Caray, Caray!

Lots of filler tonight but they sure saved the best for last. Mariana has arrived and spiced things up in the AP/Pablo story.
 

Thank You Thank You Mauricio. The first thanks was for the recap, the second was for FF through the drivel I was not able to FF through and had to endure.

The best part of the night was Aabott and Costello trying to send Costello (Clementine) in to fool old Jorge. He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to the witches he lives with, but he is more than a match for A and C. I love it giving a fellow a business card when you are probably for all practical purposes living in a 1983 Ford Topaz. Hee Haa.

Wow old Marteeeen's nose started to grow last night, or maybe it was just me. The guy would tell a lie to cover a lie to cover a lie. He has told Vero so many lies I wonder if he keeps a cheat sheet in his shoe so he can remember all the BIG FAT LIES he has told her. Nanci is trying to confront him about that exact topic, and when Vero walks up he spits out another string of lies telling her Nanci wants to work on the school rehab. Bulllll Marteeeen.

Thank you Mauricio for a marvelous recap. I loved your accompanying quick commentary—the HA!'s and the FF’s made me laugh.

So Magdalena doesn’t want to lie about the mine’s finances, apologizes to Vero about the Demetrio as brother cover-up but is still holding back on the biggest bombshell she has to tell Vero: I’m your mother.

Who thinks the new teacher is destined for Julio?

Julio and Gabriela? You could be right, Barbara. I do think that Gaby will be a good friend for Vero – someone who is kind of a peer. (If I remember right, Ana Brenda and Susana Diazayas (Gaby) played besties in Barreras de Amor, although in those days, Ana Brenda was playing second fiddle.)

Things are getting more and more interesting!

Yes. Jorge did work his brain last night by refusing to give Clemente any info on Vero. For once he does something right.

Martin's lies will come back to bite him the butt for sure. Can't wait to see how he'll weasel himself out of the lie he told Vero about the mine when she finds out that the mine never had problems like he told her.

There were several FF moments last night. I kept waiting for the big moment when Mariana found Pablo and AP together (as was shown on the previews on Wednesday night).

I loved how Aaron and Clemente failed to get any info on Vero. As I said above, for once Jorge did the right thing and worked that brain of his and refused to feed Clemente any info on Vero.

Yes. Magdalena is still hiding the big "I'm your mother" bombshell. Can't wait until Vero finds out the truth.

I was thinking that perhaps Gaby and Medel would hook up. But I wouldn't mind Gaby and Julio hooking up. Anything to get him to stop crushing after AP.

Wow! I didn't recognize Susana Diazayas as Gaby. Last time I saw her she was playing Nati on Triunfo Del Amor and she looked so different there. Thanks for the info.
 

Yes, Susana Diazayas is quite a chameleon, Mauricio. In this role, she starts out with more or less decent hair. This bodes well – chances are she'll be kind of 'normal' and won't have to spend too much time crying. (I believe that somewhere, at this very moment, an academic type is working on a thesis: Hair style as a predictor of/marker for character development in the 21st century Mexican telenovela.)

It's a good thing Salma wasn't around when Clemente came calling in his door-to-door missionary suit. She would probably have drawn a map for him and given him carfare (or lancha-fare) to Green Hell. Have you noticed that Jorge only gets to show a functioning brain in Salma's absence?

Anyone else watch Amores con Trampa? The miner Lorenzo, the one that apologized to Vero, isn't he the gardener in Amor Imposible, Imposible Imposible?

Anyway, we knew AP and Pablo's happiness couldn't last. Mariana's craziness insured that.

Poor Emi. Do you think Vsnake will get him down the aisle or that some obstacles will go up. I kinda want him to return to ME first and realize he wants Nanci.

So now the three of them, Matin, Mag and Botel, even after talking about it, STILL did not tell Vero about the mine not having financial problems - or did I miss it??

I love Nanciyaga, casually sitting on the bench eating her apple. Seems like she is the only one in this story with working brain cells. I think Alfredo is a better match for her than either Martin or Emi.



 

Thanks for another great recap, Mauricio. Not only are you a talented writer with a keen eye for important details and skill at translation, you are also apparently tireless as well.

For me the most startling revelation in this episode was spotting Julio's red boxers peaking out above his jeans as he tussled with Pablo. I would never have guessed that. Where do you suppose he buys those in Mina Escondida?

Something is not clear to me, does Botel and Magdalena know that Martin married Vero for vengeance? Because in the recap Botel was asking Martin why he would lose Vero. Doesnt Botel and his wife know?

WOW! some strong comments lately. Ok my turn. I've said it before but I guess that I need to say it again. The way I see it is this. I know that the peeps on the patio often get discouraged and easily become restless but if the characters in the stories do the right thing or usually do the right thing, then we wouldn't have much of a story---or at the least a very short story. There has to be people making mistakes to stretch out the storyline a little bit and to keep the peeps on the patio coming back fore more. How will this mess end??? See what I mean?

Ana Perla as the Village Idiot? That's pretty harsh I would say. Ok, she is young and naïve, inexperienced in life but she has a good heart. She knows that her brother is a bad person but she still is holding out hope that he will at some point, see the light and change his ways.

I knew a family that had five children. They fought like cats and dogs. Sometimes I
thought that they were going to kill each other. The funny thing was that anyone that wasn't a family member had better not say anything against any one of them or
if they did, they had better be prepared for war. At times one would think that they hated each other but no, they were "family." The family gene is often very strong. Manuel has treated AP very badly but he is still her brother, she is willing to forgive and move on. The thing is that Ana Perla doesn't know what we know and so she is holding out hope for her brother's turnaround.

Carlos---A Foot Locker in Mina Escondita? A fabulous idea. Quality mountain boots and around town loafers, a little store like that could be as good as a gold mine.

Carlos---Right again, Marty does have spooky eyes. He would be great at a Halloween
party.

Barbara---The new teacher and Julio? Could be.

Yes, hopefully she'll be normal and won't be used as filler. It's nice seeing her again. I just remembered that Susana Diazayas had a small role on La Tempestad. That would be the last time that I saw her. She looked different there also.

You're right. Jorge only works that brain when Salma isn't around. I agree that it is a good thing that Salma wasn't around Clemente talked to Jorge.

I'm not watching Amores Con Trampa so I wouldn't know. But I did some researching and found out that the name of the actor playing "Lorenzo" is Juan Bertheau. I haven't seen him in anything else before this novela.

Yes. AP and Pablo's romance was doomed. Too much happiness before the end is always an indicator that something bad will happen to mess it up.

It'll be interesting to see how far Emi and Virginia's engagement goes. And what will Daniel do when he finds out?

They haven't told her that the mine never had financial problems. They must be waiting for her to find out on her own I guess.

If I recall correctly they don't know that Marty married Vero for vegeance.

Only the Padre knows but Marty sealed Padre's lips when he told him in confession.

Good point. We do need the characters to be foolish and make mistakes or else we wouldn't have a story.

I have been enjoying these past few episodes a lot. Things are getting really good.

Can't wait until tonight to see what happens next.
 

Mauricio and Team- I haven't been watching this tn the last few weeks, but I always read your recaps, and wanted to say you have all been doing a brilliant job recapping this tn. In fact, you all are such wonderful recappers that I can picture everything without needing to watch. Thank you!

I do get to see the last few minutes of this each evening that bleed over into my recording of Yo No Creo, so I get to see some of the minute changes, like to AP's hair and Magdalena's style, as well as what new orthopedic aid Vero is using. I like the stylish cane. Did Pierre lend her his?

As for what Botel and Magda know that could sink Marty if they told Vero-- they know that he believed Vero was a golddigger when he married her. That's what he told them, and that's the excuse he used for why he wanted them to go along with the lie that the mine was broke. Vero now knows that Martin thought/thinks she 1) broke his brother's heart callously; and 2) is a whore. Now she can add golddigger to the list when she finds this out from Botel or Magda.
 

Ah Mauricio, thanks for stepping in. And not only that, but for writing such a funny, fast-moving recap. The frequent FF's, and especialy "Awwww....OKFF..." Just cracked me up. Found myself waiting for the next one, the way I wait for the chorus to come 'round again in a great song.

I was kinda hoping you'd stick with your Nanciyaga/Mauricio persona as in "Mauricio senses a storm coming." Anyway, it was hilarious.

And your wise aside (but hey, isn't being with someone out of gratitude worse than being with someone out of compassion?) All great questions. But what the heck does Virginia care anyway. All she wants is that ring on her finger and access to unlimited charge cards. Love Schmove.

Hmmm...new teacher. Yes, the refugee from Triunfo de Amor. Medel or Julio? Well, honestly, Medel is a little long in the tooth for anybody on this show. Except perhaps for Pablo's mom. But can't see that either.

Now, don't get me wrong. I adore children. I puddle up and MELT whenever a little one is around. But I hate this corny side story with the ice cream cone, amigo letter and poor little waif persona. Just. No.

But I'm sure we'll get a lot more. Still, as long as they come wrapped up in a nice little FF Mauricio recap, I'm on board. Thanks again.

Do-Boy Danny is supposedly already on board with the plan of Vsnake marrying Emi just long enough to get her hands on ALL the PC money. He does NOT know that as soon as she is able to marry Emi, he is of no further use to her. Remember a while back Vsnake was day dreaming and saying "This will all be mine, and Jorge and Selma will not even be allowed here without a personal invite."

After all this is accomplished, remember also, she plans on discarding Emi.

What she has not laid out for anyone, is exactly how she plans to accomplish all this, becoming the sole owner of the complete PC empire, sans Jorge, Salma and Emi.

Well it's about time there were some real fireworks in AP/P's relationship!! Too bad it had to blow up this badly. You would think AP would unleash this kind of wrath on that bum she calls a brother Manuel. I don't think she's ever even raised her voice to that moron much less yelled at him. Anywho....

Grandpa Sendel could have done us all a solid and just tossed VSnake into the turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean. Here's to wishful thinking. Instead he popped a ring on her hand. The balloon thing was so cheesy but then I'm not big on Public Displays of Proposals.

I'm with JudyB. I know Mejia's trying to stretch out this story as much as he can but bringing in the kids to do the equivalent of dumb pet tricks is just boring and very old hat. You can do better old man.

Great recap. Thanks for doing such an awesome job. All your comments and asides had me LOL. Especially all the FF's.

I have to say that I am enjoying the novella, and with last night's events, the story should start moving along. I wanted to shove something inside Mariana's mouth. She would not shut up. It's the first time I kind of felt bad for AP. All the evidence was stacked against Pablo. I think Mariana is used to getting what she wants, and wasn't going to let Pablo break up with her. Pablo never even proposed to Mariana. If I remember correctly, Montserrat (Mariana's mom) pressured the couple by asking when they would make it official. To me, that is not a proposal. If neither of the 2 people in a relationship asks the other to get married, then there is no engagement or wedding. PUNTO! Mariana is delusional and I feel bad for her. She is a beautiful girl, but she has no self esteem if she's clinging to Pablo like he's the last man on earth.

I agree about the kids. Dorita is a cute kid and all but we really don't need so much screen time with her. One or two scenes with her would have been enough.

AuntyAnn, it's true that Pablo NEVER proposed to Mariana. It was Montse's idea for the two to get married. Poor Pablo. Everything is against him and AP won't let him explain.

Last night I got home around midnight, but I did get a chance to quickly read your recap. I agree that they saved the best for last and OF COURSE that Mariana had to find the love birds in that compromising position. At this point I have no sympathy for any of the parties involved. Pablo should have manned up and told Mariana point blank that he wanted out, AP needs to learn to listen and Mariana should stop being such a desperate Pablo-hungry damsel - does she even care about losing him as much as she cares about people making fun of her?
Geez, these people...
How can anyone trust Manuel?? Pablo does win some points here, he seems to be the only person in town who can see through that creep's facade. Oh, our Marty is a truly bad judge of character!!!
