Mi corazon es tuyo, Capitulo 19, 08/14/2014 Family portrait

Seven kids in the house, but it takes a weasel to make a family
Fernando and Ana are in Fer’s room.
She is trying to catch the strange animal that he found in his bed, so she crawls on the carpet, calling for the creatures, while he acts like a freaked out damsel (isn’t that nice, for a change?).
Their eyes meet for a second and it looks like they are about to kiss, but then the kids rush into the room, one by one, and then the adults, too (Nico, Bruno, Manuela). Ana manages to find the animal and the younger kids introduce it as their new pet, Nandito. Nando doesn’t look too happy to share a name with such an animal, but Fanny is more than willing to help Luz and the boys convince Fer to keep it in the house. Ana, Bruno and Nico also try to convince the boss, but he is very serious and very allergic to the furry one, so it doesn’t look like he’s going to play nice.
Deciding this would be a great moment to change the dynamic in the room, Ana starts a pillow fight, one that the kids and even Fernando eventually join, all laughing and having the time of their lives, while Nico, Bruno and Manuela watch from the sidelines. I would have thought that Manuela would be freaked out by all the cleaning that pillow feathers dancing in the air imply, but she doesn’t look worried, she just thinks that Don Fernando should marry Ana. The men agree with her: this is how a family should look like and thanks God that they are all a family again.

At Chicago Club, Jonny is saying something suspicious to one of Doroteo’s guys, I think; Jen sees the whole exchange, although she can’t hear what they are talking about.

Back at the house, Fernando’s room is spotless again and I wonder how long it took the actual cleaning crew to get rid of all the mess the pillow fight caused. Never mind that, though, Ana is straightening the already perfect bed comforter and the kids are in their rooms, I presume. Fernando thanks the nanny for making him laugh earlier and for being by his side at the hospital when Nando was sick; and most of all, he thanks her for loving his kids.
He is just so appreciative of her, he doesn’t know what he would do if she ever left, so he asks her to never leave him.
(And never in his speech does he mention that his kids need her or that she shouldn’t leave them – nope, this is all about Fernando’s feelings – at least he has the courage not to hide behind the kids - nice! And the chemistry between JS and SN is starting to show – I saw it the other day at the restaurant, too, but now it’s becoming more and more obvious, they really look like two persons who are about to fall in love with one another.)
Ana is overwhelmed by his pleas and she promises that she won’t leave (you’d have to be a rock not to feel all mushy inside at his request). They are getting very close again and they are about to kiss, when Fanny interrupts them with news about her new car.
(Ugh, Fanny! Hashtag #worst timing ever!).
Fanny wonders what is going on for a quick second, but then she brushes it off, thanks her dad for the new wheels and asks Ana to come to her room.
(Which makes me wonder: how would Fanny react if Ana and Fer hooked up formally now? Is she only against Isabitch, or against the idea of her dad finding someone else so soon after her mom’s death?)
After Fanny is gone, Ana leaves, too, but gives Fernando one very alluring look and seductively moves her hips on the way out of the room. Fer seems to enjoy the show. (And wait until he sees her actual show and knows it is her doing the dancing, not Lola)

Ana goes to Fanny’s room, where they start talking about how amazing Leon is and how much Fanny loves him and how she wants him to be her first. Ana is very happy for Fanny, she can recognize true love when she sees it, because she knows how that feel like very well, too. She’s thinking of Fernando, but she changes the subject before the girl can realize that something fishy is going on.
Fanny is much too preoccupied with Leon thoughts, anyway, especially now that she met his mom. She really liked her, but the problem is that the lady lives in a vecindad (which is almost a ghetto, by the way she says it); she does love Leon and they are both determined to make their relationship work, but they are so different, she is afraid that things might not turn out well for them. Ana tries to tell her that money or social status shouldn’t matter to her, but I agree with Fanny on this one. I think her concern is legitimate, because she and Leon are light years apart when it comes to life style and expectations. Maybe their story will be less about the usual telenovela clichés of breaking up couples over silly misunderstandings and complete dumping down of characters and more about the problems that a couple like them will have when they try to merge their worlds.
I guess time will tell.
Jen calls Ana to warn her that Jonny is up to something. Ana confides in Fanny about Nicolas being involved with her best friend. Fanny is surprised, but the more she knows, the easier it will be later on for Ana to have her as an ally when the truth explodes and Fer will throw his hissy fit (that we all know is coming).

Fer is in his office downstairs with Nico and the older man wants to know what Fer thinks about Jennifer. Fer only wants his father to be happy, he won’t interfere.
Nico asks his son if he is happy; earlier with Ana and the kids, they all looked like a family. Fer seems surprised, but has to admit how attracted he is to Ana. Nico asks him to consider the possibility of prolonging the happiness he felt earlier – why couldn’t Ana be a good mom to his kids and a good wife to him?
In the meantime Bruno sneaks out of the house. I wonder what that’s all about.

The next day Fanny’s ex overhears Ximena and the other girl talking about Leon’s mom being a street vendor at their school. Then he sees Fanny with Leon and makes fun of Leon’s poverty. They get into a punching match that is eventually broken off, but this is not the last we’ve seen of this resentful ex.

Sebastian is wearing a soccer uniform, but he’s unhappy because his team lost the match and he even managed to score a goal against his own (which is pretty much the worst thing you could do in soccer). The twins are making fun of him, so much so that he starts crying. Ana tries to cheer him up, telling him how much she admires him and how courageous she thinks that he is because he is doing something that he doesn’t like and he’s not good at just to please his father. She knows what that feels like (I thought poll dancing was her way of expressing her art, now she doesn’t like it anymore?)
After Sebas runs upstairs for a much needed bath, Ana goes to the kitchen and gives Manuela some Bruno advice. Manuela is unhappy because the tactic of being cold with Bruno isn’t working, so Ana has another brilliant idea (so she says).

Jonny is remembering the good old days when Ana loved him and wanted to marry him and have a lot of Jonny Jrs. Apparently he bought her a gift. It doesn’t take a genius to guess what he’s planning.

Jonny and Isaboba must have drank from the same well of stupidity, because she is all over Fernando, too, practically begging him to accept a dinner invitation, because she feels bad for the way she behaved at the restaurant the other day (don’t worry about it, Isa, I’m sure Fer had a great time not spending his night with you). Fer really isn’t interested – he has work to do, he wants to spend time with the kids – and the nana, Isa mutters, but is able to keep her cool long enough to convince him to join her that night.

Bruno is surprised that Manuela has finally agreed to talk to him again. Well, she has news: the handsome neighbor down the street has offered her a job and she plans to accept it. Bruno doesn’t look happy, he thinks that Manuela shouldn’t accept because she already has a great job, great pay and, besides, the neighbor is gay. Manuela doesn’t think so, if there is a gay around that would be Bruno. No, Sir, he’s not! And to prove that, he plants a big wet one on Manuela and then leaves her shaking on her heels. Manuela is smiling ear to ear, thinking out loud that Ana sure is smart when it comes to men.

Nico and Jenifer spend the day together at the Botanical Garden, taking photos, holding hands and kissing (bleach). If the producers could use that space, why not take the kids on a road trip, have Ana and Fernando kiss between the ficus trees?

Well, maybe that’s because Ana and Fernando have other plans. They are both going out tonight. Fer is meeting Isabore, which Ana doesn’t like, but she doesn’t admit to meeting Jonny. In the meantime Isa is trying to choose an outfit for her night with Fernando – all her dresses look the same to me, they are the type of outfit that telenovela women can either wear at work, a cocktail party or as simple housewives who do nothing but browse fashion magazines all day.

Indecently out of place proposals

Fernando arrives for his date and Isaloca has prepared an entire soirée, outdoors, with an intimate, private table, an orchestra, champagne and some torches. (Yes, torches! Maybe she couldn’t find any fireworks at the house of crazy where she usually does her shopping.)
This would be a very nice, romantic setting, if it didn’t come from a desperate woman who is trying to propose to the man that isn’t even calling her his girlfriend yet (or ever, after tonight).

In the meantime Ana is at the club, doing her usual dance routine, when Jonny stops the music, kills the lights and goes on stage. He starts to say how much he loves Ana and how much he wants to be with her; Ana can see what is coming and she practically begs him not to do it, but he doesn’t listen. Instead, he bends on one knee and pops the question, in the cheers of the audience…
… at the same time when Isa is telling Fernando how much she loves him and how she wants to become a mother to his kids and have some more kids, too (more kids??). And she pops the question, too.

Split screen of Ana and Fernando. Ana looks sad and upset; Fernando looks stunned and embarrassed.
But, thank God, they both say no! (I was really afraid for a second.)
Isadumped runs away crying and Ana leaves Jony alone on stage.

Later on Jen congratulates Ana for making the right decision. Ana feels bad for Jonny, because she does care about him even if she doesn’t love him anymore. Jen thinks that honesty is the best policy and besides, now Ana is in love with Fernando. Ana admits that Fernando has provoked a before and an after in her life, that she will never be the same again now that she loves him. When they shared that moment with the kids in his room, she felt like belonging to his family, like being his wife, but she thinks that he doesn’t feel the same way, because he went out on a date with that tarantula.

And talking about the lovely lady, Isabawl arrives home, screaming that Fernando has rejected her proposal and now everything is ruined. Her mother looks less worried about her daughter’s heartbreak and more concerned about finding a way to pay the torches and the musicians.

Ana arrives home, too and she and Nando talk about Ximena. He admits that she was right and Ximena was only using him. He knew that, but he didn’t know of any other way to win her love. Ana tells him that love should never be given in exchange of favors, loves has to come willingly. And even if he doesn’t believe it now, there is a girl out there who will love him and only him, just the way he is. She calls him son, which he notices, but he doesn’t seem to mind. She also tells him how beautiful he is, both on the inside and on the outside.
Really good scene, well played by both actors. For a show that is pretending to be a comedy, I find myself weeping more than genuinely smiling.

Fernando has arrived home, too and he’s talking to his father and Bruno about Isa’s proposal. Both men are afraid that Fer might have said yes. They do their best to hide their dislike for Isa, but only someone as blind as Fernando would not see how truly unlikable that creature really is.
Anyway, he tells them that he didn’t accept the proposal because… well, because he is in love with Ana.

Previews:
Isa and mom talk about the nanny being smarter because she won the kids
Fernando is arguing with the kids
Jen has a tummy ache. It looks serious
Jonny punches Fernando!!

Adriana Noel, you are so funny with your "Isaboba" and "Isaloca" and " . . . but it takes a weasel to make a family." Thanks for entertaining me this a.m.

They did a good job with the parallel marriage proposals and how we got to the truth that Fernando is in love with Ana so early on in this novela. Unfortunately, from the previews we also got more than a hint of how the budding romance is going to be derailed. Loved the Bruno Manuela kiss.

Adriana, great great job!
loved your subtitle

Seven kids in the house, but it takes a weasel to make a family

Loved the fact that Nico joined them all in the bed when Fernando shouted for his father to help him when he had a few kids on him... and Nico jumped into the bed over all of them, totally laughing it out loud...

When he thanked her, Fernando told Ana 'i thank you for existing...' (this is what first put her on freeze swooning face) right before he asked her not to leave him...

btw, the Nico / Fernando scene was in Fernando's room, not the office. and Nico did not ask whether he thought Ana would be a great mom for the kids and an excellent companera for him. he said it firmly. Fernando started considering it, per his facial expression.

At the final scene in the office, the whole thing was great..
Fernando noticed that neither Bruno nor Nico were fond of IsaSkank and he flat out asked Nico 'since when do you not like Isa?' to which Nico answered 'since... 1815'. (That totally got me rolling on the couch laughing)... and then Nico explained to Bruno that Fer did not accept the proposal from Isa because Fer was in love with another woman. Bruno asked who? and Nico said 'I will let Fernando answer that'... Fer said
'Ana.... I am in love with the nanny'. And then he put such a lovely content face i just melted...
ITA with you Adriana that for being a comedy, this show has some really emotional scenes and the acting by all adults (what a cast!!) and the older kids, esp 'Fanny', 'Leon' and 'Nando' is awesome.

yes i am afraid the romance will be derailed, from several ends... IsaSkank will scheme to separate them, even blackmail him...
also the big boss at the club might threaten Ana that even if she finds a way to pay the contract and tries to leave, he might hurt those she loves (and we would think he would learn from Johny about the Lasc family so they would be included in the threat...)... I hope not, this is supposed to be a comedy, but that is my guess per televisa history.
I also agree that I would want the Fanny/Leo couple to be shaken by themselves and their differences, not by the ex scheeming or some blood relation / resentments to surface.

Adriana Noel, this was wonderful. "Seven kids in the house, but it takes a weasel to make a family"; "Jonny and Isaboba must have drank from the same well of stupidity"; " Indecently out of place proposals" and "They do their best to hide their dislike for Isa, but only someone as blind as Fernando would not see how truly unlikable that creature really is" were among my many favorites.

I was also relieved that both marriage proposals were rejected. I suspect neither Isa or Johnny will take this well and no spoiler, but revenge will surely be added to their agendas (well, definitely to Isa's).

Isa's character is being played as so insincere, without softness, kindness or sincerity. The only reason Fer must have warmed up to her was physical and the rest of her is icy and forbidding.

Someone mentioned the other day that Carmen Salines seems miscast as Isa's mother. I agree. I adore the actress and simply don't buy her being the mother of such a treacherous woman.

martaivett, thank you for adding the interesting tidbit about when Nico started not liking Isa. Loved the answer.

My main concern now is Jen....

Thank you so much Adriana Noel!

Diana

Thank you, Adriana, for the wonderful recap.

I also enjoyed the kiss between Bruno and Manuela. Rene Casados makes some priceless, comedic facial expressions. BTW, did Bruno handle a deck of cards like a casino dealer as he mysteriously exited the house? It happened so quickly, I wasn't certain about what I saw.

In this capitulo, I also liked Ana's I-know-you-really-want-me swag as she left Fer's bedroom.

As for Nando, he certainly has a wonderful family who loves him deeply. That's a blessing that can positively counteract all of the garbage from his peers.

Wonderful Adriana! Loved your recap, loved so much of the episode.

Thank the heavens the actual proposals were rejected. Gees, Johny, someone says " I don't love you" so heck, what to do but go out and do a big splashy proposal. yes, I know, don't like the character, but that was so stupid.
Unfortunately, we know we haven't heard the last of either of these two pains in the *****. But at least Fer and Ana came to the conclusion as to who they really LOVE, which sometimes is tap-danced around for half the TN.

Speaking of love conquers all, Fanny and Leon will have a struggle. There still has to be some other secret since Fanny knows Leon's financial status, but I do like that perhaps, as suggested, this story line will be about Fanny/Leon's journey to work thru those differences. More growing on Fanny's part I think, but I have faith in the girl. The secret---hopefully Leon doesn't have some sort of illness?

Speaking of illness...poor Jen. What's going on there?

Nando is the sweetest. Not sure now I really want a makeover for him. I want someone to fall for him just as he is.

So much to smile over last night, but that only means the possible "uglies" are right around the corner.

When the #$%#% hits the fan about Ana's double life with Fernando,
I want Nico and Bruno to play the John Candy role in 'Splash'...
when Alan says 'i fell in love with ... a mermaid!' and John Candy's character replies 'nobody's perfect!!'

Really enjoyed this episode, especially how both Johnny and Isabela went for the jugular and ended up being burnt them**

*** We interrupt this post to bring a public service message from the Ferret Anti defamation League:

We at the FADL would like to kindly remind the general public that a ferret is in no way like a weasel:

Weasel: Treacherous, ferret: Loyal
Weasel: Conniving, ferret: Trustworthy
Weasel: Shifty looking, ferret, uber cute!

For this reason we respectfully request that such an cute, adorable and overall super-good=guy creature not be confused with a weasel. Thank you ***

We now return the normally scheduled post

**selves. The parallel scenes were very effective symbolizing how both Fernando and Ana were thinking of each other when they said "No, way Jose" even if no verbal mention was made of the real reason why they said no.

And the ending could not have been better as Fernando did not hesitate in admitting that he is taken by the Nanny.

Adriana Noel here

Thank you for filling in the gaps, Marta.

The 1815 line did make me laugh out loud, but I forgot to add it to my recapping notes :(

Diana, I, too, think that so far Isa has been mostly an insincere hypocrite who lies all the time, but nothing else. Let's see how she improves her game after this latest faux pas.

Ecuador Bound: "Ana's I-know-you-really-want-me swag" - perfect description, I loved it!

Great Adriana.

"Indecently out of place proposals" "(Ugh, Fanny! Hashtag #worst timing ever!)".

I'm not convinced either, that Fanny will be ok with her father and Ana being together

Ana - lord, I pray Juan doesn't post those nudes

Yolanda - need a receipt for return & refund, what's a receipt?

Isabela - gone in 60 seconds

Gus - and the a**wipe of the evening award goes to...

Bruno - ever play UNO or Crazy Eights

Fernando - I'm thinking of extending her employment contract after the probationary period

Nic - facepalm

Jennifer - I'm trying, really I am, just can't get my head around it

Nando - people really care about me, huh

Manuela - oldest trick in the book

Leon - climbing down is harder than climbing up

Very nice recap, Adriana!

I'm dreading the anvil that is about to fall. Things are looking much too good for this stage of the show. Will it be an Isabel pregnancy--real or false? Will it be Fernando finding out about Ana's night job? Will it be some annoying and contrived misunderstanding?

I am getting tired of Johnny, by the way. In my opinion, he was fine as the "trainer boyfriend," as the embodiment of what Ana was happy to settle for before her horizons broadened. And he was even okay as the clueless guy who just didn't accept how Ana was growing away from him after she got the nanny job. But once she told him it was over (which came even before the restaurant scene, right?) he's become that telenovela cliche, the guy who won't take no for an answer and who thinks that there's some magical solution, some romantic gesture, that will win over the object of his devotion. (Nepo on QPTR, anyone?)

Thanks Adriana for the great recap!

Really enjoying this show but since we are really just at the beginning, I fear a CI like winding down to last episode coming together.

And where are all of the other characters from the opening credits? I want to see how Fer's brother shakes up the house!

Great stuff, Adriana.

That ferret is so cute I'm sorry he won't be a permanent cast member.

The Bruno/Manuela kiss did nothing for me; it was too forced.

The parallel marriage proposals, though, was telling. I was afraid that either would accept, but at least Fernando was enough of a man to be honest with Isabobo.

Johnny, however, was a total coward proposing to Ana so publicly. It was as if he thought she would accept or make him lose face. Not cool.

Thanks for the recap, Adriana.

I'm wondering about the men in black who appeared just in time to save Leon from being beaten up. School security? Or bodyguards?

The main plot to this TN is so obvious, but the side stories are keeping it interesting. And I love the actors.

Agree with you completely Utah. That's why my dislike of the Johny character is escalating with every episode. I just have this sick feeling either they will have Ana pull the old "well if I can't have the man I want, I'll take the loser over there" scenario, or Johny will become more and more obsessed with trying to discredit Fer or win Ana over. Both tired cliches and not worth the time on our screens.

They are doing such a nice job with the family and Ana, that loser in no way, shape or form would fit into her life as their Nanny. And frankly, except for the young dudes, there isn't any decent man candy for us ladies outside of Jorge yet. Johny doesn't even come close. This needs to be rectified soon with our other male stars and make him go away. Fast.

Daisynjay

I wonder what character Norma Herrera will play (Ana's mom? related to Leon? Nico's ex [not Fer's mom]?). her char name is Soledad.

Thank you Adriana, terrific work. We all have to expect the romance to be stopped because it's waaaay to early for it to happen.
So either Isabela is pregnant, we know she wasn't feeling well one day, or Ana's other job interferes somehow. Or maybe both.

What is Bruno's secret? He leaves the house dressed up, so I'm guessing he has another job. So the question then is, why? Maybe he has a wife who is committed to a mental hospital or is in a coma, he needs the money for her care, and that is why Bruno won't start something with Manuela. But that's just my suppositions.

if this novela gets extended, as the good ratings in Mex would indicate, i would like it to get extended but not before a wedding... this happened back in Mundo de Juguete and with Carita de Angel (a new version of same story) and it did well in 2nd half. In both of these the rich guy married the nun who was the little girl's teacher... and they married part of the way through.
But please, it if is extended, let the extension be not silly and be meaningful on the storyline. I love the chemistry between JS and SN and also just as much the chemistry between JS and RI (Nico).

Adriana: great recap. Thanks.

Haven't read the comments yet, but did anyone else feel a little cringy when Fan, and then Ana, were waving the scissors around?

Nico and Jen don't gross me out. I'm enjoying their relationship. However, I don't think it will last. There is too big of an age difference for a long term relationship.

Nanette

I felt kinda uncomfortable when Ana was talking to Nando and she kept trying to cover up in that coat

Ana was probably still wearing her pole dancing outfit under the coat since she ran out of the proposal scene... so she was trying to cover up her chest.

Ana could change into street clothes and sensible shoes when she comes back to the house. She began to take off all the dark eyeliner and straighten her hair so just change. She is going to be uncovered soon, just why risk it being this way.

Adriana Noel, I laughed at "Ugh, Fanny! Hashtag #worst timing ever!" I watched LQLVMR first last night thinking to watch MCET this morning, but after all the darkness and disturbing preview, I just couldn't sleep so decided to watch a little of Fer and Ana in action to get some comedic relief and boy did I get it!

Best scene was Fer, standing on the chair and yelling at Ana to catch the ferret. I laughed so much, and then the pillow fight. They really seemed like a complete family. How long will it last?

Daisynjay: "Nando is the sweetest. Not sure now I really want a makeover for him. I want someone to fall for him just as he is." I agree! He is super cute, just a little less hair product, but I too hope someone likes him for who he is soon. He was very attentive to Ana last night, I hope the writers don't take us in the direction of him developing a crush on her, while his dad is in love with her too. That would be too awkward!

Cathyx, I am also intrigued as to what Bruno is up to at night. Hope we get a hint soon. Tofie, great list as usual. How do you come up with all that?

I was hoping enough time had past tht Isa couldn't fake a pregnancy.

Doubt Isabel will have to fake anything when Fernando discovers his nanny is a stripper. She wins by default.

Isabela was talking about raising his children and their children before popping the question.

Salvador, your psa for ferret aporeciation was too funny!

Jarifa

I'd put dinero on Isabitch faking a pregnancy to trap Fernando no matter what anyone finds out about Ana who -- BTW -- isn't a stripper.

It's practically a TN law that in these situations a protagonist has to marry a villain for some period of time and not consummate the union. If this series is popular and gets an extension you know that it's likely to happen.

In all of the interactions between Fernando and Isabel, I have not ONCE seen him enthusiastic about being with her - not even when they did the deed. And she seems to know that he isn't all that into her. So how, then, could she be surprised about his feelings for her? Her cries of "Fernando doesn't love me! He doesn't love me!" as if she's shocked this is the case, just seem so stupid. Did she really expect him to fall all over her and accept her proposal? I guess she did!

Adriana Noel here

Salvador, I stand corrected about weasels vs ferrets :)

Tofie, I hadn't even considered that Nando might fall for Ana and mistake her motherly affection for something else. Ewwwwwww..... but yeah, I can see that happening.

Marta, I would love it if this story turned into a Carita de Angel type, where the protas marry and then the story goes on for a while. I loved Carita just for that, but there the little girl was the main character, here the romantic couple is.

Nanette, it can't have been more than a few weeks between the time Isa and Fer went to that ranch and now... I can totally see Isa fake a pregnancy, especially since she sees how important kids are for him.
