Qué Pobres, Lunes 8/11/14 (#155): I'm an Executive! WHEEEEE!!

Can any other recapper claim to have done TWO weddings where the groom dies before he can consummate his marriage? Yeah, because I've done that. Here's the other one.

Leftovers from Friday:

- "How dare you hang up on me? Don't you know who I am??" Ahole screams into his dead telephone; Tizoc's manager Charly terminated the call some time ago.

- Frida ponders her choices: Adoption? Go out of town to have the baby, so no one will ever know? Or perhaps she can choose the child's new parents herself.

New:

It's the day of Lupe's surgery. She tells her family she's taking a Chinese cooking class, so she might be out late. (Is she planning to make egg rolls tonight after her surgery? Silly.) After Lupe leaves the house, Carmelita phones MA, who is waiting outside, to give him the all-clear. He enters the fonda and greets the rest of the Menchacas, who give him a chilly reception.

At the clinic, Lupe is surprised to find that there's been a change of venue to a bigger hospital. Lupe is afraid it will cost more. The doctor says he'll explain on the way, but apparently he doesn't, because when they get to the MUCH nicer hospital, Lupe is still worrying about the expense. Especially when she finds out she'll even have her own room.

Isela's wedding is a small but fancy affair at Lauro's house. She, of course, is wearing white. Chabela jibes at Mini: why's he marrying Isela when he could have you? Mini says her mom is getting her happiness now; Mini has plenty of time to find her own príncipe azul. "Well, you're not getting any younger," Beba snipes.

Lupe's hospital room is cavernous; it's bigger than my living room. Carmelita is waiting for her: "I couldn't let you go through this alone." And now Tizoc's here... and Perla.

Lupe is touched to see them, but she frets. "What will Dad think?" Chuy emerges from his hiding place. "We adore you and we'll be with you through everything." Group hug.

Isela and Lauro are already married, and Isela's notary is here for Lauro to sign his new will. "I'm so happy, I'll sign anything!" Lauro exclaims. He can't wait for tonight! Isela invites the paparazzi to take pictures. (I mean pictures now, at the reception. Not pix of their wedding night!)

The Menchacas have been group-hugging all through the wedding, a commercial break, and the opening credits. "How did you know?" Lupe asks in disbelief. "Are we in debt again?" Perla assures her that it's okay, but (for once) won't give away the surprise. Seeing that Lupe won't be able to relax until she knows how this is being paid for, Carmelita reveals that MA is paying for everything. But there's no more time to talk; the nurse says it's time to prep Lupe for surgery.

MA is in the waiting room. Tizoc and Perla are to pick up Emi at school and not tell him what's going on. (There's never any follow up on this, so I don't know if he ever finds out.) Mati and Carmelita go for coffee. Now it's just MA and Chuy, alone. MA offers to leave, but Chuy protests, "nothing doing. We're going to have a very serious talk!"

During the wedding reception, Lauro lures Isela to his bedroom for a "surprise." Heh, some surprise - he is in a red-hot hurry to consummate his marriage with Isela. At first she resists. She pushes him away playfully (or passive-aggressively), and he flops down on the bed. He's so excited, he says he's feeling a rush of blood into his head. (Wait, that doesn't sound right!) Isela catches the spirit of things and climbs on top of him. But two seconds later - not even - she pulls away in disgust and asks, "That's it? You're done already?"

Yeah, he's done. Is he even faster than Ahole? Nope, he's DEAD! He still has his pants on!

Chuy and MA discuss Lupe. Long story short, it's all water under the bridge in Chuy's mind. "You are the only one who makes her smile," he tells MA.

The doctor comes in and says the surgery is complete; Lupe is recovering. They removed the tumor. It was big, but he's sure they got all of it. And the biopsy says it's NOT cancer!

Yep, that's it! That's the end of Lupe's breast cancer scare! Every lump-survivor on the planet is rolling her or his eyes.

I guess Mini wasn't out of work very long, because it appears that she's the Distrito Federal's coroner. She declares Lauro dead. She and her mother think they ought to take advantage of the ongoing reception to announce Lauro's death and have his funeral.

Mini informs the crowd that Lauro just died in his bedroom, and her mother is too distraught to talk. "My poor daughter has lost TWO fathers! Why can't I be happy, God? Why? Why??" Isela wails at length.

One of the guests says this is a tragedy indeed. Chabelita adds that Don Lauro was a virgin! He waited all his life for his wedding night!

Isela (too distraught to talk much, LOL) says they're going to have funeral right now. The undertaker is already on his way. "That way you don't all have to come back here again," Mini explains. Isela: "We need your companionship!" Mini: "Can some of the guys move some of the furniture out of the way to make room for the coffin?"

Ahole's lawyers tell him that Lupe and Tomas are hitting him with a lawsuit to end their marriage because he's nasty to her and poisoning her son against her. Ahole admits he doesn't have any hold on her ever since Mati gave them the house and Tizoc's breach of contract was magically settled.

Fortunately for Ahole, though, the lawyers have a new plan to get Mati off of Ahole's back without completing the divorce. They're going to trick her into thinking the divorce is underway. They all march into her office and show her the divorce certificate that will be signed in court. "I hope that's enough to prove myself to you, dear Granny!"

Mati replies: "Look, my dear Alejito. You can say Mass to me if you like and call me 'dear Granny' - which makes me barf, by the way - all day long, but I'm not convinced." She asks the lawyers to give her a moment with her dear Ahole. She continues, "Don't treat me like an idiot, because I'm not."

"There's no pleasing you," Ahole complains. Mati explains that if he were really going through with the divorce, Lupe would know about it, and Ahole wouldn't have to bring his goons in here to show off the unsigned certificate. She's going to tell Lupe what he just tried to do. "I gave you two chances," she says. "You won't get a third."

Some time later...

Lupe is home from the hospital, in bed, with all of her makeup on, surrounded by her family. Carmelita suggests a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Sorrows in Chihuahua when Lupe's feeling better. What? Lupe wants to go back to work right now! Carmelita tells her not to push it! Later, Lupe tells Carmelita she can't wait to see MA and thank him. All of her problems are being resolved... except for her marriage to Ahole, and Emiliano's custody.

Mati is meeting with one of the zombie directors, Don Tulio, in her office. They say Lauro was a good guy and they'll miss him. Tulio says he used to always be going to weddings; now he's going to funerals and proctologists. Mati isn't afraid of death; the afterlife will be a neverending party with all her departed loved ones. Tulio dreads being reunited in death with his ex-wife. Mati can't wait to see her Aureliano. (Please wait a little longer, Mati!)

At the Editorial, there's a board meeting. Don Tulio just sold his shares to Lauro the other day, and only came by to say goodbye. He reminds them that Don Flavio also sold his shares to Lauro recently, before taking off for the Bahamas with a 20-year-old Brazilian dancer.

I don't know how much time has passed, but it seems that MA and Ahole are not up-to-date on the latest happenings. MA thinks Lauro is the second-biggest shareholder after the RPs, but Tulio says no, Lauro died shortly after signing a new will that granted everything to his new wife, so now his wife is the owner.

"So who the hell is his wife??" Ahole demands.

The boardroom door bursts open. "Hello, colleagues!" Mini and Isela announce.

Rita and Gwendy are discussing Rita's plans. Rita has a little souvenir shop in the US where she sells Mexican stuff. Nepo walks in, stares at them, and accuses Rita of trying to steal his novia. He warns Gwendy, "This is how it starts! First they're your friend, and then POW!!" (Too many bleeps to give you a verbatim, but the myth of the predatory lesbian is alive and well in Nepo's imagination!)

Rita tells him that's offensive and discriminatory. Shocked, Gwendy accuses Nepo, "Wow, now you're even jealous of my amiga!" Rita asks Nepo if he chases every woman who crosses his path. No, of course not, he says. "But I don't understand..."

Gwendy demands that Nepo apologize to her and Rita. Nepo whines that everyone is defying him. Even Diego took offense when Nepo gave him hell for talking to that bleep bleep.

"You just don't get it," Rita says. Nepo replies, "No. Explain." (Holy crap, is he actually going to listen this time?)

Isela cheerfully reveals to the now-zombiless executive board that she is Lauro's widow. (How did MA and Ahole not know this?) Mati confirms, "it's a nightmare." Ahole laughs at MA; she'll spend the company into oblivion. Isela confronts Ahole: "You didn't respect me before, but now you'll have to!"

Isela is putting Mini in charge of all Isela's business. Mini exclaims, "I'm an executive again! Wheeee!"

Ahole complains that Mini and Isela are like the crap that sticks to everything and just smears around the more you try to get rid of it. MA agrees! Mini has all kinds of little jobs for Ahole to do. Isela wants him to fire the photographer who did her disastrous cover shoot; it's his fault that the magazine didn't sell well. She's going to do another cover with a photographer who's competent and can bring out her natural beauty.

MA says, "You can't just fire people." (I bet this scene would be much funnier if we'd seen the one where Mini got fired.) Isela asks, "Why not?"

Ahole hands his stress ball to MA, who squeezes it for a few moments before handing it back in bemusement.

Carmelita finds Chuy talking to his wife's photo. Chuy invites Carmelita in. He says his own life ended with Marcelita's. Carmelita tells Chuy she loved Marcelita like a sister, but you can't cling to things that you can't have. Love and death don't ask permission; you just have to accept them. "I hope someday you can enjoy your own life," she tells Chuy, and leaves.

"She's right, isn't she, Marcelita?" Chuy asks the photo pensively.

MA says they can't fire someone just to make room for Mini's job. They briefly discuss/complain about Lauro, and Mati decides that while it was very naughty of Lauro to do this, she's going to let Mini stay. MA protests.

Mini's full of big ideas. The first: new uniforms for all the secretaries! Pink designer dresses for everyone!

Ana Sofia has tea with Chabelita and Beba. She needs to revive her public image as a humble, altruistic, charitable woman. You know, her real true self. "Yes, you must be the very soul of saintly Christian piety," Chabelita says. AS has an idea!

Mati and MA confer alone. "I thought you didn't care about the company," Mati says. MA replies that he's just preserving the family legacy. Mati chuckles to think that Ahole must be $#!%%ing a brick. (My words, not hers.) "You look like you know something," MA observes.

Lupe is working in the kitchen again. Carmelita reminds her (and us) that Chuy doesn't know about Lupe's marriage to Ahole. Lupe hopes it will end before Chuy ever finds out about it.

Mini and Isela gloat: "We're rich!" "No, we were already rich. Now we're rich AND powerful!" Isela happily anticipates AS's envy. Isela tells Mini her plan: Mini will do both of their jobs, and Isela will shop full-time.

Mini is offended. "No! We should shop together!" But Isela is adamant that Mini will spend all of her time at work. She calls for Ines - I mean Ivonne - to fetch some reports for Mini to review. She also tells Mini to fire that damned photographer.

"You scare me, Isela!" Mini murmurs at her mother's already-vacant chair.

Lupe is on the phone with Ahole. "I told you I was going to pursue an annulment. What did you expect?" Ahole threatens her: Drop the divorce, or you can't have custody. Lupe asks, why won't he give up this marriage? His answer amounts to, "because."

"I'll fight you!" Lupe replies.

Mati enters the kitchen. "How are you doing?" she asks Lupita.

Next Time: Lupe confronts Mini (again); Ahole gnashes his teeth; someone has a hot date in a bedroom full of candles. (OR DO THEY??) Till then, nanu-nanu!

And: RIP Robin Williams.

Shazbot.
:-(

Julie:

I'll wait to comment until you get your recap up in the morning.

I too wish RIP for Robin Williams.

Absolutely. may the peace of the Lord be with him... Nano-Nano.

I'm still typing! So much to report!!

DONE. Hoo boy. Supposedly this was a complete episode, but it seemed very choppy. Did Emiliano really not know anything about the surgery? What's going on with Frida? And AS? And Leo? What about the million-dollar bonus on the house?

And, now that Nepo has ASKED for an "explanation," will he listen if he gets one? Not that anyone really owes him an explanation...

Julie, great job!
I loved MA's smile when Chuy told him he is the only one that draws out Lupe's lovely smile...

one little bit.. it was Rita that told Nepo 'you think I go after every woman that I meet?', not him telling her.

In the previews, before Lupe goes after Mini, it seemed that Lupe overheard Mini tell someone 'after all you had me do for you' or stte... which leads everyone to believe Lupe just heard the confirmation about the 'set-up' of Mini/MA in bed.

I for one like the fact that both Lupe and CHuy seem to now give MA the benefit of the doubt regarding that 'set-up' scene with Mini/MA BEFORE the evidence comes...

loved Chuy and MA's conversation. Chuy admitting that everything MA has been doing for them has spoken well of MA... and mutual respect goes a long way.

and ITA about them treating the biopsy / negative results as a wham-bam-thank-you-mam-scare-over deal.
Sometimes they even get chemo even when biopsy turns out negative.

Not sure i like Frida saying she can choose the parents of her kid.

LOVED Mati telling it to A-hole... you ain't fooling me.

Julie:

Thank you for this marvelous recap!

Isela and Mini in charge! Say it isn't so? And we all thought AS was bad with the RP money.

AS was so funny this episode. I had to laugh at Chabella and Bebe staring at AS as she dunked her biscotti in her coffee. That is so not done, no dunking in public, lol. I wonder what AS' new idea is.

I am liking Lupe constantly standing up to Ahole. She finally has her mojo back. Ahole's lawyers are sleazes.

Nepo I can't even go there. What a colossal putz he is! I'm so glad both Guendy and Rita let him have it.

Frida choosing the bebe's parents? I wonder where this is going.

Julie, how funny that you have done recaps for two episodes of two novelas where the groom dies before he can consummate his marriage. Thanks you for your great recap on this occasion.

I loved Isela shouting "Arráncame la ropa" "Rip off my clothes". Isela was surprisingly so exuberant to be with don Lauro. Well, at least don Lauro died with a big smile on his face. I also loved how Isela quickly changed the wedding to a wake so the guests didn't have to come back and her comment about not having forgotten to be a widow.

Minerva and Isela were spectacular also in the board room. I doubt Minerva's actual involvement watching out for her mother's interest will last long now that she knows Isela will be out spending money and shopping. I wonder if Minerva will have portraits of her two "papis " on her office wall now.

Nepo needs an anvil after what he said warning Güendy about Rita. He always uses the excuse that he just doesn't get the gay thing but instead of keeping his mouth shut, he never misses the opportunity to be plain old mean. There is something wrong with him. If Güendy is smart she will break the engagement .

So, don Chuy has made peace with MA.

I did not like doña Mati talk about being reunited with don Aureliano. : (

Jarifa

" . . . doña Mati's talk about . . . ". That sound better now!

Jarifa

Thank you for your splendid recap. And thank you for your nod to Robin Williams.

Mads: Dunking! D'oh! So that's why they were staring at AS. Well, if they're too fancy to dunk, that's their loss.

Jarifa, I didn't like the way Mati was talking about death either, but she's been hankerin' for Aureliano since the very first episode. Hmm... if it's not okay for Chuy to think that way about his Marcelita, why is it okay for Mati? Is it a matter of age? If so, what is the cutoff age?

It seems Isela's moment with Don Lauro awakened a lot of pent-up horniness after years and years of being a widow and criticizing Mini for being a sex maniac. You'd think she'd be in much greater distress after Lauro gave up the ghost too soon, but fortunately, she bounced back quickly. ;-)

I am still laughing about that scene with AS dunking that biscotti. I think they were also aghast that she was moaning in pleasure eating that biscotti, lol. Could it be that maybe AS is a secret foodie for La Nopalera food and that she and we just don't know it? Hmmmm.......

My fav Isela line last night, besides 'quitame la ropa!' was stte of 'its been so long of 'nada de nada' that I feel like I am a virgin all over again!'
and i could not believe she and Mini were jumping for joy about being 'millonetas' right there just seconds after the poor man died with such a happy face!

Marta, what got me even more than that was when Mini and Isela were hugging outside, in front of all their guests, and Isela's loud sobbing sounded suspiciously like muffled laughter!

I'm shocked that Beba and Chabelita didn't start saying tacky things right away. Perhaps they're saving their nasty comments for El Cloob.

Did Isela tell Minerva that it's more respectable to be a widow than a divorcee? Someone said that to someone, but I don't remember who!

Julie:

It was Chabella at Isela's wedding. I couldn't believe it and Mini made her little moue face.

It was a choppy episode but lots of fun anyway. Love your line about the blood rushing to Lauro's head without saying which head. Min and Isela on the board God help us all. The business will be in the toilet before we know it.And the looks on Ahole and MA's faces when they walked in was worth the price of admission.

So we have a breast cancer story over in a week - only in Novelaland.

AS never even noticed what she was doing in front of the snotty twins. Hilarious. She does miss the days in Nopelera but doesn't know it yet. Well, she does have two weeks for it to happen.

Very interesting watching what an ignorant pig Nepo is. It is a tribute to an actor I've never seen play such a rotten character that he pulls it off so effortlessly. What can't Peniche do?

I wonder how the Menchacas explained to Emilhole why his mother is bed. I'm sure if thy told him the truth he would blab to Ahole who would try to find a way to use it against her.

Thank you again, Julie. You always do a fabulous job!
First Mati and Tulio meet in the office privately, then at the Board meeting Tulio tells all about selling his shares, then Mati has a secret, knowing smile while watching MA and Alejo react to the news. I suspect that Mati and Tulio cooked up a story to see how the boys reacted, don't you?
I didn't see the preview but a dinner table with lots of candles sounds like it could be a promising development. It's time for a little more romance between MA and Lupita I think!

Cathyx said yesterday that with Nepo it's like Lucy, Charlie Brown, and the football again and again. I'm still laughing at that one, but I'm also wondering about Nepo's fate. He is running out of time. I really don't like miraculous overnight transformations, but we are getting to the point where that's what it will take. Otherwise, at best, he has to end up alone. At worst, dead or crippled or in prison due to some alcohol-related incident.

I'm not impressed with AS either, but at least she's learned how to dunk biscotti, which is apparently more than Nepo has managed to learn since before Diego was born. I'm still waiting for her to own up to stealing the Menchacas' money, though. (I hope THAT wasn't among the things that Univision cut last week!)

I think Nepo is going to get a hard lesson on the consequences of hate speech and homophobia. If you take a quick look at those montage advances which cover the rest of the series there is a scene with Diego that may be Nepo's wakeup call. Not saying what it is but it sure should wake him up to the things Rita has been trying to tell him. And frankly I think Gwendy should give him a couple of good cracks across the face for the things he has been saying to Rita and for that matter Diego.

Oh, Decie - I know what you're talking about that. I had forgotten. Did we see that last week? I tried slow-framing through it and still couldn't make out who all of the involved parties were, but it looked serious.

I don't think slapping Nepo will help. Gwendy should dump him if they ever need to have this conversation again. I understand why she doesn't want to - she's carried a torch for him for such a long time that it's hard to let go. She doesn't want to feel as though all that time was wasted. But there's no sense in wasting even more time hoping he'll change.

Ann - the thing about Lauro buying the other zombies' shares isn't just a wild story hatched by Mati and Tulio, if that's what you mean. Isela and Mini discussed the share purchases last week during one of Lauro's bathroom visits.

Hmm. Maybe they said he'd already bought Flavio's and was going to buy Tulio's soon. I guess it's possible that Tulio didn't get a chance to sell them yet - or even that Tulio bought all of Lauro's!

Er, shouldn't someone at the Editorial be paying attention to these things?

I'm wondering how AS will react to finding out that Isela is now a big part of the business and the profits.

We all know that Telenovela conversions do happen over night whether we believe it or not. Then again Saul was miraculously converted into Paul on the road to Damascus so there is precedence. So we may soon see a gay accepting Nepo, and a less snobby let me go back to La Nopelra AS. Oh yeah and Emilhole may return to being his sweet little self. LOL

Thnaks for the recap, Julie.

About Frida's choice for her baby's parents - I have a hunch it will NOT be the two sterile characters of the show - neither Alejo nor Mini.

About Nepo - he has been mind-numbingly stubborn from day-1. Lupe told him directly that she doesn't want to be his novia, not now, not ever, and still he was adamant that she's "his" Lupita. Diego told him directly that he wanted something else in life instead of soccer, and Nepo continued as if Diego never said it. Mike tried to convince Nepo that Trofeo could do more than be Nepo's lackey, and Nepo blew him off. It's not just that Nepo is anti-gay. It's that everything in his head is hard-wired and he can't be reprogrammed. It's like trying to use your skateboard as a cell phone - it started life as a skateboard and it will end its life as a skateboard; nothing will change.

Now, about Isela. If she hold everyone's shares except the RP's, that's a big voting block. Probably enough to swing any vote. IOW if MA and Alejo lock horns, whichever gets Isela's votes will prevail. Hmm.

Paula H.

Tulio said that Lauro bought all of Flavio's shares before F went away. Tulio also said in the board room in front of the RPs that HE (Tulio) had sold his shares to Lauro and he was retiring. Unfortunately, Lauro had passed away. Ahole screamed, "So where are they now, where are those shares?!" That's when Tulio replied, "Just before he died, Lauro got married and signed everything over to his wife." So who is she? Who is his wife? Cue Mini and Isela!! Hilarious.

So after the Ruiz-Palacios, the Tarantulas are the most important shareholders.

Ingrid Martz's forte is definitely comedy. I love her in this tn. She keeps getting better all the time. From an almost forgettable sidekick to Ana Brenda in LQNPA, to the funny and impeccably attired SHUTUPDORIS in CI, to the hilarious Minerva here, she makes me look forward to whatever her next project will be.

Thank you, Julie! So fun. I especially liked "Isela invites the paparazzi to take pictures. (I mean pictures now, at the reception. Not pix of their wedding night!)"

I wouldn't have put it past her! If she could have sold those to a tabloid, I'm sure she would have!

So we actually learn what happened to the third zombie. Sounds like he made out a lot better than poor Lauro!

Nepo is an unchangeable block of idiotic stubbornness, and sweet, fun, loving Guendy deserves much better. How can she still want to marry him? Even if she somehow trains him to stop saying such hateful and bigoted things, won't she worry that he's still thinking them?

I like the way you described Nepo's hard-wired nature, Paula. I think Guendy is in for a very frustrating life if she goes through with the wedding. He is completely inflexible. New information flows right past him and never flutters a single brain cell.

I hope MA and Mati are smart enough to give Mine and Isela an office suite away from the real work and some titles and duties that sound impressive but don't require them to actually do anything of consequence, so that meanwhile someone else can actually be making all the editorial decisions.

I think the magazine should do an in-depth story on Maca, impersonator of countess. That would be a good read! And we could find out what she's up to now!

I'd also like to see both Leo and Diego get involved with the magazine. Heaven knows Leo knows more about style than MA does. They could do arty things with staff who have actual technical skills to back up their ideas.

Thanks for this funny recap, Julie!

The boardroom scene was great. It's fun seeing MA and Ahole in agreement about their exasperation with Mini.

Nepo is so insecure in his masculinity. I wish he knew how long everyone has been rolling their eyes at him. He acts so proud, yet he embarrasses himself almost every time he opens his mouth.

I want to see Maca again too. She disappeared so quickly. I can't remember if she and Leo even got a divorce.

Rikki

Thanks, Anon 3:53. What Tulio SAID to the board in front of the RPs isn't really in question. What Ann is questioning (and now I'm questioning it too) is whether or not Tulio actually DID sell those shares to Lauro.

He HAD planned to sell them to Lauro, but it's possible that he ended up doing something else. Like, sold his shares to Mati instead.

Or he could have BOUGHT all of Lauro's (which would include Flavio's too). Then, Lauro would have had NO shares when he died.

Since it appears that Mati and Tulio are the only ones who are keeping track of the shares now, and it's probably too soon for Mini and Mom to have received an exact accounting of all of Lauro's estate yet, it might be some time before Mati and Tulio have to reveal their little joke, if they actually share one.

Paula, I agree with you about Nepo, but he's been more or less on the good-guy side (sort of) all along, and we want Guendy to be happy, so it's hard for me to accept that Nepo will have an awful outcome. Unless Guendy dumps him and somehow coughs up a great galan really quick (and can convince me that said galan isn't just a rebound guy).

I like Guendy with Saul better, but she sure threw him over fast when Nepo proposed.

I don't think Nepo needs a terrible ending, but being alone because he's alienated everyone with his harsh judgments and stubborn egotism would be fitting. Or he could hook up with either Minerva or AS...they are so much the same; they could ignore each other happily ever after.

Thanks, Julie.
I so enjoyed your recap."The Menchacas have been group-hugging all through the wedding, a commercial break, and the opening credits." Ja ja.
Can anyone tell me what ITA means in tele-blogger speak? I'm a little new at this.

Denise

Could it be that Nepo is gay and doesn't realize it but is subconsciously afraid he is and that's where his anger towards the lifestyle is coming from?

Denise:

Welcome. I don't think I've seen you comment before. ITA means I Too Agree.

Anon 5:24 - interesting question. I don't know if Nepo would have been able to get it on with Gwendy that first night when they were super-drunk if he were gay. But on the other hand...

Nepo is just dense enough not to be aware of his own feelings. And the fact that he thinks that it's so easy to "convert" a straight guy makes you wonder just how secure he is about his own orientation.

Plus, the way his mind seems to dwell on the graphic, physical, bleepable details of gay sex. And the way he held onto his obsession with Lupe - a woman who would barely tolerate a cheek-kiss from him. He could beg her for sex from now till doomsday without ever worrying that she'll give in!

And, you know, there's that whole banana thing. Come ON.

Episode 155 from Mexico

Denise, I've also seen ITA as "I Totally Agree."

Excellent analysis, Julie. Nepo certainly seems to think about gay sex constantly! And yes, it is suspicious that he thinks he's so easy to convince a "straight" guy to think he's gay. Dost he protest too much?

On the other (other other) hand, Nepo doesn't seem to be attracted to any men. I mean, there aren't any men that he hangs around with much except for Trofeo, and he treats Trofeo like a...

Oh.

Never mind. I guess that doesn't prove anything. ;-)

In an episode, Nepo was eating a banana and I was just about ready to crack up at the irony; he claims to be the most heterosexual male in existence but is the king of the most phallic fruit and to add insult to injury is entering it in his mouth LMAO.
