Quiero Amarte (Week 30-April 13) Highlights & Discussion
For Dr. Guapo Marco Antonio Linares (aka Baby Boy Montesinos) parentage to be revealed. Here's hoping he goes to El Paraiso for a visit very soon.
To figure out why Candy Seller (aka Dulce for me) has appeared so late in this story.
To learn why Sal is still hanging around.
For Mauro to SHOW UP ALIVE, for heaven's sake. It's been too long, already.
For Cesar and Lucrecia to learn Florencia has been long dead. HaHa, the "joke" is on them.
For Cecy and Uli to get the heck out of the lives of Ivan and Mariana.
For Flavia and Heriberto to share more than work, a bonfire and distributing flyers.
To clear up the seeming mystery, perpetuated by certain characters not in the telenovela, that Consta's baby is not Max's.
To see how Max and Amaya will ever be able to get back together before the end.
Let your speculations abound!

I'm putting the recapping schedule for the remaining weeks of Quiero Amarte. I won't be able to recap on Week 33 Thu, May 7 and I was wondering if Lila could do it and I'd double up on Week 32 Mon and Thu. (See below)
If anyone is willing to step forward for any other gaps (where there are question marks), please let me know ahead of time.
This has been a great run. If Uni sticks to this schedule, Kelly will get the El Fin--Lucky you!

Re recapping Anita, please check your email and in answer to this question:
Capitulo 156 Thu Apr 30 – Anita — Can I switch with you Lila?
Are you saying you want Tuesday, April 28 and I take Thursday, April 30? If so, yes, I can do that. Please let me know.
I don't think Cap. 156 is for both Thu and Fri. That throws the ending date off. So, the DAYS of the week are correct. I'll change the Capitulo numbers next Monday, ok?
We MAY get a two hour conclusion so it still ends on Friday. We'll make the adjustments later.
This sounds confusing--but no, I don't want to switch to Tues Apr 28.
Corazon--You are hereby appointed to recap Wed Apr 29 and Wed May 6. Just a reminder--put your recap inside the posting for that week.
Everybody else--Please excuse the wordiness. I had a little extra time on my hands. A lot happened that bears repeating, EXCEPT FOR: “There is no proof,” or variations on that theme.
Floridia--Sorry, no car crash on the highway took out Salvador today. Maybe tomorrow? I hope your deep dish Humble Pie is as good as my deep dish Apple Cobbler. You can have two helpings.
Here goes!!
Cesar is walking in the park with Whoracio—after he got him sprung from jail for lack of any evidence. No, he didn’t talk. Cesar tells him to go back to the office as though nothing happened and wait for further instructions. Oh, by the way, Juliana thinks Cesar was behind setting the fires at the ZE. No, he didn’t talk to them either, he tried to deflect the issue away from Cesar. Cesar wants to know how she came to that conclusion. How should he know? (Well, actually, she remembered seeing money changing hands between Whoracio and Cesar one day.)
Dr. Guapo’s wife is named Angela.
Dulce comes back to her humble home to tell Granny she found a job. It’s in Comitán, but it’s a job. She can’t believe it. She’ll be working as a maid in someone’s house. The lady is also from Guatemala and didn’t even ask for papers or references. Now she can help Granny put food on the table. Her Granny is so generous with everyone, even though she doesn’t know them (Coffee Bean Alert!!! She helps people she doesn’t know…)
Lucrecia corners Elo in the garden coming out of the Montesinos main house. She reminds Elo she was not to set foot in the house again. Elo explains she was only coming to get fresh clothes for Lucio. Lucrecia, greatly animated says she won’t have to do that any more because starting right now, Lucio is coming back to live in the main house with her. They start arguing over who has the authority to make decisions—a missing Mauro or a live Lucrecia. (She says something really nasty to Elo—if Mauro does return, it will probably be in a coffin.) She wants to tell Lucio his father is dead. (She would! They’d better find Mauro fast.) Elo is horrified she would do something like that without preparing the him slowly for the news. Luce says, exactly, but that will be she, not Elo. Luce forbids Elo from having anything more to do with Lucio.
Lucio is at school, painting in the directora’s office. The teacher wanted her to see how he has changed. The directora and his teacher have noted that his painting is different. He must be going through some crisis. Their observations are interrupted by a call from Lucrecia.
Iván and Mari are talking about finishing school before the baby comes. She wants to go to town, but Ivan will go with her—as her security guard, since she promised not to put herself at risk while Uli was on the loose. Kisses so sweet.
Cecy shows up back at WUN. Becca is mad at her. She can’t just disappear without telling anyone. And what about trying to suborn her psychiatrist. She’d better not be planning anything against her son or Mariana, because she will personally turn her in to the authorities.
Passport-Spy Guy is filling Uli in on the comings and goings of personnel at El P. Uli definitely has something in mind, not good, when he wants to know where Amaya’s kid is and if she’s with her father or Amaya. He’s surprised to hear her father is none other than Whoracio—the guy who paid Cipriano to set fire to his ex-wife’s lands. If he was willing to harm them financially like that, maybe he and Whoracio can do business. He wants P-S Guy to go to Mexico city and get the skinny on them, especially on Amaya and the kid.
Max and Amaya have shown up at the police station. They are shocked! Shocked, mind you to find out Whoracio is no longer in detention for lack of proof. Elo gets through to Max at the station and tells him what Luce is planning. He’ll come to Juli’s house right away. Elo will go get Lucio from school. Max hangs up and turns to hear that Amaya is going to go find Whoracio and confront him. Max doesn’t want her to. It’s too dangerous. He doesn’t want anything to happen to her. She thanks him for his concern.
Juli and Jorge are walking through the park discussing Whoracio’s crimes. Juliana is still convinced Cesar is behind everything Whoracio has done. She’s furious about that and all the other troubles they’ve had that point to Cesar’s manipulations. Jorge has to reason with her not to confront him since they have no proof; proof they will get. Juli tells Jorge the results of the chemical tests are ready. They go together to get them.
Juli comes back home furious that the analysis showed it was mercury poisoning. Of course! Now they make the connection between the symptoms of mercury poisoning and the symptoms Juli was exhibiting when her doctor asked her if she’d been exposed to mercury. At the time she said no. Juli is greatly agitated over Cesar’s attempts to kill her and Alan. Regrettably she can’t tie him directly to the poisoning, she has no proof—if only she’d taken a cell phone pic of him. Max enters the house. He only heard the last part—trying to poison her. Juli looks at him. She’s not going to say anything.
He demands an answer. So Jorge spills the beans. Juli explains that she didn’t want to tell him before the results were in because they didn’t know what it was and they didn’t want Max and Cesar to have another bro-to-bro confrontation. They do not have iron-clad proof. Maybe there is camera footage from the garage. Max (our gorgeous hunky hothead) is off to confront Cesar (just like they were afraid he would if they had told him earlier). Jorge follows Max out and Juli runs after both of them.
Elo shows up at school. Directora gives her condolences on Mauro’s death. Whoa, not official yet, only a disappearance. Elo has come to her office because they wouldn’t let her pick up Lucio. She is informed that from now on Lucio is not permitted to leave without authorization. Elo wonders whose authorization. Lucrecia appears from behind—from “Me, his mother.” Luce sneers at Elo, having won a round in the War of the Montesinos.
Lucio is now in the director’s office sitting next to Elo. The director is saying she’s sorry to Elo. There’s nothing else she can do. She leaves the war zone. Luce stands over them, gloating. Did they hear that? Luce tells Lucio it’s time to go. He says he wants to go with Elo. Elo has no fight left in her. She tells Lucio that for the time being he’ll have to go with Luce. Lucio has a good idea—if his dad isn’t around and no one knows when he’ll be back, why doesn’t Elo call him and get him to give permission. (Oh, this breaks my heart—I know Luce intends to set back all his progress, get him agitated and uncontrollable and have him committed to a psychiatric clinic, the way she had years ago and she and Cesar have planned it again.) Luce looks on, she can’t wait to get her hands on him, while Elo tells Lucio that where Mauro is there is no cell phone service. Luce puts on her dark glasses. (The light hurts her eyes? Hmmmm.) She hustles Lucio out as Elo dissolves into tears—now she’s lost everything (Mauro and Lucio).
Mariana and Iván have gone to town and are talking to her directora at the school. She had no idea of all the things that had happened to Mari. She tells Mari her scholarship is still in place. All she has to do is pass the exams to get her degree. Ivan is sure she’ll pass and will also make sure she studies.
In the MM, Amaya is reaming out Cesar for the attorney Cesar hired not being able to find any culpability on Whoracio’s part for burning the ZE coffee lands or for causing Cipriano death. Cesar (wearing his “I am deeply concerned” mask) is also upset there was nothing to prove his involvement, only the words of a dead drunk. Nothing can be done. Amaya doesn’t believe that. Cesar says Whoracio denied it all. Exasperated, Amaya asks if Cesar believes him? She’s also sure Whoracio paid Cip’s bail. Without proofs, Cesar is keeping Whoracio on the payroll—keep your enemies close. If he’s found culpable, he’ll pay for it. Amaya, even more exasperated wonders how that will come to pass if the authorities can’t find any proof of culpability. Cesar swears he will find a way. OK now, Max gets the main house and before Cesar can duck, Max decks him—or at least gets him off balance. Amaya screams. Cesar grabs a fire poker intending to do some serious bodily damage to Max. Max parries with his arm. Amaya begs them to stop. She screams for help.
Jorge finally makes his way into the house and into the middle of the fight as Max lands one with his head right in the middle of Cesar’s nose. Juliana shows up accusing Cesar of trying to poison her and Alan with mercury. Cesar says she crazy. She says she’s not. How dare she accuse him. Amaya is hearing all this for the first time. Now Jorge lights into him, provoking Cesar further by defending Juliana. Cesar tries to get him to shut up. But it’s too late. It’s now three against one in the War of the Montesinos. (I hope Luce and Lucio don’t get home now. This is getting good. I want Cesar to stay unbalanced.) Juli reminds everybody how she nearly ran over Val and Amaya because she fell asleep at the wheel of her car. Amaya remembers it perfectly well. Juli continues, she can’t believe he put Alan at risk. That’s why she sent Alan to the States, to ensure his safety. Cesar hides behind a lack of proof. Max will make it his business to find out if Cesar is the lying liar who lies. (The question is how. Good luck, Max. I really mean it.)
Max, Jorge and Juliana are back in her house. (What…Amaya didn’t come with them? They’re leaving her with that killer-in-training? Oh, never mind, see later on in the recap.) They are discussing Cesar and his attempt to kill Juliana. Max says Cesar is crazy. Jorge warns them, if he’s crazy, then, being discovered, he may try again.
Elo arrives without Lucio. Juli reports on the mercury poisoning. Max learns Elo knew all about it and HE didn’t. Everybody is hiding things from him (C’mon Max, we and they all know you are an impulsive hot head, acting before thinking—and you keep getting a pass because you are so gorgeous.) Elo has to tell them about the new restrictions Luce put on her to prevent any contact with Lucio.
We are briefly taken into Angela and Dr. Guapo Marco’s home and conversation. He’s telling her about finding the graves of his mother and father and the story of the empty tomb. It’s been so long, he doesn’t hold out much hope of finding his parents alive, but he wants to find his sister. Cemetery Guy has told him to ask at the finca El Paraiso and that is what he is going to do.
Cesar is still licking his wounds. He can’t believe Amaya was on their side. Max and Juliana have always hated him. He keeps denying culpability and Amaya is giving her sarcastic, “Por Favor,” as Luce enters with Lucio. She sees the battered Cesar and rushes to his side. Cesar puts his best spin on things—Max almost killed him! Lucio immediately starts calling for Max. Luce takes Cesar upstairs, ignoring Lucio completely. Amaya tells him Max is at Juliana’s. Luce is so wrapped up in Cesar she takes no notice that Amaya has grabbed her purse and is on her way with Lucio to Juliana’s so Lucio can see Max. (Wowzee! Things are happening so fast I can hardly keep up.)
Cesar and Lucrecia reach her bedroom. She goes to get the first aid kit. Cesar tells her the fight started because Juliana discovered the mercury in her car. Luce wants to know if Max believed her. Cesar says of course he believed her. But they can’t prove it. He whips out his cell phone and dials someone at Nescafé (probably the IT guy). He’s gagging at the thought of blood—his blood. He asks how far back the security footage goes in the garage. No back ups? Then, he says, this phone call never took place and hangs up.
Over at El P., Flavia and Heri return, exhausted, but not having had any luck with the fliers. Heri says they’ll try again tomorrow. Consta is there to observe the impulsive kiss Flavia gives him, thanking Heri for all his help. He smiles, gets flustered and starts to leave the wrong way, wheels and goes out the right way toward the kitchen.
Consta wants to know what that kiss was all about—with Heriberto. Flavia plays innocent. It was just a thank you. Consta doesn’t believe her—she thinks Flavia likes him. Flavia has mixed feelings. What she does know is she feels good when she’s with him. Consta didn’t think Flavia would ever get interested in one of the laborers—and asks not to get offended, but Flavia has always given so much weight to money and social class. That was the old Flavia. She’s learned that what is important is what the person is and not what the person has. She doesn’t know what to do since he won’t give her the time of day.
Meanwhile Hydrangea is teasing Heri in the kitchen about his impossible love. She guesses right, it’s Flavia. He doesn’t think she would ever look at him. Hydrangea gives a boost to his ego. And why not—as she lists all his qualities. Then she brings him right back down again reminding him she’s the daughter of the patron.
In the living room Consta brings up Sal’s visit. She wonders if Flavia is still interested in him. Flavia says absolutely not. The reason Consta is asking is that she wants no secrets between them. Sal admitted to still having feelings for Consta. Flavia takes it well. She guesses he came using the pretext of her father being missing to see Consta. Whatever it was, between Sal and herself, Flavia figures, it was because they were both alone and lonely. Ouuy, Heriberto is listening just out of their sight (but not ours) and this big grin spreads all over his face when he hears Flavia say that.
The Scooby-Doo Gang has gathered at Juliana’s house. Amaya explains why she brought Lucio over. He’s nestled in the crook of Max’s arm. Max blows off the blows Cesar gave him. Amaya didn’t know about the new restrictions. Max doesn’t think it will do Lucio any good to live with Cesar and his mother. Lucio says he doesn’t want to live with them. He wants to live here. Max will talk to Luce and convince her to let Lucio live with Juliana. Amaya approaches Juliana privately and tells her she has something important to discuss with her, but off premises. They agree to meet at a nearby café.
Meanwhile, Cesar is being such a big baby about the blows Max gave him. He’s hurting and he’s pissed. The security camera footage won’t be a worry. Juliana and Jorge suspect he’s behind the fire at ZE, but again, there is no proof. (Ah, Cesar, how does it feel not to be in complete control AND gotten a beat down by the guy you’re trying to best at the same time.) Aha! Cesar actually uses the words, “War Has Been Declared”—between himself and Team Max/Juliana. Luce is sure with all the voting shares they control the two of them will win the War of Power. Cesar doesn’t respond, but by his agitation, my guess is that right now he only wants to win a decisive Battle With Max. He takes out his cell phone, converts it to a mirror—he wants to see what his pretty face looks like after Max rearranged it.
Jorge is pacing the garden between the two houses. Cesar has emerged, put back together again, and confronts him. What is he doing here? Jorge is here to let him know that Juliana has not only Max to support her, but she has him. He’s not going to permit Cesar to harm her or Alan again. If Cesar tries again he’ll have to answer to him. Cesar snickers and hisses, is Jorge threatening? He can see Jorge is a big guy (un grandote) but that doesn’t scare Cesar. Cesar is the one with the power around here. Jorge looks down on him and says Max smashed his face in, but the next time he needs to get his face smashed in, it’ll be Jorge that does the job.
Whoracio returns to the Nescafé offices as if nothing had ever happened. Caro 2.0 sees him and stops him in his tracks. He dismisses her accusations. They argue. Caro tries to have the last word—just because they don’t have proof, doesn’t mean he didn’t set those fires at ZE. He manages to give her the last put-down for being an old maid (una solterona—a pejorative term for soltera/single) with nothing else to do and leaves.
Max has gone over to the main house to talk to Lucrecia. She is in the living room, holding a martini. Before Max can say a thing, Luce rebukes him for the beating he gave Cesar. Max nearly killed him. Max can’t understand why she would be on his side, after what he did to Juliana. Luce says that’s Juliana story. Luce doesn’t believe her. There’s no proof (I’m getting tired of typing this sentence—Mexican justice seems to be based on PROOF, which no one can ever find.) She’s talked to Cesar—all she wants in the house is peace, understood? Max understands. Next time, he’ll come with all the proof she needs.
Max gets to what he came to talk about—Lucio. Lucrecia, in another of her saintly lies, says Eloisa robbed her of the position as madre she ought to have had in Lucio’s life. (Luce, everyone knows you abandoned that position gladly and handed him over to Eloisa with pleasure—you didn’t want to have to deal with a child with disabilities. She didn’t usurp your position.) She’ll be damned if she’s going to keep catering to Eloisa, especially now that Mauro is gone. Max tries to use logic—with his father not around Lucio needs more tranquility and support than ever in his life and Elo can provide that. Luce finally agrees, on condition that Elo and Lucio MUST come live in the MM. (Oh, lordy, what does she have in mind.) Max goes back to Juli’s to tell Elo of the revised living arrangements for her and Lucio. Even though she knows Luce is doing this to humiliate her, this is about Lucio. He needs her. She accepts.
Jorge is in a florist’s shop and orders flowers, balloons and chocolates for Juliana. The biggest of everything. He writes her a love note.
Juli arrives at the café. She seems to be a little frosty as she sits down. Then Amaya tells Juli her reasons for sending Vale away and marrying Cesar. Then she decides to share everything else with her, including protecting Max by leaving him, though she has never stopped loving him. Amaya plays her the infamous tape she has of Cesar and Luce talking about their Mis Planes for Amaya. Juli can’t believe what monsters they are. She’s thunderstruck when Amaya lets her in on her biggest secret—Lucrecia killed her mother, Florencia. She’s also suprised to find out Mauro shared with Amaya Juli’s suspicion that Luce killed Omar. Amaya continues to enumerate Luce’s crimes, including killing her father and godmother, as Juli’s eyes get bigger and bigger. She saves the worst till last. She and Mauro had a long discussion before he disappeared. Mauro went to the spot on the river to confront Lucrecia and she’s convinced Luce had something to do with his falling into the river. It was all to make sure he didn’t denounce her (delatar). Freeze frame on Juli’s astonished face
Post Script--In the scene where Max is telling Eloisa the results of his conversation with Luce, I get the fleeting impression the wool is beginning to drop from his eyes regarding Cesar's and his mother's evil intentions, at least where Juliana and Lucio are concerned. Wait until he gets the whole panoply of their dirty deeds.
Did anyone else here young Dulce tell her grandmother that the lady she met who was going to hire her was nice like Florencia? Maybe I wanted to hear that. I'll have to check tomorrow on hulu+.
Also, all the lovely greenery Grandma had looked like she was doing more than preparing dinner! Could she be in the healing arts as well and maybe know Candelaria?
I know, I know, I just want these new characters to have a connection to Mauro!
Can't wait for Dr. Guapo Linares to show up at El P asking about his sister! How exciting!
Thank you, Anita! Beautifully detailed and you say "wordy" like it's a bad thing!
:D
and you're right I can't wait for all that stuff - something to look forward to
ok peeps I have decided what I want to happen to Uli and I know that the writers have already written the ending but I think if we all get together and concentrate we can send my brainwaves back in time to the writers and get them to use my idea ... or maybe not :)
anyway I got the germ of this idea from one of the episodes last week and its been germinating ever since. I don't care what happens to ceci, she can jump in the lake or go to the manicomio or whatever.
Ok, so picture this Uli is locked in a room - powerless to escape - so that he knows how Mariana felt and all there is in this room is one big window and every time he looks out the window he sees Mariana and Ivan being happy together, loving each other, starting their family, kissing, and holding hands and and he is completely helpless and powerless to do anything about it and has no other distractions except that window and nothing else to do but watch Mariana and Ivan generally being blissful, enjoying their freedom and everything else Uli doesn't have
For The Rest of His LIFE!
What do ya think?
I know logistically that might be complicated to work out but its what he deserves.
The greenery looked like it was going to go in a pot or a salad to eat. That doesn't mean she's NOT a curandera. There's NO PROOF to the contrary!!!!!!
BTW--Have you ever seen the Spanish language movie, El Secreto de Sus Ojos? It moves along a little slowly and you have to concentrate because the main characters move back and forth from their present to their past and back again.
You'll see why your comment made me think of it. I've watched it three times with different folks and all agree it's a very good movie.
Yay! Amaya has told Juli the truth. Although, honestly I have been disappointed in Juli and Elo for not guessing something was up. Not even going to talk about how disappointed I've been in Max's sleuthing abilities with all the clues Amaya and Mariana gave him about Amaya's "reasons" for marrying Cesar. Anyway, Amaya has a new ally now, although it should give Juli pause to learn what happened to her last new ally- Mauro.
Now it makes sense why candy girl approached Doc Hottie's wife. She and grandma are from Guatemala, with no papers, and she heard the wife say she's from Guatemala. Can't wait for the doc to show up at El P.
Anita- I am too swamped this week to recap, but I can take a day next week.
Vivi--As for recapping, I think we're ok this week. Could you take Thu Apr 23 or Thu Apr 30? Let me know before next Monday, though.
Sneaky--Do let me know if you liked Secreto. It took two watchings for me to really "get" it. It was worth it! You can e-mail me from my profile if you don't want to make it public.
NINA!
Juli and Elo care a great deal for Max and they knew this had hurt him irreparably. They both ostracized Amaya, even though they noted that oddly, she didn't act like a happy bride at the party.
When Elo took Amaya some pills soon after, she was pleasant but no longer friendly. Juli and Amaya's interactions were limited to their children's interactions (school, soccer), but not friendly. I think that's where it all stalled. Nothing happened until now to change their opinion of her.
Thank you for your hearty appreciation, Nina and for your funny words of encouragement in last weeks board!
Ok, Anita. I knew I heard the name Florencia and I got carried away! Oh well!
:D
Loving Heri and Falvia, and Mari and Ivan. Can't stand how clingy Connie is. She seems to be getting worse. I thought her snide comments the other episode were extremely rude and inappropriate as Amaya was recounting the info about Cip and Whor. I think Max should have called her out about it later.
Loved this:
Aha!
(I just copied, pasted and italicized it so I'm sorry the formatting was lost too.)
First of all, Anita thank you again for the terrific recap -- all that we could ever want.
RE Sal and the Humble Pie, I am waiting to eat it until after one full day of TN time has elapsed.
There's still time for a car crash - either from Sal's rage or from a combo of drinking and driving with rage.
Next, Welcome back, Vivi. Your trip sounds wonderful. I will look at the pictures soon.
There are two comments from this episode and possibly three
that hold my interest.
1. Max's comment/request to Juliana to tell him things when they happen. He does not want to be left out of the loop. Now, this brings us to the big question as to whether or not Juliana will heed Max's edict to clue him in on important events. NOW IS THE TIME
FOR REVELATION... IF EVER THERE WILL BE A TIME, THIS IS IT.
All this information is far too burdensome for Amaya alone.
2. Connie's remark that she doesn't like to have secrets.
From my point of view, this is ironic because I believe she is hiding a very big secret.
3. I think Lu asked Cesar to keep Max out of his war against all the others.
Anita, I agree about the ambient noise/music. This novela is one of the worst for that. Horacio is particularly difficult to hear or understand. While I despise his character, I must say that he was perfectly type cast for this role.
He's doing a great job. Well, they all are.
All the Best.....
It's a comfort to read this. It's something I've struggled with with this TN.
Lila needed someone to do her recap today. I've sent her email address to you. I can do it unless someone else is dying to do it.
Please advise.
Now he wants to go after Amaya's daughter ? Where are the police?
Luc banning Elo from the house: this isn't going to end well.
On Juliana & Elo's hostilities at Amaya earlier: it was very harsh how they treated her at first due to marrying Cesar, etc.,
I want her to tell Flavia the truth about Luc.
Steve,
Elo is not banned from the house.
She can return to the house to be with Lucio, but Lucio cannot stay at Juliana's under Lu's order.
Amaya told much about Lu yesterday.
Did you hear what she revealed?
It was major.
Anita, El Secreto de Sus Ojos
is a most captivating story.
All the best ......
Meant to tell you that I read the book and saw the film (above).
You would enjoy the book if you did not read yet. There is a major difference between the two ...plot wise.
I'm off work today, so there shouldn't be too much of a delay.
Luc is the Latina version of Helena Cassadine.
Nina!
I'll go straight to the new:
Amaya is sure Lucrecia did something to Mauro to keep him from revealing the truth. Juli digests this information. Luc may have killed her father? Why did he even meet with her anyway? Amaya explains that Luc thought she was meeting with Florencia. Amaya has been sending anonymous notes and making Luc believe that Florencia was still alive. In the background, Cesar's man makes a phone call. He informs Cesar that Amaya and Juli are having coffee together. Cesar tells him to stay on her tail. He hangs up and wonders why they are together.
Juli wonders why they didn't go to the police. Amaya explains that he wanted to confront Luc first and make her confess. He wore a bullet proof vest, but Amaya doesn't know what happened. He went to the meeting and didn't come back. Amaya knows Luc did something.
Jorge delivers his flowers, chocolates and love letters. He wants to cheer up Juli. He tells Max he also went to see Cesar and demanded that he respect Juli. Max thinks he did the right thing. Caro 2.0 calls and informs Max that Whor is still at Nescafe. Max is on his way.
Juli wants to tell everyone! Amaya agress, but they have to be careful. Cesar is Luc's ally. Juli asks what kind of monster tries to kill his own father.
Cesar arranges a meeting of the stockholders to decide who will take charge of Nescafe. He monologues to his own image on the webcam. He is the one who will be in charge. Nothing will get in his way.
Amaya tells Juli that Cesar is indeed Mauro's son. She had a DNA test run. Juli still thinks he's nothing like Mauro. All he wants is his father's money, power and business. Amaya has a way to unmask Luc as a killer, but first she wants to find out what she knows about her mother. She doesn't know if Mauro told Luc he knew she killed Florencia. Juli wants to know the plan. Amaya asks if she's willing to run the risk with her. Juli tells Amaya she can count on her support.
Mari and Ivan enjoy some elote and discuss Uli. Part of Ivan wants Uli far away, but another part wants him caught and to face justice. Mari hates not knowing and living in fear.
Max and Jorge arrive at Nescafe and tells Whor to leave. Whor refuses. They can't fire him, they didn't hire him. Max gets physical and Cesar arrives on the scene. Max and Cesar go to Cesar's office.
Juli, still reeling from all Amaya has told her, arrives to a living room filled with flowers. Elo tells her that Max and Jorge went to throw Whor out of Nescafe.
Cesar tells Max that he kept Whor around because, like Amaya has said, it's good to keep your enemies close. Max does not want him in the office. Cesar says he's in charge and he made the decision. Max does not agree with Cesar making such arbitrary decisions. Cesar informs him of the upcoming meeting to decide who is in charge. Whoever has the most votes wins.
Amaya arrives at MM. Amaaya thinks the house is going to feel so cold without Don Mauro. It's so odd her mother and Maruo disappeared in the same river! Luc asks if Amaya ever found out anything about her mom. Could she still be alive? Amaya says there were some clues in Guatemala, but nothing concrete.
Jorge thinks Whor will sooner or later pay for what he did. Cesar has agreed to let Max through Whor out. Cesar attempts to communicate with his eyes as the elevator doors close on Whor.
Cons is so bored she's learning to bordar(embroider.) She tells Nora about Sal's visit. She wishes she could share his feelings. She would give her life to reciprocate Sal's affections. Cons agrees that Max was right and she needs to find something to do with her life. Nora agrees. Cons doesn't need to be clinging to Max and smothering him.
Luc wonders what Amaya thinks. Will she keep looking for her mother? Amaya plays mind games. She's been feeling her mother's presence lately. She's felt like she was close buy. (Luc actually starts looking around.) But Amaya thinks it's just her hope. She's going to keep looking for her mother AND Don Mauro. Luc asks what Amaya would do if her mother appeared. Amaya would be the happiest woman in the world! She would shout the news from everywhere. Amaya worries about her mom. Has she lost her memory? Does she have some physical impairment that keeps them from recognizing her. Luc agrees, something must be keeping her from appearng. Amaya hopes with all her heart that BOTH of them return.
Elo tells Juli how upset Lucio is and tells her she and Lucio will be staying at Luc's. She also tells Juli about Jorge going to talk to Cesar. Elo gives Juli the love letter Jorge left her. He promises to share everything with her and support her. He wants to build a life with her. Moon, stars, blah blah.
Heriberto tries to plant a rose in Flavia's bag and Sal catches him. Sal informs him he's just a peón and is not of Flavia's class. Flavia comes in and Sal tells her that Heriberto is the secret admirer.
Luc reminds Elo that they are in her house and she's in charge (Luc that is.) Lucio wants his dad to come back. Soon. Luc tells him he will have to get used to his dad not being there. What a b!tch.
Heriberto explains that he knows his place. He's the employee and nothing can happen between them. He leaves.
Flavia is not happy with Sal. She calls him an intrigoso (he stirs up trouble.) He takes offense and she reminds him about what he did to mess up Cons and Max's wedding.
Caro finally gets in touch with Caro. She tells Amaya about Whor being thrown out. Amaya tells Caro that Juli will help carry out "mis planes."
Cesar asks about Amaya's coffee with Juli. Amaya asks if he's following her. He says no. They talked about him. She's worried about what they are saying about him. She doesn't like that he is being accused of such serious things.
Luc is three sheets to the wind. She celebrates Mauro's absence and then starts to hear Florencia's voice and screams. She calls her name. "Leave me alone!" Luc begs.
Jorge and Max arrive home. Juli enthusiastically greets Jorge. Max excuses himself. Juli and Jorge get their lovin' on.
Max calls Cons to let her know he will be there at least one more day. She whines about it. Flavia was out all day looking for Mauro and now she's at the university. Max tells her he's not in the DF because he wants to be. Cons says she knows.
Amaya confronts Whor with a pretty good right hook. She tells him that right now they may not have the proof that he burned ZE, but when they do...it doesn't matter if he's the father of her child. The full weight of the law will fall on him!
Flavia tells cons she is going to spend the day looking for her dad. Cons asks he to be home for dinner so she doesn't have to eat alone again (*eyeroll*) Flavia tells Cons she has to get used to being alone at El P.
Whor backhands Amaya. Not cool. Amaya insists he will pay for everything. Whor wonders how. The police have no proof. Amaya tells him karma is a bitch and you reap what you sow. Whor tells her if she's done with her zafarrancho de verdulera(crazy outburst), she can go. She tells him his conscious will never be clear. and accuses him of poisoning Cip.
Then Flavia asks Heriberto if he's going to go with her to look for her dad. He tells her that he can't. Now that she knows how he feels, it is hard for him to be in her company. Cons overhears.
The meeting is convened. Luc wonders why Juli is there.
Cons asks Flavia what she's going to do. Flavia is very surprised. She feels good when she's with him. She doesn't know what to do.
Max explains Juli is one of Mauro's children. All the children get to decide. Cesar asks about Flavia. Max had emailed her and she gave him power to vote in her stead. The all sit. Cesar announces they will decide who will be in charge of Nescafe until Mauro appears.
In the lobby, Jorge receives the news that the security camera footage only goes back 8 days. There's no way to prove Cesar put the mercury in the car. Amaya arrives and asks about the meeting. Caro notices the bruise on her face and Amaya makes up a lie. Caro is unconvinced.
Luc argues that Cesar should be in charge of the business. Max's forte is the production end of it. The country side, planting etc. Luc is just concerned about the business and economics, which is Cesar's forte. Cesar pipes in that he was in charge of the business while Max was in Italy.
Dr. Guapo arrives at El P and is greeted by Hector. He wants to know more about the people that used to administer El P about 35ish years ago. It is important to him. Mariana is happy to see the doc an upon hearing why he's there wants to know what he wants with her sister. Cara impactada de Dr. Guapo.
A vote is called. It's 4 to 4. Lucio is the deciding vote...and Luc has the power to vote for him. In the name of Lucio the vote is cast for Cesar. He is now the interim president of Nescafe! Freeze frame on Cesar in a slimy, power-hungry pose!
I'm disappointed, though that we're being prepared for Luce going bonkers. I want her in full control of her faculties when she gets her just desserts. I said it before and I'll keep saying it until the last episode. (Carlos Moreno Laguillo--don't take the easy way out, por favor.)
While not the most important action, Flavia's reaction to discovering Heriberto's secret admiration was also disappointing. A megawatt smile and a big hug would have been nice. Alas they chose to go with a more realistic reaction.
That Sal needs to butt out. He's becoming a nuisance. At any rate, Consta warned Flavia about him being controlling and manipulative. I guess she got the picture now. I feel sorry for Flavia and Heri because neither of them know right now how to bridge that gap.
I wish Consta hadn't been listening, but maybe there's a better reason coming later.
I'm pretty sure Caro will find out from Amaya who hit her. I wish she knew Max better and could go to him and tell him everything.
Despite what it means to Max for Cesar to take over the reins of Nescafe, Cesar really has more experience than Max running a huge company. It's just that Cesar is ruthless and he will be loath to give it all up when Mauro returns.
bad news: the wind turned my Univision into just a bunch of pixels
good news: yay recap and thanks Sara
I love Juliana and Jorge together but I had to laugh when I read " He promises to share everything with her and support her. He wants to build a life with her. Moon, stars, blah blah."
I'm not sure why but maybe because their relationship is so young and he's promising her the world
a little cynicism creeps in sometimes
I though Flavia's reaction was more about surprise than any class issue. I'm hoping anyway.
Lu was actually right about Max being better suited to the production end and being at the finca. You know who would be good at this without being a crazy jerk? Juliana. I know she's focused on her kid and her boyfriend now, but she's smart enough and more emotionally stable than either of her brothers. She'd be ideal. My vote goes to her.
Kelly
Nina!
totally off topic but its snowing here! and I'm so excited I have to tell everybody
this is only the second time its snowed here the whole year
so it'll still be a drought year, but maybe not so crushingly bad
So, S2S, I agree that this snobbiness in Sal is something new.
Nina--Sal himself comes from a social class or moneyed class much beneath the Montesinos and the Olazábals. He landed his job as professor on his own merits. He has no family money that we know of. So he's in no position to look down on people, unless they are below HIM, right? I guess so!
Kelly--I agree with you up to a point. Juliana is better suited than either Cesar (a despot) or Max (the laid back country boy) to head the company without Mauro. But does she really want it? Maybe only to obstruct Cesar.
Nina!
Excellent recap with many details.
I'd hardly call a recap with 3 parts
minimal. Many thanks.
If I need to eat Humble Pie over Sal, I promise to do so. I am still waiting, however, to see what happens with all of his rage. He is going to explode in one way or another.
I am dead set against violence, but if a woman hits a man, is it
okay for him to hit her back - in the name of equality?
Nina!
Sal is just a jerk, who'll do and say whatever it takes to tear his rival down, whether it's Max or Heri. With Heri, his status as a Montesino's employee was just an easy low blow. I think once the shock wears off, Falvia will realize that the warm, fuzzy "good" feelings she feels with Heri is love. I don't think she realizes that's how love is supposed to make her feel. She's always been with jerks who made her feel bad about herself.
Nina!
If you suggested that Sara "Lighten Up," on the topic of violence, your remark should have been addressed to me. I asked the question about violence and double standards between the sexes on this account.
When I first started watching TN's,
I was shocked at how the Latin women were portrayed as frequent, powerful SLAPPERS. Nine years later those women are still SLAPPING. Is this supposed to portray the norm for Latin women?
I don't like it one bit--no matter how bad they SLAPPEE is.
I'd be the first to admit that I watch to look at exceptionally handsome guys like C de La F,
but this discussion group has touched on many other topics than handsome guys, and I think we have learned a great deal through these chats
Vivi,
I like the way you expressed the meaning of love.
All the best,
Can't wait for today!
Vivi-I love your thoughts on Flavia and Heri. I'm pretty sure they will get together, but I want it to be NOW.
And I'm slow/late with this but I hope Mauro lives because even though he lost Florencia, Dr. Guapo is a product of that love. I think that is sweet.
You did not offend me whatsoever. I just wanted to make sure that you did not attribute my remark to Sara.
Anxious to see what's in store for us today.
P. S. if Max doesn't watch his temper he's going to wind up in jail, something cesar would just love.
Nina!
Nina! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Cesar grins triumphantly as he takes over the reins of Nescafé, Luce beams with pride, Juli is stunned and Max shakes his head in disbelief. Cesar moves to the head of the conference table and looks very solemn (his other face for triumph). He calls Max over to get some things straight. The most important is that he won’t approve putting up Nescafé money for Max to buy fresh gourmet coffee beans to fulfill his obligations for his first 3-en-1 product. Sorry, bub, what Max had was a personal arrangement between Max and Mauro, not him or Nescafé. Max says does he realize what this will mean to the project? Of course he does. Sorry, bub. Oh, and by the way, Whoracio is going to continue to work at Nescafé. Sorry, bub. Max and Juli leave—with Max warning Cesar that things are not going to be left as is. Cesar inwardly gloats, but it shows on his face. He tells his mom the only reason he’s keeping Whoracio on is to show his superiority to Max. Luce pats his face, concurring.
In the hallway, Max and Juli run into Jorge and Amaya. Max sees the bruise and asks if it was Cesar. She can honestly say it wasn’t. Jorge confirms there is no security tape existing for the day Juli caught Cesar fumigating her car with poisonous mercury spray. Left alone with Caro, Amaya admits it was Whoracio that gave her the walloping.
Cesar is thanking one of the shareholders for his support. Shareholder Guy reminds him that he’s always supported Mauro and Cesar. Now, without Mauro, he offers his help to mentor Cesar. Cesar does his best not to sneer, but says only stupid people need mentors. He knows Nescafé better than anyone, so thanks for the offer, but he won’t need his help. (I put this little exchange in because I don’t know if it’s filler or if it will be important later in Cesar’s downfall.)
Juliana comes back to remind Cesar that though he now has all the power to run Nescafé, she still owns 50% of El Paraiso, where the majority of Nescafé’s coffee comes from. No, Cesar hasn’t forgotten. Yeah, like that’s why he tried to eliminate her by poisoning her. Yeah, like he can’t get coffee from somewhere else and set her aside, if he so chooses. Juli says that is yet to be determined.
Dr. Guapo Marco Antonio Linares is at El P. with Hector and Mariana, inquiring into the old administrator, David and his wife Florencia and the relationship between Amaya and Mariana. Mari has to explain they are not real sisters. Mari’s mother was Florencia’s best friend and Amaya’s godmother. When Amaya’s parents died suddenly, or rather her father died and her mother disappeared, Mari’s mother took her in and raised her. He finds out Amaya is in Mexico City, but would rather talk to her in person about her parents.
When Dr. Guapo returns home, Angela is waiting for him. She is elated to hear the progress he’s made finding his birth mother, through Amaya. She’s his sister. He already knows her. No wonder he had such strong feelings when he met her. He’s going to go to Mexico to see her.
Iván and Heri discuss why Heri can’t be around Flavia anymore. He can’t stand being close to her after having declared his feelings for her, to her. It’s too uncomfortable. He’s going to have to leave El P.
Back in his office at Nescafé, Max is grumbling about their bad luck. Jorge suggests asking Manuel to lend them the money they need--again. Max agrees it seems their only option. Jorge dumps more suspicions on Max about Cesar he didn’t know, that Juliana believes it was Cesar who paid Whoracio to get Cipriano to set fire to EZ.
Flavia is still running around the nearby pueblos passing out flyers, to no avail. Heri is NOT with her (sniff).
Manuel and José visit a plastic surgeon. It will be a two step operation. They had planned to have it done after Manuel and Geno’s wedding, but José doesn’t care. He wants it done now, tomorrow and he doesn’t care if he has to wear a bandage because it’s just going to be a very small wedding anyway. Geno interrupts with a phone call to tell Manny how the vote went. She wants to quit, like now.
Passport Spy-Guy intercepts one of the Montesinos Mansion maids and sweet-talks her enough to find out Valeria is out of the country and won’t be returning for a couple of months. Dang. That’s not what Uli wanted to hear. He is in his hotel room daydreaming about Mariana. He tells PS-G to stay in the city for now. He’ll think of something else since that’s too long to wait. He “sees” Mariana again and thinks to himself, it’s all her fault he’s lost El Deseo and is holed up in this hotel room. She’s going to pay for not accepting him in the first place.
Juliana is at a computer with headphones and a voice-changing app. She tells Amaya she’s ready to proceed, since everyone is in the house. (This must be their great Mis Planes.)
Luncheon at the MM. They are going to toast Cesar’s new position. The meal is interrupted by a phone call to Lucrecia. It’s clear she doesn’t know who it is, but answers it anyway, getting up and moving away from the table. What she hears is not what she wanted to hear. Some strange voice tells her it’s Florencia calling. She knows she killed Mauro. She is to do exactly what Flo says or she will go to the authorities with the proof that she murdered him. Amaya “innocently” asks if there’s anything wrong. No, but Luce is going to finish the call in the study. Cesar could see the look on his mother’s face and gets up and follows her.
Elo, Lucio and Amaya are left when Amaya gets a text message that there is to be a family reunion that evening at 8:00 to disclose what happened with the disappearance of Florencia and Mauro. Lucio picks up on hearing Florencia mentioned and announces that Florencia is dead. Amaya can’t believe what she is hearing. Lucio says he heard it from Cesar and his mother. They said Florencia was dead. Lucio learns Flor was Amaya’s mother, but she can’t bring herself to tell him or Elo that Flo really is dead. Lucio gives Amaya a hug. She asks him not to say another word about this. He goes off to paint. Elo begs Amaya to tell her the truth about her mother. Amaya says she will explain everything later.
Meanwhile, in the study, Luce is trying to persuade the “caller” she can’t have any proof for something that didn’t happen. The “caller” insists that her whole family is going to know that night. She hangs up on Luce. Cesar is right there. He wants to know what is going on. They need to figure out a way to keep Flo away from the house. Cesar realizes “the caller” must be following through because he just got a text telling him about the family reunion. Obviously she’s going to tell the rest of his siblings how Luce is implicated. Luce pops a pill hoping all this will go away.
Max and Jorge are having a meet with Manuel in a local restaurant. They lay out their problem with the lost coffee and the need to replace it, along with their other suspicions about Cesar behind Whoracio, who in turn, was accused by Cipriano for setting the fire at EZ. Manuel says it doesn’t surprise him. Cesar has always had a problem with jealousy. The two guys will need an advance. Manuel says, no problema. He trusts them completely to live up to repayment. Manuel wants the pleasure of getting back at Cesar for blackmailing him with Genoveva into giving up his shares in Nescafé. Max gets his text message about the “family reunion.”
Back at the dinner table, Amaya tells about getting that “family reunion” text. Luce says she didn’t get one. Juliana arrives to share getting a strange text. It’s the same one Cesar got. Amaya is going to attend. Years have gone by without any word about her mother. Juliana is going to attend. It’s about her father. Luce tries to brush it aside as a prank.
Out in El P. territory, apparently Iván *has* been helping Flavia distribute flyers, we just didn’t see him doing it. Flavia gets the “family reunion” text. She calls Max and decides to catch a plane back to Mexico City to see what this is all about. Flavia gets back to the ranch and arranges for transportation to the airport. Iván reassures Heri that it’s family business and she’ll be back. He tells Heri if he’s really interested in Flavia, then he’s tonto if he just gives up on her.
Unfortunately, Flavia passes through the living room where bored-out-of-her-tree Consta now can cling to Flavia. Her dad told her about the “family reunion” and she’s determined to go, despite Flavia trying to dissuade her not to. (Apologies if anyone is upset I’m not reporting in detail, the little filler of Mari studying and Iván returning and getting into a little smooching.)
Juli and Amaya are back at Juli’s congratulating each other on how well Mis Planes went. Of course it’s not over yet. Amaya tells Juli what happened at the table, that Lucio said out loud that Florencia was dead and he heard it from Lucrecia and Cesar. Elo questioned her and Amaya couldn’t answer her. Juli reassures her that it’s ok, Elo is with them the whole way. In fact, she’ll go find her and tell her immediately.
Max and Caro 2.0 run into each other in the hallway at Nescafé. She spills the beans about what really happened to Amaya’s face. Just then Cesar is seen to approach and listen, unseen (Dagnabbit, has no one in these telenovelas learned not to convey privileged information in a public place or with a door open or in a loud voice? No puede ser.) Max takes off like a flash. Guess where he is going? To rearrange Whoracio’s face.
While Whoracio is waiting for something to happen, anything, but mostly getting upset that Cesar might have gone along with getting him fired. He fears Amaya went to Cesar with the story of how he’s the one who left her bruised. He decides to leave a confession and a warning on a computer recording in case anything happens to him. Everything he’s being accused of is true, but it was Cesar who was behind it all. If anything at all happens to him, an accident, whatever, Cesar’s is responsible. He extorted him and forced him to engage in elicit activities that only benefitted Cesar. He also tells on Cesar’s implication in the planting of plagued coffee at Uli’s finca El Deseo.
Whoracio hears a Who knock at the door. He slightly closes the lid on his computer and goes to answer the door. A tornado named Max touches down, leaving a path of destruction across Whoracio’s face, mainly. He speaks to the body on the floor—if he EVER touches Amaya again, Max will kill him, understood? As quickly as he made his entrance, he storms out. Cesar was a hidden witness to it all. He walks into Whoracio’s open apartment and scares the bejeezus out of Whoracio who has come to his feet. Cesar was coming to tell him he could come back to Nescafé, but wants to know what the heck happened to him. Once Cesar “learns” what happened, he tells Whoracio he must call 911 and denounce Max. Whoracio doesn’t want it to go that far. Cesar says Max deserves to be in jail. He tells Whor he has to call. He needs to trust Cesar. He does and puts on a good show for the dispatcher.
Lucrecia is seen in her bedroom talking to herself, to Florencia, to nobody. How are they going to keep her from talking. She thinks of something and has to talk to Cesar. She calls him. He doesn’t answer (because he’s very busy) and she leaves him a message to call her. She needs his help.
Whoracio thanks Cesar. Cesar THANKS Whoracio. While Whoracio is holding his head in pain, Cesar stands behind him, debating with himself whether to cross over to the very dark side. He picks up a fish-shaped metal ornament and….and….and…Freeze frame on Cesar’s uplifted arm and face
2.) And now it's mariana's fault that Uli is a first class jackass?
3.) arranging faces is about to get max into big trouble. he's headed for the pokey!
Can someone please tell me
what does the phrase (Mis) planes means?
Anita- thanks for the recap it was really good. short and to the point, can't wait for the next one.
Nina!
Nowadays, we make a note of it whenever someone says they have a plan. I think Aldonza on Sombra has "Mis Planes," too.
If you are truly guessing or speculating, please say so when you begin, with an--I think, it's possible that, based on what has happened, I believe, I'm guessing, it could be, etc. etc.
Thanks
Nina!
Thanks for taking the Jose episode bullet!
And Whoracio hears a Who was my favorite line. :)
Beautifully written and chock full of information.
My favorite line by far --
Whoracio Hears a Who ..
Shades of Seuss - Very clever - one of my favorite books. I always loved to point out to children how bad it is to be a Shirker.
One thing I marvel at is the fabulous air transportation service between Chiapas and Mexico
City and vice versa. It seems as if there is a flight every hour the way the Montesinos go back and forth.
More and more irons keep being added to the fire. I fear that the resolution of almost all the big plots will be left to the last minute, and there will be little time to enjoy the ultimate happiness and serenity long overdue the Montesino Clan.
Something tells me he's going to be the 9th victim of the Dead Pool Hit list!
Floridia- It helps when you have your own private plane like the Montesinos.
Nina!
What are Juli and Amaya planning for the family meeting? They can't conjure up Flor and Mauro.
Anita, Sara, Kelly, Vivi, Corazon and all our friends who comment!
I didn't know they were going to freeze frame on Cesar's uplifted arm: I'm squemish with anything being slaps and some punches so I paused! So, this is how Whor meets his end!?
I hope it won't be too long before someone finds his video on the lap top. Remember, he didn't close it so everything Cesar was saying to him, egging him on to call the cops on Max is being recorded there's just no video! So, I'm hoping if Max does go to jail, he'll be replaced soon by Cesar if he doesn't get himself killed first.
Everything is ramping up and I don't think they're going to give us a break until the very end! I'm down for anything except hurting Lucio or a kidnap Mariana 2.0. I hope the whole Uli thing is just an evil teaser. I wish he and Ceci would just finish each other off.
Can't wait for the two big meetings: all the sibs to hear the rest of Amaya and Juliana's mis planes and the small but powerful meeting of siblings Amaya and Guapo Marco Antonio Linares!
And, most of all, can't wait for big, loveable, huggable, TeddyBear/Patriarch Mauro to return!
I have read all the comments and love the interaction we've got going on on the patio! WE ROCK!
:D
Lila--You and me both. I'm in a hurry to see how this all works itself out, but it also means the tn is ending, boohoo. I want to see Mariana and Ivan's kids, Amaya and Max's kids, Mauro reunited with Marco Antonio and surrounded by all this love. The years with Lucrecia and Cesar out of his memories and happy with Eloisa.
Cecy and Uli are unimportant. I don't care if they never get caught as long as they stay WUN, busy with each other, plotting and planning fantasy break-ups of Mari and Ivan for the rest of their lives.
Becca? Becca who? Hector is better off without her, maybe with Chela, but's she's a bit of a dingbat (sorry Chela--I'd have more faith in you if you took the ribbons out of your braids--and changed your hairstyle, sort of like Dolores' braids).
Most of all, I'd like to see things between Flavia and Heri work out. She deserves someone who loves her for who she is.
Nina!

…and…and…and…he does it. The fin on the iron fish in Cesar’s hand comes down and punctures a hole in Whoracio’s head and down he goes. Cesar is astounded with what he’s done. He paces around near Whor’s sprawled out body examining his handiwork. We get a glimpse of the computer. It “seems” to still be running but Cesar is too swept up in his “accomplishment” he doesn’t notice. He keeps looking at the body on the floor (or I should say, WE have to keep looking at the body on the floor). The computer stops recording—or at least it goes dark. Cesar wipes the iron fish clean with his hanky.
Flavia needs transportation to the airport fast. She runs into Heri outside. She’s in such a hurry her speech gets ahead of her, making it very hard to understand her. I think the gist of it is she doesn’t think they should let the personal keep them from working together. Heri says but it does, after having declared his feelings for her and for how long he’s had them. He’s fully aware of his position here and hers. Flavia replies that they need to keep looking for her father, they need to keep working together. Can’t he just treat her like a good friend? Heri says please don’t ask that of him. (He’s being ever so polite, calling her Señorita and everything.) It would be impossible. She should please not insist. Flavia says she does insist—because, because she doesn’t want him far away from her (no quiero que te alejes de mi). Heri stands there quietly. Flavia asks him not to ask why because she doesn’t know herself. Just please don’t go and she will have an answer later.
Uli has called Cecy at La Tormenta. She’s in on his Mis Planes because she agrees that it’s a problem to have to wait for Vale’s return. So why don’t they go after the sister? Uli says that would be too complicated. He’s going to go crazy in the interim. Cecy suggests he come to stay with her at La T. He can hide and she’d be able to show him a real good time. He reminds her of Tia Becca. Cecy says that won’t be a problem. She’ll just show Tia the door and then they can be alone, with no one to recognize him. She’s tired of Becca hanging around anyway. Of course Tia Becca overhears most of the conversation from behind a potted plant (for once I’m glad there is an overheard conversation). He’ll come as soon as she gets rid of Becca. Cecy walks in on Becca and gives her a wad of cash to live on for a good long time, now that she’s to be leaving. Becca acts surprised (I think she is surprised it’s happening so soon.) Cecy wants her gone—g.o.n.e. today. She’s tired of her company, always criticizing and scolding. When the money runs out, Becca can call her and if she’s in the mood, she’ll take her back. A little later, Becca comes in to say good-bye. Cecy immediately gets on the phone to let Uli know the coast is clear.
Doctorcito is hurrying to catch up with Padrecito who is out walking in his tennies in the plaza. Dr. Guapo wants the skinny on Amaya. He wants to know how much she knows about *him.* Padre H. is quite taken aback when he tells him the reason is that he and Amaya are siblings. Padre says that can’t be. Amaya was the only child of David and Florencia. Dr. Guapo says on the contrary, David and Florencia had another child, 35 years ago. Padre says that child died. No, he is that child. David and Florencia were his parents, too. Here comes the story from what Dr. Guapo knows. A woman wanted to kill him (note he doesn’t say MOTHER). She gave him to a nurse to carry out the deed, but she took compassion on him and exchanged him for another infant that had recently died. (So, the baby’s tomb wasn’t empty after all.) The nurse actually took him in and raised him, even moved to Guatemala so the person who wanted him dead wouldn’t learn he was still alive. Padre wants to know how he learned all this. Marco Antonio. (Ok, I have to stop calling him Doctorcito or Dr. Guapo from here on) Marco Antonio tells Padre H. he knew nothing of the story, but before his adoptive mother died two months ago she told him. (Ok, now I’m confused. If he didn’t know the story until two months ago, how was it that he named his 7 or 8 year-old daughter Florencia, huh? A telenovela coincidence?) He knows his father is dead and him mother disappeared, but he wants to be forewarned because he wants to find this woman who wanted him killed.
Marco Antonio finds out his mother “buried” him and put his father’s name on the tomb. The Padre finally confesses to Marco Antonio that David wasn’t his birth father. Florencia married him to give Marco a father and a name. His birth father was Florencia’s gran amor de su vida, none other than—Mauro Montesinos. The man who disappeared in the river? Yes, Amaya is only his half-sister. (Oh, don’t you love this? Max and Marco are related through Mauro; Marco and Amaya related through Florencia, Max is not related to Florencia and Amaya is not related to Mauro. Whew, dodged a consanguineous bullet there.)
Dulce arrives back at “granny’s” place with a bag full of groceries. She asks about that new patient she has. Granny doesn’t want to call him a patient—only someone who needs help. She says he’s not doing very well, but at least he’s alive. Dulce wonders if it wouldn’t be better for a doctor to see him. Her patron is a doctor and would gladly have a look at him. Granny says of course, but she didn’t want to run the risk he might denounce her to the authorities because Dulce doesn’t have legal papers. She doesn’t want her deported back to Guatemala. Dulce says she’d rather run the risk than have the man die.
Despite the police patrols guarding El Deseo against intruders like Ulises, Ulises makes it in and out, after getting money out of his safe and only overturning a flowerpot (remember macete, from a couple of recaps back?) on the way out. The guards come up empty handed. Uli makes it all the way to La Tormenta uninterrupted. He arrives and half scares Cecy to death because he got all the way into her office. She greets him with an amorous hug and he responds. They kiss (please, anything else, off screen, please).
Juli and Amaya fill in Eloisa with all the background information they have on Cesar and Lucrecia, bringing her up to speed. It hurts her to know she has a sister who is so malevolent, but Eloisa is ready to make her pay. How could she get rid of Mauro? They give Elo all the evidence they have to take back to the house until they need it, for safekeeping. The plan is for Juli to talk about her suspicions about the death of Mauro and Omar. Elo leaves to be with Lucio, who has been left alone.
Max returns to Juli’s house all banged up. No, it wasn’t Cesar this time. It was Whor. Even Juli is surprised to learn it was Whor that hit Amaya. She didn’t want to say anything to avoid more violence. Max says there’s no way he was going to let that pass or that he would let him disrespect Amaya. Amaya impulsively goes over and gives Max a hug. One arm comes around to hold her. They want to know what happened. Well, he did his best not to break his face. Amaya goes to Max’s side gives him a kiss on the cheek and leaves quickly. After she leaves, Juli and Max sit down for a cup of Nescafé (we assume). He tells her about Manuel coming to the rescue with the funds they need. Jorge arrives home. He knows all about the dust-up between Max and Whor.
Cesar is reliving the fatal blow to Whoracio’s head. He thought it would be harder to kill someone, it being the first time. He prides himself for being in such good self-control. He arrives home and goes to see his mother who is splayed out on her bed. She tells Cesar her brilliant idea. The guards are to prevent Florencia—or anyone with her description—from getting in the house. Then they are to take her to Cesar’s apartment by force. Her eyes glow with the idea (of using force against Florencia). Once the two of them have talked to her, they will just get rid of her. Cesar is on board. It’s a good idea. If it doesn’t work, Cesar has plan B. He won’t tell her what it is, but she’ll soon know.
Two policemen show up at Whor’s apartment (that used to be Amaya’s). What? It’s just two policemen? Not the rescue squad, ambulance, first responders? He said on the phone the guy tried to kill him. Well, anyway, they find him dead and report the name of the assailant—Maximiliano Montesinos.
Out in the garden between the two houses, Amaya is complaining to Caro 2.0 that she shouldn’t have said anything to Max about getting whammed by Whor. She wanted to avoid what happened. Caro 2.0 says it’s a sign he still cares for her. Amaya thinks it’s too late for them. Caro 2.0 thinks it’s never too late for true love. Now they talk a little business. Caro offers to re-take the publicity arm for 3-en-1 so Amaya has less to worry about. She volunteers to call that cute Dario who helped them do the original video. Amaya says go ahead. She calls him right away and gets a dinner date out of it without even having to hint.
Geno comes in to their house to find Manuel sitting in the dark, concerned about the goings on in the Montesinos household with all those strange messages. No, he doesn’t know where José is. He seems to be enamored with his new car (and how). José is planning to race his car. The chavo in charge says if so, they have to start placing bets right now. They have to be careful not get caught. The chavo wonders if they have to “touch up” José’s car. He doesn’t know so they go off to look at it.
The family starts to gather at the Montesinos Mansion. Max is the first one in, followed by Juliana. Elo sees the fresh bruises on Max. He admits he made ground meat of Whoracio’s face. Flavia arrives with Consta in tow (I guess she’s happy to turn her over to Max. I think Flavia was suffocating.) Amaya stayed upstairs with Lucio so Elo could make him dinner. They decide it would be better for him not to attend the “family reunion” so Elo will stay with him. Cesar joins them. He sneers a greeting at Flavia and goes up to get Lucrecia. Consta is full of questions as to the reason for Max’s fights. He punts.
Cesar and Lucrecia are upstairs, checking out the last details of Luce’s Plan A.
Dinner at El P. is interrupted by an unexpected arrival. Becca has showed up, startling the heck out of everybody, especially Hector and Iván. They don’t want to listen to her, but she plunges ahead, don’t you want to hear that my niece Cecy has kicked her out of her finca because she continues to have dealings with Ulises? Hector thinks this is some kind of trick. But she continues anyway. Uli still has the intention of separating Iván from Mariana. They talk by phone and they are probably seeing each other somewhere because Cecy disappears at night and doesn’t return until the next day. She’s sure she wants to be free to do whatever she pleases. Hector still doesn’t believe her and thinks she may be there as a spy. No, she swears. She doesn’t need anything from them, Cecy gave her enough money to live on for a long time. She just came to notify them. Mari figures out, correctly, that maybe Cecy wanted her gone so Uli could come to the finca without fear of being discovered. Becca can tell they don’t believer her, but it’s the truth.
Juli and Amaya are upstairs, checking out the last details of Amaya’s Plan—ummm, that’s it, she only has one plan. They have all the evidence, plus one—a medical report that Cesar raped her. Juli is incredulous. One more thing against Cesar. They head downstairs. Max is pacing. He’s wondering who this person is who has the information. Luce is popping another pill. The doorbell rings. The maid comes in to tell them someone at the door is looking for Max. Agente Alvarez identifies himself and walks in with other police. They are there to arrest Max for the murder of Sr. Horacio Espinoza.
QQQue? Everyone has caras de impactados, including Luce and Cesar (but his is not for real). Max says there must be some confusion, he didn’t kill anyone. Amaya wants to know is Horacio really dead? Yes, found inside his apartment. Horacio himself called in before he died and accused Max of being the assailant. Max doesn’t deny it. He was there and they fought, but when he left he was banged up, just like he is, but alive. Luce wants to know why he went to beat up the Whor. He replies that Whor was the one responsible for hitting Amaya so hard. Cesar is all concerned and invades Amaya’s personal space to check it out. She brushes his hand away as if it were a buzzing fly and turns away from him. Cesar wanted to know why Max? Max answers that someone had to put a stop to him and if it wasn’t Cesar, who else?
Max has to go with Agente Alvarez—handcuffed, while they wait for the autopsy. He asks Amaya to go with them to identify Sr. Espinoza. It appears the blow Sr. Espinoza took to the head is what killed him. Max swears he never hit him on top of the head. Cesar will get an attorney to meet them at the police station. Amaya worries about what she’s going to tell Valeria. Max swears he didn’t kill the Whor. Amaya tells him she believes him. Juli calls Jorge to come over right away. They start out of the house. Consta runs after Max. The Agente gives him a moment to say good-bye. (I’m sure she’d go to jail with him to avoid her boredom and to keep Amaya away from him.) Jorge arrives. Everyone tells Max to be strong. Max swears he will prove his innocence. Cesar can be heard in the background saying something I didn’t understand—well there is general chaos as Max is led away. Consta gives Amaya a dirty look as she turns to go back toward the house. Freeze frame on Amaya’s devastated face
So does Constanza stop supporting Max and that's how we get rid of her? Or is there not a solvent strong enough to undo her love from him?
(Lots of time to discuss. I have a meeting tonight, and won't be able to watch Friday's until Friday night, so recap by Saturday).
Kelly
So. Whor has been pushed over to the other side and Cesar can now add murderer to evil curriculum vitae -- and he even overcame his phobia/disgust over blood to complete his first job. . .and he LIKED it.
My favorite moment was the fulfillment of my (not saying I'm the only one) suspicion that Granny's Greens aren't just for the nourishment of the body but for it's healing properties as well! And, it's better than I thought: she's actually taking care of Mauro! Yes!!!
More later, Anita! MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS for filling in for me and I am happy to do double duty next week. Just let me know the days
1
Nina!
I got the impression Marco Antonio always knew he was adopted. What he didn't know was all the drama behind how he came to be adopted and that's what his adopted mom told him before she died. She might have told him long ago that his birth mom's name was Florencia.
Lila--I'll be posting the new recapping schedule on Monday, but if Vivi steps in for one day, no one has to double up for Week 31. You would keep your regular Tuesday.
Vivi--Haven't heard back from you. Can you do Thu Apr 23?
Nina!--You'll have to put your theory away for this adoptee!!
lols Anita loved this line " Flavia arrives with Consta in tow (I guess she’s happy to turn her over to Max. I think Flavia was suffocating.) "
and this "Consta is full of questions as to the reason for Max’s fights. He punts."
Const may not be evil but she sure can be annoying
Just one more thing this show has prompted my imagination to come up with. The way the show is built seems to encourage speculation. I think that's why its so fun to watch.
and
I'm content to wait for Mauro's return patiently
As long as he's alive, it doesn't have to be right away.
Nina!
I just had a sickening thought: Now that Whor is dead, Vale will probably have to come home for his funeral unless Amaya INSISTS, because they are not out of the woods in terms of danger, that she stay in the States. Anyway, what if she and Alan come back for Whor's funeral (and probably finally?) and Uli gets his hands on one or both of them.
If that happens, it won't just be the guards at El D. that are lame. I would think with everything that's going on and increase in violence and the potential for danger that if Amaya does cut the summer camp in the U.S. thing short, that ALL the family would be super vigilant and protective of the children.
Hopefully with Becca finally trying to do something right and useful, they will go to the police and tell them Uli is at La Tormenta and remove this as a possibility.
I've been doing a lot of skimming of a lot of shows lately.
How interesting that Marco Antonio had similar plans as Amaya to confront Lu about her crimes.
Oh, I have to mention that it bugged me when the padre said Amaya was "only" his half sister. She's his sister, period. On his mother's side. And he now also knows he has MANY siblings on his father's side. What a bonus for someone with a tiny family. Let's hope he finds out soon that he's NOT related to Cesar. Juli will also eventually have the joy of knowing that.
Nina!
Thanks once again. Loved the recap.
I am very anxious for the good doctor to meet his father and get him to a hospital where he can have access to modern medicine. While the other curandera did well by Ivan, I believe it was stated that if he had been treated by a doctor, he would have progressed along much more quickly.
I hope someone can help me figure out how Marco Antonio was thought to be dead by Florencia. I cannot remember now how long that baby was supposed to have lived. Was it a few weeks or a few days?
In my mind, I thought the baby had died at home.
If Florencia was still in the hospital after his birth, how would this "killing" or "switching" take place? I supposed Lucrecia could have dressed up as a nurse and taken the baby out of the nursery and then given him to the "Good Nurse."
to kill him -- who then made the switch with a dead baby. Then Florencia would have been told that her baby died. That too was devastatingly cruel.
Any ideas?
Vivi, I like your rational for the naming of Florencia 2.0.
It looks like Caro will finally have a beau by the end of the story.
I am still wondering about Seething Sal and what will become of him?
Will the children come back due to Whor's funeral and get snatched, AND
What happened to the envelope of evidence that Amaya had once the chaos of the arrest of Max took place? Are Lu and Cesar going to get a hold of it? AND
Oh, I have to mention that it bugged me when the padre said Amaya was "only" his half sister. Totally agree with you, Vivi! What the heck kind of thing is that for a priest to say, of all people! Sheesh!
Ah! What will fill my afternoons with joy and delight when this is gone?
Ah! What will fill my afternoons with joy and delight when this is gone?
Hopefully NOT Muchacha italiana....
1.) Florencia
2.) David
3.) Dolores
4.) Emma
5.) Omar
6.) Cip
7.) Negro
8.) Gustavo
9.) Whoracio
Sara--I read the synopsis for Muchacha Italiana. I won't lose much not watching and I can get in more gardening. Unfortunately, it sounds better than what's coming on prime time from our frenemy, Mejia. How DARE he try to go one up on Cuando Me Enamoro (or La Mentira, if you go back even further). Well, he tried with Triumfo de Amor and see where THAT got him...well, well-paid actors get to live well until the next tn.
Vivi--I will put you down for the 23d (Week 31). Thank you so much.
Lila--Maybe you could take two slots, Tue Apr 28 and Thu Apr 30 (Week 32)?
Yeah, everybody--They couldn't have dropped bigger hints on who Dulce's "granny" is taking care of short of giving us a glimpse of Mauro. It wasn't that much of a stretch and WE are SO good at guessing, no? Let's get this part over with and back to Lucrecia and Cesar getting their anvils.
I am still hoping for Yo no creo en los hombres or El color de la pasión.
Then there was your "Or is there not a solvent strong enough to undo her love from him?" Great point of speculation! How do we untangle this triangle?
We'll wait to savor your recap on Saturday.
Lila--Yes, Cesar liked "it" but he can't show it.
Sneaky2S-They probably didn't even need the flowerpot scene. It was probably an excuse to use the word "macete" again! In fact, they didn't need that scene at all. Uli could have just shown up at La Torm and told Cecy he had to get some valuables before heading WUN.
Yes, it will be cool to have Marco Antonio being alive confronting Luce. It is just one more example of Luce's plans going awry. I can't wait for his confrontation. I hope he makes a stop to meet Amaya first so he knows how dangerous Luce is.
Sara--Mauro fell in the river and was never heard from again. The official report says he probably died and his body wasn't recovered because it probably floated downstream toward the waterfalls and then out to sea.
Of course WE all know Mauro LIVES, so where has he been? How was he saved? Ok, new characters are introduced, mysterious man in very bad shape, but alive is being tended to by granny-curandera and VOILA...it has to be Mauro!!!!!
Floridia--We never got any flashbacks of Florencia and the birth of Marco Antonio, so we are just as clueless. It's a tn trope called switching babies, even dead ones. From what I remember Amaya saying when she saw the grave, he only lived a few days. That would tell me this happened at home, so what would Florencia have known and how would Luce been able to carry out her plan. Maybe Flo had to stay in the hospital, or the baby did. I think we may find out.
Ok, gotta go. Will be out the rest of the day.
I can't remember what else I said. Oh well, show is on!
Nina!
And it helps so much if you are witty and maintain a certain level of snark through thick and thin. So accept those odd, tn-sourced moods as being completely normal.
Ok, folks, don't get ahead of me now. I still have to watch the episode.
Is there any etiquette for discussing key events in the episode when the recap hasn't been posted yet.
Makes it kinds ahard when the recap is a part of the comment page vs. being its own fresh post.
but
just in case
I wanted to bring up something I noticed earlier in the week and forgot about
When Horacio was making his 'if anything happens to me' video he mentioned Negro by nickname and it got bleeped, even out of my Spanish captions.
They didn't used to do this
Is this going to happen all the time now?
whats up?
I didn't notice anyone else commenting on this but if you did and I missed it - sorry
nd so I'll just wait until tomorrow. I read through you guys comments, they're pretty good. but the comments are more fun after the recap so I'm looking forward to the comments tomorrow too. Wasn't carey nation some kind of activist in the sixties? if that question sounds really off, forgive me I'm just really tired and I finally got a whole weekend off from work. Yahoo!!!!!!!! for me.
Nina!
1.) Surprised they showed a dead Whoracio in the morgue in the most graphic way!
2.) Amaya shooing Cesar away like a fly LOL.
3.) Cesar lurking & checking out his handiwork at the morgue.
4.) Why is boring Costanzia still here ? Even Caro is getting suspicious of her!
5.) Uli & Cecy Goldilocks still plotting kidnap Mariana & Ivan. Disgusting:(
6.) I don't trust Becca: her body language tells me she's still up to no good.
7.) Luc really losing it on a mental aspect. Why is she clutching her purse?
8.) Where is Lucio ?
9.) Max: I didn't do it you stupid incompetent police officers!
10.) Has anyone told Vale that her father, Whoracio is dead ?
11.) Uni finally showed previews for Monday's episode!
The acceptable etiquette is merely to wait until the West Coast has a chance to see the episode in "real time."
The recapper should have first crack at revelations. Many times a recapper will say the recap will be late, so go ahead and discuss.
Nina!--You are new to us and I'm not the one to lay down rules for all tns, but maybe waiting a little longer than half an hour to give us a reveal would have been a better choice.
Amaya started shooing Cesar away like a fly in the last couple of episodes. Her disgust is finally showing through. I love it.
Uli & Cecy still plotting kidnap Mariana & Ivan?? I thought they were still plotting to separate them by using some kind of plan they are hatching involving Vale.
They are in a dilemma of their own hatching. Both want the other's object of obsession out of the way, leaving them with no objects of obsession and only each other. Only Cecy is good with this plan. She doesn't mind not having Ivan as long as Mariana doesn't get him. Blech!
Steve, you don't trust Becca: her body language tells you she's still up to no good. I'm going to give her a pass. She's between a rock and a hard place.
Cecy has money and a place to live in, in which to do nothing, but no Ivan; Hector still loathes her for abandoning him and Ivan so many years ago, she has no place to go and her money will run out. But she's trying to make amends--to Ivan at least. She wants to re-establish her relationship with him. To do that she needs to be near him. We'll have to wait and see!
Lucio is being kept away from all the chaos and there are maids in the MM that will be with him.
Max has everything going against him right now. The "I didn't do it," doesn't hold up in a Mexican court of law, only if you are innocent. If you are guilty, it's accepted.
None of us think much of the Mexican telenovela justice system, so Max will have to stay in the clink until some evidence against Cesar shows up.
My question is where are the forensic investigators on this one? Did NO one pick up that computer from Whoracio's place? Grrrr.
Amaya is wrestling with how and when to tell Vale that her father is dead.
Nina.
Nina
Sorry this took so long. Lots going on now in the show and reality. If you’re in a hurry, here’s the quick summary: Lots of stuff happened and then read the last paragraph. Ohmigod!!!
-MM-
Max is off to jail. Cons releases from him and runs inside where Cesar tries to calm her down by rambling that’s it’s a shame that Max is involved in this. (He’s so helpful). He doesn’t WANT to believe , but yes, he thinks Max killed Horacio. He fake apologizes to her, while touching her stomach because he’s sooooo concerned about the baby, but he blames the fire at Zona Estrella and the fact that Hor was the first man in Amaya’s life, super subtly hinting that Max is still not over Amaya.
Cesar goes upstairs to Lu’s room to check in on her as she gathers her purse to go to the jail. Max going to jail is just the price they have to pay to get their Mis Planes done. She’s a little surprised that this is his Plan A. He tells her that Max didn’t do it, but he has to pay for the crime. Lu looks at him carefully and says, You committed the crime? Cesar grins, or what passes for a grim on his face.
-La Finca el Paraiso-
Beca is invited to sit down at the table with everyone. She asks Chelo, by name, for a glass of water. Chelo is surprised that Beca remembers her name. Of course she does! And this must be your daughter, Hydrangea. (She’s sweet talking a little, but it seems sincere so far). Hydrangea happily gets up for the water. Hector talks to Mariana and Ivan about the Ceci-Uli situation. Chelo sends everyone off to bed saying they’ll dicsuss it after a good night’s sleep. Beca is going to go find a hotel, but Ivan stops her because it’s too late for that, and he fofers her a place to stay at the finca. (If she was hinting for a room, it was subtle).
-MM-
Lu: “You killed him, right?” “Soy tu hijo”, grimaces Cesar. Lu does not want Max in jail, but Cesar thinks it’s him or us, and we come first. Lu goes along, but only if Max is out soon. Cesar calms her down.
Elo, downstairs, is going to the jail with Amaya. They talk, softly, about Lu and Cesar now having everything they want.
-Jailhouse-
Max is presented to the jailer. He proclaims his innocence. The Jail Guy thinks it was a crime of passion. Juliana speaks up to defend Max, but she’s shut down by Jail Guy.
-Finca el P-
Ivan apologizes to Hector for inviting Beca to stay. Hector isn’t surprised by Ivan’s nobleza (magnanimous behavior, super niceness). The kids are sure Ceci and Uli are together, but they get over that and get to kissing.
Chelo offers Beca some dinner before bed, and Hector tells her her room is ready when she is. She apologizes to Hector and wants his and Ivan forgiveness. He doesn’t believe her. She says Ivan is her priority and tells he sure as heck hopes so. (Hector is not in a forgiving mood).
-Jailhouse-
Amaya is brought in to identify the body. Elo and Cesar are there too. She’s shocked to see his body there but ids him. Cesar confirms. Elo provides some support to her. Cesar tries by going in for a kiss, but he’s soundly rejected.
Max is still giving his declaration (with the audience of his entire family), telling him about the fire, etc. Jail Guy is like, well that’s why you killed him! “No!” He admits to the fight, but they only fought, He’s not a murdered. Hor (little respect since the man is finally dead) was alive when he left. Jail Guy asks if he remembers anyone when he left, or about the door. Max can’t remember, but he thinks the oor was open when he left. He has no idea if Hor had enemies. He’s detained and taken away. (Is this sort of thing always done in public?)
-Restaurant-
Caro 2.0 finally finds her man! She’s at dinner with the pilot guy? Whoever he is, he’s sweet, telling her how beautiful, etc. she is. She’s all happy.
-Jailhouse-
Cesar, Lu, Amaya get to the main public room of the jail. Juli pulls Amaya away somewhere. Lu tries to pay off a lawyer to get Max out of jail, whatever it takes. Lawyer can’t do anything now. Because he did it, says Cesar. Everyone hates him more. Amaya and Juli talk elsewhere. Juli thinks it’s a funny coincidence that this happened just as “Florencia” was going to show up. She doesn’t want to be paranoid, but she thinks Cesar is behind all this. Amaya is not shocked. (A little paranoia in this family seems perfectly reasonable to me). Lots of various shots of people giving their testimony and Max in jail wondering what happened when he left.
-MM/Jail-
Back at “home”, Amaya prays for Max. She knows he didn’t do it. Max is thinking that at least Hor can’t hurt Amaya anymore. Lu hallucinates hearing voices. You can tell she’s going crazy because of the wobbly camera work.
-Next Day, Chiapas-
Uli and Ceci wake up together. He’s not so sure about letting Beca go and asks if Ceci is sure that she won’t turn her in. Ceci is sure. Beca would never be a traitor to her. She won’t go look for Ivan because he wants nothing to do with her, and she doesn’t have anyone else except Ceci. She’d never go behind her back.
Beca is at the Finca el P going behind Ceci’s back and helping Chelo with breakfast. Ivan has been wondering what to do and he has his own Mis Planes.
-Next Day, Jailhouse-
Constanza has gone to see Max, visiting him through the bars. He’s frustrated at being jailed for this injustice. She asks if he’s sure that Hor was alive when Max left. “Que? How could you ask that?” It was a question, Max. he tells her if it had been an accident, he would have called the police. How could she believe this of him? She tells him she didn’t, and proceeds to blame this problem on Amya. She detests that woman. Max rolls his eyes. (If he were to stay with Cons, he’d go blind from all the eye rolling he’d have to do).
Amaya gets to the jail abd asks to see Max, but has to wait since someone is with him. Amaya waits. Cons comes out and confronts her and blames her for Max being in jail. Amaya brushes her off and is led in with the food she brought. Cons is annoyed. But Max is happy to see Amaya, happier than he looked with Cons. She hands over the food, and in a stark contrast to Cons that Max picks up on, tells him she’s sure he didn’t do it. She knows he’s innocent and will do whatever she can to prove it. He thanks her for her trust in him and her belief in his innocence. There’s an awkward pause and they break eye contact. She asks is anything can prove his innocence. Then she tells him their suspicions about Cesar.
Outside in the lobby, Cons has called Cesar to tell him to control his woman. She doesn’t want Amaya in their lives anymore; she’s caused enough problems. Caro 2.0 is behind Cons signing in and eavesdropping. Cons tells Cesar that if Max goes to prison, it’ll be Amaya’s fault. Now Cesar is mad and says it’ll be because Max did it and quit blaming Amaya! Cons hangs up and huffs off, finally turning around to see Caro 2.0. Caro says hola and gets a snippy hola in reply. Manuel shows up to distract Cons. Flavia, Jorge, and Juliana get there and are told by Caro that she’s there with Amaya who is visiting Max. Jorge questions this, and Flavia asks what she’s doing with her brother? (These are the two good guys who don’t know what’s up yet).
Cesar??? Max is shocked. You’re accusing your husband of murdering Hor? Yep. He’s not a good person, Amaya admits. Then why’d you marry him? She had strong reasons but hedges as to specifics. Max knows it wasn’t money or power or all those reasons she originally gave him. He softly asks her why she married Cesar and not him. (Owww. Heart hurts). Amaya just looks sad.
-MM/Jailhouse-
At the MM, Lu is talking to Cesar at breakfast about putting his woman in her place. He agrees. She can’t just do whatever she wants.
Amaya refuses to tell Max anything. She says they need to focus on his situation and getting him out. “So I’m important to you?”, he asks. “Duh”, is the summary of her reponse. She tells him she loves him and rushes out while he calls after her.
-Finca el P/Finca la T-
Ivan has told everyone his plan idea and Hector isn’t so sure about this. Mariana thinks it’s nuts too. Chelo tells Mari not to get jealous. (??) Mari just thinks it’s too much of a risk. Beca will support him, but what reason will he give? Ivan will use Beca as an excuse, wanting to see his mother. He calls her mama, and she’ll all happy.
Uli and Ceci walk around the property and Uli thinks if it weren’t for Mariana, he’d be happy there. Ceci points out that this is temporary. She asks how he’ll live, and he says he’ll have a monthly allowance from his finca (I think). Whatever he said (and he’s not worth rewinding for), he’s not worried about money.
Beca is all emotional anout being called mama. Ivan will go back to La Tormenta and pretend he didn’t get his memory back and pretend he doesn’t know Beca left. He’s leaving today and tells them all to protect Mariana. Beca will stay there at el P. Hector is really not happy about this part of the plan, but if Ivan thinks this is ok, then fine.
-Chiapas, elsewhere-
Doc and Mrs. Doc are looking up Mauro online. They see pics of him and of his family, and all his new half-siblings. Doc says Max told him he looks like Mauro when Mauro was younger. They find a pic, and Mrs. Doc thinks they’re exactly alike. They can’t believe he has all these new siblings! Happiness!
Dulce is leaving her house, but abuela is worried about the patient. What if he dies? Dulce will tell her boss, but Abuela is still worried about the cops. Dulce (Jacinta is her name) calls Angela (Mrs. Doc) and tells her about the guy in her house that abuela is worried about. Jacinta wonders if Doc can ome to the house and check on him. Doc gets directions!!!
Mariana demands that Ivan promise he’ll be ok. Theme song plays and Heriberto says he’ll watch over her while Ivan is gone.
Doc gets to Abuela’s and they tell him they found this guys a few days ago. Abuela tried to cure him, and they tell him about being illegal from Guatemala and that’s why they didn’t do to the hospital. Doc gets it.
-Jailhouse-
Everyone wants to see Max. Cons says he has to get out of there and Manuel has to calm her down. Caro tells Amaya/Elo/Juli about Cons calling Cesar and tells Amaya to watch herself. Be careful. Juli will keep “Florenica” alive and Caro will help. Juli offers Jorge as well, and she’s sure that Cesar and Lu are behind all this. And speak of the devil and her spawn, in they come. Cesar demands to know why Amaya came to the jail without advising him. She wanted to support Max and she and the rest of the group walk away from Cesar. He tells Lu that Amaya is going to listen to him. (Ha!)
-Chiapas-
Doc walks into the patient’s room and recognizes him! “This man is my father!!!”

Thanks for understanding. The goof wasn't a big one--we saw Marco inside granny's abode in the avances the day before, so we kinda knew it was coming. Still, it's nice to give folks a chance to watch, digest and think about the episode before coming to the blog to comment.
Vivi--Yes, Alan is a good friend who understands. But, if I were Amaya, I don't know what I would do about Vale. She's old enough not to have this kind of news kept from her, so she should be told. This will mean ending the exchange program early and coming home to a funeral and the family chaos over Max's being charged and in jail. That certainly won't add any more positive points to her feelings about Max (although they had been coming around to a better relationship).
Once she is home, she's in danger of Cesar and Lucrecia and Amaya knows this, but now also, unknowingly from Uli.
If Amaya doesn't tell her, Vale is going to find out from Alan, surely (through Juli). That would be worse. Maybe Juli will help Amaya make the right decision.
Yes, Anita has it right about Dario. We met him way back when the gals went to Chiapas to film the footage for the campaign. His cousin works for the airlines and got them the info on Negro's flight to Chiapas.
As you said, not really important, but Uli was saying that he CAN'T live off of money from the find a, since the police have seized all his assets. Instead he will expect maintenance/blackmail pay from Ceci every month. She's happy to pay, as long as he keeps Mari away from Ivan.
Hate Ivan planning on walking right into that den of crazies.
Oh, but how we all know he's going to fall hard, far and fast. Can't wait!
I still hold out hope the writers haven't decided to give Luce a pass in her punishment by having her go bonkers for real. That's not a satisfying punishment. She needs to KNOW she was a bad person. It has to be shame in front of her family and jail.
You said it all in one sentence, Kelly: "(A little paranoia in this family seems perfectly reasonable to me)." The paranoia is the short cut to the end (as long as their paranoia is correct, and of course, it is).
The Max-Amaya jail talk made my heart hurt, too. I rewound it and watched it again a couple of times. There is such pathos to Max's softly asking Amaya why she married Cesar and not him. (This may not be CdlF's best role, but he sure can make a girl's heart pound.)

Nina!
"Lu tries to pay off a lawyer to get Max out of jail, whatever it takes. Lawyer can’t do anything now. Because he did it, says Cesar. Everyone hates him more."
"Max rolls his eyes. (If he were to stay with Cons, he’d go blind from all the eye rolling he’d have to do)."
" “Duh”, is the summary of her reponse."
Left early this morning and just returned. Terrific recap
Loved the revised name; this was very funny
Hor (little respect since the man is finally dead)
Absolutely loved the ending.
Can't wait for the meeting between father and son.
Anita, you are so right about Max. His character is played with such sensitivity and naivete at times,
you just want to go hug him --
and then there are times, when you want to embrace him for other reasons
Iván's plan seems absolutely asinine. Mariana is the only one with brains in that group. To me, it would have been far simpler and more effective to notify the police that there is a very strong suspicion that Uli is at La Tormenta. Carefully survey the scene and go in with appropriate
cover and protection.
Becca is a looney tune -- all proud of her son for doing something stupid, and Kelly, you are so right, the fact that Chelo mentioned jealousy made no sense whatsover.
The next few weeks should be fuln.
Thanks again to all recappers.
All the best ......
And no, Max shouldn't have been questioned out in a public area. But it was also done in Amor Bravio, so maybe it's a producer/director kind of thing so others can hear what is going on, without having to repeat everything or hearing it repeated by Max.
Ivan is an idiot, but I guess technically they need to fill out 15 more episodes. Calling the authorities is to quick a solution.
It is so good and so fitting that Marco Antonio see his father first and has the honor and privilege of saving his life! The Montesino children are in for a tremendous and wonderful shock, as is Mauro. I know others must have said this but I am so glad he will have his son born of his beloved Florencia. Everyone will be overjoyed! Except, of course, Lu and Cesar, which makes me happy.
As for Hor's (like your respectful dropping of the W) murder, agree that they have GOT to look at that computer. I guess we get to see Max languish in jail for a while while other revelations and actions unfold until the computer is discovered and Max is sprung.
I think we have seen the beginning of Connie darkening with Max locked up and not around for her to cling to. She is essentially allying herself with Cesar against Amaya. Can you imagine her saying "you need to control your wife"? The nerve! She has no idea the kind of evil and sick person Cesar is or she'd keep him at arm's length or more. But with Max away for a bit Connie is moving from annoying to bitchy and maybe worse.
We're in for more tears when Vale finds out about Whor. Please don't let them also have poor Vale be kidnapped on top of her father being murdered! At first she will find out the suspect is her beloved Uncle/Soccer Coach, Max, and then find out the murderer is the man her mother married! Both are traumatic! YIKES! Poor thing is going to need LOTS of therapy!
The other impactful story is the ABSOLUTE IDIOCY of Ivan cooking up some cockamamie plan to what, capture? expose? payback? Uli. Stupidest thing EVER! How dare he put Mari and himself through this after what they've already been through and they have a baby on the way! What would stop Uli from shooting him on sight! Idiot! Why don't they just call the police FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! You KNOW he's going to be in danger and Mari has to go through anguish A-gain. If Max were around he could surely talk Ivan out of this stoopid plan!
Anyway, back in a bit! Thanks again, Kelly!
Nina
YES!!
Goodnight all. enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Nina :-)! :-) :-) :-) :-)
I'm happy, too, that Marco was the first to see his father alive. It's fitting, isn't it? He is Mauro's first-born child.
If you want to know now:
Week 31 (next week, Apr 20) we have me, Lila, Sara, Vivi and Kelly for sure
Week 32 (Apr 27) we have me, Lila, Corazon, Lila and Kelly
Week 33 (May 4) we have me, Lila, Corazon and Lila on Thu May 7 (this may be the grand finale, if we counted correctly). We don't know yet if there is going to be a Friday, May 8, but Kelly is in that slot.
Lila said she CAN do both Apr 28 and 30, but if you want to take one of those evenings and if you also want to do Tue May 5, let's talk!!!!!
I do not like doing finale episodes, so I will leave that to the pros.
