Hasta El Fin Del Mundo #26 9/22/14 There's Something about Chava...

Yikes! It's officially Autumn! The captions on this episode were lagging behind so I'm not sure of some of the dialogue, especially the dinner scene. If I made any mistakes please feel free to fill in or correct in the comments. On to the recap!

From Friday:
Marisol and Lucas meet in the break room.
Chava and Sofia arrive at the racetrack.

New:
Chava tells Sofia how much he loves the passion, speed, and adrenaline rush of the racetrack. She loves it too! He introduces her to his friend Tato. Tato jokes that he thought Chava forgot about his racing buddies at the track and, looking at Sofia, he can see why. Chava corrects him, Sofia is his boss.

Tato is having a mechanical problem with his car and wants Chava to take it out on the track for a few laps to see if he can figure out what's wrong. Chava will do it of course, if it's okay with Sofia. She urges him to go, she'd like to see him drive.

At the Ripoll house, Dani and her girlfriend talk about Lucas. Sofia doesn't know about Dani's relationship with Lucas, and Lucas doesn't know that Sofia is Dani's sister. Right now that's the way Dani wants things to stay.

Lucas and Marisol talk about her problems in the break room. Lupe' doesn't want Marisol to get to know her dad because he's a dirtbag. Lucas doesn't have any memories of his father. Marisol realizes his dad is dead, then asks about his mother. He quickly changes the subject. They need to get back to work.

Sofia watches Chava take the car around the track. Tato says Chava is a great driver. She appreciates just how good he is.

Irma is being "interviewed" by Renzi. While he fiddles with the remote control the TV screen runs a slide show of girls in bikinis. Irma comments on the pictures. Renzi tells her the pictures belong to his cousin. He puts up a slide with a map of the neighborhood. Irma asks, "What does your company want the lots for?"

Paco grumbles as he paints the outside of his store. (I'm not even sure what this scene was about or why it was even included.)

Back at the track Tato shows Sofia a chart with Chava's lap times. She is impressed. Chava pulls up just under the bridge and does donuts with the car.

She loves me... She loves me not... She loves me...

Renzi says that the neighborhood has potential for building offices. Irma seems skeptical of that idea but she knows the neighborhood and the people in it; she can help his company buy the lots more quickly. Renzi can't offer her a salary, but can offer her a commission on the sales. Looks like Irma's got the job.

Irma displays her assets.

Renzi knows talent when he sees it.

Chava pulls up and gets out of the car. Sofia yells, "That was fantastic, Salvador!" Chava tells Tato he thinks the problem with the car is in one of the bearings. Tato will put a mechanic on it right away. Chava thinks Sofia should take a spin. It would help her get over her fear of driving. She shakes her head and laughs, "No thanks. But I've learned just how good a driver you really are."

Fausto brings Greta a tea tray and she asks about Sofia. He shrugs. Sofia told him she was going "to the end of the world". Fausto isn't sure where that is - maybe a restaurant, maybe a mall. Meanwhile, Sofia and Chava pull up in the driveway. She gets out before he can make it around the car. "Salvador, thanks for inviting me to go with you." He smiles, "I was happy to take you. Whenever you want to go back to the track, I'll take you." They smile at each other. Sofia extends her hand, "It's an honor to have you working for us." She runs to the house and waves. He leans against the car and grins. "Patience, persistence and a little good luck!"

Yes it was fun, but you can let go now.

Lucas walks Marisol home. Chava comes around the corner and sees them together. "What's going on Lucas?" He tells Marisol that Lucas is the grandson of the Ripoll's cook. Marisol explains to Lucas that Chava is her brother. After an awkward "I don't want you around my sister" moment Lucas leaves. Marisol gets in a huff.  Who does Chava think he is? Her bodyguard or something?

Lupe confronts Marisol for lying about her job. "You told me you worked in the office, but you're working as a laborer on the line." Lupe wants Marisol to quit her job and focus on her education. Marisol asks Lupe', "What's wrong with working on the line? It's an honest job." She thinks Lupe' should give her a chance to prove that she can work and not neglect her education.

Lucas goes to the factory and tells Matias that he took Marisol home. Matias is okay with that, they're bros now. They fist bump.

Chava asks Marisol if Lucas is her boyfriend. She'd like him to be, but for now they're just co-workers. Lupe' overhears the conversation. She comes in and together they tell Chava about the sandwich incident at the factory. They laugh about it and kiss and make up. Marisol leaves and Lupe' tells Chava she went there to apologize to Marisol after arguing with her about Javier Cruz. Chava fumes.

I was having such a great day
until you mentioned that dirtbag.

Pato and Renzi talk about getting a DNA sample from the cadaver for Dr. Henderson. Pato warns Renzi to be very, very careful. Renzi tells Pato he's found someone to help them buy up property in the neighborhood. They just need to pay her a commission. Pato tells Renzi, "Don't mention my name."

Here's to all the things we love!
Deception, money and spray tans!

Sofia is in the study when Alexa comes in looking for her paycheck. Sofia tells her the check is ready and wants to talk but it turns into another argument. Alexa won't talk to Sofia about anything but money. She storms out. Fausto comes in cautiously and hands Sofia a small bag. She puts it aside. She tells Fausto that good manners demand that she put on a happy face. She takes a few deep breaths and heads downstairs to dinner.

Irma's got great news. She got a job with the guy who is buying the house! She's going to make fat commissions! Armie didn't even know she was going for an interview. Irma tells them that very soon their lives are going to change forever. Armie hopes it will be for the better. Irma gets up and hugs them both.

Our house was just the beginning.
Wait until I sell out the entire neighborhood!

At the dinner table, Sofia tells Alan the food is delicious. He is so talented in the kitchen, why isn't he a chef? It's because cooking is just one of his interests. Sofia asks about the films he's worked on. He's done art films. As a matter of fact, Alexa will be in the next one! Hasn't she told you about it? Alexa looks very uncomfortable, "No, I haven't had the opportunity." She stares at Sofia.

 You just watch!
My low-budget art film will make her famous!

Chava is worried that Marisol will seek out their father, get her hopes up and Javier will disappoint her. They both agree that they need to be there for Marisol when he does.

Alan says the film will be a love story between a woman from Pamploma and a motorcyclist. Luke Besson will direct. Greta is thrilled. He says Alexa hasn't seen the script yet. He mentions the Ripoll Girl. Sofia thinks the publicity could tie in with Ripoll's advertising in Europe. Alexa gets angry. Greta stands up, "There will be no arguing during dinner!" Dani excuses herself.

Two men are digging up Octavio's grave as Pato and Renzi watch. Renzi has some jokes he could tell, but Pato has no sense of humor. He just wants to get the sample and get out. Pato tells Renzi to make sure the gravediggers clean things up. He doesn't want anyone to notice the grave has been disturbed.

I'll bet just the right noise could make them wet their pants.

Dani sneaks into Greta's studio and knocks over a teacup looking for her cell phone. She calls Lucas. He's happy to hear from her. He assures Dani that his life of crime is behind him. She hears someone coming. She has to go! She tells him she loves him and hangs up.

Back at the dinner table Greta asks Aurora to have Fausto bring her half a tranquilizer.

Dani hides in the corner as the studio door opens. It's Fausto. He knew he'd find her here. Just like a moth goes to a bright light, she'd go for her cell phone.

 Dani is B-U-S-T-E-D.

Fausto tries to cook up a scheme to cover for Dani's absence from the table. She hugs him and apologizes for treating him so bad. Dani goes back downstairs and as usual, Fausto cleans up her mess.

In the car the next morning, Chava tells Sofia that he took Greta and Dani to the school. Sofia tells him she enjoyed going to the racetrack. She takes a CD from the small bag Fausto gave her and gives it to Chava to play. It's ranchero music. As they drive along and listen they sneak peeks at each other in the rear view mirror.

Oh no. It's the William Shatner version of "I'm too Sexy".

Nando asks Armie if he will have to go to a different school when they move. Armie tries to reassure him that he'll still have his friends. They have to leave for school. Nando goes to kiss Irma good-bye. Armie sits at the table and thinks about how much he will miss his house.

I wonder if I'd miss Irma as much as I'll miss this house?

Greta wants the headmistress to allow Dani back in school. The headmistress says they've had too many discipline problems with Dani. Well... in that case that big donation the Ripoll family gives the school ain't happenin' this year. The headmistress backpedals, "Maybe we were too severe. We put too much weight on what the other students said."

Of course we'll welcome your check  daughter back.

Dani listens to all this and gets furious. "You'll allow a teacher to discriminate and not do anything about it? Money is the only thing that matters to this school!" She slams her student ID down on the desk and leaves.

Alexa comes out of the shower to find Alan in her bedroom working on a laptop. She orders him to get out, she doesn't want Greta to find him in her room. Alan tells her he's created a fake e-mail account for Luke Besson. That way Alan can send Alexa a script and it looks like it came from the director. "Alan, you really have no limits, do you?" He starts groping her but she wrenches herself away. He laughs, "Look! You got an e-mail!" She orders him out and this time he goes. She asks herself, "When are you going to stop lying, Alexa?"

Alexa has it all. Panic attacks and a creepy moocher boyfriend.

Chava parks the car at the curb. He opens the door for Sofia who says, "I thought the music was beautiful." He takes her hand and as she is getting out of the car she falls... right into his arms.

 Will there be besos?

Xint, what a clever title. Yes, there is something real, sweet and very appealing about our unassuming galan.

Your screen shots were superior and your captions were spot on and just plain awesome: "Renzi knows talent when he sees it"; " and Yes it was fun, but you can let go now"; "Here's to all the things we love! Deception, money and spray tans!". My favorite was "Our house was just the beginning. Wait until I sell out the entire neighborhood!" was my favorite.

It was nice to see Sophia so alive. She was vibrant and beaming watching Chava racing. I believe it's the most emotion we've seen from her to date. She truly looked happy. She surely suspects the cause...

Irma is so blinded by her relentless quest for needless things, she is willing to "sell out" and now will ask her friends and neighbors to do the same. I hope she fends Renzi off, I have a feeling he does not intend to keep his distance.

Why on earth would Alan consider being a chef? Or having any respecable career? He can easily mooch off others, including his golden goose Alexa, charming (gag) his way around all the women in his orbit.

Thank heavens for Fausto, who manages to keep everything together. Dani should thank her lucky stars...

Between Alan's scheming and Irma's new "career", bad things are brweing.

Hope we have a little more Matias tonight...

Xint, this was incredible. Thank you!

Diana

Xlnt, thanks for the wonderful recap. I loved the "William Shatner" song reference. Another one of my faves! I also agree with Diana that the title was right on.

My favorite part was the dinner when Sofía asked creepy Alan what movies he had been in which led to "art" films, his movie in post production, movie part for Alexa, Luc Besson, blah, blah, blah. The look between the sisters showed Sofía knew it was all bull and Alexa knew she knew.

It was nice hearing a little Javier Solís.

XINT:

This was fabulous, simply fabulous! I too loved the William Shatner song reference about "I'm Too Sexy" it had me rolling. The title is clever as Diana said.

I think someone is going to find Octavio's grave disturbed. Fausto and Greta have got some work to do. Thank you about what Pato said about Ocatavio from Friday's recap. I never thought Pato would be fool enough to dig up Octavio.

As far as Renzi goes, wait until Paco gets a whiff of what is going on. He'll have her butt. Plus those dancing ladies from Lupe's class are firmly behind Paco as is Lupe. She doesn't want to lose her home. I may be wrong but Irma may not have the success she thinks she'll get.

Pato is such a fool, I know in the beginning Greta mummerred that line about Sofia never forgiving her, but I have my crack pot theory that Sofia may just be a Ripoll. We'll have to see.

Thanks again XINT for this very sparkling recap.

Great recap, Cathy! I look forward to catching up on these episodes next weekend. Thank for the screen pics. Sofia looks so cute and relaxed in her jeans. I was hoping as a result of seeing him in action on the track, Sofia would offer Ripoll as his sponsor so that he can get back to racing. Sure, she'd lose him as her driver, but she would have plenty of reasons to head out to the track to check on her investment. :)

I just checked the ratings for Hasta and they have the ratings for the week of September 16th. 3.1 Million are watching this TN. I know people are out there, maybe we have a lot more lurkers than commenters. So if you are lurking, please comment.

Also I got the ratings from TV By the Numbers at Zap2it.

xlnt - Terrific recap, pics, and captions. Your snark on Pato and Renzi are my favorites:

Here's to all the things we love! Deception, money and spray tans!

I'll bet just the right noise could make them wet their pants.

I didn't realize before that Armando's home was once his parents'. That adds to his sadness about selling it.

Surprised at Greta believing Alan's lie about Luc Besson, but maybe she was just pretending while she checks out Alan.

I do not want to see two nice girls fighting over Lucas. Writers, please bring in somebody for Marisol.

They dig up a finely manicured gravesite and no one will notice cause they put the soil back perfectly in place. Puhleeze!

Madelaine, you must have read my mind.

The recaps here are so splendid, I really hope many are having the opportunity to read and savor these, not just the few that are commenting.

Yes, the recappers and other commenters would love to hear from others who haven't quite taken that first step.

You can sign your real name or sign a nickname or simply use whatever name you'd like. Even if it is just to say thank you to the recappers, any and all comments would be appreciated.

The numbers sound good Madelaine. This and LM are such excellent shows, hope the ratings continue to climb. These shows deserve them.

Diana

From the words of Scandal's Rowan Pope: Chava is a door marked exit.

Niece:

You and are on the same page abut Octavio's gravesite. I would laugh if this cemetery had cameras! Caught red handed in the act, but this is a TN.

XINt:

I loved the line about spray tans, lol. I guess it's because we won't be able to miss them, lol.

Patrick is awesome! He is a great villian. Who digs up a grave?

Remzi is also hilarious! "Those girls are my cousins"!

Hello all, I'm just posting to let you know that I'm a faithful reader of both the recaps and all the wonderful comments too. Thank you, everyone for the daily fun!!

Barbara in San Anselmo

Barbara, so nice to hear from you.

Glad you are here and appreciate your posting.

Diana

Dear Xint,

Thanks for a fantastic, detailed, and well-written recap with great screenshots and REALLY funny captions! I loved them. My favorite line was "Here's to all the things we love! Deception, money and spray tans!" and I also had a big laugh at the "She loves me, she loves me not, she loves me" donuts.

I have been watching this TN as much as I can. I started mostly because it was in the 9 o'clock time slot, and I had very low expectations, but I really enjoy it when I see it. The galán has won me over and seems sweet and real, and Marjorie de Sousa is very good, too. It's the opposite feeling I had with Lo Que La Vida Me Robó which I began with high expectations and in which I often felt disappointed.

Thanks again, Xint! It was a pleasure to read this wonderful recap.
Best to you and all,
Julia R.

Urban:

I forgot to thank you for a fantastically entertaining recap. I continue to love your screen shots.

Since it appears that Leon will end up with Fanny, how do you guys think he will redeem himself?

Some of you think his lying to Fanny is unpardonable.

Welcome Barbara! So nice to have you commenting here. I hope you'll continue to share your thoughts with us. This is a great group!

Julia, it's good to see you here too! I am really, really liking this TN. The relationship between Sofia and Chava is building at just the right pace. I hope This TN continues this way and doesn't get silly or depressing or mean as so many others do.

I'm with you Cynderella. Pato is a good villain! Instead of chasing the living for DNA, he's going right to the source. Gotta hand it to him, it's creepy but effective.

I was laughing so hard at "Our house was just the beggining ,just wait until i sell the entire neibhourhood " !
Irma is so greedy and i love the characters. The villians have much more personality and are not as annoying as Pedro Medina or Maria Zamudio.I like the fact that it is not just a love drama but it is more based on reality,Robo was awful at potraying reality and it was really only about Boring Love Triangles and Narcodrama...
