luis Alvarez in defense of Alejandro Almonte

Comments:
UA: what about JL? Isn't he kind of a villain now? He's sort of the opposite of Demetrio. Started out good and turned bad.

I'll come up with a block of text and a photo before another two hours are up.

I have changed my mind a few times already about what I want to see happen to some of these people. The hardest one is Gracie because she deserves the worst fate of any of these characters. My gut tells me that the writers will make good on the ugly fate she wished on Benjamin in the opening episode, as I described it:

There was no choke in her voice, no hesitation in her tone, when she cursed him to die with all his wealth but with no one who had ever sincerely loved him. “Die alone, Benjamín, without family, without children, with nobody to cry for you!” She then withdrew, saying “May you never rest in peace!”

However, I still also want to see her rot in prison for everything she's done.

I want to see Pedro in prison at the tender mercies of the other inmates.

More later.

Graciela: She should get a terminal sickness to realise that money is not the most important thing.

Pedro: Get in jail and being abused by other prisoners as he use to do to other people.

Maria: I have many things in mind about Maria. She could get in a psyciatric clinic or end up in prostitution and drugs. Or she could simply killed by Pedro or Adolfo for betrayal or something.

Jose Luis: Regret and sacrifised for Alex and Montse.

Adolfo: Dimitrio clearly will find out that he murdered Monica and he will kill him.

Your idea about Gracie is related to mine. I think about her becoming medically helplessness: Quadriplegic and unable to talk. Will need care from nurses for feeding and more intimate concerns. Monse and Dim will pay the bills... through their lawyer because they will be done with her.

Maria will end up in a facility for the criminally insane.

Adolfo should die in the process of saving Victoria or Nadia's life.

EZ needs to be unmasked and sent to prison. That's if Pedro doesn't kill him first.

My preferences:

Pedro ends up in jail and on the receiving end of the bad treatment he used to dish out. I want his "cojonless" state to become an item on the national evening news and headlines in the newspapers.

Graciela ends up on the streets homeless because none of her children/friends/family will support her, house her or give her any money.

Adolfo ends up living a life on the run from the police, feds, and rival drug dealers.. He gets killed in a shootout about 30 years down the line.

I like Urban's idea about Maria being institutionalized for her criminal insanity. Maybe Montse can send her a family photo Xmas card, each year.

Jarifa

José Luis is counseled by Padre Anselmo and ends up repenting for all he has done and enters a cloistered monastery where he passes the remainder of his life in silence and contemplation.

Jarifa

Ezequiel ends up being convicted of some lesser crime , loses his position and is put under house arrest for two years with electronic monitoring where he has to listen to Carlota telling him how disappointed she is in him every day. Even when his confinement is over, she never lets him forget what he did and never fully trusts him again.

Jarifa

Maria needs to be shot by JL and I hope she's wearing her wig!

Graciela needs to be hit by something,a lightning maybe! She needs to remain alone,in jail to learn her mistakes to its finest. About Pedro idk, since he was "unmaned" in an accident ,perhaps he should be shot and tossed off a car and then the other cars drive him through. I laughed at "Also Pretending to be a Man" :)

Or i have a better idea for Pedro,he should be trapped in a room with Scorpions! Ale and Peddy get into a fight in some warehouse but suddenly they come to an empty room ,then Ale pushes Peddy in the room and closes the door.

I'm still hoping everyone will go down but Adolfo. I don't know why I love this guy so much--call me crazy, I know. Maybe it's just that his eyes are so wonderfully heartbreaking when he cries. He deserves an A+++++ for his crying scenes.

UA, I've made no secret of the fact 2 of the villains are among my favorites - Adolfo and EZ. And if you count JL, 3...

I am not a retribution type of vengeance person (if that makes sense). I believe as many of you noted, sometimes the worst punishments are a life void of friends and family. I agree that should be Graciela's fate. And as you noted, do so in jail.

I would be surprised if Pedro survives...

Many have commented that it doesn't seem quite fair that Fabiola rot in jail when others (who have murdered) have not fared as poorly. I agree. A year or two in jail should be sufficient.

EZ should get 5 years and Jarifa, loved your idea of him having to listen to Carlota each day. Excellent!

I fear Adolfo will not survive and will die saving Nadia or Victoria as you noted UA.

Victoria, I also think the actor is a handsome crier and those incredibly full long lashes and beautiful eyes mesmerize me daily.

Once upon a time, JL was m favorite. I do not think he is long for this world either. I despise what the writers did to his character.

Diana

Like CountxAlacran, I too like the "Also Pretending to be a Man" part. Hopefully he doesn't get murdered but goes to jail where he gets to be the "female" partner of all the bad guys.

I want Pedro to be tortured in jail by that corrupt guard who let JL out of the jail by bribery. And i want Pedro to have nightmares of Juvie,Loreto,Sandro,Joaquin ,Benny all laughing in his face " Pedrito Pedrito,te falta frijoles? says Juvie"Mil veces maldito!" "Por fin, estas a qui pudriendo come el maldito que eres says ghost Benny spitting all over him and laughing like a maniac, then everyone gathers around and says " Maldito" in an echoing voice:)

Graciela: Alone and loveless. Moneyless too, cause she'll fritter her dough away just like she did Lauro's.

Maria: Manicomio, playing with an Ale and a Maria doll.

Pedro: His abuse of Nadia is more offensive to me than all the dirt he's done to Ale, so I'd like to see Pedro at the mercy of women but can't think of how.

EZ: This is tough. EZ would rise to the top in prison hierarchy, so prison isn't enough for him. Though he cares about Carlota, he can compartmentalize so it wouldn't destroy him to be unmasked before her. I guess the worst for him would be losing his position and going back to being a nobody. He might actually survive if he plays the I-saved-the-priest card right, plus everyone he killed were thugs.

Adolfo: This is easy. Adolfo cares what Fina, Nadia, and Dim think of him. He would be destroyed to be unmasked as Monica's killer in front of them. Suicide is a definite possibility.

Fabiola: I see redemption for her. She never killed anyone or even tried to. I like her defiance with Ale, telling him she doesn't need his forgiveness. Maybe Monse will visit regularly and they form a friendship.

JL: I'd like to see Amelia and Refugio run an intervention on him, but of course the chances of both JL and his baby sticking around are thin since the golden couple must have an uncomplicated, perfect life. But I'm still hoping that the two broken souls, JL and Fabiola, heal their wounds and leave town together.

I don't see JL and Fabiola being together at all. She has no self-discipline and that would get on his last nerve. Monserrat is a much stronger person despite a lifetime of mistreatment by a seriously toxic mother.

Based on his confession last night I could see Adolfo committing suicide. He has messed up his life beyond anything he could imagine.

I removed a comment containing a spoiler.

Por favor, please do not post spoilers here.

Every offender who committed murder and fraud goes to confession with the padre and his penance is that the women have to enter a cloistered convent where silence is enforced and the men have to go into a Trappist monastery for life. Their days are filled with sung prayers 7 times a day starting at 2 AM and work in the fields for the rest of time. Basic diet of bread, water and on major feast days cheese. Punishment comes down to the monastic rule of 'ora et labora'.

Urban:

If I posted a spoiler - please forgive. Don't know what I posted that may have been a spoiler.

I don't know how that could have happened, as I haven't seen any future episodes (I'm on the East Coast, no Mexican TV) and haven't Googled the show to know what's going to happen in the next episodes.

The best thing about watching TNs is sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for each energizing scene to play out.

I hate spoilers, so please forgive. I didn't mean for a comment to be one.

I've thought about Gracie's fate.

She needs to lose her money and all her possessions due to being put into prison.

She also needs to lose her hair due to some disease and possibly have her face disfigured as well.

She needs to be isolated from other people so she can't make nasty remarks to them.

Of course, she'll wear the totally unflattering prison uniforms. If she tries to drape a napkin or rag across her bosom to soften the neckline, she'll be severely punished.

She will be assigned to mend and sew prison uniforms for others, and will sit hunched over her work, endlessly sewing every day.

It's possible she'll shed tears of bitter regret for her mother, her family, and her life, but--probably not.

Gracie: alone and penniless
Pedro: underneath the jail with big Bubba as a boyfriend
Maria: insane asylum as Monse
JL: fired and sleeps with a blow doll he thinks is Monse
Ezequiel: divorced, fired and in jail
Fabiola: community service in orphanage after release from jail
Adolfo: jail
Romy

If JL turns out to be the one enabling Pedro and handling the scorpions, he needs to die. We know that Pedro will cause massive damage when he returns from the "dead" and Monse will not b safe because he will either kidnap or attack her to get to Alejandro.

This is my only conclusion because of JL's ongoing threats, which he has uttered in the presence of others.

It could have been someone else helping Pedro, someone we dont know yet. After thinking for a while i dont think that Jl would offer Pedro help in any kind because he knows that Pedro wont relent until he destroys each and everyone of his enemies, Monse&Laurito included. But then again JL has turned out to be a possesive and jeaulus freak lately so he might actually have saved Pedro out of hatred he feels for Ale,he did commit a deal with a demon(Gracie) once and she screwed him over, why not do it again with a Demon of A Different Kind?

I wish I could agree with you, but it would be ridiculous to introduce a new evil being at this stage of the story. As for how Dimitrio knows Pedro isn't El Alacran, I think he said something the other night about how obvious it would be. And that Pedro wouldn't be that stupid.

No comment on punishments, UA but want to commend you for those well-chosen photos. The one of Graciela is particularly stunning. She truly looks like one of the evil queens in those old Disney films (the ones that terrified us as children!)

I don't know whether Google does this because of how much time I spend on this blog, but when I search for photos often the ones on this blog come up first.

Well that one was simply superb. Because she's playing such a wretched character, I sometimes forget what a beautiful woman she is. (And what an ugly crier!)

Daniela Castro would make an excellent Cruella de Ville.

That photo made me also think of Erzebet Bathory. It was the dress...

Maria should end up in an insane asylum for years, visited (in visions and dreams) by her kind father, finally repents and confesses all her sins to Padre Anselmo and becomes a nun, working with him in la comunidad for the rest of her life.

As much as I would like Gaudencia to end up homeless and penniless, her children are not the type to let her end up that way and I don't like the villanos/as to end up totally insane, because then they are not aware of their karmageddon, so they don't really suffer. Montse and Dim should just banish her from their families, keep her far away from them with no contact, but send Big Bertha (a large companion/body guard they hire to watch her, whom she cannot seduce) just enough money for her minimum nutritional and clothing needs. She (Bertha) will do all the shopping, which she does at Wal-Mart.

I think Fab is having her Karmageddon now. It's enough, really.
Graciela- terminal illness, but a fast one, long enough for her to go home and seek comfort from her family and she should be unable to win them back, and she should die so Ale can get his inheritance back.
Pedro-die in a fire and we should see him descend into hell-like the villainess in Eva Luna, I forget her name.
JL- sorry, he's not really a villain he's a victim. I'd like to see him get together with a reformed Fab-but no, Iit seems likelier that he will die some kind of hero's death.
Maria-she needs to suffer some accident while trying to get revenge on Ale.
Adolfo- the best thing that can happen to him is a hero's death, too many mortal sins for any good ending according to TN justice.
EZ-? Agree with whoever said he'd be a menace to the other prisoners. Perhaps die in a car bombing?

UA,

I'm not trying to be a smart aleck, but could you explain how you know that something is a spoiler if don't have previous knowledge yourself, and if you do, then why are you making guesses yourself? Even a blind hog finds an occasional acorn. I didn't see the comment you deleted but my curiosity is piqued.

Carlos

UA,its not hard for the writers to introduce some "goon" at this point of the story,we still have some episodes and his storyline can easily be resolved in that time.

Carlos, I know a few spoilers through accidental discovery. There are two English-language sites where they are commonly found:

-- Wikipedia, which is notorious for posting spoilers next to character names. It also usually has the episode titles, which can contain spoilers as well.
-- IMDb, which has the episode titles.

Sometimes one also finds spoilers when searching for photos, which is why I screen-grab most of the time.

I would like to see EZ Basura have to face Carlota while someone else reads a FULL litany of his crimes. I would like this to be a public reading and I want all of his crimes to be revealed; every single one of them.

Carlota was a huge step up the ladder for EZ. She was an easy mark for him. I especially want her to know how he abused and used BM.

As "cute" as EZ and Carlota might be as a couple, I have never once felt that he loved her. I know that opinions might vary regarding my theory.

Everyone's got some really interesting karmageddon ideas for our villains. I was thinking that:

Graciela, should remain alive but all alone to suffer and think about all the wrong she has done her family. Like someone else mentioned, Dim and Montse are not the type of people that would just leave her out on the street, but maybe they can purchase her old tin roofed home so she can have a place to live. Her only visitors would be the ghosts of Juana, Ben, Lauro Sr,Juvie and anyone else who dies before the grand finale, poking her in the head and telling her repeatedly "Te hace falta Jesus!"

Maria should be locked up in the Aguazul Manicomio because she is just crazy.

Pedro, death is too quick a punishment for someone who has done so much harm. I too vote for him to go to prison, get a beating like the ones he has dished out on the women of the novela, and ultimately commit suicide because he can't take it anymore.

EZ is hard to tell whether his relationship with Carly is a masquerade or if he really loves her, but that doesn't detract from the murders he committed and what he did to Maria. He should be forced to resign publicly and sentenced to jail.

Adolfo is one I feel really sorry for. His conscience will not let him live in peace, knowing he killed Monica and Robledo. He should die protecting his family or Fina.

Fabiola, like Emarie said is having her punishment already. I think that after a year or two in jail, she should come out looking to be a better person, being forgiven by all her siblings and being part of their family. She could work at the factory with Ale.

As for JL, I'm still not sure where we are going with him. His love for Montse has become an obsession, but I can't see him as evil yet. I also dont think he is hiding Pedro. He may be joining Maria in the manicomio if he doesn't wake up or dying a noble death to save our main characters.
