Mi Corazon es tuyo, #98, Thursday The three stages of dragging out a telenovela
Diving
straight into the new stuff…
Fernando
and Isabloated are talking about Alicia wanting to spend some time with
step-mommy dearest. Fer doesn’t agree, as he doesn’t like the way Isa has
treated his kids while she was living at the house, she has proved to be a mala
influencia on them. But Isa insists, why should Alicia be punished? They hit it
off right from the start and they are such BFF’s now. Fer reluctantly agrees,
but it was nice to see that he’s now fully aware of Isa’s bad influence in the
house.
They
go to see Diego and Isa is on her usual worst behavior, trying to shake his
hand and then brushing it off like it’s no biggie. Fer is very worried for his
brother’s future, it is Diego who ends up comforting him.
At
school, Fanny and the class find out they need to prepare for an exam. Lenin
stares at Fanny, like he usually does and Fanny talks to Edith about Leon’s
jealousy. She thinks that Leon was kind of right to be mad, because she and
Lenin were spotted in a rather close chat. Edith is going to the orphanage soon
and asks if Fanny will join her.
Leon
is on the street, looking upset and thinking about Fanny. He picks up the
drawings that he had prepared for her. Then he meets Laura and she asks him if
he wouldn’t like to drink a coffee together. They briefly talk about her
relationship with Enrique and he agrees to coffee, but he needs to talk to his
mother first. With Leon away, Laura remembers how she always thought that Leon
was a handsome guy (#handsoff, Leon is no sugar daddy).
Later
they do get that coffee and Laura tells Leon that she slept with Reeks and he
paid her tuition and then Fanny found out. Now Laura is very ashamed, she knows
that she did a wrong thing and that’s why she wanted to talk to Reeks about it,
when he told her that she was basically just an expensive booty call.
Then
the talk turns to Leon’s drawings for Fanny. Laura sees them and finds them
very creepy sad.
Edith
and Fanny are in a bus (?) together and Fanny is remembering how Reeks tried to
make a move on her. This prompts Edith to remember her own bad experience –
unfortunately, in her case, the abuse went all the way, as she didn’t have
Fanny’s luck.
Back
at the hospital, Nico is whishing Diego good luck with the operation. Fer tells
his brother that he loves him, which Nico finds endearing and quite a good
medicine for his literally broken heart. (How sad that two out of the three
Lascurain men two had to be on a hospital bed for them to reach this kind of
understanding and acceptance). Just before Diego is taken away, Ana storms in
and whishes him good luck, too. Natalia is also there, and kisses him, while
Ana respectfully takes a step back. Nico tells Ana that the docs still have to
run some tests before they let him out of the hospital. As Diego is taken away,
Jenny hugs Nico and Fer looks longingly at Ana.
Later
Fer is alone in Diego’s room, day-dreaming about his brother and their recent
fights, when Ana comes in. Fer tells her that Alicia will have lunch with Isa
today, which Ana doesn’t like, but she doesn’t object to it. Also, he found out
that he’s having a baby boy – and he shows Ana some pictures of the “baby-in-the-womb”
variety. Maybe that is too tacky from his part (what do you think, Viewerville?)
because she tries to be happy for him, but she’s obviously upset and crying.
She asks how will they name the baby – Diego? Nicolas? Diego Nicolas (how about
if they gave the baby his own name?)
At
the company, Yolanda and Isafatty talk about the pregnancy, the sonogram and
the baby’s fake daddy. Isa asks Yola to stop yapping about it, telling Fer that
the baby looks just like him, because someone might suspect something. Reeks
comes in to talk business (supposedly) and Yola leaves, but not before calling
them both shameless.
At the
hospital, Ana is now alone, day-dreaming about kissing Fernando.
(100
episodes and approximatively 3 kisses – not too much to fantasize about – I
know this is a kids show, but the protas look more like brother and sister after
so many episodes of “no action”; Ana was more lovable with Diego when she was
trying to be a good novia - just saying).
Fer
interrupts her and he wants to talk about them, but Ana doesn’t think this is
the right time. Fer objects that it’s never the right time, because something
is always happening. Yes, but Ana isn’t ready to talk romance because she still
can’t forget everything that happened between them. The way she puts it, there
were three stages to their relationship so far: the first one - when she met
him, she was just swept off her feet, allowing herself to dream of a future
together, completely mesmerized by the possibility of being part of his family;
then came the second stage, the heartbreak, him choosing Isa over fighting for
their love – that was not easy for her to overcome, all the pain and the sorrow
and the constant crying that Viewerville painfully remembers; and now the third
stage, when he’s finally rid of the ex, he wants to jump right in with her, but
she just can’t. So she prefers to leave the hospital and get news on Diego
through the phone, she has to take care of the kids.
At the
mansion Bruno is calling Manuela’s mom, but the woman hasn’t seen her daughter.
All she knows is that Manuela is taking a spiritual retreat (meditating) and we
see Manuela do just that, somewhere in an open area (maybe someone could share
some information about this, I was kind of FF through it, even if I was
supposed to take notes for the recap). Ana comes in and they start talking
about Manuela and how Bruno is only worried for her as a friend. He wants to know
what’s up with Fer, but Ana tells him that nothing is going on because she can’t
go there yet.
They
hear Isa shouting in the living room. They arrive just in time to see Siete
trying to mess with her. She is hysterical (her usual state), but then Bruno
tells her how much the kids love the dog, which gives her pause (hmmm, what do
you plan to do, you evil hag?)
Nando
comes by the hospital to check on his uncle. He hasn’t heard from Ximena in a
while, but he’s fine with it. Fer tells him he had the idea of searching for
Soledad online, could Nando look into it?
And
talking about Soledad, she’s telling her friend about how once she was out of
prison she went to search for her daughter, but the orphanage had burned down
and all the documents were forever lost. Besides, many years had gone by, her
daughter had to have been a young lady by then. An old monjita did remember the
guitar, but nothing about the little girl.
The
kids arrive home and Alicia is happy to see that Isahypocrite is there. Bruno
is tending to her Siete inflicted wound. The other kids go upstairs (they don’t
feel like socializing with Isa), but Alicia can’t wait for her date. Isa confirms
that she talked to Pablo and tells her to go change into something pretty, but
when Alicia is gone, she makes a point of showing her utter dislike of the girl.
Also, she tells the camera that she decided to do something to Siete. (Say
what?)
Upstairs
Ana sees how pretty Alicia is getting and she wonders if it’s just for a lunch
date with Isa. Why, yes, of course, Isa is taking her somewhere fancy. But Ana
doesn’t buy it, as soon as Alicia is gone she suspects that the whole story has
something to do with Pablo (aqui hay Pablo encerrado – LOL).
Fanny
is at the orphanage with the kids and Lenin. She promises one of the girls that
she will help her find her friend. Lenin asks her not to make promises that she
won’t be able to keep, because what if the other kids ask her to do things that
she will have to turn down? Fanny doesn’t understand his attack, she’s willing
to help everyone as much as she can, she doesn’t see the harm in that. Me
thinks Lenin would like some of the attention Fanny is giving others to be
solely for him, so he’s making up ways to be on her case all the time.
Isa
and Alicia arrive at the apartment, which Alicia finds charming. The maid is
around, too, and Isa asks her to wear a chef’s hat whenever she is handling the
food. She further encourages Alicia’s sneaking behavior and then goes to ask
the maid if they have any rat poison.
Pablo
arrives with a rose for Alicia. I still CAN NOT believe that this guy is worth
the trouble! While the kids are chatting in the living room, Isa tells them
that she needs to go out to do some shopping (she needs to buy rat poison).
Fer
is at the hospital, waiting for Diego to be brought back from the OR, when Ana
calls him to ask about Diego. She also says that Alicia left with Isa and she
feels like Pablo might be involved in the whole outing.
Before
Fer has the time to say anything, Diego is brought back. The doctor says that
he’s fine, but there is no telling yet if the operation was a success or not.

Please stop saying this is a kids show. Kids shows don't glorify being a stripper aka dancing suggestively on a pole. Kids shows do not have characters that sleep with men to get a paid education. A kids show does not typically involve sex scenes such as the scenes with Jennifer and Nicolas when they first had sexual relations with each other. Or at least a kids show SHOULD NOT have any of this happening! This is an adult show!

Oh my stars! Adrians, your title is perfection. I think we must have been on the same cosmic wavelength last night because I was thinking the same thing as I watched. But your recap was wonderful even if, well, really, not much happened plot wise.
Seemed it was everyone being their usual selves. Fun times.
Isa was being a pain in the a** and manipulating Alicia. I would say poor girl except she knows she is going against her father and breaking rules. They are playing Pablo definitely as a young Johny, but not worth breaking the rules to sit on a couch with.
I do think Fer was clueless in showing Ana the baby pics. His lack of having a decent man friend to share news with shows a bit. But when it comes to Ana, he still isn't there in respecting her space or feelings as she tells him,it's still all about him. How many times do we have to hear Ana tell him she's not over how their past has gone. I know I'm tired of it...
Soooooooo....are we going to get a Leon/Laura hook up? Leon/Fanny may be end game, but maybe we are going to get a real screwy "dating other people" route to get there?
I wasn't a fan of Fanny giving Maricela the iPod. To her that seemed like a simple gift, and one of her sweaters probably costs the same, so it's no biggie. But that's a big deal to someone in that environment. (noticed the immediate looks from the others.) I totally get her intent, and it was sweet, but Lenin and Edith are right in that in a group home like that, showing favoritism to one person may mushroom to difficult requests to start doing the same for everyone. Part of her learning experience I guess.
Edith breaks my heart and I am so liking her character more every show.
Previews look interesting. Wrong of me to wish the whole dancing thing would just be revealed and be done?

Anonymous, no telenovela should ever be deemed as a kids show, that is true. But that's the way it was partly advertised, so that's where the name came from.
All telenovelas that were deemed as being mostly targeted towards the young audience had sex scenes, some more obvious than others.
Daisy, I missed the part with the i-pod, but I totally agree with you - that is not OK, to give a kid in that environment such an important gift, while the others just look on.
It looks to me like Fanny is just clueless about the world that she dived into and she should listen to some of teh advice, but also follow her good natured instincts once in a while.

Isabela sounded like a dog herself howling after getting bitten by Siete and growling at the end of the scene. She is planning on killing the dog. I wonder how.
It was interesting seeing Ana trying to react appropriately when Fernando shows her the photo of the baby from the ultrasound. I liked Ana presenting their relationship by the three "etapas" and that she has not forgotten what he did to her when he married Isabela.
Yolanda is sure showing that her patience with Isabela is running out. I hope we see a Yolanda gone rogue and out of Isabela's control doing exactly what she wants to.

Rat poison will be Isabloated's weapon or she wouldn't have needed to mention it. A building like that wouldn't have rats and I doubt she lives on the ground floor anyway.
There are definite boundary issues in this family and Fernando is particularly clueless about that because he has no male friends. This is not normal.

Great recap, Adriana! thanks for catching the 'Aqui hay Pablo encerrado!' line. probably the one memorable moment in it, other than Fer and Diego treating each other as siblings and Nico loving being able to watch it.

She has got pretty much everything she has wanted, so she does not know the concept of the practical value of things... i think a TV for the home or a game table or something they all could have enjoyed together would have been much better. I have volunteered for the Salvation Army Angel Tree project and have done the 'pick up' day. The only tough moment there is when a family has multiple kids that have asked for bikes and only one kid gets it and the other one doesn't... tough on the parent and it makes us all feel bad too. So if i pick up an angel tree card for a kid that wants a bike, I would like to make sure i could afford to buy them one.
this is the same type of situation. have to be even with kids that cannot have much or families that cannot afford everything the kids would want.

Tell that to the stupid producers! The fact is that there has apparently been no communication between the writers and the producer. Otherwise, there would be an adult dialogue and some truly adult sexual "action" would have kept us awake. The dance act, as some have said before, may be a bit "blue"/redlight district in its presentation, but truly it is nothing more than something you'd see in a circus act and no more than a preteen's version of what naughty sexuality mixed with some adult sensuality and romance must be--not necessariy is. The dialogue has been just this side of preteen and the humor is anything but adult--unless you frequent shows filled with toilet bowl humor like the ENDLESS whoopy cushions incidents we've suffered through ad nauseum ad infinitum that only double digit IQ's and poorly brought up grade-schoolers could/would appreciate. That's what we've been dealing with here and it's been for months now. Anybody Seb's age should be ashamed to be still watching this.

DaisynJay: ITA the kids should not be breaking the rules, but agaib this is going to be a learning situation for the two of them (and thus any kids who may still be up and watching this thing) about "truth OR consequences". It's something else IMNSHO that proves Adriana Noel's point that this is a kid's show and a pre-teen fantasy we're watching in prime time.

Thank you for the great recap. Can't decide which name for Isabela that I like the most.

How different this novela might have been at maybe 120 episodes! There would have been no need to eliminate the cute events with the kids, just a great opportunity to pick up the pace and get the big issues resolved.
It definitely looks like Fanny is headed toward getting Fernando to set up some kind of a foundation or redirect the activities of the existing one founded by Fanny, Sr. Still, the iPod for Marcela is a bad idea and just the kind of thing that we are all tempted to do when we encounter poverty and loss for the first time. Fairness to all victims within that context is both necessary and hard to achieve.

I completely agree about the gift. Fanny could easily have given them a TV set for the common room instead, but she still has much to learn about this stuff.
The actor playing Lenin has potential, but the kid playing Pablo? I am embarrassed for him. Alicia can do better and Isabrat is setting her up for a nasty fall.

To answer your question, because that's all they really know how to do. Yolanda has very little respect for other people and their boundaries and Isa has none at all. But since the wicked are hoisted on their own petards sooner or later, we can expect some creative Karmageddon for the two of them.

3. Have many silly antics that don't pertain to the plot at all

yes those sonogram pictures are in 3-D. and it has only been around a few years...
when my kids (17-21 yo now) were born the only sonogram pictures you got were like x-rays, bone structure alone.
the 3-D tech in sonograms is fairly recent.

I noticed that Nico's hospital gown fastens in the FRONT. Most hospital gowns that I've experienced in the US fasten with ties in the back. Are front-fastening gowns normal for Mexican hospitals?
I thought Nico was wearing a second gown backward over the typical back-opening gown for modesty purposes. I don't know.

I seem to recall Ana saying that the orphanage didn't exist any more. However if it was run by a religious order--as it seems to have been--that would surely be the place Ana could have left contact information. (Of course, that would have required logic and if she had done that we wouldn't have any story!)

Re Soledad speaking sideways: Many ex-cons supposedly gain a habit during incarceration of speaking out of the side of their face away from the guards. Might be just attention to deail on Soledad's character.
Re L and L: Laura just caught Leon at the perfect time just after he "caught" if you will, Fanny and Lenin. Leon is hurt and confused and vulnerable. Laura sees this opportunity.
Another view of Laura: She only seemed to start to show remorse when Reeky called her a whore and said he wasn't really interested right now.
I'm still not understanding Ana's telling Fer he didn't fight for their love. He chose Isa because she was pregnant and thought it was the right thing to do and not because he cared for her over Ana. And Ana accepted it because she didn't want to see the baby grow up in a broken home.

The actress herself might have had a stroke at one time. She was like that in AB before her character had her stroke.

Mi corazon es tuyo sections include Jorge Salinas, Silvia Navarro, Paulina Goto, the kids, Mayrín Villanueva, Carmen Salinas, René Casados and Pablo Montero.
Even though he is only featured for about 2 seconds, Rene Casados still somehow manages to out-ham everybody. If there was a fight and ham-acting was the weapon of choice, is there anybody you'd rather have on your side than Casados?
