Amores con trampa #85 and #86 7/27/15 and 7/28/15

The captions were off tonight, almost everyone was deep in the SBeC accent and my brain decided it didn't understand Spanish. I've recapped the first 30 minutes. I will finish it tomorrow when it's up on Hulu. The captions will hopefully be better.

There’s a rehash of Carmen taking down the casting information and Francis trying to goad her into a fight. Unfortunately, Carmen in unaware that Francis has removed the most important part of the poster. It’s a casting for models for a teeny weeny bikini line.

At the boutique, Maria tells Rocio that Fac is not the man she married. Rocio tells Maria that Beto told her about Maria left Florencio at the altar for Fac. Rocio asks Maria if she ever regretting leaving Florencio stranded at the altar. Maria gets uncomfortable and walks away. Both of them hear the bell announcing a customer. A man enters with a huge bouquet of roses. Maria thinks it’s Facundo, but it’s Florencio. He says “all these roses together cannot match the beauty of your face.” He hopes they can can at least make her ojitos de venado sparkle (I translate under duress because it sounds like crap in English: literally deer eyes. I guess I could go with doe eyes.)

Fac is angry at Beto for keeping quiet about the meeting. Santi takes up for Beto. It was Santi’s decision to keep Fac in the dark. Fac accuses Esteban, Feli and Santi of stabbing him in the back as soon as he turned around. Santi denies that is what they are doing. On the contrary, Santi has Fac’s back. Fac just laughs in his face. No, Fac is convinced that Santi just wants to take everything from him. Feli swears to Fac that things aren’t what they seem. Fac accuses them all of being traitors and calls Beto the worst of them. He turns to Beto “Remember when I said we would end up laughing at them all? Now look at the laugh you gave me.” Poor Beto looks like his heart is breaking. Fac walks away and Santi makes this hilarious face. I had to rewind it and watch it a couple of times.

Florencio asks Rocio if he can have a moment alone with Maria and the mush-mouthed thickly accented words begin to flow like confounding waters from his mouth. While Maria and Florencio play back and forth with the roses, he apologizes for having caused her problems by writing that letter and she insists it’s over and done and she won’t accept his flowers. He’s in the DF on business and just wanted to take advantage of the trip and stop by and apologize. He asks her if she remembers how close they were(?) She says that’s when they were kids. He says something about her batting her big eyelashes at him (pestañotas?) She reminds him that her life is with Fac and her four children. Florencio excuse himself and leaves. Maria dumps the flowers on the runway.

Ale doesn’t feel well. Susana says her grandmother says a spoonful of castor oil will help Ale feel better. Ale doesn’t want to take it. I’ve never even tried the stuff, but from what I’ve seen from old movies...I don’t want to. Run, Ale! Susana tries to give her a spoonful. Ale refuses. Ale sniffs it and exclaims “Guácala!

Rocio asks Maria why she threw away the flowers. Maria doesn’t want problems with Fac. Florencio has always been a hombre de ley (good, stand-up kind of guy), but Maria fell in love with Facundo just for who he was. Rocio wonders how Maria feels about Florencio now. Maria felt happy telling Florencio that Fac and her children where her life, but Maria asks if she and Rocio could keep the visit strictly between the two of them. Rocio agrees and tells Maria she’ll get rid of the flowers.

Florencio skulks about the Carmona/Velasco property and runs into Isa. The two sit down to talk unintelligibly. Isa remembers seeing him before. She tells him that neither Maria nor Fac are home. She asks if she can address him with “tú”. Isa suggests he wait on at the Carmonas in one of the rocking chairs. Maybe Porfirio or Perpetua could visit with him. Florencio thinks it’s better for him to wait with Isa.

Susana tricks Ale into looking the other way while she pours castor oil in Ale’s orange juice. Ale, no intellectual slouch, plays the same trick on Susana in order to switch the glasses. Susana didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday. She repeats the previous trick, but does NOT switch the glasses, so when Ale gets the last switch in it is Ale who’s left with the castor oil-laced orange juice. Blech.

Isa wonders how long Florencio has known Maria. Well, he’s known her forever, before Facundo even! Isa starts to slip into the SBeC accent with a touch of Refugio’s “mushasha” accent in order to make sure I’m extra frustrated (but laughing too. It’s so goofy.) He tells her about being Maria’s novio until Fac took her. Isa can’t believe that mushasha left him at the altar. He wonders why she’s talking like him. (It’s comedy, dude.) Isa comes to her senses and assures him she’s from the city. They start in on how gossipy the people are in SBeC

Diego’s cocky refusal to remove his sunglasses (they’re like my signature), wins the respect of the photog. Diego gets the job. Carmen arrives and is shocked that it’s a bikini casting. Diego is surprised to see her there as well. Francis arrives. Didn’t Carmen read the announcement?

Isa isn’t a gossip, but she does have some information. Maria’s marriage is in a crisis and Florencio could easily win her back.

Carmen takes the bait and asks where she can change into the bikini. Francis sticks around. She wouldn’t miss this for the world. She gets grabby and harassment-y with Diego.

Isa is back to the ranchero accent and she encourages Florencio to go back to the boutique and give Maria a big kiss.

Back in San Bartolo el Chico, there’s a man looking for Porfirio Carmona. (Is this the private eye?)

Carmen prays to the Virgen to give her strength to go out there and not be scared or nervous even though she’s half-naked.

The distinguished gentleman looking for Porfirio looked for him at his old house, but now they were building a highway. The SBeC crew explain that the Carmonas are long gone. The gentleman asks where Porfirio is...that is, if he’s still alive. They assure him that he’s alive. Well, then where is he?

Florencio is back at the boutique. Maria is indignant. She’s already told him once that she’s married and has kids. The youngest really needs her. Maria allowed his earlier comments as a friend. Florencio tells her that he knows she considered leaving Fac. Maria wants to know who he’s been talking to. Florencio asks her again to to off with him. Maria refuses. She’s in love with Fac despite the problems. Wow. Florencio is pushy. He keeps going. Maria tells him again, she’s in love with Fac even if he’s a blockhead (tarugo).

The casting photog still needs to find a partner for Diego for the campaign. Enter Carmen. She’s a little nervous, but the photog just tells her to be herself. He loves her. She gets the job! Diego rubs it in Francis’s face. Francis takes pictures with her phone.

Wow. Even after a commercial, Florencio is still at it. And Maria is still repeating that she’s MARRIED. Florenico tells her to think about. His arms will always be open for her. He says something about her eyes being like mirrors. He tries to keep going, but Maria shuts him up.

Fac is home and still angry. Beto comes to talk to him.

*knock knock* Who’s there?

Yo.

Yo who.

Beto.

What Beto.

Beto your son.

I have one son, Jacinto.

Dude. That was a low blow.

Fac doesn’t want to have anything to do with Beto. Beto doesn’t care. Fac is going to listen to him. Beto is worried about his dad. Fac only calls him a traitor again. Beto tries to explain that no one was against him. Fac thinks Santi is trying to end up with the company again. Beto tells Fac to stop fighting with everyone. Fac is not going to take lesson in comportment from his own son. Beto warns his father that if he keeps acting the way he is, Fac will end up alone….without Maria, the kids and the business. Fac just tells him to leave him alone.

Maria asks Perpetua if she said anything to Florencio about the marriage problems.

At the SBeC bar there’s lots of babbling and bleeps and FF motion. The gentleman and teh San Bartolo el Chico Boys say something about the drinks. They talk him into trying some tequila. The gentleman toasts the room “¡Que viva Méxcion ca….nijos!”

Part Two.
Perpetua wonders why María thinks she would say anything to Florencio. Maria tells Perpetua about Florencio's two visits to the boutique. The first time he claimed he was just offering his sincere friendship, but he really won't give up the idea of Maria running off with him to SBeC. Perpetua just can't believe that Maria would think Perpetua would talk to Florencio. Perpetua reminds Maria that she's always been on Fac's side. It was Maria's father that wanted the marriage to Florencio. But thank God, Maria ended up with Fac. Perpetua reminds Maria she's married to Fac. Maria still wonders who could have put the bug in Florencio's ear. It couldn't have been Hilda de la Mercedes or el Panzon. At the exact moment they both make the same realization "Isabel!" Perpetua exclaims "Madre del divino verbo!" (I love that for some reason!) Maria looks like she's about to start whack-a-moling (Thanks, Marta!)

Maria heads right over to Isa's and confronts her about blabbing to Florencio. Maria tells Isa to not turn her "lomo" on her. Isa takes offense and says "the word is 'espalda'. We aren't in a butcher shop." Maria ignores it and tells Isa to butt out of her life. Isa accidently(?) sprays bug spray in Maria's eyes. Maria starts to run home with Isa following. Ale sees them.

At home, Maria flushes her eyes with water. Fac says her eyes look like jitomates. He asks her forgiveness again. Maria is frustrated by this. Fac says he'll ask a thousand times if he needs to, but Maria thinks that instead of worrying about begging for forgiveness Fac should be worrying more about always messing things up (meter las cuatro patas.) Fac laments that everything he's been doing lately goes wrong. He's really upset by it. I'm really not paying attention (and I should because I've actually got the captions right now.) All I'm seeing is Fac wallowing in self-pity for a situation he could have totally avoided and Maria is standing there still suffering the effects of having had bug spray sprayed in her eyes. I kind of like that she looks like she's going to go in for a kiss and then just walks away. Serves you right, Fac.

Ale wants Isa to stop fighting with Maria. Maria is a good person. Ale thinks Isa was very unfair with her. Isa thinks daughters should support their moms. Family is more important.

At the dinner table, Maria just plays of her red eyes as being from allergies. This leads Porfirio to wax nostalgic about the country. Fac cries about SBeC. He takes a sip of his tea and says it's terrible. It tastes like cow crap (I assume from the bleep.) Conchita tells him it's a new mango tea she bought at the market. Then Pertpetua complains about the the sauce on the chicken. Conchita says it's in an aphrodisiac sauce made from red fruits and some herbes fines. Everyone complains about the food. Why are they so mean to Conchita? Perpetua tells to stop experimenting with the food and to take that kind of food to the folks next door. Porfirio starts talking about what he would rather eat.

Francisca goes to see Feli at work. She is rude to the secretary and shows Feli the pictures of Carmen in the bikini. Not sure I see anything wrong with that. If Feli flips his lid about Carmen modeling in a bikini I will flip my lid. The bikini had a lot more coverage than some I've seen. Francis goes on about how common and vulgar Carmen is. And here was Feli thinking Carmen was a saint. Whatever, Francis.

Jacinto is interested by the fruit. Conchita says they will never appreciate the finer things. Carmen tells the family about the casting and getting the job. Applause! Fac does't like her doing this. Fac reminds the family that they came to the city so the kids could study and get ahead. They don't seem to be studying.

Florencio is back at Isa's. He wants to know what Isa's real game is. He's figured out she doesn't get along with Maria. Isa explains they are "different." In that Florencio agrees. Florencio goes on about Maria. And how he's like a cloud and she's the sun? Ok. Even with captions he's just going to fast and I'm not picking up anything remotely important other than what he thinks Isa doesn't like Maria and there's some ulterior motives going on. Please feel free to correct me or fill in.

Oh, my favorite part! Cheesy product placement! (For the record, I normally dislike them, but it's been so long since I've seen one and Susana and Ale were so cute that I actually liked it.) Ale suggests that now that they've finished their homework they should get a snack. Susana hates to break it to Ale, but she really doesn't like Conchita's cooking. It's really...sophisticated. Ale likes Conchita's cooking. Ah well! One thing they do agree on-milk! Pour them another glass!

Hilda sends a text: "Did you know Florencio went to see Maria in the boutique?"

And the text was to Fac, who immediately confronts Maria. She just didn't want any trouble. Fac starts in on "me caveman. You my woman." And maybe he didn't grab her hair, but he did some grabbing and pushing her down that I am not cool with (and this is not a problem with my inner feminist, either...you don't go manhandling ANYONE just because you're angry.) Oh, he gets pissy because he talks to Isa and Maria flips and Maria is entertaining visits from Florencio. He wants her to assure him that he's not losing her. He loves her and doesn't want to leave her. Maria tells him he needs to listen. Doesn't he see or realize all the things she's done because she loves him? She's moved to this city she hates!

Esteban wonders if Santi is going to continue to see Mireya since Isa is no longer under her care. This scene has lots of Santi giggles. I love it. No, he's not going to keep seeing her. She's crazier than Isa! But he agrees that Mireya has her charms *giggle*. Whispered dirty talk. Esteban has Santi signing papers and encourages Santi to keep seeing her to keep himself occupied. Santi has a bitter face these days. He needs some passion! Methinks Esteban is getting Santi to focus on Mireya so he doesn't focus on the papers he's signing. Santi says he's going to focus on work, not the ladies. Santi says he needs to focus on he next attack on the charro monteperros.

The Fabulous SBeC Boys are not too sure about this fuereño looking for Porfirio. "What if he knows that Porfirio has money and just wants a loan?" says one. "Not everyone is in your condition!" answers another. The head guy thinks they need to keep the private eye from leaving. Aaaand I don't understand a word, even with captions. I do sort of catch something about the 8th commandment (about stealing) and I think it's decided they will keep the PI from leaving SBeC.

Santi goes to see Isa. He has a surprise! He's going to sell their house!

Previews: Isa fakes a suicide attempt.

Dear Sara, I saw bits and pieces of this. I so look forward to your recap - I know it will be fantastic.

I did see the milk scene with the girls and enjoyed every second. The young people (Susana, Jacinto and Ale) bring much levity and happiness to the story and are a breath of fresh air. They seem "real", don't complicate or overanalyze and take care of their lives and business caringly, thoughtfully and without any malicious intent.

And on the polar opposite end of the spectrum, I am really sick and tired of Francis. Please, give Carmen another storyline, perhaps one with real friends where Carmen can spread her wings and show us who she is. Let her have a purpose other than the constant challenge of overcoming Francis' "pranks".

I am starting to cringe every time I see Facundo as I know some sort of angry tirade is coming. Writers, please limit him to time alone in the pool without others around to scold and berate. Let him calm himself with a nice, nightly swim so he (and we) can relax while we enjoy the view in merciful silence. Ack.

Have to get up early and have a long day tomorrow - will check in later tomorrow.

Sleep well all.

Diana

Diana-You are so correct about Ale, Susana and Jacinto. Their scenes are always to delightfully innocent and uncomplicated. I so enjoy them.

And yes...Fac needs to swim laps and think about what he's done. You and I can sip tropical drinks and make sure he does them properly. ;-) (And the drinks have to have little umbrellas.)

You sleep well too, Diana.

Sara, yes, we will enjoy our drinks (with multicolor umbrellas) and critique Facundo's swimming form! :)

He is so stubborn and his self righteousness is so very sad. I'm not sure if and how he will change but a major transformation is needed if he and Maria are to live happily ever after.

Diana

I had hoped that by this point we would see a change in him. Now I fear we are going to be subjected to a last-minute, in the last week miraculous turn around. I never find those very believable.

Looks like one of the Fly Girls got her hair cut.

Characters that annoy the you-know-what out of me: Hilde, Fac, Isa, Frances and Perpetua.

Thanks so much for the recap so far, Sara.

I also enjoyed the sweet innocent scenes with the younger kids. I'm glad they've just ignored Fac's last order about hanging out with Ale.

I also liked how clearly Maria laid out for Florencio her feelings for Fac, her family, an where he stands. No sputtering or fumbling around like Fac does when Isa comes on to him. I do wish she had just told Fac about the visits so that he couldn't have that to hold over her head. How did Hilda know? And why the heck is Fac accepting texts messages from her?

I like that Diego was supportive of Carmen during the photo shoot and that the two of them will be the faces of this ad campaign. But we all know Fac is going to blow up when he sees those photos.

Sara, Part 1 is great. Thanks for taking the time to decipher the San Bartolo and mushmush accents running rampant last night. I actually found the Beto-Facundo knock-knock sequence funny, so thanks for the details.

Kudos to Beto for standing up to his dad's bluster and warning him he'll wind up with nothing if he keeps it up. And Kudos to Maria for not leading on Florencio but also not giving in to Fac either.

Don't know what to say about Florencio's intent to visit the Carmona's house. What if he had run into Perpetua and Porfirio? Anyhoo, I'm so glad that Maria and Perpetua figured out Isa was the one who blabbed to Florencio. I wish Maria had told Fac that fact.

The girl's juice switch was too cute.

Sara, I am so enjoying your recap. Thank you,

Nanette, you must have been reading my mind with your most disliked characters at the moment. They all need their own special kind of anvil in the end. No death, disfigurement, or physical abuse (skulking was a flogging offense in the 18th century royal navy) just something to make them feel bad enough to change their ways or leave the scene.

Vivi, How did Hilda know? She is the master skulker!!!! They have given her almost ninja like skills. Too funny.

I like the private detective so far.

Jarifa

I've finished it up in grand half-assed style. I'm also wondering how Hilda knew.

Hardly "half ****"! The recap is marvy. I loved your "whack-a-mole" reference. Facundo was way too grabby and pushy for me, too. Just another example of him feeling he is ENTITLED.

Cute the dubbed chipmunk voice when Santiago was talling to Esteban.

Loved how El Panzón and the Amarripa brothers have closed ranks around Porfirio and won't give out any info to the mysterious detective/investigator.

My favorite scene was the one between Beto and Facundo. Beto was right that Facundo could end up all alone due to his behavior but Facundo has a better understanding of Santiago's true intentions than Beto. Facundo looked desperate and pathetic by not knowing any other way to deal with all if these challenges than by the way he has been trying to deal with them . I actually felt sorry for him at the end of that scene.

That is all for now.

Jarifa

Has there been some editing going on here?

Facundo looked desperate and pathetic by not knowing any other way to deal with all if these challenges than by the way he has been trying to deal with them. I actually felt sorry for him at the end of that scene.

Jarifa, ITA. One reason I feel for Fac is that he's a school dropout but he's taking on well-educated lawyers, and we do know that Santi means to crush him. Beto and Felipe are naïve about this.

On Fac's anvil, maybe instead of getting a big wallop, there will be an unraveling of him. We're already seeing him lose ground. Maria, Beto, and even Susana are all successfully challenging him in their own way. He's so busy fretting over the possibility of Maria leaving him (though it doesn't look like she will), he hasn't even had time to muse about Isa.

Thanks everyone!

Nanette-I've noticed the Fly Girl's new 'do. I don't really like it. I'm also beginning to wonder about the choppiness of things. If they are editing, it doesn't seem to be in big ways. Just little snips here and there?

Vivi-Vivi, I started to copy and paste from your comment, and realized I was pretty much copying the whole thing. Word to everything. Especially the part about how clearly Maria was able to spell out her feelings and how UNclearly Fac seems to do that with Isa. And ditto to all your questions regarding Hilda.

Jarifa: Thank you for the history lesson on skulking. That is so awesome. The history part....not the part where Hilda does it so well and then uses it against people.

Gotta agree on the chipmunk voice. That was so funny.

Also thank you for filling in the names of the SBeC boys and what they are up to.

Niecie and Jarifa: I really enjoy your comments about Fac and where he is coming from.

And Niecie, I especially love this statement:

"We're already seeing him lose ground. Maria, Beto, and even Susana are all successfully challenging him in their own way."

It's so true.

One more thing . . .I am really enjoying Agustín Arana as Florencio. Just hope we see more of him in D.F. apart from El Panzón.

Jarifa

Jarifa - I almost had the fleeting thought of Florencio and Isa getting together!

Oh! Or if Fac could shut up for 5 minutes, he and Florencio could team up against Santi!

Now that could be interesting, Sara.

Jarifa

Outstanding recap Sara.

"Mush-mouthed thickly accented words begin to flow like confounding waters", "The two sit down to talk unintelligibly" and "Fabulous SBeC Boys" were marvelous. However, “Ale, no intellectual slouch” and “Susana didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday” made me smile in pure delight.

I am so frustrated in that it appears I missed crucial scenes including Carmen’s bikini interview. Drat.

“I have one son, Jacinto”. Oh no, he didn’t??? Facundo, yes, you are now definitely dead to me. I don’t care how many laps you swim or how many times you wear your shirtless overalls. We are fini.

"Why are they so mean to Conchita"? I don’t know Sara, but she was really upset last night. I almost screamed when Perpetua needed to add her always unasked for two cents (over valued if you ask me). Basta!

Nanette, I am with you 100% on your list of characters that annoy (and upset).

Vivi, yes, Maria was very truthful to Florencio and gave him no encouragement. Too bad Isa encouraged Florencio to try and resuscitate Maria's feelings for him which obviously died long ago and she jilted the man at the altar for heaven's sake!

Jarifa, you are right in that Facundo is clearly out of his depth on so many issues right now. If he would only take a breath and think calmly and rationally before he spoke, others might be inclined to listed. Your idea of his unraveling is an excellent one Niecie. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom and then begin again.

Diana

Others might be inclined to listen (not listed). Sigh.

Diana

Thank you, Diana. What a guffaw I got out of this line: Facundo, yes, you are now definitely dead to me. I don’t care how many laps you swim or how many times you wear your shirtless overalls. We are fini.

(Not a giggle...a guffaw.)

And Perpetua's two cent are severely overvalued.

I kind of feel like I left something important out from last night. Maria's dad was team Florencio because Florencio had money. I just want to put that out there...because I really like my idea of Fac and Florencio working together.

It wont' happen. That much bluster in one room may make the building implode, but it's fun to daydream about it.

"That much bluster in one room may make the building implode".

Amen sister, Amen... :)

Diana

I have to help hubs with something, but I'll be back with the recap soon. Luckily the captions seemed to be on time tonight. And there wasn't a lot of mushmush(™ Niecie.)

Nanette-I'm really beginning to wonder if Univision has taken out their scissors. Maybe this show is just that badly edited?

Tuesday 7/28 Parte 1
No refrito tonight! They drop us right in the middle of the cantina in SBeC where the Amarripa Brothers and friend continue to discuss the PI and why he would have business with Porfirio. They want to keep him in SBeC until he spills the beans about Porfirio. They find it funny that the PI is trying to extract info from those two ladies. They are mute!

Isa thinks it’s a joke that Santi is going to sell the house. How can he take the house away from the family? Santi thinks that the last thing Isa cares about is family. Isa accuses him of doing this to hurt her. He knows that this is where her child was born. This is where Felipe and Rocio grew up. She gives up. She’s not going to argue with him about the house or money. She only asks that he not sell the painting her father gave her. Santi thinks it’s kind of a scary painting. I’m more a El Greco, Velazquez and Goya kind of gal myself, so I’m not too sure about it either.

Felipe goes to see Carmen and confronts her about posing in a *gasp* bikini. I’m still not convinced that the bikini was that bad. I get that Fac will be mad, but Feli is acting more scandalized than he should. Does he only like Carmen because she’s virginal? Carmen asks if he thought she looked pretty. Susana, Margarito and Estfany listen in. Estefany tells Susana to listen carefully. Her tía Estefany is going to give her some great advice.

The music at the SBeC cantina drown out the sounds of the PI’s cell phone. Doña Martina is calling. We see a pair of gloved hands and hear a voice “I will need to send a text to Franklin. I need to know. What’s happened with Porfirio Carmona?”

Ok. I think Feli heard me because he’s now apologizing for getting into her business. He just wanted to protect her. She can put on whatever she wants. He apologizes again and leaves. Susana makes her entrance and declares that she needs to buy a few things for Margarito(including his psychologist.) Susana is sure Carmen will give her the money for it. Carmen scoffs...until Susana threatens to tell their father about the bikini job. Susana brokers a deal that will net her half of Carmen’s modeling money. Estefy looks on like a proud parent.

Fac gets 2 points from me tonight. It looks like he’s trying to learn to knit. That means he’s trying to do something for Maria. Not just buy her something either. KNITTING (historically men’s work, but somewhere along the line it became women’s work.) Big Ed even looks like maybe he’s actually learned to cast on at some point in his life and he’s just forgotten. I digress. Perpetua brings him some quesadillas. He wants to know if Maris has told her anything. In tonight’s episode Perpetua of the perpetually changing loyalties is loyal to Maria and won’t tell him anything.

Panzon is the chef tonight. He asks how Maria liked the flowers. As long as Maria is having trouble with Facundo, Florencio has hope. Florencio tells him to quit talking about it and get the food. Did Panzon say he made fish cakes?

Fac wants to know if Maria has said she doesn’t love him. Perpetua promised not to talk to Fac about Maria. She finally tempts him into eating some quesadillas.
Isa has prepared a candlelit dinner. She’s playing and singing opera music (I think she said La Traviata.) Feli, Rocio and Ale are suspicious and scared. Isa tries rock music. They don’t seem thrilled with that either. She then tries a cumbia and dances away.

Perpetua suggests to Maria that she and Fac get away for a while. Remember how much they liked that little cabin in the mountains? The one Luchano Perez has. Maria likes the idea. She and Fac always had fun there.

Isa prepared most of the food herself (ok, most of it came from a restaurant.) Rocio wonders at the Castle Dracula decor. Isa says Rocio the “darketa” should like it. Isa doesn’t want to fight, this could be their last meal together. She tells them that Santi is going to sell the house. Rocio isn’t surprised. Ale is glad Isa didn’t do all the cooking. She would burn it. Rocio asks if Isa poisoned them. Is that why Isa called it the last supper.

Esteban and Santi dine on pizza. Esteban wonders if Santi is overdoing it with Isa. Santi doesn’t think so. He can’t give Isa everything. He needs the money from the sale of the house to help provide for his daugther, niece and nephew. Santi hopes that this will finally force Isa to react.

Isa cries at the dinner table Rocio asks her not to get all depressed. Isa knows she hasn’t been the best wife and mother. Isa was hoping to forget all that tonight. She tells them to enjoy the dinner. She doesn’t want to ruin it.

Esteban recognizes that his friend needs a radical change in his life and he will support him in it. All Santi can do is hope that Puchis takes this latest act well and doesn’t hit him.

Isa hugs the kids and cries. She whines again about not being a good wife and mother. She leaves the dining room.

Fac loves the idea of he and Maria getting way. They can play house and do homework! Maria reminds Fac that there are still lots of things they need to talk about, but she’s looking forward to the trip, too. He calls Luchano to make sure the cabin is ready. There’s no signal in the house. He leaves to go outside.

Isa sets up her fake suicide. She pours pills into the sink and mutters that Santi will not leave her in the street. She throws pills around and starts moaning about not wanting to live. She hopes Ale and her sobrinos don’t get too scared. The next morning Ale comes running into the dining room. “Something is wrong with mom!” Feli and Rocio follow her.

Isa is on the bed. Rocio and Feli tend to her. She mumbles about wanting to relax. Feli gets Ale out of the room. She’s really freaking out. It breaks my heart. Rocio calls Santi. Isa sits up for a moment and then flops back down. Faker.

Back in SBeC the Amarripa boys are surprised Franklin woke up after his night of drinking. Franklin has a terrible headache. They have a great remedy. They convince him to go do something. Whatever word they used meant “turtle” to Franklin. They laugh at him and tell him they have to get used to their region. AH! caguama is Mexican slang for a 40 oz beer. Thank you wordreference.

Tuesday 7/28 Parte 3
Santi, Esteban and the kids wait at the hospital. Beto arrives to support Rocio. Santi doesn’t understand how this happened. Isa had been warned about drinking and taking pills Ale informs him that Isa wasn’t drinking. Esteban thinks Isa may have done it on purpose. The doctora comes out and she’s a little surprised. Isa had a low level of the drugs in her system. Rocio suggests Isa was faking it. The doctora thinks this may be a cry for help.

Porfirio notices that Conchita is not herself. Conchita is really sad and worried about Isabel. I’m glad the family isn’t being mean to her now. Estefy says there’s probably nothing wrong with Isa. Estefy just thinks the peroxide has gone to Isa’s brain.

Perpetua reports that Beto called and Isa is fine. Fac wonders if Isa’s emergency had anything to do do with him(?) Maria thinks Isa is sick in her soul and Fac doesn’t need to feel guilty. Maria thinks it just proves that Isa likes to call attention to herself. Porfirio pipes up with “Oh she can call attention to herself!” and an implied “hubba hubba!” Even the blind will turn around to look at her.

Isa moans and asks about her blood pressure. It’s fine. She refuses the shot for dizziness. She tells the doctor she feels fine and doesn’t need the shot. The doctor relents. Isa is bummed to find out they don’t have any movies for her to watch.

Carmen is confused by the green screen at the photo shoot. Diego explains that the will photoshop their image onto a tropical background. The photo shoot starts and Carmen stats voguing. But that’s not what the photog wants. He wants Diego and Carmen to act like a couple in love. Diego tells her to relax. She does finally seem to relax. They are really cute together. I sure wish these two could get together.

Santi brings Isa a stuffed toy and flowers. If she had died, he would have died too. He’s never going to leave her again and he won’t sell her house. He just wants to return home and take care of his wife. They decide to make up and he snuggles with her on the bed until a nurse comes and throws him out. Isa thanks the Virgencita for helping her keep her family. Isa sighs that she wants a family like the Carmonas.

Mireya wants to know why Santi is getting back with Isa. She didn’t really take the pills! Why is he throwing away all his plans of independence. Isa is his wife and the mother of this daughter. He’s not going to leave her. He thinks maybe Isa changed. Mireya suggests they continue to keep Isa unstable. Santi nixes the idea. No more damaging pills.

Fac and Maria tell the family that they are going off to Luchano’s cabin. Porfirio will have to stay home. Estefany thinks its a great that they are getting away, rekindling their love, healing wounds and being novios again. They all laugh at her insistence that she’s a señorita. Fac puts Beto in charge. He then announced that when he and Maria return they will not be fighting anymore! Yay! Estefany thought bubbles evily. She’s going to keep making the Carmonas trust her and then take everything from them!

Well, drat. I forgot to label Part 2. I'm sorry. :-(

Sara- Super recap, amiga!

I'm surprised everyone wasn't more ticked off that Isa faked the suicide attempt. How could she do that to poor Ale? That's the main thing I'm ticked about.

Sounds like Maria and Fac are very excited for their romantic trip to the mountains. Maria had to remind Fac though that they also had to talk while they're there, among other things...

Don't like Stefi teaching the kids how to blackmail each other. This is a bad deal for Carmen, since it's not like she'll be able to prevent Fac from seeing the ad campaign once it's out. I too thought she and Diego looked cute together once she relaxed into the the poses.

Sara, your most excellent recap was very needed because last night I was not watching very carefully. Thank you for the entertainment this a.m. Also, thank you in advance for the header this p.m. I am ready to roll!

Vivi, I so agree about Estefany not being a good influence. I am far from conservative, but it was like she was corrupting Susana.

I liked Facundo and his knitting. Made me smile.

Two good ideas from Perpétua: Not mettling in María's marriage and suggesting the getaway.

I have had way too much of Isabel. Period. Full stop. Punto final.

So, the investigator's name is Franklin. I cannot wait to find out who is his employer.

EY fans, never fear I will do my best to describe whatever happens at María and Facundo's mountain getaway tonight and tomorrow. : )

Jarifa

One more thing,

I thought Carmen's bikini was totally in good taste.

Jarifa

Thanks, Vivi and Jarifa.

I don't like Estefy teaching Susana how to be deceitful. Hate it, hate it hate it.

I also don't have a problem with either bikini I've seen Carmen in. Compared to some I've seen they provided quite a bit of coverage. But definitely not enough for Fac's taste.

I'll have your header ready Jarifa. I'm looking forward to Maria and Fac's getaway as well.

Have they ever mentioned Fac's mother's name? I'm assuming the woman who hired Franklin is Fac's mom.

Oops!

The previews made it look like Florencio and Estefy might team up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they bring out the GOOD in each other.

I'm thinking it's Fac's mom too. Porfirio was writing an M in the ground the other day, and the lady who hired 're PI is named Martina.

I had to laugh last night at the gloves. Whoever the actress is must have recognizable hands. Lol!

Nah. They are probably trying to keep the age of the person a secret, too.

It will be interesting finding out what hapoened how she ended up in her "beloved" Italy.

Jarifa

Hang on a minute. I need a refresher course. We have two mystery people don't we? One in Italy and one in a tropical island? I didn't actually see the episode. I'm trying to remember from recaps.

You are right! I got my mystery women mixed up!

Jarifa

Lol! I just went back and read your recap. OK. Two separate mystery women. I'm assuming the Italian mystery woman has something to do with Isa (based on her last name.)

That would make sense. Anyway, I am enjoying that part of the plot.

Jarifa

I think Italian mystery lady is Isa's mom, since its been mentioned a few times that she basically abandoned Isa and went off to Italy. So likely both Fac and Isa are about to have their long gone mamas pop up in their lives.

Awesome Sara, simply awesome. Great fun and detailed to perfection.

Sara, while it’s wholeheartedly true I thoroughly enjoy your explanations of the night’s events, it’s your shrewd comments on the actors that I love: “Big Ed even looks like maybe he’s actually learned to cast on at some point in his life and he’s just forgotten. I digress”. I am impressed. Totally.

When I start to consider Isa a rather buffoonish character, I have to pull myself back and remember that she is the guardian, the parent, the caretaker of three children. And there are times when she has failed miserably, especially in her current state, even by her own admission. “Rocio asks if Isa poisoned them. Is that why Isa called it the last supper” was troubling. I don’t believe she really felt that, but it was upsetting nevertheless. The fake suicide attempt infuriated me. How dare she do that to her family - especially Ale! She never intended to come close to taking her life and this pathetic attempt was simply terrible to watch. I did smile at “Estefy says there’s probably nothing wrong with Isa. Estefy just thinks the peroxide has gone to Isa’s brain”. Too bad Santi fell for it. Isa will be disgruntled and unhappy by tonight’s episode I’m sure as it’s just not in her nature to be happy and appreciative.

Sara, I’m praying for a miracle for Estefy. Could she and Florencio make a love match and forget their dastardly plans??? Here’s hoping.

Vivi, I thought the gloved hands were Facundo’s mother as well. I am really looking forward to seeing who it is!

“EY fans, never fear I will do my best to describe whatever happens at María and Facundo's mountain getaway tonight and tomorrow. : )” Ahh Jarifa,..I am fully certain you will and am eagerly looking forward to it!!

Diana

Sara, fab recap. I really like the Florencio-Panzon scenes and I'm always interested in what they're eating, so thanks for the details. And adding to my vocab -- can't wait to use caguama.

I must say I am impressed by Fac's knitting attempt. I'm hardly an expert but he looked more authentic as a beginner than many characters I've scene on TV. It would've been sweet if Maria had caught him doing this, but anyhoo.

I too am disturbed by Estefany injecting herself between Susanna and Carmen. Not cool at all.

I was afraid a few days ago that poor Carmen would wind up in a thong, but both her bathing suits are Gidget-wear. My guess is it will be the huggy posing with Diego that will take Fac over the edge. Feli was so cute feeling foolish (as he should!) getting on Carmen's case about something he can't even explain.

ITA the Porfirio mystery woman is probably Fac's mom. Wow, she sure took a l--o--n--g time, waiting until Porfirio was 90 to look him up.

Poor Ale. It's a good thing for her sake that Santi's moving back in, but I'm still not feeling that Isa loves him.

"I was afraid a few days ago that poor Carmen would wind up in a thong, but both her bathing suits are Gidget-wear". Excellent.

Niecie, I just laughed out loud. Thank you...

Diana

Thank you Diana and Niecie!

Though I am not a bikini wearer, I have liked Carmen's. They are indeed very Gidget. I really liked Carmen's hairdo at the shoot. I know that the "up" part was her usual, but I liked that the rest was "down." She and Diego are a love match I can't let go of.

I would love for Florencio and Estefy to be a love match as well. Honestly, I think Estefy has played with my emotions more than any character.

Vivi-Thanks for the memory jog with Isa's mom. I thought I had remembered something to that effect, but I always doubt my memories.

I also like the scenes with Panzon and Florencio. And I enjoy the scenes with Esteban and Santi too, even though Esteban is a double crossing snake. There are quite a few goofy pairings in this tn that make me smile every time. The three ratero cousins are also fun, and I think they will show the PI a good time, even as they work hard to keep him from learning anything about Porfirio.

I so agree that Florencio and Estefany would be a great match. Estefany is looking for a man with money so her needs would be met quite pleasantly and now being turned down by María again, Florencio might finally be ready to look elsewhere for love.

Isabel and Facundo are so similar which has been mentioned before. Besides their need to be the center of attention and in control of everything, the writers will make them even more similar now with both of their mothers returning. Interesting.

OT: Sara, my hat is off to you as a knitter. Facundo's efforts made me smile because I have never successfully made it past the "scarf" stage in knitting. I do enjoy making those, though.

Jarifa

Oh goodness Jarifa! Hats off to you for scarf knitting!

I love making dishcloths and socks. In other words, small items I can finish quickly!

I never thought about dishcloths. Thanks for the idea.

Jarifa

Florencio is pretty sweet (though foolish). He's been upfront with everybody about his intent to get Maria back. While Estefany, of course, is underhanded. I'm wondering if Estefany even gave her fake maid accomplice an alert that she ratted her out. Anyway, I hope Florencio can help Estefany find that inner goodness she claimed to have a while back, before she tried to jump Fac in the pool and is now siccing Susana on Carmen.

Thanks Sara for two excellent recaps this week.

Am I the only one who's first thought was disappointment in Susana?

Is "Puchis" a Mexican nickname or is it from "Puccini"?

Hate Isa for upsetting her daughter like that. She's the most selfish creature on the planet and if what the doctor said was true about not having very much of the drugs in her system, she can't use the drugs as an excuse.

Fac looked like he was trying to cast onto two needles at once.

Love Rocio's laugh and loved seeing she was wearing Beto's ring.

Nanette

Nanette - I wished that Susana had at least looked taken aback by Estefany's proposal. But there's a big enough age gap between the two sisters where I can see why Susana thinks tormenting Carmen is okay. From my own experience, little sisters and brothers think it's okay since bigger sisters and brothers have a lot more freedom than they do. Since this is a comedy, hopefully Susana won't get out of hand.

Nanette- An internet search for puchis doesn't yield much. It does appear to be a nickname that pops up quite a bit. But its only urban dictionary definition is the Guatemalan slang for wow! I did find a Twitter page called Zona Puchis, which is mainly in Spanish, and features pictures of cute/sexy short women-- chapitas. That does fit Isa.

I'm listening to NPR as usual as I work, and they are right now doing a story on an animal trainer who trains animals for tv/movies. It made me think of this show. But this line horrified me about how animals used to be treated on sets:

"[Y]ears before, if they used to do a film and the horses were running and they needed them to fall, they'd put a cable there and trip them and simply have them fall. And horses broke their legs, they broke their necks and what have you, but it was just a horse — in their thinking, it's just a piece of livestock. ... None of that is acceptable anymore. Now they train horses to fall. It's beautiful. They train horses to fall and the ground is soft and they have it padded and we know exactly where and when it's going to happen and nobody is going to get hurt."

Yikes! I will never look old films where they have animal stunts the same way. Here's the full story on NPR for those interested: http://www.npr.org/2015/07/29/427210264/a-hollywood-animal-trainers-secrets-for-getting-dogs-to-act-on-cue

Nanette and Niecie-I was also a little taken aback that Susana was listening to Estefy. As a younger sister, I am not bothered that Susana wants to take advantage of the situation ;-) But because Estefy is involved I can't be sure if it's just pure sibling rivalry OR if Estefy is corrupting her. And I don't like the idea of sweet Susana being corrupted.

Puchis-I've been wondering about this nickname from the beginning. I also thought it was derived from Puccini when I heard it. But if Vivi found that it can also be a term for short cuties, maybe that's what it is. Whatever the reason, the way Ernesto says "Puchis" is funny.

Vivi-That is so sad!!!! I don't want to watch old movies with animals anymore. :-(

Casting on on 2 needles-Sometimes beginners are encouraged to cast on on 2 needles and remove the 2nd one before they start knitting. Beginners tend to cast on tightly and then can't get a needle in to make the stitch. That Fac was casting on on 2 needles made it more believable to me.

Thanks, Vivi, for the Puchis info. I love the movie Stagecoach (1939) until I found out John Ford used those methods during the climatic chase scene. I will never be able to watch that movie again and I despise John Ford.

I get the whole reasoning with regards to Susana, and it's probably unreasonable, but I just can't give her a pass for blackmailing Carmen for half her money.

Sara: you're the knitting expert. I thought it was kind of cute and funny.

But, but... Margarito has expensive psychologist bills! ;-)

It was cute and funny. He looked just like an earnest kindergartner to me :-)

It was nice seeing Fac taking a quiet moment to sit, knit, and hopefully think.

Margarito is awfully spoiled.

Knitting is very good for thinking.

Susana never should have started giving in to Margarito in the first place. Things have gotten out of hand now and Susana has to resort to blackmail to care for Margarito.

Jarifa-I forgot to say early to be careful with dishcloths. I find them very addicting because it's instant knitting gratification and the next thing you know you have 50 dishcloths. It's like tribbles.

Tribbles! Thanks for the warning. Nice use of bits and pieces from other projects though. I will have to look to see what I have.

Jarifa

Here's like the most basic dishcloth pattern ever that I can do without looking. Perfect for TV watching.

Thanks. I will give it a look.
