Los Miserables, Monday, Part 1

Everyone in the squad room, including Genaro, watches Daniel leave with Lily hanging on his arm. Leon doesn't like the looks of that "vieja." Genaro helpfully supplies her with a name: Liliana Duran, Lucha's sister.

Chelo, Lucha, Vicky, Roxana, Ignacio, Elena and Nacho celebrate Abel and Adriana's engagement, even though Ignacio and Vicky are obviously sad. He misses Fernanda and Vicky misses Octavio. At Lucha's urging, Ignacio finally calls Fernanda, but she is too proud to answer.

Just as Lucha is trying to persuade her father to go after Fernanda in person, Daniel walks in. Lucha's face lights up...until she sees who is glued to his arm -- Lily. They only stay a moment, just long enough for Lily to spew her venom and for Lucha and Daniel to exchange burning glances. Roxana gives Daniel a hug just before he leaves. All the Durans notice and want to know what gives. Is there something between Lucha and Daniel?

Octavio starts a brawl when he tries to drag a drunken Deborah out of a club. He ends up on the floor, bleeding. He is brought, apparently unconscious, to TOHIM (The Only Hospital in Mexico City).

"Sit down," Daniel orders Lily brusquely when they are shown to their table in the restaurant. Does she really expect him to behave like a gentleman when she acted like a witch? She was thumbing her nose at Lucha...and yes, he still cares about Lucha's feelings.

As the Duran family chatters about Abel and Adriana's plans, Lucha's thoughts stray to Daniel. Her sisters get her to admit she fell for Daniel like a teenager, but now, she says, she hates him.

Just when it looks like the Duran evening is coming to a pleasant end, Radamés shows up and casts his evil, lumpy shadow over the proceedings.

Daniel tells Lily he isn't playing her game. He just wants to know what she can tell him about Olegario and Radamés. Either they tricked her into setting him up or she works for them. The information she fed him led the cops to a decoy operation.

Before the conversation can go any further, Daniel gets the call about Octavio and hurries off to the hospital. Lily follows.

TODIM (The only doctor in Mexico) fills in Daniel on how Octavio was hurt and his present condition -- he is just badly bruised. Drunken Deborah, who, mercifully, has been sedated, is sprawled on a couch.

Meanwhile, Octavio calls Vicky on his cell. But when she answers, he is silent. She calls back. He refuses the call. She calls again and Daniel, who has just joined him, grabs the phone. He tells Vicky what has happened. She says she'll come to the hospital right away.

Octavio is desperate and hostile. Daniel tries to talk him down a little. He loves him like a son, he says, and Vicky loves him too. Octavio needs the people who care about him around him right now.

Now safely on his home turf, (though still outside the house) Radamés is getting ready to show Elena what a big man he is when Pablo just happens to stroll along. Radamés is enraged at the intrusion. "You're fired!" Elena runs up the stairs. Radamés shambles after her. She makes it to the safety of her little boy's room and locks the door behind her. Pablo is still lurking and watching. "Don't you dare touch her, fool," he mutters.

Lily refuses to leave the hospital, even though Daniel has made it clear he doesn't want her to stay. Then Vicky and Lucha arrive. "I told you he was in trouble," says Lucha. "He was defending his mother!" says Daniel. Lily insults Lucha. Daniel tells her to mind her own business, and then follows Vicky and Lucha to Octavio's bedside.

"Don't touch me!" says Octavio nastily when Vicky approaches him. Daniel forbids him to speak to a lady like that.

Los Miserables, Monday, Part 2

Lily gets home in a snit, slamming doors and raging against Lucha. Her mother wants to know what Lucha has done to make her so mad. Olegario, who has overheard the conversation, is also anxious to hear Lily's answer. Lily says that at dinner, her father only had eyes for the bastard Lucha. Olegario is surprised she's so upset -- he thought she wasn't all that fond of her father. Fernanda wants to know if the family asked about her. "Get it through your head," says her loving daughter. "They're not interested in you."

Olegario invites his "Diabla" to channel her rage in a more enjoyable direction, namely, the bedroom. In her heart, she lusts after Daniel. In Olegario's heart, he lusts after Lucha.

Even though Lucha is off the clock, she has access to injectable drugs, which she administers to Octavio. All he wants is to be left alone.

Daniel apologizes to Vicky for Octavio's behavior. Lucha tells her that sometimes pain makes people act crazy. Daniel thinks Dr. Carlos can help. Lucha agrees. She urges Vicky not to lose her faith in Octavio or in love. Lucha and Daniel exchange meaningful, bruised glances.

The following morning, Daniel calls Carlos and asks him to help Octavio. Carlos agrees. Daniel will pick him up and drive him to the hospital.

Octavio, meanwhile, isn't planning to stick around long enough to get shrunk. He dresses quickly and is about to slip out the door. He does catch an eyeful of his mother flirting with the gay doctor.

Radamés wants to get even with "Super Hero" Pablo. He asks Olegario to sent a couple of his goons around to teach Pablo a lesson.

Olegario won't tell Lily where he is going, though he seems to have taken a certain amount of trouble with his appearance this morning.

Octavio walks into an apartment building across the street from the hospital. He climbs the stairs. He is weak, and his head is filled with disturbing images of his mother and her men friends.

Carlos and Daniel arrive at the hospital. Daniel is surprised by the apparent friendship between Carlos and Lucha.

They find out that Octavio is missing. Deborah, naturally, raises a stink and looks for someone to blame.

Sor Amparo calls Lucha to her office. She has wonderful news. They have a donor who is going to make a substantial donation to the hospital! Olegario Marrero steps forward now. He is so happy to meet her. He kisses her hand. She narrows her eyes slightly. He has heard such good things about the work being done here by Lucha -- and by everyone, of course. His associate Liliana Duran has talked her up. It's time for him to share some of his wealth with the wretched and the poor -- in short, with 'los miserables.' Sor Amparo beams...but not for long.

She gets a call informing her that Octavio has disappeared. She and Lucha run out of the office, leaving Octavio without an audience for his well-rehearsed performance.

Lucha is worrying about lingering effects of the sedative she administered to Octavio the night before. As well she should be...

Octavio climbs to the roof of the apartment building and walks over to the edge. "I'm going to fly like Vicky." He gets on the ledge and stumbles along...

Lucha tells Carlos that Octavio is very depressed. They have to find him right away.

Los Miserables, Monday, Part 3

Radamés sics Olegario's two goons on Pablo. They knock him on the head and drag him off.

The frantic search continues inside and outside the hospital. Finally, the nurses spot Octavio tottering unsteadily on the ledge, poised to jump...or to fall. Lucha runs toward the building.

Olegario, left alone in the office and unaware of the drama unfolding around him, is enraged. No woman ever made him wait so long. They can forget about his money. Lucia Duran can go to the devil!

Lucha climbs the stairs and reaches Octavio on the roof. He warns her. "Don't come near me or I'll jump!"

Now Olegario is outside watching the rooftop with everyone else. He sees Lucha approach Octavio, her own steps seemingly as unsteady as the boy's. She glances down and then quickly looks away.

Will Lucha be able to save Octavio?

Señora Acero... Monday, epi 29

Elio turns down Indio's job offer, Indio got his money back, and Elio adds he wants him to leave Sara alone, and so Indio lets him go, but sends Tiburon after him, as he grabs an onion to munch on.

Sara on the other hand is now working for Quintanilla, soon to be running money across the border, (do I have to?)

Pepito is getting along pretty well with Arnulfo.

Miriam learns from Rufino that Juan will be out on bail and that he has been talking to Arnulfo, she's worried for Pepito and sees some money fall out of his backpack, Empanada steps in to calm things down, pockets the money.

Elio has a surprise for Sara, a new beauty shop, where Aracely, Miriam, Cornelia can work.

at the new shop Sara sits down with Miriam and asks for advice since I guess Miriam used to smuggle drugs.

and later Elio shows her a new place where they can live together, renting for now but an option to buy, and they talk about there no longer being any lies between them, they break in the bed, and later when Elio asks her about Quitanilla, Sara lies.

Elio visits Paty and explains as well as he can how things aren't working out with Vanesa... divorce... and how they will live with another lady and her son... so you do have another family, Paty asks, as Vanesa interrupts, and freaks, Paty runs off, and Tiburon sits outside with a sniper rifle.

Sara gets home and answers the door while her mom puts Salva to bed, it's Indio and the boys, and they have a few words, Sara accuses him of sending the bombers after her at the airport, and lets it out that she is now connected with the Jalisco cartel, if Indio is looking for trouble.

Thanks for the rundown, deb! I'm about to watch my recording now. I wish Sara had told Elio the truth.

Señora Acero
Just finished watching and I was just left with a bunch of questions:

Does Sara know she can't have children?

How many times will Patty have to say "mom's food tastes horrible and makes my tummy hurt" before someone does connects some dots. I know the maid prepared new food, but as loony as Vanesa acts, surely someone will get suspicious?

In fact, as loony as Vanesa acts, why hasn't someone done something?? I know, dad is a judge with power, but doesn't he care about his granddaughter?

Miriam, honey, Empanada stabbed someone, was close with Enriqueta and was wanted by the police. Why do you let him in your house?

I did think it was sweet that they named the salon after Lupita.

Thank you to NovelaMaven and Deb for your usual great
recaps. I wouldn't enjoy the novelas so much without y'all.

LOS MIS

Thanks so much, Anon Gringa. Thanks for letting us know you're out there and enjoying the recaps!

the Miserables,

terrific recap NovelaMaven!

ah yes, Olegario will make a donation to help 'the miserables', so he can get some nookie time with Lucha, now there's a guy with a heart, while Lily's already got her sites on Lucia's man, and her lifelong obsession, to one up her non-sister.

Pablo is always standing around like the old tv superman when he is suited up, hands on the hip, it was odd to see Diablo's bad guy just walk up behind him and knock him out.

Daniel and Lucia are doing a good job of a 'gran amor', that's never going to happen because I hate you so much that I will follow you to the ends of the earth just to let you know, kind of a story.

LOS MIZ
Dear NvMv, I've been out of the loop for months now, but am finally back home with Wi-Fi and my television set, so I expect to be able to chime in more frequently. I just wanted to thank you for all your wonderful writing. I've pretty much figured out enough plot to get me interested thanks to you. And I managed to pick up bits & pieces of the last couple months of Otra Piel on my phone.

It's funny, but I switched to Telemundo from Uni for El Señor, parte 1 and haven't looked back. The novelas are formulaic, to be sure, but not nearly as cloying, nor predictable as on Uni (TODIM & TOHIM notwithstanding).

¡Gracias de nuevo!

Los Miserables

deb, once again you delight me with your ability to capture the gist of the thing in a handful of words --

"Daniel and Lucia are doing a good job of a 'gran amor' that's never going to happen because I hate you so much that I will follow you to the ends of the earth just to let you know, kind of a story."

So perfect!

Agnes -- I'm so happy to see you back here.

I've been pretty hit and miss with Los Miz up to now. Maybe once Reina de Corazones is over -- and now that my own little telenovela seems to be settling down -- I'll spend more time talking about the 'miserables' of the DF. (Or maybe not. The steam is still coming out of my ears over what Telemundo has done to Reina.)

We should all be grateful to J desde NYC for committing to writing Friday recaps.

Truth in blogging: NOVELERA, JEAN AND KELLY get all the credit for recapping En Otra Piel.

Thanks, NovelaMaven.

fyi...I think Deborah, and possibly Ignacio, went to a more upscale hospital (not TOHIM).

Now that Deborah knows about the doctor's preferences, I'm guessing that at some point she'll catch on to Abel as well. By the way, does anyone know who Andrianna's father is? He's been mentioned more than once.

It's amazing how quickly the relationship between the 2 devils has fizzled. Oleg hanging around the hospital won't do much for Lucha's case later on, and it didn't say much for him. Not sure if it's the writers intention but he comes off as a creepy idiot.

Climbing on the ledge seems like an extreme way to save someone...but of course she will. Perhaps these 2 needed to bond before she's accused of murdering his father.

Señora Acero

sorry guys, but I think I'm going to bail on these recaps, my spanish just isn't good enough to follow along, especially with the narco stuff, I was sorting things out by going to the library and watching it online with english captions but I found out today that Telemundo no longer offers this, (a double blow because they are also chopping the heck out of Reina).

and then there is the story, I could care less about Elio's other family, or psycho Berta's slant on politics, and we haven't seen Sara go all wild woman in a while, I actually have been watching for the interesting minor characters, Junio and Mariana carried the whole show, but these guys all end up dead or in jail, right now the most interesting character for me is no-nonsense Miriam, love her accent.

oh well,

Sara- I think Sara being sterile is something Indio did on his own, Junio found out from the doctor, (then killed him) may have told Mariana, but they too are dead, so I don't think anyone else knows.

some other questions would be,

who does Indio work for?
what does he soak his onions in so his breath doesn't stink?
when will Tiburon smile?

Señora Acero
I'm sorry to hear you won't be recapping :(

Thanks for the info on Sara's sterility.

I will continue to watch as I am oddly fascinated by it.

I keep telling myself I'm going to give Los Miserables a whirl and I never seem to find the time.

Deb, thank you for sticking with it for as long as you did. I'm sure it was a hassle having to go to the library and trying to be prepared every day. I still like it and will continue to try to get as much of it as I can. I hope we'll still hear from you from time to time. Thanks again.

Anon Gringa

Thanks NovelaMaven for your recap!

Did Sor Amparo not find it weird that Oleg was going to donate money but wanted to meet the pretty nurse? Yeah it's interesting how the 2 devils' relationship has kind of fizzled out, I thought that Lily liked him more but I guess not. Although Oleg is not the one to root for he does make me laugh sometimes for some reason. Like yesterday when he was talking to himself in the mirror before his charity act, saying what a stud he was.

I'm glad that Daniel isn't completely buying Lily's story, and called her out over dinner. I so dislike seeing her helpless woman act around him...ugh, gag me please.

Also, I wonder what will happen to Pablo tonight. He looked so happy watering the flowers before they knocked him out...

Deb, liked how your described the Daniel/Lucha relationship too, very apropos

LOS MIZ

I apologize to all for not doing last friday's recap. I couldn't get to watch the tn b/c my usual sources of viewing were inaccesible...seems like Telemundo is hunting down uploaders on YT. However, b/c I have an older tablet in compatible with the TelemundoNow app, I can't watch online. I had visitors and couldn't use my pc, either. I should be much more prepared this week.

Also, Deb, I love your description of Lucha and Daniel's 'gran amor'-it's so perfect and kind of endearing in a way. I guess the writers are going for 'a thin line between love and hate' version of love instead of the usual cloyingly sweet tn version which kind of makes me laugh instead of moony-eyed-but that's the cynical New Yorker in me.

Novela Maven, thanks again for the yeoman's work you do on this tn--I so appreciate it.

LOS MIZ

J desde NYC
Good news! There WAS NO SHOW ON FRIDAY! Telemundo pre-empted all the evening novelas in honor of halloween. Seriously. So no need to apologize.

Good point about the hospitals. I had forgotten about the earlier places. It seems as if we are living in the Misericordia lately :D

jlk
I'm a little concerned about Pablo too. (I haven't had a chance to watch Tuesday's episdode yet.) I expected him to sense that someone was behind him, whirl around and do a SuperHero thing. I definitely wasn't expecting to see him knocked out like that!

LOS MIZ

deb I just realized you said that same thing I did about Pablo. Oh well. Great minds...

SEÑORA ACERO

Thanks for all the wonderful recaps you've already written, deb! As I've said before, they made me want to watch the show. (But when I tuned in, I was, unfortunately, just turned off. It was a little too gruesome for me.)

When I read how much trouble it took to write the things, I realize you were going well above and beyond what anyone expected. Thank you again!

Los Miz, Tuesday, Part 1

Octavio teeters on the edge of the apartment house roof. Lucha bravely joins him and tries to talk him out of jumping. He warns her not to come any closer.

El Diablo and Anselmo watch from below with some admiration for Lucha's daring. When they spot Daniel and Carlos in the crowd, they jump in their vehicle and speed away.

Lucha admits she's afraid of heights. All she wants to do is help Octavio, she tells him. She understands despair. She has felt the way he feels right now.

She crouches down and suddenly loses her footing. She slips over the edge. Octavio grabs her hands, trying with all his might to keep her from falling. Carlos and Daniel see what has happened. They race up what seem like endless flights of stairs.

Meanwhile Octavio manages to pull Lucha to safety. The two sit on the ledge together, side by side, their legs dangling over the void. He tells her not to meddle in his life. She refuses to leave him there. His father wouldn't have wanted him to do this. What does she know about his father? She says she only knew him a little, but he was a great man. That's why she's there with Octavio -- in César's memory.

Daniel and Carlos are on the roof. Carlos has to hold Daniel back. "Do you think I can stand by and watch my nephew and the woman I love kill themselves?" "The woman you love?" repeats Carlos.

While the fire trucks, police cars, and reporters gather below, Lucha and Octavio talk about conquering fears. He tells her how Vicky taught him bungee jumping and how liberating it felt. She urges him to have the courage to face his fears in life.

Rodriguez joins Daniel and Carlos and tells them the firemen have things under control. We see them setting out a huge trampoline-like pad below. An ambulance pulls up.

Octavio says he's no coward. It's just that his life isn't worth anything. What about Vicky? His despair is too great. He has nothing to offer her.

Deborah joins the crowd below and starts screaming. Octavio tells Lucha how much he hates his mother. She's a good reason to jump! Lucha tells him she used to think she hated Fernanda; now she feels sorry for her. TODIM approaches Deborah and leads her away.

In La Reina (the Duran family restaurant), Chelo calls Vicky to see the news report on the television. They stare in horror at the image of Lucha and Octavio on the ledge.

In the House that the Narco Built, Fernanda and Lily are staring at the same image. Olegario joins them and remarks that Lucha sure has 'ovarios.'

The nuns stand in the street and pray. In the vecindad, Deya quickly turns off the tv when Roxanita comes into the room. Chelo tries to do the same when her father enters the restaurant. But he knows she's trying to hide something from him and insists she turn the set back on. He sees the dreadful image.

"My mother blamed me for my father leaving her. And I blame myself for my father's death. Why don't we admit that I'm to blame for everything?" Octavio thinks Lucha doesn't know what it feels like to want to die. She corrects him. That's how she felt when she lost her baby and learned she could never have another; that's how she felt when she was in prison in another country. It's horrible to feel that you don't matter to anyone. Everyone sounds hollow to you. That's how Octavio feels, right? He admits that is so. It's like when he was blind -- only now he doesn't want to see again. Lucha tells him he matters to a lot of people -- to his poor mother, to Vicky, to his uncle Daniel, and to her too. But most of all, he matters to his father. If Octavio believes in God, then he must know that his father is with him asking him to go on living. "You believe in all that nonsense?" "It's not nonsense. And yes, I believe in God."

Los Miz, Tuesday, Part 2

Lucha tells Octavio not to be ashamed. She urges him to cry and let his feelings out. He hugs her and weeps. Lucha glances anxiously over the edge.

A van pulls into a parking ramp. Olegario's goons get out and dump Pablo on the ground. They tell him to get on his knees. Pablo goes into Super Hero mode, easily overpowering both of them. He leaves them alive, but battered. "Tell your boss to send professionals next time."

Now Daniel makes his approach. "Couldn't you two find a less dangerous place to chat?" He makes his own teetering path across the ledge. Now they are three.

Nearly the whole cast has gathered in the street below to pray and gawk.

Except:
--Radamés, who gets the news in a phone call from Elena.
--Lily, Fernanda and Olegario, who continue to watch the developing story on tv.

Lily fumes at the idea of Lucha being portrayed as a heroine (why didn't she fall?) and Olegario seethes at Daniel playing the hero. Olegario asks Fernanda why Lily hates her sister so much. Fernanda says Lucha isn't a real sister -- she's a bastard. Olegario is intrigued.

Daniel wants them to continue their conversation on the ground. But now Lucha becomes panicky. She can't climb down. She's afraid!

Radamés is unpleasantly surprised to find Pablo trimming the rosebushes in his garden. Pablo tells him the next time Radamés wants a piece of him, he needs to do the job himself. Radamés repeats that Pablo is fired. But Pablo isn't going anywhere.

Daniel holds Lucha and tells her to be calm. The fireman have placed the padding below. It is perfectly safe to jump. Octavio goes first. He is safe. Daniel gives Lucha a little push. She lands safely. Then Daniel jumps. He makes it unscathed. He walks up to Lucha and asks her if she enjoyed the fall. She slaps him hard. "You almost scared me to death, fool," she says and stalks away. Daniel smiles slyly even as he strokes his jaw where she has hit him.

Elena moves into the guest room of her house. Pablo tells her what her husband did to him. He warns her that he is very dangerous and urges her to move out of the house. How could she stay married to a man like that for so long? She's not sure: Fear? Habit? Not wanting to leave her son without a father. Does she want to wait until he beats her to death and leaves her son without a mother? She needs to get out before Radamés realizes she's no longer the scared little girl he married. They can't change the past, but they can change the present and the future.

Octavio is back in his bed in TOHIM. He promises Vicky he won't jump without her. She promises she won't leave him, but makes him swear not to abuse her. She had enough growing up with an abusive father. Dr. Carlos and Sor Amparo arrive just in time to see the couple kissing. They make a strategic retreat.

Los Miz, Tuesday, Part 3

TODIM reports to Abel, Adriana, Carlos and Sor Amparo that Deborah is snoring away. No one knows where Lucha is. Abel looks away from TODIM's glance and decides it is time to leave.

Lucha is in the chapel. Sor Milagros is there thanking God for the safe outcome. She tells Lucha she should do the same. Lucha admits to herself -- and to God -- that Sor Milagros is right.

Daniel thanks the fire chief for his excellent work.

Dr. Carlos joins Daniel. Daniel doesn't understand why Lucha would save his nephew's life after Daniel has treated her so badly. "She's a good woman." "If she were a good woman," saws the Man with Tunnel Vision, "she wouldn't be a criminal." "And if she isn't one?" Carlos reminds Daniel that the world isn't black and white.

Radamés shows up and wants to know about Deborah. Daniel tells him she's sedated, but is fine. Radamés wants to take Octavio out of this crappy hospital (he hasn't gotten the memo that it's TOHIM). He doesn't need any "Misericordia" and his grandson doesn't need Carlos's services -- he doesn't need a "loquero."

Sor Amparo joins Lucha in the chapel. Amparo tells her about a bet she made with God. She bet Him that Lucha was an atheist, but a good person with a code of ethics and moral principles. But God bet that in her heart, Lucha was a believer. "She just feels a lot of resentment towards me." Amparo bet her first communion rosary. Since she lost the bet, Lucha gets the rosary. Lucha doesn't want to accept it. Amparo insists. A bet is a bet. Let Lucha keep it as a reminder of the first day she got back her faith in God.

Radamés storms up to Octavio's bedside, blasts him for his shameful behavior and orders him to get dressed. He is going to put him in a private clinic. Octavio refuses. He also announces that from now on, he's going to live with his Uncle Daniel.

Sor Amparo and Lucha talk about the nature of faith. "God doesn't like straight lines or easy paths," says Amparo, "especially for someone he is fond of." One day she'll understand. Maybe she had to go to jail to meet Roxanita's mother because Roxanita is the child she was meant to have. Maybe she came to Misericordia to meet Amparo and to find love with her nephew Daniel.

Amparo is certain that Lucha and Daniel will get beyond their impasse. God is betting on it. She proposes a bet that Lucía can make with God: If Lucía wins and Daniel isn't for her, God will provide her with an even more beautiful happy ending; but if God wins, Lucía will have to take her bridal bouquet to the Basilica and leave it at the feet of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Elena and Nacho show up at La Reina with their suitcases. Elena tells Chelo, Abel and Adriana that she is getting a divorce.

Olegario's goon reports back that the gardener fought like something out of an American action movie. "Then I should hire him and fire you!" Grrrrr.

Los Miz, Tuesday, Part 4

Dr. Carlos assures Daniel that Octavio is going to be fine. Everything that happened today was cathartic for him.

Deya is thrilled by Lucha's surprise -- she is going to work for Dr. Carlos!

Daniel goes home alone and wishes that César were still alive.

Carlos explains that Daniel isn't the angry, aggressive person (sangrón) he pretends to be. That's just a mask he wears to protect himself. In reality, he's a great guy (un tipazo).

Suddenly Lucha jumps up and says she has to buy some aspirin. She has a headache. As soon as she is out the door, Deya looks at Carlos shrewdly. "You have a thing for her, don't you?" (Le gusta, ¿verdad?)

Daniel looks at a photo of himself with César and cries. His doorbell rings. It's Lucha! He takes her in his arms. "I thought you were going to die and my nephew was going to kill himself and I would go completely mad. I can't lose you like I lost my brother César. I can't lose you."

Can this happiness last?

Thanks, NM. No, their happiness will not last. Lucha needs to tell Daniel immediately about what she knows about Cesar's death. She knows how he is when he's 'lied to' about her past.

I'm glad Deya saw for herself that carlos is smitten with Lucha and not think she's doing something to call his attention. Hopefully the Deya/Carlos storyline will end with Carlos realizing he loves Deya and is just infatuated with Lucha.

Los Mis:

NovelaMaven, thanks doesn't seem enough for all the recaps you put up, but THANK YOU all the same!

I thought the scene between Lucha & Octavio was done nicely. The kid who plays Octavio does his role well, and hopefully he'll be on the mend now.

I've come to really like Elena and her calm and quiet style. Sooo happy she's out of her house, but doubt that Radames will let her go easily. I'm glad that Pablo stood up for Elena, but how is he going to be able to continue his undercover work? Even if he is able to continue working there, no way is he going to be able to act like an invisible humble employee now. Maybe Oleg will seriously take him on as a thug in his drug gang...

That slap that Lucha gave was fun to watch, and not the "falling into his arms" scene that Daniel probably expected. & Yep definitely looks like Carlos likes Lucha....poor Deya, yeah JdesdeNYC, thankfully she spotted it quick (unlike me) and will be aware of that whatever may come.

So I guess we're to expect a scene where Lucha gives her bouquet to La Virgin Mary sometime in the future...

It must take you forever to finish these beautifully written
recaps. Do you do any professional writing? THANK
YOU!

LOS MIZ
NvMv: Thanks for all the fine detail. You fill in so much of what I miss. Still struggling to catch up with the identities of all the characters, but it does seem as if Gabriel Porras (Oleg, El Diablo?) is playing an almost comic role. It's hard to see him as a total bad guy with all that smirky slapstick.

And "Dr. Carlos assures Daniel that Octavio is going to be fine. Everything that happened today was cathartic for him." Yikes! the kid just tried to commit suicide in a dramatic & violent way. This is catharsis? I should think they would put him on 24-hour watch at the very least.

I guess they all did the big pillow jump because Lucha was too scared to go back the way she came up. It seemed so improbable because all they had to do was step down off the parapet onto the roof and take the stairs.

Glad that Octavio stood up to Radames, but pocilga or not, I think the kid ought to stay in lock-up for observation for a few days.
—Agnes in NJ

Los Mis

Thanks so much for the kind words, guys.

J desde NYC, I agree that it's hard to watch Lucha miss opportunity after opportunity to come clean with Daniel. When the reveal comes, it's going to be in the worst possible way (of course).

jlk

"So I guess we're to expect a scene where Lucha gives her bouquet to La Virgin Mary sometime in the future..."

I'm counting on it!

AnonGringa, I'm very flattered, but this is strictly amateur hour:)

Agnes,

Olegario (El Diablo) Marrero is both a clown and a heartless sadistic killer. In short, he is a type frequently found in narconovelas.

And yes -- why did they have to jump? Why couldn't they all just get back onto the roof? It made little sense but made for lots of drama.

And Dr. Carlos is a little bit of a cowboy, isn't he? Well, all novela medicine requires a great leap of faith. :)

Los Miz, Wednesday, Part 1

We pick up where we left off last night with Lucía in Daniel's arms.

Meanwhile Carlos has gotten tired of waiting for Lucía to return. He says goodnight to Deya. After he leaves, Deya sighs. He's so good-looking, but it's Lucha that he's attracted to, not her.

Lucha tells Daniel that big boys DO cry, and it will do him good to let his feelings out. He asks her forgiveness for not trusting her. He loves her. She loves him too. The music swells...

Radamés returns home and discovers that Elena has moved out with little Nacho.

Elena admits to her sister Chelo (Consuelo) and Chelo's daughter Vicky that Radamés beat her. Radamés calls Elena's phone and then the Duran house phone repeatedly, but no one answers. When Pablo calls, Elena answers at once. He is right outside and asks her to join him. She convinces him that it wouldn't be smart. Radamés is likely to come by at any moment.

Lucha calls Deya to say she is with Daniel. Deya happily agrees to take care of Roxanita.

Has Daniel really gotten over Lucha's prison record? He supposes so. She did something so marvelous, so crazy today...

Lucha helps Daniel pack up some of César's things. Octavio wants to live with him, he says. Since his nephew is almost 18, he won't have to get his mother's permission. Daniel wants to be a father figure for Octavio just as César was for him when he was orphaned.

Daniel picks up a bottle of cologne and reflects that César had started using it just before he died. He was crazy about a woman. Daniel would give anything to know who she was. She was with him at the beach house when he died and she almost certainly was involved in his death. Lucha drops the jacket she is folding, not noticing that a phone falls out of the pocket and on to the floor. "Maybe the woman has nothing to do with it," she says. "If she's innocent, then why is she hiding? Why doesn't she come forward and identify herself?" Daniel vows to find her. Lucha swallows hard and keeps folding.

The whore Nuria and her pimp Roque have taken over Gastón Gordillo's household (although Gastón believes Roque is Nuria's mentally challenged brother).

Radamés rattles the gate to the Duran house and demands the return of his wife and son. We see Pablo in the shadows, keeping an eye on Radamés. Ignacio comes out brandishing his rifle and chases Radamés away. Elena blows a kiss to Pablo from the upstairs balcony.

Los Miz, Wednesday, Part 2

Sor Amparo is awakened by an oppressive feeling in her chest. She tells Sor Milagros that God has spoken to her. He has told her it's time for her to return to Him. She feels she doesn't have much time left. Milagros has to be ready to go on without her. But Milagros doesn't want to hear it. Does Amparo think she's some kind of iluminada to whom God speaks directly? She just a crazy nun who should take better care of her health!

Lucha agrees to stay the night with Daniel. They are just getting romantic when the doorbell rings. It's Pablo. He needs to tell Daniel something right now. Daniel fibs to Lucha that one of the neighbors has a power problem and goes out to hear what Pablo has to say. Pablo says he has bad news: 1. Radamés fired him; 2. He's in love with Elena. Daniel is disappointed. They're going to have to rethink their operation since they have no one inside Marrero's organization (their informant was killed) and now there will be no one in Radamés Echevarría's house.

Daniel gets back to business with Lucha. She knows the bit about the neighbor was a white lie, but she forgives him.

Adriana tries to get romantic with Abel. He says he is too tired tonight. He leaves abruptly. Is she starting to suspect a problem?

Two of Olegario's henchmen are waiting for Pablo when he gets back to the house. They know Pablo is ex-military. Why is he working as a gardener? Why did he leave the U.S.? The big boss (El Diablo, Olegario Marrero) wants to meet him tomorrow.

The dark pink sheets cast a rosy glow on Daniel and Lucha in the morning light. He'd like to wake up next to her every morning. Why don't they get married? She tells him they have to take things one day at a time.

It is Deyanira's first day as Dr. Carlos Gallardo's assistant. She is determined to start over as a decent woman. "What does 'decent' mean?" asks Roxanita innocently.

Lily wants to know where Olegario is going this morning. She notices his new cologne. He throws her a bunch of phony compliments but won't answer her question.

Pablo tells Daniel he's back in the game: he thinks he's going to be hired as one of Olegario's bodyguards. He knows it could be a trap, but it's a risk he has to take.

Los Miz, Wednesday, Part 3

Speak of the devil...
Olegario himself shows up at the nurses' station and offers Lucha a rose. She can't accept it. He wants to make a donation to the hospital. She tells him he can do that online. Why is he really here? To meet her. He wants to be her friend. She calls him out. All that stuff about her sister speaking highly of her is just "un cuento chino" (a bunch of bull). Ok, he'll put his cards on the table. When he saw her at César's burial, he thought she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever laid eyes on. Later, Lily and Radamés badmouthed her (hablaron pestes de ti), but he knew she was a good person. How about coming with him for coffee so they can chat?

Saved by a Miracle...
Sor Milagros needs Lucha to come with her right away. Oh well, Lucha tells Olegario. Duty calls. Olegario gnashes his teeth.

Sor Milagros asks Lucha to talk Amparo into getting a medical check-up. She has convinced herself that she's dying. Lucha promises to do what she can.

Pablo is introduced to Olegario. "Call me El Diablo," he says. He's heard that Pablo is a Rambo type. He wants to see him in action. Pablo climbs in their red SUV and they head off to their killing ground, the bodega.

TODIM and Lucha have somehow persuaded Amparo to hop up on an exam table and submit to a check-up.

Olegario is a self-professed fan of Roman circuses. He invites his goons to have a go at Pablo. They can attack him with anything except bullets.

Dr. Carlos reproaches Deya for listening in on his session with Octavio. Then he realizes he left his intercom on. Oops.

Olegario and Anselmo laugh as Pablo, vastly outnumbered, gets a punishing beating. But then Pablo comes back and takes his antagonists down one by one. Olegario is impressed. Pablo is his new gladiator!

Fernando calls Abel to nag him. (If she didn't call him, he wouldn't remember he even had a mother!) He tells her about Elena and Nacho moving back home. But the conversation is interrupted when a dark-haired shrew in black leather bursts into the house and asks what Fernanda is doing there. "All of this is mine and I'm here looking for my husband, El Diablo Marrero," says the shrew.

So far, Sor Amparo has passed her physical with flying colors. (She still needs a female exam and they will have to wait for the results of her blood tests.)

Amparo notices that Lucha is looking very happy. Lucha admits she and Daniel are back together. Amparo is delighted. She is convinced they are meant for one another.

Olegario and Anselmo walk in on a shouting match between "Mrs. Diablo" and Fernanda. Olegario wants to know what his Monterrey Diabla is doing in Mexico City. He already has a Chilanga Diabla. Well the Monterrey Diabla has news for him: she's got a diablito on the way!

Lucía brings lunch and kisses to Daniel in the office. Lily walks in on them mid-smooch. ¡Daniel! ¿Qué significa esto? (What is the meaning of this?)

(I don't think Lily will like the answer to her question.)

Los Miserables

Thanks, NovelaMaven, for your excellent recaps this week. As some commenters have mentioned, it appears that Lucha is only digging herself in deeper. This thin line between love and hate will certainly turn to hate when he learns of her connection to his brother and his murder. (Plus he's misinterpreting evidence and assuming that Cesar was in a relationship). The writers have even gone so far as to have him propose marriage which is inappropriate considering the circumstances. Of course that means his heart will be broken soon enough.

I'm hoping that Sor Amparo lives long enough to impart valuable wisdon on Lucha's behalf when all the evidence is stacked against her. Of course Milagros is slowly becoming an ally as well.

Just wondering how long Fernanda will live under Oleg's roof with all the drama. Besides he's never going to apologize for his lifestyle.

Los Miz

My pleasure, Spanish Student.

When the phone fell out of César's pocket, I just winced. How long before Daniel finds it and discovers the pictures of César stealing a kiss for Lucha?

Yes, if Amparo is right and she is being called to heaven, life on earth will be that much more complicated, especially for Lucía.

I AM looking forward to the face-off between the two Diablas. :D

Thanks for the recap NovelaMaven! Love your play on "Speak of the Devil" & "Saved by a Miracle"

Yeah, looking forward to when the two diablas meet! Can't believe he gave them both the same nickname LOL, bet Lily will be surprised she has a Monterrey counterpart.

Like ya'll just waiting for the axe to fall when Daniel finds out about Lucha's secret. The more it's put off, the more I'm dreading it because I can only assume that it's not going to be pretty.

Señora Acero

Did everyone give up? Lately, I haven't been able to keep my eyes open that late & haven't had time to watch the next day. If anyone is interested, I'll try & put sth resembling a recap up.

Los Mis
The thing on the bldg was probably the dumbest thing we have seen in a long time. And Lucha not coming clean with Daniel is so stupid. There is also a murderer loose, one on Daniel's force putting him in danger. Oh well, we have to keep the so called suspense going. Still, Telemundo is better than Univision tripe. I can't say I'm not enjoying these 2 TN's.

Tks to the recappers, I know I don't say it enough.

Señora Acero
I got all caught up online and I'm watching. I record the midnight showing and watch the next day. Since I have CCs, I don't know that I would absolutely need a recap, but I hope there are still some folks who would still want to discuss the show.

I still love Senora and would definitely appreciate a recap since I do not speak Spanish. Thank you.

NovelaMaven, I enjoyed Wednesday's recap. Thank you

if I got this right, Vanesa is being treated for bi-polar and was prescribed Lithium,

"Lithium affects the flow of sodium through nerve and muscle cells in the body. Sodium affects excitation or mania.

Lithium is used to treat the manic episodes of manic depression. Manic symptoms include hyperactivity, rushed speech, poor judgment, reduced need for sleep, aggression, and anger. It also helps to prevent or lessen the intensity of manic episodes."

http://www.drugs.com/lithium.html

but Vanesa was giving it to Angel, who later died of an overdose, (the judge made that all go away) and (trace amounts were found in Patricia's blood test).

and after hearing all of this Elio accused the judge of being an accomplice, and I think he said, you go live with your daughter, and I'll go live with mine, and I never want to see either of you again.

Senora Acero Thursday (In no particular order and scant on details)
Juez Creel has tells Vanesa that he told Elio the truth about Angel. The first time he covered for her it was to protect his daughter. A second time would make him an accomplice. She swears she always took care of her children, even giving them her meds if they were upset or sad. There is now a restraining order against her. She can't get anywhere near Elio or Patricia. This does not stop Vanessa from taking Elmer's gun and escaping the house. She goes to Patty's school and stalks the child and sees Elio picking her up.

Sara returns to Guadalajara. Elio tells her the truth about how Angel died. Sara tells Elio the truth about why she was gone. Elio thinks working with Quintanillo might be a pretty good idea. He left the PGR under ugly circumstances and no one else will likely give him a job. Sara is hesitant. They decide to take a nookie break. Sara feels bad about Angel. She and Elio decide to make their own baby.

Empanada acts like he's helping Miriam find her child. Later he and Juan fight. Empanada gives Juan half of the money from Arnulfo to prove he's not betraying Juan. Juan tells him they can earn money by killing Sara.

In a huge coincidence, Lupita's boyfriend (is he "ex" since she's dead?) sees Pepito and Arnulfo in LA. He recognizes the kid (wow what a small world.)

El Indio Amaro meets with Felipe and tells him Sara is in league with the Cartel de Jalisco. If anything happens to Sara, all hell will break loose.

Carlota tells Sara about being sterile. Sara remembers Indio was there (at her surgery after she lost the baby.)

Empanada calls Indio Amaro and tells him there's a hit out for Sara.

Sara calls Quintanillo. She accepts his money and his job offer, but Elio is part of the deal. Quintanillo agrees, but says Elio is all Sara's responsibility. Sara also asks him to kill el Indio Amaro. Quintanillo explains that all hell will break loose. Sara doesn't care. It's time for war and vengeance.

Deb and Sara
Wow!! Muchisimo gracias to you both for explaining some
key elements of the novelas to me. Y'all are TOO NICE.
Seeing your recaps was such a welcome surprise since
I thought I had to wing it from now on.
I think that Blanca Soto is continuing to improve in her role as Sara, although she's still overdoing the facial
expressions a bit at times. I find her character quite
engaging.

AnonGringa

Señora Acero

AnonGringa-My pleasure. I find this show incredibly addictive and entertaining despite how violent and gruesome it can be.

deb-I hope I was not rude putting up a quick rundown. I can't really do it very often, but I'm willing to try when I can.

Senora Acero
OH! I did forget one thing:

The character played by Litzy (what is her name?) caught up with Plutarco (is that his name?) and they went out for a drink. Apparently their addictive tendencies don't include alcohol. He cuts the date short and turns down Litzy's to continue the date at his house. He wants to take it slow.

Senora Acero

Thanks Deb and Sara for your recaps.

I find it interesting that Sara assumes she has the power to order Indio's assassination. She's really just an employee of Quintanilla, not his PARTNER. Either way, there are so many people connected to both of them (and at least one boss whose face we haven't seen), which means a gang war would affect everyone we know. Sara shouldn't have that much power.

Vanessa has more than a bipolar disorder...she appears to be schizophrenic. Her "judge" father should have known better than to both enable her by not admitting the crime AND not tell anyone, specifically Elio, what she'd done. Plus, instead of treating her at home he should have had her committed.

I couldn't help but wonder if Plutarco has a wife or girlfriend at home.

spanish student

Señora Acero

I had the same thought regarding Vanesa since she did mention hearing voices.

Plutarco did seem a little sketchy, but I remember that he and Litzy were with Sara at the diner in the opening scene of episode one.

Lol! I hadn't even considered how ballsy it was for Sara take that request.

Señora Acero

thanks so much for the recap Sara!
I'm always happy to see any and all comments.

Empanada sure is an interesting character, he is everyone's friend, and almost seems like a good guy, but in the end he always goes for the money, and is he always sneaking lustful peeks at Miriam.

Quintanilla really gave Sara a whirlwind tour with his "test", but what really cracks me up is when they are done with her they just tell her to get out of the car and leave her where ever.

so she ended up with the money she was taking across the border, Tuercas just gave it to her?

bad timing for Juan, to be let out of prison on the day they decide to take Pepito, not only doesn't he like another guy in HIS home and messing with HIS family, but he is out on bail for trying to kidnap Pepito in the first place and will surely get the blame.

Plutarco seemed a bit strange last night, I didn't see the same sparks flying.

So Arnulfo's deal with Quintanilla is if he can take over a problem section L.A., that will be his exclusive territory, and there was some mention of using kids to sell the drugs as being successful.

Berta is also sterile from Junio's bullet, and is now giving a press interview about Sara's alleged criminal past.

onion anyone?

Señora Acero
How could I forget Berta's mini interview. I can't stand her. I must have blocked it out. I wasn't in on early episodes so I'm sure it's been discussed, but wow she hates her sister. Serious jealousy issues.

Señora Acero

someone should handcuff Berta and Vanesa together.

Deb, I had the same thought about Empanada ALMOST
seeming like a good guy. I'm always hoping for the good
side of characters to prevail.

Anongringa

Senora Acero

Just realized that Berta is the Lilly of Los Miserables...pathetically jeolous of her sister and wants to see her suffer.

I also agree with Deb about Empanada. I thought he was going to do the right thing but no. Now his arch enemy (Lupita's ex) will have the chance to save the day.

BTW, i laughted out loud watching the cop drool over Miriam. She's awfully popular right now.

Los Mis

Elena decided to talk to a lawyer about divorcing, too bad he back-stabbed her & told her husband. I couldn't help but applaud with how quick she moved when Radames tried to pick up Nacho after school to separate her from her son. She also told Pablo that she thinks she should keep away from him until the divorce & he asked if she really knows who her husband is.

I wonder if Lily will continue with Oleg now that he told her he's King & can have whoever he wants at HIS house, including his baby mama. Later he was lamenting that he doesn't want screaming diablas but a saint that he can put on a pedestal, someone like Lucha.

Deya continues with her fib and tells Carlos that she use to be a "gardener". I'm curious to see how he'll react when he finds out the truth.

I could not believe that Nuria's boyfriend saw the USB drive in the stuffed animal & took it! (when he visited Deya after getting tired of playing Nuria's "brother")

Octavio moves out & tells his mom that he needs to be with his Uncle for awhile. Smart kid.

Lucha tries to set it straight to Daniel that Lily was the one who planted drugs in her high school locker & had something going on with her BF Pedro. Lily says Lucha will ruin his life, Daniel says take a hike. After clapping for their smooch show, Daniel introduces Lucha as his girlfriend to his coworkers. Lucha looks at Genero like she might know him from somewhere. Later Lucha, Daniel, & Roxanne visit Ignacio(who was on his way to reconcile with Fernanda), and Ignacio tells Daniel to explain what he has going on with his daughters, Lily & Lucha.

Los miserables

Thanks, jlk. Lucha once said that although she didnt see his face, she would never forget the voice of cesar's killer. She also knows that he's a cop. I think after genaro introduced himself she briefly considered that he is the killer but there was not much time to focus on it.

No captions on telemundo, WTF?. so no way I can recap.Just know Juan put a bomb under Elio's car. Vanesa was stalking, took off with Patricia & the car blew up. Vanesa, good riddance, but Patricia???????

Señora Acero
I was floored. Man. They killed a CHILD.

Thank you for trying anyway, Variopinta. I can't believe
they killed that precious little girl, and I don't understand
why they brought them into the story at all if they were
going to kill them so soon. Maybe I'm missing something.

LOS MISERABLES-CAP 28 PARTE 1- VISITA INESPERADA (UNEXPECTED VISIT)-VIERNES NOV 7, 2014

Don Ignacio says “Hold up, wait a minute” to the Lucha/Danny “we go together” announcement. “Weren’t you just with my other daughter Liliana? What kind of boyfriend are you?” Sayeth Danny: Lily is just a friend but Lucha is my girlfriend. Ignacio accepts this answer and tells Danny not to hurt his little girl.

The conversation turns to where Ignacio is going to since won’t say where he’s going—to see Fernanda—and he jokingly tells his daughters and granddaughters to mind their own beeswax.

Future policeman, now streetchild Memin tells ne’er-do-well Roque to get his grimy hands off Roxana’s teddy bear (peluche) since it’s not his. The flash drive (la memoria) is sticking out at the neck but Memin is more concerned about Roque taking Roxana’s stuff. Roque pushes Memin away and keeps the teddy bear. Memin should have kicked him in the shin, imho.

Elena arrives home, sola, notes the man Radames has sent to overtly watch her. Nearby behind a tree, we see Pablo is also watching out for Elena. Nacho goes to Fernanda’s with suitcase in hand and tells her she looks beautiful and regrets not telling her that in a long time and how much he loves her. They do make a cute couple. If Fernanda weren’t such a grimy, trifling hater to Lucha, and had she not facilitated Elena entering a marriage to a woman beater, I would have rejoiced at them making up.

Lucha and Danny are at Elena’s telling her they’re a couple. She congratulates them and they congratulate her for leaving Radames. Elena confesses in her calm way that Radames beat her and she didn’t say anything because she was scared and she is still scared of him. Danny says Elena is right to be scared since he’s a dangerous man. “You’re not the first person to say that,” she says without naming Pablo. Danny confesses that Radames is dangerous because he’s the business partner and front (prestanombre) for the money laundering activities of the drug lord Olegario Marrero. Elena, and of course, Lucha, are impactadas.

Elena is shocked that she’s been married so long to a criminal and did not realize it. All her comforts she says shockingly—her cars, house, her son’s prep school—has been paid for with dirty money. Danny says that Radames is very careful—he hasn’t been able to get any solid evidence of the Radames/Marrero involvement, not even tax evasion. Cesar was killed because he found concrete evidence of Radames' and Oleg's illegal activities. Still, Danny affirms Radames, Oleg (El Diablo) and all their business partners (socios) will fall, even the blonde woman that was used as bait (señuelo) to kill Cesar.

LOS MISERABLES-CAP 28 PARTE 2- VISITA INESPERADA (UNEXPECTED VISIT)-VIERNES NOV 7, 2014

At the strip club, Anselmo and Oleg discuss the stable of women the latter seems to be building. Oleg sings Lucha’s praises. She’s pure-in-heart, strong, loyal and doesn’t love money. I’d bring her breakfast in bed everyday if she’d let me, he says. But what about Yesenia Maria—his hometown diabla—who’s carrying his baby?, Anselmo asks. “You’re just going to stick her back (retaconar) in the pueblo?” Oleg says that’s not a bad idea. He’s going to make sure all his diablas get their allowances and his son by Yesenia Maria will be properly educated so he won’t be dumb (bruto) but all his diablas are small-time chapels, side-pieces; he wants his cathedral, Lucha, where he can put his saint and worship and adore all the time. He wants Lucha as his official wife and mother of his children, he says dreamily. The whole scene, in a strip club no less, explains the whole Madonna/whore dichotomy in Western culture in less than three minutes!

Vicky and Octavio show up at Elena’s and Octavio congratulates Lucha in catching the uncatchable Daniel Ponce. He also notes that he’s definitely moving in with Uncle Danny to which Danny notes Octavio will die of hunger since he’s a bad cook.

Ignacio takes Fernanda to a fancy restaurant to make up with her. When Consuelo calls asking why he isn’t home to take his medication, he playfully says that Fernanda’s children are bothersome and this opens up the whole “You cheated on me, never loved me or my kids like you did Isabela (Lucha’s mother) and Lucha” can-of-worms. (Could I just say, even though Nacho was wrong to cheat on Fernanda, if Fernanda knew she would never get over the traicion, she should have just divorced Nacho and moved on—the unforgiveness is just played out. Let go and let God, woman!) Nacho says “not again with the same old bitterness,” and says yes, I loved Isabel passionately but she’s my past, you’re my present and if you’ll let me, your future. I’m old, defeated and full of mistakes, but we can still make a good life together of what’s left if we forgive each other and move on, Ignacio points out.

Back at the strip club Anselmo tells Oleg that he knows nothing about Lucha. “Suppose she’s married or has a boyfriend?" Sayeth Oleg el Diablo: “If she’s married, we’ll make her a widow; if she has a man the same because we’re born to die; all is fair in love and war.”

LOS MISERABLES-CAP 28 PARTE 3- VISITA INESPERADA (UNEXPECTED VISIT)-VIERNES NOV 7, 2014

Genaro and Lily meet in a low-rent anthro to give the latter the poison she asked for. Be careful (cautelosa) with it Genaro tells Lily. If Diablo finds out I gave it to you we’ll be in big trouble. I’m not an idiot and I know how to do things well, Lily emphasizes.

Radames is at home alone without daughter Deborah or the rest of his family. After the housekeeper tells him Deb left early in the morning and didn’t say when she’d be back, he tells the her to not bother giving him any food since he has no appetite. Meanwhile, Elena, her siblings and their kids are laughing happily. Fernanda and Nacho return and all the children, except Lucha, hugs Fernanda. “Everyone missed you,” Nacho says playing peacemaker. Lucha doesn’t hug Nanda but tells her welcome back home. Ignacio asks them to try to get along; Lucha says she holds no bitterness but she’ll come by the house whenever she wants; Nanda says she’ll try harder to have less friction with Lucha. Lily then shows up suddenly and ruins all the familial happiness. She insults Lucha saying she stole Daniel from her, to which Danny says "we weren't a couple." Lucha says I didn’t take anything from you since he wasn’t yours. Danny asks Lucha if they could leave and while they exit Liliana spews more venom. “I wonder how long your happiness will last, miserables?” Lucha turns around to beat the stuffing out of Lily but is held back by Danny.

Elena calls Lily a venomous snake (arpia) and Lily asks since when is Elena so brave when she wasn’t so with her woman beater husband. Elena asks how does she know Radames beat her since she wasn’t there when the beatings happened. Did Radames beat you, maybe? Lily denies this and tells her mother to come back with her. Fernanda says no since she felt like a stranger in Lily’s home. Her place is with her husband and family. Lily says she has settled (conformar) for the crumbs her father has given her and the next time Ignacio and the family belittles her, Fernanda shouldn’t dare come to her home since she won’t take her in. Lily angrily takes her leave.

Meanwhile Radames licks his wounds at home, crying and sulking as he remembers the good thing he had with Elena and Nacho. He smells one of Elena’s dresses and remembers what a good mom she is to Nacho and then cries bitterly that they can’t do this to him, not to him. Selfish to the end, this one.

LOS MISERABLES-CAP 28 PARTE 4- VISITA INESPERADA (UNEXPECTED VISIT)-VIERNES NOV 7, 2014

*(Last paragraph should reach Nachito instead of Nacho; Nacho is Ignacio, Nachito is Elena's son)*

Lucha, Daniel and Roxanita are back at Lucha and Deyanira’s place. While Danny puts the sleeping Roxanita to bed, Deya tells Lucha that Roque was there to hurt her and ended up fighting with Memin. Lucha says they’ll change the locks to high security ones and she’ll tell Daniel so he can help finding Roque and Nuria since they won’t be safe with Roque and Nuria on the loose.

At Depa Oleg/Lily, Anselmo tells Lily that Yesenia Maria is there with Oleg. Lily storms off angrily to her room and promises to destroy Lucha later since she’s the strong plate/dish; but for now, she’ll destroy the naco de Yesenia Maria and the baby she’s carrying with the abortivo she got from Genaro. The following morning Lily carries out her threat and cooks a rich and inviting looking breakfast with coffee and orange juice to which she adds the abortivo. She bribes and threatens the housekeeper Eusebia to bring the food without telling Yesenia Maria Lily made it. Eusebia does as she’s told but Yesenia Maria wants the food and juice only and skips the coffee since it makes her nauseous since she’s pregnant. Lily is upset when Eusebia brings out the platter with the untouched coffee. She promises Yesenia Maria will not escape from her plans.

Oleg visits Misericordia again while Sor Amparo complains of pain to Lucha. Lucha is visibly uncomfortable at his presence and excuses herself to attend to patients. Oleg donates a large sum to the hospital and asks that the next time he comes by to donate, Lucha takes the money from him personally.

Roque shows up in Gaston’s office in a suit and tries to access the flash drive; Gaston stops him from using computer and Roque inadvertently leaves behind the drive in Gaston’s computer.

Meanwhile Lucha confesses to Dr. Carlos that she feels disloyal to Daniel because Oleg is chasing after her and Daniel revealed to her that Oleg is the person behind Cesar’s killing (autor intellectual) and he wouldn’t have done so unless he was in love with her. To which I yell, THEN TELL DANNY ALL THAT YOU KNOW, LUCHA; but that would be too much like right.

Sor Amparo tells Sor Milagros she's unsure if they should accept Oleg's donation. Milagros says they can't afford to reject such a generous donation. Lucha comes in and tells them not to accept it and to ask Danny why they shouldn't. The irony is not lost on me that Milagros is jumping to accept drug money from a real drug dealer while she judged Lucha so harshly for being a convicted drug felon.

Lily continues with Kill Yesenia Maria and her unborn child, 2.0, by putting water on the top of the marble stairs so she can trip as she descends. Lily ensures Yesenia Maria will take the stairs, and not the elevator, as she leaves the hotel by getting Genaro to cut the lights when YM is leaving. YM, of course, takes the stairs and promptly falls. As she cries out for help (“Auxilio!”) Lily sneaks to the back door to see the fallen YM and smiles, satisfied that she accomplished her aim.

END OF CAPITULO

Los Mis

Tks so much J desde NYC. I'm going to try & watch today.

Los Miserables

Thanks, J desde NYC, for a very thorough recap. I especially enjoyed your insight on the "Madonna/whore dichotomy in Western culture".

Is it me or are we seeing the beginning of a change in the relationship between Fernanda and Lucha. Perhaps Fernanda will become one of her biggest supporters.

And Lilly is indeed telling on herself since it appears that noone knew about Radames' abusive behavior except he and Elena.

So Gaston now has the flash drive. I'm guessing that he won't turn it over to the police but instead will try to blackmail Lilly.

I also dislike watching Lucha comfort Daniel and Octavio and spend peaceful moments with them when she's the key to finding the real killer. Telling the truth should have been a risk she was willing to take.

LOS MIZ

jlk, thanks so much for writing about Thursday's show. I also liked Elena's quick reflexes! And she may have made a mistake trusting the lawyer, but unlike many telenovela characters, she recognized her error and moved on. Yay!

J desde NYC, I'm kind of squinting to keep myself from reading your recap of Friday's show because I haven't seen the episode yet. I'm looking forward to watching and then reading, maybe tonight! Thanks a bunch!

J desde NYC, thank you SO MUCH for the EXCELLENT
recap and the time that you devoted to writing it. I think
that the person who coined the phrase "male chauvinist
pig" must have been anticipating El Diablo. What a
disgusting jerk! Gabriel Porras is doing a great job with
the part. I've always liked him and found him attractive,
but in this novela he's almost unrecognizable.

LOS MIZ

J desde NYC -- what a fabulous recap! Thank you so much! I especially enjoyed all your asides like this one:

"I yell, THEN TELL DANNY ALL THAT YOU KNOW, LUCHA; but that would be too much like right."

I felt like we were watching it together :)

I was trying to remember where I last saw the "evil woman causes unsuspecting pregnant woman to fall and miscarry by making the floor slippery" trope -- it was on everyone's favorite upscale telenovela, Downton Abbey! [O'Brien pulled the dirty trick on Lady Cora, resulting in the loss of the needed male heir to the estate.]

jlk: gracias for your Thursday recap! I feel lost without a reminder of what went on, and not being competent to do it myself, I rely on your generosity.

Thank you J desde NYC, for Friday's. I'm still not conversant in back-story and prior relationships and know nothing about Cesar except that he was murdered and that Lucha knows about it and will likely be blamed (I think). So gracias for spelling everything out so clearly for a newcomer like me. I laughed myself silly when I saw Lili with the mop at the top of the stairs. This is such a hackneyed TN standard and sure enough our victim lay on the landing clutching her belly.

I'm getting nervous about Oligario's obsession with Lucha. He is a ruthless maniac. So, is Radames beholden to him, or the other way around?

I have a hunch Fernanda is going to waffle between acceptance of her real family, warts & all and her deep-seated resentment about being 2nd fiddle to Ignacio's true love. I bet she'll cause more trouble before she finally sees the light. I see her as essentially good, but a weak link.

LOS MIZ

Agnes, Olegario/El Diablo is definitely on the top of the food chain. Radamés answers to him. Lily used to be Radamés' lover. When she slithered her way into Olegario's arms and bed, Radamés had to watch and seethe, but couldn't do anything about it.

Fernanda may seem sympathetic at the moment, but we have seen her behaving very badly. It's a good sign, though, that she recognizes that Lily has crossed the line. That suggests that for her, there actually IS a line.

LOS MIZ: Thanks a millón NvMv. I'm starting to get it now.
