La Malquerida #58, 11/12/14: A Night of Confessions!

Mexico Episode #64

After Hector confesses to still being in love with Cris while hugging her, Esteban rushes in, pulls them apart and starts punching. Hector gives as good as he gets, and Cris gets between them and orders them to stop. They stop long enough for Este to manhandle Cris, and for Hector to fuss at him for doing so and say that this was not Cris’ fault. Este is not listening. He scuffles with Hector some more, then drags Cris out of there. Hector calls himself an idiot.

Norberto has been out all night with Julianita and they are making out in his car. He decides to buy her some expensive perfume, and they make out some more in public on the street in front of the shop. German catches them, and goes off on Norberto about betraying his mother and about his moral double standards. Norberto yells that German is nobody to judge him. “Yes I am-- I’m your son!” WHAP! Norberto whacks German across the face with his closed fist. German leaves with angry tears in his eyes, warning Norb that he won't let him hurt his mother. (Well, that was a short reconciliation.)

Out on the street, Cris insists that Este let her go and not treat her this way. She says that regardless of what Hector may feel for her, she only sees him as a friend. She has never betrayed Este, not even in her thoughts (he certainly can’t say the same). She would never cheat on him. Este refuses to believe it, says he doesn’t want to listen to lies, and demands that she cancel the art show and stop seeing Hector. “If you see him again, then forget about me.” “Very well then. Go.” (Woohoo! You go, Cris.)

Danilo has dragged Ale to his house of ill repute (services temporarily outsourced to a new location while the police heat is on). He tells Perla to get Ale gussied up. Is he putting Ale back to work? Nope. They are getting hitched right now at the justice of the peace/civil registry, and Perla is going to be their witness! Ale tries to change his mind. He points out that she’s the one who wanted to spare German’s feelings by not having a big wedding. Ale lies her pants off (if she had pants) and says she’s actually always wanted a HUGE wedding, with bridesmaids, music and all. That’s going to take time. And she’ll be good/obedient/affectionate, she promises. Ale caresses Dan’s face, and he starts kissing on her saying he'll show them all that she's HIS, while she tries not to vomit. Perla turns away with tears in her eyes.

Andres wants to call German before he and Carmen leave for Miami. Carmen loses it, refuses to listen to why he's so set on staying in contact with German (she suspects it's because he's Juliana's son), and threatens to go to Miami by herself. Andres drops the issue, for now.

Elena and JC discuss Cris and Este having marriage troubles. They decide to extend their stay in Benavente to help their daughter and son-in-law out.

Este watches Cris walk away (yes, her boots were made for walking), and calls himself an imbecile. (Any objections, Viewerville? I didn’t think so.) Cris goes right back to Hector’s office and reams him out for telling her he loves her, when she made clear to him what her feelings are. He apologizes, but also says he doesn’t like the way Este got abusive with her. Cris agrees, but also says Este was justified in getting ticked off after what he saw and heard. She denies there is anything wrong in her marriage. She asks Hector if he put this art show together just as a way of getting close to her. He denies it and says that the two things are separate. He believes in the greatness of her talent/art/photographs! They have to continue with the show! Cris refuses. There will be no show! She leaves a very sad Hector behind.

Perla gets sloppy drunk and cries as she watches Dan and Ale. Dan says they'll all be one big happy family, and Perla storms out of the room. Julianita rushes in, and Ale finds her opportunity to escape. Dan says he’ll visit her that night to talk wedding plans, and reminds her he’s having her watched. Julianita tells Dan that German saw her and Norb. He slaps her-- he's ticked that word of Norb’s involvement with Edelmira’s “niece” might get back to Esteban.

German talks to Lizy about his parent drama. He speaks about how people keep letting him down, and Lizy knows he’s talking about his ex. He hugs her and thanks her for being such a good friend who listens to him.

Speaking of friends, foolish birds of a feather Luisa and Acacia chat and both decide to testify against Uli. (WTF?) Acacia then confesses to Luisa that she and Manuel kissed, and the gloves come off! Luisa accuses Acacia of just using Manuel to forget Uli, when she has no feelings for him. Acacia tells Luisa she needs to move on from Manuel, who has no (romantic) feelings for her. Luisa wonders if Acacia thinks she should just wait around for Acacia to use Manuel and then gift him to Luisa, like she does with her cast-off used dresses? "How could you kiss the man I love, if you're supposedly my best friend?!" Acacia has everything, and yet she still wants more! Acacia again makes it all about her—she’s been betrayed and abandoned by the man she loved and she feels all alone. So alone, that she’s starting to feel things she shouldn’t—things that make her feel crazy. She begs Luisa to forgive her. Luisa reminds Acacia that she once told her that there are feelings beyond our control-- that the heart doesn't listen to reason. Well, that describes her feelings for Manuel- she just can’t quit him. She’s sorry that Acacia has lost so much—among them, her friendship. She leaves, and Acacia runs after her.

And runs into Este in the hallway. She asks about him and Cris. He pulls her into a hug and says things went badly. She pulls away and says they HAVE to reconcile. Este keeps moving into her personal space and asks why she is so desperate for him and Cris to reconcile—what is she afraid of? Acacia says her mother is his wife, his mujer, and runs off. Rubio stops Este from going after her.

Ale goes into the Soto general store and runs back out and hides when she hears German and Lizy laughing together. She goes back in after German leaves and asks Lizy if she and German are just friends. Lizy says it’s none of Ale’s business, considering that she dumped German for a guy with money. They are just friends for now, but she’s totally into him and will definitely go for it.

Medicine Girl and Medicine Woman talk about getting medicines in the nearest town for Uli. All three worry about the danger of going there and raising suspicions. MW decides to go the next day, but MG secretly makes the decision to go herself, so as to not put her grandma in danger. Later, MW tells Uli they have to hide him because some men are asking around about him. She wonders where MG is, and we learn MG’s name is Itzel. (Origin-- Mesoamerican. Itzel is derived from Ix Chel, an important Mesoamerican moon goddess. The name is often translated to: Moon Goddess; She of the Rainbow; or Star/Estrella.) MW decides to hide Uli in her giant wooden chest.

Estebad visits Alonso’s tomb (drink!). He curses Alonso and yells at him about his feelings for Acacia being a punishment. He thinks it’s a divine punishment for having KILLED HIM!!!!!! (Damn! I did not see THAT coming!)

In her room, Acacia cries and prays to her dad to help her not feel this way for Esteban. Rosa comes to tell her lunch is ready, and wonders why she and Luisa both have such long faces. Acacia cryptically tells her that Luisa has to realize that there can be nothing between her and Manuel, and it's better if Luisa explains. Rosa is not pleased to learn Manuel has something to do with it.

MW is one fine actress. When Memo and Patricio come into her cabin, guns drawn, she’s in bed, moaning and groaning like she’s sick and feverish. She says her old man’s gone to get her medicine in town, denies knowing anything about a young girl or an injured young guy, tells them to check another part of town, pleads with them not to rob her, and begs them to give her some water. They leave frustrated and angry. Uli, crouched in the chest with gun at the ready, is relieved.

A shadow passes over Al's tomb (unfortunately, it's not the Ghost of Al come to tell these people to leave him the hell alone), and Este sees Rubio enter. He throws him across the tomb, starts to choke him, and tells him to forget the confession he just heard! Rubio pledges his undying loyalty again. Este then goes on to rant about how he fell in love with Cris from the first moment he saw her. He resented Alonso because he had Cris, and because he could never make a success of the hacienda because he was too weak and trusting. Al couldn’t see through all of Norberto’s dirty tricks to ruin the hacienda. Este couldn’t stand the idea of Cris being left with nothing. His love for her was driving him crazy, and that’s why he KILLED Alonso.

Manuel and Norberto discuss the possibility that Carmen and Andres may soon find Nuria. Manuel is surprised Norb didn’t have Nuria disappeared/kidnapped with Uli. (Really Manuel? This is how evil you’ve become?) Norb explains that she had already disappeared when they kidnapped Uli. In any case, if she is found, this could be bad news for Manuel once it’s proven Uli didn’t run off with her. A woman can forgive a man committing fraud easier than she can forgive a man running off with another woman. They can't even be sure Uli participated in the fraud. Manuel says he'll use Luisa as his spy to give him any updates if Uli shows up.

Uli and MW get worried about Itzel, and Uli wants MW to go search for her. Just then, Itzel runs in with the medicines. She’s sure the men did not see her.

Rubio snakes his way around Este-reallyreallybad and says sometimes we have to do things we don’t want to do, and only the strong deserve to survive. Este says some blah blah about how a day doesn’t go by that he doesn’t feel bad about what he did. (Uh huh. Were those any of the days he sat in Al’s chair in the office or at the table? Any of the countless nights he made love to Al’s widow? Or the lustful afternoons he’s spent fantasizing about Al’s daughter?) It wasn’t until he saw Cris’ happy face each day that he could find peace. “Until the patroncita arrived. If she knew what you did to her papa…” Este threatens to kill Rubio if he opens his mouth-- he now knows what he's capable of. Rubio leaves and comes back with a bottle of tequila, which Este starts to down. Rubio says that humans are sometimes like animals- we don’t think, we just go after what we want. Este talks about how happy he was—having saved the ranch and being with the love of his life, Cris. Rubio points out that Acacia is now smack dab in the middle, and hey, if life has put this opportunity on his path, then he should take it. Este says he can’t do that to Cris, it would kill her. Rubio reminds him that he just found her in the arms of another man.

Cris comes home upset and tells her parents what happened with Hector and Esteban. Acacia overhears and gets all up in Cris’ business. She gets angry with Cris and stomps off to her room, wondering to herself if it’s possible that Cris no longer loves Este (how she got that from what Cris said is beyond me). Cris follows her and tries to explain, but Acacia gets on her high horse about how Cris was just getting on her case about kissing Manuel, when she’s free and single, and here Cris is hugging a man (the hussy!) when she’s married! Esteban doesn’t deserve to be treated this way! (Oh, please!)

Meanwhile, Rubio continues to prod Este’s darker nature. He thinks it would be best if Este pushes Cris on to another man. That way, he’ll look like the injured party in Acacia’s eyes. The only problem is the money. Acacia is used to the finer things, and Este has nothing to offer her. But he thinks Este would be capable of convincing Acacia to snatch the lands away from her mother…(Wow! Rubio is a supreme puppet master, and I’m really starting to see his dark plan take shape.)

Danilo visits Norberto at the Association to warn him about being more discreet with Julianita. He doesn’t need Norb’s wife or the police breathing down his neck. And, he doesn’t want Norb to get any ideas about making Julianita his mistress- she belongs to him (Dan). Norb says ok. He has other business to talk about. They have to find Nuria.

In the reception area, Ale asks German if he’ll finish his work on time to see Lizy. He tells her it’s none of her biz. She says it’s not fair for him to hurt Lizy if he doesn’t really care about her. German points out that she’s marrying Dan, even though she doesn’t care about/love him. Ale catches herself and says he’s right. She sincerely wishes him and Lizy happiness together. German is confused, he leans in close and says he doesn’t get her—just as Dan walks in and catches them. German leaves immediately, and Danilo angrily strikes the wall with his cane as he glowers at Ale. He tells her she has very little time left working there, and then she will never see German again. He then orders her to report to him on Norberto and anything he does dealing with Julianita.

Juliana abuses Andres’ secretary on the phone because she won’t tell her where Andres travelled. Manuel comes in and wonders if she’s really ready for the whole truth to come out. Doesn’t she know how much this will hurt German? Juliana says she also has to think about herself (surprise, surprise). She can't stand Norberto's abuses anymore.

German scolds Norb in his office. Now he knows why he and Dan are such good friends—Dan is stepping out with the aunt, and Norb with the niece!
G: Can’t you put yourself in my mother’s place?
N: Your mother is no saint!
G: Don’t speak badly about my mother.
N: It’s the truth! She has NEVER loved me. She only married me because she was pregnant by another man!
G: What are you saying?
N: You are not my son!

Norb confesses that Juliana only married him because she was pregnant, to give German a name, and because he had money. German can’t believe it. Norb says he tried to treat German as his own (yeah, right), but Juliana reminded him of it every day with her cold indifference.
G: Who is my father?
N: The one who engendered you? (Your sperm donor?) That guy? Your beloved friend—Andres Vivanco.
G: What?!!

Norberto says that's why he never wanted German to paint, because that jerk painted. He says Andres has known the truth a few days now, and instead of going right away to see German, he ran off to the States to look for Ulises.

Cris tells Elena about how she told Este to hit the road when they argued. But she doesn’t want to lose Esteban, and the worst thing is that Acacia is on his side.

Acacia strokes Este’s horse (get your minds out of the gutter), and wonders aloud about how hurt Estebone must be right now. Este comes up and says she’s right. He’s in bad shape and he needs her. He approaches her and envelops her in an (inappropriate) embrace. They pull away slightly, look into each other’s eyes, and then mouth-meld into a passionate KISS!!!

And just for fun, here are some comparisons between posters for the 1949 La Malquerida movie, and for this telenovela.

Avances: Hector tells Este that it seems he spends more time with Acacia than with Cris. Este tells Cris that he's leaving the hacienda.

According to BlogRumores tweet is that Que te Perdone Dios begins Monday January 19, 2015, that's why Univision is editing again??

Tuesday's and Wednesday's episodes weren't edited. Can't say what the future holds.

If a new one starts on Jan 19, Uni wouldn't have to cut much from LA Malquerida to end it by that date. Taking into account probably holiday pre-emptions, they'd have to cut about a week and a half off the run.

A shame to start editing at this point in the telenovela. It is reaching the point in the story where ratings really started to rise in Mexico.

Thank you Vivi. Love your recap.

Well, son of a goose! That sick old pervert "Galan" is not only a dog,(lusting for both mom and daughter), "not human" per what's his name, right hand man, but also a murderer. Bottom line, an envious greedy evil man in disguise. He makes me sick...And please writers, don't make him look like he has a conscience or a soul. And as I mentioned before in previous capitulo, why is the writer justifying this evil person and Acacia by adding the unfortunate scene of Cris and her ex suitor.
Mea culpa for thinking that Norberto was the killer of Alonso.
please everybody, excuse my rant. I'm just livid. Anne

Thanks Alex and RG for updating us on Uni's plans for the tn that will replace this one. Glad to know that although there will likely be some cutting, it won't be too severe.

Anne- What an episode, huh? I don't think the writers are justifying Acacia and Este's actions at all. I think THEY (A & E) are trying to use the Hector debacle to justify doing something they have both desired to do for a long time, and it's wrong, wrong, wrong!

The writers revealing what a covetus, murderous, snake in the grass Este is, just before the kiss, drives home the point that what A&E are doing isn't right.

By the way, I'm glad I watched this epi online before I saw Uni's preview for Wed, because I was taken aback when Este made his confession. Uni gave WAY too much away.

Vivi, last night's revelations were jarring and numbing. Surprises - all of them earthshattering and heartbreaking.

Thank you for guiding us through this mine field with your usual honest, caring insight. Needless to say, it was beautifully constructed as always.

"Ale lies her pants off (if she had pants)" and "Meanwhile, Rubio continues to prod Este’s darker nature" were among my favorites.

I love that you always provide such interesting information, including the origin of Itzel's name. Thank you amiga.

Shall we begin with "He thinks it’s a divine punishment for having KILLED HIM!!!!!!" I thought in the previews the other night it showed the rock slide that killed Alonso with Este standing on top but I thought I dreamed that. Apparantly not. What a twist...

Anne, we all thought Norberto killed Alonso! I am offering him a small apology but he is guilty of many crimes including spearheading what happened to Uli. And I agree with everything you said about Este.

Speaking of Norberto, what a terrible, cruel way he told German that Andres is his father!
"He says Andres has known the truth a few days now, and instead of going right away to see German, he ran off to the States to look for Ulises". Ack. But the good news is that Andres is a wonderful man and hopefully German will soon be able to accept the truth and finally have the father he deserves.

And Vivi, yes, Manuel is certainly entering the dark side.

I am very upset that Hector chose such an inopportune moment to reveal his hand and his heart. He realized too late what he had done. How sick that Este was there and turned the situation around.

We now know that Este is a cold blooded killer so his finally kissing Acacia comes as no surprise. But Acacia! How could she do that to her mother!!? She is always stewing in self pity and thinks of no one but herself.

I love how Cris stood up to Este. She has been so strong. But how will Cris deal with everything - her present husband killed her first husband and is now cheating on her with her daughter. I hope Elenita and Juan Carlos stay close at hand.

Ale now wants a big weddding. I cannot blame her - anything to buy her more time! Please writers, do not let this marriage happen. That said, I keep thinking that German still doesn't know about Ale's past, not only about her "life" with Danilo but her forced prostitution as well.

Sorry for going on but there is so much to say!

Vivi, thank you for the excellent recap.

Diana

Thank you, Vivi.

I can't comment any more right now, I'm still trying to wrap my head aroun everything that has happened last night.
Mind blowing!

Diana- I love your long comments. Hope we'll see more of them today. :)

ITA about Acacia. She just got yelled at by her best friend for kissing the man she loves, and what does she turn around and do? Kisses the man her mother loves! Like I've said before, she has a good heart, but is also self centered and selfish. Everything centers around how SHE feels.

And I also meant to say Vivi that Rubio is indeed a puppet master. We are now seeing some of what is transpiring in that feverish little brain of his.

I've definitely underestimated him.

Diana

Wow, awesome Vivi.

My head is abuzz but want to get something out before my rational mind takes back over.

What a great job the writers & actors. Loved the suspense, sexual tension & justification Esteban & Acacia both used. Though my head & heart said NO, last night was about lust and I was not disappointed.

Adriana- Mind blowing is right! Looking forward to your comments later once you've had time to process.

Yes Vivi! Acacia is targeting the men of everyone she supposedly cares about!

Word to the wise: German and Artuto - make yourselves scarce ;)

Diana

Tofie- Yes! There was really some great acting last night, a big pat on the back for the writers too!

tofie "Though my head & heart said NO, last night was about lust and I was not disappointed".

Very well said!!

Diana

Diana- But she can have Dan if she wants him. I'm sure Ale wouldn't mind. ;)

WOW and YIKES and GAH I don't think that I have ever seen do much revealed in one episode of a Novela. Vivi, thanks so much for that excellent , detailed recaps and all your thoughts. I loved the posters.

I had no idea that Esteawful was Alonso's killer. I thought that we had been told that Norb was the killer. However, I cannot understand much Spanish. Someone did post a guess that Estedreadful was the killer.

Then, I thought that Rubio knew that Esteterrible was the murderer and that's why Estemonster put up with him constantly skulking around. Wrong again.

So much for the possibility of Estedeadtome snapping out of it and coming to Uly and Ale's rescue. I started getting suspicious when he found out from Rubio that Uly had been disappeared , and he did NOTHINg about it. I galan would never do that to an innocent no matter what.

Now we have a shortage of galans..and they are young..Uly, Arturo, German, Hector has now stepped in to the senior galan position and will surely end up with his first love Cris. YAY I guess Uly will have to limp home and save the day. I do not want stupid, immature, weak Ack to end up with him.

Susanlynn- LOL! I love all your new names for Este. He fell off the galan bandwagon a long time ago for me, but ignoring Uli's plight definitely put the nail in the coffin. It will be difficult for Hector to get close to Cris now that she's determined to put distance between them. But I hope he finds a reason to stick around.

Susanlynn- Don't forget to add Andres to your senior galan list.

Estedark has finally let his mask drop completely. Now we know why he seemed to see himself reflected in Damnilo's evil visage. He is just as evil as that devil. In real life, people wear masks...case in point my ex soninlaw.

All this time , I chalked up Este's desires and obsession for Ack to a huge middle life crisis of a dude who did not have a chance to sew those teenage wild oats due to being a hardworking peon. Surprise. Poor Cris. instead of just dealing with this hombre lusting after her daughter, she will discover that he killed her beautiful, beloved first husband. Uff

How will Este's heart of darkness be revealed?. I guess Runio is the only one who knows that he killed Alonso. Hey...now I understand why Este was always down in that tomb bothering poor Alonso. Maybe we will get an Edgar Allen Poe ending..Este sealed in that tomb alive. ..Cask Of Amnontilla style. Got to go off to teach a chapter about gifted children and prodigies. Later, gators. I cannot wait to read the comments when I return.

Thank you for the recap! I love it!
And yeah, I don't care about all the creepy things between A&E, but Ariadne Diaz and Christian Meier have amazing chemistry, just can't deny it! WHAT A KISS!
Thank you again!

You're welcome, GretaZwans. And thanks for commenting. Hope we see you here again.

Susanlynn: So enjoyed all your nicknames but Estedeadtome says it all!

Este and Rubio are becoming more like Saruman and Wormtongue daily. Blech.

Diana

Yep. GretaZwans what a kiss. Went back and watched again and wow. Smoking

Thank you for the recap!

Acacia really had no fear or hesitation in scolding Cris and defending Estebonkers. Wow. And that kiss! Looks like that's the beginning of their secret affair.

Although I'm not surprised that Norbie ended up telling Germán about Andres (I didn't think Juliana would do it. If she had it would've been for her benefit to get closer to Andres), I can't believe he's making Germán think that Andres doesn't care about him. If Andres had approached Germán and told him the truth first, Germán would've hated him, BUT Norbie is making Germán hate Andres anyway.

VIVI AND GLORIA:

Except for last night, for the past few weeks, I have been writing summaries on the chance you weren't able to recap Gloria.

Now that you are back Vivi,(and so delighted that you are!)I am going to assume that the recaps are being covered. Therefore, I'm not going to continue to stay up each night writing a back up. I look forward to getting a bit more sleep!

However, if either of you are not able to recap, if you post something to that effect on that afternoon's comments, I would be happy to try and pull something together as I have these past few weeks, if it would be of any help.

It won't be the caliber of either of your summaries, but at least it will be something :)

Diana

First off, thank you Vivi for this splendid recap. And for the posters! Dang… we didn’t get a sombrero in our version.

Hot DAMN this was one astonishing episode. I’m with you Susanlynn – I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much happen in a novela in just one night.

This thing is positively Shakespearean. The story really has heft, and most of the baddies are complex, with some good in them along with the bad. Rubio is a particularly well-drawn and fascinating character.

And here we thought Este was a good man who was just suffering from lust. Well, his not saying anything about Ulysses being disappeared was tipping us off that something wasn’t quite right, and his recent nutsy outbursts were making us wonder about him, but still! A killer??!!!! THE killer???!!!!

I was shocked that Este kissed Acacia outside! In the daylight! Right in front of the hacienda! Right where every workman, or anybody coming and going, could easily see them!

Here are some more exclamation marks: !!!!!!!!!!!!
This episode calls for them.

In every telenovia that I've watched, the villains and heroes are clearly drawn and are easy to spot without much gray. You can usually quickly figure out who will be together in the end and which folks will be getting an anvil dropped on them. Not so with this fascinating show.

Yes, Maggie. I thought that Estedamnednow was just a guy going through a major midlife crisis and trying to recapture a youth he never had with a sweet, supple, young and innocent girl. NO He killed her father !!! I could not think of that kiss as hot because all I could think of was "Acacia, you are kissing the dude who killed you DAD." Yikes ack gah

Oh my...poor Cris when she finally discovers that she has been sleeping with and sharing her life with her husband's killer all these years. Hector, come save her. Who will unmask Estegoingstraighttohell ??? It seems that Rubio is the only person who knows that Este is Alonso's murderer. Hector seems to be the only other person who sees something wrong happening between Este and Ack. I hope that Ack and Este never actually do the bunny hop.

Wow!!! I don't think that I have ever seen so much going on in one episode before. Where to start???

Start with Vivi---You've come back from your operation better than ever and that is saying something because you were always on top of the Caray blogger's mountain.

Vivi, you were fantastic. A shadow
passes over Al's tomb (unfortunately it's not the ghost of Al to come to tell these people to leave him the hell alone.)

Rubio the puppet master (thanks Vivi)is smarter than we gave him credit for. He's got Este's number and is manipulating him like a master puppeteer.

So Rubio says that only the strong deserve to survive. And some have said that this guy is not all that bad. QUE?

Can things get any more dysfunctional I ask?

Acacia and Luisa are no longer friends. I guess that I should have seen it coming because Manuel
was involved but I missed it. What's going to happen with those two now?

Poor Ale just can't get a brake. Is she the Malquerida?

Vivi---You sure got Acacia right with self centered and shellfish. Spoiled should be added also.

Pretty boy Manuel is on the dark side now. I can't wait to see what his anvil will look like.

Cris is one tough cookie. These boots are made for walking. She tells Este, "very well, then go."

Well he did go, right to Acacia.

I watched that hot kiss scene closely last night. It did seem to me that Esteban did make/start
the move but Acacia was waiting for it and more than willing to receive it. I loved Ulises, I'm starting to love Manuel? Well there just boys, Este is a MAN.
Oh Acacia, where are you going with this?

How many names can one guy have?
Susanlynn I think that most of these are yours.
Estebone
estebonkers
Estebad
Estebum
Estawful
Esteterrible
Estemonster
Estedeadtome

Where is all this big mess going?
Must see TV tonight.
the gringo

Gee, I never suspected that Este is far worse than Norb because the writers cleverly led us to believe that Este was the good guy and Norb was the bad guy. As in life, appearances are sometimes deceiving and people are not always what they seem to be. A good lesson to learn

Diana- It would be fabulous if you could do one of your excellent mini-caps of tonight's episode. I'll happily post the discussion page. Can we make Thursdays your day? You know we are all happy to fill in anything missed in comments.

Just got back from the doctor's office. Everything is healing well, but I think I hurt myself a bit doing all that walking, stair climbing, and metro-ing to get there. I took a cab back!

TF- I hope that Andres can quickly clear up the lie Norberto told German when he gets back. But until then, German is going to continue to feel betrayed by all those near and dear to him- Ale, Juliana, Norberto, Andres. And might be mad when he learns Manuel knew and didn't tell him. Manuel better not say that stupidity about them not really being brothers!

Maggie- "This thing is positively Shakespearean. The story really has heft, and most of the baddies are complex, with some good in them along with the bad."

Yes! I had been thinking of it as a Greek tragedy, but the characters are more complex than that, so Shakespearean seems more appropriate. It's hard to know where this is all going to end up-- well, except for in TEARS!

Gringo- Thanks amigo mio! I am sure the writers will find plenty more ways to make this story dysfunctional. :)

I agree Vivi.

Hasn't Manuel heard of the term "half sibling (medio hermano)? Like I said before, I do think Germán will believe Andres and take his side and also I said I think Norbie has a better chance at redemption than Juliana so if that happens at least Germán will have two fathers.

Vivi...Be careful not to overdo just because you are feeling better. You were wise to take a cab back home. You need to rest and relax for awhile to get completely back on your feet.

So many of the good guys are wounded and in jeopardy. I suppose it will be Uly who rallies the troops if he is able to recover and drag himself home, Then, Arturo and German can help him figure out what and where the evil forces lie...Damnilo, Este-evil, Rubio, and Norb to a lesser extent. Hector and Andres and old JC need to join with the young bucks to fight the evil that is rapidly spreading. Instead of one major galan , we seem to have a team of young and older galans.

Maggie- That sombrero is its own character. Pedro Armendariz (QEPD) already had great screen presence. I can only imagine him in his younger days, with his swagger, that voice, and THAT sombrero! I'm thinking the size is a sign of that version's Esteban's authority and virility. ;-)

What does our Estebad have?

Vivi, I'm glad you took a cab back. Please take care of yourself - it is so easy to overdo it.

I would be happy to do a mini-cap for tonight and take Thursdays (I will be gone for a week right after Christmas though).

I'm a little anxious as there was so much dialog I missed the past few nights. However, as you assure me everyone will pitch in and help with what I missed, that will be great.

Perla , Juli Jr., Norb, Rubio, and Memo all know exactly who Damnilo is and can help Ale reveal his crimes. However, nobody seems to suspect that Este is not a good guy except Rubio and Hector, and unless Este confesses at some point, Rubio will have to reveal that Este killed Alonso. I think that both Este and Damnilo will die instead of going to prison.

Did Damnilo hire Nuria ? If Carmen and Andres track her down in Miami, will she confess and tell who hired her ?

Vivi...hmmm."What dies our Estebad have ?"...................a huge libido , lots of machismo, no willpower or morality, and very little sense ?

Vivi – Your writing was on fire. This was a head-snapping episode and you captured all its emotion. Thanks for the bonus on Itzel’s name and the camparison posters between the 1940s version and this one. Please take care of yourself and get some rest. My favorites:

Well, that was a short reconciliation.

A shadow passes over Al's tomb (unfortunately, it's not the Ghost of Al come to tell these people to leave him the hell alone),

Juliana says she also has to think about herself (surprise, surprise)

Este watches Cris walk away (yes, her boots were made for walking),

I’m betting that that kiss was only in somebody’s imagination, probably Acacia’s. The girl is as annoying as hell, but I think she respects her mother enough not to kiss Este at their estate out in the open in broad daylight. Tonight is certainly must-see TV.

The writers seem to be rewriting history. I remember Norberto giving an order to cause Alonso to have an accident and then receiving a confirmation phone call that it had been done. Just coincidence that he and Este had the same plan?

At first I thought Este meant that while riding his horse he was the one that had inadvertently dislodged the boulder that creamed Alonso. I’m wondering if this is a major change from the original and earlier version. Maybe the TN writers didn’t think the audience could handle having an otherwise good guy toss his wife aside for her daughter, so they decided to make Este bad, really bad?

Poor Cris has been sleeping with the enemy all this time. I’m taking her off pregnancy watch cause having a little one with Este would be just too cruel.

I’m glad Luisa and Acacia broke up for now. Luisa needs to get out from Acacia’s shadow.

Uli, open your eyes. Medicine Girl (Itzel) and her grandma Medicine Woman got it going on. These are women of action, no time for whining or hissy fits. I’ll bet if you take Itzel to the beach, you’ll see she can be a Bikini Goddess too.

I almost forgot to mention that my favorite part of this episode was when Julianita told Danilo that Norbie's son "el guapote" saw her and Norbie together. Does she too have a crush on German. Well we here do call him big sexy.

Niecie---Itzel as a bikini goddess too? Yes you are probably right on that one and I would really like to see Ulises end up with her. However Itzel doesn't have the lead role so I don't see that happening. My guess is that in the end Acacia will see her wrong ways and come crying and whining to Ulises saying that she is sorry for ever doubting him and PLEASE--PLEASE forgive me, I love you I'm SORRY. PLEASE forgive me, he will and Itzel will be out of the picture.

@Vivi, I am glad you're well. Thanks for the recap. Gringo you forgot Estecreep, EsStalker. Oh there is no going back after that kiss. It would be like putting toothpaste back in the tube after you squeezed it out. just try it. I have no words for the shenanigans going on. By the way, Mexico aired one final and had two more online so for us it could be any of the three. Oh joy!

I am bummed that I have to wait until I watch my recording tomorrow morning to find out what happens next. Was that kiss we saw a dream or the real deal ? Blecchh ....Do not do it Ack.

Hector..do not stay away..Cris needs you. You are the only one who sees Este's lust for Ack although Manuel seems to be getting suspicious. ....even though he is an egotistical, spoiled little boy ....and a dim bulb.

Gringo, "I loved Ulises, I'm starting to love Manuel? Well they're just boys, Este is a MAN."

That was very clear last night

I know it was pride and independence that made Cris bristle at the ultimatum Esteban delivered but even her parents and later she questioned if running back to Hector (though to set his ass straight) the best move. Esteban & Acacia have orbited each other looking for justification and both found it last night. I think the timing of the disclosure, Esteban the person responsible for Alonso's death, the depth to which he would sink for an obsession, (flames fanned by Rubio) just added to my ah ha moment and the wreck happened in slow motion. I fear with that devil Rubio whispering in his ear, Cris in jeopardy.

Please keep Itzel safe and not hurt for helping Ulsis. Don't know though if Acacia should reunite with him. It takes two to tango.

While listening to the Esteban disclosure at first it sounded as though Esteban could have stopped Alonso's death but didn't. Leading me to think it wasn't on his order but stood passively and let it happen. Did I hear wrong?

tofie...I do not understand much of the dialogue, so I am clueless as to what really happened. Did Este say that he intentionally killed Alonso or did he mean that he somehow feels resonsible for his death ?

Tofie- Nope. He said plainly that he killed Alonso. Not anything like he "let" him die.

Even if Itzel isn't a bikini goddess, she is by rights of her name the Moon Goddess. :)

I also hope that Itzel doesn't get hurt while trying to help Uli connect with Acacia. That girl is brave! I continue to be impressed with her and her grandma.

Thanks Vivi. I knew he was responsible but was fuzzy on if it was by omission of a warning or the actual commission of a crime.

That the case, Cris better watch her back. Rubio is on him about who holds the cash and to think about Acacia fighting for it but could be easily handled with an unfortunate disappearance or accident.

Niecie- Thanks, amiga! In the play (turned into movies, but never a tn until now), Esteban was no boyscout.

Ohhh..perhaps Este's downfall will not be the revealing of him as Alonso's killer, but rather his attempt to kill off Cris . Rubio does seem to be trying to encourage him in pursuing Ack...but why ? Does Rubio think he has a chance with Cris? ..not likely. Will Rubio rat out Este ? Was Rubio working at the hacienda when Alonso was killed ?

Niecie "I’m betting that that kiss was only in somebody’s imagination, probably Acacia’s".

While I thought other teasers were mere spoilers, this looked painfully and pitifully real. I will have to watch very closely tonight.

I'm with you gringo in pondering "Where is all this big mess going? I loved your list - Susanlynn has always come up with the most clever nicknames.

Of course, I think I was the lone person to say Uli was dead and we all know how right I was on that! Sigh.

Diana

Susanlynn- No. Rubio wasn't working on the hacienda when Al was there. He never knew Al.

Considering he's encouraging Este to get Acacia to take the lands from Cris, I don't think Cris is Rubio's endgame. I don't think his plan is as simplistic as marry the patrona to get power of the land. He seems to have a long, complex end game, that's more like a game of chess.

Vivi,
Thanks so much for you awesome recap of a shockineg epi.

I was totally taken back by Este's admission of killing Alonso. I was totally caught off guard. I, like some of you, thought that Este had some obsession problems, and was creepy at times, but I never thought he was a killer. I think that maybe Norberto knows about the murder, and that's why he doesn't want to get on Este's bad side. Because Norbe knows what Este's capable of.

I too found the kiss between Acacia and Este to be very passionate, but couldn't help thinking, "if you only knew that he killed your father!"

Thanks again Vivi! Hasta pronto.

p.s. Vivi, glad to see that you are well enough to write these action packed recaps again. Please take care of yourself!

AuntyAnn- Thanks for the well wishes, and thanks for the great comment.

"if you only knew that he killed your father!"

Perhaps that will be Acacia's cross to bear by the end, knowing that she betrayed her mother with the man who killed the beloved father she sees as a saint and a superhero.
