Lo Que la Vida Me Robó #193, Lunes 8/11/14: Little Boy Lost
Labels: robo
Adolfo. Wish I'd called him Pretty Boy Arguelles in the first place. He had no way back.
Dimitrio. Lost in his plan for revenge and emotionally devastated when he got it. It'll be tough, but I think he'll make it eventually.
Kevin. Emotionally ignored by Macario, who has to have had something wrong with him to do that. At least he has Dominga.
Macario sure deserved the slap. That whole subplot was almost comic relief with all that went down in Aguazul.
Wow! Pedro continues to ratchet up his vileness and disdain for everyone with each episode. Couldn't believe it when he kicked Adolfo out to his doom.
I liked Dimitio's reaction to having killed Adolfo when he said that he himself felt like he was dying when he shot Adolfo. It was realistic. There was no celebrating.
Well, all I can wonder is if Dimitrio was angry that Adolfo had deceived him, how is he going to feel when he finds out how his own mother has deceived him especially after she wheedled him into saying that he did not want to lose her. When Graciela said to Montse that she needed one of her hugs, it was absolutely sickening.
From the avances it looks like Pedro will be providing a lot of action from here to the end. Damsel in distress?
Jarifa
It seems that Padre Anselmo brought a degree of closure for PBN and Finita. Dimitrio looked totally depleted. He has done a stellar acting job here, as did Adolfo.
Loved the farewell note from Dashiell Hammett. And I was pleased that knothead Macario was able to catch his son before the bus left town. Dominga's slap was quite satisfying.
Gaudencia...planning and refining her ultimate con, but the truth simply has to come out. It has to and I can't wait to see how it plays out.
Fatima
Urban A, thank you for this excellent recap and for all your well-crafted recaps. You went above and beyond tonight with your screen caps and pictures. I have really enjoyed your film noir-themed recaps, one of my favorite genres. Pretty Boy Arguelles is the perfect name for Fofito. Your title is great, very appropriate.
You really captured Pedro when you said "He grinned like a mad scientist in a bad movie." Yes!!! Uni deleted Pedro's comment about Fofito being his balls. I was wondering what he said. Thank you.
Kudos to Dominga. I love how she gets right to the point (unlike every other telenovela character), when she told Macario not to return without Kevin.
Graciela and a miracle? Bah!
You obviously spent a lot of time and effort on this recap and it is much appreciated.
So Gracie is expecting a "miracle"? When the truth comes out about her fakery it will be a miracle if either Montse or Dimitrio ever forgives her. I can't escape the feeling that Gracie is in league with Pedro somehow. I still think she and Pedro may be siblings. Two peas from a very rotten pod.
I absolutely loved the potential of the grounds where Pedro was hiding and where all of the action took place.
Sure, it's a fixer upper but properties like that do not come on the market that often.
I wonder who has the listing?
Thank you so much for this very stellar recap. I too liked the film noir recapping style you did here. I hope you have another opportunity to use it again.
I really think Addled really did love Fina. Besides Nadia and Victoria I think he really loved Fina the most. He always thought she would be able to save him but in the end she couldn't. Addled death was suicide by cop so to speak. I can see why Dimi hurt so badly after wards. These two guys had been friends since they were little, but by the Grace of Dios, Dimi could have turned out like him, but took the high road.
Esme's scene with JL was very painful, as was Nadia's and Fina's later. I cried along with them.
I too loved that slap Domi gave Mac, it's about time. I like what Kevin told Mac too. Good for him. Domi has turned into a great Mama I have to say.
Thanks again Urban for the all sparkling, recaps you gave us week after week during this long TN.
It occurred to me after I shut down the computer last night that the Navy should provide a shrink for Dimitrio to help him get through this. We haven't yet seen his current commanding officer but there should be acknowledgment of the unusual nature of this situation.
How was the omission of Pedro's line done? Was the footage cut or just the word blipped out?
I didn't really feel for Adolfo anymore. He had become more and more delusional in his thinking that somehow he could just walk away and never deal with the murders he committed. No wonder he always felt for Maria, there was a lot of her in him as well.
I loved Fina's response to him.
So now his story is ended, and ironically he has destroyed several more lives, especially Fina and Dimitrio. I see no "walk into the sunset" with these two, but I hope Rosario's advice to talk to her and they could help each other is listened to. Adolfo deceived them both, but they did care for him and it makes his betrayal all the worse.
Loved the first person Dim needed and called was Rosario. And how perfect that Gaudy takes the credit and coerces her children further to claim they need her. Let the emotional blackmail continue. Won't be pretty when they discover her betrayal.
Daisynjay
Thank you for your faithful and quality recapping.
Loved your last pictures and Dashiell's letter.
I didn't even watch the episode, no time, your recap was better, I'm certain.
I hope Dim follows Rosie's advice and goes to see Fina, just like she was there for him after Monica was killed. There is no way that she hates him, and she was also deceived and betrayed by Adolfo.
Loved the slap Domi gave Mac, and how fierce she was about calling Kevin her son.
I also thought it very telling that Dimitrio called Rosario for help. Despite her losing so many years of motherhood she is far better at it than his own mother.
I'm also wondering whether it would have made any difference had Pretty Boy ever found out he was employed by a eunuch. Would he have killed Pedro much earlier? Of course, that would have killed at least 50 capitulos.
"He grinned like a mad scientist in a bad movie"; “One of his thugs rocked the chair so his boss wouldn't have to” (extremely unsettling) “He would have enjoyed seeing a man being rocked in a chair by someone else as he sucked on his adult pacifier. Except that nothing pacified Pedro Medina” were all extraordinary.
Eli your "How sad for Dimitrio, he killed the man he was after and he still can't find peace" reflected the pain and anguish Dimitrio will now have to live with.
The actors were sensational last night. All. Adolfo left us knowing he would be in a better place.
"Kevin isn't your son!” Oh Macario, what an oxygen waster (credit to whomever coined that). Dominga, you did not hit Macario hard enough. It would take a far harder blow to knock any sense into his non-functioning brain. Dolt. Agree Sylvia, at least one character here (Dominga) is unafraid to tell it like it is.
Xintperuvian, I, like you “often wondered if Josefina really was in love with Adolfo. And “Indeed she was”. So unbearably sad.
Will comment more later - late for a meeting.
Diana
Your recap was absolutely fabulous. I have so much to comment and not enough time. My previous comment was lost by google.
I'll check back in later.
I had to fly this morning, but wanted to also note this as well. Diana you said it simply and perfectly. I love when the "secondary" characters in a TN just shine and the actors are strong, their stories often less predictable and interesting than the supposed main characters. I thought it fitting, and wonderful, that the main threesome of Monse, Ale and JL were there mainly as support.
The car, on the other hand, well it just had to have it's moment---I'm sorry, in the midst of this tragic telling we get to enjoy the speed, clean lines and comfy interior of Ale's truck. Spare me, but it did make me smile for two seconds before the awfulness that ensued.
Daisynjay
I cried when little Victoria said good bye to Adolfo and I especially cried during the final scenes when we lost Adolfo.
Honestly, it was a jarring jolt to go from those poignant scenes to Gaudencia and her further manipulation of her children. Dimitrio's face tells me that he is still not 100% buying what Gaudencia is selling.
Looks like they are saving the truth about who Gaudencia really is as a human being until the very end.
I am so glad that things are wrapping up day by day and not in the final two hours. At least they have given us that much.
I wonder what roles the Adolfo actor will get now. He has come a long way from his role in CME. He does look beautiful in that sleek, slick black hair and a white suit. I still think, though, that Juan Soler is THE MAN when it comes to wearing suits, but Adolfo comes in a close second.
Was it my imagination, but did they deliberately do a close up of the Texas license plates on The Tundra last night?! Every time I get a gander at the truck's interior, I get more and more interested in that truck!
Fatima
Daisynjay, I see we were thinking the same thing about The Tundra!!
Fatima
This has got to be the saddest novela I have ever watched, as well as the best acted.
Ferdinando did such a superb job portraying a young man who gets caught up in a bad situation which slowly poisons him and takes him beyond redemption. Pretty much everything he did was believable. At first I thought he had another gun behind his back in the final scene and was really shocked to see that he took the clip out of his gun. How sad. How inevitable was his ending. How well written. Wow, just wow.
Fatima..I agree with you that many men do not reach out fir help when they need it. Rosario is an earth mother. She is open and willing to nurture anyone who needs her embrace and love and wisdom. She gives so generously and unselfishly of herself , so I am sure that she will always be surrounded by loved ones.
Hmmmm...while I am on the topic of mothers, .are we now sure that Grrrrrr is faking it until she makes her children love her ??? Love me..dammit !!!!! I saw a quote yesterday that made me instantly think of our dear gracious Grrr. "Be the kind of woman who when your feet hit the floor in the A.M., the devil says, "Crap, she's up !"
Pobrecito Adolfo, we all knew that white coat and Fina's lovely white gown were going to be covered in blood. Live by the sword; die by the sword. We all make decisions that firm our fates, and Fofo just kept making one bad decision after the other. Some people are their own worst enemies...Including people in real life and many of these characters.
P.s. Please writers, No Zombiemaria popping up. We have all suffered enough at this point . I am enjoying picturing her in hades toasting marshmallows while Uncle Pervje combs her hair.
I also wonder whether it would be better for Pedro to die at the end rather than end up in prison. That would be for the others' sake so they wouldn't have to look over their shoulders for the rest of their lives.
Who would have thought at the beginning of this TN that Adolfo and Dimitrio would become the characters I find the most interesting and care about the most? I'm heartbroken for them both. I really can't see Dim and Fina getting back together now. Sometimes there is just too much baggage to surmount.
Beautifully written as always.
I still cannot believe all the hours you dedicate to recapping, although it is most evident.
I especially like what you said about Dimitrio getting counseling. This should be routinely provided by the upper echelon.
Another theme of misunderstanding continues: Dimitrio does not realize that Fina still loves him, and now he thinks she hates him.
I hope these two beautiful, sensitive people are reunited in a deep true love that will carry them into a fulfilling future on this earth.
Dim is unaware of Fina's conversation with Adolfo before he headed out to his death. I was horrified but also glad that Fina could see a touch of Adolfo's
self centered, physical cruelty which led him to commit his senseless crimes.
Fina emphasized that she did not want the father of her children to be a killer. I hope that she does not see Dimitrio in that light.
She missed the first part of their encounter where Dim tried to work it out with fisticuffs.
I was glad that she saw Adolfo about to shoot Dimitrio, and glad that A. heeded her warning.
I like the image of Jorge Salinas as you described. He has a very special macho charisma.
Thanks to all for entertaining and insightful comments.
This was lost in the above:
Recapper Extraordinaire, and with those screen shots you have recorded a permanent visual summary of the novela.
Graciela commented that she believes in miracles. Could it be that she is soon to be miraculously cured
of her paralysis?
Floridia, I had thought that there might be a chance for Fina and Adolfo. I was sad that Dimitrio ended up being the one to kill Adolfo. I suspect this may be something neither Dimitrio nor Fina can get past. While I wish it were love that would unite them, their unbearable grief may be the catalyst that at long last binds them.
Diana
"Pretty Boy Argüelles paced. Pedro Medina sat in his rocking chair, smoking a cigar. One of his thugs rocked the chair so his boss wouldn't have to. It was impossible to tell what he was thinking as he watched his boss. Freud would have loved watching this. He would have enjoyed seeing a man being rocked in a chair by someone else as he sucked on his adult pacifier. Except that nothing pacified Pedro Medina." Urban, you verbally captured that scene splendidly! When I saw that scene last night I almost fell over! Speaking of characters needing a psychiatrist - Pedro would need a team of the best of the best. The writers could possibly write a thriller based on his back story. Just imagine what his childhood was like to get him to this point. *Shudder*
"Pobrecito Adolfo, we all knew that white coat and Fina's lovely white gown were going to be covered in blood. Live by the sword; die by the sword. We all make decisions that firm our fates, and Fofo just kept making one bad decision after the other. Some people are their own worst enemies...Including people in real life and many of these characters. " Susanlynn, very well said. I couldn't agree more.
Not much time for any additional comments from me.
More drama tonight I guess.

If there is one thing I can take away from all the hours of watching this show, and now down to it's final days, this is NOT going to be TN where the plots are all wrapped up in a pretty pink ribbon and everyone is coupled up and smiling at the end. Seems everyone in this show as somehow experienced being to their own hell and back...this may be more a story of survival and moving on than any happy endings. Perhaps depressing, but as pointed out, so much more realistic.
I'm just a bit worried on how the last two remaining baddies will end their stories and who they hurt in going down.
Daisynjay
am I the only one that noticed that when Dimi was first in his mother's room he was facing her in her bed but when Montse came in, Gaudy was on the couch next to Dimi who didn't look like he had moved? how did she get from the bed to the couch? did Dimi move her and sit back down on the floor in the same place? with everything on his mind and heart, what would be the point of that? suspicious I say...
thanks for the recap! whoever was doing the English closed captioning last night wasn't keeping up with the actors as they spoke, so some of the weight of what was being said was lost. i can't have sloppy CC during ultimos capitulos! but I knew I could come here and get what I missed.
-obsessed
So glad to see you back! Good catch on the movement of Guady. I didn't even notice, she floored me when she was talking about miracles!
What I want to know is, why didn't Dimi call her out about having the will of Benny? I know he asked her why she never mentioned that Fofito had pulled a gun on her to get said will. Or did I miss something somewhere?
Daisynjay, about Pedro's last days, I fear for the children the most. I hope he ends up in Hades instead of la cárcel. A living Pedro is still a threat.
I hope Dimi and Finita can communicate honestly and realize one of their common bonds is that they were both horribly duped by Adolfo.
What did bother me was: How did Gracie get from her bed to the sofa, especially when we didn't see the wheelchair anywhere to the right of the sofa when Monserrat entered the room? It would not seem logical for Dimitrio to get up, help her into the chair, wheel her to the sofa, help her out of the chair, and sit back on the floor. It would have made more sense for him to get up and sit on the side of the bed.
No way would she have taken the risk of deliberately slipping out of bed and crawling to the sofa. Since she probably hasn't slapped too many people lately she wouldn't have the upper body strength to do that. Televisa needs to realize that people look for stuff like that.
Mads- I also hated the sarcastic way Dim said that to Fina. That was probably the only sour note in the episode for me. I don't know why the writers did it.
Count me in. Gracie is faking it. Here’s what convinced me:
“I don't want to lose you, Mother,” said Dimitrio.
“Neither do I,” said Monserrat. “I don't want you to die, Mother.”
“It will be alright,” Gracie said. “You know what? I've always believed in miracles. God is just and he has great love for us. You need me right now as your mother.”
She’s finally got what she schemed for—her children’s love back.
Does she know that Dimitrio called Rosario for comfort?
How long has Monica been dead?
Nanette
I agree strongly with an earlier comment that a living Pedro is an ongoing threat no matter where he is. He has made numerous promises he never kept. He makes all these people turn against each other. Like a latter-day mad Roman emperor putting them all in an arena with delusions and weapons.
Adolfo was one of the dimmest bulbs in the chandelier. Pedro deluded him further with dreams of more money in a faraway place. He then deliberately kicked Adolfo out of the copter knowing that Dimitrio would kill him and live with that for the rest of his life... or until the day he could delude Dimitrio into doing something to hurt Monserrat, Alejandro, or their children, which would be even more sadistic.
I know this would be unlikely, but I'd love to see Pedro fall into the hands of a group of mad scientists who would do experiments on him.
She [Dominga] even told him [Kevin] to come to her if his father ever became that stupid again. That was a guarantee they'd be close. - lol
Things are finally happening to put Pedro Medina where he belongs. In the slammer or in Hell, it won't matter which; Aguazul will get relief soon.
I don't think I've ever seen a TN where an evildoer finds redemption in prison and comes out a reformed man, though surely it must happen in Mexican prisons as it does for some in U.S. prisons. Adolfo was weak, but perhaps he had more guts than he knew to remake himself in prison.
I’m guessing Macario, who is normally a good man, is acting like a nitwit with Kevin because he feels guilty about the boy growing up without his support all those years, even though he didn't know the boy existed. Maybe in Macario's warped logic if the boy is not really his or is a shiftless thief, he doesn't have to feel so guilty. Loved when Dominga told Mac, that if anybody's leaving it will be him. Glad her thwack! brought Mac back to his senses.
Victor watched them [Nadia and Fina] silently. For that moment he was grateful that Nadia couldn't see her brother’s blood.
"He thought back to her funeral. Adolfo had been there conveying condolences. He had looked him in the eye. They had embraced. Adolfo's act had taken him for the worst ride of his life. He got up and loaded his pistol. He tucked it into the back of his trousers. His cell phone rang. “What do you want? You know who the Scorpion is? I'll be there.” He ended the call and ran out, pulling out his shirttail to cover the gun."
That paragraph illustrates what I love about your writing style in this one.Crisp, clean sentences. Staccato beat. Moving the story along rapidly. Just enough. And just perfect.
You have turned yourself inside out, week after week, giving us pictures, detailed resumés, and lots of your own reactions and speculations regarding the story.
Thank you for the generosity of your time and talent. You have gifted us all.
When I heard Graciela say the word milagro, please know that I was toasting you! You were the first to recognize she was faking it!
Well done!
Nobody seemed to notice that Adolfo's gun was not loaded. When he pulled the clip out he kept it in his other hand, it should have fallen on the ground next to his body. Will the writers leave that detail behind or will Dim have even more anguish when he finds out he shot an essentially unarmed man?
Did anyone else think it was bizarre when Ale, Fina and Montse found JL on the ground and when they discovered he was simply unconscious they all just ran away and left him there?
As for the parting words to Fina, I took it that was almost a knee-jerk reaction to the fact that he felt Fina dumped him to be with Adolfo even though he, Dim, still wanted her. Failed to remember that those two have been dancing around that for months and never really did TALK about it. He was betrayed by his best friend, and not knowing what really went down with The Fool and Fina, it was a but of a dig that she had chosen the murderer over him. Not cool, but in the heat of his thought processes, I get where his mind was at. That may be why later he was so remorseful to Rosario, realizing he screwed up and she won't want to deal with him.
Daisynjay
xlnt, geez I've got my fingers crossed that JL doesn't take note that they just left him there unconscious. It could start him up again about how insensitive the golden couple has been to his feelings. :D
Seriously, I'm glad JL is still with us.
called your recap detailed to perfection. Floridia stated that you were a recapper extraordinaire
All three are right on so I will just second those and add that your many hours of recapping are deeply appreciated. THANK YOU.
The Scorpion is no more. The three
ladies filled with grief all for different reasons played their parts exceptionally well last night. However, in my opinion I feel that Margarita Magana the actress that is playing Esmeralda
hit it out of the park. Oscar potential for sure. That girl can really bring it on.
A side note---Most everyone is calling Adolfo's death murder by cop because he took the clip out of his gun. But---the gun most certainly would have been cocked and ready to fire, so even if he took the clip out [which he did] there would still have been one bullet left in the chamber and so he would have had one shot available if he chose to use it.
An interesting point was that after Adolfo had been shot and lay on the ground dying, no one noticed that the clip was not in the gun. Interesting that two police officers were there as well
as Alejandro but no one noticed.
Oxnard Huero---A fixer upper but great property. Who has the listing? You made me laugh. For the last couple of days I have been listening to some female Latin Pop cd's and dvd's. They are so good that they make me want to move to Mexico. Maybe we could go half and half on the property.
Question---Why did Pedro throw Adolfo out of the helicopter? Was
it because he didn't need the Scorpion hit man anymore or was it because he didn't trust him because Adolfo had said that he wanted out?
Oh yes---Little Victoria did a fine job last night also.
the gringo
" You are my testiculos". Seriously, dude?
That sentiment is quite similar to that of this famous song.
Just substitute you are my testiculos for wind beneath my wings.
"Wind Beneath My Wings"
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind.
So I was the one with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the strength.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.
It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.
Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.
Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
so high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.
Poor Adolfito. He was a troubled soul. He tried to be good but El Alacran was his ultimate demise. I too was a little perplexed by Dim's indifference towards Fina: "Sorry I ruined your wedding" and then walking away. I guess he had to do what he had to do, but he set out to get revenge.
Nanette, I think Monica has been dead for at least two years. She died before Fabiola did and a whole year passed after Fabiola's death so I'd guess at least a year and a half to two years is the likely answer.
Honestly I believe that the fact that Montse and Dim are so nice to Gracie is going to come back and bite them. I think they're going to soon realize who their mother truly is.
I gotta feel bad for Esme. Her reaction to finding out the identity of El Alacran was probably the most accurate. While everyone else seemed sad and disappointed, she was rightfully disgusted.

the gringo
1. Dim was wrapped up in his anger to get revenge and he was first on the scene to stop Adolfo and made sure that JL did not interfere. That was his total mindset.
2. He had no knowledge of the conversation between Adolfo and Fina where she made the decision to stop the wedding For all Dim knew, the wedding was to go on as scheduled, and he was the one who stopped it.
3. When he say Fina devastated, he thought she was in that condition primarily because the wedding did not take place.
4. We learned that he was not happy after getting his revenge,
and part of that was seeing Fina so disconsolate. He was truly feeling sorry for her, and for a long time, he thought she liked Adolfo when she hadn't yet formed an attachment.
5. I categorize Dim's remark more along the lines of the title,
Lost Boy. In the heat of the moment, the remark came off as awkward as if from a teenager, but I believe it was sincere. It was the best he could do at the moment before he fled to his house to reflect, and I don't think any sarcasm whatsoever was intended.
He thought of Fina's feelings first.
Interesting that they never showed Fina and Adolfo in bed. I guess Viewerville is to believe that they were waiting for marriage.
I also agree that Dimitrio's remark to Josefina wasn't meant to be sarcastic. I think it was more for himself in that he felt like a prize idiot for not having seen through Adolfo before.
The one thing that concerns me now is the ugly possibility that Pedro has a contingency plan against his capture. As in: In the event of my death or capture, kill____________ .
Florida,
I enjoyed Dimitrio's "Sorry I ruined your wedding." It was sooo Dimitrio. I also think that he was being sincere and meant absolutely no malice. I even wondered if he might have ad libbed the line expecting a retake of the scene and they decided to leave it in.
Gringo,
I also noticed that Adolfo did not eject the bullet that remained in the chamber. Very observant and knowledgeable of you. Now, surely you must be anticipating this question from me... was this murder or self-defense?
Carlos
To someone else's point, JL stayed behind when Alejandro and Monserrat escorted Josefina out of there. He must have found the magazine after picking up the pistol and seeing it was missing. The weight difference alone would have necessitated that.
Maria would not have qualified as a lady due to being the daughter of the foreman.
"Maria would not have qualified as a lady due to being the daughter of the foreman."
and yet in your very first recap you referred to Guadencia as "La Condesa Graciela de Mendoza", a rather lofty title for the daughter of a seamstress wouldn't you say?
As for Dimitrio, although I'm sympathetic, I'm going to accuse him of first degree murder since he went with the expressed purpose of killing Adolfo... premeditated murder.
Carlos
On the contrary, we witnessed
Dim's private acts and even heard about them in some detail until the padre decided it was TMI.
Last night, however, Fina was repulsed when thinking that she had been "kissing" a murderer. She did not use the words, "making love." I prefer to think of her as an untouched, old fashioned girl.
It's strange that she went away to find herself and to some degree became more sophisticated, but in a major way, she fell subject to a master con man. As she told Dimitrio, she could not read everyone's soul, but she could read his. This should help in the healing.
He went to apprehend a criminal and tried to work it out with fisticuffs first. Later it became self defense.
If you are still there, you missed my comment the other day that I was through with Adolfo as soon as he pulled the trigger on Maria. I thought you would agree with that.
"He went to apprehend a criminal and tried to work it out with fisticuffs first."
I'm pretty sure that earlier he had said (possibly even to Adolfo) that he had no intention of arresting El Alecrán but intended to kill him... but I said I was sympathetic.
"...I was through with Adolfo as soon as he pulled the trigger on Maria."
Yup... me too.
Carlos
Last night's episode left me feeling very sad. I cried when Adolfo was killed, and again when Fina arrived to cry over him. So much loss for all of our characters, all linked to one evil man, Pedro. I hope his anvil is huge!!!
Well, I'm off to read all your comments. Take care!
Maricruz
Thanks so much for writing this marvelous recap. I so appreciate it, as well as every other recap you have shared with us these past 9 months. Your unique Noir-style gets me every time. Sorry I am late to the party. I just finished reading the recap, but don't have time to read the comments.
Very sad to see Addie die, but I truly believe it was the only way to stop him from killing anyone else. The way he got angry at Fina when she was calling the police was quite frightening. Addie was two people. The pretty boy with the beautiful lashes, that was in love with a fantasy life that was to never be. But he was also a stone-faced assassin. He was a trained killer with a chip on his shoulder. He refused to pay for his crimes.
I am sure this has been discussed, but I have to bring up that last scene with Gracie, Montse and Dimi. I found it so interesting that Gracie brought up the fact that God is great and miracles do happen. In other words, she's going to miraculously recover from her "brain tumor" and live. After all, Montse said she didn't want her mother to die. I wonder how long Gracie will wait to "recover"?
Thanks again Urban!
back to work...hasta pronto!
I forgot to thank you for the Becall/Bogart picture, and that awesome movie line. So sad to hear of her death. Also of Robin Williams' passing. May they both RIP.
I haven't commented actively, but have read the fabulous recaps whenever I missed a capitulo (or couldn't keep up with the dialogue). All of you recappers have outdone yourselves--each time I came to the blog, each recap would reinforce my understanding.
I agree that Esmeralda's reaction to El Alacran's identity was the best of them all--genuine emotion and disgust. "Que asco!" Margarita really is an outstanding actress. I can't stop re-watching that scene! -->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hOF0qionzA (30:00--31:35)
I'm glad there's a Gaudencia-is-Faking table. When Rosario caught her in that lie last week (?), I wasn't sure where the plot was going with that, or what Gaudy was planning. Dos mezcalitos, por favor.
Como la gran final se acerca, and Pedro continues to incite our hatred, I can only hope that JOSEFINA is the one to kill him. Eso seria dulce...
I think this may have been your finest recap.
You did a wonderful job at capturing the action and the pathos of the capitulo.
