Lo Imperdonable #38 Wed 7/8/15 "Arguments and Fistfights Abound....And V-Snake Barely Sets Foot in Town to Wreak More Havoc"
(some scenes are combined)
Lo viejo: Dr. Feelgood drops off Emi at the San Telmo hovel. Veronica tells him he can go. She can handle Emi and will just have to wake him up with a cup of coffee or a bucket of water. (Now why didn't she go with this Plan A, instead of trying to lug a drunken deadweight twice her size off the bed?)
Lo nuevo: Martin arrives home and notices the romantic candlelit dinner awaiting him on the table. He heads to the bedroom with a wicked smile that quickly turns to a look of rage. He picks up and punches Emi, who conveniently lands in a chair and continues sleeping. Vero tries to explain, but Martin is enraged and screaming right in her face, saying: "The whole world warned me." She asks what he is talking about. He continues: "I'm an imbecile and you are a......" She screams at him to shut up and not say something he'll be sorry about later. As he goes berserk, he accidentally head butts her squarely on her nose. (And that was clearly NOT in the script, because it was a REAL head butt. Poor Ana Brenda deserves combat pay for this scene.)
Claudia and Pierre chat about making improvements to her on-stage wardrobe. He is all for it, especially "if it lets us see a bit more," he says as he ogles her. Then he claims he meant wardrobe that gives her more freedom of movement and allows them to see a bit more of her dancing. He goes to talk to Bedel about it. Dr. Feelgood shows up and informs Claudia that he did as she requested. She hopes he didn't tell Vero that it was her idea. No, but now he expects his reward, which Claudia promises he will get. Manuel shows up and doesn't like seeing Dr. Feelgood so close and comfortable with Claudia, so he reminds him it's time for him to "abandon my territory and my affairs (asuntos)." Pierre shows up and tries to prevent a scuffle. But too late. Dr. Feelgood says he is not impressed by Manuel's bravado and warns him he grew up in a rough barrio and Manuel will be on the losing end if they get into a fist fight. They go at it immediately. (And I must say Dr. Feelgood looks even sexier now.) Pierre yells out: "Bedel, Purgatory has turned into Hell!!!" The slugfest continues until both Bedel and father Juan show up and break up the fight. Claudia thanks the priest. He tells her he hopes she realizes her "beauty and talent" (excuse me while I have a hearty laugh) can drive men crazy and suggests she set appropriate limits, whatever that means. (Much later, we get another exciting - zzzzzzzz - performance from Claudia, as Manuel ogles her and Dr. Feelgood ices his own bruised face.)
As NanC spies on them from the back entrance, Vero is in the living room with Martin, trying to explain to him that nothing happened. He refuses to believe her. She is indignant and demands to know what he was told about her. He tells her to ask her cousin. Then he screams that he is an imbecile for thinking that she would change, grabs her, and demands to know why she is doing this to him. Emi comes out of the bedroom and yells at him to let go of her. Martin insults Vero again and Emi tells him to shut up. Martin asks him if he plans to pull out his weapon again. Vero is shocked and asks Emi if he brought his gun with him to Mina Escondida.....Emi claims he brought the gun because he knew what awaited there and only pulled it out to save Martin from a snake's bite, but now he wishes he had let the snake do it. Vero tells him not to say that, but Martin tells her he doesn't need her to defend him and accuses Emi of taking advantage of the fact that he was away to come seduce his wife. They are about to have their own slugfest, but Vero manages to separate them. Emi refuses to leave her alone with Martin in his aggressive state. Vero agrees and tells Martin that he first has to listen to both of them. Martin says what he saw was enough and he is "so disappointed." (NanC now runs out.) Martin adds: "Every time we are fine, you do something to ruin it" and then he runs out in the same direction NanC went. Vero tries to run after him, but Emi stops her. He will not allow her to go begging after him, and it is best if she waits until Martin calms down. Vero blurts out that jealousy made Martin that way ever since they got married, but she doesn't understand what he was talking about and wants to know what people said to him about her. She then asks Emi if it has to do with what HE said about her at her engagement party....Emi tells Vero he will always lament the scandal he caused at the party. She reproaches him for putting her marriage at risk with his drunkenness.
Pablo chats with Ana Perla through her barred window. He promises he will confront anything so she can be his wife. She also wants to be his wife but says they must be patient and convince her grandfather. Poor Julio stands nearby watching and gets sad when he hears her say that. (Julio, you deserve a better girl.) Pablo then suggests to Ana Perla that they run off together....Ana Perla doesn't like that idea, even if they get married right away. She loves her grandfather and owes him respect, plus he is sick. She says it's best to follow Julio's advice and take things slowly. She begs Pablo to promise not to do anything crazy and he reluctantly agrees....Pablo doesn't see Crescencio giving in, but Ana Perla has faith. Julio interrupts them and warns them people are walking by. Before leaving, Pablo swears he will not let Crescencio marry her off to another man. He thanks Julio for his help and leaves. Then Ana Perla tells Julio that he is the best friend and man in the world, and she hopes the girl he likes will notice him one day. When she closes her window, he says to himself: "I hope so, but that is never going to happen." (And the ladies of the Patio collectively sigh for him.)
NanC follows Martin. He tells her he wants to be alone. She says she only wants to help, but she only makes things worse by saying that Emi told her he is Vero's cousin "but cousins don't do what they did." Martin grabs her chin (ouch!!!) and demands to know what they did. "They hug each other, they look at each other and do things that cousins shouldn't....." He cuts her off, screaming "Shut up!!! Shut up!!!" Then he curses both Emi and Vero.....Martin tries to run back to kill Emi, but NanC stops him because she won't let him stain his hands with blood. She adds that they will get their punishment on their own. He calms down and walks away from her.
Blanquita and Polo try to console Raymunda, who is crying because she had never had such a bad fight with her husband. She feels like she is being pulled between her husband and her father, and she doesn't know what to do. She whines that she doesn't want her family to break up. Polo consoles her and promises they will behave so grandpa won't get upset anymore.
Emi tries to go look for Martin, but Vero refuses to let him go. She already prepared the guest room and insists he stay in it. He asks if it doesn't worry her what Martin thinks. "I don't give a damn (me vale) what Martin thinks," she says bluntly, then reminds him where his room is and heads over to her own.
Martin is in the middle of the dark woods, torturing himself with flashbacks, first a flashback of drunken Emi at the engagement party toasting that Martin "doesn't care that his fiancee is a ____" and later telling him that Veronica is like Salome, seductive and treacherous; then a repeat flashback of the image of Emi on top of Vero on their bed.
Ana Perla hugs Crescencio and tells him no matter what happens he will always be her grandpa and she loves him very much. She wishes him well on his trip and encourages him to get all medical tests needed. He is suspicious of her over-affectionate behavior. She says that her aunt Raymunda told her about his sister and she is really sorry about what happened to her. That's why she doesn't want to fail him now. He's glad her aunt told her and hopes it's a lesson that will teach her to stop being a rebel. When he leaves, she pulls out her box of treasures, reads a letter from Pablo, and tells herself this love is real.
Martin goes to see Padre Juan and asks if he can spend the night there with him. Padre Juan asks what happened and why he is not with his wife. "That woman is NOT my wife. She finally took off her mask and let me see the woman responsible for my brother's death." (Quick cut to Vero crying on her bed and asking herself why Martin can't believe her.) Martin tells Padre Juan how he found her and Emi on the bed. He says she still has the nerve to deny it, and he can't handle it and doesn't know what to do. Padre Juan can't believe Vero would betray him with her cousin in their own home, and tells Martin his obsession about Vero may be making him see something that is not real. "No, I'm sure of it. I already know what she is like, and her own uncle warned me, even Emiliano did too." Now he understands why his brother took his own life. Padre Juan suggests Martin think about how much he loves his wife and whether he is willing to give her up without first listening to her.
Mariana shows up unannounced at the Padro-Castelo mansion and informs Emi's parents that he took off to Mina Escondida and that Virginia went after him to bring him back. Meanwhile, Virginia shows up in Pierre's hotel and requests a room from Teo. Pierre comes over and introduces himself. She says she needs a room, but he is sorry to inform her that there are no vacancies. She bitches about not seeing a "no vacancies" sign, then mentions her cousin Emi is lodged there. Teo checks and confirms this, then breaks Pierre's discretion rule and blurts out that Emi did not return last night.
Back at the hovel, Vero scolds Emi about his drinking and reminds him that he is no longer a child. (Then why, oh why, do people keep calling him one, I ask myself, and I'm sure Emi asks himself too.) "I hope you realize the problem you caused me with Martin, precisely now that everything between us was finally getting fixed." Emi asks if it's true then that she had problems with him, but she claims that they just went through "newlywed adjustments". (Yes, because we all know that all newlywed husbands leave their new wives all hot and bothered several times without consummating the marriage, then repeatedly call them whores.) But she assures them they are now very happy and in love. Emi doubts that jerk truly loves her, after seeing how disrespectfully he treated her last night and the living conditions he put her in. Vero claims the living situation is temporary. And it's true Martin was blinded by jealousy and was very rude to her, but he was also partly right, because Emi is the one guy he is jealous of and he did find them together in his bed. (True that.)
(End of Part 1)
Part 2
V-Snake begs Pierre to at least let her in Emi's room to rest. Pierre can't do it because it would violate Emi's privacy. She pulls out her "heart ailment" card and says she MUST rest.
Vero tells Emi that no matter how, they must make Martin understand that nothing happened. Emi will not let her beg Martin to believe her. He insists only he can make her happy because he never cared about what she might have done in her past. (Really, Emi? That's not what we in the Patio recall.) She is rightly offended by what he is suggesting and asks if that's why he used to say she had a thing with Demetrio Silveira. She doesn't know who the hell convinced him that she was with Demetrio, and who knows how many others, but she swears it's not true. Emi insists he needs no explanation from her because it would be "imperdonable" for him to be incapable of forgiving her. (How noble of him.) Martin doesn't deserve her, and she should leave him and go back to Mexico City with him.
Martin and Botel walk through town. Botel is glad the filter is finally up and running. Martin agrees the decontamination process is on the upswing and just hopes no setbacks occur. Botel agrees, which is why it surprised him that Martin went to the mine so early that morning. Martin confesses he didn't sleep much due to a problem with Vero. Botel guesses that it involves Emi and advises Martin to talk to Vero and clear things up before they leave for Mexico. Martin says it's not something that can be done in five minutes, and besides he doesn't want to leave her there with Emi nearby.....Botel suggests that he and Crescencio can go to Mexico City ahead of Martin. He will explain to the government mining office that Martin stayed behind to supervise the decontamination work but will go there too before the established deadline. Martin agrees and thanks him, telling him he will speak with Vero. Botel reminds him that love and money can't be hidden and that everyone can see that Vero loves him.
Vero looks anxiously out a window, clearly awaiting Martin's return. Emi is disappointed and wonders where is the independent and strong woman she used to be. Now she just does what Martin wants and he will end up destroying her. She says it's not what Martin wants, but what she wants. She begs him to understand once and for all that she loves Martin. Plus, she understands Martin's reaction when he saw Emi on top of her in his own bed. If she had seen him with another woman in the same way, SHE would have killed them both.....Vero insists she will not let her marriage be ruined by a misunderstanding and if Emi doesn't like that, well, tough cookies. She's grateful for his good intentions, but her marriage comes before all else, including their friendship. He complains that he can't change without her. Well, you'll have to learn, she tells him, then orders him to leave her home because he has nothing left to do there.
Jorge thinks his son went nuts. Salma, as usual, blames it on Vero. Jorge tries to shut her up and reminds her that Vero wasn't even with him, but she insists it's ALWAYS Vero's fault. Jorge now confronts Mariana and tells her he doesn't get how Emi went first to Cancun and then to Mina Escondida. She swears it wasn't V-Snake's fault. Emi suddenly escaped and she went after him as soon as she noticed. Jorge chastises her for not "calling" them as soon as it happened, waiting instead until now to tell them in person. Mariana freezes. (She should just tell him she had a momentary lapse of memory and thought SHE was in Mina Escondida with no access to phones.)
Pierre gives a hand fan to V-Snake, who gladly accepts it because she needs it to deal with the stifling heat. (Someone should tell her she would cool down faster if she just took off the girly sweater she is wearing over her dress.) Pierre again apologizes for not allowing her in Emi's room, but rules are rules. She insists they are cousins and doesn't feel well. Lucky for her, Dr. Feelgood shows up, and no doubt he will do whatever it takes to make her, well, "feel good". He clearly expects to feel good too, because he is grinning from ear to ear as he offers the perfect solution: She can stay in HIS room...to rest, of course. "Fantastique!!!" declares Pierre, but laments that she has problems with her "motor of love," pointing at his own heart. (No worries, Pierre, I'm sure the good doctor plans to give her motor a fine tune-up in his room, with his first-rate concierge services in bed.)....Dr. Feelgood heads to his room, but Pierre asks Virginia to wait a moment and "register" - hotel rules again.
Botel tells Malena he will miss her very much. He suggests she keep herself busy so she won't think about sad things. He reminds her that Daniel has her medication and suggests that she seek Vero and Martin's support when she doesn't feel well. She's surprised that Martin won't be going with him. He tells her Martin had a serious argument with Vero and will catch up with him and Crescencio once he has fixed things with Vero. Malena plans to speak later with Vero about it. Finally, she reminds Botel to ask the P.I. in Mexico City if he has found out yet how her daughter died.
Pablo knocks on the front door of Crescencio's home. Julio comes out and pulls him aside, demanding to know why he is there. Wasn't it enough that he almost got Ana Perla in trouble last night? Pablo reveals that he is not there to see Ana Perla. He is there to see Crescencio, to face up to him. (A staring match ensues between them.)....Julio will not let Pablo get Ana Perla in more trouble. Pablo insists that's why he is there and will not leave until he has spoken with Crescencio. Julio then informs him that he'll have to go look for him at Pierre's hotel, where he is waiting for Botel and Martin to journey with them to Mexico City.
NanC tells Vero that Martin was very angry last night and blames her and her blonde cousin. Vero is not in the mood for her comments and asks if she knows where Martin is. NanC says no, but if she knew she still wouldn't tell her. She reminds Vero that she promised to be nice to her if she was nice to her patron, but all she does is make him suffer. Vero is understandably enraged and yells at her that it was a misunderstanding. Malena walks in and asks why so much anger. NanC declares that "the black butterfly went away but left behind her powder of tragedy," then leaves without saying another word. Vero is ready to lose her marbles and tells Malena that she is "sick and tired" (harta) of everything, her husband, NanC, her cousin, that house, everything. Malena tries to calm her down. Vero is anxious to find Martin before he leaves to give him some letters to take to her family. Malena tells her not to worry because Martin will not leave without first speaking with her. She offers to give the letters to Botel so he can take them to her family. Then she tries to reassure her that she can resolve things with Martin. Vero is not so sure and says perhaps it would be best to break up forever with him. She leans forward and cradles her head on Malena's lap and remains there as Malena caresses her hair.
As V-Snake waits to register a few feet away from them, Crescencio complains that Botel is late. Manuel reminds him all outsiders are that way. Crescencio warns him that Julio and Tomasina will help him with Ana Perla and he better not hear later that he went overboard in dealing with his sister. (Which pretty much guarantees that he WILL go overboard.) He already heard about his fight the night before with Daniel. Manuel whines that it was Daniel's fault because he seems to think he can have all women to himself and that just won't do. Crescencio then warns him to stay away from Claudia, who is not the woman for him. Manuel agrees that Claudia is just "a good time" (puro vacilon). He wants a decent and educated girl to marry, but it's too bad those girls don't just "grow on trees" (no se dan de maceta). At that moment they both notice V-Snake. Pierre comes in and introduces Crescencio to her as "the lord and master" of Pueblo Nuevo. Surprisingly, she offers her hand in greeting to Crescencio. Manuel is smitten and rushes up to shake her hand too. Then Pierre introduces her as Madame San Telmo's cousin. Crescencio declares "what a difference!!" and notes he can tell that V-Snake IS a "decent lady".....V-Snake agrees that she and Vero are very different. Crescencio complains that Vero is always exposing too much flesh ("anda en cueros") or dressed like a man. "But you look like the living image of purity and good habits." (Waaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!) When V-Snake leaves, Crescencio tells Manuel in an excited tone that V-Snake is the kind of woman he wants for him, "demure, pretty, refined, and educated." No complaints from Manuel.
Salma is worried about V-Snake's health. Jorge dismisses her worries. V-Snake can take care of herself just fine. Salma insists that V-Snake must really love their son if she was so willing to risk her own health by making the treacherous journey to the jungle. Jorge notes that "her adorable doctor" will be there to care for her. (And how!!!) He asks Matilde to call their errand-boy Nicolas and summon him to their house. After they say goodbye to Mariana, Salma asks what they will do. Jorge informs her that, if necessary, HE will go get Emi himself.
Malena brings Vero a glass of water and insists that she remain calm. She doesn't think a break up is what Vero truly wants. She asks Vero to explain what happened. After Vero explains, Malena is sure that she will be able to speak with Martin and explain it to him too. But Vero says that's the problem, that he won't even listen to her. He is blinded by his jealousy.
Crescencio and Manuel are still waiting, now sitting in the hotel's restaurant. Crescencio gives final instructions to Manuel, warning him not to strip Joaquin of any authority at the mine. Pablo shows up running, breathless. Crescencio angrily reminds him that he warned him he didn't want to see him again. Pablo stands firm and requests Crescencio's permission to court Ana Perla. Cara impactada de Crescencio.
Martin and Emi run into each other by the river. Martin demands that Emi leave town and stay away from Vero forever. Another staring match ensues.
Preview: V-Snake is with Vero in the hovel's living room. NanC comes in, sees V-Snake, freaks out, and calls her "la mala mujer...del otro patron" - the other patron's bad woman. Both Vs ask NanC what she is talking about.
Labels: imperdonable
Looks like Dr. Feelgood can hold his own against bad guy Manuel. Will Pablo be able to do the same? He may have to at some point in the future. I mean, wait until Manuel catches Ana Perla and Pablo together. A fight for sure will unsure.
Martin is a real hot head, he won't even let Vero give her side of the story. Nanciyaga sure isn't helping any either with her remark that cousins shouldn't be hugging. Everything is just reinforcing Marty's false beliefs of Veronica. It doesn't look like there will be much happiness for Vero in the near future anyway.
Now that V-Snake is in town---things can only get worse.
Pierre is doing great business lately with a full house. Are there that many tourists coming to Pueblo Nuevo or is it just a very small hotel? You guys decide.

Part 2 is now up. I'm so busy packing that I considered doing a bullet-point recap of the whole thing. But, I must say I felt I should go with my usual detailed recap because I love all the crazy or funny dialogue and situations in this novela, and especially in this pivotal episode.
Now, all together: SHUT-UP NANCYAGA!!!!!!!
She's makeing it worse.
Cousins may not hug like that where she is but we do. Now we don't look at each other like Emi looked at her, but we hug. She was just glad to see her cousin, thats it, nancy.
This man is already crazy, she pushed him over the edge with what she said.
this woman is getting on my last nerve.
Boy I liked Pierre in the beginning when he was putting the old goat in his place, but now he is just coming off like a total lech!
I can’t figure out the role of NanC. Is she supposed to be a good guy or bad? I’m starting to feel she deserves an anvil for getting involved in everything—halfway—and only knowing everything halfway.
There were so many funny lines, but I especially liked this one: No worries, Pierre, I'm sure the good doctor plans to give her motor a fine tune-up in his room, with his first-rate concierge services in bed.)....
WHAT?! Crescencio is fine with Manuel gong for a “fuerena” but not a chance that his granddaughter might have a “fuereno?” Male chauvinist old goat!
I’m SO glad you cleared up the last line of the epi. I thought Martin told Emi he wanted Emi to leave WITH Vero forever. Couldn’t quite figure that one out!
Again, Thanks for a fabulous recap!
Rebecca
hahaha! It turns out that they don't take Heart Ailment Cards at Les Oliviers!
You're right, Latina – there were so many funny lines and situations in this one. I'm grateful you gave it the full treatment. Thanks so much for this splendid, detailed recap.
Rebecca, I think Nanciyaga is basically a good guy, but her jealousy and possessiveness lead her to misbehave sometimes or misinterpret what she sees.
Whoa, Veronica needs to get away from both those testosterone laden manboys. How in the world she escaped with her arms with them grabbing and jerking and poor Nanci, Martin going for the neck and jaw. Cannot Magdalena see both these guys are abusers and talk Veronica into leaving? I don't fault Nanci, she speaks what she sees and if it is uncomfortable, too bad, she happens to be right. She was told Emiliano was Veronica's cousin and Veronica was up in his face all giddy like.
Eli, I thought the same about our good Padre. Now I understand why he accepted Martin's view of Veronica and gave little resistance. He believes, along with nearly every guy in this thing, including Martin, women are nothing more than shameless hussies.
The old goat is down with Virginia for Manuel, hehehe
I admit that I ffwd through much of this episode. I usually don't do that, but I just couldn't take all the screeching and posturing from Martin and Emi, and Vero's pleading. I'm also kind of bored to tears with Pablo and AP.
I was highly amused by Creepansio's infatuation with Virginia. I guess a long dress, a sweater, and a fan are all a gal needs to convince Creep that you are a virtuous and worthy woman.
A lot of you out on the patio don't care for Ana Perla y Pablo but you have to give the guy some credit. He's walked into the bears den twice now--he's trying.
Pierre thinks that the good doctor can give V-Snake's motor a fine tune-up. If he only knew.
So Crescencio thinks that V-Snake would be a great catch for Manuel. Ha Ha Ha.
Tonight---La Mala Mujer! WOW!! Talking about must see tv.
the gringo
SHUT UP NANCYAGA! What the heck is her problem? OMG, she really did make things worse, and I don't know what she was talking about. The only thing I remember seeing was Emi getting to the hovel and Vero hugging him with a smile on her face. Nancyaga told Marty that they hugged and did things that cousins don't do. Que? WTH? What did they do that "cousins don't do"? She is driving me nuts. Did she say that to break up Vero and Marty? I know she is super jealous.
Emi is driving me nuts too. His drinking is out of control and I hated the way he started throwing things around at Vero's house in the previous episode. Who does he think he is, going into someone's house and throwing stuff around? I can only imagine Vero's frustration, trying to help Emi to the other bed and then having his dead drunken weight fall on you. GET OFF ME!
STOP SINGING CLAUDIA! I just FF through those scenes.
Hasta Pronto...
So now we know why we have endured Nanci Yaya all this time. She is the one who is going to let the Big Secret out. Then the excrement will hit the atmoispheric evacuator.
To borrow a phrase from Don Gringo: Must see TV.
Claudia somehow brought back memories of Ninel Conde, the Bombon Asesina in FELS (also known in our household as the Boobala). I guess Claudia is our new version of the bombshell performer.
This episode seemed to have a major overload of posturing macho men, as well as guys drooling over Claudia. Gramps falling for that perfect lady, Virginia, was hilarious. She could make quick work of Manuel--I say pair them up and see what happens.
Marty needs to be evaluated by a neurologist to see why his brain shuts down completely with no apparent cause. I'd like to see Nanci in the same room with Vero, VSnake, and Marty, ready to share what she knows about those evil mujeres blancas.
Pablo gets this week's brave but dumb award. And Julio gets the medal for most hopeless hottie.
Martin's jealousy is becoming an issue! Thanks again LatinaInMD!!!!!!
I agree that there were a lot of good lines in this episode.
Enjoyed Daniel an Manuel's fight at the bar. Also loved Pierre's "the purgatory is turning into a hell" line. But Pierre's a coward, no? Three times Claudia told him to do something to stop the fight and all he could do is call for Medel. To me it seemed, that Manuel won the fight. At the end, only Daniel was putting ice on his bruises. So much for growing up in a tough neighborhood.
I laughed when Crescencio took a liking to Virginia and wanted her for Manuel. I agree -- hook them up and see what happens.
I loved Jorge telling Salma not to worry so much about Virginia since she had her beloved cardiologist over in Mina Escondida.
Nanciyaga did make things worse. UGH!
Was that a lemon Vero gave Emi so he can put on his bruise? And I agree that throwing the bucket of cold water on Emi should have been what Vero did to wake him up. Not only would it have been funny but the whole misunderstanding could have been avoided.
I agree.
Grampa is such a goooooood judge of character. He'll get just what he deserves. The granddaughter(V-snaake)-inlaw from hell and her knitwit husband (manuel). She's a wonderful addition to the already screwed up family. Imagine thanksgiving dinners.
