Mi corazon es tuyo #48... FINALLY Nico and Jen get engaged!!... and some more 'near miss' scenes of Ana and Fer... Fernando as the tooth fairy... and Diego moves into Reeky's building

Refritos:

Isa arrives home, tells YoMama went to OBGYN alone. There is something you don’t know. / what did you do?

Reeky and Fanny at lunch… he digs into her phone calls and what happened with Leon and Fernando, never seen my dad that angry.

Isa tells YoMama the worst news she could hear… ‘I don’t know who’s my baby daddy’ / ‘NO!! … NO!!’

Lo Nuevo:

Reeky surprised Leon was just a messenger… no wonder your dad was angry… / it was not about that. It turned out Leon was married and has a child…

Said Leon is getting the ashes of his ex… he is still upset… he is signing up for a payment plan to pay for her cremation… (the loan term is for six months, a very short time for someone currently unemployed)

Fanny says really what makes me upset is to think of Mau, Leon’s son. I know what it feels like to lose your mother. Saw the painting at my house? My mom was a beautiful person inside and out. Reeky (I am sure it is a lie) says his mom died too, and his dad is ill, had an embolism (embolia). He was my partner, my friend, my hero… and now he can’t even talk… (wow, good acting from this jerk)

Yomama calls Isa a cynic… Isa brushes it off to YoMama as ‘'asi es la vida' (that's life). YoMama asks ‘then why did you split your legs (aflojaste) for him??' Isa replies it was a few days before and a few days after the weekend at Malinalco with Fernando. YoMama is more and more upset the more she hears. ‘I feel like a piano just fell over me.. No! .. No!’ She wants a triple Margarita from the waiter. YoMama gets even more scared when she learns Reeky knows about Isa's pregnancy. 'Then why did you recommend him to Fernando as your replacement'  'What do you mean why?? Because Reeky knows about our plan!!' … 'No, no.. no manches (don’t tell me).'  'What plan?? (as in DUH!) The plan to strip Fernando dry of his money! (to sum the rest up, YoMama ends up pulling on Isa’s ear… 'Reeky could be our demise… if Fer finds out, we won’t end on the street, we will end up… and I will lose this great(tan rica) bed!.. Waiter!!'.

The twins and Luz are helping Ana finish the dress… the twins say it still does not look like a princess. Ana asks then what do we do? Luz suggests a crown/tiara… they all jump for joy at the idea.

Ana goes to talk to Fanny… how is your heart? Fanny says she feels she will never be able to put the pieces back together. Ana gives her some encouragement… she has a very good glue (gives her a big hug)… pega cachitos del Corazon (a glue specifically to put a heart back together)… muy apachurrante (very squeezy) (Ana gives Fanny a very nice strong hug of support and then whispers in her ear… ' Time always heals… when you feel sad and sensible, you have your BFF-Nana… or the Nana-BFF… a confident who will be with you always.. love ya'   (AWWWWW... she has nothing to envy of any real mom there... Ana, don't change anything when you become her real 'new mom' as Luz said)

Leon tells Margarita he plans to move far away with Mau… she says you don’t have to run away to start over. Leon says Mau is his responsibility. It is not fair for you. Why does this happen to me? Just when I had found everything I dreamed of. I was happy with Fanny… and just overnight I lost everything. Marg says you were always sure of yourself. You have a great opportunity to see your kid grow and to find love again. Yeah mama.. but I screwed up BIG TIME… and it is all my fault. AND why do you have a mother if not to support you?.... please, I have to solve all this myself. … Know why I named you León? when you were born you were very fragile and weak, the doctor and I thought we would lose you… but you fought for your life… as a lion! I love you and I will care for you until my last breath. (hugs him, he is still crying, and please, writers, don't let this be a premonition)

Fernando is again helping Sebas with homework. Sebas passes the oral quiz with perfect score (who knew we could learn from tns?...i learned out how far back history goes ... 3K yrs before Christ, when first documents were 'written') and gets a kiss from dad. Then Isa comes in to spoil the moment. Sebas sighs disgusted at even her presence. Isa tells Fernando she is heading out to meet friends.. for a coffee.. Fernando does not seem to like the idea of her drinking coffee… she says my friends will have coffee, I will ‘eat for two’. Then she fakes a nice goodbye to Sebas.

Fernando talks to Sebas about his attitude toward Isa.

F: It is not her fault.

S: Sure. It is YOUR fault, for getting her pregnant.

F: Sebas, things happen. I mean… ‘lo cortes no quita lo valiente’ (being courteous does not make you look weak) could you be a bit more polite/educated with Isa? It does not take anything away and makes you look like a gentleman. (Sebas not so convinced)

At hallway Ana and Isa have a very brief ‘no friends here’ greeting.

Ana comes to homework room to get Sebas. Sebas and Ana do a fist to fist, hip to hip ‘a lo que te truje… chencha’ greeting skid which puts a very funny facial expression on Fernando.

Of course Isa ended up at Reeky’s place…. And they get to chaka chaka even faster than he did with Betty.

At library room, Nico, Ana and all the kids review the plan for the proposal at last minute. Nando notes he is very nervous. Ana assures Nico Jenn will say yes. The twins say if not, will shoot her with cold water. Ana warns not to. Nico can’t even find the ring… ok, here it is. The door bell rings and Ana and some kids scream excited.

Nico goes to fetch Jennifer… Ana and the kids do the ‘all for one, one for all’ (in Spanish it is reversed)

Bruno opens the door for Jennifer, she is nervous when greeting Fernando, not sure what she was there for. Bruno escorts her… As they leave, we see Fernando grab his hands hard as in wishing it to go well.

There are red roses, candles, petals on floor… Bruno tells Jenn that each detail was done with her in mind. They will even record it on video. Very romantic dinner table for two… with a sign on the table reading ‘the woman of my life’ and another one ‘the fortunate one’. She is totally delighted. Bruno pops the champagne. Madmoiselle… excuse moi… he serves them… they toast for themselves.

Fernando finds all the kids and Ana quietly moving around… he almost spoils the surprise. He is standing by Ana when Manuela goes fast by them and pushes Fernando right into Ana’s face. Their lips touch, and instantly they both roll their eyes and their faces away from each other… (ok, how many of these moments will we get in the next 78 episodes before they can do anything else?) they both go SHHHH!!

Manuela brings the first course to Jenn and Nico… the lovebirds keep smiling at each other…

Fanny notices Nando is tap dancing (we hear the tune of ‘jarabe tapatio’) on one tile. Nando tells Fanny he never participated in a surprise like this. 'Not my thing…' 'Get used to it because when you are in love you do all kinds of crazy things…'

Nico tells Jen he will now have 7 witnesses.. for what?... Nico summons for the witnesses.

As the kids leave when Ana gives the order ‘al ataque!’, Fernando grabs Ana and asks if it was her idea… ‘how did you guess?’ Fernando runs after Ana who ran after the kids… Once the kids are there and they greet Jenny, Nico opens the ring box, gets on his knee and tells Jenn 'I love you with each one of my gray hairs… with all my soul and my body … and there is a phrase … (he winks as the signal) that I need to shout to you…' (the kids spell out ‘Casate’ and then ‘Conmigo’, of course not perfectly, the twins had a couple letters backwards at first… too funny). Jenn goes from worried to sooo moved she went to tears… but still smiled. ‘me pusiste a chillar’ (you got me crying)… Ana and Fernando are to one side wall, also moved. Jen remembers a happy moment with Nico, their kiss at the club when she had the bright blue wig. … when we come back from commercial, we hear her response… ‘si mi amor’ (Phew!! I thought we would break the record of rejected marriage proposals in the first 50 episodes of a novela… EVER!!!.. then again, maybe we already did) everyone is dancing and jumping for joy… Ana instinctively turns around and hugs Fernando, who is at first surprised but then gives into the hug and enjoys it thoroughly. Nico puts the ring on her… Ana and Fer are still hugging in the background… finally they let go, smirking a smile to each other before again looking in different directions.

Reeky and Isa… someone is ringing the bell. ‘you waiting on someone? / No’ it is Betty again. He puts his arm across the door frame to not let her in. She asks why he won’t let her in. She suspects Reeky is with Fanny and it takes him a while to get her to leave. I won’t go into too much detail, I hate to see a woman humiliate herself that far.. for ANY man. But I have to say Isa learns that Betty and Reeky slept together last night… and that it was sort of a reunion after 20 yrs. And that he is pursuing Fanny at the office. Betty protests: ‘She’s just a girl!, she could be your kid!’. Reeky yells at her 'I have nothing to do with Fanny!'

After Betty leaves, Isa confronts Reeky about pursuing Fanny. She never thought that was his intention when he asked her to ask Fernando that Fanny work with him. 'She is Fernando’s kid and she is only 19. You are a filth… besides, you broke the 5th rate secretary’s heart. At least the secretary knows what is good.' (you think? YUCK!!)

Nico promises Jenny he will dedicate his life to make her happy. Nico welcomes her to this beautiful (and dysfunctional, I would say) family. He suggests that Nando recite something … Nando mentions a phrase from Pascal… ‘love has no age… it is always being born’. (Fer and Ana share a stare) Nico and Jenny share a kiss. ‘Now THAT is a wise guy’, points Ana. Jenny calls Nico her (not sure, sort of  cuchi-cito) …

Diego gets the keys to his apartment… (NO WAY!!! Turns out to be across the hall from… wait for it… wait for it… REEKY!!!  ...and how do we know? we can hear the opera song while the scene is still with Diego at halway, then we see that Isa and Reeky are listening to the Italian opera.!!)

Reeky tells Isa he noticed last night that she is really in love with Fer.

Said Fer is reading a story (or coming up with it as he goes) to Luz about a girl who was about to lose her tooth but it would not fall finally. "She was getting impatient. And she was wondering if cats eat mice, who would come to get her tooth? (Luz mentioned they have no mice, but Fer said we have a ferret.) She kept on trying to push the tooth with her tongue. One day the tooth finally fell. She was licking a lollipop. That night she put the tooth under her pillow." Smart Luz argues that she has already lost two teeth and never got a visit from mice. Fer says the mice had a tough year ( still bailing u'rself out, hah, wimp?, even Ana rolls her eyes in hallway where she is eavesdropping with the twins)… but now that tooth will fall… and according to the story, the mice will leave you a prize under the pillow… You have to be patient. Now sleepy time.
Instinctively he calls her ‘mi corazon’ and she notes it is the same way Ana calls her… He says yup… ‘y me encanta’ (which in English could mean I love it or I love him/her). Smart Luz again wants to believe he was referring to Ana… she asks him. He says ‘I mean I love that she calls you mi Corazon!’

On his way out, he notices Alicia is looking at something on her tablet… She tells him she is looking at limos for her birthday… he does not love the idea, but says the limo is ‘super cool’ when she suggests a helicopter as alternate. (Ana and the twins have been watching and listening to his whole visit to the girls room)

when he comes out, Ana sort of sarcastically asks Fernando if it is true what he said about patience. /Yup its true. Why?/ Nothing… (she sends the twins to bed after telling them she can read their mind [as in they are scheeming something]), as they leave, Fernando yells ‘I love you sons’ to them, they respond in kind. Fernando asks Ana if she can also read his mind. She says no. my powers are not that powerful, excuse the redundancy (except she said rebuznancia instead of redundancia, hmmm new Ana-ism?) … they stare at each other, both with teary eyes… then he says maybe it is (hard for her to read his mind) because there are many things in his mind. Me too, she says. Ah yeah? (gets close to her) What are you thinking about now? (she runs off with excuse of getting tea and YOUR WIFE [she did not stress it but used the exact words] is about to come home) he closes his eyes and looks very sad now.

Isa and Reeky still in his apt listening to the opera. She is arguing she was just acting… she had to convince Fer to marry her…. Not only with the pregnancy but also had to convince him of her love. How does that affect you? In no way. Isa curious as to why he wanted to work precisely with Fernando… what are you after? Reeky claims she got her prize, to marry a millionaire. They clear up that Reeky does not trust her. Isa is sure that, whatever it is, has to do directly with Fanny, since he was so insisting in getting her to ask Fernando to get Fanny to work with Reeky. Reeky rests on the ‘curiosity killed the cat’ freedom card. She says it don’t matter, it was great for me that you replaced me at the VP spot. She has to go (the 'coffee with the girlfriends' outing is taking long). As she leaves to bedroom, he tells himself ‘if you only knew the truth’.

At her room, Fanny looks at photos of Leon in her tablet… wonders why he betrayed her and broke her heart… right as she turns off the light and lays in bed she gets a message from Leon: ‘I miss you, Bonita, and I love you more than ever’. She puts the phone down and cries on her pillow.

Downstairs in main room
Fer: Ana, I know I have no right to ask, but I would like to know if all this you have in your mind has to do with Diego.
A: Ah yeah, you have a right… (he is floored momentarily) no, you have no right. Excuse me. Here is your tea in case that is why you followed me. (again he blows as if trying to get over that new blow from her) (you give some and you take some, dear wimpy guy)

The twins are helping Luz to tie thread to her tooth to try to get it out. Alicia does not think it will work. They brought a piece of cheese form the kitchen for the mice. Alicia worries it won’t work… but it does!!

Ana comes in and works with the kids to put the tooth under the pillow and the cheese under the bed. But she can't resist getting a bite of the cheese in her hands... Ana likes how the cheese tastes… (asks herself 'this came from the fridge?' as in maybe she should remember that later on)

Isa leaves and barely misses Diego who was coming in to his apartment. He did not see her, but she did not see him either. He calls Ana and tells her he is about to head to the house, was just signing the lease papers. (seems they have plans to go out, she is dressed up waiting for him, maybe to go see Johnny with Nico/Jen?)

Ana and Fernando run into each other at hallway… she has to leave but will leave something for the mice… Fernando will take care of it… he reviews the list for her... tooth under pillow, cheese under the bed… give it a bite… got it.
You alright?../ Yeah, given the way things are (en lo que cabe)… she starts to say ‘no se me ach…’ (don't get... on me) but then changes and again comes up with another of her slangs ‘ay nos vidrios’ which means (see ya later). She keeps trying to correct herself with more ‘proper’ language…  sequence about 'sure' vs 'shur' vs 'shor' vs her translating 'short' ...so much that he is left a bit dizzy trying to keep up with her wordplay.

Fernando follows Ana’s direction… he too likes the cheese… (this is too cute, he stepped in tippy toed, as if stepping on egg shells, feeling under the pillow for the tooth, and holding it with so much love)

Nico and Jenny are heading to the Chicago to see Johnny’s show. Isa comes in and insults Jenny as ‘5th rate waiter’. Nico defends Jenny announcing to Isa that Jenny is now his fiancée… Isa forcefully apologizes… Isa goes upstairs, smirking with her face…
Jen: I can’t swallow her…
Nic: that makes two of us… or rather… two hundred. She is so annoying. (but she won't touch you)
They head out the door and Isa is still throwing insults through her teeth… the vulgar waiter, my FIL fiancée… this world is worse each day… que asco!!

Johnny is very nervous at club, asking folks to set up lighting, etc… he prays that it will go well this time.

Fernando in his room remembers Ana hugging him earlier, Bruno tells him 'have not seen you smile like that since you all came home from the zoo… (Fernando asks if he refers to catching Bruno and Manuela in kitchen) ... you know i am not talking about that... you had recovered your joy… the joy you had lost when Mrs Fanny left us… the joy Ana brought you… and what is life without joy, Don Fernando? If I may be honest… (Fer recons him as his only friend, Bruno thanks him for his deference [respect, consideration]) have not seen you smile even once with Isa… you still love Ana, right?
Fer: Absolutely, Bruno… I still love Ana with all my heart. (Isa has heard this as she was about to enter the room)

Previews: Diego messages Ana some arrangement that he will knock the door and kiss her… Door knocks.. Ana comes out with eyes closed to kiss… .Fernando!! Luz and Diego see it… later, Isa confronts Fernando about the kiss with Ana.

Wow!! What an episode!! Loved it. Very little YoMama and Johny on screen.. YAY!!

" Wow!! What an episode!! Loved it. Very little YoMama and Johny on screen.. YAY!!"

Couldn't agree more. Enjoyed your recap immensely Marta. You really captured the tender, the sweet and the disgusting brilliantly.

Everything about the engagement was sweet. The kids are so important to Nico and including them, which was a great way to make sure Jen sees that everyone ( and his son) is excited to bring her into the family, was wonderful. Made it all the more impactful when Isabitch came in with her attitude.

Could have done without the Fer/Ana hug, the moment in the hall, etc. We get it, don't have to drum it over our heads every episode. Sure there will be awkward moments, but it seems the writers are trying to build a case and remind us way too often these two are meant to be. We've seen the opening credits guys.

So now I'm a bit intrigued as to what Smarmy is up to. (And I like opera, but gees man, tune it down!) I'm not so sure the bit about his father might be fabricated. What if he suffered a stroke from stress/illness over bad business dealings caused by Fer or Nico, or both. Not sure how Fanny plays into it....I'm still hoping that Fanny Sr. doesn't play into this too. Taking the daughter because he was in love with the mother? That would be a big NO!!

But the fact Isa isn't into his scheme? Interesting neither one knows that maybe the goal is to take everything away from Fer, which means Smarmy/Reeky would be ruining Isa's plan too to walk away with everything. When she finds out....

Can we get this birthday party over because I'm convinced I'm going to hate it. But I loved the tooth fairy scene. My dad use to do the same thing with the sneaking into the room. Always heard him come in, but didn't wake up to ruin it for him.

I think the "kiss" will be a non-event since Ana can explain to Diego, but I do think it will be the catalyst to have Isa insist that Ana move out, and maybe even Ana agree all this has to stop. Couldn't agree more...

Marta, this was a real treat. You deftly involve your readers with enticing tidbits including "Reeky rests on the ‘curiosity killed the cat’ freedom card".

Your recap was charming and captivating.

Your embedded vocabulary “lo cortes no quita lo valiente’ (being courteous does not make you look weak)” is greatly appreciated. I love learning new things including” Ana and the kids do the ‘all for one, one for all’ (in Spanish it is reversed)”. Thank you!

I’m still not understanding why Isa DID tell Enrique about the baby. She knows he has no scruples or morals. Didn’t the thought he may try and blackmail her ever enter her scheming mind?

“Reeky tells Isa he noticed last night that she is really in love with Fer”. Oh yes, that was transparently clear by the fact she jumped right into bed with you. Ack.

I enjoyed the proposal immeensely. Finally, as you so noted! It's amazing that I still find the children lovely and amusing. The Fer tooth fairy scene was another lovely moment. Fer is at his best when he is with his children, whom he so obviously loves. Glad he is finally showing them (and us) that this is so.

daisy "And I like opera, but gees man, tune it down!)" had me smiling. Yes, really...I also am fervently hoping Fanny Sr. is not the root/cause of his vengence scheme. We know she had two ardent suitors, but a third?

I''m gleeful that Diego could not have chosen a better apartment. Neighbors with Enrique? Now, this will be interesting.

Diana

Marta, thanks for an absolutely fantastic recap! It was like watching the episode again with all of your details.

I loved Yolanda finding out about Isabela's loose lips around Enrique and looking for a triple margarita to calm her down. If Fernando were to find out the baby is not his, if it isn't, it would only be because of Isabela's own big mouth and having a DNA test. She is the one bringing the issue up. So if she is telling Enrique as insurance for possible future child support, it does not make much sense. Anyway, she tells Enrique everything and he tells her virtually nothing about his plan for Fernando. Enrique's whole lunch with Fanny was disgusting as he ferreted out of more and more info about her. Sad but she is too naïve to know what is appopriate.

The whole proposal scene was cute as well as the "tooth mouse" visit with Luz.

How totally wondrous that Diego just happens to be Enrique's neighbor!

Jarifa

Did you all notice Enrique's instant anger when Betty said 'she is a child! she could be yours (per her age,not suggesting she IS his)!'

and on their way out after Nico told off Isa, as they literally walk through the door, he tells Jen 'a tí no!' (meaning he won't let Isa do anything to or insult Jennifer... you go Nico!!)

totally agree, DaisynJay, that involving the kids and having Fernando there as excited as everyone else showed Jennifer that there would be no frictions at all in the household (except for Isa and YoMama, of course, but Jen can handle them if she knows she can count on support from the others)

Totally loved the scene of Fernando and Bruno in the end, when Bruno notices Fernando is not well, Fernando says 'life is painful sometimes' and Bruno responds 'not all the time' and relates the times Fernando has been real happy and the times not so much.

Also loved Luz asking the twins 'is this going to hurt??' right before they pulled on the thread...

and Fernando catching himself saying 'super cool' and putting a face like 'did i really just say that??' too funny...

loved the word play of Ana and Fer in the end... Ana said 'sure' but pronounced it as shuar so Fernando tried to correct her but instead of saying sure he made it sound like shor so she said no, that's short ... too funny. and then she said it is delicious (meaning the cheese under Luz's bed) and Fernando thinks she means him so he thanks her, but she cleared it up for him.

I think Isa's plan is about Fernando's money, but i can see Reeky's plan is not quite directly about money as much as something from the past... whether it is about Fanny Sr (i think it is likely given his response to Betty saying 'She is your child! she could be your kid!') or, again, something about business from way back... Isa let us know last night that he had her ask Fernando specifically that Fanny work with Reeky, so it has to do directly or closely with Fanny AND Fernando.
But Fernando did not meet Fanny until Diego brought her... so i am curious as to how their paths crossed with Reeky's, unless this was from way back and Reeky just would go against whoever Fanny Sr ended up with. They are stressing to us that Reeky has not been seriously interested in anyone before (but maybe just like in Diego's case, there is ONE exception).

Dear Marta,

Thanks for this great recap. Love the vocab. What an event-filled episode, with lots more juicy info and possibilities.

Under the category, why we watch novelas -- the proposal scenes were adorable. The kids were just perfect and the adults --even stuffy Fer -- played it just right.

I can't stand the idea of Enrique being Fanny's father. What a terrible blow to that poor girl! But I think you are right. That seems to be the direction we are taking.

Enrique's hair dye seems to be fading a bit. It's an improvement from the screaming brown of a couple of nights ago.

So what happened to the conversation about Ana moving out? Are the previews a bit off?

I wasn't implying that there was even a chance of Reeky being Fanny's dad.. i seriously doubt Fanny Sr had anything to do with Reeky after she met Diego and Fer. what i was saying is he reacted un-naturally angry at Betty even mentioning that he was old enough to be Fanny's dad and it was disgusting that he was going after her. and then he yells 'I have nothing to do with Fanny!!' very angrily... like there is somewhere in there a resentment that if things had gone his way maybe she would be.

Dear Marta,

I see now where you were going on Enrique and Fernando.

On another note, here is something about PM NOT leaving this novela.http://entretenimiento.terra.com/novelas/pablo-montero-al-final-se-queda-en-mi-corazon-es-tuyo,a40ba1c2178a8410VgnCLD200000b1bf46d0RCRD.html

Marta, thanks for staying up late to get the great recap to us!

I'm only going to comment a couple of things--
The coy buildup of tension between Fern and Ana, I find annoying. As much as I like both characters, Fern is married by his own choice, and they are pre-canoodling under his wife's nose. (Much as I dislike Isa, I'm talking about general principles here).

Also, poor Leon. But can he please quit pulling that face...where the corners of his mouth go way down? It's impressive, but he does it all the time now.

Okay, enough gripe, on to work, where sadly, I am not allowed to comment on work computer.
:o(
Oh wait...there goes my mouth, I look like Leon!

J in Oregon

Great work, Marta.

I'll be a dissenter about the marriage proposal scene. While I certainly get that it showed Jennifer there would be no friction about it I personally would want such an occasion to be more romantic. This would feel very intrusive to me.

Beatriz calling Enfrique out over Fanny's age is a reminder of his age. It's making me wonder about whether the writers changed their minds about his age after shooting the maze sequence where his premature gray hair is shown. We all know that if this creep tries anything with Fanny Fernando's reaction will make his punch to Leon's face will look like kid stuff by comparison.

I love the idea of Diego being Enfrique's neighbor. This puts him in an excellent position to find out what this creep is up to. The one thing that bugs me is what he will ultimately do with what he finds out.

Thanks Mati for the Pablo update--My meeting was cancelled, so I checked in and you made me very happy today!

I don't believe they would go there with Fanny Jr. being Enrique's daughter. They have painted Fanny Sr. in almost a saintly light, and that sort of news would destroy both Fanny and all the kids of it came out. writers would all deserve a massive anvil if they did that.

I thought the parallel of the story of Rigoletto to the current plot going on with Reeky was beyond interesting.

Shades of things to come?

Daisynjay

“There is no doubt that Hissabela doesn't love Fernando. She clearly doesn't respect him. There is no love without respect.”

“Aphrodite, you are right,” said Hermes. “She's no better than Enfrique. They're both users of people.”

“How long will it be before they turn on each other?”

“That could be a while. He's an emotional sadist. He likes to watch suffering or he wouldn't have taken advantage of Beatriz the way he did.”

“Here's hoping Diego finds something out soon. He'll recognize a player in a New York minute. I hope he can stop him before he does anything to Fanny.”

Daisy, there are so many things that opera and novelas have in common.

Enrique may think he is the Duke but I doubt he has many friends cheering him on. He's definitely a lone wolf. Or dragon; wolves are monogamous.

I'm sure we'll eventually hear some of Mozart's Don Giovanni before this is over. He has his Elvira (Beatriz) and I hope she will get over her hurt, get mad, and get even.

Great episode and fabulous recap!

I too was thinking maybe Enrique will be Fanny's father. Which I would dislike immensely. But we don't know anything about Fanny Sr.s family. We haven't heard anyone speak of grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. Then again if Enrique was somehow related to Fanny Sr. then he would be related to the rest of the kids so why just the interest in Fanny?

Is it possible Fer had a relationship prior to Fanny and it was with say, Enrique's sister? Or the woman he loved?

Fanny Jr. looks so young, younger than 19 though I know the actress is like 21. Her and Enrique together just goes too far into creepy territory. Hope that is not the plan.

Really hope Jonny's comedy act takes off. Poor guy could use a win.

Poor Fer can barely control himself around Ana anymore. At some point he has to say to himself "I can't keep up this charade of a marriage".

Super sweet episode with the kids.

I agree that Reeky and Fanny getting far would go way there into creepy territory for a 8pm show and would cause unhealable wounds to ALL the kids...

ok, yes, Ana needs to move out and get a life other than having these multiple-per-day near misses with Fer... she can't think that helps anyone at this point.

UA, i am with you that on one side Diego being Reeky's next door neighbor might be a safety net for Fanny (i can see her being roughed up by Reeky and Diego hearing it and instantly rumbling in the door and shouting 'you just happened to have her uncle as your next door neighbor (what was that guy's name in the Tim Allen show over the fence?)
but at the same time Diego might have other goals and save the info...

Great Marta, got to relive every minute.

Fernando looking like a desperate fool, trying to connect with Ana, ain't sexy. She's moving on, so grab a bottle and Juan and crawl into the crybaby corner. Shoo

Thanks so much for your recap Marta.

Like others, I am done w/Fer being mooney after Ana. You chose to be married live w/it and stop harassing the nanny.

Must admit Lisado is a good actor b/c it was obvious he was lying when he was telling Fanny about his parents. I don't want to see him mess that poor girl over.

Diana, ITA how is Isa so in love w/Fer when she keeps putting her lips on Icky Ricky every time he shows up?! Perhaps in the tn world of villains she is in love but as UA's gods noted, there is no love without respect.

Well I see they snatched Tamara and her bangs out of the opening credits already. Diana from DTQTQ died halfway through the program and stayed in the opening credits until the end.

Just a quick comment before finishing the recap.

You know I'm one of the few who are sympathetic towards Fer. He's flawed, obviously, but basically a good guy. However, even I'm a little bit tired of his coming onto Ana. I hope the writers don't think this is cute. He's so upright that he marries a woman he doesn't love because she's pregnant with his child (as far as he knows), yet he keeps trying to kiss Ana. Shame on you Fer.

Thank you, Marta! I love all the detail you include, and totally agree with you that a minimal dose of Yomama and Johnny made this episode quite pleasant. Also the line about the Curiosity Killed the Cat Freedom Card.

Isa and Enfrique are both such sociopaths. Hated seeing Beatriz humiliate herself like that. Can she finally be done with that cad and turn on him?

I have also been wondering if Reeky is Fanny's biodad. He's such a creep, I wonder if maybe he raped FannyMayor. Perhaps she was freaked out, but, being a good Catholic girl, didn't want an abortion and also didn't want to give away her baby, so she quickly decided on Fer as her best prospect for a solid responsible husband to keep up appearances and take care of her and her child? Who knows. I am intrigued by Reeky's interest in Fanny, but worried this isn't going anywhere good.

OR, is there any chance he is Leon's father? Leon says the only thing he knows about his father is his name, but the name might not even be accurate. I think there must be some nasty background to the story of Leon's father, because if it was a nice relationship and Margarita was in love with him, wouldn't she have some nice things about the guy to tell her son?

I loved that little interchange between Fanny and Nando as they waited outside the party room. Also Fer's little moment of giddiness when he was so excited that Nico was FINALLY going to propose.

Fer needs to get a grip and stop sliming on Ana. Or else get a divorce.

Looks to me Ana is bored with the bore or perhaps after the steamy kisses from Diego she is just not that into Fernando anymore.

Isabela gotta lot of nerve spewing venom on Jenny while arm n arm with Nic, but perhaps she just assumed dad like the son and a push over.

Icky Ricky targets young impressionable, naive girls. Sure he has his game down since he's been practicing it on the same age group for 20 years.

Loved it when Sebastian pointed the finger where it should be and why. Fernando never lost the love of his children but don't think it ever crossed his mind they lost respect for him.

Respect, that something Fernando believed he had in excess is in arrears.

Finished the recap, thanks Marta, great as always and started the comments but just had to vent. This is a pet peeve of mine. The whole "curiosity killed the cat." thing. No one ever finishes it:

Curiosity killed the cat. But satisfaction brought it back again.

Isaho has a lot of nerve calling anyone else "asco" when she's chaka-chakaing with Icky Ricky.

Thank you Marta. What an episode. We learned a lot today.

I haven't been able to visit here this week until today because of work, I finally have a day off so I have a few things to say.

This engagement was so over the top that it makes me think something bad is going to happen, like Nico dying, either before or after the wedding. I hope I'm wrong about that.

The fact that Enrique is hurting Betty is actually a good thing because she will warn Fanny about him if Betty's suspicions are proving correct.

Of course there is only one apartment building in the entire city so Diego and Enrique will live right across the hall from each other. I hope Ana is the one to notice Isa's comings and goings.

J in Oregon, I totally agree with you about Leon's snarly face. It's really ugly and he would make a really good bad guy with it.

I hear everyone complaining about Fer and Ana's near miss kisses, and I agree that they shouldn't happen. But I actually like them, I'm still rooting for them, and now we know the baby will not be Fer's after all, so I don't mind that Ana And Fer are still in love. The way Ana acts with Diego tells me she is still a bit hesitant with him, but he does pressure her a lot and knowing that she can't be with Fer makes her willing to go along, but I can tell her heart isn't truly in it.
The story is such that Fer and Ana have such strong chemistry with each other that every time they're with each other they just want to go for it. I get that. Don't you remember when you were first with your significant other and it was difficult to stay away? That's them, maybe ten times more if the attraction is that strong. So as far as I'm concerned, keep the near misses or the not so near misses coming.

I forgot to add, my opinion is that Enrique wants Fanny as a confidant so he can learn more about Fernando and the company in order to destroy it.

If the story he told about his father was true, then he probably blames Fer's company for his father's ill health.

I'm willing to bet a whole box full of Nerfazos that Reeky's mother is alive and well.

The Leon actor is doing a great job, I must say. He can really transform his look to anything from saintly cute choirboy to tragic victim to ugly jerk with a mere alteration of expression.

Marta, thanks for a detailed and gratifying recap. We have plenty of action here and lots of room for speculation. Enjoyed all the comments.

Fer was fortunate to find the tooth on his first try. With no pillow/pocket to hold it or other gadget, he could have been fishing around for that naked tooth a long time.

Tofie: good point about the kids losing respect for Fer.

Traveling Lady: I noticed EB’s hair looked a little lighter and more becoming—though I prefer the actor in his natural grey hair.

I’m also surprised that Isa trash talked Jen in front of Nico. Made no sense. Bad writing.

The exterior of the apartment building is the same one they showed when Isa lived in her apartment. I thought at first that she may have rented her apartment to EB. Same thought occurred to me: the only apartment building in the city, obviously.

Cathyx: I like the chemistry between Ana and Fer and I like that they still love each other, but I don’t like what Fer’s doing because it basically makes him a cheater and I don’t want him to be a cheater.

We used to get a quarter under our pillow from the tooth fairy.

Nanette

Marta:

That was such a great recap! Thanks for all the slang translations. Most of Ana's slang goes right over my head.

Well, now we know for sure Isabruja is in cahoots with IckyLisard; but how stupid of her to think there will be any pickings left after he finishes destroying Fer's company.

Let's hope the baby is IckyLizard's and Fernando finds out before his "7" get attached to a newborn.

Mati:

Thanks for the link about PM. Now some of us can rest easy.

Terra also had an article about Sebastian Rulli and Angelique Boyer announcing their love for each other via Rulli's Twitter account. I say "YES".
I loved rhem in "Teresa" and thought their chemistry was hot in LQLVMR..

Anon207:

What a great pickup about the producers deleting Tamara from the opening credits. I'll have to pay close attention tonight.

That and the typos on Leon and Tamara's marriage certificate were great!

“What is this with evil men and classical music?” asked Euterpe. “I don't like that the greatest art form ever created by mortals is the province of varlets like Enfrique.”

“It is the preference of educated people,” said Athena. “He enjoys it because he understands its complexity and how it works. However, he lacks the soul necessary to create it.”

“Indeed,” said Apollo. “He sees it as something with snob-appeal. These days only the wealthy get the opportunity to learn about it formally. That fills me with despair.”

I didn't buy a word of what Enfrique was saying about his father yesterday. I think he's lying like a rug.

If he's Leon's father he is no more to the manor born than Hissabitch is. Which would be a laugh.

omg, had to rewatch teh whole ep and kept finding stuff i loved...

1. when they huddle in library as Jen arrives, someone shouts 'get down (there)!' to Nico and he squats thinking they all need to squat... such a funny scene...
2. when Fernando finds them in hallway and asks what they all are doing there, Ana gets him to shut up and one of the twins comes to say 'daddy, we don't have a poster board (cartulina) for you!' (and of course he asks 'a poster board? for what?)
those poster boards were so cute with so much glitter, feathers, stuff stuck to them making letter shapes...

UA, ITA. I wonder if he was one of those guys who hang around Harvard without actually attending the school for the high end social environment... and lie through their teeth when they are asked what is their mayor and when they finish... LOL! wouldn't THAT be something... we know Isa went to Harvard thanks to her dad's inheritance... how did Reeky get there? that is, IF he went there, because that could be a lie just like his mom and dad story he told Fanny.

Wow! I missed last night's episode and just got caught up.

Thank you, Marta, for the wonderful recap and vocabulary!

And thank you, Daisynjay, for the opera link. LOVE IT!
