Hola Amigas y Amigos

LOS MIZ:
I'm fed up with this ridiculous plot. Daniel can NEVER be forgiven for his horrific betrayal of Lucia and so here he is hugging her all night long as she lies comatose in the hospital bed. So why does he even want her alive if he's still convinced she's guilty? I am so not getting this and the suspension of disbelief is gnawing away at my interest in this saga. If they reconcile at the end of this, I give up. They have a chance for this prota to walk away in triumph, leaving that creep to rot in his own remorse.

Adri & the bozo Abel persist in the myth of the nieto de sangre for bedridden Ignacio who still rejects the idea of getting a new heart. Fernanda does what she does best: handwringing.

Seems as though Roxi is starting to verbalize in her attempt to communicate basic needs with Memin. I guess if it's urgent enough...once the girl starts talking... (I actually like this storyline)

Not sure I like the idea of el diablo with the gleaming sneer cozying up to our innocent young super-heroes. So sick of kids getting caught in the crossfire. But I have faith in Super-Memín!

Chelo's taxi-driver sweetheart shows up with a bouquet and the news that he was out of town arranging his divorce. "You were married??" Chelo, rather disgracefully, IMO, throws back the bouquet and kicks him out. My feeling is he'll be back.

And Deb's gettin' outta Dodge, with (it appears) the deeds to ALL the ranches. Octavio realizes they will all be homeless. He & Vicky are still not talking, but he's taking an unhealthy proprietary interest in her health issues. None of your beeswax, boyfriend!

And Pablo gets sprung due to A) the bottle found by Elena and B) Deborah's good bye note in which she fesses up, with the rationalization that it was deserved cuz Radames was such a bad pa.

Lucha survives her crisis (caused by being hosed down with high-power ice water by malicious guards in the pay of Liliana (why antibiotics were the treatment for this eludes me)). Lil gets the news. "No puede ser!" And she makes it clear to malicious guard lady that all blame will fall on her. So she better just finish up the job right. Last scene of the night shows M.G.L. attacking the bed-ridden Lucha with a baton.

Oh, and Anselmo makes a visit to the women's prison to provide fiduciary incentive (deftly tucked beneath his fine white hat as he places it on the table in the visitor's room) to the head convict to act as protector to Lucia. "You've heard of Olegario Marrero?" Head convict gives a sidewards glance. But, will she be too late? And, who's got more power: Diablo Marrero or diabla Duran?

Los Miserables
Just getting around to watching my tapes of the last few eps...
1. The longer this goes on, the less impressed I am with Daniel as a galan. You don't get to cry over Lucia possibly dying when it's YOUR fault she's in this situation in the first place! He's been consistently pigheaded, small-minded, and incredibly cruel towards someone he claims to have loved. The fact that he keeps getting lost and falling into Liliana's arms (and other parts of her) isn't helping either. It's almost enough to make me root for Diablo to win her over. HE, at least, has been consistently helpful and respectful to Lucha.
2. Am surprised things are being resolved so quickly with the "Who injured Radames?" subplot. Though as remorseful as Deborah appears to be, I wonder if things will change now that Radames knows she did it.

Los Mis
I can't see this due to MCET & Telemundo is not cooperating. What happened to Lucha?

Daniel is an ass but Diablo is only caring until his goals are reached, then he is an SOB, meaning he would treat Lucia like crap after winning her over, which of course, wont happen.

Sra Acero, same problem, Telemundo. I can't seem to stay awake long enough to watch this to the end.

Tierra
Almost as dumb as FELS. I know what happened to Samuel, but what happened to Leonardo?

Thanks, NovelaMaven!

LOS MIZ parte uno

@Rain—I completely agree with your assessment of the pig-headed Daniel. So now he's starting to doubt his earlier judgement! Well, too little too late chump. I had hoped Lucha would stand strong against this fickle brute, but N-o-o-o; she kisses right back. I had to close my eyes. This is the heroine we've been rooting for all these months? Forget about it. But, I'm still gonna hang in til the bitter end and right now it seems pretty bitter.

So Lucha recovers from the pulmonary infection that resulted from freezing water torture by the paid guards. Her newly-appointed guardian angel (the Head-Convict-in-the-Pay-of-El Diablo) intervenes in the Malicious-Guard-Lady-in-the-Pay-of-Liliana's attempt to strangle her and not only that, she records the whole thing on her cell phone AND extracts a confession of who's behind the plot. So now Lucha is in the know and has the proof. Which she shares with the Disbelieving-Until-She-Saw-the-Evidence-Warden. [interesting how often the word lucha is used in the script-in the sense of struggle or fight; and also miserable.]

Don Ignacio, in a weak, but stable condition based largely on lies from Abel et al, gets sprung from his hospital bed, and while being congratulated on his release, Sor Milagros manages to insert foot firmly in mouth by spilling the beans about Lucha's situation. Of course, Iggy can't just go home & rest now. He's got to run off the the prison in person! Well, they grudgingly let the whole family troop in, but for 10 minutes only! This is a boring scene which I've mostly forgotten...NEXT! (she didn't blab about Lil, did she?) Anyway prison matron breaks up the family schmooze.

The kiddies are munching on treats gracias à El Diablo. He showers them with oversize caricatures of gifts and I think he hands Memin some folding money with the instructions to go get himself a hotel room and clean up a little. Or did I misunderstand that? I mean what hotel is going to accept a couple of underage street urchins as customers? In any event, the kids are now under the supervision of Olegario Marrero, who is hell-bent on getting back his Santa. I don't know if he's plotting to use the kids as bait, yet. Because I think he's delusional enough to believe his Santa will come willingly.

Pablo tries and tries to get back into Elena's orbit but she's busy tiptoeing lightly around her mentally deranged faraon. Sort of fearful, but in amazement at the complete personality transplant he got from that bonk in the cabeza, she sorta, kinda wants to believe in all the romantic gooey talk he's spouting; of course with the ultimate result of having to take this goofy tango to the marital bed. She fantasizes very cautiously (like every thing else she does) but it only brings her back to the brutal realities she knows so well from hard experience. She breaks up their little interlude after a particularly violent flashback and skips out on the befuddled Rad.

Some momentary snit when Abel runs into cute gay doc (what's his name?) As always Abel acts like a sneery little sh*t and the doc remains calm & tries to be non-judegmental. I think we all know where this is going to end up.

Anselmo gets the word to Head-Convict-Lady-in-the-Pay-of-El Diablo and instructs her to tell Lucia that she's about to be sprung from the joint by none other than her protector El Diablo. Lucia's eyes widen at the realization that she is mos def entre la espada y la pared. She defiantly spits out her repudiation of this odious rescuer and Head-Convict-Lady kind of shrugs "You know, whatevah.." I mean, they don't get more powerful than that guy and who are you to refuse?

LOS MIZ parte dos

Octavio, who is sort of on the verge of a nervous breakdown these days, is busily punching out some classmate in the schoolyard. Vicky vociferates, but then beats a hasty retreat to go puke (again) in the lavatory. Her digestive disorder is not lost on Octavio who forces a confession in front of other girl classmates who sneer. Poor Vicky takes her tale of woe to wise old Chelo who's been around the same block already and from whom she gets no sympathy. "He is the father of your child and children need both parents" She concedes that perhaps both parents don't need to be together, but nonetheless. Vicky is going to have to grow up and be a big girl.

Dan & Pablo are back on terms now with lotsa bro-hugs in the station house. But he stands firm in the belief that Lucia is a criminal, so how could he ever love her? This part is SO ANNOYING! I mean it's more than suspension of disbelief. I feel toyed with by these script writers. Abused, even. Anyhoo, Daniel, at some point and for some reason I can't now recall is beginning to doubt the case against Lucia. I'm already tearing my hair out at the notion that she might actually take him back. I want to see him eat the biggest crow!

I'm sure I'm missing a bunch, but the whole thing comes to an improbable conclusion when El Diablo shows up at the prision dressed in the robes of a priest. And they let him in — no questions asked. He's a priest, right? This doesn't bode well for anybody.

Oh, and also, Nuria makes another appearance and I'm not sure what's up with that story line. Somebody else can fill in if they remember.

That's all I remember. I hope there are still a few watchers out there. I'm trying to keep up.

IXV, thank you for the recap. I'm definitely still watching
and actually enjoying it even without speaking Spanish.
Hasn't anyone ever told Memin and Roxy not to accept gifts from strangers much less not to go into motels with
them? I really like them by the way. I can't wait for Lily
to get hers. Anon Gringa

Thanks for chiming in AnonGringa! Glad to hear from other "victims" out there. I actually love this novela too, despite my complaints. But I have a sinking feeling we'll be in for a bit of a letdown when all the dues must be paid before el gran final.

I'm sticking with it because I have made it part of my Spanish studies.
Right now Anselmo is the most likable character! Maybe he and El Diablo will get together in the end. lol
@Ixv
Nuria's appearance was to get info about El Diablo's plan to spring Lucia from prison and pass that info on to Lilliana.
We're in for another love and hate round with Daniel and Lucia.

LOS MIZ
Thanks anonymous. I'm sure we've got other MIZ lurkers out there, so it's good to get the conversation going. Thanks for the input re: Nuria's involvement. I figured some such, but couldn't describe it accurately. If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll post some of what I remember, but right now it's off to bed with me.

LOS MIZ
I'm not looking forward to the Daniel/Lucia roller coaster. In my book, he's irreedemable no matter what he does. He's just too unstable to be a loving partner. He goes off psycho at the drop of a hat. No better than Radames.

Hola NovelaMaven. Thank you for the new page. I hope you, too, are staying warm.

Los Mis

Recaps! And excellent and detailed recaps, at that! Thank you so much, lxv! You fill in many of the gaps I have in following.

Another "victim" here, lol. I share your reaction to the increasingly hard "suspension of disbelief," but this, as well: "I actually love this novela too, despite my complaints." I am, simply, hooked. Hissing at Daniel, often, growling at Lily, often, and crying out for logic to the writers, I still must see it to the end!

"[Daniel] He's just too unstable to be a loving partner. He goes off psycho at the drop of a hat. No better than Radames." You know, I thought the same thing when he grabbed Lucha and wouldn't let her go, at the prison, and was viciously hateful again, after being soooo (supposedly) sorrowful when she seemed dying.

I wonder if Roxy teaching Memin to read, her being willing to sound out letters for him, is her way of getting used to having a voice again.

Remember when Roxanita was playing charades with - is he called Iggy? - Helena's son back in the early episode? I am wondering if their success at silent communication will later come into the Roxy not talking story.

Yes, Rain! "[Daniel] He's been consistently pigheaded, small-minded, and incredibly cruel towards someone he claims to have loved. The fact that he keeps getting lost and falling into Liliana's arms (and other parts of her) isn't helping either." And then for him to be SO self-righteous!

Yes, I feel that too, Anon Gringa! "Hasn't anyone ever told Memin and Roxy not to accept gifts from strangers much less not to go into motels with
them?" Watching, though, I was thinking they were street urchins, so maybe the idea of "strangers" become too unclear for them.

I think you might be right, Anonymous, Wed 10:38:00 PM: "Right now Anselmo is the most likable character!" Sad state when that is true, ah? Though, really, I love Deyanira, Sor Milagro, Carlos and Vicky. I just wish they let Lucha be as good a character, and as strong, as Aracely Arámbula's acting would allow her to be.

I wish you all warmth.

Tierra
I just watched an episode from a few days ago where the cop takes the lady reporter home with him. That apartment looks a lot like Navier's and later Dra Moto's in Reina especially with the short couch which wasthe scene of much uncomfortable-looking lovemaking.

the Miserables

wow, thanks so much lxv for the recap, that's nice.
and thanks to all for you comments!

I'm actually a bit fascinated watching the tormented Daniel (Erik Hayser does this so well) and yes, he is the one that will need a Santa to pull him out of that swamp.

not so impressed with Radamés who is on the road to redemption with the "why don't we all just forget about the past" thingy.

had to smile at at the two old wise guys, Pablo and Daniel, congratulating young Octavio for being a father, when neither of them have done that.

love watching Olegario, who is not into any of this emotional/moral stuff, but makes up his own rules, and did they ever say what happened to his brother?

interesting to watch Daniel's face as that attorney laid down the law with his constant flip, flopping, and I guess Olegario had to step up his plans to rescue Lucha before her appeal so that he would be her savior.

I'm a pretty forgiving person, but even to me ,without an
amazing feat of heroism, sadly Daniel is beyond the point of no return. AnonGringa

LOS MIZ
AnonGringa: you're more forgiving than I and at this point, Daniel has proven that it's more than jealousy & betrayal. I truly believe he is pathological and I can forgive mental illness, but if Lucha thinks she can hitch her wagon to a clinically unstable psycho, then she's in for a rough ride. That's my gripe with this plot. Unless she walks strong and free into her own future, I will be terribly disappointed. I don't think anything can turn Daniel into a proper partner for our heroina. He's got too many issues.

deb: thanks for a bunch of great comments; I love you take on these developments (esp about the "non-dads" congratulating that young buck who should have known better. And if they did say what happend to Olegario's brother, I must have missed it. It remains to be seen how many loose ends we'll have to endure at the final.

Aficionada, I love your description of the Roxy/Memin reading/teaching/speaking thing. What a beautiful process, and I think you may be completely correct. But the critical part is for her to feel safe because once she does regain her voice, she has to be out of danger of Liliana. That little actriz is doing a fine job.

Not sure I can crank out a recap today. If I get over my deadline, I'll take a crack at it. Does anybody know how much longer this show is supposed to run?

Los Mis

Chiming in as a Los Mis lurker. Thanks much lxv for the snappy recap! I've been in and out of this one, can't really commit when Daniel is so cruel to Lucha. Hard to watch, as others have commented.
Could Radames be faking the memory loss?

Los Mis

Thanks to LXV for your recaps and to all those who have commented. Due to the holidays I'm 2 days behind. However I see Daniel and Abel are still annoying in their roles as bullheaded idiots. I don't find either of them to be emotionally appealing, but I'm enjoying other developments, particularly...
1. the humble taxi driver. who wouldn't believe him
2. Chelo reclaiming (or acquiring) her sense of power and self respect
3. Chelo showing Vicky that now is the time to be an adult and put all aside for the sake of the baby
4. Vicky...just because. she's one of the few authentic characters on the show.
5. Radames fake amnesia. I laughed watching him try to push all the right buttons with Helena. I hope he stumbles over his lies in front of the right people. he can't keep pretending to have forgotten everything and everyone except her for much longer. Also, I haven't seen the most recent episodes but I can't imagine that Deborah is out of the picture, especially since she can testify to Radames' deception. I'm not her fan but I'm still hoping that in the end she'll humble herself and take the NY apartment that Cesar left her and leave her damaged past behind her.

Okay i hate it how there no one recapping Tierra De Reyes. Its the only one i follow with the occasion where i would watch Senora Acero. I actually think its not at all like FELS but wayy better. Im sorry but Novelas on Univision are crap and have been getting worse. This novela even though it follows the story of Pasion de Gavilanes is still a good one. I just want someone to recap it so i can hear somebody else s perspective for a change.

Los Mis

deb, thank you, too, for comments.
"I'm actually a bit fascinated watching the tormented Daniel (Erik Hayser does this so well) … ."
I can understand that. I have found him fascinating, while infuriating; and I have many times found myself thinking how incredibly well Erik Hayser acts torment.

" … and did they ever say what happened to his [Olegario's] brother?"
It has bugged me some that story line seemed to disappear. But then, last night, there he was! I presume we were seeing his corpse in that bed, when Lucha went to his house at Olegario's demand, to get Roxy and Memin?

Does anyone know if Oleg killed his brother? Was there a part when he did that? I have missed some shows.

Thank you, again, LXV, and for your kind words.

"I truly believe he is pathological … I don't think anything can turn Daniel into a proper partner for our heroina. He's got too many issues."
Just when you say that, they show his career will end if he doesn't get psychiatric help! The writers probably realize they've gone too far, made him too crazed and violent to ever be fit to be with Lucha, so they'll have him treated.

" … the critical part is for her [Roxanita] to feel safe because once she does regain her voice, she has to be out of danger of Liliana. That little actriz is doing a fine job."
Yes, I really feel her fear when I see Liliana getting anywhere near her! Macarena Oz is very talented, isn't she? Did you see, was I seeing right, that she shouted, was it "Momma," when Lucha arrived at Oleg's brother's place? I don't remember seeing her say a full word before that. Did anyone see her speak again, before this? I mean since her becoming silent, of course.

"Not sure I can crank out a recap today …. Does anybody know how much longer this show is supposed to run?" Please just know that when you do is a great help. I hope someone knows that answer about how long it will go.

Anonymous Jan 08, 02:55:00 PM: "Could Radames be faking the memory loss?"
Good question! I have been watching his every word and expression for a sign of that!

Spanish Student, thank you, too, for comments:
" … I see Daniel and Abel are still annoying in their roles as bullheaded idiots." Yes!!!

" … but I'm enjoying other developments, particularly … "
Great list! I feel the same about those people you mention.

One question. You wrote " … since she [Deborah] can testify to Radames' deception." Did I miss her finding out he is faking the amnesia?

Wishing all a good weekend!

the Miserables

as to how long this will be, I see they are still filming "Dueños del Paraíso" in Miami, which starts next Tuesday, but I have not seen any Telemundo plans for a novela after that.

yes, Macarena Oz (Roxana) is a terrific young actress, but I wish they would have given her a more challenging part.

Aficionada- that was a good point that Spanish Student made about Deborah, as I remember it Deb was fussing around Radames' room asking for forgiveness, when he slowly came around and between what she was saying and what he was beginning to remember, he put together that it was her that conked him, now this came out with others in her letter to Octavio but I don't think Radames' has ever brought this up with Helena, or anyone.

Los Mis

Aficionada, I don't recall the details but I thought that, based on something Radames said, Deb figured out that he had regained his memory. In fact at one point he insulted her again by telling her she's not intelligent enuf to run his businesses. Yet when Deborah asked if he regained his memory, he pretended to be suffering from a major headache (in order to avoid being found out). This was immediately before Deborah left the house and left the letter for Octavio.

Also, again i haven't seen the last 2 episodes, but at least once when he was alone, he has stated that Helena will be his again. So he's definitely scheming.

LOS MIZ parte uno
The prison van carrying Lucha & Nuria is hijacked by Anselmo & henchmen. The guard gets shot in the head Nuria's mouth is agape as wide as is humanly possible. The girls are handcuffed to each other

liliana smarms into police station to spread poison about Lucha saying (what we know is true) that El Diablo (Lucha's amante) set up the whole escape thing, and yes, she hates her sister

Back at the ambush, Lucia protests to Diablo's henchmen that she didn't want to be rescued. Nuria grabs a gun from the fallen cop. they run and a shoot out proceeds right in the middle of a busy street Anselmo beats a hasty retreat. Nuria is in charge cuz she got the gun.

Dan & Pablo are back at HQ figuring out Marrero's strategy with a map of Mexico when they get the phone call about the ambush.

Pablo counsels Dan to be cool headed, but nah! he's gonna lay down the law. And for not the first time, Dan tries to usurp the boundaries of jurisdiction among the law enforcement agencies. He's starting to get psychotically grandiose.

The gals are on the run through the main streets of town in their prison khaki's manacled together at the wrist.

Scruffy cop (Rodriguez?) shows up unexpectedly at Casa Duran. After the kerfuffle about the paternity of Adriana's bebe, this is awkward for Abel who has been trying to conceal anything untoward from Don Ignoracio and the erstwhile harpy Fernanda. Abel, thinking quickly on his feet, greets the cop with a fake name and desperately hustles him off to another room to evade the scrutiny of sus padres. They aren't exactly fooled.

Chelo's at the school pleading Vicky's case She's been kicked out on morals charges. The snotty prinicpal upholds the snotty principles of his clientele. She drops this unfortunate news on Vick & baby daddy Octavio, who screws up his face in a way that indicates the dawning of realization.

LOS MIZ parte dos
Back to the antler bashing in the side room at Casa Duran, Rodri (I realize he has a first name, but I don't know what it is) lays it out plain & simple "I am the baby daddy because Adri & I have "done it" a whole bunch of times and you haven't. And when the bun comes out of the oven, there's gonna be a paternity test. So there.

Fernanda has been listening at the door, so the jig is up. But, they have to rush off to Lucia's new hearing. (the DA, or whoever has reopened her case based on what exactly, I was never sure). Of course we know this will not happen bcs at this very moment she's on the lam.

Anselmo shows up at Diablo's lair, with tail between his legs over the screwed-up ambush. Diablo threatens to rip him a new one if anything happens to "his" Lucia.

Lucia manages to get the girls unshackled by shooting the handcuffs with the gun.

Fernanda tries (unsuccessfully) to get Vicky to rat out Adriana about the bebe's papa

Daniels' squad shows up near the place where Lucha was last seen. Daniel officially oversteps his authority when the other cop group tries to muscle in on this action (which is rightfully their jurisdiction). Daniel cites a higher authority based on his delusions of grandeur. The other cops run off disgruntled, and of course we know there will be consequences.

Our escapees fight over the gun and Lucha wins. Dan & Leon are close by, it looks grim for the gals. Leon actually makes visual contact. She radios Dan; static on on the line. He radios back. Futile! the transmission doesn't go thru. Leon actually appears resigned at letting them get away (cuz she privately thinks Danny-boy is off his rocker).

Back at the Durans, everybody is watching the news featuring Lucha's escape. They all agree that Lucha is not at fault. Mama very sternly takes Abel aside; Abel makes up more bull about the paternity issue. Fernanda threatens that papa will suffer dire consequences from such unpleasant news, so it better not be true.

LOS MIZThe Durans aren't the only one watching the news, Diablo maintains to Anselmo that his Lucha is so brilliant she will never let herself get caught.

Our girls in khaki are still running around together. Lucha's got the gun and also a phone she's sposed to use to call Diablo. Nuria urges her to make the call and get them out of this jam. They wind up in a warehouse.

The cops give up their search. Dan throws his weight around. He gets a call from the judge or DA (whoever that guy is). "This is all I need" he growls after being told to report immediately.

Lucha blasts the handcuffs with the gun, yanks the cartridge and hands the empty gun to Nuria telling her to Vamos vamos.

Lucia alone in the warehouse finds some different, equally unattractive clothing and makes the phone call to Diablo. All she wants to know is where are her kids, Roxi & Memin. Diablo gives her an address.

In the judge's (or whoever, they call him secretario) office, Daniel has to answer to the cop he dissed as well as the warden of the women's prison who he ran roughshod over the other day. His paranoia is showing. Almost the first thing he says is "is this an ambush?" with a nasty sneer in his tone, he insults everybody present in the room. The judge warns him to watch it. They are doing this for his own good.
After dismissing his accusers, the judge, reciting all Dan's great contributions & service, suspends him from duty pending psychiatric evaluation. Hayser does a great job of looking particularly looney during this interview. (the tight jaw, the squinty eyes, the half smile). Dan naturally disputes this assessment, frustrated in his urgent mission of justicia.

Deyanira & Carlos cozy up over lunch while at work in a most inappropriate way for office. Is this a good sign?

Lucha, in her new olive drab outfit, shows up at an address to find a note with further directions indicating that he has flown the coop and gone north.

Some scene with detectives & the Durans; they leave fortunately in time because, then, Lucha calls home saying she is on the trail of her hijos. Don Ignoracio sighs in relief at the sound of her voice. Hugs all around.

LOS MIZ parte quatro
Back at police HQ, Dan, Leon, & Pablo confer: Lucha is going out of their territory where they have no jurisdiction. Dan gets grandiose. Pablo reminds him he has to go to the shrink.

Deyanira prays to statues in the chapel about her sorry state as an ex-prosti. Sor Milagros comes chiding her about shirking her work duties and the conversation devolves into the philosophical about the nature of true repentance and self-acceptance. Milagros again is the receipient of heartfelt hugs which cause the glycerin to flow. She's managing to fill the big boots left by her predeccessor, Sor Amparo. This is nice to see.

Back at her desk, Deyanira practices self-acceptance by gazing in her compact mirror when Dan barges in, belligerent, paranoid & accusatory. All he wants his that slip of paper permitting him back on the force. Doc Carlos agrees with el secretario but can't take him as a patient because of confidentiality and professional ethics. So he refers him another shrink, a woman. (Heyser is really good in this scene, his eyes are even red)

Nuria awakens the sleeping Lily with the unloaded gun. She asserts herself and the two witches cozy up in conspiracy. (Lily has to tolerate this opportunistic sisterly crap)

Radames begs admittance to Elena's bedroom. She's not having it. Not sure how much faking is going on, but it's a real possibility (the snake). She brings up the divorce. He accuses her of being in love with that cop. Elena goes to police HQ to tell Pablo it's all over between them.

Dan goes to his intake with the new shrink. She's young, attractive, professional.

Lucha makes it to the ranch up north; she's admitted through the gates. Roxana runs up to her calling "mama"! On her heels is the enemy, Diablo with his own words of welcome.

Well, that's it for last night's. Sorry it's posted so late. I hope y'all get a chance to read it before tonight's show starts. (this one is long, because I actually went back & re-watched as I wrote it.

Los Mis

My oh my, too much to remember, too much!

First, to all, I apologize for writing about Olegario's brother appearing in the show last night. It was in the avance. I know there is a rule against doing that. I mixed up what was in the final scene and the avance. I am sorry. I will be more careful.

Thank you, deb, good point about their not talking about another tn yet. That does imply there is a while more to go. And I am definitely with you about the excellent Macarena Oz (Roxana): "but I wish they would have given her a more challenging part."

Thank you, deb, and thank you, spanish student, for giving me pieces that show Radames IS faking. What a horrible person he is!

Thank you for another great, detailed recap, lxv! Four parts worth! And it is clear you are very busy, so all more thanks!

" … Don Ignoracio and the erstwhile harpy Fernanda" LOL perfect!

"the antler bashing" LOL!

"cuz she [León] privately thinks Danny-boy is off his rocker" - Glad you say that, because I have wondered when she is going to see that!

"Don Ignoracio [Yes!] sighs in relief at the sound of her [Lucha's] voice. Hugs all around." Did it seem to you, to anyone?, that "erstwhile harpy Fernanda" was acting changed in seeming HAPPY about that?

I LOVE this: "Deyanira prays to statues in the chapel" lOL OL! still L'ingOL!!

And this: [Sor Milagro] "She's managing to fill the big boots left by her predeccessor, Sor Amparo. This is nice to see." It really is! I was holding my breath for her, I swear: Is she going to just be all stern and lecturing to Deyanira now? No! She was great. And cute in her clear being flustered by affection.

Good Weekend, all!

Los Mis

Forgot one I want to add:
lxv, you wrote "Deyanira & Carlos cozy up over lunch while at work in a most inappropriate way for office. Is this a good sign?"

I have been happy for them, glad every time Carlos comes through for Deyanira. But she does seem to have reason for her unhappiness with him. I think he is treating her kind of ... prostitute like. Do you think so? Especially the sex in the office, where he then can reject her at a whim. Last night, he actually SHOVED her away from him, almost hurting her, and definitely hurting her feelings. Then - well, she should not be listening through the door as she was, but still - he denies being involved with her, to the shrink he sent Dan to. How hurtful!
I have many times thought how insensitive he acts towards Deya, and him a shrink and all! He's got his own neuroses to work on, that is for certain!

LOS MIZ parte uno

Lucha and the kids are at El Diablo's ranch. He's all kinds of smarmy sweet about how they can have everything they want; and totally "who me?" at any suggestion of malfeasance.

Daniel is at his first appointment with the shrink, and I gotta say, it pretty much follows the pattern for many a first visit to the shrink: lots o'denial, and resistance "I don't need no stinking shrink". But, I gotta say, she was not as professional as I would have hoped. She had a sort of provocative streak that may be her way of getting to the problem, but on an intake interview, I would have expected a bit more reserve as she assessed the patient's condition & needs. Can't say I like this character.

I haven't noticed whether or not Roxanita has said more than "mamà". She doesn't appear fully rehabilitated yet. After a lavish meal at El Diablo's table, Lucha and the kids hunker down to discuss their escape plan. It appears they are going to attempt it TONIGHT! (I would have thought the better course would have been to play along, disarm Diablo's suspicion with compliance, gather resources for what will most likely be an arduous & dangerous journey through foreign territory, and then, strike when the best moment arose) I guess the reason for their haste is that El Diablo has made clear his intention to whisk them out of Mexico through the various extra-legal means that only international narco-trafficantes can command. When they actually get around to making their break, they get sidetracked in a bedroom with a moribund inhabitant: the hermano gemelo, who we thought was already dead. When they first zoomed in on the body, his chest heaved noticeably and I thought "Oh, how cheesy, this guy's supposed to be dead." But in fact, he isn't dead yet, he's being slowly starved to death. As we know, he hasn't got the use of his legs, so in this weakened state, he's as good as dead. Of course, Nurse Lucy cannot resist her calling and starts doing a bunch of nurse stuff which, naturally delays the escape attempt (and a good thing too, because she is wearing a skirt). Well, they get caught in the room by none other than el otro hermano gemelo who gets off on being ordered around by his santa. They are all reminded whose in charge however and you can be sure the guard will be doubled.

Nuria and Lily are still in the hotel room. Nuria is determined to take Lili down a peg at a time, and gain as much influence as she can. She starts out by dragging Lil's dresses out of the closet to try on and see how they would look on her. Sisters!! Oh yeah. Lily is held hostage by this pest, but the whole thing is interrupted when Daniel shows up at the door. Nuria scurries into the other room to hide out. Daniel & Lil go through their nasty aggressive sparring. Lily spews her poisonous sob story about how, yeah, she & Marrero were a number once, but that whore of a Lucia Duran had to spoil it all. And now Lucia's got Marrero wrapped around her little finger and he'd do anything for her, and poor me. And I could love you Danny, we could have a thing. Well, he doesn't once unclench his jaw or loosen his stare in this scene. His blood is boiling too hard to make sense out of any of it. He's in full antler-bashing mode. He pretty much slams the door on the way out.

Pablo & Dan discuss the fact that they are pretty much powerless if the Lucha and Diablo actually cross the border.

LOZ MIZ parte dos
Vicky, Octavian & taxi driver guy go out at night with spray cans and write a bunch of really sloppy graffiti on the subject of oppression all over the campus of the school from which Vicky was just expelled for being pregnant. Sirens are heard approaching. They drop the cans and run. [Idiots!]

At Radames mansion, a pair of spectacularly-plumed, very large tropical birds are delivered through the courtyard, followed by a tall, well-dressed woman who identifies herself as a recently-divorced niece, just arrived from Paris, where she had just run into Deborah. [Is she on a mission? for her own gain, or in cahoots with Deb? curious minds want to know] Looks like she's planning to move in with all her luggage. Radames is still feigning (or not?) memory loss. He doesn't recognize her. Elena does though, and smooths things over, welcoming her into the house. One comment made about those gorgeous birds is that they are very clever and repeat every word they hear. Hmmm. I wonder what words they are going to hear.

Into this assembled company enters Anselmo who holds Radames at gunpoint while demanding he "remember" about all the money he owes to his boss. Pablo happens by to break this up and is introduced to the new houseguest who wastes not a minute determining whether he is married, involved or single. She pretty much asks him out on a date and he says sure. Elena's face, in the background shows a pang of regret (well, when doesn't she show a pang of something). After Pablo leaves the house, the maid brings her a package; it's his love letters that she had asked to be returned. Pobre de Elena! crocodile tears ensue. Such a tragic figure. Well, now they've got Anselmo under lock & key, a pawn, a bargaining chip, a informant? Some leverage at the very least. Although I think the old A-man would never give it up on his boss. These gangsters have a code.

Carlos & Deyanira are going at it hot & heavy behind the closed office door, when there's a knock. They wiggle around compose themselves as quickly as possible, Carlos has to go sit down behind the desk to disguise his disarray. It's none other than the lady shrink. She teases Carlos about the lipstick all over his face. It's clear she's flirting with him. Poor Deya's lessons in self-esteem can't help against someone with education and professional credentials; she is crestfallen. The shrink grills Carlos about Dan (which is completely inappropriate & unprofessional & grounds for censure). Carlos, to his credit, despite being found in a compromising situation, puts lady shrink in her place saying that it's her job to do her own assessment for treatment.

Oh, and somewhere in all of this Adriana bops over to the Duran house, where, heretofore she has been the beloved daughter-in-law, only to be met with the icy glare of Fernanda who grills her on the paternity issue. Adri does her usual cheek-sucking and mouth pursing.

This may be out of sequence, but I hope i've included the important plot points. And, I had really thought we were heading into the home stretch with this, but now they've introduced 2 new characters: the lady shrink & the divorced cousin from Paris. So I guess we all better hunker down for una nueva etapa

Los mis

Tks so much for the recap. Hopefully Telemundo will cooperate so I can watch the wkly synopsis.

I think I'll probably regurgitate when Lucia & Daniel make up.

Sra Acero
Thought Blanca was improving, but those facial expressions are still way over the top.

lxv, what a great surprise to find the TWO excellent detailed recaps.Although I can understand much of it
with common sense and a modicum of Spanish, it's SO
frustrating to miss so many of the details. Muchisimas
gracias!!!!

Variopinta, I have to agree about Blanca Soto's ridiculous
facial expressions. I'm surprised that someone hasn't
advised her about such overacting.

Sara was cracking me up, I think she has been practicing making faces this whole time just for last night's show.

did anyone catch the whole story on the 3 million dollars that Sara's husband DIDN'T steal, that kicked off this whole adventure.

and wow, we get to see Sara, Muñeco, and el Teca as teenagers, they really didn't change much.

I guess whiney Salvador lives on to continue his annoying ways.

I thought el Teca mentioned a secret tunnel and when he stopped at that giant tree I kept waiting for him to disappear. (good strategy denouncing Sara, since they killed off everyone who knew who he was)

a character dressed all in white usually means there is lots of blood in their future but Sara didn't get even a drop on her.

they seemed to make a big deal out of Sara killing Indio, I guess playing off "La Reina del Sur" by the same writer where that character was not allowed to soil her hands killing her evil nemesis. (I actually kind of liked Indio, if only he wasn't hanging out with el Psycho who duped him as well).

Onion anyone? (and who carries whole onions around in their pockets)

and so one more show, gran final or intro to the second season?

Would someone please briefly explain the genesis of
El Teca's obsession with Sara. I evidently missed the
part about them as teenagers. Thank you. I was sort of
disappointed in the way Indio died. He deserved every-
thing he got and more, but I just wish that Sara had
not been the one to do it.

the Miserables

thanks so much lxv!
I did get to read your Thursday's recap before the show and loved it!
and last night's recap was absolutely wonderful,
you are so good at adding the human element.

ah yes, Deyanira & Carlos, inappropriate is the perfect word to describe these two, from the way she dresses at the office to the way he's on fire, and then there is this new shrink, who I wonder if she will be like the one in "La Patrona" who used her skills to sexually ensnare her patient.

Pablo bowing out the relationship with Elena will surely turn the tables on her, and were those daggers coming from her eyes as the niece cozied up to him.

the writers are being crafty at not showing us enough about Radames so we can see the gears turning, but won't news of Deb running off with his fortune cause him to swing into action, when Elena had to pay for dinner the other night I was waiting for her credit cards to be rejected.

Lucha, Roxana, and Memin, no one is going to take down this tag team, not even the Diablo.

and wow, Lucha calls Daniel from the Devil's lair, she didn't get to finish, but yet another time Daniel must look away from the truth, adding to his torment.

even though bedridden, was Olegario's brother sporting that same perfect (bob's big boy) hair. (I would think Daniel could track down Olegario from his cleaning bill for his suits.)

I don't know why no one has bumped off Nuria yet, she is pretty much a stone in everyone's shoe.

I hope the graffiti kids all end up in jail, and their parents called, although I like taxi driver hanging out with them.

Anselmo is a regular at the jailhouse but his lawyer always seems to drop by to fetch him.

"Adri does her usual cheek-sucking and mouth pursing", ha, ha, so true, but love watching her doing it, and whatever she and her old time best buddy Abel try to pull off is just never going to work, these guys are just too naive.

Lucha's split lips must be a carry over from her Catacomb days in "La Patrona", and later with that short hair, what's interesting is that Olegario is just fine how ever she is as long as she is by his side, but Daniel, hmm... that is a whole different story.

Los Mis

Thank you for another great, very helpful recap, lxv!
And to all for such clarifying comments!

LOS MIS:

I haven't watched the show in a month so the recaps are appreciated. I've found Telemundo's Argos galans can be jerky. Daniel has an excuse, unlike Alejandro Beltran in La Patrona, for being clueless since he's working through mental illness.

As soon as I read about Dan having to see a psychiatrist, I also thought about the sexpot psychiatrist in La Patrona who plied her wares on Ricardo, played by Aldo Gallardo, who's now psychologist Carlos in Los Mis.

LOS MIZ
Oh, one more thing I forgot to include: Adriana makes an admirable attempt to deflect harpy-Fernanda's assault going so far as to suggest that something's not right about Abel. "Whaddya mean, not right?" She shrugs her shoulders and says, Maybe you should ask Abel." Now, does this mean Adri gets the big picture? or simply that all she knows is that he's' not putting out for HER. I'm with you deb, I suspect, the latter, that she really is that naive. We shall see.

Thanks mucho to all you great Caray-mates for fabulous comments & input. It's so much more fun when we can get a good conversation going.

Ivx, thanks for the great recap!

Rodriguez's first name is Everisto.

Yes, Radamez is definitely faking it.

Did Pablo take Anselmo with him? And the other two henchmen?

When did Adriana find out about Abel? Did she suspect all along?

-Anselmo's boyfriend

Señora Acero

AnonGringa- thanks for hanging in there, I enjoy your comments, hopefully things will pick up with "Dueños del Paraíso".

anyway, I was hoping someone could fill us in on the details of the Sara/Teca story but... so I'll give it a try although most of this is guessing...

we saw early scenes of el Teca, stalking Sara, driving by her house, while Muñeco (the guy that tried to rape her in the first shows) tried to put the moves on her, and so he has always been obsessed with her, and in the first shows we were led to believe Indio was running things, but from what we know now, el Teca must have been calling the shots, and so I don't think Sara's husband stole the 3 million, but el Teca led everyone (including Indio) to believe that, to justify having him killed and thus ending her marriage.

and I don't know why Sara's guys were burning the money, I'll get rid of it for them.

Señora Acero
You are correct, deb. Teca actually gave the money to Vicente and asked him to keep it safe. Then Teca let everyone think he stole it.

I feel like things have fizzled toward the end. Even the revelation that Teca had wanted Sara forever and planned it all felt like a dud. There had been heavy hints about it for a while.

Best line from last week (paraphrased) said by Indio Amaro as he gave Araceli all those gems: there are emeralds, rubies, talismans and a bunch of other novela names.

Señora Acero

Sara- when Junio and Mariana jumped off the balcony to get out of the novela... well, that was the first clue things weren't going so well.

when Junio and Mariana jumped off the balcony to get out of the novela... well, that was the first clue things weren't going so well.

Deb, I don't know who Junio and Mariana are, but this is one of the funniest lines ever!

Señora Acero
The show was definitely not the same without Junio and Mariana. The death of Elio and the lack of Quintanilla really did the show in for me.

Thank you, Deb, for making the El Teca-Sara story
clearer. I'm still hoping that the "good bad guys" end
up well. Anon Gringa Also, thank you again for all
the helpful information throughout the novela. I'm not sure if I'll be watching the new one.
