Mi Corazón es Tuyo Lunes 9/8/14 #36

Prologue

Mount Olympus: The ancient gods usually content themselves with sitting back and watching human comedies and tragedies play out as though they were continuous live entertainment. However, upon occasion a truly egregious situation comes to their attention and they feel a need for action. One great enough that two goddesses normally at odds with each other needed to speak.

There is very serious trouble in Mexico City today.”

Who is the troublemaker, Aphrodite? It's usually you.”

Isabela Vázquez de Castro has lured a wealthy widower into a trap. She seduced him in a moment of weakness and is now pregnant. His morals dictate that he marry her to raise the child in a proper family.”

A man should marry the mother of his child; I don't see the problem.”

Hera, the problem is that she hates his children. Seven children whose mother died only a year ago. The youngest child is only five.”

Tell me more.”

The father, Fernando Lascuráin, loves another. Ana Leal is the woman who loves not only him but his children. She is good to them and they love her. Her last name means 'loyal' in their language. She belongs with him and his family.”

And how did this Isabela come into their lives?”

She and her mother planned this, including her working in his office. They planned for her to marry Señor Lascuráin for his wealth and position.”

That is nothing new. Mortals have been doing that since before I can remember.”

True, but she will make a mockery of this marriage. She may try to banish his children and steal their future inheritance. These children will suffer without their father and he without them. And there is Ana to consider.”

Why, if she is not also expecting offspring?”

She was robbed of family when she was a babe. She grew up in an orphanage. She left a man who was unworthy of her. Fernando was about to declare himself when Isabela told him she was pregnant and he fell into her trap.”

You ask much of me,” said Hera. “It is not my way to stop a marriage from taking place.”

If we do not, Hera, think of what that marriage will look like to his seven children. Would you have them shun marriage because their father marries a Fury? Also, he may not be the father of her child.”

That is most serious.”

Look at her name; she is named for one of the last century's dictators. She even practices the Black Arts. She almost presumes to be one of us.”

Enough! We will investigate this immediately.”

She gestured to a nymph, who brought a large iridescent blue bowl. “We will need to observe so we can decide the best course of action.”

Another nymph poured some clear water from the Aegean Sea into the bowl. The two goddesses drank nectar before looking into the water. It swirled until it appeared to crystallize and they were able to see.

Capitulo 36: The Wedding from Tartarus

Lascuráin Mansion: Ana was crying in her room when Fernando comes in to talk to her. He was dressed for his wedding, looking more gravely handsome than usual. She finally asked whether he ever cared for her. He answered “No. I loved you.” They almost kiss, but Ana pulled back and looked away from him. “No, you've made your decision, and I won't carry on like a madwoman.”

They did not see Luz, who stood outside the room with her ear to the door.

No, Ana, you are not mad.”

At times I think this is all happening in my head and I imagined it all, like a fool” she says through her tears.
As she continued talking the twins arrived, dressed for the wedding.

What are you doing?”

Dad is in there with Ana,” she told them, shushing them so they would not be heard.

What are they saying?”

Don't know. It would be nice for them not to leave.”

What do we do?” asked one of the boys.

We could block the door,” said the other.

How?” asked Luz.

We gotta get something.”

The other boy seemed to realize the answer and the two left their little sister in front of the door. Luz leaned against the door again.

I was foolish to see this through the end.”

Why?”

Because you aren't going to marry me. Because Isabela will be your wife, not me.”

Road, back of Limosine: The contentious bride was about to begin arguing with her mother for whom she had no respect. Yolanda complained she hadn't had time to eat that morning, but Isabela was not sympathetic. She tried getting the driver to hurry.

Yolanda picked up a large sandwich at which Isabela rolled her eyes.

El Barrio, Nicolás' Car: Jennifer settled into the shotgun seat and Nicolás entered and prepared to drive. The car refused to start. Jennifer told him to open the back as she got out of the car. Totally confused, he complied and was surprised when he realized she knew quite a lot about automobile motors. She explained that Johnny taught her a few things about them.

She told him to get into the driver's seat and start the motor when she tells him to.

But it's dangerous!” he said.

Don't worry,” she said back.

A few words and a couple of turns later on her part she told him to start the car. It worked! He laughed, helped her back in, and they were on their way.

León's Room: Tamara watched him get ready. He almost slipped when asked where he was going, but explained that he was attending his boss's wedding. His son asked if they were going to be living with him. He told him yes, but for now he needed to go out. He gave the boy a sketch book and pencils. Tamara told him she missed him. He didn't quite believe her because she had left him and canceled her cell phone. She started to make excuses such as going to the US with her mother, but he didn't stop to listen. He kissed the child and left.
She leaned against the door saying to herself “How stupid I was.”

Lascuráin Mansion: Fernando realized he couldn't buy any more time.

I have to leave for the church, Ana.”

I will bring the children, Fernando,” she replied without looking at him.

He rose to leave as she wiped her tears and said “I want you to know truthfully I hope you will be happy.”

He looked anything but that as he turned toward the door and discovered it would not open.
Outside in the hall the twins were wedging the leg of a stool into the door handle so the door couldn't be pulled open from the inside.

[“Adorable little imps,” said Aphrodite. “Remember when Hermes was only a day old he stole Apollo's herds? Zeus had to make him give them back.”

Mortals are lucky they need to wait a while for such things,” said Hera. “But these children can see what their father does not.”]
Sebastian arrived just at that moment.  What are you doing?” he asked.

The younger ones shushed him. Luz said “Papa and Ana are inside.”

Fernando continued to try to open the door, finally telling Ana “We're locked in.”

Ana half-smiled because she knew the children had done this.

Road, back of Limosine: Isabela and Yolanda were still arguing despite efforts to keep their voices down. Yolanda was trying to get Isabela to calm down, but Isabela was afraid something bad would happen. Yolanda was not pleased with her daughter's behavior, though, and threatened to get out and call a taxicab. Isabela was more than fine with that.

The only wrong thing is that Fernando doesn't love you. He loves – “

Stop with that nanny,” Isabela shouted at Yolanda.

She then shouted at the driver to go faster and demanded her cell phone so she could call Fernando.

Lascuráin Mansion: The boys draped one of their father's jackets over the stool just as Bruno came around the corner talking to his mother on the phone.

He was trying to explain Fernando's wedding but was caught off guard first by the children then by Manuela, who walked in wearing a strapless dress displaying her shapely assets. She asked flirtatiously whether he would zip it up in back. He awkwardly ended the call with his mother to attend to this.

He handed the phone to Luz but was clearly ham-handed when trying to zip up Manuela's dress. He suggested to her that they go downstairs. She agreed with a grin and they left, leaving the children in front of the door. They quietly leaned in, the boys holding onto the stool.

Fernando tried the door again and realized his children had done something. Ana commented that they might have done so knowing they were together. He knew he would end up being late to the church and Ana hadn't changed yet. She asked if he'd like her to change right then and he said “No,” while looking away.

Papa will be furious,” Sebastian said to the others. Then the phone rang and Luz answered.

Hello.”

Who is this?” asked Isabela.

Luz.”

Ay, my little Luz, the last-born,” said Isabela with false affection. “Can I talk to your Papa?”

My Papa can't answer.”

Why can't he?”

He's locked in with Ana.”

What?”

Yes. He's in Ana's room.”
That can't be, it can't be,” said Isabela as she dropped the cell phone. She then shouted at the driver to drive to Fernando's house. Yolanda said they were nearer the church. “Why are we going to the Lascuráin house?”

To kill Ana,” said Isabela.

How crazy you are,” said Yolanda, opening her flask. The driver stopped, backed up, and made the correct turn toward the mansion.

Was that the witch?” asked Sebastian. Luz nodded.

What did she say?”

She's a monster.”

Ana figured out that the children were outside listening and Fernando demanded they open the door and let them out. They realized he was angry and hesitated, but finally opened the door and faced him.

Whose idea was this?” Fernando asked. None of them would talk, so he decided not to waste any more time. He looked back at Ana (whose eyes betrayed the earlier tears), then left.

The four children then entered the room and she told them she would go with them to the church as she promised, but she would first have to change. Fernando called them down and she told them to obey.
They left and she sat down on the bed, then laid down to cry alone.

Fernando and León were waiting downstairs while Bruno still had problems with Manuela's zipper.
The four younger children came downstairs and Fernando asked where their older siblings were. Fanny then descended the stairs in a bright yellow dress suitable for a ball.
Luz looked up at her older sister as though she were seeing a princess.

Street: The limousine got caught on a rise in the pavement and the driver stopped. Isabela became abusive again. The driver remained as calm as he could and Yolanda tried to get Isabela to calm down. She kept shouting that they needed to get to Fernando's place to deal with that naca of a nanny.
The driver got out and tried to move the car from behind.

They're probably having farewell sex,” said Yolanda. This caused Isabela to demand that she get out of the car and walk off her drink

Why should I be the one to get out of the car?”

Because I'm pregnant.”

I'll remember this later when you get fat.”
Nonetheless, Yolanda got out of the car and walked to the back.
She must have convinced herself that her and Isabela's lives depended on this wedding because she succeeded where the drive had failed.
She pushed the car out of range of the pavement problem, much to the driver's confusion.

[“How desperate they must be,” Hera said. “A mortal woman of her age doing such a thing. And for such an ungrateful daughter.”

I wonder whether Hermes had anything to do with that?” wondered Aphrodite. “This would be like him.”]

Lascuráin Mansion: Fernando complimented his oldest daughter, who then told him that Nando was going to the church with his girlfriend and Alicia was still upstairs.

Fernando left to get his other daughter while León looked somewhat uncomfortable. He was not wearing a tie, so Fanny left to get him one. He looked more uncomfortable for another reason entirely.
Fernando escorted Alicia down the stairs, there was some confusion about Ana and Diego, the latter of whom Fernando assumed would go there on his own. Fanny came down the stairs with a tie for León. They all went out the door.

Upstairs Ana had changed into the dress that Fanny had given her some time ago.
She put on some cosmetics with particular attention to her eyes when a knock sounded on the door. Diego came in, informing her that he was to take her to the church on his motorcycle.
They would get there faster that way. He was clearly not dressed to honor the occasion of his brother's wedding. Ana told him she was not ready. She may look so, but she felt like a cat about to enter a cage full of tigers. He said he would wait for her downstairs but hesitated to leave.

Can I do anything else for you?”

Yes. Listen. Fernando told me he loved me.”
Diego looked disappointed.

Outside the Church: The rest of the family was outside the church awaiting the arrival of the bride. Jennifer was worried about Ana, knowing what a difficult occasion it was for her. Beatriz stood near her boss, probably wishing the day was a dream rather than reality. Her dress looked very unflattering, especially the colour, which might have been chosen by a US Bridezilla for a bridesmaid. Fernando had not expected Isabela to be late, so he took out his cell phone to call.

Lascuráin Mansion: The limousine pulled up in front of the mansion and Isabela ran out just as her cell phone began ringing. She rang the front doorbell repeatedly as Yolanda picked up the phone and saw that Fernando was calling. She called out to Isabela, who could not hear her. Finally Diego opened the door and Isabela came charging in without so much as a greeting, then went up the stairs. Yolanda followed at a more leisurely pace, greeting Diego with a poor joke. He took it with good grace.

Which was certainly not shown by Isabela, who charged into Ana's room.

Where is Fernando?” she shouted, then grabbing Ana's arm. “I asked you a question, you damned idiot.” She was almost screeching.

He has gone to the church.”

No, he isn't at the church. They told me he's been here locked up with you and if you took advantage of that I will be happy to dismiss you.”

Calm down, come down,” Ana said, almost but not quite condescendingly. Isabela slapped her hands.

Yes, we were locked up in here,” she said in mock shock. “As they told you.”

You stupid – “

Stop it!”

They stared at each other.

Downstairs Diego poured shots of tequila for himself and Yolanda, explaining that his brother had kept all liquor locked up. This was the stuff she had sent to his father. Yolanda couldn't resist commenting on Nicolás, calling him a humble man.
She talked about how he called to thank her for the gift basket. Diego looked a little surprised at her comments but distracted her by saying “Shouldn't we intervene?” because the argument upstairs had gotten much louder.

Calm down,” she said. “It sounds like the nanny needs a little help.”

Oh, Yolanda,” said Diego, extricating himself from the couch. “The one who really needs help is Isabela.”

Isabela was clearly off the rails.
Answer me! Tell me what you and Fernando did during your so-called imprisonment!”

Saying goodbye.”

Liar!”

How do I say this? I won't deny that we talked about the love we feel for each other – “

Isabela slapped her hard, with a vicious expression.

She grinned back in an oh-so-haughty way when Ana got up and started to hit but stopped herself.

Outside the Church: Beatriz told Fernando that Isabela isn't answering her cell. She walked away to call the service provider. Nicolás suggested that there could be another reason.
“Maybe she is sorry and changed her mind.”

Papa, this is no time for jokes.”
Beatriz stood there on her cell phone, the priest asked whether they heard from the bride. Fernando told him they had not.

Lascuráin Mansion: Isabela should just ratchet it up a little more to give herself an apoplectic fit.
It calms me that this will be the last time you will ever be alone with Fernando because I – .”

Ah, but I will be working here – “

But I am marrying him, I will be the biggest impediment in your life. I will live in this house and I will do anything and everything to be rid of you.”

Very well, if you think it's better to be married than to escape free.”

You know what I think?”

No. It's obvious you don't care what I think. What?”

That nothing happened between you and you invented this all to vex me.”

I? I didn't say anything. Think what you want and invent as much as you want – “

You are just angry. Yes. You are dying of jealousy, dying of envy, and why? Because I won. I won Fernando and you know what?” She started prancing like a beauty queen. “I will be Señora de Lascuráin and you will be continue to be a lowly employee. Nanny to his children. The servant.”

Ana looked back at her but refused to back down.

[“What a bitch,” said Aphrodite. “It really stings that he doesn't love her.”

Yes, it does,” said Hera. “I wonder if he will cheat on her.”

Don't tell me you're going to let this wedding happen?”

I haven't decided yet.”]

Downstairs Yolanda realized that Diego was a little worried about Ana. She tried to get him to admit it but he was not inclined to. The doorbell saved him and he answered. The driver came in and asked for the bride. He handed over her cell phone, said that they were waiting at the church, and went back out to the car.

What happened?” asked Yolanda.

The whole world is waiting for the bride at the church.”

Upstairs Isabela kept pouring it on.

Aw, look at the nanny,” she said in a primary-schoolyard voice. “She wants to cry.”

Cut it out, Isabela, because I won't answer you.”

Oh, it's like that. And what do you think you're going to do?”

Wipe that smile off your face and – “

You want a fight, go ahead. Do it. I'd love to arrive at the church with a busted lip because finally he'll fire you. He'll throw you out into the street where you came from. Meow!”

Ana charged at her but stopped short when she was within slapping distance. She didn't allow Isabela the chance to say anything. “You are nothing but a witch who got pregnant on purpose so Fernando would marry you out of obligation to the child. But you know what? For all that you succeed in becoming 'Señora Lascuráin,' in the end Fernando loves me.”

Isabela tried to backhand her with her left arm, but Ana stopped it in mid-swing. “No, 'Mamacita,' not this time.” She pushed her arm down. Not hard enough, though, to justify the screams Isabela let out.

Ay! Let me go! Let me go!”

Diego came upstairs with the cell phone and slowly approached. He let Isabela scream once more before entering.

Sorry to interrupt, but the whole world is waiting at the church for the bride.” He held the phone out to Isabela. “You are to call Fernando.”

She took it smugly and looked at Ana. “I am going to my wedding with my future husband, Fernando. Think about what I said, Ana. I won.” She sashayed out past Diego.

Don't be so sure of that,” Ana said under her breath. She started in charge mode toward the door, but Diego stopped her.

On her second attempt he picked her up and put her on the bed.

Outside the Church: Fernando and all the guests were waiting. From the top of the stairs Isabel called Fernando and told him she was at his home. And why. He was losing patience with her rants.

He tried to tell her something starting with “Between Ana and I – “ but she wouldn't listen. She insisted he would have to explain himself later. She ended the call and ran out of the house with her mother.
Nicolás asked Fernando what was going on. He realized the children had something to do with this.
Fernando told the priest the bride would be there in ten minutes, then also realized that there could have been a confrontation between Ana and Isabela.

Limousine: Yolanda and Isabela got inside and told the driver to step on it. When Yolanda asked what was wrong, she said it was all Ana's fault. She continued to yell at the driver whose weary response indicated he couldn't wait for this day to be over.

Lascuráin Mansion: Ana took out all her verbal frustration on Diego, sounding off on Isabela's character. She told him what happened earlier when she and Fernando were talking in that same room.
And somehow Isabela found out and came to confront her. Also to throw it in her face that she was marrying Fernando. Suddenly she grabbed her purse and shawl and said they needed to get going. She ran out past him, confusing him.

Outside the Church: Fanny knew something was wrong and tried to get León to talk about it. He wouldn't, simply telling her he loved her.

León's Room: The cherubic child noticed a drawing of himself on the drafting board.
He showed it to his mother who told him that it meant that his father thought of him.

Lascuráin Mansion: Ana walked out, telling Diego she was calling a cab.
He stopped her and convinced her she would get there faster riding with him on the cycle. They finally got started.

Outside the Church: The limo came in and the priest invited the guests to come in and be seated.
Fernando swallowed hard and tried to maintain an appearance of dignity. Yolanda exited the limo as though she were an actress heading for the red carpet.
Isabela exited behind her, and her train got caught on her way out. She shouted for her mother, whose reaction was slow enough to betray the consumption of more tequila than we observed. The driver took care of the problem with no damage to the train.

Beatriz told her boss his bride was beautiful. He answered “Yes, but she doesn't look very happy.”
Isabela  approached him and it looked as though there would be a confrontation.
The three youngest of his children watched and realized that Ana was not yet there. The boys suggested they pray and they did.

At that moment Ana was yelling to Diego to go faster. He asked her if she wanted to get there alive.
Isabela made good on her promise over the phone.

Isabela, would you explain to me what happened?”

Explain what happened?” she said, petulantly. “You tell me what happened with Ana.”
What are you talking about?”

What did you do? Ana and you – “

Nothing, Isabela, nothing.”

Therefore what were you doing in her room when you were locked in?”

Talking.”

'Talking.' Oh, yeah – “

Nothing happened between us.”
The priest called everyone inside, sparing Fernando any further conflict. For the moment.

Nothing happened.”

Nothing? Swear to me. Swear it to me.”

I swear. Isabela, we are going to be husband and wife,” he said, gesturing they enter the church. She smiled back at him and he tried to smile back. Yolanda took that opportunity to ask about the young woman with Nicolás. “Is that your father's girlfriend?”

Yes.”

Yolanda grumbled about Jennifer being a pet before heading inside. Nando directed Luz to picking up the train of the bridal gown.
She wasn't happy at being conscripted for this duty. Her twin brothers flanked her and directed her to the spot.

[“Poor little girl,” said Hera. “This is not right.”

You see what sort of a wife Isabela will make.” said Aphrodite. “She will be an even worse mother.”]

Nicolás took Isabela's arm and looked at her.

Do you feel alright?” he asked.

Of course, Don Nicolás,” she said. “This is the happiest day of my life.”

The priest led the procession into the church with altar boys at his left. The only smiles were those of Isabela and her mother. Fernando stood at the altar looking more as though he were facing execution rather than marriage.
He tried to smile for appearances' sake.
Finally Nicolás handed Isabela off to him and took his seat. Luz placed the end of the train on the carpet and took hers.

[“Such a ridiculously long train for a smallish guest list,” said Hera. “How pretentious.”

She originally demanded 800 guests,” Aphrodite told her. “Most of whom her groom didn't even know.”

How tacky”]
Ana and Diego had still not arrived.

The priest began the ceremony. “We will not begin the sacrament of marriage of Fernando and – “

Ana!” shouted the twins. Bruno tried to shush them. Alicia and Sebastian looked up, but said nothing. Luz covered her mouth and laughed.

Si, Ana!” said the priest.

Isabela. I am Isabela,” she said to him.
I'm sorry. Isabella. Well, the first thing I want to say is marriage is not to be entered into lightly. Fernando and Isabela, tell me here in the house of God there are no lies, [xxx], [xxx] to clear up with each other.”

The couple looked at each other. Fernando answered “Yes,” but with much reluctance.
Because the most important thing in love is that you not hide anything from each other.”
Yes, of course,” said Isabela. Most uncomfortably.
That you tell the entire truth.”

León began to look uneasy.

Ana and Diego arrived and she dismounted the cycle before he even cut the motor. She took off the helmet and began running toward the door. She heard Isabela's voice saying “I will be Señora de Lascuráin and you will be continue to be a lowly employee. Nanny to his children. The servant.”

Diego ran after her and got to the stairs just after she got inside.

If anyone present knows of a reason these bonds of marriage should not take place, let him speak now or forever hold his peace,” said the priest.

Ana ran up the aisle, arm raised. “I, Father, I. I object!”

Isabela snarled. Fernando looked up in shock.

...let him speak now or forever hold his peace,” said the priest.

We now see that this was the fantasy in Ana's mind as she entered the church.

Ana! You got here!” said Luz. Loud enough for the couple to hear.

Fernando looked back to see Diego holding Ana from behind.

Is someone objecting to the marriage?” asked the priest. When he received no reply he said “In that case, we will proceed with the ceremony.” He then announced that Don Nicolás will read from St Paul.

Pachelbel's Canon in D [Otherwise known as the world's most boring piece of classical music] underscored the reading. Isabela looked at Fernando as though she had already won the jackpot and claimed the prize.

If I speak in the tonguesa of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,b but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Diego leaned over to Ana and said “For a moment I thought you were going to say something.”

When I calmed down I realized I didn't want to make a fool of myself.”

Yolanda certainly did when she complimented Nicolás on his way back to his seat.

Warehouse of Don Doroteo: Johnny still remained locked in.
He thought about Jennifer who tried to get him to get over Ana. He missed her. He tried to get up, but was in pain all over.
He finally sat back on the floor, praying to get out.
One of the guards came to bring him a sandwich. It was someone he knew. He promised to help.

Church: The priest asked the critical question. “Fernando, do you take Isabela to be your wife?”

Everyone close to him prayed that he would not.

[“Are you convinced now, Hera?”

Don't be so impatient, Aphrodite. I've seen that there are many people here who need lessons.”

Does that mean you're going to let this marriage happen?”

I will decide shortly.”]

Tune in tomorrow, folks.

Thanks for an absolutely fantastic recap! I loved the mythological intro complete with illustrations and Aphrodite's and Hera's running commentary. You are a very gifted writer.

My favorite scene was of course Ana twisting Isabel's arm when she tried to slap her again. I was disappointed Ana did not return the slap earlier. I hate when bullies go unchallenged.

I loved Yolanda with her torta and flask and then pushing the car with Isabela in it!

The kids were in their best form barricading their father in Ana's room and shouting out Ana's name during the wedding ceremony. Luz carried the train but frowned the whole way.

How long will it be before Fanny finds out why León looks so guilty?

Very entertaining episode.

I apologise for the small italics. When I wrote the text it was all the same font size. This blog doesn't come with WYSIWYG.

Anon, I too wanted Ana to "clobber" our dear Zerobela, but then it hit me... she stopped herself because of her love for Fernando.Wow!

I am catching up on episodes, finally saw Friday's epi this morning.

As the two sweethearts began to say their farewells for the day they passionately kissed and held each other. As their lips separated he said to her:

-I love you.
-I love you too
-I love you more
-No, I love you more!
-Nooo, I LOVE you more!
-No no no, I looove you more!
-Noooo! I love you more... and by the way, my wife showed up with her stuff and my little boy to stay at my place. Ok, good night.

So said the majestic lion as he slowly walked into the sunset.

Hours later, somewhere around 11PM.

-Sssir, sir, I found Fanny outside. She wwas with her mouth wide open staring into space.

-We better get her upstairs, I'll help you carry her.

-Nnno need sir. She is stiff as a plank, I'll just carry her on my shoulders.

Said Bruno as he lifted Fanny and balanced her on his shoulder and began going up the stairs.

Fernando cringed as he saw Bruno going up the stairs

-Bruno, please don't drop her!

-Nnno woorries sir, I have practice.

Great going Leon! I can accept you having a wife and being divorced, I can handle an offspring, but come on, you are a married man! When were you thinking of telling Fanny about this? Perhaps when you got arrested for polygamy?

Fabulous recap, Urban! Loved the framing device with Aphrodite and Hera, the screen caps, and the smoothly flowing account.

The kids were appealing in their fight to thwart the wedding. Those twin boys are growing on me, although Luz is my favorite.

I'm enjoying Yolanda--not a fake like Isabela.

Salvador, laughed at your alternate version, with a stunned Fanny being carried into the house.

UA, the episode was good enough, but by the time those two grand dames, Aphrodite and Hera, got through twiddling around with the fates, it was PRICELESS. I didn't want the recap to end! So I humbly leave a huge offering of fruit and wine and whatever else they like at their respective altars.

What does Leon think is going to happen, he can keep Fanny in the dark about his wife and kiddie forever? Duh! Stupid boy.
He will soon be kicked to the curb and deservedly so.

Dona Yolanda is growing on me or maybe they are just making her a bit more likeable. Or maybe she's just nicer when she is tipsy. Loved the scenes in the limo.

Thanks again UA!

Urban:
That was the most enjoyable recap I've read to date! Thanks for the tremendous effort. Having trouble with my phone, will check in later.

Aphrodite? Hera? Hermes? BRILLIANT! Urban, your muse descended last night.

I will have time to comment on the episode later this afternoon, but I wanted to thank you for your brilliant recap.

I tend to catch a lot of wedding episodes but I think this is the first one with a cliffhanger. I did the Amor Bravio one as though the local TV station reported on it and that was fun. However, this time there was too much going on in different places so I needed a device a little more omniscient. Keep in mind, however, that the ancient gods are not all-seeing or all-knowing.

Nor are they perfect. They don't always make the best decisions.

UA, I am awestruck at this absolutely luscious recap. How very Clash of the Titans...oh, gees, maybe we should rename the TN to that. Ana vs. Isabella for the queen of Mt. Mansion. Anyhoo...this was beyond wonderful. As a lover of Greek mythology and the Greek idea of the gods manipulating events on humankind for their amusement or test mortals, I so appreciate how you wove all this together.

But I think the gods will continue to test and play with our mere mortals. I'm guessing still the wedding goes on and we get to see Isabitch make Ana's life miserable. At this point, I blame Fernando for not seeing that there are "right" ways to handle this situation and marriage is not necessarily the only out. Whatever heartache she begins to play out on his kids as well will be on him.

Bless Diego for being there for Ana knowing how she feels, even though he feels something for her as well. She's going to need this support. Still rather like them together.

So Mr. Fer Jr. is being a total ass at this point. They really are making a parallel with these two men. I get not telling Fanny AT the wedding what is going on with him, but frankly, he shouldn't have even gone and then met her later to tell her, "hey, by the way I have a wife and kid....sorry. Kisses?". Don't think Tamara is going to go away quietly.

Am I bad...I actually don't even want Johny back in the picture. Are the writers going to have him fall for Jen now to pave the way for a Nico/Yolanda pairing...I beg the gods, NO!

Daisynjay

I was rather annoyed that Johnny's situation was in this episode at all and I was tempted to leave that out. I guess it was there to parallel the prison that Fernando created for himself. A prison he doesn't even realize yet.

The episode, BTW, was 3-4 minutes shorter than usual. Surely that time could have been spent on Tamara and a little of the backstory. Do we even know that child's name?

Urban: Again I'm in awe of your recap. I think I liked reading your recap more than seeing the actual episode. I agree with you that Johnny needs to go.....go....go.

I can't help but feel sorry that Leon didn't tell Fanny up front that he was married--.no matter the circumstances of why Tamara left him. I really like the Leon/Fanny couple.

Urban,

What a wonderfully-conceived and delivered recap! Bravo. You certainly enriched this episode that had me from the start.

What a greedy woman is Isabela that she would endure all of the indignities of the situation, including the hilarious mistake when the priest, prompted by the kids, called her Ana. No amount of Ana-slapping (oh why didn't Ana slap her back?? -- I know, the kids' needs) will make this the kind of wedding that anyone in their right mind would want. She did look pretty, I will give that to her.

Yolanda is growing on me, too. Not a match for our Don Nico, but a much needed antidote to her nasty's daughter's behavior.

Always back to Johnny. Thank goodness for the FF button.

Urban, with "Aphrodite and Hera", this was inspired indeed. It was beyond creative and totally mesmerizing. The episode simply paled in comparision to your summary.

The screen shots were amazing.

Now, was that Ursula Andress?

I also loved Yolanda chomping on her sandwich and sipping from her flask. Were those the secrets behind her herculean strength?

I hated Isabel slapping Ana. Of course Isa has lost, Ana is totally right. Fer loves Ana although everything is so muddied now that they are married in the church, I have no idea how all this will be rectified.

As much as Leon's hiding his wife and child is bothering me, his sheer contempt for his wife is bothering me more. I feel hate eminating from him and can't fathom what occurred to elicit such a reaction. The child is beautiful and seems happy and (thankfully) oblivious.

UA, your writing is truly amazing.

Diana

Yes, Diana, that is Ursula Andress as Aphrodite and Claire Bloom as Hera. From Clash of the Titans 1981 version; don't bother with the remake.

I was also bugged by Leon's treatment of Tamara although somehow she doesn't look very likable. She must have done something really bad to have earned that from him. The opening credits seem to have Leon end up with Fanny and there is no "triangle" shot. I guess we'll find out soon. I'm going to guess that her mother hated Leon (probably because he's poor).

Ahhh, thanks UA, I didn't recognize Claire Bloom. Wonderful images!

Yes, I can't imagine what Tamara has done to earn that much contempt but I'm sure we will find out. Fanny is going to be heartbroken once everything comes out. Sigh.

Diana

You are an amazing writer, Urban!! Thank you SO much. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fatima

UA!!! awesome original one again!! it sort of reminded me of a variety show in Puerto Rico in the 70's and also of Kung Fu when the young student would ask questions of the teacher/master...

one little detail.. when Ana stopped herself from stopping the wedding she told Diego she was doing it to not come looking like a fool and also so she would not confuse the kids more (Ana, always putting the kids' needs over hers... just like a true loving mother).
I will read comments and comment some more after my meeting and lunch. i will be back.

UA, I'm dumbstruck. This recap is better than the episode and helped me get out of the ditch and back on the road.

I parrot the disgust over Juan and now his target of obsession will be Jenny. Don't like the character but guess he must have some role to play later. Adrián Uribe is just nasty so perhaps it's him.

Fernando - stand back, I think a cat fight hot

Diego - calm in the eye of the storm

Fanny - butterfly's in my stomach and sinking feeling in my gut

Isabela - and his head will be next to my pillow and you bet we'll talk

Yolanda - brains & brawn

Twins - no problem too tough

Leon - this hole is not deep enough

Ana - "Let's give 'em somethin' to talk about"

Limo Driver - take this job and shove it

Tamara - he's lying to you too

tofie, agree re your comment about Leon lying to Tamara, too. I don't trust this guy.

Fatima

Thank you for the amazing recap!!

How old is Leon supposed to be? His wife looks much older to me, especially when compared to Fanny.

Isabella's beauty is definitely no match for her nastiness. A bruja indeed!

Previews gave away the cliff hanger ending. I was really hoping the wedding would be stopped or placed on hold but to no avail.

Think a lot more pain and suffering is coming Ana's way.

I guess I'm the only one interested in Johnny. His thinking and worrying about Jennifer all this time has touched me. Even if he is a boob.

I'm loving Diego. I think Urban put up a great picture of Pablo Montero on this blog or LQLVMR. Here he is looking good.......
I wish Ana would end up with Diego.

I thought we had got our treat of the day with UA's masterful recap... then tofie caps it off with this... ROFLOL!!
Ana - "Let's give 'em somethin' to talk about"
Isa is making such a fool of herself with all the whinning to Fernando about nothing... i can't wait for WW III at the house and Diego enjoying the show while Fernando sneaking little kisses here and there (no spoilers, i am just going by the credit clips we see of Fer stealing a kiss from Ana in the upstairs hallway)

I for one am joining the group that would not mind if Ana ended up with Diego... but we all know for the kids sake she will end up with Fernando...
hopefully they will bring a great consolation prize for Diego this time and he won't just go away quietly into the night as he did when Fanny Sr chose Fer (apparently).

Did I imagine seeing a clip of Ana catching Diego and a girl kissing in the study?

I like Diego (a lot) and think they can be close but more like brother and sister close (already have that vibe). Sure, Diego is enamored with her, fueled by sibling rivalry but I don't see one shred of family man, stay in one place, in him and that is what Ana has always dreamed of. She tried to beg Juan into it and failed, though he not worthy, and saw it with Fernando and the children. Diego is a moving target.

I hate that Ana fell in love with a man that is unavailable 99% of the time and she suffers and lives for that 1% stroke when the ice man lets his guard down.

UA: what a great voice for this ep!!!

J in Oregon: I was thinking same thing about Leon. There's no way he can keep his wife and kid a secret now. He did almost tell Fan the other day, but they got interrupted.

I thought Isa looked beautiful. And happy. Which kind of made me feel a little sorry for her. She's not an evil villain. Yet. These are the same people who did PEAM aren't they? That TN took a weird turn to melodrama. I hope that doesn't happen here.

Nanette

Carvivlie: Yes, what's the point of cliffhanging the ep if two seconds later your going to show the outcome in the previews. I know the previews can be edited to look like one thing and it turns out to be something else. But I can't imagine it turning out any other way than what they showed.

I'm interested in Johnny, too. I don't dislike him. I don't like some of the things he's done--especially his manhandling Ana. But he's not a bad guy.

Tofie: Loved these:

Fanny - butterfly's in my stomach and sinking feeling in my gut (perfectly said)

Twins - no problem too tough (so true--the little gangsters)

Ana - "Let's give 'em somethin' to talk about" (love that song, movie--and attitude)

Maybe Tamara let her mother talk her into leaving Leon and part of his anger is because it took the mother's death for her to come back. Tamara seems to be a pushover who came back to him because she really has no place else to go. She doesn't argue when he's being nasty to her. She didn't come back all fakey, calling him "mi amor" or insinuating herself on him, and she seems to have kept a good image of him to their son. But maybe all that will change once she learns about Fanny.

Juan is a small time wanna be pimp, a cheater and a leach and when he finally realized his meal ticket was leaving he roughed Ana up. He never gave much thought about Jenny because she wouldn't strip and give him a cut of the proceeds. Now when the crows come to roost he has to attach those sucker lips to some other host. I hope Jenny blocks him on facebook. She is doing fine without his meddling or involvement in her life.

Tofie, love that list, especially these:

Twins - no problem too tough
Limo Driver - take this job and shove it

That was exactly what he was thinking through that whole episode.

Luz was also tops during this episode. These three will definitely give Isabully a very hard time.

You are completely right in that Ana wants a family man who comes home from the office and is faithful to her. Diego has never been that man.

UA. Been thinking about what you penned all morning and sums it up nicely.

"Ana Leal is the woman who loves not only him but his children. She is good to them and they love her. Her last name means 'loyal' in their language. She belongs with him and his family.”

My fear is they will turn Diego into a jerky womanizer and someone who stops treating Ana well to justify Ana only having eyes for Fer and his eventually winning her back. Speaking of Mr. BallandChain,he will be married and probably mopey, and trying to keep her dangling with moony eyes and "I love you's" every day while Isabitch runs roughshod over her. Honestly, he does that, he's no better than Leon who we all want to take out to woodshed right now for how he's not fessing up to Fanny. In fact, as this goes along, he does not deal with how Ana is treated, it's going to be hard to root for the guy.

Frankly, as much as I like Diego now,I don't care if Fer and Ana are end game, but I prefer not to see Ana jerked around and the a-typical Hero who gets to "sleep" with the wife but the heroine is forgiving and hangs on for him eventually. Heck, I'd rather Ana look him in the face and say, "you made you bed, go sleep in it with her, do not come whining, no kisses, no I love you's to me and I'm going to go have some fun. But if these TN writers stay true to the cliche's, she won't.

Daisynjay

Unfortunately I don't think Ana can win. Isabruja always sweet talks Fer and pretends (to his back) to go along with him and whatever he says. (Si, mi amor, lo que quieres). If the kids act up or pull pranks, Isabruja will blame Ana and her lack of nanny skills. If the children behave, then Isabruja will say that the kids get along with her just fine and Ana isn't needed or can be replaced with someone more to her liking.

I have a feeling Fer will continue to have a hard time telling Isa 'mi amor' or 'te amo'. I have not heard him be able to yet....
I do remember hearing him tell Ana 'yo te amé' ...
I agree with all of you that Ana is 'loyal' to both Fer and the kids... and i doubt that she would willingly go far with Diego just to 'get back at' Fernando.
And i agree Diego does not fit the 'family man' that Ana is looking for.

I agree that IsaBruja was looking very happy, honestly happy at the wedding... and that backs up my feeling that when she told Ana that she truly loved Fernando and wanted to make him happy, she was not being totally hypocrit about it, even if the second objective of that was to give Ana a blow.

Isabully will do whatever it takes to get rid of Ana and she will start with lying through her teeth. She will be very careful as to what Fernando sees but that can't last forever. Eventually Fernando will overhear her arguing with Yolanda.

Now, does Fernando know that Yolanda is Isabruja's mama and not her nana? If not, that lie will cost her.

Thanks, UA! I love the commentary by the Greek goddesses.

Isabully may not be an evil villain, YET, but she is one heck of a low-class beeyotch.

I thought her wedding dress was ugly. The sparkles and illusion netting looked cheap. It looked like what a quinceañera girl would think was fancy, not something an older sophisticate would choose. Of course, she isn't nearly as sophisticated as she thinks she is. Plus, the neckline, or perhaps I should say breastline since it wasn't even in the same postal code as her neck, was rather too low to be very classy.

I loved how the kids made their feelings about the wedding perfectly clear, in front of everyone Isa wants to impress.

I am also glad that Ana held back and kept the high ground by not slapping Isa back. That could only be used against her. Her best defense is to keep her behavior above reproach and not to stoop to Isa's level.

Leon is being an idiot. I'm pretty sure that if he was done with Tamara and wanted to move on, he could have gotten a divorce even if he didn't know how to contact her. Abandonment is a legitimate reason. Did he really think he could hide this from Fanny forever? Was he going to wait until their own wedding day for the priest to ask if there is any reason they shouldn't be married and hope his mother didn't pipe up?

Isabela will remind Ana her proper place everyday, Fernando will support his wife and agree Ana disposable especially if she resist his advances or moves on to his brother or some other man.

The fantasy Fernando (the one I have no problem Ana hanging in there for) is quite different from the real man (how can he gut her time and time again with that silly, I know not what I do, look on his face)

Fernando seems to have grown up in a time warp somehow. Or will we eventually find out that Nicolas knocked up his wife and they "had" to get married? So is that why Fernando thinks this way?

My guess is that he will try to fake it but won't be able to.

Never fool around at work; it always comes back to bite you in the tuchas.

Well that would be a bite on both cheeks because Fernando was fooling with employees at home and office. Watch out Betty & Manuela.

Urban:
If I'm not mistaken, Isabruja told Fernando that Yolanda was her mother not her nana, and that it was Yolanda who insisted that Isabruja present her as her nana because Yolanda didn't want to embarrass Fernando in front of the engagement party guests.

That won't last. If Yolanda is a little fonder of the bottle than Isabrat would like it can slip very easily.

Beatriz won't have to worry too much; that dress she wore to the wedding was a real passion-killer on her. And Manuela is chasing Bruno. It would be very funny if Bruno had even less experience than his boss.

*Clapping hard* Wow UA what a fantastic recap! I loved every word and the screen caps interspersed with Greek Mythology only added to it.

I found the whole wedding very underwhelming for viewerville had been led to believe would be a grand affair. The church was just meh and the dress as Julia said was tacky, None of it seemed like a wedding tha was funded by a man who has 22 rooms in a mansion. I don't think Isa is in love with Fernando, I think she's in love with his name and title, it's why she keeps throwing it around. I wish that Ana would have kept a tighter lid on her emotions around the Bruja. Showing Isa her tears and divulging how she feels about Fernando only gives Isa more ammo to torment Ana.

I thought the visual stunner was Fanny, who looked so beautiful in her gown and hair done up. She actually looked over dressed for such a low rent wedding. Speaking of dresses, they can retire that dress that Ana keeps trotting out for special occasions. If there's a dress that needs to have a lighter set to it, I vote that one.

Yolanda is a card and like everyone else I am enjoying her running commentary. She has a way of keeping Isa in check. Still I think there's more to her and her back story. Could it be that she is not biologically Isa's mother? In the opening credits there is another woman, fairer haired, who looks like she could actually be Isa's mother.

I'm still not sure what to think of Leon and Tamara. She seems a sympathetic character right now, but I need to know more. Why did she take their child and leave?

I still am not interested in Johnny.

Little Luz is fast becoming a scene stealer!

Victor, I do remember Isa trying to do damage control with that explanation to Fer the day after the engagement...

tofie, you have me chuckling with...
how can he gut her time and time again with that silly, I know not what I do, look on his face)
Fernando is certainly going well over his fair share of 'I know not what I do' glances lately.

speaking of the wedding being meh...
i took a look at the size of the church and the group of people around them and it was maybe up to 50 but CERTAINLY not the 200 she had invited... were they just invited to the reception??

Let's hope everyone did rsvp or they'll have way too much food and guess Isabela's math would be right. Invite 800 and 200 attend. Agree, Fanny and her dress was the show stopper and also over Ana and that dress but then I stopped myself, realizing she got but one Sunday go to meeting dress. Maybe Diego will take her shopping.

If Fernando really expected Ana to go to the wedding to help with the kids, he should have given her an allowance to buy a dress and new shoes. Of course, this is the sort of detail he would NEVER think of. Fanny should have suggested it to him, but I think she preferred to be in denial that he was going to go through with the wedding. I wonder if Isa will try to make Ana change into the hideous "dress" uniform for the reception.

I hope there is dancing at the reception, and that Ana and Diego (who looks like he could dance) will steal the spotlight.

A nice touch to this whole story would have been Ana receiving her own delivery of a dress. It would have upped the romantic yearning between Ana and Fernando and given the two characters this secret thing between them that Isa could not take away. Isa wearing her tacky over the top wedding dress and Ana walking in with a beautiful designer dress picked out by Fernando for the woman he REALLY loves!.

It would have been fun to see Isa fuming at Ana looking so gorgeous and wondering where she could have gotten the money to afford something so expensive.

Actually, I thought Isabella's dress was remarkably restrained. Not exactly demure, but I was expecting something gaudier,as well as inappropriately risqué.

Wow UA, excellent. I love how you cleverly involved the Greek deities in the proceedings. And what an abundance of illustrations... one could follow the story simply by looking at the photos. I'm duly impressed.

tofie,

I always enjoy and look forward to your terse biting quips about the characters that you offer up for each episode... very amusing.

Wasn't that a yummy sandwich that Yolanda was munching? Enough for 4 and certainly a lot more appealing than that puny little sandwich the guy brought for Johnny. Not even enough for one person and he has those large insectual roommates to share with.

I was glad to see that the dress managed to find its way to Isabel more or less intact. It was certainly imperiled there for awhile.

I thought it was a little inconsistent of the younger kids to lock their dad in Ana's room but the later become impatient and fret about Alicia delaying their departure with her dawdling.

My heart went out to Tamara last night. She looks so tired, helpless, and frightened. At this point I can't imagine her coming from a wealthy family and it seems right now that she has no other family to turn to now her mom is gone.

Could little Luz be any more precious? I find the other younger kids a bit tedious (almost like they're forcing the cuteness) but I can't get enough of Luz. I even think that Ana is at her best in her scenes with Luz.

Carlos

Carlos: Luz is a natural. Tamara is a mystery re: categorizing. She seems remorseful for what she did. The key is how she'll react when she finds out Leon has a girlfriend. Will she be sympathetic or turn into a "monster".

I liked the way Isa looked. However, I'm not a churchgoer, but I do have a little prob with showing too much cleavage in church.

UA - "Yes, Diana, that is Ursula Andress as Aphrodite and Claire Bloom as Hera. From Clash of the Titans 1981 version; don't bother with the remake."

What remake? Are you referring to the Sam Worthington vehicle that had certain plot similarities and the same title as Clash Of The Titans?

Even with special effect 10K times better and more edgy action scenes the new Clash did not even com close to a certain something that the 1981 movie had. And Bubo!

By all the gods (as Burgess Meredith said) :-)

Carlos, I too am wondering about Tamara. One aspect that I did not like is that Telebizca made it look like she could not take care of herself. It is always the woman who needs to betaken care of. How is it possible that now that her mother is gone Tamara can't fend for herself? What was she doing all those years?

As others have said, Tamara does not come off too likeable. It seemed as though she did not want to be there, but was forced because she did not have the vision to plan ahead and try to make a life for herself.

Also agreed about the cliffhanger being hung 2 minutes after by the previews.

Tamara seems really pathetic and useless to me. This was exemplefied by her lame excuse for cutting off contact with Leon "well...we were in the States...". Please. You can still use a phone. Or go to a public library or internet cafe and use the computer to send an email or Facebook message. If Leon is in school, he's got to be using basic modern technology. It's not like it's still Olden Tymes and Pony Express is going to get accosted by bandits and lose your message.

Plus, she apparently hasn't done anything like get a job to support herself, or develop any other relationships that would give her any security. Nor has she apparently done anything since she arrived other than whine at Leon and sleep in his bed. Does she have any sort of plan? Or even a single idea of how to move on from here other than clinging to Leon and expecting him to take care of everything?

UA I am so blitzed that I don't have time to read the comments but wanted to say bravo! Loved the Greek mythology! So fun,
Thanks!
Rebecca
