Lo Imperdonable #60 Mon 8/10/15 Yeah, but you should see the mosquito!

What goes up must come down, including Marty's mood.

Over breakfast, Marty and Vero are all lovey-dovey as they chat about their new house (which will have a room for Matilde, natch).  Marty wants her to see the plans he has drafted, so he steps away for a moment to get them.  Meanwhile,  Matilde joins Vero at the table.  The women get to talking about Poor Emi and The Ginny Problem.  "I know she'll never be able to make him happy," Vero says.

Uh oh. Marty has returned and overheard the conversation.

"And who do you think could make him happy?" he asks grimly.

Go figure.  Now that she's really sick, she fakes being well.

Although Dr. F says Ginny is burning up with fever, she continues to deny that she's sick.  She doesn't want him ruining her plans with Emiliano.  "I just have a little headache," she insists.  But when Emi comes downstairs, she collapses in his arms.   "It must be her heart!" says Emi, alarmed.  He and Dr. F rush her to the hospital.

Think about it, Einstein!

Vero tries to reason with Marty, begging him not to start with his jealousy again.  (You know the words to the song, right?)

Emi's like a brother to meeeeee
Ginny's just a rabid weasel
And you told me you'd believe in me.
What happened to your promise?

Bah!  He still doesn't understand why she's so concerned about Emiliano after all the problems he caused her.  Vero reminds him that she has forgiven Emiliano, but it still hurts that Marty was so quick to believe she was a zorra.  "I never said that," he protests.  "But you thought it."

All the lovey and the dovey have vanished at this point. "Let Emi take care of his own problems," suggests Marty (not unreasonably).  "We have enough of our own."  Yes, we do, agrees Vero.  And Marty needs to think carefully.  If he's not going to trust her, then this reconciliation makes no sense.  They should just end things now.

Aldo is a patient man, but he's not a fool.

PI Aldo reports to Magdalena that he hasn't been able to locate Clemente, but he is following some leads.  The authorities are examining the doll for fingerprints or other evidence.  [The Patio sighs in exasperation.  If there were any traces, they were surely obliterated when Maggie handled the thing.]

Magdalena shows Aldo the photo of her daughter, but she refuses to tell him where it came from.  "Just use it to find my daughter," she says mulishly.  Aldo explains that knowing the source of the photo would help.  He adds that he's a little suspicious of the timing of its appearance: One minute Botel leaves and the next minute Magdalena has a photo. "If Aaron's brother is behind all this, you should tell me – that guy is very dangerous."

Magdalena gets testy.  It's her business whether or not she includes Botel in the search.  As for the photo, she got it from an acquaintance.  If Aldo can't accept her conditions, she'll find someone else to take his place.  Aldo says he was only trying to protect her.

Crescencio makes his rounds

In case anyone has forgotten: The Old Goat is planning a dinner party at which Pablo will ask him for Ana Perla's hand in marriage.  He invites a few special people to the dinner and explains to them that he has begun a new chapter in his relationship with Ana Perla and Manuel.

He begins with Padre Juan.  He wants him at the dinner as a witness and a figure of authority, he says.  The padre accepts, though he says he would have preferred being invited as a friend.  Then he tells the Old Goat how Manuel got drunk the night before and guzzled all the communion wine.  If it happens again, he'll have no choice but to toss him out on the street.

All the interesting stuff happens when we're not looking

While we had our backs turned, Good Marty snuck back in.  Now he kisses Vero's hand and apologizes, begging her forgiveness.  Life has had a nasty habit of snatching away the people he loved, he tells her, and he's very afraid of losing her.  He's never told anyone before, but he is hounded by fear.  (Tengo mucho miedo sobre mis espaldas.)  Vero understands.  She assures him that whatever may happen, he will always have her as a friend.  "My friend?  No, I want you as my wife."

Before Vero can respond, Botel walks in with the news of his own heartache: He and Magdalena have broken up; he's here alone and she is back in Mexico.  He's not going to push Magdalena.  He'll give her time to come around.

Botel is surprised to hear that Dr. F has gone back to Mexico. [So F left without communicating with Botel.  Jerk.]  He approves of Marty bringing in a neurologist to look after Vero.  "Head injuries can be tricky."

When Botel leaves, Vero tells Marty that they need to make a decision.  Marty says nothing.  "If you want me to make the decision, then I'm asking you for a divorce."

I did everything according to Dr. Spock – and look at how the kid turned out!

The Old Goat is mortified by the sight of Manny begging in the street, cadging food from one of the hard-working miners.  He's ashamed of him, he tells his grandson.  He can't believe he once thought he would be capable of taking over the mine.  It's a good thing he realized his mistake in time and took measures to prevent that.  "What do you mean?" asks Manny with alarm.  "You changed your will?"

"How do you know what I put in my first will?" the Old Goat barks back.

Manuel's voice is breaking: "Am I in your will?  Am I? Answer me!"

"No, you answer me – did you read my will?"

Manuel is injured innocence incarnate.  The Old Goat always believes the worst of him, he says.  From the time he was a child, he always promised him that one day, the mine would be his.

"That was my dream," says the Old Goat, "until I realized that the promise had spoiled you and that you had never learned the value of earning things by your own efforts."

Manny begs for another chance.  The Old Goat says he can move back home, but he'll have to get a job and earn his keep.  Then they can talk again.

Squeeeeeeeee!

Ana Perla tells Blanquita about Pablo, the ring and the unexpected softening of the Old Goat.  They squeal with delight and dance around.  Julio lurks, listens and sulks.  Raymunda and Polo join the girls and share in the joy.  Ana Perla invites them to the special dinner para pedir la mano.  Group hug!

In a bar somewhere in the city, Magdalena's tormentors come up with a plan.

Aaron has been living it up (he has an apartment in the city and a house on the beach), but now, he tells Clemente, he's close to broke and looking to Botel as a cash cow.  Will they use Maggie to bleed Botel for money? wonders Clemente.  No, Aaron has a better (that is, worse) idea.  "How about if we kidnap Magdalena and hold her for ransom?  He'll never suspect me because I'm supposed to be dead. Bwahahaha!"  (But Clemente would be the first suspect, right?  Bwahahaha!)

Aaron calls Magdalena and easily manipulates her with the promise of more information about her daughter.

...While Marty looks into Vero's eyes and easily manipulates her with a smile and a vow of love.

A divorce??? Marty doesn't understand how Vero can make a decision just like that.  It's not easy for her, she says.  It's just that she feels there's something that he's not telling her.  "But I love you," he says.

"It's not enough for you to love me – I need you to trust me."

"I believe you."

"Look into my eyes.  Do you believe in me?"

"If I look into your eyes, I want to kiss you."

Vero smiles, completely disarmed.  Marty whispers huskily that there are so many things for them to do together.  Their house...  He shows her his plans.

Her skin is as jaundiced as her soul.

Now in the less than impressive Hospital Ce_ter, Ginny is sick as a dog. She is running a high fever, her whole body hurts, her head aches, she has the chills, she can't stop vomiting.  Dr. F tells her she has malaria (paludismo).  She was probably infected by a mosquito bite while she was in Mina Escondida.  Naturally, she has questions: "Why didn't that fool Verónica get it?  Or that idiot Emiliano?"   She begs Dr. F to help her.  And he does...

F tells Emi that Ginny must love him very much to have followed him into the jungle and exposed herself to its dangers.  Nature attacks the fragile, the helpless.  Thus vigorous Emi was spared and broken-hearted Ginny was stricken.

All Doubts are Swept Under the Love Rug

Marty leans in with that feral grin of his and tells Vero he wants to take her to a special place.  It's a surprise.  (So it looks like he's home free.  The doubts, the jealousy, the avoidance of direct questions have all been swept under the Love Rug.)

Vero tells Matilde that she and Marty have straightened things out, but now she's worried about Magdalena and her rift with Botel.  Matilde jokes that all the talk about Maggie is making her a little jealous.  Vero assures her that she'll always be Mati's niña.  What she feels for Magdalena is something different: "... a strong affection, a sense of nostalgia – her perfume, her smile, a gesture that, I don't know, reminds of something."  Matilde agrees.  Magdalena reminds her of someone, but she can't say who.  Then Vero rubs her arm.  Matilde's face suddenly lights up.  "I think I know who Magdalena reminds me of – a friend of yours in boarding school who looked a lot like you."  (Oh, Matilde, you disappointed us.  We were sure you had it figured out.)  Vero says Matilde is wrong.  Not only did that girl have a completely different personality, she didn't even have dimples!

Well Vero will give Magdalena a call later and try to persuade her to come back to Botel and to Mina Escondida. But Mati doesn't have to worry about her place in Vero's affections.  The new San Telmo house will include a room especially for her.

More squeeeeeeing

Joaquín takes a moment to share in Ana Perla's joy before heading off to the mine.  Raymunda offers to help with all the wedding preparations, including making the traditional white wedding shawl for the bride.  (There is entirely too much happy here.  It's making me nervous.)

An ungrateful child

Manny isn't impressed with the Old Goat's offer.  Where is he supposed to find work (since everyone in town loathes him)?  And when he hears that Ana Perla and Pablo are getting married – with the Old Goat's blessing – he can barely contain himself.  He's a fuereño!  Yes, concedes the Old Goat, but it turns outs he's more of a man than Manny is.

His grandfather walks away.  Manny fumes.

Simple joys

Raymunda is moved to tears when Ana Perla tells her she'd like to be married in her mother's wedding dress.

It's complicated.

In Mexico City, three women are planning a wedding that differs from the one envisioned by Ana Perla in every respect but one – the groom!  Mariana, her mother Montserrat and Salma are there, but the coven isn't complete without Ginny.  Where is she?  Emi calls Salma and tells her about Ginny's illness.  Oh no!  The ladies make their frantic, spike-heeled way to the Hospital Ce_ter.

Back in the backwoods...

Julio walks around in a cloud of aggrieved misery.  Ana Perla tries to say encouraging things.  It doesn't help.

Teo sends blabbermouth Romeo to deliver a "Dear Juanita" letter to Blanquita.  What???

Matilde is happy to be included in Vero's plans, especially since she no longer feels welcome in the Prado Castelo house.  If Ginny could turn Jorge and Emiliano against Vero so quickly, Mati doesn't even want to imagine how she'd be treated after their marriage.  (You're not wrong, dude, er, I mean Mati.)

Dr. F tends to Ginny's medical, emotional and aspirational needs.

He jumps back from the bed when Emi enters the room.  (Interestingly, all three – Dr. F, Emi and Ginny – now look jaundiced, so perhaps it's just the lighting in the Ce_ter.)

Guilt – It's what's for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Dr. F gives Emi and Ginny a few minutes alone. Ginny uses the time to describe all her symptoms, to remind him that she HAD to go to Mina Escondida because she couldn't leave him ALONE and to tell him it was worth it because it was there that she became HIS WOMAN. (What luck that malaria does not seem to affect eyebrow mobility!)

It works!  Emi rushes out and tells the newly-arrived Jorge that Ginny's condition is all his fault.  "Virginia doesn't deserve this!"

Pierre is next on the Old Goat's list

Crescencio stops by Les Oliviers to invite Pierre to the dinner.  He tells Pierre he knows he was overly strict with Ana Perla and he's glad of a chance to make it up to her.  He won't admit it to Pablo or his granddaughter, but that fuereño won him over.

Julio is still pouting

Ana Perla chases down sulky Julio and tells him she still wants to be his friend.  He says that's not possible – a señora can't be friends with a lowly employee.  He mutters about Nanciyaga making a fool of him and then stalks away.

Maybe it's the disease, maybe it's the Ce_ter... or maybe it's the doctor...

... but Dr. F tells Ginny's claque that she isn't doing as well as he had hoped.  The next 24 hours are critical.  Emi gets hostile and Dr. F becomes defensive.  In his usual ineffectual way, Jorge tries to calm the waters and Salma weeps on Jorge's chest.  Mariana and Montserrat stand around looking uncomfortable.

Relax.  Take off your shoes.  Have a baby.

Vero and Happy Marty have reached their destination – the gorgeous spot near the falls where they spent their belated wedding night (I think).  He has brought along the plans for the new house.  He shows her a very special room labeled CUARTO BEBE.  "¿Your child, Martín?" she says.  In that moment, her voice and facial expression appear to embody the doubts felt on the Patio.  "No, our child," he answers.  He wants a family with her.  And now she can't seem to keep herself from smiling.  They kiss.  Their song plays, the Univisión tijeras come out...

Avances:  Dopey Magdalena falls right into Aaron's trap; Vero has a corazonada that Maggie is in trouble; Ginny's life hangs in the balance.

Wonderful recap!

I hate it when the characters are in the hospital bec the doctor business never makes sense. Dr. F is a heart surgeon and wouldn't be the only doc on Vsnake's case anyway. Plus, he has been her doctor for years and no one finds it odd that no matter what she comes down with he is still her only doc? The whole thing is ridiculous. Guilt will make Emi marry her now.

Julio needs to stop moping and find a woman. I raise my hand for the job!

Vero and Marty are still boring and Vero is still acting stupid.

Maggie is obviously Vero's mom bec she is acting ridiculously too.

Agree, way too much happiness for AP right now so the hammer will fall soon.

NovelaMaven your recaps are so much better than the show, Thanks

"You know the words to the song, right?"

"Marty leans in with that feral grin of his" You nailed it, he is so creepy and nasty

"In Mexico City, three women are planning a wedding that differs from the one envisioned by Ana Perla in every respect but one – the groom!"

NovelaMaven---Your recap just hit the spot for a Tuesday morning, thank you.

So funny---Now that she's really sick, she fakes being well. That's so funny.
The words with along with the music notes to match was great.

NM---You hit the ball out of the park today.

I missed the snails and Dr. Nanci last night. I say give Ginny some smoke and magic leaves and she would be back to her evil self in no time.

Must see tv.

Thanks NovelaMaven for such a wonderful recap of last nights events. I loved the title and all the headings and loved "The Ginny Problem" and "The Love Rug". Also loved your observation about the two very different wedding plans with the same groom.

Very funny when Virginia wondered how come Veronica or Emiliano didn't catch malaria instead of her.

Something Interesting about last night which could or could not mean anything but Salma referred to Virginia as "mi hija" three times. Twice at the restaurant and then at hospital. None of the characters reacted to it though.

You're right. There is too much happiness for Ana Perla and Pablo that for sure something has to happen to bring on more tears. It's too early for complete happiness.

Once again Martin sweet talked himself out of looking Veronica in the eyes and telling her that he believed in her. And once again Veronica caved in. Sigh...

Yes. Uni did pull out the scissors on the love scene at the end.

I had the same "What?" reaction about Teo's breakup letter to Blanquita. It was as bad as breaking up with someone via a text message. Oh Teo.

That was funny watching Manuel begging for a bite of the sandwich and only getting an orange. He deserves it.

It was funny the guy waving that subway sammich around, I thought Manuel was gonna make a grab for it.

I thought Pablo was headed to NY but now Mariana is back in Mexico. I must have gone to organize my underwear drawer and missed something. Did I?

"I must have gone to organize my underwear drawer and missed something. Did I?"
jejejeje

Well, tofie, Mariana WAS in NY buying her wedding gown. We haven't seen Pablo make his trip to NY yet, so I assume that is something in the near future. I guess Mariana is a rich girl who thinks nothing of flying off to the Big Apple to go shopping.

On Friday's episode, Mariana was ready to head back home to order the wedding invitations and show Virginia all the things she has bought for her wedding.

Pablo's exhibition is in a month if I remember correctly.

Thanks NovelaMaven and Mauricio

Carvivlie,
Thanks so much!

"Agree, way too much happiness for AP right now so the hammer will fall soon."

And yet... since we've all been holding our breath ever since Pablo and Ana Perla first got together, WHAT IF WE'RE WRONG? What if the anvil – and there is an anvil – is about to fall on someone else? I'd be delighted if our predictions got shaken up.

"Julio needs to stop moping and find a woman. I raise my hand for the job!"
Yeah, as I understand it, there are several applicants already. Not me, though. Julio's getting on my nerves. The only way that Suffering in Silence bit works is if you remember the Silence part.

tofie, you are, as always, a peach. Thank you.

"One thing is certain both mother and daughter have an addiction to and weakness for abusive men."

That parallel sure got thrown in our faces last night. Do you think the writers are deliberately making Marty into Vero's Aaron when he should be her Botel?

I'm actually having a hard time remembering that Ivan Sanchez is the same actor who was so incredibly sexy in La Reina del Sur. Here, he often looks predatory (Is this how Guillermo García Cantú got his start? Inquiring minds want to know!)

Yeah, loved the sandwich thing!

Gringo,

Wow, thank you!

"I missed the snails and Dr. Nanci last night. I say give Ginny some smoke and magic leaves and she would be back to her evil self in no time."

I like some magic in every episode too. :-) (It did cross my mind that Nanciyaga might have put some kind of spell on the mala mujer.)

Yeah, Julio is just butthurt for no reason. Ana Perle never gave him the time of day and it's been all Pablo since she laid eyes on him. Last few days been wondering when he's gonna snap.

This whole Magdalena and Aaron thing avoidable. She's got unresolved issues with the dude and going back for more. How she thinks the quickest route to Veronica is through a guy that fooled everyone into believing he was dead a good plan is beyond me when a month ago she had a sketch artist rendering of Veronica she dismissed. She's not very bright (though you do see those little wheels turning in there behind the blank stare) and neither is her daughter.

Mauricio,

Praise from the master himself! Thank you!

And thanks for reminding us that Salma was throwing around m'hija's last night. Are we going to get that mother-daughter reveal while Vero and Maggie continue blundering in the dark?

You can always tell the scissors have been there because the music gets all messed up.

That poor guy gives Manny his orange and what does the jerk do with it? He throws it away! Bah! The orange was better than he deserved.

Thanks for the added detail on Pablo's New York plans.

I don't see Marty as Veronica's savior based on what we've seen so far. Actually he's a jealous, possessive asshole, even Aaron didn't start out that way until the booze got the better of him and he started smacking her around. Marty goes crazy without the booze. Let 6 more months go by and Marty get a 6 pack in him and he'll get really mean. I give him credit though, if promises of a rosy future and flattery get it done there is no reason to put forth more effort.

I don't think Ivan is hot at all and he goes at his sexy moves the same way he did that weird leap when he fenced Emiliano the first time.

Thanks so much NovelaMaven for the fantastic detailed recap.

Looks like Vero will be getting pregnant with all this baby talk. I wonder if Vero will actually divorce Martin when she knows the whole truth. I don't see Martin agreeing if it comes to that.

Not looking good for Magdalena. I am not happy with her not informing Botel.

Great recap!

Thanks for this marvelous recap, NovelaMaven. Very well done as always.

Well, Emiliano speaks for me, "Virginia doesn't deserve this!" Malaria? Drat. Of course we'll be having gin and tonics at the Ginny Table until further notice. Too bad Virginia didn't drink these during her stay in the Green Hell. Get well soon pretty lady... I'm sure the entire Patio wishes you all the best.

What a creepy love scene at the end of this episode. What was with that weird pawing by Martín at Verónica's face? Was that supposed to be romantic?

Yes, a baby! That's it! That's just what this dysfunctional couple needs to set their marriage back on course.

Carlos

Thanks, Duchess!

I'm not too happy with Magdalena's choices either. It's like she asks herself: What's the worst thing I could do in a situation like this? And then she does it. It makes no sense to isolate herself. And it certainly makes no sense (as others have said) not to warn Botel that his life has been threatened.

So which will come first – pregnancy or divorce? (or maybe neither)

Dear Carlos,

What would we do on the Patio without your medical guidance and civilizing influence?

"Of course we'll be having gin and tonics at the Ginny Table until further notice. Too bad Virginia didn't drink these during her stay in the Green Hell.

Indeed. And just the season for them.

"What was with that weird pawing by Martín at Verónica's face? Was that supposed to be romantic?"

Hmm. So I take it you would agree with tofie about Marty's charms. And again, I wonder what the writers (and directors, if there are any) intend here because this is an actor who can be charismatic or creepy on command. I suspect he's just not used to flying without a net, as telenovela actors are expected to do.

"Yes, a baby! That's it! That's just what this dysfunctional couple needs to set their marriage back on course."

¿que no?

Pregnancy yes, divorce never. Veronica will continue to play her coy little game and throw out divorce every time he snorts. She did it twice last night and it whipped the puppy in line for a few more forgive me's and I want to lick your face. Yawn.

Hope Botel doesn't pay up, Magdalena put her head in the lions mouth

Just read the title. Pure genius. Time to take this show on the road, kid. Now back to read the recap.

My dear JudyB, whatever would I do without you?

¡Besitos!

Some of my favorite lines:

All doubts are swept under the love rug.

feral grin (Martin looks like he should be playing the lead role in The Shining)

In Mexico City, three women are planning a wedding that differs from the one envisioned by Ana Perla but one--the groom!

frantic spike-heeled way

Guilt--it's what's for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

and my absolute favorite? ...and the Univision tijeras come out.

Much fun. Now off to toast Virginia with a nice cool gin and tonic.

I agree about Julio. I liked him better when he was keeping his love for Ana Perla a secret. Now that he has confessed his feelings for her and is moping around he is starting to get on my nerves also. I wish he would move on and find someone else.

I guess am the only one who finds Martin romantic lol.

Even when Martin and Vero do get back together when the telenovela finishes I don't see him fully trusting her. He has serious trust and jealousy issues. I don't see that going away at all.

Gracias, NovelaMaven! Last night was another evening when my Univision feed was either messed up or nonexistent! Without your fabulous recap, I wouldn't know that our characters are still trudging the same old ruts, mostly.

Marty and Vero have such a messed up relationship that I can't bring myself to feel bad when Uni cuts part of their love scenes. Vero needs to avoid the baby route until Marty confesses his secrets. Otherwise, she may repeat her mother's sad history.

Duchess,

That's the problem with Martin & Veronica's relationship. The two need to work out their issues before deciding to give their marriage another chance. Martin can't seem to look at Veronica in the eye and tell her that he'll trust her always. And Veronica doesn't insist on them solving their issues. She does insist for like a second and then caves in. The two get back together but nothing changes. They go in circles.

NovelaMaven,

I missed Manuel throwing the orange the first time around. So I went back and saw it. I can't believe I missed it. I expected it to happen because that's just something that Manuel would do when he doesn't get what he wants.

Also, about Manuel. Padre needs to give up. Manuel will never change. Kick him out already! Manuel screeching "foreño" (sp?) was annoying.

NovelaMaven, your recaps are always filled with snappy wit, I like your titles.
Manny is pitiful, and now he's gonna do something stupid, what else is new!!!
Poor sickly ginny, she still manipulates, at the point of death, well it could be. No shes gonna to stay around and make vero's life a living hell.
Marteen, what can I say about marteen. SameO, sameO
Veronica, I repeat, SameO, SameO.
No you're not the only one, I think he's romantic, then he screws It up and, here we go again.
I'm already tired with Magda trying to find her daughter and Aaron turning her every which way but loose. that particular part of the story is kind of boring I wish they'd go ahead and end it. Ok thats it for now.

My pleasure, La Paloma!

Duchess and Mauricio,
Maybe we'll see Marty (and possibly Vero) in therapy before we're done. Don't laugh – it's happened before. And the writers have taken some pains to write the childhood traumas of these two damaged souls; the least they could do is try to take them in for repair.

Mauricio, that's the thing about men of God – they are the last ones to give up on us. :D

I'm trying to remember a single time that Manny WASN'T annoying... nope. Can't do it.

Thanks, Nina!

I think you're right about "poor sickly ginny." She definitely has miles to go before she sleeps. (Carlos has nothing to worry about.)

I kind of enjoy the Marty and Vero show, dysfunctional though it may be. Not so much the Magdalena and Aaron show. That one has an overpowering ICK factor. The less time we spend on that subplot, the better.

Yes therapy is a good idea NovelaMaven. Totally agree. It is unlikely though. I enjoy watching them so much.

Therapy is a good idea. The fencing matches aren't working. ;)

Thank You Novela Maven, not tired of YOU.
Tired of Marteeen and Vewrongica.
Tired of Pavlov and Ana Perla.
Tired of Aaron and Mary Magdalene
Tired of Emmy and Ginny.

For Pete's sake, somebody kill somebody and get this show on the road.

"Therapy is a good idea. The fencing matches aren't working. ;)"

No, Mauricio, they surely are not. hahahahahaha!

Those fencing matches are a waste of time. He'll just wind up cuttin her buttons looes and they end up makin looooove all over the fencing floor, then they'll argue, she'll ask him "do you trust me"? Then he'll start kissing her again, they'll do the deed. Then she'll get pregnant with those twins, ( I'm just guessing y'all this ain't no spoiler thing), I'm just guessing. But wouldn't that be a big mess all over again?

Anon6:46 --

"For Pete's sake, somebody kill somebody and get this show on the road."

I vote for Manuel to be the first one to go.

I love the nickname "Pavlov".

Nina --

"He'll just wind up cuttin her buttons looes and they end up makin looooove all over the fencing floor, then they'll argue, she'll ask him "do you trust me"? Then he'll start kissing her again, they'll do the deed. Then she'll get pregnant with those twins, ( I'm just guessing y'all this ain't no spoiler thing), I'm just guessing. But wouldn't that be a big mess all over again?"

Yes, it would be a big mess. And I can totally see it happening. :)

Way too much moping going on in the green hell and in the hell of Maggie’s own creation. Not only is she being an idiot, she is the biggest Debbie Downer ever. How long has it been since she smiled? Or even had a scene where she didn’t cry? Ever the master at subtlety, Mejia is not just tugging at heartstrings, he’s got ‘em hooked up to a runaway tractor. Not working for me, especially since you wouldn’t even have to be paying attention or understand the Spanish to see that Vero is Mag’s daughter; they’ve hammered it at us. This whole story line is sappy and ridiculous and I just want that sad sap mopey face off my screen.

Does this thing have any directors? That is an excellent question, NM. Or if it does (‘cause to be fair, it seems to at times), just how long are their coffee breaks?

I didn’t care for the weird face petting and a few other things, but otherwise I quite like Good Martin. Crazy Martin is scary.

Caroyaga sees dark storm clouds coming for the engagement dinner. Muchacha Beauty Mole will cry many tears, and so will Wimpy Man Artist and Woman without a Brain.

I’m finally almost caught up on all the episodes I missed. It’s been longer, harder slog than I thought it would be. That’s a bad sign. I’ve got the intro music in my brain. That’s another bad sign. I like the lead couple, flawed as they may be, their acting and chemistry has been good. I am enjoying Virginia’s evil conniving, but I'm not quite ready to sit at her table. Could I have one of those G&Ts to go? ;)

Thank you, NovelaMavin, for this and all the other fine recaps. Always a pleasure to read your work.

Let me guess. Veronica will leave Martin and then find out she’s preggers. She will keep it a secret from him. But when he finds out, they will reconcile. Please tell me that they wouldn’t be that predictable, would they?

Carolina,

So glad you're joining us for this one. And thanks so much for the nice words. Yes, the ride is bumpy but I, for one, continue to enjoy the view.

Ditto about Debbie Downer. That stuff gets old very quickly.

"Caroyaga sees dark storm clouds coming for the engagement dinner. Muchacha Beauty Mole will cry many tears, and so will Wimpy Man Artist and Woman without a Brain."

You cracked me up with that one. (Nanciyaga better watch her back – she's got powerful competition right here on the Patio!)

You not only can get a G&T to go, it's on the house for your excellent plot predictions. (I don't mean to insult you or anything, but are you sure you don't work for Televisa?

Caroyaga does not work for white man's money. It is paler than masa and much less useful. Caroyaga just knows what the spirits tell her.

Caroyaga also knows what happened in Que Bonito Amor, the last novela by Man Who Makes Terrible Novelas.

*slurps G&T* Caroyaga much better now.

hahahahahahahaha... oops. Reminder to self: keep straight face in presence of Third Person Persons.

Thank You Novelamaven for your hard and witty work. You really know how to write between the lines.

Little Mariana: Everybody disses her because she is delusional and crazy. I think she is HOT. We already established that the crazy girls pants are on fire, so whats not to love?

She is only small shades more out of touch with reality than Vero or Maggy, and that is debatable, so I like her. And she ROCKS short shorts.

Maggy seems to have found true happiness. I have seen it a hundred times. Everyone and his brother try to save some twisted chick from an abusive demon and she will stab you in the back and defy all logic to get with him for another beating. "Beat me, bite me, burn me, make me feel cheap." It appears Magdalena and Aaron are perfect for each other, may they have mucho happiness. People treat you as you ALLOW them to treat you. I have zero sympathy for her, she is a grownup. I have seen too many helpless children beaten and abused, and that makes my blood boil. But she chooses this of her own free will, and deserves everything she gets.

Thanks, anon. You're right about Mariana – she is gorgeous. And if her beauty is keeping some viewers watching, then I guess she's earning her keep.

I strongly disagree about Magdalena – she may have made foolish choices and she may annoy the hell out of some of us with her permaMope, she doesn't DESERVE that abuse. I refuse to blame HER for the disgusting behavior of her abuser.

It's easy to say that "People treat you as you ALLOW them to treat you." It's not that simple. In reality, predators prey on their victims by manipulating them into feeling they have no choice. (And sometimes, they really have no choice.)
