Amores con trampa #71 y #72 7/6/15 and 7/7/15

I love this show so stinkin' much.

I have to warn the patio--I didn't get my nap time today and I'm feeling lazy....so it's mainly going to be a quick out-of-order run through.

Estefy moves into the Carmonas. Rocio drops the “she was my Tio’s lover” bomb and Maria seems to already know all about it. In fact, she says she and Estefy have already talked about it. What say you Vivi? Did this happen? Despite Fac’s protests, Maria puts her foot down. Estefy stays.

Santi finds out the next day when he runs into Estefy outside the Carmonas. Isa finds out, too. Estefy swears Maria is her best friend and that she will defend her tooth and nail. Isa says “What teeth? Those are veneers.” AND DESCOCADA ENDED UP IN THIS CONVO TOO!!!

Back at the Velascos, Isa thinks Santi asked his “friend” Maria to invite Estefy to stay.

Honestly, Estefy doesn’t turn out to be a horrible houseguest and I’m still left wondering if there’s a redemption in her future. Now you are probably saying, “Sara. Are you half chiflada? Didn’t you see that scene where Estefy threw her half clad body at Fac?” I did, dear reader, I did. And I agree that was not cool. Perpetua was correct in telling Estefy to cover up and to later provide her with more appropriate sleepwear. I secretly hope we actually see Estefy in that sack.

Yes, the road to redemption will be long and Estefy is sure to trip a few times on the way...but she made quite the progress in her dealings with Jacinto. Because his parents are fighting again, Jacinto has had another of his accidents. Estefy catches him looking out his door and trying to see if the coast is clear. She says to him “¿Cómo estás my child?” He is very embarrassed and afraid to tell her about his accident, so he covers with a little mini-lecture about Spanish on the border between the US and Mexico (Spanglish.) Estefy is very gentle with him. She admits she is not smart like him. In fact she says she’s kind of a tonta. But between the two of them they can solve his little problem. Jacinto is not sure what to with his wet bedding.

Later he and Estefy are in his room. She has a detox concoction and she thinks the perfect cover story would be to say that Jacinto told a hilarious joke and that she laughed so hard that she spilled her drink. Jacinto is not sure. While he waffles, Beto enters. He’s wearing just a towel. Estefy is so shocked she falls backwards and spills her drink all over the bed. Bingo! Jacinto is saved! Estefy even stands up for Jacinto when Susana says he wet the bed. Oh no! Estefy says. That wasn’t Jacinto. I was the one who spilled my detox juice.

Perpetua is NOT on board with the new houseguest. And she’s NOT on board with Maria’s plan to go back to the country. What does Maria plan to do with Estefy the princess when she leaves with the kids?

Rocio and Beto are still going strong. She’s even given him a key to the boutique. She plans to create a special space for just the two of them in the boutique. She sells the idea to Maria like this: The boutique caters to a higher class of customers. They need a space to relax and look at the designs without feeling rushed or stressed. Maria likes the idea. Rocio refuses to give Beto any hints about the space. It’s a surprise.

Hilda also makes a visit to the boutique. She wants to sell her tejidos as well. And Maria herself taught her...so they are quality. They promise to sell them on consignment. Boo. Go away, Hilda.

We got two Margartio appearances tonight and he even had some lines. He loves when Susana loves on him and pets him. He needs to have a talk to her about holding him securely. She almost dropped him twice. I guess she was distracted. She’s worried because her best friend Ale likes Andres, but Andres likes Susana. Showing a level of maturity greater than the adults, the two girls actually discuss it openly. Susana promises she would never go after Andres. In fact, there was a special boy back in San Bartolo el Chico that she liked: Fulgencio. Unfortunately, they’ve lost touch since she moved to the city. (Oh, I hope he comes for a visit!) The two girls promise to be best friends forever.

Perpetua and Conchita had a little spat today. What’s new? Perpetua is not impressed with Conchita’s fancy schmancy egg dish. Porfirio is not going to like that. Porfirio seems too lost in thought to care. What could be on his mind?

Like I said before, Maria and Fac are still fighting. He tried to get a little lovin’, but Maria shut him down. She told him to go sleep in the store room (which is the closest definition I can come up with for cuarto de tiliches.)

Oh, but my favorite part--Maria is getting in touch with her inner roar! Frederick Versanchez has called the press and they want to do an interview with her in the boutique and in her home. But did y’all love the way she worked it before she made the announcement? Did you notice? Eat your heart out, Fac. Fac is not happy about this interview. Carmen it thrilled though. It will be great for her modeling career. Even Porfirio thinks it will be a good idea. Girls!

The ending was a little anticlimactic. Isa is still taking her SOS pills. Santi tries to make her see that she is going to lose him if she keeps up the pill popping.

That’s about it, peeps. Please fill in all the gaps.

Excellent, Sara!

Yes, although none of us can remember Rocio finding out about Stefi and Santi, we were indeed shown Stefi telling Maria about her affair with Santi. She confessed all when she went to the boutique with her garbage bag full of clothes.

Stefi definitely gained points AND lost points as a house guest this episode. Lots of points added for being such a great "Tia Stefi" to Jacinto. Major points lost for running around at night in basically her frilly undies and throwing her "encantos" in Fac's face. But I do have more hope for her redemption after her scenes with Jacinto and her telling Isa to back off her BFF's man.

I need Perpetua to either shut up, or give Maria some useful advice. Loved the way Maria strutted her stuff before announcing the interview/photo shoot.

Vivi has spoken. Stef did confess. Lol.

I think my favorite part was Maria strutting her stuff.

Loved how when Fac let slip that Isa had just told him she's backing off, Maria called him on it. There he was, in the middle of scolding her for talking to Florencio (and openly admitting to it), while he had failed (yet again) to mention that he had seen and spoken to Isa. Hypocrisy, thy name is Facundo. Interesting as well how he can sympathize with Stefi's hurt feelings at being ditched at the altar by Santi for Isa, but has no sympathy for Florencio when he knows he robbed Maria from the altar.

Ack! And I totally forgot that scene where he and Isa run into each other and he was so stinking impressed she was making breakfast for the family. Blech.

Let's see if he mentions that run-in to Maria. Uh, huh. We know that won't happen.

Yeah, what was up with him being SO impressed with Isa fixing fruit with cereal and yogurt? Meanwhile, we see Maria cooking up something complicated, even after coming back from working at the boutique. He didn't even seem to register Maria's strut and sexy look. All he was thinking about was how the reporters would disturb HIS little world.

Fac just keeps looking dumber and dumber to me. Maria looks great and the house is still taken care of and she's doing more for the people of SBeC than Fac is. DUNDERHEAD.

Fac really hasn't taken Perpetua's advice to heart. Seems like after what she said to him in his office, he would have gotten to work wooing Maria. Instead, we've seen him turn down the opportunity to get away to the country with her, and behave like a jealous jerk. And does he really thinking climbing into bed, and patting her side of it, counts as "wooing"? Maybe Perpetua should have been more explicit. Perhaps she should spend her time hounding HIM instead of hounding Maria.

Thank you, Sara, your recap is great as usual. The Bachelorette had me held hostage so I am watching now as I am writing.
"Descocada", yes, appeared again. Too funny.

Rnadom thoughts:

I am loving this new María that does not let Facundo get away with anything. Vivi, yes Facundo is a hypocrite in several situations.he still has a lot to learn. After all of the trouble with María over Isabel, he still had to stop to chit chat with Isabel.

Margarito was so cute. I love it when the animals talk.

I, too, wish Granny Perpétua would just shut up already unless she is talking to Estefany about keeping covered up. That was some mightgown she gave her.

Facundo finally got the point that things were seriously not good between him and María when María told him she had not brought him his "cajeta envinada.".

Looks like Jacinto is finally going to get the attention he needs from Estefany.

Santiago referring to María's "oídos santos imaculados" and calling Estefany a "pecadora" (as if he had no role in her "pecado") were funny.

So glad Estefany filled the Carmona's and Rocío on how Isabel stole Santiago from her.

Satisfying episode!

Jarifa

Con mucho gusto, Jarifa!

All of the episodes are satisfying, aren't they? Even when annoying things are going down.

Thank you for the added vocabulary, too! I'm so glad you and Vivi have my back!

Sara, terrific recap.

I so love Maria standing up for herself. Yep, she absolutely nailed Facundo when pointing out his convo with Isa that he didn't tell her about.

But Perpetua's right about one thing. Not good timing to bring in a houseguest when your marriage is so volatile. Nice to see Estefany soften with Jacinto though, but it's a shame that Maria and Fac aren't following up on his bedwetting. I guess this is Estefany's chance to show she can think of somebody else besides herself.

The writers love F names. Facundo, Florencio, Fulgencio. I guess Fulgencio will be showing up one day.

Maria's last dress was a bit too hoochie for me -- the woman's curvy and got booty so she needs no extra help with the spandex. But I'll give her a break since she does need to break out and put her husband on notice that she is hot.

So Isa is serving her family fruit. Whoop-dee-do.

You always have my back! It works both ways. : )

Jarifa

Yes, my comment was directed to you, Sara.

Jarifa

I love you, Jarifa!!

Niecie - you are cracking me up with the whoop-dee-doo and the hoochie. And Fulgencio BETTER be showing up!

We've also got Ps- Perpetua and Porfirio. Est - Estefany and Esteban. And As Ale and Andres.

Sara, there is always something special about your recaps. There are always wry and hilarious comments. But, your observations are always priceless. Today,"Showing a level of maturity greater than the adults, the two girls actually discuss it openly" were Sara's wise words of wisdom for today. The recap was terrific.

I also loved Margarito's little convo with Susana. My favorite couple by far in this. Have we seen the spotted pig sporting a blue bow in any major scenes? Also a cutie.

I know I'm a pushover but as far as Este? All is forgiven in my book. She treated Jacinto with such respect and kindness, I started to tear up. She is definitely redemption worthy. When Jacinto called her "tia", I lost it.

Jarifa, yes, she will give him the attention he so deserves. And Niecie, Fac and Maria should be finding a solution to his bedwetting - they dropped the ball on this.

Vivi, I fear Facundo is very self centered, with the begrudging exception of his children. He has no empathy for Florencio and is still acting immaturely and selfishly with Maria, certainly.

I have to make a comment in that last night the horses were all tied in such a manner that they could hardly move their heads. I hope this was for a brief time only. Now I'm not an expert on horses so if this is common, someone please correct me. It also didn't appear there was any water (not that they could have gotten to it).

Diana

So how long before Florencio appears again to drive Facundo crazy? Sure hope it is soon.

Jarifa

Con mucho gusto, Diana!

May I sit with you at the pushover table? I just keep liking Estefy more and more.

I really wish they would give us one scene where they take Jacinto to the doctor just so he can say "There's no physical reason for the bedwetting, but it's a good thing you had him checked. There's not always just an emotional issue."

The pig with the blue bow must not have a very good agent because he doesn't get any lines or major scenes.

Susana and Ale are true friends.

I'm still thinking about Niecie's hoochie comment. I am sort of wishing they had given Maria a "luke" that incorporated her own down to earth style. The day she went to SBeC and she was walking around it heels was kind of silly. I think Maria could have rocked some jeans, a huipil, boots and a ponytail. She still would have been hot.

Jarifa- I'm really amazed that Florencio is not in the DF yet.

I get the feeling Susana may have liked Andres. But of course she is putting that thought out of her mind because of Ale.

I'm also looking forward to a possible Fulgencio visit.

And Sara, yes Maria "could have rocked" it in the outfit you described. The woman is hot. Period. Facundo is a jackass.

Diana

Thanks for all Sara .. always so helpful for filling in those blanks.

I wonder if Florencio will even come to the DF. Maybe Maria will be making more trips to the country and that's where we'll see him. I'm another who didn't especially like the blustery, rob the bride out of the church scene, although Maria surely didn't seem to mind.

Wonder what hijinks are going to be happening in Rocio's little "private space" in the boutique. I can think of all kinds of shenanigans going on in there and not just between Rocio and Beto.

Like the hot jeans Maria look idea.

Lola

Lawdy girl, you are a hoot. Thanks for this.

"Now you are probably saying, “Sara. Are you half chiflada?"

20 years of living in a shadow and to finally step out and feel the sun, no wonder, Maria's apathy toward anything Facundo. She has fed his colossal ego for years, herself emaciated, and now fed up. She looked damn good in that dress.

Perpetua annoys me greatly.

THE PIGLET IS BACK!!!

Only saw bits and pieces last night. Been reading the comments and had to stop and say--seems like Fac is turning out to be the "villain" of the piece. Even skanky Isa has an excuse for her behaviour because she's being drugged. Fac is just being an unpleasant, arrogant, macho jerk.

Sorry, Sara. Did read your awesome recap. Wasn't able to watch last night's ep entirely, like I planned. I'm sooo behind.

Did notice that Maria has changed her look.

Comment bomb.

Not SORRY I read your recap, Sara. Just sorry I didn't thank you in my first post.

I'm only commenting bombing because I know how you all like my little piglet :)

Finished reading the comments and had a few more things to say:

Felipe--another F name.

Diana: it bothers me that the animals are swimming in a pool that looks like it's chlorinated.

I think Susana does like Andres, at least she liked his kissing her. What if Fulgencio turns up and Ale and he "fall in love" at first sight, which Susana doesn't mind as much as she thought and she and Andres hook up (obviously in a G rated way)?

Nanette

tofie while I agree that Maria "has fed his colossal ego for years", I think his ego has enough fuel to burn all on its own, although Maria has certainly fanned the flames. ;)

"Fac is just being an unpleasant, arrogant, macho jerk" - yup Nanette, he certainly is! And while I wouldn't put him in Esteban's villain category, he certainly embodies a "many shades of gray" character that some of the recent galans have also sported.

Diana

Diana-I do sometimes feel like Susana might like Andres. I admire her for not following up. She does not want Ale hurt. It's really a shame the ADULTS can't act as maturely as their children do.

Con mucho gusto, Lola! I like the idea of Maria traveling back and forth as well...the costume department just can't keep putting her in heels if she's going to be walking around on dirt roads and hills. What were they thinking? Did anyone else notice how Africa almost fell after talking to Florencio?

ooo, and Lola again...I can't wait to see the little love space. Just please don't let there be any shenanigans with Fac (the biggest F) and Isa.

tofie!!! I always love to hear you telling it like it is!

Nanette-Bomb away, and recapping was my pleasure. I could stare at that piglet for hours. I get lost in his eyes! Fulgencio really needs to make an appearance...or at least some other young man. I know that Susana and Ale have promised to be friends forever but....teenage girls can turn in a heartbeat.

I think his ego has enough fuel to burn all on its own

Diana - Thanks for my afternoon lol!

Sara, your recap rocked!! loved the side funny comments.
Personally i think Facundo and Maria are material for one of those Steve Wilkos shows where Facundo comes in all proud and proper yelling that Maria has been unfaithful, only for Maria to take a lie detector test and she's all clean... Facundo is about to say ok then i will take her back home. Here comes Steve saying 'Hold it! we have one more lie detector test, folks!' and Facundo turns out to have been the one that was unfaithful at some point... So much for the MACHO pride...
I agree that Estefani got some plus and some minus points last night, just like Vivi said. her little nightie visit to the kitchen was inappropriate in a house of strangers, and her trying to help out Jacinto did get her some good points.
I do recall Isa and Estefi talking about Santee when they met somewhere, was it at the office or at the apartment where Facu spent one night? can't remember.

I have a bad feeling about the 'high end' room Rocio is planning at the store. Do you all remember that Hilda showed up and basically hired herself to be one of the knitters at the store and said she would be back later in the day to see how much of her work had been sold? i have a feeling there will be a mix-up where Rocio invites Beto but the one in the room is Hilda... hmmm... Hilda would never pass on an opportunity like that to get all over Beto.

I did notice Margarito had lines last night...
I too want Florencio to show up and spice things up for Maria and Facu. And yes, the noise of Maria's high heel shoes all over the kitchen is annoying at least. And inappropriate if she just came from the farmland.
I will bring the chips and guac to the patio tonight. anyone bringing any mimosas?

Marta, I will bring the mimosas (and a Shirley temple for myself).

Chips and guac sound delish - it's hot and humid here. But after the winter we endured, I'm not uttering a word of complaint! ;)

Diana

OT: I guess I did not have enough of machismo this week (LOL) so I went to see an interesting film this p.m. "Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem". (Israel/France 2014). The movie is in Hebrew, French and Arabic. It is about a woman in present day Israel and the five years it takes her to get her husband to "grant" her a "gett"(divorce) in a rabbinical court (the only divorce available in Israel). Oppressive and frustrating but well worth the view for anyone interested in the position/condition of women in different cultures,

Jarifa

Thanks, Marta! Glad you liked it.

I would love to see Fac and Maria on that talk show!!

I love guacamole. I'll bring extra chips, too. Diana, I prefer Shirley Temples heavy on the maraschino cherries. I'll bring an extra jar of those, too.

The previews look like we are in for some more machismo from Fac. Blech.

Jarifa-That sounds like an interesting movie. From what I understand, getting a get is a big issue and that lots of women have trouble getting one.

Jarifa- NPR did a story on that lady some months back, I'm guessing when the film came out. Such a frustrating experience for her and so many other women.

Almost patio time! Now what goes with that guacamole? Fish tacos!

Sara, all I coukd say was : Yikes! Having your adversary having to give you permission to get rid of him! The stuff of mightmares.

The movie itself was a drama not a documentary but I bet there are plenty of women who have had similar experiences. I will have to track down what NPR did. Thanks, Vivi.

Jarifa

Yesss! Fish tacos!

Jarifa- Here it is:

Vivi, thank you for the link. I appreciate it.

Tuesday July 7 #72 Part 1

Even with my nap I was falling asleep tonight. It’s gonna be really short and sort of to the point.

Fac is distracted. Felipe reminds him about a meeting he missed yesterday and a meeting today. He can’t even seem to understand what Felipe is asking him. Problems? My Problems?

The chickens discuss Jacinto feeding them. Then Jacinto and Porfirio talk about animal husbandry. Then Jacino tells Porfirio about Estefany’s help with the pipi. Jacinto is worried about his parents problems. Porfirio promises him that though Fac and Maria may have problems, they love their children.

Estefy and Maria talk over coffee. Estefany advises Maria to be careful. Fac sees a lot of woman every day and to come home to Maria’s bitter face is not the best thing. Estefy thinks Maria needs to give him a break. Maria just doesn't know what to do, but Estefany promises to support her no matter what. Perpetua interrupts and Estefany leaves. Perpetua tells Maria about Fac and Estefany in the kitchen last night. Estefany was half-naked.

Esteban is tired of waiting for Isa to go nuts. He wants Mireya to up her dosage and to convince Santi to send Isa to the nut house.

Maria has her interview and photo session.

Fac is in the middle of a meeting, but he is still distracted thinking about Maria’s interview and photo session. He leaves the meeting abruptly. He runs home and pitches a fit in front of the whole magazine crew. He throws them all out. He sics a cow on them. Jerk.

Isa interrupts one of Mireya’s sessions. The poor guy is so upset! Apparently Isa is more important because Mireya lets Isa throw him out. Isa makes a comment about Mireya’s perfume. Isa is upset about her marriage. She’s worried about losing Santi. She thinks he may be cheating, but not with Estefany or Maria. Jokes about Dos Hogares and Dos Mujeres Un Camino.

Fac and Maria fight about his jackassery. She is mad about him ruining the interview and he doesn’t even care. Maria is worried about what the kids are thinking. Fac whines about the “man of the house” having to sleep in another room and OMG he’s still whining about the cajeta(caramel). “You brought everyone some but meeee!” Turns out she did bring him some. He asks what he has to do for her to stop being mad. Maria tells him not to pitch fits and act like a four year old. He made an ass of himself and it scared the kids. I’m not convinced he was listening. He was too excited about his stupid cajeta. He asks her again to forgive him. He offers to talk to the children. Maria says she’ll talk to them. She says they’ll talk later when he calms down. She doesn’t want to see him right now.

Parte 2
Maria tells Perpetua to leave her alone and stop bothering her. She’s not going to talk to Perpetua about her plans any more.

Estefy comes to see Santi. Looks like Estefy is NOT at the redemption table tonight. She is still up to her old tricks. Isa comes home unexpectedly and Estefy has to make a quick departure. On her way out she says to herself that she has to keep all her candles lit: Facu, Santi and Esteban. Have I praised Ernesto Laguardia this week? He was hilarious in this scene.

Beto picks Rocio up from work. She still won’t show him the love nest. These two are so cute together.

Santi busts moves on Isa. He throws his jacket down and she picks it up, but smells perfume on it. She wants to know if he’s cheating on her. He just seems pleased that she’s jealous. She insists she’s not. She keeps asking if there is someone else. He says there’s not, but if she keeps treating him badly...someone could show up.

Maria is up late waiting for Fac to come home. Beto was looking for him too. Maria worries he’s with Isa. Beto doesn’t think so. Maria asks Beto to please tell her if Fac calls. Maria goes to bed. She caresses Fac’s side of the bed. She misses him.

Isa thinks about giving her pills to the rooster.

Santi makes a mysterious call. Unfortunately, the person he’s talking to doesn't seem to understand the code and he has to explain everything. He hangs up and talks about how clever he is. He should win an award! He talks to Isa’s pictures. “How many times did you call me useless? You will pay! Just you wait!”

Fac spends the night at his office. And it was an uncomfortable night on the couch. Beto finds him there the next morning. Fac asks why he’s not at the university. We’re back to hearing more excuses why he’s not in class. Beto tells Fac that Maria was worried. He thinks his father should swallow his pride and talk to Maria. Fac looks like there might be some hope.

In San Bartolo el Chico, Florencio is drinking alone...Until El Panzón shows up. Florencio never stopped loving Maria. She’s prettier than ever. She’s in so much pain. This is Florenico’s chance to win her back. He’ll win her back if it’s the last thing he does in this life. El Panzón is sure the blood will flow now.

Sara- You covered everything perfectly!

Maria was so right when she said Fac was behaving like a 4 year old. I can't believe how he broke up the interview like that. How utterly embarrassing for Maria. She took it a lot better than I would have. And now, Fac, you aren't even cute when you took a lick of the sweets Maria brought you. It just makes the 4 year old image come to life.

I did find Santi to be hilarious this episode. His eager, horny puppy routine just cracks me up. I credit EL with making me like this character. When he tried to cover his Stefi-induced stiffy from Isa, and she insisted on see in what she was hiding, then they both started screaming, and it turned out she was screaming about his horrible belt-- so funny! :)

She insisted on seeing what he was hiding.

Sorry for the typos.

Great recap, Sara! Vivi, i agree that EL is really making Santee as a character more likeable lately... after he gave up on trying to convince Maria to keep Facu on a leash.
I agree that Facu behaved indeed like a 4 year old. I do remember knowing that Maria had brought him some of his fav cajeta since when he asked for it the first time she said she had brought all types BUT that one, but she turned around and smiled (then I knew she had brought him some, jus was waiting for the right moment). Well, this was NOT the right moment, after he had humiliated her like that, but oh well.
and yes, the argument that ended up being about the belt that Isa did not think went with anything was funny indeed.
And I also agree that Rocio and Beto look so good together.

Beto and Rocio are adorable and I really like how the writers have left them alone for the most part and let their relationship evolve naturally. I'm also glad that Rocio seems to have slowed down the "let's get married in a month" plan that Beto wanted. She seems to be in such a good place emotionally and mentally right now. Love seeing her implement her ideas in the store, being a great spokesperson for Maria and the store, negotiating contracts, and drawing her designs. I hope she shares the designs with Maria soon and that they make them happen. I also like how Maria's love and respect for her is growing each day.

Beto still seems a little lost to me, although he's adorable. I'm still suspicious of him attending classes, even though we saw him that one time. All the excuses for why he's never at the university, when everyone else is, just don't seem to jive.

Sara, fine recap.

Yep, Maria telling Fac to quit acting like a four year old was the best line of the night. I confess when I saw that cute little cow in the house, I lost my anger against Fac. It was just so silly. Does Fac even know why he did it? Cause he thinks he’s losing control of his family? Cause he’s intimidated by Maria’s independence? Cause he was afraid Maria doesn’t love him any more? I wish Maria would say straight up, “I have supported you in everything you’ve done – why can’t you support me? Do I interfere with your of running Grupo Carmona [any more]?”

The chickens talking about Jacinto – too cute. Ugh, but again Porfirio is telling Jacinto that one day he won’t be with him. Only natural at his age to have this talk, but I still don’t like hearing it.

What’s up with Santi and the M-007? Who’s he conspiring with? He looked great in the cream suit and orange tie. Isa, I saw nothing wrong with his black belt but evidently you didn't look below the belt.

Estefany seemed genuine in her advice to Maria about Fac, but later she thought-bubbles about Fac along with Santi still being a target for her. I think she’s been in scamming mode so long, it's automatic.

Beto is the best. He pointed out that it’s not just Fac’s blunder on the vow renewal that distanced Maria. It’s all the crap since they got to the city. Which up to last night, Fac hadn't owned up to.

Hmmm, we never see Beto studying at home.

Niecie- I would even argue that when Maria interfered with his work at Grupo Carmona it wasn't really interference. She wasn't trying to sabotage him. She really thought Santi had a right to know when Fac was meeting with the board, and he did. Fac was not acting in a way becoming the Carmonas (fair, correct) and Maria felt strongly about that. But even if we consider what she did wrong, she owned up to it, and has stuck to her word to be straight with Facundo. He, however, has gone back on his word time and again, and can't seem to recognize or own up to his faults.

Sara, thank you for the wonderful recap. A very pleasant way to the start the day with my café!

Anyway, "jackassery" sure describes Facundo and his activities. I do not know if there is hope for him or María after he broke up the interview and María just stood there and let him do it. Her lack of reaction as it was happening was unbelievable. She let him do it as if it were his right to do so and not hers to have the interview at HER home, too.

I loved the chickens talking about how they liked Jacinto as compared to that ""tragón" (greedy) Porfirio. My favorite part of the night was of course Granpappy Porfirio talking to Jacinto.

I agree that Ernesto Laguardia is making Santago so likable and memorable. He makes me smile no matter what he is up to. His call was mysterious with his "macho 007" code. I wonder what he was up to.

Guess at this point, I fear (after hearing Granny and Estefany's advice to María) that María is going to be talked into just accepting Facundo as he is without demanding any real change or growth on his part. As for María, she keeps on trying to remind them all HE was the one that created the fiasco; she did nothing. Facundo with his cajeta envinada said it all. He did look look a big kid. Ugh! Bring on Florencio!

Sara, I am ready to go for tonight. Thank you in advance for your assistance with the header!

Jarifa

I think Maria makes an effort not to make a huge scent in front of the kids, unlike Fac. She takes their arguments to the bedroom where the kids can't see. Her first course of action was to go back and make sure the kids were ok. And I think it was a wise choice for her not to act like an angry fool, like Fac, in front of those reporters and their cameras. But her lack of heat as they argued in the bedroom tells me she's starting to give up on Fac and their marriage, and that's not a good thing for him.

Con mucho gusto, everyone!

Fac was at his petulant worst last night.

Something is so fishy about Beto's University attendance.

Vivi, my concern with the photo shoot was that with María's lack of reaction she ended up looking as much a fool as Facundo. Again, she ended up having to "pay" for his bad behavior by perhaps a loss of esteem in the eyes of the interview crew.

ITA Maria didn't challenge Fac in front of the cameras because of the kids. I can imagine I would've froze too under the same situation. When Fac said something like "I am the one that decides," an awful on-camera argument would've ensued if Maria had challenged him right there -- not good for the kids or her business image. At least as it is, only Fac comes off looking like a fool.

Jarifa, good point. But I'm thinking maybe women seeing the interview will be able to relate to what Maria was putting up with from her husband and maybe even admire her and visit the store because for what she's accomplishing despite her husband's (thanks, Sara!) jackassery.

Niecie- I like that idea and think it could be accomplished with a follow-up one-on-one interview with Maria discussing the challenges of being a wife, mother, designer, and business woman pursuing her dreams, while dealing with a difficult husband (cue the footage of Fac acting like a 4 year old). But I don't think that message would come through clearly if she just threw down then and there and started fighting with Fac Jerry Springer style. The press would have just painted them both as uncouth country bumpkins.

ara, most excellent! "Fac and Maria fight about his jackassery" and "I’m not convinced he was listening. He was too excited about his stupid cajeta"
had me smiling away.

"Have I praised Ernesto Laguardia this week? He was hilarious in this scene". Yes, he has been a sheer delight. However, I’m only willing to forgive the character so far ‘cause he’s so darn cute. “He talks to Isa’s pictures. “How many times did you call me useless? You will pay! Just you wait!” Hmm, I will reserve judgment until we find out what this nasty bit of business is.

“And now, Fac, you aren't even cute when you took a lick of the sweets Maria brought you”. Vivi, your comments about Facundo (all of them) were spot on… But…don’t you think EDUARDO looked kinda adorable? Sigh. I have to take my EY moments when I can as he is certainly not doing or saying much to be the galan I’d expected.

“Isa, I saw nothing wrong with his black belt but evidently you didn't look below the belt”. OMG Niecie, you crack me up.

Jarifa, your “…I fear…that María is going to be talked into just accepting Facundo as he is without demanding any real change or growth on his part” really hit home with me. Like you and others, I cannot believe she handled his tirade and ruining her interview without going for the jugular. I agree with Niecie that it should have been after the fact but should have occurred nevertheless. I am holding out hope that there will be a miraculous transformation in that Fac will realize he has a loving, true partner and treat her accordingly. Hope springs eternal :)

Sara, thank you for brining a fresh breeze of fun into this hot and humid day.

Diana

Sorry, don't know what happened to my S in Sara.

Diana

Well, since Maria is still secretly planning on making her fortune and then ditching Fac in the city, I don't think she's accepting anything. She's just given up on Fac changing.

When Granny Perpétua pulled the "you are not having your morning coffee with me as we have done since you were a child" when María was having a cup of coffee with Estefany really drove home the fact again of how limited María's life has been outside of her family. Made me think of the old Spanish saying "Mujer honrada pierna quebrada y en casa" ( An honorable woman is at home with a broken leg) ( which I interpret as an honorable woman at home and not out and about gossiping with other women or attracting other men's attention). Just the fact that María has no female friends beyond Estefany (and that friendship could be questionable) has always surprised me; but of course she has had her mother as her one and only female friend inside her own house; no need for someone outside of the "family" or so it seems. I sure hope María is truly done with telling Granny anything about her personal life with Facundo or her plans and finds a trusted friend beyond Estefany.

Sara, I missed last night, but not really thanks to your stellar recap.

I too so enjoy EL. Wasn't he in Alborada in an entirely different role as a sidekick of Colunga? I loved that tn, my first, and I was hooked. EL's acting abilities are wide ranging and he's great in this comedy. Who knew? In fact, I think all these actors are doing a great job of giving their character depth.

I do hope Beto is up to something mind growing. I think Rocio will soon outgrow him because of her enterprising spirit.

Guess I'm not too sorry I missed the interview scenes. Poor Maria.

Lola

Con mucho gusto, Diana and Lola.

Diana- you have me worrying now. If Rocio spreads her wings (Oh! That really happens in the opening credits!), will Beto show himself as his father's son? Please don't turn Beto into a macho jackass.

Lola- I love and agree with your comment about the characters and their depth. It's one of the reasons I like this show. I think I am becoming less interested in stories these days. I'm watching another TN where very little actually happens but the performances are so good and the characters are interesting so I don't really care.

Lola- Until Facundo showed up, everyone was having a grand old time with the interviewer/photogs, even the animals. The cow kept trying to hog Maria's spotlight when they were taking her pics. So cute!

Lola, I believe EL was in Amor Real (never saw Alborada so can't comment on that). He had a major transformation and went from villain to galan. He does drama well and was excellent in that role as well.

Vivi, yes, the cow was adorable. I miss the animals running (cutely) amok!

Diana

Vivi, I know that Maria plans to move back to the country, concentrate on her career and leave Facundo behind, but I have a sneaking suspicion plans will change :)

Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean we will see any growth or change in Facundo's behavior. If that doesn't occur, it would be a shame.

Diana

Lola, EY was not in Alborada. YOu mean Alejandro Tomassi? the smart sidekick? OR Valentino Lanus, the son of ALejandro Tomassi's character.

Diana, you are right. EL played the immature, splurgy brother of the heroine... but by the end he had actually fallen for his wife (whom he married for money), played by the late Mariana Levy (sort of a rich Betty la Fea transformation for her through the novela) and ended up a very mature nice husband and brother. Talk about different looks in the two novelas for EL. LOL

EY made several novelas as a young actor, some as lead role... then went away to Hollywood and made some movies there for several years, and then came back to Televisa to make La Verdad Oculta and then he continued on with Destilando Amor, Fuego en La Sangre, corazon salvaje '09, amores verdaderos and now Amores con Trampa. Part of his early work (young EY) included Dulce Desafio , you compro esa mujer and a tv series version of the classic Marielena.

Hi Everyone .. me again about EL not EY. EL played Cristóbal de Lara in Alborada according to Wiki .. not that Wiki is the best source of info. However, I truly believe I remember him in that role. The site also says he's now in Amores con Trampas as Santiago Valasco so I think it was him.

Lola

I think I remember EL from Alborada, too!

EL is now on my list of must watch actors.

Thanks Marta.

I loved EL in Amor Real (saw much of it but not all). And Mariana Levy was great - what a shame she died so young.

Sara, I will be watching for EL from now on as well. What a talent

Diana

Less than an hour to Amores time!!! See you all on the patio!

Jarifa

Lola, yes, sorry. EL was indeed Cristobal, Luis's best friend. He was the doctor around town. And yes, it was a great role for EL there. Loved that they paired him with Iran Castillo in a good role for her as well. Iran was the one that played a young Rebeca here.
