Amores con trampa #10 Isa and Gallo: 'don't let me be misunderstood!'

Refrito: Isa talks on phone, about not forgetting a date and swearing no one will know what “I” did.

Maria hears this and looks alarmed. Isa sees her and freezes like she got caught stealing a lipstick from Walmart.

Lo Nuevo:

Perpetua notices Facundo is eating like a bird. (and he usually eats like a bull) She guesses it’s about Maria leaving them alone at dinner time. Facundo is surprised, Maria never leaves them to eat alone. Maria is changing…

Isa, after getting Maria’s name right a few times, asks what she is doing there, and whines at Conchita for not alerting her Maria was here. Isa acts a bit strange telling Maria that she got there at the perfect time.

Then Isa and Maria at a wine bar/restaurant. (one of those wine tasting restaurants with wine bottles all around). Isa tries to convince Maria that Facundo won’t be any more angry if she gets home later than if she went home now. Isa keeps trying to feed Maria B.S. about her career just taking off.

The rest of the Carmonas jump back on the couch to keep watching the 3D movies. Porfirio gets scared about what he is seeing, he says the women look way too thin… Perpetua offers Porfirio to give him a 3D massage.

Santi and Stefani are toasting to their reunion… Stefani wishes there will be very good news soon… Santi wants to know what is it. She plays him to wait a bit. She says she has not received her money transfer from Spain. Santi plays the resourceful knight in shining armour… She drops the bomb of the amount… 2 Million pesos. Santi swallows hard but then plays it as if its nothing, they can go to his office and he‘ll get it. But on one condition. She has to go out to dinner with him. (She looks him up and down like ‘bingo!’)

Facundo brings Beto some drink (it must be alcoholic, since El Gallo says he sneaked it out of the MIL) El Gallo tells Gallito1 that he feels a bit off-put by Maria’s behavior and how things are getting complicated lately. But then he says the speech about them moving to the city so the kids can get more opportunities. But there are things you can’t forget like your roots. With a lot of emotion and tears, El Gallo reminisces when they could just ride horses together when they felt a bit enclosed/restrained. Beto says ‘we can do it right now!’ They are heading to get the horses.

Jacinto is talking to Papa Gallo about the animals while Petunia is feasting on something in a bucket. Papa Gallo tells Jacinto how his mother showed him how to care for the cows. That she named the cow Lala, so they will name the little calf ‘Lalita’.

Still at the wine store/bar, Maria is a bit wasted… Isa can’t stop talking … she keeps blaming the ‘argument’ on El Gallo. Maria can barely talk. But she asks Isa about the phone conversation earlier. Isa is a bit taken aback. Maria offers to lend an ear if Isa needs to ‘talk’…

Gallo and Gallito are back from their horse ride with some orange round fruits with straws coming out of it. Gallo wans to talk to Maria.

At school Carmen arrives and Francis starts to question her very insulting about how she could afford the new car.

At office Esteban is really irritated at Santi about the 2 Million pesos. Santi calls it an investment. Esteban is angry. They refer to Estefi as a ‘bonbon’ but Esteban claims there are many ‘bonbons’ in the market! Maybe your neurons shorted due to the crisis we are going through. Santi insists that with that ignorant farmer’s millions “I” will start a new company and when the Gallo comes back to claim anything, by then he will be ruined. And “I” (Santi) will be in Bali enjoying Estefani and all her money. (Esteban is giving him the killer stare, probably because he is speaking from first person (“I”) instead of “US”). Santi claims that everything is going even better than Santi Velasco planned it!

Back to wine country, Isa backs up from telling Maria any details. Maria tries to get up to go to ladies room but is wabbling around. She wants to leave. Isa instead of asking for the check is asking the waiter for another double tequila (for Maria).

Carmen still arguing with Francis, who is still insulting and mocking her over and over. Finally Carmen has enough and slaps her. Francis confronts Carmen and the little Gallita warns she will do it again… Gallita walks away and Francis is threatening through her teeth ‘this is not over yet. I will get back at you or change my name (dejo de llamarme…).’

Maria is really feeling the alcohol level. Even feels sick, but Isa now wants to talk about feeling fleas all over her body. From how wasted Maria looks, Isa might as well talk about the theories of the Big Bang.

Santi finds Isa in the bedroom putting on a very foul smelling cream all over her legs. She says Maria gave it to her to treat flea bites. Santi and Isa have a difference of opinion as to what Santi asked Isa to do and as to what they need to do to the Carmonas. Santi thinks Isa should seduce Gallo to squeeze them out of their money. Isa claims she has to get Gallo and Maria to split up. (I love their nickname for Gallo, ‘charrito monta-perros’) … Isa can’t stop scratching due to the ‘fleas all over’.

Maria arrives at THEIR bedroom totally wasted. Gallo feels like arguing too. He says its not fair she blames him for whatever misunderstanding with Isa. Maria has changed her mind (or is it the alcohol level?) ‘we are city people so we now need to behave like city people!’ She then walks away, leaving Gallo more confused/disjointed than before.

Now Francis is hanging on Felipe’s arm while she gives him her version of Gallita slapping her. Gallita tries to defend herself just telling Felipe he needs to hear what Francis was telling her. Francis dares her to repeat her words… But then Gallita just gets upset. Francis starts getting the poor cows into the conversation, saying Gallita confused her with one of her cows. Gallita claims she does not hit the animals, she talks to them! (I bet Felipe is loving being in the middle of this battle for sure!) Felipe keeps claiming to Gallita that Francis is his ‘chava’ and they should get along. The girls keep trying to make him choose sides. Francis leaves miffed.

Perpetua comes out to get Beto to come in for dinner. But she goes back in and Rocio comes out to talk to Beto. She wants to know if they have decided if they are leaving. Beto is miffed ‘who can keep up with you? You want me to go, you want me to stay!’ She then approaches him and tries to kiss him. Now it is him who is saying ‘there can not be anything between us’. She replies ‘if you go we will never know (if there could be)’.

Gallo is watering the plants while the animals are by the pool. Isa comes over and gets a bath from his hose since she scared him. She wants to talk to him in private. He feels a bit unsure.

Isa has taken Gallo and tells him about Maria being confused about seeing them together. Isa claims Maria does not value Gallo enough for his efforts to bring them all to the city to move them forward. Briefly Isa and Gallo are holding hands just at the moment Felipe and Francis come in. Felipe is miffed at the scene he walked into. ‘what is going on here??’

Gallo jumps up and invites them to join them. Isa and Felipe ask each other ‘what are you doing here?’ Gallo takes his exit. Isa invites Felipe and Fran to sit. Francis questions Isa’s friendship with the neighbor. Isa claims she felt bad for Gallo saying he is having a hard time getting used ot the city.

Rocio and Diego are smooching in her room, suddenly she pulls away. He is miffed and confused. Rocio claims about the trouble she had with her aunt for staying at his house. He claims that never bothered her. Is it about the big hat farmer boy from over there? Be careful, I can play cool but I have limits too.

Back at the house Isa is still trying to apologize to Felipe for seeing her with Gallo. She admits it was Santi who asked her to get close to Gallo to ‘soften him’ to become an associate of the company. Felipe is miffed, wants more explanations. Isa gets confused with her wording ‘to be or not to be’ … to be nice and show interest or… your uncle is desperate. I should not have told you. Felipe says ‘if this family is going nuts, I won’t stand by and allow it! I don’t want you to see the neighbor!!’

Gallita found a nick for Francis… ‘Pancha!’ Francis friends want to join the fight with Gallita, but she is ready to take on all three of them. So Francis pulls out her new card ‘I just found your dad with Felipe’s mom… he has an affair with her.’ Gallita has no weapon for that. Other than running home to question her dad… with her mother listening by.

‘Please tell me it is not true that they saw you at a café holding Felipe’s mom’s hand. Please tell me you don’t have anything going with Ms Isabel. Swear to me you are not falling for her! ‘ Maria comes over and wants to hear the answer too! She is really upset. Now it is no longer Gallita but La Galla fighting with Gallo. She won’t let him say a word, she runs out to confront Isa. Gallita appoligizes to him saying she did not want her mom to hear that or for them to argue that badly. Gallo says ‘don’t worry, its nothing’.

Felipe is in his room wondering what kind of twilight zone he got into, ‘ my mom with that man? And Carmen… she says she likes me… she is such a natural and different girl…’

Galla is confronting Isa… demanding to know what is going on between Isa and her husband… Isa claims they were conversing (‘platicando’ so you can understand). Galla insists Isa wants something with Gallo!! Isa says on the contrary, she wants them to be ok. Galla threatens her not to come close to HIM or to MY FAMILY!!! Isa tries to pull the card that they were just becoming friends. But Galla is too upset. Galla leaves and Rocio comes to criticize Isa. And then Rocio confronts her… Isa tries to say ‘not one more word!’ but Rocio rebutes ‘or what? What are you going to do to me?’

At the office Esteban and Santi are celebrating that Esteban has been able to detach Isa’s boutique from the company’s liabilities so it won’t cost them (I mean.. the company) anything for the boutique. Santi is happy but Esteban says what about when Isa finds out you are back with Estefani? Santi says when she finds out he is back with his ex, … well she wont… you will cover up for me… as always. Now it is Felipe’s turn to confront Santi. Felipe questions why he asked Isa to seduce Gallo. Felipe wants to know!

Gallita is listening to Gallo for HIS explanation. But also wants to apologize for believing what ‘Pancha’ said to her. HE swears he loves ONLY Galla. He says Galla is very suspicious everytime she sees him and Isa within ten feet of each other. He tells her about the wasabi choking scene. Gallita wonders if this is why Galla wants to go back to the farm. Gallo swears no one will split them up. Their family is the biggest treasure they have.

Santi is at home nagging at Isa for telling Felipe about their scheme. Isa says Felipe caught her by surprise and she blanked out. Santi says he promised Felipe he would stop this situation. Isa asks what about Maria who swears Isa and Gallo are doing things together. Santi gets really irritated ‘I can’t count on you for anything!! Don’t do anything more! Don’t even move, you have messed up everything! You only take care of your boutique! From this moment you pay your own debts!!’ Santi thinks to himself ‘if you only knew Gallo loaned me a fortune! But you are too stupid!’

At the Carmona kitchen, Gallo is trying to convince Galla in front of Mother Galla that he is faithful to her and he would do anything to save his family, including moving back to the farm. Galla says no need, but your relationship with the neighbors is over!! He is ok with that. But Galla has one more request that he must comply with immediately.

Gallo has gone to Santi’s house to claim his loan money back. Santi seems to have just swallowed a whole lob of wasabi himself. He claims the money is gone, he paid the debt. Santi guesses that this is caused by Galla. Santi asks Gallo for some time to get the money together. Gallo believes him. Will give you time but don’t take too long, doing this for my family. Gallo leaves. Santi is mad, throws his glass… thinks ‘you have no idea what I will do’.

Previews: Isa is all over Gallo, and here comes Galla… (anyone ready for a cock fight main event?)

I was just heading to bed and noticed this was up! Thank you! Can't wait to enjoy it with my morning coffee tomorrow.

Loved the "caught stealing lipstick at wal-mart" line.

Marta, great title.

Now that I read your sensational recap, I will go to sleep with a smile on my face. What a treat!

"Perpetua notices Facundo is eating like a bird. (and he usually eats like a bull)" and " Felipe is in his room wondering what kind of twilight zone he got into were among my favorite lines of many.

"Facundo is surprised, Maria never leaves them to eat alone". While I fervently hope for and cheer at any progress in asserting an independent spirit, I do wish Maria had done something - anything more productive than to spend her time getting tipsy with Isa!

Isa and Maria have dinner. Well, Maria ate a bit of food and Isa drank. Have we actually seen her consume a morsel of food? :)

I have a question. Are Francis and her followers the only other students at Carmen’s school? There must be others Carmen could engage with aside from this taunting trio. It’s a shame Francis’ physical beauty is so lacking internally. ”Francis, who is still insulting and mocking her over and over”. It must be exhausting to be so perpetually mean.

That said, I wish Carmen would be a bit stronger and not get so upset so easily. While I understand she was unnerved at the venom Francis spewed, she seemed a bit overly distraught. I do think Felipe will be good for her as his calmness will be a good antidote for her sometimes verging on the edge of hysteria.

We were a bit animal deprived tonight but I loved the pig with the blue bow and the cows were so sweet and I thought quite beautiful.

Facundo had the grace to realize he was wrong. Yet, why does he continually get himself in compromising positions? I think the neighbors are indeed too close for comfort.

Not enough Susana tonight.

Marta, thank you!

Diana

I wish Carmen was a bit more feisty like Laura Engalls was in Little House in the Prairie when she confronted the bratty snobby blonde daughter of the owners of the town store... was that 'Cindy'?
Carmen is instead a whiny 'run to mom's skirt and point to the nasty girl so she will get in trouble' kind of girl.
I agree that El Gallo is not really doing anything to get in the kind of trouble he seems to be in. But lets hope he can stay away from the Velasco's... for his family's sake. previews say otherwise.

Marta, I think it was Nellie Olsen...yes she was a little impish snit, wasn't she? Laura was a great role model - feisty and unafraid. If only Carmen were only like her own sister, Susana!

And you are right, Carmen IS a bit whiny. And needy.

Diana

Marta, thanks for the laughs this a.m. I loved all of the "gallo" desgnations. Sure agree "cock fight main event" coming.

Diana, yes, we were "animal deprived". Well put.

Great scene: Carmen slapping Francis. She was not a willing victim of the bully and her posse. I hate how Francis calls her "huele a marrano": smells like a pig. Carmen reminds me of a fighting "gallita".

No sympathy for Facundo. Facundo was not smart meeting alone with Isabel. He should know his wife better after all this time. Now he is stuck with her condition of rescinding the loan that he will not be able to fulfill. This is about to get real interesting. Hiw long will it be before he realizes he has been taken for a fool?

Loved Felipe seeing Facundo and Isabel and calling Isabel on what is going on and telling Santiago. Seems that he and Rocío are the only conscience in that household.

On the funny side:

How many tequilas did María drink?

What was in that stinky flea cream that María gave Isabel anyway? I want to see more animated fleas!!! If I cannot see more Margarito. :)

Jarifa

OT: Just saw the movie "200 letters" aka "200 cartas" with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jaime Camil. Silly romantic bilingual comedy. Very enjoyable. Happy ending!!!

Jarifa

Thanks, Diana. Nellie Olsen. yes, that was her name, i just couldn't remember it. Francis even reminds me of her physically... although Francis is the older, current version of her. Even Diego looks 'normal' if we compare to the 'perpetually mean' Francis.

Jarifa, "I want to see more animated fleas!!! If I cannot see more Margarito. :)" Hear, hear!

Diana

Just finished watching and reading. Thank you Marta. And you've nailed "Pancha". She is DEFINITELY Nellie Olsen...personality-wise AND looks-wise.

There was a scene...I think when Santi was justifying giving the 2 million pesos to Estefy...and Esteban had this look on his face when Santi wasn't looking. Anyway, I am really beginning to think that Esteban contacted Estefany and brought her to town.

I hope Isa isn't lying about María's shawls. I want Maria to become kind of famous for her shawls and I actually would like to see Isa's boutique do well, too.

I don't feel like Fac and Santi really respect that their wives are competent women who could be a great asset to them.

I would also like to register my vote for more animated fleas...and animals.

Thinking a little more. I was kind of surprised that the plan to "get close" to Facundo has already been exposed.

I'm thinking it is not healthy how much I have thought about this show today.

On two of the other shows I watch we've often made comments about the couple kissing at the end of the opening credits being the "end game." Well, we have Fac and Isa kissing at the end of these opening credits. Does that make them "end game"...or just the biggest names in the cast?

Marta, great recap and laughed out loud at the
"stealing a lipstick from Walmart" line.

This plot isn't as predictable as I thought though in the end Facundo and Maria will still have their dinero, I hope. Santiago is a bit more of a despicable character than expected though he still may mend his ways.

GinCA

Marta,
Gracias for the awesome recap. It was great read. Funny and witty! What a combination. You outdid yourself again.

Sara, you have brought up a good point about Facundo and Isa being together at the end of the opening credits. I had seen it, but not put 2 & 2 together. You are right, the couple together at the end of the credits is usually end game. I hope the writers don't turn Maria into a character we start to dislike. I would hate to see that.

Hasta pronto!

"...This plot isn't as predictable as I thought..."

I can't figure out where ANY of it is going, but I'm terrible at predictions. I'm the perfect viewer, I never seem to be able to guess what's next....unless it's La Gata. Now THAT was a predictable show.

I'm hoping Santiago can mend his ways, too. He's already starting to get a little punishment from Estefany.

"I hope the writers don't turn Maria into a character we start to dislike. I would hate to see that."

Me too. If Fac and Isa are end game, I hope it can be done without character assassination and by making everyone happy in the end...especially the viewers.

How long before Maria cheats on Fac ?

I don't think Maria will cheat; this is airing in the "family hour." However, Francis is a grade school brat who will only get worse.

Urban-what time is this airing in Mexico? I heard y'all mention the "family hour" in the MCET thread.

Thanks, Marta. Terrific recap.

No sympathy for Facundo. Facundo was not smart meeting alone with Isabel.

Jarifa, ITA. The fact is Facundo likes hanging out with Isa.

Time for Maria to get independent. Facundo was so down when old faithful Maria wasn't at the dinner table. More of that, so he stops taking her for granted.

Santiago was so funny refusing to put the stinky ointment on Isa and being disgusted by her scratching.

I am most looking forward to Maria's story... Unless they go the shrew route. That would not be cool.

No Sara, ITA. Writers, please don't mess with Maria! Maria is a great character - kind, loving, loyal and very, very protective. (Now, if Facundo were my hub, I would be too! Sigh, but I digress).

I sincerely hope they don't try to change her. There is nothing that would justify Facundo ending up with Isa in my mind. A little flirting, well that's already happened. Nothing more serious in the wings, I hope (?)

Diana

"There is nothing that would justify Facundo ending up with Isa in my mind."

Ditto. I cannot fathom how they could switch couples in a satisfactory manner. At this point, even if the show were La Gata levels of crap (which it most certainly isn't) I would still watch because they've set up this situation that seems almost impossible to resolve.

Although I guess it's perfectly normal to be married and find a man attractive and to daydream about him (see:me and Big Ed), but if that person is your neighbor? And your own husband is telling you to flirt with him? That's a different ball of wax!

What gave me the heebie-jeebies was Carmen begging her father down on her knees to tell her he isn't fooling around with Isa. Carmen needs to stay out of her parents' business and why she gives a crap about the mean girls is a mystery to mean.

I'm at the we-want-more Susana table. More spunky Susana, less whiny Carmen.

Carmen's begging was VERY disturbing.

That's another bothersome thing: The kids. How in the world do they survive a shake up? Because I'm still in the mind set that the Fac/Isa shot at the end of the opening credits is the eventual outcome.

May I join you at the "More Susana table"?

Late to the party but thank you so much for the wonderful recap!

I feel much better abt Fac after he told Carmen how much he loves Maria and wouldn't cheat on her. Doesn't mean he won't flirt up a mess though.

Carmen and Felipe are in college right? Because the girls all act like middle schoolers and look like 30+.

Previews make it look like Isa pulls out the stops to break up Fac and Maria. If I was Isa I wouldn't mess with Maria. I think she could hogtie Isa in under a minute.

If I was Isa I wouldn't mess with Maria. I think she could hogtie Isa in under a minute.

Ha!! That would be funny! OOO! And if it were an animated dream sequence even better!

*hopes Emilio Larrosa is reading.*

Just wanted you all to know I am watching and enjoying this TN. Have caught up with the eps and now working on catching up with the recaps and comments before joining the patio.

Nanette

Excellent, Nanette! I'll get a hay bale ready for you. ;)

Much obliged, Sara.
