Thanks, Jarifa. I'm looking forward to it. Relax, enjoy and have fun!

My emotions were all over the place tonight. As usual, I'm just as excited to hear the opinions of the patio as I am to watch the episodes.

Capítulo #68 7/1/15 "No Way Back or When Apologies are not Enough"

Part 1

We are starting tonight with a comtinuation of a and not biting her nails.very happy scene and a very excited Carmen at the Carmona family dinner table. She is going to Diego's house for dimmer to meet his mother. Granny Perpétua gives her tips on how to sit up straight use the silverware. Conchita reminds her about no elbows on the table nor biting her mails at the table. Carmen hapoily takes in all the advice and Facundo smiles.

Back at the psychiatrist office, Isabel is demanding to know who the other woman is. Santiago insists there is nobody else. Estefany was his lover . . . He makes it sound like it was a long long time ago. He insists that the only important thing for him is that his wife, his "Puchecita" is well. Santiago and Isabel then start in with their baby talk to each other and rubbing noses, etc. Isabel makes him choose between her and Estefany. He chooses his Puchecita. They are leaving Estefany behind for being ugly. Estefany can't believe what she is seeing hearing. She closes her eyes and covers her ears at various points of thiis affectionate display. Santiago thinks all is well because there are no secrets and everything has been clarified. Dr. Mireya the psychiatrist just smiles. Suddenly Isabel does not agree that everything has been clarified about "Estafany" and starts to beat on Santiago again. He brings up her having fallen in love with Facundo. Isabel insists that is different.

Santiago has left Isabel with Dr. Mireya and goes to visit Rocío at the boutique which happens to be in the neighborhood. He just wants to know how things are going. He tells her about his renewed hopes for Isabel to get better and hopes she won't hold anything against her. María walks in and Santiago greets her. He says he has never seen the boutique looking that pretty. María tells him that Rocío helped a lot to make it look that good. He thanks her for giving Rocío a job there after everything that had happened. He says he came to take Rocío out to lunch and would like María to come with them.

Back at Dr. Mireya's office, Isabel is talking about how she has always felt alone; how her mother abandoned her and how when she is near Facundo she is another person. As for Santiago, look what he did buying her (Estefany) that apartment. He is cold.He is so material. He cannot put himself in her place. She wonders what she would be like if she had married a more successful, protective man that she admired. Dr. Mireya says everything she tells her is confidential. Isabel also realizes she was not cut out to be a mother. Dr. Mireya supports her and tells her she should not feel guilty for everything. She tells Isabel to think about herself.

Part 2

Back at the boutique, María is looking very uncomfortable and turns down Santiago's invitation. Santiago then tells her how much he admires her for the excellent wife and great mother she is. She also has time to take care of the animals, her house, this boutique. She is such a hard worker and very very pretty. María smiles. Rocío grabs Santiago and pulls him away to end his talking and to go out to lunch. He tells María will be back to order some shawls. After they go, María looks perplexed.

Back with Isabel, Dr. Mireya is telling her there is a way to fix her life: she needs tranquility by giving in on some things, too. Like cooperating around the house, comtrolling her aggressiveness, being more empathetic with those around her. She is changing her meds and the dosage. No, there is no problem with her taking pills with alcohol as long as there is no dependency. Isabel should feel the effects of the new meds today. If she feels bad, just call her. She is availanle 24/7. Isabel could use more time to talk but the apppointment is over. What should she do about Facundo? Tell him what is going on, stay away from him a while to center herself. Dr. Mireya cannot get her out of the office fast enough even helping her up and leading her to the door. See her next week. Dr. Mireya looks pleased with herself.

Rocío and Santiago are having lunch. Rocío doesn't want to be a downer but she thinks that Santiago went overboard with his complimenting María. It would be better not to give her so many compliments because she might take it the wrong way.. Especially now, Rocío wants to avoid any problems between the families necause she and Beto are getting married. Santiago wants to talk to her about that. That conversation is not happening.

Isabel has decided to go visit Facundo at work. She is making her way to his office down the hallways singing and greeting everyone. She stops to take some her "salvation" pills and some of her "helping" pills. She knocks on Facundo's door and surprises him. He is not happy to see her. He tells her to keep her distance. She starts singing "Cielito lindo". She comes in peace to tell him about her therapy, trying to find herself, cure herself. He doesn't get her "inner child" bit.She is there to apologize. She looks spacey the whole time.

Rocío asks Santiago what the story is with Isabel's psychiatrist. She has had her for years and Isabel just seems to keep getting worse. Santiago says the real problem is that Isabel refuses to go to another psychiatrist so they have to do the best they can with Dr. Mireya. Rocío,is all for doing something more radical if this therapy does not work. Santiago doesn't know what. Rocío laughs and says Isabel could get a lobotomy. Laughingly, Santiago tells her not to be like that: she is sounding like her mother (Isabel).

At the office, Isabel is telling Facundo that she will not be following or bothering him. She will respect his space. He doesn't knowwhat to think she is acting so strangely and singing. He passes a chain of garlic all over her to keep the evil spirits away, He is visibly disturbed. She tells him he is a beautiful person. She wants him to be happy. she leaves simging all the way. Facundo passes the garlic over himself, prays and says Isabel is lost.

At Diego's house, Carmen quickly finds out that despite there being a nice spread of appetizers and champagne, Diego's parents are not there. Nobody is there but them.

Isabel has returned home and is wandering around singing in her own bedroom. Santiago does not know what to make of her. She then says she is going to be a better person and starts collecting items of clothing to bring to the priest for the poor. She talks about cleaning the wimdows. Santiago asks if she does not feel well. She sings. He cries and tells her he is afriad of her.

UPatt 3

Isabel is still acting spacey talking about her next psych appointment. She thinks she is sitting on the grass. She rambles on and sings. Santiago is at a loss for what to say or do. He hopes Dr. Mireya can nelp her. He sits close to her and she jumps up accusing him of touching her.

Carmen is still at Diego's. (Looks like she has been set up) He asks if she is afraid. She says no. She just wants to go home. She is trying to be pleasant. He argues that it is still early. He has a surprise for her. He was her first novio. He wants to be with her. He wants to be her first lover. Carmen is not happy.

Isabel is letting Santiago have it for "putting the horns on her" (cheated) with Estefany. Because he was with that "cantoya balloon" (lit sky balloon) Estefany, he will not ever touch even one hair on her (Isabel) again. Beyond that she has Santiago's gun hidden and if he is with Estefany again, she will shoot him with his own gun. Santiago just cries and she defiantly sings about it all as she exits their room.
She ends up in the washroom still singing and looking at herself in the mirror and taking another pill.

Facundo and María are in their room. He wants to know how the first day went at the business HE BOUGHT FOR HER. She needs more workers and plans to get them from San Bartolomel Chico. He doesn't want her dealing with El Panzón because he told Florencio they had an argument at the anniversary party. Florencio? She gets up shocked. Facundo flies off the handle saying that she turned white when he mentioned that scarecrow's name. He interrogates her: does she still like him? Is she still interested in him? Because she was going to marry him. María says nothing but thinks in scrap book form how she met Facundo when she and Florencio were out strolling on the plaza. Florencio and Facundo were boyhood friends. She saw Facundo's face caressed by the sun and knew he had more meaning (value) than his friend. The wedding date was set for her and Florencio but she never imagined what Facundo was going to dare to do. There were long smoldering looks on the plaza. María has a smile on her fave as she thinks about the past and that just infuriates Facundo more because she had the same smile the day he met her in the plaza (too bad Facundo is too angry to realize that the smile was because of him IMO)

Back at Diego's, Carmen is finally getting up to leave saying that Diego was supposed to respect her. Diego thinks that is what he was doing with the candles, delicious food and champagne. They argue. Carmen realizes he lied to get her there. She calls him an ignorant jerk and leaves. Diego is left alone on his couch.

María is smiling saying that for a moment it felt like no time had passed. They were so happy back then but didn't know it. That enrages Facundo even more. Was she happy with Florencio back then? What about her years with him, were they just nothing? That is not what she meant. He accuses her of being interested in Florencio again. She says she isn't. She has not seen Florencio since his wife's funeral. She tells him to stop being jealous. He rages on. It is real convenient he is a widower now. He's resentful that Facundo stole María from him when they were supposed to marry. María reminds him that she married him and not Florencio. He finally seems convinced. María tells him that now the only thing that is important to her is ner business. He thinks this is a fine time for a reconciliation.she disagrees reminding him about the crappola he pulled at the anniversary party. Facundo wants them to just be okay again. She tells him that if things are not okay between them it is because of what HE did. She didn't do anything wrong. María leaves and smiles to herself.

Part 4

Facundo runs into Granny and wants to know if Florencio has been calling. He told María that he had been calling and she looked happy. Granny says that it is just his jealousy talking. Facundo thinks not when María won't even talk to him and doesn't care to know anythiing about him. Carmen comes in with a tear stained face.

Diego is sitting at home upset about Carmen. She is different from all of the other girls he has dated. He is in love with her.

Carmen ends up barricaded in the girls room with all of the females. Margarito is allowed to stay eventhough he is a male. Facundo and Beto are just annoying pounding on the door. Carmen tells them what happened. His parents weren't there. He wanted to. She didn't. María tells her not to feel bad because she did the right thing. Finally they open the door and Facundo and Beto fall on their faces and then flee

The next day at the university and under the watchful eyes of Francis and her posse, Beto punches Diego in the face for disrespecting Carmen. If he catches him around her in the future, he tells Diego he will break his face.

An upbeat Santiago shows up impromptu at Dr. Mireya's office to ask if she thinks she can help Isabel. Dr. Mireya says Isabel is very ill but has hope for her with therapy and the new meds. She asks Santiago of he ever thought about leaving Isabel dueing all these hears. He says that he has thought anout it countless times but he would exhaust all of his resources trying to help her before he would leave her. Let ner know of there are any problems. He owes her a café.

Granny and María have a conversation at the boutique. Granny asks if it is true that she is going to get people from San Bartolo to help with the knitting at the shop. María says hes. Granny asks if she is sure that is a good idea. María gets annoyed because it is the Florencio thing again, Isn't it? Granny says she doesn't know her anymore. What is going on with her? She has changed a lot. María says she has made a decision that Granny cannot tell anyone: she wants her store to do well so she never has to depend on Facundo again. Of course Granny pipes up with "but he is your husband . . ." As soon as she can get some money together she is going to abandon the store and take the kids and Granny back to the country. Granny is shocked.

Jarifa

Thank you, Jarifa! So much detail and I needed it! I never understand Isa when she's in crazy mood.

I loved the way you used all caps when Fac said "the store I bought for you." That infuriated me, as did his not realizing that it was the same smile because she was thinking of HIM! Dunderhead to the extreme.

The scene with all the girls in the bedroom was sweet but I felt so bad for Carmen. Margarito cheered me up, though.

*sigh* Diego. Tonight he was a dunderhead in training. Not a smooth move. But I was glad that he felt so awful afterwards. He didn't even fight back when Beto punched him. Please writers, let Diego turn out ok and happy.

Oops. (Surely we all knew there would be a few comment bombs?)

I loved Maria's new "luke" at the end. I love the idea of hiring residents of SBeC. I love a Maria that doesn't want to be dependent on her husband. I don't love the idea of her just walking away from Fac.

Sweet Baby Chihuahuas!!?? I love it! You are so creative!

Isabel gets tiring after a while when there is too much of her.

Funny how Santiago and Facundo are in the same situation with their wives no matter how much they apologize.

Diego and Carmen: culture shock for each of them with the other.

Little brown Margarito looked so cute on the pink bedspread.

Facundo just cannot let María have a sense of accomplishment on her own without insinuating himself into it somehow.

Cannot wait for Florencio.

Jarifa

Jarifa,
Thanks for writing this recap. What I read so far was great. I will finish tomorrow. I need to go to bed right now.

Isa is irritating me.

I loved Maria's new luk at the end of the capitulo. Her hair is beautiful. And love that she does not want to be dependent on Facundo. ShutUpPerpetua!

Hated Diego being a dunderhead, but glad he felt bad later.

Santiago makes me laugh!

Hasta pronto...

Jarifa- the pink definitely brings out the cute in Margarito. It's a perfect contrast.

There was also a pink crocheted blanket at the end of Carmen's bed that was drop-dead gorgeous.

Howdy AuntyAnn!

Jarifa- Terrific recap! ITA that Maria was smiling remembering first meeting Facundo. He's a dope.

I also bristled when he said the store I bought for you. I've been thinking about this money thing. Facundo and Maria have been married for 20 years. Even if the land was his family's land originally, by that point the land belongs to both Facundo and Maria (and probably by law Porfirio, really). The money they now have didn't come from Facundo going out and earning it somewhere. It came from the government buying from them. That means to me that the money at the very least is Maria's AND Facundo's. The family is just allowing Fac to manage the money because he's the man. But that money is also Maria's. The store he bought was with HER/THEIR money.

I loved Maria's new luke at the end, and her plan to become independent. But once again I was thinking, the money is YOUR money too! You have a right, right now, to take control of some of it if you want to.

Diego really stepped into it. But I believe that he is falling in love with Carmen and this was a simple cultural clash. In his world, this is the logical next step to take as a couple, and if he was with a girl who felt the same way, she would have found the food, candles, champagne, etc., to be sweet and thoughtful. However, he has known Carmen long enough now to know she's VERY traditional and likely won't be making love to anyone until marriage. If he can't accept that, then they aren't right for each other. I do hope he gets a chance to apologize and that she accepts it, even if they don't get back together. I hate her thinking he's a bad guy, because I don't think he is. He's just a guy, who wanted to be with the girl he loves.

Great recap!

I hated it when Fac was yelling and accusing Maria and she had no idea what he was talking about. He really is acting like an overgrown child.

Diego just made huge mistake and I don't see him getting Carmen back, primarily bec she is not that interested in him and she'll use what happened as an excuse not to go back to him, instead of telling him the real truth.

Maria never should have told her mother her plan. Won't take her long to run to Fac. I like Maria seeing the value in being independent. I think it will make it harder for Florencio to win her back. Not that I think that would happen anyway.

Feel bad for Santi, which I think I say everyday so the broken record continues.

I wasn't angry with Diego, nor did I think less of him. I was on my couch screaming "No! Bad move! Bad move!" Ugh. It was like watching a slow motion train wreck. I felt bad for the guy.

EL is doing a great job with the role. That's my broken record.

I laughed out loud when Isa started singing her variation on the "Quinceañera" theme song.

Sara I was thinking the same thing while watching Diego..."Stop, stop!"

Exactly! Duuuuude, just stop! What are you doing? NO!

I guess Maria will end up in SBeC and that's how the Florencio reunion will go down. I'm glad she has the attitude change before she goes. She's focused in her business so she (hopefully) won't have time for being wooed.

I'm still wondering why she's telling Perpetua anything a out her marriage. Didn't she tell her mother to butt out?

Well mom is mom but history tells us she does not have her daughter's back but clings to her husband and wife traditions.

Oops.

Forgot to add- Maria won't have time for being wooed... but Fac doesn't need to know that ;-)

Although his outburst last night is a little disconcerting. He didn't seem to be thinking "Oh I better up my game and do what I can so Maria is happy." He needs to adjust his attitude. Pronto.

Well said, Carvivlie. It really bothers me that Perpetua doesn't seem to have Maria's back.

He's coming off as a verbally abusive brute. I mean he just started yelling at her for no reason. Fac lost me awhile ago and his inconsistent behavior isn't winning me back.

Agreed. Fac scared me last night.

Muchas gracias Jarifa !!!

What bothered me most about Diego was the way he got her to his apartment? (house?) .. meeting his mother. That lie was the worst part of the whole thing. And yes, getting really tired of la-la Isa .. we get it; she's goofy on the pills and booz and getting worse.

Carvivlie ... agree, verbally abusive brute says it all about Facundo.

Lola

Aw! I hadn't even thought of that, Lola. Poor Carmen. She was pretty excited to meet Diego's mom. Sad face.

You better make this up to me, Diego.

AuntyAnn, sure agree with your "ShutUpPerpetua". She just has to put in her own two cents. The real problem is that María has no friends outside her immediate family.

Vivi, very good point about the money. María should know that she has enough money to leave right now and that she does not have to earn it and save it from the shop earnings.

Carvivlie, "overgrown child" sure describes Facundo. Looks like he was pleasant only when everything was going his way. Does he not realize that a toddler tantrum does not make him more attractive in María's eyes?

Lola, Diego lying to Carmen was also the real problem for me because she would end up feeling like she had been set up.

Sweet Baby Chihuahuas!, I will have to go back and look for that crocheted blanket. It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion with Diego trying to be the total gentleman in his own way. I felt sorry for him and for Carmen. Of course maybe this happened for the best (esp. For Diego) because we all know she still is hung up on "Feli" .

Jarifa

I'm feeling pouty though because I'm still hung up on Carmen and Diego being together.

We hardly ever see Feli so I keep holding out hope for Diego.

Jarifa, I loved your recap.

"She stops to take some her "salvation" pills and some of her "helping" pills" and "Margarito is allowed to stay event hough he is a male" were wonderful.

"She saw Facundo's face caressed by the sun and knew he had more meaning (value) than his friend". Exactly Jarifa! I loved this little montage and I wish the chemistry and sizzle would ignite between Facundo and Maria again. The attraction when they first laid eyes on each other was instantaneous and the spark – combustible. Maria’s reminiscing and her lovely smile left no doubt of her feelings for Facundo. What a shame that “(too bad Facundo is too angry to realize that the smile was because of him IMO)”. He is too high strung, emotional and immature and on the verge of abusive. Sara, your “dunderhead” was perfect (love SBC :).

Vivi, I agree that Diego was doing what he thought was the right thing in the right way. Still, he knows Carmen well enough by now to realize that he was really pushing things beyond an acceptable limit. He acted like a petulant child so hope he snaps out of it and grows up. Sara, I also like Diego with Carmen but I fear the attraction is mostly one sided. Carmen likes him but doesn’t seem particularly enamored. I’m a bit surprised she hasn’t gone after Feli full steam. Jarifa, yes, Feli is still first in her heart.

Carvivlie, I also wish Maria hadn’t shared her plans with her mother. I thought she had cut her out of the loop, now she’s got her back in the thick of things.

So many delightful scenes inn this. Loved Fac and Beto ready to break down the door and Susana with her clenched fists ready and waiting to defend her sister. Love little Margarito hanging with the girls.

Jarifa, thank you for this marvelous summary,

Diana

AuntyAnn, how is your nephew doing?

Diana

"Carmen likes him but doesn’t seem particularly enamored." So very true, Diana.

I like how Maria handled Carmen when she came home in tears. Locking Facundo and Beto out was a very good move, because all it would have led to was macho posturing and hysterics. But Maria was calm and kind, and helped calm Carmen down, while getting to the heart of what had and hadn't happened.

Yes, Diana! I loved how Susana held her own with Beto!

Diana, my favorite part of the episode was María's reminiscence. It was a clever way to fill us in on the backstory.

As for María telling her mother her plans, I hope María is able to hold her own no matter how "unpopular" her plan might be with her mother, Facundo or the kids. If it were Facundo's plan, none of them would blink an eye. They all have to realize that maybe any real intimacy is over between Facundo and María and exactly what that means short of a divorce. Granny's "but he is your husband" sure didn't do it for me. I liked that María reminded Facundo that the mess they are in was due to his actions. She did nothing. I would add, so why does she have to pay?

Cannot wait for tonight!

Jarifa

I also enjoyed the way they did the backstory. I don't have a long list of TNs that I've seen, but that was the most clever flashback/backstory sequence I've seen.

Susana with her fists clenched will probably the image I will always remember from this novela as well as Margarito.

Jarifa

Haha! Same here!

Yes. I loved that way of doing a flashback too. Very clever and cute.

Almost show time,!!! recap will be up as usual.

Jarifa

Capítulo #69 7/2/15 "The Place to Be: The Carmona's"

Part 1

Estefany is calling Esteban at work. He has no interest in hearing from her. She is going to show him she is a winner, a warrior; her horoscope says she will triumph in any undertaking. He says not to waste his time. She informs him that she has Santiago eating out of her hand. She has to go because someone is knocking at ner door. She will call him back. Esteban tells her to take all the time she wants 100 years or never.

María tells her that everything is decided that the city is not for them. Granny Perpétua wants to know when she is planning on telling Facundo like maybe in 2025? María says she is not going to until she has everything ready and that Facundo can come with her or he can stay. Granny puts the guilt trip on her asking how will she separate the kids from their father if he decides not to go. She needs to think of the kids (here I will use the legendary "blech" in reaction to that remark-jarifa) María says that is who she is thinking of: the kids by breaking her back working there. María does not want to ever be dependent on Facundo again. Granny says it is the anger anout the party still speaking. She did not raise her that way. María asks : does she want her to sit there quietly with her arms crossed and just take everything he has done to her. She is sorry but she is not planning on being like Granny Perpétua was with her father.

Estefany answers the door and who is it?: just Sebastián and another gentleman Archie (Estefany calls him Santiago's brother) who happen to be dressed like twins in black suits with matching striped ties. Estefany lets them in with a big smile. The smile does not last long because Santiago has the eviction order for Estefany. Archie is there to read it to her but cannot because he lost his glasses so Santiago does the honors. The eviction is effective immediately. She cannot talk Santiago out of it. Santiago says needs to go in this instant, this minute, this second because if she doesn't Archie, who is really not such a good guy but is a wrestler who wrestles on Saturdays in a "dental floss thong" will grab her by her hair extensions and throw her out. Santiago, just giggles. Estefany cannot believe it.

María apologizes to her mom and goes onto say that It is Facundo's fault for getting into questionable situations with that witch from across the way and that he has changed so much since they have moved to the city. Granny tells her she can support her on most things but not this with her plotting behind her husband's back. She is on her own.She won't be going with her. She will be staying in the family home where María should be staying, too.

Estefany is at an outdoor café with all of her belongings in black grabage bags talking over her situation with a friend and deciding what her next move is going to be. She is not going to go back to being a waitress in Monterrey. She has an idea of someone who will have pity upon her and give her a place to stay.

At the university, Carmen sees Diego sitting at a table and goes to talk to him. She sees his bruised face and asks what's wrong with it. Diego tells her to ask her savage little brother. She didn't tell him or her father. He just wants her to leave him alone. He just was doing what guys do. She exagerated it all. She says that he should have known she had never been with a guy. ( Carmen is obnoxiously whiney and loud) Everyone including Francis and her posse can hear her.

Part 2

Estefany is at María's shop with her garbage bags recounting the tale of her eviction. María said it was bad that she was with a married man. Estefany says that his marriage was always a joke, a drama, a circus; very different than María's with Facundo. Santiago threw her out so he can mess around with someone else.So now Estefany is just a defenseless homeless woman all alone in the world . She breaks down. María has the solution. Estefany can come and live at the Carmona's and have a home and family, too. As she is expressing her gratitude, Estefanh is thinking how she gets to live with that big hunk Facundo. Estefany is worried about what Facundo could say. María says he can say nothing especially after what he did to her.

Back at the iniversity, Carmen is defending her actions of the other night asking what had Diego expected her to do: just hand herself over to him like all of those other "ligeras de casco" (slutty girls)? Diego says that if she didn't want to be with him that was okay but she could have said something to him. She admits she did overreact a bit. He has to go. He has a test. She whines that he should not leave her alone talking. Francis is right there to ask if she is having problems with her "galán".

At the Velasco house, Alejandra is having a semi pleasant time with Isabel. It turns out that Isabel helped her study for an English test and she got a perfect 10. Of course, Isabel is still feeding herself pills amd washing them down with wine. Alejandra notices and gets assured that there is no problem. Isabel explains all of her pills to Alejandra and how when she noticed that some of her old customers had bought something from María's boutique she just took her SOS pill and did not say anything nasty. . She wants to help Alejandra with her homework again.

Facundo is in the middle of a business meeting about the housing and solar panels at the company with Beto, Felipe and others being bored to death by his presentation. The meeting is disturbed when Carmen comes in unannounced to confront Beto about what he did to Diego. She calls him a savage and starts to beat up on him. Facundo asks if this would not be better dealt with at home. Carmen does not miss an opportunity to excuse herself to "Feli" with a smile of course! She tells Beto he is the worst brother she could ever have, the worst! Her cell phone rings amd she leaves. Felipe runs out to see how she is. She doesn't really want to talk to anyone but talks to him.
She knows by now everyone at the university is laughing at her. He wants to know what Diego did. She explains that he was trying to push the limits with her, go beyond what is permitted. Felipe is incensed amd ready to give Diego another beating. She said it was really no big deal because nothing happened. Felipe tells her she has to know who she is dealimg with. Diego is like that. Women are objects for him. He will never love or respect her like Felipe would. Carmen has had enough and says she doesn't want to be more confused.

Part 3

María is having great success at her boutique. She invites Rocío to go to the country with her to find new knitters. Rocío is ready to go. Rocío also wants to discuss with her about María's opinion that her marriage with Beto would ne not a good idea because of their families. She wanted her to know that her decision to go ahead with her engagement didn't mean that she did not take María's opinion into account. Her uncle and cousins are not bad people just her aunt is the problem. So, she is leaving Isabel out of all of this. She will not even be invited to the wedding. If she has to choose between her aunt and them, there is no problem. María is much more calm about the situation after hearing this. Rocío wishes that her real parents were alive because they all would have gotten along. She can hardly remember them anymore.

At the Carmoma house it is supper time where Carmen's bad feelings towards Beto are erupting at the table where she is refusing to,pass him some food he asked for. Beto is reliving punching out Diego for Granpsppy Porfirio. María is going to bed but Facundo tells her he does not want her to travel to the country alone. She asks him if he wants to go with her. Facundo, asks if she is being serious and jumps to Beto is going to be accompanying her. She also has an announcement for everyone. Estefany her friend is homeless so she will be coming to live with them. Facundo is not happy. He does not agree. Porfirio agrees and sees this as another opportunity. Sooner or later a woman will have to pay attention to him. Granny says he would be useless in a marriage. Granpappy wonders if Facundo's mother is still alive. When Facundo starts to complain, María tells him she is not asking for permission and that the house is as much hers as his, Furthermore, when Facundo became business partners with Santiago, he didn't ask anyone's opinion. So she did the same. Susana is reasured she will not be losing her room. Jacinto hope she knows some trigonometry; he could use the help. Estefany will be coming when María returns from her trip. María gets up from the table on the way to her bedroom, pauses, looks at Facundo and says: because this is my house, too! Facundo is shocked, angered but gives a false little laugh to cover his true feelings.

At the Velasco's,, Santiago is with Alejandra, Felipe and Rocío in the living room. Felipe wants to know where Isabel is. She went to bed because she was very tired. They are all worried about her. Alejandra says she helped her with her homework, organized the pantry, and even mopped the kitchen floor. Santiago agrees this is really very strange. She is functioning! They all want to know about and are worried about the pills she is taking. Rocío does not want to see her become a drug addict. Alejandra is worried she is taking them with liquor.

Back at the Carmona's the meal has ended and Facundo has a message for Beto: make sure that that scarecrow(Florencio) does not get near María when they make the trip to the country..

Santiago tells the kids that Isabel is making a great effort and they have to value that. Felipe says that is not the problem he is wirried something bad could be happening to her. Santiago points out all of the positive things she has been doing around the house-- more than what she has done in years she is in a better mood. She's better. Rocío agrees but the end game is nottom have her drugged out of her mind all day. Santago just wants them to have faith in Isabel and the treatment.

Part 4

Beto and Jacinto have a conversation because Jacinto is worried that he is not normal with him being smarter than so many. Beto reassures him that that he is how he is and that is normal. He is normal because he has a family that loves him. Beto is proud of him not because he is bright but because he is the best brother in the world. Jacinto thinks Beto is the best brother in the world.

Granny comes to have a talk with Facundo. Surpsisingly, she is not selling María out but has some timely advice for Facundo. She tells him María is still real angry with him anout what happened at the anniversary party. She thought it would have passed but it hasn't. Facundo has never seen her like this. What can he do? Granny tells him to not leave her alone. María needs him. The kids need him. Facundo wants to know if Granny knows something he doesn't. She says no. She only wants him to give some thought to what she is telling him. He needs to win María's heart again; make her fall in love with him again. Granny loves him as if he were her own son. Facundo is left with a lot to think about.

There is a cookout at the Carmona house. Beto iman inf the grill. Rocío is happy that she won't be dying of hunger anytime soon when they get married. Neither she nor their seven children will be dying of hunger. Seven? She says and there is a lot of joking about soccer teams, etc. Then the real reason she or the kids won't be dying of hunger is he is going to teach her how to cook. She teases back saying her inner voice is saying "run, Rocío run!" He wants her to run into his arms. They are just about to kiss whe Hilda appears. Somehow there was an announcement at the university that there was a cookout at the Carmona's and everyone was invited. Beto blames Carmen. This was just supposed to be a family cookout. Who invited everyone? Francis appears and said it was she who invited everyone. Was it a secret? Carmen says no, just a get together with her siblings, not a party. Francis tells them many more are coming and that the food needs to be ready. Carmen is planning a special dish for Francis: A grilled nopal with the needles still in it so that they can prick the tip of her snout. Everyone arrives and it is another shindig.

At work, Santiago appears with a 10 million peso certified check for Facundo so he can start repaying his loan. Ne now thinks he just owes him 40 million more. Not so fast . . .he is going to charge Santiago a fee and interest, too. Santiago calls him a usurer. Facundo is not impressed with the payment since it is not in cash as he gave the loan to him. Ne does not trust him.

Part 5

Crazy times at the cookout at the Carmona's continue. Susana grilling meat. Alejandra womdering if Andrés is coming. Way too many people. (Where is Granpappy when you need him?)

Esteban visits. Dr. Mireya because the plan is not working. Isabel is better everyday. She does not agree she is getting to the point where she will just fall apart amd have a real crisis. Esteban sees it as just more of the same old same old. She tells him that he is as bad or worse than Isabel. He is offended. He just wants resilts. Next topic: he wants to know how she is doing with Santiago. He has come to see her but . . . . Esteban says he is counting on her to achieve the goal of Isabel and Santiago getting divorced. He needs to see Santiago "sunk" (destroyed) in that separation. For that reason he needs to get rid of Isabel. Isabel calls in the middle of their conversation. Esteban says to tell her that she will see her even though she does not have an appointment. He asks Dr. Mireya to do her work well. He is losing his patience. He needs Isabel to end up in a mental hospital..

Part 4: Beto is "manning" the grill.

Jarifa

Thank you so much, Jarifa! I don't get to watch on Thursdays and it's nice knowing I'll have a Jarifa-cap to enjoy with my coffee.

"Legendary blech" was too funny. I love your asides.

I think Jacinto is going to be disappointed with Estefy's math skills.

Random thoughts:

Wow! Granny Perpétua actually did not sell María out to Facundo. Could not believe that she lied to him. Yay! About time no matter how she feels about María's plan.

We end up with another party. I know my question is too straightforward: why did Beto just not throw Hilda and everybody else out? If Facundo were not there, Granpappy Porfirio would have helped him. Maybe that will happen tonight. Only a hopeful guess.

Carmen's whining with Diego was so annoying. He should be running away from her just for that alone. I did like her nopal menu item for Francis though.

My favorite part was María taking "ownership"" of the house and her rights to it when announcing that Estefany was coming to live there.

So, Facundo's mother Granpappy's wife still might be alive. Loved his reaction to Estefany coming to live there.

Jarifa

Jarifa-cap ? You have me laughing now, SweetBabyChihuahuas! !!!

Jarifa

I'm bummed I missed the party. I've got to find time to watch it today.

I'm very proud of Maria for getting a spine. I do want it to be possible for Fac and Maria to solve their differences, but some time apart might be good.

Add me to the list of people happy that Perpetua did not sell Maria out.

Thanks Jarifa !!! Mucho !!! So much conversation to cover.

Carmen's groveling was disgusting. First and foremost is the lie about how Diego got her to his casa. That's the starting point for discussion and don't do it in public.

I'm still not getting this whole Esteban/Isabel/Mireya thing. Why does Esteban want Isabel in the mental hospital. Supposedly he wants Isabel for himself but he also takes advantage of Esteban and Mireya at every turn. I just don't get the angle. And there's nothing financial to gain from any of them. Confundida.

Did Maria tell Fecundo it was fine for him to go to the country with her but he's sending Beto? Mas confusion para mi.

Lola

I'm at the confundida table too. I hope there are some people that can shed some luz on it.

It's odd that everyone is trying to get money from Santi. He's broke!

Jarifa, I think this was your finest recap to date. You nailed every single scene with wit and humor.

"she needs to think of the kids (here I will use the legendary "blech" in reaction to that remark-jarifa)" and "Alejandra is having a semi pleasant time with Isabel" were my favorites.

"María does not want to ever be dependent on Facundo again". I am fervently hoping this is the case. Sweet music to our ears. Loved that she told Fac the home was hers too and that she is claiming ownership. Maria deserves a partner who treats her as an equal with the utmost respect. Thanks to Maria's mother (who surprisingly didn't throw her under the bus ITA Jarifa and Sara), Fac has a lot to muddle over.

"Carmen is obnoxiously whiney and loud". Jarifa, I have to admit, I do not like Carmen quite as much as I used to. Diego is not acting as a gentleman, but in truth, Carmen is using him. Whining I one of the least attractive qualities IMHO.

It’s a testament to the actor that I couldn’t even dislike Santi when he was throwing Estef out with nary a place to go. I keep telling myself “Oh, he didn’t really mean that”. When I see him with his kids, all is forgiven. I fear I am in for a nasty shock.

"Granpappy wonders if Facundo's mother is still alive". I wonder if this portends another storyline. Hope so!

Lola I don't know what Esteban has planned either. Does he want Isabel totally broken? How evil...

Diana

Lola, Sweetbaby Chihuahuas!, I have no idea what is going on with Esteban either. He is perhaps the most erratic character. I always end up feeling we really know nothing about him.

Lola, it was also so odd that Facundo had an open opportunity to go with María to the country but chose instead to send Beto. I even replayed it because I kept feeling like I was missing something. I don't get his logic. She was clearly open to him coming.. I would have thought he would have jumped at the opportunity and would see it heading towards a possible reconciliation.

Jarifa

Diana,

I loved your "with nary a place to go". I totally agree about Santiago. He always makes me smile. Hey, he loves his kids and is willing to go to hell and back for his "Puchis" in spite his "extracurricular activities."

Whining is one thing I cannot stand. The actress playing Carmen really has mastered the best "whine" I have heard in a while.

Jarifa

Sweet Baby Chihuahuas and Jarifa, thanks much for yesterday and today. Terrific catching up with everything this morning.

I am so loving Facundo’s misery. Hey, Facundo, no need to long any more for that fancy woman next door that’s prohibited to you. Your wife has grown sick and tired of your a$$ and will throw you back out on the market. So hook up with Isa and let your real misery begin -- Ha!

Now that I got that off my chest, I do want Maria and Facundo to find their way back to each other. They love each other and can grow together. Though I’m getting a kick out of Maria liberating herself, at the same time I don’t want her to become hardened. I like her new look, but I liked her old clothes too. I like her take-no-prisoners ‘tude with Facundo, but I liked her sweetness and innocence too. I hope Maria can merge it all.

I hate that Estefany will be moving in with the Carmonas. I don’t think Facundo is tempted by Estefany, but we know she will try hard to snag him and it’s such an insult to do this in the wife’s own home. Hopefully, Perpetua and Conchita will have Maria’s back.

I saw everybody was angry at Facundo for “the store that I bought you” line. I laughed my head off. I saw it as a desperate man trying to put in a feeble plug for himself. My take of Maria smiling to herself in the bathroom after his tirade was not only the fond memory of meeting Fac but also delight that he’s still so jealous of Florencio. We know Fac called Isa’s name during the vows because he saw her falling in the bushes, but in Maria’s mind she’s wondering if Fac still loves her like he use to, so I think his jealousy, while rude, made her think maybe his old feelings for her are still alive.

So Fac and Florencio had been childhood friends. I too don't get why Fac is sending Beto instead of accompanying Maria himself to San Bartolo. Is Fac too busy with work?

Kudos to Perpetua for not spilling the beans on Maria.

Facundo’s mother still alive? Now that’s wild.

Don’t know if I can get past Diego's lie about introducing Carmen to his mother. My teenage years are long gone, but I still hate guys who pull that crap. And that “I want to be your first.” Please! Carmen is a girl whose “first” will also be her “last.” I’m not sure Diego gets that, but Feli sure does.

Niecie said:

"I hope Maria can merge it all."

Yes! If she does I think that will send a great message! As far as women in this is odd how on the surface a lot of it seems like typical women's roles... but by the end of this thing we might have an empowering TN. Does that make sense?

Your whole commentary is fabulous, Niecie!

Jarifa-I am over Carmen's whining as well. I wish she could show some growth. I'm sorry you had to recap that whining. BLECH.

Niecie, wow. I also enjoyed every word on your comment, especially "...And that “I want to be your first.” Please! Carmen is a girl whose “first” will also be her “last.” I’m not sure Diego gets that, but Feli sure does".

I also want Maria and Facundo together but this shakeup in their relationship is a healthy one. Maria is a person in her own right with a life and many possesses talents that should be encouraged to flourish. Facundo needs to share! It's not all about him. But in his mind, it certainly is. That needs to change.

Diana

Jarifa- Another masterful retelling of this tn. Thanks you!

ITA about Carmen whining. But I felt both Diego and Carmen said valid things, and both didn't do it in the best way. She came off sounding whiny, and he came off sounding callous. It was obviously not the right time or place for them to have that conversation.

I loved Maria asserting HER rights to make decisions in HER home. Yes! She is being very hard with Facundo, but when she's working I do see the two Marias merge-- the business woman, and the sweet nurturing woman. Loved her scene with Rocio in the store and how she caressed her face. I'm sort of disappointed that Beto is going with them to the country. It would have been nice to see Maria and Rocio have a road trip alone. I also don't understand why Fac is sending Beto instead of going. Maria smiled and looked excited when she asked him if he wants to come. I was also offended that Fac tasked their SON with keeping men, specifically Florencio, away from his mother. That's not Beto's place.

Those french fries at dinner looked delicious and made me want some. Yum! Can't remember the last time I had fries.

I found it hilarious that the side affects of Isa's new drugs are: calm behavior, helping her daughter with her homework, being pleasant, and doing house work. And that this behavior has her family thinking she really must be crazy now, because it's so unlike her. Ha! Esteban is right to doubt that Mireya's drugs are having the desired affect of driving Isa to the manicomio.

ITA that Esteban is the most mysterious character. We do know he's obsessed with Isa, and money doesn't seem to be his end game, although he'll use it as a motivator for others (Santi, Estefi).

Very interesting comments, Niecie. I especially enjoyed and agree with your Diego/Carmen/Felipe assessment as well as your Facundo/María analysis.

Vivi, you sure hit the nail on the head: it is not Beto's job to look out for Facundo's "competition" and keep he/them from María. Beto did not look too happy about it either. Furthermore, Beto is supposed to be studying and working and not involved on helping his mother in her knitting ventures. Did Facundo not just say that to Diego recently?

Posting from my phone. Let us see how/if this works.

Jarifa

Jarifa,
Thanks for the recap. This thank you is in advance if me reading it. I know it will be great.

Diana,

I wrote a comment to you and sent it, but it somehow got lost.

I am happy to hear from you, and hope that you are doing well.

Thank you for asking about my nephew. He is doing good and enjoying his summer vacation in the pool. Sorry I did not answer sooner, but I just saw your comment.

Hasta pronto...
