Hasta El Fin Del Mundo #40 10/10/4 Plots, Parties and Punches

Greta talks to Alan privately. Alan claims he knew nothing about Alexa taking the necklace and pawning it. Though they are a couple Alexa doesn't tell him everything. He offers to contact his family and get the money to buy the necklace back. Greta refuses his offer. She just wants Alan to keep taking care of Alexa the way he has been. The Ripoll family will get the necklace back and give Alexa money so she and Alan can go back to Spain. Greta even offers to send financial support to Alan whenever he needs it. (I have to ask: What evil creature snuck into Greta's bedroom at night and sucked out all her brains? If Pato doesn't bankrupt the Ripoll's, Alan will.)

At the factory Sofia is on the phone trying to work out a deal with Ripoll's northern distributor, Mr. Armendarez, to replace the shipment of chocolate that was lost in the truck accident. Sofia tells him they can replace the shipment in a few days, but not overnight. Amendarez gets angry and abruptly hangs up on her. Sofia can't believe it! Pato tells Sofia that she's under too much stress. Isn't it time for her to let him handle things? He'll take over for now and she can plan their wedding.

Alexa grabs Dani's cell phone to find a picture of the guy she's been seeing. Dani confesses that she's in love and very, very happy. They jump on the bed and giggle and squeeee together. Dani offers to show Alexa her photos of Lucas, but Alexa would rather wait and meet him in person.

Chava, Armando, Lucas, Matias and Cuco meet with Lupe' at Cuco's Place. She needs their help to make sure her dance show goes on. Because of her injury Lupe' can't dance the rumba to open the show like she planned. Instead.... she will teach the guys a dance number and they can start the show! Chava nearly chokes on his drink.

All of you are going to learn to shake your booties!

Sofia wants to call Amendarez back and offer him some discounts and incentives to make up for the late shipment. He's the only distributor the company has in northern Mexico and Ripoll can't afford to lose him! Pato assures Sofia that he'll take care of things.

Armie protests to Lupe' that he can't dance a step. She assures him and the others that she is a great teacher and by show time they will all be dancin' their buns off! The lady from the costume shop has picked out some great costumes for them! Lupe' tells the guys, "Trust me. Everyone will love it. You'll be great! Now line up and let's get started."

Just think of it as the first step toward a career at Chippendales.

At the office Sofia takes a break and lets down her hair. Pato and Silvana enter her office and notice the change. Everyone smiles.

Sofia lets her hair down - as well as her guard.

Lucas calls Dani and tells her about the dance show. She's dying to see him and will be there if she can get away. She hangs up and then calls her friend Annette for cover.

Pato calls Amendarez and tells him Sofia refuses to talk to him anymore because he was rude and hung up on her. Ripoll can get the shipment to him in a few days, but not overnight. No, Pato can't give Amendarez any discounts and he won't get any incentives or concessions either. "In fact, you're not the only one who can distribute our products. We don't need you. Good riddance!" Pato hangs up and smiles wickedly, "That's one less client!"

Not only that, I'll kick your dog too!

Pato tells Sofia that he really tried but Amendarez cancelled his contract with Ripoll. Pato offered him discounts and concessions, but he wouldn't go for any of it! Sofia can't believe it, "Amendarez has been a distributor since my father opened the factory! We can't afford to lose him!" Sofia's going to call him! Pato stops her, "We'll find someone else. There are hundreds of others who want our products! We'll get someone much better than Mr. Amendarez. Trust me."

Armie and Nandito get ready to go to the dance show. Before he showers, Armie asks Nandito to answer his cell phone in case Irma calls. Nandito looks at the phone and gets a great idea. He calls his Giant Girl and asks her to come to the show. Alexa is delighted! Of course she'll come! Alexa informs Alan she's changed her mind about going out tonight. Too bad she has to drag Dopey along with her.

Matias needs to hire this kid as his Wingman.

Araceli and Paco are attending the show as well. Paco cleans up nice and for once seems excited and actually looking forward to being around other people. Especially Lupe'.

Dani tells Greta she is going to Annette's house to study English. With Dani, Alexa and Alan going out for the night, Greta suddenly realizes she'll be dining alone.

Chava, Armando and Lucas peek out at the gathering crowd. Looks like it will be a full house for tonight's show. They are starting to get nervous. Lupe' tells them it's going to be the best show ever. She send them backstage to put their costumes on.

Since this is a free show we know
folks will get their money's worth.

Matias runs into Sofia's office and nearly flattens Pato, who yells at him before leaving. Matias is taken aback at Sofia's new look and tells her how beautiful she is.

This one's for you, Diana!

Matias explains that he needs to leave work for a little while, but he'll be coming right back. In the midst of his explanation his phone rings. It's Chava, who tells him to hurry up at get to Cuco's, he's holding up the show! Matias hangs up and tells Sofia that he, Chava, Armie, Lucas and Cuco are performing in Lupe's dance show. He invites Sofia to come along.

You guys are dancing? This I've got to see!

Alexa walks into Cuco's with Alan. He looks down his nose at the surroundings. What kind of crummy place is this? Alexa doesn't care, she's here to have fun. Nandito spots Alexa and runs to hug his Giant Girl. Alexa has to explain to Armie that Nandito called and invited her. Alan walks up greets Armie, "Hey, Fernando!" Nandito wants to know who the jerk is, and Armie tells him Alan is Alexa's boyfriend. Nandito is not pleased.

Dani and Annette are in the audience in disguise. Dani spots Alexa and turns away quickly. Lucas scans the crowd for Dani, but doesn't see her.

You know it's a good disguise because every normal person
wears sunglasses and a veil to a dance show at night.

Lupe' wants to start the show, but Matias still hasn't arrived. Armie tells Chava that Alexa is in the audience. Chava asks if Sofia is with her. Matias runs in and the guys head backstage. Lupe' gets onstage to welcome the crowd.

Back at the factory, Pato and Silvana are alone. He wants to talk to her about her "emotional outburst". Silvana doesn't want to talk. She tries to leave but he pulls her back.

Alexa is impatient for the show to start, Alan is squirming in his seat. Paco tells Marisol that her mother is a exceptional woman. Marisol tries to quash his interest by bringing up her father. As Lupe' introduces her show the mobster Manolo and his henchman come through the door. Alan notices him and tries to hide his face, but it's too late. Manolo has already spotted him in the crowd.

"And now here are Armando, Matias, Chavita, Lucas and Cuco!" As the music starts Sofia walks in. The guys pull off their trenchcoats to reveal the costumes beneath. They start dancing to Y-M-C-A. The crowd goes wild.

A caveman, a cowboy, a baby, a gladiator and a gay Aztec warrior.
This was a hoot! I couldn't stop laughing.

As the dance continues Sofia spots Alexa and walks over to sit with her. Alan gives Sofia his chair and goes to talk to Manolo. Lupe points out Alexa and Sofia to Paco. Dani is shocked to see both her sisters in the crowd. Araceli sees Sofia and sits back unhappily. Paco takes Lupe's hand and her shock at the gesture makes him pull his hand away. And at the door Manolo puts his arm around Alan. His henchman drag him out the door.

This isn't the dance partner Alan expected.

Pato tells Silvana she needs to control her emotions. The only thing that matters is all the money they will get when the Magnus District project is completed. Peralta is a psycho and Silvana can't blow it for them. After they are millionaires there will be plenty of time for a relationship. Pato has always been attracted to Silvana's limitless passion. He assures her they have a future together.

Sofia talks to Lupe' after the show. Sofia thought the show was incredible. Chava and Matias join them briefly, then Matias heads back to work. Alexa tells Armie that she liked him as a caveman and that he has a wonderful smile. The women dancers take the stage and start their dance. Araceli waves to get Chava's attention but he only has eyes for Sofia. They sit down at a table together. Araceli comes over and greets Sofia. Chava asks her to join them. He is happy to be with the two women who gave him back his freedom. Araceli pointedly says that it was Sofia's company that jailed him.

Matias is back at work, but he's tired and needs some coffee. He asks Maestro Coria for inspiration.

Chava takes Sofia to her car. He really hopes she is happy about getting married. Sofia mentions Araceli. She tells Chava that he and Araceli make a cute couple. Chava looks crushed.

Chava, about that third wheel...

Lupe' tells Paco that she likes Sofia. From what Paco has told her about Octavio, Lupe' thinks Sofia must be more like her mother than her father. Paco starts thinking about Greta and Lupe' has to wave to him to get his attention again.

Marisol tries to hit on Lucas but he is still looking for Dani. Marisol gives him a kiss on the cheek before she leaves. Dani finally takes her sunglasses off and speaks to Lucas. They make out next to a pillar.

Alexa hasn't seen Alan and he's not answering his phone. She has no idea where he's gone. Meanwhile, Alan is being duct taped to a chair. Manolo wants his money and he's going to get it one way or another. Alan doesn't have any more money. That doesn't matter. When the Ripoll's see what he's done to Alan, they'll pay. Alan starts to cry. Manolo's henchman start the beating.

Manolo's gonna mess up his face.
How will we be able to tell?

Dani wearing a blue wig ?

Chava, Araceli & Sofia remind me of Nikolas, Liz & Britt of General Hospital.

Xint, yet another clever, wry and witty recap. I enjoyed the episode immensely but your words and screenshots embellished and captured the sweet "Nandito... calls his Giant Girl and asks her to come to the show", the savory "Sofia lets her hair down - as well as her guard" and the unsavory "Pato hangs up and smiles wickedly, "That's one less client!" to perfection.

"Manolo's gonna mess up his face.
How will we be able to tell?" was my favorite.

And thank you so much for the divine screenshot of Matias! Seeing my telenovio crush always makes me smile - you have made my day.

Sophia's business acumen fell asleep last night. What high powered executive would turn over such a crucial phone call to their fiancee so she can run along and make wedding plans? That was so frustrating.

Paco taking Lupe's hand seemed to startle her more than us. Perhaps I'm missing something but I'm not seeing any sparks there, just a devoted frienship. Well at least he didn't run away when he saw Sophia. Of course he needs to come to terms with Greta before he can move forward. He's been harboring angry emotions for 30 plus years that will likely not be too easily resolved.

I enjoyed the show and thought the camera wisely focused on Chava's headdress rather than what appeared to be some less than impresive dancing. I have to say though that the second or two of Matias's dancing seemed to be pretty good. Of course, this is totally said without bias ;)

Dani looked adorable. I like the fact that Marisol is saucy (finger lickin proof positive), and while she seems determined to get what she wants (despite Lucas' oft repeated assertions he has a girlfriend), she hasn't done anything underhanded. The push/pull between Dani and Marisol is far more interesting than Lucas himself.

Alan knew he still owed money. Didn't it occur to him to keep a low profile? Did he really think Manolo was going to forgive the debt? He doesn't seem noble enough to hide in plain sight to avoid Manolo going to the Ripoll mansion to find him.

Xint, this was fantastic.

Diana

Diana, I'm getting a bad feeling Marisol will end up breaking up Dani and Lucas, so she can him to herself.

She's got serious ISSUES emotionally and psychologically.

Xlnt - Terrific recap and pics. Your recap was great fun.

Chava looked fine as an Aztec. I love his eyes - I think I've fallen. Lucas as a baby, not so much.

I can take Sofia being dumb in love, but not in business. Girl, wake up.

Xlnt/Kathy- Great recap of a good episode! I was surprised that Manolo followed Alan to Cuco's. I'm not sure how he's going to explain being beaten to a pulp to Greta, who really has lost all her braincells, offering up moolah to Alan like she's offering him tea.

The dance performances were fun. I think Pedro Fernandez actually dances often and quite well in his performances, so if the camera chose to focus on his face rather than his feet, I think it has more to do with the lack of beefcake than the lack of footwork. :) Cuco's muscle suit cracked me up.

Xlnt, I loved the fun recap and great screen caps. My fave caption was: "since this is a free show we know folks will get their money's worth."

Only one comment comment /question: Did Alan the Arrogant actually think that Manolo was going to forgive the rest of his debt?

Jarifa

Jarifa, is it arrogance or sheer stupidity on Alan's part? It's difficult to tell.

Diana

Diana, I agree it is difficult but I am voting for arrogance in this case. He is no genius but if it were sheer stupidity on his part, where would that put dear Alexa on the intelligence continuum? Maybe Manolo will put him in his place finally. I sure hope he does not drag his beat up old self back to the Ripoll's only to be protected and babied. Of course, Greta is so used to doing that for Alexa she probably would jump for a chance to do the same for Alan.

Jarifa

Ya know, it's sad when a teenager gets in more trouble for getting into a fight at school, than a grown woman gets for extorting money using fraud (repeatedly getting caught lying about how much her debt is and what it's for) and for THEFT of a pricey diamond necklace. But that's exactly what Greta has done! How many days was Dani under house arrest?

Excellent points, Vivi.

Jarifa

Vivi, The only reason I can think of for the difference in punishment is that Alexa is the favorite and she has panic attacks. Greta may think that punishment will push Alexa over the edge. I still don't know why Alan's debt is Alexa's problem. The debt must be huge if Manolo is willing to leave Spain and follow Alan to Mexico to collect it.

This episode was good, Monday's episode is even better. Don't miss it!

Well, let's see how much Alan has sponged off of Alexa so far (that we know of). She has maxed out her credit cards; he sold all the stuff in her apartment in Spain; three month's worth of rent (that's the lie she told Greta to get that much money then she said it was 6 month's worth); her advance from her Ripoll Girl photo shoot; and the sale/pawning of the VERY expensive diamond necklace. And they STILL haven't paid all the debt.

I also don't get while Alexa feels it's her job to pay Alan's debt.

Making a movie would be expensive. Borrowing money from a loan shark would have a huge interest rate. Maybe Alexa has Stockholm syndrome or battered wife syndrome.

Cynderella

What if getting money to make a movie is just a ruse for Alan to live his own extravagant lifestyle? I do not believe he was ever going to make a movie. I think he saw Alexa as an easy mark with money. Evidently she could not come through with enough money in Spain so he got mixed up with Manolo He made a mistake with Manolo and his manipulation of Alexa (surprisingly for him)fell short. I think he is just a conman, grifter nothing else.

Jarifa

Jarifa - Now that you've pointed out more of Alan's grifter-hood, I realize we've never seen him writing a real script or using a camera. I don't think he's even showed a sample clip of a film. All he's done work-wise is cook.

Both Alexa and Sofia are being taken to the cleaners by their men. Dani's the only sister with a decent novio. If Lucas gets sucked in by Silvie, the Ripoll clan is toast.

Thanks so much for this Xint. Very well done.

I really enjoyed the dancing exhibitions. What a lot of fun.

I was disappointed in Areceli's cattiness in reminding Chava that it was Sofía's company that was responsible for his jailing. Totally uncalled for. She's had here shot at Chava and blew it... Next!

I really enjoy Matía's enthusiasm for chocolate creation but am surprised and a little disappointed to see him using a microwave. I'd like to see a little more of the mad scientist approach (perhaps a bit like Alton Brown). A microwave? Really?

I felt sorry for Alan. With him bound to a chair with duct tape in his little short pants almost looks like child abuse.
