La Sombra del Pasado #61, 5-12-15

Recap courtesy of HellaShelle

The Short: Pru tells E that Hum’s his dad. Hum clears that up, but refuses to tell E who his parents really are. E is furious. Lardo hits Val up for money; she refuses. Lardo wants to go after Pru for money, but Tomás threatens to kick him out if he does, so he backs down. Tomás wants Pru back. Adelina tells PJ she loved Ray. Sev forces himself on Sim! After some soul searching, Aldonza tells Cris she was raped…but not who did it. She worries how this will affect their future, but he’s in it to the end.

The Long:Emanuel asks Mari for help convincing her dad to help him buy Solitario. She eventually agrees. Simoneta tells Sev that he acts more like a jealous guy than a worried father, and reminds him that Cris is much younger and whole of body.

Sev takes that direct hit but, surprisingly, doesn’t return it. Instead, he leaves.

Silvia and Pato work over coffee in a café. Silvia wants to work on a case about some building. She thinks the arguments are weak. Pato advises her to have Ren look at them.

Renato drinks in the dark, remembering Aldonza kissing Cris in the hospital. He ignores Silvia’s phone call. Pato’s on the phone with Lola, who’s too tired to accept his dinner invitation. He looks unsure of whether or not he wants to continue with this tepid relationship. An agitated Joaquin comes over. Flavia hasn’t come back yet and he doesn’t want to wait any longer. He wants to charge her with abandonment and kidnapping. Tonight.

PJ and Adelina are having dinner. PJ never thought Flavia would go this far. Adelina feels guilty about the situation, but PJ tells her she shouldn’t, they had problems before. Adelina still feels weird because Joaq seemed so distant when she offered her support. PJ tells her he thinks Joaquin’s hung up on her, but maybe doesn’t want to admit it to himself or is trying to protect her from the evil gossip of SL.

Lola and Emmanuel run into each other and have awkward hellos to the sound of tragic Spanish guitar. Em is in the middle of saying the Zapata house was never his home, when they are interrupted by a crazed and screaming lunatic with the best wardrobe in SL. Pru shrieks that Em is a good for nothing and Hum’s not leaving him anything, so he’d better not ask! She finally notices Lola and snaps nastily at her that she just wants to trap Em now that she knows who he is. Val’s the most important for Hum, Pru sneers in Em’s face, because she’s the legitimate daughter and Emm’s just a bastard. Since Em is still the strong silent type, Lola jumps in to tell Pru she’s a witch just like her daughter. Pru lifts her purse to smack Lola, but Em will only take abuse, not watch it meted out to his loved ones, so he grabs her, gets in front of Lola and yells at Pru not to touch her. Pru banishes him from the kingdom of her house for all time and then stalks away. Em and Lola, still in shock, contemplate that he’s the doctor’s son.

PJ asks why Adelina never paid Joaq any mind. She admits that he’s attractive, but confesses to PJ that her only love was Raymundo.

Silvia, Joaq and Pato arrive at the police station where they appear to be talking to the Chief, rather than a regular officer. Silvia makes Joaquin’s charge against Flavia for abandonment and kidnapping.

Lady in black Val is off to raise hell in her leather dress. Her slimy Frog Prince is waiting for her, having somehow gotten into her car without setting off the alarm. He scares the crap out of her, then apologizes as he’s come begging for money. It’s serious, he whines, people are after him. She refuses since he’s done nothing for her in terms of seducing Al or getting dirt on her and tells him to ask his bank manager dad. He claims he has, but no dice. He begs some more, but she doesn’t care and kicks him out of her car.

Cris is paying a waiter. As he leaves, Cris thanks him with a seriously lack of wedding night joy. He goes over to a bottle of champagne on ice. He picks it up, then roughly drops it back into the bucket before looking at the bedroom door.

Inside the bedroom, Aldonza lays on the rose-petal strewn bed, still in her wedding dress. She gently fingers the roses of a bouquet, but her mind is on the earlier encounter with Sev downstairs. She hears the doorknob turn and closes her eyes. Cris enters and slowly approaches his “Sleeping” beauty. She pretends to wake up as he crawls onto the bed behind her, claiming she lay down for a second and fell asleep. “You don’t have to explain anything.” He says. “I’m here for you.” He kisses her arm and tells her he ordered champagne. They kiss softly, and it even looks like we’ll get a montage love sequence, but Aldie’s pushing off Cris’s vest abruptly becomes Aldie pushing Cris off of her. She kneels on the bed, urgently telling Cris not to come close and not to touch her. A bewildered Cris insists that he won’t hurt her, he won’t do anything she doesn’t want. “Leave me alone,” she repeats. “Leave me alone, don’t touch me. Leave. I need to be alone.” Cris silently does what she asks.

Simoneta is packing when Sev returns to the hotel room. She says she doesn’t even know why she came, but now she’s going home. Sev  begs to differ, but Sim says he’s been in a horrible mood since they ran into his son and that girl so she’d rather not around him because no one will convince her that he’s like this because he wants Aldonza. Sev says she doesn’t run her life as he grabs her roughly by the hair and tells her she’s staying, and she’s staying in his bed because that’s why he has her. She says he’s hurting her, but he says he doesn’t care. She begs further and he rough shoves her down unto the bed. “No, no, no…” she pleads, but he talks over her, saying she’ll like it…

Back in another hotel room, the bottle of champagne sits in its bucket and two champagne flutes stand at attention on the coffee table as Aldonza comes into the empty sitting room. She’s changed into jeans, a shirt and a jacket. She calls for Cristobal, but it’s obvious he’s not there. She takes a deep breath as a tear runs down her cheek.

Cris is on his way out of the hotel.

In life changing turmoil, Aldonza once again seeks solace in the nunnery. Bernadita has brought her to the Madre Superiora, reminding her of who Aldie is. Tears are streaming down Aldonza’s face, so MS hugs her, shooting Bernardita a confused look over Aldie’s shoulder. Bernie doesn’t know what’s going on either. With a nervous chuckle, MS teasingly scolds Aldonza for not inviting her to the wedding. Aldonza didn’t think she knew, but the MS says the sisters don’t know how to keep quiet when they’re excited. She says it’s ok, but when Aldie has the religious ceremony, she’ll have to invite her. In fact, they should have the religious ceremony there! Aldie interrupts, saying she doesn’t think she’ll get to have a church wedding. MS sends Bernardita away so that she and Aldonza can talk. Aldonza doesn’t say anything right away, so MS reminds her that she was a woman before becoming a nun and at this point in her life, there’s not much that can shock her.

Cris has found his way to the hotel bar. Fiddling with his wedding ring, he orders a double tequila and wonders what the hell just happened as he downs it in one gulp.

A drunk Ren returns home. His dad asks where he’s been and what’s wrong. Ren says Aldonza got married that very morning. Ren confesses that he had already built a fantasy life, complete with children. He felt like Cris and Aldonza were just made for each other. When is he going to find a woman like that, he wonders helplessly. His dad tells him, as any good parent would, that everyone goes through what he’s feeling right now, and no matter what advice he gives, the pain won’t go away today or tomorrow because losing the woman you love is the hardest thing you’ll have to go through. Ren cries that he loves her. He loves her and it hurts his heart. He doesn’t want to live without her! Dr. G tells Ren not to force it, but that he’ll get through this because he’s strong. He’ll find the right woman when he least expects it. His dad prescribes sleeping it all off then helps Ren stumble up the stairs.

Pato and Silvia return to their hotel, discussing the surprising amount of work they have (2 cases) in this small town. Pato goes off to bed, while Silvia sits on a bench, remembering her conversation with Ren.  She asks him to forgive him on the night wind.

Aldonza thanks MS for listening to her and asks if she can go to the chapel. MS says of course, and she’ll be there for her whenever she needs.

In the bar, Cris relives Aldonza’s freak out. A lady stranger in blue approaches holding a cigarette. She asks him for a light, but our Cris only smolders, he doesn’t smoke. No problem; she’s brought her own props. She hands him a lighter from her purse and he lights her up. She can tell he’s not from around here, she’s never seen him before. He admits that no, he’s not. She notes his bad mood, and he says he’s not at his best. She’s sure she can make him smile. Is this Devil in a Blue Dress going to cure his blue balls?

No, she might be putting the moves on Cris, but he raises his hand to show that he’s a married man. She respects that and is glad he didn’t try to hide it from her. He leaves, buying her another drink on the way out.

Bernardita comes to offer comfort to Aldonza as she cries in the chapel. She doesn’t know what’s wrong, but she can tell Cris just worships the ground Aldie walks on. Aldie loves him too, but there’s just so much between them. She’d like to stay longer, but it’s getting late. Bernardita stays behind and asks got to bump her prayers down the list and give Aldonza priority. She’s adorable.

Irma goes home and goes straight to the phone, asking Mari if anyone called – Lardo, maybe? Mari says no, and Uriel says they should trust Sev; he’s gone to DF to straighten this all out. Irma goes to make dinner and Uriel goes to his room. Mari calls out to him, but he says later. He notices the open drawer in his bedroom, the missing watch and money. He asks Mari about it. Irma comes in and Mari confesses that it was Lardo. She doesn’t know what he told them but he’s still in SL…and it looks like he’s in serious trouble this time.

Abelardo’s poker buddy wants his blood.

Lardo sits on Tomas’s couch as T remembers his lustful encounters with Pru. Lardo says he’s going ahead with his plans to blackmail Pru. Tomas tells him to forget it. Pru already broke up with him and he’s actually hurt about it. Lardo’s disbelieving. Tomas can have a thousand old broads. Well Tomas only wants Pru and if Lardo keeps trying to going after Pru, he needs to get out of his house.

Cande and Val are dining and plotting. Cande’s worried because she hasn’t heard from Cris. Val wonders what they’ll do if Cris stays in DF with Aldonza. Cande doesn’t even want to think about it, but if that happens, she’ll make Aldie sorry she was ever born.

Cris is sitting on the couch of the hotel room, fiddling with his wedding ring when Aldonza comes back. He stands. He was only waiting for her to tell her he’s packed and ready to leave. She says they need to talk. He wants to know what about. The fact that she doesn’t want him at all? Aldie assures him she loves him more than anything in the world. She never thought she’d confess this to him but he’s her husband now, and she doesn’t want secrets between them. What happened wasn’t his fault. Whatever it is, he wants to know. She tells him…well, she tells him that years ago, when they first met, she was raped.

Cris is clearly affected. He immediately asks who it was. At her silence, he yells at her to tell him. Tell him because he’s going to kill the bastard!

Lardo gives in. He won’t bother Pru as long as Lardo doesn’t kick him out.He also asks Tomás to pawn the watch he stole. He leaves the room and Tomás immediately calls Pru. She’s going to hand up, but he insists that they see each other, even if it’s for the last time.

Under pressure, Aldonza says it was one of her mother’s lovers. Cris wants a name, but Aldie says the damage is already done, he won’t fix it that way. Cris doesn’t care, he needs to even the score, but Aldie pulls him back. Whatever he does, no one will believe her because her mother was who she was. Cris admits she might be right, but they can’t just leave things like this. She doesn’t want to keep going on with this, it’s painful. She walks into his arms and he finally realizes that his thirst for revenge isn’t what she needs right now. He apologizes for making her feel bad. She apologizes for not being a true wife. He frames her face in his hands as he tells her not to say that. None of this is her fault. He hug.

Emmanuel tells Hum what Pru said. Hum says no, he’s not E’s dad. He can’t lie to E about something this serious. He told Pru that to shut her up, but E says it just made things worse. And now E insists on knowing who his dad was. Hum says he doesn’t know. He doesn’t even know E’s mother’s name. He only met her the one time, when she gave birth, and then she died.  E thinks he’s been an idiot to believe that weak story for so long. If Hum agreed to take in a child, he must have at least known the mother’s name. Well, he’s going to find out the truth, with or without Hum’s help.

Aldonza and Cris lay snuggled in bed, fully clothed, over the covers. Aldonza wonders what will happen if she can never get over this. Cris tells her not to worry about that now, but she insists that it’s a very important part of their relationship. He tells her he didn’t marry her just for her body. But they married to be together, she continues, and to make a family. She does want children. Cris assures her he does too, but for right now she should stop tormenting herself. He loves her and he’ll always be with her.

Cande and Sev fight over the phone. While Sim looks at Sev with slightly opened eyes. Cande says she would take care of this if she were there. She wants to know where they are because she’s coming to get her son herself. Sev says she’s crazy and hangs up on her. Sim has put on a robe. Sev asks what her problem is and she says he’s unrecognizable. He’s never forced her before and he doesn’t know how awful it is. He wants to know why she’s upset. She knows him: If someone says he can’t have something, then he takes it by force. Well, she’s not a something, Sim says. What’s more, he’s spent most of the time talking to his wife and she’s getting tired of this. Sev says that he and Cande have a son in common. Sim says Cris is making his life the way he wants. She wants to know why he stays with Cande and he finally admits that there are other things that tie him to Cande. The most important is Las Animas, but there are other things. In any case, he and Cande will be together until death do they part. And Sim? Well she’ll be as she is. If she likes it, fine. If not? Still fine.

Thanks for the recap, HellaShelle!

Thank you so much, Hellashelle! I only watched out of the corner of my eye last night and definitely needed the short AND long version!

Lola and Emmanuel run into each other and have awkward hellos to the sound of tragic Spanish guitar.

Hahahahaha!

Gracias tanto, HellaShelle! You turned this dreck into poetry.

I was pretty pissed off at Cris until he finally realized HIS needs weren't the most important in this situation. I blame some bad directing. Since last episode he's looked really cranky for no apparent reason. I was starting to wonder if I'd missed an argument. Even, as you said, signing for the champagne...they could have put that scene after the one where she pushes him away and his attitude would have made a lot more sense. So, thanks, show, for continuing to make Cris look like an asshat until the last five minutes.

There's a parallel between Adelina and Aldonza with the keeping of secrets. And maybe if she had a little awareness of that, she might have some more compassion for her aunt. Aldonza of all people knows damn well how hard it is to tell "the whole truth" sometimes. Hopefully when Cris finally finds out all of it he'll be kinder to Aldonza than Aldonza was to Adelina.

More later...I'm working in the kitchen today.

Thanks so much Hellashelle. I had a hard time getting into last night.

I don't blame Cris, but his shouting for vengeance was a bit much. Little too macho, but he backed down thankfully. But I've said this before...since Allie has never dealt or sought help on how what happened would affect her when faced with physical relations, makes me still wonder how much of this she can work through with the man she's trying to be with is the son of the man who raped her. That's a much bigger issue. I hope they treat this plot line with the need it deserves but there's no resident shrink in SL, I don't think the good sisters are really qualified and Hum is a doctor doctor. And frankly, can't handle his own problems.

Speaking of which, E-man is being pushed to dangerous territory trying to seek out his parentage...and who can blame him. He's not so clueless he doesn't know that people are lying. Lord love him, cut this man a break.

Ok, I'm going to admit, I'm ok with Ren's dad. So he tried the horizontal once with Roberta, but he is such a cool dad to Ren.

Our Bod Squad is so not batting a 1000. E-Man is a mess, Joaquin is going crazy for his son, and Ren's heart is broken. We need a group hug on the patio.

I can't even comment on Sev anymore. What is there to say about slime? And anyone else think Lardo is a dead man walking? Even Val has hung him out to dry.

Daisynjay

Daisynjay, I'm surprised his poker buddies haven't turned him in to the cops. Maybe they don't know the cops are looking for him.

I swear, if they try to sell us the "Now that we're together, our luuuuuurve will magically fix everything" angle, I'm going to scream. Maybe later, we'll see that the Madre Superiora heard the whole story and said "Get thee to a therapist!" There's a reason we have these specialists. Not everyone can tackle everything on their own. Nobody looks askance at me if I call a plumber because I can't replace my hot water heater on my own. Sure, there are some people who can. I'm just not one of them. There's sure as hell no harm or shame in getting the help of a mental health professional when one cannot deal with one's problems on one's own, Aldonza!

...but his shouting for vengeance was a bit much. Little too macho, but he backed down thankfully.

I had similar thoughts while watching.

Aldonza needs help. Punto. I'm not just talking about the rape. I'm thinking about her unresolved issues with Roberta.

Yeah, pro tip: Cris' response? Not the way to react when someone reveals a trauma to you. A better response "I'm so sorry that happened to you. I'm here for you. Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me." Was his actual response realistic? Unfortunately, yes.

Thanks so much, Hellashelle!

I actually liked this episode. It showed Aldonza facing and acknowledging one of the (if not the) biggest traumas in her life; telling Cris about it; and the two of them talking about the consequences while being united and loving. Good stuff. I think it will have to be pointed out to him later, and the audience clearly saw that his enraged response is why Aldonza couldn't tell him the whole truth about WHO her rapist was. At least he acknowledged his mistake right then and there and did the right thing being loving and supportive after that.

I don't know why Hum keeps holding on to Sever's lie about the baby (Eman) for him. He's got Adelina and Padre breathing down his neck, and now Eman-- all demanding the truth. How can he stand to keep lying to them?

He's more scared of Sev than of the rest of them, would be my guess. And while the "Roberta's your birth mother" part is sad because she's gone and he won't have the chance for a relationship with her the "and Severiano is your biological father" part is...damn, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Kat- Yes. But at least then he would know that he has a brother (Cris), a sister (Al), and an aunt (Adelina) too.

By the way, Uni cut a chunk of the scene where Aldonza freaks out. She and Cris got pretty hot and heavy, and then you see her going into her thoughts and remembering the rape. That's when she freaks out. Here it is: By the way, Uni cut a chuck of the scene where Aldonza freaks out. She and Cris got pretty hot and heavy, and then you see her going into her thoughts and remembering the rape. That's when she freaks out. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZlMGx4iR38

If we could just eliminate Sev from the equation. So many things would be easier.

I wonder why they cut the scene. Did they think our delicate American sensibilities wouldn't be able to handle it? I think it's a more cohesive scene with than without.

Ah the old Uni scissors struck huh? It always amazes me that it's felt US audiences are either horrible prudes or can't handle seeing difficult scenes.

And I agree with you Vivi on Hum. He has a ounce of compassion and love for this poor man-child he raised, he needs to start rethinking his allegiances. He should tell E-man the truth, throw Pru to the curb, or pack his own bags and then leave town. Sev's one arm doesn't have THAT kind of reach-- he's more a small town hood with a few places connections. But no one is actually "bought off" if you watch the interactions.

Let's hope that now that Sev has ticked off Sim and Hum is on the ledge about E-man, we start to see characters moving away from the dark side and seeing Sev for the bully he is.

I have to say, something about Ren's outcry to his dad last night made me think Sylvia isn't in the running for a finale hook up with Ren. Can't put my finger on it. Wonder if she winds up with Pato? They have a comfortable friendship that maybe could result in more? I think Pato isn't loving this Lola luster so much anymore.

And there is Mari hanging out there. maybe all this with her brother will wake her up and stop being such a whiney three year old.

Daisynjay

Pato seems better able to see reality with Lola than Ren has been able to with Aldonza. And Lola actually gave Pato a chance at a romantic relationship, unlike Aldonza. Both these city boys need to give up on their country girls. I'm surprised Val or Mari haven't set their sights on one of them; instead they continue to pine for their country boys, Cris and Eman.

Daisynjay, yep, it's his reputation Sev uses as currency. Without that he's got no leverage. Most of the people he's dealing with aren't corrupt. Humberto is the only one he bribed.

I would like to see Humberto and Simoneta turn on him too. Oh the fireworks!

Hellashelle! Thank you so much for this recap. I just LOVE the long and short of it format! It's just freakin' brilliant! The short once was to the point, yet comprehensive, and the long one was richly detailed and like watching the show! Thank you!

I have to admit I was yelling at the tv when Donnie went to the nunnery and the "devil in the blue dress" (love that and the blue balls reference) offered to relieve Cris's stress. I thought Donnie was going to spend the night at the convent and that Cris. . .

Well. It didn't happen. I am so happy Donnie told him about the rape. I think we all knew the identity of the rapist could not be revealed yet but I bet Cris is going to figure it out. And the slimy rapist has struck again!

With the rape of Simoneta I feel like she's going to be instrumental in Sev's exposure as Donnie's rapist and in his downfall. This assault has been a pivotal event in Sim's life.

Now the slugs. Glad to see Lardo running scared and oh, poor Tommy the stank engine, he miss him Pru-ey! FRICKIN' BASTARD! You go, Tomas, collect the goods and I hope Lardo follows you, gets some photos and manages to get some cash outta your ass and blow the top off this whole stinkin' little tryst!

Finally, loved how Cris was so tender and comforting and protective of Donnie. They're going to work through this. We really DO have to just wait and see what these two are going to do: there's no predicting!

Thank you, Hella! Love it!

Maybe Val should take a trip to D.F., check out Renato's house, and then maybe she'll change her mind about which galan she wants to marry so badly.

Vivi, Mari has salivated over both the city boys, but I'm not sure Val has ever noticed them. She was more busy at that engagement party watching Aldonza so she could gloat.

Hellashelle, thank you so much for doing this recap. I really appreciate all of the recappers.

Thank Eli for the yesterday's recap.

I think all of SL could do with some group therapy! What a mess SL has for residents.

I am sure Hum could be facing multiple charges regarding the birth of Em. He could end up in jail which is the "hold" Sev has over him.

Maybe we could fix Ren up with the girl in the blue dress in the bar. Well, maybe just a temporary fix.

Sim is much smarter than I thought. She now has Sev's number. I bet she goes to the light and joins team Aldonza.

Rosemary Primera

Vivi, thank you for the link to the FULL attempt at consummation scene! What idiots to cut that out! It was absolutely critical to the whole story. Maybe Uni is afraid some U.S. group will complain about "them Mexicans bringing their dirty smut to the U S of A and corrupting righteous Amerkins!"

Whatever.

Good work, Hellashelle!

There is no question that Aldonza needs a shrink. She has too many unresolved issues and Roberta is among them. Living in a Peyton Place like Santa Lucia means your life will be hell if your mother is the town whore. I wonder how much of her work she brought home with her and whether any of those clients ever laid the wrong kind of eyes on Aldonza.

Simonetta beter have he life insurance premiums up to date.

Thank you for the recap, Hellashelle!

Padre J was quite cara de OMG when Adelina revealed her big crush on Ray.

I felt badly for Ren, but Aldonza was always honest with him about Cris. Still . . . come here young'un and I'll comfort you. (....cougar roar....)

Vivi - Thank you for the video clip. There was nothing R-rated about that scene that Looneyvision cut. The part we actually got made very little sense to me.

”Our Bod Squad is so not batting a 1000. E-Man is a mess, Joaquin is going crazy for his son, and Ren's heart is broken. We need a group hug on the patio.”
(((Hugs!)))

Lila - in the edited clip, clothing was 100% still on the bodies. We have seen far worse in telenovelas. Gah . . .

OMG, Doris you crack me up with the cougar roar!! Yeah, there are few us older ladies that would be happy to comfort that young man. SIGH

And, I don't think I would wish Val on ANY guy, so let's keep her out of Ren's radar area. Since Lardo is in a bad place, maybe Val can hook up with Val. He fell for her mother, she's a clone, younger, and much easier to get horizontal. I would love to see a fast forward with her hanging clothes out to dry, he with a beer paunch and still not working and kids running around.(apologies to the kids). Serve her society climbing butt right.

Daisynjay

meant Val with Tomas...been a long day.

Daisynjay

Do y'all think Tomas wears eyeliner? Especially last night, I kept thinking how he looks one step away from the "Goth" look that was in style 15+/- years ago.

Thank you HelleShelle---For a great job.

I didn't like it when I read what Cande said. She/Cande will Aldie sorry that she was ever born. Not good. For sure not good.

We have Cande ready to go on a tare and Severino wanting to have his way with Aldonza again, how can Donnie make it through all of this. Hide out with the nuns? This is shaping out to be one rough marriage.

It looks like Simoneta is off of the happy camper list. Maybe she will help in the fight against Sever.

Vivi 5/13 19:00PM Right, Val would flip if she ever saw the house in the D.F.

Can't wait for tonight. 6 hours to go to must see tv.
the gringo

Daisynjay- True. I wouldn't wish Val on anyone (except Lardo and Tomas). Just seems odd that here comes a hot, rich, single, city dude, in an amazing car, and he doesn't even get half a glance from the main social climbing ho? Val needs to step up her ho game.

this is sooo good hellashelle, thank you.

Vivi, appreciate the clip and makes much more sense and can see how confused Cris must have been

For once Aldonza came back to face Cris and talk as adults. I feared she would go into hiding again.

While Aldonza did act like Renato's gf at times and told him he might have a teeny weenie chance at some undetermined point in the future, accepted legal assistance pro bono while knowing he was in love with her, his crying over losing her as his wife and mother of his children, delusional. Face reality boy.

I like Cris and think he handled the whole evening well for a young man. He was blindsided by this revelation. He and Aldonza want revenge on the man that violated her. Bet PJ goes ballistic if he finds out too.

I could just choke Humberto sometimes.

From what I just read, sounds like sev raped sim, and he was probably thinking about aldonza. Sim said he never forced her before. And she did't seem to mind It. the sick bastard. What would cris do if he found out his twisted daddy raped his wife. And why can't he and deminted cande seperate? It's not like their in love. I don't think they'd know love if it bitchslaped them. And sev thinks he's hot stuff in the sack. He's a legend in his own mind. He's just really slimmy. I wouldn't mind at all if he died before the show ended. But thats my thinking.

Nina

Nina- Cande doesn't want to separate from Sever because she wants to save face, and doesn't want to be gossiped about as a divorcee, and probably doesn't believe in divorce for religious reasons. Sever can't/won't divorce Cande because SHE'S the owner of La Animas, the hacienda/ranch on which he runs his very lucrative horse breeding business.

Hi all,

Sorry the recap went up so late and was rushed. I had a whole fairy take theme going, but then my day exploded. Sigh.

Anyway, I really liked the episode, for the same reasons people have already stated: I'm finally getting to see why I should root for this couple. They both ran away from pain, but they both came back. Aldie was finally the one to say they need to talk. Cris freaked out, but then he got himself together and acted like the galan he's supposed to be. All in all, I think they can finally take home prizes for last night. I thought that last scene with them was so sweet and showed them finally acting like adults. Aldie, possibly finally realizing that just because Cris is the love of her life, he can't magically fix her fears, was thinking through the implications of having to deal with her rape. She was really considering them as a couple, their future, rather than just barreling into it. And Cris was so reassuring. Sigh. Adorable.

Pato might be the only one to look at his relationship with some objectivity. Which makes me think it might be Lola and E, Silvia and Pato and Ren and ...Bernardita? Ren and Silvia and Pato and Bernardita? Ok, I don't know.

Pru's going to eat her words with a side of crow and Val's gonna be tripping all over herself to get to E-man! Ooh I can't wait! PRu made me so mad last night!

I can now see Sim getting redeemed and being a big help to proving Donnie's rape.

Ren has just lost his mother and now Aldonza. I can understanding him having a hard time with losing those he really cares about. His dad was great and understood his loss.

Hellashelle: "I thought that last scene with them was so sweet and showed them finally acting like adults. Aldie, possibly finally realizing that just because Cris is the love of her life, he can't magically fix her fears, was thinking through the implications of having to deal with her rape. She was really considering them as a couple, their future, rather than just barreling into it. And Cris was so reassuring. Sigh. Adorable."

Exactly why I liked this episode so much. Some real growth for our couple as a couple. Of course, we know they have a sh!t storm about to come at them (and separations are bound to happen), but nice to see them growing and evolving.

Vivi - yes, I was SO happy to see that. I feel ike I can finally cheer them on with some motivation! I'm also happy to see their growth because most of the other characters seem stuck in neutral.

Well, Eman has had some development in recent days. He needs to start asking around. I know he'll ask Mel and Dom, and prob PJ, which is where the truth might start falling into place. But I'm surprised he hasn't asked to see his birth certificate or asked other people in the town, like the candy house lady for example.

Mari seemed to really be taking her brother's problems seriously now. I wonder if this will have any lasting effect on her being a more productive member of soceity, or if it'll wear off and she'll go back to whining about him being the center of attention.

I could sort of see Mari's point this episode, because as soon as they stepped through the door, all Uriel and Irma were talking about was Lardo. Although, it's not like Mari has much going on that they could ask about. No, how was work or school, since she does neither.

Just reading comments, this made me about bust a gasket, Doris!

Still . . . come here young'un and I'll comfort you. (....cougar roar....)

HA! You go, girl!

:D

Yeah, Doris, he so has eyeliner and fake bottom lashes! I thought his eyes were darling!

Have you guys ever seen Nestor Carbonell? Lost, Suddenly Susan, a bunch of other stuff. He has eyes like that too, that look like he's wearing eyeliner. I don't this he or the Tomas actor are wearing eyeliner. But it's funny to think they apply it every day.

I may need to watch some 80's hair band videos to truly come to a decision on the eyeliner debate. :p

Nestor Carbonell speaks about the eyeliner rumors:

Diva - roflol! 😃

Vivi! Thanks! That is hilarious! Poor guy! I'm glad his mother caught him trying to cut them when he was a little kid. . .that could've ended badly. Sheesh! So unfair that he gets naturally what a lot of women pay lots of money and risk the health of their eyes for!

Never heard of the guy before but his eyes are dreamy?

;D

his eyes are dreamy!

Wow, Hellashelle, that was one great recap, thanks soooo much!

Just read all the comments, running amok here trying to get organized before the show starts, but...
DORIS yes I think eyeliner. I have been trying to recall who that Tomas reminds me of, the eyeliner reference did it: he looks like "Prince", or as they called him later, "TAFKAP" (the artist formerly known as Prince").
Yes? yes?

So sev is mooching off the wife! typical. He's acting like he owns everything. I would love to see cris stand up to both his parents. But I think thats a long time from happening. A whole bunch of junk gotta happen before that. He's going to have to really see the kind of parents he has. Then he'll really be able to defend his wife. Hopefully he wont kill his father when the truth hits him.

LET THE SLAPPING BEGIN!!!!!!!!

Nina

Yes, J! I can see that.
