De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #154 - Tuesday 8/11

De que no puedo más, no puedo más.
Ok, can I just start with the Avances?

Andres is going to show that picture of Rodrigo smooching the ruca (which annoyed me. She didn't look that old to me...or worn out) to Nat and she's going to fall for it?! Please. Make this stop.

Well, on to the recap. School started yesterday, so I'm a little punchy. Pardon my brevity and grumpiness.

El gets his evidence and proceeds to show it to Alonso and Diego (that won't compromise the case at all.)

Karina is still lonely and falling back into her old habits of emotional blackmail. She also uses the word "incubator" a lot. It reminds me of Diana. Alonso spends the episode trying to appease her. He knows he needs to get someone to stay with her. He ropes his secretary into the job. Meanwhile, the mail nurse asks a hospital administrator for Karina's phone number. I'm all for this. Maybe he will shut her up.

Diego informs Vicente that Nat is coming back to Caprico. He also tells Vicente that he and Nat are definitively kaput and he's now set his sights on Simona, the Telermann rep. Vicente asks when Diego will stop mixing business and personal matters. They chuckle. Hardy freaking har har.

Diego asks Simona if she wants to be his novia. She says yes. This will surprise no one when I say I don't care any more.

Brigitte finds out about the million peso reward for information leading to Rodrigo's arrest. She calls to get info on how to collect.

Lupita cries. She asks El why he broke up with Carmen. I'm sure there's a line of recappers and viewers who want to kick some shins. El thinks Carmen has made up her mind and they are over. Lupita goes home and Luz fusses at El, too.

Irene and Nat carry out Tadeo's last wishes and spread his ashes where art and nature meet. His voiceover tells us he wanted to be fertilizer for deep ideas (seriously, it sounded so much better in Spanish.) I found the scene touching until Irene and Natalia almost looked like they were frolicking. It was a bit much for me. Was I the only one a little squicked out by the idea that those were human remains they were digging their hands into?? Anyhoo, the museum security approaches them and Irene speaks English very quickly and they make their escape. Irene thinks Tad would be happy.

Diego drops of Simona and as he leaves a man pulls a gun on him. Yes, we have to endure the mistaken identity plot line again. This time with a killer chihuahua thrown into the mix. It seems the man kidnaps Diego thinking it's Rodrigo and holds him hostage so he can collect the reward. It's Saturday, so that's why he has to keep him in the store room with Killer the Chihuahua (apparently rewards aren't distributed on weekends.) Diego tries to explain that he's a twin, but the dynamic duo don't fall for it.

Carmen tries to find out what's going on with Brigitte and Nat. Brigitte is a turd.

Rodrigo pimps himself out again. He hits on a woman with lots of jewelry. They are gettin' down when the husband arrives home early. Rod grabs the good and runs. While he's bemoaning his pay commensurate with performance (™ tofie) he's spotted by the cops. He runs.

Sara, I am grumpy right along with you. What the heck is going on here?! Nothing is happening except the same old, same old. Diego and Natalia have become an afterthought to me.

Thank you so much, Sara!!!

Fatima

Thanks for capturing my level of annoyance with tonight's shenanigans. I agree, the previews for tomorrow make it look like that's not going to be much better.

The whole ashes thing did squick me out a bit. Why not just tip them out of the urn around the trees? They were positively giddy, running around on the lawn. It was weird. Weird on the level of Grumps' smiles. I'm sure Tad got a good laugh, though.

For those who saw Tontas, doesn't Lupita look exact like the little girl Rocio? (Mariana Lodoza)

Good morning, Sara,

Thanks for recapping this at what seems to be a busy time for you. (School starting) I don't understand why they have to start school so early and end it so late! We never started school before Labor Day, and were always out before Memorial Day, and I think we turned out okay. It almost seems like the more time kids spend in school the less wise they become.

Brat is beginning to seem to me like the female embodiment of the combined characters of Dobie Gillis and Maynard G. Krebs. She is a below average intelligence schemer like Dobie, and any time the word "work" comes up she mentally screeches "WORK" like Maynard (played by Bob Denver).

I agree with you that the scene where Irene and Nat are supposed to be setting Tad free came off wrong.

I have only seen Diego's new squeeze playing evil roles, so I wonder if she will turn out to be some type of operative for the Telerman group trying to instigate a takeover of the family business.

I was amazed that Lupita didn't correct El on what Carmen was doing with Paul. So I guess all the Diego+Nat, and El+Carmen intrigues are just in there to drag this thing out.

David

Thanks Sara!

I was not as annoyed as others with this episode. I was happy to see Diego giving it a go with Simona. They seem happy together, so why not? Of course once he finds out Nat and Andres broke up, he'll start obsessing over Nat again. Simona seems like she can rebound quickly and walk away fairly unscathed, because she's an adult.

I also enjoyed more Lupita time. I wonder what she's planning with that camera?

I laughed at the killer Chihuahua, and the fact that even Diego was giggling about it through his multiple gags.

I wasn't disturbed by the ashes scene. In fact, I just saw a character in an American show do the same thing with his bare hands and his wife's ashes in the season finale of the cop show Longmire (great show). And I was very impressed with Irene's English.

Sara, while last night's events were certainly annoying, your recap dispersed the clouds.

"Vicente asks when Diego will stop mixing business and personal matters. They chuckle. Hardy freaking har har" was my favorite but also enjoyed "His voiceover tells us he wanted to be fertilizer for deep ideas (seriously, it sounded so much better in Spanish" among many others. Excellent job.

The scattering of ashes was certainly rather different. I liked the place where they scattered them (how old must that beautiful tree have been?) but was a little disconcerted by Tad's ashes clinging to their hands.

Like Fatima, Diego and Natalia have indeed become an "afterthought"...I'm frustrated the El and Carmen miscommunications continue. David, Lupita could and should have set the record straight. But why should she do that now when we can languish in frustration and uncertainty for several more weeks!!

CorazonSalvaje, I did see Tontas and remember I enjoyed the actress but can't recall what she looked like. You must have a wonderful memory!

Sara, sorry your kids had to start the school year so soon. I went to Catholic school a hundred years ago and we always seemed to start later and end sooner. It seems a shame that kids really have to cut their summers short now.

Thanks again!

Diana

Here's a pic of the little girl from Tontas: http://www.lasnoticiasmexico.com/sitebuilder/images/rocio_1031-400x600.jpg

I liked her too. I remember how she had a growth spurt during the course of the show and all of a sudden her legs were a mile long. Last night I noticed how Lupita's face has matured and changed since the show started.

Great job as usual. "They chuckle. Hardy freaking har har".

We've had shake n bake original, shake n bake barbeque, shake n bake Italian, now shake n bake extra crispy. Stick a fork in me I'm done.

David, I too considered a potential take over by Tellerman, orchestrated by Simona or perhaps she'll just grow another head or something.

Irene - Purell Hand Sanitizer

Andres - Papa-paparazzi

Simona - bailout

Lupita - takes two to untango

Nat - keep it professional

Diego - the guy, big like "The Rock", his mother Anjelica Huston, you know in The Grifters, and oh god, the Wolverine

El - can't win for losing

Hot Rod - gimme three steps

Karina - milk it for everything it's worth

Alonso - thank you

Brigitte - why does Karina show and you don't

Tofie- I think Brat's wearing a girdle. :) But she was wearing a loose shirt last night, instead of a skin-tight dress.

I hope that nurse finds Karina soon, they have a love connection, and he gives her that back rub she so wanted Al to give her. That would also let Al's poor secretary off the hook!

I like Diego and Simona together, too. Good for him, I say. I just don't care about Diego and Nat any more.

Heck, I care more about Karina and the male nurse!

I like Diego and Simona together a bunch and doesn't seem forced at all. She didn't react jealously at all when speaking to Nat and kept it about business. Simona clearly knows her business. I know however that Simona will be gunned down in the street so we can have that feel good wedding at the end.

Hail, hail and want the nurse to sweep Karina off her feet and take care of the girl

Vivi, thank you for the link. She is adorable as is Lupita. They must be related!!

Diana

Laughing in appreciation about the Nat/Diego comments.

Sounds like some of us prefer Diego and Simona(count me in).

And, I'm still chucking at your "Heck, I care more about Karina and the male nurse!" comment Sara.

I'm not adverse to seeing Nat stew a bit. I've said before I wouldn't be adverse to a Simona/Andres pairing either.

Is it wrong for me to say I miss Kimberly?? I liked seeing her and Morales together.

Diana

Ah Sara...I just love your sense of humor. And no, I wasn't surprised that you didn't care about Simona and Diego. Me neither. I'm getting sick of most of these folks (But not Paolo and Lupita!)

" His voiceover tells us he wanted to be fertilizer for deep ideas (seriously, it sounded so much better in Spanish.) I found the scene touching until Irene and Natalia almost looked like they were frolicking. It was a bit much for me. Was I the only one a little squicked out by the idea that those were human remains they were digging their hands into??"

Right there with you. It sounded better in Spanish. (Most things do...especially song lyrics!) AND I was seriously bothered by their rummaging around in Tad's ashes like it was bread dough.

I think ashes should be handled with reverence and care. That just seemed bizarre and very un-hygienic.

The last time I saw ashes disposed of was when my dear friend Olga died (at almost 99). Her ashes were contained in a ceremonial box (this was an Episcopal ceremony) and then, after the rites, were poured into a prepared hole in the Garden of Remembrance beside the church.

Even with the comfort of the ritual, it was very hard to see Olga's remains disposed of that way. But I certainly wouldn't have wanted to see the priest and deacon laughing and flinging them around either.

But, as Carlos says, opinions may vary.

Loved your recap. Sorry school is starting so early. But in Europe, the kids only have 6 weeks off from school, so we in America have it easier...even now.

Tks Sara

Season 2 of DQTQTQ

Nat & Diego are happily married for about 2 weeks.

N "I never want to see you again"
D "¿por qué mi amor?"
N "you didn't put the toilet seat down again"

Sara thanks for your recap and sorry things were just beyond silly. Unfortunately what we have here is what happens when tns last too long, whether planned (as I believe this one was w/#186 episodes)or extended. This could all be wrapped up in less than a week.

I was also shocked at the ashes bit. I didn't expect them to touch the ashes and wasn't comfortable.

Thanks so much for your recap yesterday Kat. There were a lot of good insights on the loneliness of most of the female characters.

David- She was the lead in Ni Contigo, Ni Sin Ti and a very good feisty lead at that. (Nicole is her name and fashion was her game.)

I was actually quite surprised to see Laura C. play a bad girl in Amor Bravio because she the only thing I had seen her in was the bits and pieces of Ni Contigo Ni Sin Ti I saw, where she was the lead. Then she did a dual role playing both the good and bad twin in Quien Eres Tu-- a Unimas tn that was cut short. Then of course she was a bad girl again in Tempestad.

Sara...thanks of recapping this madness. You are a good sport.

As for the ashes, I have told this story at Caraycaray before. My uncle was cremated a few years ago. He was a bit quirky as were his five children , my cousins...well, let's be honest, my whole extended family is a bit quirky. The following summer after his funeral, we had a big family reunion at my parents' farm. My whole family , including Uncle Eddie, loved the farm. I noticed an urn on the picnic table, and my cousins told me "We knew Dad would have wanted to come to the reunion." We had a very close family , so it was kind of sweet...and kind of creepy at the same time. Everyone was pretty respectful of Uncle Eddie , and no one touched his ashes.

Good luck with the new school year. What grade and subject are you teaching ? My 6year old grand girl started at a new charter school today. I wonder how it will go since her neighborhood friends all go to her former school and still have vacation for the rest of August plus her mother does not start teaching until Sept. 2. I will not start until August 25 if I get classes to teach at the community college. Anyway, I hope that you have a good school year. Good luck.

Thanks Sara for the recap. So sorry you are feeling grumpy. If I had to write about something I considered all going against my grain I'd feel the same way. Then to have school start on top of that is really putting salt in the wound.
No apology needed for the brevity. You hit on all of our main irritants, not to mention that it looks like the writers are going to have our Andre who we have placed on a pedestal take to low road to get back at Nat. Oh well, I think most of us agree that she deserves it for stringing poor Andres along. I gagged when I saw Irene and Nat use their bare hands to touch the ashes. That's like touching a dead person how disgusting. I didn't like the idea of throwing the ashes in the air. They'll land on the ground and people will walk on them. Poor Tad, does he deserve his loved ones touching his remains? Does he deserve strangers walking on his remains? Does he deserve the "unsacred" twosome act preformed afterwards by Irene and Nat? I think not. Where were the tears? I agree with the rest of you, they seemed too happy for such a sad occasion. I haven't had any personal experience with cremation or what they do with the ashes but I learned a lot from viewerville about what should have been done. I especially liked tofie's comment about the ashes:
"We've had shake n bake original, shake n bake barbeque, shake n bake Italian, now shake n bake extra crispy. Stick a fork in me I'm done".

Eva- This is exactly what Tad wanted/asked for, and he did not want them crying either, so I don't see it as being offensive to him.

I have family in asia and seen just about every possible cremation remains disposal and use, sometimes quite bizarre, but mostly it is just scattered from a small container or sits forever on an altar. I'll have to admit, on a Mexican TN, I didn't expect they would use their hands but have seen it.

CorazonSalvaje and Vivi,

Thanks for filling me in on Laura C. I had only seen her in Amor Bravio and La Tempestad before. I am always amazed at what great memories many of you have for finished tns and plotlines.

David

Sara: thanks for the great recap.

Tofie: you cracked me up with this: "I know however that Simona will be gunned down in the street so we can have that feel good wedding at the end."

I'm glad to see LC playing a good guy.

I don't see Simona with Andres. I would have liked him with original Angela.

I am looking forward to seeing the male nurse/Karina hookup. Hopefully, that will end her obsession with Al.

I don't think the writers thought it through re: the ashes--that it's actually a DEAD BODY the characters are handling--not wood fireplace ashes.

Nanette

Oh, about cremation, I admitted that I've had no experience with it and know nothing about it and certainly don't want to be cremated with my time is up. I was just trying to add something to the view that it seemed the majority had taken. So now I'm wondering if different cultures might have different views on what's respectable/acceptable. Could it be that in Mexico it's not offensive to handle the ashes of a loved one. (For some reason ashes sounds better to me than "human remains"). Perhaps in Mexico it's acceptable to release the stress in way that seems frivolous to us but joyful to their culture.
PS: I too was impressed with Irene's English.

1) Can't feel sorry for Karina being an "incubator" when she signed up to be Alonso's incubator.

2) All Diego had to do was tell the dummies to call the police. And then stay in the house until Rodrigo was captured.

3) Why was Irene speaking English to the guard? Why was that area so guarded anyway?

Eva- Me too. I have no experience with cremated remains, so I don't know what is acceptable to some and not to others. Like you, I think it's likely cultural, or actually very personal. Like I mentioned, I just saw a character scatter the ashes of his dead wife with his bare hands in an American show, so Irene and Nat doing it didn't make me blink twice. I also personally am not squeamish about it.

Anon207- Irene was pretending to be a gringa tourist who couldn't read the signs that told them to stay out of that area.

Anon207. They climbed a fence so guess it was in a restricted area anyway but usually it is not allowed to scatter remains in a public place. Irene spoke English to throw the guard off and think they were not locals and knew no better.

Here in Florida people scatter remains on the beach and into the water but it is against the law to do so.

I remember an incident where security saw someone throwing something in the waters of The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland. Turns out it was cremated remains. Not allowed. I'm not sure, but it might also be illegal in CA.

If you're curious about Laura C. playing a good and an evil twin, check out Cap 1 of Quien Eres Tu, starting at minute 4:00:

Sara, I really enjoyed the recap and strangely enough, I also enjoyed the episode. It's hard to believe I get to comment before the midnight hour. Fasten your seat belts, "here we go again" with the umpteenth twin mixup.

I like the theory that Simona might have sinister motives. Also known as "playing the player".
Seriously thought it would give Diego an honorable exit from this situation that we know is doomed from the start. It's not behavior becoming a galan to break her heart. She has to be the bad guy. This would be way more interesting than the way Nat and Andres relationship ended.

Note: one of the Kennedy's (I don't remember which one), had their ashes scattered in the ocean. This is common for people who love the water. I don't know the legality.

here in Florida I just went through this with a friend that passed 3 weeks ago. We just went out in a boat and scattered the ashes.

I think most places want you to go out a certain distance from the shore.

Simona's awfully laid-back for someone with ulterior motives...unless she's just that good! Maybe the breakup will be over something more mundane, like she had this perfect ex who just wasn't ready to settle down, and he comes back into town singing a new tune. But I agree with Foxy, Diego's not going to be the one to break up with her.

Simona is too sophisticated for Andres. Had he lived, I would've like to have seen Simona with Big Al.

Andres & Natalia would'nt have lasted whether or not Diego was in the picture because as Natalia got more and more involved in her Caceres family, Andres likely would've grown more and more distant b/c the Caceres' are upper crust and Andres is not.

And while Natalia & Irene would never look down on Andres or treat him differently, I just think Andres would have felt out of sorts and would've begun to act out. Kind of like how some men act out when their wives go back to school or make more money than they.

That's pretty much what he started doing when Tad was near the end. Like Tad was the one making sure he felt included (and if I remember, Tad didn't come from money or the scholarship wouldn't have been such a big deal to him) and without Tad around, Andres had no idea what to do or how to act.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Starting back to school so early does kind of stink, but we will be done by May 22 so it isn't all bad. Until I get back into the swing of things my computer time is usually limited. I can't believe how many forms they make kids fill out and return! I have to collect 12 pieces of paper from 25 kids and they never seem to bring them all back at once. A few forms here, a few forms there....

Anyway. I'm still counting on Andres meeting someone at Nat's wedding.

Right now I can't see Simona as a bad girl...but we didn't expect Angela to go bad either.

There are restrictions in Florida about where to scatter ashes. Neptune Society goes 3 miles from shore, international waters. You can't scatter ashes on public lands.

That is where I want to be, in the sea, not in a hole in the ground.
