Que Te Perdone Dios #69: Love Means Letting Go, Or Maybe Not

Abigail gives Diego another go at the marriage go-round; they and Renata agree amongst themselves to keep it secret for a while.

Macaria threatens Renata to keep Abi by her side (and to fill her mind with gawd knows what trash about Ren) instead of leaving the rancho.  Her only goal is to now needle Ren at every turn.  Ren reminds her that she’s the servant; she’s to stop dissin’ her, and to start addressing her with “usted.” Mac needles her as only Mac can with “ustedito’s”.  Grrrr!

The loathsome Lucio threatens miracle-managing Mateo at gunpoint wanting an answer as to whether Mad Max has survived.

Porfirio got a phone call telling him that Max’s parents died in a helicopter accident and he wants Max to return home for his step-father and mother’s funeral. Daniela, whose week “on” it is, tells him with tears in her eyes that Max cannot because he was nearly killed in a “shooting incident” with his real father and is in intensive care.

Back at the hospital, Mat tells Lucio that Max survived but that neither of them can leave the hospital till they talk to the authorities and report the shooting incident.   The two eventually report it was a shooting accident while Max was being taught how to shoot.

Mat tells Lucio and Feisty also that blood tests came back revealing that Max is in the first stages of leukemia.  With treatment there’s a good chance he’ll survive the threat.

Lucio calls the Zarazua’s and tells Xi-ela of Max’s new predicament.  Xi-ella flies in to see Max and to speak with Lucio.  He’s a bad influence on the kid, she explains.  Porferio can give him all the luxuries and open all the doors for the kid that he never could, she reasons.  And, in Mexico City Max will get the finest treatments and doctors money can buy.  Lucio’s only got to agree to never see his son again.    This convinces Lucio that this is his son’s best chance for survival and a decent and happy life.

Xi-ela and Lucio agree to give Max his bad news in stages.  Lucio goes in and says his good-byes to his son, warning him away from him and his loser lifestyle.  His words of wisdom to his son: he’s got to stop acting like a spoiled brat, trying to buy things and people at a whim and/or trying to destroy the same (like attempting to murder Feisty) whenever things don’t go his way.  Lucio enlightens El Manipulator de Max-mini-me further that the only reason he turned into a paid killer was his need to survive somehow. That’s why when he started killing at 15 or 16 years of age for Fausto, his patron, he’d lost his salvation and his freedom.  That’s why they go back and forth with each other all the time.  “--Go back to the Zarazua’s (and hasta nunca, kiddo) and to the good life!”

Lucio then returns to the waiting area and informs Xi-ela that he’s done saying good-bye.  Xi-ela informs him that she’s taking him early the next morning back to the D.F.  “—Hasta nunca, Lucio.”  He tips his hat and slinks away.

Dr. Pat visits Renata and tells her Mat’s got twins on the way.  Diana simply snits past and waits for Fausto.  Fausto’s affectionate manner with Ren upon his return to the happy homestead makes Patricio jealous.  Ren explains she’s finally got peace in the household is all; she’s hoping this will soften him into eventually allowing a separation.  Pats should try smoothing things over with Ximena.  He explains how he tried but that Ximena simply rubbed his face in it again and reminded him he’s a murderer.   (At least I think this scene happened in last night’s episodio.)

Upstairs, Di is waiting to talk to Feisty about the extra burden of supporting not one but two of his issue!  “—I want a house in the city….”  “--So you’re trying to take advantage of me from this?  Why didn’t you use some precautions?” She says she had, or some such, but what is done is done.  She attempts then—very successfully—to seduce him.  La Diosa de Diana’s will be done…..

Fausto finds Abigail at the rancho and asks her out to celebrate his winning the elections by going to dinner with him in Ciudad de Valle.  She accepts and they have a great time.  He mentions to her that it’s time she also becomes la dueña of Rancho de los Angeles, as is her right.

Back at Ren’s, Di comes down to gritch at Ren and Mat at the late hour it is, that Feisty took Abi to dinner and how they still haven’t returned!  Mat is pricked with jealousy.

Mat is waiting in the driveway, behind the hedges when Feisty and Abi do return.  He sees her kiss him on the cheek and give him a hug.  His jealousy rares and once Feisty goes inside, he grabs Abi on her walk back over to Mac’s house where she’s agreed--per Mac’s secretive request--to spend the night and protect her from boogieman Lucio’s drunken late-night rages.

Mat lunges out at her.  “—What’s this change in attitude with my uncle, huh?  First you cannot stand the sight of him and now you hug and kiss him?”  Abi immediately gets angry: as if he was so freakin’ innocent???  There’s nothing between him and Diana any longer, he yells back at her!  Right!!!!  Well, she tells him, she’s single and free to do what she like with whomever—including kissing older men on the cheek--unlike him who married, kissed, slept with--and engendered TWINS by--Diana!

Abi forces Mateo to let her go.  He decides to take a swim in the pool to cool off.  Uncle Feisty comes out to ask about his late-night swim.  Mat goes off on Feisty for taking Abi alone to CdV and then canoodling with her when they got back home.  Feisty denies anything untoward.  It was only a celebration dinner for his winning the election.

Feisty eventually goes upstairs to bed and thinks it’s Renata lying in his bed.  The woman is covered up in sheets and her features hidden by the dark and the sheets. He leans over.  “—How long I’ve waited for this moment!”  Surpri-i-ize, Sucker!!!!!!  It’s really Macaria. WTF???  She gives him an impish grin and teases him.  "--Hi ya, Fausto!  Not exactly whom you were expecting, right?"

Thanks for another excellent recap Jardinera.

My favorite scene last night:

Lucio points his gun at Dr. Matt and threatens to shoot him if Max didn't survive, but upon learning that the surgery was a success, suddenly rushes toward Mateo to give him a grateful congratulatory hug instead. Less than thrilled, the good doctor rebuffs him.

This cracked me up. In my years of practicing medicine I never had an experience quite like that.

Poor Lucio is often so child-like and it seems that no one ever takes him seriously.

Happy Saturday everyone! What a rare Saturday morning treat. Jardinera thanks. Macaria has a special place reserved in hell for her. She's really forgotten her place. She was paid for Abi 's care. She has done nothing but abuse the child. Her lusting after Fuasto and any man who would have her is sickening. She acts entitled and that pisses me off. Poor Max..not. I almost felt sorry for Lucio. The word here is almost. He hasn't began to pay enough for all his sins yet. Killings and rapes, to name but a few. When is Fausto going to start paying for his sins. Its long overdue. I like Daniela. Hope she sticks around and get what she deserves. Happiness.
Thanks again Jardinera.

Thank you Jardinera! I like Xi-ela, good name.

When Mat was confronting Abi, I couldn't stop thinking, "you're such an idiot." My tolerance for that guy is so low. If the role is to be a super annoying, clingy, ridiculous sort, then Mark Thacher is really bringing it!

I thought the scene with Lucio and Max was moving, definitely well acted by A. Avila. The summation of how he came to be what he is seems reasonable. Circumstances, poor choices, hard luck, laziness, no self-esteem, a perfect storm of badness to make a guy like Lucio. His advice to Max was and criticism was all right on the money.

Why are they acting like getting shot helped to detect the leukemia? Seems like any regular check up and blood test would have caught it. Doesn't Max go to the doctor regularly, with all that money he has? I don't, but I'm broke with crappy insurance!

Something I didn't like about the scene with Lucio, and this ties into Urban Anthropologist's discussion this weekend: when Lucio was summing up all his bad deeds, confessing to more than he had before, like killing Freddy (I didn't realize Freddy was a 15-16 year old, I thought he was like 8), he didn't mention the rape of Teodora. Was it an oversight, did he forget he even did it, or does he consider it not really a crime like the murders? Or did he not want to cop to that with his son?

Hmm Luc and Max scenes were interesting but the leukemia part ticked me off. Can't he simply get reformed without being on the edge of death!? A.Avila deserves all the credit though , his role is quite tough to play and is much more interesting than the fugly Victor from Robo.

Too bad Lucio is just the Devil's Advocate and does not receive enough screentime. One thing i hate the most is that they focus too much on Fausto and not enough on the other characters like the underdeveloped Apple Pat and the twins. Its like Fausto is both the main protangoist and the main antagonist at the same time faltava mas!

Mat annoys me so much , he can get so irritating in his rebellious quest for unrequited love. I just cannot seem to grow on the actor , if they are badass and cool like Colunga , Levy or Rulli I can get used to them in a week. Idk if it is just me but i would have preffered Daniel Arenas in this role.

My crackpot theory was always that Max's mother was related to Diego and was Vic's lost daughter but i suppose it fell off except if the writers are supposed to make Diego learn of her when it was too late.

UGH, I didn't like Mark Tacher before this, and this is not helping. He overacts so much! If he learned to modulate his voice and learn how to use it better he wouldn't be so irritating, IMO.

Carlos: DefinitelySaturday Night Live fare. LOL. I have wanted to do what Lucio did to a couple of charge nurses and office receptionists more than a few times trying to get face-time with their bosses over the years, that's for darned sure!

Count X, Avila has really made his character come alive for us. He deserves a premio IMHO.

=====
Hanna, Whazzat? You mean that Mac isn't entitled? Doesn't it make you wonder who changed the kid's diapers and held her when she was sick or fed her when she was hungry. I can't see Mac doing any of that.

TN4, Mateo is a tortured soul. He's paying for diddldeedeeing Dee Dee in the shower after declaring his undying love for Abigail--the dirty dog!!

Jar, and in turn we are the tortured souls as we watch him emote 😄

Thank you Jardinera, Mateo is super stupid, clingy and acts like an entitled spoilt brat as if he did anything to deserve any attention from Abi. Macaria is pure shameless and her obsession over Fausto will probably destroy her before anything else.

Thanks Jardinera---Loved your
Xi-ela. It's near genius.o
Wow! Tortured souls. There seems to be a lot of then in this tn.
Or at the very least, a lot of unhappy people.

ITA with others about Mark Tacher's terrible performance in this novela. I absolutely loved, loved him in LHDM, where I thought he was just adorable and sensitive, but very manly.

I watched only a few episodes of TDA and thought he was much better in that novela than egotistical WL.

IMHO FC played this character so much better in AMF.

I doubt that MT will grow on me as the novela progresses. And to think he is still with SR's ex wife the bun-head (I think that was her nickname) from MCET doesn't speak well for him IMHO.

On the other hand, AA is superb as Lucio. I can't remember seeing him act so superbly in another novela. The hospital scenes with him and MAT and with Max, were great.

Mark Tacher is also known as AHOLE on the previous TN.

Lucio always cleans up Fausto's messes, etc., but sooner or later, he's going to be the one, who gets burned in the end.
