Stumpy gets found out! La Sombra del Pasado #30 03/30/2015

Recap is done!

Renato is such a doll:

In the towns restaurant Aldonza is with Renato, she tells him that she needs his help but she has to warn him, she is going to be fighting against a very powerful enemy. Renato is down to help and Aldonza tells him very clearly that she appreciates his willingness to help her but that he should not confuse things: he is there as her friend and attorney-nothing else. Renato tells her he will be there for her no matter what and maybe someday things between them will change...Aldi (Aldonza) again tells him that she is not ready to have a relationship with anyone.

Candela is a witch:

But we all knew that, sadly poor E-man keeps encountering her and she takes every opportunity to be a b*tch to him. E-man came over to the big house to speak to Cristobal, instead he finds Candy who lies and tells him Cris is in bed, because unlike others he gets to bed at a decent time, she sends him away and makes sure to tell him not repeat his error again. Poor E-man, I hope that someday he stabs her in her sleep.

Cris is of course not sleeping, he is waiting for E-man to bring him an update on Aldi, Dominga finds him and asks him if he wants something to eat. He says no and asks if E has come around, Dominga tells him "nope". Emmanuel and Cris totally need cell phones-cell phones with passwords and then they could text each other all the juicy Aldi news. Cris tells Dominga that Emmanuel was going to bring him some news about a few umm horses, but Dominga is on to him and knows darn well that that's not the truth, she even asks in a round about way if maybe E-man was going to bring him news about a woman, Cris denies it. The phone rings and Honey Boo Boo, I mean Valeria is on the other end of the line, she wants to speak with Cris but he signals Dominga to tell her he is asleep, Val requests that Cris go visit her the following day.

Dominga is worried, if he is avoiding Valeria now what will happen when they get married and have to live with each other? She tells him that she has a bad feeling about the way things are going and Cris gives her a tender hug and kiss and tells her she should go back to the kitchen because he thinks her beans might be burning.

Legend has it...

That if you walk alone at night a grumpy grandfather will be jump out of the shadows and warn you against hurting his beloved granddaughter, at least that's what Melesio did to E-man, he saw him and Mari together and he tells Emmanuel that they looked way too cozy . E-man tells him that Mari is all over him like white on rice, like a frat boy on a drunk co-ed, like Bill Clinton on a chubby staffer, well you get the point. He tells Mel that he will clarify to Mari that he is not into her, and Mel tells him he better not hurt Lola, or else.

Elsewhere, Lola prays to the virgin Mary, she hopes Mari has not stolen that drooling fool also known as E-man from her.

Uriel and Irma and their children from hell

Uriel, Irma and Mari are sitting down for their evening meal of tamales, Irma asks Mari to take some food to Big Bird (Abelardo) after they are done. Mari is a total witch and says she's not anyone's maid and that she is tired of Big Bird and all the problems he gets them in. Uriel tells Mari she will do what her mother asked and that's final. Irma takes the opportunity to ask Mari why she told Dominga that Lola had stolen her boyfriend. Mari says she only spoke the truth, she knows E-man's heart only beats for her and tells her parents to get ready to set another spot at the table because she is going to bring her boyfriend home soon.

Aldonza and Renato have finished dinner, he tells her he will look over the contract when he gets back to his room and Aldonza wants him to charge her for his work, he won't do it and so they agree to disagree.

The next morning E-man and Cris chat, E tells C that it looks like the rumors are true, he found Aldi hugging the guy that came into town with her. Cris tries to brush it off and says that he won't ruin what he has with Valeria over Aldonza.

At Uriels house Val shows up to check on Big Bird, BB lies and tells her that Cris beat him up not because he fought with E-man but because they argued about Aldi. Val asks BB to help her get rid of Aldi, "you want me to kill her?" he asks and Val tells him not to be an idiot, she wants him to seduce Aldi, and when I heard that line I laughed and laughed and laughed, as if this clown could get anywhere near Aldi. B*tch please. BB agrees but he wants something in return...kisses for starters, eh I would have asked for a life long supply of Cheetos but that's just me.

Val and BB start to make out and are almost caught by Mari, in fact I'm almost certain that Mari saw them making out, or knew something was up because Val jumped out of the couch like her hair was on fire.

Candy visits Pru and tells her she needs to mend fences with Humberto, for their kids sake, her argument is that if Pru continues to be mad at Humberto it will make it easier for Aldi to get her claws into him. She also suggests that they have a party to announce the upcoming wedding to the world.

When she gets home Candy starts calling people to invite them to the party, when Cris overhears her a whole argument breaks out, he wants her to stop meddling and she tells him she's doing this for Val who loved the idea of a party and if he wants to get out of it he can call the people she's already called and tell them the party is off.

Lola is sad out about E-man and Irma (a wise woman) tells her she can't give her any advice, Lola says she understands and asks to be allowed to leave for a few minutes, Irma allows this and Lola goes to the local store to look for chocolates to give E-man. The woman at the shop tells her she has something very special and gives her a little gingerbread house that has been around for forever and a day, Lola later gives this to E-man and I hope he does not eat the candy cause that's a sure trip to the ER, Mari sees Lola and E-man leave together.

Aldi and Renato make a good team, while having some tea she tells him that she is going to get revenge on the man that ruined her mothers life, and when she tells him about one arm Sev, Renato tells her he knows who she is talking about, he says he saw Sev with a woman who he doubts was his wife. They make a plan, Aldi goes to the hotel with him and goes to the woman's door pretending to be looking for Renato, when the woman opens the door Aldi gets confirmation that Sev is cheating on Candy, she and Renato believe this information could be useful in the future, they leave the hotel and walk right in front of Cris who now as seen Aldi leave the hotel with Renato.

Irma is looking for a deposit she brought home from the store and can't find it. The reason that she can't find it is because BB stole the deposit to pay back a thug, but it is not enough money and I savor the beat down he's gettin. Sev watches the beat down and eventually yells at the thugs to stop. Booo, you whore, is what I want to shout at Sev, the beat down was fun, yo!

You are da bomb, Eli!

My burning question - How damn old was that candy house?

Sara- Right! Uhm, does the lady at the shop swap out the candies inside the candy house every few weeks? Is it magic candy that never gets stale? Is it meant to poison your lover so that you can stick by their side and nurse them back to health?

And is this some new plot? Seemed weird to me.

The mystery candy house maker seems to serve some purpose. We heard a voice but saw no face. I think we just need to file it away in the back of our minds for now. The only older dude near shopkeeper's age is Melesio. Could Mel have had a love triangle with her and Dominga long ago, as Emmanuel has with Lola and Mary?

Thanks Eli for opening up the discussion. Hope everything is ok in your world.

I love Alexis he is such a great actor, his expressions and acting are superb. However, I scratch my head because I just don't see how in the world he causes such unbridled passion in women. If he was my husband, well I guess I would probably be like Candy around him. I just don't find him sexy or hot at all. Well, I was intrigued by the mysterious person voice by way of the candymaker. Sure seems like that is going to be another side story. I just don't like Val at all, I sure hope Chris doesn't marry her even if he doesn't end up with Aldonza. She is certainly getting under Chris's skin. Few more episodes and he will probably be proclaiming his undying love for her again. Emmanuel knows since Chris confessed that he felt they were soul-mates, and so does Dominga. I don't know who Aldonza will end up with, she has two very good choices, Renato and Chris (not quite yet though).

Novella lover - maybe it's the ascot and horseshoe pin that's driving the ladies wild. :)

Novella lover-In honor of the ACT premiere, I am sporting a new picture. I made note of what I did.

When you go to your blogger profile, there is an option in the right hand corner to "Edit Profile". Click on that and it takes you to a page where you can add a picture. The option for adding a picture is about halfway down that page.

Let me know if you need any help.

Novella lover, funny but Severiano has been on my mind this morning and I too cannot fathom what makes those women want the guy. Cande marrying him (he, with no assets, Roberta killing her own husband protecting him and Simoneta begging for a spanking. Especially, with one arm he has the grace of a one elbowed roller derby thug.

Abelardo arising passion in Val was sick too.

Biggest leap for me the last two nights is the Renato/Aldonza relationship. If I believe what we were told, that they were acquaintances but Aldonza had sealed herself off, giving no encouragement to potential suitors, their behavior (especially hers) toward each other speaks otherwise. If I saw them together at dinner or on the street I would assume they were lovers and more lovey dovey than Cris and Val who have known each other for decades.

Last night Renato made my alarms go off. Aldonza made it clear that there would never be a romance between them and he accepted it too easily and claimed that if friendship was all she was offering then he would take it. He better not go all jealous dark.

Can't wait Eli! I need some cheering up this morning and I know your recap will be a delight to do that.

Face it folks. How many times do we see some not so great looking famous billionaire, sport star or power leader standing with a stunning woman and we all go "How the h***?" It's that power thing. But what I don't like seeing and the woman needs to shake some rocks loose, is a woman being abused and pushed around and then thinking that's ok and hot. I need more of Simonetta's story, but that whole bedroom scene was awful.

And yes, giggled myself stupid with the candy house thing. Can I say right now, I actually feel sorry for E-Man in this tug of war? He's going to be in a sugar coma between these two woman.

Daisynjay

"... sugar coma..."

Now I'm giggling.

I completely agree about the bedroom scene. I've seen TNs employ that abuse is hot theme a lot. I'm not a fan of it. Only time I was OK with it was with Ivana and Rosendo in STuD. She was no innocent victim.

Ok, you guys, I'm now onboard with this show. I needed a new one to watch after Mi Corazon es Tuyo, and I will not be watching another Televisa comedy for a long while, that one burned me and soured me. And when I realized that there is nothing good on the slate for a long while to come, someone mentioned that this show was pretty good. Since it is still in it's infancy, I decided to do a marathon watch/read and I'm up-to-date and ready now. My only problem is I can't watch it in real time and I can't record it either. I might subscribe to Hulu+ so I can get it a day late.

After doing my marathon, now it's on my mind a lot, kind of like reading a good book that you can't put down. It's very good so far. I tried to read some of the comments on individual episodes but there were too many in the time I had to get up to date, so forgive me if it's been discussed already. So here are some of my thoughts so far;

I think the best way that Aldonza could have gotten back at Severiano would have been to tell his son what he did to her, and that's the reason she was leaving town. She didn't need to go to the police, they wouldn't have believed her over him, but it would have soured his relationship with his father, and that would have been the best revenge ever. But I know that there wouldn't be the show if she did that.

It's sad that Adelina just lets everyone make life decisions for her and just goes along with what others want to do, as if she's a child.

I think that Renato and Cristabol look similar.

Welcome aboard, cathyx!!

I like the way you described this show "...kind of like reading a good book that you can't put down."

So true.

Just remember: Renato is the one without the hat.

Wildly Off Topic (Please forgive me)

For my own amusement I am compiling a list of acronyms and phrases commonly used on Caray (things like TBLMOE and all the show acronyms.)

Since many of you have much better recall than I do, would y'all mind sharing what you remember?

My e-mail is in my profile if you want to email me so the thread stays relatively on topic.

I, took was doing a head-scratcher over the whole mysterious candy-house thing. And I hope E-Man doesn't have any loose fillings...

There was a nice moment in the stable last night when Chris followed E-Man on his chore rounds as they talked. Pablo Lyle reached out and stroked the nose of that white horse as they passed. It was so sweet and spontaneous...*sigh*...

Oops...should read: "I, too"

Looking forward to your take on this, Eli.

I thought it was funny when Renato and Adelanza walked out of the hotel where they had found out Sev had a lover, walking arm in arm, she says that appearances are important, and Cris sees them apparently being very close.

Maybe Cande has sagging facial skin and is taking care of this by her ultra tight hair braids. It looks tight enough to cause ischemia.

David

David, that's a hoot! So much fun to crack on Cande's braids!

Welcome, Cathyx!

Like y'all, I thought the channel had changed by itself with the old candy house thing. Yuck! That's sounds disgusting and E-man's smile looked a little queasy to me!

Catch y'all after the marvy recap!

Lila

Hi all!

Vivi - I agree, my first instinct about the candy house was Melesio. But he and Dominga are rock solid and have been forever. Plus, didn't the lady say she never understood why the mystery man left town?

Hi Cathyx! Wlcome aboard. I'm thinking of going back and watching MCET, but I"m not sure. I LOVE Silvia, but TN comedies aren't really my deal. Would you recommend it?

I was wondering about the allure of Sev, but I think I get it. It's power, like Daisynjay said, power and confidence. Sev is sly (which can be read as intelligent) and successful. He doesn't let things defeat him. He lost his arm, but he kept it moving. There is something attractive about a man who has goals, goes after them and achieves them. If you're the object of his affection, I'm sure it feels great, so I get Cande's attraction. I'm not sure about Simoneta, because the abuse would trump the confidence and make it arrogance for me, but it takes all kinds.

Val better watch herself. If she and Abelardo get sloppy, and she keeps treating Mary like a minion and Emmanuel like a peon, Mary could turn on her.

Do you think Sev will make Lardo fess up, or leave the accusation on Cris and pay off Lardo's debts so he can hench freely?

Everytime I see A-Brat's face on this TN, I still HATE the woman!

She's wreaking havoc & causing chaos.

HellaShelle, I like Mari turning on Val. Val's not as "smart" as I thought and I'm glad. I hope they don't have too much kissy face going on between her and Cris now that I see where Val's mouth has been. I don't see Mari ever befriending Aldonza but I could see her providing a final straw to break Cris and Val up. Val's a slug. Yuck!

Yah. Sev needs a lackey. He'll prolly pay off the thugs and use Lardo for his own purposes. Looks like between Val and Sev Lardo may be "gainfully employed." Lard is scum. He and Val deserve each other.

Lila

Eli, can't wait to hear your take on some of the shenanigans from last night!

Here's your candy tip for the day--keep it in a cool, dry place. Chocolate, even when it looks funky, doesn't "go bad" easily. I still wouldn't want to eat 20-year-old chocolate if I had any other options, but, you know, in case of zombie apocalypse might as well go for it.

I missed a few minutes.I saw Vile and Lardo kissing on the couch ..bleecchh. Did they do the deed before Mary came in ? Vile and Lardo deserve each other. I hate their arrogant smirks. Yuck-

Sara, I had the same thought about Renato. It would be nice if he really meant what he said, but I still don't think I've ever seen it go that way. Same with Emmanuel--I'm just waiting for the Eau de Protagonista to drive him to jealous madness.

lol, cathyx, this show is a bit addictive! Welcome to the patio :D

I really disliked Mari standing out on the sidewalk stomping her foot. Is it too unkind to say that when one's reaction to disappointment is to stomp one's foot on the ground like a child, that perhaps one is not old enough to be having any kind of romantic relationship?

Oh..and ..I would pass on the 20 year old candy. Is giving elaborate candy as a gift a thing in Mexico ? I am midway between Godiva and Hershey factories. The Peeps factory (Just Born) is also nearby. I know that flowers are often given as gifts. So..you think the anonymous Candyman might become a storyline ?

Diva..I think footstomping is a helpful device to make one's ponytail swing..so that we can buy the 40year old as a 20 something.

I am also looking forward to the recap Eli!

I'm scratching my head at the candy house of questionable vintage. Hmmm. Em looked like, well, a kid in a candy store. I doubt much was made of him or his birthdays and I think he really appreciated the gesture.

I have been very high on Renato. I did not understand that "Aldonza made it clear that there would never be a romance between them" (thank you Sara).

I suspect (no spoiler) that if Cris and Val do marry Aldonza might change her mind? Sara, I hope Renato has nothing but the best intentions (?).

Here's the thing. I've said before that Sev needs to die before Cris and Aldonza can be together. I'm not convinced that even should that occur, that Aldonza would be able to live with the fact her boyfriend/husband's father raped her.

Great comments today. I have to timidly say though that I think Alexis is kinda hawt - not the character certainly but the man.

Diana

ya, know when Abelardo was crawling up on Val he looked like a monitor lizard.

Diva-I don't think I need to know that chocolate doesn't go bad easily. I have no shame. Now I know funky looking chocolate might be ok....and I'll probably eat it. You know...if there's an emergency.

OMG yes, Lila! Vile and Lardo deserve each other!

"... anonymous Candyman..." Sounds really disturbing to me. *shudder*

Since we are making timid declarations(™Diana)--I am growing weary of both Lola and Mari. E-man deserves more mature ladies.

Diana- I can sort of see Alexis's attraction....

O dear sweet baby cheezes! Lardo DOES look like a monitor lizard (I just did a google image search.)

With a little confidence, E-Man would give Renato and Cris a run for their money with Aldonza and not have to fool with Lola or Mari, both act like they're 14.

I guess that this candy house thing went over my head last night
The way that I saw it was that Lola wanted something special or the best that the store had. The candy lady then went into the back room and brought out the candy house which Lola loved and off she went to send Emanuel on his way to the dentist.
All of this talk today about who made it or how old it was never even entered my mind. Maybe it had just been made and had not been put out on display yet. Or maybe it was in the latest delivery from the stores supplier.
However all of that seems of little or importance to me. She bought a nice fancy item and gave it to Emanuel---that's it punto.
I didn't see any money change hands though. Was it buy now and pay later?

So Aldonza tells Renato that it will never go any further than friendship. Ok but then they walk down the city street arm in arm like two young lovers. QUE?

What was with the Lardo beat down?
Did he owe money? Was Sever behind the beat down in some way?
He sat there smiling about it. Why?

Mama Cande yelled at Cris and gave him the phone and then stomped out of the room. As soon as mama had gone, Cris put down the phone. What was that all about?

The advances---Did Sever find out that Aldonza had rented the hacienda and was making threats about it?
the gringo

I hope the story line goes in the direction of just who Cande is. Like Lo in TSTSNBN, I suspect that is a telenovella in itself. I am still hoping Aldonza and Renato become a thing.

Best TN yet, but really do get hooked on just about everyone I have seen.

Make that every one

Ah emeralod rose. We really are two PAs in a pod, separated at birth:

"... but really do get hooked on just about every one I have seen..."

*sigh* So do I. And I pretty much start to watch anything that comes on (and with my cable package it's a lot.)

The only way I can "give one up" is cold turkey and never look back on it...or I end up falling off the wagon.

So what if Lola does act young? She's sweet.

A terrible thought. Lardo gets Val pregnant and she swears that she is pregnant from Cristobal and so the marriage must take place right away. Well, I hope that it's nothing more than just a terrible thought.
the gringo

You and me both, gringo!

Hey brother gringo, you're gonna haf ta wait for the recap. It'll all make sense.

E-man could so leave Renato and Cris in the dust courting Aldonza. Did you see how sexy he looked just casually leaning against the stable wall? Lean and virile!!!

And Sev is a handsome man and he carries himself like he knows what he's got and how to use it. As far as what the "ladies" see in him, most of that is behind closed doors action.

That said doesn't change that he is scum of the earth that must DIE and NOT be Cris's bio dad. Just my two cents!

Oooops! That's me above, Lila!

EXCEPT

We're still pretty sure E-man and Aldonza are half-siblings...

aren't we?

Yeah, I think they are, just used that as a comparison of sexiness thing -- it's good they relate like bro and sis.

I didn't like how Cris laughed at E-man when he mentioned his woes of the heart but E-man listens patiently and respectfully to his whole Val/Aldonza dilemma! No fair Cris!

Lila

Thanks for explaining that, Lila. I confess I was not paying close attention last night so I really thought I missed something.

Sara, can I sit at your table on the patio, 'cos I'm sort of with you on the two "high schoolers" fighting over E-Man. He's too sweet, and rather innocent, to be in the middle of this. It's not endearing Lola to me either in what is starting to look like a game of one-up-manship.

And the other thing I enjoyed last night...watching the great bromance with Chris and E-Man and they were actually working. That horse is the one Chris rides, and looks like they have a great rapport. That was a sweet touch.

My first thought when I saw Renato overhearing Sev and then digging into him...oh no. Dead man walking! Make it NOT so writers.

Daisynjay

I didn't mean Aldonza for E Man but she seems to be the girl all the boys want and believe with confidence E Man would really have his choice.

I thought the exchange in the barn between Cris and Emmanuel very similar to what I'd see between my older brother and his close friends. A combination of merciless razing, finishing each others thoughts (and jokes) and fierce loyalty. Sometimes I would be shocked the things they would say to each other and they would just laugh. Never had that with any of my girl friends, if one mentioned I had lipstick on my teeth after that hot guy walked away I'd go into a tail spin.

Lol, susanlynn, is that all it takes? And here all those women are investing in cosmetic surgery when all this time all they needed was a swinging ponytail :p

Watching Mari and Lola in action is confusing. Do twenty-somethings really act like this? Or just in Santa Lucia where twenty is the new twelve? I mean...fighting over a boy and using chocolate candy as your weapon of choice? And then we have Valeria and Aldonza who are also supposed to be around the same age. Valeria's hunting methods are a bit more...sophisticated?...adult? I get why Aldonza's not interested, but why do Mari and Lola not seem to have anything resembling a sex drive? It's only Val, the designated Bad Girl, who is portrayed as having needs. I find that unrealistic.

About the candy house . . . CrockPotTheory™
-Didn't that mystery man put a big honking diamond ring into that house, too? Or did I dream that?
- What if it was meant for the shop lady but she never looked inside? So the poor guy felt rejected and left town?

So Sev is busted by Rendonza. Woot! I can't wait for them to use that to their advantage.

OOoh, 'Lardo does look like that lizard. Eeeew. I don't like reptiles.

I hope Val has had her shots.

I figured the thugs were beating up 'Lardo because he didn't pay all the money he owes them... maybe for gambling or drugs.

doris, I'm going to laugh my ass off if Emmanuel actually eats that house, finds a diamond ring inside, and panics!

Kat - wouldn't that be a hoot?!? That's what I'm counting on.

Sara, if you have to do the Solataire Daily Challenge after the Caray Caray blog and with the second cup of coffee, we truly were separated at birth.

Am looking forward to watching La Sombra tonight. I thought when Sev walked into the hotel room and grabbed what's her name with his arm, and kicked the door closed behind him, that was quite a trick. May have to watch that one again and also look for the diamond ring being slipped into the candy houses. Missed that.

Close emeraldrose! 2nd cup of joe with Candy Crush Soda. I will check out Solataire Daily Challenge.

I wondered about the ring too.

Daisynjay-I'm scooting over and making room for you.

Don't get me wrong. Lola and Mary are sweet (Lola maybe a little more.) But I get enough of adolescent girls at work. And the fact that Cris, Val, Aldonza, Lola, Mary and E-man are all supposed to be somewhat the same age, but Lola and Mary are acting 10 years younger!

Of course, if that ring is STILL in the candy house, and Em finds it, and thinks it's from Lola, and tries to give it back to her, then the inevitable conclusion to that will be that she thinks he's proposing.

I don't even know if that would annoy me or not.

That would be kind of funny.

For Kat, it would annoy me becuase they emotions are mainly on Lola's side. And E-Man, being the gentleman, and frankly afraid for his job because we know the old folks will be all over him to not be fooling with Lola will not necessarily back off if she misunderstands. Only hope is that Dominga will be all "hell-no" and not allow it and he'll get a chance to explain.

Don't get me wrong, if Lola grows up a bit more, if you know what I mean, and E-Man genuinely falls for her, then no problem.

Daisynjay

It's hard watching him bumble along being so passive. I don't want Lola stuck with him just because he's too wishy-washy to ever say "no." She deserves romance.

I'm telling you it's AdP Gael all over again!

why do Mari and Lola not seem to have anything resembling a sex drive? It's only Val, the designated Bad Girl, who is portrayed as having needs. I find that unrealistic.

Hey, yah! That's so true! Only bad girls want "it"?! o_O

Oh well. I guess I'll be over at the Bad Girls table wearing a twirly skirt and ogling the shirtless men.

Ooh, part I! Gracias, Eli! Good point about the cell phones. I'm sure Emmanuel makes enough to afford one, but he probably thinks he'd have no one to call. How small is this town, anyway...I wonder if he and Cris could use walkie-talkies instead? Or just string up some tin cans....

Not sure who was pondering the source of Sev's irresistible attraction for women, but agree that, for many women, power and confidence do it more than looks. However, oh mama, Sev has those droopy bedroom eyes... Let's see: "He's a killer." "Yah, but those eyes." "But he's a killer." "And your point is...?"

J in Oregon
Where the eyes have it

I don't really *mind* looking at Sev...if he would just sit there...quietly...and not be doing anything evil....

I don't like nor think Sev is hot, now, PJ is another matter all together.

Men of the Cloth Minus the Cloth 2015 calendar.

Thank you, folks, I'll be here all week...try the chicken...and don't forget to tip your server....

"...why do Mari and Lola not seem to have anything resembling a sex drive? It's only Val, the designated Bad Girl, who is portrayed as having needs. I find that unrealistic."

If Mari and Lola have not tasted of the prohibited apple tree . . . they might not know what they are missing. Val, instead, probably invented the apple.

"Men of the Cloth Minus the Cloth 2015 calendar"

WHERE do I buy one??? ;-D

Why do Lola or Mary seem not to have a sex drive? They both are trying as hard as they can to rope a man. Neither one has succeeded yet. Remember a few episodes back, Lola gave Emanuel a kiss that he will never forget.
Why not just give it away? Because neither of them are in Val's low class.
the gringo

There's nothing wrong with enjoying sex. It's not the sex that makes Val bad, she's bad because she's a manipulative spoiled brat.

"Men of the Cloth Minus the Cloth 2015 calendar"

WHERE do I buy one??? ;-D

I believe you can pick those up at the Naughty Melon, 555 Caray Caray Drive, Dios Mio, State of Constant Shock 12345. Store by day, bar and grill by night. Coffee and chitchat on the patio in the mornings, drunken dancing/laughter on the patio at night.

I really like Renato and Aldonza. When he met her at the cafe last night, he was on his phone talking to the firm where he works in el DF. It made me think that they'd be good together. They're both smart young professionals, taking care of grown up business, like jobs and house rentals (and maybe vengeance). I hope Cristobal demonstrates himself to be made of similar stuff.

Well, I know Cris has a degree in business. And he says he doesn't want to work on the family ranch because he doesn't want anything handed to him...but he doesn't recognize the irony of being totally ok with taking advantage of his parents' hospitality and financing of his wedding and doing absolutely nothing to get any kind of career of his own off the ground.

If he wanted to stick around the ranch, that would be ok. It's the inconsistency that bugs me. Dude's got some growing up to do.

To "Men of the Cloth ... etc," I would add the padre from QTPD. Very chulo, but no brains ... just the type for beefcake calendars. LOL

A manipulative spoiled brat?
A low classed manipulative spoiled brat I'd say.

Cande has some nerve! First she plans an "engagement" party without Cris's approval, or even knowledge, and then when he refuses to have anything to do with it, she gets all bent out of shape and orders HIM to call everyone and UNinvite them! He should've snapped back, "Your party, your friends ... YOU do it!" Then walked away, leaving her with the phone in her hand and la palabra en la boca!

Yep. And the engagement party taking place, what, a week? before the wedding? Who does that? There's no logic to this. Candy thinks this is somehow supposed to show "the town" (otherwise known as Aldonza) that Val and Cris are a solid couple? And she needs to be shown this because Aldonza is just like her mother...who had an affair with Sev when they were both married to other people, so...yeah, an engagement party. Perfect plan.

I think Cris said that he has a job lined up in the city, which is why he and Val wanted to marry in three months, rather than in a year or something.

I don't know that it's that weird to stay at his parents house or that they're paying for the wedding, since he doesn't actually have a job yet and they're millionaires. If they had told him they wouldn't (which I"m sure they would have said if he'd been marrying, say, Aldonza) and he had gotten indignant, then I think he'd be out of line, but the current setup doesn't seem that strange to me.

Thank you for the recap, Eli! My fav line:
".kisses for starters, eh I would have asked for a life long supply of Cheetos but that's just me."

Really! I'll take Cheetos or Doritos over 'Lardo any day. I think I would rather kiss a monitor lizard. And I hate reptiles. ;-)

"I believe you can pick those up at the Naughty Melon, 555 Caray Caray Drive, Dios Mio, State of Constant Shock 12345."
BwaHahahahaaaaa~! Good thing I had no beverages or food in my mouth when I read that, Hellashelle!!!

Helleshelle, I do not recommend MCET. I recapped it because I love Sylvia and Jorge Salinas, but I won't ever tune into a show with bad directors even if the cast is stellar. Sylvia actually doesn't do comedy well, Jorge does everything well.

Diana, I'm with you on the theory about Sev needing to be dead before Aldonza marries Cris.

I'm probably just bitter about not being rich :p

It is, totally normal. It's just slightly hypocritical of him to say he doesn't want to be handed stuff...while he's being handed stuff. He probably sees things like paying for his education, housing, wedding as somehow separate from whatever business empire he hopes to establish, but really it's their financial support that's enabling his "independence."

If we have an episode where Renato squares off against Sev, would it be called the Ren & Stumpy show?

I'm still sympathetic to Cris's plight. Everyone speaks in riddles to him or lies including his parents. I have no doubt he could move away and have a career and has resisted the family business. Aldonza, hasn't a job, hasn't looked for one, and living on what her mother left.

Aldonza telling Renato he'll never have a shot is a lie to herself and him. They'll be a couple and the relationship is budding as we speak. Cris's relationship with Val on the other hand, you can hear the death rattle.

Lol, Doris. I hope Renato's legal training has taught him how to have all his evidence gathered and irrefutable before he confronts his, uh, foe.

Thanks for the recap Eli, I have a question though. When Aldonza knocked on the hotel room door and the woman answers the door, how did that go down exactly? Did Aldonza see Sev in the background and if so, did he see her too?

tofie, poor dude doesn't even realize he HAS a plight yet.

I was hoping we'd hear more about Aldonza's plans yesterday. Maybe tonight. I still think it has something to do with using her degree to revive the melon patch.

Gracias for parte 2, Eli! The beatdown was satisfying, but how ridiculous was it that they dragged him past Sev in his glowing-in-the-moonlight WHITE SUV with the headlights on. Incompetent little criminals! If they're ever going to get anywhere, they might need to be a little more aware of their surroundings.

cathyx, Sev wasn't there. They were just trying to confirm that it wasn't his wife in the hotel room.

Thank you Eli, I'm greatly entertained.

"Booo, you whore, is what I want to shout at Sev, the beat down was fun, yo!"

Kat, very good point, Cris doesn't know, gets a whiff, but naw, the suburban cowboy, clueless. Hate to be him, he's accumulating an immoral debt simply for being the child of Severiano and Cande, which he can never pay.

He keeps coming so close to the truth...and then he gets distracted. He's going to feel so stupid when he finally figures it out.

Thank you so much, Eli!!

I was partial to this line:

"and when I heard that line I laughed and laughed and laughed, as if this clown could get anywhere near Aldi. B*tch please."

HellaShelle, while I liked MCET, it was long winded, infuriatingly stupid at times and some of the actors flat could not pull off funny. I agree with cathyx, JS did a great job, SN not, in a comedic role, and I especially appreciated Mayrín Villanueva, she was so despicable, yet funny. It seemed more a forum at times for Osorio's buddies and at others a commercial.

Thanks Eli---That was a big help.
A life long supply of Cheetos? LOL

So Lardo stole the stores deposit money to pay off the thugs that he owed money to. Sev should have let them beat him a little more.
Irma seems nice. How did she end up with a son like that?

So it was an old gingerbread house
Well it looked nice anyway and if Lola had given it to me, I would have been happy because I know that Lola unlike Val, only has good intentions. I have said it before, Lola is sweet, she's a keeper.

I don't care what Cris says, his actions speak louder than his words. He saw Renato and Aldonza walking arm in arm last night. That will get him going and I don't mean toward Val.

4 hours to must see TV.

I watched the tail end of Una Familia con Suerte and liked it, but I didn't feel the need to watch another Osorio production again. I feel like I've dodged a bullet.

The few times I peeked into MCET, it looked ridiculous to me, but then I really kind of liked Amores con trampa last night.

I think cathyx makes the best point:

"...but I won't ever tune into a show with bad directors even if the cast is stellar."

The more I watch TNs, the more I think the producer/directors is more important than the cast.

If you want a good comedy that was actually funny, watch Que Pobres Tan Ricos. That was worth watching.

I will never watch another Osorio or Mejia production as long as I live. No matter who is in it.

Those two are on my list too, cathyx and I add Latoodle-oo as well.

Who's Latoodle oo?

What was wrong with Una Familia Con Suarte? I loved every minute of it. I went to the live stage production of it and also have the sound track. So what if the producer-writer-director isn't the very best, the novela was most enjoyable.
the gringo

cathyx-Mrs. Mejia Nathalie Lartilleux. I can never remember how to spell her name.

gringo-I liked UFCS. Just not enough to give Osorio another try. I'm willing to bet that out of UFCS, PEAM and MCET UFCS is the best.

thanks, Eli, for that great recap.

Cannot wait to see tonight's episode.

Eli- just want to thank you again for taking the time to do the recap. I know you are super busy and under a ton of stress.

If you ever just need to unload you can always email me.

Gringo, love your enthusiasm, but you liked Corazon Indomable too, just sayin'.

Corazón indomable is a Latoodle production cathyx. :)

I avoid her like the plague now.

The men of the cloth without the cloth calendar 2015 really caught my attention.

Is there a month with the Hawt Padre from LG in it? Love Juan Angel. If anyone is going to get one, pick up a stack for distribution on the patio. I will be first in line

Diego Olivera from TdA. Yum!

Thanks, Eli! Sorry to be back so late. Such great comments today. I only just read through them all. Men of the Cloth... LOL!

Sincere apologies for being so late Eli.

Let me echo that this was fantastic. "Uriel and Irma and their children from hell" and" BB agrees but he wants something in return...kisses for starters, eh I would have asked for a life long supply of Cheetos but that's just me" (and I agree!) were among my favorites.

Even though Cris saw Aldonza leave the hotel, he has a good heart and won't judge her. He always seems to allow her to tell her side or explain an action - even though she is perpetually closed mouthed.

Why oh way did Sev stop the beat down? He deserved it. Ack.

Diana
