Capítulo #107 8/26/15

"The Long and Winding Road to San Bartolo el Chico" or "Are We There Yet?"

Part One

We start the episode with Carmen visiting Beto in the boys bedroom as she is feeling insecure about going to work at the company because her dad is not taking her seriously. Beto gives her a pep talk telling her is she wants their dad to take her seriously she has to have self confidence and go andad and convince him. She will go tomorrow and he promises to support her.

At the Velasco house, Santiago and Isabel are on theor bed looking at an old photo album from their university days. Santiago says they used to call him "hottie Velasco" Back we are taken in time and we get to see their surreal graduation dance from 1995 with Esteban, Estefany and Mireya also included. This is something you really have to see to appreciate. They all look like "greasers" from the '50's. First Santiago and Esteban talk a lot of nonsense about Esteban having lost the contest and now having to get beer for the party since he is Santiago's slave now for 24 hours. If he does not Santiago will pull his pants down in front of all the girls. Next, Esteban tells him he Santiago is not the villain in this story and that his wise mother has told him every bad act is paid back in kind. Esteban talks about what if a poor rancher appears tomorrow amd he wants to take his company, his money or even his wife. Santiago says that would be impossible. He would be hit by lightning first and then he is hit by the animated kind that shows him as a skeleton. Mext we have Santiago mcing on to Estefany. Estefanh is saying how she is going to dance the whole night with her boyfriend Santiago. They are dancing together. Off to the side, Mireya is talking to her friend Isabel. Santiago takes notice of Isabel and tells Estefany that he has bad news for her because he has decided who is going to be his "Puchis" and of course it is Isabel. Santiago puckers up his lips and Mireya belches. (Charming, indeed!). We return to Santiago and Isabel with the photo album.

It is the next morning and Carmen has dressed professionally in a black skirt, white blouse and blue jacket with black heels to go see Facundo at the company. She has to show them she is a serious girl and that she is interested in more than just modeling. She wants to be a marketing executive that everyone can be proud of.

Outside, we are having a very long goodbye as Facundo and Granpappy Porfirio leave for San Bartolo el Chico. María is crying and Porfirio is blessimg them all. Facundo Leaves without Porfirio and has to come back to get him in the SUV. Of course, Facundo also gets a phone call from Esteban saying they need him for something at the company.

Part Two

The Velasco's are seated on their bed talking about how much they love each other and now great it is that things are finally getting straightened out between them. At one point they had thought that divorce was the only answer. That would have done irreparable damage to all of them. God is giving them another chance. They both apologize to each other.Santiago vows to not rat until he gives Isabel the joy back that he took from her.

Facundo is telling tha family that Esteban called him about an emergecy at the office so he will be going with Porfirio amd Beto to the office mad leavimg for San Bartolo el Chico as soon as the emergency is dealt with. María is left crying and wiping her eyes and blowing jeer nose on poor Susana's school uniform jacket. They finally leave.

At the company there is a meeting amd Facundo introduces an employee Andrea who has been with them for a while who is going to present a new marketing plan. Her proposal is to provide 10% off discount coupons to those who are interested in purchasing the condos that are being built. They can distributed in newpapers, internet, etc. Facundo does not llke the idea since the condos are at their lowest price already. She assure him that the money won't be coming out of the company. Sounds like the condos will be priced 10% higher than their rock bottom price so when the coupon is used they will be at the lowest price. Facundo asks of that is lying. No, just a marketing strategy. Felipe admits to being a little confused by it all but agrees as does everybody else.

The meeting looks like it is over when Carmen makes an entrance stating she wants a job and has come to talk to him about it. He wants to put it off but Beto takes her side saying he and Feli will take charge of the meeting. A whining Carmen accuses Facundo of giving Andrea an outsider a chance over her. Facundo tells her this is not the time or place for all of this. She insists she is here now. She gets real snippy and tells him he has to listen to her now. In the meantime, Porfirio is flirting with the receptionist. Are her eyes green or blue or one of each color? If he had known she were going to be there everyday, he would have asked his son for a job.

The red head twins are harassing Jacinto again pouring water on his head so Susana is off after them.

Facundo has Carmen in his office telling her how cute she looks just like her mom when he first met her. Carmen tells him she is more than ready. Facundo asks a very good question: what is she going to do if she has never worked. She wants to be just like Beto. She insists this is the family business so she has a right to work there. He tells her she won't be working there now maybe in the future wjen she has decided what she wants to do with her life. Then he will give her the opportunity. He rolls her out of his office on the chair she is sitting on. He says to himself that she looks like an executive but then asks himself can she execute.

Part Three

A very excited and happy Isabel has just arrived home from a shopping trip and shows Santiago everything she has bought. Dresses for her and undershorts for him. Santiago just gets upset amd wants to know how much she spent. Through a series of charades she informs him she spent 80,000 pesos. He starts to cry and she tries to distract him by talking about how much they love each other and does he not want to see his new undershorts.

Esteban and Estefany are planning and conniving again. Esteban and Estefany are both in a bad mood because after everything they have gone through, Isabel and Santiago are very happy. Estefany says that will just make it harder to acquire all they own. Esteban still wants to divide them somehow. He is going to talk to Facundo and convince him that Isabel wants to hurt him. Then he will talk to Santiago and convince him that his wife is an evil manipulator. That is his plan. He hopes to end up with Facundo's company and do harm to the Velasco family. He wants to know what Estefany knows about forging signatures. She just smiles.

Rocío is all alone thinking about Beto and how it hurt seeing him. She also wonders why he is in love with Hilda again.

Francis is on the Carmona property passing on through to get to the Velasco house. She passes by the goat pen. The goats want to kmow who that blomdie is that walks more crooked than Tito the burro. They don't like her because they have seen Carmen bawling over what that corn silk hair girl has done to her. They call her a "proxy locks" ( for bleaching her hair.)

Rocío stops by to see María but is incomfortable because she and Beto are still angry with each other. Perpétua and Comchita are there, too. María has a surprise for Rocío: it is a dress she had made for her using her own (Rocío's) design.

Francis finally arrives at Isabel's living room. Isbael sent for her because she wanted to apologize to her because of their last conversation. She did not want to hurt her. Francis is happy that Isabel does not hate her. She would have called her earlier but she has been busy getting her marriage in order. She also tells Francis not to mess with her Felipe and there is Felipe wanting to know what she is doing there. He suggests that she go talk to Carmen and clear things up with her after what she pulled. He is not interested in talking to her until she talls to Carmen. Isabel chimes in and tells her to fix the problem with Carmen. Francis looks shocked.

Jarifa, terrific title. I’ve read the first 3 parts of your outstanding recap and it was delightful, every word.

There are always so many things I didn’t understand and desperately want to. Tonight, believe it or not, the goat conversation was one of them. As usual, your thorough details answered my question with additional fun information: “They don't like her because they have seen Carmen bawling over what that corn silk hair girl has done to her. They call her a "proxy locks" (for bleaching her hair). Excellent!

I thoroughly enjoyed Susana going after those cute little red headed twin devils, putting up her “dukes”.

Loved the “Grease” homage – fresh and fun. “hottie Velasco” was adorable.

“Rocío is all alone thinking about Beto and how it hurt seeing him. She also wonders why he is in love with Hilda again”. Rocio, your new hair and wardrobe seems to be adversely affecting you. What happened? Rocio, you are so much better and smarter than this. Snap out of it!

I’m a little frustrated with Estefi and Esteban continuing to plot (likely fruitlessly). Shouldn’t Estefi be doing something constructive with her time like getting together with Florencio?

If Carmen wants to make a good impression professionally, may I make a suggestion? Making a spectacle of yourself at a meeting to which you barged in uninvited, demanding, whining and mewling may not be the best approach. Love Fac’s musing: “He says to himself that she looks like an executive but then asks himself can she execute”. Excellent question.

Must get some sleep but eagerly await the rest of your recap in the morning.

Sleep well all.

Part Four

At the Carmona house, everyone is admiring the dress. Carmen comes in and wants the dress for herself. Marîa says she can try it on but has to go give the animals water first.

Of course, Carmen has to run into Francis when she goes out to water the animals. Francis says she wants to talk. Carmen tells her it is time for her to turn the page. Why is she not happy? She is so pretty with a doll face, etc. but everythig seems bad to her and she doesn't enjoy anything. Francis wants to talk but Carmen tells her no because she never invited her in the first place. She tells her to turn the page just like she Carmen has done. Carmen goes dancing away leaving a pensive Framcis.

Facundo is still in his office getting ready to leave. He asked Esteban to stop by. He is leaving him in charge but all decisions need to be approved by Beto and Felipe. Before he leaves, Esteban wants Facundo to review and sign to just one more paper. As Facundo is doing that Esteban is smiling amd thinking how he is going to take everything Facundo has and leave him in the street and Facundo will not know how it ever happened.

Felipe wanted to go over the coupon graphics but Andrea wasn't around. When she is done with what she is doing they can take a look at the graphics. Felipe walks away aggravated.

María and Rocío are chatting about how much María misses Facundo Rocío is impressed by their love. She just wishes it were her love and asks María of she thinks she and Beto will ever be back together again. María gives her a pep talk and says when the two of them decide to put there love first above everything else, nothing will stop them. Rocíoleaves with her dress.

Finally Facundo tells Beto he is ready to go and Andrea appears with her porposal for the discout coupons with various very detailed options. She hands her work over to Facundo. Since she is still standing there, Facundo asks her if there is anything else. She wants him to go over it all right now because some great sponsors are coming by tomorrow and it all has to be in order. She just thought he woukd want to be up to date on it all. Facundo says he does with the "patinadores" rather than "patrocinadores". She gives him a weird look. Facundo tells her to consult with Beto and Felipe.

Rocío is in her bedroom and Santiago comes by to talk to her. She sees her future as a designer. He is so very proud of her. Her aunt left her a gold chain as a gift. Santiago comments on how hard Isabel is trying. Finally things are going as they should.

Back at the Carmona kitchen, María is all sad telling Granny Perpétua how she does not like to be be separated from Facundo. Granny says once they are back in the country that will not be an issue. María is worried they are never going to move back to the country.

Now Isabel stops by to see how Rocío is doing. Rocío is all depressed because she feels that Beto has already forgotten her. Isabel wants to know how she can help. Should she talk to Beto . No. Isabel then says maybe that trip to Italy needs to be moved up.

Esteban walks in on Santiago at his desk. He wants to know how things are going on at home. Things are great with Isabel, Rocío is having love problems. Esteban seems way too nosey about eveyone's personal life.

Felipe is still waiting for Andrea to show him the propsals because he wants to be up to date for tomorrow. She tells him to wait outside. She has a call to make and then they can go over the proposals. Andrea makes a call to Esteban telling him she did all he asked. Now the ball is in his court. Yes, he will get her that raise. (!!!!!)

Esteban is outside walking in the garden thinking about that trip to Italy and how he is going to make sure that everybody thinks that María and Facindo bought Rocío that ticket.

Part Five

La Pantera is in San Bartolo el Chico. The Amarripa Brothers try to sell her one of her own horses they must have stolen. She hits at them with her riding crop. Damn town!!! They will all pay. She is preoccupied with getting even with María who took away her right to have a family.

Jarifa

Jarifa- my cable was being weird last night and I didn't get to see this. I love the title and I'm looking forward to reading the recap. Thank you!

(now off to do the recap I was supposed to do yesterday.)

Thanks so much, Jarifa! Is Francis going to finally find redemption? She was taken aback by Carmen flattering her, and advising her to just decide to be happy. Whatever her other faults, Carmen certainly doesn't let setbacks keep her down for long before she happily takes on another challenge, and she doesn't keep looking back or hold a grudge. Now she just needs to work on the whining and the brattiness, and she'll be just fine. I liked her impulse to throw herself into learning to be an exec (if she can't model), if not the execution. She's on the right path.

Are Fac and Porf ever going to get to SBeC?

I believe at the end Esteban says he's going to make everyone think Fac and Isabel have run off together (since Fac will be in SBeC and Isa will be in Italy with Rocio). Don't see how that could work since they will both be accompanied by family members, and I'm sure they'll be in contact with their family via phone and Skype.

Isa says she wants to change and improve her marriage, and she's doing pretty well so far. But her constant shopping was one of the things that endangered their finances and therefore their marriage the last time, and she seems to be falling right back into that. Poor Santi looked so stressed about the cost, and Isa just blithely says money comes and goes. No, that's not the way it works, Isa.

Have Santi and Isa made love yet?

Vivi, I am under the impression that Rocío is going by herself to Italy especially with the comment that Esteban's new plan is to buy Rocío the plane ticket and make everyone think that Isabel and Facundo bought it for her. I could have made that clearer in the recap. That certainly would annoy Santiago, María, Beto because it would look like Isabel and Facundo really want to finalize Beto and Rocío's break up by physically removing her from the situation as well as it would appear that Facundo and Isabel have been in contact literally "in cahoots" to plan this deceit. Esteban would be planting a "seed of evil" ( as he put it) between these two families. Certainly, they would be at each other's throats again.

I sure agree about your take on Carmen. If she would lose her "entitled" whiney attitude she'd be okay because she does have perseverance and a certain optimism about her.

As far as Santiago and Isabel? I don't know.

Jarifa

Few thoughts:

What else did Facundo sign for Esteban last night and whose signature might Estefany be forging in the future and for what? Esteban is all over the place crazy.

Rocío should not be surprised by Beto's behavior in the face of her own indecision. She knows him as she described him in a recent past episode as a guy that can't be alone and travels from one girl to another. Shortly after Rocío told him to leave her alone he was talking to Facundo about Hilda. They both need a vacation from each other to reevaluate the situation.

Good to see La Pantera catching the Amarripa brothers in their own game.

I sure hope Porfirio and Facundo get to San Bartolo el Chico tonight!

Jarifa

I loved the last parts as well Jarifa.

The only thing I can add to my previous comment is that while I hate what Este is doing, I would rather he fiddle with plane tickets rather than try and hurt Isa further and separate Isa and Santi. I have no doubt that Beto and Rocio will end up together so not worried about this.

Once Fac gets past his too quick anger, jealousy and machismo, he realizes Maria loves him. Esteban is out of his league and out of his mind.

You are right about Carmen Vivi. I have a lot of patience but can't abide whining. She does have many good qualities but the pouting really overshadows them at times.

I'm not ready to accept Frannie may be redeemed. Digging my heels in on this one :(

Jarifa, the time and care you spent on this is so evident. Thank you for your generosity.

Diana

Jarifa- Thanks for explaining the plane ticket plot!

Wonderful recap!

Vivi: I keep waiting for proof that Isa and Santi have done the deed! I haven't seen any evidence yet.

Carmen whining in a middle of a meeting didn't win her any points but considering that Beto doesn't seem to do much but sit around and agree with his Dad, I give Carmen credit for wanting to learn. Beto seems to do little at work or school. He doesn't seem interested in anything but Rocio.

Looks like Francis may get redemption after all.

The previews look great. As Gringo would say, "must see TV"!

Good point about Beto, Carvivlie. He certainly doesn't seem ambitious.

Maria has long advocated Facundo as a savvy businessman. However, Fac has not exactly proven himself. Now that it appears he is being duped (again), I have less and less confidence in his business acumen.

But, I have incredible confidence in his hawtness. Sigh.

Diana

Glad you guys enjoyed the recap. I had so much fun writing it.

Sara, sure hope you get to see this episode if nothing else for the Santiago/Isabel graduation dance.

Diana, yes! Estefany should be dedicating herself to something more constructive like Florencio! "Snap out of it!" Is perfect advice for Rocío.

Carvivlie, yes this will definitely be "must see TV" tonight. It would nice to see Francis get redemption. Carmen was so kind to her after all Francis has done to her. It sure said something good about Carmen's character and maturity at this point.

Jarifa

Diana, Fac seems more concerned with Esteban being in his office than what Esteban gives him to sign. I'm hoping that Fac's "I know what is going on" smile that he seems to have on his face when he talks to Esteban means he really is on top of things. But leaving Felipe and Beto, couple of college kids, in charge while he is away is very odd to me in an "empresa".

Jarifa – Your title is spot on. Thanks for all the sparkling details.

So Maria was crying because Fac will be gone for a few days tops maybe? I guess she’s really really really happy with him now because I don’t remember her crying like that for his other overnighters. I guess this is a setup for something.

Poor Santi. But at least Isa thought to buy something for him in her 80,000 peso shopping spree. Maybe he'll get lucky in the new undershorts.

Kudos to Fac for not giving in to Carmen. And though he foolishly put Esteban in charge, at least he made Feli and Beto the approvers. It’s a shame though that Rocio is moping around and out of the loop. That girl is the smartest good person in this TN, and she never trusted Esteban or Estefany in the first place. Oh, yeah, the villains would love for Rocio to go to Italy.

Niecie, yours is the funniest comment of the day. "Maybe he will get lucky in the new undershorts". I laughed outloud at that one. Isabel is the one who bought them after all. Thanks for the laugh.

Jarifa

Niecie, like Jarifa I'm still laughing about Santi and what results (if any) there are due because of his new undershorts! Excellent.

You are right in that Rocio is smart. That's why it's killing me to see her moping around rather than putting her considerable intelligence to good use, trying to stop Estefi and Esteban. Yes, she had Estefi's number at the get go. Este's as well.

Diana

Thanks for the great recap, Jarifa.

Forgot to mention before how much I liked Carmen's and Diego's reaction to coming in second at the dance contest. They were genuinely happy and Carmen was genuinely happy for Beto.

Didn't realize that Isa knew Mireya in school. Thought Santi introduced them and recommended M for I as a therapist.

Santi must have continued to date Estefy, even though he obviously liked Isa, because she was left at the altar.

Frances is dead to me for teasing the animals with the food.

Nanette

Jarifa, I finally got to enjoy your recap cap. What a relaxing treat after teaching all day. It was the first thing on my to do list. Now to crank up the Augustin Lara in the iPod and finish making lesson plans and copies.

Thank you for keeping me in touch with the Carmonas. Thanks to Niecie too. I loved the comment about Santi's undershorts.

Sara, love the Barilla ziti box for "Muchacha italiana"?

Jarifa

You know I like to dress up for premiere week, Jarifa. Pretty soon I will have to change into my Lichita clothes. ;-)

Recap will be up per usual. Almost show time!

Jarifa

Capítulo #108 8/27/15

"The Trip to San Bartolo el Chico: Two Birds With One Stone"

Part One

Two mysteries are solved tonight but there are other things to be covered first in this fast paced episode.

As the episode starts tonight, all of the kids are with Granny Perpétua with their 3D glasses on watching a Steven Seagal movie. Estefany comes in and joins in. Susana says if it has a good ending they should invite Ale and Amdrés over tomorrow. Jacinto likes the idea and will invite "los chapulines" (grasshoppers: red headed twins overr, too) Carmen does not such a favorable view of the twins. Conchita brings in some food but there is no salad for Estefany or organic apples either.

Granpappy Porfirio and Facundo finally arrive in San Bartolo el Chico. They are happy to be back. Porfirio thought he would never see it again. It is beautiful to them and looks the same as ever even the faces of some of the women Porfirio sees. Facundo tells his dad he will never change. Facundo calls María to tell her that they arrived okay. There is lovey dovey talk on the phone. Facundo is happy.

Beto is standing outside of the Carmona house busy on his cellphone. María asks what he is doing: he is deleting the photos of Rocío. He is trying to forget her. María thinks he is rushing things since everyone fights. Beto is im tears saying that Rocío has tired him out. María bets things will end up being just fine between them. He doesn't even care any more. María suggest that he and Rocío talk calmly about their situation. She just wants him to be happy.

Porfirio and Facundo are at the local cantina and Humilde comes on by to greet them. Facundo explains that only the two of them are there to meet with Franklin. She won't be staying long she left some beans cooking at home. Facundo's cell phone rings and it is Esteban putting his plan into action. Esteban explains how he wants to help a frightened and comfused Rocío. She wants to leave the country. Santiago and Isabel want her to talk to Beto so they can solve their problems but she does not want to nor does Beto. Esteban is afraid this could all have a bad ending so Esteban has come up with the solution of sending her to spend some time with her granny in Milan. He hopes he can count on Facundo to support this since he would have to buy the plane ticket and charge it to the company. It would only be for a short time until she would feel well enough to face the issues with Beto. Porfirio is making kissy faces at Humilde as the phone conversation is going on.

At the Carmona house, Susana, Andrés and Ale are playing dominos. Ale is saying now weird it is that her parents are not fighting any more and now she is afraid they will start again. Andrés talks about having divorced parent is not good because whenever they fight they want the kids to take sides. Susana says she is lucky her parents get along so well. Jacinto tells Ale she can always count on his friendship. The twins want to water the flowers so they don't wilt and Jacinto so he won't be a dwarf. They turn the hose on everybody.

Part Two

María is back on the phone with Facundo saying she is worried about Beto because he is so broken up over Rocío. She tells Facundo if it were not for him they would be married and none of this would have happened. It was only after he had the marriage stopped that they started having problems. Facundo is having a hard time hearing that.

Rocío is in her bedroom talking to Santiago saying she does not know if she wants to go to Italy. Santiago thinks it would be a nice fresh start for her where she could define herself and decide what she wants to do. Santiago will support her if she wants to go or not eventhough this could be a solution to her problem with Beto. He tells her she needs to come to a decision regarding Beto one way or the other.

Conchita (who does not understand what Porfirio meant when he told her not to touch his sacred picture of the last supper) is taking advantage of his absence to clean it well. Lo and behold she finds an old photo of a woman stuck under the paper backing. Who can this woman be?

Facundo and Porfirio are still at the cantina. Humilde is going home to check on the beans and Porfirio thinks it would be a real good idea to spend a night at Humilde's house so they could remember the good times. She assures him those good times will not be returning. Facundo wonders when Frankllin is coming anyway. Porfirio is not sure but starts talking about this being thecantina of his memories with the best pulque (curado de apio/made from celery). Facundo orders a guava pulque and Porfirio the celery. Franklin finally arrives saying he was late because he was coming from the restaurant where his client is waiting for them. Facundo asks if she thinks she is too good for a cantina. Franklin answers that a lady such as her would not be seen in a cantina. Porfirio wants to know where that little mango who is dying to see him is. He is clearly intrigued. Franklin repeats that she is waiting at the restaurant.

In the next scene Facundo and Porfirio are at the restaurant. An older blonde woman walks up to their table. Porfirio looks like he is in shock. He is speechless. His mluth is hanging open. Facundo is confused. When Porfirio speaks he just repeats "it can't be." The blonde says yes it is she Martina. Facundo immediately recognizes that as his mother's name. Porfirio comfirms it is his mother. She is in tears and Porfirio has gone back into shock.

Esteban is all alone congratulating himself with a toast on the execution of his plan. He jas to dkvide the couples as Julius Caeser says "Divide and conquer", He knows it is not a quote from Machiavelli. (Estefany always says it is from Machiavelli).

Back in San Bartolo el Chico, Facundo cannot believe that his mother is there right before his eyes. He confronts his dad saying that he had told him that she had left and had died. Porfirio says that since they never heard from her he thought she was dead. Porfirio can hardly believe it himself. Facundo is crying when Martina calls him son and Porfirio just looks on with his mouth still hanging open. Facundo wants his dad to tell him what is going on. Martina is feeling something beyond happiness seeing her son again.
Facindo caresses her face.

Part Three

In another part pf San Bartolo el Chico, La Pantera runs into Florencio. They are both on norseback. He calls her the little panther with the grey eyes. She tells him she is looking for María and Perpëtua and asks if he can tell her where they are staying in D.F. Sure he knows but he isn't saying a thing until he finds out why they are her enemies. It turns out that La Pantera's father is also María's father. They have different mothers. María does not know that she is her half sister. The only one who knows now is Florencio and she is going to ask him to keep it a secret until she is face to face with those filthy women.

Back at the restaurant, Facundo is apologizing because he remembers nothing of his mother. She wants him to know that she did not want to leave. She never stopped thinking of him or loving him. He harbors no ill will towards her. His father raised him really well but he always needed her and carried her in his heart. He and his mother hug. Porfirio is stil there in shock.

Back with Florencio he is telling La Pantera this is something serious because it deals with a man might have been his father in law had he married María and La Pantera would have been his sister inlaw. She reminds him that Facundo stole María right at the church door. He talks about now he went away as far as he could, made a lot of money and married. His wife died. When he heard that María amd Facundo were having problems he decided he would try to win María back since she always was the love of his life. La Pantera does not see that happening because it would be really difficult to get María to leave Facundo and when she is done with María, Florencio will not like her at all. Florencio looks worried.

Back at the Velasco's, Rocío is dealing with the fact that she has a plane ticket to Milan for tomorrow. Isabel has just told her about it. Isabel is not telling her what to do but things might be better if she goes so she can get away to think. She could stay with her granny for maybe 6 momths. Corina said she would be happy to have her. Isabel says that Esteban says the ticket was sent from Facundo's office. They will pay him back. Isabel just wants Rocío to be well, not sad. Frederick sent Isabel a magazine and there is a school Rocío could go to in Milan. Esteban's plan is working because Santiago comes in asking Isabel how she got Facundo to buy the ticket for Rocío.

Back at the restaurant, Porfirio wants Martina to tell them how is it that she has appeared now so many years after that terrible event. Where did she go? Why didn't she ever contact him? Porfirio wants her to answer. There are many things to talk about. Better to go back to he hotel where they can talk in private.

Santiago is being insistent with his question, too. Isabel explains that Esteban got the tkcket because Facundo asked him to. Rocío tells Isabel she is legally an adult and she cannot send her into exile like this. Isabel says she is not sending ner anywhere. It is totally up to Rocío. All Isabel cares about is that everything gets fixed and that Rocío is well and not suffering. It could be an opportunity. Santiago tells her to go only if she wants to. Santiago not Facundo will pay for the ticket.

Part Four

Florencio is still talking to La Pantera telling her that he is not happy with her revenge plan against María and Perpétua whom he sees as blamesless. La Pantera sure sees them as being to blame because her father was never with her. She was left abanadlned and poor which is no small thing. Florencio is not pleased hearing about anyone wanting to hurt his María, his little doe. La Pantera warns him not to her in her way.

Now Isabel and Santiago are talking about Rocío leaving and now horrible they feel. The good thing is if she goes she will study. She will get that boy out of her heart. It will be for her own good. When she comes back she will have a career and she can find another boy. Isabel tells a weeping Santiago not to worry because Rocío herself will decide.

Now Felipe drops by Rocío's room to ask her what she is going to do. She does not know. She wants to talk to Beto and try to get things right between the two of them. Felipe wants to know why she ended things with Beto. She tells him she felt trapped because she had never loved anyone before the way she loves him. She needed time to get herself together. Felipe wants to know how she is going to explain to Beto That Facindl wanted to send her to Europe. She sees that as the least lf her worries as ugly as it is. She lnly wants to worry about Beto and herself. She hopes they can be together again. Felipe hopes she is sure this time. She wants to get back with Beto to never be separated from him again. Felipe says she can always count on him.

At the Carmona house, Estefany is enjoying sunning herself all by herself by the pool and thinking about how she is just going to wait nice and quietly until the moment arrives when she will enter the action and strike definitively and overwhelmingly. How grand it will be when all of this will be hers including the pool. She gets in to swim and has to share the pool with some ducks.

Rocío finally decides to go and see Beto. She comes running out of her house all excited but of course Hilda is also coming to see him and he never sees or hears Rocío at all. It is time for the legendary MALENTENDIDO (miunderstanding). Rocío is left on her lawn watching the Hilda-Beto show as they chit chat and then he tries to help Hilda onto a horse but ends up falling down with her in his arms. She then sees the two of them embrace without hearing Hilda saying that they are just friends from now on. At that point Rocío screams "Beto" and asks him what is going on.

In the hotel room Martina, Facundo and Porfirio are continuing their conversation. She would have preferred to talk in another place but they sold the old hacienda. Facundo explains about the family moving to the city. Martina wants to hear all about her grandchildren.

Back at the Carmona house, Rocío is telling Beto she does not know how she could have been so stupid and goes running home. Hilda looks upset not happy as Beto runs after Rocío. He catches up to her and begs her to let him explain. She tells him whatever he does is up to him and he owes her no explanations. She knows what she saw. He has gone back to Hilda. She tries to go up a couple of steps to get Into the house and he lifts her back down. She pushes him away as he asks why was she coming to the garden. Did she want to talk to him? She nods yes; that is what she wanted. Beto has a slight smile until she adds that she thinks that whatever they had is all over. He begs her not to go. He grabs her. She socks him and slams the door on him.

Part Five

Rocío is upset and crying in her room. . Isabel comes in to comfort her. Rocío wants to know when the flight leaves tomorrow. She ks sure she wants to go as sure as she has ever been. Beto appears at her door. Isabel saw him outside and she asked him to come in to talk to Rocío. Isabel tells Beto that Rocío is going to Milan to distract nerself so she can be well, so she. An think. Beto starts getting more upset. He asks Rocío if she is going and she tells him she is and what is more she is never planning on coming back.

Back in the hotel Facundo is happily talking about all of his children: Beto is big and strong like him, he is like a bull and good for work; Carmen is the apple of his eye, she is so very cute and reminds him lof María when he saw her the first time, she also acts real crazy; Susana is really good at fighting like Facundo and Porfirio, she does not let anyone get away with anything; then there is Jacinto who is not really good at anything but is super smart like Facundo and Porfirio and is super good in math and all of that kind of stuff. Then there is María the love lf his life and heart, she is super good at whatever she does.

Isabel is trying to explain to Beto that Rocío needs to think and she cannot do that if he lives right across the way. Beto begs for a few moments alone with Rocío. Isabel tells her to be honest he wants to know why she is going to Italy. There is nothing thing her to Mexico. Beto tries to explain the whole Hilda thing one more time but she does not want to hear. They start yelling again. She tells him she does not care. She asks him to leave so she can pack. It is clear to Beto he was only a toy for her. He tells her to go really far away and he leaves.

Back in the hotel room, Martina is so happy for Facundo having such a beautiful family. Porfirio wants to know if after all of that talking miight there be a hard boiled egg around? Martina laughs. Seems he did the same thing when she was around. Porfirio says there are some things that just don't change with time. He tells Martina that he has never forgotten her. She has not forgotten him either. The proof is that she has come back. Facundo says now that they have caught up on the family, he And he is sure his dad would like to know:what happened to her? where was she? why did she not ever come back if she was alive

Jarifa

Thank you, Jarifa! I haven't seen the episode yet. I'm glad I at least know what's going on. And when I peek at comments during the day I'll have a clue. I think "legendary MALENTENDIDO" is perfect phrasing and I may make it standard phrasing for my recaps from now on (credited to the author of course.) Seriously... I hate that plot device. Especially when I care so much about the happiness of the characters.

Talk to each hotter, kids! Why is it so hard for these two to talk. Bien tercos los dos!

*sigh*

That should be "talk to each other."

Jarifa, I am so grateful for your carefully constructed, all encompassing detailed recap. I don't know how you remember every detail, every conversation.

The summary was superb.

"It is time for the legendary MALENTENDIDO" was inspired! Perfection.

Loved the scene of Jacinto, Ale, Susana, Andres and those cute, devilish "los chapulines". Hoped they were having as much fun playing with the hose and getting wet as they appeared to be.

"Beto is in tears saying that Rocío has tired him out". In a way, yes. But I was not happy with Maria who missed the mark in blaming Facundo for Beto and Rocio's problems. They have unresolved issues that marriage would have exacerbated, not healed.

I am irked that Beto was so friendly with Hilda. She's caused so much harm. I applaud him for forgiving her, but that would have been sufficient under the circumstances. Being "besties" is not appropriate at this point. She has a lot to atone for, particularly with Rocio.

Was Facundo really not understanding where Milan is?? That’s how it appeared from Esteban’s not too subtle exasperated tone.

“Jacinto who is not really good at anything but is super smart like Facundo and Porfirio and is super good in math and all of that kind of stuff”. Umm, what about super smart like Maria? As Sara would say, my “inner feminist” is perturbed. Facundo, I am forgiving you simply because you cried so sweetly at your mother’s reappearance.

Conchita was told several times to stay away from the paining and she just refused to do so. Don’t blame Por if he is angry.

"His father raised him really well but he always needed her and carried her in his heart". Eduardo played this scene well. He is always very touching in scenes with his “mother”. Forgive me for repeating this, but one of the most memorable TN scenes for me was his work in Laura Flores’ death scene in Corazon Salvaje (09). She played his mother. Sounds absurd I know but he broke my heart. Sorry. I digress.

Sara, "I care so much about the happiness of the characters". And there you have it. This lovable bunch has truly stolen our hearts.

Jarifa, thank you for the joy your recap brought.

Diana

Sara, I'm fixating on the Barilla box this morning.

Is it wrong to crave pasta at this hour!?

Diana

Diana- I think pasta is a perfectly respectable breakfast ;-)

My inner feminist didn't really register "smart like the boys" . My inner mama wanted to smack Fac for not recognizing that our children are not just extensions of ourselves and Jacinto "doesn't do much" just made me boil. The world needs all kinds and smart is good too.

Sara, "bien tercos los dos" says it all. I think it is a good idea for Rocío to leave. It will give each of them time to gain some perspective on which they can act. Right now they are just spinning their wheels.

Feel free to use "legendary MALENTENDIDO" anytime. It is one of my most unfavorite plot devices, too. Beto and Rocío cannot talk to each other for very long without screaming at each other anyway, so they really did not need it.

Could it be that Hilda is now turning into a semi-sympathetic character? Maybe winning the dance contest and meeting Felipe has given her some self confidence.

Guava pulque sure sounded good. : ). Now that I would try. I wonder if the local pulquería carries it. It is probably a place a lady such as myself would not be seen. LOL

Jarifa

Sara, love "inner mama" :)

Jacinto is kind, loving, compassionate and much, much more.

I think he does plenty, including making his world and those who inhabit it a better, sweeter place.

Diana

"Could it be that Hilda is now turning into a semi-sympathetic character?"

Well, I think that is the writers intent Jarifa, however, it is failing miserably with me.

Sinner to saint in sixty seconds?

Nopis.

Cranky Diana :O

P.S. Maybe I better so make some pasta...

Right? Fac's statement just rubbed me the wrong way. What an awful thing to say about your child.

But I haven't seen the episode, did it really sound as bad when he said it.

Jarifa-I have to admit that Hilda doesn't annoy me as much as she used to. Even though I want Beto and Rocío together, I would still like to see her go to Milan. She has a lot of talent and she should develop it.

You make me giggle Diana. You strike me as a gentle soul... Until a TN character annoys you.

Pasta might be the answer to world peace. Or lentils. I can't decide.

Diana, my memory is not good. Some times it can be "sieve like." The only reason there are so many details is that I have a VCR.

Good comment about María not getting any credit and if Porfirio is mentioned, why not Perpétua?

No question about it, Eduardo Yañez was perfect in the scenes with Martina.

Jarifa

Sara, When Facundo made the comments about Jacinto he had a puzzled look in his face like he did not really understand him at all. It was supposed to be funny, I think.

Lentils, yes!

Jarifa

Jarifa- You did a brilliant job with all the details as usual. Wonderful recap!

Well, I called it on Pantera's link to Maria-- half sister. It's a ridiculous reason to hold a grudge, especially when you know your papa was a rolling stone.

I was glad to see Fac react so well to his long-lost mama. She certainly looks like she's done well for herself all these decades, with all those jewels. I think I'd want an explanation first before I welcomed her with open arms. Porf was also being very welcoming, which surprised me too. Looking forward to hearing her story, and finding out the connection to Maria's dad.

The whole Beto- Rocio story is so painful right now. I'm glad Hilda now has another love interest, because she could really take advantage and make this situation so much worse, if she was still an evil beyotch.

Yes, you called it, Vivi! "papa was a rolling stone" has me singing "wherever he laid his hat was his home" this a.m. Perfect description for Perpétua's Mr. I am wondering what "terrible event" could have happened that would have Martina leave her son ( and Porfirio) .

Jarifa

Vivi, I would certainly want an explanation from my mother if I were Facundo. And, as you noted Por was shocked silent.

Both were incredibly generous and forgiving, especially as she appeared out of the blue.

Sara, in fairness, Facundo was trying to say how wonderful his children are - clearly, he is so proud and loves them. I had no issue with him crediting himself and his father for Jacinto's intelligence but I wish he'd mentioned Maria (and Perpetua too as Jarifa noted). Maria always speaks so highly of Fac's business ability, I would just love to hear him rave about how smart and savvy she is too.

Sara, I find the good in most but I have little tolerance for how cruel Hilda and Frannie have been.

Diana

Thanks, Jarifa. You got a great episode and did a fantastic job recapping it.

Loved the Facundo meets mom scenes. Porfirio has only spoken of the mom glowingly, so I can see why Facundo, at the moment, has no rancor against her, just shock and awe to be seeing and touching a mother he thought was long dead.

I think they’ve cast the mother well. She seems like a nice, loving woman and is attractive in a natural way. And I see Fac got his height from her side of the family. :D But what could have possibly kept her away so long? In an early episode, Perpetua joked that Fac’s mom had been off the rails and that’s where Carmen got her crazies from. I took it as a joke then, but maybe…

Fac describing each of his kids for his mom was so precious. It’s clear he values the individuality of each one. On Jacinto, I did take it as a joke cause he knows his youngest son is not only super smart but also useful too. Remember how Fac went to Jacinto to solve the smoke problem at Maria’s grand opening.

But I was not happy with Maria who missed the mark in blaming Facundo for Beto and Rocio's problems. They have unresolved issues that marriage would have exacerbated, not healed.

Diana, you hit the bull’s-eye on that. No way that these two were ready for marriage.

The ducks getting in the pool spoiling Estefany’s “This all will be mine!” mood -- sweet.

I will cut Fac some slack for the Jacinto comment after reading the opinions of the patio. But maybe he should take his shirt of to really convince me.

Niecie, very interesting comment about what Perpétua said about Facundo's mother being "off the rails." I had totally forgotten that. Maybe there is some truth to it. Hope we find out tonight and don't have to wait too long.

Jarifa

Jarifa, thanks so much and I'm another who loved MALENTENDIDO! What would a TN be without muchos malentendidos!! How else to extend and darken the plot?

Sara, I liked "talk to each hotter" ..

Rocio is getting on my last nerve now. It used to be Carmen but they've switched roles as most annoying young person for me. Francis and Hilde are supposed to be annoying, but I like their annoyingness (is that a word?).

Ok, so Facu's mother disappeared for some reason and now comes back, but do we don't know why. Then Maria's half sister decides to go berserk after all these years about her father? I guess she needed time to think things over, like decades.

Lola

Oh, and didn't like Facu's Jacinto remarks either but how fitting that he would say it. I keep thinking dunderhead but that was someone else's great adjective for Facu. Milan, hmmmmmm, Greece maybe ? or how about the Ukraine ?

I truly hope Stephanie does not end up with Florencio. He deserves so much better. As for her, she shouldn't get the pool, she should be at the bottom of it.

Ok, I'm done ... Lola

Lola:

"I think she needed time to think things over, like decades." Well put and funny!

To be honest, there was a little to much of Rocío in her current state for me last night. She needs to get her head together; then bring her back from Italia.

Jarifa

Piggy backing on Lola. It's catty, but yeah it's clear La Pantera has some years on Maria. Did Maria's dad leave La Pantera's mom? He must have. How did the two families not know of each other? La Pantera talks like they all go way back.

I hope you aren't really done, Lola. ;-)

Always a joy to read the recap!

I'm alone in this but I hated how easily the reunion with Fac and Porf went. That Fac just opened his heart to a woman that left him and never returned with no explanation. Obviously she has money and Fac and Porf lived in the same Pueblo for years so there was no problem finding them if she wanted to be in her son's life. All I'm saying is she better have a damn good explanation for abandoning her family and returning decades later.

Carvivlie- I'm with you on that. I'm eager to hear how she explains all the years she was out of her son's life.

Amazing recap, Jarifa. So detailed--which I always need.

I can see Pantera blaming Maria, even though Maria hasn't done anything because Maria got what Pantera should have gotten, too (not that it's right). But to call her a "filthy woman"? Maybe Perpetua, if Perp stole the dad from Pantera's mom--which doesn't seem likely. Or Perp knew about Pantera and didn't reach out to her.

Maybe there's going to be a Flor/Pant hook-up.

I like the actress they picked for Martina. The actor playing Porfirio is in his 90s, I've been told, so they needed someone who looked older. She still looks younger than him, but not so young as to be unbelievable.

I think the actress playing Hilde is doing a great job.

One of the major conversation problems that Rocio and Beto has is that Beto never lets Rocio talk. He's always interrupting her with his thoughts/ideas and doesn't stop to listen to her.

Carvivlie: Once again on the same page. Fac, especially, forgave Martina way too fast for me.

I've decided that I don't have to eat breakfast foods for breakfast anymore. Where's the law that says we have too?;) Pasta sounds good for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack.

Nanette

Fac's reaction was more shock and awe to me. He thought his mother died eons ago and only knows the nice things Porfirio has said about her. But after the tears and hugs, the reality started clicking in at the end. Fac didn't grow up knowing she had abandoned him. I give props to Porfirio for keeping it together in front of Fac.

Nanette, I lke the actress they got to play Martina, too. She looks like she could have been married to Porfirio. I like how telenovelas seem to have a multigenerational aspect to them with some of the older characters, as in the case, involved in interesting subplots of their own.

You are so right about Beto. Very annoying and counter productive.

Jarifa

Nanette: I'm the opposite. I can eat cereal for every meal and snack. I actually buy cereal that I don't really care for just to keep myself from doing just that!

Niecie, your perspective is impeccable. You are right - Por has never said a bad word to Facundo about his mother. In fact, quite the opposite. I did not remember the "off the rails" comment at all.

I'm going to make a confession. The first time I saw La Pantera, I thought it was Africa playing a dual role with a blonde wig. I still think the actresses have similar facial characteristics. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I can't imagine the reason Fac's mother left, let alone never looked for them as you noted Carvivlie. Especially as she had the financial means as Vivi pointed out.

Beto doesn't let Rocio say her piece does she Nanette? He forges ahead like a bull in a china shop, in manner and speech. Sigh.

I agree Italy is the best course for Rocio now too Jarifa. Of course, a little Italian scenery would be lovely, wouldn't it?

Diana

Carvivlie: I should have made cereal the exception. I love cereal, too. Life is my fav.

My sister and brother-in-law went to Europe in June/July. Part of their trip was to Italy. They didn't go to Milan (that's on my list of Italian cities to visit), but they LOVED Florence. They also really liked Rome. Italy was their fav part, from the sound of it.

I believe that's why Rocio was having such a hard time. Beto just wouldn't give her room to breathe. Or the courtesy of listening to her dreams--and her fears of marrying so young. Once she blew him off and had time to think, without his interference--she decided that it was Beto that she wanted. Then, of course, "the legendary MALENTENDIDO." Which is probably for the best.
