La Malquerida #58, 11/12/14: A Night of Confessions!
Danilo has dragged Ale to his house of ill repute (services temporarily outsourced to a new location while the police heat is on). He tells Perla to get Ale gussied up. Is he putting Ale back to work? Nope. They are getting hitched right now at the justice of the peace/civil registry, and Perla is going to be their witness! Ale tries to change his mind. He points out that she’s the one who wanted to spare German’s feelings by not having a big wedding. Ale lies her pants off (if she had pants) and says she’s actually always wanted a HUGE wedding, with bridesmaids, music and all. That’s going to take time. And she’ll be good/obedient/affectionate, she promises. Ale caresses Dan’s face, and he starts kissing on her saying he'll show them all that she's HIS, while she tries not to vomit. Perla turns away with tears in her eyes.
Andres wants to call German before he and Carmen leave for Miami. Carmen loses it, refuses to listen to why he's so set on staying in contact with German (she suspects it's because he's Juliana's son), and threatens to go to Miami by herself. Andres drops the issue, for now.
And just for fun, here are some comparisons between posters for the 1949 La Malquerida movie, and for this telenovela.
Labels: malquerida
If a new one starts on Jan 19, Uni wouldn't have to cut much from LA Malquerida to end it by that date. Taking into account probably holiday pre-emptions, they'd have to cut about a week and a half off the run.
A shame to start editing at this point in the telenovela. It is reaching the point in the story where ratings really started to rise in Mexico.
Well, son of a goose! That sick old pervert "Galan" is not only a dog,(lusting for both mom and daughter), "not human" per what's his name, right hand man, but also a murderer. Bottom line, an envious greedy evil man in disguise. He makes me sick...And please writers, don't make him look like he has a conscience or a soul. And as I mentioned before in previous capitulo, why is the writer justifying this evil person and Acacia by adding the unfortunate scene of Cris and her ex suitor.
Mea culpa for thinking that Norberto was the killer of Alonso.
please everybody, excuse my rant. I'm just livid. Anne
Anne- What an episode, huh? I don't think the writers are justifying Acacia and Este's actions at all. I think THEY (A & E) are trying to use the Hector debacle to justify doing something they have both desired to do for a long time, and it's wrong, wrong, wrong!
The writers revealing what a covetus, murderous, snake in the grass Este is, just before the kiss, drives home the point that what A&E are doing isn't right.
By the way, I'm glad I watched this epi online before I saw Uni's preview for Wed, because I was taken aback when Este made his confession. Uni gave WAY too much away.
Thank you for guiding us through this mine field with your usual honest, caring insight. Needless to say, it was beautifully constructed as always.
"Ale lies her pants off (if she had pants)" and "Meanwhile, Rubio continues to prod Este’s darker nature" were among my favorites.
I love that you always provide such interesting information, including the origin of Itzel's name. Thank you amiga.
Shall we begin with "He thinks it’s a divine punishment for having KILLED HIM!!!!!!" I thought in the previews the other night it showed the rock slide that killed Alonso with Este standing on top but I thought I dreamed that. Apparantly not. What a twist...
Anne, we all thought Norberto killed Alonso! I am offering him a small apology but he is guilty of many crimes including spearheading what happened to Uli. And I agree with everything you said about Este.
Speaking of Norberto, what a terrible, cruel way he told German that Andres is his father!
"He says Andres has known the truth a few days now, and instead of going right away to see German, he ran off to the States to look for Ulises". Ack. But the good news is that Andres is a wonderful man and hopefully German will soon be able to accept the truth and finally have the father he deserves.
And Vivi, yes, Manuel is certainly entering the dark side.
I am very upset that Hector chose such an inopportune moment to reveal his hand and his heart. He realized too late what he had done. How sick that Este was there and turned the situation around.
We now know that Este is a cold blooded killer so his finally kissing Acacia comes as no surprise. But Acacia! How could she do that to her mother!!? She is always stewing in self pity and thinks of no one but herself.
I love how Cris stood up to Este. She has been so strong. But how will Cris deal with everything - her present husband killed her first husband and is now cheating on her with her daughter. I hope Elenita and Juan Carlos stay close at hand.
Ale now wants a big weddding. I cannot blame her - anything to buy her more time! Please writers, do not let this marriage happen. That said, I keep thinking that German still doesn't know about Ale's past, not only about her "life" with Danilo but her forced prostitution as well.
Sorry for going on but there is so much to say!
Vivi, thank you for the excellent recap.
Diana
I can't comment any more right now, I'm still trying to wrap my head aroun everything that has happened last night.
Mind blowing!
ITA about Acacia. She just got yelled at by her best friend for kissing the man she loves, and what does she turn around and do? Kisses the man her mother loves! Like I've said before, she has a good heart, but is also self centered and selfish. Everything centers around how SHE feels.
I've definitely underestimated him.
Diana
My head is abuzz but want to get something out before my rational mind takes back over.
What a great job the writers & actors. Loved the suspense, sexual tension & justification Esteban & Acacia both used. Though my head & heart said NO, last night was about lust and I was not disappointed.
Word to the wise: German and Artuto - make yourselves scarce ;)
Diana
Very well said!!
Diana
I had no idea that Esteawful was Alonso's killer. I thought that we had been told that Norb was the killer. However, I cannot understand much Spanish. Someone did post a guess that Estedreadful was the killer.
Then, I thought that Rubio knew that Esteterrible was the murderer and that's why Estemonster put up with him constantly skulking around. Wrong again.
Now we have a shortage of galans..and they are young..Uly, Arturo, German, Hector has now stepped in to the senior galan position and will surely end up with his first love Cris. YAY I guess Uly will have to limp home and save the day. I do not want stupid, immature, weak Ack to end up with him.
All this time , I chalked up Este's desires and obsession for Ack to a huge middle life crisis of a dude who did not have a chance to sew those teenage wild oats due to being a hardworking peon. Surprise. Poor Cris. instead of just dealing with this hombre lusting after her daughter, she will discover that he killed her beautiful, beloved first husband. Uff
And yeah, I don't care about all the creepy things between A&E, but Ariadne Diaz and Christian Meier have amazing chemistry, just can't deny it! WHAT A KISS!
Thank you again!
Este and Rubio are becoming more like Saruman and Wormtongue daily. Blech.
Diana
Acacia really had no fear or hesitation in scolding Cris and defending Estebonkers. Wow. And that kiss! Looks like that's the beginning of their secret affair.
Although I'm not surprised that Norbie ended up telling Germán about Andres (I didn't think Juliana would do it. If she had it would've been for her benefit to get closer to Andres), I can't believe he's making Germán think that Andres doesn't care about him. If Andres had approached Germán and told him the truth first, Germán would've hated him, BUT Norbie is making Germán hate Andres anyway.
Except for last night, for the past few weeks, I have been writing summaries on the chance you weren't able to recap Gloria.
Now that you are back Vivi,(and so delighted that you are!)I am going to assume that the recaps are being covered. Therefore, I'm not going to continue to stay up each night writing a back up. I look forward to getting a bit more sleep!
However, if either of you are not able to recap, if you post something to that effect on that afternoon's comments, I would be happy to try and pull something together as I have these past few weeks, if it would be of any help.
It won't be the caliber of either of your summaries, but at least it will be something :)

Hot DAMN this was one astonishing episode. I’m with you Susanlynn – I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much happen in a novela in just one night.
This thing is positively Shakespearean. The story really has heft, and most of the baddies are complex, with some good in them along with the bad. Rubio is a particularly well-drawn and fascinating character.
And here we thought Este was a good man who was just suffering from lust. Well, his not saying anything about Ulysses being disappeared was tipping us off that something wasn’t quite right, and his recent nutsy outbursts were making us wonder about him, but still! A killer??!!!! THE killer???!!!!
I was shocked that Este kissed Acacia outside! In the daylight! Right in front of the hacienda! Right where every workman, or anybody coming and going, could easily see them!
Here are some more exclamation marks: !!!!!!!!!!!!
This episode calls for them.
Yes, Maggie. I thought that Estedamnednow was just a guy going through a major midlife crisis and trying to recapture a youth he never had with a sweet, supple, young and innocent girl. NO He killed her father !!! I could not think of that kiss as hot because all I could think of was "Acacia, you are kissing the dude who killed you DAD." Yikes ack gah
Start with Vivi---You've come back from your operation better than ever and that is saying something because you were always on top of the Caray blogger's mountain.
Vivi, you were fantastic. A shadow
passes over Al's tomb (unfortunately it's not the ghost of Al to come to tell these people to leave him the hell alone.)
Rubio the puppet master (thanks Vivi)is smarter than we gave him credit for. He's got Este's number and is manipulating him like a master puppeteer.
So Rubio says that only the strong deserve to survive. And some have said that this guy is not all that bad. QUE?
Can things get any more dysfunctional I ask?
Acacia and Luisa are no longer friends. I guess that I should have seen it coming because Manuel
was involved but I missed it. What's going to happen with those two now?
Poor Ale just can't get a brake. Is she the Malquerida?
Vivi---You sure got Acacia right with self centered and shellfish. Spoiled should be added also.
Pretty boy Manuel is on the dark side now. I can't wait to see what his anvil will look like.
Cris is one tough cookie. These boots are made for walking. She tells Este, "very well, then go."
Well he did go, right to Acacia.
I watched that hot kiss scene closely last night. It did seem to me that Esteban did make/start
the move but Acacia was waiting for it and more than willing to receive it. I loved Ulises, I'm starting to love Manuel? Well there just boys, Este is a MAN.
Oh Acacia, where are you going with this?
How many names can one guy have?
Susanlynn I think that most of these are yours.
Estebone
estebonkers
Estebad
Estebum
Estawful
Esteterrible
Estemonster
Estedeadtome
Where is all this big mess going?
Must see TV tonight.
the gringo
Just got back from the doctor's office. Everything is healing well, but I think I hurt myself a bit doing all that walking, stair climbing, and metro-ing to get there. I took a cab back!
Yes! I had been thinking of it as a Greek tragedy, but the characters are more complex than that, so Shakespearean seems more appropriate. It's hard to know where this is all going to end up-- well, except for in TEARS!
Gringo- Thanks amigo mio! I am sure the writers will find plenty more ways to make this story dysfunctional. :)
Hasn't Manuel heard of the term "half sibling (medio hermano)? Like I said before, I do think Germán will believe Andres and take his side and also I said I think Norbie has a better chance at redemption than Juliana so if that happens at least Germán will have two fathers.
So many of the good guys are wounded and in jeopardy. I suppose it will be Uly who rallies the troops if he is able to recover and drag himself home, Then, Arturo and German can help him figure out what and where the evil forces lie...Damnilo, Este-evil, Rubio, and Norb to a lesser extent. Hector and Andres and old JC need to join with the young bucks to fight the evil that is rapidly spreading. Instead of one major galan , we seem to have a team of young and older galans.
What does our Estebad have?
I would be happy to do a mini-cap for tonight and take Thursdays (I will be gone for a week right after Christmas though).
I'm a little anxious as there was so much dialog I missed the past few nights. However, as you assure me everyone will pitch in and help with what I missed, that will be great.
Diana
Did Damnilo hire Nuria ? If Carmen and Andres track her down in Miami, will she confess and tell who hired her ?
Well, that was a short reconciliation.
A shadow passes over Al's tomb (unfortunately, it's not the Ghost of Al come to tell these people to leave him the hell alone),
Juliana says she also has to think about herself (surprise, surprise)
Este watches Cris walk away (yes, her boots were made for walking),
I’m betting that that kiss was only in somebody’s imagination, probably Acacia’s. The girl is as annoying as hell, but I think she respects her mother enough not to kiss Este at their estate out in the open in broad daylight. Tonight is certainly must-see TV.
The writers seem to be rewriting history. I remember Norberto giving an order to cause Alonso to have an accident and then receiving a confirmation phone call that it had been done. Just coincidence that he and Este had the same plan?
At first I thought Este meant that while riding his horse he was the one that had inadvertently dislodged the boulder that creamed Alonso. I’m wondering if this is a major change from the original and earlier version. Maybe the TN writers didn’t think the audience could handle having an otherwise good guy toss his wife aside for her daughter, so they decided to make Este bad, really bad?
Poor Cris has been sleeping with the enemy all this time. I’m taking her off pregnancy watch cause having a little one with Este would be just too cruel.
I’m glad Luisa and Acacia broke up for now. Luisa needs to get out from Acacia’s shadow.
Uli, open your eyes. Medicine Girl (Itzel) and her grandma Medicine Woman got it going on. These are women of action, no time for whining or hissy fits. I’ll bet if you take Itzel to the beach, you’ll see she can be a Bikini Goddess too.

Hector..do not stay away..Cris needs you. You are the only one who sees Este's lust for Ack although Manuel seems to be getting suspicious. ....even though he is an egotistical, spoiled little boy ....and a dim bulb.
That was very clear last night
I know it was pride and independence that made Cris bristle at the ultimatum Esteban delivered but even her parents and later she questioned if running back to Hector (though to set his ass straight) the best move. Esteban & Acacia have orbited each other looking for justification and both found it last night. I think the timing of the disclosure, Esteban the person responsible for Alonso's death, the depth to which he would sink for an obsession, (flames fanned by Rubio) just added to my ah ha moment and the wreck happened in slow motion. I fear with that devil Rubio whispering in his ear, Cris in jeopardy.
Please keep Itzel safe and not hurt for helping Ulsis. Don't know though if Acacia should reunite with him. It takes two to tango.
While listening to the Esteban disclosure at first it sounded as though Esteban could have stopped Alonso's death but didn't. Leading me to think it wasn't on his order but stood passively and let it happen. Did I hear wrong?
I also hope that Itzel doesn't get hurt while trying to help Uli connect with Acacia. That girl is brave! I continue to be impressed with her and her grandma.
That the case, Cris better watch her back. Rubio is on him about who holds the cash and to think about Acacia fighting for it but could be easily handled with an unfortunate disappearance or accident.
While I thought other teasers were mere spoilers, this looked painfully and pitifully real. I will have to watch very closely tonight.
I'm with you gringo in pondering "Where is all this big mess going? I loved your list - Susanlynn has always come up with the most clever nicknames.
Of course, I think I was the lone person to say Uli was dead and we all know how right I was on that! Sigh.
Diana
Considering he's encouraging Este to get Acacia to take the lands from Cris, I don't think Cris is Rubio's endgame. I don't think his plan is as simplistic as marry the patrona to get power of the land. He seems to have a long, complex end game, that's more like a game of chess.
Thanks so much for you awesome recap of a shockineg epi.
I was totally taken back by Este's admission of killing Alonso. I was totally caught off guard. I, like some of you, thought that Este had some obsession problems, and was creepy at times, but I never thought he was a killer. I think that maybe Norberto knows about the murder, and that's why he doesn't want to get on Este's bad side. Because Norbe knows what Este's capable of.
I too found the kiss between Acacia and Este to be very passionate, but couldn't help thinking, "if you only knew that he killed your father!"
Thanks again Vivi! Hasta pronto.
p.s. Vivi, glad to see that you are well enough to write these action packed recaps again. Please take care of yourself!
"if you only knew that he killed your father!"
Perhaps that will be Acacia's cross to bear by the end, knowing that she betrayed her mother with the man who killed the beloved father she sees as a saint and a superhero.
