TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: TIERRA DE REYES, DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO, etc. week of March 30, 2015

Greetings, Telemundites. We are back to one post for now. The Miserables has ended. Novela-wise, we have Tierra and Paraíso running right now and the rerun of Avenida Brasil starts next week. I don't consider The Bible to be a novela ;-) . Enjoy the week and Happy Easter.

LOS DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – LUNES – Parte 1 de 3

Delia tells Vero not to ask her how she knows Adán has a lover. Since she brought him into the world, how’s she not going to know this? [Wow, that’s some real special motherly ESP right there! I don’t think I’d have a clue if my son were having an affair!] Delia tells Vero that he’s been behaving oddly since he got back from the trip; Vero agrees. Delia tells her that, if she were smart, she wouldn’t have kicked him out at this very time. Delia suspects the woman is a Colombian; they’re all like that!

Gina comes to bring José Carlos a suit for the wedding as a gift for thanking him for getting her baby back. He wasn’t planning to go, but she reminds him how much it would mean to Paola. He tries the suit on. The attraction between them sparks up and they fall into bed together.

Evil Jorge tells Vanessa he wants her to help him get Analía into the drug business. [As what? Analía won’t want to go back and forth between the US and Colombia.]

At the high school the teacher announces that the girl who fell off the ladder is fine and will return to school soon. Chad is falling asleep in class. He tells Lu he’s going to cut the classes in the afternoon. She wants to come to see his new job, but he refuses. Lu stands up, announces she feels like vomiting because she’s pregnant, and walks out of class! She’s come to Casa Cardona to see her father. She admits she cut school. He agrees to take her with him but she has to stay in the car.

Gerardo Casanegra arrives at work with his fiancée Inés in the car with him. They get out of a Benz, and she’s rattling on and on like a fishwife about his not having told her Analía was back. He says it’s no big deal. “No big deal?” she says “This woman comes back after 7 years, the woman for whom you ran your car into a ravine. Why did she come here? To get you back?” As they walk into his office we see Analía waiting for him inside. Analía is calm, sweet, lovely – the antithesis of Inés. Inés accuses Analía of trying to get her modeling job.

Adán arrives at the beach where a portion of Cleopatra is being filmed. We see Érika, apparently topless, although from the distance shot, there’s a pier in the way. There’s a funny moment when a very old couple walk right in front, the old guy getting an eyeful. Sergio is furious. They take a break. Adán tells Érika he’s come to get the keys to Sergio’s studio.

Gerardo tells Inés that he and Analía are going to talk some about work and then they’re going to lunch. Her head practically explodes. Jorge shows up, talking about some event. Inés wants to know why they weren’t invited. Increasingly exasperated Gerardo tells her the event was full of the milicos, and he’s apolitical.

Leandro Quezada gives Iggy permission to have sex on his wedding night! Guess the morphine has prevented him from noticing they’ve been at it like rabbits for days. LQ helps Iggy with his tie. Iggy tells LQ that he thinks of him as if he were his father.

Paola and JC have a tender moment after he finally arrives at Casa Quezada. He tells her she looks beautiful. She says she knows he doesn’t care for Iggy, and thanks him for coming anyway.

JC calls someone in the hallway at Casa Quezada. “It’s me.” A woman’s voice: “I know, my love. I was awaiting your call.” JC: “You got here OK? Everything is fine here, just the way we planned.” The woman: “The moment is almost here!” Iggy has been eavesdropping in the background. He tells him he doesn’t fool him. He knows JC is up to something.

LOS DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – LUNES – Parte 2 de 3

Iggy asks to whom he was speaking. Iggy himself brings up Marina, and JC says that’s who he was speaking with. Iggy insists he call her back. JC, smoothly, calls Marina: Soy yo otra vez. Hay alguien aquí que quiere invitarte a su boda.

Adán is speaking with Érika at the beach where they’re filming Cleopatra. She wants him to stay and watch, but he says he can’t. Someone removes her leopard wrapper and she’s again nude from the waist up. She realizes that he’s embarrassed to see her that way. She asks him if he spoke with Vero and if she told him about their conversation. Adán says she didn’t; they hardly speak at all. Érika, now in full seduction mode, looks suggestively at him and says that she felt like telling Vero that she and Adán DO have something to hide. Luciana and Chad walk up. Lu is griping about Chad working for her father, mostly because she wasn’t told about it. Adán, annoyed: ¡Ahora estás igual a tu madre! He fobs her off by saying that he didn’t say anything because Chad todavía está a prueba (in a probationary period).

We see Iggy and Gina outside the church. Iggy has a huge scab on his temple courtesy of Anastasia Cardona. Iggy is freaked out that the bride is late.

Rita Corona is at the wheel while she and Saúl are out doing Ferrara’s bidding, find something before a week is up. Corona gripes about Silvana only talking to Riquelme. Saúl accuses her of being jealous. Rita turns on the radio and we hear the announcer talking about the apprehension of the Pajaritos, saying that they got between $2,000 and $5,000 per body.

Chad is helping some other guys unload the Alas de Mariposa into Sergio de Franco’s “studio”. Adán is looking on with Linda Barragán. She asks if Chad is going to work with him. Adán vehemently says no. Plus he doesn’t see himself in this business for much longer. But first he has una deuda de saldar (a debt to settle). [Spanish uses debt to settle when in English we’d say get revenge or get our own back.]

Rita recognizes the warehouse where Sergio films sus cochinadas. Another fine mess by Sergio de Franco, who insisted he wanted to “help out”. She tells Saúl that this could be something Ferrara would want to know about

[Okay. Was pornography illegal in 1977? How come Rita can point a gun at Adán and the rest of the people outside the warehouse and tell them to get on their knees?] Holding her gun at them she backs up to the car and reaches for her radio. She starts to ask for backup, saying they’ve got six suspects, when Saúl comes up behind her, his own gun drawn, and tells her to put down the radio and her gun. She lunges at him, and it looks like he hits her. He tells the guys to take her inside and gag her. Adán chews out Saúl, who really had no control over what Rita did. Adán says that no one can know about this location.

LOS DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – LUNES – Parte 3 de 3

At the church JC tells Iggy that he’s taking the second best woman in the world, the first being his mother. Iggy, perhaps the surliest groom in recorded history, snarls that that’s not what he heard about that zorra. JC lunges toward him, but Gina manages to separate them.

LQ and Paula are en route to the church in a Rolls Royce (I think). LQ surprises me by having some last minute doubts. He laments that he’s giving his daughter to someone as bad as he is. [NOW he realizes this is a bad idea!] Paola spots some blood on his shirt sleeve and gives him the business about taking morphine.

As Iggy and Gina go inside the church we see a Cardona henchman who calls Bob Venegas to tell him it’s time. Bob leaves his room carrying a long bag that just shouts high-powered rifle. We next see him at the fake perfume warehouse. Irene, always underfoot when you least want her around, coos at Bob, calling him mi amor. He gruffly says he’s on his way to work. She puts a medal of the Virgin Mary around his neck. Irene then sees another car arrive, and Anastasia getting into the backseat of the same car Bob has just gotten into, riding shotgun (or should I say riding rifle with a scope). Anastasia Cardona is going along for the hit on Iggy!! In the backseat she racks the slide on her pistol!

At the altar LQ tells Iggy that he’s giving him the most precious thing he has. He swears here, under God’s nostrils, that if Iggy makes her suffer or harms her, he’ll kill him.

We get a sort of extended homage to the Godfather movies. With a church choir singing the whole time, the scene alternates between the homily of the priest before the vows and Bob and Anastasia loading their weapons. After the rifle is loaded, Anas looks through the scope. [Anas, if I were you, I’d let Bob take the shot!]

what a great recap novelera!

I'm wondering if Gina isn't out for a meal ticket too, after all Leandro is supposed to be dying and it looks like JC might be the successor, plus she needs protection from Anas.

I also wonder who JC called, could it be his mother?

Lu sure is a brat, dumping school in the middle of a class, I can see why she is upset with both Chad and her dad not telling her.

will Rita get Victor Manuel's old room, I couldn't tell which way Saul was going to go, but then maybe he is trying to save her life.

Analia was looking pretty cool up until Ines gave Gerardo a kiss goodbye.

wow, Iggy couldn't do his tie, it was one that is already tied and goes around your neck with a clip.

Paola was looking pretty in her wedding dress.

ha, the flowers on the hood of the rolls, kind of hard to see where you are going, and Leandro changes to the black jacket of his drivers, (usually if you are going to get shot you wear white)

funny, Marina thanking Iggy for the invitation to his wedding, (I'm curious to know more about her)

if this was the gran final, I would guess Anas hit would be a success, but it's not, and Bob isn't standing in the always convenient balcony in the church, so I have no idea how this is going to go, and where is Renato?

Dueños

oh yeah, Anas warned Iggy about the wedding, but he didn't tell anyone, did he?

DUENOS:

Another great recap, Novelera!

I'm enjoying looking at all the classic cars. They're almost all high end, Mercedes, Cadillacs, Lincolns, I guess nobody preserved any normal cars (good thing our characters are all rich!). Yes, LQ was in a Rolls Royce.

Not only was Paola upset about LQ's morphine habit, Iggy wasn't too happy, either.

I agree, I don't see how Rita could just put everyone under arrest without a warrant, and without proof of any crime! But she's gonna pay for that decision.

When Irene gave Bob the medal of the Virgin Mary, I think he said he didn't believe in God. Big mistake, Bob, this is a telenovela. Better check your life insurance now!

Ines is very tall, I can see why she's a model. Somehow, her annoying personality makes her less attractive to me.

It sure is a crazy situation at the porno place, I think Lu is there, Chad, Adan, not to mention Sergio, Carmen and Erica. And of course Rita and Saul. I can't imagine how it's all going to play out.

I AM looking forward towards Anas and Bob crashing the wedding. But the chances of it's working out the way Anas wants are not good. I'm glad I'm not an innocent bystander at that wedding (much more dangerous than being one of the main characters).

DUENOS:

We now know that Jose Carlos is not gay.

Duenos-

Hombre- Unless he is just really, really into this revenge thing. I mean, Gina is quite stunning, no matter which side you play for. But I'm thinking maybe he's on the side of law enforcement. He's tough, but doesn't seem like a drug dealer. The whole issue with his mother may have to do with him being a witness to something Leandro doesn't like him knowing about.

Thanks, Novelera. Excellent recap. You cleared up my fuzziness, with laughs to boot. My fave: Anas, if I were you, I’d let Bob take the shot!

I sure hope nothing bad happens to Bob, cause Irene would have a cow.

I don’t want anything bad to happen to Rita because I like her. I thought Saúl could’ve handled it better. How is he going to explain to her why he hit her? She was rash though to start trying to arrest folks.

So Adán takes Lu along as he goes to visit Érica and expects Lu to just wait in the car, really?

I guess I’m more shallow than Paola. I would be so ticked that the groom has a big honking wallop on his head in all our wedding photos.

Strange, I’m rooting for Alejo. He’s got more heart than Analia, though I can’t blame her for looking out for No. 1 and her kids by trying to get Gerardo to protect her.

Duenos

Gracias Novelera, superior recap

Odd, LQ fixed Iggy's tie, then when he was talking to JC about his phone call, he didn't have a tie on, it was back for the boda, ?Que what? I do see a lot more on the computer.

Gina has a good eye for sizing up a man & can get the perfect fit, pant & sleeve length, girth. Amazing. I'm liking JC more & more, it almost seems like he is in Anas corner, but probably more likely on the side of the law to bring down his papa.

First time I've said it, but I might need to dust off my beanie.

Thanks Julia for the recap - its excellent

My internet access is going to be more hit and miss than usual this week, so while I'll probably be watching I may not post anything else, and I don't have time to post a recap of Monday's ep.
Sorry

but
re: Mon

Oh I hate Valverde so much right now - death's too good for him
Not as much as Brigitte though
Pobre de Brigitte
Nestor Save Her!

i wish someone could do a tierra de reys english recap like all other shows.

TIERRA

As usual, I am behind on watching, but I will post summaries of episodes as I've seen them if someone else hasn't already written them up. It isn't the same to watch a telenovela and not be able to talk about it with people! I'm glad for the company here! I'll probably watch Monday's tonight. Maybe even tonight's, if I'm not too tired by then. I'm kind of an early bird.

Tierra

Thanks, Julia, for volunteering to do some recaps. I'm only watching Dueños, but I truly appreciate anyone who takes the time to post something that will stimulate conversation.

Dueños del Paraíso... epi 56, Tuesday
part 1

and the violins played on...

Chad gets the job of taking Rita Corona to Victor Manuel's old home (the basement), Renato gives him a gun, and at the top of the steps, she falls, and rolls to the bottom, Chad looks a... kind of new at this.

Gerardo, Jorge, Vanessa, and Analia meet for lunch ?? (outside, surrounded by servants and security) and offer Analia a job, flying to Miami/Atlanta/New York, Analia's excited, she doesn't have any contacts in Chile anymore, until she hears the part they will be carrying cocaine in their luggage, no, I have kids, no, no, I should go...

(was Jorge mumbling something about exterminating communists?)

Elizondo and Paola are wed, as the wedding party moves outside of the church, a big white car (with a gun barrel poking out the rear window) comes down the street, Anas takes careful aim through the big scope and fires, shoots Iggy in the privates, then it's on to handguns, for her and Bob, and the usual mayhem as the driver, looking bored waits for instructions to get the hell out of there.

Leandro mumbles about rings of security.

Saul visits Rita (who is hiding under the stairs), makes the usual pitch about how cops are used and discarded, why don't you join us? Rita gets all good cop on him and he says, well there is the other option, he raises his gun and gives his toothpick a twirl, I kill you.

Anas makes it back, let's Renato know it's a done deal, he is so very proud of her, as Saul pops in, says Rita will join us, I didn't really get all this but I don't think Anas was buying it all and so Renato is off to check things out.

Ferrara is questioning the cleaning duo, and our crazies are hanging on, sort of, Marcelo has like an epileptic fit, after things calm down Ferrara is back at it, (this couple is so strange and wouldn't they be) and in walks Silvana, who has been watching from the other side of the glass, she wants a moment with them, and gets the woman to talk about her brother, till finally Silvana grabs her by the hair and tries to drag her over the table, Ferrara breaks them up.

so Ferrara is pulling out whats left of his own hair, then asks Riquelme where Saul is,
oh he went out with Rita but they haven't come back.

Adan stops by to see Vero, good news, bad news thing, David is taken care of,
did you kill him, Vero timidly asks,
no, but he will never rape again, Adan says,
and I'd like a favor, dinner ?? here tomorrow with Anas and Conrado.

Leandro and JC talk at the hospital while Paola checks on Iggy, JC looks deeply concerned that Paola was hurt by all this, they both vow revenge in the worst way.

Paola does some praying in the chapel while Iggy goes into convulsions, (I'm thinking if he lives he will be fighting Leandro for some of that morphine)

at the porno pic studios a former star from "Kiss of the Pussycat" wants some more fame and fortune, but Sergio shines her on until she explains she was only 16 when they made that earlier film, what? (and how much jail time will that be) and I didn't get all this, was Sergio talking about making horror films where she is the villaina and gets killed, anyway I think she gets a part in Cleopatra.

Dueños del Paraíso... epi 56, Tuesday
part 2

Anas and Conrado come by Adan's (now Vero's place) and they chat, Adan says I quit, (I hope he got Anas away from her gun first), Anas tries to talk him down, the cops have nothing on us, (like with Alejo, Adan reminds her), we're talking billions, security for your wife and daughter, if we walk out the door, things will never be the same between us, he doesn't back down, and they finally leave while Conrado says he will talk to Adan, oh and he has some vague place he needs to go.

and as Sergio is working on another masterpiece (did he tell Erika once, who needs a script) Conrado shows up, and stays to watch a nude scene with Harry Torso, of course he is smoking, and having a cigarette too.

later in Erika's dressing room, Conrado is yelling at her, overheard by Sergio and Carmen (those two must have something like an open marriage), so Sergio calls Anas, having problems with Erika and....
and why are you bothering me with this stuff, Anas wants to know,
well because Conrado is here...

ut oh! (from the look on her face)

DUENOS:

Great one, Deb! My favorite was Conrado is smoking, and having a cigarette, too. Hah!

I hope Analia does agree to Jorge and Vanessa's plan, because she'll be a stewardess, and I want to see her in that outfit.

I find it hard to believe that Rita will really work with Anas and crew, I think Anas told Renato to keep an eye on every move she makes.

I'm glad I was wrong, thinking that lots of people would get killed at the wedding, it was just Iggy, and not killed, just shot where it counts. Anas is very satisfied. And she's happy all her drug routes are fine, all the money's being laundered. But face, it, she's got major problems. 1) Leandro and JC, 2) Silvana, 3) Rita, 4) Conrado, 5) Ferrara, 6) Adan maybe leaving. Her celebrations may not last too long.

There was a porn actress named Traci Lords (who later became a mainstream actress), who was 16 in her first few films. The distributors withdrew all the earlier films to avoid prosecution (so in theory Sergio could do that). It didn't really seem fair to Sergio when they did check all sorts of documents to see if the girl was 18, and later she says she faked them all. But the law is the law. Sergio was just fantasizing about that horror movie, but since he knows Anas, she could make it come true.

I don't think Adan is going to be able to leave the business.

And that word is what Leandro said when Paola cried and cried, why did this happen to Iggy? Leandro said, it's the business.

TIERRA

Monday and Tuesday episodios:

While the wedding is underway and after we've seen Sam's head through a gun sight, the young guy who's Juana's son (?) gets a call and slips out to alert one of the police guys. They sneak around and apprehend some guy posing as a caterwaiter who was going to shoot Sam (obviously hired by Boris, I mean Ezequiel or whatever his name is).

Meanwhile Andrea is outside crying and shooting cans off the fence. Pablo has a talk with her about being brave enough to at least try for the one you love, but of course Andrea still insists she'd never be with a peon like Samuel.

So the wedding goes off without a hitch, much to the displeasure of Boris and Natasha. At the reception, Veronica catches the bouquet just as Pablo shows up. He asks her to marry him. Her beanie still has her convinced she cannot possibly break her prior engagement, so off she will go to London. Boo. Poor Pablo.

Arturo and Nestor warn Sam that someone tried to have him killed. Eh, Sam's pretty used to that by now.

Sam and Beatriz have a romantic wedding night at home and yadda yadda yadda. When they're asleep, Boris and Natasha swap the pills so she'll die and Samuel will be blamed. Soledad wanders out in her nightie and sees them with the pill bottles.

Brigitte missed the wedding because she was busy being raped by Valverde. UGH. What's more, he has her mother being held somewhere in Mexico. Mama thinks this nice house where she's been taken was a surprise from Brigitte and her rich new fiance. So now Brigitte is coerced into keeping silent about the rape so they don't torture or kill her mother. She has to pretend on the phone that everything's okay. She goes back to Nestor's place and sobs and curls up in bed. When he comes home, he doesn't buy any of the excuses she tries out for why she's in bed crying. He wants to know who did what to her.

No one but the newlyweds is getting any sleep. Andrea thinks about taking sleeping pills and yells about hating Sam until her grandfather comes in and tries to talk her into not denying how she really feels, although with Sam married it's now a little moot. Oh, earlier she overheard Dario telling Irina that it didn't seem at all like Sam married Beatriz for money; they seemed really happy and in love and he seems to adore her. Irina is stressed about filming with Flavio. Sofia thinks Arturo has taken up with Isadora. Cayetana is hot and bothered waiting for Leo to come home, but he's off at the bar oozing on Isadora, who tells him she's no longer interested in him because she's in lurve with Arturo.

Leo and his goon got the fiscal to agree to drop the investigation by threatening a scandal, i.e. releasing compromising photos of him with a woman who was sent by Leo to set him up.

So Flavio and Irina do the perfume ad together. IT. IS. AWFUL. Who gave the go-ahead for this crap? They should both have quit, but not for the reasons they wanted to. It involves "natives" in garish facepaint and feather headdresses who have Irina tied to a post and are about to set her on fire. Flavio rides up on his trusty steed and shoots the rope, freeing her, she jumps on his horse and they kiss. Irina doesn't want to do the kiss and the director hates the first take. On the second, they get so into it that they keep kissing passionately long after "corte!" and Irina says see, she CAN act. But the ad is still racist and terrible.

Miranda takes Veronica to the airport to make sure she gets on the plane this time.

Samuel and Beatriz are heading off to Europe for a honeymoon.

At some point Leo and Cayetana made out and it was gross.

There was some more detail with Valverde but I tuned out that part.

Dueños

Thanks, Deb. Terrific recap.

Analia certainly went to the wrong man to protect her from Alejo’s drug world. At least Alejo didn’t try to turn her into a mule. Analia would be an idiot to step a foot back into the U.S.

Hombre, my guess is the writers and producers want her in a stewardess outfit too, so off she’ll go.

At first I thought Anas and Bob were very bad shots, until I realized the intent was to maim and not kill.

How could Anas and crew ever trust Rita? In real life, Rita would be dead. She’s a good cop and will not turn, so I hope she’s good at faking it.

JC knows Iggy was no good for his sister. I’m wondering if he’ll have a change of heart about revenge on the Cardonas.

Sergio and Carmen are low, implying to Anas that Conrado and Érika were doing it in her dressing room.

Maybe we'll get some “All About Eve” backstabbing on the porno set now that an aggressive young “actress” has showed up?

Dueños

Thanks, Deb. That was such a funny, insightful recap. Love your style.

Hmm. I guess Analía WILL be desperate enough to start muling for Gerardo and Jorge. The thing that’s confusing to me is the Chilean end of things. They seemed to have Alas de Mariposa and Inés actually snorted some and her nose bled. But who’s their connection? I haven’t seen any evidence they’re doing business with Anastasia. Leandro only has what he bought from Ronnie Zamora, the Cuban. He doesn’t have Alas. And what we saw Vanessa bring back was money. ?????

I guess everyone but me caught on that Anas only wanted to blow away Iggy’s offending “parts”. I was thinking she should have let Bob take a head shot. But a really motivated enemy appears to be surviving. This was before the era of medical advances that got John Wayne Bobbitt a gig in porno films, so I doubt Iggy will “function” any more. At least I hope not.

I really hate Ferrara interrogating anyone. I don’t love the Pajaritos, but his constant threats to underlings that they’ll never see their families again get on my nerves.

Yep, Sergio really is a snake. His motivation doesn’t make much sense, though. Unless he thinks Anas will have Conrado killed. If Anas breaks up with Conrado, then he’d just be more than ever back in Erika’s life.

Julia thank you sooo much. I don't get off till 10 or 11 sometimes. So i go here for recaps. Thank you again.

TIERRA

Thank you, Julia

I managed to catch up on last week's and this week's shows. A few random notes from what I remember:

- I was never truly into Sofia and Arturo because of his constant pouting, but when he visited her and kissed her belly, I just about fainted. And cried a little bit, too. That Sofia must be a rock!
- Cayetana is turning out to be quite the jealous type. When she told Leonardo she won't be able to go to sleep until he home, I cracked up. Leo used to complain that Sofia didn't pay any attention to him - let's see how he acts when his lady friend starts suffocating him
- loved the talk between Andrea and Pablo about fighting for love, even if it proves to be in vain; Andrea would have so given in to Samuel if he had given her the time of day. Then again, if she had acted more like a human and less like a total biotch, maybe he would have
- kudos to Pablo for speaking his mind to Veronica; do you guys think that she's coming back before her wedding?
- poor Bridgitte! I was sure that Valverde will kill her, but this is somehow worse
- Irina and Flavio make live in teh woods again - I hope they use protection, a Gallardo bastard is enough for poor Cayetana
- do we all think that Andrea's head will explode the fastest when they all find out about Cayetana and Leonardo doing the yucky behind their backs? I mean, she thinks her mother is the best and Leo is a saint.

TIERRA
Sorry, I meant to write that Irina and Flavio make love.

DUEÑOS, Miércoles

Sergio and Carmen have told Anas that Érika and Conrado have been in her dressing room for quite a while. This does not please Anas, who heads over to the studio. Conrado tells Érica she really needs to stop this nudity, and he didn’t like how she was touching the male actor. She says it’s just business, she doesn’t feel anything for the male actors. And besides, who are you to tell me what to do? Your not my husband, you’re not my boyfriend anymore, you’re nothing to me. This doesn’t faze Conrado in the least, I’m the man who will always love you. He starts to kiss her, and for a few minutes, we think they’re going to do it again, but she pulls back. At about this moment, Anas has arrived and is outside the door. She hears Conrado tell Érika, “me and Anastasia? That’s just a game. It’s just a hobby.” Ooops. Anas enters, and asks to speak to Conrado alone. She tells him that the worst thing someone can do to her is betray her. And he’s done that. He’s hurt her, when she loved him. He didn’t break her heart, since it’s already been broken so many times, but it still hurts. Was he just after her money? She really doesn’t let him answer, just leaves him with his guilt (which, by the way, he still doesn’t have AT ALL).

Vanessa IS able to convince Analía to be a stewardess and carry drugs in their luggage. Analía told her she couldn’t, she wants to protect her children. Well, that’s why you should, for THEM, replies Vanessa. You don’t have a peso, and with just this one flight, you’ll be able to provide for your children for years. Vanessa later tells Gerardo, and they have sex! Yes, so much for her loyalty to Jorge and his to Ines. Ines almost catches them, but not quite. Jorge also has told Gerardo they should work with the Cardona clan (Anas) to get their drugs to the US. He also has the idea that they will mix their crappy 48% pure coke with Anas’s 100% Alas de Mariposa, and make lots of money. This sounds like more trouble to me.

Analía’s husband Alejo is having problems in jail. First, a guy splatters Alejo’s lunch all over him, picking a fight. Then later, that guy and another guy beat Alejo to a pulp. If that wasn’t all, while Alejo is lying on the ground bloodied, a big guy comes in and pulls down his zipper, preparing to hand Alejo the ultimate humiliation. Ewwwww.

Adán tells Verónica that he’s quitting the business. However, this does NOT get her back, she’s as resolute as ever. Delia tells her all she does is complain and be angry. Vero also finds out that Chad is working for Adán, and although Adán told Chad he was getting out of the business, so Chad would have to stop, too, Vero doesn’t care about any of it, she tries to tell Adán to do what’s moral. It may be too late for that.

DUEÑOS, Part 2

It’s prom night! (I think, they were actually calling it graduation). Chad is wearing a ruffled blue shirt with a white dinner jacket (or maybe the other way around). Lu has a boring gown. Daytona and the mean girls stop by, with much more colorful gowns, and Daytona worms her way into the picture Vero is taking with her Instamatic. I’m sure we’ll have some more drama at the prom. Lu doesn’t like Chad working with her father, wants them to go “far away”. As if that’ll happen.

Silvana is despondent over Elias. She wants Riquelme to keep looking, but he pulls her back to reality, Elias is dead, and there’s nothing left of him to bury. He’s worried that Silvana will be the next target. She wants him to guard her personally, as he’s the only cop she can trust, but he says he just can’t do that. As he leaves, a woman comes in, it’s Riquelme’s fiancé, I didn’t catch her name, maybe Aleida, and upon finding out who Silvana is, Aleida tells Silvana she knows there’s something going on between her Mauricio and Silvie, did they sleep together?! Silvana assures her that she just trusts Riquelme, that’s all, but Aleida isn’t happy.

Neither is Rita, who comes into the office with a story that her mother was sick, personal problems, that’s where she was. Renato earlier had laid down the law, no phone calls when you’re with us, he’s going to be watching her. Saúl also came in with a story about getting stuck in traffic. Ferrara announces that Internal Affairs is really close to finding out who the snitch is, and each one of them is going to be interviewed separately.

Leandro assures Paola that they’ll get revenge on Anas and her crew, especially Anas. Iggy, attached to lots of tubes, can only think back, first remembering the rape of Anas, which he liked, and then when Anas surprised him in the strip club with a gun pointed to his groin, which he didn’t like. He remembers that she said “you’ll remember me.” I know it sounds strange, but I think he sort of likes her in his twisted way.

When Adán leaves Vero after his latest failed attempt to get her back, Linda is right outside waiting for him. They go to a restaurant, where she tries to seduce him. He tells her he’s trying to rebuild his marriage, but she is skeptical. She doesn’t want to be just an amiga. Remember how wonderful it was when they made love? He does. But, he says this is not the time. I have to resolve things. Fine, she replies, I can wait a few months, and then....she slips off her high heel, and brings her red polished toes up between his legs. Her little foot starts rubbing along Adáns pants, higher, higher.....but somehow, with superhuman effort, Adán resists, gets up, and walks away.

Ferrara tells Irene and Anas they have to accompany him to the station. I don’t know how he can justify this, but they go, and they’re in the interrogation room, just waiting. Modesta tells Renato, who rushes down to the station, asks Rita what’s going on. She says there aren’t any charges, Ferrara is just going to question them. We see him looking at Anas and Irene through a one-way mirror. Inside, Anas is deep in thought (about Conrado), but Irene is chatty as usual, although Anas is trying to shut her up. I don’t actually think they know Ferrara is watching and listening. Irene says something like, I understand, you really love Conrado. On the other side of the glass, Ferrara clenches his fists in triumph, saying to himself, I’ve got you NOW!

Thanks, Hombre. Fine recap. I appreciate the details on what Jorge and Gerardo want to do. I couldn’t stand them before, and now more so.

I was embarrassed for Anas having everyone overhear Conrado basically downgrading their relationship. Kate was excellent in that scene.

So sad to see Alejo brutalized in prison. Hope he recovers from this.

I’m totally on Vero’s side. Adán letting Chad get involved is unconscionable. But Vero still needs to get a job.

Nope, Lu’s dress wasn’t memorable at all. Maybe that’s the only one she found that would hide her tummy.

That scene of Iggy remembering Anas saying “you’ll remember me” was quite powerful. I love Anas getting her revenge, though I’m afraid for the price she may have to pay for it.

Lu looked out the window and spotted Adán with Linda. Linda doesn’t look like she’ll take “no” lying down, uh, sitting up, and coming outside Adán’s house in the first place was pretty ballsy.

So is Adán saving himself for his wife, or for his neighbor?

Irene, will you please just shut up? I get the feeling maybe Anas realizes they’re being watched. Poor Anas is sure not getting a chance to revel in fixing Iggy.

Dueños

thanks so much Hombre,
love your recaps!

so Chad is liking his new job, as he shows Lu a big wad of cash, interesting that Lu wants to leave Miami since she has been so close to her dad, but maybe she is not liking all the secrets, later she notices Adan outside with Linda.

Chad and Lu make a nice couple, until Daytona and the girls come along as part of the group.

and so this Cerro bodyguard guy will take them to graduation ??

oh so Silvana sees her own pic on the suspect wall in Riquelme's office, before meeting Riquelme's fiancé.

Saul fascinates me, this time as he eats a donut at Rita's desk reminding her that he saved her life as Ferrara walks into their conversation looking for the informant.

not sure why Alejo is getting hit on in jail, but apparently Anas has abandoned him, as well as his good buddy Conrado.

that Vanessa (Alejo's sister) is a wild woman.

I will recap tonight's episode (Thursday).

Thanks so much, Hombre for the fine recap!

So they finally explained Jorge and Gerardo's drug plans. They're not going to be getting Alas de Mariposa from South America, rather having the women smuggle it in. Great! The cowardly jerks stay safe at home while Vanessa and Analía take all the risks.

They explained why Rita cooperated. I was wondering why she wouldn't just tell them what they wanted to hear and, once free, rat out Saúl. But they got a list of all her family members and said they'd die if she didn't play ball.

The scene with Iggy's memories from the hospital bed had, I think, a possible other interpretation. At the very end they showed a tear running down his cheek. Is it at all possible he's remorseful and has realized he brought the whole thing on himself? Or, if he knows his sex life is gone, maybe he's crying for that. There was no dialog, so we could draw all sorts of conclusions. The tear was the only thing that caused me to think differently than his enjoying remembering raping Anas.

If Iggy really is emasculated, I can't see LQ wanting him as a son-in-law. He already told him to get her pregnant on the wedding night! Iggy may have no further value for LQ.

I could NOT believe Daytona and the Skanks (sounds like a 60's girl group, doesn't it?] were going along to the Prom as well. First Daytona tells Lu how nice her dress is and how pretty she looks, then says the dress hides her barriga quite well. What a b!tch!

here are some things I found on Chilean cocaine
...........................
"Another route of cocaine traffic goes through Chile, this route is primarily used for cocaine produced in Bolivia since the nearest seaports lie in northern Chile. The arid Bolivia-Chile border is easily crossed by 4x4 vehicles that then head to the seaports of Iquique and Antofagasta."
...........................
"By the early 1970s, Chile had become an important regional center for cocaine processing. The problem had become sufficiently acute to occasion the passage of the country's first antinarcotics law by Allende's Popular Unity government early in 1973. Later that year, the military government formed a special narcotics unit within the Caribineros (a Spanish or South American frontier guard or customs officer) and began a big crackdown. This was highly effective, bringing the narcotics problem under control within a year."

"Since the early 1980s, drug trafficking has been growing in Chile. The country has become more prone to drug trafficking not only because of its geographic configuration and location, bordering on the world's two leading producers of coca--Peru and Bolivia--but also because of its economic stability. With its openmarket economy and bank-secrecy laws, Chile is an attractive haven for money laundering. A number of drug traffickers who were expelled by the military regime after the 1973 coup cultivated contacts with drug-trafficking groups while living in exile in the United States and Europe. On returning to Chile to reside, these traffickers, acting as finance men and heads of operations, profited from their international contacts."
http://www.country-data.com/cgi-bin/query/r-2559.html
...........................
also Pinochet, who assumed power after the coup in 1973, is said to have amassed a fortune in the cocaine trade.

"Pinochet ordered the army to build a clandestine cocaine laboratory in Talagante, a rural town 24 miles from Santiago. There he had chemists mix cocaine with other chemicals to produce what Contreras described as a "black cocaine" capable of being smuggled past drug agents in the US and Europe."
............................
in the news, (2009)
"Police say two suitcases carried by a woman who was about to fly from Chile to Spain were made of cocaine, (a "chemical process" could be used to separate out the drug)"

LOS DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – JUEVES – Parte 1 de 3

In the interrogation room at the Miami police, idiot Irene continues trying to get Anas to say something. Then Ferrara bursts in. Anas is sarcastic with him, and he grabs her by the throat and then forcefully puts her head down on the table. He tells her to be calm or he’ll put her in handcuffs. Riquelme just lost my respect. This doesn’t seem to bother him a bit, and he drags Irene out.

In Santiago the disgusting Jorge brings Gerardo to some sinister looking building. Gerardo didn’t even know where they were going. Jorge suggests they swap women: he with Analía and Gerardo with Vanessa. Gerardo managed not to smirk in his face since he’s already been with Vanessa.

Anas jumps back and then gets right in Ferrara’s face. “Threats! That’s all you know how to do because you don’t have anything against me." He gets about an inch from her face and tells her he’ll put her in jail for life. Anastasia: De lengua me como un taco. (Tongue I eat in a taco. I think she means that’s the value HIS flapping tongue has.) She goes on: “Why did you bring me here? To impress your bosses? Whoops, didn’t work out.” He grabs her by her hair and tells her the interview isn’t over. Anas: "It’s over for me. Who do you think I am? Some campesino that you torture to get information on some cheap traffickers? It won’t be so easy with me.” He tells Benavides to handcuff her.

Renato and Olmeda are at the police station worrying. Irene tells them what Ferrara did to Anastasia inside. Riquelme does have the decency to look ashamed.

Back in the interrogation room Ferrara doesn’t seem to get it. He turns on a tape recorder and tells her to start singing. As if. He names all the socios and asks if she knows them.

It turns out that Jorge has brought Gerardo to meet with a man who was a friend of Jorge’s father. He calls him Tío. Tío gets right to the point. “You want me to use my contacts to import these crappy drugs into Chile.” The lights dim and we hear horrible female screams. The ghastly not really uncle says that they scream like they’re giving birth. They’re little animals. Gerardo is up like a shot and out of there. Tío turns out not to mind the drugs so much. He just wants his commission.

At a restaurant somewhere Conrado makes an ass of himself. He wants to drink alone, well with Adán, so he makes the owner close the whole place and gives him wads of money.

LOS DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – JUEVES – Parte 2 de 3

Back to the police station. Anas gives Ferrara a look of unbelieving scorn. “You think because you turned on the recorder and then called me Señorita, this is going to work. My name is Muriel Cabrera." She says she’s not going to say another word without a lawyer. He says what’s on the tape could be used in a trial. She practically laughs. She says that, just to show him she’d like to cooperate, she does know Esparza. He’s an associate of her husband, Elias. Ferrara talks to the recorder saying that the interviewee used a false name. Anas: ¡Ya estuvo! “That’s it! I’m sick of this! You have me here handcuffed answering stupid questions because you’re incompetent. You have nothing on me!"

Back in Chile Tío takes Jorge back to the room where they’re torturing the woman. He says her name is Mina and that, together with her father and brother, they’re with an organization called Operation Return. He says this group is reorganizing to come back to fight. [I assume he means supporters of Allende that are in exile] These two monsters begin torturing Mina.

We see Esparza in his cell, badly beaten. He’s remembering when Conrado told him, just before they took him away, that they’d help him. But he has to keep quiet. [I think Ferrara is having him beaten in prison. Those guys looked like guards to me.]

Ferrara has to give up. He takes off her cuffs. She tells him he’s going to pay for this with interest.

At the restaurant Conrado tells Adán he doesn’t know what to do about Érika. He goes on to say that she’s a child. She doesn’t know how to make her own decisions. She can’t live without him. [All over novelaland women are gagging.] Adán remembers Érika telling him that it was all over with Conrado and again coming on to him.

We see a scene or two at the prom. Daytona is supposed to be all that, but doesn’t have a date. There’s some plot with she and the skanks to drug Chad. Chad is declared Prom King and Daytona Prom Queen. Lu, not the brightest bulb, leaves. Oh, earlier she told him she’s not sure she wants to have the baby. I’m sure he’ll pass out and some compromising pictures will be taken.

LOS DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – JUEVES – Parte 3 de 3

Adán asks Conrado which he’d choose. Conrado says Érika. Adán tells him that it’s all over with Érika. She’s not going to quit acting in those movies. But Anas cares for him. Conrado decides he’s right; he’s got to talk with Anastasia right away.

At the hospital LQ is telling José Carlos about Iggy having raped Anastasia in Mexico. Paola walks up on this conversation and says everything that happened is her father’s fault. He sent Elizondo to Mexico!

At the police station Renato talks to Irene and Olmeda. He wonders where the “socios” are. He says they’re right there for the money. But when there’s trouble… Anas comes out. Ferrara tells her not to leave town for 2 weeks. There will be more interrogations. [Is Elias Cardona the only person who passed the bar in Florida?] Anas asks Renato where Conrado is.

Well, he’s at the only strip club in Miami. He gets ready to put the moves on the only lap dancer in Miami who proceeds to tell him she’s getting a part in the new Sergio di Franco movie, Cleopatra! He’s outta there!

Benevides has a drink with Rita Corona and gives her a fat envelope of money.

When Anas and Conrado get back to the house, there’s a note. Anas says that she knew Conrado didn’t know she was arrested. Renato tells her to be very careful with Ferrara’s interrogations.

They talk about a way to get Rodrigo without going in shooting and risking the baby. We then see that Daisy has been hired as the babysitter! Gina left him to go to Ft. Lauderdale. [Now this makes NO sense.]

Renato gets close to Anas and says that Conrado doesn’t deserve a single tear. His face is full of love, and he tells her she’s a fabulous person. She deserves someone to care for her. He says, looking down humbly: Yo siento que yo podría, talvez… (I feel that maybe I could be …) Anas doesn’t let him finish. She says that she doesn’t like what he’s saying right now. Oh, Anastasia, you dummy!!!

Julia, Sneaky TS, Adriana-Thanks for the recaps and highlights, Its Audit season at the office and I haven't been watching.

Adriana- I am also hoping Irina doesn't get pregnant!
- I don't think Vero will come back before getting married. In telenovela rules Pablo needs to date Rocio first so he can discover she ratted them out to Vero's mum.
-Its just gross how Cayetana and Leo are over each other. I am with you on A ndreas' reaction when she finds out. Seriously how do they expect the family to accept their relationship?

I cannot wait for the day Cayetana discovers everything her sainted Leo has done to hurt her and her family!

Poor Bridgette, I hope she tells Nestor everything soon.

DUENOS:

Thanks, Novelera, this was another wonderful recap, with lots of dialog and explanations of things I had missed.

I was surprised that Lu is considering abortion, given the usual telenovela slant against it, but in the 70's, I think opposition may not have been as strong as now. Also, the writers continue to show that not one person in this show is all good.

Ferrara really is inept, although I'm not sure exactly what he could do to catch the druglords. He tried an informant (Elias) and look how THAT worked out. Saul was able to get lots of pictorial evidence, couldn't they try something like that? But just bringing in the suspects and asking them to confess into the tape recorder, C'MON! Maybe he needs someone like Clint Eastwood in the Dirty Harry movies, who would shoot first, ask questions later.

I was happy to see Daisy back, although yes, that part makes no sense.

The promos showed El Senor de Los Cielos starts April 21st, so maybe our show ends the day before that.

No show tonight, La Biblia has a special extended version.

excellent recap novelera!
this was one of those shows where people were having subtle conversations while weird things are happening, thanks so much for taking us through it.

poor Adan, out for a quiet drink to sort things out, when Conrado pays off the owner to close the bar so he can rant to his only friend, and we hear the story about Erika being a virgin when they met... but they are not alone, and out gunned, whew, only the security guys, as Adan's heart starts to beat again.

so I guess Adan, being a man of principles, is waiting for Conrado to step aside before he goes for Erika.

wow, when Lu spills about not sure if she wants to have this baby, I'm with Chad in why tell me here/now, but why is he still hanging with Dayto, of course she is the queen, he deserves what he gets, I'm just glad they are not drugging Lu.

the whole Pinochet government was so cruel, and everyone just looked the other way.

I guess Alejo is the other side of Anas' rosy coin

I'm really impressed with Andrea López (Analia), her character is pretty simple but she adds so much depth.

Duenos

Thanks everyone for the detailed recaps. I haven't been able to watch as carefully this week, so appreciate knowing what's going on. As much as that's possible, anyway. Lu might be right in not having this baby. She's a teenager with an idiot boyfriend and a drug-dealing father. Not the best environment for an infant.

Speaking of which, maybe Gina is looking for a place to live with Rodrigo? Somewhere far away from these people, assuming she'll be allowed to leave some day.

Kelly

Thanks, guys.

A bit of philosophizing. I could do without the part of the novela taking place in Chile. I don't think it adds much to our story. Plus anytime Kate del Castillo and Tony Dalton are absent, I miss them!

But this is a joint production with TVN, Chile's state owned national broadcasting company, so that's why we're getting parts of episodes in Santiago. I also think the current Government in Chile wants to talk about what happened with Pinochet as a sort of truth and reconciliation.

Wikipedia has an entry about the actual Truth and Reconciliation Commission that took place in 1990-91. The findings were:

“The Rettig Commission was mandated to document human rights abuses resulting in death or disappearance during the years of military rule, from September 11, 1973 to March 11, 1990.

Significantly, torture and other abuses that did not result in death were outside the scope of the commission’s mandate.

The commission’s final report documented 3,428 cases of disappearance, killing, torture and kidnapping, including short accounts of nearly all victims whose stories it heard.

Most of the forced disappearances committed by the government took place between 1974 and August 1977 as a planned and coordinated strategy of the government.”

Who knew novelas could become history lessons? One more reason to watch!

TIERRA

I thought Andrea's image of her mother had cracked significantly when she saw the way she treated Irina, hitting her and making her apologize on her knees and all that. But she seems to have put that out of her mind. And somehow she has remained clueless about how horrid Leo is to everyone. I wonder if she would be turned against him if Sofia told her about how he has raped and threatened and manhandled her, or if Andrea is one of those awful people who would tell Sofia it was her own fault or she was imagining it or it wasn't that bad.

But I agree she is going to go ballistic (possibly literally) when she finds out about their canoodling and all the rest of what they've done. I hope it happens soon. It's high time her rigid worldview fell apart.

Dueños

Thanks, Novelera. Terrific recap. Oh, Anastasia, you dummy!!! You said it, just when Renato finally opens up she shoots him down.

I’d respect Ferrara more if he played mind games with Anas. All that excessive force stuff with a small woman is just stupid.

Just when I thought Conrado couldn’t get any more WAA, he blubbers on about Érika being a virgin when he met her. So what? Everybody was a virgin once. Even if that’s true, what does it have to do with the problems you’re having now? That said, Adán is quite the snake to advise his buddy to go for Anas instead of Érika.

The casual torture of Mina was more than disturbing. That whole Chile clan must go down. Novelera and Deb, thanks for the background on Chile in the 1970s. If I didn’t know this history, the scene of Mina’s torture would’ve seemed like cheap woman-torture exploitation.

bless you Julia

DUEÑOS

I'm caught up with this one now (in no small part thanks to the excellent recaps and comments), and boy, is the landscape changing. All that false bravado (They have nothing on us... They can't touch us... We've got them where we want them) can lead to nothing good.

-Esparza recalls Conrado's assurance that Anastasia will take care of him as long as he keeps his mouth shut. But Esparza has finally realized that Anas has abandoned him to his luck. Whether his tormentors are sent by the Colombians, the Cubans, or Ferrara himself, Esparza is primed to spill.

-Linda B has morphed from every man's fantasy (something like Erica Jong wrote about in the 70s in Fear of Flying, a zipless 'encounter,' although she was addressing women) to more of a Fatal Attraction kind of girl. Yikes.

-Adán may find Erika attractive, but does he really want to hook up with porno star Sugar Lips?

-For obvious reasons, I didn't watch the torture scene too closely, but I wonder if the victim's name was Mina or if they were just using the Chilean slang term for 'girl,' like 'chica.'

Maybe in the end, the DEA will take down the Miami druglords and the city will once again be a safe and beautiful haven for residents, vacationers and retirees. Oh wait...

Dueños

What a treat to find you're joining us, NovelaMaven!

I never would have gotten "mina" as Chilean slang is outside my frame of reference.

And an Erica Jong reference! Everyone I knew was reading that book when it came out.

If you're really on board for the rest of the Dueños ride maybe you could sub for me April 13, 16, and 20. I'm on vacation from the 12th thru the 20th. Going to Colorado in an RV with another friend who's going all the way to North Carolina for her nephew's wedding and spending lots of time with East Coast friends and relatives. I'll fly back the night of the 20th. We're visiting another friend of more than 30 years in La Veta, Colorado. After retiring she moved back to her childhood home last year.

DUEÑOS

Thanks for the warm welcome, Novelera. Your vacation trip sounds like a lot of fun. I don't want to muscle my way in here at the last minute, but I can be on standby for April 13, 16 and 20. If one of the 'regulars' hasn't spoken for the day in question, I'll do my best to write something. The 20th may turn out to be the final episode, so I do hope someone else claims it. It seems only fair.

I'm glad you got the Erica Jong reference. Her mid 1970s sexual politics seem to fit this show quite well.

For reasons I can't begin to explain, the "mina" thing stuck in my mind from a podcast on Chilean slang I heard a few years ago. (Juanita may remember it.)

TIERRA

Thursday's episode:

After filming the commercial, Flavio once again spirited Irina away to the woods, on the production team's horse and still in their terrible costumes. Actually Flavio doesn't look all that bad, but Irina is in flimsy pantaloons over pink fishnet stockings and a little bodice thing. Plus her hair is in a giant swirlie. Anyway, they go off to the same spot they went to the last time they ran away on a horse, Irina less willing this time. They fight a lot but after enough forced kisses Irina willingly joins Flavio for a roll in the leaves.

They must have gotten a good workout, because afterward Flavs is asleep on the ground. Irina steals his clothes and takes off on the horse, yelling that she hates him.

Fortunately, their tryst spot must not be too far from Beatriz's ranch, because Flavio makes it home starkers without getting arrested. Arturo has a cow thinking he's a nude model now. Yeah, Arturo. He modeled nude and then decided to never wear clothes again! If you're the brains of this outfit...well, no wonder you're all in the state you're in.

Arturo spends the episode moping about as per usual. After Soledad calls her and insists that Arturo is not with Isadora and is going crazy wanting to go see her, Sofia condescends to call him. He smiles a tiny bit.

At the airport, Beatriz is friqueando because Patricia called Sam. Sam has to reassure her at great length that he wouldn't have married her if he still wanted Pati. Bea has a bit of a spell but doesn't want Sam to see her acting sick so she chucks her pills in the trash can. Which is good, because Boris and Natasha switched them for poison.

Meanwhile, Boris and Natasha are back at the ranch drinking the expensive champagne and telling themselves Bea will be dead, Sam will be blamed, and they'll be rich within a week.

Leo is snoozling on Cayetana and trying to get her to make their relationship public. Grandpa wheels in and catches them a little too close and then all but whistling and making Bambi eyes to seem way too innocent.

Valverde torments Brigitte some more. Now he's trying to force her to spy through Nestor's investigation stuff.

Pablo told the police the rest of what he saw between Leo and Ignacio. Then he went and told Sofia everything he had told them and I was freaking out the whole time because he didn't shut the door first and Leo is still lurking around everywhere.

At the end, the police showed up at the house; looks like they will arrest Leo.

TIERRA

Friday's episode:

After the rest of the family said they had never heard of the detective the police investigator asked about (the detective hired by Ignacio to look into Leo's evil deeds, who was murdered the day after Ignacio), the investigator talked to Sofia about it privately. She gave him the detective's card, which she had found in Leo's room. So investigator knows Leo was lying about never having heard of him.

Leo didn't get arrested, but he did get taken down to the station for questioning. Cayetana threw a fit about it and she and Andrea went to the police station and Caye continued to be a harpy shrew and Andrea of all people was trying to get her to calm down and act civilized. When she finally found Fernandez, she gave him an earful too and he suggested that she wouldn't need to be so worried about Leo's fate if she were really convinced he had nothing to do with Ignacio's death.

Leo smirked at the police a lot and insisted they had no evidence against him.

It was a dark and stormy night. Pablo brooded and Rocio ingratiated herself a bit by being all comforting but stopping a little short of throwing herself at him again.

Over at the other ranch, Isadora showed up for a visit with Arturo, drenched from the rain. Because it's such a long walk from the car to the door. I presume she stood out there on purpose long enough to turn her white shirt transparent. She did NOT refrain from throwing herself at him. She threw herself so hard she should be drafted by the Astros. Arturo weakly protested her dubious seduction, but when she face-attacked him, he let her explore his tonsils for a loooooong time before insisting that he wasn't into her and could only love Sofia. But then he suffered another lengthy bout of galanbesoparalysis when she lunged at him again. And then he let her spend the night at the ranch because obviously the Houston suburbs are basically the most treacherous jungle and one cannot possibly drive home on paved roads in a luxury automobile IN THE DARK AND RAIN. Arturo, honestly, you are such an idiot.

Sofia has a nightmare that she walks in on Arturo getting it on with Isadora, with Isadora wearing nothing but saucy scanties and Arturo's yucky hat.

Brigitte and Nestor meet up at Palenque, but their nice evening is ruined when Valverde shows up. Fortunately he doesn't stay long or drag Brigitte away. Brig tries to delicately query Nestor about rescuing hostages and how likely it is to get them out alive. She leaves abruptly after getting a message, and goes to Nestor's office to copy some of his files on the investigation. He catches her there, but she claims she was only leaving him a schmoopy message to find later.

Flavio sneaks into the del Junco house and surprises Irina in her bedroom. He says she owes him for leaving him in the woods naked. He stalks around her, all grabby while she protests.

NOTE TO TELENOVELA WRITERS, DIRECTORS, PRODUCERS, ETC.: TAKE REMEDIAL LESSONS ON CONSENT. THIS IS NOT HOT. IT IS RAPEY AND CREEPY.

Anyway, they fight a lot, enough that Grandpa comes to check on Irina. She hides Flav in the bathroom and tells Grandpa she just had a nightmare but she's fine now. Grandpa insists on tucking her into bed and telling her a story. She struggles to control her giggles during the story because Flavio pops out of the bathroom to do striptease moves behind Grandpa's back. That part was actually funny. More of that, less of the grabby forced kisses, please.

Anyway, after Grandpa falls asleep and they wheel him back to his room (the way they were yelling and jerking the wheelchair around, I think he must have been faking sleep), Flavio proposes to Irina. I didn't hear her say yes, but they got busy. In the morning, Nieves finds them nekkid in bed and drops the breakfast tray. Then she keeps ogling Flavio while he gets dressed and Irina kisses him.
