La Gata #24- Thu 10/2 - La Audiencia

If you missed it yesterday, the episode starts with a replay of most of the fight…and Pablo and Esme smearing her lipstick all over each other's faces.  Silencioso pries them apart and decks Pablo.  Some cops or security people finally show up to drag Esme and Pablo apart.  In all the screaming, once again, no one gets around to saying anything that might resolve this.

Lorenza gets the news from Monica and explains away Pablo's reaction with "Well, he's a man."  She blames it all on Esme and begs Monica not to leave Pablo.  Monica wants Pablo to be happy, and Lorenza says that Monica is his happiness.  I don't think Lorenza understands the meaning of that word.

Back at the house, Esme cries and is comforted by Silencioso, who says those meanies will pay.  The maid brings them tea or coffee and gives them a suspicious look.

Lorenza can't find Pablo.  He's actually over at Monica's apologizing and offering to let her break off the engagement.  Monica hears Lorenza's warning in her head that if she sets him free, he'll go running to Esme, but she asks if he wants the engagement to be over.  Pablo says he does want the engagement over, and that's what he deserves.  He still loves Esme, but he wants to forget her and he thought Monica could help him.  At this point, though, he can't ask her to do that.  He can't go on, but Monica can't let go.  Her idea is that they should get married immediately so that woman can't take him from her.

Lorenza summons Dorila to run a letter over to "the man of the house" across the street.  Lorenza is sure he'll kick Esme out of the house when he reads it.

Over at Silencioso's, Dorila hands over the letter in person.  She describes herself as the "ama de llaves" ("lady of the keys"; housekeeper) for the Martinez Negretes, and waits for Silencioso to read the letter so she can take a response back.  He tells her he can't wait to go talk to Lorenza in person and hear everything she has to say.

Jarocha is sorry to have missed the show…well, the shows!  Jarocha thinks Esme has fallen for Pablo again, after that kiss, but Esme doesn't think he wants her back.  Plus, she won't forgive him and his fiancée has zero dignity, so of course she'll forgive him.

Instead of agreeing to move up the wedding date, Pablo wants to leave the plans as-is.  Monica isn't pleased.  She's afraid of marrying someone who doesn't love her.

Silencioso lets Damian read the letter, wherein Lorenza insinuates that "that girl" is playing him, is in love with her son, and has been chasing him and trying to blackmail him.  She claims to have proof.  Damian is outraged, but Silencioso seems amused.  Damian doesn't like the idea of Silencioso setting foot in the Negrete house so soon, but he can't pass up this opportunity.

Silencioso is polite, which makes Lorenza think he's a sensible man.  He actually asks her to call him "El Silencioso" as it was his prison nickname for 20 years.  Cara de "Who did I just let into my house?!" de Lorenza.

Rita's having a tough day.  Inez was getting it on with Garabato right there in her shack.  She begs Esme to help her set Inez back on the right path.  Esme says at least she busted up the party before things went to far.

He likes "Silencioso" better than his name, he says.  He goes on to say he found her letter interesting and wants to hear more.  Lorenza remembers Augie's suspicious and asks him directly whether he's Fernando de la Santa Cruz.  He tells her that FDLSC is some poor guy who went to jail, and he can understand her nervousness at thinking a convicted murderer is in her house, but no, he was Fernando's cellmate.  He was innocent, though Fernando did kill a man.  Lorenza is really freaked out and brings the conversation back to Gata.

Garabato hands Inez her share of last night's job.  She really wants to leave Rita's and live with Garabato.  He tells her he luuuuurves her, but he wants to keep loving her and that won't happen if she lives with him.  Esme busts into the pool shack to talk to Inez.

Fernando just keeps staying calm as Lorenza tells him that Gata is indeed a gata, who had a fling with her son.  Her poor little Pablo felt sorry for Gata, but their love was nothing, with no consequences.  "You mean, like twins?  A boy and a girl?  They're nothing?"  Lorenza keeps up with her syrupy voice as she explains that those children aren't Pablo's, but of course Gata would claim a prestigious father for them.  She tells him that Esme sent her son some very racy messages, telling him she loves him.  She pretends to feel sorry for Silencioso, having been taken in by this woman.  "Oh, you think I have an intimate relationship with her?"  He asks if it isn't possible he's just helping her out of the kindness of his heart, but since Lorenza doesn't actually have one, she can't understand that.  "What exactly is it that you want from me?"  Lorenza says she wants him to take Gata away from her son.  "Why don't you leave?"  "Asking us to leave would be like dispossessing us!"  (despojarnos=dispossessing us)  Oh, Silencioso understands how terrible that is…only horrible thieves would do that to someone!

Inez isn't really in the mood for, uh, sisterly advice from Esme.  Esme has some affection for her, since they grew up together.  Inez can tell that Rita went running to Esme with the gossip.  Esme talks about how Inez needs to get her act together and not end up like her dad.  Is there anyone who really takes these kinds of lectures well?  After Gata leaves, Inez suggests to Garabato that Gata be their next target.  Garabato is appalled that she would suggest such a thing.  Gata's one of them.  "Uno no escupe para arriba porque te cae en la cara."  (Don't spit upwards because it will fall in your face; don't spit into the wind; don't do something self-defeating)

In the kitchen at Casa Silencioso, Jarocha notices Meche's worried face.  Meche tells her that Silencioso went over to talk to Ms. Martinez Negrete and he's been gone a while.  Who knows what those people are up to!  Jarocha is sure they're trying to turn him against Esme.  Meche brings up her suspicions about Silencioso's feelings towards Esme and Jarocha tells her she'd better ask forgiveness for thinking dirty thoughts.  Meche can't understand why nobody notices what's going on except for her!

Silencioso asks Lorenza if she doesn't care at all about Esme's situation.  Doesn't she want to check out the kids and see if they don't look like they might be Pablo's?  Lorenza, of course, refuses and asks him to ask Esme to leave her son alone.  Silencioso says Esme won't be bothering any of them…for now.  But, as for the upcoming wedding, he recommends they put it off indefinitely or break off the engagement.  That wedding can't happen because Pablo is still married.  Oh, he knows they annulled it, but Pablo is going to have to re-marry Esme and claim the kids as his…as Lorenza's grandchildren.  "Jamás!" says Lorenza, and Silencioso warns her that she should never say "never."  Lorenza is sure that "intrusa" (intruder), "pordiosera" (beggar; comes from "por Dios," "for God" or "for God's sake") is NEVER getting into her house and her son is NEVER going to marry her.  She brags about how her husband's morality is so untouchable and there will never be sluts or ex-cons in her house.  Silencioso says sure, he was in jail, because a criminal had him locked up, but he's prepared to return the favor.  He asks her to remember this day and all the things she's saying about Esme, whose only crime was being duped by her son.  She keeps telling him to get out, but she did invite him.  He tells her to go ahead and call for someone to get him out of there so he can tell them what they've been talking about.  She complains that he's not a gentleman.  "Well, you wouldn't know how to talk to a gentleman, would you?  Since all you have in your family are crooks.  I'll go now.  I have nothing more to say to you."  And now she's crabby because he left when he wanted to and not when she told him to.  She chases him out to the stairs and he says he forgot to tell her one thing--that the day is coming, and soon, when she'll be honored to have La Gata at her table.  Lorenza realizes she made a mistake and she's almost sure he's Fernando de la Santa Cruz.

Silencioso gets home and Esme is glad to see him.  She assumes he believed Lorenza and is going to throw her out, but no.  He tells her that all his moves are calculated to bring down the Martinez Negretes.  She's worried about this whole revenge thing and whether it might not be better to just let God sort it out.  Silencioso thinks sometimes God needs a little help in that area.  Soon enough, Pablo will come crawling back and begging for forgiveness…but he wonders if Esme will forgive him.

Lorenza frantically summons Dorila and demands to know what the other house looks like.  Dorila took note of everything.  The furniture was new.  Dorila only saw the maid who let her in and the gentleman who came over.  Augie comes in, but Lorenza isn't done with Dorila.  She asks her to make friends with one of the maids from the other house and try to find out whatever she can, especially what that man's name is, what they're saying about the Martinez-Negretes, if he really has as much money as it seems.  Dorila is only too happy to do this.  Lorenza tells Augie she thinks he's right and that guy could be Fernando de la Santa Cruz.

Omar brings a sleeping Pablo home and he stumbles around at the front gate until Omar helps him open the door.

Lorenza tells Augie that he said he wasn't FDLSC, but he claimed to know him.  She understands Augie's worry now.  Pablo stumbles in, drunk.  No, he's not coming from Monica's house.  Lorenza and Augie are appalled at his behavior and Lorenza calls him the shame of this family.  "Why?  Because you can't run my life?  Because you can't make me love Monica?  I just want you to leave me alone and quit worrying about me!  I'm sick of you loving me so much."  Mariano arrives to help his brother upstairs and tells him he needs to respect the first rule of being drunk--don't argue!  "You're turning into the black sheep of the family and that used to be my role!" Pablo laughs, saying he's just a puppet, a man with no character, "You divorce me, you marry me, you take me here and there like a doll."  Lorenza warns him that he's going straight to hell and when he hits bottom, Gata will throw a party for her victory.  Mariano tells her to cool it.  Tomorrow's hangover will be punishment enough.  Pablo tells Mariano she might as well keep reprimanding him (que me recrimine) since that's what he's always heard from her since he was able to understand.  Lorenza tells him it's Gata who's been pulling his strings.  Augie tells Pablo to marry Monica ASAP.  Lorenza tells Pablo that "that guy" proposed to Esme and they're going to get married.

Osorio reassures Silencioso that everything will go as planned.  He's brought papers for a new identity for Silencioso--Abel Cruz.  Lorenza and Augie will get nervous because when they find out his name, it won't be "Fernando de la Santa Cruz" but the "Cruz" part will make them wonder if he's somehow related.  There's really no paper trail linking Silencioso to Fernando de la Santa Cruz.  Osorio tells him that he found something odd during the search for Silencioso's daughter…he never found Blanca's death certificate.  There's nothing to prove that she died.  Silencioso is sure his wife died of pain and loneliness…of course he's sure, since Esme grew up with Rita.  "If Blanca were alive, Esmeralda wouldn't have gone through everything she did."

Lorenza tells Drunk!Pablo that she summoned That Guy over to quiz him and he said he's in love with Gata and he's going to give her a future by his side.  Augie tells Pablo to marry Monica or else Gata will think she's defeated him.

Pablo does, indeed, wake up with a hangover.  He goes out onto his balcony to stalk Esme and wonder why it's not his son that she's carrying around.

Meche comes into Esme's room to tell her that Silencioso wants to talk to her.  She heads down to his office, after putting on a dress and boots, and he tells her that he's "disgustado" (offended).  He's put all this money at her disposition and she hasn't bought new clothes.  Esme says she has plenty of clothes and she feels bad for sitting around the house all day doing nothing.  She's surprised to hear him describing her clothing as "modesta" (modest in the sense of "of modest means"…in other words, she went shopping at Target instead of Neiman Marcus) because to her, she never dreamed of having clothing this nice!  "This stuff is for a princess!"  He says she's being an awfully humble princess.  He wants Pablo to see her dressed like a queen.  "Why?  Since I don't care about him."  Silencioso says he wants to see her well-dressed, as befits  her class.  "My class?  Please, they know what my class is!"  Silencioso reminds her that he has a plan and she's going to need to go into society more--the same society the Martinez Negretes move in.  He knows she's not like them…she's better.  They're nobodies, and she's going to defeat them on their own turf.  She's going to teach them a lesson and they're never going to forget her.

Tomorrow: Fela confronts; Esme parties.

Personally, my first rule of being drunk is "Don't drink when you're sad."

They seem to be moving things along at a good clip! More revelations tomorrow and an even dressier Gata.

Lowrentza does not have the class nor the brain power to win a confrontation with Silencio aka the Marquis.

I noticed that she signed the letter "Lorenza de Martinez Negrete" without including her maiden name, which makes me think that she not only doesn't have the class by behavior, but also by birth.

Meanwhile, Esmeralda was told her father is a Marquis, but she still thinks of herself as not having class.

Thank you Ms 5ft! I appreciated your detailed recap more than usual as my visiting vet comes over on Thursday nites and I always miss at least half the episode.

So, El Sil told Rita that he is Esme's daddy (but he wouldn't tell Dona Meche). Then Rita told Jarocha. Damian knows. Anyone else? I can't wait for tomorrow night! I'm bringing a gigantic bag of chips and salsa to the "Mariano rules, Pablo drools" table on the patio.

J in Oregon

Gracias, J. I think you've got the full list. I really thought that Jarocha would say something to Meche tonight.

Thank you, Kat!! I agree, they are moving things right along. Thanks for the observation about Lowrentza's signature. I hadn't really registered.

I think Meche would be more likely to blab than Rita. Rita is going to keep that info secret (mostly) because she won't want anyone trying to get in on the action, too. She wants all the money for herself. Meche would tell EVERYONE! With Dorila on the prowl looking for info, I'm glad Meche doesn't know.

Mariano perplexed me again last night. Surely he didn't believe what his parents were telling drunk Pablo...but he wasn't speaking up, either.

J in Oregon-I'll join you for chips and salsa! I'll bring some pineapple salsa from a local burrito restaurant. It's delish!

I'm going to be a little petty. I wish El Sil would get Gata some image consultants or whatever you would call the folks that teach you how to walk and move. Gata may have better hair and dresses (I withhold comment on the shoes), but she's still clomping around.

I can't wait for tonight!!!

Forgot to add- I am wondering where the Ines/Garabato story is going. Will it intersect more with Gata's or is it just a side story?

At this point I would almost rather see Mariano and Gata start something....He sure seems to respect her more.

Good morning, 5ft.

For me, your best line was "He asks if it isn't possible he's just helping her out of the kindness of his heart, but since Lorenza doesn't actually have one, she can't understand that."

Indeed. I have to wonder if Lorenza and Augie are really the upper crust of society that they fancy themselves to be. Even if they are, I personally have never been very much impressed with social position; show me some actions, and I will know who you are.

So the Gata roll out is going to be a gradual thing, slowly unveiling her beauty and nobility to Pablo and his family. Who's the real reina here?

I feel so sorry for Monica. I wish she would go with her instincts and send Pablo packing, but of course, social pressure keeps her from listening to reason. The tighter this cheap watch of a relationship gets wound, the more explosive will the end result be.

Thanks, 5ft. I always enjoy your recounting of these events and your insights into the vocabulary and (especially) the idioms.

David

Thanks Kat! Ok. The show has sucked me in this week. And I'm really enjoying Sil playing with Low and Ughie.

Let me get this straight-- Pablo has been led to believe that his WIFE ran off and married some guy up north and had his babies, came back and became the woman of the Meatball, whom he knows she can't stand, and now has moved on and is going to marry some old sugar daddy in the mansion next door. Just how dumb is he?

He's pretty dumb! Even Mariano, our supposed bad boy, recognized that Gata was sincere and faithful!

The show is very addictive. Pull up a chair, Vivi. You know you want to. Lol.

Excellent Kat. Thanks for the nuance in the conversations

"she went shopping at Target instead of Neiman Marcus"

I'd like to see Esmeralda take a look at Mariano too. Pablo is a spoiled, entitled punk. Why hasn't he gotten a job or at least volunteered his time for something constructive.

Pablo - living the life of Riley

Esmeralda - cat walk to catwalk

Ines - yeah, at least my man is just sleeping with someone else not marrying them

Lorenza - well, that didn't go as I imagined

Monica - just use a gun it's quicker

Fernando - why don't you and your husband come over for dinner Friday

Mercedes - because you're imagining things

Jarocha - 3 squares, hot shower, roof over my head and off my back all day

Dorila - stealth bomber

Rita - timing is everything

Hi, Vivi. Yeah, this darned story does grow on you doesn't it?

Sara, I think the Ines/Esme contrast is speaking to what happens in the same household where one child is coddled and not held to any standard of behavior, while another is put through a life testing crucible. Esme has the inner strength to have grown from this experience, and Ines never developed a moral compass or any work ethic.

Also, the shoes that the man Esme will allow to be the father to her children are very large: Pissant Pablo has a lot of growing to do to fill them.

David

Pissant Pablo = Perfect!

Thanks for the welcome Sara and David. :) I have been keeping up with most of the recaps, and it's not like Nathalie Latoodle's tns are that hard to follow, so I think I'll be able to follow what's going on even jumping in now.

What I like, that I didn't like about her last one (CI), is that Esme seems a lot more sympathetic than Maricruz and empathetic with others. MC was fun sometimes, but lordy, that girl was self-centered. I also like that she's getting to have some real time with her long lost papa. And that there are stories that should be handled with care (the rape and impregnation of a deaf girl), that are totally screwed up and mishandled. She's keeping it simple here, which I like.

Forgot a word-- And that there are NO stories that should be handled with care (like the rape and impregnation of a deaf girl), that are totally screwed up and mishandled. She's keeping it simple here, which I like.

Argh! Mute girl. Not deaf.

Wait, she was both deaf and mute. I'm getting angry again. :}

And Esmeralda really seems to remember she has children.

Thanks, KAT. I missed this episode, so I especially appreciate your recap. daughter had a meeting , so hub and I had to take the little girls to dance class, give them dinner and baths, and get them to bed.

How does Rotten Rita think she will Profit from The Quiet Man being Kittyms dad ?

As for Kitty still clomping around, didn't Maricruz in CI have to walk around in heels with a book on her head ?

Susanlynn..geez, my comments are disappearing again.

I would like to see Kitty stop over at the mansion next door and ask to borrow a cup of sugar.

Tofie...I want to have lunch with you. Your one liners just get funnier and funnier.

Vivi and tofie- I love your CI and Gata comparisons. Esme really is a much worthier character.

Susanlynn-If it makes you fell any better, those of us subscribed to the thread are seeing all the comments when we receive e-mail notifiaction. They just don't seem to all show up on the page.

Thanks, Sara..That is good to know. I am sorry that I ever had this Ipad updated. I have a love hate relationship with this tablet which I have been calling Rita Lorenza.

Thanks a bunch 5ft for a great recap, so informative. The “vocab” is always “fab” and appreciated. The spanish version of the idiom “don't spit into the wind” is much more reserved than the version I’ve heard: “Don’t pi$$ into the wind” 
Although I like Monica I fail to see her as a victim in her relationship with Pablo considering her reasoning that “they should get married immediately so that woman can't take him from her.”
One thing I don’t quite understand. Why did El Silencio say “Pablo is going to have to re-marry Esme and claim the kids as his”? Is this a fact based on some legality or merely a part of the vengeance plan?

5ft---from yesterday. Due to the East Coast time difference I didn't have time to get back and post some more but you made me laugh when you suggested that maybe Monica's necklace came from the Lorenza for Juniors Collection
I think you are right with that.

Susanlynn---Monica as a hair puller, because she's not a street fighter. So funny. No, I don't think that Monica has thrown many punches in her young life, she definitely would be a hair puller.

A lot was said about Maite's makeover, most were disappointed as they thought it would be better. The gringo says that one should never criticize a goddess. I myself would prefer a soft more natural lipstick color, not a bright red but as I said, you don't criticize a goddess.

It looks like that tonight Maite/Gata goes into full goddess mode. I can't wait.
the gringo

I don't know what this says about me but I always get a kick out of novela characters "playing" drunk. (In real life I have 0 tolerance for drunken behavior).

Who is the actor that plays "Osorio", I believe that is his name. He was Marianne Karr's love interest in Amorcito Corazon and also appeared toward the end of CI as an investigator or detective. I really like him, one of my favorites, but never did know his name.

Gracias, Sara. That's the thing that bugs me about Mariano. He has just enough conscience that it bothers him, but not enough to tell the truth. He hasn't quite reached the point where he "loves" her enough to want her happiness, which is Pablo (unfortunately), and so he tells Pablo what's been going on so Pablo will stop being a punk and go back to her. On the other hand, I would still like to see Pablo actually change and grow in a meaningful way instead of "Oh, everybody lied to me? Oops! Sorry I feel for it, babe, won't happen again."

Gracias, David. Maybe the M-Ns only impress other people who are as shallow as they are? Unfortunately there are plenty of those to go around.

Gracias, Vivi. Hahahahaha...you cannot resist...the power of...La Gata! How dumb is Pablo...hm...well...the phrase "box of rocks" comes to mind.

Gracias, Susanlynn. I don't know what's going on with the disappearing comments, but I did get the email notice. I think has the delusional thought that if she's nice to Gata now, Gata will miss her enough to want Rita around at the big house. Or will remember that she owes Rita. Or something. Rita doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

Gracias, tofie. Pablo keeps saying he's looking for a job, but he's not getting hired. After last time, I don't know if Augie has something to do with it or if he's not conducting an effective job search. "Cat walk to catwalk" hell yeah!

Gracias, Foxy. I don't know what Sil was getting at with re-marrying Esme. Maybe he's just a better judge of human nature and thinks that once Pablo knows the truth, he'll want to re-marry Esme. My other thought was that he wants to force Pablo to do it. I started to wonder last night if he might put his own "vengeance" aside long enough to make them endure the "humiliation" of accepting Esme before he drops the hammer.

Gracias, gringo. I hope the big dress-up shindig comes early enough in the episode to enjoy it and not in the last five minutes!

emeraldrose, his name is Jorge Ortin. I always seem to see him playing cops.

5ft Diva---I don't know how you do it, you just keep getting better and better.

Jorocha was sorry that she missed the shows--shows plural. LOL Well there were two shows. Quite a show I must say. La Wild Gata.

Lowrenza states that their love was nothing with no consequences-
you mean like twins? A boy and a girl?

Right David---I feel sorry for Monica too. She's not a bad person, just a pawn caught up in the middle of a high stakes game.

Sara---You said that this show is very addictive, I would add another very to make it very, very addictive.
Too bad for all of the people that ran away because they didn't like the writer. Well it's there loss.

Gata shops at Target instead of Neiman Marcus. I don't think that Gata is familiar with Neiman Marcus. There isn't one located anywhere near the dump where she grew up.

Lorenza--Monica--Fernando--Jorocha
Dorila--Rita
Tofie---I think that there is going to have to be a limit on how many gold stars that you can get in one day. The stationery store is running out of them.

It will be a good time out on the patio tonight, I can't wait to join in on the fun. I hope Principe shows up.
the gringo

gringo, I think he's being a little silly about her wardrobe. Maybe he thinks chicks just automatically know how to do the whole "shopping" thing and will buy the most expensive stuff they can find when given a credit card with no limit, but Esme isn't like that. If her "look" is so important to him, he needs to hire someone to take her shopping. Damian and Meche don't count.

I am glad that Jarocha has moved into the mansion. Now, we need to bring Fela..Maria could come, too, to serve as a mother's helper.

As for Kitty's fashion sense, she did not have any fashion role models growing up in the dump. At least she did not buy an apron like Rita wears,

gringo said:
"Too bad for all of the people that ran away because they didn't like the writer."

I confess I was a little worried about this one because of the producer, but I love Maite so I couldn't resist.

I'm really glad I wasn't scared away. I've been thinking all week about what a nice group that has gathered on the La Gata wing of the patio. I am so enjoying the conversations and comments.

PS:
Kat- I think the box of rocks might be smarter than Pablo.

Foxy- I do not see Monica as a victim AT ALL!! Maybe I felt a little bad for her at the beginning, but she just wants to win/have her way. She may not be the typical, scheming villana...but in my mind she's just as bad.

Diva, thanks so much for your fine recap.

I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but what's with those babies? They're supposed to be twins, but couldn't they find two babies that are equal in size??

How will Esme take it when she finds out El Sil is her father?

Also, I would like to see Esme wear a pair of decent shoes, but not always those stupid boots.

Ann-NYC

Ann-NYC : I'm holding out hope that Esme will wear killer shoes to tonight's party. NO MORE BOOTS.

Sara---I do not see Monica as a victim at all. She just wants to win/have it her way.
Well yes, she wants to win. She has adored Pablo for a long time and would love to win him. She does have some pride in herself and thinks that even though he/Pablo isn't madly in love with her, she as a woman can change that. In a way though she is a victim or at the least, being used
She should win him over first instead of being rushed into the wedding too early by Pablo's parents--Lowenza particularly.
the gringo

Gracias, Ann! I'm guessing by the time she finds out who her father is, she'll understand why he didn't want to tell her and they'll have had a chance to build a relationship.

Sara and Ann, if she wears boots to that party I'm going to scream!

I agree with gringo, Monica is totally being used. She needs to spend a weekend at a self-help seminar or something and stop letting herself be manipulated by Lorenza. If she hadn't had the little Lorenza-devil on her shoulder, she would have stuck with her instincts about not wanting to have a miserable life being married to someone who doesn't love her. She doesn't have a single person listening to her concerns and validating her feelings without trying to influence her. Even Pablo was trying to get her to break off the engagement so he wouldn't have to do it himself. I have a hard time thinking of her as evil because of how much she's screwing herself over.

Ann-NYC re: the size of the babies. These babies are of different sexes, so they are not identical twins.

I totally agree with you about Esme's foot gear. I really hope she shows up at the big shin dig with something really elegant on her feet.

Sara, I'm still feeling like gringo and have a soft spot for Monica. I think she is caught up in a whirlwind of airheaded, disengaged parents and conniving future in-laws. I am not sure that Lorenza could define happiness correctly if she had to. What a person to be taking advice from!

David

Well, I am encouraged that one of my comments is still here. I still have no idea why my comments are disappearing. If only I could make people disappear..I digress.

I am so bummed that I missed Ferd deck Pablow and both Kitty and Pablow wearing the red lipstick.

I am constantly amazed that people in novelas pursue and are obsessed with people WHO DO NOT LOVE THEM. Talk about lessons in futility. Why would anyone want someone who does not want him or her ? I just do not get it.

...he's just a puppet..he has no character...who knew Pablow could be so self aware ???

David--What an astute comment:

"I am not sure that Lorenza could define happiness correctly if she had to. What a person to be taking advice from!"

All her life Lowrenza has probably told herself "I would be so happy if I had..."

I don't right out HATE Moncia the way I have other villanas, but I do find her annoying as hell. She's so...passive. And so set on Pablo that she's willing to enter into a loveless marriage thinking she could change his feelings. I guess I have to keep reminding myself that she is very young and I am very not, so I can see the folly of her thinking.

Monica is letting herself be victimized. NOT ONCE has Pablum told her "te amo" or even the second-tier "te quiero." He's told others he "quieros" her like a sister. She says she's afraid of marrying someone who doesn't love her and yet plans to do just that! Hello? But having said that, she IS the perfect life partner for Pablum. They'll be the perfect couple at home in ten years: she on the phone to her monster-in-law, crying and wondering if maybe this year he'll remember their anniversary with flowers that didn't come from his mommy, while he's getting drunk in his despacho, where he STILL doesn't do any work, crying and wondering how could she (Esme, the successful attorney) DO THIS TO ME?

Lol, Susanlynn...well, he was drunk :D

Anon @ 0406, I could see that. Now Monica just needs to imagine her future that way and start running.

Anon..yes, who said "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation." If MOnica marries Pablow, she will most surely be living a life of quiet desperation . Then, there's the life of loud desperation which Lowrentza leads.

Sara..yes...MOnica is passive..not even passive aggressive..just passive /boring /easily led . She is so docile . Does she really think that she can change Pablow ? Ask anyone who is married if he or she had any success changing his or her spouse. Marry a good person who is in love with you for all the right reasons. MOnica is beautiful so surely there could be other options than Poor Me Pablum. BooHoo hiccup burp . Pabs, did you find any solutions in the bottom of that bottle ?
