Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #2 Tue 7/14/15: Of Good Gals and Gossips

Discuss here till recap up.  --tks!

Parte 1~~
Attorney Max Bustamonte has seen a woman in distress and lends her a hand –luhv at first site for the gal (Maria Delores) and the galán to be.  He steps as White Knight—his charitable deed for the day—and tells the detective to back of backbiting poor M.D. for now.   Copperhead Cop says until he can prove her story she’s suspect número uno.

As for Maria Delores, how’s she going to pay?  He may be a terrific attorney but she just lost her job.  Skinny Boy Brotherly Friend (Julian) says he’ll take care of that and not to worry.  Then he tells his story to Max.

Back in the barrio meanwhile, Skinny Boy’s Mama is consoling Esperanza over her hubby’s tragic death when Gossip Hag de Josefina shows up to stick her nose into the mix and spread her special venomous brand of “good cheer”.   M.D. has gone with Skinny Boy Son to give their statements to the police and to see about getting her husband’s body released for the funeral.  Isela has apparently gone to lend moral support, says Josefina, and will lose her job just like Maria Delores if she’s not careful.  “--Ooops.  You didn’t know?  Oh, yeah, for stealing!”  Had to be the tragedy that kept her from mentioning it to me, says Esperanza.  “—My daughter’s no thief!”  She’s heading off to church to pray.  Skinny Boy’s Mama will join her but stops to chastise Josefa, who isn’t content with poisoning the air of one in pain.  Nope.  She tells SBM that M.D. was also accused of screwing around with her boss, too!  Tsk. Tsk.

Julian’s (Skinny Boy’s) mama is off to pray with Espy for the souls of the “good-for-nothing and wayward” [descarriado].  Honoria (SB'sMama, aka SBM) stops to grouse with Fermin (rhymes with vermin and he looks like he’s crawlin’ with them) over what he knows about last night’s robbery and murder of Rodolfo Morales.  Nada!  Give back the money and spill the beans or I’ll go to the police.  He threatens to tell her kid that he’s Skinny Boy’s real father and we have a perfect Mexican standoff with this.

Josefa has of course been all ears and hiding behind the stairways eavesdropping.  She catches up to Skinny Boy’s Mama and says she’ll come to pray with her too since she’s praying for the “wayward.”  SBM, after all, has a few secrets regarding her son’s daddy, now doesn’t she?  SBM turns around and gives as good as she gets.  “--Watch your mouth, Josefa or I’ll tell Isela that you’re not her real mother!”  (Cue the brakes on an 18 wheeler.)

Max’s papi is pissed! “—Alma!!!”  Ol’ Claudio has just gotten call from the prep-school that his son’s been playing hookie.  Claudio calls Leonardo right away on his cell phone to ask where he is.  Viewerville notes he’s in class taking notes like a good boy.  “—Gotta go!.”  Click!  (Damn if school isn’t like something out of an early Star Trek these days.)   Viewerville and Claudio wonder what’s what.

Attendance is being taken and he learns Mardi’s sis, Clara’s, daddy just died.  The funeral will be that afternoon in the barrio.  He’s gonna be there or be square.Max calls his kid brother later in the day and gets the lowdown on the funeral.    Kid bro de Leo is there waiting for the body in the casket to appear.

Across town in the ritzy parts of the newly bankrupt and otherwise corrupt of the D.F., Ursula shakes her lazy, good-for-nothing son, Daniel, awake to see how things er… progressed with Ivana Duval, dress designer and cash cow. He kissed “La Vaca.”  “--It’s a start, right Ma?”  She was hoping for much more and forces him to call and set a lunch date for today with her, which he proceeds to do immediately.  (Sleep helps husky the voice, I suppose and this dude needs all the husky he can get ITHO of this part of Viewerville.  He may not be an alpha-male, but he is definitely A-rating slime bucket material.)

Speaking of which, we see a pretty hefty gal, Linda, in bed with her Bombon, a macho male who is giving her roses after a night of passion.  He’s off to work, or some such.

Mardi mentions to kid sis later that morning after she makes it back home, that Daniel didn’t return her calls and she’d waited all night and morning to hear back from him.  Seems that she’d gotten hold of him once and then the line went dead.  Perhaps she’d turned off the phone or something when he tried to call back.   They talk about there not being any money to pay for the funeral, but Clara assures her they can fill out forms to ask for help from charitable organizations who specialize in that sort of thing.  Ok.

Later in the day, Linda and Bombon (Ari?) are walking along the street, Mardi’s and Clara’s brother/family friend (?) hails him.  He asks who the gal is and Lover Boy says she’s just somebody he doesn’t know who was asking directions.  She hears and walks off disgusted and angry.  MD’s brother tells him about his dad and the funeral.  Bomobon needs a ticket to ride, literally.  He wants to emigrate somewhere.   (Didn’t catch much of that conversation.)

At the sweat shop of a tailor shop, Isela takes up a collection for Mardi’s daddy’s funeral and burial.  Jacinto, of the cancerous-looking birthmark next to his nose (we can only hope…..) breaks up the session and starts getting touchy feely with all the women at the same time.  Finally Isela’s had enough, threatens him.  He tells them thanks to her he’s docking them 2 days’ pay.  She calls Max from the card she took of his and pretends to be Mardi.  She asks if she can see him the next day since there’s a funeral today for “her dad.”  Why lie to him about her identity?  Because he offered Mardi help, not her.
~~end parte 1~~
====================
~~PARTE 2~~

Bombon is the tennis teach at “The Club” we see.  He gets an angry call on the court from Linda who gives him grief for rudely telling his friend he didn’t know her.  How could he, he tells her, it’d be bad for his rep as a tennis coach at the club if they knew he dated a LARGE tart (pun intended) like her.  Same goes for her, she (aka Doris) says back, if they knew she was dating a DOPE like him!  Click!  Just then Dani’s ditzy sis shows up on the court and Ari dives right in. -- Let the flirtations on both sides begin.  They do.

At the morgue, los Morales identify dead papa’s body.

Back in the barrio, Julian tells Mama that he’s helping Mardi with her dad’s funeral expenses.  Mama warns him about getting romantically involved with the wrong person.  He can get burned in the end.  (Something we need to heed in this bit of advice?  Hmmmm.)  Julian asks if she’s speaking fro experience.  He assumes so since he mentions his father having abandoned them early on.  “—Some fathers do this when a child is born with a deformity.  They cannot handle it and they leave.”  (Ok.  His outlook is adult.  He’s a really good guy.)

Josefa now gives Isela grief for skipping work and for arriving late.  Tough nutz, Ma.  It’s Maria Delores and it’s her papi’s funeral!  Josefa warns her about getting involved in other people’s problems—er battles.  They get into a squabble over the loss of the money that pays the rent and puts food on the table.  (Why should Josi work?  She has Isela, now doesn’t she?  All the more reason to scream at her.)  Isela pulls out Max’s business card and says if she hadn’t gone to the city hall to help Mardi she’d never have met Max Bustamonte!  (Cue the brakes for that 18 wheeler again.)

Isela races off to the funeral.  Outside the barrio, Danny Boy is spying in his fancy car.  He sees the funeral home’s limo pull up and discharge the casket with Rodolfo’s body in it and the pall bearers waiting to carry it inside the walls.  When he’s seen enough he scramolas and heads to the restaurant where Ivana’s been kept waiting.

At the Bustamonte dining table, Claudio gripes about Leo’s social life taking priority over his studies.  Max gets off the phone with Leo after asking directions of the funeral and heads over.

Max shows up suddenly at the funeral just as it’s starting.   Isela and Josefina are drop-jaw imapactadas.  MD simply looks over at him and shares a dreamy-eyed expression.

Danny arrives at the restaurant.  He rudely leaves Ivana at the table while he greets the young society beauties at the other table.

Back at the funeral, Mardi asks Max if he’s there with the crime scene investigators [perito= assessor] or what.  Nope he’s there to extend his heartfelt sympathies.  Isela races over and asks how he knew the address and why he’s there.  He says it’s odd, but his brother’s there and knows Mardi’s kid sis from school.  Rather than disturb them further, he’ll just wait outside for Leo till after the ceremony.

At the restaurant Ivana lets her anger fly.  She’s not going to waste her time with him any more than he wastes his time with other girls who know he’s not serious, as he puts it. He sits her down and gets her into a better mood, assuring her she’s not just a game for him.

Turns out that for some reason Leo’s not about to explain to his big brother just yet, he hasn’t quit school, only changed schools.  Yes, he knows he’s got to give their parents an explanation, but not right now.  He’s got Clara to look after.  That’s topmost right now!

Julian, with his mama, Honoria, in the background, explains the evening’s events to the DF’s version of CSI.  They get mad that his mama cleaned up the blood off the floor already.  But of course, she yells at them.  “--You didn’t expect us to sleep in a place with blood pooling everywhere, did you?”

It’s noon and there’s nobody in the sweat shop when Head Designer Assistant, Gerry, calls looking for his top gal in the studio, Maria Delores.  Jacinto lies about where the staff is.  Just then the women reappear and he offers the phone to the older gal.  He hovers over her and manhandles her so she knows to lie to Sr. Gerry about Mardi being fired.  She does.

Isela reminds Jacinto that M.D. is the best seamstress in the shop and he should have remembered that before getting her fired the day before.  Jacinto gets in her face and literally backs her over a table to intimidate her further.  She slaps him.  He accuses her of being just as lax as Mardi by coming in late this morning and then late after lunch.  She defends herself and the other women, insisting they’re all there come rain or shine and even after hours when need be.  And he knows it!  “--Oh, should I applaud?  Should I get you mariachis and what not?  It’s your job!  Just do it!”  She hauls off and slaps him.   (About time, too!  Almost as good as chocolate—naw, better!)    He advises her that anybody who hit another worker deserves getting fired.

Gerry now I counseling Ivan about men being able to smell a woman looking to get hitched from miles off.  Those are the kind that run as fast and as far away as they can.  she knows that now and it’s not like that with her.  This Daniel is just odd and slippery.  She cannot make out what he’s about or after yet, is all.  She knows men are generally not interested in her and she’s no fool about that, she assures him.  Gerry warns her to get out of this game before she gets hurt.  She listens but seems to definitely be hoping this one time she’s wrong.

And at Ursula’s wolf’s den, she complains that Danny the wolf cub hasn’t come home.  Maybe Ivana’s got some bits of enchantment she’s enticed him with, suggests his sister.  Mama snickers.  “—The only thing men see charming about Ivana is her millions!”

In fact, Danny the Playboy is playing heartily with the beauties from earlier this afternoon at the restaurant.

At the same time, Ari the Bombon tennis teach is lying to Linda about still being at his friend’s funeral.  Ooops!  Linda’s around the corner waiting for him in ambush and catches him in the lie.  He smarmily squirms his way around the lie and her.  She doesn’t want him just in her bed but in her life also!  He swallows hard.

Back at the Morales funeral reception, Josefina bemoans the luck both M.D. and Clara have had meeting and attracting the Butamonte brothers.  She says, well doesn’t matter how, but  Isela is to make sure that Mardi is well out of her way when she begins whatever with Max’s daddy.  (Okayyyyyy.)  Isela stares at the attention Leo is giving to Clara and her mother and sister at that very moment.

The next day los Morales cry over the casket and say their last good-byes.  On her way to work, Isela watches this and remembers her praying to Dios to watch over her dead sister as she lay in a casket also.  --It’s not to work though, but to her appointment to see Max Bustamonte.  She’s there and sees her “victim” greeting a client.  She flashes back to the scene where Josefina pushes her face down into her sister’s casket and screams at her to remember it was Claudio Bustamonte who killed her little sister!  (Dun-dun-dunnnnn!)   She nearly faints and Claudio races over to assist her.  (Did she change clothes somewhere along the line?  Back to dignified black from that hideous flowered thing, or what?)

M.D. thanks Julian for all his help—her best friend ever (despite his not being well enough to attend the funeral or the burial afterwards?).  Just then Danny calls her and she explains how she waited for him all night but didn’t hear anything so she never wants to hear from him or see him again!  Click!

Danny, angry at being hung up on, turns his car around, but simply cannot get it to clear the lamp post.  He crashes into the pole and is knocked... unconscious. (Too bad, right sports fans?)  Will he perish or won't he?  Will he be paralyzed or won't he?  Will Ivana come racing to his side?  Stay tuned for episodio 3.

Thank you Jardinera, I will await your recap with glee.
I did catch the episode yesterday but I dont remember most of it. It was quite a twist that Maly is doing the same thing as Dan with Ari, her tennis trainer ( Seek passion and money in dos hombres) . It was also quite an sad episode with everyone of the Rodolfo family crying.
Leo is quite good looking actually, I am already shipping him and Clara. I just couldnt believe that Dan just took away at the sad funeral like an unsupportive brat that he is. I am glad that he got his first anvil despite being miniscule. He deserves a bigger hellhole for playing both Ivana and MD like fools. Although his date with Ivana and Ursula's ding dong ding dong in the morning was plain hilarious.

Hoe-Sefa was an annoying bugger as always!

Jardinera- I'm sure your recap will be wonderful. This was such a sad episode.

I speculated yesterday that the two younger siblings of the protags would eventually connect, but I was surprised to see this episode that they already know and care about each other. Like Daniel, Leo is also pretending to be poor, but not in a sleazy way like Dan. Of course, since Isela and Josefa are Bustamante stalkers, and know everything about that family, I'm not sure how much longer Leo's real background will be a secret. Or his brother might be the one to blow his cover, now that he's become part of MD's world.

Is Alejandro Camacho's character supposed to be good or bad? Bustamante was quite unpleasant towards Leo (giving me shades of Augusto Castagnon) but was concerned (not irritated) when Isela fainted.

Anon207- I'd imagine most parents would be ticked off to get a call from their kid's school saying he's been truant. Not sure we have enough info on Bustamante yet to decide if he's evil, grey, or good. He seems arrogant and demanding, but not necessarily evil, yet.

Thank you Jardinera for Part 1 of your recap and I will be waiting with anticipation for Part 2. I really appreciate this so much!

I don't know what is going on with the subtitles for this telenovela but this is two episodes out of two now that they are not working properly, both the English and Spanish subtitles are not working. In the first episode they lagged behind a lot where it was all but impossible to read them and pay attention at the same time to what was going on on screen since there was such a disconnect and now in the second episode the subtitles not only lagged the entire time again but when they did appear they were often choppy and missing portions. When the English wasn't working, I switched to the Spanish which is how I know that things that were being said that weren't even showing up in the captions. Someone would say 5 lines and then after a big delay, maybe 2 lines would quickly pop up and disappear.

I really hope this issue gets fixed because I was super excited to watch this telenovela after hearing good things about it but as great as these recaps are, I don't know if I want to watch an entire tn by watching the show and not understanding the dialogue and then needing to read what happened every day. It's like a double commitment and really frustrating. The subtitles for the tn before it, Lo Imperdonable, were perfectly fine so I don't know why this is happening with this show.

Thank you for an ecxcellent Part One Jardinera. but there were two mistakes. It was not Ursula who asked Fermin ( Vermin LOL) but Honoria (A woman who posseses an immense amount of honor) Julian's mom. Also Ari's GF is called Doris not Linda.

I don't think that Strict Dad is supposed to be a villian, he is only a strict pain in the arse for now. He is so far one of the few with a common sense. I loved how Isela defended herself against the scumtrash EggCinto but he deserves worse.

I guess I also ask because Josefa seems to think he is THE EVUL because of what happened to her daughter. I didn't understand that Leo was supposed to be going to School A but is now in School B. I think the show has laid out fairly well who is "good" and who is "bad" but I can't get a read on Bustamante.

Thanks for the corrections, Countx. Missed Honoria in that part when speed checking. will change that. Ari calls Doris "linda". I'll just go with the flow there. Forgive me, Dorie!

Anonymous 9:8AM.....Thanks. Such is the luck of the draw with Uni and its CC's. The only way you'll ever be sure of the CC's (when they have them, that is) is by getting Hulu+, which, unfortunately is a pay channel. Sometimes they don't even have the Spanish there, but 95% of the time they do and they're never that slow or that confusing. But, yes, the idea is to condense a bit of the dialogue if they can. Its a matter of space and timing with the scenes.

============
vivi, dc: Thanks again. Gotta go to work y'all. Enjoy! Thanks ahead for stopping by and taking the time to read.

Thanks again for the third time Jardinera. This was such a good and hilarious read. I have found the Ivana date hilarious but at the same time frustrating for MD. Gerry is more fit for Ivana but too bad that he is stuck and loaded in the friendzone.

I hope that Isela doesnt go down the dark path and keeps Clara& Leo in peace. Hoe-Sefa is simply unsupportable as a mother, there cannot be any worse person to raise a child up. How did Isela manage to support her all this time without becoming BSC herself? Props to Azela for driving us nuts with her role! It's my first time seeing Fabiola Guarajado (Isela) in a novela and I find her very pretty. I haven't seen De Te Quiero so I wouldnt know her dark side.

Thank you for the comprehensive recap Jardinera. Hmmm. What is up with Josefa, she raises a child not her own and trains her for revenge?

Thanks so much, Jardinera! As expected, you didn't disappoint.

Countx- Thanks for keeping all the names straight for us.

I feel sorry for poor Isela. She so does not want to do this revenge thing, but I'm sure Josefa has drilled this into her head since she was a little girl. If Josefa isn't Isela's mom, is she her grandma perhaps?

Thank you for the wonderful recap Jardinera! So glad to read you again and in this telenovela.

Jarocha

Two shows in and already I like the feel of this one much better than 42 episodes of Lo Imperdonable.

Cannot believe I'm saying this, not a love at first sight kinda girl, but I would get it if MD and Max start a relationship from a few meetings. Please don't make either crazy.

Daniel is one piece of work but he works what he's got

Oh boy, we got a tennis pro man ho

Great work, Jardinera.

Hoe-sefa reaches a new low tonight and I suspect she's only headed in one direction: Down. Azela Robinson has an unerring talent for low-class villanas.

So Isela isn't Hoe-sefa's daughter? Not a surprise if one wants to believe in personality being genetic. Put me on record now for hating the idea that Honoria had anything to do with Fermin. Poor Julian, whom I think wants to be more than a brother to Maria Dolores.

I liked that they showed a heavy-set woman who is sexual and sure of herself. Now she just needs to get rid of her stupid tennis coach boyfriend, who seems to enjoy having sex with her, but won't be seen in public with her. Glad that she pointed out that it isn't good for HER reputation either to be seen in public with such an idiot. You go, girl! All of these ladies need to stick it to these creeps-- Ari, Daniel, and Jacinto. Thank goodness there are plenty of really great guys around, like sickly Julian, Max, his brother Leo, and the vecino guy who's sweet on Isela.

Vivi , I agree that the amount of good guys is a nice to have. In QPD there was such stupidity and obsession that it drove me nuts. All the good guys there were shat on by Devil Dog & Mac until the very end..

Jardinera654,thanks for a great recap.
That horriable moma wants her daughter to have an affair with the guy she says Is responsible for her sister's death. the girl is clearly scared to death to the point of passing out. what is up with that. I was thinking maybe he was her father. Theres a lot of unknown stuff going on here with these people. I got to really watch this to see what comes out of the wash. Secrets, from the past. This will be interesting must see TV.
I don't like cancer guy. He should be fired or something worse. Him gropping that woman like that, some women would have stabbing him with a pair of sewing shears.
Fabio madina's character is acting like crazy cesar on QA, Only a litte more reckless.
we'll see if he's mamed himself later.

Jardinera654 - Awesome recap! Thank you!

I am SO enjoying seeing a couple of larger ladies in main storylines. I have been feeling this lack in TNs for so long, I honestly thought I would just never see the day. I was a little disppointed that Linda's storyline went from her being an adored girlfriend to a hidden one, but I love that she doesn't just take that treatment. I can't wait to see how her storyline and that of Ivana play out.

On the other hand, I'm already kind of annoyed with a lot of the other players. The sexual harassment at the tailoring shop and the crazy abusive mom-not-really-mom is so in your face that I just sickened. Both of these people just seem like slime. I don't get how or why anyone else tolerates them. Why aren't there any complaints against Jacinto? Has no one ever thought to complain anonymously, in writing? To go over his head, and feel out the response from higher ups (especially if Ivana's main desginer calls the shop directly). Isela's and Josefa make a little more sense because of the "mom"/daughter relationship, but I'm surprised everyone else doesn't leave when she shows up because she exudes bad karma like a stench. I seriously hope Isela's not related to the Bustamente's the way she's foisting her off on them for seduction.

Also, I don't find Dan attractive at all and even less charming, so I don't really get why all those women are all over him. Ivana, girl, you could do so much better!

oh yeah, Daniel's a troll but with most of these women he's leveraging his purported wealth and social position. I'm scratching my head what MD ever saw in the guy unless she responded to the BS.

Daniel's kinda cute & sexy in a certain way. His behavior isn't. I could see how MaryPain would respondn to him.

Hellashelle, ITA. I'm glad to see + size ladies on tns, and american soaps. They can be just as sexy, smart and beautiful as the skinny size girls. And they are just as capible of being bitchy too. So us plus sizes ain't missing out on nothing. Just be nice girls and BRING IT!!!

Muchas Gracias, Jardinera.

"Skinny Boy’s Mama will join her but stops to chastise Josefa, who isn’t content with poisoning the air of one in pain." Who is, though?
