Babies ruin EVERYTHING Mi Corazon Es Tuyo #22 08/19/2014

Hi friends, Time Warner is screwing with me again so I had no chance to watch the episode until this morning, it's gonna be a quick one!

Let us start where we left off yesterday, Ana and Fernando are kissing and are seen by Luz, who thinks this is major, major news and she runs to wake up the rest of the kids, man if someone woke me for that I'd be a very unhappy camper!

The kids come down to the living room and begin to question Ana and Fernando, were they kissing? Ana and Fer, deny, deny, deny, which is kind of horrible because they are calling little Luz a liar, the younger kids get sent up to bed and only Fanny, Nando, and Alicia remain, they ask their dad if he was kissing Ana and he maintains that they did not kiss but the kids are not buying it.

The kids go to bed as do Ana and Fernando, in their rooms both being to have flashbacks to their best moments, ah flashbacks, a recappers one true love! Ana gets a knock on her bedroom door and she opens it expecting it to be Fernando, instead she finds little Luz who makes it clear that lies are a big no-no, Ana agrees but tells her that in this case a lie was necessary, there's some cute playing around and Luz makes herself comfortable in Ana's bed.

The bad news

The next day Fernando is at work when he gets a visit from Isabela, she tells him she has great news: she's with child (or maybe a demon spawn?), the look on Fernando's face says it all. He looks struck and like he might cry, clearly not the reaction Isabela wanted, but I wonder, why is she so surprised? This was more like a one night stand so she can't really expect Fernando to be over the moon. Isabela is beyond pissed, she tells Fernando that she is an independent woman and she does not need him to take care of her or the baby. Fernando tells her that's not an issue, he just needs time to process the news, she tells him to take his time and to get back to her when he has had time to process the "news", then she storms off. Oh Fernando this could of all been avoided if you had used protection, "wrap it before you tap it"!

Nando plays teacher:

We get a cute scene where Nando is playing tutor to Ana, I like these two together, also Ana does not know the difference between astronomy and astrology.

The tarantulas are having a bad day

Isabela tells her mother that Fernando was less than thrilled by the news of the baby and her mom tells her not to worry, but worry they do, not only will they be stuck taking care of a baby but they will also be poor! How expensive can a baby be I wonder? All it needs is nappies, and formula, it can virtually run around naked....ok, see this is how I justify to myself the fact that I *might* want one, and then I realize I live in Los Angeles and daycare would bankrupt me and then suddenly I get over my baby fever!

Bruno told a lie

Bruno gets a telegram (seriously? Get a Twitter account people!) from his mother who is coming into town, but there's a tiny problem, Bruno told his mom he was a high ranking executive/millionaire, who is married and has 7 kids and lives in a giant mansion. Now he wants to run away because his mom is coming into town and she will soon find out that he is just the butler. Ana comes up with a scheme to fool Bruno's mother by having the kids pretend that they are Bruno's children and that the mansion is his. Now I know this is a novela but don't people think ahead? What if Bruno's mom wants to visit at Easter or Christmas? How long can they sustain the stupid lie? Momma Bruno arrives and it looks like she's buying what Ana and the kids are selling.

Nando and Fernando have left for their trip and that's where Fernando drops two bits of important information: One, ha has fallen in love with Ana and two he is having a kid with Isa, this is where I leave off because the capitulo I found on-line ended here, please help me fill in the blanks!

Off to scream at Time Warner!

Thanks Eli. I hate TWC. One too many bad customer service issues and I switched to FiOS a couple of years ago. Haven't had any problems with them, so far. By-the-way, I live in the LA area, too.

Can't believe that Isa was actually upset that Fer was not thrilled.

At least Fer did not tell Ana he loved her or proposed to her.

What a mess!

Great recap, Eli. Cable can be a pain.

I am liking this one more and more because so far the funny and silly is outweighing the dramatic and serious.. So far the pacing has been good and I am happy to just go with the flow even if I can guess where certain plot lines are headed.

I loved: the whole "Nico the millionaire" subplot; Fernando telling Nando that Ana had given him back the joy of living; Nando telling Fernando that love made things "imperfect"; anytime Ana and Fernando are in a scene together.

Will we see more of Malinalco?

Jarifa

Also, thanks, Eli!

Eli: I laughed out loud here at work (making no apologies) at "Babies ruin EVERYTHING". This was stellar.

"The tarantulas are having a bad day"; "ah flashbacks, a recappers one true love!" and "Oh Fernando this could of all been avoided if you had used protection, "wrap it before you tap it"!" were among my favorites.

Ana and Nando speak with and treat each other with kindness and respect. There is a palpable warmth between them and Ana appears one of the few to elicit that beautiful, elusive smile from him.

I was pleased that Fernando told Isa he needed time to assimilate the news rather than blurting out a proposal or promise he did not mean. As Isa herself admitted she does not need him to take care of her or the baby (perhaps an angry retort she'd like to recall?), if he offers to help parent and support the baby, that might be enough. Well it might be if this were not a telenovela, that is :)

Very odd that Bruno's mother hasn't visited in...Never?? She never met his wife or any of the children? That beanie moment aside, it seems likely someone will spoil this little charade. It's sweet how everyone is willing to help, especially Fer's father (who I really like).

A bit surprised but pleased Fer confided in Nando. Fer is growing in leaps and bounds. Let's hope he doesn't mess things up with an indecent proposal to Isa. Decent to her, not to us!

Eli, this was great.

Thank you!

Diana

Thanks, Eli! I think you got everything. Everything important, anyway. Super bummer about your cable issues; I hope they fix it.

So, why wouldn't Bruno's mother be upset that in TWENTY YEARS, while he's theoretically been so successful, he has never once taken his "wife" or any of "his seven children" to meet her? How is this supposed to be believable? In all that time, wouldn't she be determined to meet her grandkids? Even if she needed to call her rich son and ask for money for a bus ticket so she could go there?

Either there's more family drama in Bruno's past than we know (perhaps they were estranged for many years?), or this woman is just super used to her son being a heck of an odd duck and she mostly ignores him, or the writers are stretching things a bit far.

Anyway. Love Nico playing the butler, but I think it's rude that he's imitating Bruno's stuttering to do so.

Isa is demented. That was probably the VERY BEST reaction she could reasonably have hoped for.

HOWEVER. The way she insisted "the baby is yours" makes me suspect that it isn't. Protesting a bit much?

Poor Ana had a rough episode. I could feel her frustration when Fer was acting like a zombie when she was trying to say goodbye. And then Bruno gets a telegram and she feels like she's in a time warp or something. She must have felt all disoriented. I suspect she proposed the game of pretending Bruno is the master of the house mostly to distract herself from the weirdness with Fer.

I do love it when Nando tutors Ana. They are so funny, and he thrives in the teacher role. I think it's good for his self-esteem.

I also loved how tickled Nando was to find out that Briana really likes him.

Isa is B****** and an opportunist, which means her mother ain't no damn better.

Thank you guys! I called Time Warner to get a lower rate, and they agreed, however my DVR service is now acting up, it will show that something has recorded and when you go to play the show you get a black screen or a show will start to record mid-way thru or stop half way, it's driving me crazy and if they can't fix it I may have to look at other options!

Nannet, what part of LA? <------- San Fernando Valley here!

Thank you, Eli!

ITA, Julia, about the implausibility of Bruno not getting around to introducing his mother to his spouse and children for twenty years. There must have been some type of estrangement between them.

I couldn't quite catch the dialogue between Fer and Nando. Would someone mind summing it up for me, please?

Unfortunately, Fer modeled irresponsible sexual behavior for his children. Further, his irresponsibility highlights his double standards regarding his own behavior versus his expectations for Fanny and Leon's. Poorly done, Fer.

Eli: South Bay.

Ecuador Bound: Fer told Nando that he's in love with Ana, but Isa is pregnant. Nando asked if he has any feelings for Isa, and Fer said, well, she's attractive, smart, interesting, etc. I think he kind of left it unsaid that despite that, he isn't that into her. But Ana is unique and special to him. Nando commented that Ana is really different from both Isa and from Fer's first wife, and Fer agreed.

I think that's all they really said.

So Sorry Eli you had to deal with *%&$*%^* TWC. I had to deal with *$%*@$*@^* Mother Nature last night who blew through NE Ohio felling trees which blew out our power until midnight. So now show for me...reading in the dark by the light of a Kindle.

So thanks for the recap and painting such a warm picture of the good stuff that happened. As for Isa, WTH was she expecting. For such a smart business woman she can't tell what her "client" reaction might be to surprising news. I liked Fer's reaction, but I don't hole much hope he'll not cave to her. The whole "right thing" he feels he has to do as an example to the kids. Barf!

Daisynjay

I hope Fer will be smart enough to realize before it's too late that an unhappy, unwanted marriage won't be good for either the new baby or for his other kids. Obviously if it is his baby he should support it and be an involved father, but that doesn't mean he has to be married to Isa or let her live in his house.

And you'd think Isa would be happy enough with financial support and childcare help, since she knows Fer doesn't like her much, but I'm sure she's afflicted with the usual telenovela malady of determination to be married to a man who doesn't love her, with the expectation that coercing him into it will somehow make him fall in love with her.

Thanks so much for your recap Eli.

Isa is so crazy. I am happy Fer took the time to process this news.

Thanks Eli! I continue to be more a reader than a watcher of this show, but I am really enjoying the recaps.

I'm happy to read that Nando is giving Ana lessons. No matter what happens between Ana and Fer, she will come out of this experience with greater confidence and some real skills and knowledge. I hope that means that once she is free from her debt to the club owner, she will never have to do that kind of job again.

I'm glad Fer's reaction to Isa wasn't immediately deciding he HAD to marry her. I just worry that he'll do that "if/then, either/or" thing galans do, and decide that if Ana isn't the woman for him (when he learns about her pole dancing), then Isa must be the woman for him by default.

I hope sweet sensible little Luz manages to talk him out of it!

Got all the pertinent stuff Eli'

"wrap it before you tap it"

I too am going with the flow (thought it cute to have Bruno play the Don) but I cringed when Fernando told Nando that he fell in love with Ana and has impregnated Isabela in one breath. The boy is 17.

While I dislike Isabela, it takes two, and even if Fernando held his nose and put a bag over her head, he still went for it and obviously used no protection. He's made a big mess.

Ana - enjoy the warm & fuzzy while it last

Isabela - three minutes do not a family make

Yolanda - luv it when a rich guy is over a barrel

Nic - can you bring me a napkin

Bruno - I could get used to this

Manuela - arm candy

Fernando - I pay you per head to raise them, you should be happy

Luz - no longer the baby

Nando - whew, is that all, thought we were gonna have "the talk"

Thank you for interpreting Fer and Nando's convo, Julia!

Frankly, if was 17 and my papi told me he was in love with someone but impregnated someone else, my mind would explode. Too much information, Dad!

Fer should insist on going to the gynecologist with Isa and getting confirmation from the doc about the date of conception...and don't give Isa time to collude with the doctor!

I think Fer deliberately picked Nando to break the news to first because Nando is so polite. Fanny would have gone ballistic and given him hell about his irresponsible behavior.

Thank you, Eli, for getting the basics down with humor and good sense. I was just thinking about caving to TW and getting cable, but our internet service through them is so bad that I just can't bring myself to do the cable, too. I have heard so many horror stories about their cable service. I had FIOS in NJ, a different technology that is better and NOT available here in Ohio.

I cringed when my fear that the family would become Bruno's family came true. But then it was done so well that I found myself laughing out loud.

I am glad that Fernando is talking to Nando but I hope that there is some reference to his own lack of "wrapping" in this affair. I am up for a PSA on that one. Nando is emerging, like Fanny, as a sweet young man. He was the hardest for Ana to win over, but clearly he is smitten as well.

Anvil has struck and clearly hit Fernando like a ton of bricks.

Eli! sorry you are having cable issues.. all of us recappers go through equipment issues... no worries.
I loved your title ! brilliant!! and the same quotes Diana made...

she's with child (or maybe a demon spawn?), the look on Fernando's face says it all. He looks struck and like he might cry,

yes, that was a great way to describe the scene. I agree, what did isa expect?? they are both over 40, from what i can tell...

i think Fernando is definitely melting (as in Don Hielo melting) but this is exposing an overly grown kid who needs to confide and get advice from his old man and from his own teenage son... cute, definitely.. but realistic?

Still I love this one... will probably be the only new one i stick with once Pobres and Te quiero are over... don't like any of the other new ones so far.
have to finish reading the comments at home... again, great job Eli! and dont worry. we've all been in same boat.

I don't think anyone has added this yet: At the very end Bruno's mother is chatting with her faux grandkids about what they want to do when they grow up. Finally she asks Luz and the answer is: "I want to be like my mother in heaven," indicating the portrait. The fakers have already explained that Manuela is Bruno's wife and the children's mother, and that the woman in the portrait is her cousin.

Presumably they'll explain this away somehow for the abuelita in the next episode, since this would be an amazingly quick reveal, but someone (Ana, perhaps, if she can find time in between sit-com-inspired schemes to confuse estranged parents and mooning after Fernando) should try to make sure that Luz's career plan is not dying and going to heaven.

Eli--I waited around all day to read your recap. It was worth the wait. I have to wait and watch MCET on weekend marathons on xFinity, so I'm keeping up in print.

Tofie--Anita here, from LI. Nice to see you here recording your one-liner analyses. BTW, are you sure it was three minutes? Maybe two or just one? Ha!

Eli,

"... then suddenly I get over my baby fever!"

Heh heh. Wow what a nifty recap. Short and sweet and hilarious. Well done. Thanks and good luck with that cable thing.

I can't wait to hear why Bruno's mom is just now meeting his family. Has she perhaps been in prison like Rosario (LQLVMR)? Maybe a 20 yr. coma? If not, as likable as he is, can there be an excuse for treating his mother like this?

Carlos

Good work, Eli.

I hate the idea that Fernando is now going to end up marrying Isabitch. When she and her mother move in there will be hell on earth. Not only will they try to drive Ana out I'm still thinking that Isa will be researching boarding schools and convents.

Hi Anita.

I wasn't there so I was liberal in my assumption

Isa will most definitely want to get rid of the kids somehow if she manages to get Fer to marry her, but I like to think they are feisty enough to keep that from happening. Maybe Fanny, who is an adult, could get her own place and take the rest of the kids with her.

Why has Jen still been staying at soggy Johnny's place? I thought Ana's and Jen's casita was pretty much fixed back up.

Fer should maybe just decide to go on a long-term vacation. His work used to be his refuge, but now his office will be baby-mama-drama central. What an idiot he is. It's got to be miserable to work with Isa now, but he's not exactly in a good position to fire her, either. Does he have any business titan cronies who could make her an offer she can't refuse at another company?

If Ana responded like she had been kicked in the stomach over Fernando mentioning that first kiss a mistake, perplexed when he would not speak of the second kiss, she will be devastated to learn she wasn't the only employee Fernando has fraternized with.

Thanks Eli, cable problems are the death of the recapper.

I can't understand why they couldn't just tell Bruno's mother the truth. We all know now that she will come back again and then they have to fake it again, only the next time, Fer and Isa will be there. And hilarity ensues, yuck yuck.

I hope I get another Diego sighting again this Friday. We could use him about now.

Thanks for the recap! I am enjoying this telenovela...I took a break from them halfway through Corazon Salvaje...some of the humor is pretty juvenile, some of it is actually humorous, and there's enough of the serious stuff to balance it all out. Plus I like anything with Silvia Navarro in it.

Eli, I, too, had a cut-off ending for the episode. I also have TWC and happen to live in the San Fernando Valley. I thought it was just me whose episode got cut off. Incidentally, Eli, we had similar issues with the DVR, and after calling about it ended up getting a brand new cable box...and they gave me free DVR service for a year.

No way would I tell my 17 year old kid what Fernando told Nando. I like that he thinks of Nando as an adult, but at the same time that's a bit much for a 17 year old. Doesn't Fernando have a BFF he can talk to about these things? And that whole Bruno's mother having no clue as to what Bruno's been up to in twenty years...boy was my beanie on tight for that one. Sounds like I may have missed the start of the scene that spoils that guise, hopefully TWC will cooperate with me tonight.

I am glad Fernando reacted how he did to Isa's announcement. Although I could totally see that coming when they did the horizontal tango.

Jen, hi! Thank you so much for letting me know that you too are also having issues, I'll have to call TW in the morning when I get home! It's nice to have someone from my neck of the woods (Nannet you count too!)

I don't find Fernando's lack of a close male friend so unusual. Many men just don't talk about this stuff with each other. I also suspect that he and Diego have had a few semi-serious differences in the past.

But Bruno's mother not knowing the truth about his life? THAT is a huge stretch. I am actually wondering if she will turn up ill and need to move in with him.

Ana loves dancing, she said it made her feel beautiful and closer to God. I hope once Fernando finds out she is a dancer, she stays truly independent and continues to dance and do what she loves. I would hate for her to change for any man. I admire how great she is with the kids and I believe that has a lot to do with what she has experienced in her life. Often times schools aka mind control institutions teach half truths and make people blind to another kind of reality. Ana is a compassionate human being because she hasn't been brainwashed by a University or elite upbringing. She thinks for herself. That is a truly independent woman. I admire her character.
