Mi Corazon es tuyo, #98, Thursday The three stages of dragging out a telenovela
Labels: mcet
Seemed it was everyone being their usual selves. Fun times.
Isa was being a pain in the a** and manipulating Alicia. I would say poor girl except she knows she is going against her father and breaking rules. They are playing Pablo definitely as a young Johny, but not worth breaking the rules to sit on a couch with.
I do think Fer was clueless in showing Ana the baby pics. His lack of having a decent man friend to share news with shows a bit. But when it comes to Ana, he still isn't there in respecting her space or feelings as she tells him,it's still all about him. How many times do we have to hear Ana tell him she's not over how their past has gone. I know I'm tired of it...
Soooooooo....are we going to get a Leon/Laura hook up? Leon/Fanny may be end game, but maybe we are going to get a real screwy "dating other people" route to get there?
I wasn't a fan of Fanny giving Maricela the iPod. To her that seemed like a simple gift, and one of her sweaters probably costs the same, so it's no biggie. But that's a big deal to someone in that environment. (noticed the immediate looks from the others.) I totally get her intent, and it was sweet, but Lenin and Edith are right in that in a group home like that, showing favoritism to one person may mushroom to difficult requests to start doing the same for everyone. Part of her learning experience I guess.
Edith breaks my heart and I am so liking her character more every show.
Previews look interesting. Wrong of me to wish the whole dancing thing would just be revealed and be done?

All telenovelas that were deemed as being mostly targeted towards the young audience had sex scenes, some more obvious than others.
Daisy, I missed the part with the i-pod, but I totally agree with you - that is not OK, to give a kid in that environment such an important gift, while the others just look on.
It looks to me like Fanny is just clueless about the world that she dived into and she should listen to some of teh advice, but also follow her good natured instincts once in a while.
Why the hate for Pablo? He's awkward and a bit goofy, but seems harmless and a nice kid. Why do smart women go crazy over evil psycho Reeky? Just because he's muy guapo?
Isabela sounded like a dog herself howling after getting bitten by Siete and growling at the end of the scene. She is planning on killing the dog. I wonder how.
It was interesting seeing Ana trying to react appropriately when Fernando shows her the photo of the baby from the ultrasound. I liked Ana presenting their relationship by the three "etapas" and that she has not forgotten what he did to her when he married Isabela.
Yolanda is sure showing that her patience with Isabela is running out. I hope we see a Yolanda gone rogue and out of Isabela's control doing exactly what she wants to.

Rat poison will be Isabloated's weapon or she wouldn't have needed to mention it. A building like that wouldn't have rats and I doubt she lives on the ground floor anyway.
There are definite boundary issues in this family and Fernando is particularly clueless about that because he has no male friends. This is not normal.

also agree with DaisynJay on the iPod not being an appropriate present for Maricela. Fanny does not know of 'lack'. She has got pretty much everything she has wanted, so she does not know the concept of the practical value of things... i think a TV for the home or a game table or something they all could have enjoyed together would have been much better. Totally agree on Lenin's comment that now other kids there will expect her to give them something.
I have volunteered for the Salvation Army Angel Tree project and have done the 'pick up' day. The only tough moment there is when a family has multiple kids that have asked for bikes and only one kid gets it and the other one doesn't... tough on the parent and it makes us all feel bad too. So if i pick up an angel tree card for a kid that wants a bike, I would like to make sure i could afford to buy them one.
this is the same type of situation. have to be even with kids that cannot have much or families that cannot afford everything the kids would want.
isa howled? maybe Siete has wolf ancestors ... LOL!!
also, rat poison? maybe Isa has seen the cockroach before and is going for overkill to get rid of it... #jk...
Adriana, loved your Isa nicks and the # on Leon... yeah he is no prince charming, even if he does have his little heart there somewhere.
Totally agree that Fernando still has some learning to do if he wants Ana... he needs to put himself in her shoes and begin to understand what she has gone through and see the world from her point of view and give her her respect and value before he can expect her to 'forgive and forget and start over as if he never hurt her'.
Rip, don't dislike Pablo,he's a sweet kid, but I don't like the way they are "playing" the character to be Johny-like ( the laugh is totally unnecessary), but if Alicia likes him, that's great. She should NOT, however, be breaking the rules, no matter how much she doesn't like them, to sneak around being with him. That's just making things worse for him in her father's eyes.

"A kids show does not typically involve sex scenes such as the scenes with Jennifer and Nicolas when they first had sexual relations with each other. Or at least a kids show SHOULD NOT have any of this happening! This is an adult show!"
Tell that to the stupid producers! The fact is that there has apparently been no communication between the writers and the producer. Otherwise, there would be an adult dialogue and some truly adult sexual "action" would have kept us awake. The dance act, as some have said before, may be a bit "blue"/redlight district in its presentation, but truly it is nothing more than something you'd see in a circus act and no more than a preteen's version of what naughty sexuality mixed with some adult sensuality and romance must be--not necessariy is. The dialogue has been just this side of preteen and the humor is anything but adult--unless you frequent shows filled with toilet bowl humor like the ENDLESS whoopy cushions incidents we've suffered through ad nauseum ad infinitum that only double digit IQ's and poorly brought up grade-schoolers could/would appreciate. That's what we've been dealing with here and it's been for months now. Anybody Seb's age should be ashamed to be still watching this.
==============
Thanks, Adriana Noel, for a great recap that's captured the detail and for bringing up exactly what I'd been thinking.
"Pablo encerrado" is genius!
Rat poison to kill the kids' beloved pet? Eee gawds!!
Nothing better happen to Siete, but Isabitch is toast whether it does or not. Her intent is enough. When I think of how she treated Sebas I want to put on Ximena's shoes and kick her across Mexico.
In Fernando's defense, the photo of the baby will have a purpose. Someone will look at it and wonder if it's Freaky's. He didn't seem all that excited about this.
Good morning to Jardinera and good to hear from you!
I don't recall this being billed as a kids show but rather as a comedy. That description is still a bit of a stretch sometimes for the same reasons. Remember for example the scenes of Johnny in Doro's basement? Those bordered on torture and were very def not comedy.
As to Pablo--maybe he is part of the comedy but please. Not funny. His laugh alone is a deal-breaker for most teenage girls I suspect.
Most intriguing for me last night was Manuela's appearance in that meditation retreat. Without the heavy makeup she was stunning! Wonder if Bruno is going to mount a rescue campaign to get her out of there....
Okay, off to the salt mines.

Thank you for the great recap. Can't decide which name for Isabela that I like the most.
J in Oregon -- I agree about Manuela, who looked very pretty and is obviously in search of inner peace after both losing Bruno and hitting him over the head with the frying pan! Interesting that he is thinking about her.
How different this novela might have been at maybe 120 episodes! There would have been no need to eliminate the cute events with the kids, just a great opportunity to pick up the pace and get the big issues resolved.
It definitely looks like Fanny is headed toward getting Fernando to set up some kind of a foundation or redirect the activities of the existing one founded by Fanny, Sr. Still, the iPod for Marcela is a bad idea and just the kind of thing that we are all tempted to do when we encounter poverty and loss for the first time. Fairness to all victims within that context is both necessary and hard to achieve.
The actor playing Lenin has potential, but the kid playing Pablo? I am embarrassed for him. Alicia can do better and Isabrat is setting her up for a nasty fall.
Daisynjay: ITA about Fanny giving the girl an ipod. Not smart. Fanny still has a lot to learn and I think Lenin was right to warn her about promising too much.
I wasn't concerned with Fer showing Ana the baby pics. She asked how it went and he showed her. If she is to be in his life she has to accept the fact that he has a child with Isa. Do we know how far along Isa is?
I liked how Ana called the hospital their second home because it sure has!
I think Laura has a thing about going after attached men. I feel like she wouldn't give him the time of day if he wasn't with Fanny.
To answer your question, because that's all they really know how to do. Yolanda has very little respect for other people and their boundaries and Isa has none at all. But since the wicked are hoisted on their own petards sooner or later, we can expect some creative Karmageddon for the two of them.
On the subject of Manuela, I am wondering if she will return without her sex drive.
The methods:
1. Extend the refried from the previous day
2. Show lots of flashbacks
3. Have many silly antics that don't pertain to the plot at all
Just when we thought Laura was no more, she rears her ugly head. Now she's going to mess with her just renewed friend Fanny and Leon.
I've never seen a sonogram picture like that one. They've come a long way with the imaging.
What is the plot point with Manuela? Did the actress take ill and they needed to have the character gone for a while until she got better?
The actress who plays Soledad looks like she's had a stroke or something. She kind of talks with her mouth to one side. And isn't there always a fire at an orphanage or church that they therefore lose all their records?
Working from home today,I just watched the scene with Manuela because I used that to run to the kitchen for some coffee last night. She looks very serene and quite lovely. I can't really figure out if we were supposed to see that as her walking to a new life, or a heads up as to how she'll come back.
I'm with you Alice (and welcome!!), it gets annoying mainly seeing Isa sitting around plotting and whining all day, but that's usually the "occupation" for the villianess type charecters in these shows. At least last night, she actually was shown to have made an appearance at work. Bet she's not an employee favorite with her I come in when I please hours.
Daisynjay
when my kids (17-21 yo now) were born the only sonogram pictures you got were like x-rays, bone structure alone.
the 3-D tech in sonograms is fairly recent.
Are we supposed to believe that warm, loving, easily attached Ana wouldn't have kept in touch with the nuns who raised her? They lose their records in a fire and suddenly they have no idea how to reach the girl who was left on their doorstep? She didn't hear about the fire and check in with them to make sure they were okay? She's never been back to visit, especially since she's been looking for her mother and probably would have wanted them to know how to find her just in case her mother ever came back? Ooooookay.
Laura is a nasty piece of work. I think she's mostly interested in Leon because she resents Fanny for not supporting her more. I don't know why Leon would return the interest, especially since he was there for the Truth or Dare game and saw how Laura went after Nando when he was with Ximena. Plus, SHE SLEPT WITH ENRIQUE. UGH NASTY COOTIES.
I can believe she genuinely regrets selling herself to Enfrique; in the "later" scene I was imagining what he might have made her do. However, she will have to learn that earning honest money to pay for school is a far better thing to do. WTH are her parents, anyway?
I think more recently I've seen hospital gowns that have snaps down the sides, so no one is going around the hospital with their backside exposed.
I seem to recall Ana saying that the orphanage didn't exist any more. However if it was run by a religious order--as it seems to have been--that would surely be the place Ana could have left contact information. (Of course, that would have required logic and if she had done that we wouldn't have any story!)

How in the world did you come across or find the website for Fanny's gorgeous necklaces?
I am in awe of your investigative skills!!!
I immediately forwarded the site to my daughter. Great website just in time for Christmas! !
Can't believe you found out where to purchase the necklaces !!
I've seen those necklaces in stores for $30+. How do you love wholesale? :)
I am very frugal now that my husband and I are living off of SS, but I would gladly pay $30 for a gorgeous necklace like Fanny wore as a necklace and belt (page 2).!!
Glad you're back, Jardinera.
Nanette
I've seen the those necklaces on American TV. Not as big or as pretty, though.

Features a bunch of actors from their novelas (a number of which haven't aired in US yet) dancing and lip-synching to "La vida es mejor cantando."
Mi corazon es tuyo sections include Jorge Salinas, Silvia Navarro, Paulina Goto, the kids, Mayrín Villanueva, Carmen Salinas, René Casados and Pablo Montero.
Even though he is only featured for about 2 seconds, Rene Casados still somehow manages to out-ham everybody. If there was a fight and ham-acting was the weapon of choice, is there anybody you'd rather have on your side than Casados?
They had a bunch of actors stay in character. Love the in-character antagonist bitchface of Azela Robinson from Yo no creo en los hombres and the villainous conspiring in midst of the fun by Claudia Ramirez and Luis Gatica from El color de la pasion.
