TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: The Final Weeks of Los Miserables - Week of March 9, 2015

I thought we could use a separate weekly page from now until the grand finale of our novela.   Enjoy!

NovelaMaven Thank you so much for getting us started—and on our own page! Looking forward to tonight's. I'll have the recap up around noon tomorrow.

The Gran Final for Los Miserables is tonight or Friday ?

Steve Boudreaux,

As far as I know, the date of the final episode has not yet been announced. We know we are in the "final episodes" (últimos capítulos) and we know that the mini-series, La Biblia, begins on March 25. So we could, theoretically, have 12 more episodes to go.

LXV, as always, the pleasure is mine!

NovelaMaven--Haven't been on Telemundo since Reina. Is La Biblia next? Is there a summary somewhere yet, so I can add it to Las Proximas?

Yeah! Our own page!

Back in Capitulo 35, Melquiades slipped Daniel a piece of paper with some information that if he should die, Daniel would have all his enemies in his hands. Well, he died and I don't recall that information being used or even what it was. I wonder if it will resurface before the end.

-El Señor EC

btw, I'll do Thursday night's episode - unless it is the finale. We should all do the finale.

Anita,

Nice to see you back in the colonia! All I know about La Biblia is what I wrote above -- that it is a miniseries that starts on March 25 (and presumably leads up to Easter Sunday).

For what it's worth, here is the Telemundo page:

http://www.telemundo.com/novelas/la-biblia

El Señor,

Excellent! So we have the week covered if I take Wednesday (which I will unless someone wants doubles).

It's fun to split the recapping of the final episode, though it might be a challenge in this format. Let's figure it out when we know when it is and who might be interested in participating.

I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I don't remember Melquiades (but I did miss a bunch of stuff in the middle of the story). Can you refresh my memory?

Thank you so much, NovelaMaven! Ihis is a delightful surprise, a page just for Los Miserables!

Aficionada

Got a minute now. I am so pleased you all are thinking of doing a shared recap of the final! Especially since La Biblia starts on a wednesday and i feared the final might fall on the tuesday, and you would all be left with one of my recap-ish outlines, which just would not do for such a fine and gripping telenovela!
I will, though, contribute in any way I can.

Just, thank you all for that exciting plan!

Hasta esta noche

LOS MIZ Cap 108—Lunes, 9 marzo—parte 1

DAN'S BACHELOR PAD
We're at Dan's where Lucha is giving Dan a diaper-changing lesson. Dan's all smitten and gooshey about the idea of having a baby with Lucha. She's all "ain't gonna happen., especially the getting married part" (which of course, means, with all those odds against her, she'll manage to conceive. Mark my words.) The cleavage is quite prominent in this scene, as Lucia shows off her assets in a terrible looking blouse & slacks outfit. No wonder he's gone goofy. They sweet talk a bit; he wants to take her out to dinner, she wants to cook.

Luch & Dan eat; he likes her cooking; they muse about their true feelings, even when they were in jail; did they think about each other?. Lot's of together-talk. Together forever; together in another life, bla-bla-bla.

HELLHOLE HIDEAWAY
Genaro plots the logistics of arming the mission to get the merca.. It will be complicated and costly; we've just got to get past 25 armed guards in this basement over there. Lil will wangle the money from those Bolivianos. Diablo doubts her prowess at persuasion, but we all know better, and he concedes she may have a point.

A RESTAURANT
Diablo is having trouble convincing a Bolivian, un tal Fidel Gomez, that everything is copacetic, since it sure doesn't seem that way after all the drugs were confiscated. Lily struts in and this fellow is all over her. Hoo-eeeh! Diablo introduces her as partner. She's very businesslike, though, "let's get straight to the point," all the while playing up to this joker. Diablo excuses himself leaving her to her close the deal.

AFIAD
Pablo to his crew, "We have to prove that Olegario Marrero is not dead and that he's still running the cartel" He's got hold of Radamés' list of properties. Diablo's people must be hiding out in one of them. They have to watch every place carefuly & report on the slightest suspicion. We've got to bring theses guys down! Let's get to work! León's on top of it; she'll figure it out. (But I seem to recall that Nuria's the fall guy for the Hellhole Hideaway, if our earlier suppositions are correct).

DAN'S PAD
The lovebirds are still smiling at each other when Octavio walks in (at an awkward moment). ¿Interrumpi algo? She takes her leave. Octo's a bit abashed at having screwed up D&L's obviously romantic moment.

NURIA'S HELLHOLE HIDEAWAY
Back at the warehouse, Nuria can't help but notice the disgruntled Genaro's bitter mood. She understands him (and I think she really does, with her history of being used). "The way Lil was dressed when she stepped out, she's putting one over on you." "Shut up will ya." His stony facade is breaking down a bit; he wants consolation: "Stay & drink with me." Nuria' OK with that.

PRISON INFIRMARY
Radamés is awake! A sleazy guard explains he's there to prevent and further attempts on his life. Rad wants to know if he's interested in making a little dinero on the side. Rad offers him $ to kill a woman...

THE PENTHOUSE OF PERDITION
It must be later because Lucha's there to answer the door. It's un tal Felipe asking for "Rafael Montes". Felipe & "Rafael"'s discussion devolves to "When're you gonna pay me?" All of which Lucha overhears through a closed door, including the Rafa = Oleg part; turns out this is the guy who engineered & implemented the whole identity transplant for el Diablo. A shocked look crosses her face. (I thought she knew this) "Extortion?" Felipe will rat him out if he doesn't pay. Oleg throttles him. Lucha hears the fight and breaks in to break it up. "Raf" is annoyed at her for being such a buttinski.

LOS MIZ Cap 108—Lunes, 9 marzo—parte 2

DAN'S PAD
Octavio apologizes (to Dan???) for having been so pig-headedly wrong in his judgement of Lucia. But everybody accused her & it was his dad after all and, bla-bla-bla. Lot's of fatuous pardon talk between these two who managed to make life hell for our Lucha. "We hurt the ones we love, etc." [ed note: this is Platitude #1; there will be a quiz.] Marina's at the door...Dan's uncharacteristically happy face kind of sours a bit; the jaw protrudes and wrinkles wrap his forehead. Uh-oh.

LA CASA DURAN
Pab wants to talk things over with Elena; she doesn't.

THE RESTAURANT
Lil's still in her business meeting with this guy—she's multitasking: negotiating while flirting. He proposes a hotel room. An ever-vigilant & increasingly disgruntled, but indiscreet Genaro spies on them from the doorway. At the boss man's signal, his henchman grabs Gen and drags him over to the table. Lili, nods her OK, "he's just my watchdog; you can let him go." Lil has the whole situation in her hands; this guy is drooling over her as she sends "the dog out."

LA CASA DURAN
El & Pab are still at loggerheads; he's trying to break the ice, she's stubborn and rejects him with all she's got. It starts out anger for having been stood up at the altar (so to speak; it was really the registry office, but she was all decked out in bridal finery, feeling just like a quinceañera) and it escalates into enraged blame for her having been so brutally raped by Radamés (as if poor Pab had anything to do with her sordid history).

EN LA CALLE
Lucha has evidently followed this "Felipe" and has taken a snapshot; he tries to grab the phone, but she knees him where it counts and runs away.

LA CASA DURAN
The agony continues. She will not give Pablo another chance & refuses to listen. Their love is over, wrecked, forever. The only thing she feels for him now is el odio mas profundo. Pobre de Pablo.

THE P OF P
Rosa doesn't know where Lucha is (but we do). Oleg is pi$$ed. She's evidently completed her errand out there en la calle and returns only to rebuff her "husband" yet again. He questions her suspiciously about where she went & why. She just walks off to her room. Diablo wants to set the record straight, He wants to correct any misapprehensions she may have about who he is and what she overheard. He pleads with his sincere Rafa act. Promises promises She rather crisply kicks him out of her room. Teeth grinding, he exits.

DAN'S BACHELOR PAD
Marina & Dan—she thinks they have a future (poor deluded soul that she is). Dan is kind of like "gulp!". He realizes he's going to have to set this record straight in a hurry. Her antennae are supersensitive and it doesn't take much to get her going about Lucia. Chelo shows up with a sheaf of papers that Lil had neglected to remove from her room at La Casa. I guess Nuria left a bit of a mess about when she broke in to get the Cayman bank passcode. Dan & Chelo are all hot to get Lil.

Dan tries to put Marina off: "we'll talk later, there are too many people around." Chelo brings up the baptism for li'l Vicki. Dan's all baby-happy. Octavio wants Lucha to be godmother and Dan to be godfather. The side-lined Marina gets real twitchy & pissy. "Can't we talk?" Dan's phone rings; it's Lucha with the goods on the guy: a photo from her encounter en la calle." Nice police work, honey." Dan smiles into the phone. Marina starts whingeing about esa tipa. Chelo reprimands her for her bad attitude. "That's my sister you're talking about."

LOS MIZ Cap 108—Lunes, 9 marzo—parte 3

MISERICORDIA
Sor Mili is gently scolding Deya for scatterbrainedness and general slacking when Deya gets a cramp. Uh-oh! What could this be—appendicitis? a miscarriage? Punishment for past sins? Let's all think the worst, shall we? Doc Gonzalo, with the shaky hand safely tucked away in his pocket, reviews some sonogram or other and assures assembled company that everything's going to be OK, but not before a panicked Carlos rushes in. Mili says don't bother her; Carlos doesn't care about anything but HIS kid. This gives him a excuse to hug Deya in a protective grip. She's all goggle-eyed, but he looks positively menacing to me. I'm not sure that's the impression he's trying to create. At any rate, they leave the consultorio together like it's a normal pre-natal visit and Carlos, not Deyanira has the paperwork in his hand. [Does this mean they're a couple now?]

AFIAD
Pab & Dan check out ese tipo, Felipe . "We need an answer fast on this one, Pab. " Dan's jaw is already working overtime after a too-brief vacation of baby bliss.

NURIA'S H.H.
Pacing about the empty place, Genaro finally delivers his pent-up soliloquy; all about his unrequited & rebuffed love for that mujerzuela, that zorra of a Liliana. Nuria interrupts; she tells him he looks fregado. He tells her to shut up. Oleg enters in a fury about that Felipe demanding more money. Nuria offers to help him with his stress level; he takes her up on it; they go off together to the bed in the back.

A SIDEWALK CAFE
Abel spills his tale of woe about Gonzo to his asymmetrical soulmate Adriana. "Why do bad things happen to good people?"[I know you were waiting for this, and here it is: Platitude #2]. Abel feels helpless; she tries to be helpful, "what he needs is love & respect." Octavio shows up with Vicki; and Abel, somewhat unaccountably (because I thought he walked freely away from his marriage) gets testy.

BACK AT THE H.H.
Nuria's done her duty; they emerge from the back room. Elsy Reyes did what she does best; Oleg is a happy camper for the moment. Did Gen do what Oleg wanted? Yeah, boss, it's just a matter of time. Lil walks in — it's all set up; she's got those Bolivians eating out of her hand. We've got everything we need men, guns & money to make our assault on the basement where the goods are being held. She's all out of breath and smiling a little too much. Genaro does not conceal his displeasure.

THE OFFICE OF THAT FELIPE CHARACTER
I guess he's a crooked lawyer and we find him ransacking his desk in search of something. He blows up at his secretary and goes outside the building where he runs into none other than the entire AFIAD squad. "Felipito" doesn't want to talk; they bring him in on charges of falsification of documents.

THE CAFE
Some rather unexpected antler-bashing transpires on the sidewalk. Abel challenges Octavio for trying to take his place in Adriana's affections: "What's a pipsqueak like you doing with my mature woman?" Adri objects to being called "old" and Octo protests that he's nineteen already! So whoever it was called this matchup, looks as if you were right! Abel fumes and stomps off. Adri & Octo bond after this unpleasant confrontation, and play "new parents" together.

LOS MIZ Cap 108—Lunes, 9 marzo—parte 4

LA CASA DURAN
Elena, with the raw nerves, steps into the house and immediately recoils from a sympathetic hug from her papá. "¡No me toques!" Her hysterical fear of being touched by any man escalates into a screaming match with Chelo, who ends up slapping her hard just to break the tension. Elena's a mess.

AFIAD, IN "THE BOX"
Felipe starts to buckle under pressure; he's not a hardened gangster, he's just a slimeball lawyer with three kids, looking after his own interests and this Anselmo Benitez came to him with an offer couldn't refuse. "Everybody has his price." and he confesses that he faked the the digital identity for "un tal Rafael Montes. Pab tells it like it is and Mari seconds that emotion: "estás hundido" unless he cooperates.

CASA DURAN
The screaming continues. Elena is having psychotic moments; she hallucinates Radamés. Chelo screams back at her to go ahead & scream! She even screams with her. by way of demonstration. Iggy even joins in telling her to let it all out! She looks positively looney. Chelo & Daddy will hold her up and hold her together. She looks fearfully, but perhaps hopefully toward her dad as Chelo wraps her ample arms around the quivering Elena.

AFIAD
Pablo phones Lucha at the penthouse to ask her to try to get hold of some kind of a compromising document that would prove that Raf = Oleg. Dan yanks the phone away from Pab. He's kinda furious about endangering the love of his life in this way.

so up in the PENTHOUSE, we see Lucha rummaging around in Oleg's closets—it's dark. He, suddenly, comes home staggering drunk, singing loudly how even if she won't have him, tonight he's going to show her that he's her true love, and promptly falls face down onto the bed.

PRISON, INFIRMARY
Rad's still alive, (how did this happen? was he resuscitated or is he still dying), wants some assurance from the lackey guard who wants to earn the easy money. "You said there was good money, so I went out and hired only the best for this job." "Bring me a snapshot and prove it, then you'll get your money." Rad's going to give his estocada final, the final thrust! He wants to wreak revenge on "his" mujer !!!

FINAL SCENE, IN THE PENTHOUSE
Lucha still wearing that unspeakably unattractive blouse & slacks, is sneaking around in the darkened bedroom with the drunken Diablo stretched out on the bed; she discovers a voter registration card in the name of the real Rafael Montes and on the reverse is a thumbprint!

Thanks for such a great recap LXV.

"turns out this is the guy who engineered & implemented the whole identity transplant for el Diablo.", "and he confesses that he faked the the digital identity for un tal Rafael Montes."Wow, I completely missed that detail without subtitles! I could not understand anything this guy was saying. Just like when Carlos and Marina are having a convesation, I never get it.

"Genaro does not conceal his displeasure." I think he is going to do something to screw up the operation.

"Lucha still wearing that unspeakably unattractive blouse & slacks" hehehe.

I saw tonight's avance! There is no way they can stretch it out another week.

-El Señor EC

LXV,

Thank you for the splendid recap replete with tart character observations and fashionista commentary. Your descriptions of each dramatic scene are pitch perfect, bringing the story back to life for us on the page. What a gift you have!

I DO mark your words. Always. We should remember that Lucha has no uterus, so she would need either a uterine transplant (Sor Loser would be a good cadaver donor but with Gonzalo's super-surgeon skills grown shaky, Lucha might have to go to...is it France that just announced a successful procedure?) or a surrogate (not Sor Loser -- she'd never give the kid up. (Maybe Deya, but with her, I worry about infections, even if no one else does. Chelo? Maybe)

Lucha's outfit wasn't so bad. It wasn't her fault they ran out of her size.

It is SO disappointing that Radamés is still breathing. Since almost all of the bad guy plots fail, let's hope this hit on Elena fails too. And let's assume that the toxin in Radamés is irreversible and lethal, just unaccountably slow.

Sor Mili was actually praising Deya's efficiency and Deya answered that she was doing her best for her baby's sake. (Or maybe damning with faint praise: "who would have imagined you'd be so good at this?")

I think that Felipe guy was some sort of public official. I can't recall what his building said, but it appeared to be governmental, which, of course, makes his offense even more...offensive.

BTW, I saw another promo for Avenida Brasil last night. Do you suppose they are going to run it in primetime?

El Señor, I agree that Genaro is probably going to try to sabotage the operation. This will likely backfire on him and get him killed.

El Señor EC Thanks for your kind comments. I'm getting so excited about the final, but I hope it's not true that it's going to be over as soon as you think. Now, I'm tempted to watch the avances.

Novela Maven Thanks for your correction about Deya! and I believe you're right about Felipe being a public official of some sort. Pablo alluded to that when he charged him with falsification, which made his crime all the more serious.

"Lucha's outfit wasn't so bad. It wasn't her fault they ran out of her size." you cracked me up!

Yeah, Radames is still alive, by whatever means? And I had forgotten that Lucha had actually lost her uterus in the terrible injury back on Day #1. But this IS a telenovela and what prota isn't pregnant at her boda? You list some interesting possibilities as a substitute.

We still have to get those happy campers back into the mix. Roxi's going to have to face her worst enemy one more time, I'm afraid.

I was happy to see Chelo throwing her weight around to a good purpose last night. She's suffered so for being a "fatty" but I think it had a stabilizing effect on Elena's terror when she said "I'm bigger than you are."

gracias for the recaps. I missed 1/2 of what was said because I couldnt stop staring at Lucha's outfit

the Miserables

thanks so much lxv,
you are so good at this!

interesting that the drugs could have easily been recovered earlier when Vidal was in charge (Genaro's plan) but Diablo put everyone's priority in getting Daniel.

ah yes, Mariana once again foiled by Luchus interruptus.

I don't think the hellhole hideout has a cleaning lady, the back alley is probably full of booze bottles, and I don't even want to think about the bed in the back.

Genaro, who hasn't completely flipped like his bosses, seems to be the only one around that can plot out their evil, but the way he is constantly being dissed and ignored, I too wonder how much longer this will last.

I'm kind of lost on how Afiad confirmed Olegario was Rafael in the first place.

deb, remember a funny scene at the Misericordia where someone [not Lucha, maybe Deya?] practically forced "Rafa" to drink something? The glass was turned over to AFIAD for fingerprint analysis and confirmed Rafa's identity.

Anonymouse, it was one of the non-descript nurses that Daniel sweet talked into giving Rafael a drink so he could get his finger prints.

-El Señor EC

Los Mis

Thanks, LXV. Excellent recap...I 2nd everything NovelaMaven said. Love how you color the scenes and bring them to life.

All I can say is thank goodness Elena crashed in this episode. It was heart-wrenching watching her struggle to maintain her sanity. She's not only dealing with a rape but years of repression thanks to Fernanda and Radames. The actresses who play Elena and Chelo did a wonderful job.

Just took a moment to reread everybody's comments and I'm blushing a little bit. Just glad to know everybody likes this show as much as I do.

I agree with El Señor that both Carlos & Marina are mumblers. I couldn't get through without the captions. Sometimes I wish I could get them in English, but for some reason CC3 doesn't work for me. Probably better that way.

Can't wait to see Genaro extract his own vengeance for all the shabby treatment and betrayal. But, of course, despite my moment of sympathy, there's no salvation for the likes of him.

Is Nuria going to weasel out of this? She's such a tough survivor, I have a hunch she may manage to escape the inevitable, only to live on in another telenovela! LOL

So, is Radames still in the process of dying from that long-acting lethal injection, not to mention the physical abuse? I want to see him plunged into the fiery furnace.

i will not be recapping, tonight, or other. goodbye.

aficionada

Aficionada,

Was that really your comment at 07:52? Are you okay????

Aficionada, "goodbye" sounds rather alarming. Please, please let us know if you're OK!

the Miserables

gran final, martes, 24th!

LOS MISERABLES, martes

Parte 1

This is from memory and not in order, and is surely missing some important details. Please chime in with additions and corrections.

Note: They've finally announced that the last episode will air on Tuesday, March 24.

Light-fingered Lucha, finally dressed like a grown-up, brings Rafael's wallet ID card with its authenticated thumbprint to the AFIAD. It is the evidence they needed to call Olegario Marrero's bluff. All the i's aren't quite dotted, but it's enough for an arrest order. The papers Chelo supplied are also useful in tracing the path of the dirty money. [The Duran girls should both get Special Deputy Badges.]

Carlos feeds Deya cookies and spends the night in her bed. She gets her hopes up.

Lucha moves out of the Penthouse of Perdition and tells Rosa to do the same. Olegario comes home just as the unfortunate Rosa is wheeling out her suitcase. She gets away. Whew. Olegario realizes that Lucha is gone. Alone in the place, he does a full monster face. No one makes a fool of him! He vows to find Lucha and kill her.

The cops have assigned Marisela to guard Lucha. Mari is with Lucha in her new hotel room and later joins her and the whole Duran clan for mini-Vicky's baptism.

Elena really was affected by Chelo's "intervention" the night before. [Carlos tells us Chelo's Snap out of it slap was a big mistake, however.] She approaches Dr. Marina and admits that she needs her help. She talks about blaming Pablo for standing her up at the Registry, but also acknowledges that she loves him and fears she may have pushed him away forever by her behavior. [We are supposed to believe that Marina is a wonderful clinician, though everything she has done and said up to now screams the contrary and there is no warmth in her manner. None. Oh well.]

While Elena is with Marina, Chelo helps out Carlos by answering his phone at the reception desk. Neno wanders by and asks Chelo where the beautiful lady is. Then he sweetly pulls his foot out of his mouth as he assures her that she is also a beautiful lady. Chelo smiles warmly. She's not one to hold a grudge.

Damn. Radamés is taking his sweet time on the road to hell. Alejandro brings López to his bedside for show and tell: this is what happens when you refuse to talk to the cops and count on the cartel to protect you. López is still keeping mum. Radamés is satisfied to learn that Olegario has been unmasked. He rants about wanting all of his enemies to suffer.

Later, Ivana comes to see her uncle. I didn't really understand this part because I thought Rad had already taken out a hit on Elena through the corrupt prison guard, but he seems to strike a similar deal with Ivana the Terrible. Ugh. Later we see two sicarios hanging out on the sidewalk outside the Duran home and fonda. They report to their boss that their target (Elena) is inside, but there are too many cops around to strike now. They will bide their time and wait for the right moment.

Martes, Parte 2

The family Duran goes ahead with the baptism. We see godmother Lucha holding little Victoria and godfather Daniel smiling at her side. Adri enters with Santi in arms. Abel grouses about her presence. She tells him Octavio invited her and besides, Vicky was her best friend. Of course Elena and Chelo are there too. Marisela keeps a watchful eye on the proceedings, but the Diablo doesn't appear.

He is hot on Lucha's trail, however, making calls and unwelcome visits at every place he can think of, including Deya's apartment. Deya answers his insistent ringing at the door without checking to see who it is. He pushes his way inside, shoves her down against the couch and then leaves in a fury when he realizes Lucha isn't there. Deya is terrified that his rough handling may have harmed her pregnancy. She calls Carlos. He and Elena hurry over and are able to reassure Deya -- she isn't bleeding and that is a good sign.

Lucha calls Sor Milagros to warn her that Rafael isn't Rafael; she needs to be on her guard. In fact, Rafael does show up at the hospital looking for Lucha. He tries to bully Dr. Mallorca. The doc handles himself well, but it's really Sor Mili who stands up to him and gets him to back down.

The baptism party makes its way back to Misericordia. (Why?) Rafael is still asking for Lucha. Daniel stupidly confronts him in front of the assembled group, telling him the jig is up -- everyone knows he is Olegario Marrero. And now he is under arrest. Rafagario does a twitchy switch to the Diablo as he pulls out his gun. The family takes cover. Miraculously no one is caught in the hail of bullets. Then more cops show up and it looks like Oleg is done for. But just at that moment, a team pushing a stretcher rushes through and in the confusion, the Diablo is able to grab one of the nurses and hold her hostage so he can escape.

The Durans head back to the house where they set out trays of refreshments for the party. But really, who would go to a party with these tragedy magnets? As mentioned above, the sicarios hired by Radamés are lurking right outside.

In the Hell Hole Hideout, Lily and the Bolivian are pitching woo while Genaro is grimly explaining his plan for storming the AFIAD warehouse and recovering the merca. Genaro blows his stack at the behavior of the other two. The Bolivian tells Lily she needs to put a muzzle on her dog. Lily agrees and once more unmans Genaro in front of a third party. (Nuria isn't around. Maybe she's changing the sheets on the bed in the back.) Afterwards, Lily and Genaro lash out at each other, the former more emasculating than ever. The magic is gone, I guess.

Now Olegario storms in, his head pitched at a dangerous angle, nearly parallel to the ground. It's all over. Everyone knows who he is. "It was just a question of time," says Genaro. The Diablo tells them it's time to run -- or to go into hiding...

End of episode

deb, thanks for alerting us to the date of the final episode! So we ARE going right up the La Biblia.

Aficionada, phone home!

I'm on for tonight unless someone else would like to write it.

Thanks for stepping in, NovelaMaven! And a great memory too.

"The baptism party makes its way back to Misericordia.(Why?)" Didn't they hold the baptism in the chapel at the Misericordia? That, apparently, is the only church in Mexico City, just as the Misericordia is the only hospital.

-El Señor EC

That was brilliant deb; snappy & fast moving, but you sure covered all the bases!

"Light-fingered Lucha, finally dressed like a grown-up" —she was, wasn't she. Kind of elegant, I thought.

"full monster face" —LOL!

These shrinks are pathetic! worthless! Remind me never to have a nervous breakdown in the D.F.

Neno + Chelo? was that a hint of things to come, since Carlos has already taken up residency in Deya's bed? But what about Ramón?

"Radamés is taking his sweet time on the road to hell." Sure is! I guess he figures he bought the first-class ticket so no one's going to give him the bum's rush.

I wasn't sure, but is it possible they held the baptism in the hospital chapel? That would explain why everybody was crowding the hallway for the gunfight scene.

And your description of the scene in the HHH was perfection! The obedient dog has been kicked to the curb one time too many. Cant wait to see Genaro wreak his wrath.

I had never noticed how beautiful Deya is until I saw
her without the signature artificial flower in her hair
and wearing light lipstick.

Aficionada

I'm concerned. Are you OK? You're one of my favorite
recappers.

Anon Gringa

El Señor and LXV,
Of course you are right about the baptism taking place in the hospital chapel! Doh. All roads lead to Misericordia. Thanks!

Hey Anon Gringa, it's good to know you're out there. (Not that we're taking attendance or anything, but we haven't heard from you in a while!)

NovelaMaven

Speaking of favorite recappers. I'm very much out here
and reading the recaps and comments every day, but
I just haven't been commenting as much. Thank you
for noticing which makes me feel good.

fabulous recap NovelaMaven!

(ooo, do I get credit for this one, what a compliment!)

ok, I get the identity thingy now, I think that was a voter registration card from 2010 and so would have an original Rafael print where all of his current stuff was probably changed, so why did Olegario have that card, hmm, maybe he just took Rafael's wallet and left his with his cowboy boots.

Elena sure turned a corner rather quickly, I'm crediting Chelo for that one, and I might have to close my eyes when she meets the hitmen and "Ivana the Terrible".

so while the Colombian is sniffing Lili, and she is edging him on, no one is listening to Genaro's plan, well, we know these narco types, who needs a plan, we will just kill everyone.

and what was poking Deya in the morning as she peeks under the covers at Carlos lower regions?

Thanks, NovelaMaven. I think we shared some of the same reactions…about Rosa’s survival, Radames’ slow death with no remorse, the inappropriateness of the party after a shootout, among others.

What is Abel's problem. He tried to belittle Octavio because of his age yet Octavio is clearly more mature.

The writers must have lots of surprises planned...I didn't see this lasting past Friday.

Aficionada…I hope all is well with you.

Again, perdóneme Novela Maven for misattributing your brilliant recap. It was brilliant & funny as heck.

"Carlos feeds Deya cookies and spends the night in her bed. She gets her hopes up." You very neatly skirted what was really getting up in the bed there, but I think deb (whose comments are also funny as heck) pretty much nailed it. Ahem!

"Ivana the Terrible" — so incredibly apt.

And as already mentioned, I especially love your penultimate paragraph; had to reread the whole thing. Even better the second time

NovelaMaven, thanks as always for the sparkling recap! And thanks too for your excellent one from Monday, LXV.

For the attendance rolls ... although I haven't been able to comment lately, piggy-backing on Anon Gringa to say that I too am out here reading every day. Appreciating everyone's wit, sometimes when watching I crack up when reminded of something clever one of you guys said.

NM, liked your note about Doc Marina. Elena showed an amazing benefit from just one session with her, yet Marina seems such a heavy-handed dolt.
Could be wrong since I glaze over when Radames appears, but I thought he was using Ivana as a go-between, like to come up with the cash to pay the sicarios.

Clara Cacahuate

Clara Cacahuate,

"Could be wrong since I glaze over when Radames appears, but I thought he was using Ivana as a go-between, like to come up with the cash to pay the sicarios."

Yes, of course! That makes perfect sense. Thank you. See the insights we miss when you don't hang out with us? :-)

LXV, you are so funny. I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop. No te preocupes -- it's very flattering to be mistaken for deb! She is witty and fearless, unlike certain unnamed Mavens who are wont to tiptoe around things. jejejeje.

Spanish student, I also thought the story was coming to a close, but as you say, the writers have concocted some surprises for us to keep the action going. I suppose the devils will hold on until the very end even as their minions fall ingloriously all around them. I hope we get to bury the Pharaoh tonight.

deb,
It's a big compliment to be mistaken for YOU, chica!

Thanks for reminding us of the cowboy boots -- those betrayed him to Nuria. And now the voter ID card betrays him to the world. [And all that expensive dental work gone down the drain.]

So do you think the writers are getting a little friskier these days? Is this the point in a novela when everyone comes down with SENIORITIS? Could be...

AnonGringa, I've noticed for some time. I just try not to nag... at least not too much. In our little chorus, every voice is distinct and every voice counts.

Los Miserables, miércoles: Sometimes I feel like a teenager in love

Parte 1

Tonight we take a little break from all the action and reflect on love in all its forms and all its shame and all its glory.

BITTER HEARTS IN THE HELL HOLE HIDEOUT

Olegario realizes that it was Lucha -- Santa Lucía! -- who unmasked him and informed the police. Genaro wonders if he will turn himself in. "Surrender" isn't in Lily's vocabulary. She is determined to cash in on the biggest deal of her life.

AFIAD
Pablo hands Daniel the mysterious envelope delivered earlier. Its contents remain a mystery. Alejandro warns the boys about the threats of the scorned and lovelorn Radamés: Pablo needs to be alert. He tries to blow off the threats as empty, but they resonate in his head.

BITTER HEARTS IN THE TRIPLE H
"I should kill Lucha Duran," says el Diablo. Nuria understands unrequited love. Lucha will never return the Diablo's love; and the Diablo will never return Nuria's love. Losers all around. Lily is so desperate, she invites Nuria to drink with her. But she hasn't lost her bravado: she has worked too hard to give up now. So has Nuria -- all that time servicing el Diablo and for what? The only one he ever thought of was Lucía Duran. Whore1 and Whore2 toast to Lucha's death.

FONDA DURAN -- TELL HIM, TELL HIM, TELL HIM THAT YOU LOVE HIM...
Chelo urges Elena not to deny herself the love she feels and has always felt for Pablo. "Go to him and tell him how you feel, fears and all. He'll understand."

PRISON INFIRMARY -- AS HE LAY DYING AND DYING AND DYING
[Do they really have striped bedding in prison?] Pablo drops in on Radamés and warns him to stay away from Elena or else. [Though realistically -- could it get any worse for Rad?] After nearly choking Rad to death, Pablo departs with the rolling, muscle-bound gait of his that must, in itself, have always been an affront to the portly, ungainly Radamés. "I'm going to hit you where it hurts the most," croaks Radamés, though Pablo is out of earshot.

GIRL TALK
Marisela and Lucha play cards and laugh about their old rivalry in the days when Mari was stuck on the boss. Said boss shows up at the door with take-out (though we are left to guess what it might be).

GOOOOOOOL!
Carlos multitasks, as he waits on Queen for a Deya and watches an exciting match on the TV. But Deya scores his full attention with the effects of her pregnancy on her boobs barely contained by her sexy red nightie. Carlitos is going to be one lucky kid. Carlos puts up token resistance to staying the night, but soon succumbs. It is, after all, good medicine to keep an expectant mother happy.

TWO'S COMPANY
León picks up on Dan's signal to vamoose so he and Lucha can be alone. Smoochies. Danny feels like a teenager in love. It's like a miracle being with Lucha. More smoochies. The theme song swells...

TAKING A CHANCE ON LOVE
Elena decides to follow Chelo's advice. Even though it is night and the streets teem with evil, she goes out alone. Fernanda is puzzled. Not Ignacio. He knows Elena is going to look for Pablo.

LUCHA, DAN, AND MORE SMOOCHIES
I'll never doubt you... I'll never leave you... I missed you so much.. What would me life be without you?

Parte 2

THE ATTACK --WILL HE STILL LOVE YOU WHEN YOU ARE NO LONGER BEAUTIFUL?
Elena is set upon by two predators. Their task: to murder her beauty! Radamés has hired them to throw acid in her face. And it looks as if the dastardly plan is going to succeed...

AFIAD
Marisela returns a little out of sorts. She tells Rodríguez how she was supposed to take care of Lucha, but Danny took over the job. Rodríguez leers that he'd like to "take care of" Marisela [he should really have a Groucho Marx cigar and learn to wiggle his eyebrows up and down]. She rebuffs him, and suggests he consult Pablo or Danny to learn how to charm a lady.

CORAL SHEETS and pillow talk for Deya and Carlos. Is it hot in here or is it ... them?

MY HERO!
As Elena is begging the vermin to have pity on her, Pablo approaches stealthily and, after a few well-placed kicks and blows, frees his love. But then the two attackers shoot at him as they flee on the motorcycle. Pablo falls to the ground, his left arm bloodied. Oh no! We have to wait until after the commercial break to learn that he is okay. Elena takes him in her arms (Yes!) and kisses him (Yes!).

AT THE TRIPLE H: SELF-PITY, TEQUILA, AND RUEFUL MUSINGS ON LOVE.
"I had to fall in love with that miserable Lucía Duran." Stalwart Genaro assures Olegario that women are just like that. Olegario sneers that he will make Lucha pay for what she did to him.

THE NORTEÑO RETURNS FOR A NIGHTMARE APPEARANCE
Though she lies beside our hero Daniel, Lucia's sleep is fitful, filled with visions of vengeful cowboy Marrero echoing the earlier words of Radamés (with a voice distorter yet): I'm going to hit you where it hurts the most. (Te voy a dar dónde màs te duele) Lucha knows that the kids are her vulnerability. Daniel promises to keep them safe.

WE'RE GORGEOUS BUT WE'RE NOT SHALLOW
Elena and Pablo are back home. The bullet just grazed his arm and he is fine. She tells him exactly what happened. They both know Rad was behind it. Pablo says Rad never understood that he and Elena love each other for what they are, not what they look like. Elena has an idea -- she knows the perfect way to avenge this outrage.

The following morning, we find that Elena has not been miraculously cured. She still flinches at Pablo's touch, though all her hostility is gone. She wants to get past this and he is going to help her. Pablo calls Daniel to tell him what has happened. He says he's tired of subbing for him as chief -- Dan will have to take over at the AFIAD.

Dan and Lucha guess that Pablo is with Elena. They are happy about that even though now they won't be able to spend the day together. But Lucha is very worried about the children. Today they are due back home -- and Olegario knows that. She's afraid he'll try to hurt them. Dan asks her to move into his place with the kids so he can keep them safe. It will be a little crowded, but it's only temporary...

TRIPLE H AND BROKEN DREAMS
Genaro passes out, tequila glass in hand, leaving the disgusted (and disgusting) Olegario talking to himself.

Parte 3

GOING TO THE CHAPEL ...
Sor Milagros comes upon Dr. Marina. The former Sor Loser says she was seeking peace. She opens her heart to Mili. "Have you ever been lonely?"

I WILL SURVIVE
"Here I am, Radamés." Elena announces her presence to the moribund meanie. "You didn't manage to harm me," she tells him softly.

THE MORNING AFTER: HOW MANY CLICHES CAN YOU FIND IN THIS PICTURE?
Carlos and Deya are happy as clams. But he is still worried about how to deal with her past. She tells him that is her problem, not his. They can't change it. They can only live in the present. And the future? They can build it together, one day at a time. "I love you so much Deyanira -- of course I'm willing to try."

GET OUT!
Radamés is seriously dying now. He barely has the strength to croak out a ¡Vete! Estás muerta! She tells him she is no ghost: she is more alive and healthier than ever. Those men couldn't harm her because the love of her life saved her. Now she beckons to Pablo. He enters the room. "Thanks to you, we are closer than ever," she says. They kiss. "Noooo" croaks Radamés. "You'll never be together!" With his last bit of strength, Rad grabs at Pablo.

AFIAD
The boss welcomes Danny back to the fold. Dan's priority is to capture Olegario Marrero.

HOSPITAL CHAPEL
Marina tells Sor Milagros about her broken heart -- her unrequited love, her humiliating pursuit of Daniel, her failure as a woman. Milagros understands pain, loneliness and estrangement from God. She tells her own story, how she wanted to be a "saint," but when she worked with real human beings and got to know the face of evil, she turned cynical and pessimistic, intolerant and judgmental. Of course people detested her. Mili envied Sor Amparo because everyone loved her and respected her. Not that Amparo was perfect... "But how I miss her." She was "la luz de Dios," and she illuminated the world for them with her joy and strength. It is for Amparo that Milagros is changing. And as she changes, she meets people like Marina, people with their own light. Marina is a child of God, on of his favorites. Soon Marina will know the certainty of God's infinite love. (I would be worried, but that's just me.)

MAN TO MAN AT THE AFIAD
Rodríguez seeks Daniel's advice on how to win over León.

ARE YOU STILL HERE?
Radamés is still croaking his maldictions. "Rot in hell," he tells Pablo and Elena as they quietly leave him to follow his own advice. Once outside the prison, Elena feels free of a great burden of fear and hatred and free to love Pablo.

I WANT TO BE A GENTLEMAN -- IN 2 EASY LESSONS!
Daniel suggest chocolates or flowers or ... maybe write something. "That's it!" exclaims Rodríguez.

IS THIS YOUR LAST BREATH?
Radamés remembers Elena's words: "What you managed to do was bring us back together."

HUNG-OVER AT THE TRIPLE H
Nuria brings strong coffee to the human wrecks, Genaro and Olegario. "What day is this?" asks the latter. "Saturday." And then Olegario remembers -- today is the day Lucha's kids come home! "Let's go!"

WHAT, YOU AGAIN?
"I can't breathe! Help me! Elena! Nachito! Ahhhh." Radamés subsides.

End of Episode

NovelaMaven: Does it get any better than this? I nominate today's recap for the Caray hall of fame. You're just spinning out one stunning phrase after another and all tied together with a pop song theme!

"rolling, muscle-bound gait", "Queen for a Deya" oooheee! I'm squealing with delight ! you're on a roll today.

"wiggle his eyebrows up and down" hilarious! but he'd need a haircut first to remove that mop from his forehead.

I guess it was a good idea for Elena to plummet to the depths of psychotic non-feeling. She found her emotional strength when the tables turned. A flesh wound for Pablo! How opportune!

"the moribund meanie"—he sure took his time!

I share your concern for the petulant Marina. How soon before she "will know the certainty of God's infinite love..."

Amazing how these two psychiatrists are learning from "simple folk" what really matters in life.

OK, 2nd cuppa coffee and I'm going back to read it again.

Great recap, as usual NovelaMaven!

"Soon Marina will know the certainty of God's infinite love. (I would be worried, but that's just me.)"
Lol, we always knew she was on borrowed time.

-El Señor EC

Anyone available to recap this Friday? My sister's birthday is Friday and I'm babysitting my nieces. No time for multitasking with 2 young ones.

NovelaMaven, thanks in advance for your early post. I missed last night's episode due to my spanish class but i get to read your recap on my way to work.

Spanish student

NovelaMaven

Ding Dong, Radames is dead, FINALLY. I also wondered about the stripped sheets. Too funny!

Thank you for your usual fine work.

AnonGringa

SpanishStudent I'll take Friday for you if nobody else wishes to take a crack at this. Please weigh in all you recapper wannabes. This is your chance. But I'd like to confirm by end of today, so I can plan the time.

You aren't going to believe this, but I actually own that very set of striped sheets. Imagine my shock; not sure I can put them on the bed ever again.

Just noticed my typo-STRIPED, not stripped sheets,
but hopefully they stripped the bed and BURNED them after his passing. AnonGringa

Muchas gracias a todos! I'm so glad you are able to look past the ragged edges of the recap.

LXVThanks so much for picking up Friday!

As for those sheets, I think you need to put them in the Goodwill bag right now!

"A flesh wound for Pablo! How opportune!"
Indeed!

"I guess it was a good idea for Elena to plummet to the depths of psychotic non-feeling. She found her emotional strength when the tables turned."

Yes. And she was 'reborn' when Radamés finally died. His death was necessary for her renewal (just as Olegario needs to die before Lucha can be truly free -- or Marina needs to die so El Señor EC can be vindicated) ;-)

Spanish student
Enjoy your time with the kiddies! Thanks for giving us advanced notice about Friday's recap.

AnonGringa
Well, they probably SHOULD be burned, but I suspect those stripped striped sheets will cover many future miserables.

"Ding Dong, Radames is dead, FINALLY."

I know. He sure took his time. Now we need a house to fall on Lily, though I suppose the next one to go will be either Genaro or Nuria.

Any bets?

I like "stripped striped sheets",NM. Also, I agree that
they will probably save the biggest fish for last.
AnonGringa

Take-out was....ta da...comida china. But we only saw styrofoam.
Pablo, what a strong guy, such a tiny band-aid.
Rad, appropriate send-off.
"Queen for a Deya," ha! Writers may well have gotten punchy and decided to "let it all hang out" with Deya/Carlos in the colorful sheets.

Genaro or Nuria next to go? Genaro must have some big plot function with the way his various "disses" are being emphasized.

Love theme, I'm hoping against hope the Grand Final doesn't have everyone pairing up in Noah's Ark fashion.
What was that with Chelo and Neno the other night? No random pairings, please. Adriana and Octavio, maybe [good call whoever that was.]
Is there any candidate for a strong woman moving forward on her own? Marina is so unsatisfactory -- tho they seem to be trying to redeem her -- and Sor Mili doesn't have much choice.

Novela Maven, your warm words reached up to the Peanut Gallery. Thanks! And thanks for another transcendent recap.

Clara

Clara, a woman after my own heart: "Is there any candidate for a strong woman moving forward on her own?..." I've been rooting for Lucha, but that's a lost cause and I admit I'm beginning to tolerate that love interest of hers—but really, they are poorly matched; he's not the galan I would have chosen for her She's so big and ballsy (if you'll pardon me) and he's such a chipmunk. Sor Mili's made her choice: she's married to Christ, so there. And doesn't Marina still have an anvil hanging over her? I admit I was surprised to see her in the chapel, but it seems to be part of the rehabilitation scheme for effete, out-of-touch professionals to be hobnobbing with the superstitious peasants who actually believe in God or something.

If Elena's not too old yet, she & Pablo would make some fine lookin' kids.

I want Genaro to have at least a taste of victory however Pyrrhic, for all he's had to tolerate from the trash he associates with.

Thank you LXV!

Great recap, NovelaMaven! Can't wait to see the episode tonight. And, yes, I'm looking forward to my time with the kiddies.

Re: the bet, Genaro or Nuria. I've always considered these 2 the most likely to strike a deal with the police in order to save their own behinds. Since Genaro has done more harm than Nuria, and has been hinting at betrayal for some time, perhaps he should meet his maker next. It may not happen but I've always seen Nuria as a survivor. I'd take those expensive dresses Diabla promised her and get the hell outta town.

spanish student

Clara

ooh, was it comida china? Thank you! That makes me like Danny a little more.

Sorry, LXV and Clara, but we're already boarding the Ark. If you had any doubts, surely last night's episode neatly dispelled them.

"What was that with Chelo and Neno the other night?"
I'm hoping it was just a way to show us that their hearts are still open to flirtation and maybe even to love. (Will Neno get his giant bear back? Or has Deya already eaten it?)

"Genaro or Nuria next to go? Genaro must have some big plot function with the way his various "disses" are being emphasized."
If we're going utilitarian here, Nuria should be putting her affairs in order.

OTOH, as Spanish student suggests:

"Since Genaro has done more harm than Nuria, and has been hinting at betrayal for some time, perhaps he should meet his maker next."

LXV

"I want Genaro to have at least a taste of victory however Pyrrhic"

Well yes, if that would involve wiping the smirk off Liliana's face, if only for a moment as she realizes she's been had.

AnonGringa
" I agree that they will probably save the biggest fish for last."

Interesting. El Diablo Marrero is definitely the biggest fish, but is he the biggest villain in the story?

From Lucha's perspective, maybe Lily's betrayal is the worst and the most enduring, so SHE is the biggest villain.

But Olegario has been Daniel's nemesis forever. From Danny's perspective, Oleg is the biggest villain.

Twin monsters to be slain before we get our fairytale ending...unless, of course, the writers have something else in mind. If they MUST sacrifice one more "good" person, let it be Marina. (In the course of some heroic gesture, saving the kids from the Devil, say.)

Nuria or Genaro?

I say Nuria. Why? Because she has joined the Lucia-has-to-die chorus. Genaro, on the other hand, is talking about surrendering. I think he may have something to do with that mysterious envelope that no one has opened as yet.

But on the other hand, Nuria has to be alive for the battle over the kids, Roxana is her niece, afterall. And Genaro has to die because he has killed enough people.

It will be Marina. lol

-El Señor EC

"I say Nuria. Why? Because she has joined the Lucia-has-to-die chorus."

Point well taken, Señor EC. (And I hadn't considered Genaro being responsible for the mysterious envelope.)

Nuria and Genaro are both so very rotten, but because I think Nuria is more annoying, even if less lethal, I hope you are right.

NovelaMaven

I forgot to give you the back story on Melquiades.

Daniel was beginning to suspect El Diablo and Liliana had something to do with Cesar's murder, so they framed Melquiades for the murder of Millan, the undercover officer who recorded the video of Liliana killing the informant, Miguel.

Melquiades was a member/leader of Los Zodiacos. By doing this, they knocked Daniel off their trail and got rid of a rival at the same time.

When Melquiades was being transferred from IFIAD to prison, he slipped Daniel a piece of paper and said that if he died, this information would be key to taking down his enemies.

Genaro, of course, told El Diablo about it. Melquiades was killed in prison, and I never heard anything about that piece of paper again.

-El Señor EC

El Señor EC

Thanks for providing that excellent, detailed backstory on Melquiades. I was completely unaware of that. (I either didn't see the episodes, saw them and didn't understand them, or kind of understood them and forgot them.)

It's always disappointing when a plot thread like that is dropped, so let's hope that's not the case here. Maybe the contents of the mysterious letter will be revealed on your watch and it will all tie in.

NovelaMaven

A little more detail...

Anselmo took Millan's already decomposing body from where ever they had dumped it and put it in a dumpster.

Then he and someone else (El Diablo?) went to a bar where there was known snitch and talked loudly enough for the snitch to hear about Melquiades killing this cop and putting the body in this dumpster.

The snitch ran and told Daniel. Daniel found the body and arrested Melquiades. But Daniel suspected that it was all a bit too tidy.

Melquiades of course denied killing anyone and Daniel offered him protection if he would tell what he knew. But he declined saying he would deal with El Diablo in his own way.

-El Señor EC

Thanks a bunch, Señor. I think YOU'RE the one with the great memory!

NovelaMaven, for additional listening practice, I replay the audio from all the weekly recaps over and over again while I'm riding my stationary bike. That's why the entire story is fresh in my mind.

-El Señor EC

El Senor EC, wow. Appreciate the background. That must have been while I was refusing to watch the violent bits.

LXV, I do remember your earlier comments about wanting to see Lucha move forward on her own! Especially in light of Dan's extreme cruelty to her. And yes, Lucha has so much presence, while "Chipmunk" Dan is puny in comparison, both physically and emotionally.

Maybe all our baddies will go out more or less contemporaneously in a hail of bullets. Not in front of the kids, I hope. Oh wait, still 9 epis to go.

Clara

the Miserables

NovelaMaven- do you know that your recaps leave some people speechless,
it was perfect!

Los Miserables
Capítulo 111, parte 1 de 5

La Bodega
Olegario is getting dress to go get Lucia when she goes to pick up the kids. He says Lucia is his wife. Genaro, looking like he's cold, reminds Olegario that the marriage was false and he doesn't even care about the kids. Olegario says Genaro is a coward because he wouldn't go with him.

AFIAD
Rodriguez has a plan to woo Maricela – a trail of rose petals to some room. He's got lit candles and all. He covers her eyes as she enters the room. When she opens her eyes, he has a bouquet of roses and a small gift box. I'm not sure she's impressed. Behind her is a banner with perhaps the least romantic proposition: Quiero contigo dámelas ya. (I can't quite make sense of it.) She storms out disgusted.

Hotel Faraón
Liliana comes to the Bolivian's room dressed as a worker. The have champagne. He wants her, she toys with him. She pulls a strawberry from between her breasts and feed it to him. (I wonder if it is poisoned.)

Kids bus stop
Lucia and Helena chat while waiting for the kids to arrive. Helena is concerned that her son, Nacho, might turn out to be like his father. Helena sees a guy watching them. Lucia tells her not to be concerned, he is protection.

AFIAD, Daniel's office
Maricela and Rodriguez argue. Rodriguez can't understand why Maricela was not charmed. He thinks he did everything right – he even consulted with others in the agency. This sets Maricela off even more, because everyone doesn't need to know about them. The phone rings and Daniel walks in. It is news that Radames has died. They wonder why he didn't leave them some kind of trail or info to help them. Then Daniel remembers the unopened envelope. He opens it and reads it.

I, Radames Echeverria confess that I... did lots of bad things, money laundering, extortion, drug trafficking with Marrero. Here is a key to a safety deposit box where you will find all the documents necessary to accuse Marrero and accomplice Liliana. If you want to catch them, go to this direction and you could catch them all. Tell those traitors that I am waiting them in hell.

Hotel Faraón, lobby
Liliana continues to toy with the Bolivian – but we only just met... Everyone in the lobby looks like someone just died. Yes, the woman beating criminal boss is dead, and everyone's sad because they might not have a job. This news does not trouble Liliana and the Bolivian. They are still living and enjoying life. Genaro is skulking in the background following them.

Kids Bus Stop
Helena and Lucia are still chatting. (I am bored. I notice that Lucia is wearing those pants that you all find so reprehensible.) Helena realizes that Pablo loves her unconditionally, but she doesn't feel she deserves him after being raped. Lucia assures her that she does deserve him.

The bus arrives. The kids are all excited. Lucia kisses them and says that all her kisses are for them. Olegario shows up, what about me? No kisses for me? You thought you could get away from me that easily? No, when you say forever, it is forever.

La Bodega
Nuria returns from food shopping. No one is there. She decides to go out and hears sirens. Daniel and team shows up busts open the door. Nuria is hiding around the corner.

-El Señor EC

Los Miserables
Capítulo 111, parte 2 de 5

Kids bus stop
Lucia sends the kids off with Helena. Olegario says he can't forgive her for tricking him. She tells him he tricked her first. He killed his brother, Camila and her mother, and who know how many more to trick her. He did it all for her. In love and war anything goes. Lucia says she will never love him because he is a bad person. He pulls a gun and tells her to be quiet. The plain clothes cop draws his gun. They face off. Lucia puts herself within Olegario's reach to tell him not to shoot because of the kids. Olegario grabs her and makes the cop drop his weapon. Olegario demands to know why she won't love him. Pablo arrives with his gun. The plain clothes cop recovers his gun. Olegario releases Lucia and takes off running behind a stone wall with Pablo and the plain clothes cop (Ramirez is his name) in pursuit.

Hotel Faraón
Liliana and the Bolivian return to the room. Dispite her brave face in the lobby, she is agitated. She knows that Radames would betray them if he knew he had nothing to lose. She tries to call Nuria.

La Bodega
Daniel and team busts in the door and find no one there. A cell phone on the table rings. It is Liliana. They will retrieve all the contacts from the phone.

Hotel Faraón
Liliana receives a call from Nuria, who is on a payphone. She tells her the cops have found the hideout. Liliana was right, Radames betrayed them. They have to get out of there. Out in the hallway, Liliana sees Genero skulking around. News that's they've been discovered trumps his jealousy. They have to get out of there.

Parque Cerro next to the bus stop
The chase continues. Olegario hides behind some rocks. Pablo can't find him. Daniel calls to tell him they found the hideout. Pablo tells him what's happening on his end. Daniel is coming to help. Olegario makes his way out of the park and robs someone of their car to make his getaway.

Daniel's apartment
Lucia has brought the kids there and sits down to tell them that much has happened while they were away. She found the usb drive and now knows why Roxana was scared of Liliana. Memín and Roxana tell Lucia the whole story about the night when they followed Rockie and Liliana killed him.

The new hideout
Liliana and Genaro takes the Bolivian and his men to some unfinished location. It has water and electricity. The Bolivina doesn't like the idea of hiding. As far as the Mexican government knows, he is a foreign investor. He tells Liliana she is radioactive, she can stay there in her rat hole with her trained puppy and call him when she's ready plan the hit.

Parque Cerro
Daniel arrives as they continue searching for Olegario, who is not there. They realize that they lost him.

Los Miserables
Capítulo 111, parte 3 de 5

Daniel's apartment
The kids continue telling Lucia the history of the usb drive, that if they told her, Liliana would kill her. She hugs them.

La Casa Duran
Helena and Nochito come home and meet Ignacio and Fernanda. All smiles around. After Fernanda and Nachito leave, Ignacio tells Helena that Radames died. Helena feels relieved.

Un cafe
New best friends Octavio and Adriana are chatting. (I don't like these two together. It seems forced.)

La Casa Duran, Nachito's room
Helena tells Nachito about his father's death. Turns out he knew what kind of person he was, including his relationship with El Diablo. Memin and Roxana had told him. He does not want to be like his father.

Driving down the street
Olegario receives a call from Liliana. Liliana tells him not to go to the hide out because Faraon ratted them out. The cops are listening in on the conversation, trying to pinpoint his location.

Los Miserables
Capítulo 111, parte 4 de 5

Driving down the street
Olegario is still on the phone with Liliana. She tells him to get rid of the phone or they will trace his location. He throws it out the window.

AFIAD
They lose the signal before they could track Olegario's location. They have to suspend the search, but sooner or later they will catch him.

Un cafe
Adriana and Octavio. (yawn) They accidentally kiss on the lips. Inexplicably jealous Abel saw it. He and Octavio face off for no reason at all.

La Misericordia, Dr. Mallorca's office
Gonzalo receives the good news that he does not have Parkinson's disease. Yeah! What he has is an inoperable brain tumor. Oh. He realizes that he might have a much quicker death.

Marina's office
Helena has a session with inexplicably still alive Marina. Helena feels at peace. She thanks Marina for her help.

Daniel's apartment
Lucia is still wearing those pants. The kids are hungry and start fighting. Lucia asks them if they're not ashamed to be fighting in front of Octavio and little Vicky.

The new hideout
Genaro says it is time to get new fake papers, rent a car and leave. Liliana says that without the merchandise, she is going nowhere. Besides they have to pay the Bolivian what they owe him. El Diablo enters. He agrees with Liliana. They are not going anywhere, and they have to get rid of Daniel for good.

-El Señor EC

Los Miserables
Capítulo 111, parte 5 de 5

The new hideout
Liliana asks Olegario if he will let Lucia get away with making a fool out of him. He tells her to be careful what she says. She responds that the truth always hurts. They must get rid of Lucia as well as Daniel. He tells her to do what she wants, but do it now. She smiles at Genaro.

Daniel's apartment
Lucia, Octavio and the kids set the table. After the kids go off to watch cartoons, Octavio asks Lucia to forgive him for treating her badly in the past. He says Vicky would have loved to see her happy as she is now. She says almost happy. She won't be completely happy until Olegario and Liliana are behind bars to pay for all the crimes they've committed. (She has forgotten how easily people walk out of jail.)

Marina's office
(Marina is STILL alive? What do we have to do to kill her?) The consultation continues. Helena thanks her for what? It was Pablo's love and Radames' death that liberated her and brought her back to life.

Daniel's apartment
Daniel arrives. The kids are happy to see him. He is no longer el policía malo. They sit down for dinner. Roxana offers grace. Things are just too perfect.

The new hideout
El Diablo, undressing, says Ponce may have won this battle, but not the war. He is wearing a bullet proof vest under his shirt. He will kill him very slowly.

-El Señor EC

I am sorry it took so long to get the recap posted. I got out of bed really late today.

Estimado Señor EC

Thanks so much for this great and oh so funny recap!

“Quiero contigo damélas ya” Hah, “unromantic” is an understatement. (I’d say it means something like “I want (to do it) with you — give it to me now.”) Evaristo is such a doofus.

“I wonder if [the strawberry] is poisoned.” I had the same thought!

This is so perfect that I had to quote it intact:

”Un cafe
Adriana and Octavio. (yawn) They accidentally kiss on the lips. Inexplicably jealous Abel saw it. He and Octavio face off for no reason at all.”

So wry. So funny.

As for poor Gonzalo’s diagnosis, we don’t really know if the tumor is inoperable. We’ve certainly seen miracles before under Misericordia’s probably leaky roof…

”Helena has a session with inexplicably still alive Marina.””(Marina is STILL alive? What do we have to do to kill her?)” Poor thing.

”Lucia is still wearing those pants.” Hah! I didn’t even notice the pants last night.

El gran final looks like it's going to be two hours long (or at least my television thinks so).

No need to decide right away, but maybe start thinking about whether you want a piece of the recap (I know El Señor wants in, right?) Since the broadcast is on Tuesday, we can post on Wednesday starting at 1pm EST, say, in the order of our parts. We just need to know how many people are writing so we can divvy up the episode.

Even though not everyone watches on television, do you all see the breaks in the episode?

El Gran Final

NovelaMaven, I didn't say that I wanted to do the final! lol I just didn't want to be the one responsible for doing the final, if it fell on my night.

What I meant when I said we should all do the recap was that we should each do a recap of the final to see the different ways we interpret the same events.

But dividing it up is fine also. Timing might be an issue though. You would be able to do your part by midnight, but it could be another 12 hours before I could get to my part, as I have to wait for it to be posted online.

I don't know if the breaks in the episode, as shown on TV, correspond to the breaks as posted online.

-El Señor EC

thanks -El Señor EC!

I liked the new hideout being at some "unfinished location".

El Gran Final

Oops, just saw that you said starting at 1pm. Ok, I no longer have that excuse. lol

-El Señor Ec

Thanks, El Senor EC.

I enjoy your wry, concise style. I observe you expressed no opinion on Lucha's "reprehensible" pants. Somehow, they seemed more tolerable with a solid color, non-cleavage displaying top.

"Things are just too perfect." So true.

El Senor EC's idea about different takes on the finale sounds intriguing to me as a Peanut Gallery reader. But that is a lot of duplicate work, especially if it's two hours. Looking forward to whatever you guys decide!

Clara

El Señor EC Thanks for a great recap. i just love your unadorned deadpan rendition. It makes the whole thing more hilarious!

I also wondered if that nice warm strawberry was poisoned. I'm still wondering. El Boliviano went off to his own smug security, abandoning his hapless confrères in their newly acquired, albeit unfinished, HHH. Perhaps Lil used the same slow-acting poison as they gave Radamés.

"New best friends Octavio and Adriana are chatting....It seems forced." I agree it does, but since I don't like either of them very much, who cares? except Abel, perhaps?

Nachito (is that a small nacho?) "He does not want to be like his father." I'm just starting to warm up to that esquincle.

"inexplicably still alive Marina" LOL! "Helena thanks her for what?" I know, I know, one or two sessions of her whiny mumbling but I don't call that a treatment plan?

"Lucia is still wearing those pants." Where do you even get pants like that? I, for one, noticed and was very annoyed. But I agree with Clara. The top was a mitigating factor.

We really don't know anything for sure about the brain tumor except the other doctor did say its location was rather dicey. And that's the same guy who was optimistic when they thought it was "just" Parkinsons'. Gonzo's response to the films was not a good sign. But as NvMv says, we can (and should) expect a miracle. (I'm beginning to revise my optimistic outlook on Lucha's possibiliites for the miraculous pregnancy because of her insistent remarks last night about how she loved these little vagabonds as her own & how all children are a blessing yadda yadda.)

NvMv Evaristo IS such a doofus. Clueless. Shoulder shrugging I would add to Gum Chewing as his specialization.

I keep trying to get this comment written since 2PM, but the client keeps needing her hand held every 5 minutes. GAAH!

As for recapping the final I'll go with whatever the group decides and will always defer to NvMv's seniority and experience in these matters. But the idea of doing the full recap appeals to me. I think I can block out the time; it's worth it to me, because it's our last hurrah for one of the best novelas in a long time. AND it will give us a ton of entertaining reading to carry us over to whatever's next. I'm sort of intrigued by La Bilblia but have no desire to recap it.

I meant the plan of several of us doing the whole enchillada instead divvying it up. If it comes to a vote, that's what I would choose. I love the idea of reading everybody's take on it. Then there's less chance of a detail being missed, misunderstood or ignored. Yes, I'm that greedy.

I think I'm going to step back and let LXV and El Señor come to an agreement about covering the final. I am here to support, cheer on, fill in, etc. Use me as you need to.

OK, let's put it this way, I'm going to TRY to do the whole enchilada, with the understanding that others will do either the whole show or the parts they like. If I collapse halfway through, it could be a problem, so I am counting on some backup in whatever form it comes. But it would be nice if others would commit to part or whole, so I wouldn't feel alone in this enterprise (remember, I'm still a newbie at this). And I'm going to miss this group when it's gone. We have a week to figure it out. Thanks for your stalwart support NvMv. I'm getting ready to party!

And lest we forget, I'm on for tonight!

Ok, I'm going to do the whole thing also. And it will be my final recap for a looong time. But I love reading the other recaps. You guys are very good at it. So, let's all get onboard. :-)

The very next day, I will start re-watching from capítulo 1. Maybe in 120 days or so, I'll start following another telenovela. I really liked this telenovela and will continue to watch it and study the dialogues to learn all the vocabulary and expressions they used. This is the reason I watch telenovelas in the first place.

-El Señor EC

El Señor EC
So glad we're on the same team! I still watch Alborada (I've seen it 6+ times) on a set of CDs that's starting to deteriorate after nearly 10 years. I wish I were a quicker study, but writing the recaps has definitely made a difference. I listen more closely now and force myself to make the effort to "get it" rather than just letting thing slide by and guessing. You've been an inspiration (and by the way, I also ride my stationery bike for an hour every night while I'm down cellar watching the TN and getting the laundry done.)

LXV

Awesome to hear that we're doing the same thing! It is so important to do more than just watch. After I finished my first telenovela, about 180 episodes, me di cuenta que I did not learn anything. Now I transcribe some of the dialogue and read it out loud. This forces me to learn new words and expressions - like "me di cuenta que".

-El Señor EC

LOS MIZ Capitulo #112, viernes 13 marzo parte 1

DANNY'S BIG BED
It looks like early morning with the blue light in the windows. Lucha & Danny are wrapped in a sweet embrace (she's wearing a lucious pink satin nightgown with heavily embroidered lace bodice). They discuss poor Roxanita and the horror she's suffered at the hands of Liliana. Lucha's scared that Lil and Oleg can hurt the kids. (and she's right!). If it weren't for the Law, Dan would kill them both with his own hands.

Dan admits how much he loves her. She's just happy they're all under the same roof together safe and sound. Octo's baby is heard crying in the next room. Lucha gets up, while Dan the chipmunk's thoughts turn darkly to Olegario. His cheek muscles tighten as he thought bubbles "I'mna get you."

THE NEW HHH
A surreal interior with odd orange lighting and bizarre furnishings. Liliana is in a near stupor slumped onto a white satin tuck'n'roll fainting couch. Gen wants to know what she's been up to. She say's whaddyou care I just want to feel good. He says well it's not working because you look terrible. She limply waxes triumphant to the increasingly twitchy Genaro about that bastarda Lucha; that she knows how to fix her, her head nodding as in a trance. She passes out. Gen philosophizes. "It won't be long now before you'll get what you want." He very dramatically covers her with a large blanket. The scene looks like a bare theatre stage where they are workshopping some absurdist 60s play.

LA CASA DURAN
Ig & El welcome Pablo. Fern is frosty (what's up with this; she still needs an attitude adjustment after all that's happened?) Pablo has brought flowers; El just kvells. He's also brought a futbol for Nachito who is sulking up in his room. Pab goes up and commiserates about losing his own dad when he was young, but hey, you know what? I thought it was all over, but I was wrong. He's in my heart like a guardian angel looking after me. Nacho has a different story to tell: his dad was bad. He accepts the gift, they bond over the ball, but then; "you gonna marry my ma; you're not going to hit her are you?" Nacho warns Pab that he'll be watching over her so watch out. They shake on that with a nice hug.

MISERICORDIA
Luch & Dan se besan in the corridor. Yes, they have an audience. Deya, Carlos, Mili, Gonzalo ...and Marina. In front of the assembled company, Dan proposes! Woo-hoo! Cheers all around except for Marina, who glowers. "Besos! Besos!" Sore loser Marina stomps off; Dan goes after her. Lucha feels bad; Sor Mili says "she'll get over it."

Marina ends up in the chapel; pathetically, she admits her mistake to Daniel. He's sorry, but the truth is he loves Lucha. She weeps alone. Her new best friend, Mili comes to comfort her.

THE NEW & NOT IMPROVED HHH
This place is even messier than the last one: torn sheetrock, waste barrels, grafitti, Diablo, Gen & Lil confer

First things first; we gotta figure out exactly where the drugs are located, says Oleg, now wearing casual denim and pouring yet more alcohol into his system. Gen's all for getting strategic, figuring out the playing field and determining the cop's movements. They're going out to reconnoiter, but Lil has a more important errand of her own. "No me vas a regar?" (you're not going to screw me, are you?) says Diablo to Lil. They'll do the drug run; she'll do Lucha, she says with determination, hands on hips.

HOSPITAL, MARINA'S OFFICE
Lucha offers understanding. Marina says "No way, get out of my space."

AFIAD IN D.F.
Dan, Pab, Leon & Ev hold a strategy session. If they're gonna get Marrero they have to think like him. He's used to winning, but now he's taken a hit; he won't act in his usual pattern. They have to be extra vigilant if they're gonna get him

LOS MIZ Capitulo #112, viernes 13 marzo parte 2

AFIAD (IN VERACRUZ?)
Diablo & Gen lurk outside around the corner where they spy on the four armed guards across the street. Oleg's more worried about how many are inside. Gen figures there are at least 2 checkpoints and about 10 more guys inside; we're going to need an army. It's risky, but Gen knows the inside dope; every 6 hours they have change of the guard. And with the numbers against them, daybreak would be the best time to attack.

HOSPITAL
Out in the Hallway Where Everything Happens, Deya & Lucha gossip about Marina's plight, when Gonzalo, distracted & wobbly, staggers up and faints. They carry him to a chair.

LA ESCUELA
The schoolyard is full of red-sweatered kids running around at recess. Roxi approaches the fence and gasps. It's la mala bruja Lili. She cries out in alarm. It appears Lil had pulled a gun out of her purse, but the fence kind of concealed it. Memín rushes up to her followed by a couple of teachers. Lil tucks the gun away and beats a hasty retreat. "Curses, foiled again!" The male teacher watches her closely from behind the schoolyard fence.

HOSPITAL
They loosen Gonzo's tie and hoist him onto a gurney. His colleague, Mario the brain specialist, orders scans. Luch gets a call; she's off and running. [I gotta say when I was a nurse, we didn't just leave our shift when we got a phone call; in fact the only phones around were payphones out in the lobby].

AFIAD
The squad tries to anticipate next moves: "Diablo is a wounded animal who's trying to save his skin" He HAS to recover the drugs to regain power, etc. Pab says Oleg has never been in such a tight spot; he surmises that el Diablo is scared. Pab says,"he's gonna go after you, Dan."

Lucha calls with news of the schoolyard threat; Dan splits without a word of explanation.

LA ESCUELA, PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE
(continuity alert: unless Lucha keeps her entire wardrobe in the locker room at work, she is wearing a different dress in this scene than the one she wore when she arrived on her shift.)

Roxi thanks Memin for saving her. Lucha rushes in to rescue her kids; they explain & Lucha, with tears in her eyes, applauds their bravery. They also give all schoolchildren a PSA about screaming out loud when they are threatened. And furthermore, there's strength in numbers. Dan arrives and gets the lowdown. If Lily hurts the kids it's because she wants to hurt Lucha.

THE NEW HHH
Nuria flips magazine pages; Lili marches in. Nuria's reached her limit and starts to chew out Lil for not playing with the team; and I'm about the only friend you've got left. Lil breaks down and confides, "I've had it, with that miserable de Lucha!" Nuria's solution is tequila.

LA CASA DURAN
Ig welcomes the red-sweatered kids with Lucha—he's happy they're there. "What's up hija?" Lucha says "Lil came to the school with a gun." Fern, persistent in her denial, defends Lil. "She would never do anything to harm the children." Luch spills it out; Abel confirms. Poor distressed Fern runs offstage followed by Ig. So Lucha tells Abel about what happened to Gonzo at the hospital.

THE NEW HHH
The girls booze it up with a lot of evil strategizing about guys & getting what you want; they are tenuous allies in this, when said guys show up with a bunch of Bolivianos. Diablo barks orders: Nuria get us some drinks; Genaro get the gear together, batteries, maps...step on it! Nuria & Gen, the perpetual servants hop to while Lil continues to lounge.

LOS MIZ Capitulo #112, viernes 13 marzo parte 3

AFIAD
The squad discusses Lil's attempt on the schoolyard. They still haven't figured out the location of THE NEW HHH; speaking of which:

our squad of delincuentes is planning the operativo for esta noche. Genaro struts around with the basement floorplans all rolled up like a baton. Lil says, it's all gonna go perfect. The head Boliviano has doubts; he thinks it's all too complicated. Oleg does his best to deter this guy's dangerous pessimism.

AFIAD
Our guys are after un Pajarito to "sing" for them. We see Dan getting total body coverage in fake gang tats and a nose ring. He's going under deep cover—so deep he needs shoulder-length wig and a baseball cap to hold it on with.

BACK IN THAT SAME OLD HOSPITAL CORRIDOR OF OPEN WOUNDS & SORDID SECRETS
Chelo just happens to be sitting around cooing at mini-Vicki when Neno chances by. And why are they are not on familiar terms yet? He breaks the ice. "And this baby?" "Mi nieta." Oh my, you're a grandmother? ...and a widow; he seems a bit nonplussed, but not for long. Gotta hand it to this guy; he's a sweetie. He sympathizes with her burden in life.

EN LA CALLE
So Dan's out there pretending to be a gang member; he engages with some clowns in a lowered car; I guess they must be prime suspects because Pab & Ev arrest them and haul them into the stationhouse.

AFIAD, IN "THE BOX"
They question these guys using the same head-smashing interrogation techniques we've seen before.

HOSPITAL
Mario, the specialist has BAD news. The tumor is actually malignant AND aggressive AND the chance of recovering from surgery is about 50%. Abel, standing in the doorway, overhears, enters and voices his (completely unsolicited) support. "Do it, risk it, Gonzalo." (Don't they have privacy laws about disseminating personal medical information without consent.?) Oh well, I suppose it's all for the best, because after a bit of self pity & self righteousness they both come around.

The gay issue comes up; and Gonzo wants to know the depth of Abel's sincerity. He questions Abel's motives: are you here for sympathy, or what? Abel avers his love. "I just wanna be with you." Gonzo confirms his worst fears; Abel cries; they hug. I think this is going to work out nicely.

SOMEPLACE WITH A CORRIDOR, A SLEAZY APARTMENT BUILDING
Dan & Evaristo bust in with guns. They find a bloodied guy tied to a bed. They promise to get him out of there and all fixed up.

HOSPITAL
Neno is still schmoozing Chelo & the baby. Deya can barely stand it; so she butts in. She's ambivalent, but hugs the baby & makes nice. Nurse Nancy calls Chelo in for her appointment leaving Deya with her former flame. She confronts him, warning him not to mess with Chelo, she's already suffered enough; with your background you could really hurt her. (Pot meet kettle) He's protests, "You've got me all wrong. I admire her and really like her"

ANOTHER PART OF THE HOSPITAL
Dan, still in his bizarre disguise, comes to visit Pajarito, who they rescued from that blood-stained bed. This guy's all messed up. Dan promises they'll get him to a detox and fix him up in exchange for the info they need. The guy's hit rock bottom so he has nothing to bargain with. OK, so what do you know about personnel in the Cartel del Norte? Pajarito rats out the big Boliviano, who is known as El Rey de las Telas, meaning the King of Cloth. "So then, is he in the D.F.? Pajaro nods. I don't think he's long for this world. That nose ring is making me ill.

LOS MIZ Capitulo #112, viernes 13 marzo parte 4

THE NEW HHH
Lil complains to Nuria that Dan's got bodyguards on Lucha & those little brats. How's she going to get at them? Nuria says no wonder the police in this country aren't worth a s***; they're all out protecting their girlfriends.

These two put their heads together and Lil figures out the kids must be hanging out at Dan's place. "Why didn't I think of that before?" Uh-oh, Nuria doesn't want any part of this; Lil says "who else have I got?"

HOSPITALCORRIDOR
Dan's still sporting his ghetto garb is on the phone; he's telling Pablo something about a textile business being a front for money laundering. The guy's name is Fidel or "Bebo" Gomez (this must be El Rey). He's pretty sure they're hiding out in one of the best hotels in the city (but not the Faraon?) Carlos stops him: what's with the disguise?

OUTSIDE OF DAN'S BACHELOR PAD 'N' DAYCARE CENTER
Nuria, lurking around in a black wig, sees Octavio escort the esquincles inside and calls Lil.

AFIAD
Pablo & Leon confirm the identity of the Textile King, Bebo Gomez. He's from a big manufacturing family in Bolivia, but all his income is from exporting cocaine. The clothing factory is a front for exports to LatinAmerica, US & Europe. But his profile appears clean; evidently he's got lots of political leaders on his payroll. Pablo thinks with this much power and influence that Interpol would have profiled him. And his team is checking out all the 5-star hotels in town. They're on it.

THE BEST HOTEL IN THE CITY (EVIDENTLY NOT THE FARAON)
Pab waits in a dirty alley for disguised Dan. He wants to know why Dan hasn't changed his appearance yet. No time, says Dan (Hmm I wonder what this means). They've recognized the Big Boliviano in the lobby. He's upstairs now with 3 of the biggest drug dealers in the D.F. Dan & Pab need to get a judge's order pronto. But there's no time. They have to act now.

Gomez has got his customers upstairs, testing the powder. These impatient goons aren't exactly thrilled about having to wait for la merca. They want it now. The Boliviano is smoothly (but nervously) telling them mañana; I give you my word, when the AFIAD squad bursts in and breaks up the party.

LXV
What a luxury to settle in on a lazy Saturday afternoon with your splendid recap. When I know you are on deck, I find myself watching with you, imagining how you are seeing what I see and how you will describe it. When the scene suddenly shifted from the Chipmunk's thought bubbles to Lily on the fainting couch, I was almost beside myself with anticipatory delight. (And "chipmunk" is exactly right!)

"The scene looks like a bare theatre stage where they are workshopping some absurdist 60s play."

I single out this line, but I adore the whole description.

"El just kvells"
Ok, that cracked me up. And like you, I find Fernanda's frosty stance impossible to understand. Didn't she have an epiphany (or three)? Isn't she past this crap? (Same goes for Abel and his pettiness in the presence of Adri and Octavio -- aren't we past that?)

"Out in the Hallway Where Everything Happens"
Hahaha, yes. Perfect.

I thought Dan's disguise was pretty good (in the sense of convincingly grungy and lowlife) until he got to the vinyl wig. Oh well. The costume did the job.

So Neno and Chelo may be a thing after all..

And Abel is taking on the role of pillar of strength for Gonzalo (You heard it here first!) in this hospital that never heard of patient confidentiality, [not to mention patient security.]

I suppose we can expect the remaining episodes to be full of EXCITING chases, HEART-STOPPING peril, and the TRAGIC sacrifice of a soldier or two (are you listening, Sore Loser?) on the way to victory for the just and the good.

Muchísimas gracias, LXV, for sharing your talent with us.

NvMv
Thank you for your delightful comments. The pleasure is mine, particularly when I have such a welcoming and enthusiastic audience. Your appreciation means more than you could know.

I'm totally gung-ho for all kinds of action as this thing winds up.

LXV, your snappy recap brightened this dreary day. Thank you!

Yes, "deep cover" failed to disguise Dan's essential chipmunk nature.

Continuity alert, good catch LXV. I did not notice Lucha's outfit, but I have been distracted recently by the great variance in the width of her grown-out dark brown roots from scene to scene. They go from about an inch to about 3 inches and back again.

Neno, what a charmer! Neno should be giving Evaristo his caballero lessons. And if the Ark is filling up with couples, a Gonzalo and a Abel deserve a spot on board.

Maybe a typo LXV? but thanks for putting the "e" in "Sore" Loser. Okay, I am dense, but in my defense, you sort of need to say it out loud.

Yay! Mil gracias to both LXV and El Señor EC for stepping up to cover the Gran Final. Every nuance will be well and truly captured, and with style.

Clara

Thanks Clara, you brightened my day with your comments. i did find myself comparing the darks roots on Elena as against Lucia's last night. Does that make me a shallow person? Glad to have someone else in my club. Your observation about how they go back & forth only reinforces my understanding of how grueling are these actors' schedules. They have to be shooting all the time to give us our daily fix and I'm sure the scenes are shot all out of sequence.

And that "sore" was no typo! LOL

NvMv: "So Neno and Chelo may be a thing after all." Yes, you said it; And the Ark is starting to fill up. Now that Abel has finally fallen into Gonazalo's arms, I suppose he's going to stop badgering his old lady and the "not dry behind the ears yet" Octavio.

Excellent recap, as always.

"THE BEST HOTEL IN THE CITY (EVIDENTLY NOT THE FARAON)" Yes! There is more than one hotel in Mexico City. Now if they would build another hospital.

-El Señor EC

El Señor EC : "Now if they would build another hospital" ¡jejeje!

No shortage of HHH's though...

[You can't just build a set like Misericordia on the studio back lots]

Misericordia is a real enough place. They obviously scouted that location for its unique qualities. But it reminds me (painfully) of the "old wing" of the hospital where I did my nurse's training back in the early 70s. No air conditioning, all that brown varnished woodwork, no mod-cons like monitors & oxygen. It felt like the 1930s. They've since torn it down.

Yes, Misericordia is a real place. And it is a central focus of the story, almost, if you will, a main character in the story.

(The sweaty reality of the hospital resonates with me too.)

Televisa is often very good about using locations like this while Telemundo is notorious for its Miami studio productions that feel so ungrounded that the characters could be anyone from anywhere, gringos who just happen to speak Spanish.

The clever use of Mexico City in this production -- and in particular, the old hospital -- is one of the reasons (though not the only one) this feels like a higher quality than we normally see from this network.

I am not sure about my availability to recap this week, because I just got roped into being the stage manager for a show that opens on Friday, and there is a ton of stuff to do - stuff that should have been done in the past 2 months.

But I am still on for the final episode!

-El Señor EC

Thanks for the heads-up El Señor : I'm still planning to do Monday night this week. But that will be it for me until the following. Good luck with your show "break a leg"

thanks so much lxv for your recap, you really do have a talent for these things, they are always so delightful to read.

yes, that stage scene was bizarre, with Lili fainting away on her white fainting couch, with her still faithful Genaro watching over, were those mirror balls hanging from the ceiling.

what's really odd is that Lili and Genaro have already totally betrayed Olegario, even killing his right hand man Anselmo, but since they need each other, everyone is making like that didn't happen.

Thanks to everyone for the awesome recaps. It does seem that Chelo and Neno will end up together at the end of the novela; but I wonder, what became of the taxi driver who was in love with Chelo?

La gata negra

Hey gata negra, his name is Ramón and I wondered that myself. They never told us where he went. He was a sweet guy and sweet on our Chelo. Thanks for joining the conversation

and deb you're so right about that; boy do you have an analytical mind; I plain forgot that part of the plot.

La gata negra

I'm glad to see you commenting here and glad of the reminder about that nice cabbie Ramón. Since El Señor EC is the one who has really been paying attention, maybe he can shed some light on the whereabouts of Ramón. Like you and LXV, I'm just left scratching my head in "Whateverhappenedto-Land."

deb, our baddies are real back-stabbers, especially Lily, but they are also supremely pragmatic. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

El Señor EC

Thanks for letting us know about next week. Good luck with your play!

A todos
So our coverage is kind of thin for the coming week, huh? I'll do what I can, but I can't make any promises. It's going to be a tricky week for me. If I do Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the recaps will be shorties.

About Ramón

I don't think Consuelo was ever really into him. His role was just to help her move forward after Gastón hooked up with Nuria. Besides, if I remember correctly, he is still married. His wife wouldn't sign the divorce papers.

-El Señor EC

Thanks, Señor EC! Such an excellent memory! So then Ramón is out of the picture as a suitor for Chelo.

I'm recapping Monday night.
