New Telenovela: Lo imperdonable starts May 18, 2015

After complaints that some of our plot summaries were full of spoilers, here is a brief one for the upcoming Lo imperdonable. If you want to recap, write me at caray@mappamundi.com - blog mom.

Martín (Iván Sánchez) hurries to Mina Escondida after getting an urgent letter from his brother begging to be rescued from the hell in which he's living. On arrival, Martin despairs upon finding out that Demetrio (Pablo Montero), his brother, has committed suicide. His sorrow is transformed into hatred and a thirst for vengeance against the woman who caused his brother suffering and brought him to death.

Full of resentment, Martín swears before the tomb of his brother that he will get revenge against this ruthless woman, he will cause her to fall in love and he will drag her to the green hell of this jungle in which he will despise her as she despised his brother.

The first clue to the culprit's identity is a medallion his brother always kept with him, engraved with the name "V. Prado Castelo." Martin returns to the capital, knowing that Prado Castelo is the biggest jewelry business in the country. He aims to grow close to the family. He makes the acquaintance of Emiliano (Sergio Sendel), only heir to the fortune, newly arrived in México after years of absence.

Martín meets Verónica (Ana Brenda) and Virginia (Grettell Valdez), Emiliano's cousins who were adopted by the elder Prado Castelo. Martín is struck by Veronica's beauty and her force of character. He is not, however, her only admirer: Emiliano has returned with the intention of marrying her, having loved her since childhood - not realizing the one who is obsessed with him is Virginia.

Little by little Martin falls in love with Verónica but believes the lies Virginia tells about her, including that she had caused Demetrio to fall in love and had then abandoned him….

Thank you, Jane!

I plan to watch at least the first week. I've never seen Ivan Sanchez. Don't know anything about him!

Oh Boy! Can't wait!

Thanks, Jane. As always, Mejia manages to get an amazing cast. Let's hope he can keep the story tight and on track, because it has the potential to be good.

Never saw La Mentira, but know it is much beloved. The most recent version of this story was Cuando Me Enamoro, which I loved. Seems a bit too soon to for another version, but I will give this one a shot to see all the pretty people in the pretty locations.

Yes, Vivi! Great cast, gorgeous locations... but MEJIA.

Thanks so much, Jane. This one looks promising. (Fingers crossed.)

but MEJIA

oh god and he will consult his wifey I'm sure, at least Daniel Arenas ain't in it.

Sebastián Zurita is in it and saw him in La Impostora with his mama. He's cute but I wasn't impressed.

Sounds great. I DON"T CARE---I DON"T CARE, Mejia or not. I'm not a one week kind of guy or a stick your toe in to test the water kind of person. Ana Brenda and Grettell Valdez---Like Steve, I Can't Wait.

Now if Blogger will let me comment?

Sara- Ivan Sanchez is just gorgeous!

Thanks Jane for this information. Since I never saw the previous remakes, I think I will enjoy it not having anything to compare it to. I also don't know much about producers/directors to judge Mejia's work. The only thing that I dont know about is the male lead, I am not sure if I will like watching him. He looks like the same actor that came out with Wm Levy in the Sortillegio. I did not like watching him and stopped watching. I will google Ivan Sanchez to check him out, Eli says he horgeous, I need to take second look and get acquainted with his work.

Novella lover - I haven't seen the other two versions either. The story sounds interesting and I won't have to worry about comparisons. I'm am NOT a fan of Mejia, but he can bring out the best in recappers.

thanks,Jane. I will give this a try . Is Ivan the villain from LM..Mr. Red Pants? Is Gretel the actress who played nasty Maria from Robo ?

Ivan Sanchez was the BSC villain in La Tempestad and it was hard NOT to hate him. It will take some doing to root for him in this new show.

Thanks Sara, Getting intrigued about Mejia bringing the best in recappers
Susanlynn, dont remember Mr Red Pants in LM, can you pls help me refresh my memory? Thx

Gobluefan, thanks for correcting me
It was La Tempestad!!! Not Sortillegio.
Well, I stopped watching for him and because, although I love long hair on a man. I didnt like Wm Levy with strringy long hair. I wish It was Rulli in this new novella. But I am prejudiced, I want him in all the novelas I watch, if I can help it.

Thanks Jane. I am interested in recapping this one. I can take Fridays.

I haven't watched the other two versions either. I like Ivan Sanchez and am looking forward to seeing him as the lead. He did a great job as the villain on La Tempestad which I really enjoyed and loved.

Mauricio, that's great news! I already emailed Jane and told her I was interested in recapping this one. I love the idea of being on a team with you again.

Ivan Sanchez was incredible in La Reina del Sur, in case anyone doubts what he is capable of (or how hot he can be!)

Hi all, before I say anything else, please note that I want to be part of the recapping team for Lo Imperdonable. So, I ask that the team leader message me about it to discuss which day will be assigned to me.

Second, without spoilers, I want to bet those of you saying you will only watch one week, that you will watch the whole thing. I have watched the first two weeks of the Mexico broadcast and you will not believe the sick chemistry between Ana Brenda and Ivan Sanchez, who is looking quite sexy and nothing like his gaunt look on La Tempestad. (A friend of mine who hesitated to watch it the first week started it last weekend and proceeded to catch up on all first ten episodes in three days. It's that good!!!!)

Third, yes it is a Mejia production, but it has a great writer adapting it (Ximena Suarez) and also a great director (Monica Miguel) and it shows.

NovelaMaven - It will be great to be on a recapping team with you. I can't wait until this one starts. I have also already emailed Jane about my interest in recapping this one.

LatinaInMD - You can email Jane (her email is in the post) about recapping this one. Thanks for the info about this novela. This one does look really good.

Looks like this will be a great recapping team!

It would be easier on Jane if one of you decides to be team captain and gets the email address for everyone else on the team- then sort out the schedule amongst yourselves. Anyone else who wants to join the recapping team can email the captain.

La Impostra was OK! Sebastian's co-anchor, Lisette Morelos had big boobs, nothing else!

Great suggestion, Vivi. I already emailed Jane about joining the team. Unfortunately, I can't volunteer to be team captain b/c I assume that comes with more responsibility, which I can't take on because I'm planning to move back to California in July, so the next 3 or 4 months will be quite hectic for me.

Hello, everybody

I watched the first few episodes and they are OK, aside from some very silly things that I'm sure will come up in recaps.
La Mentira is in my top 3 telenovelas of all time and I have plenty to compare the new one with, but I am so envious of those of you who don't know the '98 version because you get to enjoy this with fresh eyes.
I am torn between recapping and just commenting every now and then because this is really not a great time for me to commit to a tn. Then again....Ivan Sanchez!!!
Oh, why not?? I can recap every other week if someone else wants to share.
I'll e-mail our blog mom ASAP.

Monica Miguel was great teamed with Carla Estrada in Alborada and Amoe Real. She is creative and dedicated and gets terrific performances from her actors. It will be interesting to see what she does with this producer.

Mejia is very smart to get a great writer and a great director for this. Let's hope he leaves them alone and lets them do their work. I'm more hopeful now.

Im sort of looking forward to this but i hoped it would be under some other director. Well the writers are the same as in La Malquerida and Mejia did some great works ( La Madrastra, La Intrusa).

I pray that the script is worth the cast because it's quite an amazing one, wouldn't want them to waste their time otherwise Mejia's robbing their right of nightmare -free vacations!

Good afternoon everyone.

This is the recapping schedule:

Mondays: NovelaMaven
Tuesdays: ????
Wednesdays: LatinaInMD
Thursdays (every other): Adriana Noel
Fridays: Mauricio (Myself)

We still need a recapper for Tuesday and to share Thursdays with Adriana Noel.

Just being nosey looking in on who's stepping up to the plate.

Just a reminder--Monica Miguel directed La Tempestad--and don't forget what happened to her (I mean her character) halfway through.

La Temp did bring out the best in recapping snark and snarl. It was also a great place to sharpen claws and wit.

I just don't think I can watch a remake of either La Mentira or Cuando Me Enamoro (near the top of my top 10 list of novelas) so soon, but, I'll be stopping in to watch the fun you folks are having.

I love ABC, she was great in LQNPA but I don't even bother with Mejia productions. That man takes gold and turns it into scum. The only decent novela he's ever produced was 'La Madrasta'. I'll pass.

Novella lover

I'm re-watching Teresa just to look at Sebastián Rulli #####!!!

There is no way that Fernando Colunga should have won Los Premios in STD over SR in Teresa. SR really brings it to the screen. not just in looks but in acting as well///!!!

I just read on Mas que Novelas that this novela is not doing well in Mexico and the comments are very negative. Evidently the ratings are much lower than expected . Did I hear anyone say Mejía? ?

What's unbelievable is that there is talk of a redo of Las Vías del Amor with Angelique Boyer in the starring role. But the producer has yet to be determined and the war is between Angelli and Mejía.

I really wish someone would explain to me why Televisa continues to give projects to Mejía when he has yet to produce anything worth watching ???

Whatever happened to José Alberto Castro?

Is this tn on at 9:00 est?

Nina

@victoria - don't let the bad ratings in Mexico fool you. They are mostly Televisa's fault for moving up the premiere by one week, putting the first week of Lo Imperdonable up against the Mecican soccer championships. Also, the ratings if all Televisa novelas in Mexico are in the dumps, not just this one. But people are picking on it b/c it is at 9pm, THE prime time hour, it is a remake, and it is a Mejia production.

That said, the first 15 episodes have been fabulous. Yes, as Adriana mentioned, there are some details that are ripe for snarking, but overall it is well written, directed, acted, edited, etc. And the chemistry between Ana Brenda and Ivan Sanchez is spectacular, so much so that in my view Ivan has already - in just three weeks - surpassed Jorge Salinas as Ana Brenda's best co-star.

Hi Nina - Yes this novela will air at 9pm EST starting May 18th replacing Hasta El Fin Del Mundo.

@Victoria Gomez and everyone else - yes, Lo Imperdonable has low ratings in Mexico, but so do all the other Televisa telenovelas. The low ratings do not mean low quality. Yes, as Adriana pointed out, there are certain minor details that will be ripe for snarking here (esp. Sergio Sendel's miscasting), but in general Lo Imperdonable is a pretty good novela, with solid writing, direction, editing and acting, especially from the two leads. In fact, after seeing just the first 15 episodes, I have to say that in my opinion Ivan Sanchez has already surpassed Jorge Salinas as Ana Brenda's best co-star. These two have incredible chemistry in this novela. (I think the reason the online comments about this novela have been particularly brutal is not because of its quality, but rather because it is a Mejia production, it is yet another remake, and it is the first time Ana Brenda stars in the 9pm slot in Mexico. Some brutal "fans" are even sending her sarcastic tweets telling her she must be so "proud" of her 9pm ratings.)

Are some comments getting blocked? I have "posted" three here, all basically saying the same thing. I thought it was a technical glitch, but now not so sure.

Victoria Gomez
Because Mejia is a head of novelas department at Televisa. He has all the power to produce everything he wants whenever he wants.
What a shame.

I watched first 15 episodes. It's not bad, but I want to rewind almost everything except leads. It will be much better if they put 15 episodes in 5.
But still it's watchable.

After 7 days comments are moderated. They go to the blogmom and she approves them.

Yes, and since I can't sit next to my computer 24 hours a day, sometimes you'll have to wait, sorry. I had to do this because we were getting spam onslaughts.

This novela looks promising. I love anything (well almost anything) that Ana Brenda is in and can't wait to see this. I also am excited to see Ivan Sanchez playing a good guy. Just seen him play a baddie in LT. My plate is overflowing with kids softball games, church activites, etc. But...if I can do every other Thursday, I might be able to swing it. I have missed this blog and am wanting to blog again. So if you haven't found anyone, I'm in.
