Que Pobres Tan Ricos # 157 and 158: 8/14/14: Frida takes a Day Trip
Hola Amiguis! Due to a snafu it seems there was no recap for Wednesday, so I am combing capitulos 157 and 158. The Wednesday recap will be very short. Shall we begin?
Capitulo 157
The micro bus has been renamed Lupita and the Menchaca plus Rita, and Emi, Rita is driving get on the bus. Tizoc sings the micro bus song and some guy cuts Rita off. (Ed Note: The actor Rita hit is Brazilian I beleive last seen in Estcrito en las Estrellas) Anyways, Rita isn't happy and gets out of the bus when this guy insults her. She is so mad she head butts him and knocks him out. Chuy convinces Rita to move the bus and get out of there. They finally arrive at Xochimilco to the Our Lady of Sorrows Shrine. While the Menchaca are debarking here come the RP's that would be Dona Mati, AS, Leo and Frida, driven by chofer. MA takes his own car. The Menchaca are happy they could make it. AS has done a deal with two photographers and some actors. The actors are playing poor people that AS is giving alms to. She plays it up for these photographers and the "poor people" play right along. She gives them food and money I think. The photographers take pictures of AS and the "poor people" for El Editorial Magazine to show her largesse toward the needy. Frida and Leo roll their eyes.
All of them pray to the Virgin of Sorrows. Lupita asks for no more trouble for her or MA, Frida for good parents for her coming bebe, AS for never again losing her money, Rita for getting to know DA. Maty for her family. Emi prays and we find out later about what. They all are going on one of those pretty boats. AS is hesitant and Leo says think of it as a gandola from Venice. Too funny. Anyhoo, Lupe has been waiting for MA who hasn't shown yet. She gets on the boat and lo and behold, there is another boat that pulls up alongside and it's filled with Mariachi and MA, serenading Lupe. He hops onto the Menchaca boat and sings very off key. They all love it. MA wants a kiss but Lupe and MA do the bowing with the hands raised. Hmmmm.... Later they do kiss, but Beto has followed them to Xochimilco and takes pictures of them kissing. I think Ahole fires him?
Later, Leo and DA go out on the town to a club. It's not in La Nopalero but uptown some. Leo thinks he can get them into the club, but he can't. I think it's the dress code, plus the bouncers think they are gay. Anyways Leo and DA leave, with their arms around each other and are seen by three guys who are homophobes. Leo and DA get into a fight with these guys. At first it doesn't look good for Leo or DA, but Leo and DA kick all these guys butts and Leo has a great right hook. Leo injures his hand, and they hear the sirens of the cops coming. They take off. Leo goes home and soaks his hurting hand, and AS thinks this happened at La Nopalera, nopis, it was up town.
Emi prayed for Lupe and he to move in with Ahole and be a family. Eye roll! When the Menchaca come back there are the police to pick up Don Chuy, the charge is assaulting Ahole. They drag him off, but The Mencacha and Tomas follow. They all go to the police station and Tomas fights for Don Chuy, come to find out the head guy there is Tomas' Tio? The head guy lets Don Chuy go. End of 157.
Capitulo 158:
Ahole is chewing out his sleazy lawyers. They couldn't even get Don Chuy put in the jail. Never mind Vilma there in the jail. Ahole wonders if she'll blab. I think Ahole says he misses her because she could get it done. These sleazy lawyers think she won't talk.
DA tells Nepo about the fight he and Leo had with those hooligans. Nepo is somewhat miffed, but DA tells him he will not be a victim for some homophobes and goes.
Valerio, Ahole's new chofer, gives Ahole the pics that Beto left with him on that phone. Ahole sees Lupe kissing MA and is highly miffed and really likes Lupe's new "luke". Beto it seems has gone back home.
MA has gone to see the Director of the school Emi goes to and thanks her for allowing him to test market the juice. He sees Emi by himself and goes to talk to him. Emi is toting the Ahole Agenda. He tells MA that Granny is mad at Ahole because of MA. Grammy fired Daddy! MA says to respect Granny's decision. He asks Emi if he'd like to go with him to see a polo practise. Sure Emi would.
Frida is meeting the Adoption Lady at the Agency and the Lady gives Frida some paperwork and Frida will be meeting the couples that want to adopt her "friend's " bebe. Frida is happy to do this.
Tizoc and the band and it's the same now even with that girl from before. They want to be like a heavy metal band, but Tizoc nixes that. Wants to get back to the great music they did before and wants to do a video. Perla would like to be in it and Tizoc smiles. Tomas thinks it's a great idea. Afterward, Perla is going to serve Tomas, but he asks her to sit. She wants to enter or has entered the Queen of Nopalera contest. He looks sad and asks for the cheap eats menu.
MA and Lupe hug and he tells her he wants Emi to go to a polo practice with him. Lupe thinks it's a great idea. MA is hoping little by little he can earn Emi's trust again. Lupe is worried about the custody of Emi. She is afraid that Ahole will get custody of Emi.
Frida tells Mati about meeting the couples that want to adopt manana. She says some of them are from Switzerland and Canada. Mati wants her to think.
Lupe is dropping Emi at school and she tells him she gave permission for MA to take Emi from school to the polo practise. Emi is miffed because she never allows his Papa to take him off alone.
Oh, noes!!!! Mini is holding a board meeting, and the peeps here are way younger than the Zombies that used to be on the board. Mini is holding this in Isela's interest. The gist of this meeting is a VIP exclusive magazine for the elite. Mati wants an explanation. Mini says there will be better photos in this one. MA doesn't like this and says El Editorial functions well on it's own. Mini informs him that the board is not a democracy and as the major shareholder, the decision has been made, live with it. We'll get back to them in a tic.
Emi calls Ahole from school and tells him about his coming trip with MA to see some polo practise.
MA tells Mini that this will cost a fortune. Mini yawns and tells the board this will be a grand thing and not mediocre and not for LOSERS as she does the loser sign on her forehead. MA tells her no, but she says oooppps.
The secretary and Emi's teacher are talking and the secretary says that a Senor RP is there for Emi. The teacher tells her Lupe gave permission and let him go with Senor RP. The secretary didn't get this Senor RP's first name and off Emi goes.
AS, Chabella and Beba are at the Cloob and AS is showing off those "charatible" pics of her in the El Editorial. She is working hard to be the President of the Foundation, when there is the sound of a helicopter arriving. Guess who it is? Isela that's who. She's come to make a donation, and it's the Helicopter. That is her donation to the Foundation. So whose donation beat out whose? Well Beba and Chabella are meeting with the other Ladies and they will decide. Meantime Isela and AS stare daggers at each other.
Ahole has taken Emi off to an amusement park. Ahole tells him about a better park in the U.S. that is twice as big. Emi asks Ahole if he called Lupe? He'll call. Emi brings up that trip he was supposed to go on with MA the polo practise. Ahole tells Emi that MA is doing this on purpose to make Ahole look bad.
MA has arrived at the school to pick up Emi and finds out he left with Ahole. MA gives the secretary a hard time for letting Emi go off with Ahole. MA calls Ahole but gets Saul, he misdialed. Saul begs him to never confuse him with Ahole, MA tells him what happened.
MA goes to Ahole's house, but the maid won't let him in. MA begs her to tell him where Ahole went. She doesn't know.
Lupe is counting money at the Fonda and Carm is with her. Lupe is setting money aside so that she can repay Salomon and Nepo. She doesn't want to owe Ahole anymore. She calls MA and asks how he is doing with Emi. MA says he'll call her back.
Frida is meeting with the couples that want to adopt. The first couple is nice, he has something to do with thermonuclear something, the wife is a painter and sculptor whose work has been shown in New York. Frida is kinda happy with them, until they show her a pic of all the other children they have adopted from all over the world. Doesn't that take a bunch of money to maintain this large family. Oh sure, one of the oldest works in the Russian Circus. Next! The next couple is older, the next one are Goths, the next ones are farmers I think, and the last look like a nice young couple. Frida kind of likes them.
Ahole and Emi at the park. He tells Emi to get what he wants and calls Lupe. He tells her that Emi is with him and puts Emi on the phone, Lupe is very unhappy.
Mini is in the office when Isela comes. She tells Mini all about that donation of the helicopter to the Foundation. Mini is pithed and thinks the money that Don Lauro left Isela is probably all gone. Isela is pithed herself and says the money is hers all hers, bwahhhaaaa, and not Mini's.
Lupe wants to know what Ahole is doing with Emi. Cause Lupe wants a divorce and she is keeping Emi from him. He tells her no divorce, she is staying with Ahole for Emi.
Lupe calls MA and he is coming into the Fonda with Mati right behind. MA aplogizes to Lupe for not calling her right away and asks for forgivness and Mati tells her to forgive MA. Mati tells Lupe to dial Ahole's number and give her the phone. Lupe does and as soon as Ahole picks up he starts his crap but it's Mati on the other end and tells him so. Mati tells Ahole to come right now with Emi to El Editorial to her office and they will be making a deal. He agrees and tells Emi they have to go to the office. Emi says well Granny is mad at you right? Maybe she changed her mind and off they go.
Emi and Ahole arrive at Mati's office. Mati has Emi go and gives Ahole a much needed crack right in the face! MA comes to the office. Ahole is pithed cause he always needs permission to see his own son. Mati tells him it's his own bad influence on Emi and she warns Ahole that he will stop messing with the Menchaca, he'll never get another thing over on them, and it will be over her dead body if he does. MA goes into Mati's office and she's a bit dizzy. MA wants to take her to the Dr. but she says she'll get checked out tomorrow. Mati tells Ahole, he will be present at high noon in Saul's office to sign the divorce papers, Ahole is pithed. Mati and MA go and Ahole is royally pithed and tells Mati's retreating back, whatever you say!
Isela and Mini see that Ahole is at El Editorial and wonder if he is back now and Isela wants Mini to find out if he is. Mini has had enough and tells Isela she isn't doing it and Isela can find out for herself. Mini says she'll be waiting in the car.
Lupe is giving Emi all kinds of heck about going off with Ahole, and MA shakes his head at her. They go back to the Fonda, where Emi runs off to his room.
Mati comes to the Fonda and is warmly greeted by the Menchaca. She goes a bit off topic and tells them she'd like her wake there when she goes off into the wild blue yonder. The Menchanca and MA don't want her talking that way. Mati says she has always felt a part of their family the best in the world. I think she would also like her ashes there on the mantel, maybe?
Oh, my ears, my ears. Ahole has called Dinora. You remember that horrible nurse that drugged Mati, well Ahole has another job for her. She can't she says, she can't work as a nurse anymore thanks to him. Well if she does this favor she is off the hook with him and he'll pay her really well. He tells her to think about this well because it is no risk to her. Unbeknownest to Ahole, Isela has been listening at the door and has heard everything! What will she do with the info?

Yes, Alejo fired Beto.
I liked: Frida calling AS's charity photo op a "mega showazo"; Tomás telling Perla he wanted to establish his business and start a family; poor Saúl putting the moves on Rita; doña Mati telling Frida she would be accompanying her to wherever she was thinking of traveling to to have her baby; Leo looking like he actually enjoyed the fight; the whole Xochimilco Nuestra Señora de Dolores experience with everyone's prayers; Tomás finding out he was related to the official so they could bail out don Chuy.

So, now Nepo is playing a different tune since Diego might leave for the U.S? Now he is "worried" that someone might pick on him for being "you know". Sure. It was wonderful seeing Diego tell him that he was not a victim and could take care of himself. I am so sick of Nepo crying.
Looks like Frida is thinking of going to either Switzerland or Canada to have the baby and doña Mati is ready to hit the road with her. It was so funny seeing Frida interviewing all of the prospective parents for her baby. What a group!
Of course, it was not good hearing that doña Mati was not feeling well. I also did not like her telling the Menchacas that she felt so much at home at their place she wanted to be waked there when she died. She did have enough energy though to give that wonderful slap and threat to Alejo. Guess, we know where this plot is headed.
Poor Minerva is always being reminded by Isela that she is a salaried worker and that the inheritance belongs to Isela and not Minerva. Looks likecMinerva is stuck working (ruining the business). At the present time.
I cannot even get intp the Alejo-Emiliano-Dinora thing . Too depressing!
But, what will Isela do with what Alejo said about wanting to kill doña Mati?
I cannot believe we have just about a week and pico left in La Nopalera.

According to a brief scene in a past episode Miguel Angel mentioned that Isale was the second largest stockholder, next to the Ruizpalacios, so I don't get how Isale has appointed herself dictator of the business.
Since we are a week away from The End, here is speculation as to what I would like happen to the characters:
Mati - I want her to see her great grand children. She is the center of everything and the matriarch of both the Menchacas and the Ruizpalacios. I hope she puts Ana Chofis in her place and finally presses charges against Alejo.
Miguel Angel
Lupita - I am grouping these two together. I hope they finally have their peace and can ride off into the sunset together. And being the two leads and not having any possible alternate endings I guess it is safe to say that we will not be disappointed.
Mr Chuy - He is a nice guy and deserves the best. He already got the house, thanks to Super Grandma Mati. But he needs to get a clue that there is someone who wants to love him and make her life by his side. He has not let go of his deceased wife and it is time to look for a new adventure.
Ana Chofis - She deserves to lose it all forever. Perhaps only then will she get a clue that her attitude is poison. Something or some one needs to knock her off her high horse and smell the real world. We've seen that talks have not helped, nether has a near death experience.
Carmelita - She needs to smack Mister Chuy on the head. Perhaps this will be the only way that he will get a clue. SHe has been patient, very patient! If he does not react she needs to move on. I really want to see her happy in love.
Alejo - Aaargh! What to say. He deserves to be put in jail for 100 lifetimes. What he has done is unforgivable. He thinks he is invincible and all powerful. He needs to become someone's punchbag. He needs to be stripped of every peso he has. Maybe the prison has have him do forced labor cleaning windshields of passing cars.
Vilma - She should also go to jail. In fact at this point she already is, so her story can end this way. The only thing more I would want for her is to finally see what a traitor Alejo is and testify against him. I don;t see any redeeming feature in her. At one time I hoped that she would get together with Saul, but changed my mind when she helped Alejo dispose of his Grandma.
Minerva & Isela - Since these two are always together I just grouped them. These two need to lose it all and end up working at some menial job. Isela has no sense. It seems that ever since we met her her only passion is shopping for trinkets. Minerva is such an airhead that she'd float away if it wasn't for those 5 inch heels. No ethics, no morals, "no nothing".

Conclusion...
Tizoc - He needs to be banged on the head with a keyboard! He is so moronic at this time. It does not even seem that he learned his lesson with that lawsuit that he had. He should have been made to suffer some and not be so easily rescued my Miguel Angel. I hope he finds his success in the music industry, but will always be a failure as a human being unless he drastically changes his ways and attitude.
Perla Ivette - She really really needs a make over and not the physical kind. I would like her to pursue her modelling career, but going about it the right way. She needs to go back to school and learn how to talk. She needs to grow up and be more prudent. She need to find her center to fierce grasp on to it. She needs to find true love with some one that will respect her as a human being, woman and professional.
Leonardo - Get a clue please. We've seen that he is capable of noble actions, but seems to be overpowered by the "pretty boy dark side" (niño fresa). He needs to come down from his imaginary kingdom and walk i the real world. Pursuing his art is not a problem, but do it without thinking that he is some deity and everyone else is an insect. "Something great happened: A. They added zeroes, lots of zeroes to our accounts and B. They added zeroes, lots of zeroes to our accounts". Mister Chuy brushed him off.
Diego - Stop whining and looking like a deer blinded by headlights! And stop blindly obeying your Dad like you were a 10 year-old. I would like to see him stand on his own two feet.
Nepo – This is an interesting character because although he is not a villain or evil, he does represent closed mindedness and ignorance He should be involved in some incident that really hits home where he has decide whether to continue his present road towards isolation or chose a better road that will reunite him with his son and solidify his relationship with Guendy.
Diego and Leonardo. As a couple I am not sure what I would want for them. This is novelaland and ideally they should be able to walk into the sunset, their love being accepted by all. But the truth is that in real life this will not happen so easily. Many people are more like Nepo. This couple will get leered at, stared at, gawked at, innuendos will abound. In general people will not be nice about it. Still the novella should end with them at least being at peace with each other and taking their relationship to wherever they want.
Frida - Not really sure about Fri. She has a kind heart, but is kind of airy, sometimes just not getting it. As her friend at school that gets bully told her "you are all show". I would like her to finally get it. I wish I could say that she could live happily ever after with Tizoc, but this guy is just not ready for anything serious in life and once again proved it yesterday when he preferred to go play for money with strangers than listen to her when she had something important to say.
Emiliano - To finally find out what a jerk (to put it kindly) Alejo is and return to Lupita's side. I've alway thought that Emiliano was far too sheltered. He may not be 15 or 16, but he is not a 3 to 7 year old child either. Again in yesterday's episode (Aug 13) they rushed him off once they saw that the coppers were waiting for Mister Chuy.
Saul - I hope he finds true love. If anyone has seen the animated movie The Secret of NIMH, he reminds me of Jeremy the crow.

I didn't like her not feeling well. I think the stress Ahole is bringing is hurting her health. Ahole's anvil is way over due. My favorite part on Wednesday's epi was Rita using her moves to make that guy shut it. It was very funny and Don Chuy too.

Mads, I too love Tomas and Saul when they team up. maybe they will become the lawyers of the corporate (those two sleezy guys should just go away) and as a side, they can do trial lawyer stuff, Tomas is real good at the investigation part and Saul can distract people with his bobble-head movements in court.

Lord but Wednesday's episode dragged but it did pick up a little last night. Not happy about those advances, however.

Thanks Madelaine, if we had to skip a recap, at least it was for an episode that didn't have much action.
The previews were very telling, and I can't wait until tonight's show. Alejo told the nurse that if she does it, she will be paid enough to leave the country, but she still told him that she could get him what he needs to do the job, but that she wasn't going to do it. We'll have to see.
I would love Isela going through all her money in order to be the president, and then have nothing after that. Maybe she will try to bribe Alejo with what she overheard him say on the phone.

You are so right about what Mati said to Frida. The way Frida was looking at these couples, she really wasn't all that happy with them. I wish she would tell Tizoc about the bebe, cause it's way past time already! I agree that the Menchanca would love that baby
I bet that first couple Frida talked to were fake... like they tell her they are all this and all that and have volunteered here and there and they turn out to be money-hungry child exploiters who take the money they get for 'adopting' and then treat the children like crap... i bet all the degrees he said he had(neurologist turned into who knows what) were all faked.
And her wanting to do this and that... even more fake... Frida should get away from them... good thing the picture with all the kids scared her more than convinced her. The young couple in the end were very reasonably normal.

I think that little brawl those creeps got into with Diego and Leo was the thing that Decie Girl mentioned the other day and I said I slow-framed through it hoping to get a clue. It looked much more serious in the avances! The talk with Nepo was interesting, with him claiming that his major objection to Diego being gay was that he'd get hurt. Oh yeah? He was using that kind of graphic, hateful language out of concern for Diego's safety? Give me a break.
And speaking of brawls, I laughed when Rita called that road rage guy a "mensogynist," but she really overreacted. That guy was getting the brunt of all of her frustration left over from dealing with Nepo!
But I do like Rita, and I wish they'd brought her into the story sooner. It seems she's held every type of job imaginable, so that could have been a neat long-running joke with her skills becoming more and more spectacular... but I digress.
For AS, I wonder if the main attraction for being president of the charitable foundation is so that she can embezzle funds. Likewise for Isela. They've both poured vast quantities of cash into the foundation to impress their "friends," and they'd probably like to start siphoning it out.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Beba and Chabelita have been doing something like that all along; in the beginning, they kept the dresses that AS donated to charity, so who knows how much of the foundation's money ever finds its way into the hands of anyone who needs it. (I think one of their causes was something like "Unemployed Mexicans Overseas," which sounds suspiciously like the foundation ladies' lazy kids boozing around in Europe.)

Thanks so much for the added bits I missed. Rita was funny though I have to say. I too wish they had brought her on sooner. I agree that AS and Isela would embezzle funds and remember when AS first lost her money and donated those clothes to the charity, how Chabella and Beba were picking through her dresses and things and taking all the good stuff before it got to the charity shop? I bet they also have been embezzling funds all along.
