TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: Reina de Corazones -- PAGE TWO: week of September 29, 2014

No need to say more than that I can't wait for tonight's episode and Mauricio's recap!!

Enjoy!

Thank you, Jean.

I know I'm late commenting & this is a spillover from pg.1 , but wanted to say thanks Jean for your excellent recap! Other than the ones mentioned I also liked CIA Headquarters – We may have to rethink this cheeep thing Seriously, Navier takes those off like they're stickers.

I saw a brief llamado de sangre too! Thought that I possibly imagined it, but it was like he was happy about the mother/daughter reunion, which does seem out of character for him.

And I liked the scene when FELS tried to take Laz's phone, & Laz was like "are you crazy, get away from me" hahah made me laugh :) FELS gets his way too much for my liking

jlk

& thanks jean for page 2!

jlk

Thanks for the new page, Jean!

jlk, wouldn't it be fun to see Javier and FELS-PELS reverse roles regarding Estefi? Up to now, FELS has been frustrated because Javier refuses to squeal on Estefi. But consider:

Javier finds out how Estefi ruined his life with her lies to him and Reina and he turns against her.

Meanwhile FELS finds in Estefi his only living kin, the sister he may vaguely remember as saving his life and his only connection to a past before he was adopted by The Great Santini. (No, we don't know that FELS-PELS is adopted, but dollars to doughnuts he is.)

[This is all on the assumption that she survives whatever that was last night -- it sure looked like a pulmonary embolus to me!]

Given that gunshot wounds, poisonings and suicide attempts are recovered within 24hours, I'm sure she'll be up and about in no time! This is the women who nearly strangled a muscley goon with her ankles, remember? While trapped in a guillotine. Hahahaha! This show is loca!

jlk- the Navier, chip, stickers comment= priceless!

I love the idea of the role reversal of Navier and FELS , NovelaMaven! And if we are right that Estefi's Dad is also Reina's father, then Reina is FELS' half sister, the same way that Navier is Vic's half brother - parallels.

What on EARTH was up with that totally random scene with Juanjo and his new TechnoRodentmobile Green KIA Soul? QTH? Worst ever product placement non-advert. Ugh...

Doris--I thought it was a commercial! Bring back the TechnoRats swaying to Bailando.

Before we get involved with Thursday's capitulo, I want to go back to Wednesday's and discuss further Victor's intentions when he killed the Reina lookalike. As we saw last night, Christián, TWCILV, was perfectly willing to believe that Navier was the killer and that he did it right near the police station to thumb his nose at the police.

But what I didn't put in my recap was exactly what Victor says to the unfortunate woman after he admires how much she looks like Reina in her dress, heels and hairstyle and before he kills her:
Esta noche te voy a hacer todo lo que deseo hacerle á mi mujer pero no puedo. Esta noche tú vas a ser Reina Ortiz de Rosas.

Tonight I am going to do everything to you that I want to do to my wife but can't. Tonight you are going to be Reina Ortíz de Rosas.

So Victor kills two birds with one stone, as it were. He wants to kill Reina but he can't so he kills a lookalike and he gets to put another crime on Navier's plate.

It gives us some insight into Victor's very complicated feelings towards Reina, I guess. He loves her and he hates her.

Victor is so mentally ill and twisted, he confuses his obsession with love. There is no way he "loves" her. He is a domestic violence abuser (without physically injuring Reina) and worse.
http://www.domesticviolence.org/violence-wheel/

I just wish TWCILV Christian would take the job in NY(?) and leave. Ugh.

Jean, thanks for that very astute comment about Victor's motivation in murdering the poor man's Reina.

"It gives us some insight into Victor's very complicated feelings towards Reina, I guess. He loves her and he hates her."

Like Doris, I would take it a step further. He has these feelings toward ALL women he feels attracted to. He likes to hold a woman in a vulnerable position -- usually by the throat -- and then choose SEX or DEATH. He's done this to Estefania many times and used to do it to OBD.

[He's working out his feelings for his bad mommy, poor thing.]

He also ENJOYS killing, especially with the Injecto-Death 3000.

As for Christian, TWCILV, HIS mommy must have dropped him on his head. There is no other explanation for his being such a chump. [And please, New York has enough problems!]

Doris, like Anita, at first I thought the segment with Juanjo and his nuevo carro was a commercial. I was stunned when it wasn't followed by one of the many lawyers hawking their services. I wondered why Kia didn't run this as an ad, sort of like State Farm does with Carlo Ponce. But then I realized that the company may be aware that many of us FF through the ads. So it's all our fault. :-)

LOL and I agree with yr comment about Vic, NovelaMaven. He does have this neck holding thing. He's killed some guys with the Injecto-Death but he doesn't always do it that way - the magician, all three times that he ordered Navier's death, it was attempted by others, not him. But women, I think he really likes to kill them with the ID.

Juanita - it was definitely weird but hey no sponsors, no novela so whatever they want to do is ok with me (within reasonable limits of course), which this was barely. ;-)

Anita:

"I thought it was a commercial! Bring back the TechnoRats swaying to Bailando."

On my local station, it WAS followed almost immediately by the TechnoRats in a commercial proper.

Personally, I thought it was a hoot. Juanjo was the perfect spokesHuman. (And come on, it's not as if Lady Mary suddenly started talking up the line of ladies' delicates at Selfridge's). I admired the way the Product Placement was PLACED -- easy to cut out when they sell the novela in, say, Belgium...

Now did I hear something about a cold Dr. Pepper?

I really felt badly for Juanjo, last night, when Susana was downplaying her relationship with him to Greta. In front of him!
Yoli is a hoot. Maybe Juanjo will give her a chance.

Jueves Part 1

These Hit Man Should Rethink Their Career Choice

“Come out with your hands up” is the order heard from outside the antique shop [aka Little Shop of Horrors] as Navier and Hit Man point guns at each other. Navier tries to get the hit man to put his gun down. Hit Man orders Navier to put his gun down. Navier puts his gun down. Hit Man decides to risk it – he’s going out. Navier tries to negotiate with him. Navier will give him double or triple what they paid him. Before Hit Man has a chance to answer, Reina elbows him and gets loose. Navier shoots at Hit Man and he falls down dead. Reina screams.

Secrets, Secrets, Secret

At a hallway in the hospital, Greta and Laz talk about Estefy and secrets. Estefy had been telling Greta her story with Victor when she started to feel bad. Laz thinks it’s normal for patients to have these kinds of imbalances. Greta tells Laz she feels guilty and Laz tells her not to say that. Greta is the only one who brings Estefy happiness. Greta realizes Laz knew all along that Estefy was her bio mom and never told her. Laz tells her that he wasn’t the one who was supposed to tell her. He’s glad that she knows the truth now. He tells her that she has nothing to reprimand him for since she’s also keeping secrets. Greta says those secrets will remain buried forever.

The Red Diamond Has To Be Worth More Than One Free Week

Madame has finished her nookie with EMT. She’s been left speechless. Was it due to the nookie with the EMT? Not a chance. It’s due to the red diamond. She tells EMT he has a free week with any of her girls except her. She’ll keep the red diamond as a payment. She calls the red diamond her blessing. [If only she knew what is store for her if the wrong people find out she has it in her posession]

I Will Survive

Ponytail (Boris) pretended to be the cops. Boris has been following each and every step Navier takes. He informs Navier that there will be more hit mans coming. Each one will be better trained than the last [yeah right!]. They will not stop until their objective is fulfilled. Navier tells Boris that the man who ordered the hit died. Boris says that Gerardo probably had the support of a gang. This isn’t a one man job and Navier knows this. “Why did you choose this life?” Reina asks him. “You were an honest man” she tells him. Reina believes Navier could end up like the dead hit man. Navier is certain he won’t. It will be those who confront him that will end up like the dead hit man. If there is something that sets Navier apart from them it is that he’s no murderer. He’s a survivor. He’s certain they won’t kill him because they won’t be able to.

A Real Man

Greta and Laz are at Estefy’s beside. Laz tells Greta that everything will be alright. Greta doesn’t want to lose Estefy now that she knows that Estefy is her mother. Victor comes into the room. He wants to talk with Greta but Greta doesn’t want to talk to him. She needs time. Victor tells Greta that sometimes time can go against you but if that is what she wants. That is what Greta wants. She leaves. Laz stays behind to give Victor a lesson on what a real man is. He tells Victor that a real man doesn’t do what Victor had done to JJ. A real man fights with his bare hand. Laz leaves. Victor approaches Estefy. Estefy can hear everything and doesn’t know why she can’t speak. Victor taunts Estefy. He tells her he has her in his hands. He puts his hand to her throat and tells her that he could do what he wants to her. Estefy thoughtbubbles and begs him not to kill her.

Jueves Part 2

Yolanda Brings Tupperware

Susana tells JJ she had the worst marriage ever with Victor. It makes her shudder just to think about it. Susana is about to leave. JJ tells her to relax and tells her that he wasn’t proposing to her. He knows she was scared. He also knows that she loves him more than she thinks. He believes she’ll realize this when it’s too late because she is letting him go. Knock on door. Susana hides. It was Connie who was at the door. Connie found Yolanda standing by the door and afraid to come in. Connie pulls Yolanda inside. Yolanda holds some tupperware in her hands. She has brought JJ a homemade meal. Susana comes out of hiding.

Izzy’s Sorrows

Izzy drinks while Asuncion asks him if he knows where Victor is. Izzy doesn’t know where Victor went. Victor left without him. Izzy feels that lately he is completely useless to everyone. Asuncion can see that things aren’t going well with Connie. Izzy says that things are going just awful and the sad part is that this time he’s innocent. Poor Izzy.

A Game Of Cat And Mouse And The Queen And The Magician

Victor continues to taunt Estefy with a list of ways of how he could kill her right then and there. He won’t be killing her though because his life would become meaningless and boring without her. He leans in and kisses her on the lips. She thoughtbubbles and thanks him for letting her continue playing cat and mouse and queen and magician. Victor is leaving when FELS and Esmeeth arrive. Victor asks them if there is any news on Navier.

Please Don’t Give Him A New Name

Back at The Little Shop of Horrors, Navier and Boris look at something on a tablet. Reina reminds them that she’s there too. Navier doesn’t want to compromise her with information she doesn’t need to know. Reina tells Navier he has to abandon this diamond trafficking business. He has to go back to being who he was. He tells her he didn’t choose this path. Someday he’ll be able to tell her the whole story. In the meantime, Boris will take her home. Reina asks him if he will stay at The Little Shop of Horrors ALONE WITH THE CORPSE! He tells her that it’s less dangerous being with the dead than with some of those who are alive. He tells her not to worry about him. She can’t believe that he’s asking her not to worry about him what with all those hit man after him along with the cops and the CIA. She tells him that she’d die if anything happened to him. He tells her that nothing will happen to him. No one will find him. He tells her that Boris has a plane and new documents ready. He tells her that in a few hours he will be leaving the country. He tells Reina that Boris rented a plane under a false name. Navier could start a new life someplace else or wait until all is cleared up and get his life back. Boris suggests he do this on a Carribean beach or in an Asian island. Reina agrees that perhaps that is the best thing he could do. She tells him that she wants for him to know that she’ll agree with whatever it is that he decides to do. Navier tells her that he knows that he can’t ask her to come with him. She tells him not to ask her then. Reina tells him that she has to be with her daughter and take care of her. She has to get her daughter’s trust back.

Jueves Part 3

Pieces Of A Puzzle - A 5000 Piece Puzzle Perhaps?

FELS and Esmeeth stand in Estefy’s hospital room. Estefy finds herself trapped inside her own body. She can’t open her eyes. FELS and Esmeeth decide to talk about stuff they could have very well talked about back at headquarters. Esmeeth mentions the hit man that are after Navier and how it has to do with Belgium and the diamonds. Estefy thoughtbubbles that she has a diamond dedicated for Navier. FELS wants to understand the connection with Estefy’s family. Esmeeth would like to understand it also and be able to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Esmeeth mentions that Reina’s mother, Asuncion, was Estefy’s dad mistress. The montior starts beeping. Estefy has become deeply affected by this revelation about her father. “No puede ser!” she thoughtbubbles. Estefy opens her eyes. FELS leaves the room. I hope he went to get a doctor.

Come Back To Me My Love

Reina tells Navier to run away. She tells him that he doesn’t deserve prison and has never deserved it. She kisses him. She tells Navier she’ll leave alone because she feels safer leaving alone than leaving with Boris. Boris will follow Reina in his car anyway. Navier asks Reina not to tell anyone where he is. Reina asks Navier to come back to her when he can. Navier reminds Reina to trust no one. Reina kisses his hand and leaves. Boris follows.

Laz Pours His Heart Out And This Time Greta Stays Awake

At Estefy’s mansion, Greta tells Laz she hates leaving Estefy alone [then why did you leave her alone, Greta!]. Greta has a bad feeling. Greta apologizes to Laz for only talking about herself when Laz is clearly upset as well. She asks him if it is because of JJ. He is upset because of JJ but also because of Navier. He tells Greta that Navier is no murderer. He says Navier is a man with guts but he has codigos [codes]. He says that Navier is a good man. “You don’t know him that well..or do you?” Greta asks him. Laz replies that there are things he can’t tell her because they are not for him to tell. He says that he does know Navier very well and that Navier saved his life. He says that Navier and JJ are more than his BFF’s. They are his brothers. They both know all about him. They know his past and his weaknesses and despite everything they are with him and care about him.

Jealous Snit

Susana goes into a jealous snit over Yolanda’s vist to JJ while JJ tries to make her jealous with Yolanda. Poor Yolanda. She’s so sweet and nice.

No! Not My Dad!

Estefy tells Esmeeth that she heard them. Esmeeth tries to calm her down and tells her they’ll talk later. Estefy says that her dad only loved her mom. FELS comes in with the doctor. Doctor shoos FELS and Esmeeth out the room. Esmeeth tells FELS that Estefy heard them and believes it affected Estefy [of course it did, Esmeeth!]. FELS tells Esmeeth that they’ll talk outside. They leave the room. Outside, FELS receives a call from Reina. Reina tells FELS that she wants to talk to him about something that FELS lost and that matters to Reina more than her own life.

The Curse Of The Red Diamonds

Navier finds the info on the curse of the red diamonds while investigating at The Little Shop of Horrors. The four diamonds have to be together. The four cardinal points. Whoever posesses them will have control of time and space. But they carry with them a curse that only a queen or godess is safe from.

Jueves Part 4

Lo Que La Vida Me Robo

Estefy flashes back to the night of the massacre. Her parents are killed. She hides in between her doll collection. The murderer removes his mask before leaving. Estefy gets her brother out of the closet. Throughout the flashback we hear a voiceover from Estefy where she tells her brother that they took it all from them. Their childhood innoncence was taken from the as well as the chance to live their teenage years together. Their life was tainted with blood. Now they want to take the love they feel for their mother and father. Estefy won’t let anything be taken from her ever again.

Your Lover Was Estefy’s Dad

In the kitchen of the De Rosas mansion, Reina sneaks back in. Asucion tells Reina that the sedative did no effect on Victor. Reina tells Asuncion that Victor arrived after her and almost saw her but didn’t see her. What should she do? Asuncion tells Reina to change into her night clothes in her {Asuncion's] room. Reina tells Asuncion that Estefy’s dad is El Coyote her lover. “That’s fine but that is my past and what matters now is your future…let’s go” she tells Reina. They both leave.

Dessert In Bed. No. I’m Not The Dessert.

JJ tells Yolanda he loved the food. Yolanda tells JJ that if he wants she could bring him dessert to bed. This causes JJ to spit his drink out. Yolanda clarifies that she doesn’t want him to think that she’s the dessert. She doesn’t want him to think bad. JJ is not sure why she came. “Isn’t it obvious?” she asks him. “No” he replies. Yolanda tells JJ that she likes him alot. She leaves.

I’d Hate To Be In The EMT’s Shoes Or The Madame’s

In the study, Victor smokes his cigar as Izzy tells Victor he wanted to talk to him about JJ’s beating. Victor tells Izzy he ordererd the beating. Victor didn’t tell Izzy anything because he knows how fond Izzy is of JJ’s friend, Connie, and he didn’t want Izzy to interfere in his plans. “Sir, do you not trust me anymore?” Izzy asks. “If I didn’t trust you anymore then you wouldn’t be here you’d be in a ditch” Victor replies. Victor asks Izzy if he investigated Reina’s things like he ordered. Izzy did and there was no trace of the red diamond. Victor wants Izzy to follow the route that Estefy’s wedding dress took. He wants Izzy to investigate all the people that could have come in contact with the wedding dress. And yes that does include the ambulance people! Izzy will do this. Victor tells Izzy they’ll go rest now. It was a wonderful night and tomorrow will be even better.

I Smell Of Dragon

Victor finds Reina taking herself some tea to her room. Reina is in her night clothes. Reina doesn’t want to argue with Victor. She’s tired. Victor sniffs Reina and tells Reina it isn’t her perfume. “Who do you smell like?” he asks her. She replies that she smells of Navier. She tells Victor she put on his perfume and laid down in bed with a photo of him and some clothes that he left there. She tells Victor that she imagined making love to Navier. She tells Victor that it was amzazing and can’t stop thinking about it. “Was that what you wanted to hear?” she asks him. Victor knows Reina was with Navier and tells Reina to take it as a goodbye. Reina leaves.

Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas

A small detail: What is up that shot of Elvis walking near the Las Vegas sign that we see all the time? Don’t they have another exterior shot?

CSI: Las Vegas

At LVPD, Christian has a photo of the woman Victor killed on his computer. He talks on the phone and says he has the address and is on his way.

I’m The Boss Too You Know

Esmeeth enters forensics and tells Dr. Moto she wants to see the note the hit man left near the corpse. The corpse of the hit man is there. Dr. Moto hands her the note. The note says “I’m a hit man and I wanted to kill Javier Bolivar.” Lame note if you ask me. Dr. Moto tells Esmeeth that she should have told FELS. Esmeeth tells Dr. Moto that she’s the authority also and doesn’t have to ask for permision.

Jueves Part 5

I Know About The Curse

Boris tells Navier he took care of the corpse as Navier asked. Boris didn’t think it was convenient...Naver interrupts him and doesn’t let him finish. “What else?” he asks Boris. Boris tells Navier that he has everything ready to take Navier to the San Diego airport. Navier will take a plane there that will take him out of the country. Navier will have no problems. Navier tells Boris he has to do other things before he leaves. He asks Boris if he brought him what he asked. Boris did and hands him the bag he was carrying. Navier asks Boris if he knew about the legend of the red diamonds. Boris did. Boris tells Navier that Big O had two of the diamonds and was bent on having all four diamonds before the year was up. Big O did nothing but talk about the diamonds but he had to give them away. Boris doesn’t know who he had to give them too but the day he finds out who he had to give the diamonds too that person won’t live to tell.

He’s STILL Talking About Navier

Laz is STILL talking about Navier. Laz tells Greta that Navier gave his life for him and he’d give his life for him. Loyalty is important for Laz. Navier is the most loyal friend Laz has ever met. And it’s not easy to make friends in prison. It makes Laz mad that Christian has it out for Navier. Greta says that maybe she could help. She says that maybe it’s time for her secrets to come out. I smell blackmail.

Just Leave Me Alone!

Victor enters Reina’s room and asks her if she liked dressing up as Asuncion the night before. He tells Reina to quit pretending to be asleep because he knows she’s awake. Reina says she has no clue what Victor is talking about. Victor knows Reina left the mansion the previous night pretending to be Asuncion. He tells Reina that he won’t fire Asuncion because he is kindhearted and won’t punish Reina because he has other plans for her. Reina asks Victor to leave her alone. Victor tells Reina that her begging is just starting and the best is yet to come.

Raise Your Hand If Your Prefer The Rodents

JJ is all smiles over the new KIA he has bought. “New car, new life” he says as he drives off.

Jueves Part 6

Sometimes BFF’s Can Be So Clueless

At LVPD, Victor tells Christian that he doesn’t know what other shady businesses his little bro could be involved in. Christian will get to the bottom of this. He tells Victor that Navier will pay if he is responsible. Victor tells Christian that he is ashamed to tell him this but Reina and Navier had an affair. Christian is surprised to hear this. Victor tells Christian that Navier took advantage of Reina in her moments of weakness due to her memory less. Victor tells Christian that Navier seduced Reina and later abandoned her to marry Estefy for money. Victor tells Christian that Navier has an excessive thrist for ambition. Naver wants money and power. Christian tells Victor that with what he told him there is a death that has another meaning. Christan shows Victor the cross and says that there is a corpse that Navier might be responsible for. Victor tells Christian the cross belongs to Reina. Christian knows the cross belongs to Reina. The corpse of the woman was found two blocks from the police station and had on the same dress as Reina. Victor asks Chrsitian what Navier has to do with all this. Christian says that Navier is a fugitive and that this happened so close to the police station. Christian says that Navier is provoking them. Victor doesn’t want to hear more. He tells Christian that if he told him all this it’s becaue of their friendship and because he knows Christian will be prudent. Victor says that he forgave Navier because he is his little bro and he forgave Reina because he loves her. Victor decided to give them a second chance. Christian says he understands because you can forgive Reina anything. Victor looks at Christian. “Umm I say it because she’s the woman you love” says Christian. Christian gets a text and says he has to leave. He tells Victor not to hestistate calling him if he hears anything about Navier. Victor won’t hestitate at all. He tells Christian that if Navier is a murderer and a diamond trafficker like his father than let him rot in prison.

Dragons Can Take Care Of Themselves

Dr. Moto asks Esmeeth if she suspects that Navier left the corpse there so they could investigate. “It could be, it makes sense” replies Esmeeth. Esmeeth says that it is another hit man that Navier got rid of. Esmeeth says that the list goes on and Navier is alone. Dr. Moto says that Navier knows how to take care of himself and that FELS won’t sacrifice Navier. Esmeeth knows how this job is and for the first time she’s afraid. There are a lot of people that want Navier dead and there are only a few people that would give their life for Navier. Esmeeth leaves.

Reina Asks For Help

In the study, Reina meets with FELS. She tells FELS that she wanted to see him because she’s desperate. She needs for FELS to help her and Navier. FELS asks Reina if she knows where Navier is.

Have You Ever Seen A Preist Wear A Baret?

Navier disgusied as a priest with glasses and a baret enters Estefy’s hosptial room. His curls are still in sight.

Susana Has An Ooops Moment

Susana visits JJ. She’s still in a jealous snit. She asks JJ if Yolanda is a better lover than she. She comes into the house and is cara de oops when she sees Greta and Laz there. “Lovers?” Greta asks.

Reina Wants To Join The CIA

Reina tells FELS she doesn’t know where Navier is. FELS thinks Reina called him and asked him to come over to lie to him. Reina tells him he had him come over to ask him for a second chance. This time she’ll do everything possible to put Victor behind bars. She’ll be his best agent.

Jueves Part 7

He Knows It Was You Because He Saw The Curls

Estefy wakes up. “It’s me” he tells Estefy. He tells Estefy he had to come. Estefy tells him she loves him. Victor enters the room. Navier has his back to Victor. Estefy tells Victor that she is with Padre Callao and needs to speak to him. Victor leaves. Estefy tells him that it’s crazy that he’s here. Navier says that it was crazy for her to have risked her life for him. Estefy tells him that she’d give her life and her blood and everything for him. Navier kisses her on the forehead and promises her that soon she will have news from him. He tells her to take care of herself from everything and everyone. She tells him to be careful when he leaves. If Victor sees him...Navier says that Victor doesn’t need to see him to know it was him. He already knows. Outside the hospital room, Victor makes a call.

Is It Sacriligeous To Pretend To Be A Preist?

Meanwhile Christian is with Connie at LVPD. He tells Connie it was nice to know that she was waiting for him. They enter his office. His phone rings. Christian takes his time to answer the phone. Victor tells Christian that he knows where Navier is. He tells Christian to have his men come down to the hosptial and to ask for Padre Callao. He says Navier is disgused as a preist. “It’s sacriligoues, right?” says Victor. Christian tells Victor to infrom the cop he has on guard over at the hospital. Christian leaves.

They Will Come To Me Like Bees To Honey

Reina tells FELS she needs training. She already knows how to fight and use a gun. Still, Reina wants more training. She now has a new stimulus - helping Navier. She needs to help Navier now that she knows that Navier is Clara’s father and that she never betrayed him and always loved him and still loves him. FELS believes Reina knows where Navier is. Reina thinks back to Navier asking her to trust no one. FELS says they will give Reina more training. FELS says the question here is why is she now determined to get the evidence that she wasn’t able to get before. Reina says because now she has something powerful. She has something that everyone wants. She has something that provokes madness and damnation. She says that now they’ll all come to her like bees to honey. She tells FELS that she has a diamond and that it will be with that diamond that she will trap them all.

These Cops Must Have Graduated From DeVry

Navier runs into the cops and Victor signals him out. Navier runs. Cops chase him. Navier knocks out one of the cops and disarms him. He runs.

Oh Susana!

Susana apologizes to Greta. She didn’t want her to find out. She’s ashamed. Greta could have never imagined it. Greta asks Laz if he knew. It wasn’t Laz’s place to give his opinion. He doesn’t think it is Greta’s place either. Susana thinks Greta does have a right to have an opinion because she is her daughter. Susana says that she knows Greta is probably embarrased about this fling she had with JJ but it meant nothing. JJ says that it meant something to him. Poor JJ.

The Diamond Is The Key To Trapping Victor

FELS is mad that Reina has a diamond and didn’t hand it over to him. Reina thinks the diamond will save her and Clara. He asks her how she got the diamond and Reina tells him that Estefy had it the day of her wedding in her wedding dress. She says Estefy stole the diamonds from her. FELS says he can assume that she has two diamonds. Reina says that she only has one but according to Lopez 2.0 it seems that the other diamond is missing. FELS says that there are four diamonds and tells Reina about the curse. Reina says that the curse must have fallen on Estefy. FELS doesn’t believe in curses. Reina does believe in curses. Reina says that what matters now is that the diamond will be the key to trapping Victor. She asks FELS if he will help her or not.

Recap is up! Apologies for taking so long.

Wonderful, funny recap, Mauricio. I've been hitting the refresh key over and over 'til it all came up. Your titles are great - my favorites:

Please Don’t Give Him A New Name

The Red Diamond Has To Be Worth More Than One Free Week

Did you see Esmeeth take the letter out of the evidence bag with her bare hands?

Navier as a priest with those silly glasses and the beret was hysterical. Of cource, Victor recognized him - who wouldn't with the curls in view?

Mauricio - No apologies necessary - quality is worth waiting for and we all have jobs and other obligations that interfere with posting recaps.

Let's make a list of the things that the CIA knows that they haven't told their agent, Navier, out in field dealing with hitmen and psychopaths:

1. That Reina didn't betray NN (Esmeeth told him this but not "officially");
2. That Clara is his daughter;
3. That Estefi lied to him about Reina;
4. That there supposedly is a curse on the red diamonds (FELS told Reina about the curse so he knows about it but Navier had to find about it in the Little Shoppe of Horrors. (It doesn't matter that FELS doesn't believe in curses - he still should have told his agent that people believe there is a curse on the diamonds);
5. That Asunción's lover was El Coyote, Estefi's father, and
6. That the CIA planted diamonds in Reina's place of business to blackmail her into working for the CIA.

Mauricio - Thank you for the recap clever section titles, and the snark. My favs ---
”The Red Diamond Has To Be Worth More Than One Free Week”
(Really!)
”Pieces Of A Puzzle - A 5000 Piece Puzzle Perhaps?”
”Laz Pours His Heart Out And This Time Greta Stays Awake”
Hahahaha!

Oh, and I totally thought that “I am a hit man…” note was completely lame, too. Did the writers go on break and Mrs. Jones’ eighth grade English class write that?

How much do we want to bet that the two red diamonds that Big O had to give up were given up to Reina due to blackmail?

My LOL moment last night was Javier’s priest “disguise.” Those glasses---blerk!

That Elvis impersonator walking up to the Las Vegas sign was the very first part of the entrada of the very first episode. After that, they took it out and only show it occasionally. Maybe they have to pay the Elvis guy royalties.

Mauricio, thank you so much for this remarkable and remarkably funny recap. I especially like the reference to Lo que la vida me robó. I've thought of that novela every time we see a KIA in this one.

[For those of you who missed Robó, there was a Toyota Tundra -- with Texas plates!!!! -- that we came to see as another character in the story.]

So Victor WAS responsible for the not so JOLLY BLONDE GIANT and his only slighter smaller pal who beat up on Juanjo. Does that mean that Victor is allied with the Belgian Waffles?

And if the Belgies had giant waffles on their team, why did they send the Kid-sized pancake plate to take down Navier? Hah. Even a GIRL could overpower that runt!

Speaking Girl Power, I've been meaning to mention for some time --

Reina is the first novela heroine I can recall who has the physique of a marathon runner or maybe a champion tennis player. What a refreshing change.

Another great recap, Mauricio. There's certainly NO need to apologize. The recap was well worth waiting for (and the wait wasn't all that long).

I enjoyed your headings, perhaps especially "Raise Your Hand If Your Prefer The Rodents." I also liked "They Will Come To Me Like Bees To Honey," but when I first read it, I thought it referred to all the hit men and police who were chasing after Navier! Cara de oops de mi.

NovelaMaven Was there something that suggested that Juanjo's attackers were Belgian? They didn't say a word. They did seem a lot larger than the goons that Izzy gets for him but I assumed that was just for the effect of the mismatch between JJ and them. Izzy's goons also wear masks all the time sometimes for no reason. When they were going to kill Navier the most recent time, why were they wearing masks if he was going to end up dead and it wouldn't matter if he saw their faces.

I can really appreciate all of the time and effort you put into your recaps Mauricio, it really shows.
and you seem to have captured it all.

hmm, an old scene that keeps popping up for me is when Esmeeth took the fake diamond found in the dead guys stomach to Victor's office and confronted him, at which time Victor casually picked up a little black bag and showed her similar diamonds,

this left me with so many questions

first off Esmeeth just kind of left (not sure if she took the fake with her or what happened to it)
second, did she think Victor's diamonds were fake/real, and to add to Jean's nice list, do they know Victor has two of the diamonds, but Supremo thought Reina should have two, this implies that he knows about all four and that Estefi only had two, and now I can't remember if Javier knows about all four, but Reina did tell him once about the two she had in the bank, didn't she?

but anyway Esmeeth seeing Victor with two of them, and then doing nothing, is really throwing me.

Jean,

"Was there something that suggested that Juanjo's attackers were Belgian?"

No, I just assumed that they were from their appearance -- gûeros, cornfed, no masks or dark clothes. (The sniper in the church was a blond too.) Also, everyone else assumed that Victor had sent them, but Juanjo himself seemed to have some reservations about that, as if he suspected the Belgians but couldn't betray Javier's trust by voicing his suspicions.

Recappers you have the best wit lol lol lol.

Mauricio, thanks so much for the terrific recap!

I'm not sure why we're thinking the guys who beat up Juanjo were Belgian. Victor clearly told Izzy that he arranged it. I didn't think he had the same European connections as his father. BTW I loved when Laz basically called him "Oh, ye of pocos cojones. But it always makes me nervous when someone gets in Victor's face.

About time for some tougher Reina!

NovelaMaven, I really appreciated your astute comment about Victor:

Like Doris, I would take it a step further. He has these feelings toward ALL women he feels attracted to. He likes to hold a woman in a vulnerable position -- usually by the throat -- and then choose SEX or DEATH. He's done this to Estefania many times and used to do it to OBD.

[He's working out his feelings for his bad mommy, poor thing.]

Mauricio--Haven't had time to stop and thank you for the wonderful blow-by-blow recap. Interesting episode. Meant to set us up for the rest of the run, maybe? So many secrets coming to light.

Jean--thank you for the CIA secrets list. We have two more to add to the Minor Characters Body Count list. I'm sure there will be more.

Loved our Dragon's disguises, but the priest takes the cake. It goes straight into the Wisdom of the Dragon (which was easier to create than I thought).

Novelera,

I'm not sure why we're thinking the guys who beat up Juanjo were Belgian.

WE are not. The above is strictly a NovelaMaven Crackpot Theory that probably falls into Doris's Colander Variation (full of holes).

Thanks Mauricio for your recap, your skills are always appreciated! My fave subtitle was Please Don’t Give Him A New Name Even the character aren't sure what to call him sometimes!

NovelaMaven, I can't wait for Navier to find out about Estefy. And that would be so interesting if there was a role reversal with FELS. Especially since FELS seems to have more of an obligation towards his job, and Navier thinks he's a hire-per-assignment CIA operative, of his choosing of course.

I love to watch Reina stick it to Victor, but I'm not the one who has to live with him. She seriously underestimates him.

Juanita, "They Will Come To Me Like Bees To Honey," but when I first read it, I thought it referred to all the hit men and police who were chasing after Navier! Cara de oops de mi. LOL! Seems to apply to Navier as well haha

Best part was watching Navier in his priest disguise. At least he understood how weak it was.

jlk

Also, if I was JuanJo I would wash my hands of Susanna. He totally deserves better. And I detest how Susanna acts subservient to Greta.

jlk

Javier's hipster artist priest disguise gave me the best laugh I've had in ages! Seriously ..lliteral LOLs.

During all the conversation and nookie in Wednesday's episode, did Javier ever say to Reina that he loves her? She was all over him with her declarations but I don't think he said much, at all. ( well, except 'want to see my tattoo?')

Does anyone else recall if he did? Unfortunately, Wednesday's episode has been erased so I cannot verify . . . I seem to remember he was a bit neutral.

Doris, I remember him saying I love you too, my Reina.

Thank you novelera. I feel better now. :-)

Recap is almost ready. It'll be better with morning coffee.

Viernes - Parte 1

Top Dog Behaves Himself
The scene opens with the continuation of the meeting PFELS was having with Reina. Of course he will help her. He wants Victor behind bars as much as she does. Reina also wants, maybe, Stefi, too? She took Reina’s diamonds out of the strong box at the bank. PFELS is already on it. She then tells him everything about the Asunción-Stefi-Gregorio Perez connection, which of course, being top dog at the CIA, he already knows. He lets her go on. Gregorio Perez destroyed her family.

Father Quiet-ly Avoids Capture
Sweet young Padre Callao [great play on words, here—callao is a regional or country pronunciation of callado=quiet] has hastily entered a random patient’s room. She’s conveniently sitting in a wheel chair being attended by a hospital assistant. He motions the attendant into another room, maybe the bathroom. An officer chasing Javier comes in to check the room but ends up on the floor as the Dragon, now dressed in the attendant’s scrubs, has come out and bonked him on the back of the head (presumably the hospital attendant was also bonked). Javier backs the terrified patient out of her room and tells her to calm down, they are just going for a stroll in the fresh air. He parks her on the front steps of the hospital and high-tails it out of there. Javier commandeers a car from someone just pulling up to the curb of the hospital and peels out.

TWCILV is hot-trotting by foot on his tail. Cristian and his men start shooting recklessly at the vanishing car, endangering the public. They give chase by car, but miss him as the Dragon has exchanged the little silver sport-like sedan for a chauffeur-driven full-size, non-Kia, black four-door sedan. It’s Boris to the rescue—the Reliable Belgian Un-Waffler, always in the right place at the right time. Cristian checks out the empty escape vehicle. Standing there, fuming, he wonders what to do next. Whatever it is, doesn’t bode well for Javier. Above all, he doesn’t like to be made a fool …of. [Sorry, these loose prepositions just don’t fit within the body of a sentence anymore without making it unwieldy.]

It’s All Over Now
Susana is with Greta, trying to finish explaining her relationship with Juanjo. Greta wants to know if the baby she had been expecting was his. Susana just looks at her. Greta doesn’t recognize her. Susana has a hard time recognizing herself. Greta wants to know what she did to produce that little jealousy scene at Juanjo’s place. She sees the way Susana looks at Juanjo, and it certainly isn’t the way she ever looked at Victor. She assures Greta it’s all over now. Even though Greta has another mother now, she’s going to dedicate herself 100% to Greta (poor Greta, poor Juanjo).

Reading for Pleasure
Asunción is in the kitchen catching up on the Perez past history from the tabloid archives on her tablet. She sees the headline featuring a well-known porn-star, our own Stefi and the massacre in Bogotá. Izzy walks in and catches her, teasing her about her interest in the subject matter. She storms out, snippily reminding him he has no right to ask her questions.

One Random Thought Bubble
In her forensic lab, Dr. MonteMoto pulls a bullet out of a body and says to herself, “I need to know who killed you, where, and why.”

Confession Was Not on His Mind
Stefi is dozing, propped up in her hospital bed, but wakes as Victor walks in (a sixth sense perhaps?). She immediately quizzes him—she wants to know what he did ---- “Oh, I can see the priest who came to give you peace wasn’t able to,” sneers Victor, adding, “did you confess your sins to him? Stefi replies, “My sins can’t be confessed, same as yours.” Victor reminds her she has everything, looks, wealth, she could have had a real man at her side instead of an assassin. Stefi replies, “In this story there are only 2 assassins, you and me.” “Oh, really,” sneers Victor again, “the police are at this moment looking for your husband and not us.”

Viernes – Parte 2

Lady in Blue
Smeeth is in the office she “shares” with PFELS, looking at the computer screen. It features the upper part of a woman with long black hair and blue clothing. She’s dead. Dr. MonteMoto comes in to tell her she knows where the latest sicario was killed. It was in the…wait for it…The Little Shoppe of Horrible Antiquarian Chandeliers, Javier’s last hiding place. Smeeth wants her to see this new photo. The victim is now in the hands of the local police. She shows the doc the small diamond-shaped puncture marks on her neck. [We know they were left by the Injecto-Death 3000. Reina’s cross necklace on the victim is visible.] Smeeth avers this will be another obstacle to Bolívar getting cleared of charges.

He Loves Her, He Loves You Not
PFELS is still with Reina and assures her they will be in contact. Izzy sees him leave and wants to know what that man wanted. Reina says it’s the same old, same old, asking questions. And, Izzy wants to know if she gave him the answers he needed. She’s saved by the phone ringing. She answers. It’s Victor. Victor delights in telling her of her BIL’s latest escapade at the clinic. Javier was there for LOVE, all for love, dressed up as a priest to get in to see Stefi. He digs the knife in deeper, Javier loves her, sincerely, whereas with Reina it was all for sex, nothing more. He hangs up on her without waiting for her reaction. He smirks contentedly, knowing how it hurt her.

Yolanda is a Better Cook
Susana has come to visit Stefi in the hospital and is getting thanked effusively for everything she’s done for her. Susana tells her if she needs anything, she’s there for her. Stefi has another favor to ask, please find out from the nurses what went on in the clinic. Javier came to see her and Victor saw him and maybe turned him in to the police. When Susana doesn’t think he would do something like that, Stefi says that for heaven’s sake, as long as she was married to him, she ought to know he was capable of that and much more. Apparently Susana went and got the skinny on the caper. At least Javier got away. Susana lets go of the fact Greta found out about her relationship with Juanjo. It was accidental, totally her own fault. She got jealous when Yolanda showed up at Juanjo’s with a home-made meal, probably from Stefi’s larder. Of course, she and Juanjo are very “different” and he is not for her—even though he drives her crazy when she sees him, he’s brave and suffered the consequences for standing up to Victor for her. Victor then sent some goons to beat him up. Stefi chides her for just standing around doing nothing.

Boris is an All-Around Useful Guy
Boris is driving. He’s using a regular cell phone and not a hands-free instrument to talk to someone who is making the arrangements for Javier to leave that night. Boris wants him to stay out of sight, but Javier needs to get messages to Laz and Juanjo. He instructs Boris to take the messages. Boris doesn’t want to, but accedes to his jefe’s request. [Note: for a Belgian, he speaks Spanish fluently and without an accent—like a native. Maybe he was a special Octavio transplant and Mexican. He just happens to have a common Russian name for gangsters.] Javier is sad that the only person he won’t be able to say goodbye to is Clara.

Juanjo is drowning his sorrows in a couple of swigs of beer back at Stefi’s mansion. He commiserates with Laz that Susana dumped him, in front of his friends. It’s all over. Laz can’t comfort him. Juanjo should know how much social position means to Susana. Doorbell rings. The “Doctor” comes him. He needs to see Laz. Laz doesn’t remember him. He yells for Yola to call security. Boris announces he is really there with an important message from Javier. Yes, El Dragon. Laz says they need to see him in person because Greta has some information that could change everything.

Viernes – Part 3

Damsel Dragons Do Not Cry
There is a what at first seems like a tender scene with Reina and Clarita sitting on the couch. Reina is trying to help Clara as she draws her latest illustrations for her book of dragon stories. They seem to be getting along, but no, Clara is ignoring her even while Reina contributes to the story line. She doesn’t think lady dragons cry. It lasts all of 60 seconds because Smeeth arrives, followed by Asunción, who let her in. Clara jumps up and greets (grandmother) Smeeth politely with a kiss and then goes off with (grandmother) Asunción because she’d rather be with her since she’s bothered by being here. [When is all this going to END, for heaven’s sake. This cruelty of Victor’s is killing me.]

Smeeth tells Reina it was true, Javier went to the clinic in a disguise, but he got away. It makes his situation all the more complicated. Reina learns about the body of the woman with diamond marks on her neck and the cross necklace—Reina’s necklace, or rather Smeeth’s. Does Reina remember the last time she had it on? It would be very important. [Well we know, don’t we, we saw Victor palm it.] Cristian will surely use it against Javier. Smeeth gets a phone call from Doc MonteMoto and they found out Javier had been in the Little Shoppe of Horrible Antiquities.

TWCILV Needs All The Help He Can Get, Even Victor’s
Cristian is still fuming, pacing around his office. Victor is waiting patiently for TWCILV to vent—and increase his ire towards Javier. Someone must be helping him, surely. Of course, says Victor, twirling his invisible moustache. Cristian should start by looking for Javier as Nicolas Nuñez. Victor spins his tale of half truths, no make that three-fifths lies. This same NN, convicted of drug dealing and incarcerated had seduced his precious, innocent, daughter, Camila. NN probably only returned to seek vengeance. True, Camila wasn’t his biological child but had loved her as if she were. Along comes NN and plays with her feelings, ruined her, this good girl, innocent, a veritable angel….(as Cristian’s eyes glaze over remembering the REAL Camila as the little vixen she was in reality, we share his Flashback to his and Camila’s dalliance.)

Victor begs Cristian for help, to put this guy away. TWCILV wants to know where this NN came from. Victor doesn’t know, a valet parking attendant, a nobody with a turbulent or troublesome (turbio) past. “He’s dangerous,” Victor goes on, “I don’t want him near my family; he got involved with my wife, with my daughter. He’s capable of anything.” Cristian promises that in the memory of Camila he’ll assume the burden—just as Reina enters to protest Javier’s innocence of the murder of that woman last night in the florist shop. Cristian wants to know how she could possibly know it didn’t happen the way it did, the woman dressed in her clothes and her cross around her neck. Reina retorts he had no need to dress a woman like that because last night Javier was actually with her. Cristian, of course doesn’t believe her, she’s just making it up to help Javier, but is surprised when Victor backs up the likelihood of her story as being true. Cristian will definitely have her testify, but certainly did not expect that kind of behavior from her (conveniently forgetting how he cheated on his wife with a minor). Well, Vic says, nothing about Reina surprises him and he leaves. Cara de impactada de Cristian.

Cristian isn’t finished with Reina yet. He wonders how could she hurt Victor like this. Reina tells him not to talk concerning things he knows nothing about. Aha, he knows more than she thinks he does. Before her accident, she would never have been unfaithful (surely remembering Reina rejecting his advances).

Viernes – Part 4

End of Endlessly Looping Flashback (We Hope)
Juanjo is waiting with Greta for Laz to arrive with Javier. Javier is sure no one saw him; he hid in the trunk of a car. [It couldn’t have been Juanjo’s sickly green Kia because it has no trunk.] Greta tells her story. The one that Cristian was just reliving. She’s surprised Javier knew Camila at all. He reveals to her he is actually Nicolas Nuñez, so he knew her very well. He tells her his side of the story off camera.

Greta knows exactly how Camila first met Nicolas and how she deceived him. Nicolas was not the first or only man in Camila’s life. Flashback:
Javier during his valet parking lot days, meets Camila parking her car. She introduces herself and asserts a few seconds later to her girlfriend that he’s muy guapo and he will be hers. End Flashback.

She continues with the story of Cristian’s relationship with Camila and its aftermath. Cristian has a lot to answer for. He was married, this was his best friend’s minor daughter, his own godchild.

Then there is a flashback of the whole sequence of events—
Camila and Cristian rolling in the hay; Mirtha catching them; Camila taunting Mirtha that she doesn’t excite Cristian and he only makes love with her out of obligation; Mirtha telling Camila she’s not Victor’s child; she’s the child of a psycho, perverted monster; a child Susana never wanted, and Camila will turn out just like him; Camila getting mad and seeing Camila hitting Mirtha; Mirtha striking her head and becoming DEAD. End flashback.

Javier learns Cristian was an accomplice (presumably by arranging the body to look like an accident). He is grateful for Greta being able to share that information with him. His next step will require their help and Connie’s.

Reina in the Sky With Diamonds
Meanwhile, Reina is taking out her frustration with her life, Javier’s, the diamonds, the curse, etc. on Connie and Connie is equally frustrated by having the Red Diamond Affair thrust on her. Reina goes on. Victor was furious. “Of course,” says Connie, “what did you expect, you just cuckolded him in front of his friend.” Reina replies angrily that Victor already knew about that, a long time ago. He feigns innocence and lies. It’s his favorite pastime. Their lives are built on fakery and deceit. And then there’s Cristian. What did she do to him. He makes her uneasy, what is it about him, anyway. Connie decides to fill in her memory gap. First, he was Camila’s lover and then fell in love with Reina, but Reina wouldn’t have anything to do with him.

Izzy Has Not Finished His Big Job
Vic is back home and complaining to Izzy that Reina isn’t back yet. She has no idea who she’s playing with. Izzy on the other hand, has good news for Victor. He’s picked up some leads on the Red Diamond. Vic tells him to get busy and Izzy leaves. Immediately, Vic whips out his phone and pretends to be talking to Reina about his strong objections to sending Clara away to boarding school—very strong objections. Ah, we see now, Clara is walking into the room and is within ear shot. Vic goes on and on with his (faked) objections—he can’t abide the idea of her being so far away from him, he wants Clara near him…..”Oh, Clarita, I didn’t know you were there. You heard everything? I’m so sorry. Come here. I love you,” while she nestles in his embrace, his face says the complete opposite.

Viernes – Part 5

A Bad Wind Blows Cristian in Smeeth’s Door
Smeeth is reviewing documents in the office. She looks tired. She permits Cristian to enter. He’s furious because his further investigations have uncovered the fact that Javier, aside from being her son, is and undercover agent for the CIA. Smeeth’s look on her face gives nothing away. She’s probably thinking quick on how to handle the situation. The first line of defense is to deny—his source of information is wrong. Ha! It doesn’t matter how many times she denies it, he, TWCILV, has figured it out. How he got out of prison, how the false NN appeared, it all fits. What he can’t figure out, getting closer to her, is why did he infiltrate his brother’s house. Is it personal or professional? It’s not his business, Smeeth replies with all the aplomb she can muster. She looks up at him and says, “What do you want to be, a traitor to your country? Are you disposed to expose a secret agent in service to his country out of pride to put another notch on your gun?” [My words, not hers, but you get the point.] She continues, “Are you thinking about the consequences of your actions?” [Lordy, as an officer of the law, he’s slow on the uptake, here. OTOH, what does it say about information security at CIA Headquarters that he found this out so easily. Is there a personnel roster on the internet?] He glowers at her and says he knows exactly what he’s doing and walks out just as PFELS walks in.

He wants to exchange whatever the latest ‘intel’ is. Smeeth’s ‘intel’ isn’t good. [Note: this scene was left hanging; maybe we’ll find out on Monday.]

The Plan
Laz has called Connie with the plan. Why her? She’s afraid she’ll give it away. She’ll do it and not just for him. Reina wants to know what it was all about. Connie says it’s a secret, so sit down and she’ll tell Reina right away. Cristian is going to come to the house. Reina is to hide and for no reason whatsoever is she to show herself, no matter what she hears going on.

The Last Meal
Poor EMT Guy is getting ready to have a sandwich, all alone in the sorry little one-table lunchroom/locker room. It’s probably the last sandwich he’ll ever have before being added to the RdC body count. A gun appears at his neck. It’s Izzy. He wants to know about the Red Diamonds and not to pretend he doesn’t know anything about them. He talks or he kills him where he sits. PEMTG gives it up. Izzy calls Victor for further instructions. Victor is de acuerdo and Izzy conks PEMTG’s head down on the table, knocking him out.

Come Back Little Lopez 1.0
Stefi is grilling Lopez 2.0, ordering him to get her diamonds back and help Javier. He doesn’t seem to be able to do either. He’s useless. Stefi would like to have Lopez 1.0 back.

Miscellaneous
In a throwaway scene Asunción comes to see Stefi and talk about their mutual acquaintance, Gregorio Perez. They play one-upmanship over who was more important in his life. Asunción really just wants to know what happened to Stefi’s little brother. [Maybe now a big strapping 6’2” bearded, Tall Mysterious Agent?] Stefi tells her that after they were separated, she never saw or heard of him again. We do learn that Asunción was an adolescent when she got involved with Gregorio, even though Stefi doesn’t believe it. She didn’t know he was married or had a family. He talked a lot about his children. She was left alone and later, she married Reina’s father. Stefi dismisses her.

Viernes – Part 6

More Miscellaneous
In another throwaway scene, a long one, Victor is enduring a visit from his ex-wife Susana. He’s making fun of her relationship with Juanjo, while disavowing any hanky-panky while he and Susana were married. He wants to know if she and Juanjo have slept together. She hesitates, then says, yes. Victor is sure she has a lot to teach him, after all he’s so much younger than she is, but cautions her to be careful of these young guys, they always want something more. He tries to make her recall the good times they had in bed and suggests maybe she’d like to try him on for size again. [Sorry, my thoughts, not his words.] She rebuffs him with a slap and leaves.

Even More Miscellaneous
In another throwaway scene, Laz is helping Roman do his math while Greta and Juanjo are talking together in Stefi’s mansion. Laz and Juanjo change places so Laz can find out what Juanjo and Greta were chit-chatting about. With a sly look on her face, she tells Laz she wants to have a baby with him. Only that, he asks, with his sideways smile. They kiss on it.

That Was Next to the Last Meal Before, I Guess
Poor EMT Guy is still face down and out when Lopez 2.0 wakes him up with a gun at his neck and a question, what does he know about the Red Diamonds. PEMTG is dazed and puzzled. He probably thought he already answered that question.

Operation Get Cristian Begins
There’s a knock at the door. It’s Cristian, hot under the collar and in his loins. He doesn’t have much time, he has to get back to the office, but maybe he can get a quickie in. Connie is kissing and hugging him. Does this mean she’ll marry him? Hmmm is her answer. Then she tells him his guns bother her and won’t he take them off? He hurriedly complies and she helps get them out of the way. They hardly have time to get busy when there is another knock at the door. Connie opens the door and gives a half-hearted theatrical scream, complete with semi-raised hands and backs into the room as a hooded man with a gun pushes, or rather walks, into the room. Before Cristian can react, the masked man points his gun at him, the mask comes off and El Dragon says, “Soy Yo.”

Javier came with a story. Cristian is hopeful it is his story as a secret agent. Javier is sorry to disappoint, “It’s the story of you and your lover—the daughter of your best friend and the death of your wife.”

[There is no intended humor to speak of in the headings. They are there merely to mark a break in the narration.]

Great recap, Anita, thank you. Your headings are excellent and humorous.

At the rate Victor is going, I half expect him to convince Christián that Navier was responsible for 9-11 and the Great Train Robbery in England.

Was it me or did López 2.0 appear to be drunk when he confronted the unlucky ambulance guy?

Is there some special kind of dust in the Little Antiquarian Shoppe of Horrors that would enable Dr. Moto to determine where the pipsqueak Belgian Waffler-Assassin was killed? Why does the CIA get some bodies and the police get other bodies?

Anita – Thank you for the recap, snark and great section titles; I thought they were quite clever.
My favs ---

”Come Back Little Lopez 1.0”
”Reina in the Sky With Diamonds”
”Yolanda is a Better Cook”

I sometimes wonder if Lopez 2.0 might yet be Stefy’s undoing. This is not the first time she has put him down, to his face. A guy can only take so much dissing, ya know?

Every time Victor is on camera, I want to throw something at my TV screen.

Connie’s top/dress/tunic was a hoot, with that fabric printed with los diamantes rojos (that looked a lot like the real deal), and the little gray diamonds shaped like the playing card diamonds, all over it. So appropriate for the current custodian of a red diamond.

Every time I think the writers have thought up all the plot twists and such to keep me glued to this show, they continue to amaze me with more suspense and surprises. Must see TV!

Thank you, Anita! I loved your recap, clever headings included. I've been thinking about Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds since the first Big Red appeared so I was happy to see Reina in the Sky...

I've also had this Paul Simon song running through my head: Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes --

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-I_T3XvzPaM

I loved your Boris riff. So now we've had Rocky and Boris -- I'm waiting for Bullwinkle and Natasha to show up.

About the Asunción-Estefi scene --
I'd say it wasn't really a throw-away since Asunción admitted that she was involved with Gregorio BEFORE she married Pedro. Aha!

Doris,
Oh my, yes, Connie's diamond dress was such a hoot. I was so delighted that I felt an urge to tweet when I saw it (but then I calmed down and it passed). :)

Thank you again, Anita. This was such a pleasure to read!

Jean,

"At the rate Victor is going, I half expect him to convince Christián that Navier was responsible for 9-11 and the Great Train Robbery in England."
I'm still giggling over that one!

"Is there some special kind of dust in the Little Antiquarian Shoppe of Horrors that would enable Dr. Moto to determine where the pipsqueak Belgian Waffler-Assassin was killed?"

Well apparently there is. That was how she figured out poor Rocky had been killed there. His clothes were "impregnated" with a dust they identified in carpets at the Little Shoppe. Maybe it was pixie dust that Old Nimoy left behind.

"Why does the CIA get some bodies and the police get other bodies?"

The CIA got the pipsqueak sicario's body because Javier basically dumped it in their laps and left a note explaining why it was theirs.

The police would have been called when the greenhouse owner made the grisly discovery of the poor dead bonboncito. (If the CIA had found the body, presumably they would come to very different conclusions than did idiot Christian.)

Honestly, I don't understand how anyone can resist this show! (Is it Monday yet?)

And another thing...

The whole sordid truth about Christian and his late wife Mirta is still not out. WE on the Patio know that Mirta was fooling around with Victor (she was one of the featured players in his home movies, the ones Navier found on the flashdrive he took from Victor's desk), but Christian may not have known. When/if he finds out, he won't feel all warm and fuzzy towards Victor, I'm guessing.

"Father Quiet-ly Avoids Capture"
hahahaha. Nice one.

(BTW, let's not forget how Reina disguised herself as a nun when she was on the run. Sister Asustao?)

Thank you. Truly, the headings appeared as if by magic around 2 am.

NovelaMaven--
You continue to amaze me with your incredible recall of details. I remember Victor's collection of porn videos. In fact he mentioned them to Susana last night declaring they were not porno, they were artistic.

What I did not recall is that Mirtha was featured in one of them. As I looked at her in the flashbacks, I wondered how a man (and I use the term loosely at this juncture) like Cristian would be bored or turned off by Mirtha and only perform under obligation. She's beautiful, smart--smart-mouthed. Now I wonder if the problem was with him and he could only get aroused by forbidden fruit.

I don't condone an affair with Victor, but he is the master of seduction and if he wanted to "try" Mirtha, he certainly would have been successful.

Sister Asustao? Great gem! Raise a glass of orange juice to you, amiga.

I wanted to include a description of the dress Reina wore most of this episode, but it would have taken up all of a Part 7. It looked good on her, up to a point. I wouldn't wear that and spiked heels to go to the police station or my best friend's humble abode, but that's just me (or I -- for those who care about those things.)

Oh, and about Asuncion and El Coyote. I thought the writers had screwed up the timeline--oh, me of little faith--when they said she was "left alone and later she married Reina's father."

Could it be that Pedro Ortiz found out about her affair with Gregorio long after the fact, after Gregorio had been assassinated and Asuncion had been "left alone," and sent her packing. If she was an adolescent at the time of her affair, that takes her up to about age 17. I wonder now if that information was significant.

But Stefi was right, she could have waited till she was home to discuss this, but then Stefi probably would not have let her in the house, after the way she talked to her in the hospital--a virtual prisoner with tubes and stitches.

Pedro may have reacted with such intensity on learning of the affair because Gregorio and Pedro were "business" rivals. Maybe Pedro couldn't stand the idea he had shared a woman with Gregorio. And, this is a plausible Undercooked Crockpot Theory, that Reina is really Gregorio's daughter after all. We've speculated about the possibility. We don't know when Reina was conceived. The writers are holding a few cards back, eh?

Anita, I laughed so hard that my tummy hurt. If that was unintentional humor I don't know that my tummy could take intentional humor!

But I have another Colander Theory. What if the unmasked assassin who looked like Victor really was Victor's father, but it wasn't Octavio. What if Reina's beloved Papa, (who much resembles Victor in personality and actions) was Victor's father. Yeah it's a theory that is full of holes, but in this loca novela, anything is possible.

Penny

Marvellous recap, Anita! I loved it, but as usual, I'm somewhat late to the party, and the other guests have already offered many of the compliments I wanted to offer. Sigh. They've also offered an impressive number of Crockpot™ and Colander™ Theories. The one I like best is that Reina's father and Estefi's father is/are, indeed, Gregorio. Why else would Asunción have mentioned that she LATER married Reina's father? In other words, the person Asunción refers to as Reina's father is not her biological father. Then again, when I ask why else Asunción would say this, the answer is obvious: to confuse us Reinamaniacs even more. It certainly succeeded with me.

Anita, I also enjoyed your concern about loose prepositions. You and Winston Churchill :-).

wow, such an enjoyable recap to read Anita,
with lots of juicy details,
thank you so much!

Victor is really good at undermining Reina's love for Javier,
he always knows the right things to say to bring her doubt.

Susana was cracking me up last night, especially when Estefi was pointing out how little she knows Victor after being married to him for so long, how long are you going to stand around with "los brazos cruzados", and Susana looks down and she is standing there with crossed arms, that she quickly lets fall to her sides.

ah yes, Victor, "twirling his invisible moustache".

poor, poor, EMT guy, was that one diamond being auctioned off for $60 million, I hope the sex was worth it.

ah, so Asuncion's affair with Estefi's father was before she married Reina's father, and when Reina came along...

it was interesting, Susana's talk with Victor, now that she is interested in Juanjo, as Victor is now becoming interested in her, as his sex/death obsession thingy (for what he can't have) is flaring up.

ah yes, Laz with his "sideways smile".

I think Connie inherited Carmen's clothes as well as Susana's and is combining them to create a whole new fashion line, it's interesting that Connie and Reina are so much alike, growing up together, and yet Reina now has that wealthy sophisticated air about her that Conniie never acquired.

can't wait to see how the Javier/Cristian play works out, especially with Reina standing around the corner holding Cristian's gun.

"...after being married to him for so long, how long are you going to stand around with "los brazos cruzados", and Susana looks down and she is standing there with crossed arms, that she quickly lets fall to her sides."

Yes, Deb! I love that kind of detail in the acting that shows us that we are all in on the joke, that YES it's a spoof even if, as in the best comedy, there are moments that break your heart.

"What if the unmasked assassin who looked like Victor really was Victor's father, but it wasn't Octavio. What if Reina's beloved Papa, (who much resembles Victor in personality and actions) was Victor's father."

ooh Penny, I like the way you think! But I'm holding out for the masked asesino being Victor's uncle if he is any kind of relative at all and not just a red herring as I think jlk suggested a few days ago.

(He can't be Big O because he and Asuncion would have recognized each other.)

And I suspect that as soon as DNA testing became available, Big O had Victor tested to make sure that this man he loathed so much was really his biological son.

Too bad that EMT guy didn't do the honorable thing and return the diamond to Stefy. Even without the curse, he is toast.

ITA that Victor, "twirling his invisible moustache" is great!

Deb wrote: "Victor is really good at undermining Reina's love for Javier,
he always knows the right things to say to bring her doubt." Yes, that's so true, but I think he's even better at manipulating Clara. That scene where Clara overhears Victor's half/whole of the fake phone call with Reina almost had me throwing something at the TV.

While pondering the twists and turns of the storyline, I will toss out a possible Crockpot Theory that Javier might learn he is Clara's bio-father by way of medical needs. The writers gave Clarita a heart condition, maybe for a reason beyond Victor paying her medical bills after her birth.

Typical soap opera plot would have Clarita needing blood or a kidney donated, or bone marrow transplant, and her blood type would be rare but matches Javier's.
It's a stretch, but plausible and it would give Javier another chance to be angry with Reina --- "You knew I'm her dad and you never told me?!" --- and Victor wouldn't be able to punish Reina for telling Javier.

Penny--You just introduced the ewwww factor.

If Victor's "real" father and Reina's "real" father is the guy we saw killing Stefi's parents and shooting at Asuncion, then we have a problem with Vic & Reina being married.

So far, there is no incest (a no-no in tns) and this Potted Theory only works if she gets away from Victor before "anything" happens, n'est-ce pas?

There's the age factor, too. It's a stretch, but we've seen other big age differences between siblings work (Victoria's two children, Nikki and baby Angelcito; Adriana with Lily and new baby in AV). Isn't Victor in his very late 40s or maybe 50 or 51? Reina is now close to 30?

Juanita,

"That scene where Clara overhears Victor's half/whole of the fake phone call with Reina almost had me throwing something at the TV."

The fake phone call ploy has been used before in this one. Remember in the very beginning when Estefi pretended to be talking to Reina from Navier's hospital room, begging her to come and see him?

P.S. If you are looking for things to throw at your TV, I believe we still have some Univision NERFAZOS™ left over from El Talismán. (I'd suggest browsing through the DIAMANTAZO collection.)

NM, completely OT, but while I was searching for Arriaga's baby's name I decided to re-read the last edition of El Clamor Publico (for which you had many entries over the life of the publication).

I found close to 100 spam postings for some spell caster in Africa and all the testimonials for his results. Didn't know that could happen to one of our blogs. It took me quite awhile to delete them forever (and could because it was my posting).

Ooooh, los Nerfazos! I haven't been to the telenovela-mart in ages and forgot about those. Weren't they introduced during Amores Verdaderos? I need a dozen Nerfazos to throw at our TV whenever Victor is on.

Excellent discussions around the Crockpot™. It might be obvious but in this novela, the fact that, after killing Estefi's parents and shooting Asunción, the shooter took off his mask and we've now seen this in flashback several times, has got to be significant. This is not a random shooter who happens to look like Victor. I personally like the idea that he is a brother of Big O. I agree that Big O would have made sure that Vic was his son so mystery shooter is unlikely to be Vic's father. We may need some more input from Granny.

Anita, I'm surprised about the spamming. I thought this blog had a filter because I've often gone to delete something only to discover that it is already gone. Very mysterious.

Doris, I feel fairly sure that nerfazos were invented during El Tal. At that time, they were largely vegetable-themed. The Tomatazo Nerfazo was a particularly hot item. While there were times during Amores verdaderos when I was happy I had a box of nerfazos next to me, I rarely had to reach for the Lancha-nerfazo which I had used so regularly during the run of El Tal.

NOTE: In case you're unfamiliar with the term, a nerfazo is etymologically a NERF™ (soft foam item) + the augmentative suffix -azo which makes the noun into a weapon: puñetazo (golpe con el puño, hit with a fist, a punch), botellazo (golpe con una botella, blow with a bottle) and yes tomatazo (hit with a tomato).

They allow you to vent without harming the electronic equipment or upsetting your family.

Jean

"I personally like the idea that he is a brother of Big O"

I'm always so please when you agree with me.
:D

Good one, Jean. Granny is the key. I hope she returns to the scenes of all the crimes and remains lucid. She could tell us a lot. She seemed to favor Stefi for Victor, from what we got to see of her.

Do we know much about Big O's wife's background (and Granny's daughter)? Probably doesn't matter.

Doris--Nerfazos were offered in Meta*Mart (I wish I had named it Neta*Mart, but too late, now.)

Nerfazos predate AV, but here is a round-up of some of the children's items (but no Rocks)

Toy Dept.
Nerfazos for hurling at 55” (and up) flat-screen tv’s; nerfazillitos for smaller venues. Note: these have been modified by a slender thread sewn into each nerfa so if you lack a companion animal-dog, no one needs to get up from the couch to retrieve them; they can be reeled in.
---
Bobble-head Polita dolls with dropping jaws (apron, broom and wild rockers’ wig extra)
---
Tenista Trolls—Roy-inspired Blue ones with the long hair you could stand straight up. (If they make them in soft foam, they could double as nerfazos)

Of course, we had plenty of T-shirts.

NovelaMaven- I was going to give you the attribution for the idea but I wasn't 100% sure and I was too lazy to go back and look but I ALWAYS agree with you. ;-)

Anita: All we know is that Big O's wife and Vic's mother was horrible to Vic and that Big O killed her and buried her in the garden. Even Granny didn't like her.

NM - Ah.... I didn't watch El Tal so missed the launch (pun intended) of Nerfazos.

"I personally like the idea that he is a brother of Big O"
I do, too, because he looks a LOT like Big O.

" Note: these have been modified by a slender thread sewn into each nerfa so if you lack a companion animal-dog, no one needs to get up from the couch to retrieve them; they can be reeled in."
BwaHahahahahahahaaaaa~! (Really. This had me LOL right now!!!)

We could have Nerfazos in the shape of giant red diamonds. That would be very appropriate, I think.

Jean - Diamantazos! That is an EXCELLENT idea! I think they'll be a big seller at the TalMart.

Ooo! I would love some red diamond nerfazos!

I'm currently trying to catch up with episodes now.

Mauricio- I read your fabulous recap before watching Thursday's episode and it enhanced my viewing enjoyment.

Anita- yes there would be a huge ick factor if they had the same father. But I think Reina's Papa is not her bio father. Why else would his marriage to
Asuncion have hit the rocks after Reina was born? But if he is her bio father, I take my "holey" theory back!.

Penny

My point. Reina's Papa Ortiz is not her bio-dad. I thought you were speculating that Gregorio Perez--Stefi's bio-dad could have been Asuncion's lover and sperm donor.

He dies in Bogota. She's left alone. Somehow she hooks up with Papa Ortiz within a few months, marries and makes a home with him. She's already pregnant, though (or not--we shall see). Reina is born. They are together for months or 2-3 years. Papa Ortiz finds out that she was "unfaithful"**

(**How can you be "unfaithful" if you had a relationship before you married your current hub.)

He throws her out and keeps Reina and tells her never to darken his door again.

Asuncion gets a job with Victor, at some point.

This might be a Sieve Theory (works faster than Colanders), to be sure. It works if Pedro finds out Asuncion had been with a foreign arms-trafficante. So Pedro Ortiz could still be a good guy--but similar to Victor, separated "his" daughter from her mother at roughly the same ages.

I guess we'll have to wait to learn the identity of the masked assassin (who can't be Gregorio, natch). Then to learn if there is any relationship between the assassin and Clown-Papa-Ortiz for my latest theory to work.

Anita

This is what I said a week ago:

Remember when OBDelfina told PELS-FELS that she and Reina weren't sisters at all because they didn't have the same father? At the time, I thought it meant that OBCarmen had cheated on Mr. Ortiz. Given Asunción's story, I have rethought my position. Here is my latest Crackpot Theory™:

Maruja/Asunción was telling a half-truth. She was involved with Gregorio Pérez BEFORE Reina was born. In fact, Gregorio fathered Reina.

Pedro (el payaso) Ortiz KNEW that Reina was not his child (just as Victor KNOWS that Clara is not his daughter).

Pedro punished Maruja by taking Reina from her, making her believe that Maruja had abandoned her, and using his snake-oil salesman charm to convince the girl that he was the bee's knees (just as Victor is punishing Reina by alienating Clara from her and winning Clara over to his side with his magician's charm.)

Reina and Estefanía ARE half-sisters.

Pedro (el payaso) Ortiz may have been the masked man who killed Gregorio Pérez and his wife and shot and Maruja/Asunción, leaving her for dead.

Pedro didn't kill himself; he faked his own death and went underground. (Recall Victor's failed suicide attempt.)

It was NOT by chance that Asunción ended up living in the De Rosas house. Someone set that up -- possibly Pedro Ortiz himself.

Since Pedro Ortiz is NOT Reina's father, there is no problem with him being related to Victor -- his uncle? even a young Big O?

Okay. I could go on, but a little restraint is called for here. Just a little...

So I am catching up on Friday's episode and I was excited to see that Navier's escape scene when he was changing cars was filmed right here in Downtown Ft Lauderdale down the street from my job! I wish I could find out when they are filming these scenes so I could try and catch a glimpse. This was also the area where they filmed Santa Diabla last year.

Hola! Here is another Reinamaniac. I really love this telenovela! I´ve been lurking here for a long time, but haven’t had the courage to comment. Mainly because I am not a native English speaker, and you are all such great writers!

Just wanted to thank you all for superb recaps, great comments and interesting crackpot theories I have enjoyed reading since this telenovela started.

I have a theory of my own. Did anyone else think that maybe Asunción is the mother of Estefania’s little brother? She kept asking about him a little bit too much.

¡Hola Cuatro Ojos!

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Reinamania! I'm so glad you decided to come out of lurkdom and join us here.

"Did anyone else think that maybe Asunción is the mother of Estefania’s little brother? She kept asking about him a little bit too much."

Wow -- Asunción as the mother of Estefi's little brother? Very nice. Pull up at chair at the Crackpot Theorists' Table and have a Dr. Pepper!

I was also struck by her keen interest in hermanito, but it never occurred to me that she might be his mother. So how would that work? Gregorio pulls a Victor: he steals A's baby because he wants a male heir and then persuades his wife (Estefi's mother) that the baby was abandoned?

Hola Reinamaniacs! I've only just caught up on the last two episodes. Mauricio and Anita- Marvelous recaps! The Patio is on fire this weekend with fantastic theories of the crackpot, crockpot, and collander variety. I have nothing more too add. Anon 9:32- Welcome! I too found Ausuncion's preocupation with Stefi's brother to be suspicious, and the thought that he's her son crossed my mind. Hmm...

Christian is not only the worst cop in LV, he's also the dumbest character in this tn. Even more useless than Lopez 2.0, who's on borrowed time.

Sorry Cuatro Ojos. I realized that you are not an Anon.

NovelaMaven--
I'm signing on to your latest Crackpot Theory™.

Cuatro Ojos--Welcome, too. We want everyone to share in this locura and are pleased when another voice is added. All Crackpot theories are worthy of discussion here. It's a fun place to play detective. We just have to watch out that we don't step in some 'red herrings.'

NM--Do you suppose that because it might turn out that Stefi and Reina are half-sisters that is the reason there are only TWO Reinas in this story? Reina de Corazones and Reina de Diamantes.

Anita:

"Do you suppose that because it might turn out that Stefi and Reina are half-sisters that is the reason there are only TWO Reinas in this story?"

While the supposition makes sense, it's not what we were told at the outset. This is from my introduction to the novela (it's a very loose translation taken from the Telemundo website):

"Laura Flores is Agent Sara Smith (Reina de Picas/Queen of Spades), the head of the CIA."

So unless the writers have since changed their minds, we already have a third Queen.

Welcome Cuatro Ojos! Please don't hesitate to comment. We don't care what your native language is. There are people in Caray from all over the world.

Interesting theory about Asunción's interest in Estefi's little brother. That would fit in more with what Asunción told FELS - that she went to work at Gregorio's after Reina was born and her marriage with Pedro went on the rocks.

Except for the intro, have we ever heard Smeeth called that? The most names we've heard Smeeth being called are the ones PFELS calls her, Rubia most of the time.

So we're only missing the Queen of Clubs, then. If we follow the logic--Smeeth is Javier's mother, so Asuncion, being Reina's mother, would be the Queen of Clubs.

Naah, doesn't make sense. The writers are playing with us without a full deck.

Jean, wow.
You pulled that one back out of the hat. I THOUGHT that was the story, until we heard the alternative one she told Stefi.

Which version is the right one. Hmmmmm.

ah but wasn't there some detail like the description of the guy Asuncion worked for was single so she didn't work for Gregorio, was only his lover in a different place.

hmm, and so with our new timeline, ?? Asuncion went with Gregorio when she was young, he was killed and she was shot, she assumed the idenity of the girl with her in the hospital (that died), and took her job at big O's house, so we are led to believe she then got married, then had Reina, all while working there.

talk about a colander story, I think we need to bring in Asuncion for further questioning, she got out of that last round by trying to kill herself.

and, I have trouble seeing Pedro trying to kill Asuncion and then marrying her, but I do see that he may be still alive because Asuncion is still afraid of something, and I wonder if he shot Carmen for messing with Reina.

deb--
...but I do see that he may be still alive because Asuncion is still afraid of something, and I wonder if he shot Carmen for messing with Reina.

This is definitely a theory to hang on to. We've surmised earlier that Pedro was still maybe alive and we *don't* know who shot Carmen.

If anyone wants to review Asuncion's first tale to FELS, most of it is in Mauricio's 9/95 recap. It starts at the end of 9/24.

It certainly differs from what she told Stefi.

Timeline alert:
In Asuncion's retelling of her life before Victor, she says that Pedro Ortiz visited her in the hospital when she was recovering from the attempted assassination and told her THEN she was to stay away from him and Reina and if she ever got close to Reina again, he'd kill Reina.

Did I dream this, or was there an episode where Esmeeth was referred to (or perhaps she herself referred to herself as) the Queen of Clubs or Spades?

Is it Monday yet? :-)

Anita, I posted a Crackpot Theory several weeks ago that Asuncion would be the queen of clubs. My theory was based on her name (the Assumption of Mary) and the Wiki description of the queen of clubs as the one who has to make sacrifices, like Mary sacrificed her son. I'm still bullish on my theory although it is still out in left field.

Welcome Cuartro Ojos. Your English is excellent and so is your theory about Asuncion being FELS mother! If my theory is right and your theory is right, that would mean Asuncion has sacrificed two of her children! Que lastima. If that is true, no wonder she considers her life to be hell.

I'm still confused about are the timelines, however. Reina is younger than FELS (I think) so that would mean that Asuncion already had a child when she married Pedro. Would she have concealed that or confessed it? Maybe that's the reason her marriage went south after she had Reina?

I need some answers, writers! Hurry up and tell us more.

Penny

NovelaMaven--I went back to see where your 9/28 comment fit. I was distracted by the Wisdom of the Dragon at that moment. See what happens when one stops paying attention to one little second of this supernovela.

Penny--I do remember now, your allusion to Queen of Clubs. So if we accept that, the circle is complete.

Somehow, I don't think it will turn out that PFELS is Asuncion's son. He MIGHT be younger than Reina. He was that hotshot genius so it is possible for him to be younger--making the age difference between him and Smeeth as wide as between Juanjo and Susana (what is this, the "tail" of the cougars?), although it is probably immaterial.

Furthermore, Asuncion never mentioned another child when giving PFELS her life story. Of course maybe we weren't meant to hear it.

Basta. I have to get something else done today! Will be back bright, but not very early tomorrow. Chau.

Hola Reinamaniacs!

Here's the Asuncion timeline as I understand it from the different bits she's told:
1) She meets Gregorio/coyote, and falls in love, but he's married.
2) She marries Pedro/payaso and has Reina
3) She hooks up again with Gregorio and is shot at. Meets other woman at the hospital who dies, and whose identity she takes over
4) Not sure if she reaches Pedro and this part happens at the hospital, or if it happens after she gets back home. Either way, Pedro now knows that she was unfaithful and tells her to get lost or he'll kill her and Reina
5) She goes to work at Mansion de Rosas.

It is certainly possible she had a son with Gregorio during the first affair round, who pulled a Victor with the boy, but then told her the truth after they got back together and she somehow forgave him. Then the birth order of his kids would be Stef, the boy, Reina. Either way, I also wonder if that boy is now FPELS.

Oddly, when I saw the JJ Kia ad, I thought we were meant to think it was a goodbye present from Navier (it came after the scene with Boris where he said he had some stuff to take care of before they left). I thought it was a terrible idea since TWCILV would probably latch on to that to jail JJ for being Navier's accomplice. Perhaps the theory that he simply bought it himself is probably better. Gotta love product placement.

I also wonder at the CIA's latest security breach if TWCILV could figure it out. Then again, maybe Victor made the suggestion, which was not necessarily the best idea. In theory, Cristian should then assume that Navier did what he did on the CIA's orders and he better stay out of it, or he was a renegade agent and the CIA was on top of it and hot under his trail. Off course, being TWCILV, he probably figures he can do better than the CIA (good cops usually do in the movies, and I guess he thinks he's actually good at his job).

Huge favor, I came into this board late in the game (after a long absence) and was hoping someone could clarify whenever they have time some initials I'm confused on, no rush. 1) OBD/OBC - I believe the D and C are Delfina and Carmen respectively, but not sure what "OB" is. 2) FELS/PELS - I believe the F and P stand for Fernando and Patricio, but not sure about the rest (maybe ElSupremo?)

On Spanish title type names, I'm partial to "concuño/a", which refers to the spouse of a BIL/SIL. ie, the husbands of my husband's sisters would be my concuños. I also really like "compadre/comadre", which is used between parents and godparents of a child. I think in some places it's expanded to mean countryman, and in some parts of Mexico it's used by BFFs, which I guess is meant to imply they will be the godparents of each other's children, though I may be wrong on that one.

I'm off to get some sleep now. TTYL =)

Ooops, forgot to thank all the fabu recappers! Thank you for all the great writing. It makes watching the TNs even better! Now I'm really going to bed ;)

Welcome Margarita. It's been a long time since we watched a novela together and better late than never on Reina.

The OB is: "Odious Bitch" and you are correct the D and C are Delfina and Carmen. You are also correct about FELS/PELS Fernando/Patricio El Supremo.

Concerning Asunción, all we've got are two differing stories and a lot of speculation. This is what she told FELS on last Wednesday's show:

Asunción says that the love between her and her husband lasted until Reina was born and then he worked longer hours and went out a lot. Asunción got a job in a mansion of a man who lived alone. He was surrounded by employees but no family. He was mysterious and didn't talk much. People came and went at his house. He traveled a lot. Asunción says that she was weak. She fell in love with the man. It was an unforgettable romance that almost cost her her life. It was a turning point in her life. She paid for that romance in blood.

She tells Estefi a different story on Friday's episode:
I met your father when I was an adolescent. I had no idea he was married much less that he had a daughter. Later I married Reina's father and formed a family but no one knows this. I didn't tell them even when I was interrogated.

Plus, we have Delfina's statement that she and Reina had different fathers.

If we want Reina to be Gregorio's daughter and/or Estefi's brother to be Asunción's son, version #2 works better but there are gaps. Version #2 does not explain the circumstances in which Asunción got shot unless we assume, as Margarita does, that she started up her relationship with Gregorio again after marrying Pedro.

I'm sure we will learn more soon! Can't wait for tonight's episode.

Hi Margarita! I've seen your name around the blog, but I don't think we've ever had the pleasure of watching a show together. Welcome!

I've been thinking (well it sounds better than saying I've been obsessing... it's so cool to see Greta, by offering up her secret, joining the Club of the Good Guys -- Laz, Greta, Navier, Reina, Connie, Juanjo.

(Will they teach her the secret handshake?)

I have been enjoying all the comments this weekend.

I'm afraid I don't have much to add beyond "Reina is pretty." and "Navier has nice hair."

My pear half is just not good enough for Crockpotting I'm afraid.

Sara--No need for perdones. We know you are super busy on tonight's episode...you must describe ALL the action, por fa.

"My pear half is just not good enough for Crockpotting I'm afraid."

As if. Well okay, Sara, then just think of this page as the Kibbutz of CarayCaray: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. :)

Anita, this is Caroline's night to recap. Or did you guys switch nights?

MONDAY'S PAGE IS POSTED! SEE YOU THERE!
