La Gata #113 2/6/15 OFFS

I still hate this show.
I still hate Latoodle.
I am only mildly annoyed with Univision.

For the first time ever I actually hate the protagonista. Please don't be upset, gringo. I still adore Maite to my core, but it is awful how utterly stupid her character has turned out to be.

Don't be alarmed as I also hate the galán.

I might as well get on with this and put me out of my misery.

Leti and Virginia 2.0 discuss how wretched grandma is. She only likes Pablo. Poor girls.

Mariano and Pablo confab. Pablo wants to know about the fortune Fer gave back to the Martinez Negretes. It hasn't been touched in all these years and surely a lot of interest has accrued? Mariano has some bad news.

Little Pablito plays with the car his mother bought for him. Dorila tells him it's nap time. Grandma's orders. He's tired of being cooped up and wants to know where his mother is. When he hears she's with Monica he honestly offers up his assessment of Mónica--"she's weird and looks at my dad with googly eyes." Dorila tells him not to make stuff up and he informs her that HE'S not the liar, Grandma Lo is. In fact, he's going to pray for her a lot. Liars don't go to heaven, and he doesn't want her to go to hell. Dorila makes a cryptic comment about a lot of people have earned hell....long before he was born. I'm sure there's a story there. Let's see if Ms. Latoodle remembers. Dorila asks Pablito not to say anything to Lo about their conversation.

Seriously? Flashbacks from YESTERDAY. FILLER!!!

Dorila is not buying the crap about Pablito being sick. And Lo called him her "hijo". Creepy. Lo grumbles about the irresponsible Gata. Dorila knows Lo wants Esme (LA GATA! corrects Lo) out of the house. Lo doesn't think Pablito will catch on to her real intentions, but Dorila warns her that Pablito is not to young to distinguish the truth from a lie. I don't know. His genetics don't favor a strong BS detector. We're all in this mess because neither Pablo Sr. nor Esme could figure out everyone was lying to them.

Ines visits Rita. Her "dirt" looks more like bad spray tan. Perhaps the stuff they used on Sabine in AdP? Rita informs Ines that Garabato wants nothing to do with her or the child. Ines looks devastated. Why exactly am I supposed to care?

Lo visits a sleeping Pablito. She thinks how happy the two of them could be. If only God would give her a hand. No one wishes for death...but if something should happen to Esmeralda and Pablito was separated from her. If only Lo were left with just Pablito. This woman is nuts.

Esme is in the hall looking for Pablito. Lo goes all You Shall Not Pass.

Ines is pissed that Garabato won't help her. O woe is her! She wants to find her hijo. Remember she sold him for 2 million pesos. Rey (in a glitter cap) wants to make an hijo. Ew.

Esme tells Lo she's trying to get along but she's tired of it all. She can't stand it anymore. What are you going to do? Lo asks. Hit me? She repeats is several times at higher decibels just to make her point. Esme is cara de QTH? Lo finally lets Esme in.

Pablito is happy to see Esme. He confides in her that he overheard Monica and Lo talking. In a flashback we see little Pablito duck behind the couch and hears Lo saying "Oh Monica, I would have loved for Pablo to have married you!" Then Pablito tells Esem how Monica said she would have liked that too, but Pablo preferred La Gata. Esme changes the subject. Would Pablito like to live in another house? Where he, Leti, mom and dad were all together? He sure would! He asks her why grandma says if it were up to Esme he would be wandering around all dirty. So, yeah. Someone help me out with that. Latoodle illustrated this point with one of her "exploit the real life basurero folk" shots.

And that's about my limit for actually rewatching and going scene by scene. Time to play "What the hell does Sara Remember?"

For some inexplicable reason Pablo thinks Esme is wanting out of the marriage. Oh, wait now I remember, Monica is sort of telling him that. Esme can't take Lo anymore and Pablo says he told Esme she needs to learn to deal with his mother (Thanks Diva!) A$$hole. Monica offers him money to help him out of his financial difficulties.

The Martinez Negretes are actually broke. Supposedly there were some withdrawals before Augie died. Fer ain't buyin' it. He sends Dam and Osoroio off to investigate. (Different case, but seriously, same use of characters.)

Psst--Lorenza made those withdrawals and put them in another account in her name. Beach.

Gi isn't happy that Monica is "helping."

Pablo buys a big honking ring for Esme. Despite his economic troubles. She doesn't want to accept but, he talks her into it. She swears she'll never take it off.

Awesome!! Augie's back...even it it's only in Lo's whacked out head. He just reminds her that her anvil is on it's way. He custom ordered from David & gringo Anvil Co. LLC. Just in time for Valentine's Day!

And here's the scene where I officially wrote of Esme. She wants to make nice with Lo...despite all their problems. DUMBASSNESS. Lo starts hitting herself and screaming "Why are you hitting me, Esme! Stop! Stop!" Pablo and the nietos come running and the look Pablo gives Esme has me seething. A$$hole again. Dead. This show is dead to me. f**kity f**k f**k.

Doc Hat was called to care for the MIL from hell. Doc wants to know if Lo thinks Pablo told Esme about the financial ruin and Lo is sure he did. He's a mandilón (hen-pecked coward) who tells his wife everything. She tells Pablo that Esme told her about the financial problems. THere's no way Pablo will leave his poor, penniless mother!

Fer wants to help Esme, but as usual...she refuses. This is why I hate you Esme.

Esme goes to see Lo. Lo notices the ring and talks Esme into pawning it. If Esme will pawn it, the Lo will be nice to her. OFFS! This isn't kindergarten. "If you let me play with your toy I'll be your friend." And DimwitEsme gives her the freaking ring. Dead. This show is deader to me than it was 2 paragraphs ago.

Rey tries to rape Ines. Garabato busts in and rescues her. Later he offers her money to go away and she asks him to help her find her child.

2 more episodes and I am DONE!!

I hope La Sombra is better. I'm looking forward to recapping that one.

crap! It's all crap!!

Maite does rock the pencil skirt and pumps though.

What exactly are the living arrangements? Does Leti stay with Fer and Blanca?

Five episodes left. FIVE EPISODES to wrap this whole mess up and THIS is what they give us?

Thank you, Sara. Thank you so much. For confirming that I didn't imagine all the dumbassery. And that I'm not the only one who thinks it is dumbassery. It's a comfort to know I haven't imagined this schlock. Plus your outrage makes me laugh. What? I'm laughing WITH you. To keep from crying.

Pablito, there is no amount of praying that's gonna get your horrible gradma into heaven. That relationship is wrong on so many levels. Lo's bizarre fixation on him, her manipulation. This is just sick and disturbing and...UGH! One more week, one more week, one more week....

"Pablo thinks she needs to learn to deal with his mother." Gonna correct you there a tiny bit, because this pissed me off so much. He said "I told her she needs to learn to deal with my mother." And I was, like "The hell did you just say?! You do not say that kind of crap to your WIFE unless you are looking to be rid of a wife." And that ring...just...QTH, dude? Again with the big gestures instead of actually working on the relationship. Oh, this time the ring represents your undying love? Because you didn't really swear undying love the last fifty times you swore undying love? But this time it's really for real? Spare me!

Awww, that Augie. Always so thoughtful. I can just see the look of surprise on Lo's face when she sees the anvil coming. "He went to David & gringo's!" is the new "He went to Jared!"

Esme. Esme, Esme, Esme. You have learned nothing. Nothing at all. Gringo, please, you need to save this girl...from herself!

THanks, Diva. I fixed the wording in the recap for you know...posterity.

I will second you on Maite's look. It's very corporate sexy. I can just see her doing officey things in any of the outfits she's worn after the time jump. It makes me wonder what she typically does all day. Pablito says she never goes out. That's a lot of look for just hanging around the house.

I think Leti lives with her parents and Lo. I think. How sad is it that I can't be sure?

I'm still just agog. Just. What? Why?

Why is Virginia dead?
Why wasn't this over on Wednesday?
Why is it still going on and with the same damn plot devices?

Lila's going to want to kick me for mentioning this because it's only going to disturb her further, but I cannot keep it in...

The big thing I was watching for with this weird "? years later" reunion special miniseries...thing...they're giving us is "Why did they need the time jump? What is it that they're going to do that they couldn't have done in the show's current timeline." And I think the answer is that they needed the kids to be old enough to mess with. I think they felt like they'd run out of ideas for horrible things for Lorenza (mostly) to do, so they aged the kids to increase her despicableness. And I also have the horrible feeling that they're not going to adjust her anvil accordingly. At this point, I can't even think of an appropriately horrible fate for her.

I would think Pablo finally telling her to go to hell and leaving her alone in a crumbling house would be kind of appropriate.

Or maybe there is still time to reveal her Basurero roots?

Are they ever going to reveal the Dorila mystery??

Not enough for me Sara. I want to see her burn like what's her name in CI.

Do Lo stole money but why would they give her access to their accounts? Dumbarses

But doesn't Esme have money? Or did she spend it all building those apts? Just like in CI!

** So Lo stole Pabs., Mar and VAs money

I want to see both of them burn, but when I started thinking about it I realized I didn't want her to burn at Esme's wedding. That wasn't fair to Esme.

But after tonight I don't think I would have cared.

I mean I get the whole "turn the other cheek" but I can't believe how they've taken that to an extreme.

And wait a minute. Did Mariano and Pabs not take some of the money and put it in a trust for their dead sister's child? Am I expecting to much logic and thought on the part of the writers?

Let me add to the analysis of the money shenanigans...supposedly the money was moved right before Augie died? That was YEARS ago! Nobody effin' noticed?! It sounds like Esme's trust that her parents set up for her has plenty of money in it BECAUSE SHE'S NEVER TOUCHED IT--a fact Lo plans to use to make Esme look like a greedy cow. So, am I to believe that whatever money Pablo and Esme have earned with whateverthehell work it is they do was COMBINED with the original "Martinez Negrete" money and that somehow nobody ever noticed that the money was disappearing?

Sorry, that didn't help, did it?

So how is Centivo taking care of VA? He cant just still be singing at coffee houses. Didn't look like he was part of the construction crew.

Oh and I forgot to say THANK YOU FOR RECAPPING THIS CRAPOLA!

No problem, Carvivlie. You know, I can't think of what he does either. If they said I sure don't remember.

I don't remember any clues or hints about how Carlos is making a living.

Was it my imagination that Little Ginny said her Dad teaches music at the institute? Or maybe that was MY wishful thinking. Seems like we're all taking turns rewriting this piece of mierda.

She bowed out of this one, but we need Vivi ... she always has ALL the details!

Hmm. I think I hear a soft little bell ringing somewhere that she said that.

That sounds like it could be right. And he was substitute teaching one of the Braille classes. Hot-Ex-PT said he was actually their best Braille instructor, even though he was only subbing.

Vivi is having the last laugh too! She tried to warn me. Lol.

I wonder if Golden Sunflowers is around anywhere. That was another warning I didn't heed.

Thanks so much Sara!

Just got through watching the episode.

The money thing makes no sense.

Pabs "I told her to deal with her" was a QTH moment.

Augie is back in ghost form. Yay!

I couldn't believe how stupid Esme was to agree to pawn the ring. The she does something even more stupid and gives it to Lo. Argghhh!

One more week left. Sombra looks promising. I'm loving the promos.

I suspected there would be a cheer on the Patio with the return of Augie. I can't wait to hear from David and gringo about it.

And yes, the promos for sombra are looking really good.

Ay Sara! Pardon the intrusion. I couldn't help laughing at your intro. It's that bad?

Come back to Quiero Amarte. It is sooo good. Things are happening fast.

I shouldn't take on another tn right now, but Sombra looks like fun--another traditional one. I guess they have Big Hats and Horses?

Carlos took over the class that Virgina taught at the institute. He went in as a substitute but has now taken over the class and has been teaching it for several years now.

Score! Gracias, Mauricio!

Anita, It's not that bad. It's worse than that bad!

Are we getting hats and horses on the next one? I saw a lake. And smoochies. I'm looking forward to that! Hats and horses...golly, that would mean some rolls in the hay! It's too much to hope for!

Anita- I have to do a marathon this weekend. I'm so behind on watching and reading.

You're a life saver Mauricio!

If Sombra is a prime time TN in Mexico we might get some hay rolling.

There will be horses be cause one of the families made their fortune breeding horses.

Not sure about hats. I think I spotted a scarf like thing on Pablo Lyle.

Lila and Sara, thanks for keeping the recap banner flying as we struggle with ultimas capitulos!

I believe Carlos is teaching at the institute. Even a full-size body suit like the Michelin man wears is not enough to protect against the messed-up plot points here.

Not that long ago, Pablo swore off any further contact with his mother, yet he agreed to live with her!? He must still be suffering memory loss.

If Pablo and Esme have enough money to build a gigantic housing project, can they not provide a home of their own? Even if they lived in said project, wouldn't that be better than Lo's "loving" care?

And our cowboy counselor has abandoned his practice to work exclusively with Gi? And Monica still hasn't made a life for herself, so she's willing to assist Lo's evil project?

I agree, the only reason for the time jump must be to have kids old enough to torment and place in danger. At least the girls are savvy enough to see Grannie Lo for what she is. Pablito is starting to see the light.

Dorila is a mixed personality. She seemed completely Lo's creature in some early episodes, but now she's drifted to an anti-Lo position. Que que? Will we ever know her complete story?

If Gara-Victor is a rich man, can he not afford a better haircut?

Why have Esme and Pablo not learned more over the years? Why does Esme not teach her children to create jewelry for their sweet Grandma?

At least in CI, there was no tormenting of grandchildren. All the parents of Tav and MariCruz were dead, so we had no grandparents.

Sombra is a primetime show.

I think the reason for the lack of love scenes in this novela is because it was on at family time in Mex.

In that case, I say...Bring on the nookie!

"Even a full-size body suit like the Michelin man wears is not enough to protect against the messed-up plot points here." Word, La Paloma!

Thanks La Paloma! Loved the Michelin man quip. Egad none of this makes sense.

Mauricio- I hope Uni won't censor love scenes then. I suspect they will though. (that's assuming there are some steamy ones in La Sombra.)

Nookie. Woot woot.

Oh and La Paloma - kudos to "cowboy counselor."

Sara: "Thanks for recapping this Cr8pola"! Yeah, I second that...thanks!

Yes, loved Maite's Look with the bid-ness suit. Are she and Pablo tycoons now? They sure don't seem very happy.

Re the missing money, Fer told the detectives that he checked that account only a few months ago and it was all there. But then Lo thought-bubbled that she made it look like it disappeared so Pablo and Esme would think they were broke. Too complicated for me. I prefer Ines' method of just grasping a suitcase full of money.

I'm sort of glad for the time-jump because we finally get to see the kids walking and talking. Plus that little white cap on Baby Pablito was getting on my last good nerve.

El Sil has never looked better (although I didn't like his glasses frames).

The whole direction of the show since they tore down the dump is strangely disturbing. Maybe it's the astroturf around that new apartment building. Dunno.

J in Oregon

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!

"I prefer Ines' method of just grasping a suitcase full of money."

LOLs!

I tend to let money stuff go in one ear and out the other. I figure we're good just knowing that Lo has it and Pablo thinks he doesn't.

I think it would be hilarious if Ines was still walking around with that suitcase (albeit empty.)

J, true, the building is nice, but in a generic sort of fake-looking way.

I would, maybe, be more interested in what's going on with Esme and Pablo and why they're so distant from each other now if they'd tell us more about that. Then again, since it seems to be about the fact that neither of them has changed or grown up and, like Pablo said, they never actually dealt with any of their problems--they just got married and assumed that would magically fix everything.

Gosh...what's LaToodle trying to say with that? Or is this a "stopped clock" thing?

I feel really guilty and a bit more than spoiled. It's the same shit you're shoveling, you know it, I know it, we know it, yet a shoveling you will go. Thank you Sara, for telling me where the cowpiles lie.

Her "dirt" looks more like bad spray tan

Lorenza - kitty, kitty, kitty, come to Lo for your daily beating

Leti - I'm never gettin married

Virginia - hear that, Godzilla's coming, let's hide

Pablito - wonder what's in that ravine over there

Esmeralda - diamonds are not your best friend

Ines - what you want me to do, beg?

Pablo - I've blown all my money and the movie went straight to DVD

Hatbro - guess I'm the crazy bitches, bitch

Augie - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvyCMgAajqk

tofie- your lists are amazing!

Glad I could help GPS the BS.

I know the old adage is "we love to mock, don't mistake it for real hate."

So yeah. Maybe on a scale I'm more toward the hatred side.

But can anyone think of a show as bad as this? And by bad I mean 121 episodes of the same thing. Boring. Thank God Maite is pretty. And the Patio is fun as hell.

Thanks, Sara. You never disappoint. Your consternation at this is just so much fun to read, and reflects what all of us feel.

My wife thinks I am nuts for watching this stuff, and I'm beginning to agree with her. If I ever watch another stupid series like this one, I think I will swear off learning Spanish and take up knitting. On the other hand, I cherish the time spent on the patio listening to all of the super comments and insight.

I just don't know where to start picking this thing apart. There is no consistency in character development; people seem to see the light, then revert back to their former stupid selves. "Maturing" would not be a word that could be used at any point in this series up to this point.

This whole thing is like getting all dressed up to go to a fancy Easter Egg hunt, and then finding a turd inside the plastic egg.

At least Sherlock Sil isn't buying any of this shit, and has sent his Baker Street Boys off in hot pursuit.

I wonder if Nathalie Latrilleux was lately an inhabitant of an institute for the criminally insane? She sure seems to have a better handle on how a demented mind works than how a normal mind works.

Oh, tofie, I have looked extensively into your idea for making an anvil that will "fall" horizontally or go around corners. Since the force of gravity is F = G(mm')/(r squared), no matter how you manipulate the numbers, an anvil is going straight down. We would have to add a power source of some kind. And, thanks for another killer list.

5ft, your "Pablito, there is no amount of praying that's gonna get your horrible grandma into heaven" was sooo cool.

Augie is back as a spirit? Can you buy spirits for a spirit? Maybe some sacramental wine?

Sara (and all the rest of you recappers), a serious, heartfelt thank-you for seeing this through, and voicing the incredulity that we all feel.

David

Hey David if you want to take up knitting I can help with that too!

Like you I really look forward to our patio visits. I watch the show and get so angry, but all the nice folks here talk me down.

What a thought provoking comment about Latoodle. She really does seem to have a better handle on the demented mind. Could it be that Gi is loosely based on her as well?

I did not pay close attention to the final weeks of CI, but there was much consternation about Maricruz choosing to stay in jail. I feel like this fast forward to all of them living with Lo and being miserable is just a variation on the same theme. Esme has the means to get her family out of there, but she chooses to stay.

It's hard to root for someone like that.

I'm no ardent aficionado but it's the worst TN, I've watched and that includes some really bad soaps I've watched while in Asia.

I get being dumb to a nasty's machinations, a plot device, but the protagonist kids (sorry to all kids out there) in this one were developed or being portrayed as a codependent couple that cannot spell couple much less be one and to spawn fruit from that union, unfair to the fruit.

Neither, Pablo or Esmeralda has matured past their initial meeting in the ravine and their fixation on each other after their, I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

Pablo is, to quote Elvis Costello, "Just a little boy lost in a big man's shirt." He continues to be thoughtless and takes for granted Esmeralda's blind devotion but there is no disincentive to remain otherwise. Esmeralda, still rolls over like a beat down puppy. You would think, years of disappointment would tell her there is a pattern here, instead she has become numb and docile but knows there is a biscuit instead of make up sex and kinda worth the wait.

Sara. I think we all owe you an especially deep and heartfelt thanks for, as tofie so aptly put it, shoveling this shit TWICE a week! Here you are in a warm LG Patio Peeps embrace:

((((((((Sara&PP))))))))

I am really trying to be subdued in my response but because of what this insane clown, Nathalie Latrilleux, has done to the children in this show, I here quote Anon@12:53:

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!

LaPaloma, you have gotten to know me and you are right about what this wretch has done and my reaction to it:

they needed the kids to be old enough to mess with.

And you are welcome! I am proud to share with the LG recapping team the dubious honor of having helped to recap the worst telenovela or television show of any kind in recent memory. David said it best:

This whole thing is like getting all dressed up to go to a fancy Easter Egg hunt, and then finding a turd inside the plastic egg.

I, too, think Natty BooBooFace is an escapee from said institution and this novela is her venganza for all the imagined slights by the wretched poor who dare to breathe oxygen with the rest of us and the legions of prietos who deserve only to be buried and trampled beneath our feet. Her hatred of most of humanity and viewerville is as nonsensical as Lorenza's hatred of Esmeralda.

We have spent all this time just to watch the torturous flagellations of a couple of dimwits who have not matured past their initial meeting in the ravine and their fixation on each other after their, I'll show you mine if you show me yours. Thank you, tofie. Truer words were never spoken.

I am tired of watching of this couple and this time advance was indeed just to show us how Pablo and Esme are not only worshiping at Lo's sagging ass cheeks, but they're making the children watch and that is the worst kind of violent novela porn EVER.

I'll end on two positive notes. David. I would like R & D to develop a special nano anvil that can be easily sipped in a martini or even inhaled or applied with face cream. No. How's this idea inspired by your characterization of this show: A nano anvil that can be applied to Lo's toilet paper thus entering the tract which usually assists in the excretion of waste. I'd like the anvil to slowly but steadily expand with a persistently worsening burning sensation until the whole body cavity is filled and it exits every available orifice with an explosive and deafening BOOM!

Cost is no object.

My second positive note is to second Diva's motion:

Bring on the nookie!

I think I figured out why Virginia I had to die. There's no way she would let Lo get away with mistreating the kids. And she was the only one with the spine to stand up to Lo.

Diva, honey, no, no, don't try to make sense of it. LA GATA shouldn't be standing for what she's doing to these kids! I won't be surprised if they kill off little Virginia. Let's see: the disease gets progressively worse in successive generations, not requiring pregnancy but rather menarche. They'll advance about four years so little Virginny can have her first period and DIE!

Nope, she should be all claws out, "Nobody messes with my kids!" and instead she's all kicked kitty "Please love me."

What's with the "I've got to make it easier on Pablo" crap? Because of their financial problems? Well, maybe if he, Mariano, and Esme had all been paying better attention, they wouldn't be having "financial problems." So screw "Pablo needs peace." Pablo ain't doing anything that requires peace. All he's doing is walking around with a constipated look on his face!

Which makes me remember Augie's Outhouse of Thinking. Like father, like son, I guess.

Diva, have you ever seen a novela that inspired so many defecationesque analogies?

You know what? I think Maite and Daniel are tired of this thing, too. They both seemed to be phoning in their performances yesterday. Even Maite's upward and formerly piercing gaze and attempts to meeoowww fiercely seemed tired.

Maybe it's me.

It's not just you. They're both down to 1 facial expression each and they're milking it for all it's worth. I feel like I'm looking at 2 people who just finished running a marathon...and then realized they parked their cars a mile away.

Hey, I'm not the one who decided a roll of TP hanging from the ceiling would be, like, totes appropriate in Augie's kidnap shack! Nor am I the one who chose to shoot certain conversations with the roll of TP just over someone's shoulder as if to say "Get it? Get it?"

Poor crew. Maybe the TP roll was a cry for help.

You're right. They've invited the doo doo and ca ca comparisons!

Howdy Peeps of the Patio!

tofie-what a fabulous comment. I think you've explained perfectly why we have grown so weary. I don't think these final episodes are any different from the earliest episodes. Nothing is different and while I know TNs are formulaic, from beginning to end there is at least a little character development!

(Of course, I am a completely unsophisticated watcher. I like pretty shoes and dresses.)

Lila-thanks for the hug! We all need it. I love the nano anvil. I really hope David and gringo can get on that. Maybe we could do a kickstart campaign to raise funds.

Diva- Augie's outhouse of thinking. LOL!

gringo, do you have any influence at all with Esmeralda? Please help this poor woman see what is going on. If not get the anvils lined up. The Peeps are depending on the men to handle this.

Is it too late to start a "Go-Fund-Me" campaign where each of us donates even a scintilla of our unused brain power and designate the recipients to be (in this order): Natalie LaTurd-doo-doo, La Maldita Gata (this is what I'M calling her now, until she gets her caca together) and Pablum?

I put Pablum last because even though he is the one who needs the most brains, I'm afraid that if he receives too much brain power too fast, his head would explode. Besides, he probably wouldn't know what to do with it and he'll just scream, hold his head and run crying to his mommy.

Speaking of gringo - I just want to tell him again that despite my dislike of Esme, I am forever true to Maite. In fact part of my anger at Latoodle is for doing wrong by Maite and giving her a crap script and a crap galán.

But this did well in Mexico so that makes me glad for Maite.

I want to see her in a role like she had in Cachito. She plays the young professional well.

Anon4:26- that's a great idea! I completely agree with your decision for Pablum. He needs baby brain steps.

Is it possible it did so well in Mexico because word of mouth got around at the water cooler like, "Oh-My-God-This-is-THE-WORST-Novela-In-History-I-Can't-Believe-This-Crap---Kill-Me---Kill-Me-Now!" And like looky-loos at the scene of an accident, everyone flooded to see what the mass suicides were all about?

That's plausible. And the money-makers don't care why it's getting ratings, they just care that it's getting ratings.

I can totally see that. CI had big numbers too and I remember watching CI and thinking "how did it generate such ratings?"

It has to be the train wreck rubberneck effect.

Gata Peeps! Caray! I don't know what to say, except my deepest sympathies. I really can't believe how these writers have beaten a dead horse for nearly 20 telenovela years now, with multiple time jumps. Hang in there. It's almost over!

Hi everyone!

There is a sneak peek for Sombra available on Hulu.

http://www.hulu.com/la-sombra-del-pasado

Thanks, Mauricio but I'm skeered to look! Yikes!

Thank you, Vivi! One more week and we're freeeeeee!!!!

Hey Vivi! I've learned my lesson that's for sure!

Hey thanks Mauricio!

Lila I think I'm gonna write a song.

Ding dong this show is done!
It's really done!
It's really done!
Ding dong this crap is really done!

Hi Ho La Toodle - oo

Sing it HIGH

Sing it low

Ding Dong this crappy show is done!

It's gone where the bad shows go

below, below, below

and we don't have to recap anymore!

Ding Dong this show is done

Which old show?

This crappy show!

Ding Dong the crappy show is DONE!
**********

Sing it Sara! Thanks for the inspiration!

Great job Lila!

Sara- Ditto on Maite playing more roles like Renata Landeros. I remember her and ManeCachito's meeting scene:

She was roller skating then fell on her keister and he started laughing then helping her up. That was actually funny.

I really liked Cachito. I was so glad Uni aired it. Granted it was in the afternoon and wasn't covered on Caray, but it really was good.

Mauricio- I just watched about 4 minutes of that sneak peek (about a minute and a half of which was the opening credits.)

WOW. Great production value.

I'm probably going to wait until the 16th to watch any more though. I want to get the full effect in premiere night. :)

Thanks Sara---Wow, we sure have a lively group out on the patio this weekend.

Diva---A new word for me and I totally love it---dumbassery
'
In answer to Diva and Emeraldrose's request to do something and save this girl. I'm thinking that at this point, it's just impossible.

When CI was being ripped to shreds night after night, I did all that I could do to defend Maricruz. I usually had a long reach or had to stretch things a long way but it wasn't impossible.
An example---Maricruz had been loosing large amounts of money and was told that it was her foreman, a friend that she had since childhood that was stealing from her. Maricruz did nothing about it. Ok---I reasoned that Maricruz just couldn't believe that someone she had known all of her life, played with, grew up with, could/would do that to her and so she blocked it out of her mind and refused to believe it and therefore allowed the theft to continue. A stretch yes, unlikely yes but not an impossibility. There were other examples that would also be unlikely but possible.

The gringo would like more than anything to help Maite/Esmeralda but I'm not a magician and I can't do the impossible. I'm throwing in the towel because there is no hope.

If I give you my beautiful 1&1/2--
2 carat diamond wedding ring, will you be nice to me? WHAT!!!!!
That's it, I'm finished, there's no hope, absolutely no hope for dumbassery.

I know that like all of us, Maite needs to work to pay the bills. I just hope that La Gata hasn't ruined her reputation as an actress. If it has, well she still has a velvet voice of an angel.
the gringo

gringo, that's the saddest thing ever.

I can tell you this show hasn't ruined her for me, but I'll definitely be frowning in the general direction of Dan Arenas and Marcelo Cordoba from now on.

Giselle Gonzalez and Roberto Gomez Fernandez (Para Volver a Amar, Cachito de Cielo, ECDLP and YNCELH) are thrown on the back-burner for Murfia (Mundo de Fieras, Triunfo de Diarrhea, etc) and NastyDooDoo (Corazon Insoportable and La Caca.)

I for one nominate Murf and DooDoo to be impeached while Rob'n'Elle get some lovin' and a better time slot.

La Malquerida's Guero Castro is a 1st Class Maestro. He has shown he has a brain and uses it.

Juan Osorio is a piece of work but is funny when you least expect it.

Emilio Larrosa... I'll get back to him.

Angelli Nesma is hit or miss but she knows Anvils like the back of her hand. She needs more comedies.

Rosy Ocampo and Lucero Suarez are sweet treats.

MaPatcha is an oldie but a goldie. Love her! I think the only reason she isn't well known is because she hasn't had primetime since Juan Querendon and Piel de Otono.

Carlos Moreno is beautiful but treated like the red-haired step-child.

Ignacio Sada Madero needs training.

Nicandro Diaz was at his peak with Amores Verdaderos. Now I just wanna see Marjorie de Sousa as a good girl in a noir novela and Lucero Suarez comedy.

I ADORE Pedro Damian but he is even more of a red-headed step kid than Carlos Moreno.

Emilio Larrosa (and Nasty DooDoo actually) leaves me feeling like Squidward at the end of the Spongebob episode Squid's Visit. If you skip to the end, you'll know what I mean.

I generally don't like Televisa's tn's from 2006 onward because of their ridiculousness, and that is coincidentally when Mejia and Lartilleux got power, but I heard this one was gonna be a big stinker so I didn't even try to watch. The last current Televisa novelas I watched were Mentir Para Vivir and La Que No Podia Amar. I could MPV because of Ms Zarattini, who at least knows how to be brief, and knows how to write well as she was a writer on the original Corazon Salvaje; LQNPA was good because of Jorge Salinas and Ana Brenda's chemistry and Susana Gonzalez's stellar acting.

I just watched the Hulu snippet of La sombra del pasado--thank you Mauricio--and it appears they are sticking closely to the original "El Manantial", which I loved. However, I don't have good hopes for it because, for one, Carla Estrada is still alive and kicking; why could they not at least bring her on to redo her own work especially when Televisa's writers are so off-the-mark? Two: I don't like the look of the protas. Mauricio Islas and Adela Noriega were great actors who could play lloron/a really well without annoying an audience. And the story in this tn is very tragic and actually requires a lot of crying. I doubt the new protas could do the same since they look so young and inexperienced. I don't think they have the heft that Mauricio and Adela did. It seems they put so many experienced people around the protas in order to keep the production value of the novela up.

The waterfall that the two main families will be fighting over was spectacular, though. They call it "El sanctuario" in this instead of "El Manantial" (the spring) because it is so majestic.

I just really think Televisa needs to give Zarattini, Carla Estrada, and Rosy Ocampo more space to do novelas since they know what they're doing. The Mejias, for the most part, put out garbage.

I'm interested in recapping, though, for Fridays only. I think I could add good insight since I saw all of the original.

Ok. I just watched the last two episodes on ffwd. Mainly just to see the fashions. Esme, Sil, and Jarocha definitely won out in the time jump fashion contest. I guess for Pablo anything is better than the hoodie and tennies look. Maite owns the pencil skirt and pumps combo. Those baby doll dresses they had her in for most of the th were unflattering and made her look boxy, instead of fabulously curvy like she looks in the longer pencil skirts.

Pablo Jr. is being played by Erika B's (Blanca) real son. So her son is playing her grandson. Carlos 2 is one of the hat kids from Por Siempre. All the kids are cute.

I don't know what that building with astroturf standing in for the new homes of the landfill folks is, but it was NOT the school in Por Siempre nor the orphanage in Querida Enemiga. Those were old, two level, traditional style buildings, that surrounded and enclosed courtyard. Not this modern monstrosity.

I have nothing to say about the plot, except to shake my head.

Oh gringo! I hope I didn't misunderstand you. I get your frustration, but you will still watch and stay on the patio won't you? I love reading your comments. David needs you. It's the busy season for the anvil factory.

Corazón - I always enjoy reading about TN production. Thanks for that info. I've never seen a MaPat production, so I'm looking forward to La Sombra.

J desde NYC- Lila is recapping Fridays, but I doubt she'll mind sharing (Lila I apologize for speaking for you.) Kat/5ft Diva is the team leader. You could contact her or the blog mom. The more the merrier.

Now if only I could talk Mauricio into coming on board... Lol

Jarocha (the Caray commenter) said the new version is pretty good. She did say it took a little bit for the leads to really get into the roles though. I'm willing to give them a shot because Televisa really needs to get some fresh faces.

The more non Televisa productions I watch, the more I dislike Televisa.

Vivi I think gringo was talking about the exterior of the Institute where Virginia 2.0 goes to school.

Diva- I hate to say it but Dan and Marcelo are dead to me as well. And that hurts me.

Here's what Jarocha had to say about the new one :

"I like it, I saw parts of El Manantial so I remember certain events but I think the old fans won't be as mad as I was while watching Abismo de Pasión and seeing the storyline from Cañaveral de Pasiones get ruined. At least not yet from the episodes I'm currently watching.

The older generation is great (we've seen their work before so I expected nothing less) and the young ones are ok. Renaud takes a moment to really get into character but I think she settles quite well as the episodes go on. Lyle is a little green but not too bad and he is cute (he's not Mauricio Islas though) and I like the town they are using, it reminds me of my dad's hometown.

Jarocha"

So as long as a story is not ruined *cough*LaGata*cough* I'm usually ok with remakes. Then again I've never seen any of the originals of anything. Lol.

I too am glad to see new/younger actors get a chance to get plumb roles. Both Televisa and Telemundo have the problem of showing the same faces over and over in the leads. Plus, the surrounding characters usually give the veteran actors enough meat to chew on.

One of the things I liked about DQTQTQ was the younger cast. Uni left a lot of it on the cutting room floor, but Abdul, Al, and Pierre Louis are some faces I want to see more.

I've enjoyed Lucero Suarez productions because she has a nice balance of new and old faces and she keeps it interesting to watch.

Uli on QA is another young face I hope gets more roles.

Funny, but it just occurred to me that of the females (Renata Nothing, Gaby Mellado, Geraldine Galvan to name a few) no one really jumps out. Are they just giving them more boring roles or are they just not giving performances that hook me.

Sara and Diva, I too am so disappointed in Daniel Arenas. I realize he is just playing a part. I loved his hawt self in AC, but he has lost his appeal after this mess. Just give me more hot padre.

Good to see all you peeps at coffee this a.m.

And gringo, I do appreciate your efforts to talk some sense into Esme.

I am so done with Danny. When I saw him jump out as that mime and his big ole head, face paint and trademark grin up close any hotness, for me evaporated. Hotness and his good hair covered for lack of talent. He's a bad actor.

When Pablo begin to remember things, and ostensibly in pain holding his head, it was so unbelievable, I had flashbacks when my brother used to goldbrick when we were kids to stay home from school. He was never successful.

Marcelo took a big tumble off the pedestal I had him off after playing El in DQTQTQ. He and Cynthia Klitbo, as it wrapped up, saved that show. Oh, and the little girl that played Lupita, Fernanda Sasse.

Yes, please, anyone who's interested in recapping Sombra, email me (the address is in my profile). We do have a full team, but if people are willing to share days and we can agree on a schedule, then the more the merrier.

*sigh* Five to go.

emeraldrose - I'm kind of famous for my harping and I always love the opportunity to do so. Willy is absolutely the best character I've seen in a TN. I'm afraid the Dan's brilliance in that role was a sham. He hasn't been decent in anything else I've seen him in.

tofie - Lupita was da bomb. I miss that kid.

I maintain that Dan really IS Willy Boy. He was just being himself and they captured that. The only other time I've seen him was in Teresa and I thought there was a lot of brow-furrowing-as-a-substitute-for-acting going on there as well. If I could just have a few hours alone with him, we could explore the other facets of his personality and I swear, I could turn him into a decent actor!

Kat! You're a married woman!

Or did you really mean acting lessons? :-P

I swear I meant an acting lesson! Although...if Dan is really Willy Boy...and we all saw Willy Boy in action...that could be a dangerous proposition! One "chula" and a little whistle and I'm done for!

Okay, finally arriving for coffee on the patio.

Am so bummed out by this mess I actually tried to commit "spoiler-cide" this morning. However none of the websites I visited actually detailed the finale.

In Memorium:
Just as infuriating to me as Virginia's senseless death is the non-event of Principe's demise. That could have been an inspiring moment for Esmeralda. As in: "Principe, you've been my faithful companion all these years, from the depths of the basurero to the dizzying heights of the El Sil mansion, putting up with those pesky miniature babies, keeping the rats at bay, never complaining. I have gained so much from your loving and loyal companionship. I'm sorry about all the times I threw you over my arm like a purse, held onto you to tightly during my soliloquies, etc. I hope to see you at the Rainbow Bridge, dear Principe, and by then I hope I'm a wiser, better human who deserves your friendship".

Sniff, sniff.

J in Oregon

"Spoiler-cide"...J! I'm cracking up! I'm so glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read that or you would owe me a new keyboard. I don't know whether to be happy or sad for you that you couldn't find any spoilers.

"Sniff, sniff," indeed. Your imagined send-off was perfect for our underappreciated feline.

"spoiler-cide" Just spewed my Grapico.

Let me go finish reading that comment.

J in O you are freaking hilarious. (By the way, I am constantly in search of a great picture of a pear half in red jello. I would love to make it my avatar.)

*sniff*
Oh that was beautiful, J in Oregon.

I have a question.

We've had the wedding and now we have the "what happened after" (a la Al diablo and AdP)

What the hell else can be in the FIN????????

Lots of death? Incarceration? More babies?

*snort*

I hope the do a LQLVMR and we get a funeral and we don't know who the hell it is until the last minute. I can totally see Latoodle stealing that idea.

And dog no babies. Eseme and DAn do NOT need to breed.

What about a happy ending for Mariano?

Oh, they're having more babies, I can just feel it. Because they're already married, so they can't get married again as the "broche de oro" so instead Esme's going to give Pablo the through-the-eyelashes look and tell him they're having another set of twins. And we're all going to (figuratively) look at each other in confusion because those two haven't even been talking, much less doing anything that would result in the manufacture of additional tiny humans.

1. Thanks for the new vocab and

2. Damn. We should have all known where this was heading when Esme fainted all those episodes ago and we were all trying to figure out what the hell....

Hahaha, never mind that it happened 10 years ago. Little details like that have never stopped Latoodle before!

They did gloss over the fainting that time, didn't they? Creeps! Just leaving a detail like that hanging out there, flapping in the breeze. Why do it at all? It served no narrative purpose. It didn't even interrupt an important conversation or anything. Bah!

Overheard out in the boondocks of Viewerville:

Child: Mommy, is Grandma being bad?

Mom: Why do you ask?

Child: She's holding her head and screaming. She said what-did-I-do-to-deserve-this-punimesh!

Mom: Punimesh? Oh, punishment. No, baby, she's not being punished, well unless she's punishing herself by sticking with it. She's watching her novela.

Child: What's a no-bell-a?

Mom: It's a television show, a soap.

Child: Like Dove soap?

Mom(distracted): Sure, now go play.

The kid goes to his grandmother, just in time to hear her mutter,

Grandma: So help me, if I had that Natalie LaTurd-loo in front of me I would slap some sense into her.

Child: Gramma, why you watching a telebishon show about Dove soap, that's so boring!

Gran: About Dove soap? No, baby, I'm not wa-- never mind. But if I were, it would probably be more exciting, for sure. This is about ... I don't know what it's about any more!

Child: Are there good guys?
Gran: Yes, but they're all stupid!
Child: Gramma! You said a bad word!
Gran (under her breath): You ain't heard nothing yet!
Child: Are there bad guys and they chase the good guys and the good guys win and the bad guys get zapped and the good guys live happy ever after and get the treasure?
Gran: Not exactly. In this one the bad guys are also stupid but the good guys are worse. There are no car chases, well there was one, way back when, but there's no treasure, well just Principe, but he's gone off the radar. And the imbecil de LaToodle doesn't know when to leave well enough alone, she keeps beating this dead horse over and over.
(Door slam)
Child: Yay! Daddy's home!
Dad: Hey, Squirt, what's up? Whatcha up to?
Child: Nuttin' just watching a telebishon show about Dove soap with Grandma and the stupid bad guys are winning the stupid good guys and the Nasty Doo Doo lady is mean and she killed a horse with her stick and the Prince got mad and went away because there is no treasure. Daddy, can we take Gram offa time out and go get her some ice cream!

Dad (thoroughly confused): HUHH??

Gran: Believe me, the child is making more sense than this BS I'm watching!
Child: BEES? There are bees too? Are they giant bees and they chase the bad guys and sting them and .....

Dang, Anon. Come outta the shadows and let's meet you! You're a riot all by yerself!

Bees, huh? Well, we've had a cat, a snake, junkyard dogs, a horse, a donkey (?)...I'm not sure we have anything left in the budget for bees, but if we can make them an anvil, I might be able to pitch it.

I just Googled ice cream cocktails and found this:

http://www.brit.co/spike-your-sweets-5-classic-cocktail-ice-cream-floats/

Grown-up ice cream for gramma? Hey, I'm not a grandma and I want some! They all sound good, except the French 75. I'm not a gin drinker. Lo would be all over that, though...I just have a feeling.

I totally see Lo as a gin drinker.

We need a mixologist to come up with specialty drinks for each character. Like "The Big Beads" for Lo...something like a sangria with frozen grapes for the "beads." The "Roundy Roundy" for Augie. The "Duh" for Pablo...makes you wake up the next morning with no idea who you are.

Anonymous....loved your take on this. My son, who does not speak Spanish, dropped by one evening while I was watching and asked what the show was about. I told him damned if I knew. Even if it got all of the conversations it still wouldn't make any sense.

I don't even bother to try to explain it to Hubs.

Finally I get to sit down for the rest of the afternoon.
Yes Sara, I will still be watching
and will keep my seat out on the patio but the thrill is gone, it
has vanished. There isn't any joy left. Dumbassery isn't a strong enough word to describe this ridiculous mess.

Back to CI for a minute. Maricruz
father died and left her with a huge mansion and five? casinos to run. She also had a big rancho and all that went with it. Things went well for a while but Maricruz had too many things to take care of. She left her businesses to others to run for her. She trusted her managers to
take care of things---they didn't
By the time she realized what was happening, it was too late. She lost them all. Unlikely yes but not impossible. Rich people in business go broke from not paying attention or from making errors.
It actually does happen, not often but it does happen.

Now this time we have Esmeralda.
Hateful people bring false charges against her and with the help of a false DNA and a crooked judge her darling children are taken away from her. Later the evil people are caught trying to dispose of the babies leaving them to starve to death or be eaten by rats. The evil ones (one of them is Lowrenza) are caught red handed but are the police called? No, not on your life. Ok
one would have to prove criminal intent, attempted murder but they didn't even try. Then after all of that, some time later, Esme lets the attempted murderer take care of her son. There is no way one can comprehend that. Maricruz you could you could stretch a little bit and give the benefit of the doubt but there is no benefit of the doubt that you can give to Esme. NONE! DAMNIT NONE!!

I did love to see Augie coming back---David, spirits for the spirit. That's a home run.

Tofie---Leti, I'm never getting married. LOL Can you blame her?

A nano toilet paper infused anvil
I love it. I'm sending that idea over to Research and Development
right away. No time to waste on
this. We'll start production as soon as R&D sends an ok.

Sara---I have never seen Willie Boy or Lupita. What novela were they in?
the gringo

If mine strolls by, I just get the eyebrow but one time we were at the airport, I was watching on my phone, and was huffing, he looked, saw I was watching gata and moved.

Willy Boy was in Amorcito Corazón and Lupita was in De Qué te quiero te quiero.

You've got me thinking gringo. Maricruz was hell bent on venganza and it caused her a lot of pain. Esme is hell bent on forgiving everyone and it is also causing her a lot of pain.

And you're right. It is really hard... Strike that....it's IMPOSSIBLE to to justify what Esme is doing.

It's kind of sad how the main reason I am disliking her so much because she's willing to just take all this abuse and not really fight back. If she does fight back, she seems so ineffectual.

gringo--Willy Boy was Dan Arenas' character in Amorcito Corazon. He was a gigolo (ok, maybe that's a little extreme) and a fitness instructor and he charmed a novice out of her habit before she took her vows. He was funny, flirty, an overgrown boy in a loveable way.

Lupita was the youngest sibling of the protagonist in De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero. She is one of the few non-annoying child characters I've ever seen. She was smart and a bit of a schemer and kind of no-nonsense "Seriously, grown ups? Lemme fix it..." I loved the hell outta that character and whenever anyone made her cry, I wanted to kick them in the shins.

"Esme is hell bent on forgiving everyone and it is also causing her a lot of pain."

True. Rita, Monica, Lorenza. At least she hasn't decided she needs to "forgive" Gisela!

Esmeralda has Maricruz beat by a mile and never dreamed I would say that. When she went to see the boy and Lo stood in front of the door I lost it. She's Lo's doormat and lets her mistreat Leti to make her husband happy, because she loves the fool.

I actually gave Maricruz a pass when she ended up broke, she tried to help the poor folks and blew a bunch of it but when she hooked up with Alfonzo, the wanna be painter, the woman lost it. I still think something was going on between she and Alfonzo and why she was so insistent she remain in prison out of shame, even after she was tricked into saying she didn't murder the guy.

Diva, she would probably forgive Gisela if she asked. She's that brainless. And Pablo would go right along with it. And Fernando would pay for more psychiatric treatment and they would all agree that HatBro is the onliest one qualified to provide it.

The saddest thing about your comment Anon7:30 is how I can really see Latoodle doing something like that.

Ugh! HatBro...there's another pushover. He's so in love with Gi that he hopes to make her love him by getting revenge on Esme...at which point, she thinks she'll get her hands on Pablo. Which she's said. Out loud. Does he need someone to draw him a picture?

Vicky can do it!

Speaking of Vicky... Where have I seen her before? Have we already discussed it and I've forgotten.

Ah, Vicky. I think a stick figure drawing with some thought bubbles should be manageable for her. Or she could splash some red paint on a canvas and tell him that's what's going to be left of him if he doesn't quit helping Gi.

Oh, now, why did I say that? That's going to piss me off, if this relative newcomer has to pay with his life and Lo and Gi just end up in jail. Or worse--don't end up in jail.

Right Tofie---Even when Maricruz was going broke, she still tried to help the poor people. Did they appreciate it? I don't know but I don't think she was wanting thank you's. She did it because she really cared.

Alfonso and Mari? I never was convinced about that but who knows, the reason that she wanted to stay in jail was never revealed
I'm not even sure that Ms. Toodle-oo knew why.

But yes, you could give Maricruz a pass on several things but Esmeralda is hopeless. Pablo is too if that means anything. Should these two be allowed to reproduce?
the gringo

J in Oregon, I did commit "spoiler-cide" last night, but I can't reveal the source. And, I can't reveal what I learned. And who knows if it was accurate anyway? I may still watch just to support the recappers.

Willy-boy's charms (along with my liking Ana Brenda) lured me into CI. Daniel was a disappointment, but I thought I would give him one more chance. Big mistake.

We've had several snobby socialites in recent TNs, but I think Lowrenza is the most shrill and stupid of them all.

Has there ever been a snobby socialite that is likable? Where we can't tell whether she's a good guy or a bad guy and you root for her either way? I would really like to see that.

Actually, Cayetana on Tierra de Reyes (Telemundo) is looking like that kind of character.

La Paloma and J in O- I have to confess that I've contemplated spoiler-cide.

That is just making me laugh because normally we are all so anti-spoiler. I hate them, but with this show I really want them.

What a odd show. I can't stand it yet I have to watch if only to see what absurdities Ms Latoodle will come up with.

I don't know what I would do without the Patio Peeps.

Good morning, everyone.

Boy, crappy plots and even worse acting and dialogue really stir up the comments, don't they?

I'm just going to pick up all the empty tequila bottles and sucked out lime rinds left over from last night out here on the patio before I start making more anvils.

Lila, I'm having trouble with the nano-sized toilet paper anvil, but I have developed an expanding anvil that can be hidden in an ugly necklace that slowly expands, slowly choking the wearer. This would take several minutes, and would make for great TV viewing in Lorenza's case.

Sara, thanks for offering to help me with knitting, but at the present, I think if I had knitting materials at hand, I would use the yarn to tie people up, and the needles to, uh, well, get rid of some of the cast.

gringo, buck up, amigo, we have lots of anvils still needing completion. We'll worry about ruined reputations after the last anvil has found its mark.

I really think that there is an inverse proportionality relationship between the quality level of a TN, and the brilliance of the comments.

5ft "..bring on the nookie." I have never seen a series that depended less on normal human emotions, including sex drive and sexual activity than this one. Latrilleux seems to delve into all these aberrant, sick motivations, and never incorporate normal ones into the plot.

T-minus 5 episodes and counting! I'm heading out to get some kosher salt for the margarita glasses.

David

David- se lo ruego Please tell me you might be around for La Sombra del Pasado. I enjoy your comments so much. What an interesting thought about normal human interaction. Again I didn't notice. I am such a passive watcher. I'm so glad that there are more active and thoughtful watchers. It really enhances my enjoyment to read the comments.

PS thanks for cleaning up!

Really the whole damn Gata patio is awesome. I admit I will be sad when we have to disperse.

Here's hoping we all jump on the La Sombra bus together. What a fun group to have coffee (and an occasional adult beverage)with. I hate to see us all go our separate ways. I love mornings on the warm, sunny patio and catching up on the latest goings on.

I feel the same emeraldrose!!

Yes, Sara, I'll be with you for la Sombra. Love the way this group chats and supports each other.

David

I will be staying on the patio for La Sombra also. It looks good and with Susana Gonzalez well, it's looking even better.
the gringo

David and gringo- I'm so happy to hear that!! As you know, every show requires anvils. Would you both consider staying in the anvil biz?

gringo-you and I can gush over Susana together. I still miss PSMA because she was so good in it.

David and gringo! The best of both worlds: gringo thinks he can turn out the nano-sized anvil delivered via toilet paper abut I like the expanding choking bead-embedded necklace as well. If finally we can't get the nano-anvil I'm still happy as the bead anvil will still be excruciatingly painful but has a smaller yuck factor for the viewer.

Well done!

David makes a good point about the lack of normal motivations. And Mauricio had mentioned that this show lacked love scenes because it was on during "family" time. Yet the producers/director/network were totally ok with showing child exploitation, kidnapping, attempted rape, drugging, racial slurs, etc., etc., etc. Let's just make sure to keep the hot-and-heavy stuff out of it. Because kids might be watching.

That's a head-scratcher to me.

Excellent point, Diva! What hypocrisy and mixed up "values."
