There was some good stuff I completely forgot!
Garabato went OFF and told Rita everyone in the dump was better than her sorry azz. And he's right!!!
Yikes....Meatball was looking at Miss Kitty like she was a meatball. Please, telenovela gods, DO NOT have Kitty marry Meatball.
The Quiet Man needs to invite Kitty and her kittens into that great big mansion immediately to save her from marrying Meatball.
And why does Rita act like the Meatball can shower Esme with luxuries? It's a measly pizza parlor! I guess it's all relative.
Loving all the comments and hoping that El Italiano is pushed aside by other interested parties. I'm ready for something large and heavy to fall on Rita. If she was conversing with Pablum at the time, that would be OK.
A couple of days back, there was a full face closeup of Lorenza. Had to notice how close set her eyes were. Doesn't matter how many designer clothes you wear, if you have beady rodent eyes.
Right now I'm trying to get some sleep, but I'm so mad at Rita I can't! I just want to choke her and throttle Pablum Pan.
Centavito got over his aversion to holding babies...which is good because he looks hawt holding a baby with those biceps :D
We learned that Fela can be trusted with a baby.
Ummm...that's all I've got. This episode had way too much Rita in it, for sure! I hope the actress is having a good time playing such a foul character!
I was surprised that the shrine to Esme wasn't still up in Pablo's apartment. Maybe he sent Mariano in to hide all the paintings and clean up a bit.
I'm starting to get really bored with all of Damian and Mercedes' conversations. They just go on too long and never get anywhere.
I'm hoping tomorrow Gata will leave before making a deal with the Meatball or Damian will interrupt them or Damian will finally hear the info about who Fernando's daughter is when they visit the other lawyer. I'm having a hard time watching her try to care for the babies. Where is she getting clean water for formula? How is she supposed to be giving Pablito antibiotics without a refrigerator to keep them in? I want the babies out of the dump. I want all the real babies everywhere to never have to live like that. Sorry for the downer, but a lot of the dump scenes have this effect on me.
Paloma, beady rodent eyes is right!
Lorenza's pink outfit with matching necklace was full of pazzaz tonight but how long will I have to wait before I can see her show off the latest in garbage dump fashions?
I am wondering if the marriage was legally annulled?
Do the shacks have locks? Rita couldn't get in but Gata just walked in while Fela was sleeping.
QUE?
Why are the writers trying to make me loose sleep? N000000!!!!!
Not the Meatball--dirty old cockroach. Televisa don't do this to us. N0000000000000000000!!!!!!
the gringo
Even Garabato looked disgusted by Rita when demanding why she was trying to break into Fela's house. By the way, the horse he was riding was a fine looking beast. And happily, the extras they bring in to play the dump dogs look pretty healthy, too.
Thanks Susanlyn for "Miss Kitty and the Kittens", love it!
I was coveting Lorenza's pink and gold necklace. Had to laugh when she was asking the "kids" when the marriage would take place and Mariano drawled out "goooooooall!" What a kid.
5ft: "where are they getting clean water for the babies' formula?" I want the babies out of there too, it makes me cringe, but also the broader problem or real people growing up in places like that. I think the contrast is what makes me so annoyed and impatient with "Poor me" Pablo. What was it somebody said yesterday... Boo Freakin' hoo.
Come on Silensioso, get a move on, we need you! Change into your Superman cape!

Now, shouldn't they be able to fill about 100 episodes with all that and the rest of the side plots?
Anyway, that's what I'd like to see. But whatever, writers.
"I'm starting to get really bored with all of Damian and Mercedes' conversations. They just go on too long and never get anywhere."
DITTO.
Actually, I'm finding this show relatively easy to recap. Lots of montage-esque scenes, a lot of dialogue that is 5 minutes of saying the same thing over and over and only 1 or 2 major reveals/plot movers per episode.
gringo-good catch on that continuity thing! I hadn't even thought about that!
J--I LOVED MARIANO'S SNARK TOO!!!! He is really becoming a character to watch for. I really, really, really hope that he's Team Good when we get to the Fin.
I forgot to say that I've been thinking about the editing and I don't think it's Univsion. I seem to recall there being a discussion about CI's rotten editing and the blame fell squarely on Ms. Latoodle-oo. They really need to keep her away from the editing room.
Anon 5:10 ditto and I'm gonna say it. I want Kitty and Damien together. No, not right away, but when baby kitty opens her eyes and sees that guy is only missing a horse.
Damien - gimme that horse Garabato there's a damsel in distress
Meatball - "If you want my body and you think I'm sexy
Come on, sugar, let me know
If you really need me, just reach out and touch me
Come on, honey, tell me so, tell me so"
Mercedes - the sky is falling, the sky is falling
Mariano -dude, you are so funny, but it flew right over the heifers head
Rita - or I'll huff and I'll puff....
Virginia - one sour note
Kitty - one condition, I keep my last name, Dona Esmeralda Meatball sucks
Gee...about Lorenza's beady, close set eyes..I am glad that someone else noticed that. Now, I can't stop thinking of my new nickname for her...Beady...beady eyes and the perpetual beads she wears around her neck.
The dump scenes get me down in the dumps . Seeing those dear babies there is cringeworthy. Did you notice how Fela's eyes looked clear and lucid not all crazy when she was lying next to Little Letty ?
That big mansion has so many rooms. Surely Miss Kitty and her kittens could be cozy in the tiniest guest bedroom. Come on Damian and Silent Guy.
I guess I am not as disappointed with Pablo as everyone else because a) his life experience has not prepared him for anything of substance (look at his choice of careers - not exactly a good way to support a family), and b) he hasn't yet caught his family operating in BIG LIE mode, so, while he disagrees with them on occasion, he doesn't have any reason to suspect the depths of their duplicity.
What upsets me about him is his lack of curiosity, taking everything handed to him uncritically. THIS is the outcome of years of higher education?
Also, Pablo has not had any challenge to overcome, a life changing event that he could learn from and that would build a spine for him. Esme, on the other hand faces these kind of challenges on a daily basis.
Susanlynn, I am with you on seeing those twins in that dump setting. Simply awful. Also, I can tell you from experience that taking care of twins is way more involved than taking care of one baby multiplied by 2. Esme has her hands completely full, and is desperate in a way that only the truly poor can understand. That Meatball would take advantage of this situation speaks volumes about his character.
Gringo, I am thinking that our line of anvils may not have enough killing power to properly address the levels of evil portrayed by some of the antagonists. What do you think about adding a line of ACME safes to our offerings?
David
GAWD. This is what bothers me about EVERY novela.
(Not that it stops me from watching.)
Susanlynn-I am also depressed by the dump scenario. And the sad thing is I don't know if US audiences truly understand that people do really live that way. Even my educated husband thought it was just a cheesy convention on the part of the writers, but I had to explain about the community that lives there.
Literature note: Costa Rican Author Fernando Contreras wrote Unica Mirando al Mar about the children that scavange garbage dumps. I've got an excerpt in a textbook, but I'm not sure I can handle reading it.
Hope you get settled soon and you have more access to La Gata!
The chocolates I'm working on this week happen to be for a really cool project where the organizer is turning one of the local homeless shelters into a 5-star restaurant for the night and serving a meal to the residents. I'm making truffles for favors. After watching this show, I couldn't resist when I heard about the project. If you want to read about it, the website is www.benfeedsback.com
Hopefully I'll get a chance to check back in later today before I do tonight's recap. Now I've got to go back to scooping ganache for truffles and wondering if Esme goes through with it or not!
Miss Kitty don't go there!!! Not the Meatball.
David---Good evaluation of Pablo.
If Pablo and Miss Kitty marry, Kitty will definitely be the stronger of the two.
Acme Safes?---Good idea but we might have to go to the equipment rental place for a couple of cranes.
Sara---At first I thought that the dump was a Televisa movie lot but Vivi set me strait with the name of the place where La Gata was filmed. Since then I have checked out a few places on the internet. The Philippines/Manila
Indonesia/Jakarta---India/Bombay
and Mumbai etc. Unfortunately a lot of children do grow up in these terrible conditions.
I have always known that conditions like these exist but what surprised me was that the rent was coming due. QUE? Rent in a dump? I guess that even dumps don't come free.
Yes Esme needs money for medecine but I don't think that selling newspapers will bring in enough.
Please hurry up Damian and talk to Silencioso about a room in the mansion for Esme and her babies.
MEATBALL---KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OF
MISS KITY!!!
the gringo
Okay, Mercedes is really getting on my nerves, she knows first hand how hard Esme has it and yet she advises Damian not to go to the only person that can help them? What is your childhood trauma Mercedes?!
And this has been bothering me for days, a few episodes ago Pablos father showed him an ultra sound as proof that Kitty was a dirty dirty whore, however Pablo never questioned how daddy got the ultra sound but more importantly Dona Rita told him Esme was only about three weeks along which means it's way too soon for an Ultra sound to show ANYTHING. Dear god man, you are college educated use your BRAIN!
Thanks for sharing. Now if you could just save us on the patio some of the leftover truffles...

gringo--I'm with you! I hope I don't get too mad tonight!
Niecie-Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Eli-I'm so bad about just letting the shows wash over me and not thinking too much, but reading your comments about Pablum and his cerebral deficiency and willingness to accept the baby/ultrasound story so easily just got me mad. It hadn't reallly registered with me before. I may have to start drinking before each episode. Oh, and Meche is REALLY wearing thin for me!
EVERYONE- I know I am grateful when you still comment on super short recaps. I appreciate every comment.
Kat, We have great company on the patio and I am SURE we will all LOVE whatever you do. If it weren't for you, this (and DQTQTQ) probably wouldn't have been recapped.
That being said, if anyone has ever thought "I wonder if I could recap?" This is the show to try it out on. Like I mentioned earlier: lots of montages and endless dialogue with little importance. I know I've set a precedent for short recaps and now matter how much or how little you write, we will shower you with praise and gratitude. NO anvils. We promise.
Thanks Sara for opening up a lively discussion.
Could someone please explain how Pablo got his nickname "Pablum Pan". I know it's from a musical that I didn't see. I was curious from the beginning but didn't ask because I didn't know that it was going to stick.
Thanks.
On a related note, I feel like we need a name chart! Not only have we nicknamed a lot of the characters, many of them have multiple identities, nicknames, etc. WITHIN the show, which I imagine makes it extra confusing.
Eli...Monday would be best for me! Whenever you're ready, just let us know.
To echo Sara, we're happy to have any and all help anyone provides and you will totally be showered with praise and gratitude!
There are always extra truffles :D And ones that are less-than-perfect.
The week I definitely can't recap is the 13th-17th, so any day you want to take in there would be fine. Perhaps if Eli has started by then and Monday is covered, and you take Wednesday then Sara has Friday which pretty much covers the week? Something like that.
I might try and come up with a name chart, but I've got a mind like a steel sieve.
