La Malquerida #68, 11/27/2014: Uli’s Getting Sent to the Big House
-Norberto disregards Manuel’s real concerns that he could end up in a horrible marriage like his parents if he marries Acacia, who does not love him. Norberto at first tries to convince him that it’s not the same since Acacia is genuinely disenchanted with Ulises, and would not be marrying Manuel for money like Juli did him. Then he threatens Manuel that if he throws away everything he’s done to get Uli out of the way, Manuel will regret it!
-Acacia regrets having testified against Uli out of jealousy/anger/spite, especially after hearing Hernan’s testimony. She whines and cries to Hector, her family, and Manuel. Rubio eavesdrops as she tells Manuel about how Hector is representing Uli and believes in his innocence. She asks Manuel not to let Cris know that Hector is representing Uli. (In the scene where Manuel and Hector meet for the first time in the jail, and get all prickly with each other, it’s funny to watch Arturo Peniche try hard not to crack up as he acts for the first time opposite his son, Brandon.)

"Acacia bursts in, and testifies AGAINST Uli! (Idiot!) The legal clerk has to remind her that they’re there to talk about fraud, not infidelity, when she goes off about her own little soap opera" was wry and wonderful and my favorite among many lines.
If we knew Este was an orphan, I did not remember. It explains why he feels at least some (unwanted) obligation to return. The saddest thing to me was that months ago (a year ago?), before his crazed infatuation with Acacia began, he would have been deliriously happy as he still truly loved Cris.
But Este is a murderer, lest we forget. This "reunion" cannot last, nor should it.
I used to think Rubio's plotting and machinations were somewhat interesting as he pretended to play the dolt. Now, his ploys simply sicken me.
And Acacia had to pour salt on the wound by inserting her crushed feelings on Uli's supposed infidelity into the serious hearing. What an utterly selfish girl.
Like you Vivi, I was delighted to see father and son together - both actors are great and I really like Brandon who is doing a good job with his less than impressive character.
And poor Ale. I don't think I ever saw her as devastated as she did seeing Lizi and German. It was maddening as she made no pretense that she was part of a loving couple. I can't blame German for not seeing but I am really wondering how much longer she will be able to endure this.
The Andres/Hector alliance was the one bright light last night.
Vivi, thank you for your generous time. I hope you had a wonderful day - you have certainly started my day off in splendid style.

I would be overcome with such shame and regret after hearing Hernan's testimony, I don't know how I could live with myself. But, I'm sure Acacia will somehow reconcile what she did. Blech.
Also, I was delighted that Luisa was there for the family and very, very happy German got on board.
I have renewed hope for Luisa.
Diana
Again, I do enjoy the serious nature of the plot but I yearn to see love which is so much at the heart of these TNs. And I'm sorry, as much as I like them individually, German and Lizi do not work for me. I want to yell "that should be Ale" every time I see them together.
There must be a happy ending for those who love blindly and passionately, who sacrifice everything for others, not themselves.
And that person is Ale.
Diana
I too loved the legal clerk cutting off Acacia's yammering about Uli's supposed unfaithfulness to her. How she can use the word "unfaithful" with ease is beyond me.
So proud of Luisa. She was nervous and afraid but spoke up for Uli anyway. Nice to see Carmen thank her.
Wondering if Esteban wanting to return is more about preventing Acacia from repenting over her breakup with Uli than it is his wanting to get close to the unborn baby. If he does return, Acacia should move out pronto.
ITA Hector was so funny silently assessing that little twit Manuel. I imagined Peniche Sr. thinking "Son, glad to see you finding regular work."
Susanlynn- ITA. Esteban is a turkey alright. Unfortunately, since no one knows just how depraved he is, he'll continue to be thought of as a good man.
What's getting me, among many things about Acacia, is that she now knows that her mother's husband is actively pursuing her. Yet, she still encourages her mother to get back together with him! She just tried to send her ex boyfriend to jail for supposedly cheating on her. Yet, she thinks it's ok for her mother to be with a man who's trying to cheat on her with her daughter?!
Hub didn't make it home but am hoping he will make it tonight or tomorrow.

Diana, you said you're really wanting to see LOVE in this novela. I agree, and I'm hoping we will in the end see Chris and Hector reuniting in mature and deep love. Ale is so damaged that I wonder if she could even sustain a relationship with German, even if all the secrets were out in the open. I want to see Uli find true love because he deserves it. So does Andres. Manuel is a mess and a poster boy for how damaging it is to grow up in an alcoholic family. The only person who sickens me more than Rubio, Norbeto, and Danilo is Julianita. Blech with a capital B.
Acacia is getting more dumb by the episode. She had no reason to be at the hearing. She really had nothing to contribute. At least Germán and Luisa testified in Uli's favor.
I was this close to changing the channel during the scene where Dan and Ale go to Lizzy's store. So cringeworthy. Dan seemed to enjoy the encounter. Poor Ale has to endure Dan shoving in her face that fact that Germán has moved on.
I totally didn't even think about the fact that father and son Peniche were acting in a scene together. I did find it humorous how Hector called Manuel "jovencito" or something like that.
I do think Ale is capable of being in loving relationship-- more so than some of our characters who have had a normal life, like Acacia.
I think Acacia will regret not believing in Ulises and I definitely don't think he will be so forgiving. Unfortunately she may lose him for good. Acacia was very selfish in making it all about her. She doesn't even have proof of infidelity either so she has no right to accuse Ulises of that.
Acacia wants Esteban, she just trying to make it his fault solely.
Esteban is returning to the house to keep Acacia away from Manuel, do a side deal for extra cash and close the deal with Acacia. Cris being pregnant is just a great reason to be in the house.
Vivi. Even Thanksgiving can't stop some of us La Malquerida fanatics.
LOL---The legal clerk had to remind Acacia that this case is about fraud not infidelity. I'm sure that princess Acacia thought
that it was all about her. Isn't this divorce court?
Vivi---I am NOT surprised at all about Acacia's testimony against Ulises. Acacia is a spoiled pampered princess. Not only that, she is a "spurned" woman or so she thinks. Lock him up! She's out to put the big hurt on Uli for dumping her for that brazen woman Nuria. Her actions are perfectly clear to me.
But---After the foreman's testimony---well what do you know,
Acacia's having second thoughts.
Vivi---You gave us an interesting take on Acacia. Uli cheated, was unfaithful to her, off to jail for you but Estebone cheating on Cris? Well you guys should kiss and make up. Que?
Diana---I agree. As nice as Lizi is, I just cant can't see her with German.
QUESTION?---Who does Nuria's hair and makeup while she is locked up?
She looked pretty nice at the hearing.
Susanlynn---Tacos for thanksgiving
sounds pretty good to me. Turkey is nice once or twice a year but tacos are wonderful every weak. They never get old.
I don't know how things will turn out but I can see Itzel being held in secret waiting to testify on Uli's behalf at the trial. Itzel will be the big bombshell surprise that will get Uli freed.
Where is the handwriting expert?
When the chips are down, Nuria will crack. What will Norbie do?
La Malquerida just keeps getting better and better.
I am waiting for a face to face of Luisa and Acacia. That could be good.
What is piss ant Manuel going to do next? Will he try one last time for Acacia? Stay away from Luisa you worthless piss ant!!!
Loved the McCormic scenes.
the gringo
Dona Gringuita,I would be happy, no make that delighted, if Hector and Cris end up together. It is important that German and Arturo be happy but imperative that Ale does too.
TF, Acacia tests the limits of selifishness daily. I hope Uli does not forgive her.
gringo, I laughed at your comment about Nuria. She does look great doesn't she, nary a hair out of place! :)
Diana
Gringo- LOL about Nuria's prison makeup. Maybe her deal with Norb included an in house makeup artist.
It was sweet that Uli was asking Andres to set up medical care for Itzel's village even though he was going on trial for some thing that he is innocent of, What a contrast to Ack. Unlike Ack, he does not just think about himself 24/7.
He is delusional if he thinks he will end up with Acacia, the child and the ranch unless he has already planned an "accident" to befall Cris.
Everyone discussing poor Itzel and it freaks me out thinking she may pray for her days locked up cultivating drugs. Jumped from the frying pan into the fire by helping Uli. I know she'll do it, sad.
I just cannot get my head around German reuniting with Ale once everything is disclosed. I know I should not consider her past because it was not her fault and she has martyred herself for him but as much a survivor as she is she's gonna need years of help to live any semblance of a normal life. More power to the girl.
