Hasta El Fin Del Mundo #36 10/6/14 Greta May Not Want to Rent That Reception Hall After All

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! Lots of stuff happening in this episode. Let's get to it!

Old:
Fausto tells Sofia that everything about her - her smiles, her body language, her obvious happiness when she is around Chava - shows that she is deeply in love with him.

Alexa finds Alan in her room when she wakes up. Alan tells her that Manolo knows where he is.

Greta says she's changed her mind about the pre-nup. Pato doesn't have to sign it because Greta wants him to be part of the family! Not only that, she wants Sofia and Patricio to get married as soon as possible! Chava walks into the living room and hears the whole thing.

Chava gets the rug pulled out from under him.

New:
Chava isn't the only one surprised by Greta's reversal. Fausto is also shocked.

What the heck just happened here?

Sofia sees the stunned look on Chava's face. Chava says he doesn't want to interrupt anything so he excuses himself and tries to leave. Greta calls him back. "Since you are one of our best employees, I'd like you to share this family moment with us." Chava mumbles that he needs to get the car ready so he'll just wait outside for Sofia. Sofia thanks him and he turns and leaves.

At the factory, Lucas has been called to Silvana's office. Silvana tells Lucas he's been doing good work since he was hired. Now Senor Tobias is on medical leave. She askes if Lucas would be interested in taking his position as the company messenger? It comes with a substantial bump up in pay. Lucas jumps at the chance. Silvana will be supervising him and demands his loyalty and commitment.

Armie gets a brief respite from Alexa's clingy-ness. He comes home to have coffee with Irma. (Not a respite if you ask me. He should go for a drink. In Miami.) He wants to know what upset Irma so much the night before. "Did Renzi fire you?" Irma squeezes out a tear, "I need to take a trip. Alone. For a few days."

Cry? I'll just think about life
without eye shadow and push-up bras.

Alan needs more money to pay off his film debt but Alexa's piggy bank is D.O.A. She wants to know how much he owes Manolo. He doesn't answer, he just demands that Alexa help him out. Alan knows the Ripoll family has lots of valuable stuff. He comes up with yet another half-baked idea. "Why don't you take something valuable and we can negotiate with it?"

Armie and Irma wash dishes together. She says she just learned an old friend from school is dying of cancer. Irma wants to go visit her before she passes away. "How long will you be gone?"
"A day or two... or more. Who knows?"
Armie assures her that he and Nandito will be just fine in her absence.

Lupe' and Miguelina come face-to-face on the sidewalk. They pretend not to notice each other, then Miguelina turns and calls, "Buenos Dias, Lupe'." She tells Lupe' that ever since coming back to the neighborhood she has wanted to visit. Well, Lupe' doesn't want to visit with someone who was fooling around with her husband! Miguelina denies any hanky-panky with Javier. He was the one who flirted with every woman in the neighborhood! Miguelina can't believe that it's been so many years and still Lupe' holds a grudge.

At the factory, Matias teases Dani in the hall. He calls her "duena". She hushes him and tells him to keep it quiet. "Nobody in this factory knows I'm a Ripoll." Marisol sees them talking and ducks behind the corner to listen in.

Don't they know there is always someone lurking around the corner?

Back at the Ripoll mansion, Sofia finishes a call to the office. Greta praises her sense of responsibility. Sofia still can't understand why Greta changed her mind about the pre-nup. Greta claims she was overwhelmed by stress from the attempt to kidnap Sofia, Coria's death, Alexa's panic attacks and Dani getting kicked out of school. But now Greta has had time to think. She realizes that she was too harsh in her earlier judgment of Pato. It was unfair; she knows Pato is a true gentleman. Sofia asks, "But why this radical change? Why do you think this now?"
"We can't hold grudges. Patricio endured my opposition to him because he loves you very much and just wants what is best for you. And so do I." Greta pats Sofia's cheek. She wants the wedding to happen soon.

Get out the muck boots. You'll need them
to wade through the manure Greta is spreading.

Marisol confronts Dani about being a Ripoll. Dani denies it, "I didn't say I was a Ripoll. What I really said was I wish I was a Ripoll." Marisol is still suspicious, "The office jobs are just for Princesses."

Silvana asks Lucas about his testimony regarding Chava and the theft of the money. Lucas told Comandante Tavares exactly what he saw. Silvana mentions that Lucas' testimony matches that of another witness. It shows that Chava is innocent and he can return to work with Sofia.

Miguelina goes to Lupe's house. Lupe' gives her a glass of water to take her medicine. Lupe starts in again, "Everybody saw you laughing with Javier. But you never got involved with him?"
Miguelina says that was just neighborhood gossip. She wasn't interested in Javier and thought he must have been blind. "He had such a good looking woman at home. You are an attractive woman, Lupe'. Especially when you were younger! Besides I was busy taking care of my son who died so young."
Lupe' admits that thinking of Javier still makes her angry.
Miguelina tells her to let it go. "If you need a friend, I'm here. But if you want an enemy, forget it."

Alexa yells, "This is the last stupid thing I'm ever doing for you Alan!"  He admits that his plan is just a temporary solution, but Alexa will be saving his life. He forcibly kisses her. She pulls away and shakes her head then stalks out of the bedroom.

Even kissing a dead toad would be better than this.

Chava is outside furiously washing the car by beating it with a wet towel. Fausto approaches cautiously. He realizes the time might not be right, but he'd like to talk to Chava about what just happened.

Chava would feel much better if he whacked Pato with that towel.

Fausto admits he has his doubts about Greta's story. The whole thing is very strange, especially Greta's rush to get Sofia married. Fausto thinks that Pato has some kind of power over Greta. Chava realizes something. "You don't like Patricio either."
"Is it that obvious?" Fausto doesn't know what's going on, but he's sure none of it is good.
Chava agrees, "I would support Sofia's marriage if I thought she was happy, but she's not."

Sofia sits with Pato on the sofa, "You did something to change my mother's mind. Tell me what you did."
"I just held on and kept trying to be a good guy until she saw the truth."
Sofia doesn't believe him. "No. Something happened that made her change her mind about the pre-nup." Pato tells Sofia he won't pressure her about the wedding, but he's glad he now has Greta's support. "Your mother is an extraordinary woman."
Sofia sighs, "She's unpredictable."
Pato kisses Sofia and tells her he loves her then leaves for the office.

Sofia is in the studio getting ready to go to the office. Fausto enters. He wants to continue the talk they were having before Greta made her announcement. "You're in love with Salvador. Don't make a rushed decision. Listen to your heart."

Alan takes Greta outside to distract her with alcohol and shallow flattery. She admits that it's nice to be outside. She's been cooped up in her studio with too many suffocating memories. In the meantime, Alexa sneaks into Greta's studio. She takes a key from one drawer and unlocks another.

Alexa pulls a box from the drawer, opens it and removes the contents. She holds up the necklace. "This one is the most valuable." She wraps the necklace in a scarf, puts the box back in the drawer and locks it, then puts the key away. She looks at a picture of Greta, "This is just a loan."  She pockets the necklace and runs out of the studio.

Yeah, right. Greta will never miss it.

In the car, Sofia tries to explain the scene with Greta in the living room. She apologizes for asking Chava to leave, "I thought it would be awkward for you." Chava says she doesn't have to explain.

Alexa shows Alan the necklace. He gets excited thinking about how much it's worth. Alexa stops him. "We're not going to sell it. We're only going to pawn it. It was a gift from my father to my mother. We have to make sure to get it back." The door opens and Alan pockets the necklace. Armando comes in. "I didn't know anyone was here." He can sense something is up. Alexa says, "Hello." Alan glares at Armie.

Chava tells Sofia he doesn't want to get in the way of her happiness or get her in trouble with Pato. Sofia doesn't understand. Chava knows what he has to do. "I quit. No hard feelings." Sofia tells him to stop the car.

Armie asks, "Did I interrupt something?"
"No, no. Alan is leaving... he's taking a taxi."
"Right after I take this drink out to your mother." Alan kisses Alexa good-bye.
Armie tells Alexa that he's got a small problem. Irma is gone, Paco is sick and Nandito is out of school, so he had to bring him along. Alexa breaks into a huge smile, "You brought Nandito with you?"
Armie opens the door and Nandito comes in. He is awed by the house. "Wow! It's like a castle! And you're the Princess that lives here!" They hug. Armie smiles at Alexa, "You're great."

Sofia and Chava have pulled over at a park. She wants them to look each other in the eyes when they talk. "You're my chauffeur and I hold you in great esteem. I need you in my life. You can't quit. That's an order." Their faces get closer and closer. "What is your answer?"
Chava mumbles, "I don't know. I can't think." In the background sirens are blaring. "It's firefighters. I think you need to move the car." They glance around furtively. Then they kiss.

Amid bells, whistles and sirens, they kiss.

They move apart. "What was that, Salvador?"
"The kiss?"
Sofia stutters, "It was an... accident."
"Yes, it was an accident."
"We were looking around for the fire and our lips touched. I think we should go."
"Yes." He looks into her eyes. "We should go."

Greta tells Fausto that among his other talents, Alan makes delicious drinks! Fausto thinks it didn't take Alan long to get into Greta's good graces. Alan got there much faster than Patricio. Fausto is suspicious of Greta's sudden change of heart. Fausto wonders what secret Pato's got up his sleeve. Greta warns Fausto not to go there. He's on dangerous ground.

Dani is in Silvana's office when Lucas delivers a package. Dani doesn't understand why Lucas is suddenly so standoffish. Simple. There was a theft in the factory and she suspected him. She wouldn't want to talk to a thief.

Fausto tells Greta, "We both know your daughter isn't happy with Patricio." He wonders why she's changed her mind. She scolds him and he walks away.

Lupe talks to Paco about Javier. Paco thinks Javier was just a dirt bag. "He played with your feelings. He played with all women that way." Lupe' admits that she still gets angry about him. "Why do you still care? You should worry about Marisol." Paco warns Lupe that Marisol is interested in Miguelina's grandson, Lucas.

Marisol and Lucas talk about Dani. Marisol thinks that if Dani doesn't trust Lucas, he should dump her. She wants Lucas to tell her everything that happened. Miguelina walks up and Lucas introduces her to Marisol. She whispers, "Is she your girlfriend?" Lucas tells her that they are co-workers and that Marisol is Chava's sister. She frowns, "Lupe's daughter?"
"You know my mama?"
"Yes, I know her." Miguelina pats Lucas on the cheek and walks away. Marisol tells Lucas, "She doesn't like me. Too bad."

Sad to say, this is probably the high point of their relationship.

Lupe discovers that her dancing class is dancing without her. She is furious. FF--->>

Irma rolls her suitcase down the sidewalk. A car pulls up. Irma throws her suitcase in the back and gets in the passenger seat. She tells Martina, "I'm only going because you played me, not because I want to."

At the factory Chava sits drinking coffee. Matias says Chava looks messed up, like he needs some advice. Chava asks him, "Have you ever been a fool? Like you're in love with someone and she controls you? I'm in love with a woman I can never have."

Chava seeks advice from a homeless, single guy.

Sofia is in her office deep in thought. Silvana brings her a folder for her meeting. Sofia will get to it later. Silvana reminds her the meeting is in 10 minutes. "Do you want me to cancel it? What's wrong?" Sofia tells her that Greta changed her mind about the pre-nup.
"You don't look happy about it."
"I don't know if I want the wedding to go on. Every time I think about it my legs get all shaky."
"It's natural to have doubts." Silvana leans forward, "Are you sure you want to marry Patricio?"

Xint, fantastic recap.

Your screen shots were perfection and while it was hard to narrow my list, I loved: "He comes home to have coffee with Irma. (Not a respite if you ask me. He should go for a drink. In Miami)"; "Cry? I'll just think about life
without eye shadow and push-up bras"; "Get out the muck boots"; and "Alan takes Greta outside to distract her with alcohol and shallow flattery". My favorite was "Chava seeks advice from a homeless, single guy". Most excellent.

I certainly hope Greta wasn't too attached to that beautiful, sparkalicious necklace. I don't expect she will be seeing that lovely trinket anytime soon.

Sophia knows full well that not all is well in paradise. Greta's about face was too abrupt and as completely unsubstantiated. Of course, we are hoping Sophia doesn't go through with this charade, but if she does, certainly hope her business acumen kicks in and she insists on the prenup.

Lupe is sadly too deeply entrenched in the past. Javier's past. Good grief woman, who cares with whom and when Javier flirted? Cut your losses and move on. I would not waste one more iota of emotion on a man who didn't have the decency to even speak to his own daughted.

And Lucas. People don't forget you were a grasping little grifter oh about 10 minutes ago. Don't be so hard on Dani.

Will she or won't she? Right now, Sophia shows no signs of ending the engagement. We can only hope she will change her mind.

Marvelous recap Xint.

Diana

Diana: I've noticed that Fausto is getting suspicious of why Greta is all happy about letting Sofia marry Patrick, who only wants her $$$ and bankrupt the Ripoli family business.

Something tells me Lucas will move onto Marisol...just saying !

Hee hee, Xint, do you live in Miami? Can't think of any other reason for Diego Olivera/Armando to there for a drink! And while he's there, you can send him a few hundred miles north to Tallahassee for another drink!

I have to say that Julian Gil is a superb actor. I just hate even seeing his picture. I'm sure he must be a lovely, caring person in real life, but his roles evoke such a visceral response of disgust in me that I hate even seeing him on the screen. Whenever I see him I feel like I just bit into a tart lemon and started sucking on it.

Wonder if Irma is going to get killed? No spoiler, it just seems curious that she is going away for a few days and she has to go away permanently for Alexa and Armando to be together, assuming that is where the plot line will go.

I can't stand Lucas either, but not because he is such a great villain. He just seems wrong for the part of a 20 year old guy, especially with such dark 5 oclock shadow and he also has huge biceps. I know that 20 year old young men can fit that description, but he just seems wrong for the love interest of a young teenager. Plus, when he had that temper tantrum with Miguelina at the Ripoll house, it seemed overdone and rather hamfisted. Not really believable.

I have spoken. :)

Thank you,Xlnt, for the most excellent recap. My favorite caption was "get out the muck boots . . ." which was not just an appopriate caption for the screen cap but could have been good advice throughout the episode with so much "you know what" being slung around.

Diana, I also did not like Lucas's attitude with Dani.

Questions:

Does Armando believe that Irma is really going to visit an old girlfriend from her childhood dying from cancer? Funny he had never heard about a friend that important from her past before. He needs to wake up.

Does Alexa actually believe she will ever see the necklace again after Alan goes to "pawn" it? She can't be that stupid.

Do either Sofía or Chava think that the kiss was a mistake? Yeah, sure.

Best question: Silvana asking Sofía if she wanted to marry Patricio.

I loved Miguelina telling Lupe that Javier always had "el ojo alegre" (happy eye) which means he liked to look at women a lot.

anita:

"He just seems wrong for the part of a 20 year old guy, especially with such dark 5 oclock shadow and he also has huge biceps" made me break into an instant smile.

I always enjoy your insightful comments and have to say that I agree with everything you said about Julian Gil. I've posted similar sentiments saying I'm sure he is a very nice man, yada, yada...:)

Diana

Who do you think will be blamed for the disappearance of the necklace?
The actual thieves or our dear Chava?

Lots of negative comments about the characters Julian Gil plays. (Oh, he a sweet man in real life).
Every time I see him in a TN I was to see a remake of Sortilegio with

Julián Gil playing the blond bi-sexual. His ending, while grotesque, was quite hilarious. A vote for Julian Gil!

Thanks for another amusing and titillating recap, Xint. Your photos are well-chosen and the captions are wickedly funny.

Diana, I'm with you and Anita in your dislike of Lucas. I can easily see him being seduced into a return to the darkside by Silvana. Anita, like you, I was especially dismayed by his rude, disrespectful, and completely unwarranted outburst against his grandmother. I so enjoyed and appreciated Fausto's intervention.

I'm such a fan of the actress playing Irma... I'm holding out rather faint hope that she finds a way to become one of the good guys or, if not, at least becomes a cunning evil genius.

Carlos

ANON : 8:49:

Of course Chava will be blamed for the missing necklace. He's like the perfect scapegoat. And where did Greta put that blackmail letter? It was out in the open last time I saw it. I was hoping Fusto to find it.
carlos:

I think Irma is halfway on the dARKSIDE Already. I am hoping she puts a foot in the good side.

What kind of lady's man NEVER pulls the trigger? I'm tired of watching chava and Sophia "almost" kissing. She practically begged him to molest her on the street and he was scared. :-)

cynderella

Xlnt- Loved the recap, but especially loved the screencaps and captions. :)

Cyn- I have to agree with you about that kiss. That was the perfect time for Chava to finally let loose and take charge a bit. I am hoping Pedro F. doesn't do what he did halfway through Dinero and stop putting effort into kissing his leading lady in order to be respectful of his real life wife.

ITA with you all that Chava, who is already under suspicion for the theft at the office, will be blamed for the missing necklace-- or someone else on the staff. And will Alexa come forward with the truth? Considering her track record with the truth, I'm guessing not.

To help see Julian Gil as an actual nice person, here are some pics of him with his two grown kids, or his "bebes" as he calls them (he became a dad for the first time at 16-17):

Vivi, are you saying they're going to kill Irma off ?

Her poor kid is going to be devastated.

Steve- I didn't say anything about Irma. I think that was someone else. I sure hope they don't kill Irma, for Nandito's sake. But this writer didn't show the same mercy in Amores Verdaderos for the inconvenient spouse.

Xlnt - Thanks a bunch. Terrific recap and screenshots. The shot of Pato with his high hair and phony grin reminds me of an evil Jiminy Cricket.

I'm feeling bad for Irma. She made a mistake in the distant past and now it's coming back to bite her on the butt.

Chava and Sofia are cute together, but I have not been expecting much from them in the kissing department - and last night they proved me right. Their little happy skip the other day when Chava got out of jail had sparkle, but that almost-kiss was a total wet noodle.

Thumbs-up to Alexa's outfit with the hot pink top. She’s so terribly frustrating, letting that idiot Alan lead her around.

Can't stand Pato, but he's done nothing yet to turn me off his fineness in a suit.

I would hope that Sofia, being the smart businesswoman that she is, would notice the vehemence with which Patricio protested the pre-nup and insists on it whether Greta wants it or not. She's an adult, she's responsible for protecting the company and feels responsible for her family. That alone should make her do it. Not to mention that if that makes him give her an ultimatum, then so be it.

Vivi - Thanks for the Julián Gil pics. Now that I've seen him in a knit cap and polo shirt, I know it's not just him in a suit that strikes me.

Cris's death on Amores Verdaderos is still a sore spot. Of all the TNs I've seen, she's the only character on a losing side of a triangle that had some pride. I'm not feeling Irma as I did Cris, but I don't want Irma to go either.

I wasn't initially buying that Armando is not Nandito's natural father but with Martina's dying brother insisting on seeing Irma before he dies, what could he possibly want other than to meet his son? I see very unhappy times ahead.

Carlos

How's Armando going to react when he finds out about this development?

Alexa & Nandito bonding was cool.
