TELEMUNDO Y MÁS -- Reina de Corazones: week of August 18, 2014 - PAGE ONE

Okaaaaay! Welcome to a new week of discussions about our favorite "novela loca." Last week had fantastic recaps and comments ranging from the law of spousal privilege to who would call their boss, "El Supremo," plus there was our weekly compilation of the Wisdom of the Dragon by Anita and an updated mystery list from Vivi. Speaking of compilations,  here
is a link to last week's compiled recaps on Dropbox. (for some reason the text does not start right under the title. You have to scroll down to the next page.)

Sadly, though, we will only get four days worth of our fix since Thursday's capitulo is pre-empted by the Premios tu Mundo presentation. Bwahahahaha!  If the volume of comments merit a second page, I will post it later in the week.

Can't wait....

Thanks Jean!

I'm so excited for a new week of Reina. Let the fun begin!

Thanks, Jean!!

I am wiped out and thought about taking a nap under my desk today, but I'm having a little cup of coffee because I do NOT want to miss Reina!!! (but I can stop anytime.)

Sara- this is the first full week of school for you, isn't it?

Last week was. Teachers went back the 4th. Kids came back the 11th. This is week two. It always seems to hit me on week 2.

YouTube warning- because I had searched YouTube in my iPad for full episodes of Reina, they thought they (YouTube) where do me a favor by posting some links on their opening page. Unfortunately, these are episodes that have already aired in Mexico and were, in effect, spoilers, just from the screen cap And the episode name. Argggghhhh!,,,,

The very careful when going to YouTube.com

Oh no, Doris!!!!!!!!!! That's terrible. I hate spoilers so much.

I hate them, too, especially when it is a Telenovela that I enjoy so much.

Thanks for setting up the room for the I CAN STOP ANY TIME I WANT group, Jean.

(7 comments and nothing has even happened yet!)

"7 comments and nothing has even happened yet!"

We're tailgating :)

We're tailgating! I like that Sara. It's better than obsessing.

I come home from work. It's 5:30. I'd better do something to pass the time. I look at the clock again. It's 6:45. Check the comments on the blog. Damn, times moves slowly here. Do more things - 7:15. Check comments again. Arrgh! I try to watch my recording of Fina Estampa, the daytime Brazilian novela; I can't concentrate. Check comments. It's 7:51. Not too long now except that I never start watching at 8. I don't want to sit through the commercials. Maybe I'll make something for dinner. 7:54. Write a comment...

There certainly were a LOT more commercials tonight. FFWD---->

Lunes Part 1

Reina doesn’t think its necessary to have a bodyguard, especially Navier. Victor thinks it IS necessary-he was willing to give up his life for hers. Bolivar was very happy to accept. After all Navier did for her, she is in no position to reject him. In fact, neither he nor Bolivar should hear a “no” from her gorgeous mouth.

Estfy tells Smith if she was really a killer, then both Victor and Octavio would be dead. That pair stole her daughter-she couldn’t watch her grow, take care of her when she was sick-they stole that from her. She loves Navier with all her heart but killing Reina won’t keep him by her side.

Reina pleads with Victor not to give her a bodyguard. “I’ll stay home and won’t put myself in any danger” She is going to have to go back to work one day. She needs a bodyguard, night and day! She is stunned. Navier has a slight smirk on his face.

Reina and Victor head into the bedroom. She can’t believe that he wants Navier around her after her confession. “ So you want the man I love to be around me all the time...to protect me and grant my whims?” “Yes because I want the only man you love to be me. I want him close so I can win the battle!” “I’m not a toy or prize,” Reina exclaims. “For me it’s very important that I be the only man you love, the only man you want in your bed! I don’t forgive betrayal. And if you or him betray me, you will be responsible for the end of Navier Bolivar!”

Navier tells Izzy that he wants to coordinate tareas (for me this means homework. What’s this meaning here-tasks maybe? ) I don’t coordinate, Izzy says. I am the head of security, I give the orders. Fine, than he will take care of Reina and not interfere with his tasks. Izzy reiterates how he doesn’t like him and that he doesn’t have a good feeling about Navier. He is going to be watching him and on the day he messes up, he will make Navier pay! Is that a threat? No threats. “I just make good on what I say!”

Victor then comes downstairs and tells Navier that Reina changed her mind. Go upstairs and talk to her. After he leaves, Izzy asks Victor if he is sure of what he is doing. Yes, very sure!

Navier enters Reina’s bedroom and proceeds to use a machine to check for listening devices. It’s all clear so they can speak freely. Reina wonders what Victor is up to. Navier tells her it’s a test. Why is Navier doing this? Because he wants to spend all his time with her. He then says some nice, poetic, love stuff to Reina (similar to what Laz said to Greta the other day? Did they learn this love talk in prison? ) If Victor wants to play, Navier says, then he will play!

Susanna doesn’t want Greta to marry the Putz. Juancho reminds her that Putz knows her secret and she can’t do anything because of it. But Juancho can!! He’s going to follow him.

Laz is heartbroken and want to know why Greta is doing this. The thought of someone else giving her affection is driving him crazy. Stop it, Greta yells. Enough with all these lies!!

Victor tells Izzy to watch Reina and Bolivar. He will not leave them alone for a minute. No, Victor wants them alone. He wants them to think they have everything but they can’t do anything. (huh?)
Estfy than shows up at Victor’s house She knows why Victor left her and why he took her daughter. She knows everything.

Smith and Rocky discuss Smith’s conversation with Estfy. She reads a note from El Supremo. He/She has sent her chocolates and wants to now who was behind Marino. She then looks at her computer and sees in big letters: WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF EVERYONE KNEW THAT YOU AND OCTAVIO HAD A SON?

Octavio enters Reina’s room, looking around suspiciously. He approaches a door and Navier comes from behind and points a gun to the back of his head. “Don’t move or I’ll shoot!” Octavio raises his hand. Who are you? I’m Reina’s bodyguard. Oh you don’t know who I am?

Lunes Part 2

At this point, Navier has the gun pointed to the front of his forehead. Yes I know exactly who you are…My Papi!!!...err I mean Octavio De Rosas! Reina’s father-in-law. It’s not a good idea to go in her bathroom while she is taking a bath. It’s very rude!

Octavio threatens to fire him. Navier goes all caveman and says he is protecting (defending) what’s mine! Interesting what’s yours? Yes anyone that I am assigned to protect is mine! Reina in her bathrobe emerges from the bathroom with a shocked look on her face.

Smith is freaking out at her computer, wondering who knows her secret. She pushes a couple of buttons and the message disappears. She looks stunned.

Pretty robe, Octavio tells Reina. That is what I was going to tell you when your guard dog interrupted me. Octavio leaves. What happened, Reina asks. Your father in law wanted to go in and “see” you. He repulses her, physically repulses her. Then Reina, who is very embarrassed, tells Navier that according to Octavio they were lovers.

Estfy and Victor are in his office. Octavio told me that he made you think we had an affair. I was faithful to you because I loved you. Victor admits that Octavio said he was Greta’s father but Victor had a DNA test that proved Victor was the father. He tried to buy me but he couldn’t because I really loved you! Victor admits that his life changed when he thought they had an affair-he was a thief, a magician, an estafador, but he wasn’t the killer that he is today.

OBD is rereading the anonymous note that she received. She hears a phone ringing; it’s at her doorstep. A voice asks her, “ Are you going to finish what your mom started? Yes or no?” Yes, she says!

Victor and Estfy stillll talking about Octavio. Victor thought his father had taken everything away from him when he lied to Victor about the affair and Greta. He was going to leave Susana for her but everything changed that day. The same was true for Estfy the day she was told Greta died. She lost her soul that day. They were both soulless. She doesn’t understand how she could have survived that in addition to what she had gone though with her parents and brother. Octavio triumphed and destiny did the rest.

Greta tells Laz to be quiet. No, why is she saying that he is a liar? Because all he wanted was her money. Isn’t he a thief? Wasn’t he in prison? Yes. Yes, he is a thief!

Reina is upset. Navier doesn’t believe everything that people say (except for everything Estfy told him about Reina!) Asuncion also told Reina that she met with Octavio in Europe the week before her wedding. I’m trash, she says! He needs to stay away from her. Navier dries her tears and says he is going to figure out the truth.

Laz tells Greta that he didn’t have any worries until Miriam got pregnant. She was into drugs at the time. All he wanted was a good life for his son. He made a mistake and paid for it. Greta makes some smart remark. He doesn’t want her money. He just wanted a better life for her son. Everything he has ever done is for him. She can’t believe everything that Putz says! It wasn’t him, it was his mujer! Well she isn’t his wife-only his baby momma (finally some clarification!) And she lied! But Greta believed her too easily. Susanna arrived and Laz tells her that he resigns!

Lunes Part 3

Victor tells Estfy that they can’t go back. Does he love Reina? Yes. Does she love someone? Before she can answer, Navier and Reina come down the stairs. Reina has accepted Navier as her bodyguard. Victor introduces Navier to Estfy. Have you two met?

Smith than gets an email-the brothers are reunited! And there are 2 pictures of Navier and Victor!

Yes Navier thinks they met at the hospital. Reina remembers her from the wedding when she was her seamstress. Remember when you called me “Anteojitos!” Yes that was a term of endearment! Reina and Naiver leave.

“You are letting the man that your wife desires to be right next to her,” Estfy asks. Nothing kills love quicker than routine! (Ok Victor, great plan!) Is this the guy you wanted me to seduce? Yes but you declined. Well I have changed my mind.

We know see Smith’s email. (Sorry for the translation-it was hard to read it and I don’t think I translated the words accurately. Please feel free to help me out)
“THE BROTHERS HAVE UNITED BECAUSE THAT’S THE FIRST LAW. THEY WILL HAVE A TRUE REUNION, IN WHATEVER TIME. BECAUSE IF THEY FIGHT AMONG THEMSELVES, THE OUTSIDE WILL DEVOUR THEM. –MARTIN FIERRO (who is this Martin guy)

Rocky comes in with his usual line-Is there a problem? Nothing I can’t handle.

Reina and Navier are in the car. She is complaining to Navier that she won’t be able to resist touching him. He notices someone following them. If he was able to resist you dying, I can resist anything! Um ok?

Estfy is still trying to convince Victor to let her seduce Navier. He has a new idea!

Susana asks Greta why Laz wants to resign. Do they have a problem? No. He can be replaced. Laz says he can be replaced faster than someone can win or lose at the roulette table. Cut the to the Putz gambling and losing. But he is happy and telling everyone that he is going to be a millionaire. He also kisses some blonde. And Det Juancho is there video taping it all on his phone and not being discrete about it.

Reina and Connie reunite at the bridal store. They are excited about working together like they had always dreamed. Connie wonders why Navier is working for her. OBD arrives and apologizes for her mother’s actions. Reina doesn’t want her in her house or business. She doesn’t want to see her again. Both Connie and Navier say that OBD is lying.

Everyone is at the dinner table waiting for Reina. She arrives with Navier and Victor announces to the group that Navier will be staying there. Clarita is excited! Than Victor makes another announcement, Estfy is going to be staying there too!! WHAT?!?!?!

Octavio wonders why? Victor says something that I couldn’t understand but it had to do with Susana and Greta maybe? Octavio than makes a toast to family unity.

Laz reprimands Miriam. Why does she hate him? Why did she lie to Greta? The drugs are messing up her life. He finds the drugs in her purse. This is killing her. Does he want to leave their son motherless? She needs to escape from reality-he never loved her. He never looked at her the way he looks at Greta.

Victor and Greta are talking in her room about how good Estfy has been to her. Estfy shows up with tea and Greta becomes upset. Love is garbage, she says. She fell in love with Laz but he lied to her. She is going to marry the Putz but she is never going to love him. Laz then shows up-he is there for his last night with Greta.

Susana and Juancho confront the Putz. Uh this is like my bachelor party! He is never going to marry Greta. How much does he want to get out of Greta’s life? He mentions a car, an apt, and money. How about his life? Or does he want to suffer the same fate as the 13 from Camila’s party?

Lunes Part 4

Octavio yells to Victor that he wants Navier fired. Victor says sarcastically, “Well I don’t like you and you’re still here!“ Then they argue over Estfy. “I could have slept with her but I didn’t want to!”
Navier and Reina join the group. What did Navier do to Octavio? Have Octavio explain, Navier says. Reina spills the beans-he wanted to enter my bathroom while I was bathing. And he says we were lovers!!!!

Fabulous recap, Caroline! I had the same reaction to Victor's announcement about Estefy living in the house. My jaw just dropped.

I really enjoy the Juanjo/Susana team.

Caroline -thank you for the recap and the snark.

Juanjo was so not subtle while filming the putz.

Yes, we finally got the Laz-Miriam non marital status cleared up, and from the horse's mouth.

Per my CCs in English, Victor said Stefy's house was having repairs done, and that is why she was staying with them. (Telemundo doesn't seem to put much emphasis on neutral Spanish like Telerisa? I have a hard time understanding the rapid fire delivery)

"Octavio yells to Victor that he wants Navier fired. Victor says sarcastically, “Well I don’t like you and you’re still here!“
This was my LOL line of the night.

So the mystery e-mailer knows about Smeeeth+Octavio!
How? Who? Must see TV!

So, no Reina on Thursday night? Wah!
I'll use it to get caught up on "Outlander" , on Starz channel. I missed the first episode and watched it on Demand, and it seemed pretty good, so far.

I read the book (by Diana Gabaldon) thirteen years ago, before a trip to Scotland, for the historical content. I enjoyed the book (and Scotland!) and read several of the sequels also.

Great job, Caroline.

Well, now we have confirmation about Navier's papa, and Vic finally knows the truth about Stefi and his papa. Kind of icky that both sons and father have either been in the pants, or tried to get into the pants, of Stefi and Reina!

I was sure those chocolates were poisoned when Smith dug into them. I don't trust El Sumpremo one bit. She says she has things under control, when she clearly doesn't.

Everyone is living under the same roof in the mansion. Oh, goody! :)

" Kind of icky that both sons and father have either been in the pants, or tried to get into the pants, of Stefi and Reina!"
Good point, Vivi, and Nico/Javier is the only one who is batting 1000!

Lots of dysfunctional "family" dinners ahead for los de Rosas; a favorite telenovela rule. Bring on the antacids and let the fun begin!

True, Doris. Vic had Stefi, but can't have Reina. Oct has tried and failed with both. Navier has had both women, and both are crazy about him.

Great recap, Caroline!! I loved this episode. Victor says that Stefy is moving in temporarily because she is having serious problems with repairs to her house. [Doesn't she own a casino with hotel rooms?] Whatever. It's obviously Victor's devious plan to make it as awkward as possible for Reina and Navier. There might be some sneakin' around after lights out!

What a big happy family at dinner! Poor Greta - she just has to sit there and watch everybody else eat? Asunción might have been feeding her but she left.

Victor says that he would invite Navier to participate in the toast he making but... Navier finishes the sentence by saying "Gracias, señor pero no corresponde," "Thank you sir, but I don't belong" when WE know that he deserves a place at the table with his Dad and brother.

Navier did not get off to a good relationship with his dear old Dad. It's hard to believe that Esmeeth could have fallen for that a**hole but maybe he was more charming, thinner and less sleazy in his youth.

Caroline, I couldn't keep up with all the dialog last night. So glad you gave us the foundation for all the action.

My heart aches for Laz. I wonder what their "last" night is going to be like. I wonder if in true tn trope (I typed tripe first...for shame), Susana and JJ are going to keep their hard won (ha) information to themselves and try to get rid of the Putz or will they actually tell Greta.

The only person around the family dinner table who was ecstatic that Navier would be moving in was Clarita and she's the only one who can't participate in the toast.

Vivi--This novela should be called The Sex Lives of the Rich, Famous and Not So Rich or Famous.

Martin Fierro--If anyone wants to dig into this, there is more than you want to know on Wikipedia. It is an epic Argentine poem by Jose Hernandez, written in the 1870s about a gaucho character named Martin Fierro. It's complicated. Little known here, it was very popular in SA and other Spanish-speaking countries. Maybe in another 500 years it'll be taught in the U.S. along side Homer's Iliad and the Odyssey.

Thanks for the Martin Fierro reference, Anita.I thought the name was familiar but I didn't look it up.

Hmm, literary references now. The writers are getting fancy on us.

Great job, Caroline! Thanks!

And thank you, Anita, for telling us about "Martin Fierro."

What struck me most about this episode was the revelation of the BEFORE and AFTER for both Estefi and Victor:

BEFORE O convinced Victor that Estefi was cheating on him and that Greta was O's and not Victor's, Victor was a different man: an illusionist, a magician, a con artist, yes, but not a murderer.

BEFORE Estefi's heart was broken by her daughter's "death" and by Victor's abandonment, she was also a different person.

It was big O who made Estefi and Victor into the rotten, unscrupulous pair they are today.

There's no obvious BEFORE and AFTER for big O. As far as we can tell, he was always rotten. He may have fallen for "Sarita" (and incidentally fathered the Dragon), but he didn't hesitate to order her killing when he found out she was an undercover agent.

As I was watching last night, it occurred to me for the first time that Reina may not ever remember those eight years; however, she may come to reconstruct them -- with the help of the Dragon -- the way great historians create the past. So she may have access to her own life as if it were a story about someone else --- but with this difference: her visceral reactions to everyone seems intact; she is drawn to and repulsed by the same people as before even though she doesn't know their story together.

[Of course it may have something to do with the fact that these people are either extremely attractive or extremely repulsive. snort. ]

I too was interested in the scene between Stefi and Victor, Novela Maven, and you capitured it so nicely. Although bad in some ways, Stefi ranks above Victor in niceness - she hasn't killed anybody and when she found out about O's perfidy, she went and told Victor about it [extraordinay behavior on a novela] instead of seeking revenge, etc.

For all her protestations of love for Navier, it's obvious that Stefi is still in love with Victor but as he says, there are no "backsies."

I was happy that the writers confirmed what we had suspected-- that Victor long ago DNA tested Greta and learned she was his and not O's. Still didn't stop him from STILL believing Stefi betrayed him with O.

So, when Navier finally learns Clara is his, will he STILL think Reina betrayed him with Victor?

Interesting idea that Reina may never recover her lost 8 years. That would certainly make this novela unique in my experience.

Except for whatever she found out about Victor and O, which Dragon can help her figure out, there is no real need for her to remember: she fell in love with Navier again; she seems to love her daughter as much as before, and, as you say, her physical reactions to good and evil people are correct. She isn't being deceived by the bad people.

thanks so much Caroline!
terrific recap.

loved Reina's double-take on Navier's bug finding toy, her eyes are ALWAYS desperately searching for some answers. (loving Paola Núñez)

Hotel Victor is really packing them in, talk about keeping your enemies close, (didn't O say he owned half of the house).

(and doesn't Juan Soler do a wonderful job while Catherine Siachoque is busy stealing the scene).

poor Delfina, (not), looks like she has been exiled to her old house, alone, out of the lap of luxury, didn't Navier read her presence at the shop as, she's up to something, and lets Reina know to be careful.

now to find a way to get the Putz out of the house.

yes, formal dinners must be tough for Greta, was Susana actually welcoming Estefia to the house?

Miriam is doing a good job as any man's nightmare.

When Navier finds out that Clarita is his child, he could still believe that Reina had betrayed him - an even worse betrayal because he could think that Reina cared so little about NN and the fact that she was carrying his child that she pretended that the child was Victor's or let Victor tell everyone that that her child was his.

It wouldn't necessarily lead Navier to question what Stefi told him because even though she knows the truth, Victor acknowledged Clarita as his so Stefi could claim that she didn't know.

I have a lot of trouble figuring out what Victor is saying. I think Juan Soler is trying to mask his natural accent (and talks low in some scenes) and by doing so he runs his letters togrther. Almost sounds Cuban to me like when William Levy is talking. And I'm Cuban! So I can usually understand.

So was that a quote by Martin Fierro from one of his books?

hmm, so Reina and Navier, don't know Clara is their child,

but Victor, Esmeeth, Rocky definitely do, and most likely Asunción, and Estefi,

and wouldn't everyone around Reina during the missing 8 years also know since Reina did,

so the only people that wouldn't know about Clarita are those people that were isolated from Reina during those years.

(loving that Victor has a horseshoe on his desk)

Deb- I think a lot of people, like Susana, think that Reina was having an affair with Victor before he divorced Susana, and Clara is his. What we have seen in the brief flashbacks, is that despite her mild and meek appearance in the early days, people still thought the worst of her, and assumed Reina's relationship with Victor (him housing her, caring for her, and giving her a job) was a sexual one. I don't think that many people believe that they have been living together all these years and nothing has happened between them.

Asuncion might know because she's observant, is Reina's mom, and was her friend in the house. Izzy knows because he knows Vic's business. Stefi knows some, because she's partially responsible for the stuff that happened to Reina early on, likely knows the baby was Navier's, and was probably mixed up in stuff these last 8 years. But even she might be shocked that the great Victor de Rosas has never bedded Reina in all these years. No, I think it's safe to assume that only a few people (and the secret agency, minus Navier) know that Clara is not Victor's child.

OBD knows, as did Carmen (descanse en paz???). Those around Reina during the 8 years might know if Reina told them but when she went to live with Victor, the agreement was that he would raise her child as his so Reina probably wouldn't be blabbing about it.

Caroline--Martin Fierro is the gaucho character. He meets up in the 2d book with his two estranged sons. That's probably why this particular quote was so fitting. The author is Jose Hernandez.

Deb--
Yes, Octavio said the house is half his. In that convo, Victor says he offered to buy him out, but O. said something I didn't catch last night, but it had everything to do with his perverseness to irritate and annoy Victor.

Yeah, Carmen and OBD would know. They actually knew Reina was pregnant before Reina knew! :)

Deb--
Also, to continue in Vivi and Jean's vein, as of this moment in 2014, Reina does NOT know that Clarita is NNs child.

No one in the household has suggested anything different to her because, well...
1. OBD hates Reina (and Carmen is gone).
2. Asuncion is afraid to open that hornet's nest since she doesn't want to lose her job. She has been consistently vague about the danger Victor poses.
3. Izzy has his own self interests.
4. Greta was probably too young to figure it out.
5. Octavio probably knows more than he's letting on and is enjoying playing Victor like a harp.

We all remember that when Reina accepted Victor's very generous offer to work at Camilee's, she was already pregnant, but NOT showing. She told him she was pregnant and he responded that it didn't matter to him.

He tried hard to woo her. Nothing worked. I'm pretty sure the other employees wondered why he was paying so much attention to the costurera but probably accepted it at face value when Victor stayed by her side through the neonatal crisis of Clara's, then moving into the Mansion, without benefit of marriage. It was somewhere in there that Victor offered marriage and a legitimacy for Clara. At that point, how could Reina refuse such a generous offer--and she did feel guilty about Victor assuming the hospital bills (although she did offer to pay them off with her salary). NN was dead and Clara deserved better than what she could give her. She stopped short at the marriage part and kept him at bay for 8 years. No?

Anita- Yes. Greta, like Susana, assume that Reina swooped in on Victor, got pregnant, and stole him. Susana got the boot and a divorce, and Greta got sent to boarding school. Neither of them has any reason to believe that Clarita isn't Victor's daughter.

Now, about Camila...

Of course, all that past history was forgotten with the amnesia.

I like NovelaMaven's theory. It is certainly NOT a Crackpot Theorists™ theory.

A little internet searching and presto: the verse that Esmeeth gets in her email is from Capitulo 32 of La Vuelta del Martín Fierro, the sequel to the first poem and the whole couplet reads:

Los hermanos sean unidos
Porque ésa es la ley primera
Tengan unión verdadera
En cualquier tiempo que sea,
Porque, si entre ellos pelean,
Los devoran los de ajuera.

"ajuera" appears to be an archaic spelling of "afuera," which is what was in Esmeeth's version.

My literal translation:

Let the brothers be united
because this is the first law
Let them have a true union
In whatever time remains
Because if they fight between themselves
Those from the outside will devour them

So can we assume that at some point Vic and Navier will have to team up to fight cursed diamonds or something like that?

Deb--
That's the "Magic Horseshoe" that Old Leonard Nimoy gave Victor for help in securing the Red Diamond he covets.

Jean--You are so kind to look this up. I have a copy of Martin Fierro in Spanish, but have never read it.

Jean,

Thank you for finding, quoting, and translating the verse.

Is this a classy joint or what?

P.S. Fans of elna june (that is to say, everyone on CarayCaray) will have to wait until next week for her to join us. I'll be recapping tonight.

Ooo NM--To what do we owe the honor of an Elna June creation? Please don't say you are bowing out---we need your Elfinhood. What would we do without your icon or your wit and wisdom. Hope it means you two are going to be alternating. Eeeegads, two brilliant recappers for the price of one.

I just remembered the observation camera in the crypt where Reina was. Apparently, Navier's detecto-meter wasn't working. Someone watched and probably kept the tender rescue scene between Reina and Navier....and will try to use it against them.

I'm pretty convinced now Poor Carmen is Dead. Whoever killed her did the whole set up, or *he* (to simplify not having to say he/she all the time) wouldn't have known she was there. He's probably the disguised voice we heard egging OBD on.

....and, no spoiler, but conjecture only, I wouldn't be surpised if it turns out to be Octavio. Rocky told Esmeeth that O was in the area before the Reina-Navier poisoning sequence. He's macabre enough to have thought it up and been able to carry it out.

I CAN QUIT ANY TIME, I CAN QUIT ANY TIME.

Anita,

Yes, elna june and I will be alternating Tuesdays, though not necessarily on a predictable schedule. I can promise you that one or the other of us will make sure Tuesday gets covered.

We're trying to keep the recaps low-key, so please don't expect any Cecil B. DeMille productions. I'm immensely flattered by your enthusiasm for our writing.

My alter-ego in the photo, by the way, is a gnome from the Milwaukee Horticultural Domes.

If Reina knows a secret that is damaging to Octavio, he probably did the crypt thing. Someone with a lot of money had to, what with the fake TV news, fake newspapers, etc., in there. And they paid Carmen a lot of money.

While Reina may never regain eight years of memory, she and Nicolas need to know how they got separated and that Clarita is his daughter.

The only people who know the entire truth/story about Reina --- that she did NOT have NN framed, shot, and sent to jail --- are Victor and Stefy.
Nicolas was a name, not a face, to Victor. Really only Stefy knows the whole truth, and she's keeping mum because she wants Nico for herself. But, that knowledge makes her a key player in the story.

Nicolas still believes Reina had him framed, shot, sent to jail. the basis and fuel for his 'venganza.' This is a big hurdle for their love to overcome. Nico is going to have to find out the whole truth, even if it is during Ultimas Capítulos.

Anita,

I think NovelaMaven announced some time back that she and elna june would alternate doing the Tuesday recaps.

Caroline, thanks for a great recap. I laughed out loud at "Yes I know exactly who you are…My Papi!!!...err I mean Octavio De Rosas!" I also chuckled over "(similar to what Laz said to Greta the other day? Did they learn this love talk in prison? )."

Vivi, I too feared that the chocolates were poisoned. I was astonished that Esmeeth ate one without first sending it out for analysis or using an indicator that detects poison (the sister app to Navier's voice and video bug detector).

Doris, loved your ""Bring on the antacids and let the fun begin!"

Jean, thanks for translating "pero no corresponde." That's a verb I'm always uncertain about how to translate or use (so I never use it).

Juanita: Corresponder is not easily translated into English. In my experience it's usually used in novelas when someone doesn't return affection, Yo amo a Juan pero el no corresponde. I love Juan but he doesn't love me or doesn't reciprocate my affection.
I toyed with the idea of translating Navier's use of it as,
"It's not my place [to take a toast with you.] but that seemed a little too Downton Abbey servile.

I love it when Navier is in his humble servant mode.

NM-I have been Gnomified and will not make that mistake again.

Anita,

"NM-I have been Gnomified"

Oh dear. Is there anything we can do to help?

Jean,

About Estefi and Victor:

Even though Estefi isn't much of a hands-on killer, she was happy enough to sacrifice the Fake Queen of Diamonds, the Buyer's Brother and several other unpleasant characters. I think if she had her own Injecto-Death 3000, she wouldn't have to think to hard about its moral implications.

And while Victor may be saying "No backsies," his scenes with Estefi say something else. These two just Snap, Crackle and Pop all over the screen. Every word of dialogue seems like a double-entendre, every gesture, no matter how menacing, seems sexually tinged. If ever there were soul-less mates, it's these two.

I also love Navier in his "humble servant mode." Eugenio Siller is turning out to have a lot more range than I gave him credit for; in particular, he is a much wittier actor than I realized.

Novela Maven-

I agree about the hot-ness of the scenes between Victor and Stefi whatever Victor says.

I still think that the writer are make somewhat of a qualitative difference between Stefi's evilness and Victor's. She sent people to their deaths but didn't do it personally and then in both cases, we found out the people "deserved" to die because of evil conduct. That's not a legal defense but it seems to set her apart from Victor who seems to be willing to kill anyone for any reason.

I have never seen Eugenio Siller before so I have nothing to judge his performance against but I really think he's cute - it's the hair - and very good in this role. As was said so well here before, he and Paola Núñez are perfect as the couple who don't realize they are in a novela.

Awesome job again on the recap Caroline! Also cracked up on the "mi papi" line.

Yep, the situation between the 4 main characters has definitely gotten complicated, especially with them living under one roof. It's like some weird kinky foursome swingers thing they have going on. Fun to see how it all plays out though!

It's kind of interesting how Reina doesn't really keep any secrets, except for her relationship with Javier. She's already told Victor that she's in love with someone else. & now she's telling him his father said she & him were lovers. Even though she believes it, she doesn't go the regular tn route & keep it as a shameful secret, but actually tells Victor & Javier.

NovelaMaven, This is the first tn I have seen E.Siller in & also like to watch his "human servent mode". It just makes me crack up when he does, because even though he's acting humble he still kind of has some smugness going on. Makes me laugh every time!

jlk

Yeah it does seem like they want to make a difference between Stefi & Victor. Too bad I still see them as equally evil.

& Jean also thanks for the poem translation! Wouldn't that be fun to watch Victor & Navier having to work together. I'm imagining some life or death situation in which they have to escape.

jlk

jlk,

To give credit where credit is due, it was Jean who made the witty observation about Siller in his "humble servant mode." I was just agreeing with her.

I really think you've put your finger on it though -- Navier manages to be HUMBLE and SMUG at the same time. He isn't smirking (I hate smirking!). He is just sort of SMUMBLE (or HUMBUG? Wait, that's something else...)

So it seems like Navier only has a couple of modes

-Humble Servant Mode (tks jean!)
-Dragon Mode
-Lover Mode

any else?

What he really needs is a Down Time Mode. He can just sit, relax, & sip his sponsored Dr. Pepper drink.

jlk

Not too much to say today, but I'm enjoying reading all of the comments by the "I CAN QUIT ANYTIME" gang.

I agree NovelaMaven, that Siller is much better than I expected. I watched a couple of episodes of, I think, Maid en Manhattan in which he played a rich guy. I was underwhelmed. I think playing a guy with a dark side suits him better.

I'm thinking Octavio arranged the crypt torture. Judging by his almost walking in on Reina taking a bath, I think he may have been obsessed with the woman his son was also after. Matter of fact, he kind of makes a habit of that. As someone here said, he's a mean old SOB, so creating fake deaths of the people she cared about would be just like him.

Oh no! Did I comment and forget to thank Caroline for her fine recap? I surely did. Thanks, Caroline, excellent job on your recap.

The only thing that I will say about tonight's episode is that I too have the same $10 phones from Walgreens that was in Smeeth's office. In fact I have 5 of them...lol

Wait, beanie failure... While Navier listened, Esmeeth told Octavio that they had had a child together and then told Navier that Octavio was his father and then tried to tell him that she wasn't the mother? This does not compute!!

Jean - I am so glad to see that I'm not the only confused person. )I had chalked it up to being brain-dead-tired) I saved the episode to watch again tomorrow, to be sure that whole thing went the way you and I thought it went. It. made. no. sense. at. all.

Jean - Esmeeeth made up a story about the maid also being pregnant at the same time, and I think this is what has us confused. She was CYA, but the whole thing still made no sense. Probably a writers' ploy so that Navier could say (yet again) that he would never like/want to meet/ whatevs his bio-mom.

NIA - LOL Well, they have Walgreens in Vegas, no? And Florida where this is being filmed, no? LOL

Sorry Doris. I understood what Esmeeth told Navier but what bust my beanie is why anyone would believe the sudden appearance of the pregnant maid and it seems that even Navier was suspicious.

NovelaMaven,

You have such an amazing way with words. I loved your comment about Victor and Estefi: "These two just Snap, Crackle and Pop all over the screen" and "If ever there were soul-less mates, it's these two."
Snap, crackle, and pop captures the feeling perfectly, and I'm going to try to remember the wonderful term "soul-less mates."

Thanks Caroline! Wonderful recap!

I'm late to comment and don't really have anything else to add to what has already been said.

Tonight

Yes. She made up the existence of another maid being pregnant to hide the fact that she is his mom.

Navier was suspicious and I think that's why he told her that he wouldn't be able to handle and forgive if he were to find our that she is his mom.

I think she made up that whole story about Washington because she knew Navier was listening in to the conversation.

*find out not find our

Who turned on the TV with the news report? It has to be someone that is at the mansion.

Parte 1

Octavio was Reina's lover??? Victor tells Reina not to believe anything that big O says -- he's a liar! Big O laughs mirthlessly. So does Vic. He tells how big O lied before, how he said the woman he loved was sleeping with him and as a result, Vic actually stole his own child and lost the love of his life. Who was his victim? Estefanía Pérez Hidalgo. "I'm Greta's mom," announces Estefi.

O maintains his ironic posture. It's all a big show to him. Navier stands silently, his face revealing his disdain. O leaves the room.

Motor-mouth Connie has called Christian. Now, over a glass of wine, she pours her broken logorrheic heart out to him. He assures her he won't make her suffer.

After scaring the putz straight (we hope), Susana and Juanjo get back to her room. Juanjo doesn't think she killed the unlucky 13, does he? Hard to say. But he has an urge to kiss her and he gives in to it.

In a parking ramp, Esmeeth gets into the black sedan in which big O sits. "This isn't a romantic visit. Someone is blackmailing me and I don't like it..."

A white sedan pulls up. Is that Navier at the wheel?

"...so I have to tell you something I kept from you for 30 years -- we have a son."

Big O is impactado. "You and I have a son?" Their son (it IS Navier!) watches. [Does the Dragon read lips?]

Lázaro tells Estefi that what Greta said about him was a lie. He doesn't want Greta to suffer either.

Reina approaches Estefi. She gets it that Estefi wants to live in the house to be close to Greta. Estefi says she also wants to be close to Reina. Estefi loves a man whose life is in danger because of Reina. "If you love him (si lo quieres) even a little..."

Reina sets her straight: "No lo quiero, señora, lo amo." (I'm not just fond of him, I love him.). "Then leave him," says Estefi. "Victor isn't an ordinary man or a jealous husband -- he's a murderer."

Victor enters right on cue and stands between the two women, apparently quite pleased with himself. Have they been talking about him?

In the parking garage, big O wants to know everything about his son. He wants to meet him. [Say what! Navier has a listening device! He hears everything!]

Esmeeth says she was confused: she was expecting a child of a man she was supposed to put in jail. She felt she was betraying those who had placed their trust in her. She made a decision to disappear. Her bosses gave her a leave of absence and she went far away.

Big O says he looked everywhere for her but he was hemmed in by his partners. They were furious with O because they knew who Esmeeth really was. Esmeeth says she knows -- they followed her.

"Did you lose our son?" Esmeeth tells him her son is alive and he is quite a man (todo un hombre).

Estefi assures Victor that his 'reinas' had only good things to say about him, especially now that Estefi's 20-year separation from her daughter is over. Once Estefi leaves the kitchen, Reina asks Victor why he did that. How could he separate a mother and daughter like that? He did it out of rage and jealousy. "You shouldn't have," says Reina.

"I'm a man of extremes," he says, "a man who loves with great passion...I love and I hate with equal intensity, and if I feel betrayed, I'm capable of anything."

¿Hasta de matar? (Even murder?)

Hasta de matar.

Parte 2

Juanjo and Susana seem headed for the horizontal, but at the last minute she changes her mind. She pushes him away and he ends up on the floor. He gets up good-naturedly, steals another kiss, and leaves, not a bit sorry. To judge by her expression, neither is Susana.

Esmeeth says she had her baby in a small village in Mexico. She considered leaving everything behind for her baby, but she couldn't because THEY CAME. Who came? YOUR PEOPLE! They wanted to kill her. And once again she had a decision to make -- she had to choose to save her son.

Flashback: Young Esmeeth flees, carrying her infant in her arms. She picks up a cardboard box from the ground. Unseen by her pursuers, she enters a church. She sets the baby down at the altar, in the little box, and places a silver cross on his tiny chest. She walks away, devastated, sobbing.

"How were you able to save him?" asks O brusquely.

Flashback: Esmeeth runs. Her pursuers shoot her in the back. She falls to the ground.

"What difference does it make how I saved him? I don't owe you any explanations. All that matters is that I saved his life."

Big O demands more information. Esmeeth says she took the boy to Washington and raised him there herself. Her son knows perfectly well who big O is and doesn't want anything to do with him.

Navier listens...he tries to make sense of what he has heard.

Greta continues to believe the worst of Laz. Whatever she thinks, he wants her to know the purity and intensity of his love for her -- his first and last love.

Christian takes Connie home. He seems charmed by her awkward loquaciousness and insistence on talking trash about her ex. He kisses her just west of her lips and leaves with a promise to call her again.

A moment later, there's a knock on the door. Connie opens it, expecting Christian. But it's Izzy -- and man is he jealous! Connie boots him out the door.

Estefi asks big O why he wants her to steal the diamond. She warns him that if she manages to pull it off, she's not going to share it with him. He knows that. He just wants her to win so that his son Victor will lose.

Vic tells Reina not to bother looking for Navier -- he's out tonight. Is she upset that he asked Estefi to live in the house? He's asking because Reina has surely noticed how Navier undresses Estefi with his eyes [not really necessary, given how she dresses]. "So you didn't bring her here to be close to her daughter -- you brought her here to make me suffer? You want me to feel jealous at the thought of them together?" "That's exactly why I brought her here," admits Victor.

Esmeeth returns to her office. A moment later, Navier follows her in. She knows he was following big O and had his car miked, she says. She's the one who taught him how to plant listening devices. Navier says he can't believe that she has a child with big O. Esmeeth changes the subject: she wants Navier to catch big O. She wants that man to rot in jail. Navier will do it, he says, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. He'll do it for Esmeeth and for her son. He promises.

"Even though Octavio de Rosas is your father?"

Parte 3

"Yes, Bolívar, you're O's son." "What? No! Definitely no." "Yes, sadly, you are. It's time you knew the truth. That criminal -- that unscrupulous mafioso -- is your father. And Victor de Rosas is your brother."

Victor likes Navier, he tells Reina. He's brave, he's a man of principle -- he's a good man. And he's not bad-looking either (muy apuesto). But Victor knows that one day Reina is going to come begging for Victor's loving -- just like the old, imaginary days. She holds herself rigid to his caresses. "Those days will return," he says and walks away smugly.

Asunción must have been listening in. She immediately tells Reina that everything Victor said was bull twaddle. Reina never loved Victor and her life in the mansion was a misery. "Then why didn't I leave?" "Out of fear. You were threatened."

"Ask me anything you want," says Esmeeth. Navier wants to know why she lied and how long she has known the truth. She has always known, she says. Then why did she recruit him? Why didn't she let him decide whether or not to go up against his own family? He wasn't prepared to choose, she says, and he was the person they needed. His love for Reina and his thirst for vengeance were needed to drive the mission forward. And she wasn't wrong. Navier hasn't hesitated at any moment; he hasn't inherited any bad blood from the de Rosas family; he's a good man; he's a man of principles; he definitely doesn't take after his father.

"So who do I take after? My mother?" "Yes, your mother."

Estefi is disgusted that big O wants to use her to hurt his own son. O ruined her life once, she says, and she'll never make a deal with him. She owes him nothing for the cat burglar training. He should be grateful she didn't kill him. But he shouldn't get too relaxed...and uh...he should forget about diamonds -- he's a little old for those games.

"Estefanía," he calls out to her as she leaves the room. "Gracias."

Flashback: Big O reads a document: "Those four diamonds must be together. The four cardinal points: N, S, E and W. Whoever possesses them will control all time and space [Whoa!], but will bear a curse; and only a queen or a goddess is safe from it." He fondles two ginormous red diamonds.

"Who was my mother, Esmeeth?" asks Navier. "Tell me about her."

She was a servant in the de Rosas family, a good and brave woman. She and Esmeeth became friends while Esmeeth was in the de Rosas house. Both fell in love with big O, both became pregnant with his child, and both kept quiet about their situation. Esmeeth went away with her child; the servant knew she was dying because she had a very grave illness, but rather than leave her son with Octavio, she preferred to leave him in a church.

"So this cross was my mother's?" "Yes."

[So where's the human lie detector now?]

Parte 4

Esmeeth says she learned about that much later. When she found Navier, he was in jail. She helped him as well as she could, feeling that she owed it to her friend.

"And YOUR son? Is it true that he wants nothing to do with O?" It is. Navier says he'd like to meet him -- after all, they're brothers.

Izzy comes back pounding on Connie's door. He wants all the details about her night with that cop. She says it was one of the most intense, passionate nights of her life. Izzy can't take it. He jumps her bones -- he knows that poli can't make her feel the things she feels with him! [Where's Roman? It's the living room couch, guys!]

Laz tells Estefi he knows she's Greta's ma -- though her secret is safe with him -- and he loves Greta for real. Juanjo tells Estefi that the putz is the one she should be worried about -- he extorted $50,000 from Susana to keep him from revealing the secret. Laz pulls out the phone video of the misbehavin' putz. Just as Juanjo says they have to tell Susana before doing anything, in walks Susana herself.

While Victor is burning the 'suicide' letters to Clara and Greta, Leonard Nimoy calls. "You're very close to having the four diamonds: one you already have; another will be auctioned off; and your father has the other two. Come see me tomorrow. I want all the diamonds to be yours, and I want your torture to end."

Reina brushes Clarita's hair. Clarita tells her mother that Navier is good at many things like drawing dragons and cooking hamburgers. He was very sad when he thought Reina was dead. "I don't want to make you mad, but I don't really like it that Victor is my daddy. I'd like another kind of daddy -- more like Javier." Reina hugs her daughter.

Navier can meet Esmeeth's son later. This isn't the time for getting all touchy-feely. It's time to think and to act. If he can't do that, then he has her permission to leave. She can find him a mission abroad -- she'll figure out some excuse. But if he stays, he has to see his mission through to the bitter end. Even though those people are his own blood, he has make sure they end up in prison...or dead.

Navier chooses to go on. La sangre no es nada. Blood means nothing. Blood doesn't make a family. Ties of affection make a family, not the stuff that runs through your veins. He feels nothing for Victor or big O. He wants them to pay! He wants justice!

That's the answer Esmeeth was hoping for. She dismisses him -- go home, relax, watch tv, laugh...

Navier wisecracks: Maybe Esmeeth is going to tell him what to watch? Then he turns very serious:

"You know, I can tolerate just about anything: abandonment, confusion (desconcierto), truth, meaningless blood ties, revenge; but there's one thing I couldn't tolerate -- and it passed through my mind for a moment -- what if you were my mother? what if all of this was a trick; and that son you talked about doesn't exist -- that it was me. I couldn't bear that. And I couldn't forgive that."

Navier leaves. Esmeeth sits alone and weeps.

Estefi and Susana agree that the putz must be dealt with. Susana wants to tell Greta the truth about her parentage. Estefi thinks it's not the right time. Laz tells both moms his love for Greta is sincere. Susana hopes what she told the putz was strong enough to scare him away.

Big O tells Victor that one of the four red diamonds is being auctioned off. Is big O planning to buy it? He shrugs. It's very expensive, he tells Victor, and they say it's cursed.

Reina is awakened by her television switching on and playing the fake news story about Clara's drowning. ¡Clara! ¡Hija! she calls frantically.

Parte 5

Victor is glad that O has no interest in the diamond; it would be easy to take him out of the picture and realize the curse. Why break with tradition, right?

Father and son chuckle wickedly. "You're not capable of killing your father, right?" Octavio asks.

"I wouldn't be so sure of that," answer Victor, an easy smile on his face. "It would be perfect -- I take you out of the picture, I keep the diamond and I become your only heir."

"You wouldn't be my only heir because you have a brother who has an advantage over you: he's the son of the only woman I ever loved."

Javier chooses that moment to return to the de Rosas house. Victor glares at him.

Upstairs, Reina goes to the window and looks down at the pool. She sees a small body floating face-down on the surface of the water. ¡CLARA!

Yes, guys, Esmeeth lied because she spotted the bug in O's car and knew that Navier was listening in.

Now he KNOWS that Octavio is his father and Victor is his brother; he has his suspicions about Esmeeth, but he isn't sure.

Thanks NovelaMaven!

Wow! What an episode!

Esmeeth and her half truths to Navier.

Rats! Victor burned those letters! Now Navier will have to find out some other way that he is Clara's dad.

Susana, Juanjo, Lazaro, and Estefania teaming up against the Putz. I'm liking this alliance against the Putz. What will they do?

Poor Clara. Who would do such a thing?

Another "OH CRAP!" ending! Thanks for the recap NovelaMaven! Open house was last night and I didn't get to watch until this morning and since the coffee hadn't kicked in I really needed your details.

I completely agree with you about Estefy and Victor's snapping, crackling and popping.

I'm not even going to pretend I can quit anytime. It's a lie and I know it.

Fabulous recap, Novelera! I loved:

"where is the human lie detector now?" and

"He's asking because Reina has surely noticed how Navier undresses Estefi with his eyes [not really necessary, given how she dresses]."

I apologize for jumping into comments on the episode before you posted your recap. BUT it still makes no sense. Esmeeth knows that Navier is listening to her conversation with Big O. She tells the story with the untruthful end at least in part so that Navier doesn't recognize it as his own story. Why then tell Navier that Big O is his father and concoct a totally ridiculous and overcomplicated story about a dead servant mother? I guess that Navier's emotions interfered with his lie detecting abilities.

Is there anyone in the deRosas house who doesn't know that Stefi is Greta's bio mom except Greta and maybe Clara?

NovelaMaven - Thank you for the recap and snark!

Even though Christian told Connie that he won’t make her suffer, he definitely makes Viewerville suffer.

So, Izzy just drops trou and they go at it? Really? Is this his idea of “getting back together”?

”[So where's the human lie detector now?]”
THANK YOU. (!!!) I guess such skilz come and go, as needed. YMMV

Is there anyone in Las Vegas who doesn't know that Stefi is Greta's bio mom except Greta and maybe Clara?

Aaawwwww. So maybe Clarita is having a llamadita de la sangre during her conversation with Reina?

”I'm not even going to pretend I can quit anytime. It's a lie and I know it.”
LOL Sara!

Doris: "Is there anyone in Las Vegas that doesn't know that Stefi is Greta's bio mom except Greta maybe Clara." LOL

NM--Thank you for this. I don't usually pick up things to quote (since I'm so verbose anyway), but I don't know why, this one got me chuckling the rest of the way through..."Juanjo and Susana seem headed for the horizontal..."

The Navier revelation was sooo unexpected. OK, Navier has swallowed the whole unbelievable story from Smeeth. He's also now aware that he not only has one half-brother out there in Washington, DC, but that Vic is another one.

Meanwhile, O gloats telling Vic he is no longer his only heir. Just another thing for Vic to jot down in his little black book of people to get out of the way. He'll have to do a little research on this one.

Navier explained the mike thing to Smeeth by reminding her that Vic now has the house wired up to detect all mikes in the house, so he thought putting one in the car would be smart.

Leonard Nimoy tells Vic, "I want all the diamonds to be yours, and I want your torture to end." HUH???

He's the one busy torturing people, maybe not at the same level as Octavio, but still....

OK, how can Clarita's drowning in the mansion pool get on the TV news and the place isn't crawling with police, rescue squad, and reporters? Reina--get a grip. Oh, oh, I was sure the body was a plastic blow-up doll, but the face down in the pool might be true after all. And the finger points AT: Octavio, Victor, OBD, but probably not Stefie or Susana. How about the Putz? He's not smart enough to do the TV news thing, the way it equaled the one in the crypt.

All these revelations are ruining this week's Wisdom of the Dragon (la llamada de la sangre, human lie detectors and other familial concerns). I'm going to post another back episode to try and catch up. Dag nabit, Victor (and Novela Maven).

P.S. I think the real reason Stefie has moved into the mansion is that Telemundo is in arrears with the rent on Stefie's mansion.

We'll know for sure if all her diamonds have to be put in storage somewhere....I wonder if Lopez 2.0 is also going to show up at the mansion. What about her maid?

thanks so much NovelaMaven,
fabulous recap!

interesting to watch eSmeeth backpedal after realizing Navier is listening, while still trying to keep it believable for both Navier and O.

and Navier definitely has issues with his mother that are clouding his judgment.

(so why hasn't Navier given Reina back the necklace, that Esmeeth recovered from her body and gave back to Navier?)

I'm thinking Susana and Juanjo are out of their league with Estefi.

also interesting that all of the heavy hitters are under one roof, so who could have pulled off this thing with Clara, I'm thinking the same person that staged her death and kidnapped her from the morgue, (wasn't this the same video she saw then), and once again the chief of security is not at home.

Anita,

Since I know how fond you are of textual precision, I should tell you that Leonard Nimoy used the Spanish word infierno which I took the great liberty of rendering as 'torture.' Either way, it is an enigmatic pronouncement (not that I would expect any less from Leonard Nimoy).

Though the tv recording and Clara's midnight swim might have been arranged by proxy, it is interesting that Victor, O, and Navier were downstairs together at the time, and Izzy was off making a booty call. We didn't see OBD last night...

OK, NM, you made me look up "logorrheic." Funny. I thought it was a disease. Hmm, maybe it *is* a disease.

Deb, I see you and I were following similar trains of thought about WHODUNNIT last night!

I had a thought as I watched this episode, one that I have rarely had in novelaland -- Somebody might actually have thought this story through! Is it possible that the writers know where they are going? Can it be that the pieces will fit together in the end?

Is there intelligent life in Miami????

Deb: Yes, this is the same video that was part of the reason that Reina tried to commit suicide in the crypt. So logically [dangerous word in this context], the same person who set up the crypt stuff has done this. Octavio seems like the most obvious suspect so it's probably not him. It would seem like it would have to be someone staying in the house but as we all know, people on novelas cruise in and out of other people's houses with no one being the wiser.

Deb--
Ha! LOL The "Chief of Security" was not at home.

About the necklace. Good point. Victor has seen the necklace on Reina, lied about it, knows it means a lot to her and now Navier is wearing it? Nothing gets past Victor, so when is he going to notice it? Guess we'll have to wait and see if this figures in later.

Reina gave the necklace back to FakeNico in the hospital. When he was shot, Esmeeth gave it back to Navier and he's now wearing it.

Ooops, missed something in the travels of the necklace. Fico gives Navier the cross back after nearly dying in the warehouse fire.

Navier must have given it back to Reina (I can't find the text), but "He sees that she is wearing his cross...I'll always wear it."

THEN after Reina "dies," Smeeth gives it back to Navier. Whew.

"P.S. I think the real reason Stefie has moved into the mansion is that Telemundo is in arrears with the rent on Stefie's mansion."
Anita --- LOL! We need Stefy's maid for comic relief. Lopez 2.0, not so much.

"Leonard Nimoy tells Vic, "I want all the diamonds to be yours, and I want your torture to end."
Sometimes I wonder if Nimoy is really Victor's father. Maybe abuelita had her own fling and Big O is not his bio-dad, in spite of the similar narcissistic sociopathic personalities.

" Somebody might actually have thought this story through!"
You're probably on to something there. After all, even "LOST" had a plan.

Doris,

"Sometimes I wonder if Nimoy is really Victor's father. Maybe abuelita had her own fling and Big O is not his bio-dad, in spite of the similar narcissistic sociopathic personalities."

...which would explain why Big O hates Victor so much...

Week Five Installment

THE WISDOM OF THE DRAGON
Subtitled: I Would Not Have Made Any Of This Up

A Dragon has super sniper vision.

A Dragon doesn’t like to work in the dark (that’s information-wise, not light-wise).

A Dragon is not obedient and is far from being a kitten.

A Dragon can personify a priest or just about anyone that works out of a booth.

A Dragon cannot be bought because the buyers couldn't afford the price.

A Dragon’s shirt is multi-purpose; it can be used as a face mask against smoke, as well as a tourniquet.

A Dragon does not wear an undershirt.

Actually, contrary to made-up fairy tales, dragons are impervious to fire.

A Dragon should use mouthwash liberally.

Reminder: Body-language reading doesn’t work if subject is in a bubble bath.

Reminder: Do not place listening devices where clumsy maids can reveal them while dusting.

A Dragon always does what he can’t.

A Dragon does not need Magic Horseshoes.

A Dragon protects a damsel like a MAN, not like an angel.

A Dragon can love and hate the same damsel at the same time; improbable but true. Unfortunately, it complicates human relationships and wastes a dragon’s time.

A Dragon must always look good in a hospital gown, especially when visited by a damsel.

A Dragon’s weak spot is a damsel in distress, especially beautiful ones.

Power Rings are optional; used only under extreme conditions.

A Dragon should not drink any beverage he hasn’t prepared himself, especially coffee.

A Dragon should not drink coffee out of teacups, ever.

Thus Endeth Week Five

I just finished re-watching this episode during my lunch hour.

There is no logical reason that Esmeeth told Navier that Big O is his father. (I know , I know…) She changed the story of how she raised her son in Wash. DC after spotting the mic device in the car, which would have been enough. Really. Clearly the writers did this as a plot propeller. (like they need one…).

That cannot really be Clarita’s body that Reina saw floating in the pool. NO way in telenovelaland could a legitimate TV report be made of someone’s death before the body is found.

WHERE is my beanie???

Anita - Love the updated WoD!
May I add:
Body-language reading doesn’t work if subject is his bio-mom.

Umm….. I can quit anytime I want to. I’ve quit four times this month already…. easy peasy, see?

Hi Doris: The news report is a fake. It was the one that came on when Reina was in the crypt. The first thing Reina did when Navier found her was ask about Clarita and Navier assured her that she was fine.

Someone has *made* or *appeared to make* the fake broadcast come true.

Anita,

Thanks so much for Week Five of The Wisdom of the Dragon. Funny, funny stuff!

"A Dragon always does what he can’t."

...and also what he CAN!

Wow, late to the party again. West Coast disadvantage.

NovelaMaven, that recap was choice! Loved "broken logorrheic heart". Also "not really necessary given how she dresses". And "so where's the human lie detector".

Last night, watching Victor burn the incriminating letters, I was thinking: The De Rosas mansion doesn't have a shredder?

Connie, Connie. I was not happy with you last night. In the first place there was no reason to lie to Izzy that you'd already done the deed on the first date with the cop. And in the second place, you did the right thing booting Izzy out the first time and should never have opened the door the second time. Izzy does NOT deserve to get to jump her bones again. He may be slightly on the pervo side but I'm rooting for Christian for Connie.

novelera - I was wondering if the de Rosas mansion had smoke detectors.

NovelaMaven, thanks for the magnificent recap. I loved it starting with Connie's "broken logorrheic heart." Perfect! And I laughed out loud at "Reina has surely noticed how Navier undresses Estefi with his eyes [not really necessary, given how she dresses]." And, of course, "[So where's the human lie detector now?]."

I confess that I'm still a tad confused about Navier's listening in to the conversation between O and Esmeeth in O's car. Did Navier put a listening device in O's car? So prescience is another of the dragon's many talents?

I like Anita's suggestion about Telemundo's cost-saving measures being the reason everyone is now living under the same roof. Another sign of the cost-cutting measures is that they've done away with anyone who will cue in the actors. Instead of a person who gives cues, the actors simply listen for their name and immediately come on stage. E.g., Victor pops up on cue during the conversation between Estefi and Susana; Susana does so just as Juanju says that someone will have to tell Susana; and just as O tells Victor that he's not O's only heir, in walks Navier.

There are all kinds of crazy notions I've had to swallow while watching this novela, but one I can't (yet) buy is "Somebody might actually have thought this story through!" :-)

Thanks for the kind words, folks! This is one show that is truly fun to recap -- the thing practically writes itself!

Hey, maybe to economize even further, everyone will get trapped in a single room in the mansion, sort of like in Buñuel's Exterminating Angel. [It could happen; this is a VERY referential telenovela!]

Juanita--
In essence here's how Navier got to listen in on Esmeeth's convo with O.

From the recap: "Esmeeth returns to her office. A moment later, Navier follows her in. She knows he was following big O and had his car miked, she says. She's the one who taught him how to plant listening devices."

Navier says that Victor has had the whole house wired with mike detectors. He must have decided the car might be a safe place and he might pick up some good stuff between Izzy and Vic. (I don't think that is O's personal car, but it might be. In any case Navier was ON THE JOB.)

Since I was checking the recap, I found a slight inconsistency, about the cross necklace.

Navier asks Smith about the cross. Is this cross my mother's? and she answers yes. Navier should have already known that. He's mentioned several times it's all he has to connect him to his mother.

From the earliest recap, where Navier is telling Reina how NN died in prison, etc.

"He had no family and nothing except the cross that he gave her [meaning Reina]. That was the one thing that he had when he was abandoned as a baby and his only link to his mom. Reina says Victor told her that he gave her cross."

I think it would have been ok for Navier to acknowledge the cross without it being turned into a question.

Doris--"May I add:
Body-language reading doesn’t work if subject is his bio-mom."

That one will appear in week 7, for sure.

Juanita--"So prescience is another of the dragon's many talents?"

He'll have to give us some better examples. I'll give him a couple of points for foresight.

Is there a document (like the recap compilation) in which the Wisdom of the Dragon is all in one place??

Izzy's sure efficient with his foreplay. Drop the pants and good to go! But was he wearing hot pink boxers?

Novelamaven- Seems like these writers actually do have a plan. It's not insane in the Corazon Indomable "writers making it up as they go along and forgetting what they did the day before". More like "good writers who thought up a completely insane story after a night of binge drinking". How much fun will their wrap party be!

Kelly

So...since learning he and Victor are brothers, Navier hasn't had one moment of being grossed out that he did the deed, numerous times, with his niece?

Vivi - I thought the same - he has not said a thing about having been with his niece. Perhaps he will say something tonight.

I'm shocked that we haven't had a shirtless scene lately. I hope we get one soon. I'm all ready wth my special flask to take a drink.

Anita, my confusion stems from my assumption that O was driving his own car. Indeed, I thought he wouldn't deign to borrow, say, Victor's car. Had it been clear that he was driving Victor's car, Navier's having bugged it would have made more sense to me.

Octavio to Victor, "I hope my other son is better".

Plz help me get this red diamond curse straight?

Anyone who has one, two, or three of them will be cursed...unless they are a goddess or a "Reina". Right?

But the person who owns all four will not have the curse?

Ooooh,,,, cute anti-robot confirmation this a.m. Just HOW does one type in a photo of a wooden bowl??? Cute, Google, really cute. LOL

"Octavio to Victor, "I hope my other son is better"."

That was funny! Big O is a real gem (pun intended).

Sara--I've only posted the Wisdom of the Dragon in the comments section. I'll be happy to create a blog headliner for it on the Telemundo pages and update it from time to time.

I'll let you all know when it is up.

Sorry this is taking soooo long. I'm almost done.

Juanita--I think it WAS Octavio's car they were in and bugged by the ever efficient Navier.

Octavio sure makes himself at home quick enough. House, car, liquor, cigars, old lovers, vengeances, etc..

Can't wait for discussion of last night's action.

Wednesday - Part One

De Rosas Mansion

Navier comes back from his meeting with Esmeeth to find Victor and Big O having a discussion. He excuses himself from interrupting a family discussion (charla familiar). Victor replies that he and his dad were enjoying a rich family discussion. We hear Reina screaming. She runs down the stairs screaming that Clara is drowning and heads for the pool. Vic and Big O just stand there but Navier is after her like a shot, taking off his jacket as he runs. He and Reina jump in the pool (Navier dives), get Clara out and even though, Laz, the health professional, is there, it's Navier who gives her CPR. Finally, Clara coughs up some water and revives. Meanwhile Victor and Stefi have strolled out to see what's going on.

CIA Headquarters

Esmeeth has obviously been staying late at the office. Rocky comes in and gives her a missive from El Supremo. Esmeeth opens it and it's a magazine or glossy brochure about the auction of the red diamond with a sticky note on it. She reads the note: Dear Esmeeth: There's going to be an auction (subasta) of a red diamond and there will be surprises. I want you to be there and I also want you to surprise me.

De Rosas Mansion

Reina is hysterical that someone has tried to kill her daughter. She hugs Clara says that her daughter is everything to her. If Clara dies, she will die. Victor moves in for the group hug and Navier (who actually saved the kid) has to move back.

Greta tells Susana that she is concerned about what is going on with Clarita. She feels sorry for Clarita because she identifies with her. When she was Clara's age, she felt alone and unprotected, too. Susana protests that she protected her but Greta replies that there was always a special bond between Susana and Camila that she didn't share. Susana tells Greta that if she (Susana) is alive now after Camila died, it's because of Greta.

In Reina's bedroom, Clarita tells Victor, Reina and Navier that she doesn't know how she got in the pool. She was sleeping in her bed. Reina says that the TV came on with the same video that was on in the “deposito de atauds,” “coffin storage place,” where she was held. Nav checks the TV but can't find anything. “No puede ser,” “It can’t be,” but Reina swears she is not crazy. Navier congratulates Clarita for being strong and fighting to live. Clarita replies that it was the strength of a dragon, “una dragona,” a girl dragon. Victor gives him the stink eye and Nav excuses himself.

Stefi comes in to see Big O and refers to the incident of Clara in the pool and tells Big O that she hopes he has limits. Big O replies that he does have limits but he doesn't know what she is talking about. “She's your granddaughter,” says Stefi. “Si tú lo dices,” “If you say so,” replies Big O enigmatically. Stefi is thoughtful. Navier comes in and tells Stefi that he wants to talk to Big O about something very important - alone. Stefi leaves.

Leyva House

Connie and Izzy put themselves together after their passion on the couch. Connie is babbling about how wonderful it was, Izzy shouldn't be jealous, she needs his body, his caresses. She wants them to be together, have children – he can choose how many. “Eso no cambia nada,” “This doesn't change anything,” says Izzy brutally, “You and I can't be together.” He leaves. Poor Connie.

Wednesday - Part Two

De Rosas Mansion

Big O says that he doesn't want to talk now and especially not to Navier. That's too bad, replies Nav. “His job is to ensure Reina's security and that is a big responsibility for him. Big O says that he is a straight-talking guy and he didn't like Bolivar from the moment he first saw him. Nav says that he would like to change this relationship that started so badly. Big O tells him to “cuidase,” “be careful” that it doesn't end up worse. “I don't know how you are with Victor but with me, watch out (using ‘cuidase’) again.” Navier replies grimly, “When all this is over we will see who has to watch out for whom, Señor de Rosas.” Nav is definitely not in humble servant mode here.

Next Day

Reina is having breakfast with Clarita. She doesn't want to leave her for a second but she has to go to the bridal shop and sign some papers. Navier comes in, gives Clarita a something. It looks like a candy bar. He tells her he is proud of her. She thanks him for saving her. They kiss. Asunción takes Clarita out. Reina tells Navier that they tried to kill her daughter and she is very nervous. Navier replies that they got warning. He tells her to remember that they are just trying to drive her crazy. “¡Estoy loca!” “I am crazy!” replies Reina. In comes Big O with OBD. Reina asks what she is doing there. Big O replies that this is his house and he can invite whomever he wants.

Laz is with Greta. He says that the time has come to say goodbye. “Adios,” replies Greta coldly. Laz protests that he hasn't lied to her, begs her not to believe that good-for-nothing Damian, gives her another chance to change her mind. He kisses her. “Please Greta, think,” he says, “you can believe in me; you can save what we have. Once I go out this door, I’m not coming back.”

Juanjo is with Susana. She is nervous and suggests that they maintain a distance from each other. Juanjo understands. Regarding what happened yesterday, he says, “caballeros no tiene memoria,” “Gentlemen have no memory.” Susana replies that ladies do have memories. Juanjo says it was only a kiss… At this point Stefi comes in and says there is bad news – Damian is “agonizando” [this means to be in your death throes – if only that were true] in the hospital. Caras de impactados!

Old Nimoy’s place

Victor and Izzy are at Old Nimoy’s place, which appears to be a second-hand lighting fixtures store. Vic orders Izzy to find out about the supposed brother that Big O told him about. Izzy replies that knowing his father as he does, he is sure that it is quite possible. “I want you to “averiguar” “find out” says Victor irritably, “don’t jump to conclusions.” For some reason, Izzy flashes back to passion with Connie and Vic tells him not to fall in love with the wrong person. He has experience with that. Vic calls for Old Nimoy but [gasp] he is dead on the floor. Has the curse of the red diamonds struck again? At that moment, Esmeeth walks in. “Señor de Rosas?” she says.

Nav’s SUV

Navier is driving Reina to her “taller.” She notices that he is concerned about something. He says it’s nothing. He doesn’t want to talk about himself. She wants him drive faster so that she can get home to Clara faster. “Entiendo prefectamente, Señora,” says Nav back in humble servant mode. Reina yells at him not to use “usted” with her. She is not the Señora. He is the love of her life whether he likes it or not. He will always be the love of her life and the only who can take her out of this “infierno,” “this hell. Please help me.”

Wednesday - Part Three

De Rosas Mansion

Big O thanks OBD for her help. He says that without her, it would have been impossible. OBD expresses her deep hatred for Reina and how she wants to get rid of her forever. Octavio replies that her hatred must be very strong to want to kill her own sister. Big O says that he is a good hater too and would like to see Reina and Bolivar dead. But he has scruples (codigos) concerning family. For example, he hates Victor and would like to ruin his business, etc. but he says that he is not capable of killing his own son. [Qué ironía since we know that he is in fact trying to kill his own son.] OBD replies that Big O’s scruples must be pretty special since his granddaughter nearly died yesterday. Big O says that they both know that Clara is NN’s daughter and doesn’t have any of his precious sangre. [Wrong again.] Big O says that he doesn’t just go around killing people. He’s not crazy. He knows what he is doing and why he is doing it. When OBD got the note asking if she wanted to take over for her mother, she never expected that it came from Big O. Big O asks if she likes the theater. He is the “titiritero,” “the puppeteer.” OBD says that her mother didn’t deserve to die. Big O swears that he didn’t kill Carmen. He says that he wants OBD to be faithful and stay by his side. When he gets the news that Reina and Bolivar are dead, he will drink a toast to her. She suggests that they drink a toast together. Big O agrees. He says that a victory in the battle that leave two people dead is worth celebrating.

Nav’s SUV

[We cut back and forth between OBD and Big O and Reina and Nav in the car but I have consolidated.] Reina looks out the car window and sees a big sign on the side of a building. It says, “Tragic death of the Queen of Hearts and Javier Bolivar.” At this moment, Javier realizes that the brakes don’t work. Reina tells him to slow down. He tells her that he can’t there are no brakes and orders her to jump from the car. Before she can, however, Nav loses control of the car and it rolls over several times and comes to rest upside down. Navier crawls out from under the car. He sees Reina inside. He pulls her out. She is unconscious but comes around after a few minutes and hugs him. [I noticed that Navier’s curly locks were really fetching while he was holding Reina – not at all what one would expect for someone who just survived a roll-over car crash – but hey that’s the dragon – his hair is always perfect.]

Old Nimoy’s place

Victor tells Izzy to find out who killed Old Nimoy. Esmeeth tells them that the police are coming. Vic tells Esmeeth that he wants to find out who killed the “maestro,” his mentor, his teacher, his guide. This man cared about him more than his own father did. He won’t rest until he finds out who is guilty.

De Rosas Mansion

Greta hasn’t responded so Laz says that he understands her silence. He’s leaving. He had a faint hope that things would change. His grandma always said the hope is the last thing that dies. Greta replies that her hope died a long time ago. Everything with him was a farce and a circus. Laz says that it is easy to call him a liar and to believe everything that her stupid boyfriend but he says that one day she will leave that idiot. Stefi comes in and tells them that Damian is in the hospital in a bad way and wants to see her. Greta asks what happened to him and Laz says that unfortunately, it wasn’t him who attacked Damian.

Susana and Juanjo do their usual mutual blame thing, this time about hiring the guys who beat up Damian.

Crash scene

Reina refuses medical attention. She tells Navier that she just wants this nightmare to end. Nav says that he will protect her but Reina can’t be consoled. Navier tells Rocky that someone in the De Rosas house sabotaged the car.

Wednesday - Part Four

Old Nimoy’s place

Esmeeth asks Victor how he met Old Nimoy. Vic says that he was standing next to ON at an art auction in New York. He kept bidding on a painting and finally ON said that was the most horrible painting he had ever seen. Vic realized that he was right. He had just been caught up in the excitement of bidding. Vic was very impressed by ON’s knowledge of things with a history. Esmeeth rattles off a number of things in this category, including precious gems – diamonds. Vic asks why Esmeeth was there. She says the same as him. She is looking for “a history, a story, a fable, a past” – “historia” in Spanish means all those things. Vic says that is good and he hopes that she finds the killer before he does because if he finds the killer first, there will just be a “historia” of vengeance.

CIA Headquarters

Reina is fed up giving information to the agents on another of the many attempts on his life. She just wants this nightmare to end. Nav gets a call from Big O. “Bolivar. Vive?” “Bolivar. Your’re alive?” Big O tells Nav that he is a man with a lot of luck but luck doesn’t last forever. The lives of some people are so short.” Reina notices that he is upset after the call but he won’t tell her why. Reina goes with Rocky to make a statement and Nav goes with Esmeeth. Reina ask Rocky to help her escape from all this, including Nav. She can’t drag Nav into this mess. Her only salvation is to go away somewhere with her daughter without Nav and hide. She wants Rocky to give her a new identity. Esmeeth promises Nav that she will leave no stone unturned to find out who did this. Nav replies that won’t be necessary. He knows who it was – Big O – his dad. Esmeeth has cara de impactada. Nav clarifies that Big O called him. Esmeeth wonders if Big O was behind everything that has happened. Nav replies that he doesn’t know but he was definitely behind this attempt and it must be related to the cartels. Esmeeth wonders what happened in those eight years that made Big O hate Reina so much and why does he hate Nav? Nav says that he and Big O didn’t get off to a good start and neither of them felt what is called the “llamada de la sangre,” “the call of the blood.”

Leyva house

You know Connie is desperate when she asks for advice on romance from slutty Miriam. Connie pretends that she has a friend. She, Connie, doesn’t know a lot about men. Nothing, says Miriam. Connie’s friend fell in love with a guy and maybe she was a little too intense and now he has left her and she doesn’t know why. Miriam tells her that guys don’t like commitments (compromisos firmes). They like free relationships. You have to lie to them and appear to want a free relationship and then you trap them. Connie leaves. Miriam calls up Damian looking for more drugs and is annoyed to learn that he is in the hospital.

Hospital

Greta and Stefi have come to see Damian. He says that he jumped by a lot of guys. Greta assumes that the beating was for his gambling debts. Damian says no. It was Laz who sent the guys to beat him up for her. Laz is dangerous, etc. etc. Greta doesn’t want to talk about this. Damian lays it on saying that Laz is a killer and a thief. He won’t file a complaint with the police for her sake but they are going to get married and then he doesn’t want Greta to see Laz anymore. Stefi tells Damian that there is no point in talking about marriage until Damian is better. Dagoberto, a new hunky guy with Stefi [where is López 2.0?] He takes Greta out. Stefi tells Damian to stop lying. She knows perfectly well it wasn’t Laz who had him beaten up. She says that this was just a warning. The next time they will kill you. Then with a friendly, “Feel better,” Stefi leaves.

Wednesday - Part Five

De Rosas Mansion

Big O tells someone on the phone not to spare any expense to find out who his other son is. Vic comes in and tells him that Old Nimoy was murdered. With false sympathy, he tells Vic that he knows that Old Nimoy was important to him. Vic says that Old Nimoy called him yesterday and said that he had something to tell him about Big O and this morning he is dead. Vic doesn’t believe in coincidences. Big O assures Vic that what Old Nimoy was going to tell Vic wasn’t important. Vic says that he is wrong. He leaves. Big O says that he hopes that his other son is better.

CIA Headquarters

Reina and Nav are together in Esmeeth’s office. He tells her that it was Octavio who tried to kill them and at least they know who the enemy is. But Navier thinks that he might have another accomplice. Who could that be? Reina says that she can’t stand the idea the she might be responsible for Nav’s death. She can’t go back to that house. He can’t protect her. He tries to reassure her. She wants him to get away from the de Rosas household that has nothing to do with. He tells her no. He was tied to the de Rosas the day he met Camila and it changed his life. Victor has to be brought to justice. He has to pay. Nav leaves. Esmeeth comes in and says that Rocky told her about their conversation and she will help Reina.

Reina de Corazones Bridal Store

Delfina shows up for her stuff and brags on how she is going to be a lady, be very important, have everything she wants, etc. Connie says good riddance. She was useless anyway.

De Rosas Mansion

Greta has a new nurse named Tibério but Greta is going to call him Lázaro. She is her old nasty self. He wheels her out. Juanjo refuses to believe that Laz had Damian beaten up. If we wanted to do that he would have done it himself. Susana says that if Laz did have Damian beaten up she applauds it. Juanjo repeats “no fue el!” “it wasn’t him!” Stefi says, “No fue porque fuí yo,” “It wasn’t him because it was me.” [Got to love Stefi. Juanjo and Susana are amateurs. Stefi is a pro.]

Thanks, Jean! Love the way you kept the recap organized.

So, now we know the Big O is behind the last few attempts on Reina (and Clara!), with help from Carmen, OBD, and Fico. But can we trust what he says about not killing Carmen? If he didn't kill her, then who did? It was very ironic how Big O was going on about not killing his blood relatives, when he has unknowingly almost killed his granddaughter and his son. Ha!

I need Connie to stop acting so desperate. It was painful hearing her go on and on about their future after the hookup with Izzy. Girl, get some pride and some backbone. She managed to stay mad at Reina for 8 years, but let's Izzy back into her heart and her bed with no explanation or apology at the drop of a hat (or pants)?

Jean – Thank you for the recap!

Clara seemed to bounce back from her NDE (near death experience) very well. In fact, the whole family did, except Reina. No increased security or guards outside Clara’s bedroom, etc.? QTH?

I’m not happy about Izzy coming over and “having” Connie. And it doesn’t change anything? Asshat.
Connie needs to cut him off. And stop asking Miriam-the-druggie for love advice.

I was hoping the accident would have knocked Reina’s head and made her recover from amnesia.

[Got to love Stefi. Juanjo and Susana are amateurs. Stefi is a pro.]
Absolutely true!

Thank you, Jean. Zowweee what an episode. The revelations are coming faster than we can keep track of them. The organization was amazing.

Got several gems for the Wisdom of the Dragon from your recap.

Vivi--Point taken about Connie. Desperation makes desperate people act desperately out of character. Izzy needs an 8-yr. time out.

More later.

Jean,

That was absolutely brilliant! It's just what we needed to tide us over a Thursday without Reina and without Mauricio.

"Damian is “agonizando” [this means to be in your death throes – if only that were true]"
Hahahaha! I thought the same thing!

"... Old Nimoy’s place, which appears to be a second-hand lighting fixtures store."
That just cracked me up!

"[I noticed that Navier’s curly locks were really fetching while he was holding Reina – not at all what one would expect for someone who just survived a roll-over car crash – but hey that’s the dragon – his hair is always perfect.]"
What can I say?

And what made me spill me coffee..

"You know Connie is desperate when she asks for advice on romance from slutty Miriam."

Thank you so much!

Sorry for all the typos. I think the only one that affects meaning is in Part 4 - Hospital. Stefi tells Damian that he [not she] knows perfectly well that it wasn't Laz who had him beaten up.

Nav sees Big O with ODB and he can't guess who Big O's new accomplice might be??

Izzy and Connie is getting a bit old. It was cute at first when having a man interested in her was such a revelation for Connie but she needs to get past the giddy girl part and grow up. Izzy has now treated her like dirt. She shouldn't let him into her life.

"Nav sees Big O with ODB and he can't guess who Big O's new accomplice might be??"

I know, right!! Not to mention OBD would know exactly where Clarita's room was and how to sneak her into the pool. The Dragon can be pretty obtuse at times.

Some language stuff:

Favorite lines from the episode:

Susana: ¿Usted es o se hace? (Are you? or are you just pretending to be?)
Juanjo: ¿Inteligente? (Intelligent?)
Susana: No, necio. (No, a fool.)
(Susana to Juanjo. ISBIS.)

Ninguno de los dos sintió lo que llaman el llamado de la sangre.
(Javier telling Smith about his first encounter with Octavio: "Neither of us felt what they call the call of the blood.").

And I wondered about this...

Navier to Esmeeth: Sí sé que hizo lo del auto, pero está relacionado con los carteles, Smith, porque son los mismos que Reina vio en su cautiverio.

I was faked out by the word "carteles" too, but I remembered them using the word before to talk about the fake billboards and signs. I think that's what it means here too. "Yes, I know he did the car thing, but he's mixed up with the [fake tv news reports?] because they're the same ones that Reina saw when she was held captive."

"Carteles" doesn't work perfectly as a synonym for "fake news video," but I don't think anyone is talking about drug syndicates here. I could easily be wrong though. :)

Jean--The outcome is still the same, but I was sure I heard Navier tell Reina in the car when he realized he had no brakes, to fasten her seat belt because he was intentionally going to roll the car over. My guess is they don't learn that in prison, but maybe in CIA school or, on Hasta el Fin del Mundo.

It probably rolled over more times than he anticipated. It just about flattened the roof. Serves him right for not asking for a car with a roll-over bar.

OBD & Big O took a chance that the TV would wake Reina up. I know I can fall asleep to the TV and not wake up even when there is a commercial or a change in program.

So, Vivi, how many mysteries can we clear up now?

Doris--I mused over the protection a reina or a diosa would have over the one holding some of the red diamonds sometime back. I had considered that was why Victor was holding onto Reina. He didn't really love her, but she was a reina, after all. Protection while he gathered up all four diamonds. Love the fact we get juicy hints and then it turns out to be wrong.

Who could have killed Carmen? Why Fico, of course (WRONG--He's dead, or is he?) Big O could be lying, as he knows how to do that well. He also has "guys" that can do dirty work for him. Maybe one of them got "friendly" with Carmen, got her confidence, and then did away with her. Big O could still say he didn't shoot her, but he was responsible for her death.

Poor Navier. His Papi hates him and wants him dead.

NM--Maybe Navier is referring to all the hand-made signs that Reina read while she was in captivity urging herself to commit suicide.

I'm going with carteles meaning signs.

Updated Mysteries List:

1)Who really is El Supremo? Is he good or bad?
2)What Reina was doing in those 7-8 years, why didn’t she contact her friends, and why the heck did she marry Victor—Partially solved. We know she was investigating Victor, and Clara might have been used to threaten her. But was 7-8 years really needed?
3)The mystery of what/whom Reina was investigating and what she discovered before the wedding—partially solved. We know she discovered Vic’s and Octavio’s dirty business (but not the details), and discovered who killed Andres’ father.
4)The mystery of who killed Stefi’s husband/Andres’ father and why.
5)Who keeps trying to kill/kidnap Reina and why?— Partially/mostly solved. Big O was behind the recent attempts and kidnappings and used Fico, Carmen, and OBD (people with grudges against Reina) to do his dirty work. We don't know if Big O was behind ALL the attempts, however.
6)The Mystery of the Curse of the Red Diamonds-- Mostly solved. Big O has 2 of them. Victor has 1. Stefi, Vic, and Big O all want to steal the 1 coming up for auction. But who is the goddess and who is the queen who are protected from their curse?
7)The mystery of Navier’s background and true parentage—Solved! Smith and Big O are the parents and we learned how it all went down and why Smith abandoned him (her life was in danger from O's gang). Navier will NOT be happy with her when he learns Smeeth is his mama.
8)The secrets of the FBI/Agent Smith and why they chose Navier to be their secret agent-- Solved. Smith wanted to be close to her baby boy, AND he was the perfect person to worm his way into Reina's heart and life, given their past.
9)The mystery of who killed Stefi’s parents, and who the little boy with her was—Partially solved. We know her parents were drug traffickers killed by other drug traffickers (who?) and the boy was her brother, who was adopted by a family—but who is he now?
10)The mystery of who killed the 13 people in the Camila video—I think we can almost lay bets that it was Victor after he found out about the video.
11)What’s the virus connection between Victor, the scientists, Stefi, and the assassin model?—This seems murkier than ever with Betina/Fico also having access to the virus and able to kill Andres and nearly kill Reina and Navier. Seems that El Supremo must have access to the virus too.
12)Who killed Carmen? – Big O says it wasn't him, but he's the #1 suspect.
13)What happened between Asuncion and Reina’s dad, and why did Asuncion leave him and Reina?

Did Big O basically admit to killing Nimoy?

New mystery:

-What was Nimoy going to tell Vic about Big O, and did Big O kill him?

#11 should say: Seems that Big O must have access to the virus too (since he hired Fico, who had Betina put it in the coffee). Or maybe that was all Fico's plan?

NovelaMaven- Thanks for the clarification on "carteles." It didn't make much sense when I heard but I was tired and can only look up so many things.

Anita: That was another rapid fire dialog that I decided not to parse out. Thanks for the correct translation. As you say, the result was the same.

Vivi: I don't think Big O admitted killing Old Nimoy but he didn't deny it either and he seems like the most logical suspect.

What was Esmeeth doing at Old Nimoy's place? Was he a known expert on red diamonds that she was going to consult or did she just need a new lamp?

Jean, I can tell you aren't tired now, LOL--Esmeeth showing up at Old Nimoy's because she needed a new lamp.

Vivi--Great update.

Yes, 7-8 years needed to bring someone down? Remember Amelia on LQLVMR spending all those years trying to get something on Pedro. Maybe 7 (or 8) is a magic telenovela number, like Veinte Años seems to be.

what a wonderful and thrilling recap,
thanks Jean!

Jean fabulous recap!

Juanjo and Susana are amateurs. Stefi is a pro.

So true, she brings the term "mama bear" to a whole new level.

NovelaMaven, thanks for the info on the word "carteles". It didn't make much sense to me when I thought they were talking about drugs, but I've learned just to smile and nod along when I watch tns.

Vivi, I love your mystery list. Definitely helps keep all the details organized. IDK why but #4 has always bothered me. At first I thought it was Stefi, and she just wanted his money. But now I think the only person it could of been was Victor. It seems that Stefi's husband(name?) was killed by the virus, which at that point I'm assuming only Victor had some. Maybe he was still possessive about Stefi, and wouldn't the guy be Victor's competition in diamond trafficking as well? Maybe he was also taking him out because of business.

jlk

I forgot to add Jean that I think the candy bar was a kit kat. My fav!

Also, I had a big laugh when Big O said this

Big O says that he doesn’t just go around killing people. He’s not crazy.

But Sir, I think you are. If only for being a tn character.

jlk

Thanks for all the nice comments (and corrections). I lost a whole hour last night because I had to go to a meeting. I kept saying, lets go, lets get through this agenda. I have to go home! I didn't say why though.

So right at the end of last night's episode, Esmeeth says that she will help Reina leave the de Rosas house and get a new identity.

If Reina leaves the de Rosas house, there would be no reason for Navier to be there and then how does he investigate Vic's and Big O's activities? Not that he's doing too much of that now anyway.

Of course, it might not happen but you'd think Esmeeth would be mindful of the progress of the investigation with El Supremo breathing down her back.

Late to the party. I hate it when real, paid work gets in the way of ***I can quit anytime*** commenting.

Jean, that recap was stupendous. Especially liked the description of Navier's perfect hair after the rollover.

I think I liked the novela better before they introduced Big O. For one thing the actor annoyed me so much in Pasión Prohibida that I reflexively cringe when he appears in a scene. And it seems like they're more or less saying that he's responsible for 90% of everything that has been mysterious up to now. So a bit of the bloom is off the rose for me.

I did love Stefy sending guys to beat up The Putz. But Greta is moving over into the same area as Izzy for me: doesn't deserve the fine person who loves them. She even knows about Damián's gambling addiction and STILL has agreed to marry him, as far as I can tell, just to spite Lázaro. And she takes the word of known addict over that of the man she's been in love with? Just dumb!

Well, one thing we can be sure of: Reina is NOT going into witness protection or at least not more than 2 or 3 episodes. The plot revolves around her.

Still liking Siller, again a big surprise to me. I like when he plays "humble servant".

Thanks Jean! Wonderful recap!

This was an exciting episode.

Octavio is sure in for a surprise when he finds out who his son is. Interesting how both Octavio and Victor have "codigos" on who they can or cannot kill.

It was funny how Laz being the medical professional stood there as Navier applied the CPR.

novelera – I wondered why Reina is not in a witness protection program, also, until I remembered that she is the bait for the bad guys.

Anita – Thank you for sorting out who has the red diamonds for me. I wish I had started a flow chart of all the facts, etc., when this thing began.

I hope Big O is a temporary character. He lacks the playfulness of the other bad guys and gives more of an “ick” factor to the story. Can you tell I don’t like him?

I'm coming even later to the party than Mauricio, but I want to add my thanks, Jean, for a terrific recap.

Doris, yep, Big O is a definite "ick". He played, just about line for line, the exact same character in Pasión Prohibida. In that one he was the father of, in that case, a fairly nice guy. He obsessively and weirdly hated his son's mother-in-law and spent the whole novela trying to "get" her. His character was rich, overbearing, stuck on himself, and lustful after younger women. Ugh.

TU MUNDO

Santa Diabla voted novela of the year for the 2014 awards show? Yikes! These votes by viewers are strange indeed.

I was looking at Telemundo's web site and was reminded that Mi Corazón Insiste was voted novela del año instead of La Reina del Sur. Unbelievable!

I disagreed with about 80% of the winners. It was interesting that there was a lot more music and a lot more music awards than telenovela awards.

Sara et al.
I compiled The Wisdom of the Dragon and posted it on the front page. Then things went haywire. Fortunately, somebody fixed it for me right quick.

Anyway, it's not perfect, but it's all in one place.

Week Six Installment was included.

THE WISDOM OF THE DRAGON
Subtitled: I Cannot Have Made Any Of This Up

A Dragon can anticipate questions that a damsel wants to ask, just by reading her.

A Dragon’s word that everything will be alright is sacrosanct. It’s only the telenovela world that prevaricates.

A Dragon can hear all important conversations under sedation.

Important to remember: Sedatives do not work on dragons.

It’s to your advantage that mere mortals think a dragon seems to have nine lives since in reality, he is immortal.

A Dragon never needs a nap; naps are for babies and kindergartners.

A Dragon does not care to know who his parents are; except that he does.

A Dragon always has information no one else knows he has; but he also doesn’t have information everyone else has.

Remember to always lock all four car doors when you park and do a 100% check of the back seat before you get in to drive away (don’t ask how I know).

A Dragon is vulnerable around pretty little damsels in pink dresses who tell him dragons are invincible.

It’s OK to drink a Dr. Pepper from a can you open yourself.

A Dragon is untamable.

Hiding in a coffin during daylight does NOT make a dragon a vampire.

Pretending to be respectful, modest and humble can get you the best job in the world.

Thanks so much for your post, Anita and for your hard work compiling your dragon observations!

I admire you for being able to post to the main blog at all. I never could pull it off!

Anita- thank you for your latest Wisdom of the Dragon!

Novelera--I did some recapping back in the day and also provided some comic relief in the form of various merchandising establishments connected to the telenovela we were currently watching.

I also did the post-mortem on Poor Dr. Alvaro Nesme (with apologies to Odiseo Bichir who did a terrific job of being oh, so slimy) in Cuando Me Enamoro.

But, I was rusty and made a mess of it. I had such a nice dragon icon to head it and a dragon-like font for the heading, to go with it.

" Interesting how both Octavio and Victor have "codigos" on who they can or cannot kill."
Mauricio - yes, like "honor among thieves". LOL

Anita - I remember (with great mirth) your merchandising programme. ;-)

Where should I post my Friday recap?

OH! How rude I am. Thanks Jean for the recap. (and thanks to anyone I missed.) It's been a long week. I've barely kept up with shows/recaps/comments this week :-(

Sara

Unless Jean posts a PAGE TWO for this week's Reina, post right here in this thread. Just check before you post, ok?

I am late with my comment but i thought in terms of the conversation between Esmeeth and Nico was interesting. To me it seemed that Nicolas was warning Esmeeth about not telling him the truth. I think he knows and he wants her to tell the truth but she won't. Maybe she thinks he will hate her. But i am figuring she will get shot and we get the mother son scene. I think i am thinking too much.. let me go find my beanie hat and body suit. It matches you know..lol -- Nia

Nia- that same scenario gas crossed my mind, too (Esmeeth getting shot, etc).

Oh wow! PUTZICIDE! And Laz gets blamed!

When Christian is in his cop shop, he and it look like they escaped from a 1940's film noir.

So Navier KNOWS Esmeeth is his mother -- wait... he's faking her out...or is he???

NM - faking or not, this viewer had cara de impactada during that entire commercial break.

Poor Laz. The guy can't get a break.

So this is what I'm thinking when I'm watching these tender love scenes on this show: what is it with the budget of this show that they cannot afford full-size couches? It must be really uncomfortable for the actors to film love scenes on those little couches. Only Victor has a full size couch, which he needs so that he and Octavio can sit at opposite ends.

Yes, I know my mind works in strange ways, but I love the show anyway.

Penny

NovelaMaven: "PUTZICIDE" - LOL

Oh, Penny that's a laugh worth a big LOL. Opposite ends of the couch! I was thinking more on the lines of why not a bed, Navier *does* have one in that apt. *doesn't* he?

I love PUTZICIDE, Novelera.
I'm not sure if Vic intended to frame Laz but except for the fact that what he injected in the Putz's IV was blue, the symptoms didn't seem like the heart attack version of the flu virus. If it was some other drug that Laz could have gotten his hands on as a nurse, then it would be more likely that he was going for a two-fer in getting guys he didn't like away from Greta. I'll amend what I wrote in my recap:
Susana and Juanjo are amateurs, Stefi is a professional and Victor is a psychopath.

and the little couches, Penny! I was wondering why they couldn't make it to his bed to have sex. First the shower and now the small couch - at least they are getting to do it horizontally!

But wasn't Reina supposed to be crazy with worry about Clara being at the house? That was why she was rushing home and then she spends hours at CIA headquarters and hours shagging Navier without a thought for poor Clara who was at the mercy of Big O and Vic.

Penny - LOL! You're so right about the sofas.

Remember the scene, early on, where he and Estefy did it on a pool table? Ack! The floor would have been more comfortable! Maybe he's got a thing for unusual places.

Some of their poses last night, on that love seat, looked very posed *and* uncomfortable. THAT I did notice. And I could swear I saw a VPL under Javier's knit boxers. Maybe it was a jock strap? (snort)

VIERNES PARTE 1
Reina wants to start a new life. Esmeeth will get everything ready for her. Navier interrupts the conversation, but Reina just says she's thanking Esmeeth. Navier notes with irony that Esmeeth is always there at the right moment and her boss must be very proud. He and Reina leave and Rocky comes in. He asks if she's going to say anything to Bolivar. She tells him no and that if he does it will cost him his job.

Laz arrives home. Miriam in the shower. A text from Putz arrives. Laz's cerebral hamsters begin treadmilling.

Estefy admits to being the one that hired the thugs to beat up Putz. No one is going to hurt Greata! Victor overhears and Estefy tells him that Putz was blackmailing Susana and threatening to tell Greata about her real mom. Estefy wanted Putz to understand that you don't mess with her. Victor approves and says he would have done the same...well, he would have done something a little different. He is unable to elaborate since his phone rings and interrupts. It’s Bolivar. We don’t know what he said, but Vic looks serious.

Miriam is out of the shower and she’s not happy with nosy Laz. She tells him Damian is a friend from rehb. Laz is no dummy. He begs her not to get involved with Putzy Trash like the Putz. Miriam concludes that Laz wants to leave her and go off with rich Greata. He can get rich and she can’t. Greata can’t even make love to him! Why Greata and not Miriam? For LOVE, Laz responds.

Izzy at the bridal shop. Connie tells him she’s a modern woman and willing to have a “free” relation with him. He agrees and asks her not to tell anyone about their “free” relationship.

Navier takes Reina to his apartment. Reina asks why they are there. He explains that he called Vic and told him they were giving their statements to Esmeeth. Reina doesn’t like when Navier reports things to Vic as if he were his trusted man. Navier clarifies that he is REINA’s hombre and she is his woman. Doesn’t she think they deserve to be away from all the crazy for just a moment. He’s not afraid of bullets. He’s only afraid of not being able to make love to her forever. Love on a short sofa. Shirtles Navier (drink.)

Laz looks for work. Miriam thinks Laz said he loved Greata just to annoy her. Laz is actually surprised by his feelings, too. Miriam makes the lame “she can’t make love to you” argument. Laz says a woman is more than just a body to him and Miriam doesn’t believe him. She knows he’s an ardent (fogoso) and passionate man. He pushes her away and tells her that thanks to her and the Putz’s shenanigans, he and Greata are kaput.

Greata cries alone. Susana comes in and asks what’s wrong. Greata says she can’t even dry her own tears. Susana asks if she’s crying for Laz. Susana explains that Laz had nothing to do with the beating of the Putz and that Laz is a good guy. Greata doesn’t believe it. No one who gets involved with her has honorable intentions. Who is going to love a paraplegic like her? Susana says everyone deserves a “gran amor”, even Greata.

Big O lights a pipe. Vic enters and asks if he’s responsible for Reina’s accident. Big O asks if Reina is dead. When he hears that she’s not, then he says it wasn’t him. He never fails. He asks Vic to leave him in peace with his pipe and his spirits. Vic tells him that if Big O touches Reina, he will be the one responsible for anything that happens. Big O thinks Leonard Nimoy’s death has made Victor a little snippy and rude. Victor tells his father that Leonard Nimoy told him that Big O had two of the diamonds. Big O laughs and declares that Vic has the third. Estefy blows in and Big O tells them “let’s see which of us the the cleverest and ends up with all four and saves themselves from the curse.”

VIERNES PARTE 2
Posed snuggling on a short couch. She tells him everything she’s doing is because she loves him. He’ll be with her as long as she needs him. Her phone alerts her to a text message: “Death was near, but I had nothing to do with the accident. I’m still waiting to make your life so miserable that you can’t stand it and you kill yourself, Reina ortiz [sic].”

No theme song or opening credits tonight. QTH?

Navier asks who the message is from and doesn’t buy her story about it being from the shop. She finally admits it’s from the killer and it’s NOT Octavio de Rosas. Navier reads the message. According to it Octavio was not responsible for the accident, but she has the news that she received when she was in captivity (en cautiverio). It can’t be anyone else. Reina agrees. It can’t be. Big O is the one who wants to kill her. (Could someone clarify this convo for me? Again, I got the words, but not what they were really saying.) Navier is cara de deep thought. Reina asks what he thinks. He says it doesn’t matter all that matters is what he feels for her. Smooches. All that matters to her is being with him. They will go back to the mansion later and resume the farce, but for now she wants him in front of her nekkid and despojado (just another word for nekkid.) Smooches. Love on a short couch.

Later they return home. Navier goes to the kitchen for coffee. Vic “welcomes” her home. She asks if he knows who’s trying to kill her. No, he doesn’t know, but (and here he grabs her throat) he will be the one wanting to kill her if she keeps treating him with such disdain (desprecio).

Juanjo informs Laz about Estefy’s involvement with Putz’s beatdown. Juanjo comments that Estefy is pretty savage (brava). At first he thought is was Susana’s doing since she’s bien brava as well, but no, it was Estefy. Laz warns Juanjo that they have to watch their step with Putz. He explains that Miriam and Putz are in cahoots and that the Putz is capable of anything. Split conversation….
Putz: I want Laz away from Greata.

Miriam: If you keep giving me what I want, I assure you they will never be together.

Laz: We’ll never be together and I miss her.

Juanjo: She misses you, too! She’s even calling her new nurse Lazaro! Say what you will, but that girl is really in love with you.

Miriam: The idiot is saying he’s in love with her!

Putz: Puh-leeze. Who would fall in love with a paralytic?

Laz: I’ve fallen in love like never before and to be honest, it doesn’t matter to me that she’s in that chair. I was sure I could help her; that I could save her.

Putz: Greata is my only salvation. I have to marry her no matter what. And I have some ideas.

Juanjo: I have some ideas. We definitely have to do something.

VIERNES PARTE 3
Navier enters the kitchen. So does Estefy. Estefy gloms onto him. He worries about Vic seeing them. Estefy couldn’t care less. She was worried about him! He tells her Big O was responsible and confessed to it. Estefy says the man has no limits. Vic comes upon the cozy scene. Estefy tells him that Navier is quite friendly and so able a chofer. Estefy is jealous of Reina. Vic praises Navier for once again saving Reina’s life. On cue, Reina enters. Vic has a great idea. Susana is out, Greata doesn’t want to come down…why don’t the four of them have dinner together? Navier demurs saying it’s not his place. Vic disagrees. Navier is almost like family!

Awkward dinner. With both brothers presiding at each end of the table. Victor brings up Reina’s therapy. He asks Navier if he’s ever been analyzed. Navier says it’s not his style, nor in his budget (presupuesto). Estefy thinks it would be helpful. She can’t imagine that losing 8 years of one’s life is easy. Reina agrees that it’s not. She doesn’t remember what she did, good or bad. Vic proposes a toast: to Reina, the future and their hero: Javier Bolivar. Again, Javier plays the humble servant and says Victor is the true hero for having made his marriage a success for so many years. Javier can’t seem to find relationship success.

Esmeeth meets with the Big O. She wants to tell him face to face that she’ll never tell him who her son is. It doesn’t matter to Big O. He’s got some information: Mexico, the church, a father Mario. Esmeeth reminds him she can make him disappear with just one call. Big O knows she won’t do it because she’s always been so ethical. Unfortunately, he’s not so ethical. He produces a chip. It’s the chip he removed from agent Rocky Balboa. If she doesn’t tell him in 24 hours where his son is, Rocky Balboa will die.
Esmeeth says she can have him arrested for blackmail and extorsion and Big O asks if she has any proof. She says she can take him and make him talk. He knew that so he didn’t let his men tell him where Rocky was. He’s not very resistant to heat and he could say anything. Esmeeth says he’s the worst thing that ever happened to her. Big O says that she’s the best thing that ever happened to him and the only thing he wants is to know his son who is the fruit of the love they shared.

Juanjo brings Susana a bottle of tequila.

Vic brings Putz a syringe of toxins. Putz needs to know that no one messes with Victor’s daughter (I’m with Vivi on this one. The Navier/Camila thing is kind of squicky.)

Big O is back from his date with Esmeeth and Reina is waiting. She wants to know why he wants to kill her. He will tell her why he hates her so much!! (But not yet.)

Esmeeth yells into the phone. She wants to be informed of everything, no matter how insignificant. Navier asks why she needed him so urgently. She tells him that Big O has Rocky. There’s no way to find Rocky because they’ve removed his chip. Big O has his own logistics team and Esmeeth doesn’t know if 24 hours is enough time for her to locate Rocky. She doesn’t want to risk losing Rocky, but she is not going to tell Big O where her son is. Navier asks what she’s waiting for. Why don’t you tell him I’m your son, mom?

VIERNES PARTE 4
Still no theme song. Not. Cool.
Navier wonders why Esmeeth is looking at him with a cara de asusto. He apologizes for using “tú” as well. He was just getting into character. He thought it would be a good idea. The can avoid exposing the other son and Navier can control the situation. He is after all a son of Octavio de Rosas so a DNA test would pass muster. Not to mention he and Esmeeth do sort of favor each other. They are both blonde with light eyes. They did play mother and son on a Televisa TN. It could work. Esmeeth is still stuck on “mom.” Well of course he called her mom. He thought she would catch on immediately. He just wants to save Rocky. He knows she’s not his mom….thank heaven.

Big O has lots of reasons to hate Reina. She drove him crazy. She made him think she was really interested. She asked him for everything and then betrayed him in the worst possible way. She doesn’t believe him. She would never be capable of such a thing. He’s going to prove what lengths he went to for her. He writes some information on a scrap of paper. It’s information to a safe deposit box in her name. Inside she’ll find two red diamonds that he gave her to prove his love.

Vic wakes the Putz up. He tells him he didn’t come to say “hi” or check on him. He came to kill him, because no one messes with his daughter and lives to tell about it. When he gets to hell he can ask the 13 unfortunate soul about it. He was not going to allow Putz and the others to live while his little Camila was dead. Putz struggles to breathe. Vic killed all 13 and with pleasure. The only piece left in the puzzle was the person who filmed and blackmailed Camila. Turns out that was the Putz. The Putz was the one who drove Camila to suicide. He signed his own death sentence.

Juanjo pours a drink for he and Susana. They toast, she goes to down her drink and he stops her. They have to look each other in the eye or they are doomed to 7 years of bad sex. He toasts to the power to confront anything that comes and to 7 years of good sex. He complains about the dull music. He music choice explains her bitter attitude. He fires up some salsa. He’s got some pretty good moves.

Reina still doesn’t believe a word Big O has to say. What was he expecting from her with this “payment.”? Her body! Her love! He was willing to do anything for her!!! He was willing to send his son to jail for her!!! He leaves and Estefy emerges from the kitchen (?). Seems to her that Reina has some secrets with Octavio de Rosas. Reina tells her not to meddle. Estefy tells her that it was Reina who meddled in HER life. Reina was the one that messed with her man. Estefy makes it clear that Navier may dabble with Reina, but he will always return to Estefy. Octavio overhears. He asks them if his son (Vic) is aware that the two of them are both fighting for Javier Bolivar.

VIERNES PARTE 5
Putz continues to struggle to breathe. Like a good villain, Vic monologues. He wished he had more time to plan Putz’s death in detail. He had that pleasure with the other 13. Now the Putz is doing to writhe in pain. Maybe that way he’ll regret what he did to Camila and to Greata, the only daughter that Vic has left. He leaves the nurse’s call button, but Damian is paralyzed. Victor takes a long look at him. He wants his face to be the last thing the Putz sees before he heads to hell. Laz does not notice Vic at the water cooler as he enters the Putz’s room. He sees the Putz in distress and calls for a doctor.

Navier tells Esmeeth they need to make a decision. Esmeeth doesn’t want to go with Navier’s plan. There are other ways to recover Rocky. Navier reminds her his plan is the fastest. He can lie. He can pretend she is his mom; that she cared for him; that is was just them against the world; that she never missed a birthday or school year. Esmeeth can lie too. She still refuses. Navier wants to know why. Is it because it was his idea, or is there something else? She says she gives the orders. Navier thinks she acts more like a mom than a boss.

Juanjo and Susana salsa. She confesses she wanted to be a classical ballerina, she had a chance to study abroad when she was 18, but then she met Victor and her life changed. Laz calls and informs Juanjo of the death of the Putz. Juanjo informs Susana.

Cristian asks Laz to come with him.

Estefy watches over Greata. Victor arrives and tells her that the Putz is dead (sung to the tune of “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead.”) He will never hurt their daughter again. Estefy asks if he suffered. Vic assures her he suffered a lot. This brings a smile to Estefy’s face (and I I can’t help but smile whenever these two have scenes together. Snap, crackle and pop indeed!) Vic thinks they would have made a great pair, but Estefy says that’s a thing of the past. For now it’s best to just talk about the only pure thing they have: Greata.

Navier enters the kitchen where Asuncion is having tea. She asks how he knew she was Reina’s mom. He won’t tell her, but he won’t reveal the truth to Reina either. He thinks that is for Asuncion to tell. She tells him how she did tell Reina the day before the accident and that Reina forgot. Again on cue, Reina enters. She needs to tell Navier something important. She tells him about Big O overhearing her conversation with Estefy. Navier says he’ll take care of the Big O (erm....the human one.) He gives her a quick hug and goes to leave, but he turns and asks what else she was going to say. She say he reads her thoughts (as good Dragons will do.) He can see everything in her face. He knows her, smells her (ISBIS) and sees her as if she were nude in front of him.

Connie arrives at the police station. Laz called her. What’s going on? Cristian informs her that Laz is accused of Putzicide.

Susana comes to Greata’s room and tells Estefy that Putz is dead. Estefy acts surprised. Susana asks if Estefy feels gulty. Estefy says nope. He didn’t die from the beating. Someone gave him the death he deserved and it wasn’t her.

The Big O creeps into Navier’s room. He has a gun, but Navier is just as fast. He has a gun, too. “What do you have that makes everyone fall in love with you, Javier Bolivar?” (Um, smoking hot bod, glorious hair? Seriously, O. Have you looked in mirror?) “Maybe it’s your blood, Sr. De Rosas…because I’m your son.!”

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!
