3/11/15 #144 Hasta el Fin del Mundo; Sorry, kids, WBB didn’t make it to the stage tonight

I'll just head into the new stuff....

Taller de Ripoll – The writing’s on the wall, guapo
Armie/Matias discuss the question of Irais/Jobeth.  Matias tells Armie all about the fracas.  We already saw it yesterday so why do we have to talk about it today?

Armie receives a call from Alexa and she tells him she's not available today because of the movie.  They agree to see each other at the WBB concert.  He notices she doesn't call him guapo and is somewhat hurt by that.  He's sensing more than seeing the writing on the wall.  He tells her Irma caused a little drama but he ignored her.  He doesn't really go into detail.  As they get off the call, it seems as if both are realizing the reality of their situation.

The Chava/Aracely Dance Continues....
Speaking of reality, Chava asks Aracely to stop seeing Sofia as a rival.  She can't, she just can't.  Sofia's mere existence hurts her.  Chava tries another tact, “You say you still love me.  If you do, then naturally you would want what's best for me.  Well, what's best for me now is for you to try to get along with Sofia.”  What a prink (sic), “Don't let the love you feel for others turn into bitterness.  Please return home and don’t cause anyone any more harm.  At least think about it.”

Empresa Ripoll
Pato calls Greta to give her the good news that Sofia won't fire him.  He assumes Greta helped in making this happen but Greta's surprised about it too.  She's agreed to stay on the sidelines.  Sofia and her sisters have forgiven her.  She can only hope their line of communication continues to improve.    Pato's confused and assumes this change in the mother/daughter relationship contributed in saving his job.  Greta's glad Sofia has recognized Pato's value for the company.  Pato assures her he is always at her beck and call and will continue to look after her interests.

Sofia advises Noemi Dani will be assuming Silvana's position.  Noemi says everyone loves Dani and will be at Cuco's to show their support for WBB.

Pato calls his cuz to tell him the good news that he has retained his job without Greta's help.  Renzi thinks Sofia may have realized she needs him now that Silvana is gone.  Renzi advises him not to question his good fortune, or as Renzi put it 'no busques tres pies al gato' (huh?).  Just be happy Sofia is satisfied with Silvana's resignation letter.  Renzi hopes Pato has forgiven him for intervening in the ill-fated marriage to Silvana.  Pato asks about that visit from Armie to Renzi's office.  Nothing is missing, says Renzi.  He's checked his office, his files and everything seems to be in order.  'ecolecua'!  Pato still finds Armie's visit to the office strange.  Renzi agrees to visit the greasy mechanic and ask a few questions.

On Location
Paolo and Alexa shoot their first scene on location and they share their first on scene kiss.  They use the shoot as a press conference to introduce the cast.

Hospital – oy, FF>> if you know what’s good for you!
Sofia decides to join Chava on his visit to the miserable Javier.  I only listen because it's my duty.  Javier just complains about the hospital and his miserable existence.  He's happy they visited him and is so happy to see them so much in love.  gag

Empressa Ripoll
Chava and Sofia return to her office smooching their way in from the hallway (very unprofessional).  He thanks her for coming with him to the hospital.  She tells him she's told Pato he can stay and how surprised he was by her decision.  Chava's impressed with her ability to keep Pato in the dark about her true feelings.  All they can do now is hope that Detective Tavares is able to get the goods on Pato and his Primo.

They talk about lunch and she tells him she wants to have lunch with Paco.  She's concerned Aracely will be there and put a damper on everything but she's ready for her.  He tells her not to worry about seeing her at Paco's. She's shocked to learn Aracely has left Paco's house.

Abarrotes La Union
Lupe thinks this whole trouble with Aracely is temporary and before Paco knows it, she'll be back home.  There is a silver lining:  While Aracely is gone, he can invite Sofia over without any messy altercations.  Paco mentions he's inviting Sofia over for lunch.  Lupe praises his efforts.  He'll see that Aracely will soon come to her senses and realize it is what it is.

Empresa Ripoll
Sofia is sure Aracely only left in order to pressure their father into keeping Sofia away.  Chava tells her not worry her pretty little blonde head over it.  Aracely told him herself that she knows Paco needs to see Sofia but she just doesn't want to be around to see it.  He confesses he went to see her and tried to convince her Sofia isn't her enemy, but her sister.  Of course Aracely didn't listen.  Sofia knows Aracely hates her.  Chava is sure Aracely will come around sooner or later.  Sofia's not so sure.  Sofia gets a call from her father who invites her over for lunch.  Chava's glad to see her smile and tells her he hopes to make her smile later tonight, after the WBB concert.  He has a surprise for her but refuses to tell her.

Irais is grateful for the invitation, but tells Lucas and Marisol she won't be attending the concert.  They convince her to change her mind.

Matias speaks with Jobeth about his disagreement with Irais.  He thinks it was particularly clever of Jobeth to come up with the fake dinner cooking scheme.  Jobeth complains that Irais is very angry.  Matias knows Irais will come around, eventually.  They are sisters after all.  Matias invites his chiquibebe to the WBB concert.

Irma shows up and confronts Armie.  She can't believe Chava took Nandito to Armie by lying to her.  Between the two of them, they convinced the boy to stay with Armie.  Now he won't answer her calls!  Armie can't help it if the boy chooses to stay with him.  Really, what harm is there for Nandito to spend a weekend with him?  Irma argues it will start with a weekend, then a week, and then what?  No, Armie, won’t get away with this just so he can frolic with that chancluda.  Armie tells her she's crazy.  Besides, Alexa's got a lot of other things going on besides being glued to him or their son.  Irma could care less.  She wants Armie to return her son, NOW.  Armie begs her to let him stay the weekend.  She has him all week.  She argues they used to be together, but now she's alone.  He reminds her how he cared for her until he couldn't take it anymore.  And who know how long she faked her inability to walk.  Why can't she give, even just a little?  Irma hasn't heard a thing.  She wants Nandito home now.  As for this weekend, well, she'll think about it.  Armie promises her he'll think about it too.

On Location – Part Deux
At the end of the scene, they kiss again.  Director calls “cut”!  Two reporters comment on what a cute couple they make.  Such chemistry! Surely this is a new romance.  Alexa and Paolo pose for cutesy photos and he moves in for a kiss but she backs away, a little.

Casa de Irma
Irma talks with Aracely over the phone, wondering if Chava convinced her to return to Paco's.  He didn't and Irma warns her she'll be checking on her.  By the way, are they going to the WBB concert?  Aracely's not sure but Irma is pushing her to go.

Casa de Ripoll – Fausto Fashions
Greta tells Fausto she's well aware that Lucas is part of the WBB, but she's happy that Dani has gotten over him and very happy she's now dating Ollie.  She tells him she was surprised to hear he and Lucas are friends.  True, a strange coincidence says Fausto.  They discuss her attire (atuendo) for the concert.  Greta hasn't a clue what to wear but she has heard everyone from the nieghborhood will be there.  Fausto mentions this will surely include Lupe, Paco's new paramour.  He'll plan out her outfit.  She just knows she doesn't want to wear the dress that had Octavio's ring in it.  Anything but that.  Fausto will make sure the ring is returned to the trunk where she had kept it.  He's also made sure that other dress disappears.  Fausto pulls out two dresses for Greta to choose from: an old lady flower print and a stylish black w/white polka dots.  She picks out the black (yay) and Fausto reminds her Paco is sure to be there.

Greta's a little offended he'd think she would go there to rekindle passions that no longer exists.  Fausto is so dramatic.  “Well, there are still embers burning where once a fire burned,” he responds.  He's made her laugh which makes for a nice, sweet scene.  She recovers and reminds him she will always be Octavio Ripoll's widow.

Casa de Paco – Lunch with Father
Paco is very pleased to have Sofia in his home.  It's so cute.  He's so excited and nervous because he hopes she'll like what he prepared.  He's very sad that Aracely isn't there.  Sofia tells him it's ok and that she already knows Aracely left.

Paco had hoped Aracely would be more flexible.  Sofia is sorry that Aracely's resentment and anger toward her are stronger than any other feelings. Paco sadly agrees, saying they're stronger even than her affection toward him.  He doesn't want Sofia to feel backed into a corner like he does.  Sofia offers to step aside until Aracely accepts, or assimilates.  But Paco won't hear of it.  He's just found her and refuses to stay away from her.  He wants to be with her and recover all that time he wasn't able to be with her.  Sofia doesn't want to cause problems and cause him to sacrifice anything else.  Paco prays Aracely will come around.  He begs Sofia not to stay away.  That's not what he wants.  She thanks him and through tears, she tenderly kisses his forehead as he holds her hand.  Aw, so tender.

Before she leaves, Sofia tells Paco he is a grand ol' dad.  Better than she ever expected.  Will she see him at the concert?  He plans to attend and wonders if Greta will be there.  She confirms Dani invited her.  Paco didn't think she'd agree to come to the 'hood.  Sofia shares that this experience has caused her mother to reflect and become more....human.  This has allowed her daughters to see her in a different light, as a woman who suffered much because of a young love.  She asks if it's true they had an immense love.  Paco says yes, “That type of love comes only once in a lifetime.”  They hug, and they both shed a few tears.

Casa de Chava
Lucas has joined the family for lunch.  He hates to eat and run but he promised Ollie he'd meet him early to set up the groovy sound and lighting system Ollie's brining to the WBB concert.

Matias announces he'll be going to the concert with his new “novia”.  Marisol is sad to learn it isn't Irais.

Armando arrives and asks Chava if they're going to work on Patotas this weekend.  Chava can't cuz he's planned a surprise for Sofia.  The talk gets serioius when Chava asks about the Irma situation.  Armando explains she wants him to return Nandito.  He doesn't know what's gonna happen but he knows he doesn't want Nandito going back and forth.

Casa de Irma – EEK!
Renzi has appeared at Irma's door!  He asks how she's feeling, how's her memory.  Irma nervously tells him her memory still has lapses and may never be recovered.  She tries to get him to leave but he wants to speak with her husband.  He tells her Armie visited his office, saying he was finally interested in selling this property.  Irma is shocked and angry.  No way is Armando gonna take the roof over her head.  This is home to her and her son!

Well, this is her home and she's not budging no matter what Armando does.  Renzi tells her to chill.  He only came by to confirm whether or not Armando is interested in selling so he could make him an offer.  That's all.  Oh, Irma is huffing and puffing!  “If that jerk is plotting to leave me with nothing, he's not going to get away with it!”  Renzi tells her he's just doing his job.  If Armie wants to sell, well he needs to negotiate.  Irma tells him no once again and tells him to leave.  Renzi tells her it's nothing personal and it was so nice to see her.  He's sure he'll be seeing her again.  Irma rudely tells him not to bother.  He leaves Irma fuming, “It's bad enough I have this forgetfulness (desmemoriada) about Renzi.  Now Armando wants to sell the house!”

On Location
Director is very pleased with their performance and with the reaction of the press.  He tells them they noticed the chemistry between them.  Paolo assures him the chemistry isn't an act and Alexa readily agrees.  Once they're alone, Paolo asks her out to dinner but of course Alexa has to go to the WBB concert.  Paolo invites himself but wonders how Armando will react.  Alexa doesn't see why he'd be bothered; they're just working buddies after all.  He kisses her (on the cheek) and agrees to see her later.  Alexa looks little worried.

Casa de Ripoll
Fausto encourages Greta to wear whatever she'd like.  No one is telling her what to wear.  (not the fowered print, not the flowered print) but she must remember to explore new horizons without concerning herself with what others will say (not the flowered print, not the flowered print).  She chooses.........the flowered print! (damn!)  But she's happy and that's what matters.

Casa de Paco
Sofia and Paco are still crying.  Paco says it's no use talking about a past love.  Sofia says their love left its mark on Greta.  Paco thinks otherwise.  “For Greta, our love was her Big Sin and a big mistake.  For Greta it was a torment to have fallen in love with someone like me.  But for me, loving her was the happiest thing life has given me.  To be honest, all those feelings I had for your mother, debating between love, the hurt, resentment, betrayal; it all prevented me from loving a good woman, Aracely's mother.  Aracely will never forgive me for that.”  Sofia knows he gave his wife all the love and affection that Greta also gave to Octavio.  Paco agrees, “I assume Greta did the same as me.  We learned to love another person.  Just like I've now learned to love Lupita, who is a great companion and a great friend.  But I will never again feel the great passion that I felt with your mother.”

Comments:
Well, tonight's episode wasn't nearly as bad as last night. I only screamed at the TV once, when Matias was talking to Armie and then to Jobeth. Really, what a waste of this actor's talents.

I loved the scenes with Paco and Sofia. I cringed when Paco described Lupe as a good companion and buddy. True, young love can leave a lasting impression but one learns from the past and moves on. He hasn't moved on and has allowed all those feelings of betrayal fester to the point where there was always a black hole in his heart. I find that very sad. I certainly hope he doesn't tell Lupe she's a good buddy. Yeesh!

Looking forwad (not!) to WBB's performance.

Thank you Paquita.

Just a notice and NO SPOILERS- in Mexico, anvils are dropping, they're dropping.

"Taller de Ripoll – The writing’s on the wall, guapo."(Fave.)

If there's any problem with the notice, comment ASAP and I'll remove it. I only brought it up because us carayers following this show really do need some notice if it's going to be going on until Mother's Day.

Thanks, Paquita. The recap was very much fun. I also liked: "the writing's on the wall, guapo."

CorazonSalvaje, thanks for giving us some hope that there will be anvils. Mother's Day!!! Very funny.

Loved Armando telling Irma: "Estás mal, Irma." Pointing to his own forehead. Now she knows that he knows that she is nuts.

Questions:

Paolo is that big of a deal of an actor and they have him and Alexa crawling over a gate/fence of that height?

Why do all of Greta's dresses seem to be the same style just different fabric?

How long before Aracely follows Irma's suggestion and sues Chocolates Ripoll for the stolen recipes?

Will Silvana resurface? Where did she go?

Will Benito ever make a guest appearance?

When will the "bearer of good news Renzi" pay Irma another visit?

The WWB concert should be hellish. Can't wait!

Jarifa

Paquita, I smiled at the title. I so enjoyed the recap, especially your titles including "The writing’s on the wall, guapo" and "Hospital – oy, FF>> if you know what’s good for you".

ITA with you in that Julio/Matias' talents are being wasted. I went on a bit of a rant about it yesterday ;)

I have to admit I got a little misty watching Sophia and Paco. Cesar Evora is an excellent actor, I believed every word and tear. I don't see him with Lupe but honestly, too much time and too many things have transpired over the years to convince me that he and Greta should be together. Greta moved on with her life long ago, Paco needs to do the same.

So glad Pato and Renzi have mended their fences. SO realistic that although Renzi almost got Pato and the woman he "loves" almost killed, they bury the hatchet and are "best buds" again.

Jarifa, I also hope we see Benito ere the end - just to ensure he is living a good life.

JoBeth needs an ANVIL big time & Matias is getting PLAYED FOR A FOOL by her!

Ditto on Yovet suffering. She needs to be bitch-slapped two ways up. Can we send her (AND GRETA GOD WILLING) down the eerie canal in the same coffin please? I hate her, end of story.

Thanks for the recap Paquita.

I was curious as to how Paco would handle the situation with Arecily. I'm glad he's deciding to spend time with Sofia anyway, but he doesn't seem to be fully enjoying it because of Arecily's actions.

Jarifa, I couldn't agree more. I saw them climbing that fence and i'm talking to the misses and I said, "What the hell? That fence doesn't look safe and why would they risk their safety climbing that big thing?" The preview made it seem like they continued kissing after the director yells "cut" but alas that didn't happen.

I may be in the minority but I would like to see Paco and Greta reunite. I think Sofia would like that also as she is dropping hints about her mothers changes to Paco during lunch.

I'm a late comer but i have question. Did Paco ever battle with Ripoli chocalates over his recipes? and if so did he and Sofia ever engage in any words about it?

Bryan: no, Paco never sued; even refused when Aracely tried to get him to sue. Then recently Paco made a HUGE mistake and it could be a game changer. In trying to emotionally support and prove his love for his daughter Aracely, he legally signed over ALL of his property to her. So, now she has legal standing to sue Ripoll over the recipes and it would not matter what Paco would want anymore. Paco is not too smart. It was not as if he were terminally ill or anything. Irma is constantly pushing Aracely to sue as a matter of revenge on the Ripolls. She did it again last night.

Jarifa

Paquita- Many thanks, amiga! Wonderful recap.

I very much enjoyed the scenes with Paco and Sofia.

Bryan- Aracely is being passive aggressive and knows very well that her attitude means that Paco can't fully enjoy his time getting to know Sofia. She's determined to spread her misery around.

As for what happened to the case of the stolen chocolate recipes, Paco did a long time ago confront Sofia about them, showed her the recipe book, and told her Master Chocolatier Coria and her papa Octavio stole them from him. Even after proving that his recipes in his own hand were indeed the recipes Coria had used, Sofia still refused to believe it. However, Paco never intended to sue or do anything like that. He just wanted the truth acknowledged. But then Pato, in his plan to ruin the company, let the info slip to the press, the company got in major trouble, Paco felt bad about causing so much trouble for Sofia, and he backed off and publicly retracted his assertions that the recipes were his.

Right now, Sofia somehow believes that her father Octavio was not a chocolate recipe thieving, girlfriend and baby stealing jerk, although all signs point to that. And I think Paco doesn't bring it up because he doesn't want to hurt Sofia by telling her the truth about her "sainted" papa.

@Jarifa and @Viv, thank you very much for the info, you've cleared up alot of the background for me. I could see Arecily now sueing. Even though it would be a devious move, it would make for riveting TV. I think at that point Paco would have to make a choice; supporting Arecily's suit, or defending Sofia. Not an eviable position.

Bryan, the other day you asked why I refer to Sophie and Chava as B/Mimbo. Did you see them making out in the hallway and fall into her office as if it were a hotel room? What CEO of a major corporation does that. How are her employees supposed to take her seriously?

Yes, Cyn, I did. I even mentioned to my wife that it's getting out of hand with this lovey-dovey stuff. We get it, they love each other but damn, do we have to see this constantly. It's seems like when the writers need the characters to say something, they're default line is "I love you."

thank you so much Paquita.

So, everybody is butthurt Araceli won't shake the Salvador bug, yet Paco spent the majority of his first lunch with Sofia crying over her mama thirty years removed. You'd think Paco would want to know some personal things about Sofia, ya know, bonding stuff.

Armando is not a free man, though he has tried to act like it, so I don't blame Alexa for moving on. Alexa won't stay with Paolo long either until the wind changes direction and she flutters away.

Way too much PDA between Sofia n Sal, I understand why he wants to mark his territory but one half of Sofia has some class.

Great recap Paquita---loved it but I will have to differ with you on two points. The dress---I
can't stand polka dots. I have never thought that a bunch of dots on a plain background no matter the color was in any way stylish or fashionable. The flower print would be a great choice. Think about it. It's opening night for the WBB. Opening night is a happy, special
occasion like seeing the first pretty Spring flowers after a long cold winter. The beautiful flower print dress goes well with a colorful, happy and festive occasion such as an opening night
White dots on a black background just doesn't cut it. Well, maybe at a cocktail party or someplace else.

The Wonder Bread Band---I am REALLY looking forward to it and was disappointed that we didn't get to see it last night---but, TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT. I am thinking though that the happy opening for the kids won't be so happy as there is bound to be trouble with so many people there
that either don't like each other or have opposing interests. I'm afraid that the bands BIG OPENING
might, just might end up in a disaster that everyone would like to forget.

I am starting to feel sorry for Armando. Paolo is working hard and I don't mean acting to steal Alexa away from him and it looks like he's succeeding.

Must see tv tonight.
the gringo

Tofie---I guess that you are right
about Alexa and the wind changing.
And yes, it is also true that there isn't yet a divorce. Looks like Armando is going to be hurt either way.
the gringo

Gringo, I did mention that Paolo & Alexa were going to be an item!

Yovet...life support system for.......you know...dont want to get banned:-)

Include in October's resume knife wielding, murder threatening

Well Sofia and Chava are grownups by a long shot and have only done the horizontal once in the house they broke into in the rain storm. They are totally in love and must be beside themselves with horny. Maybe that explains all the hall/office kissing.
NOTE to Chava: lock the door unplug the phone shut the blinds and christen her desk right then and there. Now get back to work.

Gringo. ITA on the dress. Black and white stripes would be nice , or maybe something in orange?

Steve: Yaaaa your SWAGs are more accurate than our weather forecasts here in Floriduh. :-)

Steve---Yes, you did call it on Alexa and Paolo.
the gringo

Gringo -- It's not that I don't like flowered prints. I just didn't like THAT flowered print. Just looked too matronly to me, just my opinion.
I think I'm really going to like her new do on tonight's episode, though. Looks cute on her.

Paolo and Alexa -- I thought for sure they were gonna keep kissing after the director called cut. I even typed it ahead on the blog twice! and each time, I had to backspace, ugh. I'm usually wrong when I try to guess what the writers have in store, but I'm sure she and Armando will end up together after a little hiccup over Paolo. She's too gaga over Armando although I do agree with Paolo there's too much baggage with Armie.

As for Greta and Paco -- Their relationship wouldn't have lasted as long as Paco's hurt over their lost love. Greta would have missed the good life and would have made Paco miserable. She would not have been happy as the wife of a shopkeeper. Paco has nursed this love of the girl he loved long ago. Greta is no longer that person. IMHO

Thanks, Paquita. Terrific recap. I so agree "Greta is no longer that person" Paco fell for. It'll be interesting to see if the writers and the actress can pull off Greta rekindling her young self if she and Paco do wind up back together.

I'm hoping Lupe & Paco get together in the end!!!!!

Greta or Vicki Lawrence as "Mama?" You decide.

Anon 1:23 -- THAT'S IT! That's what that flowered print reminds of. Thank you!
