Quiero Amarte (Week 28-Mar 30) Highlights & Discussion
Iván to be rescued successfully
Amaya gets some solid evidence to use against Lucrecia
Labels: amarte
I really enjoyed the post-finale critiques from her and Salvador. Even if you didn't watch it regularly, check out their comments for the last episode. It's good advice for writers, directors and producers of future telenovelas.
And sometimes I can tell from the first few lines of a conversation if I can FF.
Of course, it's very different when one is recapping. I tend to watch EVERYTHING on EVERY episode. But I've noticed with this show that even with my gaps, the recapping hasn't been too hard.
Grande props to the recappers, this is one that really merits a recap and I read them faithfully. I don't usually comment because most of the time others have already said it for me, but I'm always here (lurking).
Leila
I'm like you. I wish it were on primetime, but it is nice to already have a show waiting for me when I get home (especially on Mondays.)
Not to mention the primetime shows usually get more recappers and Lila, Anita, Kelly and Vivi have sometimes had to do double duty. I appreciate their hard work.
Leila
Thank you Leila. For a second I thought it was Lila, accidentally misspelling her name, but then you said you were a lurker.
That's how many of us started out. Lurking, then an occasional Anon comment, then choosing a name and commenting more, then subbing on a tn we have been following and then, ta-da, you are a FULL-Fledged member of CarayCaray.
It's a good start. Please keep commenting, even if it's to add a detail or two or to share with us if you watch telenovelas for fun or "improve" your Spanish or both. We'd love to have another voice on this sometimes lonely patio.
There is a little refrito to start off the episode…..Breaking News: We interrupts this recap to bring you a report that IVAN HAS BEEN RESCUED – THE NIGHTMARE IS OVER – Gracias to Constanza and Mariana, Hector and Max, Amaya and Tadeo, but not the Virgencita this time And thanks also go to Becca for unlocking the door, the cowardess.
But first, there is this: the folks are still at El Paraiso dining. Consta is describing the woman she saw at the clinic to Hector. Mariana realizes immediately she has described Cecy, at the finca WUN where she and Iván were before Uli kidnapped her and “killed” Iván. Hector organizes a rescue party. Mariana insists she has to go, she’s pregnant, not sick. Amaya wants to go with Mariana. Max feels he needs to go. Iván is “mi gente,” and almost like family. After Consta fails to talk him out of it (she doesn’t want him near Amaya—he should stay at El P. with her—Max says her jealousy is showing), she insists on going (the girl has grown tentacles now). Max can’t talk her out of it. After all, she points out, she’s the one who saw a woman matching Cecy’s description in the clinic with someone who looked like Iván. She needs to be there to identify if Cecy at WUN is the same woman (she does have a point).
Meanwhile back at the Stormy Ranch, Cecy pushes more double-dosed sedative on Iván. He tries to resist. He thinks there is something in the medicine that’s keeping him so sleepy. Cecy insists he drink it; it’s to help him stay calm and reduce stress. He is so lethargic at this point he can’t put up much resistance. He swears he thought his mother was there earlier, giving him his medicine. He wants to talk to the doctor. Cecy promises to do just that. Possibly he drank it just to get rid of her and go back to dreaming of his green-eyed beauty with the long curly dark hair.
Hector can’t believe Becca as well as Cecy lied to him when he was there asking about Iván. They both told him they knew nothing of Iván’s whereabouts. When Hector mentions that Becca is Iván’s mother, there is shock and awe around the table, especially Mauro. Mari tells Hector Iván had no idea she was there the whole time they were there. She was introduced as a cousin of Cecy’s mother. Becca and Iván never saw each other. She stayed out of his way. Hector understands her staying away for fear of rejection after abandoning them, but not to share with him that his son was there safe and sound was incomprehensible.
When Mauro says he can’t understand how a mother could do that, Amaya, with a certainty of what she speaks, says there are mothers like that who are selfish and only concerned with their own well-being and not that of their children. She’s talking about Lucrecia, but it goes over everyone else’s head and some might even think it is describing Amaya to a “t.”
Uli has spent the night in Cecy’s office at the WUN. She asks him for his bank account number. Nothing doing, Uli wants his money en efectivo. He’s on the run, needs cash. It’ll take some time to get that much cash. She’s going to leave one of her muchachos to keep an eye on him. On her way out, she tells Tadeo to find someone. He understands she doesn’t want Uli wandering around the finca or finding Iván.
Cecy returns with the cash. It’s about time. Now Uli takes his time because he wants to count every peso she brought him. He doesn’t trust her. She’s pi**ed off because she wants him out of there.
Montesinos Mansion - Mauro’s lawyer has come to proffer Mauro’s latest counteroffer of the divorce settlement. She looks at it and declares it a joke. He thinks it’s very generous, but if she doesn’t accept it, it means a long drawn-out affair. She says that is what he will have, then.
Lucio’s school - Elo gives the directora some of Lucio’s work as submissions for the art contest. She likes them. Elo congratulates him on being so talented and perhaps one or more of the drawings will bring him some deserved recognition. Sweet Lucio thanks Elo calling her Mamá, then corrects himself changing it to Tía. Elo doesn’t seem to mind. At the end of the day (it seems), Lucio is walking out with the directora, but not Tía. Instead he’s with Luce, who has come to take him out to a meal. They meet Elo on the steps and there is a little argument about Luce not being authorized to pick up Lucio without Mauro’s consent. Luce says she only wanted to take him out to eat. What’s the harm in that? Lucio wants Elo to join them, but Luce puts a stopper on that idea. Elo thinks nothing good can come of this as she watches them leave. She tries to reach Mauro. She leaves a message.
Off They Go to La Tormenta WUN - The folks are now outside, waiting for the vans to be ready. They are standing around talking about Becca. Mauro thinks that’s enough, they need to concentrate on finding Iván. He, meanwhile will go back to the City. Just then Amaya gets a cell call from, wait for it…Whoracio. Talk about bad timing. (Why would he be calling? Ah, yes, Cesar has put him up to finding any reason, no matter how outrageous, to force her to return to the city right away.) He states his case. The papers for their divorce settlement are ready to be signed. He’s conceding to all her clauses. He wants her to be there in the morning. If she doesn’t show up, he’s not going through with it. Her window of opportunity will be slammed shut. Amaya wants to know what’s the hurry, give her a couple more days. After giving her the ultimatum, tomorrow or nothing, he hangs up on her, without giving her a chance to reply. Mariana is trying to hurry her up. She heads for the van. Cesar thinks they’ve got her and gives Whoracio a virtual pat on the back (but would not want to touch him). Whoracio replies that with that woman, one never knows [ed. note: I think what Whoracio said, sounded like …with that woman it’s worth the wait…but it doesn’t make sense, based on the scowl on Cesar’s face. Help if someone heard something more accurate that makes sense.]
Cip is on the Down Low - He makes a whispering call from the jailhouse public telephone to ask for Whoracio’s help to put up bail. He doesn’t want to be there any longer. When the Whor hears Cip is being held for robbing El P. of their coffee and flooding the warehouse, he tells Cip, that’s none of his affair. Well, Cip gambles, he has one last “As” up his sleeve. If Whor doesn’t help, he’s very likely to spill the beans on who was behind the fire at the Zona Estrella. That perks Whor’s ears up. He doesn’t want to hear his threats.
Whor goes in to see Cesar. This is the first time Cesar is hearing that Whoracio contracted Cippy to burn the ZE fields. How was Whor to know he was unreliable. He was the only guy he knew. They will post bail; they can’t run the risk he’ll tattle on them. (If Cip skips bail because he dies, I wonder, will they get the bail money back?) Cesar tells a shocked Whoracio that Cipriano will be dispensed with—after he gets out on bail…and he expects Whoracio to be the means to Cippy’s end. He reminds Whoracio of Negro’s death. Whor continues to claim it was an accident. Well, Cesar tells him to make Cippy’s end look like an accident. People die of accidents all the time. Whor looks like he just fell into some deep s**t, or swallowed some. He dismisses him telling Whor to send a message to Amaya pressuring her to return now.
Sal and Flavia Sitting on a Wall—not K-I-S-S-I-N-G - Sal makes a mad dash to catch up with Flavia. We’re all relieved when we see there is not much enthusiasm on her part to seeing him. He wants to know how it all went with her dad. She fumbles and mumbles and then tells him it would be better to leave things be. Sal begins to give her the same pressure treatment he gave Consta, with the same results. He thought they had something going. He can’t talk her into continuing their relationship. She’s sorry, it was her decision alone, but it’s true her family thinks he’s a traitor, untrustworthy and a bad person. She’s grateful for his help with her university studies. But this is goodbye. Sal is left wondering what steam roller just flattened him.
When Flavia gets back to El P., Jorge wants to know how it went. Flavia tells him about running into Salvador, just as Heri approaches from behind. He waits out of sight to listen. Flav tells Jorge she told Sal she didn’t want to see him again. Jorge is pleased. He didn’t think Sal was right for her. She agrees. There was something there, but it wasn’t love. Heri is seen in the background grinning with pleasure.
Back to the Rescue—But Not Quite There Yet - The Scooby-Doo Gang has arrived at the entrance to La Tormenta. You can tell who is the leader of the pack. He’s dressed in a neon orange shirt—the better to be seen by the others. They are stopped by Tadeo. They know Iván is there so they insist, they plead, they threaten. Nothing works until Mariana steps forward. He’s surprised to see her there. She tells him she’s pregnant with Iván’s child.
Uli is still counting his dough. Cecy wants him gone, never to be seen again. He tells her what they have can never end. She can’t get rid of him. If he needs more money, he’ll be back. Cecy starts to say something, but Mariana’s voice is heard in the background calling for Iván, Mi Amor. Uli grabs his money and hides because he doesn’t want Mariana to see him.
Cecy waits in the office to greet her guests. Mariana bursts in. Cecy begins her lies. She doesn’t know where he is, yadda yadda. The rest of the Scooby-Doos push their way in to the room. Hector starts hectoring her. Consta comes forth with her story about seeing her in the clinic. Cecy is unmoved by their claims. Uli hears all of this and realizes Iván is alive. He takes off when Amaya says they are going to check her finca. Cecy says they can’t. The Scooby-Doos say they will. There is a short scuffle and Mariana, with Max’s help gets buy Cecy’s henchman and heads down the halls of the finca house. Hector is right behind her.
Uli goes flying out of the house and runs into Tadeo. They swap swings and begin to fight. Uli grabs a stone and knocks Tad out and takes off.
Becca is in the room with Iván. She’s startled by the noise and drops something clanggy. Mari and Hector hear the noise and try to get in. The door is locked. Becca keeps silent, and finally, based on Mariana’s pleas that she is pregnant, she quietly unlocks the door. While Mari is relieved to see Iván and is hugging him, Becca slips out. Hector is furious with her for not telling him Iván was there. She uses a favorite line—Cecy was threatening her, and she has nowhere to go. She says, honest truth—she *was* going to tell him Iván was ok and not to worry about him, but Cecy left her no option. She hadn’t known Mariana was going to have a baby, so when she heard her say that, she unlocked the door and is ready to assume blame. Hector says the only reason she unlocked the door is that she knew they were going to knock the door down. He’s ashamed she’s the mother of his son.
Hector comes back to Cecy’s office to announce that Iván has been found and rescued. Max lets Cecy know she will have to deal with the police. She tries to tell him she saved his life after being thrown off a cliff. His head wound has caused him memory loss. That may be true, but why did she have him hidden, away from his family. Cecy swears it was for his own good.
These back and forth accusations could go on for a long time, but Tadeo staggers in with a bloody head. The Scooby-Doos find out it was Ulises and he was there. They accuse Cecy and Uli of being accomplices. She tries to get Tadeo to back up her story of Uli just spending the night and threatening her. Tad stays silent. Max calls his police chief in Comitán to tell him they found Iván and he’s holding the person responsible. He also explains that when Inspector Guzman came to make inquiries, she hid the fact Iván was there. Max also tells him that Ulises was there and they have some sort of relationship. He’ll get in touch with the authorities in Tapachula and they’ll take it from there.
Nescafé Offices - Juliana wants to talk business with Mauro. She can tell he’s preoccupied so he tells her the whole story of Mariana and Iván’s kidnapping and sequester.
Lucio Lunches With Lucrecia - But it’s not lunch Luce wants him to swallow. It’s some cock and bull about Mauro breaking up the family and his intention to keep her away from Lucio. Lucio, of course, gets extremely agitated. She’s “surprised” Mauro hasn’t already talked to him about it. Sadly, Mauro has already made the decision and he’s not going to change his mind. He wants them to live separately. Lucio’s agitation escalates to loud shouting. Luce keeps the verbal ammunition striking Lucio even though other diners are starting to notice. She can’t calm him down. She asks him for his help to make Mauro love her again so Mauro doesn’t break up the family.
Elo finally gets through to Mauro. She tells him what she thinks Luce is up to. Mauro is sure she is reacting to his counter offer and using Lucio. Poor things, they have no idea.
On the Run - Uli is seen through a stand of bamboo running, stopping, talking to himself. He’s furious with Iván for being alive and with Mariana. No matter. He’s still going to have Mariana for himself. He’s lost her twice. Third time lucky—or so he believes.
The Princess Wakes the Prince With a Kiss - Back to Mariana trying to wake up Iván. They are sure he’s been drugged, or he wouldn’t have been able to sleep through all the ruckus they made. Becca admits that Cecy was overdosing him. Hector thinks Mari needs to know that the blows Iván received on his head, he has a loss of memory for the last year.
Iván is still out cold in the bed. Becca says it’s almost time to give him more medicine. He begins to stir. She leaves so he won’t see her. Hector stays. Mariana leans over him. He looks at her. She tells him her name. He puts his hand up to her cheek. He doesn’t think he’s dreaming. No, she assures him, he’s not dreaming. She’s his wife. He says he’s dreamt about her, but Cecy kept insisting she wasn’t real. She’s real. To prove it, she brings her face down close to his and kisses him, sweetly and gently. This kiss he doesn’t pull away from. Freeze frame on Mariana and Iván kissing

Because it's in the comment section I can't change it.

I never fast forward through anything, even the most boring subplots (those are sometimes more exciting than the main story, i.e. la Fuerza del Destino) but oh do I wish I had the power to fast forward through Jose. He's so boring, whiny, useless and a waste of space for the more exciting things (anything really!) that Genoveva and Manuel could be doing now that they're out in the open.
THank you Anita!! Wow! What an episode! My heart is still racing. I appreciate your putting the most important news first because if I hadn't seen the episode, that's the MAIN thing I would want to know!
And I had to FF through the Lucio/DemonMother conversation because I knew where it was headed and I couldn't take it.
I see we were thinking along the same lines when Mariana the princess kissed the prince.
I was SO HAPPY to see Tadeo alive!
superalfie-LOL! You've probably shared your opinion of Jose before and someone else said they FFd and I just melded the two events together in my head.
Sleeping Beauty is awakened by his princess. Yay!
I really don't know how Becky can stand herself. What a wimp! I was impressed by how well Ceci kept her cool and stuck to her lies, despite how quickly they were falling down around her like dominoes. I enjoyed seeing Amaya and Clingy Connie work together, if even for just a few seconds, to retain Ceci in the office.
Can't say I was upset to hear Cesar's plans to eliminate Cippy Cup. Good riddance!
MAJOR props to Amaya this episode. I was happy to see her man handle Cecy!
Vivi somehow your wimp comment reminded me.
Can't say as I blame her, though, did you all see the look on Amaya's face when Max and Consta came back from their little "talk" and she announces she's going on the rescue mission, too? I think she wanted to be alone with Max again, even in a crowd, as long as Consta wasn't in it.
Ok, off to read another El Tal recap and then watch La Sombra. Company comes tomorrow.
For my own amusement I am compiling a list of acronyms and phrases commonly used on Caray (things like TBLMOE and all the show acronyms.)
Since many of you have much better recall than I do, would y'all mind sharing what you remember?
My e-mail is in my profile if you want to email me so the thread stays relatively on topic.
Before I continue, welcome Leila! Always glad to welcome our friends in from the shadows! Thank you for appreciating us and we appreciate everyone's joining in the fun and adding to our understanding and enjoyment of these stories! :D
Looks like I'll get to cover Clining Vine's warning to Amaya "Stay away from my man" part 2. Remember she gave that same little speech back when we first met this crew. I wonder how the writers are going to extricate her from Max. Yes, Anita, she has grown tentacles!
I was shocked that Mauro didn't go ballistic when he got Elo's call! I am dreading seeing what is going to happen today! Is she going to send Lucio into a crisis and have him carted off to a psych hospital? Mauro will kill Lu! What a BITCH she is!
Lila
Since I'm re-reading El Tal, I'm sure there will be some juicy gems there. I think Ramerawear and Nerfazos emerged in El Tal. So did the Patio of Lowered Expectations (or at least that is where I first faced them).
I recently re-read FELS. There were lots of play on words describing people, places and actions. Mexidoon, for instance.
Somewhere in the mists of time someone came up with Loonyvision applied to Univision.
Why limit yourself to acronyms? There are some classic labels out there, buried in long-ago telenovelas recapped by crafty wordsmiths and clever commenters.
I think sharing them here would be fun.
Glad that Mariana is staying with the Montesinos for awhile. Uli, on the other hand, is still on the loose, having bashed someone's head in with a rock!
I'm noting your entries now. In my fantasy world this would become a kind of glossary for new people and I would make it public. But I feel like that would be presumptuous.
Back to QA. Mauro didn't go ballistic because he sincerely believes it's a ruse to annoy him over the divorce. He has no idea what Luce actually did. Good luck today when he does find out!
If Uli is on the run, police in both Tapachula and Comitan looking for him, he shouldn't go back to Comitan.
And, how on earth does he plan to get Mariana for himself. Kidnap her again? He doesn't have Effer or his staff to order around. Mariana would fight him off again. His only hope is to go after Ivan--again. Ay de mi. The Nightmare ISN'T over yet. Drat.
Cesar acting like PINOCHET with his actions: making deaths look like accidents. I don't feel sorry for Whoracio, who usually squeals everytime Cesar threatens him!
Anita, were you reading my mind while I watched last night?
Lila-I don't even have the words to express to you how much I will be thinking of you today. They've set some things up and I have a foreboding feeling (is that redundant?)
And guys, please don't even THINK that Uli would get his hand on Mariana again. Surely they wouldn't do that to us, would they?
Lila
He wasn't even successful running a coffee plantation. He may have had good plants before Cippy planted plagued plants, but he treated his workers like dirt, underpaid them, dismissed them at will. He's got too many ordinary enemies walking around Comitan, not to leave out Mauro & Co. and all the region's coffee growers.
I wonder if Uli will ever learn that Cesar's plague plan was payback for defrauding him by replacing El P.'s coffee with poor quality coffee beans and charging extra (and don't forget he also tried to pass off bags that weighed lighter than they should have).
I hope Tadeo gets to run the place. He deserves it, and he'd be a good Hector for La Tormenta. Maybe the state can save money by putting both Ceci and Uli in the same padded room. They're both nuts.
I'd give Cons a pass for wanting to go to the WUN (because she's the witness) except that the only reason she's really going is to keep an eye on Max. She needs to get used to this. Mariana will probably end up back at El P, and since Mariana is her sister and OWNS part of it, and is involved in the business, of course she's going to be there. With Max. Deal, Connie.
Kelly
Love the image--lost Ivan, lost chair, nothing left. You saw something I didn't. That's why I love being able to discuss the episodes afterwards. There's always something new in yesterday's news!
Ya, we really do need to pull some of these gems together. I hate to see them just get buried in the depths of past telenovelas.
You just go ahead and dream. Actually, I'm with you right there.
He's already a non-factor, but he MUST be caught and punished. His sequester of Mariana and telling her Ivan was dead led her to try to commit suicide. Even if it's not earthly punishment, he needs heavenly punishment while we get to watch.
I'd like to see Cesar get ahold of him. Maybe then Cesar's attention will be diverted away from getting Amaya into his bed.
I'd be very disappointed if he flees the country, never to be heard of again.
She's a Baaad Mother. . .Shut Yo' Mouth! Pt. 1
This was one long episode about the havoc that bad mothering can wreak in lives and the good people that mop up and restore tranquility to the traumatized. We have a brief overlap of Lu exhibiting her atrocious “parenting” skills and Lucio about to have a full on melt down in a restaurant. We also have Uli amongst the bamboos pledging that Mariana WILL be his. Two gut-churning scenes.
We’re back in the bedroom where Ivan has been held prisoner and where Mari attempts to awaken his memory with a kiss. He dreamed of her but Ceci told him she didn’t exist; Ivan accepts the kiss and says his mind doesn’t remember her but his heart does and he knows he has a very special connection with her. Amaya is in the background and gets misty watching the two.
Ok. Here’s my ballistics I was looking for from Mauro. He reams Lu out over the phone. Lu and Lucio are in a park having ice cream and popsicles. Mauro rejects her assertion that Lu just wants quality time with Lucio: she’s using Lucio to hit Mauro where it hurts because she’s unhappy with his terms for divorce.
Ivan is cute looking at Mariana with wonder and amazement as Mari pledges her love and that no one will ever separate them again.
Uh oh. Right after this scene we see the evil, fugitive Uli still holed up in the bamboo plants and thanking is luck he escaped when he did as he’s sure Ceci will be arrested. Uli calls a flunky (convenient how his cell phone battery hasn’t died and he probably has his charger) and instructs him to send his and Mariana’s passport: he’s got to get out of the country right away. Ok. I hope this will be the means of Uli’s undoing. I don’t know who this flunky is but the police have Mari’s fake passport. Could this flunky be working for the police in exchange for immunity from being implicated as Uli’s accomplice? What do y’all think?
Back at the WUN we have a tender reunion of Ivan and Hector. Ivan tells Hector that Ceci had told him Hector was dead. They embrace and cry. Ivan can’t figure out why Ceci would lie to him this way. Amaya introduces herself, he doesn’t remember her nor does he know who Ulises is when his name is mentioned. Mari tells him he’s the guy who tried to separate them on their wedding day. In what must be review for the audience Mari describes that much of the plot she has just found out herself: Ceci seeking to keep them apart because she wanted him for herself. Ivan can’t wrap his head around all that’s happened. Amaya tells him to take his time. Cue the Ivan and Mariana theme song as he looks at her with wonder.
No wondrous looks back in Ceci’s office where scrumptious Max in the orangesickle shirt watches over the silly assed Ceci who continues to maintain her innocence. Amaya comes in and confronts her on how could she tell Ivan his father was dead! More dialogue which reviews the kidnapping scenario. Love it when Max yells at her to sit down and she complies. Tadeo comes in carrying refreshments. I’m with Connie as she turns down his offer. Max goes to talk to Ivan leaving Connie, Amaya and Tadeo to watch the braided-hair cow.
Useless Cippy Cup gets the news that Whor’s going to make his bail. Nobody’s bailing out Effer. Too bad. So sad.
Back at WUN Ivan does remember Max but thought he was still in Italy. As if Max doesn’t know he tells him of his beautiful wife whom he doesn’t remember but with whom he feels very happy and peaceful. Max vouches for how wonderful Mari is. Max tells him they’re going to return soon to El P. and Ivan is anxious to do so! Uh oh. Ivan wants to talk to Ceci. Max asks Mari to be cool as Hector goes to get her.
What a disappointment Tadeo is as he continues to seem to delight in any kind of attention from Ceci, even negative. She calls him a “starving to death nobody.” Given enough time, Ceci could have taken Tad to the dark side.
Not going to spend a lot of time on this unsatisfying scene. Connie tells Amaya to stay away from her man. Part 2. Amaya seems very tired and doesn’t put up much of any kind of defense. Connie is perkier and more fired up: She doesn’t want Amaya butting in their lives just because she owns the ZE, is Max’s business partner and sister in law. Connie tells her she knows how Amaya feels about Max but she needs to back off and live her own life: SHE is the one who left Max so she should stop trying to use her sister as a pretext to see him. Amaya makes a pitiful attempt at a comeback but Connie has the last word. She deftly weaves a lie into her tirade: Max despises her and is almost to the point of being indifferent to her. She should just live her life and leave them alone. Connie walks out leaving Amaya verbally slapped.
Delusional Ceci goes to the bedroom and has the nerve to call Ivan Mi Amor right in front of Mari, who challenges her. Ivan is the one to tell her whether she’s his love or not, not Mariana. I don’t know. I’m not a violent person but their should have been at least one sound, head-spinning Bitch Slap up in here. Maybe since Mariana is pregnant they let that slide. I sure would love to see it happen! So good, Ivan tells her right away she is no love of his and he wants to know why she orchestrated this whole sick charade. Ceci asks to be alone with Ivan. Anyway, over Mari’s protests, Hector, Max and Mariana leave a smug Ceci alone with Ivan. She tries to revive the snow job she was doing on him but Ivan is not buying it and calls her out on hiding him from his wife and lying that his father was dead so as not to upset him Why do they keep going over this!! Why doesn’t somebody just come and get this ho and take her to the hoosegow! Anyway thank goodness Ivan tells her he might have been blacked out and have memory problems but he’s NOT STUPID and realizes everything she did, she did for herself! She was only trying to make memorable moments. She starts to beg. He looks at her like he realizes SHE’s the one with mental problems!
A more interesting conversation is going on outside where Max has taken this moment to tell Mari that even though he is no longer with her sister, Amaya, he will always be there for her. Mari is sorry they’re not together because Max is a real rad dude but says she understands Amaya’s reasons Ooopsy! Max asks what reasons as the gong of significant dialogue sounds in the background! In a nice save Mariana says it’s not her place to tell him and Max lets it go with a sigh. Max asks that they return to El P. after the fire there is much reconstruction to be done and he needs his trusted people with him to help him rebuild. Mari is only too happy to accept for her, Ivan and the baby. Ceci exits the bedroom and tells Mari he wants to see her. In an act more generous than any I would have extended Mari tells her that Ivan was always fond of and spoke highly of her but after what she has done, he will never look at her the same. Ok, well, that’s as good as it gets. It’s ok. Mariana does not want to marinate in bad vibes for the baby’s sake. Ceci will get hers! Max motions for her to go and meet with the police who are waiting for her.
Agente Guzman enters the study where the lying Ceci is seated. Also present are Max, Connie, and Amaya. We suffer hearing Ceci’s delusional motives again. Anyone who has loved as she loved Ivan would’ve done the same. Amaya tells her no, she has never loved in such an egotistical manner. The boom tells us Amaya just told her off but this is as lackluster as her comeback at Connie. Hector exposes Rebecca as an accomplice.
Jorge is moping over Juli at El P. He’s not going to rest until she understands that he loves her and they have a future together!
Said Juli has received a beautiful flower arrangement under glass. It’s from Jorge, of course. Elo urges Juli NOT to turn her back on Jorge. He knows what he can and cannot give her. She shouldn’t wait until it’s too late. He won’t beg her forever. Juli thinks about it.
Hector and Agente Guzman confront Rebecca, the gutless wonder, with the charge of being an accomplice and we suffer HER lame excuses a-gain of not being able to resist the all-powerful Ceci who threatened to throw her in the street. Somehow she thinks that accusing Ceci of being mentally ill will help her case: Ceci is like her mother who died in a psychiatric hospital! Hulk Hector is turned loose on her: Justice and God will judge her! Guzman is ready to book her but she’s got one last request!
Back at the MM Lu and Lucio are back home where Mauro waits. Lucio tells Mauro he doesn’t want him to break the family. Mauro doesn’t try to counter this, he simply pulls Lucio close to him.
Elo fills Juli in on Lu’s brainwashing of Lucio. Juli thinks now is the time to tell Mauro what they suspect about Omar’s REAL role in Lu’s life and her involvement in his very convenient death. Juli feels that since Lu is using Lucio for her own ends, Mauro needs this truth to help him fight for and win custody of Lucio!
Over at MM Mauro has the housekeeper take him over to Juli’s so he can rip Lu another one in private. She knew they agreed to take the divorce process in steps so as to cut down on disruption of the family, especially for Lucio.
Lucio arrives at Juli’s where Juli and Elo wait for him. He is hyperventilating and on the verge of melting down. They help him calm as well as debrief and counter the lies Lu told, essentially that Mauro didn’t love any of them anymore and that’s why he was breaking up the family. Elo and Juli listen intently but exchange looks of anger and frustration.
Over at the WUN finca, Ivan is finally out of the prison bed and more importantly he is feeling more lucid and less dizzy now that he is not being constantly doped up. See, I told y’all Ceci was a little too interested in the tranquilizers the Dr. was prescribing! Uuuuf! Anyway, he is with Mari and continues to gaze at her in loving wonder. What a deal! Lose a year of your life, wake up with a lovely wife! Ivan wonders how they’re going to live at El P., as husband and wife or . . .Mari assures him they will take things slowly and let them evolve. He was very patient when he first started courting her, she can be just as patient as he recoups his memory and heals. Hector interrupts the tender moment by telling him there is someone who wants to see him. Rebecca enters.
Becca tells him she had been at the finca all the time he was there. Ivan sums it up splendidly: “My mother, all the time I was here she was taking care of me and harming me at the same time!” On that note, Hector and Mariana leave them alone. Once again the charges are flung at her and she cries that she was a spineless, helpless old lady at the mercy of Ceci’s lies. He hurls at her that a real mother would have fought tooth and nail to protect her child, to protect his interests. She tried? A real mother wouldn’t try; she would succeed.
From one bad mother to another. Mauro is going to make sure she doesn’t use Lucio to get her hands on the stocks and property she wants: he’s going to get full custody of Lucio. Lu has the nerve to smirk to Mauro it won’t be easy. He comes back to face Lu as she sits in her white, wing back throne and tells her he will produce witnesses who will testify that she has never treated her son well, that she aggravates and destabilizes him. Lu loses her smirk.
Ivan continues unloading on Rebecca. He tells her he never held any rancor over her abandoning them; he thought it must be some great matter of life and death that made her leave but now he knows she did it for selfish reasons. Oh, she knows she was wrong but she’s soooo sorry. Ivan wants to know real reason she left: she owes him the truth! She fell in love, helplessly in love with another man and ran away with him. She soooo regrets her error; how she regrets leaving the best for something less! Well, he sees she hasn’t changed: she preferred to be in the lap of luxury at Cecelia’s and instead of helping him get back his memory, she backed up her vicious lies! But she never agreed with what Ceci was doing and it was because of her insistence that Ceci took him to a Dr. in Mexico City. Ivan vigorously recoils from her touch!
Elo and Juli continue their crisis intervention with Lucio. I can hear the wheels of his mind turning. He’s beginning to believe that the family is not broken because they love each other and love can never be broken!
Ivan is sitting on the bed now as for the second time a woman begs to be by his side. No. He doesn’t think that would be healthy for either of them. He doesn’t trust her and as a matter of fact through all these years he never missed her! Things can be different now, she begs! NO! He doesn’t want any reminder around of this nightmare he’s lived! Thank goodness Hector and Mari finally come in! Hector tells her Guzman is waiting to talk to her. Rebecca tries to touch Ivan again, he pulls away. She tells him goodbye and she hopes one day he will forgive her, and them, too. She and Hector leave the room. Mariana puts her arm around Ivan’s shoulder. His face is reddened, tear streaked and contorted with a pain so deep, he utters no sound as he weeps.
Back in the study Ceci wears the innocent face of the insane as she tells Rebecca that her lawyer assured her soon they’ll be back home. Max and Amaya wouldn’t argue with her about her assertion that her conscience is clear if they realized she’s criminally insane. Thankfully, Guzman leads them away! Rebecca may not be crazy but she sure has a lot of nerve asking Hector to “please take care of OUR son.” He fairly spits at her that she doesn’t have to ask him that!
Connie throws a glance Amaya’s way and jumps up to claim Max. Amaya leaves the study as well.
Mauro enters Juli’s and greets Lucio affectionately as a milk-drinking monster! Kinda like a cookie monster except he’s got milk, not cookies. Cute! He tells Mauro that Juli and Elo told him that Mauro will always love him even if they divorce. Elo confirms this. Mauro and Lucio embrace. Lucio is much more relaxed. Juli tells Mauro she has something very important to tell Mauro. Elo wants to show Lucio some new art supplies he will use in the art competition. They leave.
Alone now, Juli tells him it’s about Lucrecia and it’s something she and Elo have suspected for some time and that it will help him secure custody of Lucio without any problem. Mauro’s brow knits as he asks her what it is. Juli continues that she and Elo never believed Lu’s story that Omar raped her but that rather, they were lovers. Mauro protests that this is past, that Omar is dead and they probably will never know the truth. Juli presses on. That Omar is dead is certain but it is possible that Lucrecia had something to do with his death. Mauro continues to protest. Juli acknowledges that this is very painful and that it is going to be painful for her siblings. She reminds Mauro of a newspaper article they discussed at the breakfast table some time back about a man being poisoned. It so happens that Omar died exactly the same way as described in the newspaper article. Mauro states and Juli agrees that this doesn’t mean Lu had anything to do with Omar’s death, but it doesn’t say that she didn’t.
We have a tender scene to break the tension. Elo shows Lucio his new art supplies. He is so excited about the competition. They both are sitting on the bed and Lucio tells Elo he wants to tell her a secret; she mustn’t tell anyone! He loves her more than he loves his mother. Elo’s eyes glisten with emotion as she tells him she has a secret, too: she loves him like he was her own son! Big hug! Awwwww!
Oh, Lord, back to the devil! In this conversation Lucrecia earns a fatal anvil as far as I’m concerned. She and Cesar plot over the phone on how to show Mauro that Lu is not playing. She can accomplish this AND get Lucio out of her presence and away from Eloisa as she can’t stand being near him anymore and this will be the surest way to hurt Mauro: She wants Lucio locked up in a mental hospital as far away from them as possible. Even the evil Cesar notes that Lucio is better now. Lu cynically answers that he may be better but he’ll always be retarded. She smiles with glee with just the thought.
Juli continues trying to wake up Mauro. She argues that if Omar raped her, why would she be at his funeral singing his praises? If Lu would hurt her, Max, Lucio and Flavia, why doesn’t he think she wouldn’t hurt her publicity agent, the only person who could’ve exposed her? Mauro measures his words as he tells Juli, but more himself, that these accusations are very grave. Yes, Juli answers, but she and Elo believe firmly, are convinced that it is true. If he doesn’t believe it, talk to her. “Ask her where she was the day her agent died. Expose her to your doubt and watch how she reacts and we’ll find out if everything that Eloisa and I are thinking is crazy or not.”
Freeze frame on Mauro which is an excellent representation of the blood draining from his face.
Tee Hee - Baaad Motha! Shut yo Mouth. I got a kick out of Lucio checking into Luce's pocket book while she was on the phone. She shoos him away and tells him to get back on the other side.
Here's a little clarification. The flunky Uli called from the bamboo forest, you didn't recognize. Well, neither did I, but he's the passport photographer. Uli needs a new set because he's lost the old ones. Flunky says it'll cost him. Uli says that's ok, just do it. He'll be in touch when he gets back to Comitan.
Just loved this scene, "Mari is sorry they’re not together because Max is a real rad dude but says she understands Amaya’s reasons Ooopsy! Max asks what reasons as the gong of significant dialogue sounds in the background!"
I wonder if Max will mull over that for awhile and then begin to ask questions. If he asks Amaya, she will deny, deny, deny. He'd do better to file that away for a few episodes.
Loved Mariana not marinating!
Excellent! Didn't you just love Luce's all innocent all the time act? Mauro isn't buying it this time. I hope he can keep this in mind in the future.
Excellent x 2. You got Luce and Mauro perfectly.
Why did I not feel sorry for Becca? Her worst fear was realized. Her son listened and rejected her, all for very valid reasons. She had plenty of opportunities to intervene--Cecy be damned. I'm sure she's been on her own before, she can do so again. Why do I not feel sorry for her? She's weak-willed--well all the things she said about herself, but I do not feel sorry for her. I feel sorrier for Ivan, who has to now live with the real truth of why she left the family.
I support Tadeo though. I thought he said something to the effect that he DID love her, but not now. He is the one who let in the Scoobies after all. And I'd happily take some of that jamaica. I hope he finds someone nice.
Maybe Rebecca can save Mari from Uli latest insanity. That's the only way she can get any kind of forgiveness, after all her selfishness. It was kinda nice to see Ivan NOT forgive. Some people just don't deserve such comfort. As long as he's good and not bitter, and with Mariana, he should be jut fine.
Can Mauro change his mind about the express divorce?
Kelly
Loved Consta jumping up to claim Max!
Poor Mauro--he still can't believe Luce could be the perpetrator of so many evil deeds. In this case he is right. The two ladies only have a suspicion, no proof, and just a mere coincidence. Oh, Mauro, how much more will it take?
When Lucio told Elo that he wanted to tell her a secret and what it was, just melted my heart. I'm sure Elo will end up by being Lucio's stepmother by the end of the tn.
You nailed it, girl! And in bold, to boot. I'd actually forgotten that whole scene. What an excellent way to bring it back to our attention. Yes, if Omar had raped Luce, why would she be at the funeral at all or say such nice things about him when she didn't have to.
Mauro--please, pause to think.
But, like Max, getting a denial from Amaya, if Mauro asks Luce about her whereabouts, she will lie, lie, lie. Isn't she always going to meetings regarding her favorite charity, Children With Cancer? That smacks of such a hypocrite, I hope she gets smacked with that when she gets to Heaven and is denied entrance. Back to Purgatory--or Worse, as far as I'm concerned.
BRAVA, LILA!
Regrettably, Mauro is an honorable man and he gave Luce his word he wouldn't, so he and Viewerville are at an impasse.
Thank you so much for the recap, Lila. You REALLY took one for the team today.
I hope this threat of Lu is just something they're saying to help us see what a devil she is and that they won't actually lock poor Lucio up even for one hour! Now, I would NOT be able to recap that!
Mauro has been given (almost) the mother load: the first hint that Lu is a murderer! Will he confront her? I'm afraid for so many people's lives. Remember, Cesar still has ricin hidden in his apartment! There is sooo much that can happen in the next 4 1/2 weeks. The ride's going to get even bumpier!
Back later!
Anita- Remember the car bomb was not Cesar's idea and he had no idea about it. He saved Vale's life. Remember how shocked Lu was to realize Cesar could have been killed by her bomb, and how ticked off he was at her.
Vivi- I hope you'll be able to catch this week before leaving. I just watched through Thursday. Difficult week for some (including Lila who has to recap this), but necessary. At least we get Mari and Ivan. One couple must be happy at all times.
Kelly
ps. I know we're not about gossip, but I just read that real-life Mariana is dating real-life Ulises. Ulises! That jerk! (who is really probably a perfectly nice guy. still.) Also, there's a dancing robot on the recaptcha thing. It's weird.
Real life Ulises (Diego) and real like Mariana (Renata) played an adorable couple in Amorcito Corazon. You should watch it.
And Willy Boy...the only decent acting job I've seen from Daniel Arenas.
I'm up for the recap today, but I won't be able to even watch the episode until I get home around 4. Please don't feel like you have to wait until the recap to discuss the episode!
Vivi-I am very annoyed that Univision and Telemundo are not part of my cable company's on demand offerings.
With what Lu is proposing, she absolutely will not get out of this alive. She is the worst mother ever, not passively harming her "child" through acts of omission and lack of spine but committing evil in every way possible: thought, word AND deed. The only way her unfortunate offspring can get over what she has done is for them to bury her. Ok, gotta go to work!
Kelly
The man just can't seem to get the reality that she's a murdering psycho!
About to start on it now. In the interest of speed I am going to seriously summarize, but have no fear I will (hopefully) get all the pertinent facts.
Straight to the new.
Flavia and Jorge discuss how to get the 3-in-1 produced and delivered without to much loss of capital.
Ivan comes home. Hugs.
The lawyer advises Cecy that using a defense of mental defect is her best option. Cecy doesn't like the idea, but accepts it. She's not crazy, though. She loves Ivan and wants him with her.
More hugs for Ivan. He'll be back to normal soon!
Uli meets with the photog. He wants a new fake passport. He also wants him to spy on Mariana.
Ivan wants Marianna to tell him all about them. She gives him the wedding ring Cecy took off him. She tells him about the pregnancy. Tears and hugs and flashbacks.
Max, Jorge, Amaya and Cons discuss the 3-in-1 project problems. Amaya wants to get a loan. Talk turns to love. Cons and Max! Jorge and Juliana! Wah! Flavia is the old spinster aunt! Jorge thinks there's some lovin' for Flavia (a little joke about Heriberto?) Amaya gets a little third-wheely and interrupts to insist on being in charge of getting the loan for the project.
Later that night. Amaya and Max separately thought bubble about how much they love each other and how much the current situation is killing them.
Jorge knocks on Max's door. He will be leaving for the DF tomorrow. He's having this surgery that he declines to explain fully to Max. It's personal (I vote vasectomy.) It was supposed to be next week, but the doctor had to move up the date. Max thinks it's a drastic decision. Which made me think Max knew what it was. Did I miss something?
Meanwhile, Juli is looking at pictures of Jorge on her phone.
Amaya is leaving. Marianna is wearing the prettiest blue belt! Mariana is worried about Amaya considering what she told her about Lucrecia. Amaya tells her not to worry and to please not to say anything to anyone about it.
Mauro confides to Mauricio what Juli told him about Omar and Lucrecia. He mentions knowing that Omar died from the same stuff they sent to the White House. Cesar overhears Mauro say Juli and Elo think Lu is a killer. This is not good.
Max talks to Tomas about buying coffee at 25% above the price. Tom has another commitment, but he'll see if the other buyer is willing to cancel the deal.
Cesar calls Lucrecia to warn her. She gets upset. He could investigate and it will cause problems with the divorce. Ya think? Now is the time to act against Mauro Montesinos!
Amaya arrives back at MM. Adelina tells her that the cleaners found this memory chip in Sr. Cesar's suits. Amaya gives her a big hug and asks her not to say anything about it. She plugs it into the computer. SHE HAS THE PROOF SHE NEEDS TO SINK LUCRECIA! Now Don Maro will finally know the truth!
Mauricio thinks Mauro should confront Lucrecia and bluff. Tell her he knows Omar was her lover. And act as if there is NO DOUBT.
Lucrecia begins her decent into madness. How do I kill Mauro without anyone suspecting? Oh! My friend Isadora poisoned her husband and it looked like a heart attack (hahahahah!!! That's what started it all on Cuna de Lobos!!!! Meta!!!!)
Mauro is worried. What if her finds out that everything Juli told him is true? Lucrecia will pay...for what she did to Omar and the damage she did to her own son!
Jorge and Flavia have a non-plot advancing conversation about Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars.
Juli sits in her office and has flashbacks of lovin'. Ay Jorge. What am I going to do with you?
Max tells Mauro that they will most likely be able to buy the cafe gourmeT they need.
Whor informs Cesar that Amaya is n the DF. They will meet with the lawyer. Cesar reminds Whor that Amaya can't find out they precipitated her urgent return. Whor tells Cesar he knows not to mess with them. Cesar tells Whor that when he's done with the lawyer, he's to hop on a plane and take care of Cip. He suggests adulterated alcohol. Which I assume means poison him.
Amaya calls Caro 2.0 and tells her she has the memory card! They wonder about Negro. There's something weird going on. Without him they will never know what happened to Gustavo (loose end alert?) Amaya is going to meet with Mauro and tell him Florencia is dead and buried.
Mauro meets with Cesar to tell him Max's solution. Cesar doesn't like the idea. He and Mauro argue. They will lose a lot of money! What is Cesar's problem? Is he mad because Max solved the problem and Cesar couldn't? Max solved it and it's not going to cost the company!
Amaya, Whor, Lawyer, Pen, Signature. Done.
Marianna and Ivan take a walk to help jog his memory. Hector reports that Cecy will most likely get out of jail because of mental defect. They keep saying FREE. Wouldn't they put her in some sort of facility? Uli is a different matter. They don't know where he is. As long as he is at large, he is a danger.
Uli meets with the photographer and learns El P is heavily guarded. Uli won't be able to get near her. Uli is still convinced that Marianna will be his!
Cecy returns from her psych eval. She tells Beca they are sure to believe her defense since she acted extra crazy. (Like asking the guard to get her coffee?) And why does Beca say THEY will be free. Did anyone say anything about Beca being crazy? Beca hopes Cecy has learned a lesson and won't go after Ivan any more. Cecy has not. She loves Ivan and HE WILL BE HERS!
Cesar is on the phone with Amaya and berates her for not telling him she was back. When she turns down his invitation to eat, he reminds her he's her husband. She tells him she knows that, but that doesn't mean she has to report her every move. They will see each other at MM. She calls Mauro and asks to meet with him.
Cons has a baby bump finally. They haven't heard from Tomas about the cafe gourmeT yet. Jorge leaves. Cons leaves. Max starts to talk to Flavia about Salvador, but she interrupts to tell him they aren't together. Max is happy about that.
Mauro meets Amaya. She wanted to talk about her mom. He's not going to like her news.
Of course. I get a Jose episode. Mauricio wants to buy him a car. A sensible one. Jose pitches a fit. Cons got a luxury car! Mauricio caves. Jose gets luxury car. Way to parent, jacka$$.
Amaya tells Mauro Florencia is dead and shows him the death certificate. He notes that it is recent. Amaya explains that she only recently found her mother's remains, but that she had been dead for 30 years. She died in the river? No, Don Mauro. They killed her! When Mauro asks her, Amaya shows him pictures of where the body was recovered. She was killed and dumped. He can't believe it. Amaya tells him he will want to deny it even more when he finds out WHO did it. She shows him the pictures of Lucrecia at the site.
Lucrecia? What is Lucrecia doing there?
Lucrecia is there because she my mom's killer!!
Freeze frame on Don Mauro!
I am so used to conversations being drawn out and interrupted I didn't expect Amaya to come out with the whole story to Mauro! WOW! So Cesar and Lu think they have spoiled Mauro's ambush of Lu with the accusation of Omar's murder but Mauro's got THE BOMB now!
Oh man! You got quite an episode, Sara, and looks like I'm going to get a doozy as well!
Please, no apologies on the posting, Sara! Thank you!! Thank you!!
**********
Things ARE getting deep and there are several things I hope they don't put us through:
1. Death of any Montesinos other than Cesar and Lu, including babies.
2. Kidnapping of Mariana or hurting of her or Ivan in any way.
3. Institutionalization or further hurting of Lucio in any way.
PLEASE, no spoilers or even hints if anyone knows the answer to these questions: this is going to be quite a ride and I want to enjoy every bump!
I notice Ceci's braids were loosened. Is that a sign that she IS really going crazy? Can't believe they are going to let a criminally insane person just walk free.
I'm off to lindo Mexico tomorrow. See you all when I get back, or maybe I'll check in from the beach.
Is it ok if they kill Jose, or at least maim him a little more? Getting attached in prison didn't help, his parents clearly aren't helping. Someone needs to have a come-to-Jesus meeting with him. Mauro could do it but he's occupied at the moment.
Kelly
Ha ha! on can we kill or maim Jose. What a jackass he is. Where are they going with this jerk? The whole car thing seems a set up for a humbling or fatal crash. I don't want to enjoy this kind of outcome for anybody other than the likes of Cesar. Can't they just make this storyline go away?
Lila, we can share cocktails in hell because I kind of wish Jose would go away permanently as well. But then Geno would be sad and I wouldn't like that. Y'all will probably be Jose free until I have a recap. I seem to get his twerpy episodes.
Should be a good episode today! I can't wait!!! Yipppeeeee!
Cons feels that way a lot too..I think it just might be genetic!
I am just gobsmacked by yesterday's action. And to think we still have...what? 4 weeks?
I will get to watch this episode practically in real time today and I am very happy about that.
Dagnabbit! Derned DVR showed the red light like it was recording and NADA! It's pretty easy to reconstruct from memory because there was ONE BIG STORY, Amaya tells all!
Side stories before I get to that:
Cesar finds out who Max was going to buy coffee from to make up for the ZE crop that Cesar burned. Apparently the coffee grower was indebted to Cesar so Cesar called in the debt: don't sell to Max and DON'T breathe a word to anybody. The spineless bastard complied.
Later that morning the wimp called Max who was at El P. waiting with Flavia (decked out in S & M-like black leather, brass-studded vest and fingerless glves) and Connie for what he thought would be good news. Max's hopes are dashed. Flavia and Connie comfort him.
Lucrecia goes to a pharmacy to buy heart attack drops so she can rid herself of the Mauro problem. Lu knows the exact concentration she wants. What a gal! The clerk refuses as she does not have a prescription. Plastic smile firmly in place, Lucrecia slides a wad of bills to the girl who also smiles but we never see if the girl accepts the bribe.
Another person on a mission of death is Whor who finds Cip in the town square in Comitan. Moments earlier Cip had been talking with his lawyer who warned him his release is temporary. Cip doesn't take any of what the lawyer is saying seriously, he's just glad to be out so he's totally ready for the drink Whor offers him. Of course Whor offers to buy.
Mariana and Ivan are in Comitan, too, frolicking in the town square, eating Popsicles and cotton candy when their paths cross with Whor and Cippy Cup. It is not a happy reunion. Mari cannot believe he is out with everything he has done! Of course, Cip doesn't see where he's done anything, denies Mari is his daughter and the insults and reproaches fly back and forth. One good thing comes out of this interchange: When Mari reminds Cip that he bet her in a poker game and conspired with Uli to hold her prisoner in his home, memories strike Ivan like a bolt of lightening! He then joins the fray fiercely defending his wife and warning them both to keep their words and hands off her! Whor and Cip laugh and try to make light of Ivan's defense. Ivan and Marie finally take leave of the scum.
Mari and Ivan under a tree, K I S S I N G! UUUuuuuuf! That damned Uli is watching the scene from the window of. . . where the hell is he anyway spying on them and asking why she is with that "imbecil"! Come on writers! Give that story line a rest already!!
Part 2 to follow.
Uli still on the loose, he's not going to stop with his stalking, it's downright scary!
She killed Florencia. Amaya tells Mauro that finally after so many years she has regained her memory and she recalls perfectly what happened that day. Amaya knew it would be her word against Lucrecia's so she had to come up with a way to expose Lu. Amaya reminds Mauro of Lu's reaction when the "anonymous" note arrived. Amaya explains that she sent it, thinking Lu would confess if she thought Florencia was alive and had returned to unmask her. Instead Lu became alarmed and frantically sought to locate Florencia's remains where she KNEW they would be, in the well. Of course, the remains were not there. This is why Lucrecia believes Florencia is still alive. Mauro has begun to show signs of severe distress, gasping, frowning and grimacing. Amaya becomes alarmed and asks him if he is all right! He denies his distress and asks her to continue.
All this time Cesar has one of his everready flunkies watching Amaya and Mauro and reporting back to him but thankfully the flunky is not listening to the content of the conversation. Cesar just wants to know when they leave and for them to be followed.
Mauro wants to hear it all. He takes what is probably a nitro pill for his pain. Amaya reveals to Mauro that Delores was not dead when she found her in the hospital bathroom and that Delores, her Godmother, told her that she had confronted Lucrecia in the bathroom about her suspicions in the death of Amaya's parents. Lucrecia confessed to Delores her guilt in Amaya's parents' deaths. "So that my Madrina would not talk, she (Lucrecia) killed her." Mauro's face has gone up another level in shock!
Mauro says it is inconceivable what Lucrecia has done. Amaya agrees there are no words to describe her evil. Mauro reaches across the table an takes Amaya's hands but I can't make out what he says. Amaya says that finally her Mother can rest in peace. Amaya reveals Lu's cynical game of leading Mauro on wild goose chases all these years, making him get his hopes raised and then dashed that he would find Florencia: All this was her sick and cruel way of taking revenge on Florencia and Mauro.
To be continued.
Amaya helps Mauro realize that Lucrecia ALWAYS knew about the love between him and Florencia. Furthermore, Lucrecia was her father's accomplice in keeping Mauro and Florenica apart. It finally is dawning on him. Amaya tells him it was Lucrecia that warned her dad that Mauro was helping Florencia to leave and that Mauro had sent his plane. Lu's plans were to get rid of Florencia, Amaya's father and Amaya. Things didn't go exactly as Lu planned but Amaya says she is certain that it was Lucrecia who set the explosion that killed her father.
Mauro keeps going up and up in the stress o meter but he has stabalized somewhat. He wonders aloud how could someone hurt innocents, what was their crime? He answered. We loved each other. We loved each other deeply. They grasp hands over the table and Mauro covers his face with his free hand and cries. "She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve this end. She should be here, with us." Amaya sobs and says, "I know. I know." Amaya says that his tears demonstrate that if there was ever anyone who fully and unconditionally loved her Mother, it was Mauro. Mauro agrees that he always loved her and his greatest hope all these years was that he would find her alive. Amaya shares her assurance that Lucrecia bought off the investigator that he had looking for Florencia to keep the lie and the punishment alive.
"She is a monster. I have lived with my worse enemy all these years."
Amaya cries that she was so afraid that he wouldn't believe her. She thanks Mauro for believing her. He wipes the tears from her face. Mauro tells Amaya that Juliana told him that she suspected Lucrecia of killing Omar, her agent, but he didn't believe her but with all this she is telling him. . . [unintelligible] Mauro's rage is resurfacing as he throws his napkin down and announces "She is a devil, the woman is a devil!" As if this isn't enough, poor Mauro has to hear that [as far as Amaya knows] Lucrecia killed the child that Mauro and Florencia had together. She tells Mauro that she heard Lucrecia tell this from her own mouth to Cesar. Cesar has been her best student. Mauro shakes his head with understanding and sadness, but not surprise.
To be continued. [Got to take care of something. Back in a flash!]
Amaya confirms that Cesar is Lu's accomplice. Mauro woefully concludes that it is their common evil that unites them. Then Mauro says something we all have lamented about since we met the Montesinos. "How could I have been so blind all these years, for God's sake!" Amaya tells him that she thought Cesar was not his son -- Mauro's face contorts again at the possibility of another devastating revelation -- but she did a DNA test and the results came back positive. From Mauro's reaction to this shock and awe of revelations, it is good that Lu intervened to rig the DNA test or else this could have been a fatal blow! Lucrecia has inadvertently done Mauro some good!
Finally, we get to the big question of WHY, Mauro asks, why did she marry Cesar. Amaya explains it was the only way she could have access to his house to get evidence she needed against Lucrecia. For Cesar, it was his way of beating Max by taking his woman and becoming the apple of Mauro's eye AND because Amaya owned the Zona Estrella. Also, with Cesar being Lu's special offspring, she knew that she would be safe from Lu's murderous hands. She could NOT be with Max and thus expose him to danger from Lu and Cesar as well as herself.
Mauro's focus has turned outward now. He looks at Amaya as the QA theme is cued and concludes. "You gave up Max in order to protect him from his own mother and brother!" She nods and says it would have been too much to expose him to the fallout of her quest for justice which she knows at times looked more like vengeance. She had to marry Cesar to protect her own life while she sought justice. Time for another bomb. Amaya tells Mauro it was Lucrecia who shot her, not Emma.
"Amaya, you are describing a psychopath, a serial killer who eliminates anyone who contradicts her or disturbs her." Amaya says that is exactly what Lucrecia is and that is also the reason she had to send Valeria out of the country, to protect her from the evil of Lucrecia. Amaya asks if he understands now and her emotions rise again and she begins to cry. Mauro kisses her face and Amaya falls against his shoulder as he enfolds her in one of his nurturing Don Mauro hugs. Mauro now fully realizes that Amaya has been living the worse nightmare of her entire life. "You bore all of this alone! Why didn't you come to me? Why didn't you confide in me?"
Amaya tells him what we always knew: that Mauro would not have believed her and she only recently came into some of the proof she now has.
Mauro tells Amaya that (for her) it is too much, that she gave up everything to seek justice. She says yes and there were many moments when she wondered if she was doing the right thing but memories of her Mother and Madrina gave her the strength to push forward because they did not deserve to die in vain or have their murders go unpunished, AND the evil of Lucrecia MUST be punished. Mauro gives Amaya his word that she will. Amaya rests her head on Mauro's clasped hands for a moment and then throws her head back as if shaking away a burden. She looks him in the eyes and smiles, "You don't know how much my soul is now at rest for having told you the whole truth!" They share and comfort each other over the pain, rage, frustration and deep sadness they both feel. Amaya asks Mauro to forgive her for having caused him this pain with these revelations. No, Mauro won't hear of it: Lucrecia ALONE is at fault for all this pain. He gives Amaya one of his cute nose tweaks and they both laugh.
"You have done nothing for which to ask my pardon, on the contrary it is I who must beg your pardon. I have done so much harm to you, to your Mother." He borrows a phrase from Lucio and says his heart is "rompido." Amaya laughs and says, "Roto, Don Mauro, roto." Mauro says, "Roto en mil pedazos." Broken in a thousand pieces. Broken to bits. It's not just learning of the depravity and evil of Lucrecia but losing the hope that he's held on to all his life that he would see Florencia again some day. Amaya says she knows. What happened is that Lucrecia never forgave him for loving Florencia. [Unintelligible interchange]. Mauro tells Amaya that Lucrecia threatened to go far away and never let him see his son if he didn't marry her. Amaya asks him please not to beat himself up for that, he did what his conscience told him was the right thing to do. She tells him he is a good man, he just didn't know who he was marrying. He didn't know who Lucrecia really was.
As they prepare to leave the restaurant Amaya tells Mauro that she wants to accompany him to the Dr. so he can be examined because he doesn't look right. Then Mauro says something that, at least as I understood it, seems chilling and I hope is not foreshadowing. He says that before he goes to the Dr. he wants to go to the other side, he wants to go to her Mother, that it's time that they were together. Amaya also looks somewhat alarmed at this request but then she understands and they go in for a super Mauro bear hug! Amaya smiles. "Father and Daughter" have made up!
My substitute recording cut off early but I know Amaya and Mauro went to the Church (is it?) where Florencia's remains rest in a beautiful marble crypt with golden letters. He cries and strokes the letters of her name and I know some tender and beautiful things were said but, well, Comcast crapped out on me.
There you have it. An emotional and satisfying episode interspersed with the other storylines I described above but this was all about Amaya enlightening Mauro on the darkness Lucrecia brought to his life. Mauro now understands the strange dumping of Max and marrying the arch rival brother but there are more truths to come out; the children all have to learn that their mother is a psychotic serial killer and nobody knows that she is planning to take Mauro out as we speak aided by the satanic Cesar: together these two devils are planning a bloody coup of the Montesino Empire!
End of episode but not the discussion!
I'm happy that something - SOMETHING BIG - has gone right for Amaya but NOBODY is out of danger with Cesar AND Lu running around with poison. That is, if Lu got it. What she asked for was 100% Potassium. The clerk said that concentration could be fatal and she couldn't sell it without a prescription. As I said, the wad of cash was flashed but we didn't see if the clerk accepted the bribe.
Guess we'll find out tomorrow!
Connie should also be concerned, now that he knows she's not the harpy they all thought.
Kelly
I hope they don't off Mauro in some fulfillment of him wanting to go be with Florencia. Let him have some non-Lu years is right!
I'm afraid for the rest of the family and friends cause I'm sure these two devils are going out in a big blaze!
Anon, we ALL want Mauro to have some non-bitch years. Even though I've had my problems with it, I feel pretty certain they're setting up Elo to heal Mauro's heart which is "rompido" into a million pieces! AND the last four or five weeks are going to be as exciting as this whole thing has been. Even before it's finish, this is definitely in my top 5 of Mexican novelas!
Hi, Anita! Thanks for checking in. I miss you! Can't wait to hear your reaction to this moving and gratifying episode!
Please weigh in Sneaky, Leila and our other friends out there! Vivi!, I know you're having fun in REAL Mexico, can't wait to hear from you as well!
See y'all later!
Poor guy had to hear graphic details of her death!
And how grateful is Juliana going to be to Amaya when she finds out that Cesar has been poisoning her and Alan? She'll be kissing her feet (but, ugh, not literally like in Sombra) for getting her son out of harm's way.
Leila
PS - Lila, great recap!
I'm recapping Sombra tonight so I'm hoping some of our other QA friends will help pull together a little sum of what remains to become known. Or, hey! I could go back and print out the shoe-dropping introduction and tick off which shoes remain in the air!
I hope our other friends join us to discuss this dynamite week over the weekend!
LOVE to chew the fat with you this weekend, Girl!
Peaceful vibes))))))))))))
Kelly
Healing vibes to Mauro))))))))))
Thanks, Kelly, see you later!

-Panteón-
Mauro continues his conversation with Florencia about knowing her daughter and granddaughter, while Amaya looks on and cries. She tells him her mother can finally rest in peace. “She was an angel who had to live with a demon”, says Mauro, I think referring to David. They hold hands and embrace again, both crying. How is he going to unmask Lu? He’ll confront her. Amaya worries about him, but he’s not worried and he’ll keep her name out of it. He’s going to confront her, but not as Mauro. As Florenica. They’ll meet face to face. Amaya wonders what Mac will think when he knows the truth. He understands that this wasn’t easy for her, being with someone she didn’t love, but he doesn’t know what will happen next. He does know that Max still loves her. Amaya realizes she was dishonest, and she says things I didn’t really catch. Stuff about max not getting Cesar’s affection for his mother.
Then Mauro wonders if, with everything else, Cesar isn’t a victim of Lu also. No! Amaya is sure about this. He is capable of anything, including the death of the photographer to get the camera card. Cesar has always known about her continued love for Max, but he couldn’t wait any longer and he raped her. She cries again- god this is such a difficult afternoon for them both- and he holds her, but with a look of calm anger at Cesar. He doesn’t get why; Cesar is his blood. She tells him that Cesar wants to destroy Max. Mauro apologizes for all her suffering. He’s by her side now. He admires her bravery and her sacrifice, and she says she’ll be strong to finish what she started.
-Chiapas Jail-
Ceci has been found to be not in her right mind and will need further study and a diagnosis. It’s 3 months in prison or something that I didn’t understand to go free. Beca on the other hand, due to her being Ivan’s mother and under Ceci’s charge, is free to go. She was found to be temporarily insane.
-Finca El Paraiso-
Max and Flavia make calls trying to replace the coffee that burned up. They aren’t having any luck since it’s all promised to other buyers. Max even offers more than the harvests are worth, but no luck. (What about Uli’s stash? Can’t they steal it? Uli owes them). Connie helps by leaning against Max, reminding him of her presence. There is talk about getting coffee from other countries, but it was marketed as 100% Mexican. Ivan and Mariana get back to the finca, and Mari happily tells then that Ivan is getting his memory back. But it’s due to seeing Cipriano. They can’t understand why he’s free. They decide Whoracio must have something to do with it, since Cip couldn’t have gotten out without money. Later, Heriberto comes in to the office where Flavia is working. He asks about her not being at the university, and she blames all the work they have at the finca. He gives her something (from him or a “secret admirer”?) He comes back later with some coffee for her, and asks about the work. He’s happy to help her out, which he does, because he’s a nice guy and this gives him a reason to sit close to her. Well played, Heriberto.
-Ugh. Him again-
Manuel and Geno are happy that they’ll finally be able to be together. Sadly, Jose is there also. He wants to know which is his room, and Manuel gives him his pick. The little $%#& picks Constanza’s. Manuel balks for 2 seconds, but Jose tells him not to worry. He can (very snippily) stay in the servants’ quarters. (The servant quarters are too good for him. So is a barn). He starts to sulk away and Manuel, naturally, gives in despite not being completely in agreement. Jose thinks this is just, (because the poor little darling had to suffer with only a mother to love him and a premium education that clearly didn’t work), and Manuel and Geno look like they just don’t know what to do. (Try ‘NO’).
-Comitan Cantina-
Cip and Whoracio are drinking, and Cip heads to the bathroom, giving Whor time to spike his bottle. When Cip gets back, Whor drops some money on the table and takes his leave. Cip keeps drinking, even though he makes a face like the booze tastes funny. He gets up, swoons around (or at least the camera swoons), and he falls to the ground. For some reason, the other guys in the cantina help him.
-Elo’s and Juliana’s-
Jorge gets to the house. He and Elo exchange pleasantries, and he finally asks about Juliana. Elo grins and offers to get her. Lucio hears and runs out to greet Jorge. Finally Juli comes out, and Jorge says he wants to talk to her. Elo takes the hint and gets herself and Lucio out of there. Jorge realized something very important. He wants to get a vasectomy so neither of them can have kids. Juliana and I are shocked. So drastic?, she asks. She asks if this means he’s serious about not having kids. He wants the relationship to be equal on this. Kisses, and we’re back on! Lucio sees and yells to Elo, and Juli is mortified, but in a good way.
-Montesino Mansion-
Mauro and Amaya head back. She expresses worry about his health, but no problem. He has pills to control his heart and promises to take care of himself. She promises to act as if nothing has changed, and hands him an envelope. Inside, Lu and Cesar are drinking martinis and being evil about killing Mauro with a “heart attack”. Cesar asks if she knows that Mauro and Amaya had lunch together. She did not.
Amaya and Mauro walk in and Cesar greets Amaya happily. Lu notes that Mauro doesn’t look good. He blames the coffee situation and being tired. He leaves. Amaya, however, stays and asks for a martini. Cesar happily makes it, but she moves away from his hand when he tries to touch her. Mauro, meanwhile, has gone outside. He bends over as though he’s having a heart issue, and his guys (security or something) come to see if he needs help. He brushes them off, and when they leave, he slips the envelope Amaya gave him under the door. He walks around the back way.
-MM-
During dinner, Amaya says she’s lost an earring, must have been when she came in the house. She asks the maid to check at the front door. (Smooth). Cesar and Lu toast. The maid comes back, not with the earring, but she did find the envelope. Cesar takes it and reads the letter inside from “Florencia”, who wants to meet where Lu caused the accident. Lu takes it from Cesar and reads. Amaya asks what the note says, and Lu says it’s from an old friend, even though she and Cesar look guilty. Amaya leaves to “look for the earring” in the car. Cesar and Lu talk about the letter and Lu having to be face to face with the woman she hates the most, while Amaya eavesdrops from around the corner. Unfortunately, she leaves before hearing the part about dispatching first with Flor and then with Mauro. She’s calling Mauro to let him know they got the letter, and to ask if he thinks Cesar knows they had lunch together. He thinks no, and they’ll be in touch.
-Comitan Hospital-
Cip has been dragged to the hospital by his buddy at the cantina (probably because his dying was getting in the way of everyone’s drinking). He’s crying for help and “Lo veo”. (Sees what? God? Satan? Go to the light, Cip!) Doctor Brother asks the buddy about family for Cip, but the guy doubts that Cip’s daughter will come.
-Elo’s/Juliana’s-
Mauro is back with everyone. They note that he looks a bit off, and he blames the coffee issue. Jorge is glad he’s there because he wants to talk to Mauro about being with his daughter. Mauro is very content with this daughter’s choice of men. Jorge promises to love and care for her, and for her son. He wants to take her out dancing to celebrate. She tries to say she can’t dance, but they are seen later at a club dancing anyway and having a good time.
-Montesino Mansion-
In their bedroom, Cesar snips at Amaya about not sleeping in the bed as she puts bedding on a chaise. He looks around the desk for the camera card, starting to get panicky, until Amaya tells him the maid put some of his stuff in the drawer, (the drawer where Amaya earlier hid the card, because for someone on the good side, she can sure be sneaky). He finds it, and she asks what it’s about. Why does she care?, he asks. Ugh, I don’t, but why? Is there something on there I should see? (smooth). He still wants her in bed, but no. He understands it’s a lot to deal with, the fire and Mariana. He says he’s worried about her economic situation now that the land isn’t worth as much. (Although it was fallow for decades and they still managed to bring it back). But Cesar wants to help her out by buying her “worthless” land. Jerk.
Kelly
I will refrain from teacher ranting.
What a hilariously succinct ending. César is huge jerk.
A couple of notes:
Mauro said that Florencia was an angel, while all these years he has had to live with a demon (Lucoocoo).
While eavesdropping, Amaya heard Cesar say he would go with her (Lu) to meet Flo, so she ran off to warn Mauro that he was going and to be extra careful. Mauro told her not to worry, he will see to it that Cesar doesn't go.
At the hospital Cipriano was screaming, "No veo!" It seems whatever Horacio put in his liquor somehow affected his vision. Not feeling sorry for him at all.
I don't feel sorry for the jerk either!
Cesar & Luc are SICK & TWISTED: Both need big anvils fast.
Mauro having to hear that Amaya was raped by Cesar was heartbreaking. I was worried he was going to have a heart attack right there at the church.
I feel sorry for Flavia & Max when they find out the ugly truth about Cesar & Luc!
Thank you, Kelly! You got a doozy, too! Yep, Cip fell on the floor having seizures after drinking that obviously off tasting booze and by the time they get him to the hospital, he's gone blind! Didn't take much for Whor to become a (as far as he knows) killer.
I want to see Cesar cringe and flail, and weep and moan and beg. I don't want him to die: that's too easy. I don't want a quick death for Lu either. I know she will maintain that everything she's done is justified and that all the people she's killed made her kill them. I think Ceci is on her way to becoming a Lucrecia.
Anyhoo, great episode!
Kudos on the recap. Just enough snark to help take us through a heartbreaking episode, but revelatory. I'm so glad Mauro believed her. It was an unbelievable story.
Sorry you got a Jose scene. He gets Consta's room because it's the biggest and she doesn't use it anymore? With all the other rooms in that house he has to have it? What a snot--if he couldn't have it, he might as well go sleep in the servants quarters. These two adults do not know how to parent a child, even a grown one.
Very SMOOTH recap. Another smooth move of Amaya's was deflecting, not answering and changing the subject every time Cesar asked where she was at lunchtime. He wants her to lie because his spy told him she had lunch with Mauro and then disappeared.
Of COURSE, the most dangerous people in this telenovela are still free to wander around and plot more evil deeds for a few more weeks (that's what has me worried about Mauro's meeting with Lu in a future episode).
Cecy gets out if she pays a big fine and is out on bail (while and undergoes treatment--and how long is that going to last), Uli is skulking around El D. (wasn't that a laugh how he could look out his finca window and see Mari & Iv sitting in the main square kissing--I guess it's called excellent long distance vision), Cesar is keeping his hands clean while he sends Whor to do his dirty work (in this instance I want Cippy to pull through), Lucrecia is about to go into high gear to protect herself.
I can't wait for Luce to try to explain to Mauro what she's doing in a place the note only described as where she and the note's author were last together and thought she had killed her.
Steve--I was more worried about Mauro when he was out in the garden by himself, after he delivered the note.
Lila--I agree with you about Cesar. Dying is to easy and not nearly as satisfying for those of us who had to live through his twisted evil machinations.
Hadn't thought of bringing Cesar to his knees in shame--he also needs to be outted as not being Mauro's son. If he had been a "good" son, it wouldn't have mattered to Mauro in the long run. Lucrecia is the one that molded him into a mini-Lu, long before he found out he *wasn't* Mauro's bio-son.
BooHoo, no cherry blossoms yet. They are about 10 days behind their normal blooming time.
I'll be back in the harness on Monday! What a great ride.
Shaming and humiliation are worse than death for Cesar. Out all the horrible things he's done: poisoning Juli and Alan, conspiring with Lu to take over the Nescafe empire, burning Max's prize crop and further trying to sink Max by intervening to stop him from being able to buy coffee from other growers. I'm convinced he's called other growers in the region calling in favors to make this happen. Plus, realistically, people DO have their harvests committed. Cesar also wants the ZE; expose him as the bastard son of Lu's agent, NOT a Montesinos and no way worthy of one single peso!
Yes, I want to see him break down and grovel in shame! I'm tired of his arrogance, his permanent scowl and the constant dismissing everybody as stupid, imbeciles, idiots and useless!
1.) Uli still on the run & looking out the window while Ivan & Mariana are kissing. Creepy stalker!
2.) Whoracio's anvil is coming, he just doesn't know it yet!
3.) Ivan's mother gets off Scot-free? BULL ******! She needs a mental institution!
4.) Juli & her new lover not having kids ? Crazy?
5.) Connie needs an anvil. She needs a big one to suffer!
6.) Elo needs to see who her psycho sister really is!
7.) The Dead Pool Hit list likely going to expand!
4) Kelly, Jorge told Juliana he already had a vasectomy. That night at El P. he discussed it, sorta, with Max. He decided to act on his conviction that he did not have to father children to be fulfilled or share his life with Juli. So, they're even and he eliminates her reason for "letting him go." With some horrendous stories in the real news and with people like Lu in our little fantasy, NOT having children is not crazy at all!
5) I think Connie is almost surely got to get an anvil, even if it's a "soft" one because she's in the way of Max and Amaya. I don't know if they're going to do the death in childbirth (which is NOT soft, please, nobody take offense!) or what, but Connie has got to go!
6) I agree but Elo knows her sister is psycho, just not to what depths!
This is going to be another exciting week coming up!
I think Cons is just clingy to any man. First her father (not leaving him to go be with Max in Italy even though Manuel is un hombre, hecho y derecho, and didn't really need her), and now with Max. Maybe Amaya being around just amplifies this. Or maybe I just don't like her and want her to be just horrible enough for Max to leave her, but not so horrible that she should have to die in childbirth to fix everything. She's no Jose, after all.
Kelly
He is a GROWN *** adult & responsible for his own actions!
Let's hope Mauro doesn't have a heart attack when he likely confronts Lu & Cesar!
Lila and Kelly- Thanks for the excellent recaps. So glad to know that Mauro didn't full collapse after getting that nuclear truth bomb from Amaya. It's wonderful that they are now working together, but I still worry about Mauro. Can't wait to watch these epis when I'm back.
These eps will be epic! Just you wait and see!
Everyone please enjoy this Holiday weekend. I'll pop in from time to time!
See y'all!
Mauro and Florencia were about to announce their plans to marry when Lu arrived at the finca with some important news for Mauro. He told her to go ahead and share it. Present were David, whom Florencia would LATER marry and of course Florencia. She announced in front of the three that she was pregnant with Mauro's baby.
Mauro DID NOT know Florencia was pregnant. So Mauro married Lu out of obligation because she also threatened to go far away, never let him see the child but make sure the child knew his dad was a dead beat dirt bag that wouldn't care for him.
Florencia's baby only lived a few days as we were told and Lu thinks she killed that baby. The new cute Dr. (whose name escapes me right now) is purposely played by the same actor who played young Mauro AND he was born in Chiapas but adopted and raised in Guatemala by a nurse, now deceased.
WE THINK perhaps this Nurse rescued the baby after Lu's attempt to kill it. Perhaps the Nurse was in on the plot and never intended to carry it out and so whisked the baby away with her to Guatemala and never returned to Mexico.
So. That is the long story behind why we are pretty sure Cute New Dr. is Mauro's thought-dead son. If Mauro ever sees him he will KNOW that is his son cause he looks just like Mauro when he was that age!
I'll be putting up a new headliner for next week before noon.
