TELEMUNDO Y MENOS: Reina de Corazones, Project Chapter a Day, Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 - 138 : Countdown to the Gran Fin.

[Episode 138 was originally aired in the U.S. on Nov. 26, 2014]

Photos below are, once again, courtesy of the wonderful Jean!

A whole lot of beaming going on...

Reina has just discovered that Christian is in league with BSC Estefi.  She doesn't get it.  Why?  Estefi beams an encouraging smile Christian's way as she rocks her Cabbage Patch Newborn.  "Tell her how her disgusting father also ruined your life.  Tell her."

"It's true," says Christian.  And it gives him so much pleasure to see Reina like this, reduced to nothing, ruined and at their mercy.

During this scene, Christian and Estefi can't seem to keep their hands off Reina.  One of them is always patting or stroking her head or hair, but the touch is intrusive and swings unpredictably from gentle to painful.  Now it's Estefi who starts patting and smoothing.  "You're both crazy," Reina cries.  [In this she is accurate, perhaps, but neither imaginative nor strategic.]

As long as we're talking -- how about putting in a good word with Connie for me?

Christian, however, is happy to tell her a little story that will explain everything.  "My father worked as a bodyguard for Estefi's father.  He tried to prevent a massacre and he paid for that with his life."

Moto returns to Navier and catches him trying to sit up.  She scolds him and reminds him he needs to rest!

Cobra beams adoringly at the little emperor in her arms.

I just bought him his first violin.

She couldn't be happier, she says.  But her eyes narrow when Victor tells her to set down Nerón so he can rest, and then opens the door and beckons to someone outside.  Now what?

Waiters carry in crystal candelabras, flowers, champagne, and a huge white teddy bear who has featured in so many telenovelas that his name should appear in the credits.  Like the magician that he is, Victor reaches behind Cobra's ear and pulls out a diamond ring.  "Would you like to marry me?"

Look what I found in my box of Crackerjacks!

A child?  Juanjo must be the happiest man on earth!
Connie babbles, Susana beams and even the corners of Laz's mouth turn up just a tiny bit.  Juanjo wants to get married right away and be part of the family he never had.  He'll be the best father in the world!

A little less beaming here...

"Your father was the cause of it all," Christian tells Reina, "and we have joined forces to make you pay."  He presses his gun against Reina's head.

Navier is making progress.  Now he is on his feet, walking with his IV pole.

You can't always get the winning ticket -- Look, I'll buy you a large fries myself!

Unfortunately his small triumph is blighted by Picasso's announcement: "Reina has disappeared." Navier wants to know everything.  Even though he hasn't recovered his memory, he feels that Reina is very important for him.  "She's not just important," Picasso corrects him. "She's your whole life."

Moto notices that Navier is having trouble catching his breath.  Is he feeling unwell?  Look at how much he's sweating.  Does he have a headache?

Navier hurries to the couch, sinking down on it before his legs give out.  "You shouldn't be having those symptoms," says Moto.

Navier can barely speak at this point, but he wants to talk about Reina's situation.  Is it possible that Estefanía, the woman who hates her so much, is involved in Reina's disappearance?  "That woman has my child," adds Navier, his eyes seeming to bug out of his head.

"That's not true," says PELS.  "The child is Victor's son.  The baby you and she had was stillborn." (Like that's supposed to make him feel better, PELS?)

While PELS is talking, Moto discovers the empty syringe under a sheet.  "You injected the drug?" she asks Navier in alarm.  "Don't you realize you could die?"

Esmeeth's apartment: Out of the Loop
"Patricio is no murderer," says Asunción.  "You don't know him," Esmeeth tells her.  "Patricio is capable of anything."  ORBO says she's making a very serious accusation.  Is she sure?  She is.  Washington handed down the order and PELS would never disobey (desacata) an order, even if it's to kill Navier.

ORBO sidles up to Esmeeth and tells her she can count on him.  If she wants him to kill Picasso, he'll do it.

A snake has a very small brain.  It's instincts are superb but it doesn't excel in learned behaviors.
Victor hands Cobra a glass of champagne.  He promises he will always give her what she needs, what she deserves -- clink -- and what she has never dreamed of.  Oh they are going to be happy.  Their home will be filled with their child's laughter.

L'Chaim -- that's Hebrew for "You actually believe this guy?"

"I love you," says the sentimental snake, gone wild on a wave of  postpartum hormones.

"Now I understand everything," Victor tells her.  He realizes that Cobra got close to López just to get Estefi's diamonds.

Cobra admits it.  She investigated Victor and knew that those diamonds were the only things he wanted.

Victor waxes philosophical -- Diamonds Shmiamonds!
Isn't life funny?  Now all he wants is his son and Alicia.

The momentary bubble of perfect happiness is popped like a zit when Victor gets an unwelcome message on the phone: Javier Bolívar is alive!

The Renegade CIA Team of Navier, Izzy, Moto and Picasso (NIMP) is Still Holed up in The Apartment

Must.  Find.  Reina.
The new drug must have had some effect.  Navier pulls out his IV and grabs a gun.  He can hardly stand up and he is breathing with great difficulty, but he insists he has to go find Reina.

Suddenly someone calls to them from outside the apartment:  "Is anything wrong?  I heard shouting and I got worried. There are a lot of police at the front door!"

We have to get him out of here! This is a real fire hazard!

Moto opens the door to check, and an armed man grabs her.  Fortunately, Navier has her back.  He shoots the attacker once.  When the man begins to stir, PELS finishes him off.  Then another guy shows his face at the end of the hall.  Izzy dispatches him with a single shot.  "They've infiltrated our security," PELS announces.  "We have to get out of here."

Let's Toast to Our Mad Crimes!
Estefi and Christian raise their champagne glasses -- clink -- and toast to Estefi's first encounter with Reina when she hired Reina's atelier to design her bridal gown.  "I was looking for you.  I knew very well who you were, Little Four Eyes!"

If they hadn't killed her, she'd be in jail for crimes against fashion or use of Spanglish as a deadly weapon.
"Let's toast to Carmen," says Christian, raising his glass. "The poor little thing had to die."

Flashback:  Carmen sits at the wheel of her new car and says (in English): "Help me please!"

"I'm so sorry -- may she rest in peace -- she was a great member of the team!"

Reina turns away and closes her eyes.  Christian keeps talking:

"... oh and that friend, that ally of yours, Frank Marino..."
Estefi and Christian giggle.  "He was so handsome," says Estefi girlishly.  Clink!

Flashback:  Marino at the train station.  Navier is down.  Marino is about to go for the kill shot, but someone else shoots him in the back.

"Let's toast for the morgue and Reina in the coffin," says Estefi merrily.  "For shooting up the taxi!"adds Christian, and "shooting up the shower!"

That was a mistake, says Estefi, because Navier was there with her.  It was Reina's fault he got shot.  If she had committed suicide like her father did, none of that would have happened.

Flashback to Pedro Ortiz, gagged and bound to a stretcher.  He is shown videos of Reina and told that if he doesn't kill himself, she's the one who will pay for all his crimes.

Estefi offers him one chance to protect Reina: He can take his own life.

The Belt and Suspenders School of Thought
Present-day Reina says that's not true.  Her father didn't kill himself.  The autopsy showed he had been murdered!  "Error" says Estefi.  "I dosed him with poison just in case he turned out to be too much of a coward to take his own life.  But guess what?  He wasn't!"

Flashback of Pedro Ortiz hanging from a crossbeam.

Present-day Estefi tells Reina that's another death she's accountable for.  He did it out of love for her.

Baiting the Bears Redux
Reina taunts Estefi for stealing Alicia's baby, Christian's own nephew.  Did he know that Estefi had done that?  And Reina knows what she's talking about -- she heard Victor's accusations.

From the look on his face, this is news to Christian.  Estefi pulls Reina's hair and tells her to shut up -- Christian isn't going to listen to her anyway.  He'll believe Estefi because he owes everything to her.

Flashback:  Estefi and Christian hand in hand, the latter in the khaki uniform of a humble police officer.  He talks about his dream -- imagine if he were Chief of Police of Las Vegas?  She can help make it a reality.  She has a client with important contacts in the police.

Do you have a license to carry that thing, big boy?

She and Christian are bonded for life by their parents' suffering.  She'll always be there to help him.  They kiss.

Present-day Christian says yes, he believes Estefi.  Estefi promises to tell him the whole story later, all about her baby who is in heaven.  Right now she has to go to say goodbye to him.

The Clock is Tripping on PHoo Juice
As for Reina, her time is running out.  Estefi forces her to look at clock on the wall.  The hands are spinning as crazily as her tormentors.  "That's the amount of life you have left."

We have to imagine the move, the strip-down, the electrodes...
Moto looks down at Navier where he lies nearly naked on a stretcher, electrodes on his chest, monitoring his heart.  "Do you remember me? she asks.  "It didn't work," he says, despairingly.

Hours spin by crazily.

Welcome to Las Vegas, Dude!  Now lose the plaid!
Navier suddenly sits up and gasps.  The past ten years of his life flash through his mind in a series of still images.

And then I was naked on a red pool table in front of a picture window...

"I remember everything!" he tells Moto.  "Welcome back, Bolívar!"

Navier has said goodbye to plaid.  He is in his CIA gray and black.  He remembers his team, he remembers the PHoo lab, he knows that Victor and Mauro were partners -- everything!

Rub-a-Dub-Dub
Estefi splashes a bucket of cold water on Reina.  She rubs her energetically with a wet washcloth.
Reina has to be clean when she gets to the afterlife, just like all the others who have betrayed her -- like, for example,  Montalban.  He started out on her side, but then chose Victor.  That's why he ended up as he did -- with his lips sewn closed.

Ah yes, I remember it well!
Navier remembers his time in the CIA and how he escaped, he remembers how Reina came looking for him and he didn't recognize her...  "Reina Ortiz has been missing for two days," PELS tells him.

We each have our special gifts.
"You're not the only seamstress, Reina, much less the best!"

Have I ever shown you kids my personal sewing kit?

Estefi takes out her little kit.  "Nobody sews lips like I do."

Here Comes the Snake
A string quartet plays the familiar strains of the Bridal March as Cobra descends the stairs in a long white gown.  Victor offers her his arm.  She always dreamed of this moment -- Victor, her brother Christian, and her son.  "Don't forget me," pipes up ORBO.  "You can call me dad."

Ever the Optimist
"I know it's hard," says PELS, "but it's likely that Reina is dead by now."  Izzy thinks so too.  Navier disagrees.  He feels she's alive, though she may not be for long.

I do hope you enjoyed the gift!  It was hand-stitched!
Now Reina is chained to a bed. "So you were the one who sewed Rocky's lips shut?"  Yes, she was.  Rocky discovered Estefi's secret so he couldn't be allowed to live.  She left his body in the atelier as a gift for Reina.   Did she like it?  Then Estefi returned to the scene to avoid arousing suspicion, but also for the pleasure of seeing Reina's face, and Connie's too.

"The man in The Little Shop of Horrors, and my uncle..."  Yes, agrees Estefi.  Everyone who betrays her ends up like that.

In this telenovela, even the drugs are aggressive.
Moto warns Navier that he's not out of the woods medically, even if he has recovered his memory.  Yes, he got the antidote in time, but the drugs he took were very aggressive.

Baiting the Bear Otra Vez
"What Navier did was brilliant, Estefi.  You ought to spend the rest of your life in a loony bin."

I'm the decider, Reina Ortiz!

Estefi clutches her Cabbage Patch baby and tells Reina she has no right to make decisions about her life.  On the other hand, Estefi can decide what will happen in Reina's life.

NIMP is on the move again!
"You're dead to the outside world," says PELS, "even to your own mother."

Navier is defiant.  "Whoever has Reina is going to find out that I'm alive!"

Navier heads out.  Moto, Izzy and, with reluctance, PELS, follow him to help him in his quest to rescue Reina.

A poisonous arachnid will have to suffice
Estefi is lugging an over-sized glass tank, a little gift for Reina. (Another one?  Oy.)  The moment to sew is approaching, she says, but first she has a scorpion -- like Navier -- for Reina.  She would have preferred a dragon, she explains, but a scorpion was the best she could do.

Estefi picks up the beast with her gloved hands and places it on Reina's body, just below her belt.  Ewwww!

Another Wedding -- This is starting to feel like a regular telenovela!
The newlyweds Juanjo and Susana return to the Leiva house to celebrate with Laz and Connie.  In the kitchen, Connie mentions to Laz that Moto and Picasso have been spending a lot of time together lately -- though that shouldn't bother him since he doesn't love her, right?

Have you noticed how attractive we are?

Back in the living room, Juanjo proposes a toast to his friends and to his new life.

That which doesn't kill you... will hurt like hell.
"I'm not afraid of you or that scorpion," says Reina.  "Even if it bites me, I'm not going to die."  But Estefi doesn't want her to die.  She wants her alive when she sutures her lips.  The scorpion is going to sting her and she'll feel a burning sensation in her whole body.  Her vision will get blurry, her heart rate will accelerate and her blood pressure will go through the roof.  Of course, if it stings her more than once, she's not sure...

Why is this day different from all other days?
The renegade NIMP team (Navier, Izzy, Moto and PELS) has made its way to the Doll Room.  Moto mentions that today is a special day for PELS -- it's the anniversary of his parents' death.  Navier's ears perk up.  "Today? Reina's father was murdered on this date too."  Coincidence?  Nuh uh.

You think she has the original stewardess Barbie?

Something catches Navier's eye on the floor.  He stoops down and picks up the silver cross.  "Reina was here."

Maybe this is why Victor and Izzy got along so well...
In the De Rosas Mansion, a Justice of the Peace (who is not wearing an Elvis suit, more's the pity) reads the wedding vows.  Alicia says her "I do" right on cue, but Victor, unsurprisingly, acts like a jerk.  "Can I think about it?" he asks.

You would have shot me, ¿verdad?

Mwa!

But before his bride can shoot him, he laughs.  Just kidding.  Of course "I do."  They kiss, they waltz, they are just normal folks -- well, very rich, very attractive normal folks -- until Esmeeth storms in and sticks her gun in Victor's back.

You promised me I'd be the cellist at your wedding!

"You had my son killed!" she says, "and I'm going to kill YOU, you bastard."

In the background, we see the string players beating a hasty retreat.

"Your son is alive," says Victor.  "Those fools [in the CIA] are all inept, including your lover.  Ask him -- or maybe you don't talk when you're screwing."   Esmeeth doesn't believe him.

I knew she was concealing a weapon in that gown!
"Before you kill my husband, you'll have to kill me first," says Alicia, pulling out a gun from God knows where.

Esmeeth's apartment: Eureka!
Navier does a computer search on an ordinary laptop.  Does Asunción know where the body of Reina's father was found?

I can't find it.  How do you spell Hoopiter again?

She remembers it was on Third Avenue, but she can't recall the house number.  That's enough information for a Dragon!  ¡La encontré! I found her!

Navier gives Clarita a quick kiss and runs out the door.  Asunción tells her it's going to be okay.  He went to get mommy.

Hurry up, Dragon!
Reina grimaces.  "Perfecto," says Estefi merrily.  "Our friend the scorpion is finished."  She picks up the beast and puts it back in the glass tank.  "Does it hurt, Reina?"  YES!  "Perfecto.  Because your mouth is going to hurt even more when I sew your lips together!"

Don't drink the water (or the coffee or the tea or the cognac...)
Esmeeth keeps her gun aimed at Victor.  "Don't lie to me," she says. Cobra stands behind Victor and aims her weapon at Esmeeth.  Christian assumes the role of reason.  He begs Esmeeth to lower her weapon and not do something she will regret.

Esmeeth allows herself to be persuaded.  Then ORBO presses a glass into her hand and urges her to try to calm herself.  "I want answers!" she says...

This is really good.  And you just use a Brita filter?

OH NOOOOO!  Esmeeth! DON'T DRINK THAT!

Sadly, she doesn't hear us or chooses to ignore us.  She sips the contents of the glass while Victor begs her not to blemish the happiness of the occasion by talking about death.  "Is Navier really alive?" she asks quietly.  "He is," confirms Victor.  "In fact, I'm starting to think your son is immortal."  Esmeeth drains the contents of the glass.

Whose Side Are You On?
Room of Screens, the IMPS of team NIMP have found the location where Estefi holds Reina captive.  Izzy is ready to rumble but PELS wants to go there by himself.  Moto, however, overrules him.  "You're not going anywhere.  This is your story.  They were your parents.  It's your sister and your family.  And it's not completely clear to me if this is also your vengeance."

This is the way we sew your lips, sew your lips, sew your lips♪♪
Estefi sits astride Reina, carefully threads her suture hook and pierces Reina's lip as she tries to make the first stitch.  Reina screams out in pain, upsetting Estefi.

"Be quiet!" she shrieks, grabbing Reina's head and shaking it.  "Do you want your friend to say I'm a bad seamstress?"

A stream of bright red blood drips from Reina's lip where the needle wounded her.

Estefi prepares to begin again.  But before she can do any more harm, Navier, now at the top of the stairs, shoots her in the hand.

Sometimes you make me so mad!

He hurries down and warns her that reinforcements are on the way.  She'd better take it easy now -- the next shot will be in her head.

Estefi sobs her usual self-pitying sobs.  "Why did you have to show up, Javier?"  Meanwhile Navier takes his turn smoothing Reina's hair and reassuring her.

"It's always for Reina! Everything is always for her!" wails Estefi.

Reina warns Navier that Estefi isn't alone.  "What seems to have happened is that... "  Before Reina can finish her thought, Estefi lunges at the lovers with a huge knife.  Navier quickly overpowers her and disarms her.

The Study -- Is there anyone Christian hasn't double-crossed?
Victor takes a pull from his flask.  He thanks Christian for saving his life.  "Maybe deep down, I'm really fond of you," answers Christian as he sips from his glass of amber liquid.  Victor acknowledges he may feel the same way.  He was going to kill Christian, he says.  He found out some pretty serious things about him -- not just the Camila thing.  He found some false documents among his father's papers, documents that Christian had signed.  "You signed my mother's death certificate.  You always knew my father had killed my mother."

"When did you find out?" asks Christian.  "And how?"

How Christian Met Estefi
It wasn't long ago.  Victor had him investigated -- and he found out about Christian's father's role in Estefi's family and how he died trying to protect Gregorio Pérez.

That was a bond he shared with Estefi -- that and later, a sexual relationship.

Christian stopped seeing Estefi after Victor stole her baby.  Christian always knew about that and kept it quiet.

Christian saw Estefi again after Artemio Hidalgo died.

Victor pauses in the story.  "Do I have it right or am I mistaken?"  Christian coolly assures him that everything he has said is true...  although he has a question of his own (aunque me queda una duda):  "You killed Artemio Hidalgo, right?"

Victor looks amused at the question.  Before he can answer, however, ORBO walks in and says he has to talk to him.  Victor steps out of the study with ORBO while Cobra joins her brother.  "A sad ending for a wedding, don't you think?"  (Though she looks anything but sad as she says it.)  Christian kisses her hand and tells her that her life is just beginning.  But now he has to go.

Alicia notices how nervous he seems and asks him what is happening.   He explains:  "Estefanía should have killed Reina by now.  If I haven't heard from her, it's because something went wrong.  I need to leave -- I need to escape."

Or something went right -- depending on your perspective:
Izzy and another agent are leading noisy Estefi away. (¡Maldito cerdo desgraciado!  You're going to wish you had never been born!)  Navier comforts Reina.  She doesn't understand why Izzy is there.  "He's one of us now," Navier explains.  He confides that he is worried about Esmeeth.  He can't reach her.  He tried calling Laz and the line was busy.

Juanjo talks to someone on the phone:  "I understand.  So I'm your last option."

And now we see that Navier is the caller:  "I found Reina.  I have a lot of things to do.  I can't ask the CIA people because I don't trust them.  You're the only I trust, amigo."

"Just tell me what you want me to do."  As Juanjo is saying this, his new bride vamps in and tosses her peignoir at him seductively.  "I need you to come here," Navier tells him.  I'll give you the address."

Can I get a raincheck?

Juanjo writes it down, brushes Susana's lips with his own and hurries out.  Perdón cielo.

Navier gently tends to Reina's wounded lip.

Reina tells him what she knows:

"Christian is with Estefi.  So is my brother Picasso.  The three of them have made my life impossible all this time.  It's all because of what my father did to them.

"That lunatic is the one who sewed her victims' lips.  She was going to do that to me, but you got here in time and saved me."

Navier strokes Reina's hair (which, frankly, could use a little Garnier at this point) and tells her that it's all over.

Watch the blood, okay?  I just got this shirt.

Estefi won't hurt her anymore.  He'll take care of her -- her lip -- and her heart as well.  He promises.  They embrace.

Juanjo bounces down the stairs smiling, still wearing the suit from his wedding.  ¡Hermano!, he says in greeting.  Navier shakes his hand.  He tells Juanjo he needs him to take care of Reina.  No one knows where Esmeeth is and Estefanía is in custody.  They have to find Christian -- he's her accomplice!

Juanjo is stunned.  Christian?  Navier tells him to be very careful.  At this point, anybody could be the enemy.

Juanjo hugs Reina and then tells Navier to congratulate him -- he and Susana got married today!  "I called you on your wedding night?"  He did, but it's okay.  Navier can always count of Juanjo.

Really?  You'll buy the rest of the damn raffles?  Whew!

Navier kisses Reina on the brow, and tells entrusts her to Juanjo.  He grabs his gun and leaves.

Reina leans against Juanjo's chest.  Safe at last.

There's always time for love... in the CIA lab.
Laz is also still wearing a suit from the wedding.  He approaches Moto as she hunches over a laptop, obviously concentrating on something important.  She dismisses him.  She's very busy and she's in the middle of an operation. "With Picasso?" asks Laz.  "Something like that," she answers.  "Is there a problem with Agatha?"  No.  In that case, he can leave and they'll talk tomorrow.

Laz takes her arm.  This can't wait until tomorrow.  "I want to stay with you... for the rest of my life.   I love you."

Love Amid the Biohazards

He kisses her.  She takes off her jacket and begins to loosen his tie.  Let's hope they locked the door...

We told you not to drink that, Esmeeth!
Esmeeth comes to and finds herself in ORBO's bed.  Her hands and feet are bound with rope.  ORBO peers out from behind his easel.  "Sleeping Beauty is awake!"  "What is this?" asks Esmeeth.  He shushes her.  "Don't break my concentration."

Do you think the Groucho glasses add the right touch of whimsy?

"Octavio, what is this craziness?  Untie me, Octavio!  Set me free!"

Victor strolls in, no longer wearing his wedding finery.  He is back in basic black.  "Octavio can't set you free because you're my hostage (rehen)."  Then he rethinks it.  "That doesn't sound good.  Let's say instead that you are my guest of honor (mi invitado de honor, mi huesped) and -- why not? -- my bait (mi señuelo), because you are the one who will bring my brother here.

"How ironic!  She came her to avenge my brother's death and she's going to end up taking him directly to his coffin."

CIA Interrogation Room
The Human Lie Detector -- the Ultimate Test
"I should kill you, Picasso!" says Navier.  "I'm telling you the truth, damn it," replies PELS.  "You can recognize when someone is lying!"

"Yes," retorts Navier, "but you're trained to lie.

"Look me in the eye.  I'm telling you the truth."

"Christian was the son of Estefi's father's bodyguard.  Reina told me that Estefi had a brother who was helping her, her younger brother."

PELS pauses and repeats:  "Her younger brother?"  Izzy and Navier stare at him.  PELS continues:  "My father had another son with the nanny, a child he never acknowledged.  I never had contact with him, but when I found Estefanía, she told me she had been looking for him but she hadn't found him."

"What was his name?"

"I don't know... uh... he had a nickname -- I think it was Chiche."

Navier repeats the name as if it rings a bell with him.  Chiche?

You're in good hands... or maybe not!
Juanjo leads Reina into a beautiful new house.   He assures her she'll be safe here.  Navier put her in his hands...

Reina notices a photo of a middle-aged woman surrounded by religious statuary and lit candles.  It is, in effect, an altar.

"...in the hands of your killer," says Juanjo.

Dame Agatha would have approved!

Reina turns and smiles, thinking it is a joke.  But when she sees the murderous expression on Juanjo's face, her smile fades.

The story continues tomorrow...

And that's all, folks! Jean and Mauricio will be bringing this baby in for a landing in the next two days. This has been an absolute blast. I'm so glad we had a chance to enjoy this together!

Until the next time!

NovelaMaven--You deserve EVERY inch of the front page, but I fear you will have some disgruntled others in the mix. Can you put in a "Read More" page break somewhere after a few of those stunning photos?

More tomorrow.

oops. lo siento. ¡Ya está todo arreglado!

NovelaMaven – thank you for the recap, the snark, the the laughs. Thank you for ALL your recaps, the hours, the labor, the snark, and the comedy on this fun adventure ride!

The screen caps! OMG roflol!
”As long as we're talking -- how about putting in a good word with Connie for me?”
”You think she has the original stewardess Barbie?”
”Love Amid the Biohazards”

And the section titles!
”If they hadn't killed her(Carmen), she'd be in jail for crimes against fashion or use of Spanglish as a deadly weapon.
”I do hope you enjoyed the gift! It was hand-stitched!”
”♪This is the way we sew your lips, sew your lips, sew your lips♪♪”

Estefy stole the show in this episode with her awesome BSC. Squee! Siachoque must have had a blast doing these scenes.
I was laughing throughout, especially over the fake-baby doll.

Placing that doll standing up with hands on the footboard of the bed, as if watching the Stefy & Reina show, was a complete hoot. (I was hoping for a screen cap of that)

VAYA!!! So now we know who Stefy's "hermanito" is and why Susana could not find any of Juanjo's family anywhere in Mexico or the U.S. or the planet.

Oh good grief, and Juanjo was one of my favorite characters! Estoy desilusionado.... que pena.

Are they're still airing the show on Telemundo or do we have to go online on the website?

NovelaMaven,

Oh how you make me wish that I were watching this rather than the two Univision dogs I am currently watching. Your photos and captions (something I have appreciation for and a bit of experience with) are absolutely wicked and hilarious. I so admire your wit and talent. I miss exchanging barbs and zings with you.

Carlos

I finally caught up with yesterdays recap and posted something there, but it bears repeating: BWAHAHAHAHA!

Nice work! But the show writers might be as BSC as the characters.

Kelly

Doris, I'm embarrassed to say I don't recall the scene you describe. I'll have to look for it! Thanks so much for the kind words.

So yes, now we know why the detective couldn't find any Garcias. The writers had plenty of fun with that. (Remember Connie running her mouth about Susana's pregnancy, talking about how many Garcias there already were in the world?) And yeah, they got us good with that one!

Kelly, bwhahahahaha is always the operative word around here. :)

Steve B, the show ended on Dec. 1. You can find most of these episodes on YouTube and the final four episodes are probably somewhere on the Telemundo website, though they will be numbered differently.

My Dear Carlos,

Thank you so much! I am so delighted to see you here! I've missed my favorite sparring partner on the blog! It would have been wonderful to have you with us for the course of this zany show.

At the moment, I just can't bring myself to watch anything on Univision (or on Telemundo, for that matter). I think it's time for me to catch up on my reading.

Hoping to trade barbs and zings very soon,

Love,

Okay, so the first link works~! Note the jaunty bent knee on the doll. The crew was probably cracking up and having a blast with this episode.

Doris, it's a great shot but it's got some junk attached. I had put it in the blog and then I had to take it down because it was messing me up.

I'm so sorry, but I'm going to have to delete the link.

Doris,

Take a look at the recap section "We each have our own special gifts."

It's a shot Jean sent us. I hope you like it!

NovelaMaven - no apologies necessary for removing my photo bucket links. I'll check the special gifts section when I'm on my desktop. This iPad does not play nice with RSS feed links on the left sidebar here.

NM - I don't see a "special gifts" section. I am missing something . . .

Doris: the picture has been but into the recap at the appropriate point where Estefi shows Reina her sewing kit. NovelaMaven's title for that section was - We each have our special gifts.

Oh, thank you Jean! I'm off caffeine, so my brain hasn't kicked in. THAT is a much better photo than the one I got on my iPad!
Isn't it a scream? The crew was having fun.

I'm SOOO disappointed about Juanjo :( He was one of the only characters I've always liked. Looks like Susanna has about the same luck choosing men as does Asuncion.

Is that who Stefania was always crooning to on the phone, her hermanitoooooo? Didn't she shoot him when they were all in the loony bin?

~ Clarita's Pencilcase.

Et tu, Juanjo?
Clarita'sPencilcase - yes, he must be who she has been crooning "hermanito" to, and yes, Estefy shot him at the manicomio but she. did. not. kill. him. That was a clue but we didn't recognize it!!!

I believe Estefy would shoot her own grandmother, if it served her purpose in any moment.

Juanjo and Susana never had a theme song, like Reina/Javier and Connie/Izzy, and that always bothered me. I always felt it was a clue that they'd never get together in the end, but the writers never gave us any other hints until this past week when Susana couldn't find any family of Juanjo's. And we didn't think anything of it.

I must say that Juanjo's haircut has looked a bit different in the past week. While a change of hairstyle signals a change in a character's life, it was a subtle change so I didn't give it more than a passing thought.
My bad. Oops.

Looks like Susana will be a single parent.
And I am finding this last-minute plot twist to be rather bizarre and unbelievable, but that's telenovelaland for you.

Agreed. Preposterous. And what of the red diamonds? The red diamonds were red herrings?? (maybe another cute Agatha Christie joke..?)
And what of Greta? Is she fully recovered physically, living a life somewhere where she knows no-one, getting away with murder (literally)?
Remember 'Soap?' Confused? You wil be!

Clarita's Pencil-case

I think the real clue was not that Juanjo didn't have any family but that he LIED about it and pretended that he did have a big family. I didn't really notice a hair change but now that I think of it, the lack of a song, especially when Izzy and Connie had one, was telling.

Don't worry folks - the red diamonds will return. Stay tuned for our next exciting episode later today!!!

I have to say that the writers are doing a pretty good job of trying to tie up all the loose ends.

Clarita's Pencil-case - Oh my goodness, I had forgotten all about "Soap." LOL!!! One of my most very favorite movies is "Soapdish". BwaHahahahaaa!

In spite of the eye-rolling this week, I have to say that I have been completely entertained by this telenovela. Even the locura of this week is entertaining. No boring episodes. Lots of surprises. Lots of nods to famous works of art and movies. Sufficient shirtless scenes of our Dragon. What a fun ride!

It's rare when the Patio of Lowered Expectations here at Caray! is empty, but the Reina table hasn't had a single customer through the entire run.

Nothing else currently appeals to me on Tijeramundo and Looneyvision, so I'm going to wait and see what Looneyland offers when their current crop of telenovelas is over. Until then, I'll be reading books during the dry spell.

Just had a thought...maybe Juanjo always wore socks during sex to hide his cloven hooves?.
RdC has been my first ever foray into them prod of telenovelas (I just stared learning Spanish last year)... I fear it has spoiled me greatly! Any recommendations on what to watch next?
I hate the hatchet job Telemundo has done on this. I'm so glad I found this website and its smart, funny recappers. Y'all are great! Gracias!

~ Clarita's Pencil-case

Edit: my first ever foray into the world of telenovelas!
QTH autocorrect?!

OMG--As Tracy, from our beloved most hated tn since FELS, would say....NovelaMaven what a send off you have set us up for (yeah, I know prepositions at the end of sentences still bother me, but what the hey, it IS the END).

A few more twists and turns and plenty of verbal action from Jean & Mauricio to bring down the final curtain. I want to say I can't wait, but that means one episode closer to a dark house.

What a run this has been. Kudos to all the recappers for making this telenovela even more entertaining than we thought possible. Kudos to readers and commenters alike for propelling everyone forward and, of course, SHAME on Teletijeras for ruining an outstanding obra.

I will have a final Body Count after El Final and a Wisdom Wrap-up, so stay tuned.

"...maybe Juanjo always wore socks during sex to hide his cloven hooves?."

I think your theory is great! LOL

Thanks NovelaMaven for all your great work, recaps, & humor! Your recaps are always fun to read & will miss them.

Clarita'sPencilCase, I'm loving your theory too, it totally makes sense! & I thought that Susana had the bigger issues in that relationship.

Ayy Juanjo! You hid your craziness so well. I wonder if the writers always planned for this, or they had to make quick changes.

I'm glad that Laz came to his senses and returned Moto's affection. But I wonder if we'll know whatever will happen to Greta.

Don't snakes sleep with their eyes open?? Because la Cobra needs to keep her's wide open. Victor you have an awful sense of humor.

Gonna miss this madness when it ends!

Oh, and the picture with the doll watching the Stefy & Reina show...Hilarious!

Clarita's pencilcase,
It's so great that you could be with us on your maiden voyage into looneyland.

"I fear it has spoiled me greatly!"

And I fear you are right! Still, there is a link on the main page to someone's list of what other people cited as their favorite novelas. (My personal favorites hardly register on the list, but then I tend to be kind of quirky so don't pay any attention to me.)

And do bear in mind, my dear Clarita's pencilcase, that the fat lady has not yet sung!

hehehe

jlk,

You can thank Doris and Jean for the doll watching the Reina and Stefi show. I agree it was fabulous -- in fact, I think it tells you exactly what kind of novela this has been.

I'm really happy that you've been enjoying my recaps and that you've taken a moment to let me know. Something may come along in the future that inspires me again -- you can never tell.

I'm also glad that Laz has come to his senses about his feelings for Moto. They do seem to be made for each other.

As for Juanjo, I'd like to believe that the writers had that particular ace up their sleeves right from the start. He is really the only character whom we never had reason to doubt. I love that we all got snookered by him! It was very Agatha Christie!

NovelaMaven -- Marvelous recap! Thanks!

Your recaps have been a joy to read. Thanks so much for all the work you have put into them,

I can't believe we have two more episodes left before the finale. It will be sad to see this one go.

Christian being Estefy's accomplice did not shock me as much as Juanjo turning out to be Estefy's brother and playing a part in the revenge too. I never once suspected him. This novela does not disappoint when it comes to twist and turns.

Can't wait until the next episode to see what will happen next.

Is capítulo #140 the final episode? If so, will Thursday be the Gran Fin? Mauricio's site goes to 140 but some YouTube channels have a #141.

Doris,
Yes, tomorrow Mauricio recaps the final episode, 140. I'm not sure why some people are putting up 141, but it is what we are calling 140.

So tonight Jean does 139 and tomorrow Mauricio finishes with 140.

Mauricio, thanks! Back at ya!

oh NovelaMaven,

I just know that from now on, every wedding that I go to,
when the wedding march starts, I will be singing along,

"here comes the snake"

"all dressed in white"...

(this can't be good)

tee hee deb! It's fine to confide those things to us, but it's probably better not to tell anyone else :D

Wow! NovelaMaven, that recap was a bigger gem than the four red diamonds combined!

I so appreciate you, Jean, and Mauricio giving us the "whole story".

I was gobsmacked when Juanjo was revealed as a baddie. He was one of my favorite characters in the novela. The writers always portrayed him as kind, loyal to Navier, and with some very funny lines as well.

Loved "a sewing we will go".

Deb, you cracked me up! I could just see you singing, in a very low voice, Here Comes the Snake, at the next wedding you attend.

I haven't been able to get into anything else. I have a TON of Los Miserables recorded but can't get in the mood to watch them.

My current fave on English TV is The Affair with Dominic West, a very sexy man indeed.

I hate to give up the good company here, but there isn't any novela that excites me.

I'll probably watch the Kate del Castillo one, even though it looks like a narconovela. I could watch Kate paint a fence. I think that will be after Señora Acero.

And, even if I start watching Los Mis, I'm too far behind to look at the comments on the other Telemundo page.

Miss you guys!!!

Novelera,

I'm glad you stopped by. I've been kind of worried about you with the wild weather you've been having. I guess this means you still have power, right?

Thanks so much for the nice words. You know your opinion means a lot to me.

I'm afraid I've given up on Los Mis. I had no time to watch it while we were hunkered down doing these insane Reina recaps. When I finally looked at it again, I realized I didn't care about any of those people, so I decided not to go back.

Stay warm and dry! I'm sure something else will catch our attention and we'll be back here chatting again, whether it's Kate's shoot-em-up or something else (I'm hoping something else!)
