¡Hola a todos! Here's our recap lineup for this week (so far)
Tonight, Monday -- LXV
Tuesday -- Aficionada
W ?
Th ?
Friday -- Spanish student
As usual, I can help, if you need me. El Señor, ¿qué dices?
BTW if anyone is interested:
Telemundo started rerunning the ORIGINAL "El Clon" from Brazil from 12pm - 2pm EST. It started today.
"AS LONG AS THE WRITERS LEAVE PABLO ALONE!" :D
Aficionada
the opening song, "Mi reina" by Ender Thomás
NM- Thanks for the new page.
Why are they advertising Avenida Brasil? Did we not watch this amazing Brazilian Novela in 2014 in the afternoon? I watched the episodes on the weekend.
"El Gadinero" - is currently shooting In LA starring Gabriel Porras and Maria Elisa Camargo. Coming soon possible after Tierras, was hoping after Los Mis.
Star
I'll get tonight's recap up before noon tomorrow. And thanks for the heads up about the new lineup: so El Jardinero might be in Tierra's spot. That would suit me fine, but it wouldn't be starting just yet, I gather.
CASA CARDONA
Modesta, looking like the cat that swallowed the canary, has revealed that Irene did not leave México to be with her daughter but rather to escape having killed a politician. Renato is there to hear this. Anas says she’ll save this information for when she needs it, and that they should both keep quiet
MOTEL HELLO
We see a truly ghastly scene with Irene and Frank. The guy brutalizes her, has sex with her, and makes her say: “Sí Señor” over and over.
MIAMI POLICE
Riquelme tells Saúl that Silvana is a typical spoiled rich girl. Saúl looks at her picture and thinks she’s tasty. And, if he had Riquelme’s abs, he’d go after her! Riquelme says he’s engaged. Ferrara interrupts them saying that he’s located Gina’s sister. The next scene is Gloria, Gina’s sister, being interrogated. She says Gina was quite happy with Cardona at first. Gloria never wanted to meet him. Riquelme asks when she saw her sister last. Gloria says it was just a phone call, a week before the birth. Gina asked for $5,000 and it was never repaid. Gina told her sister that she was very afraid of Anas. Ferrara tells her that she should ask for custody of the baby; living with Anastasia is not a fit life for a baby.
CASA ESPARZA
Analía calls her mother in Santiago, Chile. She tells her she’s going to divorce Alejo, and her mother is thrilled! She asks her mother to locate one Gerardo Casanegra.
GIGI CLUB
I believe we are in Santiago, although they haven’t made it obvious. A guy named Jorge Laguna is the owner of the club, and he offers another guy (in his office) some lines of Alas de Mariposa. He says he got this from outside the country. The other guy, Gerardo, says he doesn’t want Inesita to see this. Jorge tells Gerardo that he shouldn’t let Ines run his life just because she’s on the cover of magazines and has become bossier than ever. Jorge tells Gerardo that Alas de Mariposa is the wave of the future. When the two guys come out of the office, Ines sneaks in and snorts some of the coke. Later we see her bleed from her nostrils.
CASA ROMERO
Verónica says she isn’t going to the party Anas is hosting that night. Delia makes another crack about Érica being a loose woman. Érica has come to beg Vero to come to the party. She says it’s to celebrate Sergio’s business and that she’s been asked to do three more movies. Vero tells her that she’s nuts. Érica makes an interesting point about Anas to Vero. She says that she thinks that behind her mask is a person who wants to be loved.
CASA CARDONA
Silvana tells Elias she saw him get into Sal’s car. He grabs her and tells her to shut it. Then they both go into the party. The only guests appear to be the cast members. Érica, Vero, and Adán arrive. Conrado is already there. Vero says to Adán that she doesn’t feel comfortable here, but Anas has overheard. Anas asks her why she doesn’t feel comfortable. And then she goes on to say that this environment isn’t her thing and she imagines that’s why she turned her husband in to the police! Vero sputters some, and says that it was a mistake that won’t happen again. Anas tells her, with a smile, that she shouldn’t get so upset. After all, all her husband does is sell drugs. Others kill for money, sell sex (looking at Sergio and Carmen) are bricklayers. “The thing is: you and your family live on the money your husband makes.”
CASA ROMERO
Delia is snoring on the sofa between Chad and Luciana. She goes off to bed and Chad and Lu don’t waste any time jumping into bed.
CASA CARDONA
Érica talks with Conrado in private about Anas' plans with Sergio. She says it’s a good deal to cover the tax problem. Conrado barks at her that she knows nothing about tax stuff. All she has to do is play the innocent girl in the pornos. She asks him not to say hurtful things. He says that what she did can’t be forgiven, and he’d never be able to share his bed with a woman like her. [What an ass!]
CASA ROMERO
Chad gets out of bed, sees Delia and ducks back. What I think happens is that he sneaks into Érica’s house and steals two bags of marijuana. They didn’t show it too clearly but I don’t think the weed was in Adán’s house.
CASA CARDONA
Anas makes a toast for the success of all of them and pointedly asks Érica if she’s in. Érica says she accepts, and Conrado turns away from the circle, furious. [WAA – I’ll just abbreviate it from now on.] If he’d given Érica the tiniest bit of understanding, she’d never have agreed to make the movies. Later Anas chills out WAA when he gripes about Sergio. She kisses him, and Vero sees this through the requisite telenovela partially opened door.
CLUB IN MIAMI
Saúl is pretty drunk in some club. Iggy beats him up and makes comments about his using coke. He tells him he sold his soul to La Cardona, and he’s going to pay for this. He says he has another job to do tonight or he’d finish him off right now. He tells him he’s going to be watching his every step.
CASA ROMERO
Lu wakes up. No Chad. She goes to the window at the front of the house to look out, and we see Iggy hiding in the hallway! Later we see him touch Lu’s leg as she sleeps. But he hears a car and nothing more happens.
Vero and Adán return home. Iggy is still there, in a closet. Vero stomps off to her bedroom. We see Adán looking out the window and Iggy comes into the room, puts a silencer on his gun and points it at Adán. But a moment later, Adán turns around and there’s no one there.
CASA CARDONA AND MOTEL HELLO
Irene has come to Anas house to beg Renato for help. We next see the two of them at the motel. Irene is explaining what happened. She says she knew this guy years ago, and that he was blackmailing her. She doesn’t know how it happened. We see Frank on the bed with a lot of blood on him. Renato: “Killing is easy; in a second it’s over. But living with killing is not so easy.” We then see a flashback to how Irene killed him. She’s trying to leave, but he says $2,000 isn’t enough. He wants $5,000 and more sex. He starts to beat her when she refuses, and she grabs some object and beats him to death. Renato says they are waiting for “them”. I assume this is a “cleanup” crew.
CASA ROMERO
In the morning Delia gripes some more about the ad in the paper for Sugar Lips. She calls Érica a Jezebel, causing Adán to leave the room in disgust. This is the MOST annoying woman.
Vero finds a rose and a note in her bedroom. Adán comes in, grabs the note and asks her who is David Costa. Vero tries the old “go on the offensive” trick, telling him that if he listened to her he’d remember that David is the widowed newspaperman. Adán is justifiably upset that his wife is getting a rose and a note from this guy. No one seems to ask how it got in the house.
MIAMI PORT
Gina, as we expected, has come back to Miami. Marcelo, the merchant marine, has brought her. [This actor always plays a horrible thug and must have been overjoyed to play a kindly person and get an opportunity to smile.] He tells her she should contact him if she ever needs anything. She’s got some sort of scarf around her head. Supposed to be a disguise? Odd. Anyway she checks into a pretty nice hotel. I guess Renato gave her a decent amount of cash. She calls her sister, telling her not to tell anyone she’s back. Gloria doesn’t seem to happy to hear from her.
ALSO IN MIAMI PORT, I THINK
Ferrara, Riquelme and the female cop whose name I forgot are raiding a truck. Sal shoots one of the guys. Sal smells the packets of drugs they find and says it’s Alas de Mariposa. They have seized the drugs of Anastasia Cardona!
So Los Miserables is in Últimos Capítulos, and they aren't announcing what will replace it? Usually they do about a zillion promos for the one that's next.
excellent recap novelera!
you really do capture a lot of detail.
I was also thinking Chad was over at Erica's (the Romero's don't do drugs) I wonder if Lu told him about that, and I bet he's getting the marijuana for Daytona.
Chile at last, and I think this is being filmed there, TVN, kind of a different style. (this series is also being shown there) kind of rude of Ines to get high and nose bleed on her friends white gown.
Analia's mom was pretty casual about the phone call, but happy to hear about the divorce.
when Erika all serious, spills about the 3 new films, and Vero just looks at her and goes, "you're nuts", cracked me up.
I think Conrado is totally overwhelmed with Erika's porno career, but it sure looks like to me that Anas is working this whole thing to her benefit.
enough with the creepy stuff, Iggy's got to go, maybe he can run off with Paola, and if Sergio gets into B horror films he can do a documentary on their great love.
speaking of love, at least Irene and Frank won't be dating anymore, that might have been a clock radio she bashed him with, remember those?
I guess Leisure suit Saul wasn't invited to the port bust, and I guess he didn't let Anas know, but at least he's met Iggy, and had a bit of a nose bleed himself.
I'm wondering if "Alas de Mariposa" is a brand name, like Batman in LRdS used to mark his product with bat wings, or just a generic term.
According to Wiki (not always reliable) El Gadinero will replace Los Mis. This will probably happen after the mini series "La Biblia". El Gadinero has been shooting for a couple of episodes.

HOTEL FARAON
Elena in her nearly spotless, but torn & ruined white wedding gown makes her escape down the back stairwell of the hotel. She is seen and recognized as the owner's wife by a concierge and a maid. They offer assistance; she asks for a taxi.
Rad gets mad. He's freakin'—"Gotta get outta here!" He goes to his office and yanks a large abstract painting off the wall to reveal the safe; grabs handsful of cash.
Pab & Dan arrive in the lobby looking for Radames Echeverria; the helpful concierge asks them if they seek the wife instead. He tells them how bad she was when he helped her into a cab
Guns are drawn & these two make their way up to the Pharaoh's suite, hollering like madmen; they see the open safe and decide to use their heads. They are over their heads & out of their jurisdiction, so they call in to report the abduction.
Dan (who, we all remember, is fugitive from the law) calls Alejandro over at AFIAD. Alej is all," I suppose you're calling to turn yourself in" Dan has no time to mince words: "Get Rad! if you don't, Pab's gonna kill him"
CASA ECHEVERRIA
Ivana tells Rad that Pab came looking for him with a gun. He's leaving and going far, far away. Ivana: "Then, what am I going to do?" "Let me give you a piece of advice: get a job!" He calls her a stupid frivolous parasite, just like his drunken, thieving daughter. Passport in hand, he's trying to jam it in a big hurry.
DEYA'S HOUSE
Deya & Luch pray for Elena's safety & escape. Doorbell: it's the taxi driver. "I'm here with your sister Elena; she didn't want to go to the hospital..." "HOSPITAL???", in unison.
Once inside the house, the battered Elena is the picture of a trauma victim; it's as if all her nerves are exposed.
Pab arrives. He's anguished and begs forgiveness; vows to kill Radames. Elena is psycho scared, but determined, no one but SHE going to kill Radames, with her own hands. She wants vengeance "for every golpe and every time he raped me (literally, every time he entered my body & tore up my insides—this is a strong scene)... Deya, (who I figure has seen a lot in her time), looks terrified. Elena tells Pab to "Get Rad—he's going to run." They want to take her to the hospital. She wants to go straight to the media. She tells Dan she wants a complete Rape Kit including DNA testing.
Pablo has managed to get the head of the news department at a TV channel to come to the house. Elena, still in her tattered, bruised & bloodied array insists on making her statement to the public, just as she appears; the tidy little TV gal is a bit taken aback & hesitates. But Elena threatens to kill Rad if they don't let her. Furthermore, Lucha jumps in to advocate for Elena's decision to show the world the reality of abused women. Lucha should know, she's a nurse and sees it every day. (and Deya should know too, from her former profession). The little news girl looks quite daunted by these powerful women revealing their terrible knowledge.
PENTHOUSE
Oleg comes home. "Lucia?" Not there. Rosa doesn't know. He gets mad & calls her. "It's late, Where TF are you? She tells him Rad raped Elena so she's going to stay with her. Oleg gripes how stupid Rad is. Oleg gets annoyed with Rosa because things are starting to get out of control. All she did was ask a simple concerned question and he chews her out and orders her around.
THE HIDEOUT
Lili is drunk and getting drunker. They're screwed; might as well enjoy it "I mean, how many times do you get to die?". Genaro wishes she would shut up about it. Nuria is not convinced either. Lil has to break it to her "Diablo's run out of luck."
A BAR, SOME POLICE WATERING HOLE
Mari & Rodriguez congratulate his new daddy-hood with beers. Vidal & Lopez saunter in and take the table next to them. Our good guys make self-righteous, disparaging remarks about those two no-good cops.
HOTEL FARAON
Rad (why hasn't he fled already?) happens to catch the news on a TV set in the lobby. Elena appears on the screen all beat up & dishelveled. He drinks...she talks, "I could have remained silent, ashamed and terrorized for the rest of my life like thousands of women like me... Love means respect, understanding & affection, not a battle for power. I almost died today...I am here to denounce the man who did this. He should be in jail...so no more women will be hurt the way I was ..."
Rad goes ballistic down there in the lobby, in public, "You're going to pay!!!...etc." The camera centers on Elena's brutalized visage. Pretty effective makeup job! (Diablo is also watching over there in the penthouse; "Que imbecil eres, Radames" He's disgusted.)
Elena collapses on camera and has to be taken to the hospital. Pab is there to catch her faint and carries her offstage while the news anchor elaborates on the guilt of the well-known businessman Radames Echeverria. Rad, in the lobby, in his cups by now, yells at the TV set that she made it all up. Alej steps on to the scene to arrest him for a string of charges: rape, kidnapping, abuse, you name it.
CASA DURAN
I guess everybody in the D.F.has seen this broadcast. Iggy, horrified & disgusted confronts Fern. She confesses weakly in her confused fashion. She babbles that she didn't tell Elena about Pablo's not being able to get to the wedding. "How long are you going to continue to harm your own children? How long before you understand?" He abandons her to her own remorse.
The TV shows Rad being arrested. They haul him off & throw the book at him. Diablo is still muttering "Imbécil" from afar.
BACK AT THE WATERING HOLE
Rodriguez & León applaud the announcement of Rad's arrest and that justice por fin has fallen where it should ; Vidal & Lopez are within easy earshot as Ev expands on this theme hoping for all criminals to fall, including corrupt cops! They drink to that while the corrupt cops snarl through bared teeth.
THE HIDEOUT
Lil, getting giddier because it appears she's seen the TV too, laughs exultantly & deprecates Radames as a sadistic abuser of women (and she would know too). Genaro points out that if Rad falls, then their whole house of cards comes down. The feisty, but deluded Nuria insists she's exempt. Lily just laughs. Gen reminds them that Rad threatened to betray them all if he had to take the fall. Gen figures Rad's going to get a minimum of 20 years, that is if Diablo doesn't finish him off first. Lil chews her lower jaw pensively.
HOSPITAL
A different doctor, Jaime Nariño, a forensic expert, greets Pab & Dan. Dan wears shades, so nobody will know who he is [yeah, right]. Jaime says he's impressed with Elena's courage (he also saw the TV show), but warns Dan that Alejandro is on his way over to arrest him. He goes off to do the examination. Dan wants to hang out, but Pablo tells him to go. They'll catch up later.
The battered Elena is seen by this Dr. Narito for her exam. He gently asks her "Are you ready for this?" (No one is ever ready for that.)
HOSPITAL, cont'd
Gonzalo & Lucha show up; he tells her the findings: she has a broken rib, lots of cuts & bruises, but no evidence of internal hemorrage.. Nurse Nancy tries as gently as possible to treat the superficial wounds. Gonzo & Lucha want to order more X-rays, and a plastic surgery consult to help fix up the damage to her face. All she wants to do is sleep. Lucha stays; they hold hands & cry together. [pardon me, but this scene had your recapper crying too.]
POLICE HQ, IN THE BOX
Ev & Mari watch through the 2-way mirror as Alejandro interrogates Radames. They want a saliva specimen for the DNA test. Rad refuses, but they already have a judge's order.
THE CHEAP HOTEL
Dan plots with Ev & Mari to get hold of Radames' personal computer because it must hold info on all kinds of dirty transactions that they can use to take him down (He's already down, but our guys want to be thorough).
HOSPITAL
The next day, Iggy visits his injured daughter. "What can I do?" He regrets he wasn't there to help her; it's hard seeing her like this. Elena hold nothing against him; she wants to move on—get that rat bast*rd in jail. Pablo arrives. Elena doesn't want to talk; Iggy leaves. Pablo does his best to explain, to beg forgiveness & understanding, but to no avail. She pulls away and gives a fine performance of post-traumatic stress. "no men, no marriage, no excuses; Get Out!!" She gets so hysterical Carlos has to jump in & pull Pablo out of there.
Pab confronts Fern in the hall about why she never delivered his message. She puts up a good show of sullen indignation. Carl hauls Pablo out of this and tries to "therapize" Pablo about how to deal with trauma. [what the heck does he know?] Patience & understanding. Pab's in despair.
Liliana suddenly appears grinning smugly. "Aren't you happy to see me? I just came to check up on my sister." Fernanda lights into her, blaming her for what happened. "You were the blabbermouth who told Rad that Pab was marrying Elena?" "I thought you didn't like the idea of Riobueno for a son-in-law?" (Fern's got to admit Lil's got a point there). Fern goes on the attack, why do you cause so much pain & trouble. Lucha's been hanging around the doorframe, eavesdropping on this exchange. She can't resist breaking in to say, "Because you could never stand the idea of anyone having more happiness than you."
THE HIDEOUT
Oleg yells at Genaro; he wants Rad in jail (well, it seems there's quite a consensus on all sides). Oleg, ever the gentleman, can't believe Rad would have done such a thing to such a woman; Genaro thinks she's done them a disservice by raising the consciousness of all the women in the country. Oleg doesn't want him dead, but he wants him to suffer in the jail cell for the rest of his life. He tells Genaro to get the senator on it. OK, boss!
[ed note: did this next happen in this episode?, or did I make it up, or remember it from the previous, in any event...] Genaro helpfully suggests that now that the entire drug shipment has been delivered to the Veracruz police, why don't they just go in and pick it up.
POLICE HQ, BACK IN THE BOX
Rad, accompanied by that long-suffering, but obviously well-paid lawyer of his, is fuming "She deserved it! She's my wife, I have rights and she'll get what's coming to her" "Um, hate to break it to you, buddy, this time you've put yourself in a callejon (dead-end street) with no way out. The only thing I can come up with for defense is temporary insanity. The whole country saw it on TV." "She's screwed me; I'm NOT nuts and I'm gonna make her pay" Rad rubs his fingers in that creepy way. "Be careful what you say in here; remember where you are, She's not your wife any longer, she had a restraining order and you are facing a whole slew of serious charges." Alej rushes in with the results of the quickest DNA test ever performed; he accuses Rad, "You raped her."
50 years, did he say, with all these charges? Exit Alej.
Rad, desperate, deluded fool that he is, thinks Diablo will get him out of this.
PENTHOUSE
Diablo arrives home; "Where's Lucia?" Rosa has to explain that she's not home and furthermore that she didn't sleep there either. He's getting mighty fed up with these ideas of independence of hers. She's going to hear from him.
HOSPITAL CORRIDOR OF FAMILY SECRETS
Lucha, Lil & Fern are hashing out old family issues, gripes & resentments about who was loved the most, when into their midst marches the bruised & battered Elena. She attacks Fernanda for a history of ruin, especially her harmful obsession with class pretensions & status. "That rich man you forced me to marry did "this," pointing to her purpled face, "and for years. And Liliana slept with him!" Lily glowers. "I'm not going to shut up.. I'm going to tell the world what she is." referring to Liliana. What's the story Ma?, why did you not tell me Pablo wasn't coming to the registry office?" Fern tries to excuse herself "I had no idea, forgive me?" Elena's not having it: "Save your tears for her when she's in jail, because I'll make sure she goes there." Elena shouts, referring to Liliana. "Lucha, take me back to my room." Lil shakes her blonde curls and flounces out.
DEYA'S HOUSE
Lucy & Deya are taking a quiet moment to count what blessings they actually do have. Like, Deya's growing baby belly, that Octavio's OK and that Radames didn't actually KILL Elena. Deya wants to know how Lucy plans to handle the Diablo/Rafael situation. Luce wants to keep playing the game until she finds out his weak spot; something she can use to take him down. Lucy's phone rings; it's Memín & Roxi at summercamp. The two kids are calling home to say what a great time they're having, learning to swim, rock-climbing; they're over the moon, but "could you please pack up & send Memin's football and Roxana's dolly?"
HOSPITAL, ELENA'S ROOM
Elena is catching some much needed sleep after her ordeal when Diablo enters her hospital room. She awakens. He asks after her health and offers sympathy in a dignified, but dark manner. "She appreciates his concern, but she won't rest until Radames and ALL HIS ACCOMPLICES are in the "big house". Diablo swallows hard and takes his leave. Elena whispers to herself "Y a ti tambien."
THE KIDS' BEDROOM
Lucha & Deya gather up the requested toys for Memin & Roxanita. The memoria falls out of the muñeca. Lucha picks it up; "¿Y esto?" Haven't we heard this line before? like, every time that maldita memoria has fallen to the ground and been picked up. For a moment there, I was afraid it would be overlooked, but it appears we are barreling full speed toward the resolution we've been anticipating. (no storm drain) I'll say no more. I'm not breathing a word of the avances.
Great recap, novelera! Many thanks. I loved your WAA (and I agree!) and "Vero sees this through the requisite telenovela partially opened door."
I am especially grateful for your account of the scene in Chile with Gerardo et al. I was quite confused--so much so that I kept trying to find "inesita" in my Spanish dictionary.
So how did Iggy get into Vero & Adán's house? Surely a drug dealer would be sure to have strong locks on the doors and windows? And how considerate of Iggy to bring along a red rose and some note paper. I too was surprised when Vero didn't seem freaked out by the rose and note's being in the house.
Even in a narconovela, Iggy stands out as super creepy. I like deb's suggestion that "maybe he can run off with Paola, and if Sergio gets into B horror films he can do a documentary on their great love."
And deb, I not only remember clock radios, I still use one!
Thanks, Novelera, another great recap, that filled in a bunch of things I wasn't sure about. What an intense opisode! That scene with Iggy touching Lu's leg was pretty creepy. That guy has nerves of steel (or maybe no emotions at all?).
The lady copy is Rita Corona.
I think Alas de Mariposa (butterfly wings) is a "brand name", sort of like Panama Red, that Anas and her guys named themselves.
Chad isn't so nice and good, is he? I agree, it was Erica and Conrado's house, the decor is more modern and cheesy than Adan and Vero's (but not by much). I wonder who Conrado's going to blame when he finds the pot missing.
Marcelo asked Gina to name her baby Marcelo.
Deb, good point about Iggy just having brought along a rose and writing paper!
wow lxv, your recaps get better and better!
such a powerful story, so well told.
"the battered Elena is the picture of a trauma victim; it's as if all her nerves are exposed"
whoa, Alexandra De La Mora (Elena) did a wonderful job last night,
(but I'd like to add that the most emotionally explosive novela's I've ever seen involve Aracely Arámbula (Lucia), who didn't do much last night, she doesn't have to, just her presence, hovering around Elena seemed to shine a spotlight on her),
and where does Nuria get all of those magazines she is always reading?
hmm, I was thinking Radamés was at the airport when he saw Elena's news cast, not that you could tell but didn't a plane landing start the scene or something.
I was figuring Elena got kidnapped before Pablo had a chance to arrive for the wedding, and with all that happened I wasn't really getting the part it was his fault.
and I wasn't really blaming Fernanda for not relaying the message,
when there is so much more to blame her for.
ah yes, Lili waltzing into the hospital, she really can't ignore the connection she has with her family, probably from all the love they have shown her despite the way she is.
I was thinking Pablo would go all psycho, this guy is amazingly cool headed.
whew, I need to catch my breath before the next show.
Great recap, LXV. And what an episode! I was never a fan of the tight-lipped, repressed Elena (or Abel). Loved the scene where she confronted Fernanda and Liliana. However I was nervous when she told Diablo she's going after all of Rad's accomplices. Didn’t want her to give it away they they know who he really is. And exactly what problem does he have with Lucha comforting her sister all night long.
Lili has softened up a lil these days. Not only is she drowning in guilt, but she hasn’t plotted against Lucha or looked for the flash drive. Instead she helped Dan and Marina escape Diablo’s wrath. I'm guessing she’ll betray Diablo.
Rad, on the other hand, still doesn’t comprehend the seriousness of his crimes. And he’s threatening Diablo as if he could actually win.
Vidal & Lopez looked like 2 people who know they're about fall really hard.
Deb, this probably doesn't matter now, but I guess we're supposed to think that there was a slight possibility Elena would have stopped en route to the courthouse or somehow avoided the inevitable if she knew Pablo wouldn't make it. Of course we also know that Rad was stalking her so there's no way to really know.
spanish student
I still use a clock radio too! It's too small to be an effective weapon though. Maybe I should trade it in. It was a bit choppy last night, wasn't it? I don't mind them moving around, but I wish they'd let us know where we are. Adan might want to look in to some guard dogs or something. He might not realize that Vero found the rose INSIDE the house (how creepy was Izzy in those scenes?), but he should still be concerned.
At least I have someone to root for now: Gina. I'm hoping she gets baby Marcelo back.
Kelly
deb : "hmm, I was thinking Radamés was at the airport" YES, that makes much more sense. Of course he was on his way out of town.
And the scene where Lucia comforts Elena; when they touched hands, I completely lost it. so powerfully moving with such a small gesture.
Star, I'm pretty sure the new telenovela from Telemundo whenever it will air is called El Jardinero, not El Gadinero. It's meant to have the same basic plot as A Better life, the English language movie that gained an Oscar nomination for Demian Bechir.
Star
Novelera, thanks a bunch. Terrific recap and “WAA” certainly fits the spot.” I get that Erica is a sweet girl but not too bright, but Conrado is not stupid and should know and do better.
I never ever liked Chad and now I have a good reason. Does he not think that Conrado will blame Lu for the missing pot since she stole from him before?
I kept wondering why Gina’s disguise didn’t include big, dark shades. Hopes she get some and a dark wig soon.
So Vero hasn’t thought about how the rose got into her house? I think Iggy got off on the power he had sneaking around the house. He had no intention of shooting Adán or raping Lu, at least not tonight, but likes knowing that he could. That’s my take.
Hmmm, so what will Saúl do now that he knows LQ’s guy is on to him?
I’m actually rooting for several folks, the Romeros, Erica, Gina, and Irene.
I use a clock radio also. Those that don't, what do you use, your cell phone? I am amazed at how many people don't wear watches anymore, their cellphone is always in their hand.
Tks for the great recap.
I didn't like Gina at first, but now I do & Erica. Anas is not a very sympathetic character. Annnd I like Renato.
I do not wish Iggy on anyone, I like Paola.
Will someone PLEASE tell me what those canister looking things are in the intro??????? It's making me crazy!!!!!!
Carayers are so brilliant, I know someone knows, this is the place for knowledge.
OK, looks like some of us are voting for who we like. I adore Renato, killer though he might be. I love his pensive, worried expression. I think we've seen two at most smiles in this novela from him and they were stunning. Plus he let Gina go. Hope it doesn't come back to bite him in the hindquarters.
At first I thought Irene was bad and maybe going to blackmail her daughter, but I've changed my mind. She did terrible things in the past and is now truly sorry. Seeing her treated that way by that scummy Frank bothered me no end. And I think Modesta is a jealous, controlling person. She thinks of Anas as mi niña and doesn't want to give Irene any space in Anas' life at all.
I certainly like Riquelme, the honorable cop who would not do the questionable things Sal Ferrara does to nail a suspect.
I really like Érica. She deserves better than WAA, and I hope the writers write someone in for her. Maybe she could snag a Hollywood actor and REALLY drive WAA nuts. I wish she weren't so gullible, but I think that's who she is. She usually thinks the best of people.
And I can't help but like Anastasia. She's done some bad things, but has good qualities as well. She was going to do something for the families of the boy drug dealers and even went to their funeral. And I'm incapable of disliking Kate del Castillo.
I like Paola too, and I'm sorry they showed that scene where she lusted after Iggy. This makes me think she might give in at some point.
I liked Analía also until that scene with Vero where she revealed that she's only in the marriage for the money. I was actually surprised she cried in the closet. I am very curious about her plans with Gerardo Casanegra.
Outstanding recap of an intensely emotional capitulo, lxv, thank you so very much.
I cried too.
Barely read, more to comment, but getting ready to watch and will recap/outline-for-group-recap?? tonight's show.

Monday recap
grouped by people groups not chronologically
Nestor is positive the plane was sabotaged
Pati overhears that Matamoros and Candela's engagement is a farce directed at her and flips out. Matamoros tells Pati that he knows she will be in his life siempre and asks her to marry him. Pati laments that it took so long for him to realize he loves her. He laments that it took her leaving him for another man, and tells her he only lives for the day she tires of the other and returns to his arms (if he wasn't a scary killer, who used to literally pimp Pati out, he'd be really sweet right now)
Pati says its too late.
Vero tells Dario she'll deposit the money she bribed him to hire Flavio with - Caye shows up and blabbs to his tia that Dario hired Flavio. Dario understandably wishes for the earth to swallow him. Tia lambasts Dario (quite hypocritically, she knows he doesn't really love Irina and she doesn't care who he marries -as long as she's female - she just wants to quash the "disagreeable" rumors she has heard about him - she probably suspects he's gay, unlike apparently everyone else who knows him)
Dario stands his ground and defends his right to hire Flavio and basically tells tia that since she's not giving him any money she doesn't get a say about who he hires. Vero stands behind him the whole time keeping her mouth shut and smiling.
Leo goes to gloat to Art and as Art is passing the news on to Flavio and Flavio is telling Art about the girls breaking into the armoire of secrets and almost seeing the picture of Alma, Irina overhears and misunderstands the convo. (seriously though who calls not telling their true identities a 'plan'?) Irina thinks Flavio y Art are plotting how to get the girls' money and as they wonder how long they can keep this up she goes to sneak off and bumps something - Silly boys think if one of the girls heard them talking, they would ask them about it. As if anyone in a tn would ever be that upfront.
Irina & Sophia convo about it (doom doom doom)
Sam defends Andrea's honor from some drunk guy, and tries to take her home - she gets all sangrona - 'I'm a Del Junco they wouldn't dare to arrest me for DUI' but Sam won't let her drive drunk or stay to drink more, and throws her over his shoulder and takes her to some hotel (which we later find out she pays for) because she doesn't want to go home. Andrea spills a little bottle of liquor all over Sam and "helps" him to take off his shirt, and then starts "dancing" w/him and then says either that he will never forgive her or she will never forgive herself and OMG kisses him and OMG he kisses her back. Of course he thinks it was just curiousity on her part so she starts throwing shoes at him and calls him bruto -stupid (I agree) Sam tries to help Andrea to bed, but she needs help - asks Sam to unzip her cara de how do I get myself into these things from Sam. Andrea drunkenly insists Sam stay "I feel like I'm dying" and he lies down on top of the covers with her.
Andrea wakes up the next morning after the maid peeks in and shuts the door and *sweetly* wakes Sam by SCREAMING IN HIS EAR and then gets really insulting "I'll have to bathe in Clorox now" He pays her back by telling her they had drunken sex and she's really good in bed and walks out of the hotel room letting her think that.
Caye realizes the good daughter didn't come home last night and wiggs out - the staff calm her down w/the idea that Andrea spent the night w/her bf but Nieves knows
I mean she even thought he might have drugged her , which would be scary
I feel like I should feel bad
but I don't
Variopinta, those canister things in the intro are gun barrels, and bullets are coming out of them. It's as if they took a whole lot of those drug guy pistols, put them next to each other, pointed up, and fired them (except that in reality it's computer graphics).
Part 1
(OMG. Breathe. I am putting two parts now, must continue the rest later tonight. As ever, please add and correct as can! Thank you!)
THE KIDS' BEDROOM
Where lxv's excellent previous recap left off: "The memoria falls out of the muñeca. Lucha picks it up; '¿Y esto?' "
Lucia has found the flash drive! She flashes back on Cesar's murder, on Genaro demanding to know where the memoria is; on Vicky asking about the peluche and the day Cesar was murdered; on checking out the peluche at the hospital, finding nothing in it; looks down at the muñeca, and says, "Of course. The kids moved it to the doll!"
Deyanira asks what's going on, but Lucha says she shouldn't know, and rushes out.
HOSPITAL, Helena's Room
Abel is visiting her, says he was worried about her. "I'm your brother." She lets him hold her hand. Dr. Mallorca comes in, apologizes for interrupting them.
?? conversation?? Did anyone get that, please?
HOTEL FARAON
We see Daniel, Evaristo and Marisela sneak out of a closet, dressed as maintenance workers.
POLICE HQ
Alejandro and Pablo. Alejandro tells Pablo he is too close to the Radamés case to work on it. Pablo asks him what if it had been his wife? Alejandro answers, "I'd kill him."
HOTEL FARAON
The cops blacken a hallway security camera lens, then break into Radamés' office.
HOSPITAL, Sor Milagros' Office
Lucia comes in and asks Sor Mili if she can use her computer. Puts the flash drive into it.
HOTEL FARAON, Radamés' Office
Evaristo is on Radamés' computer. Dan: "I want anything connecting Radamés with the cartel …. " Evaristo: "None yet." (I missed why, but) Marisela replaces Evaristo at the computer.
HOSPITAL, Sor Mili's Office
Lucha is watching the ugly scene on the flash drive. "What is this? … It's too much! My God! Liliana es una asesina!" She looks at the flash drive, "What am I going to do with this?"
POLICE HQ, In The Box (q.v. lxv, thanks!)
Radamés insanely taunts Pablo about his evil crimes against Helena. Dialogue, anyone, please?
HOSPITAL, Helena's Room
Abel and Gonzalo argue a bit - anyone have their words, please?
Gonzalo turns to Helena, says something about visitors, her family, her son. She says she can't see her son yet.
Meanwhile, Abel notices the shaking of Gonzalo's hand, before the doctor puts it back into his pocket.
Doc tells helena she ought to have therapy. She says she will think about it.
POLICE HQ, In The Box
Radamés continues taunting Pablo about Helena, actually defending himself for what he did!
Pablo tells him he is going to get the punishment he deserves in prison. Radamés says money will keep him out of prison, but Pablo tells him it won't help keep him out. Says something like what he did to Helena is nothing next to what is going to happen to Radamés in prison.

Part 2
HOTEL FARAON, Radamés' Office
Marisela gets into the computer: "Ready!" She downloads all of Radamés' files. Evaristo is watching the office door, nervously.
HOSPITAL, Sor Mili's Office
Lucha says (I don't remember who she says it to - Sor Mili?) she knows about everyone now, including Liliana. "Don't ask," she tells … ?? "You can't imagine how important."
She calls Dan. Says she has something very important to show him. He wants to know ?? Fill in, anyone??
"Trust me," she says. "I do trust you," he says.
HOTEL FARAON, Radamés' Office
Did I get it right that before closing up, Marisela uploaded a virus into Radamés' computer, and it wiped out his entire system as they left?
HOSPITAL
(poor notes, sorry) Helena and Lucha?? H asks what is going on. L asks her to trust her. ??
HOTEL FARAON, Radamés' Office
Olegario and Genaro arrive to dark office.
O: "Clear his computer, then let's go!"
Anyone, please, is that all they did there?
Notes say just: Abel and Ig (Dad). Can not remember. Anyone, please?
DURAN HOME
Fernanada, Consuelo, Helena, Lucia are there. Lucia tells them she has something to show/ tell them about Liliana. Lily arrives, griping - about being called to meet with them??
Dan and Pablo arrive.
Lucia tells them all to come close and see what she has to show them. They all walk over to her on a computer.
Lucha plays the horrid video.
Lilian is at the back of the group, looking terrified.
(I tell you, I actually cried with relief that, ¡POR FIN! La maldita memoria is out in the open! IT has been such a dire threat over everyone!)
They all watch, horrified, then we see Liliana backing up, "I can explain," then she picks up a gun ( off a table or something??), waves it. Dan and Pablo pull guns, everyone pleading with Lily to put hers down. Ignacio walks through the group to her, asking her to please surrender, but then she pulls him to her and puts the gun to his head. She says a lot of things - anyone, please? - including telling Fern she is capable of killing her father.
HOTEL FARAON
Olegario and Genaro. ??
I have no more notes on this.
DURAN HOME
All are trying to convince Lily to give up. Lucia cries out, "Please, he is your father!" as Lily pulls Ignacio. "Let's go!" she tells him, and pulls him out the door.
POLICE HQ
Marisela can not open Radamés' files. They are encrypted.
OUTSIDE DURAN HOME
Lily and Ignacio. Dan and Pablo follow, guns drawn.
"Don't follow me!" Lily yells at them. "No negotiating."
and more … anyone, please?
"Get moving!" she commands her father.
They are in a car, Lily driving madly, Iggy asking her to calm down.
Lily stops the car. She is going to let him go. He asks her to please not go back to their home. She tells him to get out. She drives off.
Dan drives up and, asking if he is okay, picks Ignacio up.

Ignacio comes back. "How?" "Liliana let me go. Where is Fernanda?" "In her room."
Pablo is there, tries to talk to Helena, who will not talk to him.
Dan is there, asks Lucia how she is. "Fine," she says. ?? Details, anyone, please?
Dan asks her to please forgive him for the past?? She says something about Cesar's murderer being Liliana, something about Rafael??
Help, please!
Ignacio is with Fernanda, who is grieving. "Liliana is a monster." Iggy says it is his fault too. Sad, saying how his daughter was so pretty and sweet and ?? but could have killed him. Visibly painful.
THE HIDEOUT
Lily arrives, calling Lucha "Perra!"
details, anyone, please?
POLICE HQ, Jail
Radamés flashes on what Pablo said to him, how he will get his punishment in prison. He looks terrified.

THE HIDEOUT
Liliana and Genaro
I missed all of it, sorry. Anyone, please?
PENTHOUSE
Lucha gets home. Rafagario is there, says, "I was very worried about you." She says something ugly happened, tells him of the flash drive, how it was why Cesar was killed, Lily is horrible, it was dark, very dark.
Rafael is back, all sweet and concerned and mild …. He hugs her to him. She lets him.
I was afraid it was suggesting Lucha was falling for his act again, until we see her furious face leaned into him.
DAN'S HOME
Octavio introduces baby Vicky to her tio abuelo, grand uncle, who takes her in his arms. Sweet Dan, there.
Dan's phone rings, it is Liliana, who wants to talk. He agrees.
Dan shows Octavio the flash drive video, tells him it is what got his father, Cesar, killed.

part 1
the spiffy cleaning crew, accompanied by some cheerful music, has just finished up at the "Hello Motel" (not to be confused with the "Mello Hotel") Renato slips them the customary cash size brown envelope, Irene is soooo thankful,
Veronica, looking nice, is heading out,
where are you going?, Adan wants to know,
coffee with an amiga, she replies
amiga ???
and off they go into one of their usual jabbing rants,
do I need your permission, Vero asks,
putting an end to it,
and off she goes to see David,
nope, she pulls up at the coke shop to see Anas,
(you'd think the boss would have a side door so everyone that comes to see her doesn't get covered in coke dust)
and so they chat, and get down to it,
Veronica warns Anas to be careful of her romance with Conrado,
she saw them the other night,
Anas could care less, he's separated,
but the table turns when Vero mentions Conrado has strayed before but they always get back together,
(news to me too)
slight pause, until Anas warns Vero not to meddle,
and in come the three amigos, what the, Adan is thinking,
but Alejo throws it out,
the cops got the coke, all 600kg.
as the blood drains from everyone's faces,
and Vero's looking for the door, what is this place?
down Santiago way,
Analia's mom arrives at a business looking for Geraldo,
and is put off,
(not sure what goes on here, maybe a high class dating thingy)
but runs into a distinguished gent who wasn't happy with the choices,
asks her out for a drink,
sorry.
a depressed Irene makes it home with Renato and is headed to the showers,
when Modesta, sends them to see Anas, NOW,
back at the coke shop,
Adan hustles Vero out of there,
Anas commands they turn the place into a Perfume import thingy before the cops get there.
the cops are celebrating,
the mayor shows up, tells them to look nice for the press swarm,
Riquelme calls Saul, not a pretty face after his Iggy bashing,
he'll pass on the party,
and now Vero goes to see David
not home, but a neighbor helps,
a man with a baby? are you sure you got the right place?
Iggy is busy courting Paola,
never gonna happen,
ah come on...
Leandro walks in, tries to speed things up,
ok, Paola says, but one condition,
the picnic she didn't have and I think she mentioned an amigo (her brother)
whatever, Iggy and Leandro, whatever, whatever.
part 2
Anas, back at the mansion, behind her desk,
meets with Irene, whose had her shower,
a this, that, a prostitute, and a murderer too, tell me about it, Anas says,
Irene gets it, "Modesta"...
it was a dark and stormy night, nope,
it was a slow day at the old whore house,
especially for old whores,
when in came the presidente municipal and buddies,
a little rough grunt sex, then Irene wants her money, 200 pesos,
as she gets her bath ready,
he disagrees, she insists, he slaps her around,
drags her to the bath, and pushes her under,
she breaks free, bashes him and runs into the other room,
grabs his gun off the table as he charges her, BLAM!,
shoots him in the chest,
(and we saw in an earlier show her sneaking out the window, later to arrive at Anas' birthday party)
is that enough or do you want the details, Irene asks,
and leaves,
wait, Anas follows, calls her mama,
don't call me that Irene says,
Renato interrupts, the police are here,
it's Riquelme and Gloria,
they've come for the baby,
but wait, Silvana is here with the baby,
(this place is creepy)
his name is Rodrigo Cardona, (right?)
Conrado packs his bag,
Erika tries to get him to stay,
she loves him.
Gloria gets home with the baby, Gina is there,
(this must be the favor Gina asked of her)
[I didn't really get all of this, it will only be for 3 months, she is here for justice]
Conrado plunks his carpet bag down in Anas parlor,
I left her,
Anas comforts him.
Erika is alone in that big house,
well stocked in booze (but the marijuana keeps disappearing)
she slugs some down,
with a handful of pills,
closes her eyes and rests on the bathtub,
where are you going?
(the question of the day at the Romero's)
Lu asks Adan as he is being drawn to Erika's house,
maybe he shouldn't go...
ah, thanks so much Aficionada,
ok, this is Lili's deal, she gives Genaro and Lopez's confession to killing Anselmo, (that she recorded on her phone) thus getting Daniel off the hook, and he helps her, no?
love the way Lucia isn't going for Daniel's "we're ok now, right?"
excellent move by Lucia, getting all of the kids out of town.
I don't mind that Marina is still alive, as long as she becomes a nun.
interesting that Daniel has a guy in the shadows at home to gun down anyone after Octavio or mini Vicky.
mild mannered Ignacio in a hard hitting novela is hard to understand, but after his chat with Abel the other night, I have some respect for this guy, it reminds me of a conversation I had once about spiritual things where we are all brothers and sisters, and then watching him try to console Fernanda, not really a good person,
so when he told Lili, not to come home,
there is probably nothing worse he could have said to her.
Excuse me for noticing the least important thing in this very important episode, but...
Does Carlos have a pot belly? In that scene where he is looking at the babies, I was like OMG! It might have been distortion from the glass, but how did they let that slip?!
-El Señor EC
Aficionada Thank you for the recap; all the chickens are coming home to roost in this episode..
"Marisela uploaded a virus into Radamés' computer, and it wiped out his entire system as they left?" Yup, you got that right;( Later, Diablo berates Genaro for failing to read those files.)
and the reason Mari took over the computer caper is that in addition to pole dancing, it appears she's an expert in everything. Whereas Rodriguez is a stoopid doofus and kinda lazy at that. His only expertise outside of the bedroom appears to be chewing gum. I hope he gets a chance to prove his worth by the end of this, bcs if Mari ends up with him, I'll scream!
El Señor EC We've seen Carlos without a shirt on and while he's too skinny actually to have a pot belly, his posture doesn't particularly help that impression. Let's just say he's not the toned specimen that Pablo is. But I went back and looked and you are correct; it's the reflection of the nursery bassinets in the glass that gives the distinct impression that Carlos is about 5 months pregnant.
deb I was so grateful to realize that the kids were out of danger as all this family drama transpired. We'll see whether or not they drag poor Roxanita into another trauma with Liliana before it's over, but I'm thinking there's no longer any reason to.
On last week's page, Sat Feb 28, 09:38:00 AM EST, Spanish student posted, "I see there were a few middle of the night responses. I hope i didn't wake anyone with mobile or blog alerts."
Will someone please explain to me what that is about, means?
Thank you!
Aficionada
Thanks so much, Aficionada! As usual, you nailed the important stuff and turned out a truly enjoyable read.
And thanks to deb for specifying Liliana's deal. I'm especially grateful to lxv for answering El Señor's question about Carlos: now I won't be forced to do the research myself :-)
A bit more (not really crucial):
After Lucha has seen the video, she decides to gather the whole family, including Lily, at her parents' house. She asks Daniel to come too, and to be ready to detain someone. She asks Abel to make up some excuse to get Ignacio out of the house so he will be spared the horrible revelation of Lily's true self. (Of course Ignacio sees through Abel's feeble attempt at father-son bonding at the café and the two arrive back at the house just in time to Lily to grab Ignacio and hold a gun to his head.)
Carlos kind of admits to Marina that he likes the idea of being a father but he hates the way Deya used him. She points out that nobody forced him to go to bed with Deya, and if Deya had asked him about having a baby, he would certainly have refused.
Carlos and Gonzalo have a rueful exchange about their self-imposed lonesome states and their need to hide from same by working 24/7. They part with one of them (can't remember which) saying to the other: "Call me if you decide to switch from coffee to tequila."
--------
I'll recap tonight unless someone else wants to do it.
LOS MIZ
"Dr. Mallorca and Carlos. Carlos tells him he needs to get some sleep, he can't go 24 hours a day with patients." This scene has some real tenderness; Gonzalo admits his deep fears about the Parkinson's and says he can't be alone with himself to face them; he'd rather stay busy. Carlos, kindly & gently commiserates. They share many faults in common; Gonzalo suggests, even cowardice? [I could see them as couple, except that Carlos prefers women in this story.]
NvMv
"They part with one of them (can't remember which) saying to the other: 'Call me if you decide to switch from coffee to tequila.' " That was Gonzalo; to which Carlos laughingly replied: "You gangster!"
Thank you so much for adding and correcting so much deb!
Great point: "so when [Ignacio] told Lili, not to come home, there is probably nothing worse he could have said to her." Among many other great points.
I agree, strongly, with everything you said! Love: "I don't mind that Marina is still alive, as long as she becomes a nun." LOL, Yes!!
"excellent move by Lucia, getting all of the kids out of town." Yes, yes, yes!!
and more :D
Thank you so much, too, for adding and correcting so much, lxv!
" ... all the chickens are coming home to roost in this episode." whew, yes! It is moving so fast now!
" ... in addition to pole dancing, it appears [Marisela's] an expert in everything. Whereas Rodriguez is a stoopid doofus and kinda lazy at that .... " and the rest of that paragraph, Yes!! Very well said!
You wrote to deb: "We'll see whether or not they drag poor Roxanita into another trauma with Liliana before it's over, but I'm thinking there's no longer any reason to."
It may be overkill, but she is the only witness to Liliana's killing Roque, so she might still be expected to testify to that; do you think so?
Aficionada
Just saw ...
Thank you so much for your kind words to me, NovelaMaven! And for all the gaps you filled, and corrections! I missed all of that, and I think it really was crucial, added so much!!
"[Lucia] asks Daniel to come too, and to be ready to detain someone. She asks Abel to make up some excuse to get Ignacio out of the house so he will be spared the horrible revelation of Lily's true self." Ah! Yes!
This is a surprise, Marina saying something I feel almost makes me like her: "She points out that nobody forced [Carlos] to go to bed with Deya, and if Deya had asked him about having a baby, he would certainly have refused." YAY!!
Thank you about recapping tonight, if needed, too! How you have helped us keep up with this fast-paced stage of the story!!
Aficionada
Tks so much Hombre. I had considered gun barrels, but also, beer cans & some drug paraphernalia that I was not familiar with.
Aficionada : "It may be overkill, but she is the only witness to Liliana's killing Roque, so she might still be expected to testify to that" Thanks for that reminder. Yes, and they made such a big deal out of her witnessing and later the loss of speech due to Lil's threat. You are right, they couldn't leave such a loose end hanging. So, alas, the kids will get dragged back into it.
Thank you for adding so much more, lxv!
"Why would Pablo even engage in a face off with Radames, at this point? He's much too vulnerable to his emotions; but it appears our man of steel held onto that last shred of self-control and won the day." Yes!! I was surprised anyone even let him in the room with Rad! But at least he did get a very effective kind of long-lasting revenge, while not destroying himself by killing that monster.
"our man of steel," yes!
Aficionada
lxv: "So, alas, the kids will get dragged back into it."
I fear it is so. I dread that, too, if it must be. I adore Macarena Oz, and if it does happen, I look forward to seeing her handle what would have to be a very demanding dramatic part.
Thank you!
Aficionada
I was actually worried about Pablo's threats to Radamés being captured on video and later used against him. We did hear Olegario tell Genaro that he was planning to mobilize a similar prison reception for Radamés. When/IF it happens, there will be 'proof' that Pablo was responsible.
Oh my, NovelaMaven: "I was actually worried about Pablo's threats to Radamés being captured on video and later used against him." What a thought! You're right, it is lined up that way, now. I wonder if Alejandro, in letting him in "The Box" with Rad, in the first place - KNOWING Pablo was feeling homicidal toward Rad - might have ... turned off the camera?? As against such a thing as I would be in reality, I sure would rather that than see our heroic Pablo in such a terrible position: held responsible for something vile that el Diablo does!! Please, no! But, the do seem to have written it to lead that way, don't they?
Thank you!
Aficionada
Great recap, Deb, thanks! I especially liked "it was a slow day at the old whore house,
especially for old whores". Hah!
It appears that although Marcelo wanted Gina to name her baby Marcelo, she's going with Rodrigo Cardona, the name picked out by Silvana. She doesn't feel like taking care of the baby, so she's forcing her sister Gloria to take care of him. Gloria will only do this for 3 months. What will Gina do? Revenge on Anas! So, really, Gina's not such a wonderful person, either. See could just take the baby and leave. But no.
I think Gerardo runs the escort service, I think the old guy was asking if sex was involved, and they said yes, if all parties agree (not sure about that).
Things aren't looking too good for Erica, all those pills and booze, I AM rooting for Adan to go over there, to save her.
Anas' life is falling apart, first the coke is gone, now the baby is gone. She does have Conrado (but who wants HIM?) and now she understands Irene more. What will happen if Gina appears, and Anas realizes that Renato lied to her about killing Gina?
By now, you'd think Vero would KNOW that David's a liar, and stay away from him. But this being a novela, she'll probably just ASK him why no baby is there, and he'll come up with a glib response. Wake up, Vero!
That's funny that Paola agreed to marry Iggy if she has her picnic, and her amigo (Jose) is invited.
NvMv Yikes! you're right! about Pablo & the possibility of a set-up. That thought crossed my mind as the scene unfolded, but I was so relieved when he crossed to the other side of the table and crossed his arms so as not to use them, that I forgot about his threatening words.
deb, I actually watched the show last night so I was particularly delighted to see that you decided to recap the episode. What a treat!
So glad you mentioned the cheerful musical backdrop to the cleaners. That's the first time I've noticed tongue-in-cheek music. Up to now, it seems as if costumes and set decoration have had all the fun to themselves...
speaking of which -- Poor Vero! Did you get a load of the sleeves on the dress she wore to Anastasia's? How could anyone take her seriously in a get-up like that? The first time she was at the house, she looked like a quinceañera. The other night, she looked like a quince in mourning.
Like hombre, I also loved the line about the old whores.
Hey hombre, not only did the neighbor say "what baby?" she also said the apartment was vacant, though she acknowledged that some guy came by now and then. Again I say, poor Vero. She is being painted as such a fool for ignoring all the screaming warning signs that are obvious to the viewer.
So a picnic for Paola and a friend who looks like Leandro. Sounds like fun.
Deb, I loved your recap, which was delightful and helpful at the same time. Many thanks! I especially appreciated your coverage of the stuff in Santiago. I had forgotten that the woman was Alania mother, and I really had no idea what was going on.
I laughed out loud at your description of Erica's house "well stocked in booze (but the marijuana keeps disappearing)."
I'm not sure what to make of Erica's downing those pills after drinking almost the entire bottle of...well, it wasn't orange juice. I thought perhaps she was trying to kill herself, but she didn't really take enough pills, and in fact I don't think she took all that were in the bottle. But why else would she take so many?
Clearly, Adán will arrive in time to save her. And then....?
Someone get Paola some potato salad, STAT! She's still pissed about missing that picnic. Sad that "sitting on the grass and eating food with ants" is all she wants to get married.
Gina. Ugh. She could take that kid and disappear, but now. I don't think she's a bad person, just stupid. True of several characters who haven't actually murdered yet (Erica, Veronica- is being nosy with a drug dealer really the best thing?, etc.)
Kelly
Deb, thanks so much! I love your sense of humor.
That spiffy cleanup crew and the whistling music were a hoot! I was thinking THIS cleanup crew is a lot different than Harvey Keitel in Pulp Fiction.
Analía's mom is a piece of work. I kind of got that she was self-absorbed by the way she talked to Analía, not that excited to hear from her child. I loved the way the receptionist at Gerardo's place just ignored her.
Yes, I think Gerardo runs a high-priced escort service. That guy was, I think, a retired general or something. I learned a new colloquialism in the conversation with the three men, but I didn't write down exactly in what context they used it. no saltaba la liebre. Literally: let go of the hare. Figuratively: Did not get it on or did not get laid.
Also Gerardo's name is not Casanegra, but Casaneira, which seems more likely.
Poor Adán. At this point he could stand to be with someone nurturing like Érica. His wife, his daughter (at least last night) and his mother are on his case all the time.
I was very impressed with the scene with Anas and Irene. I hope we're done with the horrible scenes of what happened to Irene as a prostitute, but I suspect it isn't that far from the truth. Irene's dignity when she asked if Anas wanted to know any more was great. She's begged too many times for crumbs. But Anas was ashamed of herself after she heard what that pig did to her that caused her to shoot him. She called her mamá. I don't think Irene said "Don't call me mamá", but rather "You don't like to call me that."
Thanks, Aficionada! Loved reading your recap. Although we're no where near having closure on the important issues, I definitely felt a leap forward...so much so that some characters directly stated what we've been waiting to hear all along (Fernanda/Ignacio, Carlos and Mallorca, even Dan and Lucha). Still more ground to cover though.
Re: mobile alerts, I don't know if it's possible with blogs but I was referring to the alerts we receive on our phones/devices for voice messages, emails, apps, etc. I guess the answer to my question was No. lol
BTW, does anyone know the date of the last episode?
spanish student
thanks guys, for filling in the blanks!
say, was the reason Veronica showed up at Anas perfume garage, to ask for security/protection for Lu? She even asked Adan once if they should get a gun, she is about the only realistic person in this show, (which makes her hard to take).
The reason Vero showed up at the drugs warehouse was to tell Anas that she should leave Conrado alone, that Conrado and Erica still love each other. She also threatened to tell Erica about seeing what she saw at Casa Cardona unless she backed off Conrado. Anas gave her that steely look and asked if she was threatening her. Whoa, Vero had to back off fast.
Vero has a good heart, but she has very rigid morals in an era when there was lots of sexual liberation and use of drugs. She doesn't fit into this world at all.
First of all THANK YOU to all of the recappers. I really liked this novela early on and it felt a little lonely at times, so it has been awesome to have such great recaps. As far as when it finishes, the Telemundo site has La Biblia starting March 25 in the same time slot as LM.
Tierra
My students are really into this novela. One came with her hair "like Sofia's" one day and another slicked his hair back to look like Arturo. Another wants to push Leonardito off a cliff. We are a few episodes behind, so I cannot wait until they see Flavio riding up on his horse to rescue Irina!
Thanks again to all of you who take time to recap and comment.
Novelera, thanks very much for translating "no saltaba la liebre." My dictionaries were of no help at all. Often I then try WordReference.com, but this time I didn't.
Thanks, Deb. Your recap reads like poetry.
Adan cracked me up when he told Vero he is sick and tired of her - she won't listen to him or tell him where she's going. Now she's giving his boss a lecture about fooling around with her friend's man. Can't believe she went to visit Iggy again.
How could I leave Renato off the list of folks I'm rooting for. I'm rooting for this noble enforcer, but I just don't know what I want for him. Not Anas, that's for sure.
Here we go again! Chad is practicing basketball when Daytona and the gals arrive. They give him a big envelope of cash, and he gives them the brick of marijuana. Outside the school, Lu meets up with Chad, and discovers the envelope of money. Where'd you get all that cash?
Gloria implores Gina, just leave, forget your revenge, you'll get killed! Gina isn't worried, she knows people, she's resolved. Later, we see her put on a brown wig. Then she goes to Leandro's place, wants to meet with him!
Vero is in her bathing suit, walking around her pool, getting ready to take some rays, when Iggy appears and puts a towel on her shoulders! She doesn't understand why he's there, he says the time for lies is over, his name is not David Costa. Now tell me about your husband's business. He reaches his hand behind his back, looking as if he's going for a gun, but he's really turning on a tape recorder, he wants evidence against Adán. But Vero doesn't know WHAT he's doing, she starts getting VERY uneasy. She asks what his name is, he says I'm not stupid, and doesn't tell her. He DOES tell her that he's going to marry her, she's his woman now. And he entered her house without her knowing. And her daughter is very juicy.....Vero's REALLY freaking out now! He says he can come back to her hosue whenever he wants! He starts grabbing her, forcing her to kiss him, when Sergio shows up! He had gone to see Érica, found the door open, searched around, and found her unconscious! An ambulance arrives, and Iggy insists on going to the hospital with Vero! She finally gets him to leave at the hospital. Érica is okay, Vero later tells her she's not alone. Of course, where is Conrado? Vero says she's glad that slime Sergio has left. Érica reminds her that Sergio just saved her life.
Anas has a meeting with all the guys, including Saúl. He explains that if the cops intercepted the 600 kilos of coke, one of the people here must be leaking things. (We know it's Elias). So far, Anas doesn't suspect anyone, but she does say that trust is the most important thing in this business.
The cops decide to raid Anas' warehouse. They come in force, all wearing riot gear. They burst in, but it's just a normal perfume factory. They pretty much wreck the place, but find nothing. Wait a minute, there's a locked door. They shoot the lock off, open it, and recoil from the stench. Down the steps they go, and I'm thinking, Victor Manuel is still there? But he's not, because just in time, Anas's guys got him out. We see Paola walking outside her house, and she's almost hit by a motorcycle, just as some guys in a car push Victor Manuel out. In the confusion, she sees nothing, nor does her guard. Iggy is furious about this.
It's time for Paola's picnic. She's out in the park, waiting with José Carlos, who keeps asking her, why is the table set for four? Finally, Leandro and Iggy appear. Father and son take one look at each other, and that's the end of the picnic. Not a word is exchanged. Paola is disappointed. She asks José why do you hate him so much? José just says he's been dead to me since our mother died. And if you keep this up, you'll be dead to me, too. Paola later asks her Dad what happened, but he won't tell either, except to say that José is “sick”.
Leandro is in bed with Doctora Isabel, she gives him a shot of morphine, he's loving it, and starts loving her. Paolo walks in on them. Whoops! Leandro defends himself, he has the right to sleep with his doctor, why not? After all, he only has 60 days of life left.
Iggy later tells Leandro how he was just about to get Vero to confess, when some guy showed up, and said the gal next door, that REALLY hot one, wife of San Miguel, must have tried to kill herself. Leandro doesn't care about everyone's life stories, he just wants Iggy to succeed. And once again, he's failed. He asks Iggy to find out everything he can about that guy who was with Paolo at the picnic. Well, boss, can you give me some data to start with, like his name? Yeah, well his name is José Carlos Quezada. What, boss, some relative of yours? Yes, my oldest son.
The police raid was a “bust”, and Ferrara has to tell the reporters, we're winning the drug war, Miami is gonna be a new place now. Yeah, right. Anas is concerned they'll now come to her house again, bother her. She wants to get away. So she and Conrado go on a vacation to some other beach in another city. It looks as if their love really is blooming. She calls him sweet, he says she is, too. Nah, says she, everyone says I'm tough. Yes, he replies, but under that tough exterior, there's a heart of gold. And I want to touch that heart.
Speaking of touching, Gina, disguised with the wig, asks to be admitted to speak to Leandro. The guards let her in, and she wants to speak to him alone. Iggy says that's not a good idea. Why not, she replies, I'm not armed, wanna search me? Iggy starts drooling, looking at her svelte figure in a simple but sexy white blouse and skirt, gets ready for his pat down, when Leandro says that won't be necessary, you can leave me alone with the niña. Iggy reluctantly leaves. Leandro looks at Gina, holds her firmly by the throat, do I know you? Yes, she squeaks out, quietly but firmly, until recently I was the assistant, secretary and lover of your worst enemy!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words spanish student!
" ... I definitely felt a leap forward... " Yes, a definite leap! It's all moving so fast now!
" ... so much so that some characters directly stated what we've been waiting to hear all along (Fernanda/Ignacio, Carlos and Mallorca, even Dan and Lucha)." Yes! And it is such a relief!! Sometimes I am here almost shouting at them, "Talk to each other!"
"Re: mobile alerts, I don't know if it's possible with blogs but I was referring to the alerts we receive on our phones/devices for voice messages, emails, apps, etc. I guess the answer to my question was No. lol" :D
Another relief for me, since, as you might have noticed, I post mostly in the late night, and I kind of froze thinking I could be waking people, over and over again!, in the predawn hours!!
Thanks again.
Thank YOU, newmex1612!
"I really liked this novela early on and it felt a little lonely at times ... " Me too. Such a gift, this Caray, Caray! place, ah?
Enjoy!
Aficionada
Olegario, Liliana, Genaro and the rest of the miserables are down, but they aren't out yet. Let's look at what happened tonight:
A BAR IN THE CITY: LOYALTY? NEVER HEARD THE WORD!
Daniel meets up with Lily and hears her out. She'll give him the video in which López and Genaro confess to Anselmo's murder if he hands over the famous memoria. An even trade -- her freedom for his (he'd be exonerated of the murder rap. After all, he knows how unjust the justice system can be.) Danny refuses. He'd rather be a fugitive all his life than make a deal with a murderer like her. He'll clear his name the honorable way and get his old life back. Lily offers another deal: she'll hand him the Diablo's head in exchange for her freedom. Nuh-uh. Lily and the Diablo are running out of luck. It won't be long before they fall.
HOSPITAL NURSERY: ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE
Sor Caridad (aka Marina) bumps into Carlos at the baby window. Much to the amusement of Carlos, she kvetches about the religious life. She can't understand why the real nuns do what they do, and with a smile yet. Sor Milly cruises along just in time to explain (while a heavenly choir accompanies her in the background) that in a world filled with hate, the sisters are there to serve and to love. They are a living reminder of God's love for humanity. Y todo lo demás está de más. (And everything else gravy)
The next morning...
AFIAD
Alejandro shows up bright and early only to find Evaristo and Marisela on their way out after their all-nighter at the computer. (Well, Ev made coffee and slept while Mari hacked into Rad's files.)
DURAN BREAKFAST TABLE -- ELENA SERVES UP A PAINFUL DOSE OF TRUTH
Elena shuts down Ignacio's attempt to put a good face on things. Cállate, que tu optimismo barato puede crispar hasta un santo (Be quiet, your cheap optimism would irritate even a saint.) She reminds her parents, as Abel and Chelo look on silently, of the monstrous things that Lily has done and she refuses to allow Fernanda to take on the role of victim. Fernanda KNEW, and she covered for Lily for a very long time.
OUTSIDE SOR MILLY'S OFFICE -- ARE YOU CALLING ME FAT?
Deya, seated at her desk under the enormous Pietà, is back at work. Carlos brings her a box of cookies and an offer to take responsibility for the baby and be part of the child's life. She accepts so fast that she has to interrupt his spiel and repeat herself twice: Menso, te estoy diciendo que acepto (Fool, I'm telling you that I agree.)
DANNY'S HIDEOUT APARTMENT
Dan asks Pablo to give Alejandro the flash drive. Mari and Ev arrive with Rad's computer. They show the guys the video they found, the one used to pressure the old senator into removing Daniel from his job. Although Pablo thinks it would be playing dirty, Daniel wants to use the video to get the senator to do the right thing. Evaristo agrees with Daniel (which shows you what a bad idea it really is).
THE SENATOR'S OFFICE: THE FIRST VISITOR
Genaro is there to put the screws to the old guy yet again. He wants the senator to have Radamés transferred to the big house immediately. The senator pulls out his phone.
THE ONLY WAREHOUSE IN THE D.F. WITH A DRESS CODE
Lily discovers that everything has been erased from the hard drive of Radamés' computer. What if it wasn't Rad who did the erasing?
OUTSIDE CARLOS'S OFFICE
Elena has decided to return to work, bruises and all. She tries to draw attention away from her battered face by wearing skin-tight leggings over her slight bowed legs. And as if she didn't have enough trouble, Sor Caridad comes along and tries to give her some commonsense advice (It's too soon, you have to process the trauma...). Elena tells her to butt out.
AFIAD
Pablo hands over the flash drive to Alejandro. "This memoria is the reason César Mondragón and Victoria Gordillo were murdered."
And in the detention area, despite his loud protests, Radamés is removed from his cell for transfer to the prison.
THE SENATOR'S OFFICE: THE SECOND VISITOR
Daniel ambushes the senator with the humiliating video. "I have you in my hands," Daniel tells him.
WAREHOUSE: SURROUNDED BY IMBECILES
The Diablo is worried that the police may have gotten to Rad's computer and its contents. He reaches for his phone and realizes he must have left it at home. Using Lily's phone, he calls Vidal to ask if the police are involved. Vidal knows nothing. Olegario rants and Lily titters. Olegario reminds her that if they lose leverage over the senator, they are fregados.
THE SENATOR'S OFFICE
Now Daniel turns the screws. He wants the senator to make a public statement explaining that he was forced to remove Daniel from his post and replace him with Vidal; and he wants the old man to explain the video that was used to pressure him. The camera gives us a close-up of Daniel's clenched fist of a face, eyes burning with anger. The old man seems to be shriveling with shame.
THE BIG HOUSE
Radamés gets his own cage. His reputation as a rapist has preceded him. The guards and prisoners greet him with the contempt he deserves.
THE PENTHOUSE OF PERDITION: LUCHA GETS LUCKY!
Lucía enters and calls for Rafael. No one is home, but his cellphone is sitting on the table -- and it's unlocked!
SENATOR'S OFFICE
When Daniel is deaf to his pleas ("You'd be ruining my life and endangering my family"), the senator makes a desperate grab for a gun and holds it to his own head. He'd rather die than be shamed. But Daniel wrests the gun from him...
THE P OF P
Lucha checks out Oleg's contacts: Genaro, Lily, Quique Vidal... She takes a photo of the list with her own phone. That should help Danny...
WAREHOUSE: SERIOUSLY, DIABLO?
Genaro has joined the party now. Lily tells them it looks like a virus wiped the hard drive clean. Oh look! Here comes Nuria, unaccountably still breathing at this late date, draping herself all over Oleg and setting off Liliana's scornful rant, which, in the circumstances, is pretty funny. Olegario, exasperated by both women, says if Daniel Ponce has the video, they are all lost.
SENATOR'S OFFICE
Vaguely patriotic instrumental music swells in the background. Daniel has decided to let the senator decide whether he will take the honorable route and do the right thing because "independent of his sexual preferences," he is a good man who is well respected.
[This is a bit of a crock, of course. He is a married old coot who was fooling around with a young hooker, and he was willing to take favors from and do favors for Radamés long before Daniel Ponce's job was at stake. Writers, are you really going to make this is about "sexual preferences?"]
Does he really want to be linked to drug trafficking? Does he want to be responsible for turning the anti-narcotics arm of the police department over to the criminals? If he confesses, there will be a scandal over his "sexual preferences," but in the end, he will be known as a man of strength and honor, Daniel assures him.
Left alone, the senator stares at the framed photos of his perfect family.
AFIAD: MOVIES BUT NO POPCORN
After Alejandro has seen the video, Pablo explains the story of the memoria and its connection to the chain of crime, including César's death. And not only did Liliana kill her niece to keep her from talking, she used her own father as a hostage so she could escape.
HOSPITAL, OUTSIDE CARLOS'S OFFICE
Elena turns down Carlos's offer to help her deal with her trauma. He tells her about Deya's upcoming ultrasound, being careful to stress that his involvement is with the child, not the mother. Elena thinks the two are hard to separate.
HOSPITAL
Gonzalo performs Deya's ultrasound. Carlos grins broadly as he listens to the baby's heartbeat and watches the image on the screen.
WAREHOUSE: ¡NO CANTES VICTORIA!
Rad's in jail, and Lily and Genaro are fugitives, but the Diablo is untouchable because HE is Rafael Montes. Genaro says they still need to recover their merchandise and then scram. Lily says Genaro is right. Olegario spends too much time obsessing over his hatred for Daniel and his LOVE for the bastard Lucha. Both Lily and Genaro see Lucha as a danger, one that Oleg is blind to. Oleg chews on that thought...
...while at the P of P, Lucha calls Danny and arranges to meet him at the hospital.
SOR MILLY'S OFFICE: HAVE YOU NOTICED?
Deya bubbles over about her ultrasound and her wish for a boy (because women suffer so much in this world), but ends up saying she'll be happy with a healthy baby, boy or girl. Then she asks Milagros: "Have you noticed that Dr. Mallorca's hands are shaking all the time?" She hasn't, but she'll have to find out what is going on.
CAFÉ
Abel signs the divorce papers as Adriana looks on, holding baby Santiago in her arms. The two agree they will remain professional partners and best friends forever.
HOSPITAL
Carlos shares his excitement over the ultrasound with Elena. She smiles and talks about a child being the greatest treasure life holds. But when he tries to hug her, she pulls away. "Don't touch me," she says icily.
Daniel, wearing a maintenance uniform, meets Deya in the hallway. She tells him Lucha is in the emergency department. He heads in that direction.
AN OUTDOOR CAFÉ
Radamés has sent his lawyer to deliver a message to Olegario: If the Diablo doesn't get him out of prison, he is going to talk. The Diablo has a message of his own: If Radamés talks, he'll be released straight into hell! The lawyer beats a strategic retreat. Olegario reflects that now Radamés is going to have to die.
HOSPITAL
Lucha spots Daniel and takes him into the locker room so they can talk. She is anxious to share her information, but he won't let her, insisting on acting like a jealous, love-struck teenager. Then he pleads with her -- with good reason -- not to return to the P of P. The game has become too dangerous. She rejects his advice. Finally, she manages to give him the list of names from Olegario's phone. Daniel is pleased.
PRISON
The other animals are removed from their cages. Only Radamés is left. Then a guard unlocks his cage to admit two predators who are there to break him in. There follows a horrific scene of abuse that leaves Rad bloodied and cowering on the floor, his pants around his ankles, while his abusers promise frequent future visits.
HOSPITAL LOCKER ROOM
Daniel thanks Lucha for believing in him. He's a better man for having met her. They finally kiss -- a lingering kiss, not just a little peck on the lips.
Deya is chatting at the nurses' station when Rafagario arrives and asks if she has seen his wife. Deya directs him to the cafeteria. Then she alerts Lucha by paging her (smart cookie!).
Daniel and Lucha argue again about her decision to stay with Rafagario. Lucha leaves the locker room. Deya catches her in the hall and tells her that she sent Rafagario to the cafeteria (though she would have preferred to send him to hell).
Daniel, thinking the coast is clear, slips out of the locker room, only to be intercepted by Sor Loser Caridad. Sor Loser asks him tartly what he was doing with Lucía.
In the cafeteria, Rafagario persuades Lucha to go someplace else to eat.
Meanwhile, Sor Loser has pulled Daniel back into the locker room and is chewing him out for going back to Lucía. Dan apologizes to Marina for the harm he has caused her and promises that very soon, she will have her life back. He follows her back into the hallway, reassuring her that she looks beautiful in her habit -- why she reminds him of his Aunt Amparo! [Snort!]
Lucha and Olegario happen to be passing by at that moment. Marina is facing them and seems to look straight at Olegario. Daniel turns around, following her gaze. Busted? Find out tomorrow!
End of Episode
Just skimmed, but have to say, thank you for this great recap, NovelaMaven!
"Sor Loser"!!! LOL to tears, honestly!! So perfect. contrast to sor caridad, just too perfect.
On to reading thoroughly, now, JOY!!
Aficionada
"Find out tomorrow!" aaarrggh!!
So much is happening, it takes my breath away!!
You did a tremendous job of telling us this story, NovelaMaven!! I'd missed much of the showing, so feeling as if I saw the whole thing should tell you how well your recap tells it. Cherished! Missing anything at this point is wrenching!
"Lily offers another deal: she'll hand him the Diablo's head in exchange for her freedom. Nuh-uh. Lily and the Diablo are running out of luck. It won't be long before they fall."
What I can not understand - well, except in telenovela terms, of course - is why, when they have a video of Lilian murdering the witness whose name escapes me, at this moment, she walks around free! ?! Okay, maybe they want to take them all as a mob, but still. Has this been explained and I missed it? Using her to get to el Diablo, et al?
YAY, Dan NOT taking Liliana's twisted deal, and in such noble terms. YAY, Sor Milagros' response to Marina's unenlightened comments. YAY YAY YAY, Helena's telling it like it is, in perfect fury, to her delusional parents.
YAY ... :
"[This is a bit of a crock, of course. He is a married old coot who was fooling around with a young hooker, and he was willing to take favors from and do favors for Radamés long before Daniel Ponce's job was at stake. Writers, are you really going to make this is about 'sexual preferences?']" ... YOUR enlightened elucidation for the writers, and us! Hear, hear!
"a horrific scene of abuse" yes.
Radamés.
it went too far, too explicit, i think. only possibly redeemed by being a powerfully frightening "word to the wise" to all potential and actual abusers.
I think if they had just made it clear it happened, it might have lent a feeling of justice served. Still, I don't even think that slime deserved that. You know, I thought Pablo's telling him to expect it to happen, the effect it had on Radamés, having him live in terror of that, forever more, would have felt more satisfying to me.
"Sor Loser." MORE THAN EVER, when she was in that locker room with Daniel. I can not fathom his continuing hearing her and never reminding her he has been honest with her from the very first moment. I can not imagine continuing to pressure someone who is in love with someone else, especially once it turns out they can hope to be together, after all.
Again, I am chanting at her, "Dignity, Marina!"
And much more! Got to run, for now, but thank you, again, NovelaMaven!
Another GREAT Writer!!
Aficionada
terrific recap Hombre!
you are so good at putting his all together.
and Victor Manuel goes home.
so Chad is Daytona's dealer now, interesting how Daytona has her girls trained, but maybe the last one was actually the buyer, as she questions the quality, and Daytona asks him to go eat with her, which he does, what is up with these two?
apparently Vero never connected the dots about the rose from David being in her bedroom, but she is getting the picture now, interesting at the hospital that Sergio mentions Erika is a film star, and Iggy's ears pick up, yeah, Sergio says, I make films for Anastaci... but Vero sends Sergio for coffee...
ah yes the love birds Anas and Conrado, on vacation, Renato gets to take care of business, as they kiss, are they in someone's crosshairs?
NovelaMaven, my favorite story teller, que rico.
somewhere I think I heard the word policia pension, where Pablo is staying when his girls kick him out, and I think that's Dan's new hideout.
it's kind of strange but isn't Alejandro a regular homicide cop, but he seems to use the same stuff as AFIAD, but they are different, right?
that Nuria is a survivor all right, just before the FIN, will we see a wink?
isn't the senator into guys, more than the ordinary scandal, I was thinking Daniel would say kill yourself, but all will be revealed anyway.
ha!, everyone recognizes Daniel in disguise at the hospital.
I keep thinking Gonzalo's right hand might be a transplant from a serial killer, but I guess that's just me.
I so love Adriana and Abel, they are friends, like most people never know.
NovelaMaven I bow to your great skill! This recap is perfection! Time to re-read & savor it again.
Could it be we have until La Biblia starts on the 25th to sort all this out?
As far as acting goes, I thought Liliana's moment of defeat after Dan refused all her options was subtle & convincing. It was all in the facial expressions. She's usually so flamboyant as to be a bit unbelievable.
CONTINUITY ALERT: "Mari and Ev arrive with Rad's computer." Am I nuts, or did not Mari take great pains to download all the files, then trash Rad's computer & leave it in his office for Diablo's team to find & take. But the computer Mari took to Dan was clearly marked "Faraon". Then later, at the warehouse, Liliana tries to get into the same trashed computer?
And WHY would a seasoned criminal like Olegario EVER leave his cell phone lying about at home?
"Daniel's clenched fist of a face" — Perfect!
"Vaguely patriotic instrumental music swells in the background" The music is starting to play a larger role in this production. Those not-so-subtle Star Wars-y anthems announcing victory are cropping up all around; also in the scene where Pablo lays it out to Alejandro. The justice league is on the march!
I like your indignation about the pervy senator, but I'm hoping that heroic music will inspire him to do as our man Dan suggests.
Thank you for your restrained & carefully worded description of Radamés' violación in the prison. It was indeed horrific, but he had it coming.
"Sor Loser" —brilliant!
Thanks so much, dear night owls and early risers!
deb,
"Isn't the senator into guys, more than the ordinary scandal"
Yes, he is. And you're right -- if the co-star in the dirty movie had been a woman, the senator would probably have blustered his way through, bolstered by the ambient homophobia and machismo. What I'm saying is that the behavior would have been just as reprehensible, even if less embarrassing, and I don't like seeing our HERO reduce the issue to "sexual preferences."
Good question about Alejandro. Maybe he works on narcotics-associated homicides?
I've heard Pablo's place referred to as in a pensión too, but I don't think Dan is living there because everyone -- bride's family and groom's family -- knows where it is. Also, Dan's place looks much dumpier.
"I keep thinking Gonzalo's right hand might be a transplant from a serial killer"
So wicked. So funny.
Aficionada,
"What I can not understand - well, except in telenovela terms, of course - is why, when they have a video of Lilian murdering the witness whose name escapes me, at this moment, she walks around free! ?!"
As soon as Lucha went public with the video, Lily became a fugitive again. Up until that time, she was riding high on that boughten court order that dropped all charges against her.
I was cheering for Elena at the breakfast table too, but it felt like her later behavior had more to do with trauma victim and less with liberated woman, which, when you think about it, it pretty realistic. A real Elena would need a lot of time and probably a lot of help to get past her torture. I wonder if we will get to see our characters 'meses después' so we can see how she heals.
I absolutely agree that the Radamés scene was too graphic.
lxv, you are so kind!
"Am I nuts, or did not Mari take great pains to download all the files, then trash Rad's computer & leave it in his office for Diablo's team to find & take. But the computer Mari took to Dan was clearly marked "Faraon". Then later, at the warehouse, Liliana tries to get into the same trashed computer?"
ooh, nice catch! I missed that completely. I guess I assumed Mari had transferred Rad's files to a new flash drive and then was working on a police laptop. Hah!
Yes, Olegario is plenty paranoid. It's unlike him to leave his cellphone lying around. As soon as he reached in his pocket and realized he didn't have it, we all knew the phone was going to feature in the plot.
"Those not-so-subtle Star Wars-y anthems announcing victory are cropping up all around; also in the scene where Pablo lays it out to Alejandro. The justice league is on the march!"
Nice!
So maybe we WILL ride this all the way to La Biblia, There's more than enough plot to go around.
Thanks for that recap NovelaMaven. For some reason, I could not understand most of the dialog in this episode. Your recap was most helpful.
Ojo por ojo, Radames is paying for his treatment of Helena. Too graphic? Not more so than Radames' rape of Helena.
So, what do we propose as just punishment for our other villains?
El Diablo - burned alive
Liliana - shot, pushed down a flight of stairs and stabbed in the heart, yet surviving to rot in jail
Genaro - shot
Nuria - back to working the streets
Lopez - strangled with a shoelace
Vidal - choked on his own spittle
Fernanda - the looney bin
-El Señor EC
Thank you, everyone, for your comments and for keeping the debate alive.
I was actually sorry for Andrea after Sam said that "everything" happened between them. For a woman that's a horrible situation. But then, when I realized that she was mostly upset because she couldn't remember all the spicy details... like: "Darn, girl, you spent all that time fantasizing about the guy and then you get the chance to be with him and you forget all about it?!"
She did push Sam's buttons pretty hard by calling him a "mugroso", but his response should have been: "Nothing happened because you do nothing for me as a woman." That would have hurt her more, even if he doesn't know it, yet.
I can't wait to see what happens with them at Sofia's party, right now they are the interesting couple.
I bet that Cayetana is just about ready to accept the brothers into her life when the truth comes out. Oh, the nastiness that will follow...
Thank you for your reply, NovelaMaven!
I hadn't been specific, but what made me wonder about Liliana walking freely was her meeting with Dan after the video was seen. When she just got up and walked away, I couldn't understand that. I kept hoping, through their meeting, that he would just say to her, "You're under arrest."
I agree, absolutely, that we're seeing severe trauma in Helena. Again, I was not specific enough. My cheer was for someone, finally, talking as fiercely to Fernanda and Ignacio as they deserve, and need to hear. I agree, heartachingly, that it is deeply sad it took a shattering of impulse control by torture and trauma the likes of which Helena suffered. I agree it is not "liberation." I do feel her expressing unguardedly would have to be more therapeutic than not doing so.
You wrote "I wonder if we will get to see our characters 'meses después' so we can see how she heals." I hope so!!
Thank you, and thank you, lxv, for calling my attention to the music changes! and to many other details!
Deb, you too! "that Nuria is a survivor all right, just before the FIN, will we see a wink?" Yes! Love that! I love Nuria, too! She seems to be one walking wink, to me. Actress Elsy Reyes certainly is one!
buen dia a todos

Wow, thanks NovelaMaven. This was quite a treat for my morning read.
So much is happening now. I wanted to see Rad pay for what I had to watch last Friday, but it was still hard to stomach at 7pm. But as someone warned him, possibly Pablo, an eye for an eye... (This actor has been more than generous in allowing his body to be used for these hideous crimes this past week.)
Loved your reference to the dress code at the warehouse. I almost commented earlier about a black sequin dress Lili had on the other day. If she dresses this way in a warehouse during the day, what on earth does she wear at night?
I'm personally hoping Nuria survives and makes a plea with Daniel. She's really not a bad person and she has so much info on all of them.
Thanks also for clarifying the senator's weakness (i.e. why they're blackmailing him). The subtitles said he was with a minor so I was thinking he should pay the price, but if it's just a matter of preferences then the poor thing sold his soul just to protect him image.
Aficionada, didn't mean to scare you about the alerts. Since a lot of people receive social media alerts I wasn't sure if it's the same with blogs. I hadn't noticed your late night posts, however unless I suddenly master writing recaps in an hour (my goal), I'm sure I'll post the next few after midnight.
El Senor, love your anvil ideas. I still think Ignacio should divorce her and remarry a wonderful woman that everyone loves. And if Nuria's not in jail, I'm sure she'll have no problem returning to the streets.
spanish student
Just reread my comment about the senator and want to clarify. I get that the senator wants to protect his image, family, and even his legacy. But you don't make that far by being a wuss. Plus even the bellboy commented that he shouldn't be messed with. I expected him to call "his people" so that Diablo would have an unexpected enemy. Yet he comes off as frightened and powerless.
spanish student
Aficionada, ah, yes, sorry for jumping the gun (you should excuse the expression). Your point about Lily is excellent. Even though Danny couldn't arrest her because he is a wanted man himself, he could have called on the amigos or have gotten Alejandro involved. (I guess the only thing stopping him was the need to have a major villainess stomping her tacones through several more episodes.)
El Señor EC, glad I could help. Hey, those anvils are pretty, um, pointed.
My pleasure, spanish student!
Personally, I'm not on the Go Easy on Nuria bandwagon. I still remember when she wanted to SELL Roxy to some traffickers in Tijuana rather than return her for a ransom payment, an idea that shocked even scum of the earth Roque. She has always been as nasty as the rest of them, just not as well armed or as well trained in martial arts.
Yes, it was Pablo who warned Rad about the "La ley del Talion."
"I almost commented earlier about a black sequin dress Lili had on the other day. If she dresses this way in a warehouse during the day, what on earth does she wear at night?"
I'm fascinated by the wardrobe choices in this novela. They don't always work, obviously, but they go a long way toward defining the characters and crafting our reactions to them.
Another great recap, Hombre. Many thanks.
I too was thinking that the cops would discover Victor Manuel, and that perhaps he'd be dead. That might account for the fact that many of the cops seemed overwhelmed with the stench, but I guess it was just from phony perfume?? Still, the response by the cops seemed too strong for that to be what they were smelling.
Vero is driving me nuts. Did someone perform a lobotomy on her? She never seems to have given much thought to how the rose and the note got into the house, not even after Iggy tells her he can come and go as he pleases. And although that statement bothers her, it doesn't seem to trouble her for long. If I were in such a situation...but I guess that's not relevant, since I still have a working brain. And more and more, Lu seems to have inherited her mother's inability to put 2 and 2 together. How can she continue to go out with Chad the Cad? Yes, she's young, and he's probably her First Love, but still....
I wonder how long it will take before Anas realizes that Elias is the snitch. I was amused by his being the one to reinforce Anas' statement about the importance of loyalty.
I can't think of any other telenovela I've watched where I had such a hard time finding characters to root for.
NvMv, you're absolutely right about Nuria. I'd completely forgotten about her plans to sell Roxy. For that alone she should at least serve some time. Not to mention the horrible company she keeps.
spanish student
Gracias Hombre
I don't think I could ever watch Juan Pablo Llano w/o thinking of Iggy. He is playing the disgusting creep to perfection.
NovelaMaven "Personally, I'm not on the Go Easy on Nuria bandwagon." The problem is that jail is not an option. She has been in jail already. And apparently, people break out of jail regularly in Mexico. But death seems a bit harsh. If she is sold to someone in Tijuana, someone who doesn't care about her, she won't have the freedom she has had with Rockie and Gaston and El Diablo.

Adriana Noel- Andrea's behaviour towards samuel is just confusing. Is it normal to be in love with a guy but then take every chance to insult, belittle and push him away? The last scene where Leo kissed Cayetana disgusted me! My mouth was open in shock, knew it was bound to happen but still disgusting. I can't imagine a mum kissing her daughter's ex-husband .
I love novelas but I usually can't wait for the bad guys to get theirs (on pins and needles for 100+ episodes). Things are about to get interesting.

Thank you SO MUCH for the great recap of Monday's episode. I meant to thank you yesterday but got busy.
I was very disappointed when I thought Nestor was dead
last night- should have thought of the bpvest. I still have
hope for Cayetana and him. However, my feelings are
being complicated by an increased liking for his current
girlfriend.
hovering to take advantage of her vulnerability. My
feelings about Cayetana keep vascillating. She's not all
bad.
Anon- I agree about Cayetana not being all bad but too set in her ways and vulnerable. I like Bridgette but after reporting Flavio to Cayetana not so much. She and the other reporter overheard Falvio and Iriana on the phone and will probably tell Cayetana about Irina's new waitress job.
I hope Cayetana ends up with Nestor. Andrea still doesn't do anything for me. What is hoping to gain by having Miranda invite Vero's fiancee from London? Isn't Pablo like a big brother to her? I liked her when she was drunk and being silly.

spanish student : "(This actor has been more than generous in allowing his body to be used for these hideous crimes this past week.)" I couldn't agree more about Radamés (Javier Díaz Dueñas). Such professionalism!.
NvMvInteresting your comment about the wardrobe choices. Yes, they are quite cliché in a (forgivable) telenovela sort of way, but as such, they are iconic and, as you said, "go a long way toward defining the characters and crafting our reactions to them."
The "bandage" (or bondage) dresses favored by Lily & Nuria (and formerly by Elena) tell their own story. And I love how Sor Loser's habit is too big for her and doesn't quite fit around the face & neck. And Fernanda's slightly frumpy middle-class matron's attire that seems a little too small for her so that she's always got to yank her skirt down. And Octavio bonding with his little girl, all in pink, the both of them. And casual Ignacio, who despite a heart transplant continues to shuffle along in that witless, benevolent "grandpa" sweater. I also love how Roxana is at that uncomfortable age when girls are bigger & more filled out than boys their own age, but aren't wearing teen clothes yet. And Deya's idea of a professional wardrobe belongs at a luau. And Carlos' jackets are too short (for my taste; but that places him in my mind). And Lucha's strangely U-cut sweaters that emphasize her full-figure in that nurse costume. I'll stop, but you got me thinking. Oh, and the plaid-shirted henchmen in cowboy hats!
she's a "rat". Maybe I don't like her all that much better
after all.
LXV,
"And Octavio bonding with his little girl, all in pink, the both of them."
Yes, I was tempted to preface the recap like this: "This episode is brought to you by the color PINK."
I noticed a GREEN episode the other day when Lucha's sweater matched the checkered tablecloths in the cafeteria almost perfectly. (I can't recall the other concordances, but there were several.) Last night, she wore a pink sweater, Deya's dress had pink blossoms, and Octavio and mini-Vicky were a veritable cloud of pink.
El Señor EC, I like your suggestion for Nuria. (And she has to give back all her new mini-me dresses.)
NvMv : Ooh, thanks for the color idea! I wasn't picking up on that until the PINK, but now I'll be on the lookout.
Oh, and newmex1612, thanks for adding to the conversation. I'm aware there are lots of people out there who don't have the time or inclination to comment regularly, or at all. It's always great to hear another voice. Love the story about your students!

About the pervy senator; I agree with whoever said he wouldn't be where he is if he were a wuss. He managed to make himself look very senatorial as he warmed to the blandishments of Daniel's little pep talk about his finer attributes. Daniel played to his desperation. He'll have a tough row to hoe whichever way he chooses and it has nothing to do with nobility or honor, rather expediency and minimizing the damage to himself. I have no doubt he would have pulled that trigger; he's essentially a coward.
Frustrating that Vero can show signs of catching on, like when she shut down Sergio in front of Izzy, but still not tell Adan or someone about him. At least pack up Lu and get the heck out.
Kelly
ps. I got to verify that I'm not a robot by picking out the dogs in the photos. I like this new fuzzy-wuzzy format.
Thanks so much, Hombre. I can’t compliment you enough about your snappy recaps. You combine scenes so well and I can see the whole episode over again with your vivid descriptions!
What a jerk Chad is! Luciana just doesn’t get it. This guy has dragged her to parties and clubs where she gets insulted and he doesn’t even stick up for her. I hope, hope, hope he can’t talk his way out of the wad of cash, but I think she’s going to buy whatever he tells her. She’s definitely her mother’s daughter. Her behavior reminds me of Vero swallowing Iggy’s lies whole.
Yes, Gina isn’t going to be nominated mother of the year anytime soon. She lets those precious early months of her child’s life go and decides to get even with Anastasia. What could possibly go wrong?
That scene with Vero and Iggy by the pool was terrifying. On one level, it’s good she finally found out what he really is. Variopinta: I agree completely that Juan Pablo Llano is playing his villain role perfectly. Of course, he doesn’t plan to marry her as he said in that scene. But he does have a thing for her. Géraldine was terrific in the scene with Iggy as well.
Leandro told Iggy he had to be faithful to Paola after they married. Yeah, right. I’m hoping she doesn’t go through with it. After all, the deal was the nice picnic. And that didn’t happen. Speaking of the picnic, my theory about the rift between LQ and José Carlos is that the son is gay. I also thought LQ said my oldest son, but upon reflecting I think it would be my oldest child; i.e. I think Paola and José Carlos are the only children he has. Hijo is used as child as well.
I kind of think another actor would have been better as LQ. Varoni’s hamming it up doesn’t work for me. And he’s overdoing the Colombian accent. The actress playing Paola is doing a better job. And, of course, the actor playing Iggy is really Colombian so he has an advantage.
I don’t know why Anas can’t figure out Elias is the mole. He was incredibly nasty to her when he first appeared after Nat died.
Irene was once again proven right. Anas makes bad decisions about men. Renato had good advice that it was a bad move to go away when they were under suspicion. But she listens to Conrado now.
Érica seemed subdued and resigned to her fate. I hope this means she's not going to be self-destructive again. I really, really want her to character to get a decent man in her life later on in the novela. But I also know that being a porno actress probably precludes that.
LXV, after reading your comment I did a quick search of Javier Díaz Dueñas and was surprised to learn that he's the infamous "El Cabo" from Senior de los Cielos that so many people were inquiring about at the end of the tn.
Also, I had a chance to see the avance for tonight's show. I won't give anything away except to say it's probably a good thing that Elena hasn't processed her trauma "just yet". Hopefully she'll start her healing process soon, before Nacho returns.
spanish student
Iggy married???? I think he would with Paola but for power, & of course sex. But ANY half way decent looking woman or niña is prey for him.
If Vero would tell Adan the truth, Iggy could be dealt with, as in dead.
I see a lot more when I watch on the computer. In the picnic scene there was a racoon running behind
LQ as they were leaving.
I was prepared for the Leo Caye thing
I didn't watch PdG's when it was on tv, but when I found out Tierra was a remake of it I checked the DVD set out from the library and watched it real quick.
haven't decided if that was a good decision or not yet
some plot points are the same but some characters and plots are new
I can probably guess where they are going w/sidepiece and Arturo but it will still be fun to see what happens
haven't seen all of yesterday's ep yet will
be back when I do
Great comments, all!!
NovelaMaven: I did forget Dan couldn't arrest Lily himself, thank you for that! Really does come down to this: "(I guess the only thing stopping him was the need to have a major villainess stomping her tacones through several more episodes.)" lol
spanish student: I exaggerated how scared I was. Sorry about that. Still, I wouldn't want to be waking people, so it is good to know. Thank you!
El Señor EC: You are so right: "Not more so than Radames' rape of Helena." I didn't comment on that, but I did turn it off. Both went too far.
GREAT, about the colors!
I have always, from early on, had a dream Nuria would die saving the niece she so abused. Could still happen? Pro'ly not, ah.
Always rushing ... ay.

Hombre, thanks a bunch. I didn’t hit a high note on comprehension last night and your recap answered all my questions.
I had no idea Iggy displayed a tape recorder, not a gun. Thank goodness he’s not too smart in wooing Vero. He said something about her wanting Adán in prison so they could be together, scaring her even more. Funny that the nurse watching Vero and Iggy arguing at the hospital was smiling at Iggy, no doubt thinking "what a hunk!"
Oh-no, Gina thinks she’s smarter than she is. She should’ve taken the baby and hightailed it out of town.
Vero mentioned getting a gun before. Now that Iggy threatened her daughter, I can’t see her doing nothing.
Anas is no Teresa. Come on, which of your employees hated you just the day before yesterday?
Gina or Beatriz González tells Leandro Quezada that she wants to join forces with him to bring down Anastasia. He listens to her in between lecherous looks. She tells him that Anas is investing in pornos, and that there will be a premiere soon of the first one.
Ferrara bitches and moans to Riquelme that he has no proof that Anas is in the drug trade. His searches turned up nothing.
Silvana comes to the police station and tells Riquelme that she’s worried about Elias. They almost have a little connection, it seemed to me. Later Riquelme tells Ferrara why Silvana came to the station: She saw Elias getting into a police car.
Adán and Vero come home to find Luciana and Delia watching the news. Later Lu bursts in crying to tell them the news about the death of Elvis Presley.
[Wow, that’s such a vivid memory for me. I left work in my 1973 Toyota Celica to have lunch. I heard the news about his death on the radio and was just horribly sad. I had to pull off to the side of the road. I was a big Elvis fan as a child. I loved and still love his music. His movies were awful, but you couldn’t take your eyes off him. I just felt it was so sad he’d ended up that way when he had so much to offer.]
Anas talks to Modesta and says that she really misses the baby. Conrado suggests that she try to adopt him. He tells her she’d be the best mother in the world. [Come on, Conrado, you’re pouring it on too thick.] When they go back to the room we see that someone is watching them.
Silvana comes to Gloria’s house to try to see the baby, but Gloria won’t let her. We hear Rodrigo crying in the other room. I thought maybe Gina was in the other room, but I guess Gloria was just being contrary.
Vero surprises me by telling Adán the truth about Iggy. At first he doesn’t believe what she’s saying, but he finally does. She tells him about the guy getting into their house.
Ferrara meets Ellias at the port. He warns him about what would happen if Anastasia found out he was spying. [When Ferrara first arrived, he put his foot up on a piling, and I thought he was going for an ankle-strapped gun to blow Elias away!]
José Carlos tells Marina he’s going to follow through with his plan. We see him in a taxi and that he has a gun in the place guys always put them in telenovelas, in the waistband of their pants, in the back. When he arrives at Casa Quezada, Paola is so happy. She takes him in to see her father. Iggy is there too. LQ gives him a big hug and grins happily, saying it’s been such a long time!
When Adán arrives at Casa Cardona, before he can tell him the whole story, Renato gets a phone call. It’s the guy who’s watching Anas. Apparently he works for Renato. The guy says: “What’s going on, Maldonado, who do you want to get rid of? Your boss or the guy sleeping with her?” Renato doesn’t answer.
Leandro has asked Paola and Iggy to leave him alone with José Carlos. LQ gives him a menacing look and tells him he hasn’t kept the promise he made. JC: “What promise? You forced me to leave.” LQ slaps him hard, knocking him off his feet. LQ goes on to say that he gave an Oscar-worthy performance in front of Paola. Then he tells JC that he hates him. JC: “I’m sorry.” Varoni then launches into some serious overacting. First he tells JC that it disgusts him to say that his blood runs through JC’s veins. JC pulls the gun he brought in, points it at LQ and says this is for his mother. Paola and Iggy hear the shot.
But no one is shot. José Carlos: “I know your methods. You did the same with mama”. [LQ calls him pecueca several times, and I discovered this is a Colombian insult saying a person is like stinky feet.]
LQ tells him he’s not part of the family and that he’s always hated him, even when he was little. José Carlos screams: “Why?” LQ tells him no one gets to raise his voice in his house except him. He points the gun at JC’s privates, his favorite thing to do [except seduce pretty doctors]. LQ tells José that he’s not his child. The whole thing is his wife’s fault. She kept him from saying anything. He says that JC was brought to live with them from another hacienda at one year of age. LQ never felt anything for him. In fact, he cared more for the German Shepherd on the hacienda than he cared for JC.
José Carlos loses it and calls him perro asqueroso and gets punched for that. He gets up with a bloody nose. LQ tells him he’s going to walk out of there was if nothing happened. While JC stares at him with a death stare, LQ says that what happened 5 years ago on Christmas Eve never happened. It never happened at all.
OK, I’m prepared to believe LQ about hating JC because his wife insisted on adopting him. But why did he rant earlier in the show about hating the thought that his blood ran through JC’s veins? I’m not sure what’s true here.
thanks so much novelera,
the local station frizzed out half way through,
your wonderful recaps and the way you help everyone,
is what brought me to caray, caray.
I was thinking Leandro was pushing Gina for a reason to believe her when she spilled on the porno films, as to why she hates Anas, so will we see Leandro at the red carpet premier of "Sugar Lips"?
I was enjoying Silvana, looking sharp in those shades and her retro look, and Mauricio set her up in the interrogation room for their chat, which she made some crack about, and later when she asked about the baby, that she missed him, did Mauicio say she should have one of her own, an awkward moment,
I better go, did she say.
wiki says Elvis died August 16, 1977.
and Vero reminds Adan he that he died from drugs, ha!
I don't know why Salvador and Elias needed to meet, they didn't say much, but when Salvador made the call from a remote pay phone, station wagon Saul was following him, didn't see him at the meet though.
wow, waking up to the national anthem before the tv station drops off the air, been there before, what did Adan ask Chad to do?
clever of JC to have Paola meet him at the door, so he could get his gun past the guards.
and what is JC's relationship to Marina?
I'm thinking Renato is looking out for his Patrona, his cool exterior is not showing the cracks, love Tony Dalton. (if you didn't see Flor Salvaje, he was a VERY bad guy and the leading lady fell in love with him)
Haven't seen last night's epy, yet, so maybe some of my comments won't make sense, but I'll try to come back after I watch.
I don't get Andrea's behavior either. She is clearly smitten with Samuel, but when she actually had the chance to get close to him (the day after, when she was sober), she had to put on her mask and whine yet again. She has a truly rotten personality, I guess.
For the life of me, I don't understand why she's interfering in Pablo and Vero's relationship. I'm starting to think that she's jealous of everyone who dares to fight for love because she can't bring herself to do it, no matter how high and mighty she pretends to be. Bottom line, she's a coward who's hiding behind the del Junco name. Also, she's sure that Sam would never look at her, so it's easier for her to scream at him - if she ever thought that she stood a chance with him, I think she would change her tune rather fast.
The way I see Bridgitte, she's the type of character who only serves a plot point. She's a gossip and she likes to meddle, but she's pretty harmless when it comes to it.
Cayetana is not all bad and I think she will have her redeeming moment after she disgusts us all with her Leonardo luvv fest. If it weren't for his very bad influence, she would have probably come around by now and been part of Sofia's celebration. She loves them, but Leo's spell is too powerful right now, she's letting her hormones and her pride do all the thinking, instead of searching deeper within her heart.
Don't fret, I am working on the recap. My source did not post the videos until 7 this morning. So I am only now watching the episode.
-El Señor EC
Just saw the last episode.
OMG!!!
This is a must watch show for the last 3 seconds! Cayetana and Leo visit teh Gallardo home before selling it and find Arturo, Flavio and Sam's names written on a pole. They immediately realize that they are Alma's brothers.
BANG!
Tks so much Novelera
Possibly LQ boinked the neighbor & his blood really does run through JCs veins.
I felt before that Renato didn't like Conrado very much. Didn't he call him an imbecile to Anas right before she sad she loved Conrado.
Thanks for the updates! I'm traveling for a few weeks and have no access to the show so I have nothing to add, but I don't want to miss out on the action.
GAG. Leo and Caye? I knew it was coming but YUCK. Her former son-in-law! Who has raped her daughter! So so so wrong.
Andrea is aggravating. She might have a hint of redeemability, and I like Adriana Noel's analysis of her behavior, but to my mind if you love someone you don't treat them that way. After all her abuse, only telenovela lala magic is going to get them to happily ever after.
Thanks, Novelera. Terrific recap. I so appreciate the dialogue
between LQ and José Carlos.
I’m thinking Silvana is working Mauricio for info only but not into him. Odd that she would go to him though. I thought she’d figured out that Elias was working with the police to take down Anas. So why let on that she blew her brother's cover?
Vero is naïve, coming from a conservative family, marrying young, and living a protected life up to now. But once she added 2 + 2, especially Iggy saying he'd been in Lu's bedroom, I figured she would act. Smart of Adán to go directly to Renato for help.
Deb, Adán asked Chad to stay at the house while he went out and not to answer the door for anyone. Basically, to look after his family.
Normally I’m annoyed when a new character is suddenly introduced and Viewerville is expected to care about him, but I am caught up in José Carlos’ story. Seems like LQ did something mal concerning the mother. Clearly Paola doesn’t know.

La Bodega
They are listening to music del norte. Nuria complains that Lilliana is drinking all the liquor and not leaving any for others. And no one can go out to buy more because they are all in hiding. Well Nuria isn't going out because her feet hurt. Lopez jumps at the opportunity to massage her feet. Genaro goes to bed, Lilliana lies down on the couch to rest a bit. Vidal salivates over her. Nuria and Lopez go off to another bed for some action. Vidal continues to produce more saliva.
The Penthouse
Lucia returns home to a drunk Olegario. She does not want to argue, but he wants to argue. Does she ever plan to do anything with him? He is tired of waiting. She says she is a nurse who is very dedicated to her work. He doesn't give a f*ck about her work. She is his wife and he wants her with him.
La Bodega
Vidal decides to take advantage of Lilliana while she is a sleep. He caresses her shoulders, all the while drooling. When he gets up to undo his belt, she pulls her gun. Bang! Bang, bang, bang! Bang! Estúpido! So much for choking on his spittle.

Adriana Noel- Last night's episode was so good. Tonight's is going to be soo good.
The DNA is positive, the brothers are excited that Vero is their half-sister. Bridgette had her reporter friends confirm Irina's new job and told Cayetana who freaked out.
We got the back ground story of how Leo met the Del Juncos. We see he was infatuated with Cayetana from day 1. Is Leo the one who raped Sofia in the beginning or did he just save her? or did he hire the person who raped her?

Capítulo 106, parte 5 de 5
La Bodega
Lopez flees the scene before even putting on his pants. Nuria whines that her boyfriend left. Lilliana threatens to shoot her if she doesn't shut up.
The Penthouse
Olegario continues to complain about Lucia working when she doesn't have to. Lucia does a good job of pretending she doesn't know Rafael is really Olegario. He tries to stop her from going to her room. He wants her to listen to him. He had a really bad day and needs her to be there. She goes to her room. He begs for her forgiveness thru the door. He loves her and would never hurt her. Lucia knows she has power over him.
La Casa Duran
Consuelo tells Pablo that Helena is really hurting and it will take time before she is ready to see him. Pablo says he will come everyday until she is ready. He receives a call that Radames is between life and death.
La Bodega
Genaro returns to find bloody Vidal on the floor. Lilliana does not want to help move the body, so Nuria has to do it.
AFIAD, holding cell
Alejandro comes to tell Daniel about Radames. Daniel tells him this is the work of Olegario. Alejandro still does not believe Olegario is still alive. If that were true, it would mean that he killed his own brother. Daniel says Olegario could kill his own mother. Rafael does not exist and Olegario needs to be unmasked.
Lopez's apartment
Lopez enters hurriedly searching for something. Marisela comes in (by herself?) with her gun drawn. She already has what his is looking for. She says she knows it will be easy to take him. He tries to disarm her.
La Casa Duran, Helena's room
Consuelo tells Helena that Radames is dying. Helena does not react. This bothers Consuelo. She thinks that news that her ex-husband and father of her child is dying should cause some reaction. Helena says this is fine. She just wants to be left alone.
Lopez's apartment
Maricela prevails over Lopez and handcuffs him.
AFIAD, holding cell
Alejandro comes to tell Daniel that they have Lopez in custody. Daniel wants to interrogate him. Alejandro says this would be very irregular. Daniel insists that he knows Lopez very well (but didn't know he was Genaro's nephew).
The Penthouse, Lucia's room
Lucia is packing the toys for the kids when Rosa enters with her breakfast. She asks why Lucia doesn't wait to have breakfast with Rafael, because he gets very angry that he has to eat alone. Lucia says she has to be at her job for her shift. Lucia asks her to let her know about anything she notices about Rafael.
AFIAD, interrogation room
Lopez tries to tell Daniel that he can't do the interrogation. Daniel tells him that things are already bad for him, so he should just confess that he kill Anselmo.
The End.
-El Señor EC
Thank you for a wonderful recap, El Señor EC.
Sour Marina Yes!
Helena comes in and nearly bites Abel's head off, because she is fine and wants to be left in peace.
Pablo comes to pay her a visit. She does not want to talk to him. She is fine.
I love your understated wit, Señor. Yes, Elena is just fine.
Bang! Bang, bang, bang! Bang! Estúpido! So much for choking on his spittle.
Excellent -- you even got the precise number of bangs! (And I enjoyed your mini spit motif too.)
Not that it matters, but -- Lily tells Genaro he can share her bed if he goes out to get more booze. He goes, apparently deciding the prize is worth the risk.
Gracias El Señor EC, I'm loving your dry wit: "Carlos thinks this is a case for Marina." I wouldn't wish that sourpuss on anyone, particularly in a case involving women's relations with men.
"(How is it that everyone just happens to be watching tv when some important event happens?) " —It's in the Telenovela Rulebook.
Elena was good in that infirmary scene. "Welcome to my hell," indeed. Radamés got off easy if you ask me. How many times was Elena raped and brutalized and threatened with death?
Vidal & the saliva: that was funny. Scary funny...for him.
Love Marisela's move to disarm Lopez. I was cheering.
Thanks for the careful detail; there were a few points I missed during the broadcast. I so appreciate not being left in the dark about plot points that go over my head.
Excellent recap, El Senor!
“Sour” Marina? Very true.
“Welcome to my hell.” I was so glad Elena wasn’t in a forgiving mood with Rad. He was more concerned with his pain than what he put her through. Plus what else would he do if he was freed other than return to Diablo's crew. After being discredited no one else will have him.
"He is going to choke on his spittle." Adios Vidal. Can’t hate Lili for this one. (This scene was almost identical to her videotaped assassination...pretty much releasing all the bullets, and probably her fury, at the same time.)

NovelaMaven: "Lily tells Genaro he can share her bed if he goes out to get more booze." I knew I had something wrong when he returned. I didn't understand what Lilliana told him.
LXV: "It's in the Telenovela Rulebook." I need a copy of that book. These people NEVER watch TV, except when something important and UNEXPECTED is on the news.
Great recap, Novelera! I also thought Silvana and Riquelme felt an attraction, and we'll see them together more in the future. I don't think Riquelme knows that Elias is meeting with Ferrara, I think only Ferrara knows. Silvana doesn't want her brother to get hurt, but Riquelme couldn't do anything, since he doesn't even know about the set up. I think.
I'm almost sure Gina was in the back room with the baby, that's why Gloria was so insistent that Silvana not come in.
I was surprised that everybody was so upset about Elvis's death, even teenaged Lu. I was 26 in 1977, and thought Elvis to be very old-fashioned, nothing like the music that was popular at the time. I did actually see him live in 1976, though, I was working as a rehab therapist in a mental hospital, and I took one moderately crazy patient, who's life's dream was to see Elvis, to the show in the Capital Centre in Maryland, with about 15,000 in attendance. The performance was electric, and many women rushed the stage, trying to get a towel soaked with Elvis's sweat. Of course all these women were in their 40's, but it was a memorable night.
Variopinta, I like your idea that José Carlos could be LQ’s child, but from a relationship with a neighbor.
Deb, thanks for the kind words. And thanks also for the added details. Yes, both Vero and Delia mentioned that Elvis died because of drugs. I just read recently that it really was a heart attack. But it was doubtless brought on by the extreme use of prescription drugs. What is wrong with these celebrity doctors anyway? The same thing happened with Michael Jackson.
Niecie, thanks for the detail about Adán asking Chad to watch over his girls. But I don’t think Chad would have stood much of a chance if Iggy had shown up!
I also care about José Carlos. Gabriel Valenzuela did a really good job portraying the pain of a rejected son. LQ certainly didn’t kill his wife on Christmas Eve, because JC said something about having talked to his mother since he was forced to leave the country.
El Señor EC : AND, they're all watching the same broadcast at exactly the same moment. It's a given, I don't even scratch my head over that one anymore. thanks again for a terrific recap. I just re-read to relive last nights episode. This show is pretty darn excellent (The Rulebook notwithstanding).
thanks so much -El Señor EC,
you are very good at telling it like it is!
so didn't Pablo rush off to see Radamés to get his dying words against the cartel that tried to kill him.
hmm, a bit of trivia, I seem to remember that when Genaro bought their hole-in-the-wall hideout he put it in Nuria's name.
deb : Wow, that IS trivia; I think you are right! As NvMv said the other day, there's plenty of plot to go around.
And, Rad wasn't dead yet, so let's see what Pab can get out of him. I am so impressed with that actor. He's been given such an ugly character to play; they should give him hazard pay for what he's put himself through. Or an Oscar!
Julia, I LOL -ed at your telenovela lala magic. So true - nobody in their right mind would fall for someone as Andrea after she treats you that way. But look at who we're talking about : Sam refused the admitedly older but still very hot (and loaded ) Nena for the likes of trashy cantante Patricia who was a certified hooker when they met and he very well knew about it.
LXV- I think you would enjoy "La Patrona" where Javier Díaz Dueñas (Radamés) played Aracely Arámbula's very honorable father.
according to wiki, "the Bible" which premiers March 25 on Telemundo, is a 10 hour mini series that originally showed in 2013, Of interest is that the sequel "A.D.: The Bible Continues" will premiere on NBC, Easter day.
Julia- Wednesday show ended with Cayetana falling under Leonardo's spell with a kiss, Thursday show began with her pulling away in disgust.
Isadora has come to Nena's ranch to talk to Arturo about buying cows for their soon to be acquired Gallardo ranch, alerting to boys to the sale.
Cayetana and Leo visit the vacant Gallardo ranch before the sale where they see a pole where the younger boys have marked their height with their names, Samuel, Flavio, and Arturo.
Falvio gets the DNA results on Veronica confirming that she is their sister.
Irina grabs the keys to the armoire on her quest to find out the boys secret.
Nestor is investigating Ignacio's death as a homicide and Valverde has ordered his death to stop him, but he was wearing a bullet proof vest on a stay-at-home date with Briggite when he took two shots.
Elvis is my heyday but I wasn't much of a fan.
From what I understand, he died very un-romantically on the toilet.
More thoughts on LQ & JC. If JC is a result of a LQ neighbor affair, maybe LQs wife found out, there was a confrontation & either he killed her or she died from a heart attack.
Thanks, novelera, for another terrific recap. I needed it for all conversations involving LQ, and I also apparently missed what the guy watching Anas and Conrado said to Renato.
I was somewhat puzzled by the conversation between Gina and LQ. Why would either of them care that Anas was subsidizing porno films? How would that be a motive for Gina's hating Anas, and why would LQ care?
Another thing that puzzled me was why Silvana told Ferrara about having seen Elias get into a police car.
I would have thought that Adán would have waited until the morning to seek help from Renato. What could Chad have done by himself if Iggy returned while Adán was away?
There were a couple of things we didn't see, but that doesn't prove that they didn't happen. One was the presence of Gina in the house when Silvana came to Gloria's to see the baby. I'm still not convinced that Gina wasn't there. The other concerned Saúl. We saw him watch as Ferrara made a call from a pay phone. That almost surely told Saúl that something was up, and since he was in his car and had nothing special to do, wouldn't he have continued to watch Ferrara and follow him? We didn't see Saúl's car when Ferrara met Elias, but that doesn't mean Saúl wasn't watching. (Of course, one argument against that is that Telemundo is usually quite overt, visually and/or via the background music, not leaving much in doubt. Still....)
I like Variopinta's explanation of why LQ rejects Jose Carlos while still admitting that JC has Quezada blood in his veins. I must say, though, that I found the whole scene between LQ and JC quite bizarre. And did Paola or Iggy ask about the gunshot that they and we heard?
Variopinta, I see you posted another message about LQ and JC while I was writing mine. In my post, I was referring to your earlier suggestion that LQ boinked the neighbor.
It's not clear to me what JC knows and doesn't know, but he does seem to hold LQ responsible for his mother's death.
Right Juanita, the gunshot is not explained, no one is dead or bloody.
As to the porno movies, it could just be a way of locating Anas & killing her.
I agree with those that have said Miguel Varoni is overdoing the acting.
He was wonderful in Ladron que roba a ladron.
Juanita, I think Gina was telling LQ about the porno movies as just sort of a dog treat for him, to keep him interested in what she could offer. Plus, as Variopinta opined, LQ could plan to kill her at the premiere. I don't know why someone who's using porn films as a way to launder money would show up at the premiere, but I don't doubt Telemundo would go there.
And Silvana didn't tell Ferrara about seeing her brother get into a police car. She told Riquelme who right away told Ferrara, causing him to seek out and warn Elias. He's probably right to warn him; Silvana is the least discreet person in Miami!
I suppose those of you who think Gina was with the baby at Gloria's are right. But usually in telenovelas when someone's hiding in another room, they do a pan to them with the camera to let the audience know someone is trying not to be seen.
Wow, Hombre, you saw Elvis live! I never did. But my favorite performance is the 1968 "comeback" TV special. He was slender and in black leather. Looked fabulous.
Thanks everyone for your kind comments on my recap.
Deb: "I seem to remember that when Genaro bought their hole-in-the-wall hideout he put it in Nuria's name." Yes, they did do a number of things in her name. I guess that's why they keep her alive.
LXV: "Radamés got off easy if you ask me." Well, he's not dead yet. And they're stretching this thing out for another 2.5 weeks.
-El Señor Ec
but I wanted to comment at least
I have a bit of a different perspective on Andrea - her whole identity is so wrapped up in being the good daughter she doesn't know how to be anything else. She blames the Reyes for breaking up her family, she probably hoped she and her sisters would stay on the ranch all their lives and now everything is ruined, she even said now they seem like anything but a family. She's bought in to her mom's rich vs poor world view and I think she really believes the Reyes will make her sisters miserable in the long run. I'm disappointed in her plan to bring Vero's fiancee but I think maybe she's trying to help her not make a terrible mistake and after all she's not denying anyone else anything she's not denying herself.
Oh I did it again
previous comment was for Tierra de Reyes
I will get the hang of this
eventually
(see, I can remember)
one of the things I love about this show is the things people call each other its so fun and funny
for example
Cayetana calls Arturo esta persona but with a face and voice that you know she wants to call him other unmentionable things
Leo keeps calling the boys albaniles = masons or bricklayers when its perfectly obvious that's the one thing they are not
Dario calls Flavio un cavernicula = a caveman and it fits perfectly so its caught on with the girls
recently he's been calling him a primate but I'm not sure that's a step up
Abuelo gets so mad when people forget to call him general and Leo does it on purpose.
pt 1
forgive me I have a problem remembering names
Tuesday brief recap
Nestor's gf has video of the fight between Leo & Ignacio that Caye denied happened
Flavio does something sweet for Dario; he asks Bea to be lenient because Dario's behind on pymts to Bea's bank and needs some "flexibility" Bea does something even sweeter; going to the spa and buying memberships for herself and all her employees at the bank
Dario is almost speechless with gratitude
Andrea has hand me downs for Nieves and she is so pathetically grateful that I almost miss the point that these are hush hand-me-downs so Nieves won't tell anyone about the photo of Sam
Sophia really needs to start asking who is it before answering the door but this time its probably ok since its her mom w/a b-day present - baby booties originally meant for Sophia's brother who died - they have a nice chat which I can't help but think is really Caye putting her plan to work to get Sophia back from Art
Sidepiece(It's good she has this nickname because I can't remember her name) goes to Art to try to convince him to convince Bea to sell her the ranch. (as if)
Vero is with Pablo K. I. S. S. I. N. G. and gets caught by Andrea, who isn't sympathetic. Vero goes to Sole who offers comfort and a shoulder to cry on (the look on Sole's face as she hugged her daughter was without words)
pt 2
this is probably the last recap I'll have time to do this week
Wednesday
Nestor goes to tell Caye the case of her husband's death has been re-opened because of the sabotage video, and asks pointedly if there is anything she wants to tell him.
Of course there isn't
Dario's tia (again the name eludes me) goes to the spa to offer him 1/2 his inheritance to fire Flavio - because Dario has other resources (Flavio supporting Vero and Bea) he refuses to be bought
Andrea sits in her room remembering what Sam told her the last time she saw him (in the hotel room) and asks his photo why he did it if he doesn't even like her. She's crying, and Sole comes in and offers comfort (I think 2/3 of Sole's job is just comforting people)
Caye and Leo convo about her visit to Sophia. Caye wants to be in her grandson's life. Leo tries to convince her the girls will get over their Reye phase. For the first time Caye seems unconvinced by his arguments. She brings up Nestor's visit and the re-opening of the case. Leo tries to convince her to stop the investigation and tries to warn her about what could be turned up - about him-
Leo's just not having any luck w/her today.
pt 3
Still Wednesday
Nestor and his 2nd discuss the case and Caye's possible involvement w/Leo and Nestor's weakness for Caye, which he denies absolutely - 'If I have to arrest her I'd do it without blinking an eye'
Vero's mom and Andrea are thick as thieves - Andrea suggests mom invite Vero's novio (I think he's a count or something)
Pablo and Vero discuss their encounter w/Andrea and the little time their relationship has left (do they know about the novio coming or what?)
The boys convo about Sam and Andrea's big night - the other two rib Sam about it.
Andrea and bf talk about her lack of interest in having sex with him - she tries to convince him that its because she's not that kind of girl. He doesn't seem convinced
Pati y Sam have had a huge fight Tues about his night w/Andrea. Pati won't believe nothing happend and kicks him out. As Sam is packing, Pati comes in and asks why he is leaving, why he won't fight for (with) her. Sam is tired of fighting. Pati does the tired old 'if you walk out that door you'll never see me again' thing. Sam asks what happens if he stays and Pati replies that her life has always been lived on the edge, and she's fallen many times, till he came along.
Sam responds to the emotional blackmail & stays (though he doesn't look too happy about it and doesn't sleep as well w/Pati as w/Andrea)
Caye and her father have a nice talk (w/poetry which I'm not even going to try to translate, sorry) Caye tells him about the airplane sabotage and he supports her making the first steps to reconcile with her daughters.
Arturo, Flavio y Irina greet Sophia on her b-day w/shouts and a loud rendition of las mananitas (not what I's want first thing in the morning, but I'm not Sophia) Sophia is thrilled and oh hey the baby's going to be named Arturo (won't that be confusing? Oh wait, the baby can be Arturo Reye and the father will be Arturo Gallardo)
Leo meets w/Valverde and they trade verbal jabs. Leo tells Valverde about the re-opening of the case; Valverde is livid. And sick of hero cops. They plot to get rid of Nestor or the evidence or both. (somthing about Valverde I have a difficult time comprehending his scenes)
Back at El Palenque Candela tries to explain to Pati how it was with the fake engagement but Pati is green w/jealousy over Matamoros talking to Sidepiece & doesn't care. (How many people can this girl be jealous about at a time?)
Somehow Matamoros convinces Pati to let him put a blindfold on her and he takes her to her old apt - apparently going to give it back to her. He's begging for another chance with her when armed men burst into the apt demanding the briefcase he just put in the safe. Gunpoint yelling and a beating for Matamoros ensue, but the leader of the assailants gets a call and they leave.
Nestor & his gf are having a romantic evening - persistently interrupted by a red laser sight- shots follow. Thank goodness Nestor was wearing a bullet-proof vest (he must have been a boy scout) and his 2nd is on the scene pronto
- Was the bullet meant for Nestor, or the gf? CSI stuff ensues.
Sophia gets a birthday party w/mariachis Sam shows up looking spiffy w/a present (why are all of Sophia's b-day prezzies for the baby?) and Andrea brings the cake - happy sister reunion
Meanwhile, Caye sits at home alone with a glass listening to the same song as the mariachis are playing - apparently its the family b-day song
Leo shows up and offers comforts and totes inappropes kisses.
end
Thanks, novelera, for your response. I didn't mean to write that Silvana told Ferrara. I guess I was picturing the scene with Elias and Ferrara that Silvana saw and wrote Ferrara rather than Riquelme (Ferrara is also easier to spell :-) ). However, my question still stands--why should she go to the police to say she's worried about the fact that her brother got into a police car?
Whoa!!! What a great surprise to find your wonderful,
lengthy recap. I wasn't expecting that. I REALLY love
this program, my favorite of the three. The four couples
are so cute together. Now it's getting so good that I can't
wait for the next episode. I guess the big revelation will
be made on Monday.I hope Andrea joins forces with
her sisters against Cayetana, but probably the girls will
turn against the guys at least temporarily.
Thank you SO much.
Capitulo 107 - Parte 1 / 2
AFAID, interrogation room
Dan accuses Lopez of killing Anselmo and framing Dan for the murder. Lopez plays hard and refuses to admit any wrongdoing.
Unknown field
Vidal’s body is discovered in a field by a man looking for trash.
Misericordia, Carlos’ office
Marina asks Elena if she’d be willing to help her with a study she’s doing on battered women. She explains to Elena that her public confession about Radames’ abuse inspired a lot of women to take the first step. She wants Elena to share her experience or at least allow herself to vent her frustrations to Marina. Elena, who refuses to let down her guard for anyone, says she’s tired of everyone thinking she’s “sick” and she doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Marina lets her know that she doesn’t think she’s “sick” and that her door is always open in case Elena changes her mind. When Marina leaves, Elena wonders aloud “Por que es tan dificil que me dejan in paz?” (Maybe it’s because it’s so obvious you’re not at peace.)
Misericordia, Gonzalo’s office
Sor. Milagros visits Gonzalo who’s pretending to be okay. She tells him that a lot of people are concerned about him and suspects something’s wrong. He evades the issue until she admits to seeing his test results…she knows he has Parkinson’s. He sighs and finally admits he doesn’t know what to do. They embrace. (After the scene with Elena it was nice to see someone admit they’re not okay.)
AFAID, interrogation room
Dan’s getting nowhere with Lopez until Alejandro appears with a photo of Vidal’s dead body. Dan knows they fled together and asks Lopez if he murdered his mentor. Lopez denies it and starts to weaken. Dan warns him that the same thing can happen to him…and it has already happened to Radames who is fighting for his life after being raped, etc. That’s all he needed to hear before finally confessing, “Yo mate a Anselmo. Tu eres inocente Daniel.”
Misericordia
Elena’s at her desk but her mind is on the rape. Carlos appears and shows her a “little” stuffed animal he purchased for his baby-to-be. She says she has to take care of something and rushes away. Carlos, happy with his purchase, runs into
Deya and her bf (sorry, I searched but couldn’t find his name). The bf has purchased a life size teddy bear for the baby. When Deya comments that it may be too big for her apartment, he says maybe they can get a larger apartment for the three of them. Carlos interrupts and orders him to stop buying gifts for “his son” and while you’re at it, to stop overfeeding Deya cuz “she’s going to look like a blimp”.
AFAID
Dan thanks Alejandro for helping him clear his name.

Capitulo 107 - Parte 2 / 4 (Sorry, this has 4 parts, not 2)
La Carcel, Hospital
Pablo and Evaristo stand over Radames discussing who’s behind his attack when Elena walks in dressed in black and accompanied by some dark and eerie music. Is she there to forgive Rad? No, she wants to see him die. That way she’ll be free to feel again.
Misericordia
Sor. Milagros tells Lucha that Gonzalo has Parkinson’s. Nurse Nancy interrupts to tell Lucha that Dan has been cleared of all charges. Marina overhears and inquires. Now Marina is happy too, but Lucha not so much. (If I recall, Lucha told her in a previous episode that once Dan is cleared, she (Marina) wouldn’t have to hide anymore and would be free to be with him. So perhaps the news is bittersweet.)
Outside the Penthouse or hotel?
Dan surprises Oleg by his car and warns him, “Now that I’m free, I’m going to be your shadow.” Oleg tells him not to mess with Lucha. Dan responds that soon he’ll put an end to him.
Misericordia
Carlos and the bf continue arguing over what the bf can/cannot do. The bf leaves and Deya accuses Carlos of being jealous.
La Carcel, Hospital
Elena asks Pablo if he ordered the hit on Rad. He says the North Cartel is probably responsible. Elena admits that she feels no mercy for him because he ripped out her soul. She says goodbye to Rad’s lifeless body. “May God forgive you…” She exits and Rad slowly turns towards the closing door. He’s still alive and has probably heard everything.
Warehouse
Genaro, Lili, and Nuria have already found out about Lopez and wonder if he’ll betray them. Genaro’s convinced that he won’t since he already knows that if he talks, he’s a dead man.
AFAID
Alejandro tells Lopez the only way he’ll be protected is if he admits that Genaro was his accomplice and tells him where the others are hiding. Lopez refuses, “If I tell you more, they’ll kill me.”
Misericordia
Marina is in Sor. Milagros’ office dressed in her regular attire. She thanks Sor. Milagros for everything and offers to volunteer twice a week. She says she now understands and appreciates their calling.

Capitulo 107 - Parte 3 / 4
Warehouse / Casa Duran
Nuria is wearing a dress so tight and short I’m still trying to figure out how the bottom managed to stay below her cheeks, especially when she got fed up with Genaro and Lili’s sex-less boredom and shuffled away. Lili is at the laptop trying to access her Cayman Island accounts but the codes are in some papers she has at her parent’s house. She actually calls home to ask her mom for a favor. Fernanda tells the "asesina" that the family's through with her, “Aqui nadie te quiere.” She’ll never forgive her for threatening her father’s life. Lili tries to sway her with guilt but Fernanda hangs up. Ignacio overhears and suddenly realizes how much Fernanda loves him. He doesn’t think he deserves such love. They embrace. (I guess she’s forgiven.)
Lili offers her “friendship” and a few expensive dresses to Nuria if she sneaks in La Casa Duran and steals the papers.
Dan’s Home
Chelo leaves Lil Vicky with Dan so she can go to work at the family restaurant.
Misericordia
Adriana and Abel bring Santi to the hospital for a checkup. When Adriana’s with the nurse, Lucha tells Abel that Gonzalo has Parkinson’s. Abel now understands why Gonzalo refused to operate and why he pushed him away.
Sor Milagros visits Carlos and introduces him to his new partner in the Department of Psychiatry – Marina. Carlos welcomes the opportunity to have more time for his private practice.
Casa Duran/Restaurant
Fernanda, Ignacio and Chelo are getting the new restaurant set up. Nuria sneaks into Lili’s old room and accidentally knocks something over while looking for the Cayman Island documents. Chelo hears the noise and thinks it’s a burglar. Nuria finds the papers and is patting herself on the back when she’s caught in the act. Nuria has never had a problem standing up to Chelo so she proudly states that she’s just doing a favor for her friend Lili. She calls Chelo “fatso” and knocks the knife out of her hand. They wrestle briefly before Nuria escapes with her purse, no papers, but her dress still intact. Chelo chases her out of the house and down the street with knife in hand. (I seem to recall these 2 having a fight over Chelo’s knives after Nuria moved in with Gaston.)

Misericordia, Gonzalo’s office
Abel stops by to see Gonzalo who’s still trying to save face and fake a boyfriend. Abel tells him that he already knows the truth and tries to show him that he’s there for him. Gonzalo says he lied because he didn’t want his pity, and he continues to push him away by refusing his friendship.

Diablo’s fuming over Ponce….the usual, he wants him dead. This time Lili agrees and Diablo wonders why. She goes on about how she’s tired of Dan’s nosiness, his perfection, etc. etc. She doesn’t say that she’s really pissed cuz he wouldn’t accept her deal. Diablo’s glad she’s finally on his side. “Welcome back, Diabla.”
Dan’s place
Cute scene where Dan’s trying to figure out why Lil Vicky’s crying. Nope, she’s not hungry. She’s gotta stinky but Tio has no clue what to do. The doorbell rings and it’s Lucia. She heard the good news. “Ya supe que eres libre.”
END OF EPISODE
I’m hoping Lucia won’t change the diaper but coach him through it.

Great, great recap, Spanish student! Thank you for filling in many details!

Juanita, the reason why Silvana would go to the police to say she's worried that her brother got into a police car, is that she and the police know she and her brother are the children of a narco, so if her brother got into a police car, it means he's secretly working with the cops, and could get killed by narcos in revenge if found out. She does not want the cops to work with him, for his own safety, and feels that if the cops are working with him, they are exposing him to a terrible risk, even if Elias himself has agreed to this risk.
Thank you spanish student; a luxury to hang out in bed reading your engaging recap with my morning coffee!
"After the scene with Elena it was nice to see someone admit they’re not okay." Poor Gonzalo. I guess they have to let him go to pieces before he can accept the support & love from Abel. (Is Abel mature enough?; maybe he got a decent haircut?)
Uuf that insufferable Carlos! I wanted to throttle him and his little toy! The bf's name is Eugenio, or Neno for short. I actually missed the part where Carlos so bitchily said to stop feeding Nena. (thanks for catching that, it really adds to the impression of C.'s pettiness) Amazing how the two psychiatric experts are the most confused about their own issues. The blind leading the blind. Our former sourpuss nun has no clue about the depth of the injury done to Elena.
"Elena admits that she feels no mercy for him because he ripped out her soul. She says goodbye to Rad’s lifeless body. “May God forgive you…” "...because I can't" she adds. I wish everybody would stop pestering her to get better in a hurry. She's the most honest about what she feels of anybody in this show. And that's the first step. The feelgood crap can come later.
Nuria's dress was a triumph of engineering!
Fernanda: "I guess she’s forgiven." We still have a couple of weeks for Fernanda's anvil to fall. I can't believe they would settle for that weak reconciliation with Ignacio.
I love how Nuria wanted an inventory of the dresses she would receive in exchange for her "errand".
"I’m hoping Lucia won’t change the diaper but coach him through it." LOL!
This show continues to up the ante! Anas is looking over her balcony at the beautiful beach, when far down below, THAT guy looks suspicious, haven't I seen him before? She calls Conrado to look, but by the time he arrives, the guy has disappeared. Later, Renato speaks to the guy on the phone, who was his hired assassin, telling him, don't kill the boss OR the boyfriend, just keep an eye on them and tell me what they're doing. Did they see you? The guy says Anas might have, for just a minute, but from far away. Well, if she sees you, that's it, get outta there.
Leandro tells José the meeting is over, I never want to see you again. José Carlos wipes the blood off his nose, leaves, without a word to a disappointed Paolo. She starts ranting, and Leandro has Iggy pick her up, dump her on her bed in her room, and lock the door.
Gina meets with Leandro, tells him the premiere of Sugar Lips is tonight, he should go. He agrees to work with her, and starts to pull her towards him for some hot lovin'. She backs off, that's not part of the deal. Oh yes it is, honey, he replies, and when she says she's not participating, he says, no worries, I'll do all the work. He kneels down as if he's going to lift her skirt or something and we get the feeling what “he'll do all the work” means. But of course at that precise moment, Doctora Isabel catches them! As Isabel stalks off in disgust, Gina tells Leandro she doesn't want to interfere. You aren't, replies Leandro, no woman can be my boss, I can have them all. Hmmmmm.
I was wrong, Gina was not in the back room with baby Rodrigo when Silvana had visited Gloria. It's just that the baby was crying, and Gloria just doesn't want to care for him, lets him cry. Gina goes to visit Gloria to complain about this, Gloria says it's a newborn, you should be nursing him, or at least caring for him, they're really hard to care for in the first weeks. Just bear with me a little longer, replies Gina, we're going to be millionaires! Unknown to them, Silvana had been staking out Gloria's place (the cops need to hire her). She sees a lady with a brunette wig enter, and then she goes to the door. Gina hides behind a wall, as Silvana, still showing good manners, tries to question Gloria, she knows someone is here with the baby, and she just wants to visit. Gloria is firm, Silvana leaves. But she doesn't leave completely, watches again, and sees Gina leave the house a few minutes later. Silvie follows Gina (who is wearing a wig, so Silvie can't see who she is), she goes to her apartment house, but notices she's being followed. Silvie is just a few steps behind, Gina ducks into a housecleaning closet, and Silvie is just about to open the door when the maid appears, can I help you? Sorry, says Silvie, I'm just lost, and has to leave. Inside the closet, Gina can breathe again.
Time for some shower scenes. Lu runs into the mean girls, and they're high as kites. She asks Daytona, where'd you get the stuff? Well, from your boyfriend, of course, silly! Chad, having celebrated the end of the basketball season with some champagne with his buddies, is now cleansing his hot body with suds, when in bursts Lu, I can't believe you're selling pot to Daytona! Chad's response is to pull Lu in, under the spray, and his sexy wet kisses make her forget all about that pot, as her clothes get soaked, and she doesn't care one bit.
Later, Chad goes to Adán, and says he wants to work for Adán. He'll do “lo que sea” which based on my watching of other novelas, means that Chad had better take out some life insurance. Of course, Adán hasn't agreed yet.
Our other shower scene is with Érica and Conrado. He finds out she tried to kill herself, was in the hospital, so he goes home, and they have sex in their shower. But later, she tells Carmen he just “took what he wanted” and left, which reinforces our view of Conrado as WAA. Érica doesn't want to go the the film premiere, and Carmen tries to make things right, separately reassuring Sergio (wearing some wild leather pants) that even if Érica doesn't arrive, he can make things work, and then reassuring Érica that she's doing this for art, and all her dreams can come true. Ojalá.
Érica also finds out they're gonna have bodyguards, and is initially against it, she doesn't want to lose her privacy, but when reminded she's a famous actress now, and needs to be protected against an overzealous public, she smiles.
Analía's Mom tells her she just can't get to see Gerardo Casaneira, the people at that place wouldn't give her the time of day. Analía tells her it's essential, she must speak to Gerardo Casaneira! Uh oh, Alejo heard this, and he's a bit drunk or stoned, he goes into a rage, smashing things, grabbing Analía around the neck, how DARE you start up with that guy again! Ana says let me go, fights him off, yells at him, I thought our marriage was OVER, and now you're still jealous, you don't own me! I think Alejo begs to differ.
Silvana tells Anas what happened, that she thinks Gina is alive, and living at an apartment complex, the Palms. Anas sends Renato and Conrado to check it out. We see Gina packing her bags as fast as she can, she grabs everything, rushes out of the room, just as Conrado and Renato arrive at the front desk, asking for Gina Bianchi. The clerk calls the room, says Ms. Bianchi must have just left. We see Gina behind a pillar, fearing for her life. Conrado charms the same maid who prevented Silvie from looking in that housekeeping closet, to let him into the room. Nobody's there, but he seems to smell the air, it's very suspicious. He also gives the maid some cash. The guys return to base, Renato says sorry, boss, no sign of Gina at that apartment. Conrado pipes up, yeah, but she WAS registered there, and when I checked her room, I was sure she had been there. Renato wants to call it case closed, Anas doesn't, are you hiding something from me, Renato?
SHE decides to visit Gloria, and acts very friendly, professional, but firm. She says she knows Gloria doesn't want to care for the baby. Anas lays a large wad of bills on the table. This should take care of things, now bring me the baby. Later, we see Anas driving her Mercedes, the baby's in the back seat, she arrives at the mansion, Modesta is happy to see her, takes the basket with Rodrigo inside. But back at Gloria's house, we see her DEAD ON THE FLOOR, the door still ajar. Anas tells Renato to get the cleanup specialists, they've got another job. She says it was an accident, and we see what happened. Gloria didn't want the cash, started insulting Anas, started fighting her, hit her with some object, at which point Anas got enraged, threw Gloria down, and we see why it's always good to childproof a house with small babies....just in case a lady druglord throws you against a table, because you KNOW you're gonna hit your head on the sharp edge of that table! Which Gloria did, and that was Gloria's Hallelujah.
But if Anas finds out that Gina's alive, Renato's gonna have a lot of 'splainin' to do!
I love your recaps, Hombre. They're usually delightful as well as informative, and that certainly is true this time. I especially enjoyed your saying now we see why it's a good idea to childproof a house with small babies. Whew! For once I did the right thing: I DID childproof my home, and I guess that's why I never had a nasty visit from a lady druglord. I always wondered about that.
I'm not great on identifying people, and perhaps that's why I first thought that the guy Anas spotted from the balcony was LQ. Fortunately, her identification skills seem to be better than mine (not a high bar to beat).
Between Renato's increasing dismay over Anas' actions and Anas' coming disappointment over Gina's still being alive, things aren't looking too good for Renato's longevity. Then again, it's hard to imagine the telenovela without him.
Sneaky...AWESOME!! Thanks so much. Funny side notes too!
Did anyone else notice the microphone hanging over the scene when Caye and Sofia were sitting on the Gallardo couch talking. It was only there briefly, but enough to get caught!!
I loved hearing about the nicknames. I had no idea about the caveman one. It's like a whole different show since I am relying on my intermediate Spanish to watch it. I did look up abaniles though and thought that was an odd name since they aren't bricklayers!
Monday should be a big day. Hopefully the Gallardo secret gets out in the open instead of dragging it on for another few weeks.
~Newbie
Great Hombre, as always
Renato can explain Gina by just saying, "I have no idea how she could have crawled out of that alligator pit"
Thanks, Hombre. I love your childproof line too – lol. And Ferrara could use some tips from Gina (and Saúl) on how to conduct surveillance. So far the supercop is not so super.
I’m hoping that maybe Gloria isn’t dead since the camera didn’t show her face and Anas in her rush left the door ajar.
Gina can definitely handle an awkward moment with much cool. I about fell out of my chair when LQ’s head was about to dive under her dress and his docter/lover opened the door. My one laugh in this grim episode.
In a dark wig (and dark shades) Gina could be mistaken for Silvana. I noticed this as Silvana tailed Gina.
Oh-no, Lu folded like a cheap tent for hot sex. But I’ll give her a break since she’s only 18. Surely Adán will not hire his daughter’s boyfriend for dope running.
I expected better from Conrado when he rushed to Erica. He pushes all Anas’ buttons telling her what she wants to hear. But for his wife, he doesn’t even stay to talk to see where her head is at.
another terrific recap Hombre!
you make this look so easy.
kind of strange watching Renato clean that statue.
when I saw Gloria laying there dead I just figured Anas shot her and kept the money, am I being too hard on her?
Alejo's rant to Analia over Geraldo, never wanting to hear that name, did he throw out that Geraldo was Analia's first?
I think Gloria is done for. When Anas got back to the house, she told Renato to send in the cleaners. I'm hoping that Gina gets there first and has the cops on scene before the cleaners can get there. Something to get a little evidence against Anas. She is not good people.

Spanish Student, Thank you for your excellent recap -- you lay out events so clearly and your own reactions to the craziness make for a fun read.
LXV,
[Elena's] the most honest about what she feels of anybody in this show. And that's the first step. The feelgood crap can come later."
You are so right. It's like people urging the newly bereft to snap out of it instead of allowing the person to grieve. It's instructive that Gonzalo has been living with his sorrow or at least a suspicion that something was wrong for some time (weeks? months?) while Elena's trauma is fresh and raw.
I wonder if Elena's salvation will literally be 'salvation' in this very faith-themed story. Remember how Sor Amparo helped Lucha to regain her faith in God and how transformative that was for her?
So what do we think about Daniel and his abusive interrogation? Has he learned NOTHING? (Or maybe I'm the one who hasn't learned the rules yet.)
If Lucha were not a nearly perfect person, I might be tempted to say she has been toying with Sor Loser Marina, allowing that pathetic, irritating bundle of non-professionalism to fantasize about a future with Daniel when she knows it will never happen. I realize Lucha can't come out and say, "My marriage is a sham and my so-called husband will be dead or behind bars in less than two weeks," but she doesn't have to keep egging her on.
P.S. As deb already said, Javier Diáz Dueñas (Radamés) was in La Patrona; he also played Don Cleto in El Señor de los Cielos His acting resumé is pretty impressive.
NvMv : "I wonder if Elena's salvation will literally be 'salvation'" I'm with you on this. I have strong feelings for her and I think she has the depth of character to find a fulfilling life once she heals her wounds. She's searching hard & deep and perhaps Misericordia is the right place to find some salvation. I'm not particularly religious (having been tortured by nuns in childhood), but I believe in the power of faith for many people. (I just have my own peculiar brand of it.) On the other hand, there's Marina who's just had a skin-deep conversion. What a lightweight! She & that ninny Carlos deserve each other. (I'm saying that now, but watch, he'll manage his own conversion before this is over—"get thee to a real shrink, hombre!")
About the abusive interrogation; It was pretty intimidating, but I don't think Dan did anything worse than what we regularly see on Law & Order. He held the guy's head head against the table, but didn't otherwise harm him; other than denying him his right to a lawyer. But all kinds of verbal tactics are kosher in "the box" from what I know about American TV Justice. Could Mexican be more humane?
I wonder what Lucha's game is; she's juggling a very dangerous situation and knows it; she keeps her own counsel about her moves. She's so big (if you will) in personality and integrity, I think she is courteous, but just considers Marina a pesky mosquito. I don't think of her as malicious. But, you're right, she doesn't "have to keep egging her on."
Oh, yes, I do remember "Radames" as Don Cleto. I liked him in Cielos (even though he was the "don" of a crime family; and at deb's suggestion, I may start watching La Patrona in my spare(?) time. I saw episode one and noticed many familiar faces.
wow, wonderful recap Spanish student,
something about the way you do these fascinates me,
they are so simple, so complete, and so nice to read.
Nuria sure knows how to 'toss' a place while searching for something.
good reminder, "(I seem to recall these 2 having a fight over Chelo’s knives after Nuria moved in with Gaston.)"
ah yes NovelaMaven, Daniel's head slam confessions, do these hold up in court?
NovelaMaven: "So what do we think about Daniel and his abusive interrogation?"
LXV: "I don't think Dan did anything worse than what we regularly see on Law & Order."
Deb: "Daniel's head slam confessions, do these hold up in court?"
My immediate reaction when I saw it was "Ugh, not again."
