La Gata #76 12/16/14 La Locura
I'm going to do this all out of order. There were really only two story arcs that saw any action (and believe me I am using the term "story arc" VERY loosely.)
Oh, and my notes were crap. La Gata must have sedative affects because I was drifting during the episode and as soon as the closing credits ran I hit the hay and slept hard until my alarm went off this morning.
Fela is found
But she is found more as an accident. It's not like anyone was ACTIVELY searching for her.
Augie brought Blanca pictures and news clippings of Esme and Blanca is not amused. She wants the real deal. She doesn't believe he is her husband. He says he is and can prove it. He takes her to the mansion that used to be Fer's, but was stolen by the MNs and is now back under the ownership of Fer. While she's there, Blanca has a hallucination of Fer. She freaks out and runs out the door and on to the terrace and starts screaming.
Fer sees her on the terraces and...just stares. WTF? Ok, finally he gets moving. He runs into his study and grabs a gun and starts yelling. Jarohca and Meche were downstairs bemoaning the number of people missing from the dinner table these days. They hear his shouts and they follow.
Fer runs to the mansion across the street, but the door is locked. Eventually Omar comes along and unlocks the door for him.
Meanwhile, Augie is on the terrace trying to remind Blanca that the people across the street are the bad folks that have it out for them. Unfortunately, Blanca is easily led. She believes Augie's bola de bull and meekly allows him to take her back inside.
Fer barges in like a madman waving the gun around. Jarocha and Meche soon follow and beg him not to kill Augie. Even Blanca begs him not to kill HER HUSBAND (aw jeez. Where's my nerfazo™ launcher?)Clearly Blanca is addled. She is convinced that Fer is the one who took her husband and child from her. Fer is the bad man! She refuses to go with him.
Jarocha and Meche decide the need to call Esme. Idiots.
Fer is a relatively cool head and calls the cops. They arrive and everyone heads down to the precinct.
Moving on to Ines
She fainted. It either means she's pregnant or has the Alonso Virus (see TdA.) She's pregnant. Could this mean a turn around for Ines? Technically she hasn't killed anyone, but she does seem to be the most criminal of the criminals.
It's definitely a cult
Pabs goes to see Fer. He wants Esme out of the institute! Fer doesn't think they can go against Esme's wishes.
Pablo wants to see Esme but Doc Hot won't let him. There are rules! It's not visiting day! Pablo insists he will get Esme out of there! He doesn't think the institute is helping.
Esme never even finds out about his visit! Virginia is the one that tells her about it. Esme tells Virginia Pabs has to understand that she wants to stay. (During the conversation she asks Virginia about how she got to teach? Viriginia is teaching beginning Braille and hopes to be moving up to intermediate? Esme also mentions her desire to go into early childhood teaching? Some mumbling about jewelry design as well?)
Then Jarocha and Meche call the institute and the Doc won't let them talk Esme. He hangs up on them. Luckily, they call Virginia who lets Esme talk to them.
After talking to Jarocha and Meche and hearing that Pabs was refused a visit, Esme is pissed and confronts the Doc. She decides to leave the institute with Pablo. They discuss the situation with Augie and Blanca. Pabs can't believe his dad is a kidnapper.
All the Rest
Most episode we are subjected to the usual boring conversations.
- Much to the delight of our male viewers, Esme gets PT in a bathing suit.
- Pablo babbles with the babies in front of the LSD inspired mural.
- Esme gets PT with Doc Hot. The pain is good!! She falls! Dot Hot is there to catch her and hold her!
- That other patient is over the moon. Her boyfriend wants them to get married. She asks Esme to be her "madrina". Girlfriend confirms Esme's suspicions. Doc Hot loves Esme. Esme goes and makes it clear to Doc Hot that she is in love with Pabs.
- Pablo is sure the Doc loves Esme. Mariano tells him Esme loves only Pablo. Pablo shouldn't doubt her. (And Mariano looks even hotter holding a baby.)
- Gisela goes to see Pabs. She's kind of annoyed that he keeps painting La Gata. Somehow they end up talking about Esme and her strength of will. She WILL walk again!
Esme heads for the precinct and wants to see Fela.
Mariano sees Augie (as a lawyer.) Augie's defense? Even Blanca says I'm her husband! She wanted to stay with me! she's nuts!

Next: Episode 77

Best scene was Mariano and Pablo each holding a baby while walking around.
Augie does have a great defense. Fela is definitely out of it. Maybe Esme can bring her back around but no one will believe a thing she says anyway.
I am just so annoyed by the Fela kidnapping story. No one really looked for her. She was only found by accident and now she's confused and will NOT be back with her family any time soon.
But, then again maybe seeing Esme will cure her enough that she can go home with Fer.
I was actually shouting at the TV, but mostly for the Fela parts...so frustrating! I'm glad she's "back," though but I'm concerned about what state she's in. Poor woman doesn't deserve any of this crap! I really hope she recovers enough to accuse Augie of kidnapping. I really don't like how he was just pawning it all off on her--"Hey, she's crazy! I just happened to find her here. Who are you going to believe, me or the crazy woman?" Big anvils coming for you, Augie!
"Fer sees her on the terraces and...just stares. WTF?" That and Jarocha and Meche's starting were the cause of a lot of my screaming. Every other time people have been hanging out on those two balconies, they very clearly see each other...this time everybody's all "Hey, who's that out on the balcony?" And Omar? WTF, man! He just stood there on the stairs! Mr. 5ft said "Would you want to go inside with the pissed off guy with the gun?" Probably not, but he just stood there...holding the groceries. *facepalm*
"During the conversation she asks Virginia about how she got to teach? Viriginia is teaching beginning Braille and hopes to be moving up to intermediate? Esme also mentions her desire to go into early childhood teaching? Some mumbling about jewelry design as well?" Yes. And also...huh? It was a disjointed conversation at best and didn't make sense in the "I think maybe you need to meet with a career counselor or a life coach before you make any definite plans" sort of way. It's like they tried to answer all my gripes of the other day about how she picks stuff up and then drops it, but they didn't answer it so much as make me think "Here she goes again!"
"After talking to Jarocha and Meche and hearing that Pabs was refused a visit, Esme is pissed and confronts the Doc." He kept talking about how there could be setbacks if her routine is disrupted. What? She's not doing alcohol/drug rehab or having serious mental health issues, and she's not in a delicate state of physical health. The mission statement of this place is bizarre. Virginia always talked about it as a place where people with disabilities go to learn how to get along in the world. When Doc Hottie was first pitching it to Esme, he described it the same way. Then, the minute he gets her in there it becomes all about how she needs to be isolated and protected from the outside world. What happened to "people with disabilities are just like everybody else and want the same things"? Was dignity and respect not included in that? Anyway...I'm glad she left.
"Pabs can't believe his dad is a kidnapper." Hey, Pablo, remember when you couldn't believe your dad would have a guy thrown in jail just to steal all his stuff?
The boys having their lunch date with the babies was cute. I tuned them out and focused on the pretty, pretty pictures :)
Aw, crap. Ines is pregnant. I don't like the kid's chances.
Please stay us up to date like this. Thank you for sharing.
Feel free to surf to my homepage...."
I'm cracking up! That's a spam comment that showed up in my email, but it was eerily appropriate!
I guess Ines is pregnant so she can break the cycle of babies being raised by Rita? Hey, she could raise the kid to be a master criminal!
I have no faith that anyone will ever follow up with a criminal investigation of Fela's kidnapping. After all, did anyone follow up with an investigation of Pablo and Esme's car being forced off the road? Did anyone follow up with an investigation of the snake in the hospital bed?
This thing is a mess.
We also thought of Gringo and David during that pool physical therapy scene. Better slip someone an extra $100 to insure the PT certificate is processed in a timely manner because it looks like Esme will be needing a new PT.
This thing is a mess. I agree...but I'm in it for the wedding dress at the end.
Dear Univison,
Please edit. 2 episodes in one will be just fine.
And if it isn't asking too much, give us something good in this slot when this is over.
And I don't mean to sound cranky, but why did you edit DQTQTQ...which was pretty good...and you AREN'T editing this?
Seriously, thank you Sara! This novella is just astounding. Absolutely astounding! Bless you!
This show is crap. It's true. But then I love the recaps. (I confess I've gone back and read Eli and her sister's conversation a few times today.)
And the wedding dress.
"This has got to be the sappiest, most mindless piece of crap that Televisa ever came up with!
Yet the recaps are hilarious and priceless!" -- riberajoe
Mercifully, I had to bail mid way through for a dinner party but got to see my bebe Mariano holding a bebe. Why, oh, why does he persist in being chaste and noble in his love for Esmeralda? Why, oh, why has the most erotic touching happened in the pool, in broad daylight, by a robotherapist?
The Doc is creeping me out and he's kinda like one of the undead.
Ok. This instituto story line is just redonkulous. Lila, were you the one that said that as PSA material, it's awful. Gawd. Is that really what they are trying to do? Are we sure it isn't an anti-cult message? (Oh, I guess that still counts as a PSA...maybe I just misunderstood thinking it was a "treat exceptional people fairly" message. Go ahead and rip into me, I don't know what the PC term is for "discapacitado")
Do they sell pregnancy test kits at the prison gift shop, or do you have to smuggle one in baked into a torta?
For me, it's a toss up as to whether Augie or Fela is craziest.
Mariano seems to have a lousy client base - so far it's only Augie.
I am glad that Esme is finally out of that school or cult or whatever it was, and that she and Pabs didn't get into some brujaja about hurt feelings or whatever.
Thanks again, Sara.
David
Isn't Mariano still working for Fer?
I say Augie is the craziest 'cause I don't like him. I like Fela, so I will cut her some slack.
I'm very glad Esme has been deprogrammed.
1. They know what the ratings were in Mexico. If it was a flop there, don't show it here. If they decide to air it anyway, LEAVE IT ALONE.
2. If it's a hit there and not here, leave it alone anyway. Don't piss off the viewers that are watching.
school has either lost or misplaced my file. They are informing me that I will have to take the course all over again. They're sorry but there is nothing they can do. I thought that my diploma had been mailed out but because of the missing file it hadn't been. Maite needs me NOW!!! Blind Doctor Hottie is a fake. I saw him grab Maite last night. And why does he wear sun glasses outside and takes them off when he's inside? This I would like to know! And another thing. Why does blind Doctor Hottie have an eye chart on the wall next to his desk? I've got to get there some way some how. Maite doesn't know the danger that she is in.
the gringo
As far as I can tell, Mariano's job is running the Wayward Street Kids in Need of Education Foundation, co-defending Fernando in his lawsuit against Augie (from which Augie fired him), and defending Augie in the current case. Although, what IS the current case? Just trespassing or are they trying to get kidnapping too?
Ah, CorazonSalvaje, that gives me hope for the future!
gringo, now that's damned funny!
No problems with the course you need to repeat. Just go down to the guy in your neighborhood who forges passports and driver's licenses and have a diploma and a PT license made up, then head for Ciudad de Mexico while the ink is drying.
I agree with you that blind doc seems to be exceptionally aware of things around him for a sightless guy. That groping fall onto Esme was interesting.
5ft, hadn't thought about buns in the oven jokes, but I guess I kind of stumbled that way, didn't I?
David
gringo-I'm going to start paying much closer attention to the shady Doc Hot.
Okay here are my puzzlers for the day:
How come Augie has a key to come and go at will into Fernando's spare mansion? (I realize Augie used to live in it but why not change the locks?)
Are they going to operate on Virginia to restore her sight? If so, better get that storyline started.
The whole Instituto for Differently Abled smacks of a plot extender, but they are not apparently extending.
Why do all the most promising and interesting story-lines seem to peter out like a car running out of gas?
